My 2 year Jennaire (made by Whirlpool) broke down on 12/14/11. Repairman came out on 12/19. He said that the compressor was not working and ordered another and he came out again on 12/22. He said that it could not be fixed (internal leak or something). An aside to this story was that a tank of compressed oil blew and damaged my hallway and kitchen walls and floors and 2 rugs. That was being handled by the repairmans insurance company. We called Whirlpool and they said that they we could pick out a new refrigerator priced at no more than $2399 even though we paid $2799 for the Jennaire and would have to pay the difference for a model costing more. We went with a Maytag (Whirlpool product) that listed for $2899 but was available at 2 local stores for $2050 and $2100 but I had to give Whirlpool anther $500 because they use the MRP.They finally delivered it on 1/5/12 but would not leave it because no one disconnected the water line to the appliance and they would not touch it. It took me 20 seconds to do it and if they would have told me so it would have been done on the 5th. Rescheduled delivery for 1/8/12 and the unit was delivered damaged (large dent in front) and they would not temporarily leave it until a replacement came.I called Whirlpool again and asked them to just call a local Home Depot or anyone in my area (all had the unit in stock) to deliver one but they told me that it must come from the warehouse in Michigan (I live in PA) and that it would be yet another 5 to 10 business days to receive it. So, I am paying $700 more for a unit that I could have bought and had delivered before Christmas not to mention the inconvenience of no unit for a month. Not to mention the damage to my home, $200+ dollars in thrown away food, time to shop for new unit, time for 2 repairman appointments and time for the 2 deliveries thus far and countless phone calls to Whirlpool to get the new unit.Today is 1/10/12, so I guess Ill have by month end if there are no other problems, you would think that they would try to expedite this just because its been so long or give us a substantial credit for all the trouble. Never again Whirlpool.
I purchased a Whirlpool Electric Water Heater in September of 2008. The unit had a 12-year warranty on the tank and on December 24th 2011, I discovered that the water heater sprung a leak somewhere in the tank shell; not the pressure relief or thermostat or anode port. The tank was never abused and operated well within its design limits. It is simply a piece of junk that lasted about 27% of its expressed life. I purchased the tank at Lowes and went for the longest tank warranty to reduce replacement intervals. I shall never purchase anything with a Whirlpool affiliation. The model number is EE3J40RDO45V with serial number 0741106580.
I purchased a Whirlpool water heater on 9/30/2011. It is leaking at the point of cold water entry and is spewing a brown colored watery substance, leaking on the floor.
Whirlpool fridge (model no ETILFKXKS) - I purchased this fridge from a very good dealer (Trail Appliances, Edmonton). Within a year, I had my first of the frozen water drain from top freezer to water pan. Of course, I blamed myself - too much warm food, blah blah. Now this is happening more and more often. The fridge is kept at number 1 of 5 for coldness. All foods are left on counter to cool, but three times over my Christmas holidays this year when I swore I would throw this fridge in the garbage - the drain froze, water all over the fridge, food having to be removed and placed in other peoples fridges, blah blah. Now it did it again this weekend! There are only two living here. I work all day and no one even opens the fridge much and again this happened. Im really sad that such a faulty product (too much insulation hiding the drain pipe behind the fridge and it must be much too small in diameter; otherwise, it wouldnt freeze up). Talking about work. We have two fridges there with 50 people using them all day and they run perfectly for the last 8 years that I have been there. So I think it indicates that my fridge is faulty. Im so sad too because I dont have the money for a new one. I just turned 65 and am about to retire (single mom). You would think that a $1,300 fridge would last longer than 6 years!
As I write this my Whirlpool is roaring because a bearing is probably going bad. Ive owned this washer for maybe 5 years. They designed this washer poorly. If you leave change in your pocket as everyone does then it will end up in the bottom below the basket and get trapped. And it dislodges, and it will, when the drain pump engages it will blow the coin through and it will break the plastic housing. It needs two beads so that NO COINS can get through if you wash them. Very disappointed customer.
Old stove does the job. I need a new and updated one. Need a warming drawer. Lower drawer does not close properly anymore. Paint on back panel is chipping. We are limited to range choices because of space.
I called the dealers repair department, which said they had not seen this before and it looks defective. I have used the oven less than a dozen times. It is virtually new. They submitted pictures to Whirlpool. The oven surround is not replaceable, so the request is to get a new oven. Whirlpool responded with, This is normal... when the cracks break through, then there is a problem. What?! I have been cooking for over 50 years and have never had this experience before. This product is under warranty. By the time it cracks through, it will be too late to do anything about it. Since when is crazing on the oven bottom natural, especially after only a very few times used? This is defective and Whirlpool is shirking their warranty. I am very dissatisfied.
Whirlpool fridge still freezes water in the bottom of freezer... after five service attempts. We purchased a five-year warranty and so far, they claim that as long as the warranty is good, they will continue to warranty it. We now have three and a half years left. We have currently owned our refrigerator for just over a year (approx. 18 months). During this time, it has had the same warranty repair issue that has been serviced five times so far. We now have an appointment for a sixth time since RC Willey does not want to fix a lemon the right way. The first three warranty repairs were under the manufacturers warranty. We are now under a warranty (extended) that was purchased from the place we bought the fridge from, RC Willey.I want my money back on the whole deal. I was going to be civilized about it because I thought they were common sense decent place to buy from. I thought they would, through common sense, realize that this unit is a lemon and allow credit towards another fridge. In just the past two years, we have bought from RC Willey over $10,000 worth of flooring, appliances, etc. and thats not counting previous years.
The electric range was purchased June 2011. In June 2012, I purchased the extended warranty from Whirlpool (or their agent). The range is located in a summer cottage, so it has minimal use. I cleaned the self-clean oven last week after carefully reading the manual. Manual did not state to remove the chrome drip pans on the top, just “remove oven racks and storage drawer contents”. The oven cleaning caused the right rear burner pan to turn bronze/black. I called Whirlpool. I was referred to Warranty folks who told me they will not cover it because it is cosmetic and referred me back to Whirlpool (as it was WP instructions that were incorrect!) I called Whirlpool and they will not replace the chrome pan. I can purchase one. This is not my fault as aforementioned. I have been a Whirlpool customer for years. I will never buy another WP product. If they cannot write the instructions correctly, it makes we wonder about the product.
Remodeling kitchen. On Sept. 2017, bought new Whirlpool microwave mod# WMH5352OCS, Actually put to use on Jan. 2017, by Nov. 2017 started getting open door errors by late Dec, 2017 completely quit working. From what I have been reading they barely make it thru the warranty period. Maybe they will run longer if one doesnt register the appliance. Especially with the crappy service for the ones that tried to have it repaired under warranty. I purchased it at Costco online, my next complaint will be to Costco, hopefully theyve gotten more complaints and pressure Whirlpool to stand by their product, NO MORE WHIRLPOOL FOR ME EITHER.
I bought a Whirlpool model GI7FVCXWY00 over and under refrigerator directly from Whirlpool through DirectBuy on April 19, 2010. The unit was a relatively high-end model (over $2,000) that came with a 12-month warranty. Thirteen months after purchase and 1 month after warranty expiration, the ice maker stopped working flooding the kitchen in the process. We called Whirlpool who recommended one of their authorized maintenance subcontractors (GuinCo) to appraise the problem. GuinCo came out, diagnosed that a valve in the ice maker had gone bad and the repair cost us $364. We chalked that up to Murphys Law (repair needed immediately after warranty expiration). Not 4 months later, the kitchen comes up flooded again and again and the ice makers not working. We call GuinCo, the repairman come out and said this time that its a heater and ice maker defect which will cost $643 to repair. He also said that the unit has been designated as having a design defect. We held off on the repair until we could contact Whirlpool for some remediation since it has become obvious that the unit is a lemon. I called Whirlpool, laid out the problems, timelines and potential cost (ice maker failures are going to cost us almost half of what the entire refrigerator cost before the unit is a year and a half old) and the only response they had netted out to was: Sorry, you should have had extended warranty. This is a prime example of an American manufacturer, marketing an inferior product and offering the customer nothing when the lack of quality becomes obvious. I will recommend to anyone I know to stay as far away from Whirlpool products as long as I live.
