I bought on 14/4/12 a Model-205 Orchid Wine refrigerator. The defrost knob was replaced by service last month, as it was not working. For the past four days, there are lots of water formation on the freezer door and vegetables are getting spoiled due to water formation. I request them to replace the refrigerator.

We bought this fridge about 5 years ago, it was the exact same model as one we bought in 2003 but everything had changed, the plastic for the drawers was a fraction of the thickness in the older model and it breaks and cracks with the slightest bump like setting the lettuce in, the frame of the door is full of cracks and the fridge keeps leaking then freezing and making puddles on the floor. The little plastic tabs for the ice dispenser broke. It is absolute garbage. The one we bought in 2003 was great clearly the company has NO integrity or desire to make a decent product. I wont be buying anything Whirlpool EVER again.

My experience was terrible. We purchased a side by side refrigerator on June 27, 2011 and it stopped working in December, 2011. We reported this onDecember 19, 2011. A repairman was sent out a few days later, who could not solve the problem because a piece had to be ordered. The piece was ordered and the repairman came to install the part on December 28, 2011.The refrigerator is still not working at all. We have been without ice for this period of time, not to mention the inconvenience of non-refrigeration of food. I pleaded for them to pick up the refrigerator and give me even a partial refund. I was told that three repairs had to be done before they would even consider picking up the refrigerator. I am not a person who complains, but this was ridiculous. I will never purchase another Whirlpool product.

From the day I bought the refrigerator the icemaker has not worked. I have had a estimation of service calls (8) and nobody seems to be able to fix it. Whirlpool mailed me a new icemaker and still the exact problem; water and ice works but the unit still will not cube or crush ice; which by the way is the reason I bought a new refrigerator. My thoughts are I bought a lemon and the entire fridge needs to be replaced.

Bought a standard 18 cubic foot top mount Whirlpool when moving into my first apt. The refrigerator cost a little over $500.00, is spacious and energy efficient. No ice and water in doors and no chip boards for any controls but still working perfectly. It is now 30 years old and never even serviced. When buying appliances get basic, do the job units and nothing with chip boards. They are still sold today and the fridge I have costs less now.

I bought my refrigerator model WRS49/WR151 from Courts our local appliance store in November. The side panels of the fridges gets extremely hot which make me think it can set on fire at anytime. When I contacted the store two days after purchase they made it seem as though it is something normal. I never had a refrigerator that got extremely hot that I can scramble some eggs on it. Thats why I cant even rate my experience.

Got a fridge Friday night setup, and was not cooling as of Sunday still. Called Best Buy who we got it through and they sent someone out first thing Monday AM to look at it. Per the Whirlpool agreement, the first year has to get serviced through them. Finally got a hold of their service support to get someone scheduled to come on site. 11 days later was the earliest appointment, and they just expected me to deal with no refrigerator for 11 days. I asked of other options, what wait times would be after Whirlpool comes out in 11 days to deem it broken and they repeatedly said I cant give you any what if answers for anything. Were no help at all and just expected me to figure out things for at least 11 days on a brand new 3 day old machine that is broken. The absolute WORST customer experience ever and refuse to buy from them again. Thankfully, Best Buy has a return window so were completely returning it and going with a different brand.

I purchased this Whirlpool Gold Series Refrigerator WRF990SLAMCO in 2012 and it cost me $2400.00 from Lowes. Worst purchase I ever made!!! I will never again purchase or recommend a Whirlpool product. I paid for extended service agreement from Lowes. Before the first year was over, ice was forming on the inside roof of the refrigerator and the whole cooling system/grid needed to be replaced. Then the cooling system went out, followed by the ice maker (PS the ice bucket container was rusted within the first year), then the whole electrical panel on the front of the refrigerator where the ice/water dispenser is.For the last three weeks I have had water leaking out of the top of the refrigerator adjacent to the water filter. My home warranty wont cover. It is a $400.00 repair to replace the circuit that attaches from the water filter. I called Whirlpool 2/14/2017 to complain about the product. She tells me that there havent been any complaints logged about the refrigerator. Seriously??? Read your reviews! The gal on the phone offered a discount to purchase a NEW PRODUCT! Are you serious??? Take my advice. DO NOT BUY WHIRLPOOL. They do not care about their customers or creating a well made USA product. Ill buy foreign next time!

I had my Whirlpool Gold refrigerator for two years. I observed water puddling out of the bottom of the freezer about every three days. I called Whirlpool to find out if there was a recall on my problem. There was none although refrigerator repair companies said there should be as Whirlpool has a defective part. That part is the drain for the freezer as it clogs up and does not allow water to drain and then refreezes. When the freezer automatically defrosts, some ice melts and as a result the water comes out of the bottom and puddles on the floor in front of the refrigerator. I recommend that people do not buy Whirlpool refrigerators unless you are willing to pay over $200 to replace the end of the drain line in about two years.

Hello. We bought this refrigerator from Costco, so we can have extended one year warranty for the appliance. When we need this then we are not getting help. Our Fridge is not working from last couple of weeks. Technician came a day late to see the fridge, then order the part on the 01/03/2017, I didnt hear back from service provider till 01/11/2017. Finally I got a callback after spend an hour on the phone saying that it will take one more week. I had to call Whirlpool to expedite service and because of weekend I have to wait another 4 days to get the part. There are 7 people living in my house including 2 yr old. We are having hard time with the food and waste of food. We probably throw away $200 worth of food. And spending money every single day on food. I have to buy every other day for my 2 yr old. Whenever I tried to call for compensation, I get transferred to different department. I am so tired with this kind of service. I would never buy any appliance from Costco or Never refer to anyone. Very very bad service.

