I have had a $3000 GE Profile fridge for 6 years. It died. Tech says turf it. I bought a whirlpool. Hopefully it lasts longer. These expensive fridges seem to be very undependable. What is a family supposed to do when a refrigerator stops working and repairs take days or weeks? Is there a courtesy fridge for a loaner? They are big and heavy. What a royal pain.
Approximately 2 years after purchasing a Whirlpool Gold side-by-side/counter depth refrigerator, I noticed cracks on the interior walls. This was in 2011. First, I contacted the service contract people. They told me this was not covered under the policy. Next, I wrote & called the company. They told me they could send someone out to EPOXY the walls. I told them this was not at all acceptable to me and that I believe this is a defective product. I have never heard of this happening to a refrigerator. I am also quite concerned that there are toxins emitted through these cracks. After a time with no response, I wrote them again. This time, they referred me to Ms. Alicia ** at the Exec. Offices. She wrote asking me to call her. After making several calls & leaving messages to no avail, I wrote her asking that she kindly write back to inform me what the company was going to do about this defective product. I cant help thinking they did not want to commit to anything in a letter because I never heard from her or anyone else at Whirlpool. Small Claims Court cannot help as the company does not have an office in New York. I am very worried about the possible health hazard this possesses. I am very careful to completely cover all food inside the refrigerator. At this point, the cracks have increased in size and new ones have appeared. I am very upset over the lack of concern and lack of response from Whirlpool.Ive owned many Whirlpool appliances through the years and trusted the brand. This is not a cheap appliance. Consumers dont expect to spend a few thousand dollars on a product just to dump it in a year or two. Given the size of the Whirlpool Corp., anyone would think they would simply replace their defective product to keep their reputation if not for the health concern of their customers, which should be a priority. Over the past few years, I have had increased respiratory problems and so have other family members. I believe its due to the emissions from the cracks. I will have to dump this defective refrigerator before it gives me cancer! Thanks Whirlpool, great doing business with you.
Has multiple wash Cycles. Big enough to wash a comforter. Has a delay setting so I can set it 8 hours in advance. Easy to load, easy to add the wash ingredients. Its a top load so its easy to get everything in and out.
Washer, barely 6 months old, purchased at Lowes. While my washer cleans and I am happy with it, my washer started making loud noises during the spin cycle. I called Lowes warranty service approx 9/26/13; tech scheduled for 10/8, over a week later. Diagnosis: stripped bearings; total bearings and all tub components must be replaced. Parts ordered to be delivered to my door. Cost of washer: approx $800. Cost of parts: over $1600. Washer cannot be replaced until they have attempted to fix it at least 3 times. Repairman returns on 10/18 to repair. Oops, large plastic tub component shipped broken from manufacturer. Reorder parts for repair on 10/29. Finally a repair BUT A&E left the large tub part saying they had no room to take the part. So now Lowes is trying to arrange to dispose of the huge part sitting in my home. I live in a condo so the part cannot be disposed of in our facility. This has been a nightmare to fix and while customer service was cordial, they were totally unable to provide what is considered excellent customer service. So whose fault is it? I have missed several hours of work to try to get this taken care of. I spent money visiting a laundromat for over a month. I am the customer and guess what that means? Nothing! Now my concern is getting that large part out of my home and whether to buy an extended warranty OR just throw it out if it breaks. Very dissatisfied customer! And no the warranty for this major part overhaul is not a year from installation..... my warranty still starts the day of purchase. Are you serious? My advice: ask your friends about their appliances & esp service if they received it.
After insisting to my husband that I wanted an HE washer with a large capacity so I could wash comforters and such and be ready for a house full of grandkids and visitors (we recently moved and had to leave my washer and dryer in the old house); I have been very disappointed with the washer. It leaves lint residue all over my clothes! Some of them I just cant get off. I live in Colorado and the sun shines almost everyday! I love to hang my clothes outside to dry and get brightened by the sun. Being a mile high makes the clothes even brighter I think!Anyways... back to washer... I have been doing laundry for 40 years. I have 4 grown children and know how to sort, etc... When I wash my darks, the lint that ends up on the shirts and pants... its just ridiculous! I end up scraping it off for about 25 minutes before I can hang them up to dry. On some of the clothes, there are marks where all the lint was and has stayed! Ive tried using less detergent, less fabric softener and always use the extra rinse. Tried setting it on the lowest spin cycle and the highest... Nothing helps. How do I tell my husband I would like to get rid of this and get an good old fashioned washer? I was a maniac for two months doing research and making a great cause to buy these machines! It seems to be a little better if I dry the clothes in the dryer, as the lint is pulled off somewhat, but the marks remain. If anyone has had the same experience and knows what Im doing wrong, or has a solution (other than going back to the basic machine) I would appreciate it so much. Disappointed in Denver.
We purchased a Whirlpool Duet Sport Front-Loading washing machine December 5, 2006. Approximately six months later, the machine would not come on! Service determined the motherboard was faulty. Since it was under warranty, they replaced it. We continued to have the same issue with turning the machine on. The technician instructed us to hold the start button down for a minute or unplug the machine to reset it. The problem persisted. Now, we are told it needs yet another motherboard. Cost - $500! We paid about $650 for the machine! (The manufacturer only offers a one year warranty on the motherboard) What incentive do I have to purchase this part? After all, Whirlpool only warranties it for a year! That in itself, tells me they cant guarantee the quality of their product.
I purchased a Whirlpool microwave at the end of November 2015. Since then it has needed repair 3 times. Now I am being told it is not repairable. Microwave is only 1.5 years old and Whirlpool would not stand behind its product and provide additional warranty service or even a discount toward a new one. When I asked to speak with a supervisor I was just left on hold, 20 minutes later I hung up! Poor customer service!
Purchased our hot water heater in August of 2011. About 3 days ago, it just stopped working. Surely it should last longer than this, right? Nope apparently I was taken! We called the manufacturer and described the issue. They said it was the thermopile. They could send us another out in a few days but we didnt want to wait so we paid $50 for a new one we were able to locate at a hardware store. Nobody sells these! We replaced the thermopile but no results... Pilot will not stay lit. Called Whirlpool back and they said to hit the reset button which we did. Called a technician (several) which wouldnt touch the heater. Said nobody works on these because they are riddled with issues. I pleaded with him to test it which he did. He said the control box is out! He said to cut our losses and buy a new one! I am so very upset! I cant afford another one! We called Whirlpool back again to see what they would say this time - they are sending us another control box! After reading all of the complaints and being without hot water, I am not hopeful of a good result! I plan on replacing the control box that they send and then saving for a new heater! I want my money back which Ive heard just wont happen! I have also had nothing but issues with my gas stove made by Whirlpool ever since it was only 6 months old. STAY AWAY FROM WHIRLPOOL PRODUCTS!! Run!!!
Recently, I was having a problem with my Whirlpool gas range so I contacted the 1-800 number. Long story short, the repair cost was so high I would be better off getting a new range. But believe me, it will not be a Whirlpool.
I apparently am one of the lucky ones to have an electric water heater. My unit started giving me failure codes during the Christmas holidays. Each time it would fail, I would get a different failure code indicating the upper element, the lower element, and a sensor failure. After testing all 3 of these components, it was determined to be a controller issue. After speaking with Chris on the phone, he overnighted a new controller to me. I installed the new controller and had no more failures. Hot showers for New Years! Thank you Chris.
For the last month, in order to wash dishes, we have to start the dishwasher normally. The water will begin to fill the tub and then stop and all the display lights go out. We push the cancel/drain button and the dishwasher empties the water in the tub. We again, push the desired wash cycle button just like the first time and the dishes wash normally. We have purchased at least two of this same type dishwasher with the utensil holder in the door from Whirlpool in the past, with great satisfaction.
I HATE, HATE, HATE the aqua lift clean feature. Its awful. The bottom came somewhat clean but cook bacon and the sides and top are filthy and the aqua lift cant clean that. I dont know how this ever made it past the thought process stage to become a thing but it needs to go away. Im quite cranky right now as Ive just spent two hours scrubbing my oven while reaching past the oven door that doesnt come off because its a self-clean oven. This is what I have to look forward to for the next 10 years until it dies and I can get a new oven? What a joke!!