Refrigerator door display cable failed. The company declared refrigerator is beyond repair. Cable must be replaceable, we cannot throw refrigerator for small fault. The cost of cable is hardly Rs. 200 and refrigerator cost is Rs 25000. It is a design fault. Company has to replace cable.
I bought a house and for the first time in my life, I was able to afford and buy all new Whirlpool appliances at Sears. I worked so hard all my life and was so happy I could get new appliances when I was almost 50 years old. Up until then, I could only afford to get used appliances. Even then I had to finance them with a credit card, only to be so sad and disappointed. They are without a doubt the ** junk I have ever had. I wish I could have all my old appliances back. My new Whirlpool flat top oven burns everything and has ruined all my pots and pans. I do canning every year and it has ruined my very old and heavy pressure cookers. Even when you turn the heat all the way to low, it burns everything. I called the manufacturer and they say they do not have to disclose that it will ruin your pressure cookers or burn everything. I am very angry I bought any Whirlpool appliances. I also got a new washer and dryer; they are junk too. They dont clean my clothes like my old washer and everything is so wrinkled up when it comes out of the dryer. I need to iron everything. I have never seen anything like it. I also bought a Whirlpool hot water tank that has now gone out 2 times in 5 years because the thermostat burns out. I pray it doesnt burn my house down one of these days. One of the times it went out, I was about 10 feet away from it and it literally blew up and about gave me a heart attack. It was so loud and scared the bejezzers out of me. Whirlpool, you suck. I have told everyone I can tell how much junk your appliances are. Your company should have to be accountable for selling people such **! I would sure like to be paid not only for the cost of these junky appliances but also all my quality pressure cookers, ruined clothes and distress this has caused me. They have no consequences. They have gotten away with ripping people off and giving a lot of us tons of stress, stress, stress, and anxiety, not to mention all the financial cost. Thanks, Whirlpool, you piece of junk! I think if I had not worked so hard to finally get what I thought at the time were high quality new appliances, I wouldnt be so affected but I dont have the money now to get new quality appliances. Whirlpool took my hard earned money for their junk.
What a horrible machine! From the day that it was installed not one time it gave me good cleaning. I spent so much money servicing it. Costed me over $700! I am done putting money into it! I am washing by hand! If you want a dishwasher where you can hand wash and God forbid your rinse with the machine (you will have to rewash everything) then this is the machine for you!
We purchased Whirlpool Gold appliances because we thought that they had an excellent reputation? Wrong! Our Whirlpool refrigerator lining started cracking before the unit was 3 years old. Now its 7 years & cracks are so deep and there are so many of them, the refrigerator must be replaced. No help from Whirlpool when I called. Now remember, a refrigerator is supposed to last 14-17 years. 7 years is not acceptable! This is a known problem. If you Google refrigerator liner cracks Whirlpool youll see many of them. Unfortunately, Whirlpool will not accept responsibility for faulty design/manufacturing which leaves the consumer to be out of their hard-earned money. Before you ever buy a Whirlpool product, read the reviews and decide if Whirlpool not standing behind their products makes it worth it for you to buy them. I certainly dont recommend them! I also wish to tell you that a major crack was around the light housing and Whirlpool placed the light cover over it where it was concealed to the buyer. Youd never know it until the light cover would be removed for cleaning. Which wasnt easy to do since Whirlpool installed it with 2 sided sticky glue foam tape. Now thats really scum behavior!
I was sold a gas water heater that had my water smelly like rotten eggs in less than 6 months. I bought it in January 2016 and by June the anode rod I am told was no good. The only thing Lowes could do for me was sell me 2 anode rods, one the plumber thought was bad. I also had to hire a plumber. I was eventually told I was out of luck because the area the old anode rod was in was too damaged to come out.
This Whirlpool Water heater was purchased through Lowes on March 29, 2011. This past weekend, water started leaking out of the thermostat/natural gas control located on the side of the tank. I called a plumber to take a look. He stated that a new thermostat/natural gas control was needed. Although the tank has a 12 year warranty, this item does not. Whirlpool did agree to replace the part but would charge me $30 to overnight the item which still would have taken 4 days because of a weekend. To install the item would have cost me almost $500.00.To purchase a new Rheem Water heater was $999. I chose the second choice as the first choice would have still left me with a subpar water heater obviously already out of warranty. The reason for my review is that I saw the number of complaints on the failure of this part. When I purchased this water heater, it was the better model due to the 12 year tank warranty. What use is the tank warranty when the other items dont last? There should be some type of reimbursement but Im not holding my breath. Please buy a contractor grade water heater and not the cheaper models.
Well, I read most of the complaints with the failures in the machine. I guess most of them didnt last long enough to rate their performance so here we go. I bought a Cabrio top loader, high-E washer a couple of years ago. This one had a different kind of agitator - it was just a couple of inches or so off the bottom. I specifically bought this to wash comforters and it seemed like it was good for that (rousing agreement from the salesperson). So after a couple of years of working with it, here are my observations:Pros: There are absolutely none!Cons: Okay, other than not having control over the settings (cannot override any of the preprogrammed wash settings), it simply doesnt get loads clean (yes, I use expensive HE detergent). Except for the bulky setting, there is never enough water to wash and rinse the loads properly. Next, it makes a mess of the clothes. At the end of the cycle, and this is true no matter what I wash or how large or small the load is or which cycle I pick - even light and slow spin, it just makes a tangled mess of the load. Stuff gets stuck inside of other stuff, wrapped around other stuff or are balled up. Never have I seen this type of issue. I constantly get the unbalanced load notice and have to manually redistribute the clothes most of the time.To address the too little water level, there are two options. I have discovered that the bulky setting has the highest water level, so I use that most of the time. From time to time (when I need different water temps or just want more water), I have developed a work-around by putting a Y adapter on the hot water inlet and a short hose. Once the washer starts the wash cycle, I stop it and add a bit of hot water to bring the level up enough to do a decent wash job - same for the rinse cycle. So much for Whirlpools water efficiency.Next, the hot isnt hot. Its barely lukewarm. So I turn the cold down to a trickle and I get a bit hotter water. It takes forever to rinse though. Its a good thing Im semi-retired. Next is the inflexible cycle/water selector. I have never had a washer I couldnt override to tell it what to do in unusual circumstances. Boy, what rocket scientist at Whirlpool dreamed that up!But above all, this just doesnt get loads clean. I have experimented with all the variables, load size, cycle selection, detergents, etc. Most of the time, I have to do two cycles with my loads and these are not unusual or extremely dirty loads. They are just normal, everyday laundry for an adult couple. Really, Whirlpool! Who was the conceptual designer on this? Thank goodness they werent working on the space shuttle or some disease research.Bottom line, I am so soured on the design and performance of this product that I will never buy another Whirlpool product, either brand name or generic (Sears). I just cant understand how a company would let something like this out the door.
I purchased my new Whirlpool Cabrio Top Load washer to replace a Maytag that had finally given out in the summer of 2012. I wish I did more due diligence, but with a toddler and a newborn, I needed a washer asap. I severely regret my $800 purchase from Sears. It is now February 2013 and the machine basically only runs on two cycles - Casual and Normal. All the others stop in mid-cycle. Sometimes, the items are still dry or partially wet so I need to switch to another cycle to complete the wash. This is not good for Delicates or when I wash Whites, Heavy Duty or Bulky items which is one of the reasons I purchased the model. The cycle stops when the items are soaked with massive amounts of water. So I then have to turn it to the Drain cycle and start over. After a day of washing one load, I couldve done it the old-fashioned way in my utility basin sink and hung it out to dry ... I dont have the time for this. I am going to make a formal complaint to Whirlpool and to Sears. I cannot keep spending nearly $1,000 for items that break within a year. These companies should be ashamed of their lack of quality. I shouldve gone with the Electrolux and just dealt with the price tag - I wouldve been much happier.
I purchased a washer/dryer around March of this year. I have nothing but trouble out of both of them. It doesnt matter what cycle the washer is on. Its like it has a mind of its own. It may wash; it may not. Sometimes, it takes over an hour for it to finish washing. The dryer sometimes dries on one cycle; the next time, it wont. Who would think a brand new appliance would do this. Every appliance in my kitchen is Whirlpool. They dont give me any problem, and I use them everyday.
