First of all, I want to thank all of you who took the time to write all your comments. You have helped educate me in many ways. For one thing, I had no idea that Whirlpool made such bad appliances, or at least water heaters. I pretty much grew up in a Whirlpool household. But that was a long time ago. Things change. Anyway, I too bought a Whirlpool from Lowes about four years ago. It was the top of the line 50 gallon energy saver, and it has had problems staying lit for the whole time I have owned it. Because I read your comments before contacting Whirlpool (this time), I knew exactly what to expect. And that is what I got at first--someone trying to sell me parts via shipping costs. I said no to that, and a rep called and offered to replace the unit, which is exactly what Whirlpool should have done for all of you. I am writing this out of courtesy for Whirlpool. They did the right thing for me, and I truly do appreciate that. On the other hand, Lowes wants $700 to deliver and install the new unit. I live seven miles from the store. They set my other water, the Whirlpool I purchased from them, up in my garage. It is extremely easy to get to, and it is all up to code. In other words, even though they sold me a defective product and profited from both the sale and the delivery, they now want to do it all over again by charging so much for the set up. They did not even offer to prorate the new install. Of course, I will hire and pay a certified plumber to do the job, but I am very sorry to lose Lowes. I have always enjoyed shopping there. Home Depot is just across the street, and even though I have learned not to purchase a water heater, or any major appliance there either, I will go there from now on. Losing my business might not worry Lowes a whole lot, but two years ago I bought $5,000 worth of fencing from them, and God knows how much over the years. If you and I and all the thousands of other unhappy customers would stop going there, they might feel a bit sorry for doing us all so dirty. Agreed? Thanks again, you guys.

Everyone has been impressed with how quiet my Whirlpool Gold Series dishwasher was and how clean the dishes came out, but that didnt last but 3 short years. In the life of a dishwasher, 3 years should be less than a third of the life expediency. I purchased a 3 year protection plan from Sears only to find out that it included the year you get the new appliance, so it just added 2 years. Just my luck. I have bragged and bragged and bragged on this dishwasher because it was quiet and cleaned so well, but now I know that was premature because it should have last much longer. I sure didnt get my moneys worth.

I bought my Whirlpool Cabrio washer from Lowes in Statesboro GA on 2-14-14. I did purchases an extended warranty on it. After 11 months is when I started to have my problems. I was washing my clothes. I did not hear my beep on my washer. After 2 hours my laundry should have been done. I stopped on the wash cycle and shut off. I put it on the rinse cycle thinking it washed my clothes. It shut off during the rinse cycle. I called the Lowes repair. ** was to come the next day, He did not show up. I had to call again. It took 2 more days before he came out.It takes over 6 business days before I get my part. I have to have my laundry washed else where. It did the same thing again. I called. ** came out. He ordered the other part. It took 7 business days. It came in Tuesday. I tried to wash my daughters comfort on Wednesday. It did the same thing. Shut off during the wash cycle. I called at once. ** was to have been here Thursday. He never showed up. I called Friday. They said hell be there by 5. He still never showed up. I called back today .This time ** called me. He said, “So you tore it up?” I said, “NO it’s still doing the same thing.” He said hell be here tomorrow between 8-12. I am so tired of this washer. I even asked if I could get a replacement. They said no. I said this is stressing me out. I am on anxiety pills already. This is not doing any good. I paid all the money for this washer and it does not work. I have to arrange to have my laundry done some where else. All they said was sorry. This is the worse washer to buy.

Most of my appliances are Whirlpool - dishwasher, refrigerator, clothed dryer and the Cabrio washer. The washer before this one, I had it for over 10 years and replaced it because of rust (thats another problem with Whirlpool - rust). Now the Cabrio hasnt got all kinds of problems - UL, F1 and jumping. The serviceman asked me for $450 for repair; it included a set of springs for the drum, a new electronic board and a 30-day warranty on parts and labor. Im better off buying a new one (I cant afford at this moment). My wife is scared of the darn thing and refuse to use it so now I have the job of washing and standing guard to make sure the washer doesnt leave the garage. Thank you, Whirlpool - and my refrigerator works fine all rusted.

I have the 4.3 cu. ft. washer. This washer worked OK, but the lid lock does fail after about one year if the washer is in an environment where moisture may be present.I noticed the lid lock not working all the time about two months before the warranty expired. If this happens, call the warranty department immediately. After checking the ground wire and resetting the washer power over and over again, the lid lock finally stopped working completely. Here is how to fix it:There are two screws on the back of the top portion of the washer. Unscrew them from the silver straps. The washer lid will now push forward and up and off. Prop it up with a stick.Unscrew the two screws on the lid lock and start taking it apart (after reading this entire review). Be careful not to lose any parts and be sure to know where everything goes for re-assembly. Take pictures if necessary. Take the lid lock completely apart including any small pieces. The plastic slide needs to be cleaned. It has a spring that may fall when you pull it apart. The metal contact points inside the lid lock mechanism need to be cleaned. Be extremely careful when pulling the red cover off of the housing assembly. Pull the four metal contact points completely out of the plastic assembly. Be real careful with the black plastic slide piece, the metal rocker switch and the switch actuating motor. Use a small file and rubbing alcohol to clean off any green or white corrosion. Make sure to check all contact points.Re-assemble and you will immediately notice the lock switch working better. Re-install onto the machine. Re-install the upper portion of the washer. Start your laundry. Repeat after one year or when the lid lock becomes faulty again. These points should have been made out of a less corrosive material. Poor craftsmanship. Would not recommend.