Love my new Whirlpool Refrigerator! Works well and no problems for the last year. Filters are pricey but found some at Lowe’s cheaper. Whirlpool stays in touch frequently emailing information about their products, some useful some not applicable. Would I buy this refrigerator again? Yes, I love the ice maker, it is quite large (enough to fill a small cooler), and the convenience of crushed or cubed ice is nice. Most people complain about the motors are loud yet we have not experienced that.

This fridge is very spacious in the fridge area. The freezer area is larger than a model with freeZer on top or a side by side model. I purchased a high dollar built in side by side fridge with custom panels in 4/2005 and had my first service call in 5/2005. Since 2005 we have had 11 service call mostly for defrost failures and over temp. readings. From 2011-11/20/2013 we were issue free then the fridge over temp alarm sounded and we could not hear the fan motor. We had the certified tech come out to evaluate and found that the main control board needed to be replaced. Kitchen Aid/Whirlpool no longer make this item and forwarded us to Core Centric solutions to have a new one built. After speaking with the certified tech who had been out to service our fridge 11 times he informed us that these boards in his experience have never lasted more than a year. We spoke with a customer service rep a Kitchen Aid and asked about a prorated discount on a new built in fridge and she said it seemed reasonable but after checking for authorization informed me I needed to have the board rebuilt at my own cost and that even though this typically takes about 4 weeks to build the fact that our family would be without a fridge is not Kitchen Aids problem. 6/20/2005-over temp/not cooling call (replaced defrost thermostat) 9/2005-over temp/freezer iced over in bottom (freezer decided and drain unclogged) 10/05-over temp/not cooling (replaced fan motor) 9/06-over temp/freezer iced over in bottom (drain line decided, kitchen aid had no advice on how to fix) 10/06-over temp/not cooling, ice build up (whirlpool recommended replace heat kit and bimetal) 11/7-over temp and ice buildup in freezer with leakage (adj to drain pump and defrost drain basin made) 11/07- over temp and freezer icing over (whirlpool sent out a new heater probe) 6/08-over temp and ice buildup (bimetal and foam block replaced) 10/09-over temp, lights and motor shutting on and off (replaced defective board) 10/09- fan making excessive noise (ice buildup found on evaporator fan)11/13-over temp ice buildup in freezer, burning smell from fridge and no air movement or cooling in either compartment (need board rebuilt as on 10/09)Board no longer available from whirlpool, must be custom built at owners expense and will take up to 4 weeks. D/t continuing issues and whirlpool not willing to help the customer with replacement I would highly suggest no one buy a Kitchen Aid fridge.

We bought model WRS571CID*** which has an in-door ice maker that has stopped working after exactly 3 years. An excellent authorized service rep advised that the wire harness from the freezer to the door was damaged by chafing from normal opening and closing the freezer door, which has caused the ice maker wires to break, thereby disabling the ice maker. The only remedy is replacing entire the door, which would cost $1700 according to Whirlpools published repair data, which he is obligated to charge. Apparently, the wiring harness is not a replaceable part, because I suspect the labor hours needed to disassemble and reassemble the door is prohibitive. Well, a new fridge costs about the repair. I spoke to the Whirlpool company about whether they acknowledge that the design is faulty and that the door should be replaced at their expense even out of warranty, and they declined. So I advise prospective buyers to be aware of this issue and watch other reviews. There are many customer reviews on various sites complaining about this very issue. Our workaround is to put ice trays into the freezer to make ice, and while the dispenser still works, pour the ice thus made into the ice dispenser manually - until the wire control that also becomes damaged and stops working. I would not recommend buying this model.

I bought the W04H02 SKU Number 13219771. I decided to wait to write this review until Trail Appliances hauled away this piece of junk, which was this morning. I bought this fridge July 2013. In June 2015 the freezer first konked out, so I started using my deep freezer. Then by October the fridge went. I called in my repair guy, who told me he sees this all the time with this fridge and carries many motors for these garbage fridges in his vehicle at all times. So $375.00 later it worked for about 3 1/2 months. Just long enough until the warranty again ran out. At this time I started to read the reviews about Whirlpool, and I was so mad at myself for not reading the reviews first. All I can say is I would never ever recommend this product. I am glad to see this junk out of my home. I never wasted TIME CONTACTING WHIRLPOOL, AS BY THE REVIEWS I READ, THEY DONT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS. THEY ARENT WORTH THE TIME.

These are very expensive and yet they are very low quality and of course are not covered on the warranty. The plastic is not built to withstand the cold and/or weight of food products. I purchased Whirlpool Refrigerator model WRF989SDAM02 in June of 2014. I began having problems with the ice forming into a solid block shortly after having the refrigerator installed. I called for service several times over the next year trying to rectify the problem. Once the warranty had expired I continued upon the advice of Whirlpool Customer Service to schedule their certified Technicians to work on the problem. A year and a half and several hundred dollars later I am still unable to get ice cubes when desired.Ultimately I was advised that I would need to use the ice maker once a day to keep it from forming into a block. When this didnt solve the problem I again contacted Whirlpool, had another of their recommended service technician come and give his advice. I was told that the ice maker needs to be in constant use or it forms a block and this is a defect in the design of this unit. A Pro Tech Appliance Inc. Technician, an authorized Whirlpool technical representative, said the only way to have usage of ice would be if I made sure to dispense ice a minimum of 8-10 times a day. This is completely impractical and just plain ridiculous. I contacted Whirlpool again. They refuse to acknowledge this is a defect in the design of this model. I have replaced all parts that can be replaced, had the unit resealed and have paid for multiple service call. Whirlpool will provide no remedy for this problem. Now that the unit is out of warranty they have refused to provide a resolution even though its issue began while still covered under the year warranty. The ice in the ice maker is completely unusable and melts into a solid block within 24 hours if not in continual use.