We bought a new oven/range in April 2019. December 7th 2019 it stopped working. No power at all. We contacted Whirlpool about our unit as it was still under the year warranty. They contacted their local repair company. 3 times they have said they were coming out to fix it and they had the part. Three times they have told us never mind. They didnt have the part and would have to come later. Most recent update, they wont get the part until the 20th and wont make it out until the 23rd. That is over 2 weeks after our unit broke and it is the holidays and we will have family visiting. We have tried to get answers about what is really going on and we keep being told they cant help us or give us any answers. So frustrated. You can bet I will never buy another Whirlpool appliance again!
I will never touch the premier Whirlpool Brand Again. This is the two door fridge + drawer freezer, model GI7FVCXWY0After about a year, and I think it lasted this long because the ice maker was off during winter (because unless you use it constantly you have a solid block of ice), after a year it stopped making ice and poured water out from the top of the fridge. Expensive extended warranty came and replaced the Ice Maker, which (about a year later) has just started leaking all over the floor (again). This I suspect was a protest against using all of the ice one day. It froze up, which causes the leak, froze solid items that were in the fridge compartment (and spoiled some items). The other design fault is while the right hand door will stay open, the left will not, it closes. But it does not close properly - just enough to make you think it is closed.Dangle beers in a nearby stream, keep your food in the cellar, dig a deep hole in the backyard, learn to eat all your food the day you buy it, but do not buy this fridge!
We purchased our Whirlpool Front Loading HE Washing Machine a year and ten months ago from Future Shop, and now it has failed. After paying about $100 for a service call, we were told we need to order a motor control board that will cost an additional $397 plus tax, plus installation. Because it is off warranty, this means my $1030 washing machine that is less than two years old will cost me about $680 to repair! My parents old top loading washing machine still works after 30 years. And now I notice that so many other people have had the exact same problem. Why hasnt Whirlpool fixed this issue? This is criminal! What on earth is going on here? I was under the impression that Whirlpool was a top-notch brand.
I bought a new Whirlpool French Door bottom-freezer refrigerator at Lowes in September 2010. I started seeing ice form in the bottom of the freezer compartment in July 2011. I cleaned it out, thought maybe the door had not sealed good. In a few weeks, it had formed again. I checked for leaks at ice maker. I noticed a condensate was also freezing on the back wall. I called Whirlpool in October 2011 to see what could be done, since the problem began before warranty had expired. (The warranty expired in September.) I was told by 3 different Whirlpool reps that they would not cover any of the costs of repair, but they suspected it was the auto defrost system and they would be glad to line up a repair person. Most of my appliances over the last twenty years have been Whirlpool, and I have had good service out of them other than a microwave that had a recall and that Whirlpool repaired. I was shocked that Whirlpool would not back up their product any better than this, especially since it is one of their higher-end models. Im not sure why Whirlpool has a customer service (or disservice) line to call. They were very uninterested in helping me. I can call my own repair person. I was insulted by the manner that the helpline personnel spoke to me. My experience has convinced me to try a different brand other than Whirlpool for all my future purchases.
It is in the mid-range of cost and functions. For a mid-range dishwasher, it has many options, sometimes too many. It does not have rinse and hold. I think its cycles run too long; not always energy efficient (i.e. the simplest one uses the most energy).
I got my water heater 3/13/12. Ive had to restart it now 4 times & have been totally out of hot water for two months! How can I get help from you or Lowes? This thing is supposed to work for 6 years & I havent been able to keep it going for 6 months! Help please! Can I get a different one? This one hates me! Being widowed & having a metal hip, it’s hard to get safely into the attic to restart it and not sure it will work longer than 2 or 3 weeks! Ive been bathing in the kitchen because thats where the stove is! Thats the only way I have of having hot water, is on the stove! Thanks for listening!
Whirlpool provides free replacement parts to repair this design problem but wont pay the service charges to repair their design problem. I purchased a KitchenAid french door style refrigerator (KBFS25EWMS10, SN K31902118) and it leaks water on the kitchen floor. At first I just mopped it up but later discovered they have a design problem in their drain system and water backs up into the freezer dept and eventually on to the floor. Customer Service provides free improved replacement parts for this design problem but wont pay the service charges to have the parts replaced. Simply put, Whirlpool/KitchenAid do not stand behind their product quality, instead they pass the problem and service charge cost for their design problem on to the consumer. Beware of this appliance supplier!
I bought this piece of junk Whirlpool Cabrio washer two years ago and it’s been nothing but junk. Just like everyone else, this thing has never gotten my clothes clean no matter what I do. Anything with a drawstring or straps gets ripped up or stretched out. It’s loud and shakes, even though it’s leveled. Now, to top it off, it’s leaking water from the basket seal. I called Whirlpool and they couldnt give a damn. Since it’s out of warranty, it’s my problem, even though she said they know this machine has a lot of problems. So now Im stuck either fixing this thing or buying a new washer. Every appliance in my house is a Whirlpool and Ive had nothing but problems with several of them. I thought when I bought the brand it was a good brand and they stood behind their stuff. Boy, was I wrong! I will never buy Whirlpool again! They should recall this washer!
I purchased the Cabrio washer during the black Friday sale. The washer was a pretty slate gray. I loved the color and the fact it was a Whirlpool, which I thought meant quality. It was expensive but we were updating our appliances as our 10 year plus washer needed replacing. Big mistake. This washer is terrible. It keeps me stressed. There is not enough water to clean the clothes, my husbands white underwear is always dingy and dirty looking. The sheets are dirty and smells. I try putting bleach on whites before washing and the whites still come out with underarm stains. I tried all the recommendations to no avail. This machine is awful. This was a big financial mistake. As soon as I am able this machine is gone. Will go back to the agitator in the middle, and NOT a Whirlpool. I DO NOT recommend this machine unless you want something pretty because this is NOT a washing machine.
First twice the frame that holds the crisper drawers broken. We bought parts and fixed worked for only short time. Second we bought extended warranty from Home Depot for 5 years. At about 4.5 years ice maker started freezing up. The valve that controls the amt of water that goes in was broken. Had it fixed under warranty. Started having a little problem with it in a couple months. Lasted 8 months. Broke again. Froze up. Had to pound on ice maker compartment door to get open. Once again water overflowed. Froze everything up. Called. Of course our of warranty now expired. Called the guy that put the ice maker repair parts in. The part under warranty but now I have to pay for labor and them coming out to look at it. Now why would I want to put another defective ice maker in. I called Whirlpool. They didn’t care. We have many Maytag appliances in our home but they will be the last. The appliances they make now are cheaply made.
1.0 out of 5. This is the absolute worst washer that I have ever owned. Do NOT fall for the top loader hype. The clothes do not get clean. Anything black constantly comes out with a white residue and whites are dingy. Ive tried numerous detergents and used as little as a tablespoon and still get the same results. The company just insists that its too much detergent or that I need to run the clean cycle after every 4-5 loads. The service guy that came out said this is the number 1 complaint with these washers and Ive talked to plenty of friends that experience the same issue. The company would have you think this is the first time they have heard of it.I have spent hours on the phone with whirlpool and Home Depot over the past year and neither accept responsibility or offer any solution other than some free cleaning tablets from Whirlpool and Home Depot offered $200 off the purchase of another washer. This was when the washer was only 6 months old. The only way around this is to rewash the clothes and a second cycle and to wash all loads on bulk load with an extra rinse. Yep. Great water savings there! Save yourself the headache and dont buy a top loader of any brand and I would never buy another appliance of any kind from Whirlpool and Home Depot because of their poor customer service in handling this common issue.
I spent what I consider to be a lot of money on the Whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer which I purchased in 2007. Within months, I was getting error messages on the washer, specifically an F51. Thankfully, it was covered by warranty. Whirlpool knew then and there that these things were lemons. The repairman told me he couldnt keep up with fixing that issue. I have since had to replace the motherboard on the washer at a cost of $359, and the idler pulley on the dryer at $221; not to mention the metal catch on the dryer broke. I ordered a plastic one on eBay. I will never buy another Whirlpool product as long as I live! They make junk!
I purchased my refrigerator four years ago from Lowes. From the second year ice would form in the bottom of the freezer weekly. This past week it stopped working totally. I had to call a repairman. He advised me the parts he had to replace were outdated and Whirlpool had made changes to the my refrigerator model two years ago. No recall. Just cheap parts that caused the refrigerator to not defrost. $400 later all is well and I am broke. I wrote to Whirlpool and their response was, Oh well, there was never a recall so youre SOL.