In all of my 50 years of marriage and buying stoves, I have never had an oven breakdown. I live in Canada - I purchased three appliances, all Whirlpool 2 years ago. I had to have a service call on the fridge three weeks ago - a little rubber nipple was clogged up and water was running into my freezer. Bill $100.00 - two weeks ago, the broil element in my stove would not turn off when the bake cycle heated up. Actually, you did not have to press the fast heat button as the broil came on by itself. I have been waiting almost two weeks for the part - today I was told it would be another week. The part has to come from the US - what ever happened to Whirlpool Canada???? - I am told the bill will be $350.00 and maybe more plus the service call. I do not find this acceptable. What do you do when you have already invested the money in the product. Bring back the old Moffat stoves. I would like to be reimbursed for the money I have put out and will put out.

I bought a Whirlpool 3.4 Cu Ft. Top Load Washer, Model: WTW4800XQ on Sunday. Today is Tuesday morning, but the machine broke last night. It lasted for about 5 loads and they were not big loads, unbalanced, and yes I had the right amount of soap. Whirlpool is saying that I washed something that was not machine washable. However, that is simply not true. I washed the bathroom rugs (which have been washed many times before) and they are saying the pump is clogged. If I had a washing machine 48 hours ago, do I really have to pay a service repairman to fix it? I will never buy any Whirlpool product again.

I bought a front loading Whirlpool washer a few years ago after having my old top loading Kenmore for 25 years. It seemed okay, but I did always have to leave the front door open and it always smelled musty, which was of some concern. My clothes never smell totally fresh. The biggest current problem is that several months ago it started with a failure code, alternately would stop without draining, wouldnt fill, or wouldnt drain, and ultimately ended up flooding my basement. So we called for service and they replaced a sensor and said these machines seem to have a lot of service issues with sensors blowing and motors dying. So I paid them that time. Now its a month or two later, failure code again, calling for service one more time. But if it costs too much I will join the legions of dissatisfied Whirlpool customers and will switch to an upright competitors brand.

I bought a Whirlpool gold model #GB2F-1DXW507 / k27711376 when we remodeled our kitchen in October 2012. After a couple months I noticed water on my floor, then in the bottom of the freezer. I called Lowe’s. They sent out a repairman. He said it was a flaw in the design and put the redesigned part in. When they delivered the fridge they changed the door to a left hand open and it was never right. After 2 years the ice maker stopped working. I just started buying ice. Today 5 years and 5 months later they said it will cost me almost $500.00 to fix the electric board and the Ice maker. The fridge stopped working would not get cold. And the certified Whirlpool repairman said it was a very good looking fridge and he would fix it with a 90 day warranty on the genuine Whirlpool parts for almost $500.00. I said I wasnt a idiot. Why would I spend that kind of money for JUNK. After reading some reviews I think Whirlpool knows just what junk they are selling. I called and all they said was, “Thats too bad. We will take it under advisement.” I bought mine 1st then 1 year later my sister and sister-in-law bought theirs. 3 fridges with all the same leaking issues. I hope they dont end up with all the same problems.

Whirlpool owned or bought out Maytag. My Maytag Washer (purchased a dryer also) was a disaster from day one. The previous set I owned (Maytag) was 20 years old when I decided to replace it. From day one, the washer literally walked across the floor while turned on (Maytag Performa). I had to sit there and virtually hold it down if I wanted to get my wash done. I called and called and they would eventually come out only to tell me that this was a substandard product from Maytag and I had better buy the extended warranty. After only 7 years, the washer completely stopped working and the dryer (Maytag) is falling apart. I purchased new Samsung washer and dryer and I absolutely love them. So you whine all you want about Samsung underselling you. I contacted you several times and all I received was lip service. I will never purchase a Maytag or Whirlpool washer and dryer and I’ll let all of my friends know about your terrible customer service!

8 cu. ft. Cabrio® High-Efficiency Top Load Washer with Steam - I bought a new washer. It did a poor job rinsing and spinning dry. Whirlpool customer threatened me that a service charge may be charge if the repairman came out and found nothing wrong. After calling three times I ordered a repairman out. The repairman explained that only way to prevent soap residue on your clean clothes is to use the bulky and deep water options. Also dont use high spin or when it spins your clothes dry, it leaves them in a tangled mess that requires ironing to remove the wrinkles. This washer is not ready for the market and must be removed until they can perfect it. It cost me $200 to return and exchange this model for the Front Load Duet, which works excellent. Whirlpool should be ashamed to have ever put this machine on the market.

The turntable could be more stable. My model is a built in over the oven option. Black & digital. It has lots of preset options & is pretty user friendly. I like the size & it is super quiet.