My review merely echoes the other 1-star reviews Ive read below, but Im including it anyway. We bought the Whirlpool Cabrio from Lowes in 2013. Two weeks ago, a mere five years after purchase and shortly after our warranty expired, it broke. It kept showing the UL code and took multiple cycles to wash the clothes. Unacceptable. We called the technician; he came out; told us it was the bearing that busted; and quoted us $800 to fix it (I noticed below another customer was quoted $400 for the same issue). We told the technician thanks but no thanks and purchased a $450 Samsung washer. Our family will never purchase any Whirlpool product again. From their customer service to the performance of their machines-- its all very much lacking.
This is the worst product (Whirlpool Cabrio Washer) I have ever purchased. I paid $999 for it new. I had to have it repaired at the cost of $500 at just two years old. My sister bought and had the exact same repair needed. I used to trust Whirlpool but not anymore. I wont buy Maytag either since it is a Whirlpool product as well.
The Whirlpool washer and dryer I bought new four years ago has been nothing but a giant on-going headache. No end to the error codes for washing machine. The dryer knobs broke off after two years. The washing machine works only when it feels like it, and important pieces that get a lot of wear are made of plastic. I will never buy Whirlpool again. Ever. Good luck to anyone that is brave enough to buy Whirlpool appliances. I have to say it again: Whirlpool is garbage, junk and unreliable.
I felt compelled to write this review, to sum it up NEVER buy ANY Whirlpool, KitchenAid etc brand. Nothing but the worst experience, it all started with a 5 year old Whirlpool fridge that stopped cooling, I called and they said they could send someone for like 200$ and that it does not guarantee it will be fixed. So I called an independent and he tried to refill the freon, but it was leaking behind the fridge in a section you cannot access because they want you to buy another one, so 5 year old fridge in the garbage and now to top it off, a KitchenAid knife set that is barely used, one of the big knives broke cutting a fruit, and good luck in any circumstance getting any customer service. SO NEVER AGAIN, TRUST ME AND PUT YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE ON ANY OTHER COMPANY.
We bought this dishwasher new from the Brick 2 or 3 years ago. It was bought not because old dishwasher wasnt working, but we needed a new fridge and stove so we also bought a dishwasher to match the new stainless steel fridge/stove. If I could give 0 stars I would. Biggest complaints: It doesnt matter what soap, what setting or how much your rinse/scrape your dishes THIS DISHWASHER WILL NOT CLEAN THEM. Its very rare it actually cleans a dish or utensil properly. If your plate had ketchup on it, it wont clean it. But if you had a sandwich on the plate and managed to not get ANYTHING from your sandwich on the plate, it would come out clean. The drain constantly clogs. We rinse everything, but the drain hose constantly clogs to the point the unit wont drain. Have to remove the unit, take off hoses and blow them out. It clogs because the strainer at the bottom of the dishwasher which is supposed to stop stuff from going down the drain hose doesnt work. If you look at the strainer and the system they use to stop stuff from going down the drain hose. Its no surprise it doesnt work. By design it cant work. My brother in law is a licensed appliance repair man. Sears actually paid for his schooling. He installed and hes fixed the clogged drain numerous times. He agrees. Worst dishwasher ever.
I purchased a rental home with a Whirlpool hot water heater. In the home inspection, it was deemed to be in good working order. The first day the tenant moved in, I received 3 service calls for no hot water. My contractor told me I needed to replace the start up assembly and it needed to be ordered from Whirlpool directly, as it is not available in stores. When I contacted Whirlpool Customer Service, the operator, Stacey, was rude and unhelpful. She told me that the warranty was void because I was not the original owner, even though it does not state that the warranty is not transferable. She also told me she could not help me order a replacement part without the item number.
We had purchased a Whirlpool Duet Sport Washer and Dryer in 2007. Since that time we have had several repairs on the dryer, resulting in us having to purchase an entire new unit in 2011 (4 years old), along with mold that has accumulated in the washing machine on the tub and rubber seal that cannot be removed after several attempts utilizing several products that were recommended. The end result is our laundry that has been washed - comes out with a musty odor. Not happy at all with the top of the line, best possible machine to produce clean laundry as was sold to us! This has been a nightmare, and a totally dysfunctional appliance that should have lasted longer than 5 years!
Our long and tortuous experience began in 2013 and continues to this day. But Ill just give the headlines. In August 2013 we bought Whirlpool BTM French Door KFIS20XVMS11 from Lowes. Three years later we learned that model number appeared on the attached recall notice which had been issued just days before our unit was delivered in September. Neither Lowes nor Whirlpool notified us of this recall which described a simple repair to a part that was leaking so slowly that its effects took three years to show up in a destroyed floor and cabinet enclosure that will cost $2981 (and still rising) to repair. We called AIG, the company behind the extended warranty provider, and they responded promptly by dispatching a Whirlpool factory authorized service technician who attempted unsuccessfully to drag the unit from its alcove over the warped, erupted floor beneath. With the refrigerator half-way out of its enclosure, the technician stopped and asked us to sign a waiver of liability. When we refused, he announced that the problem was water damage and he jammed the unit back into place, leaving dents in both doors and the freezer drawer below. We went to Lowes, who strung us along for several months before sending an engineer whose report concluded that the problem was a manufacturers defect (The Lowes engineer and his associate damaged the unit further when they forced it back into place over a floor made more uneven when they removed the pieces of rotted oak shown in the accompanying photo.). Based upon the engineers report, which Lowes said it had no duty to share, we were given a 1-800 number for Whirlpool customer service, with assurance that we would be taken care of. Although we had to start from cold without the engineers report, Whirlpool customer service was initially very accommodating and gave us hope. For a moment, I thought we were going to get resolution. They assigned a case number and we supplied the requested documentation. That was on a Friday in March, 2017.Monday we were surprised to receive a sternly worded notice from the Whirlpool Law Department that a clerk there would be taking over our case. We realized that we were far from resolution. Why did the Law Department intervene? We dont know. We guess it may be because they want to avoid a class action lawsuit on behalf of possibly thousands of leaky refrigerator owners (Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Maytag, Jenn-Air and Amana units were all among the affected). In any case, since January we have been monkey-in-the middle among Whirlpools various departments, Lowes various departments and AIG, with no progress. What do we want? We just want things back the way they were before our leaky refrigerator did its damage and before Lowes and Whirlpool demolished our good as new looking KitchenAid refrigerator in the process of telling us they wont fix it.Footnote: We purchased all new KitchenAid Architect series appliances in August/September 2013, including top of line cooktop, dishwasher, convection microwave, convection oven and a French door cabinet depth refrigerator. Every unit except the cooktop has required warranty service, including five expensive electronic parts replacements. Fortunately we bought extended warranty service from KitchenAid/AIG, who have been terrific to deal with on the parts replacements. I dont recommend Whirlpool appliances but if you are intent on buying them, I do highly recommend extended warranties. As for the value of Whirlpools manufacturers warranty, watch this space. Ill be back with the final resolution.
Purchased Whirlpool Dishwasher 1 year ago. I use the Dishwasher once a week. When the Dishwasher was originally installed, immediately I noticed when dishes were placed the racks, there is an annoying squeaking sound. I am not exaggerating but the noise can be heard from my sidewalk outside! I called Whirlpool and a technician was sent to my residence. There is nothing wrong with your Dishwasher. I was told to Grease the racks. One year later I still have the same issue! I placed the phone near the Dishwasher to have the Customer Service Rep hear the Loud Squeaking and to no avail. I will never ever buy another product from Whirlpool. Now the latch will not close to the door! I rarely use this appliance, only placing dishes and utensils. No Pots and Pans!!!!! This is going to be another huge bill I will be responsible for paying and I dont feel it is of my own doing. It seems to be apparent that Whirlpool does not stand by their products!!!! I am sure they are aware of all these issues, customers are complaining and nothing seems to be done from reading some of these posts. I am wondering why they are still in business.
Another reviewer complained about a knocking sound upon startup. My Brand New fridge has been doing that and I have just ignored it. Maybe I shouldnt. Compared to our original Beaumark fridge, the Whirlpool is VERY NOISY.. Since the actual workings seem fine, I am not complaining but rather quite concerned.Especially after reading the numerous Negative Reviews.