I bought a Whirlpool dishwasher from Lowes and it has never worked properly ever since. It has been a little over a year now and it will not drain, will not wash dishes, and it stinks so bad that you cant drink out of the glasses. Its a total piece of junk. I called the manager at Lowes and explained all the problems. He said that he would see what he could do. I left three phone numbers but he never even bothered to call back. I will never buy anything from Lowes again.
Whirlpool Washer Front Loader - Ripped off! It cost $250.00 to repair; the serviceman was at my home all of 15 minutes. The below or otherwise known as the rubber seal was ripped up and caused my washer to leak water all over the floor. I washed a load of laundry, 1 item being my 2-year-old granddaughter’s pants that had a 4 zipper in the pant leg. The serviceman suspected the damage was done by the zipper. So how many of us wash clothes with zippers?!I called and ordered the part from Sears thinking this was possibly something we could fix ourselves, only the part was on back order and would take a month before it was in. Therefore I looked online and could purchase the part, delivered for $91.00. I called for repair service to ask them about it. He said they could be difficult. It would take him about an hour to put it on. Guess what, it was on in 5 minutes. Now, Im even madder because I know I could have done this myself. Whirlpool! Oh yeah, I forgot to mention this was 1 and a half years old; we’re a family of two, no warranty. Think people, we’re getting ripped off.
I agree with the person who said they would rate it no stars, because this washing machine model (Whirlpool Cabrio Model No. WTW8500DC4) does not deserve one. It truly does need to go back to the engineering department. This washing machine is a replacement for another Cabrio! Short story on the first one: Installed on February 2, 2017. October 5, 2017, machine would not go. Then began a series of waiting for repair people, parts, etc. I think it was a total of four trips -- the first one to inspect, three to install parts, the last one being where the repairman took the machine totally apart in the laundry room and was here for several hours. Still would not work. On November 29, 2017 (almost two months later!), Whirlpool had one delivered by JB Hunt. Well, that wasnt so short. This complaint is on the replacement machine. Installed on November 29, 2017. On February 3, 2017, washer said it was done. Well, it wasnt! Clothes were sopping wet, had not been spun, and the fabric softener had not released meaning, I guess, that they had not been through the rinse cycle. It gets better! Tried to start it on a short wash, meaning not very dirty as that is the only way to shorten the cycle. The timer showed 40-something minutes, then went to 1:36 minutes, then to 1:42. Turned it off, unplugged, let sit 15-20 minutes. Plugged in, started it back up. It went crazy! Water was pouring in the machine, then I heard a noise, looked to see what it was -- it was water coming out the bottom of the machine. Husband turned off the water spigots, didnt stop the water. I unplugged the thing from the wall; water did stop.Water was in the laundry room, the pantry, the kitchen! Thankfully I was standing there to see what it was doing or it could have been really bad. This time I took photos and video of this thing. Technician is coming Wednesday. Well see, wont we? Do not want another Cabrio, but what do you do if, like most people with new washer/dryers, you want a matched set?
Refrigerator ice maker quit working. This is replacement fridge for first refrigerator that quit working same model. This one has electrical burn marks inside behind a panel. Whirlpool says this is normal. How can burn marks inside a refrigerator be normal. If house or fridge catch on fire will be suing Whirlpool. Ice maker and water valve replaced. Still not working. Maybe it has to do with the burn marks.
We bought a Cabrio washing machine two years ago. I have had to have a repairman out twice for it shooting water out of the top (from a top-loading machine). They repaired that and its better. But this goes off balance ALL the time. I cant even wash a load of towels without it going off balance. We bought this one as it was supposed to handle large blankets and even my lightweight king size comforters. Yeah. Did once or twice, then started the off-balance stuff. It grows MOLD in the bleach, softener, and detergent dispensers.I wrote to the company and included pictures. They were really rude about it. I finally found how to remove the dispensers to clean them, but it is very difficult. I HATE this machine and will never buy a Whirlpool again. (Our refrigerator, which was in our house when we bought it, is also a Whirlpool. It is poorly designed and collect dust in the coils UNDER the thing and you cannot reach them to clean it. Coils are behind other pieces that block being able to clean them.) Whirlpool is a horrible company and doesnt stand behind their products, in my experience.
Whirlpool Washer W10740628A - So disappointed! I have made adjustments for a year trying to get clean clothes from this machine. Compared to my previous machine which wore out, I now use more water because only deep water wash provides enough water; I always choose double rinse because if the machine does not clean, I do not trust it to rinse effectively either. I use more Tide than previously per wash; I use more Clorox than previously per wash. Everything from tea towels to heavily soiled jeans show stains and soils after washing. Instructions say not to spread the item in the washer but allow it to stack on itself, so twisted and tangled wet clothes are the result. I try to soak and scrub all visible dirt before I start the machine now; additionally, I use a mop or plunger or my hands to thoroughly immerse the clothes in the washer, somewhat like my mother did in 1950s. What on earth is this about and what is the buyer supposed to do???
I purchased this washer about a year ago and have been dissatisfied with its performance since Day One. It takes a long time to run a cycle and has not saved me any water or electricity. I always have to add a second rinse because it doesnt get the soap out (using the recommended detergent) with the regular cycles. Sometimes it doesnt get my clothes clean.Today it tore huge holes in the front and back of one of my very favorite T-shirts, which was a very meaningful gift from a very good friend. This was due to its tangling the clothes even more tightly than it usually does; the tangling process was what tore the material. I always take pains to load the machine in the manner instructed, to put the clothes in loose balls around the outside of the drum, but nevertheless it can take me several minutes to untangle my laundry before I put it in the dryer (also a Whirlpool -- just waiting to see how it disappoints). If I had read the reviews here before I selected my new machines, I would never have purchased the Whirlpool washer or dryer. I certainly never will purchase Whirlpool machines again.
I am very happy with this dishwasher. It is not a high end, rather middle of the road, but is very quiet, does a great job of cleaning my dishes and pots and pans.
My wife and I purchased a Whirlpool Duet washer and dryer 5 years 1 month ago. We purchased the front load style because they were supposed to be better made than the older style. Its just my wife and I no kids. We never overload the washer or dryer. Now the drum bearings in the washer have gone out. I feel that a washer should last longer than 5 years and 1 month. I dont think I will be buying another Whirlpool.
I bought a Whirlpool over the range microwave in 2015, after about 6 months in I noticed that the microwave door was starting to crack. I thought maybe I bought a cracked one. About a year in the microwave is cracked. Pieces of the microwave are starting to fall on the food I am cooking. The last straw was when my 4-year-old was gagging and then choking on a piece of the plastic that fell from my microwave.
This machine is junk. It does not get clothes clean. I had jeans that I soaked and were fairly clean when I put them into wash and had another pair of jeans with a little dried mud. My whole load came out filthy. I am having to rewash the whole load after hand cleaning the washing machine. I replaced a machine that was 25 years old that did a better job than this piece of junk now sitting on its place.
I have a model FG1F4034T3NOV water heater that was a problem since day one. The pilot will not stay lit, and apparently, there was some sort of class action lawsuit due to a defective part that I missed out on because I didnt know about it. The telephone representative is quick to point out that it is out of warranty due to the date of manufacture and that it needs about $200 in parts because I cant find the receipt from 4 years ago, when I bought it from Lowes. The company flat out refused to do a courtesy replacement for parts or discount them.