WORST EXPERIENCE USING WHIRLPOOL REFRIGERATOR. I purchased a Whirlpool Refrigerator in July 2013 (Model - Whirlpool Ref New 495 CLUB IMPERIA). Suddenly it stopped working on May 12 and I registered a compliant to the customer care. Engineer came in same and I was surprised by the service, he checked and said he rectified the problem and he left. But the problem was still there and it was never rectified. I launched the complaint again on May 13 and engineer came again and said there is gas problem in Compressor and he left by saying that another engineer will come to refill the gas in compressor. Next day new engineer came in he checked everything and said this compressor is not working and needs to be replaced. I said go ahead and replace it, he said it will take 1-2 days. I said “ok lets do it.” But now theyre saying that they do not have the compressor in stock and they will change the appliance. Again as I do not have another option I said “ok lets do it.”Now the drama start: they are saying I need to pay 20% as a depreciation of the total cost of the refrigerator + INR 1000/- (Cartage) + difference of the new refrigerator which comes to around INR 21,000/-. Well can someone tell me why I need to pay this huge amount when my appliance is still in 10 years of warranty and its just compressor problem and rest of the product is just fine. After fighting with them come to a conclusion that I need pay INR 10,200/- and I will get the new appliance. Now when I already paid the DEMAND DRAFT (DD) of this amount now no one is responding to me on when I will be getting a delivery of the new Refrigerator. Only God knows when I will be getting this. In this HOT summer we are facing a lot of issues just because of their bad service. No one from Customer Care is giving me any response nor are they taking my calls now.Now can someone tell me what I should do? I am left with no option and thinking of taking a legal action against them and thinking of launching a complaint in Consumer Court against them. Please give me your suggestions and send me your response at **. If anyone from WHIRLPOOL is look into this, please help on this matter urgently and respond me back ASAP.

The drawer guides on the large clear drawer at the top of the whirlpool refrigerator are very flimsy causing the drawer to drop when pulled out to the stop. When I called about this I was told it was cosmetic and not covered under warranty. I purchased the extended warranty which will replace the flimsy parts with the same flimsy parts. On 6/24/2024 Denisia sent me new side rails, exactly the type I have. I replaced them but the right side one broke. I regret ever owning one and will not recommend a whirlpool product to anyone. It is very obvious to anyone, after using this product, that that particular part is not safe and is definitely more than a cosmetic problem. I have already dumped the contents on the floor once and have just managed to catch it more times than I care to count. I spoke with Danielle on 5/14/2014. Try to call Whirlpool and you can forget it. 37 Minutes wait time, then a recording comes back and says now your wait time is 47 minutes, long story short you just get put on hold. No help what so ever. Lowes did give us an air filter. But we still got rock solid fresh eggs in the refrigerator. So it was not such a great deal after all. My wife has one big headache and mad as a hornet at Whirlpool. Bet we dont buy another Fridge from them. If I were you Id stay away from Whirlpool products. Have a great day.

If you are on this website, keep reading. You will definitely find many people that have your same problem. We purchased our refrigerator 5 years ago. Since then we have had a leak inside of it which is gradually forming mold that I have to cleanup. The ice maker and water dispenser do not function for months at a time. I just purchased 2 drawers for the same reason as the review on May 5, 2016. The tabs break off of the front panels and the panel falls off of the drawers. Theres no way to pull them out. We paid over $200.00 for two drawers!I spoke with customer service at Whirlpool and read them the 2016 review. Their answer was that you should not believe everything you read. My answer was, How cant I? Its happening to the refrigerator I own. They just kept giving robotic answers. The conversation was that of someone that is in denial of having a problem. They dont care. Instead of at least offering a discount on the drawers, she offered me an over $400.00 one year warranty. Pathetic! Whirlpool has just lost another customer.

The French door fridge with the freezer drawers on the bottom are very flexible and easy to access. It goes downhill from there. The ice maker takes 4 days to fill up the bin with no use. The unit does not defrost and freezes up every six weeks requiring a manual defrost. Three mods have been made under the service contract and performance has not improved. PC boards have been replaced and at least one thermistor. My understanding is this is a single compressor unit with piping, relays and valves to port refrigerant to two different evaporators as needed. Unfortunately it simply does not properly balance/defrost and the freezer door freezes up. It certainly is not compatible with a high humidity environment. We will never buy another cooling design like this, but sure like the French Door layout. Glad we have a service contract.

We bought a Whirlpool side by side at the end of August 2017. In March of 2018 - the day after I got the letter about extending my warranty - they had to replace the diffuser - it was making a horrid noise and freezing my eggs and milk. This part went again in July. I insisted they extend my warranty which they did - until March 2019. The part went again in November. I again demanded an extension - now it is guaranteed until June 2019. I asked about replacement and was told that as long as it was reparable they would not replace it. This part is dying every four months. The first few times I called, the hold recording touted a repair app - that did not give me much confidence in the company.

I would like to extend my appreciation to Whirlpool for quickly responding to our requests. Within a matter of days, we were contacted by a Whirlpool corporate representative. She listened to our issue and was extremely understanding of our frustrations. The representative assured us that we were valued customers and offered to contact our local service provider and authorize the needed repairs to our refrigerator. This interaction has restored our faith in Whirlpool and its partner brands. The representative also provided guidance on future purchases in contacting Whirlpool to purchase its extended warranty.I would suggest using Whirlpools warranty program instead of a retailers program. Contact Whirlpool to purchase any extended warranties directly, instead of purchasing an extended plan at the time of purchase. Thank you to Whirlpool and to our extremely helpful representative. I am not including her name, to protect anonymity.