Purchased new Whirlpool 2-door, side by side refrigerator from Standards store in December 2010 for close to TT$10,000. For 2-3 years, it made a very loud noise. Each time it cut off that disturbed my peace and quiet. I complained, to no avail. In early 2015 or thereabouts I began experiencing severe warming problems in the non-freezer compartment and, since that time, I have suffered large losses from spoilage. The warming coincides with over-freezing (icicles, thick frost formation and whirling, dense cold air) in the freezer compartment and icing up of the vents in the non-freezer section. Moreover, the cool air flows from the top vent only when the freezer door is left open. Since that time Ive only been able to marginally cool the non-freezer section by unplugging for up to an entire day, at least once per week. I believe this is a manufacturing flaw rendering the non-freezer section not fit for its purpose although it manifested itself sometime after purchase. My prior experience with another brand has been totally different (13 years and still working). It is totally frustrating. It is also unsafe since spoilage is sometimes difficult to detect. Here, we have to deal with the seller and that is often a hopeless situation, particularly outside of the warranty, as has been my experience with another household appliance. Ive been advised by independent technicians who reportedly have encountered this problem that the solution lies in boring a hole connecting the two compartments which then enables efficient cooling of the non-freezer compartment. Quite frankly, I would like to have the refrigerator replaced despite the fact that it is outside of the warranty.
I regret buying this washer. No complaint about the dryer but this washer has been the worst investment I have ever made. My clothes gets tangled up - seems like theyre not as clean as with my old washer which by the way I still have. I wanted a bigger set because I hated spending days off doing laundry but I spend as much time rewashing again and getting clothes untangled.
We purchased a Whirlpool Dishwasher from the Home Depot, it was installed 3-28-2015, less than 30 days ago. On 4-21-2015 the dishwasher stopped working. I called Home Depot expecting a replacement; but we were told you have 48 hours; you need to contact Whirlpool, due to the CRAP warranty. I called Whirlpool, we were told that a TECH would need to come out and address. They came today, ** , told us that the Motor is bad. (NOTE I havent made a payment on this dishwasher). So we called Whirlpool, expecting they would replace. I spoke to ** who advised me they would not replace, only repair. I explained this is unacceptable for a new product. I demanded to speak to her Manager; Spoke to ** who said the same. I asked to speak to her manager, his name is ** , but HE DOES NOT DEAL WITH THE CONSUMERS, this is beneath his job class I was told. So NOW I have no choice but to have this Dishwasher repaired; it will take over 2 weeks to get the part. I just dont understand how this is good Customer service. It is the worst I have ever experienced.
It was obviously designed by someone who has never had to clean a refrigerator. There are grooves in the door gaskets seemingly making their sole purpose to collect crumbs and mold with no obvious way to keep them clean (No, Q-tips dont do it). A layer of ice forms below the basket in the freezer (bottom freezer) which, when it melts, soaks the kitchen floor. Ice must be chipped out at least every two weeks to avoid flooding.
I have a Whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer combo. Recently, I have learned that the washer has a very common problem with the water pump. I have read amazing amount of complaints about this problem and apparently the company has nothing to say about this. The cost for parts and labor for replacing this pump is about $400.00, almost half the cost of the unit. This is unreal!
After reading all of these reviews, Im not surprised at the negative comments. My husband and I owned a Whirlpool washer and dryer for 25 years prior to them both dying the same summer four years ago. I absolutely would not purchase anything but another set of Whirlpool washer and dryer because of the longevity of our previous set.We bought the Cabrio set 4 years ago this summer. After two years, we discovered it had a slow leak at the back hot water valve and underneath it somewhere when it spun and it had slowly leaked under the wall into our living room which eventually caused our hardwood floors to buckle. We had to replace the flooring in that section at a cost I will not even say and had a repairman come out and fix the lid lock, leak where for some reason there wasnt a washer in the valve area, underneath and the problem with the spin cycle. This was at a cost of around $200.00. Of course our one year warranty had run out. The next year it did the SAME THING AGAIN!!! Although we caught it quicker, we STILL had to replace a small section of hardwood flooring and have the machine repaired yet again at the tune of approximately $200.00. Now, as I type, our machine has yet again flooded our laundry room one year later and I will have to call a repairman in the morning yet again! Its becoming an annual and costly thing!!!I came across this site while looking to see if by chance this machine had been recalled and we would be able to get another one at no cost since we have already paid a fortune for the errors it has caused. I will be reporting to the Better Business Bureau and writing YET ANOTHER letter to the Whirlpool company with the hopes that they will recall this machine!! If enough people protest and report this shoddy workmanship, maybe they will!!!
I purchased a Whirlpool Refrigerator Model GB2FHDXWB07 a little over 2 years ago. The first one did not work properly within 6 hours of being turned on. Every few minutes it sounded like the compressor was trying to kick on so it hummed then shut off. Best Buy wanted to fix it but after much arguing with them and Whirlpool they brought me a new refrigerator. Now, the same thing is happening. Best Buy has no record of me purchasing it and Whirlpool has no record of me registering the warranty, which would be outdated anyway (over 1 measly year). So, they offered me a Repair and one year warranty $329.95 which means Im now up to about $1500 for a basic refrigerator that has not even lasted 2 1/2 years. The other option to fix it is to pay a local company $90 for the trip and diagnosis plus parts and labor. That will be around $550 depending on how fast the technician works. I will never buy another Whirlpool anything. My washer and dryer also have had problems but I wont even go into that here. The one good thing is the poor girl who took my call was very nice and acted as if this is a regular occurrence. Good luck if you buy a Whirlpool. They are garbage.
We got a deal on our stove/dishwasher combination, establishing a payment plan upon purchase. And as a bonus, when you have a brand name appliance like Whirlpool, that made us more secure with the purchase.
Im glad to see that Im not the only one that is dissatisfied with Whirlpools products. Three weeks ago I found my basement to be flooded and you could tell that it was from the hot water heater that was installed in 2005. The plumber changed the release valve. I thought that was it. This past Wednesday I go down the basement and find another flood. The plumber said pilot was not lit. The explanation was wind could have come down the chimney and blew out the pilot. Pilot was relighted and within 12 hours there’s cold water again. I called the plumber again and said that the thermal coupling must have gone bad. I went to Lowe’s to get a replacement and found that Whirlpool is sending a free replacement but I would have to pay shipping. All well and good, but what do I do in the meantime for hot water? If Whirlpool made a mistake, why didnt they send the replacement parts to the businesses that sell their products? I guess that would be the simple solution; instead, they expect me to pay $30.00 for shipping and be without hot water. Well, let me tell you: Im tired of this hot water heater. Whirlpool can go out of business for all I care because they dont stand behind their products. Im going to buy myself a Rheem and Im sure Ill be a lot happier. Need a new hot water heater? Don’t get a Whirlpool!
We bought the WDF330PAHB1 Whirlpool Dishwasher from Lowes last year. It is a terrible dishwasher. It does not wash or dry the plastic dishes well and has a continued foul spoiled milk smell despite many cleanings with dishwasher cleaning tablets. I use Cascade and Finish rinse aid. My china and glassware are fine and it is a quiet unit but this gook I have to keep cleaning up is gross. I clean the removable filter and screen 2-3x a week but the stuff gets on and in every place it can cling to. Its a greasy, smelly muck. Its in both water jets, so I have to constantly remove them and bang the stuff out. We pre-rinse our dishes (which Ive never had to do before) but still this slime keeps building up. Do not buy this machine. I wish I could give mine back!
We owned our Whirlpool Gold refrigerator GS6SHEXNL00 for 23 months when our electronic control board went out resulting in the light and interior temp display to go out. I called Whirlpool and they told me the control board was not under warranty. I subsequently replaced the board at cost of $156. This morning, 7 years from when I bought the fridge, the control board went bad again. Amazon now has a replacement board W10135090 for $67. There are thousands of complaints regarding the Whirlpool electronic control board, which Whirlpool just ignores. This should be a recall item. I will not buy another Whirlpool product.