On August 16, 2016 I received delivery of an Whirlpool under counter refrigerator that I ordered online from Home Depot. Model # WUR50X24EM. Five months later, on January 10, 2017, it stopped working, I called Whirlpool for repair. They referred me to their service company, I called the service company the same day. They had a repairman out on the following Tuesday, 1/17/17. The repairman said that he will need to contact Whirlpool to order a part. Whirlpool sent him the wrong part. After numerous phone calls no one from Whirlpool could figure out the correct part number. The repairman kept sending over pictures and information on the correct part, but this all went nowhere with Whirlpool. On 2/7/17, I called and started yelling. I had been very patient up to this point. I was finally offered by Whirlpool a parts research to determine exactly which part was needed. Plus a $50 Visa card to appease me. At this point, its been four weeks without a refrigerator and no one from Whirlpool has put any effort towards trying to figure out the correct part. On 2/16/17, I called Whirlpool again to find out if they had found the correct part. They told me that the new part had been sent to the service company and Whirlpool scheduled me an appointment right then for Monday, 2/20/17.So today is 2/20/17, the repairman came and went, Whirlpool once again failed, they lied because the repairman came out with the wrong part that was originally sent to him when he ordered the part back on 1/17/17. I called Whirlpool and asked for a manager. They connected me with the Resolution Specialist. I told her everything and pointed out that it has been six weeks without a refrigerator. She said she will take care of it and get the right part ordered. I asked her how long I should have to wait, cause at this point I have waited long enough. She said she will have an answer by the end of this week. I dont believe her, I feel as though Whirlpool is pacifying me. I dont understand why they cant order the correct part.I have no faith in Whirlpool that they will do the right thing or have any understanding on how inconvenienced they have made me. I have no faith to the point that I ordered another refrigerator from a different manufacturer. It will be here tomorrow between 8am-12pm. Oh, and Home Depot, they washed their hands of this a long time ago. And, I have yet to see the $50 Visa Card.
Ive owned the microwave for 2 years, and recently the DOOR AJAR alarm goes off whenever I try using it. The appliance is now essentially unusable. I wish I knew about this known defect before purchasing. I spoke with Whirlpool Customer Care, and they want to charge me to have someone come fix a known defect. The charge is more than what I paid for the microwave. Please avoid Whirlpool at all costs!
The company I work for bought a new washing machine a couple of months ago to make it easier for those that do the laundry here. The washer was suppose to be this great washing machine which has turned out to be the biggest piece of trash on the property!! Every couple of loads you have to turn it off and hopefully the computer in this Whirlpool cabriolet will reset so you can wash a load of clothes. You have a 50/50 chance it will work. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS MACHINE. IT IS THE WORST WASHING MACHINE IVE EVER USED!!
Less than 2 years old; a loud chirp began and the water dispenser stopped working, along with the ice. Repairman came out--ordered a part. One week later another repairman; another part. One week later another repairman--couldnt fix the problem. By now no cooling in the refrigerator at all. Tech line has to review the findings. Have heard nothing after nearly 3 weeks without a fridge, ruined food, and no ice other than my back yard!
I bought my fridge 6 years ago. 13 months after purchase I had to replace the compressor. Last month I had to replace the water drip pan. Now the fridge is knocking and hissing again and warm inside. Compressor needs to be replaced. I contacted Whirlpool and they said 6 years is old for an appliance. Seriously!?? What about 13 months when the compressor went? They obviously dont stand behind their products. They are unable to admit I got a dud. Im so disappointed and frustrated. Stay clear!!!
I have a Cabrio washing machine that is just barely two years old. I have already spent over $500 on repairs/service calls. The first repair was the drum which cost $300 + to repair. Typically, my experience with washing machines is I buy a new one after years of service simply because I want a more updated model. I just bought a different brand to replace the Cabrio as it has another broken hinge (one rusted out. How bizarre is that?) And it wont work on some of the choices for cycles. The first time I called whirlpool, they were totally unresponsive and told me there was not any problems with the machine even though the part I needed was on backorder for three weeks. I have never been so frustrated with a product I thought was a reliable brand, not!
Im going to add my 2 cents to the already poor reviews of this dishwasher. Ive been disgruntled about it since it was first installed. The silverware rack will not stay shut, so when you go to shut the door all the silverware falls into the bottom of the washer. And its totally rusting. All the pins in the carriage are literally rusting away. This is a faulty washer and Whirlpool needs to find a way to repay their customers. Ill never buy a Whirlpool product again.
The built-in microwave above the stove was in the home when we bought it seven years ago, so not sure how old it is. Although it had a crack in the door, near the handle, weve had not one problem with the unit. The crack has not opened more, or gotten longer, in the seven years weve been in the home. The unit is easy to clean, and has worked perfectly. It is simple to use, although no directions came with it, it was easy to figure it out.
I like the washer for the most part. The thing I dont like is that even though I always keep the door open after doing a load of wash, the gasket continues to grow mold requiring me to do a monthly bleach/sanitizing process which is different than doing a bleach load of wash. The gasket also needs to be cleaned frequently. This is in a front loader.
Whirlpool gold series refrigerator leaks water from freezer after 14 months because ice builds up causing the door not to shut properly and rime ice forms over food. I called Whirlpool and theyve not heard this problem before and stated I should have gotten the extended warranty. This is ridiculous. The internet is flooded with people having the same problem.
Its a front loader and has lots of cycles and temperature to choose from. Its setting on a pedestal so its not too low. I dont like the way the soap is dispensed.. If you still have the door open when you pour it in the dispenser it almost comes out on you. It also knots your clothes up and makes them hard to get out. The rest is good.
I have a 5yr warranty. Im 3yrs in on the 3rd repair. Horrible. This time they cant get the part and Ive been dealing with them for 5 almost 6 months. I spend countless hours on hold trying to get a real person... When I do they send me to someone else where the queue starts over. I paid $400 extra to just have them replace the fridge and its been over a month and they cant even get a new one delivered. Just refund my money! This is beyond the pale. Dale, Sunrise Beach Mo.
We bought a Cabrio washer less than three years ago. I have never felt that it got my clothes clean. The washer recently stopped spinning and agitating. We were told by a very experienced repair technician today that the gear case and bearings in the tub need to be replaced at a cost of $700.00. Needless to say, I am very upset. I called the Whirlpool Company and after being on hold for almost 15 minutes, I was told that my washer is too old to qualify for any help with repair cost or part replacement. My household consists of two adults. We do on average three loads a week. This is an inferior appliance and after this experience I will never purchase another Whirlpool product.
We bought a Whirlpool dishwasher when we learned that my daughter and two children would be living with us for an extended time. We bought it a couple of months before they came. During that time I used it maybe four or five times as there are only two of us and didnt need to use it. Since they arrived in early June, the dishwasher malfunctioned almost immediately. Talking with their representative was useless and frustrating. The only words she seemed to know were circuit breaker. That is where the conversation started and ended despite my assurances that it had nothing to do with a circuit breaker. We wrangled round and round to no avail. This company used to be an American standard. Now it is a class A maker of junk.
I bought my refrigerator model GX5FHDXVQ0 in 2010 and after this short amount of time, the control board went out. My repair cost was $446.05 to have it repaired. The refrigerator cost over $2,000 and to have to spend nearly $500 on repairs after only 2 years seems way beyond reasonable. I have Whirlpool appliances - washer, dryer and dishwasher - in my home and thought it was a very reliable name. I am very unhappy after reading customer complaints about the very same thing happening to them. I can also see that the company Whirlpool is not very concerned with customer complaints. I find this very disappointing. I will not recommend their products anymore nor will I purchase any Whirlpool products.
We have a Whirlpool double oven that is about 3 years old. Today we used the oven for lunch and about 2 hours later we heard a loud sound from the kitchen. When I went to see what had happened I found glass shards all over the kitchen, some as far as 10-12 feet away. The outside glass of the top oven was spider-webbed and had apparently exploded. Nothing had come into contact with the oven and nobody had been in the room with it for over an hour, it just randomly exploded. I am going to contact Whirlpool but judging by the other posts I dont expect much help from them.
Chris from Whirlpool contacted me the same day that I filed my complaint. He offered to replace our water heater at no charge. We will pick up our new water heater this weekend and install it. Hopefully, it is designed better than our current water heater.