We purchased the Whirlpool refrigerator on July 9, 2012. Refrigerator was replaced on August 23, 2012. Since then there have been many, many service calls. I wish I had kept records to be able to tell you exactly how many times, but we purchased an extended warranty. From memory, I can tell you the ice maker has been replaced twice, new doors have been installed for refrigerator and freezer (replacing ice maker a third time), then within the last three months the freezer door was again replaced (replacing ice maker a fourth time). The gasket on the freezer door has been replaced. At one point the refrigerator was colder and freezing and the freezer was not freezing. Parts and pieces have been repaired on several occasions. The inside of the freezer door next to the ice maker is still frosting up and yet again the ice maker is not functioning and needs to be replaced a fifth time. In other words this Whirlpool refrigerator has been a lemon for us. Finally, we figured it out. There is a fairly large gap at the top of the freezer door between the case and the gasket. If you run your hand across the area where the gap is, there is definitely a dip in the face of the refrigerator case where you can see the top of the ice maker. A picture showing the gap is attached. I am not sure that our purchasing a store extended warranty was fortunate or not. My husband has insisted on repairing this thing over and over and over because of the extended warranty. I think repairing it is futile and the only people being punished by all the repair calls is us because we frequently do not have ice, we are losing food because of freezing or not freezing or cooling or not cooling as the case may be. Thank God, the warranty expires in July and we can repair this Whirlpool by replacing it with another brand -- not in any way associated with Whirlpool. If you Google Whirlpool, you will find that Whirlpool is affiliated with almost every other brand of refrigerator and really limits your choices. Based on my experience with this Whirlpool refrigerator, I will never purchase another Whirlpool or any other brand associated with the Whirlpool brand. The myriad of repair persons in my home probably find a Whirlpool refrigerator is job security for them.

Bought microwave two years ago, almost immediately when stove area got warm, the microwave would not work properly. It would beep, the info keypad would cycle, then freeze up. After unplugging and letting it sit for a while, it would work fine for a time. Now it doesnt work properly at all. We keep it unplugged until we need it then it may or may not work. I have had a service company look at it and the only thing they could figure was that was an electronic failure from the heat. I am concerned that it is a fire hazard and leave it unplugged. Not what I expected from a $1000 appliance. I wish there was a class action suit that I could join.

We bought a Cabrio washer model #WTW7300DW0 and are very unhappy. The clothes come out of the washer dirty, with chunks of soap, (yes we are using HE detergent) and patches of lint on them. The low water design is a joke. The clothes on the top of the load never get into the water. The lid needed repair from the first day we bought it. We have tried all the water settings and the clothes on the top barely move. Why hasnt Whirlpool figured out that this design is just not working? This product deserves ZERO stars! I purchased a Cabrio washer - dryer in October, 2013. I have carefully followed the instructions for the washer. I am hugely distressed about the large amount of money I spent on a washer that is absolutely terrible, horrible, awful., no words can adequately express how bad this so-called washer is. The low-water washing has torn up all of my new towels in the matter of a couple of washes. It has completely ripped out the hems of the towels and pulled long ragged strings in the towel. And these were not cheap towels. I am mad at myself for not researching better before buying. I hope my complaint can save another consumer from the misery I am suffering because of this shameful product.

I have had my Kitchenaid dishwasher since April 2010. I have the receipt as proof. I have recently had a professional out to replace a seal in the door, the gasket on the vent and the unit still leaks. The only places left are the metal body and door. I called to say I wanted the warranty honored. I was told one of their servicers had to verify. I agreed. Their servicer came out at the agreed time. He did not bother to protect my hardwood floors from his muddy shoes. He also absolutely wreaked of cigarette smoke. He proceeded to try and push me into paying for the same repairs I had done last week because he would not warranty the parts under warranty unless I paid him to replace parts a week old. I told him he was here to verify the leak not push me into more repair costs. At this point, he began slamming his tool box together and exclaimed Thanks for wasting my time. I called the Kitchenaid warranty number in my pamphlet to see about the warranty. They refused without making me pay for their esteemed professional to do the same work, a real professional already did. The best I was given was 30% off a new appliance. When they wont honor their 20 yr warranty on the one I have, telling me their unprofessional is so much better than the one I used who did protect my floors and treated me with respect, I have no faith left in this company or its servicers. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB. I plan to be very vocal with this companys refusal to stand behind their products and explicit support of disrespectful servicemen.

This is not what we expect out of a washer that we paid $900 for only two years ago!!!! We contacted Whirlpool and they offered to fix it for $350. REALLY??? I SHOULD NOT have to pour money into a washer this expensive after two years!!!! A couple of years ago I replaced my Whirlpool gas range because after seven years, the house was growing a gas smell that was becoming stronger. I called the gas company and they determined that it was the oven and not their problem. I called an appliance person who could not find the leak but charged me for the service call. Before I had him leave though, I called the gas company back and had the two talk. There was a conflict with their assessments. The service guy left frustrated. The gas company guy came back and again checked and told me that the oven is definitely leaking. He told me they use instruments, not soap, to determine leaks. With this, I was mad at the appliance company. After voicing my frustration, they were going to allow me to purchase a similar new Whirlpool freestanding gas range at a discount and deliver it for free. I relented and spent close to $600 for the new range. After installation, I realized that the quality was cheaper than my old one. The metal rods in the oven racks are thinner and less of them so they are further apart. The cooktop grates are already wearing and chipping. But the thing that has irked me the most is the burners. You cant adjust them to low for a long simmer because the flame goes out, not immediately, but when youre not around to watch it; and the whole house smells of gas fumes! I called the appliance store and they said that because I didnt buy an extended warranty and that a year has already passed, I would have to pay for the service charge. I called Whirlpool and they said that they have not encountered this problem with their stoves yet. Even while on the phone, I could turn every burner on separately and the flame would go out in a circular motion as I turned the knob to low. The only suggestion they had was to call my appliance company and have them look at it. I got nowhere and I was quite frustrated! These Whirlpool stoves should be recalled! Gas leaks are dangerous! I will never buy a Whirlpool again!

This is a very disappointing response from Whirlpool and Lowe’s. I will never again purchase anything from either company. We had to buy a new heater today, pay for installation and permits. This is a rip-off by Whirlpool and Lowe’s.