I feel the Whirlpool washer we have Works amazing. Its an older model and Im still happy with it. It does big loads without having to do it over again or on balancing itself. I have actually had a Samsung washer and we constantly had issues with it - sensor problems and was not very user-friendly at times. I also feel that a lot of the newer washers out there are cheaply made plastic parts and can break easily. Too many companies cutting Corners these days.
Purchased Whirlpool gas hot water heater from LOWES on 9/25/2016. After the installation, tried to light the pilot light for 90 minutes. Followed the recommended instructions, I could not get it to light. Called LOWES they told me to call Whirlpool. I did so, and told them I will return the heater to LOWES the next day. Whirlpool customer service very bad. Returned the heater to LOWES the next morning, went to a local plumbing shop and purchased a Rheem heater. After installation it lit very first attempt. Now three weeks later I get a letter in mail from collection agency that LOWES turned me in for stopping payment on the check I wrote them. After reading the many negative reviews and they disregard for my and my familys safety, nobody should purchase a Whirlpool gas heater from LOWES.
The problem started with an error code F3F1 on dryer. Called A & E Factory Service who is company that are certified Whirlpool technicians. They have been out 7 times, March 26, April 1, April 8, April 13, April 27, May 5 and May 12. During those times they ordered and replaced the main control board 3 times and a thermistor for which we paid for parts and labor. The company now says they think we have a lemon and we are supposed to hear back within 48 hours whether we are going to be refunded a total of $504.48 we have advanced for repairs less the service call. They referred us back to Whirlpool and said they would no longer come out as the dryer cannot be repaired! Talked to Whirlpool customer service that says we didnt have an extended warranty and there is nothing they can or will do. This dryer was purchased on 12/31/11. They took the position that because there is no recall for defective parts for this model, there is nothing they will do. Attached is our purchase receipt and all service invoices regarding this matter.
I recently purchased a Whirlpool Slide in Oven replacing my Amana stove of 15 years. My Amana was a very basic model, and I thought this WP was an upgrade. But it is so poorly made its ridiculous. First of all the bottom storage drawer, is so flimsy, it does not slide out easily, and the top lip doesnt even have a finished edge. Additionally there is a 1 inch gap between the top of the drawer and the bottom of the stove door. But the BIGGEST disappointment was the oven racks, totally flimsy. We used a Lodge Dutch Oven (which we have used many times with our old stove) and the oven rack sagged under the weight. Had I known I would have pulled the racks from my old stove. I contacted that seller about these issues, and they said they are ALL like that even the higher end ones, and I contacted Whirlpool to see if I could buy better quality racks and they said no, this is all they have.
It never seems to clean the dishes and it runs for 3 1/2 hrs. It is suppose to have all these Features but does a very bad cleaning job. I have used liquid soap, the cascade pods and the jet dry, still gives very poor results. Use to have a Kitchenaid that lasted almost 30 years - great appliance...
Our hot water heater (Whirlpool Mod # BFG1F404053NOV) stopped working. I called the Whirlpool help line and was advised to change the thermocouple as they had been having issues with this particular model. I was advised to go to Lowes, where we had purchased the heater, to get a new thermocouple at no charge to us. After changing the thermocouple, guess what? It still didnt work. I went back to Lowes and they replaced the heater, at no charge to us (they were great during this whole ordeal so no knocks against Lowes). Well, one year later, it’s the same issue. The pilot light will not stay lit. It’s very frustrating as it never goes out at an opportune time. In the past, the name Whirlpool ensured you were getting a quality product. I guess that’s not true anymore.
Bought the model before this just over 2 years. Conveniently it broke just after the warranty expired. I chose not to buy a extended warranty as my last fridge from KitchenAid is over 20 years old and never had a single problem with and still operates like NEW. I can’t say that for my Whirlpool which was very expensive. It has been with an issue within the ice maker for over 8 months. Every computer board has been replaced twice with no fix. Then tried to replace the cooling fan within the ice maker unit seven times. Whirlpool could not find the right part, as the wiring had changed mid model and have no record of when it was changed and what models affected.Certified Whirlpool technician was great and so apologetic. I had taken 7 Mondays off to meet him to only have the wrong part time and time again. Whirlpool support tech line basically said he was wrong, yet I witnessed all visits and my 3 plug fan unit did not match Whirlpools newer part that was 2 plugs. I was not happy missing so much work because Whirlpool is incompetent. Finally my tech ordered a whole new ice maker, including the cooling fan. Lo and behold, Eighth time, parts did not match. He again called Whirlpool tech support and reordered another set one final time. Another Monday to find that this time the parts did fit, but cooling fan still did not work. He called Whirlpool tech support again. They started to trace wires one by one.Whirlpool tech support said it was a bad or broken wire somewhere in the cavity of the fridge buried in insulation and was not replaceable. In other words I have a $3000+ refrigerator that is useless. Whirlpool said they would replace the unit. But when I called, they said since I didnt have an extended warranty, they would prorate it and it’s going to cost me over $1000 of my money to to replace due to a manufacturer wiring defect after only 2 years. What the Heck, I was willing to pay to fix it, but Whirlpool can’t fix it. Don’t buy a Whirlpool product as they are Junk and do not stand behind their BRAND!!! No matter who I talked to, they kept falling back to their word track of it’s my fault I didn’t get an expensive extended warranty, yet they can’t fix a wire they installed incorrectly.Wires don’t just break after 2 years. You get longer warranties for cars for the Love of God. I asked them to just send me the money they were willing to put towards a new Whirlpool fridge, so I could buy a Real Brand that stands behind their products like KitchenAid. Of course the answer was NO. Buyer Beware, don’t buy a Whirlpool anything. Did I mention my Whirlpool certified technician was having a Whirlpool dishwasher issue that Whirlpool can’t fix and that’s his profession. Same type of response. Don’t Buy Whirlpool Products, they are Junk and you will get No support from Whirlpool!!!
Not digital. Was supposed to be a quiet running machine but it really wasnt too quiet. Its cycles were well timed. Was supposed to be energy star certified, but I have to say that I felt it could have been more efficient. It was a new dishwasher in 2007, but we sold our house & moved since then & currently we have no dishwasher. :( If I had to choose, it would be a Whirlpool, GE, or LG. Easy to use even though not digital. Hot dry or air dry, plus several cycles to choose from. All easy to maneuver through. Standard size, fit under countertop, replacing an older one. I do have to say that it did stick out slightly farther than I would have liked. It was black & easy to clean. The buttons & knobs were black as well. It fit in well with our newly remodeled kitchen. It replaced an older dishwasher that had given out. The dish racks in it were spaced great & the wash ability was great - you didnt have to have an empty space in the middle of the racks which provided more space for dishes. It was also large enough on the bottom rack that I could fit pots & pans in it, even cookie sheets. Many dishwashers dont allow for this. The one thing I would have liked better is if the silverware rack was in the door, once again providing even more space in the rack for dishes.