I bought a Whirlpool french door refrigerator, model # ED5LVAXWS about five years ago. I didnt have any problems until last month, on August 25, 2016. The ice dispenser stopped working, and the refrigerator went off. I had to throw out a lot of food. I got a new extended warranty that day, and a serviceman came out the following day, 8/26. It turned out he wasnt a repairman, just someone to diagnosis the problem and order the parts. The part was ordered, and the fridge would be repaired within 5 days, but the part was delayed because of a Hurricane Hermine, which completely understandable. On 9/8 the repairman arrived, but he realized that the original guy who diagnosed the problem was in error. He had ordered a compressor, and what needed to be replaced was the thermostat. As of today, 9/29, the part is still not in -- I was told its on backorder with no ETA. If I didnt have a mini fridge, Id be at a complete loss. I called what I thought was Whirlpool to complain about the part taking so long to arrive, but was told they can do nothing. It turns out that a company called AIG U.S. Warranty Division handles Whirlpools guarantees. I am not a happy camper.

Whirlpool Gold (Model No. GX5FHDXVY04), expensive French-Door style refrigerator , with bottom freezer pull-out drawer, purchased in 2010, has drain line that repeatedly blocks, causing frozen sheet of water on bottom of freezer and consequent leaking of water onto wood flooring (ruining said flooring). To add insult to injury, 5-year extended repair warranty I purchased specifically EXCLUDES drain lines, leading me to believe that this is a well-known problem that is costly to repair which is true because the drain line and pan on this particular model is nigh impossible to access without upending the unit (two people required) and accessing the bottom panel of the unit. This appears to me to be a design defect that Whirlpool should correct -- at its expense, not mine. I am currently reviewing possible courses of action, to include, but not limited to, BBB complaint and litigation.

Refrigerator caught fire - I own a 2003 Whirlpool Gold side-by-side refrigerator that I bought new from Lowes in 2003. On Friday, July 13, 2012, I woke up to the smell of burning wires. I called 911 and they sent out a fire engine. While waiting for the firemen to arrive, my neighbor came to help me determine where the smell was coming from. Within seconds, we heard loud clicks and a huge cloud of gray smoke came out from behind the refrigerator. The firemen arrived, entered the house, unplugged the refrigerator and told me that the smoke and smell was coming from behind the fridge.

Purchased a Whirlpool side-by-side refrigerator model #ED5KVEXVB07 in July 2012 from Sears for about $1000. Unit quit cooling late Dec 2014. I did not purchase the extended warranty, so the Whirlpool 1 year warranty was all I had. The repair technician (local company, not from Whirlpool directly) told me that the compressor had seized up, and the repair would be at least $300. I thought Id call Whirlpool just to see if theyd be willing to do anything for me. Long story short: No. I told the person on the phone: “I will never buy another Whirlpool appliance.” She said: “Im very sorry about that.” After I hung up, I thought: If Whirlpool was really sorry, theyd stand behind their products for a part that should not fail after only 2.5 years.

Then because I had to have the ice maker replaced in March and it did nothing for the unit he reports back to A Plus Appliance that theres nothing to be done and he says his diagnostic tests come back that it is fine. Im going to post a very negative review about them. Lowes told me that if he would have reported differently they would have given me a voucher and refunded my money. So have another Appliance repairman come in tomorrow.I bought the extended warranty and so far its gotten me nowhere. As many times as Ive had to unclog it and throw away food I could have had technicians out here hundreds of times for this defective refrigerator. Plus on the two service calls I had they said that there has been numerous complaints about this model and the ice maker and freezing over. I have thrown thousands of dollars of food away over the last 2 years. Lowes extended warranty has got me nowhere.

Whirlpool model WRF560SMYB04 - We purchased this model Whirlpool in Dec 201
Whirlpool model WRF560SMYB04 - We purchased this model Whirlpool in Dec 2015 after having a refrigerator for 18 years with no problems. We started having cooling issues in late 2017 and finally an intolerable fan noise in April 2018. Researched it and purchased a fan. Opened up the freezer panel and found that the unit was completely frosted up to the point where ice had formed around the freezer fan and was hitting the blades. Contacted a repairman who came out and called in the issue to the Whirlpool tech line. He was told that he should check continuity on a couple of wires. If these checked out, the problem was the user interface board at the top of the refrigerator. We purchased a new board for about $100 and installed same. No change. I was now $250 into repairs and no further. We became aware of Whirlpool Service Pointer W10875533A which described conditions that we were experiencing. The issue was a coil thermistor that would corrode (apparently within 2 years) and would not provide accurate signals. Whirlpool also issued an instruction sheet W10902213 Rev A describing how to relocate the thermistor and protect it with foil and tape. My repairman came out, confirmed the thermistor ($54) was bad, replaced same following the Instruction Sheet. We were now out over $300 on a $1000 refrigerator purchased 2 years earlier.Whirlpool issued the Service Pointer (not to consumers, but to repair shops) in Sept 2016 (within our warranty period). We received no notifications from Whirlpool of the defective design. Nor did we receive a recall notice. Moreover, Whirlpool tech group must have known about this issue, but instructed my repairman to replace the interface board. Whirlpool knows they have a defective product out there but are doing nothing to inform the consumer or stepping up to correct the problem. We have contacted Whirlpool to recover our expenses...will let you all know how that goes. Anybody interested in pursuing a class action?