On 02/25/13 we purchased a Whirlpool Gold Series side by side (French door) refrigerator with an ice maker at the cost of $1,850.00. In April of 2014 the ice maker stopped working and the freezer at the bottom would not freeze food. Luckily for us it was still under warranty and was repaired. At the time of the repair, the repairman (associated with HHGregg) told us that the refrigerator should have been replaced since the cost of the repair was more than the fridge itself. Now July 20th, 2015, the same issue has surfaced. Again the ice maker will not work and the freezer wont freeze. I would not recommend this product or if you do pay the extended warranty.

I purchased my Whirlpool refrigerator 8 months ago model # WRF560SEXM which is less than a year old and already Im experiencing problems already. I have owned several refrigerators in the past which were older models and less sophisticated, and all of them lasted well over 10 years with no major issues, so to buy a new refrigerator through Whirlpool and have it malfunction in less than a year is unacceptable. Customers deserves better than this especially at these prices. My malfunction occurred when my ice maker stopped working and the internal temperature stopped working altogether, which caused all my food to spoil which had to replaced which was very expensive which infuriated me more and because my service appointment was a week away. I LITERALLY had to order out for food and purchase ice. And if this happens again I will have replace food and order food out again. WHIRLPOOL dont realize the impact this has on its customers. I would definitely not recommend their refrigerators EVER!!!

Bought a home with a Whirlpool WRF540CWBM01 french door refrigerator circa Oct 2016. The unit stopped freezing/cooling and the appliance guy replaced a relay and this did not help. I called Whirlpool to check on the warranty, only 1 year. Then, I called the extended warranty and they wanted $342 for 1 year and $567 for 3 year but wanted 60 days before this would go into effect. Hmm, wait 2 months w/out a working fridge, great idea. So, after 2 short years the compressor failed and nobody will attempt this job and cost is too high. Had to buy a new GE fridge w/ a 5-year parts/labor covering this type of issue. Whirlpool needs to fix these issues. Very disappointed.

The machine is two years old. It cost over $1,000 to buy. From the beginning, we have had mold issues with the machine. The entire house fills with the smell of rotten eggs every time we use it. The machine is used daily so it doesnt sit for long periods. Despite all the complaints online about their machines, Whirlpool refused to acknowledge that there is a design problem with the machine. They refused to make any repairs or buy the machine back and their only suggestion was to buy more chemicals from them to use to clean the machine. We have done this in the past to no avail. Oh, they did offer to send out a service company but on my dime. Whirlpool needs to be sued and I only wish that someone would start a class action suit against them. It really stinks when you try and do the right thing and buy American only to have the company not give a crap about their customers or the fact that their product is garbage. About 10 years ago, I had a Maytag front loader washing machine with the same problem. Maytag bought the machine back on a pro-rated basis, no problem, no question. Of course, Maytag is now owned by Whirlpool. Too bad they didnt adopt Maytags customer service policy. I cant wait for them to go out of business - something they deserve.

Cabrio Washer - Absolutely the worst thing I have ever bought... everyone told me to stay away from this brand. Bought in 2011... large tub... nothing but problems. My last washer was great... full tub with water, could soak or pre-wash. This one does nothing except create some kind of lint all over my clothes no matter what setting... I dont care about water usage (mine is free) but I do care it takes 50 mins to do a load where my other was exactly 20 mins (and it lasted me over 30 yrs!). This really sucks. I have seen other complaints but never a recall!!! NEVER EVER AGAIN!

Buyer beware. There was a class action lawsuit filed for our Whirlpool dishwasher some years ago. The control panel shorted and or overheated on ours in February of 2021, causing it to emit white plastic smelling smoke. (Glad we were home when we ran it.) I opened the door to turn it off and it continued to run, smoke and spray water all over the kitchen. Called Fire Department. Filed a complaint with Whirlpool. They sent a repair person to inspect and take photos. Its been 6 weeks and still have not received a call from them. I bought a Frigidaire. It is made by Electrolux. FYI, Kenmore is also made by Whirlpool.

Our 2005 whirlpool duet washer steel drum and plastic tub broke. My husband
Our 2005 whirlpool duet washer steel drum and plastic tub broke. My husband diagnosed the problem and opted to fix it to save money. The parts are under warranty but you still pay labor and technician visit running up to $250-$300. The plastic tub was obtained only if we paid for it $100 and the steel drum they sent under warranty. The plastic tub has a hole with a black plug and sensor in it. There is a discrepancy in the measurement of the old tub and new tubs hole that is slightly larger, therefore when installed a steady stream of water leaks out. I now have 3 plastic tubs as that was their solution, to send more of the same that did not measure correctly. An investigation was done to determine they were the correct parts. As asked we had a whirlpool technician come to verify parts were correct and being installed correctly and the parts sent would not fix the machine due to the hole discrepancy. Many calls were made to whirlpool and they continue to give me the runaround. They now are not taking their technicians information. The technician has given the information to 3 sales reps in the new england area and made several phone calls to whirlpool and no one is willing to give us a solution.