WHIRLPOOL WASHER FOR SALE! Your clothes will come out just a bit dirty, but thats OK isnt it? (You can see for yourself.) Oh yeah the Smell. OMG, its a heavenly Wet Dog smell. I know youll be as happy as I am with this WHIRLPOOL CABRIO WASHER. I almost forgot to mention, that most clothes will come out dry (not because of the high power spinning cycle) so youll save on your power bill, since you’re not using the dryer... This is a must have WHIRLPOOL CABRIO WASHER - NEW, ENERGY EFFICIENT. Youll use little to no water, another savings! But youll spend a wee bit more for the HE detergent, sorry! Oh yeah I forgot to mention its still under WHIRLPOOL 1 YEAR WARRANTY. Youll BE GLAD YOU PURCHASED THIS WONDERFUL MACHINE... Just as I am! :-)Back ground & Information about problems: A) We purchased the Cabrio Model# WTW5840BW0 washer 8 months ago and it has been nothing but trouble. And yes Im very busy in the summer - always on the go with school, kids, vacation, homework, finals, and work, etc. For the past 2.5 months. Started off by not spinning out, first problem. Does not fill up on deep washer cycle. Clothes come out as dirty as when I put them in. I have pictures. Some clothes never get wet; no water touches them (Small/Large loads). Now whites are coming out with yellow blotches on them. The clothes smell like Wet Dog - yes wet dog. Ive used the Powerball cleaner three times in 8 months. Yes, a service man has been out. He recalibrated everything. Now it’s worse. He is/has ordered ALL new computer parts, and I do mean ALL. If you need to replace every computer part on a brand new machine, I feel as if this alone, is a red flag… Wouldnt you agree?Im not happy with your Whirlpool Cabrio Washer and no longer want this washer. Maybe a different one, but not this one! It has been nothing but a headache. What can be done? Ive called Whirlpool USA 4-5 time being on endless hold @ the 800-253-1301 number and finally today is the first time talking to a rep. The young man was nice; however Im still no closer to getting this machine fixed today! Ugh. I would not recommend the CABRIO WASHER to anyone at this point. You can understand, cant you? B) Sad ;-( I had to tell my husband he was right and I was wrong about the new washer, and not to mention the smell he has been complaining about. Yuck...Explanation: I had washed towels in the new WHIRLPOOL and did not get around to folding them. Then after washing last night outside (yes outside) in the ole GE. I was folding the towels and happened to pick up the first set washed (Whirlpool); put them to my face and sniffed, yuck! WET DOG came to mind. Then sniffed the ones washed in the GE and he was right. I was wrong! Ugh... A $800+ Whirlpool is in the laundry room yet, Im outside on the deck - again yes Im hanging out with the mosquitoes on our deck washing clothes with the good ole GE. (It’s outside because it need a shutoff switch, or something like that.) Lesson learned the expensive way, dont buy a computerized Whirlpool washer. Its money down the drain... Needless to say Im not happy at all with this product.
I installed this Whirlpool Gold Series oven in December just before Christmas. I cooked a 9lbs Turkey for over 4hrs at 350 degrees (it should have only taken 21/2 hrs at 325) used a thermometer to test the temp. Well the breast part was fine but later in the evening I removed the entire turkey only to find that the legs, thighs and bottom of the turkey was still RAW. Lucky no one had asked for that part of the turkey. Next I tried a small prime rib roast. Same thing happened. The top of the roast was fine and the bottom was RAW. I dont dare cook anything in the oven now. Called whirlpool and they are going to send someone to look at it but I wont hold my breath for any results. After reading the same complaint on several reviews and the TV show Marketplace it seems to be pretty standard for this product.
Bought washer, it broke down after 1 year. Repair man could not fix for less than $500. Told him he could have it and fix it and sell it. He turned me down. This week went and bought new washer. Told store they could take my washer and he said No. He told me any Whirlpool washer made in the last 2 years break down and cost more to fix than a new one. That I found out to be true. He showed me plastic circuit board not meant to last. They ripped off a very nice senior citizen. Thanks to my son for going and getting me a new washer. Shame on you, Whirlpool.
The top of the range stays very hot. Not the burners -- just the top of the stove itself. Now the oven pilot wont light and there doesnt seem to be any sound or smell of gas when I try, though the range works fine.
DO NOT BUY THIS DISHWASHER (Whirlpool Gold Series dishwasher)!!! We bought a camp with this dishwasher in it brand new. It has been serviced three times in the past year because the dishes (especially utensils) do not dry. The service company first said it was because I needed to use jet dry. What a joke! I told them I was using jet dry so they sent a service man out. He had to read a manual in order to try and figure out what was wrong with it. He then decided the entire motherboard needed replacing and he would order the part. He came back, replaced the part and it still did not fix the problem.I called again to complain so they sent another service man out and he said the drying air vent may not be working. They came back out to replace it weeks later because the part was on back order. Wonder Why??? I still have to dry the utensils every time I run the dishwasher. The interior walls of the dishwasher are wet even after running through the drying cycle. Either this dishwasher is a lemon or Whirlpool is selling a dishwasher that does not dry to the consumers!!! So BEWARE!!!
I purchased a washer and dryer set, the Cabrio Platinum Series WTW8500BRO, about 3 years ago. I had a UL code come up a year ago and the machine was serviced and all was back to normal. Then only 9 months later it started acting up again. This time it sounds like an airplane taking off and there is a black spatter leaking from underneath, also the lid lock stopped engaging. I started to look up the error code for the lid lock and while reviewing that issue it was an easy fix, however, the noise and black spatter issue led me to tons of horrible reviews about this product. It is a bearing/tub/shaft issue that is going to cost me $500 to fix. First off I did not pay cash for this set, I rented it for 3 years and paid twice what it’s worth, around $4,000. Stupid on my part but I couldn’t afford it the other way. Weekly payments were easier. Now I am scared to fix this product because of all the reviews I’ve seen from other consumers. I haven’t had the other issues like dirty clothes, not enough water, high cycle times because they all start with a high number but after it configured the load the time shrinks, but this major issue about the bearings, they say I have to replace the entire tub assembly which is half the cost of the unit. So stupid and I cannot believe Whirlpool is getting away with this crap. Please please please inform me about any lawsuits. I will gladly participate in that. They should be held accountable for such a worthless piece of junk. Like I said I am now afraid to fix this machine because from what I’m reading, more than likely it will only last a short time.
Whirl Pool Duet Wash WFW9400SW - I had this washer for 5-1/2 years. I use it about 3 times a month. Warranty ran out this last February. Machine stopped working. Called tech and he came and said I need a new console and power board. Two weeks later I get told they dont make it anymore and sorry about your luck. I used this washer under 200 times in 5 and half years. Whirlpool offered nothing and I will never buy a Whirlpool product again.
I have used my Maytag washing machine weekly for the last 11 years... Never a problem. Just a well made, basic machine to wash clothes thoroughly. It does not have all the bells and whistles some of the newer models have, but it is a washing machine, not a video game.
Rust started forming early on our washer and spread quickly. Our house is air conditioned and not near the ocean. There was no reason for the rust. Poor quality finishing is the only explanation. When I called to complain I got nowhere. I wish I could show a photo on this website. It would dissuade anyone from ever buying a whirlpool.
We bought the microwave new after the 2011 flood where we had lost everything in Tennessee. I wanted to get Whirlpool appliances in the kitchen so all appliances were replaced. We bought a Whirlpool model WMH1163XVU-1 microwave; the unit will run but doesnt heat. I also called Whirlpool and with no regard to customer service at all even with all the complaints... This saddens me because I will never buy a Whirlpool appliance again and my grandparents only believed in them... With all the complaints, the attorney generals office should do something for the people.
Im very satisfied with the looks and performance of my Whirlpool dishwasher, it is quiet enough that I put it on to wash before going to bed. It is that quiet. Im not happy about the way it was installed, but that is no fault of the dishwasher or Whirlpool, it works great even though it sits kind of crooked in the cabinet. The dishes are always sparkling clean and dry when it is done washing.
I have been using Whirlpool brand of appliances for over 40 years. They have always served me well and very dependable. Im a semi retired HVAC contractor and also installed Whirlpool heating and air conditioning systems in peoples home, also very satisfied with the results.
I bought a Whirlpool water heater not even 3 years ago, and I am already replacing parts; thermostat, thermocouple, and as of yet, no fix. We contacted Whirlpool, and they said that everything has been tried, and if the thermocouple doesnt fix it, well have to hire a plumber at our expense. Its kinda ridiculous. The water heater that we replaced, had been in the home for almost 17 years. This one didnt even make it to 4.
My microwave came with my house. I didnt choose it but it has been a great brand. I love the preset timers for defrosting & for popcorn. Its big enough to handle an 8x8 pan which was important to me. The turntable could be more stable. My model is a built in over the oven option. Black & digital. It has lots of preset options & is pretty user friendly. I like the size & it is super quiet.
My husband and I purchased a Whirlpool over the range microwave in 2005, model number MIX155XHPT-1 and serial number TR S 30 32419. At first the top vent broke then the opening side broke off. Then the whole side of the closing door broke off. Now the whole door wants to fall off. I would have never expected this from Whirlpool, but it happened.