We purchased a Whirlpool Countertop Microwave (model MT4155) at HHGregg on 6/02/2012. (This was a replacement for another oven that failed after a couple of years - NOT a Whirlpool.) On 6/04/2013, i.e., 2 days past the standard 1 yr warranty expiration, the oven went nuts. I was cooking a plateful of baked potatoes on the auto setting. When the potatoes were done, I opened the door to take them out and the oven started to run! WITH the door open! When I shut the door, it stopped. So the only way to get the oven to operate was to OPEN the door. I dont think this is a safe or effective practice. Knowing it was two days past the warranty, I called customer service anyway just to see what they would say. To my surprise, they (I talked to two different people) were VERY pleasant and accommodating, and offered to cover the cost of repairs and even set up an appointment for the authorized repair person, and then called to verify the appt. as well. Great! I was impressed! The repairman showed up as scheduled and seemed puzzled at first, but he dismantled the outside cabinet and determined the fault was in the door switch. He wasnt sure he had a replacement with him, but he did find one, put the new part in the oven, and re-assembled everything. We made sure it worked and he then left. Fast forward 5.5 months, when again I was cooking potatoes (boiled this time. Maybe the oven doesnt like potatoes!). I had the timer set for 20 minutes on 100%. I was out of the room when it quit cooking, but I think it ran for about 6 minutes and then just shut off and could not be persuaded to restart. The clock continued to count down, and all the other bells and whistles still functioned - it just wouldnt cook. Major hassle. The following day, I was looking at it, messing around to see if I could figure out what was wrong, and discovered that if I pushed on the door latch just a little, the oven would run. Well, thats a nifty workaround, as long as you arent doing any more than briefly reheating something, but not so great if you are actually trying to cook something. I continued to do this for the next few days and then suddenly one night it reverted to the first bad behavior - only running when the door was open. I was able to get that to stop, but the following day, it refused to work at all and it is now sitting here uselessly, just a little over 1.5 years old. I want to go buy another oven (and YES - a different brand!) - my SO wants to repair this one, again. After reading the experiences of others on this site, I REALLY cant see the point in repairing esp not if I have to pay this time (which I probably will), and also when it seems to be a faulty part/design causing this problem. I dont have the time or patience to deal with an unreliable appliance, esp one that I use often. I have not tried to call customer service yet, but Im not expecting great things, not this time. Planned obsolescence? Sure makes me wonder.
My 50 Gallon water heater is still under warranty, model #051718153. The water heater shuts down after a few minutes. Theres a sound of a leak inside the tank. They would not replace the tank; theyd only replace parts. We have already replaced the outer control box and the double burner, and theres nothing else to replace except the tank, which they refuse to do so. If I had called them and said theres water coming out from the heater, theyd have agreed to send me a new tank, but honesty doesnt work.
My husband and I purchased a new Maytag top load washing machine from Best Buy in May 2017. On June 19th, a month later, as I am washing, all of a sudden the machine dies down. I checked everything from the outlet, the plug to the circuit breaker, and nothing seemed to help get my washer to start up again. Unfortunately I had wet clothes inside and the lid is one of those that locks itself and it would not open. :( I called Whirlpool/Maytag to explain my situation and could not believe that they told me that they only have 1 authorized appliance repair dealer they work with in my area and that they didnt show any available appointments until 4 weeks from now? WHAT? Are you kidding me? I could not wait that long, especially since I had soaking wet clothes sitting inside the washer.I asked if I called someone else myself and have it repaired sooner, would they reimburse me for the expenses. They refused to do that and told me I need to wait for their own authorized repair dealers. Talk about bad customer service here :( My husband called them back and asked to speak to a supervisor at Whirlpool and was told that it shouldnt have to be that long for us to wait for repair so why was I told that in the first place? The supervisor proceeded to tell my husband that we will get a call back in 5 days? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? 5 days just for someone to CALL us? And then have to wait longer to get our service done? No way!We think that Whirlpool sold Best Buy a lemon and we are paying for it! Why cant they say that they will get in touch with Best Buy so they can deliver a new working machine and take this lemon back? We are not happy with their responses so we will be paying Best Buy a visit to see what else we can do. I already spent unnecessary money to go to a laundromat to wash clothes :( I would recommend that people stay away from Whirlpool products. Well see if we can exchange ours for another brand.
In April of 2009, I bought a Whirlpool over the range microwave, model # MH2175XSB-5. In September 2011, a small piece of the door fell off at the hinge. Pieces have continuously fallen off and now the door is splitting, rendering the item useless. It was purchased at Lowes and I had them installed the item. Two years of service plus installation come to big bucks for a piece of trash.
I will make this short. If there was a part that could break on my Whirlpool fridge, it broke. Whirlpools 3rd party repair company (Flamingo Appliance Services, who are awful themselves) was at my home countless times. This last time, they were replacing the same malfunctioning part for the THIRD TIME. The Flamingo technician (Nicholas) insured me that the issues were not related, despite the same exact part being replaced 3 times. I told him that I believed that was a dishonest statement, and he left the fridge un-repaired. Now Whirlpool nor Flamingo will help, and I am stuck with a non-functional fridge, and small children at home. Whirlpool and Flamingo represent everything I despise, have zero integrity, and are a reading on the barometer of where our country is headed.
Sixteen months after I bought the Cabrio washer (model # WTW7800XWO), the F1 error light came on. I had to replace the electronic panel on the machine for $400. Whirlpool refused to replace it even though they have been replacing this panel for others. This is a common problem with the Cabrio washer.
Just bought this washer, its making a lot of noise, sounds like something is grinding (metal, gears, etc). I thought Whirlpool was suppose to be good. I just had my Maytag go out after 18 years of service, thought about getting another Maytag but found out Whirlpool makes those. As many complaint as I see, seems there needs to be a class action lawsuit against Whirlpool for shoddy work.
My complaint is basically the same as all the others. Clothes do not come clean in my brand new Whirlpool washer. Ive had two other Whirlpools, and they were fine. This one, however, is a piece of junk. One of the main problems is that the washer is designed to use only lukewarm water, even on the hot setting, it does not use hot water. Another problem is too little water. Another irritating factor is the constant locking of the lid. Another problem is the constant starting and stopping of the agitator. This cannot be good for the motor. Im at the point of giving away my new washer which Ive had for exactly one week. This is a totally inferior product, and I feel that I have been really ripped off.
IM single, and my current refrigerator meets my basic needs quite well. One drawback -- it has an ice making machine which I never use. Therefore, that takes up room in the freezer which could be used for frozen foods.
I purchased a Whirlpool brand refrigerator from PC Richards two months ago. The compressor has stopped working causing my refrigerator to stop cooling and in turn all my food has gone bad. I reached out to P.C. Richards and they immediately credited me a check for the full amount of the refrigerator, with the option to get a new one delivered to me. I asked P.C.R. customer service if I would be credited for the food in my fridge and they suggested I reach out to the manufacturer. I reached out and, to my dissatisfaction Whirlpool will not credit me for the loss of the food in the refrigerator. I am completely disappointed. As I mentioned before I purchased the fridge 2 months ago. This is clearly a manufacture issue. I purchased a lemon and I am getting no support from Whirlpool customer affairs department. As a person who works for a reputable company in the purchasing department, I will see to it that we never do business with this company again. A company that doesn’t stand for anything or even compensates their customer for a faulty product should not be in business. Forgot to mention the customer affairs rep. Offered me fifty dollars for my troubles. Which I turned down. Besides the fact that fifty dollars will not cover a third of the items in my fridge, money is no longer the problem. It is the lack of customer service for purchasing one of their appliances. I am completely disappointed and will never recommend or purchase this product again.
My hot water tank wont stay lit. I replaced the heating element, and the thermo couple. It will light up now but it only stays on for about 10 minutes.
I purchased my Whirlpool microwave model WMH2175XVS-2 in March 2011. The magnetron went bad 3 years and 1 month later. Thats only 37 months! Whirlpool is very sorry but of course the warranty is expired! Oh by the way, I replaced a microwave that lasted 10 Years which was a second microwave (which is still going after 15 years).
Everything I have read is what I am going through... First the clothes didnt come clean. Lint piles on everything dark... Then at 1 yr and 7 months old, the drum and spin mechanism breaks. It cost me $333 in labor... Should have cost me nothing as far as Im concerned. 2 weeks later, its putting a code up that the hot and cold lines are crossed. Nope, its the whole computer board. Whirlpool again said they will just pay for parts... piece of crap. I paid for the best... Sure didnt get it.
I purchased a $950 whirlpool refrigerator from Lowes in Tucson. 2 months after the 1 yr warranty expired, I paid $450 in repair bills to have it fixed. After 9 months of visits by the repairman and loss of hundreds of dollars in spoiled food, they deemed my fridge unrepairable. Then Whirlpool called me and said they would exchange my fridge for a better one for $688. My loss is now up to approx. $2000 counting spoiled food.