Ice maker kept freezing up. Im continually taking the ice tray out to unfreeze. The frequent removal of the tray eventually broke the tab off on the liner. Ive now been told this (liner) is not a replaceable part and since that is the case, the warranty will not cover. Im upset that the repair technician did not process the claim properly and state that the make had a problem freezing. What kind of company would manufacture a product that would have parts that are unrepairable? You spend close to $2,000 on a refrigerator, wouldnt you think you would have an ice maker that works? I know they hope to sell more appliances this way but you can bet I will not be purchasing another Whirlpool anything! We bought a Whirlpool washer (Model # WTW4900BWO) and dryer (#WED4850BW) and within 2 months I was having problems with the washer AND dryer. Every time I washed a load of clothes, the clothes would have some yucky stuff hanging all over it. I called Whirlpool and was told to try setting the washer on 1 Rinse with Softener even though I never use a liquid softener. Their suggestion did solve the problem, but why doesnt a brand-new washer work the way its supposed to? A short time later, my dryer buzzer stopped working and the knob would not advance when set on the Energy Preferred setting. I called Whirlpool again and was told they did not have a service technician in the area where I lived and that it was not likely that one technician would come on the same day to service both machines. I asked why they would sell their products in an area where they were not willing to service them and they said that is the choice of the store that sold it to me. Then they told me there was a service technician available about 40 miles away and they would fax the order to them so they could contact me. The technician who came did look at both machines and was able to determine that the control panel needed replacing on the dryer, but was not able to do anything about the Rinse Option problem on the washer. He suggested that I continue to follow the recommendation of Whirlpool as long as it works. I can do that, but Im not happy that a new machine does not work the way its supposed to. He also recommended NOT using liquid laundry detergent or fabric softener in my washer because it contains animal fat and can build up and cause problems. Nowhere in the manual did it say that. He took the washer apart and showed me how it was already building up under the washer basket. I told the technician that my laundry has had an unpleasant odor to it when it comes out of the washer and even after it is dry. He said that might be because of the small amount of water that is used in the energy saving washer. If these problems cannot be resolved, I consider this washer to be a lemon and hope it will be replaced with a new one. If I had to do it all over again, I would buy a traditional washer. I liked the idea of conserving water, but not if my familys clothes stinks.

I just finished reading multiple complaints that sound very similar to my experience in 2014. I bought a fridge for a rental unit in Oct. 2013. The freezer malfunctioned and froze up in back, 6/2014. Had multiple repairs with the problem going unfixed. After a couple of months with my renter without a fridge and laborious system requiring multiple phone calls on my part to get an exchange approved. The exchange went thru. It was delivered the am of Sept 11. Guess what? It was dented on the side. The delivery personnel thought is was prior reject and it was an attempt to get me to accept it as is with a small cost reduction off the original purchase price. NO thank you! So still no fridge from Whirlpool as of 9/13/14 that is functioning from Whirlpool and yet to have a call back from Whirlpool regarding the mishap. No apology, no remorse, just the way they do business. I will say that my local HOME DEPOT was willing to send me a loaner fridge for my renter for his garage. NOT ideal but better than nothing and quite nice of them and an example of what customer service should be! Thank You HOME DEPOT! SHAME ON WHIRLPOOL! Not sure how this will end but obviously is common them after reading the reviews. I am now concerned if they do replace it again with an undamaged fridge it will repeat the same dysfunction pattern and I will have to go this painful process all over again! EEEEK. Refrig WRT771REYBOO, VS33469859 BTW I had to pay for spoilage of food for my rent on multiple occasions because the repairs work for a week or so and my renter would stock up the fridge and it would go out and he would lose food. Whirlpool gave me a 50 food spoilage card after much complaining bc go figure the warranty does not cover food spoilage but apparently the extended does. Go figure?

I know that appliances are made to be disposable, but throwing away a $40 t
I know that appliances are made to be disposable, but throwing away a $40 toaster after 18 months is easier to live with than throwing away a $350-$400 dishwasher. We bought a new dishwasher at Lowes on October 15, 2015. It is now May 11, 2016. The manufacturers warranty was for a year. It has been about a year and half since it was installed. Not very long for an appliance that one would assume would last at least 5-10 years. When we called Whirlpool to see about a repair visit, we were told that the trip to the house would cost $105, and the parts could go as high as $250-$300. So if you weigh the original price to the repair price, having it repaired is not rational, but neither is throwing away a dishwasher thats almost new. Its still clean inside. No soap residue or anything in the tub. In the past, by the time we were in the market for a new dishwasher, our old dishwasher looked like it had been through the war. It just breaks my heart to know that a company is so slipshod at making appliances that they wear out in less than two years. There doesnt seem to be any recourse but to dump a perfectly good, relatively new dishwasher in the landfill. We are leaving a very big footprint by doing this.

Bought my 5 door refrigerator from Lowes in December 2016. Was delivered in January. Had a dent in the door so another new one was ordered that arrived in late January. From day one the dual ice makers have not made enough ice for our family. I called Lowes to have it checked out thru warranty. The repairman came out and said Its making ice. I cant fix something that is not broke. He suggest I buy a under the counter ice maker. What the heck! I pay over $3000.00 For dual ice makers and still dont have enough ice to supply my family. Cant believe Whirlpool puts out a dual ice maker in a refrigerator and it cant even supply a family of 5. The repairman said a normal family size is 3. I dont know where he came from but to me thats not normal. He was from Tutor Appliance Repair and was very rude until he realized he pissed me off then he blamed it on Whirlpool. The refrigerator is beautiful but Id rather have my old one. It made more ice than this new one does. Will I buy whirlpool again? No I wouldnt. If they cant stand behind their product and what its suppose to do then I dont need it. Bad thing I have to deal with this one for a while until I can purchase a new and better one. If you have this refrigerator dont plan on having guest or family dinners it will not hold up for ice tea. Not to mention after dinner drinks. Model # WRV986FDEM01. SeriAL # K63817128.