There are plenty of reviews on this board already about how the so called AquaLift technology for oven cleaning is completely worthless so I wont repeat what they have already so eloquently described. AquaLift has managed to take us back in time to around 1947 or whenever it was before the old easy off oven cleaner was invented. I purchased the cleaning kit (affinity) as well but it doesnt do much of anything. The only people who might consider purchasing a stove with AquaLift are those who do no roasting or broiling of meat. The oven looks beautiful, so maybe it could be for those who enjoy a show kitchen and prefer takeout.
Own Whirlpool GB2FHDXWS04 refrigerator for 14 months. From the beginning, the ice maker made gross tasting ice and never got better (had to start buying ice). Then a smell started coming from the fridge every time the fan came on. We called before the warranty was up and talked to Whirlpool, and they said that we must have put something smelly in the fridge that caused the plastic to absorb the smell (which we didnt). They told us to put baking soda in and change it everyday. No change. They kept telling us there is no way it could be giving off a smell for any other reason and if they sent a tech out, we would have to pay for it. Trying to intimidate us until the warranty was up. Then after a month or so, the bottom mount freezer starts leaking water all over the wood floors every 3 days. At first we turned off the water line, but then realized it is coming when the freezer defrosts. One good thing, the freezer, from the beginning, knocked really loud and now that its leaking it doesnt knock. We spent $1,200 just over a year ago and will probably have to go purchase a new one now. I will tell you it will never be another Whirlpool product. Whirlpool has not apologized or done anything but say, Now your warranty is up, you should have bought the extended warranty. Great customer care! With all these same complaints, you would think Whirlpool would figure the problem is their inferior product (which they know) and actually take responsibility.
I purchased my Cabrio a little over three years ago. Within the first month, the computer board had to be replaced and the tech informed me that it was not a malfunction in the unit; rather, it was because I did not have a sock bag for my socks and panties. I replaced the board, bought a sock bag and had no problems for about 1.5 years. A little over a year ago, the un-level started. I did research and found that I needed to replace the rods and add couplers as they were not thought of when the unit was created. This worked for an entire month. Now, I am in the same position again. It takes about 6 tries per load and the amount of water I am using is increasing with each failed attempt to wash. There should be a recall on this product. I notice there are many other complaints that match my frustrations exactly.
My refrigerator is 6 months old and already has rust and leaks. I am told it is because I live too close to the beach. Do not buy their sub-par products which come along with absolutely awful customer service. Will never purchase anything Whirlpool again.
I purchased a Whirlpool Duet HE front end loading washing machine. Less than two years after purchase, the machines tub and bearings failed amounting to a repair bill of $1035.00. Fortunately for me, or so I thought, I purchased an extended warranty for the machine. However, even though the complaint department was aware of the failure, the amount of the repair and the fact that I declined repair and was opting for the $500 reimbursement option, I was told that the claim, as it was called, would take 2-3 business days to process and if I was awarded (his words) the reimbursement, I could only use this money on a new machine at a Sears store and not on any new, but previous year model, or at a Sears outlet. None of these things were related to me when they took my $214.00 for the warranty. In all, my original washing machine of 22 months will have cost me $1414.00. My new washing machine, if awarded one, will cost approximately $400. The total cost to wash clothes for 10 months will exceed $1,800.00. Do not purchase Whirlpool front end loaders because the drum bearings will break (that is why they exclude them from extended warranties) and do not buy extended warranties as Sears makes out in the end.
Its just a plain refrigerator. No bells and whistles. It could have more space in the bottom and well as a ice machine or ice maker. Nothing special about it. Just a place to keep food. The light in top could be higher so food does not touch it.
It works extremely well. My wife and I have had it for several several years and no problems with it and it cleans the dishes very well. We really like the silverware holder. The right size for a family. Recommend it to anyone.
I owned the Whirlpool washer for 13 months until it quit. Menards was no help with anything. I am going tomorrow to get to try my luck with Samsung.
We purchased a 4.8 Cu FT High Efficiency Front Load Washer in February of 2016. What a nightmare. Just a few months after having it, we kept getting an E3 error message that would not go away. After 2 weeks of waiting before a tech could come out there replaced a door mechanism said it would be fine. After the next wash same thing, same problem. Could not even open the door to get my laundry out. Again they could not get a tech out for at least 2 weeks so Im stuck with the cost of getting my laundry done elsewhere. This time it was the motherboard. Had to wait a week for that to be shipped out. This was all completed in June 2016. We are now the beginning of September and same problem. Again we are told at least 1-2 weeks to get a tech out. Seriously Whirlpool, we are your customer. I have a family and we need to wash our clothes. We spent $1200 on this machine only to have to take our laundry to a public laundry mat because your machine keeps breaking down. They will not replace the machine even though this is the 3rd time with the same problem. The customer service is horrible. They are not willing to help in any way to get this fixed much sooner for her or give us a new machine. This one is obviously a lemon! I will never purchase any Whirlpool appliance again and I suggest based on some of the reviews on here no one does. Next appliance I buy I will do more research for sure.
I purchased dishwasher model #GU2800XTVT0 in May of 2009. Today, it leaked water all over and damaged my floor. My husband pulled the dishwasher out of the cabinet and found that the motor had fallen off. It did not have a bracket to hold it in place and worked loose, which then disconnected a hose. I called the customer service but they wont do anything because it is beyond the 12 month warranty. It only lasted slightly more than two years. This is obviously a manufacturing defect and we were just unlucky enough that it failed after the warranty had expired. The most ironic thing is that my husband worked for Whirlpool for 20 years. There is no loyalty here.
In July I purchased a Whirlpool Gold oven and cooktop from Lowe’s. It was delivered in Aug. after a 5 wk wait, since it had to be ordered. Since installation, the hot surface light on the cooktop stays on. I called in & was told to try resetting the elec. breaker. Did that... still stays on. Model G7CE3034XB00, Serial D43005649. On Sept. 4th I called & spoke to Carrie (I believe in TN) who told me she would try to find a service tech in my area & would get back to me in 3-5 days. Apx. 5 days later she called & left a message on my cell phone stating that she could not locate a service tech in my area. I would need to find my own service tech & submit any invoices to the resource dept for reimbursement. Parts could be ordered at no charge. I have nothing in writing from the company to confirm I would be reimbursed, nor was I told how to correspond with the resource dept in the event I had an invoice to submit for reimbursement.Today, Sept. 18th, 2014, I called Whirlpool again (800-253-1301) & talked to Stephanie in Michigan. She told me the same info. When I asked to be sent a wiring schematic I was told I didnt need one. When I asked how to get in touch with the resource dept. I was given a fax no. & email acct. When I asked how I was supposed to get in touch if I didnt have either, she said I should go to the local library. Now lets imagine for a moment that I am disabled or live so far out in the country that I cannot get to the library... How am I supposed to get to a fax or email acct. Has anyone at Whirlpool considered that? This is a new appliance under full warranty, yet it has become my job to find a service tech, pay up front, & wait for reimbursement. REALLY??? I am also in the market for a new dishwasher & you can bet it wont be a Whirlpool!
Purchased Black Ice French Door refrigerator in December 6, 2012. Used warranty first year due to loud noise & replaced whole back panel in top part. They seemed to know it was a design flaw. Thought all would be well. Purchased extended warranty for second year and did not need so did not extend again. Now it has been 2 years and 7 months and the ice maker had to be shut off due to water running down outside. The refrigerator is no longer cold enough--60 Degrees (too warm) and freezer door would not close all the way (had to duct tape it shut). I certainly expected it to last longer than that for a $2300 fridge. The old Kenmore was 15 years old and still worked. After reading all these reviews it is time for a class action lawsuit! We have to buy another now but it wont be Whirlpool!
Whirlpool wsv07 psl satina - I bought my whirlpool, two-door whirlpool ref last Jan 2013. Just few days before the warranty expires, I had prob with gasket on lower door. And now six months after the warranty expires, the freezer is not working and wont make ice anymore... and I will be charge 400php for check up. Reading on other reviews, I bet I am buying a disposable appliance from whirlpool. The national ref of my sis been a service to her for more than 10 years and its still going good. Our GE ref prior to whirlpool serve as for 19 years.... but this brand sucks.