Another person with problems called this a giant Whirlpool paperweight and he is so right! I received delivery of a Cabrio WTW7800XW3 washer on December 17, 2011. I had an issue (stopped in the middle of the cycle and flashed the letter “F” on the control panel) with it on January 2nd. I called and scheduled service. I had unplugged the machine and a few days later I replugged it and it started to work, so I cancelled the service call. In March, the problem started again. It just adds a little bit of water and then stops. Since then I have had repairmen out 6 times with 8 new parts installed and the washer still doesnt work. Now, the control panel won’t work. Whirlpool refuses to replace the machine. The repairman says these are the worst machines (any of the ones that are top load and have a clear top) he has ever seen and that I should buy an extended warranty. He says the bearings in the tub wear out among other things. On one of the repair visits, the serviceman found a chewed up pair of baby pajama pants. The machine makes a really loud noise like a jet engine taking off whenever it spins and the clothes are not clean. Whirlpool says that the warranty does not cover replacement of a defective machine. I have since researched the machine and have discovered that there have been problems with this line of machine for years. So, why are they still selling them? I am hoping for a class action suit. The company should stand by their products. I will never purchase a Whirlpool (or any other brand manufactured by Whirlpool) product again. I have had the machine for 4 months and it has been usable for about 2 of them.
LEDs on control panel started going out in four months. It’s a 400$ part. Under warranty but what’s going to happen in another four months? The range I had from the eighties was still working. You don’t get what you pay for anymore. Just excuses.
In October 2009, we purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio topload washing machine for almost $900, because my wifes sister had a 1-year-old one and had been pleased. The Cabrio replaced a 3 1/2-year-old Maytag that died with a seized-up transmission. Maytag is also a Whirlpool product for those of you who do not know. We had issues at first with it going off balance but dealt with it. It was also taking 40+ minutes to do even a small load of laundry, but again, we dealt with it. Fast forward about 3 years, and we notice the machine is making really loud sounds during the spin cycle. I checked for any obvious issues but found none. The noise kept getting louder with each use. Finally, I called a repairman to check it out. His diagnosis was quick. The bearings were going bad in the machine, and he said it would eventually fail. He quoted me a price of between $400-$500 to repair because the job is very labor-intensive. I declined the repair but still had to pay him a trip charge. Then I checked with my wifes sister about hers, and she said hers had been making a very loud sound for several months but they were just ignoring it. I told her about the diagnosis of mine and advised her to tilt the machine back to look under it. Sure enough, there were oil stains under her machine, just like mine, indicating the bearings were failing. So we have 2 Cabrio machines, one 3 years old and the other 4 years old with the exact same problem. I called Whirlpool since I had registered the machine when I purchased it. They basically told me to go fly a kite since I had not purchased the extended warranty. They said I could attempt to repair it myself to save money, but they advised to have their repairman do the work. Well, no kidding. What a joke. They expect you to buy a $900 machine and have to replace it every 3 years. I am done with Whirlpool products. FYI, Kenmore products are also made by Whirlpool, so Sears is not an option. My wifes sister and we bought new GE washing machines, and both of us purchased the extended warranty this time. For $129 (5 years), its cheap, peace of mind. Whirlpool is crap. I would suggest never buying any of their products. I know we never will. Once they have your money, they dont care.
I bought my Whirlpool Convection oven in mid August 2019 from Lowes. I have had to call no less than 5 times about my NEW oven which I am extremely remorseful of buying. I am so unhappy with my experience mostly due to my expectation that my new oven would have been able to meet my demanding needs baking and cooking. I would have thought that it would have lasted longer than 4-5 months. The bottom left hinge is faulty which I am told is an undocumented problem for this particular oven. I noticed that it was having a problem when the oven wasn’t quite making a seal. Slowly it got worse until now it makes an initial click then I can open it about 5 to 6 inches and then have to lift it up so that I can open it without making a horrible noise and a dent in the frame. The first time I called was on Saturday Jan 4th. It took me 1 hour to get through to speak to a person. I asked why I couldn’t get a new door to the oven and they told me the hinges have to be installed separately because this model is made to be able to take the door off for cleaning purposes. They set me up for service on Wed Jan 8th between 12 and 4p. I wasn’t as unhappy at this point. I even got a text saying that the appliance company would be coming between 12 and 2. At 12 when I woke up after working nights, I got a message saying that they hadn’t received the part yet and that there would be no point in them coming. I called Whirlpool again and they told me that the part was on backorder and that in fact the part had to be fabricated and it may take up to 10 business days but that they would have the part sent directly to my house. By this stage I am very unhappy.I called back this morning and told the person that I would rather have a new oven or my money back and that my less expensive and less decorative oven that came with my house lasted me 20 yrs. I get a lot of “I’m sorry” and “I apologize” but that doesn’t fix my problem. I also told them that now the frame of the oven is being dented so I am going to have a less than perfect appliance which is no fault of my own. The only info the person could give me is the tracking number of the part they were able to locate which would be coming Fedex.I tracked it and it was due to come no later than Tuesday night. So I called the original service company in my area who told me to call to set up the service time when the part came in. I figured I would get a jump on it and call. They told me that they were all booked up this week and I would have to wait until next week. Do you think that this is how your customers should be treated? I feel as though I am being punished by choosing to buy an appliance from Whirlpool. I then tried calling back to set up an appt with a new company but the wait time was too long. I had just worked nights and needed to get some sleep. I called back this afternoon and again had to explain the whole situation AGAIN. I was able to set up an appt with a different company for Monday between 12 and 4 which happens to be on Martin Luther King day…so I am hoping it is not a mistake.Do you think this is fair treatment for a customer who just bought a brand new oven less than 5 months ago? Would you like this type of service? Would this give you any confidence to buy products from Whirlpool? I don’t believe that I would be able to recommend Whirlpool in good faith. The people who I have talked to have never been rude or disrespectful however, I feel as though my unhappiness is just par for the course. I feel as though it is just my tough luck and “oh well so sorry” instead of the attitude that you want to make everything right as quickly as possible. I ask myself if the problem was the store I chose to buy from? If I should have gone to Sears and bought one of their products or where I went wrong.
Whirlpool Duet Sports washer purchased 11-08 was found defective by service technician due to improperly secured bolts on counterweight at factory. I contacted Whirlpool service and was informed that warranty will not cover any parts or labor. I ordered parts for repair. It will take at least 2 weeks until arrival and repair of item. Clothes washing now were taken to town for washing at additional expense. After repair, only 90 days of warranty was given by the service technician. The cost of $260 to repair item for a possible life cycle of only 90 more days seems ridiculous.
I have had my machines for years, and always buy Whirlpool. So far so good, had to replace my washer and dryer approx 11 years ago and still ok no problems yet. Wish I had the money to buy one of those bigger ones someday.
Purchased a Whirlpool Electric Range August 2015. Purchased it because it looked pretty and the Aqua Lift Cleaning feature sounded too good to be true. As it turned out it WAS too good to be true! I have just read a # of reviews about this range and I agree with all complaints. Does anyone like this range? The AquaLift cleaning technology is a joke! The baking temperature fluctuates & I could not figure out how to improve on that (for the longest time I thought it was just me not being able to figure out my new oven). The most serious concern however, happened a couple of weeks ago when I turned on the oven & immediately the oven started to smoke and an electrical smell permeated throughout the house. Had I started the oven and immediately left the house our house would no doubt have been destroyed by an explosion/fire.Phoned Whirlpool & because the problem was so serious they had a serviceman at our door within 2 days (yes I am being sarcastic, it did take 2 days). At no time did the call centre express any concern nor did they advise me to unplug the range and to make sure I did not use it. Obviously, I would not use it but shouldnt that be something they advise as part of the checklist talking points.Serviceman arrives 2 days later & advises us that the parts alone would cost $650.00 & oh yes the labour costs to install the parts would be charged by the minute. I didnt even ask him how much per minute because only an idiot would repair this piece of junk!! The power cord to the range had basically melted right through; you could scrape the char right off the cord. The computer part of the range was shot and had a strong electrical smell to it. The serviceman basically said that I shouldnt shoot the messenger and charged us 93.45 to tell us that it was going to be a very costly repair.I disliked this range almost immediately and was looking forward to the day when I would have an excuse to purchase another electrical range. I did not think I would be shopping for another range within 1 1/2 years from the time I purchased this piece of crap!!! Nor did I think that there would be a possibility that this appliance could potentially be hazardous to my family and home. How long is Whirlpool going to ignore all these customer complaints? This range should be recalled! It not only is selling features such as the Aqua Lift technology that do not work properly, it is selling a potential fire hazard.I will never again purchase any appliance that is made by Whirlpool. Whirlpool makes a lot of appliances and uses names such as Maytag, Amana. KitchenAid, etc. I have purchased another range and this one is made by Frigidaire (no connection whatsoever to Whirlpool). I dont know what my experience will be with my new Frigidaire Range but so far I am loving it! Hopefully, my new appliance will not nearly burn my house down. Whirlpool: Step up to the plate & take responsibility for the defective electrical range you are selling before there is serious harm to persons or property! THIS ELECTRIC RANGE NEEDS TO BE RECALLED - MODEL # YWFE715HDEHD.