In Nov 2004, I purchased whirlpool oven GW395LPQ-00 from Sears. Let me preface this by saying I rarely use the oven usually just the stove top. In July 2007 after baking in the oven for a couple of hours and cooking on the stove top the oven went out of control. The temperature rose and burned the food in the oven. Whirlpool dispatched a technician and said nothing was wrong. Dec 2007 during a dinner party the oven again went out of control, raised the temperature on its own and burned the dinner. By this time I have used the oven maybe 25 times. Jan 2008 Whirlpool sent a technician to replace the circuit board. Dec 2011 Stove was on for 3 hrs at 375 - a batch of cookies in the oven for 6 minutes torched on fire, smoked up the house. I have had it with this stove! The oven displays error codes every time and the only way to shut it down was to throw the circuit breaker. I checked the internet to see if there was a recall on this stove - none. I cant believe it. I contacted Whirlpools Safety Department and once again got the run around that they want to send a technician to inspect the oven. I just want the oven out of my house and for Whirlpool to take responsibility to recall this oven & to protect their consumer. There are endless complaints from customers on the internet regarding this make and model. Consistently, Whirlpool takes no responsibility for their faulty products.

No idea when another refrigerator would come. Who is going to put all my furniture back? Who is going to put my food back in my refrigerator. I bought the entire Whirlpool package Made In America. I should have went cheaper and bought from China. Now there’s trouble with dishwasher and they have been out once already for that. I could worry about taking care of my health if I didn’t spend all my time dealing with whirlpool. Maybe they can bury me in the refrigerator and my daughter won’t have to buy a coffin. I make 1000 a month on disability and get 16 dollars in food stamps. I have thrown 1000s of dollars away after motherboard was fixed. I went and my friend helped and bought new groceries. My Cabrio washing machine is a hunk of scrap metal after five years of lite use. Replaced the electronics first, then a year or so later replaced the motor. Now its leaking from the bottom. Repair man said it is not fixable. I did not buy a warranty because it was too expensive compared to the value of the washing machine. My recommendation to anyone buying a Whirlpool appliance is to buy the cheapest thing on the market, so that you can throw it away when it breaks because they are made to break so that they can sell you extended warranties.

Purchased a 40 gallon gas water heater from Lowes. Installation was a nightmare trying to get the 3/4 pipe nipple fittings to seal. Once getting the two nipples to seal using extra thick Teflon pipe wrap, found the tank was leaking also. The return with Lowes was painless. Got another Whirlpool to replace, but angry about having to do the job twice. Wish I viewed this site first. Never would have purchased Whirlpool.

Washer is not worth the cost. After 4th year of use in a two person household the washer bearings are gone and require replacement. The washer sounds like an airplane. I was told based on my description of the issue that the water has leaked due to washing and spinning into the bearing assembly and has caused it to have friction. The Whirlpool warranty is just as costly as the machine.

This product is just DISAPPOINTING. The gas knobs got stuck TWICE IN 13 months only! The range is NEW! The first time 3 out of the 4 knobs broke, this time only one. It would not turn off, so we are forced to climb on the counter and turn the gas off every time we are finished cooking and turn it on again. The company wont be able to send us anybody till next week, which will force us to go on like this for NINE days plus, of course, the time it will take to order the parts needed. There is not even a back up emergency service, which should be in place since we are dealing with GAS! I have heard complaints about this product in this area: in my opinion the range should be recalled. Of course, the representatives one talks to are all trained to keep calm and reply the usual things: Oh, I am sorry etc. but the bottom line is that neither the product nor the customer service are good (the first customer service person was not very friendly either). I highly recommend that you AVOID this range if you are considering buying a gas one with double oven.

My new ACCU-BAKE oven was not baking properly. Always uneven results. Finally called for service, just in time before the warranty expired. The service rep informed me that I had not bought a convection oven. Well, duh! Of course, I knew that! He tested the temperature levels inside the oven and found a variance of 10 degrees Celsius, which he reported by phone to the company. He advised me to reach into the oven half-way through any baking process to turn my cake around, and it would bake evenly. I asked him if he had ever tried that himself. No, he said, he was not a baker. That was the end of the service call. No follow-up, no service. Today I learned that the company actually has this exchange in its records, but if I want to get the oven to work properly Ill have to pay for service, as the warranty has expired. I wonder what would happen if I ever tried the self-clean or Sabbath mode features on this oven.