Our son-in-law bought us this Range. Before it was even a few months old the oven handle melted off, we called Whirlpool they sent a repairman to fix it. Now it is three years old, the same exact problem with the broiler handle. There should be a recall on this part, why in the world would a manufacturer use plastic for handles to begin with. Yes I can replace the part myself for $37.57 plus all other added fees but its not right nor fair when its a faulty part to begin with. My one and only new stove is actually a pain.
I purchased a Gold Star Whirlpool Refrigerator from Sears which was installed on July 1, 2010. The freezer was icing up along seams, so sealant was used. However, now I noticed after 14 months that the interior refrigerators lining is fracturing throughout the sides and bottom of the refrigerator. Not at seams but all over fractures, spanning 10 to 3 to 2 on the bottom and side of the interior lining of the refrigerator.Sears answer is more sealant, and Whirlpool does not take any responsibility in designing a defective liner since it is pass the one year time frame. This causes your refrigerator to be on more often, because of the cracks. Unfortunately, the consumer loses out. Both representatives were nasty and when I asked for a supervisor from Whirlpool, an incident report was written, however I will not ever be able to get a copy of it. It will be considered an internal document. It is a great setup between Whirlpool and Sears having defective appliances made to last a year, and Sears to win with warranty agreements for the life of your appliance of $250, for one year coverage. When you buy the warranty and have a lemon, Sears doesnt replace it, My suggestion to consumers is to buy a tube of sealant.
Called Whirlpool about fridge and they stated Too bad its out of warranty. The sides are getting pitted. It is a stainless with black sides. The condo is always air conditioned. It is two years old. Not very long to have a $1200 fridge look terrible. However, the fridge works fine.
We bought a Whirlpool cook stove with a black top in 2009 and this year, in 2011, while cooking a pot of stew, the stove top burner began to make loud popping sounds. When I went to check it out, there was smoke coming out from under the pan and pieces of glass that had exploded out in small chunks. When calling the customer service line at Whirlpool, they told us that it was no longer under warranty and could not be of help. Their only explanation was that they would only cover a new stove top if it had cracked or broken this way when putting a cold pot on a hot burner. They said their technician could tell if this was why the shards of glass were exploded from the burner.
They will not honor the extended warranty on their fridge which Ive had for less than three years which will not defrost making me lose thousands in spoiled food. Extended warranties are contracts and this company should be penalized and shut down for fraud.
Have had this Whirlpool for 17 years at least. Only issue we’ve had with it was the ice maker that went out after about 14 years. There is plenty of space in the door. A place that holds cans, 2 shelves that go across the door, a small shelf and a butter shelf with a lid over it. Nice looking too.
I have had our new Whirlpool Cabrio Washer for about a year. I absolutely hate it. I along with all the other people that is complaining about their Cabrio. I have found it to stain my clothes, not get them clean... Sometimes not even get part of them wet. I wash every load now no matter how small on the deep water option. I still have to add about 3 to 6 gals of water after it fills to try to help them get as clean as I possible can. I have stopped using fabric softener because I believe that is what may be leaving the stains on the clothes because it doesnt dilute it. Also you cant soak clothes in the washer long enough. I know it offers a presoak but when the clothes are not getting wet... That is not soaking. I tried to fill it up and raise the lid so it wouldnt wash until I was ready for it to wash but it automatically emptied the tub after a short time.It is funny watching the clothes when washing... Even I could tell they were not going to be washed well. I thought who in the world developed this washer. Certainly no one that had ever really considered what women need to wash clothes on a daily basis. I would sell it but I dont think anyone would buy it. If there is a class action suit I would consider joining in. Whirlpool could not have spent much effort in checking this washer out. A lot of money down the drain. I did not buy the dryer because of the lint vent being on top of it. What a mess those make when you have to empty it. So I purchased a Maytag Bravos XL. Now that is a wonderful dryer! As one homemaker to another I suggest you check it out. Never had one I liked more.
I am questioning my loyalty because the last two Whirlpool fridges have been repair prone, and have bad design issues for ice dispensing. The dispenser door doesn’t close reliably and lets the ice maker warm up and melts the ice. This supports my rating.
I purchased a Whirlpool duet front load washer on 21 Apr 10 and it has experienced a major failure. It needs a new rear tub and basket, and the parts alone costs $700. The machine is barely four months out of warranty. After a lengthy conversation with a Whirlpool customer service representative, I was told that without an extended warranty, they were very sorry and there was nothing that they could do for me.
I bought a Whirlpool top loading washing machine with dryer on top, model # WGT4027EWo, last August, not even 3 months old and noticed the lint was not coming off the clothes. We tried cleaning out the washing machine with vinegar, wiping down the sides, using smaller loads and even used the gentle cycle. Nothing helped. We have had 2 different repair men out and they said there is nothing wrong with the washing machine and to put the clothes in the dryer and use fabric softener. I have never had to use fabric softener in my washing machine to get my clothes clean. When reaching out to customer service, I have spent over 2 hours and no satisfaction. They state that the technicians say there is nothing wrong with the machine. I was told by both of the technicians that they removed the lint trap from this machine, but no one is taking responsibility. My whites have blue lint and my darks have white lint, so too strong an agitation, as suggested by one repairmen is completely wrong! What to do when you spend over $1,000 on a washer/dryer combo and they dont work correctly and Whirlpool doesnt stand behind their product? Honestly, I will never buy another product from this company, and I 60 y/o and never made a complaint before about a appliance in my life!!! I dont even think I can give them 1 star! DO NOT BUY WHIRLPOOL - CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE!!!
The French door fridge with the freezer drawers on the bottom are very flexible and easy to access. It goes downhill from there. The ice maker takes 4 days to fill up the bin with no use. The unit does not defrost and freezes up every six weeks requiring a manual defrost. Three mods have been made under the service contract and performance has not improved. PC boards have been replaced and at least one thermistor. My understanding is this is a single compressor unit with piping, relays and valves to port refrigerant to two different evaporators as needed. Unfortunately it simply does not properly balance/defrost and the freezer door freezes up. It certainly is not compatible with a high humidity environment. We will never buy another cooling design like this, but sure like the French Door layout. Glad we have a service contract.
Whirlpool built in Electric oven Self Cleaning Model # GBS307. Dont Clean your oven! Everytime you clean the oven, the thermal fuse switch will burn up on you and will cost approximately $150.00 to fix. Dont use the self cleaning on this oven!
Water pools at bottom of freezer and onto floor. Has been repaired twice, but still leaks.
Absolute junk. Bought an entire matching set 2 years ago. Fridge, microwave, dishwasher and oven. Oven is the most user unfriendly thing I have ever bought. That’s my fault. Microwave failed. 300 to replace. Ice maker in side by side fridge failed, another 300 dollar fix. I used to have a field mouse or two get into the house every year. Don’t have that problem anymore because the fridge is so loud it scares them off. Talking to Customer service was the most frustrating thing of all. They think if they say your name in a nice soft tone long enough it will make everything ok. Mother and father raved about Whirlpool products. How times have changed. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of these products. Also, look up the other brand names made in the same factory and steer clear of those as well. I used to think appliances were all the same. How wrong I was. Do your research. It will save you a bundle in the long run.
I bought this machine in September of 2014. Six months later I HATE IT!! It does NOT get the clothes clean and dont even try to bleach white towels or socks, it doesnt pump the correct amount of hot water and things come out just as dirty as when they went in. It tangles everything together and frequently stops working because it unbalances the load with its lack of water. Ive always been proud of how my familys laundry looked and now Im just embarrassed. Im considering donating this to a human society for dog towels. Stay away from this washer, its horrible. Im going to the laundromat and shopping for a new machine ASAP!
My wife and I tried to buy a Whirlpool refrigerator and when dealing with their customer it seemed like the left hand didnt know what the right hand was doing. My wife and I were really disappointed being that these refrigerators are supposedly made in America; thats why we wanted a Whirlpool; but we would never buy a Whirlpool now because of the way we were treated also. Sincerely unhappy with our experience!