Washer does great job and happy with the results, very well. Appearance of dishes are good and leaving dishes very clean as well, would recommend this dishwasher to anybody. The color is also great and matches up with my stove and refrigerator, making the kitchen look very nice and great approach for other appliances to match.
Whirlpool Cabrio Platinum Washer - Worst purchase ever! Washer will NOT clean clothes. It leaves detergent residue on everything and I use liquid detergent. All of my husband’s dark police uniforms have grey powdery looking streaks on them after they come out of the machine. Does not matter how I load the clothes. The horrible results are the same. Even rewash and extra rinse, streaks are still there. This model, Cabrio Platinum was very expensive! Never buy a Whirlpool.
We bought a nice stainless dishwasher from them and got the three year extended warranty. Parts of the racks have slowly been breaking off, and now its started leaking from the bottom at the end of its cycle. We called Home Depot only to find out we were 3 days over the warranty, and basically out of luck! We will never buy another Whirlpool again, or shop at Home Depot.
We purchased a Whirlpool front loading washer about three years ago. During our first year the machine worked OK, but three months after warranty expiration (12 month warranty), the sensors seems to go wonky and it no longer worked (at 15 months of age). We paid about $95 in the Minneapolis area for a service call. The repairman had to call Whirlpool from our home to inquire about the sequence of flashing lights on the sensor. After getting off the phone he told us he thought he knew the problem, but could not guarantee that the $200+ part he suggested ordering would solve the problem. The installation would require additional labor charges, of course. I reported the incident to the manager of the repair service and was told the repairman was expert in Whirlpools but this did not further inspire confidence. We were not willing to sink this amount into the machine, so ditched it and bought a top-loading inexpensive Roeper. The top-loading machine definitely appears harder on the clothes than the front loading Whirlpool, but it gets the clothes cleaner and has been problem-free so far.
I bought a Whirlpool refrigerator from Home Depot. It didn work. I had to wait for a week to get a new fridge.. I also bought the 5 year warranty -- its not worth the ink its written with. MAYTAG DOES NOT ANY CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY DONT KNOW A THING ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE.
I bought a water heater in 2008 from Lowes department store. The heater would continually go out causing no hot water. The company had sent several technical repair men out to resolve this problem, and still the problem remains. The Technical Support requested that they will pay for the part and I could install it, not knowing if I am able to do such a job. The technicians who were sent to my home were not able to do the job. How do they expect me to do the job without proper experience? Whirlpool products are not reliable nor is their maintenance contract. Stay away from this company.
I bought a Whirlpool Duet Front Load Washer in 2008 and it began showing F71 and F70 error code in 2011. I paid approximately $1,000 for the machine. The washer wont finish the cycles and often wont start. When I press the power button, I hear the 3 beeps and after a while, shows the F71 error over and over. The information I gathered online indicates that many people have the same problem. The repair cost is at least $550 to replace the user interface circuit board and is no guarantee. This is ridiculous. How could GE sell consumers this kind of junk that fails to work only after 2 years. I had a top loader for 12 years with no problems, not a single repair call. My wife and I are extremely frustrated with piles of dirty clothes and no washer to clean them. I want GE to refund the cost of the washer on a 10-year prorated basis. This is only fair.
My side-by-side lasted 2 years 3 months. It stopped cooling. Lost all my food. Inconvenienced by waiting for repair service. Had to take a vacation day from work. This refrigerator replaced a 13 yr old GE and the one in my garage is 25+ years old and still going strong. No help from Whirlpool or Lowes. I will never own a Whirlpool anything ever again.
This new oven came with my house. I like the oven but hate the aqua clean feature. It is impossible to get the grease off. I cant reach the back sides or the back. I scrub with all my might on parts I can reach but the baked on grease is back with the next use. The aqua clean feature is only good for light spills on the bottom. I like a clean oven. I am now looking to replace a practically new oven which will run me about $2000.00 which I am not happy about. I highly recommend the high heat cleaning feature ovens. I also developed a pitting area on the bottom the size of a quarter & I dont know how that occurred. Buyer beware of aqua cleaning features.
I loved the Whirlpool Refrigerator! Nice size and always worked well. Had to replace it after condenser quit working. This current fridge is unhandy in many ways. No light in the freezer and size is too small. Had to fit into existing space, but does not have as much storage space as the KitchenAid that fit in the same space.
We bought a house almost 10 years ago and it included a Maytag washer and dryer. About 5 years ago, we decided to buy the Whirlpool front loaders. What a mistake as the washer shook every time it ran. After several warranty service calls and days of vacation waiting for the service, they finally said they couldnt do anything. During that time I had been in contact with Whirlpool and asked for them to take them back. Of course they wouldnt. I asked for a swap for top load washer and they would need to also replace the dryer to match: still no deal. It took a letter from a lawyer to make it happen. They also bought back the washer and dryer stands which covered the lawyers costs. So shortly after I received the Cabrio washer and matching dryer, the lid is very heavy which I believe the lid spring broke. I refused to call the service company as I did not want to go thru that crap again. I also know I can fix it myself easier and without all the drama. I keep waiting for another failure but so far all is acceptable. Whirlpool is not the same company as they were when I made my living doing warranty service for Whirlpool! 30 years ago they were the best in the industry. The Maytag pair was giving to our relative and they are still working flawlessly. Unfortunately Whirlpool now owns Maytag. This experience has cost Whirlpool replacing our kitchen appliances. As much as I want to buy American, I will go with Bosch or LG only.
Just bought 4 new whirlpool washers and dryers for my new four plex I am building for clients. Two of them leaked violently along the wall and downstairs. Did I see they were BRAND NEW. Total garbage. Now I have to pay for servicemen to come and fix it. NICE AND THANK YOU for your poor quality commitment. Now my clients are pissed off because they cant move in because whirlpool makes garbage material. So the extra cost it has cost me is totally unthinkable. Whirlpool, ask me if will buy from you again. Thanks for ruining everything due to your inconsiderate quality levels.
This morning is the fifth morning I had to take a cold shower. My hot water heater keeps going out. When we call, we are told to dust the underneath better, as it sucks dust. Are you kidding? The hot water heater is still under warranty, which means I will have to spend around $200 to have repaired again. So much for top of the line.
I purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator less than a year ago and both the door and icemaker have a problem in which PC Richards, the store I purchased it from, has had to service the refrigerator at least 3 times and have not resolved the problem. The door does not close properly and every time I use the icemaker, condensation builds up. Each time a tech person comes to my home, a different reason is given. I need this problem resolved. I dont need to monitor the refrigerator like a sick patient.
I got a Whirpool Cabrio Washer that I purchased in 2008. I am constantly getting ul code. If washer is leveled, it leaks water out the bottom rear of the washer. Its a piece of junk. I called Whirpool to no avail. Whirpool will not stand behind their product. They know they have a problem but wont do anything about it.
We purchased this Gold Series Whirlpool Dishwasher about 4 years ago. It worked very well up until April of this year. At that time, the main pump stopped working and it has to be replaced. There are just two of us in the household so the dishwasher was only used 2 or 3 times a week. We also kept it very clean with no build up. The gasket around the soap dispenser came out and one of the wheels fell off of the bottom rack. We just feel that 3 1/2 years is too soon for a major appliance to stop working and fall apart, especially given the light usage.
I have always chosen Whirlpool or a Whirlpool product such as Kenmore or KitchenAid. Preferably with an actual agitator in the tub. As a very capable handyman, repairs have been easy and relatively reasonable in cost. My units are 15 years old and going strong.