I will NEVER purchase another product from this company again. They seemingly left a faulty product on the market and failed to inform me about the known issue. Then they failed to quickly provide needed repair or replacement in a timely manner. They also refuse to reimburse me for the food loss, which would not have ever occurred had they handled the issue appropriately from the beginning. TERRIBLE company. In addition, since Lowes is aware of the reputation of this company and continue to sell their defective products... I will not be shopping at Lowes anymore! The exterior look of the refrigerator (WRX735SDBM00) is impressive and the stainless steel does not show finger prints easily. It has two french doors on top, a middle drawer, and the freezer drawer on the bottom. The interior is 25 cf, but there isnt much space, even with reconfiguring the shelves, and the crisper/meat drawers are so small, that a large bell pepper wont fit. When one French door is closed it pops open the other door, which then does not close back tightly. Although there is an alarm system to warn a door is open, it only works if the doors are open and not just cracked. We have to constantly push on both doors to be sure they are closed tightly, even after washing down the gasket to get a better seal.

I purchased this refrigerator and have had problems with it from almost the
I purchased this refrigerator and have had problems with it from almost the beginning. First, the doors wholl not stay open long enough to remove items. The technician Whirlpool sent out said the cause was an uneven floor. I checked with a level and the floor is almost completely even. So, then it said thats the way it was intended to work. Isnt that what the adjustment wheels on the bottom are supposed to correct? They dont. One individual in Whirlpools customer service department told me that the doors were not a functional part of the fridge and, therefore were not covered by the warranty. What?Next the refrigerator leaked and ruined the ceiling in the floor below. A few weeks after that was fixed (the fridge, not the ceiling), the unit completely shut down and I lost a tremendous amount of food. Bad enough to have to go through this but then to have Whirlpool treat me so the horribly was absurd. Fridge broke on Friday and a service person came out on Wednesday. Tech tells me he has to order the part (control box) and I find out the next day that the part was on back order. I had already been without a fridge for a week when Whirlpool tells me the part was not available until 9/19 (this was on 8/6)! That was not an acceptable solution so I requested a refund or a new fridge. Nope, their job is to repair, not replace. They said they needed 7-10 days to see if they could get the part earlier. What? Then if it couldnt be repaired in a reasonable amount of time they would consider replacing the appliance. They would not define reasonable amount of time.I believe I spoke to about 10 or 12 different whirlpool reps, and was told 4 times that a supervisor would return my call. One person did call back when I was unable to answer the phone and I called her back within 20 minutes. Guess what, she wasnt available and she never responded to my 3 return calls. When I complained that I had spoken to so many different people and was tired of telling the fridge saga to yet another person who would not help me, she volunteered to be my point person. She gave me her direct extension and said she would handle my case. I left 3 or 4 messages for her and she never returned my call. In other words, I was constantly told that I would receive return calls but never did. In summary, no one cared that I had an almost brand new Whirlpool refrigerator that was not working and that the date I could expect a repair was indefinite. In addition to all of that, every time I called they were experiencing a high call volume. Maybe they could hire more staff? When this all started, Home Depot told me I had to go through Whirlpool because it was under their warranty for the first year. Finally I decided to go to the store (after all, I did pay them for the fridge). After 3.5 hours in Home Depot, they agreed to replace the refrigerator. I havent gotten it yet (they did send over a small loaner), I am really hoping this is the end of this fiasco. I want my life back!! !