Three years ago I bought a Whirlpool 22 cf bottom freezer (GB2FHDXWB02) & within 2 weeks it developed its first problem. Ive had service men out 3 times (on an extended warranty) for ice buildup and leakage, presumably from the icemaker, and the problem hasnt been solved yet. I tried to open the freezer tonight and the handle pulled off in my hands, nearly sending me head over heels. This thing is a major lemon!!! Dont get me wrong: I love the design! It looks good, keeps everything at the right temps & the bottom freezer is a great idea. Id buy the same design again if I could guarantee no leakage and a handle that wont separate from the door. Now Im having problems getting the repair service to come out here again, despite the warranty. Meanwhile, the fridge is leaking onto the wood laminate floor causing damage. I just replaced an ancient dishwasher & my old Whirlpool glasstop stove after its oven failed. I cant afford a new fridge too.
Burners always needed replacing and now do not work anymore - Whirlpool range looks nice, but very expensive to maintain. The burners constantly needed replacing, they do not heat up. I got a repair technician to look at it. He replaced the parts that the burners hook into. Now they do not heat up at all. Well, one of four barely boils water. The oven still works, oh great. The thing is only 7 years old. I have had ovens that lasted 20+ years at my dads house or 15 years at another house I lived in. With all the negative comments and the repair guy who tried to fix it, I think it is time to get the kids Easy-Bake Ovens out of the storage or buy a new range. Obviously, it will not be a Whirlpool. So many negative comments people left, my useless top burners seem mild comparatively.
Our 2 yr old Whirlpool Gold refrigerator (French doors, bottom freezer) stopping freezing/cooling. When we got a repairman to come take a look at it, he said the compressor is not working. The warranty on the fridge is only 1 year. However, the compressor is the main component of a refrigerator, and the repairman said 5-6 years is the minimum it should last before breaking. I called Whirlpool and asked them to pay for the repairs of what is quite obviously a defective part. They refused. Needless to say, I will never, ever buy another Whirlpool product again.
I bought my Whirlpool Cabrio (washer and dryer) in August 2007 ($1800 for the pair). I love these machines. I have only had one problem with it (I had to have a valve replaced - about $380, the machine made a screeching noise when it filled with water). Otherwise, I have never experienced any of the problems listed above. I bought this machine because I was pregnant and chose to do cloth diapers. I was doing nearly 20 loads a week at one point. Now, I do about 4 loads a week (would be about 8 loads in a normal machine). I love that the tub is HUGE and I can fit 2 sets of double sheets plus towels in one load. My clothes always come out clean and near dry.I wash everything in it - even dry clean only using the hand wash cycle. Prior to this purchase, my clothes were not clean. I could still smell deodorant in all my t-shirts and blouses. Not any more. Its the best purchase I ever made. Although, Ive always wondered why you have to clean a washing machine monthly when... well, its cleaning clothes anyway.
Ive trusted Whirlpool washers for 20 yrs. Ive only had to buy 2 in my lifetime and neither have let me down. I will always purchase Whirlpool as it is a brand I can trust. Features and reliability are important to my family. Whirlpool has it all!
This refrigerator (French Door Refrigerator Model: WRF757SDEM) has been problematic since day one. The ice dispenser sends crushed ice all over the kitchen floor. The temperature in the upper 3/4 of the storage area and on the door is 57 degrees (it should be between 36 and 40 degrees). The item was purchased at Best Buy on October, 2016. It is still under warranty. I have had several visits by repair people and so far no fix. My friends call it a crockerator, since you can freeze food in the freezer and slowly cook food in the refrigerator section. I tried twice to get Whirlpool to pick up this thing, but so far no go. DO NOT EVER BUY A WHIRLPOOL REFRIGERATOR! They used to make good products, but no longer do.
I purchased a Whirpool fridge five years ago. To date it has had 7 repairs. The latest round has lasted over five weeks and the expensive warranty I also bought is about to run out. The repair man is on his third repair and I havent had refrigeration for five weeks. In the meantime they wont replace the fridge, and it takes two weeks between scheduled visits by the authorized repair man.
We have owned refrigerators for over 40 years. Never had one as bad as this. Three ice maker replacements lasting maybe from 6 months to 2 years. Cap that off with customer service people who by voice and tone could not give a rats ** about helping the customer. Today it took me from 3:10 pm to 5:30 pm to get a real person on the phone. When I did the attitude is so reminiscent of a fast food hamburger joint with arches. Yes they know the refrig and ice maker are and have been a problem but they don’t care cause we have no option. Whirlpool will NEVER SEE ANOTHER penny of my money. Time to look at real appliance makers. Horrible.
In my wildest dreams I wouldnt have expected that changing a burned out light bulb on a 7 month old microwave would put us out of commission for over a month. Its been 30 days now and Im told it will be more than 2 weeks before the part comes back in stock. Whirlpool had such a good reputation years ago, but thats history. This is a disgrace.
I like the washer for the most part. The thing I dont like is that even though I always keep the door open after doing a load of wash, the gasket continues to grow mold requiring me to do a monthly bleach/sanitizing process which is different than doing a bleach load of wash. The gasket also needs to be cleaned frequently. This is in a front loader.
I bought it on 11-24 13. I called Whirlpool on 1-29-13 and got no response. I called 3 or 4 times and still havent heard from them. Its now 4-1-13 and still nothing. I tried many times and got the runaround from them. They owe me money for repairs to the heater. I will not ever buy from them again. Just thought you all should know about this.
I purchased a Whirlpool dishwasher from Home Depot on 2/5/2015. It was delivered damaged on 2/9/2015. Home Depot refused to take it back and Whirlpool sent a tech out to see the damage. I told them I did not want a refurbished dishwasher that I paid almost $1000 for. Whirlpool advised Home Depot that the machine can be repaired. Once again I told both whirlpool and Home Depot that I did not want this dishwasher and to pick it up. Home Depot stated that there would be a 15 percent restocking fee along with a $65 to pick up the washer. Why should we have to pay anything? I am so disgusted for the treatment I received.
This is the information I tried to send to Whirlpool only to get a message that it was undeliverable: I purchased a set of whirlpool cabrio washer and dryer on 10-23-2013 (model numbers WTW8540BW, and WED8500BW). On 01-25-15 the washing machine failed to power up just over 2 months out of the standard warranty. This wasnt the low end cheap models. With cash discounts we paid over $1600.00 for the set. After a $70.00 dollar charge to the repairman we are told that the unit has a bad electric control board (part # W10761026). And unfortunately the part is on back order until March 1st, 2015 as of right now. So if and when the repairman gets the part and installs it, I get to pay him an additional $260.00. My family has always been such a dedicated Whirlpool appliance purchaser but this is wrong.Oh I almost forget, now I have to rent a washing machine at a cost of $55.00 per month until mine is repaired. I believed I was purchasing Whirlpool quality. The type of quality that doesnt need an extended warranty because Whirlpool is made to last correct? Please assist me in making this situation right and restore my faith in the quality I was raised with in Whirlpool products.
Bought the Duet front loader washer and dryer. Nothing but problems and repairs. When I decided to throw in the towel and buy new machines my repair man convinced me to buy Whirlpool again - Cabrio. Said they are amazing. Love them except the holes in my shirts. I bag my delicates but apparently I have to bag everything. So sorry I bought them. There was a day when you could count on Whirlpool. Replacing my crappy Whirlpool gold refrigerator right now too. Hoping LG will be better. Already replaced my Whirlpool dishwasher. Went to Maytag. This company has gone downhill. My mom had these appliances for 20 plus years - I spend thousands and cant get 5 years!!! Dont buy Whirlpool!
We purchased a 50 gallon water heater in 2005. In 2008, the thermocoupling unit went out and Whirlpool sent us the replacement part and we had a plumper install the piece (at our expense, of course). Now, we are running into the exact same problem 3 years later with the pilot light not staying lit. We had a plumber come out this weekend and replace the part but unfortunately this time, its not fixing the problem. The plumber charged us $178. He said that he can replace the thermostat on the water heater but that would cost us close to $400 to replace and makes no sense to do since purchasing a new one wouldnt be much more than that. I am so frustrated with this water heater; I just want to throw it out in the middle of the street! We still have 3 years left on our warranty too. I have 2 very young daughters who need to take baths, and who also dirty up quite a bit of clothes that need to be washed in warm water. What a nightmare! Whirlpool, help us!