WHIRLPOOL MICROWAVE HAS HAD MAGNETRON GO BAD 3 TIMES IN 1-1/2 YRS! I bought a Whirlpool Microwave Hood Combo Oct 2009. July 2010 the magnetron went in it! December 2010 the magnetron went in it AGAIN! This time we had to pay the labor to have it repaired because it was 2 months outside the warranty period. We did not want to pay because we knew having the same part go twice in one year that something is wrong with it. Whirlpool told us that if it happened a 3rd time that they would most likely replace the appliance for us. Well....July 2011 the magnetron went AGAIN for the 3rd time! Whirlpool told us to take it to a licensed shop to have it diagnosed to prove that it was the same part as the previous two times, fax paperwork from the prior two times, and have the shop call in the diagnosis of the 3rd time. We did all that, and they told us they wouldnt do ANYTHING for us because it was outside of the warranty period! Well they knew that when they told us we had an opportunity to get it replaced! THE SAME PART WENT BAD 3 TIMES IN A 1-1/2 YR PERIOD OF TIME. We trusted that the Whirlpool representatives were being honest with us during those phone conversations. Whirlpool can not explain why representatives would give us hope of a replacement (although each conversation is documented by their login and employee ID number). So not only did I buy a brand new MSRP $619 microwave, I paid to have it repaired the 2nd time, and to have it diagnosed the 3rd time, uninstalled and reinstalled the microwave each time, the inconvenience of not having use of the appliance during each occurance, and the unbearable suffering of calling in to customer service and repeating the story over and over to each representative. My house is brand new (we moved in to it November 2009); we bought ALL our appliances from Whirlpool. All I get for an answer now is sorry. That doesnt help me any financially having to repair and now replace an appliance that has been in use for only 1-1/2 yrs! I have seen $39 microwaves from WalMart last several years, so what is wrong with Whirlpools manufacturing?! Customer Service is unreliable, untrustworthy, non-sympathetic, and insanely frustrating! My question for Whirlpool is...why cant you make a product that lasts better (better quality=longer life=healthier environment and happier customers)? Why cant you stand behind your products better? Dont you care about the impact youre making on us emotionally, financially, and environmentally? The model # is GMH6185XVS0 Serial # is TRY3111264.

I just bought a new home, and it came with what was described as top of the line Whirlpool appliances. The Cabrio toploading washer worked for two loads then just stopped. After arguing with Customer Service for a while (They insisted this must be an installation error.), I talked with the builders. They gave me a different customer service number. My second call got me a repair appointment, during which the repairman discovered that the pump was in fact dead. Because this is a new model, they didnt have a replacement on hand. So, I will have to wait an additional week and a half before the part is installed. This is a product that retails for around $1000, and it lasted less than one day. My last washer cost $400 and was still running fine when I sold it after 10 years. I can already see the handwriting on the wall. After my warranty is up, I will have to replace this hunk of junk with something that has some reliability.

We had purchased a Whirlpool Duet Sport Washer and Dryer in 2007. Since that time we have had several repairs on the dryer, resulting in us having to purchase an entire new unit in 2011 (4 years old), along with mold that has accumulated in the washing machine on the tub and rubber seal that cannot be removed after several attempts utilizing several products that were recommended. The end result is our laundry that has been washed - comes out with a musty odor. Not happy at all with the top of the line, best possible machine to produce clean laundry as was sold to us! This has been a nightmare, and a totally dysfunctional appliance that should have lasted longer than 5 years!

We purchased a Whirlpool front loading washer about three years ago. During our first year the machine worked OK, but three months after warranty expiration (12 month warranty), the sensors seems to go wonky and it no longer worked (at 15 months of age). We paid about $95 in the Minneapolis area for a service call. The repairman had to call Whirlpool from our home to inquire about the sequence of flashing lights on the sensor. After getting off the phone he told us he thought he knew the problem, but could not guarantee that the $200+ part he suggested ordering would solve the problem. The installation would require additional labor charges, of course. I reported the incident to the manager of the repair service and was told the repairman was expert in Whirlpools but this did not further inspire confidence. We were not willing to sink this amount into the machine, so ditched it and bought a top-loading inexpensive Roeper. The top-loading machine definitely appears harder on the clothes than the front loading Whirlpool, but it gets the clothes cleaner and has been problem-free so far.

They have been out 7 times, March 26, April 1, April 8, April 13, April 27, May 5 and May 12. During those times they ordered and replaced the main control board 3 times and a thermistor for which we paid for parts and labor. The company now says they think we have a lemon and we are supposed to hear back within 48 hours whether we are going to be refunded a total of $504.48 we have advanced for repairs less the service call. They referred us back to Whirlpool and said they would no longer come out as the dryer cannot be repaired! Talked to Whirlpool customer service that says we didnt have an extended warranty and there is nothing they can or will do. This dryer was purchased on 12/31/11. They took the position that because there is no recall for defective parts for this model, there is nothing they will do. We bought a travel trailer and it has a refrigerator with an ice maker in it and weve only used for 6 months out of the last year. The fridge is already broken (doesnt cool). They promised they would fix it even though we were out of warranty (by 7 days). That was 2 weeks ago. Theyve had one person come out and look at it, that couldnt fix it and now theyre claiming that they never told me that they would fix it and they will only cover up to $100 for someone to come fix it but I have to find the person because they couldnt find anybody. I asked them that if this was a fridge in the house how would they go about fixing it and they said it was the same process. How do you expect somebody to go out without a fridge for two-plus weeks? So many people told us not to buy the Camper because it had a Whirlpool in it but we didnt listen and we are regretting that now. The worst part is that after 48 hours we were promised they would replace the fridge if they couldnt get anybody to come out and fix it because they already okayed for the warranty to be used. But now the lady didnt put it in the notes which her name is Terry. We cant get a new one and we are waiting for a supervisor to call us back which probably wont even happen!!!