Plumber had to be called in and he has had 3 of this same model replaced! Years ago you could trust Whirlpool. Now apparently not. I hope we do not have to regret our replacement one which still is not installed! By the way the water filters have to be replaced to the tune of 100.00 a year. I purchased a new Whirlpool stainless steel French door refrigerator MSRP for $2,500 in good faith. If something were to go wrong with the appliance, Whirlpool would fix the unit as applicable under their accompanying written Whirlpool Corporation Major Appliance Warranty for the duration of one (1) year from date of purchase. However, this has not turned out to be the case at all. As per their written Whirlpool Corporation Major Appliance Warranty for one (1) year from the date of purchase, when this major appliance is operated and maintained according to instructions attached to or furnished with the product, Whirlpool Corporation will pay for factory specified parts and repair labor to correct defects in materials or workmanship that existed when this major appliance was purchased. Service must be provided by a Whirlpool designated service company. My refrigerator was purchased on 10/27 and delivered on 10/28. Service repair performed by a Whirlpool designated service company was on 11/30, 12/30, 1/9, 1/18, 2/9, and 2/23. A future appointment was scheduled for 3/22. Whirlpool’s designated service company notes from 2/9 specifically state that the refrigerator will not run and parts were ordered. Whirlpool’s designated service company returned on 2/23 for parts installation and noticed that other components of the appliance were not functioning properly and proceeded to call the tech line for support. After hours of troubleshooting and multiple failures to function properly, the service company deemed the refrigerator as un-repairable and clearly stated in their notes that the unit was not cooling, there is a manufacturing defect, restriction in the units seal system, and the unit needs to be replaced. I was instructed that the tech line would complete the ticket, send the information over to Whirlpool Corporation, and I would need to follow up with Whirlpool’s customer service to set up the delivery of a replacement and haul away of the non-working defective refrigerator.Furthermore, the company (manager Wanda at the TN office), had already promised to replace this unit if the service repair performed on 12/30 did not fix the unit, which the company has never honored and has since decided to recuse themselves of this promise made on behalf of their employee. In addition, this Whirlpool manger (Wanda at the TN office) even gave me her direct phone number and extension to follow up with her. She has never answered any of my 10 phone calls over a period of 3 weeks and never attempted to return a single voicemail that I left for her. Since the promise of a replacement refrigerator, I contacted Whirlpool by phone on the following dates: 12/30, 1/3 and 1/16; 1/17, 1/19, and 1/30; 2/20, 2/24, and 2/28; 3/2, 3/9, and 3/13; and 3/15, 3/16, and 3/19. I as well have emailed them information they have requested on 2/20, 2/24, and 2/28.Below is verbatim of the last few Whirlpool customer service representatives that I have had correspondences with.2/28 (Tabitha): I have sent in your information for the PEX (replacement unit) since I see here that your unit is un-repairable. Someone will continue to contact you within 24 to 48 hours to go over the PEX process with you.3/2 (Brittany): I see we received your file on March 1st; however, it was denied because the request was blank. Can I place you on hold on a moment? (After a long pause) I apologize for leaving you on hold so long. Your records were listed under two different accounts on our end with one being linked by your phone number and another being linked by your address; therefore, all of your records have probably not been viewable. Upon further review of your information, our Whirlpool designated service company that performed service on 2/23 will have to call into the tech line to complete their notes before we can proceed. No, you cannot speak to a manager. If you wish to have a manager contact you, one will do so within 24-48 hours. You cannot speak to a manager because at this time there is nothing they can do to assist you; unfortunately, this process is moving along at its fastest place and there is nothing more we can do for you at the moment. There is nothing that we can accept from you to speed this process along, even though your copy of the service company’s receipts include the statements of work from our designated service company. If you wish to escalate this matter, you can write to Whirlpool Customer Relations Department at 553 Denson Road.3/9 (Kia, supervisor): Although our designated service company may deem your unit un-repairable, Whirlpool has to deem your unit un-repairable for a replacement to be issued. At this time, Whirlpool does not deem your unit un-repairable. You will need to contact our designated service company and have them forward over your information. I am the highest level of supervision for the company and if you wish to escalate this, you can write to Whirlpool Customer Relations Department. Their mailing address was already provided to you previously. At this point, our conversation is over. We will not be replacing the product as we do not determine it to be un-repairable. Thank you for calling Whirlpool. The information we have discussed will be documented. I am the highest level of management for the company, so your request to be transferred to management is denied. I am aware of everything you have said and I have documented this information. At this time, I am done discussing this with you and will now hang up the line. This kind of customer service is not only discourteous, but it is despicable in the upmost matter. This displays complete corruption in regards to the written warranties provided by Whirlpool Corporation that come with your Whirlpool product at the time of purchase. Currently as it stands on 3/20, my $2,500 valued Whirlpool refrigerator is just under (5) months of the purchase date and has been deemed as having a significant manufacturing defect, as well as needing replacement by Whirlpool’s designated service company that they hold a contract with. Yet, Whirlpool refuses to replace the unit and refuses to speak with me based on the ground that only their contractactually designated service company deems the refrigerator as un-repairable, but they do not. My refrigerator has not worked in weeks! From reading the Whirlpool appliance product reviews online, I discovered that I am by far not the only consumer that has suffered from victimization on behalf of Whirlpool Corporation. I saw numerous consumers who had purchased the exact same product (matching model number) as me, had issues, and Whirlpool refused to assist them. Therefore, I think that we as consumers need to take a stance to stop these unethical practices of Whirlpool Corporation and demand that they honor their written warranty for their products. This company’s abuse and neglect of their consumers is absurd.

WRF989SDAW02 - Oct 2013 1st refrig delivered. After 4 repairs within 6 months, Whirlpool put in a request to the Exchange Review Board to replace. New refrigerator (same model though) was delivered May 19, 2014. 4 repairs later for the exact same thing with the 1st refrigerator, it was again sent to Exchange Review Board to replace. New delivery was set for July 30, 2014. When delivery company arrived at my house with new refrig, I was told it was smashed on both sides. They would take care of contacting Whirlpool and schedule a new delivery date. From July 30, 2014 to present I still have no refrigerator from Whirlpool. I have 15 documented phone calls to Whirlpool or JB Hunt (delivery company).

I bought a counter-depth French door refrigerator for our new build. I had to wait 6 months for delivery since it was on backorder. When it arrived a door was bent. Lowes replaced it with a door that had a leaky ice maker. Ice and puddles of water intermittently appear on our new wood floor. Whirlpools technician told us WE would be charged if they couldnt find the problem. Whirlpool rep confirmed. Also the manufacturer warranty began at purchase date instead of delivery date.

We bought a WRS325FDAM02 Side by Side Whirlpool Refrigerator and from day 1 we have been having problems with rust buildup on both doors. Bought it in July 2014 and have had the service people over to figure out the problem many times. They finally decided to replace the doors which didnt help because the replacement doors are doing the same thing. We have bought everything they told us to buy to clean and try and prevent the rust from coming back but nothing helps. Our warranty was ready to expire so we bought the extended warranty only to find out that cosmetic issues are not covered under the extended warranty plan... Stay away from this model refrigerator... Not only that we were then told the doors are not really Stainless Steel just some fake crap that looks like Stainless Steel. We paid good money for this refrigerator and have to deal with cleaning rust off the doors day after day.

This series is a complete dud. We purchased a home in 2015 that had a Whirlpool Gold Series refrigerator. The home was built in 2013 and appliances were brand new. The majority of our neighbors, whose homes also contained this refrigerator, have had to repair or replace this model. None of the homes in my neighborhood are older than 4 years. We will not be purchasing anything Whirlpool associated in the future.

If you like having to use a funnel to refill plastic water bottles, and enjoy ice splashed all over your kitchen floor then the Whirlpool Gold refrigerator is the model for you. The problem with ice is if you dont have your glass sealed up to the ice dispenser it will shoot ice out over the top of the glass, and even if you DO do that when you try to remove your glass to cut off the ice supply it continues to disperse ice everywhere. TIP: The only way to more efficiently stop ice from spraying all over your wood floor is to do this: When your glass is full of ice, simply open a door on the refrigerator. That IMMEDIATELY stops the flow of ice OR water. Works great, and its the only way to deal with this horrid design flaw in this product....

Wife and I bought a WRF990SLAM00 fridge in 5/2013. Seemed like the nicest model Lowes had at the time. The first one delivered had problems: it wouldnt stand level or seal properly, and had to be replaced. Another unit was delivered a few days later. This one - the same model - worked very nicely, for a year and a half. A few days ago, it got loud. My wife noticed in the freezer, some things were beginning to thaw. We called Whirlpool, who said, Oh, its over a year, and youre out of warranty. Sorry! Ok, so they suck. After we had a technician examine the freezer, he suggested, This is something Whirlpool needs to address. It wasnt the first (or fourth) problem with this fridge that hes seen. Called Whirlpool again, this time to gripe. Sorry, youre more than a year, so no warranty BUT, well sell you a service contract for $330! Hows that sound? It sounds like Whirlpool just disqualified themselves from ever getting their hands on another dollar from my family. Theres too many other companies who DONT treat their customers like garbage.

How would you like to be without a refrigerator for 10+ days? How do you justify 10 days without a service tech being available for what I call an emergency! Either you need to hire more technicians or make BETTER products. My suggestion is have a supervisor go out to a call first and access the problem. My case, a tech shows up after waiting 10 days, to tell me my refrigerator needs all the parts. Which means Ill have to wait probably another 2-3 weeks for the parts to arrive. Im sure the parts werent ordered to be expedited. Im beyond furious. We lost everything in our freezer. Doesnt stay frozen in coolers. When we purchased the refrigerator, just under two years ago, the service tech was out three separate times because our ice maker kept going on the blink. Finally, I purchased ice maker, because your refrigerator only makes ice when it wants. Not reliable! Second problem, the lights in refrigerator & freezer went out. Real smart to install LED lights that can only be replaced by a technician. Insane for the consumer. (Cost of lights replaced w/o warranty contract is $100). DONT BUY WHIRLPOOL PRODUCTS UNLESS YOU ENJOY MISERY!!Why would you put glossy black finish on front of refrigerator, and the sides have black texture, where you cant see fingerprints. Has to be cleaned daily! Hope you can rectify the problem before two more weeks pass. Model: WRS322FDAB. SERIAL#: HR72710418. Not a fan of your lemon of refrigerator. Near 3 years ago we purchased this side by side going by how good Whirlpool products are supposed to be. Recently the bottom freezer started frosting up and not clearing. Tried all suggestions in the manual. Could not find any information online. The manual was useless. I went online to Whirlpool support 3 different times asking for help. Never got a reply. The racket it made was driving us crazy. It short cycled since it was frosting up. Set up an appointment online. They got that correct and responded quickly. Go figure. The tech came was very nice & professional. No warranty. Find out they only provide a one year warranty. That is absolutely nuts. A refrigerator should last 15 years with no major problems. Should not have needed a $500.00 extended warranty for a $1,300.00 refrigerator. Turned out 2 components needed replacing. Cost just over $400.00. Now were worried it is going to fail again in who knows how long. Whirlpool used to be a respected brand. Never again will we buy a Whirlpool product. 1 year warranty show you they know how cheap they are building their products.

Bought a Whirlpool 25 cu ft side by side in 2011 and now just 4 years later the compressor is bad. Called them and they only have a 1 year warranty, which is nothing for a compressor. They told me for $350 they could replace it and it be good for only a year. Not going to sink more money into a product even the company has no confidence in. The repairman advised to stay away from Whirlpool as they were not the company they used to be. Also the salesman at Lowes where it came from said they used to have a 5 year warranty but changed several years ago and the quality also went down. We have had refrigerators last 25 to 30 years in the past but no more thanks to modern technology. Thanks a lot. STAY AWAY FROM WHIRLPOOL!

This complaint refers to model number ET8MHKXMB. It was purchased in November of 2008 and the fan had to be replaced on May 29, 2012. The cost of this repair was $189.79. Fridge was purchased in Feb 2012 from one of the home improvement store chains - along with an extended warranty. It worked flawlessly for about two years, at which point it began draining into the freezer compartment and eventually onto the floor (up to a quart or more at a time). Initially this was a rarer occurrence, happening once every few weeks - but has recently become more and more commonplace. The extended warranty purchased with the appliance covered direct repairs, but am told it will not cover the associated damage to the hardwoods. The local technician contracted for repairs was familiar with the root cause and was able to diagnose immediately upon viewing the brand and style of fridge. As was explained, the drain systems are of extremely poor design leading to icing and blockage of the drain itself during defrost cycles. The only fix at that point is to essentially turn the refrigerator completely off (remove power) and manually defrost the entire thing. The repairs were conducted same day as this review, and as such I am unable to say whether or not the fix is a lasting one.As a note, Ive not experienced any other mechanical or electrical failures or shortcomings with this model. It cools effectively and properly and has not had any history of trouble with making ice - as some other reviewers have experienced. The door containing the ice dispenser (left side) however, does not stay open, swinging shut from full open in a little over 4 seconds. Im still awaiting a complete estimate on the floor, but an initial value on damages is in excess of $1,000. Given current knowledge and the opportunity to choose again, I would select another manufacturer.