Every time I would call them, they would give me stupid answers on what it could be. One lady got hateful with me. I have replaced every part several times and Im having problems. About every two to three months, Im replacing thermal couple. As of right now, Ive been without hot water for eight days. I called and he told me about a trip button that is in the little white thing that has wires going to the thermal couple. I push in on it and then tried to start my heater and it worked. We purchased this model in July of 2019 and have had nothing but problems with it since. The design is really bad - if you set the temperature on the ideal setting, everything on the top shelf freezes solid. If you reduce the setting to the one below ideal, your freezer doesnt get cold enough to keep ice cream hard. The ice cubes are a little more than half the size of our last Whirlpool refrigerator and the unit is noisy. Weve had Whirlpool out to work on it 4 or 5 times in the first 6 months and twice weve had to throw away food due to the unit not cycling on and off properly. Whirlpool has been my brand for years but I must say that after buying this washer #WFW75SHEFWO from Lowes - on sale, which is clearly a lemon, that I will never buy a Whirlpool appliance again. Not because I believe all of their products are subpar, but because the service on these units is unacceptable. The first call for service repair resulted in the Appliance Repair Service company missing the first appointment due to being overbooked, rescheduling and missing the second appointment due to illness, and the third appointment the guy finally arrived nearly five hours late. Supposedly they were a man short. When the technician finally showed up he claimed it was the board and the pump and scheduled a time to return to fix it and then he never showed up... No call whatsoever. Clearly a lack of clear communication and no respect for a customers time. I called Whirlpool to complain. Nathan, a supervisor was attentive. I requested a different company and was refereed to Appliance Doctor in North Hollywood. Rosa, the customer service receptionist at Appliance Doctor, is quite pleasant, professional and clearly wants to correct the numerous missed appointments that keep occurring with her Whirlpool appliance repair company. First repair appointment missed due to illness, next he came and did not really inspect the unit completely, and third appointment rescheduled nearly a week later due to a death in the family. No other repairpersons? I am certain it will be a car breakdown the next appointment. I have no patience for bad management because it is always an extension of bad ethics, which if you believe many of the negative reviews on this site Whirlpool and their various appliance companies appear to frequently miss the opportunity to engage within an honorable sphere. This is a new washer purchased only a few months ago. One technician mentioned it was due to overuse of soap/. The other technician was adamant that it was a sock stuck in a pump. Really? He did not open it up or even check the unit with any thoroughness. Error codes are enough. I was informed it would cost me and that this problem of the unit shutting the door and not completing the wash cycle was not covered by warranty. I informed him that I would call the manufacturer and insist on the unit being fixed. I did so and Whirlpool agreed to cover the repair. My schedule has been adjusted repeatedly to be present for these various service appointments only to have them cancel with a text. Bad business. I called Whirlpool repeatedly and was informed that socks must be put into a wash sack and no rugs with rubber backing. Again, my jaw dropped. What? I had an Amana washer and dryer for over 12 years and they worked great! So sorry I got rid of the Amana washer now. The Whirlpool is a piece of junk... Poor design and the fact that they are okay with such bad service has me calling around to other companies for a new washer and dryer set that will be on par with my Amana set. Whirlpool is clearly keeping these appliance companies in a brisk business with such abysmal technology. I am on the phone with another Whirlpool rep, Tracy, who is very attentive and helpful. The music playing while waiting, sometimes for 30 minutes, is similar to a film score, which helps calm the anger of time being wasted.

Do not under any circumstance end up with the Whirlpool fabric washer and or dryer in your dwelling to wash and dry your clothes. The washer, model # WTW7000DW0 and dryer, model # WED7000DW0. I am so upset with these units and the company I bought a 5 year extended warranty thru. I cannot put down in words what I think, because this review would not be published. Do not even accept these units, even if they are free. Even the repairmen who have been here said they would not buy these Whirlpool junk washer and or dryer series. They acknowledged the problem and said nothing could be done even though there is a legitimate problem. Not only is there a problem with the washer, the dryer as well has serious issues. All washes have to be put on the deep water cycle and some loads have totally dry spots on clothes where the clothes did not even get wet after the washer went thru the complete cycle. Also, get this, this washing machine even has to be cleaned itself with a cleaning tablet run thru a cleaning cycle. What happens are the clothes get a nasty, slimy, white muck on them. Even, immediately after the washer gets cleaned, sometimes the clothes 32nd up with this muck on them again. If you do not see this muck on your clothes before putting in the junk dryer, then the clothes have to be washed and dried again. This washer is supposed to be efficient, not a chance. It gets costly having to purchase the cleaning tablets and the washer(28th only two people in the household) has to be cleaned a lot more than what the manufacturer says and I called and asked. Pure junk, do yourself and even your enemies a favor, stay away at any cost, and like I said, even if they are free.

Purchased this French door fridge with the freezer on the bottom in September 2017. Started having problems shortly after with the freezer not auto defrosting/ice damming on the evaporator unit in the freezer unit, which caused the fridge to warm up and food to spoil. Service came out several times and ultimately replaced the Jazz board 3 times, 2 harnesses in freezer, 1 Heater and the evaporator fan motor, with the same problem happening after a few weeks. Requested a replacement after the 3rd visit, but Whirlpool refused to back up their product. Sent service a few more times to no avail. Demanded a replacement once again. They sent a new service company out 15 months after our original purchase and they FINALLY deemed it non-repairable and are FINALLY going to replace it (turned out to be a broken wire inside the walls of the fridge, likely was like that upon delivery). So now we will have been put out for a total of 16 months for a fridge that cost >$1000. If Im spending that on an appliance I expect it to work properly or else be fixed/replaced in a TIMELY fashion. And the best part: they refuse to compensate us for any of the food that was lost due to a faulty product and very poor customer service! That was a lot of money lost because of their incompetence. If they had just replaced the broken appliance in the first place I would have been satisfied. But since they refused to do anything beneficial to remedy the situation, I will NEVER buy another Whirlpool appliance again. And add in the inconvenience of scheduling a time to be home for multiple visits to greet the repairman. Oh yeah, plus our time wasted defrosting our frost-free fridge with a blow dryer to buy us time until it got repaired. Buyer beware!