I am completely dissatisfied with the competence and accountability that I have encountered while dealing with Whirlpool Canada. I ordered a Whirlpool Refrigerator in September of 2011. I opted to switch the door swing myself since it is a relatively simple task and of course they charge you extra if they do it for you. Once I had the door installed, the last step was to screw on the handle. The door was missing the threading which allowed the handle to be installed. I contacted Goehmans to set up a service call. They looked at the fridge only to tell me that they needed to order an entire door. A month and a half later I had not been contacted by anyone regarding the whereabouts of the replacement door.Long story short, over four months later and after hours of phone calls recounting the details of the events numerous times to numerous employees, all Whirlpool had to say over and over again was I understand, but unfortunately we do not provide any compensation.” They said that the warranty only covered repairs and not product replacement, which would be fine if it ever broke but they delivered a fridge that was not built correctly in the first place. They took no responsibility for the lack of quality control. After speaking with the supervisor Josh, and insisting that we be compensated for the inconveniences and frustration, he finally agreed to extend the warranty by 3 months. I told him that they should offer a year extension since if they stood behind their product that it wouldnt even cost them a cent. He politely told me that he understood and what email address did I want the extended warranty information to go to and that he would offer only the 3 month warranty. When I received the email, I found out that I had yet another phone call to make in order to engage the extra 3 month warranty.I am extremely frustrated with the level of service and I feel as though they school their employees to be therapists that offer no solutions. They were all very willing to listen and offer a sympathetic ear, tell you that they understand but not to take action or offer a solution. They seemed to think that it was acceptable that I pay them full price for a fridge but not deliver the full appliance for a projected 6-8 months. In my book and to most consumers, this is not acceptable. When I pay full price for a product, I feel that a full product should be delivered to me in working order. Whirlpool got their money and the special order door seems to be at the low end of their priority list. How else can they justify a 6-8 month wait for part replacement?Somebody please sell Josh a car with no stereo system, make him pay for the option and see if he if he thinks waiting 6-8 months for it is acceptable. Oh yeah, and waste 6-10 hours of his personal time trying find out where the heck his stereo system is then tell him how much you understand. I guess I can stroke Whirlpool off as a brand of appliance for any future purchases.

It was on sale and the price was good for comparable refrigerators. The biggest problem is that instead of a simple dial to control temperature, you have to be a computer genius to figure out how to turn it to a different temp. even by the instructions. And the ice maker throws ice all over the floor even if you hold the glass up against the top. When I first got it, it made a very loud noise when it run, but that changed with time to a bearable volume. Everything seems to work well other than those few little things.

I have owned a Whirlpool Gold Series Refrigerator for one year and 9 months. During that time I have had 7 repair issues. Each of the past ones took at least two weeks to repair. This past repair has to be redone because the new parts are also bad. The part is now on factory backorder. It will be at least two months for this to be repaired. Whirlpool says its too bad, we just have to deal with being without a working refrigerator for months. Do not buy this product!!! The warranty only means that you are forced to wait months for repairs. They will not replace, refund, or even extend the warranty for all this downtime. You have no recourse with the company.

And then $100/hour + parts after that. Highway robbery. My doctor doesn’t even charge me that much. I will never buy a piece of junk WP product ever again. In January 2011, we bought several appliances and a refrigerator was one of them. The model number is G15VAXVQ01 which is a side by side, French Door Ref with water and ice on outside. We have had problems with the very cheap plastic drawers that are at the bottom of the refrigerator to hold vegetables and meat. We have to be extremely careful so they will not break when opening the drawers. As of late, the fruit and vegetables have been freezing. I went to change the temperature on the outside gauge and dropped the control to 33 degrees and it stuck there. I tried to unplug the refrigerator to reboot the system, to no avail. The temperature is stuck at 33 degrees which will freeze most of our food in a few hours. The freezer side temperature gauge does work.We also have problems with the ice/water machine. I pushed the water button a week ago and from then on, I couldnt get the ice to come on. I did unplug the refrigerator to reboot and then I was able to switch over to the ice, but I could not get back to the water side. Also, there is no crusher on this machine so the ice comes out in chunks. If we had to do over again, we would not buy a Whirlpool as it appears that they are not interested anymore in quality products and consider cheap junk something to be desired. Not by us! We will get this albatross fixed and see about getting rid of it. It is a buyer beware market so I suggest others beware of Whirlpool products.

We bought a Roper refrigerator about seven years ago. Less than two months later two of the cheap plastic door shelves broke and we had to buy replacements at over $20 a piece. Since then weve had to replace one more. Tonight another one broke so well have to fork over another $20+ to replace this one. I checked the Whirlpool website and they have the exact same flimsy plastic shelves as the Roper. I will be in the market to purchase at least three refrigerators in the next two years and you can bet that they wont be either Roper or Whirlpool. My advice to anyone in the market for a refrigerator to steer clear of these two brands as their shelving is cheap and shoddy.

Worst appliance we have ever bought. Our last fridge (also stainless french door) we had for about 14 or 15 years and only the door bins cracked that we put gallon milk jugs in (dont do it - they are too heavy and get warm from the door opening). This fridge is a piece of junk. We were told it was stainless - rust spots started appearing the first year. The deli drawer lid broke within a month or two, but I didnt care about that so I just threw it away. The ice machine stopped working a little after the first year. Today however is what got me to write a review - I spent a couple of hours trying to duct tape and make wood supports to hold up the frame for the produce drawers - one of which is totally cracked when it fell from having the support break. While doing this I noticed there are hairline cracks on the front of all 4 of the shelves! Also, this one has a wire basket in the bottom instead of a full drawer - probably more supportive, but it means stuff constantly falls into the bottom of the fridge and it is extremely hard to get in there to clean.
