LG Dryer Troubleshooting
If you're looking for help fixing your LG Dryer, look no further! Our comprehensive LG Dryer Troubleshooting guide will explain common issues, provide tips, and show you how to read your model's error codes.
Step 1
Inspect the dryer vent to ensure it is clear of lint and debris. When lint accumulates in the dryer vent and restricts airflow, the dryer is unable to circulate air.
Step 2
Check the LG dryer power breaker at the lighting panel, when your unit will not start. Generally, an electrical disruption such as a faulty fuse or breaker is the culprit. Inspect the power plug at the outlet to ensure it is plugged in completely.
Step 3
Inspect the inside face of the door, and remove any lint buildup around the door's seal that may prevent it from closing completely. If the door switch does not make contact when the dryer door is shut, the safety interlock will prevent the dryer from starting.
Step 4
Adjust the dryer's feet, and make it level, if it's making noise, or shaking while operating. Dryer feet are located at each corner of the machine. Screwing the feet clockwise will lower that corner of the dryer. Screwing the feet counterclockwise will raise the respective corner.

LG Dryer difficulty
I have a 31 cu ft. French Door LG refrigerator that I spent a lot of money on over 4 years ago and the compressor suddenly went out. Luckily I have a warranty for 10 years for major components, but lo and behold it does not cover labor. The 45 minutes of labor was $600. I am shocked for several reasons: I cant believe an expensive appliance less than 5 years old would have a compressor which needs replacement, its unbelievable to have to pay $600 in labor for 45 minutes of work although I have a warranty. I also own an LG Steam Washer/Front Loader and matching dryer. The washer also needed repairs (which I had to pay parts and labor for) after a couple of years of ownership. These are definitely the LAST LG appliances, electronics, etc I purchase. In the future, I hope to find a company who cares about their customers and stands by their products.
I own the LG WT5101HW top load washer. I purchased 3yrs ago from Best Buy. We have a family of 5 so I hoped the extra large capacity would be a great option. Unfortunately we have benefited from this option due to it throwing it off balance and giving an UE code. We received a recall letter and had the LG repair guy change the part (I believe the circuit board) in September 2013. Its no ones fault but mine that Ive waited 9mo to complain about the fact that the problems have been worse since the repair was done, but in my defense it didnt happen right away. The knob for the settings however did not get put back correctly and does not spin freely like it used to, but I tried to overlook that since it would cost me a day of work to have the repair guy come back out to fix it. The unbalance code would occur only about 2 or 3 times a month in the past and we just thought it was overloaded or honestly unbalanced, but when we checked it the clothes were not shifted in a way that shouldve caused it to be out of balance in my opinion. In the last 2 months however the code goes off more often, to the point where its every other load it seems even on a small load. The drum is very violent and causes the machine to shake around a lot. And when you move the clothes around and push the start button again even if it says only 1minute is left, it will run for an hour if you dont stop it. We have had to just turn it off and put in the dryer. Thankfully it has not ripped apart as Ive seen in videos, but at this rate it seems its any day now. When I called LG about the on going issue, they said that a repairman could come look at it, but it would be at my expense since its out of warranty. Doesnt matter that it is the same problem from the recall nor did it matter only 9mo have passed since the recall repair was done. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was given the same speech. I have been a huge LG fan for years after buying my first flat screen t.v. from them, but our family will never own another LG product after this and I will spread the word about LGs lack of concern involving a very expensive washing machine that last less than 3yrs. Id rather have my old Whirlpool washer with over sprayed paint to cover the rust at this point!
Purchased a WM2801HLA Direct Drive front load washer & matching gas dryer (new) in April of 2010. In the 7 years of ownership, the LG Washer has had 2 drain pump failures, 1 circuit control board failure, and a Spider Arm assembly failure (due to preventable corrosion). The 1st drain pump failed under extended 5-year warranty, as did the circuit control board. Everything else has failed on my dime and my time. The failed spider arm also took out the Balance Assembly Ring by tilting the tub, thus making contact with a fixed component and rubbing a hole in the liquid filled assembly ring - which drained the ring, rendering it noisy as a tank & useless. Our machine started making some warning sounds in the spring of 2017... Which I thought were the bearings. Being as the seal & bearings are a regular fail point, I ordered seals and bearings and pulled the machine apart. Turns out it was the Spider Arm assembly which had corroded to the point that only 1 of the 3 arms was still intact holding the drum to the support assembly. The bearing seal and bearings were still fine (although replacing the seal when you are in there is a MINIMUM to prevent future bearing failure).Just for good measure, the 2nd circuit board is now also behaving in a similar manner as the 1st one did on its way out (you cannot power up the machine without unplugging it - wait 30 seconds - and plugging it back in). This circuit board problem comes and goes, but it is not uncommon for the LG brand (do a YouTube search for LG washers failing to power up). The Spider Arm failure was due solely to using an unpainted aluminum part (spider arm), bolting it to a dissimilar metal (stainless steel drum) and exposing it to both electrolyte (soapy water, baking soda) and acids (vinegar, bleach, cleansing tablets, etc). Shiny piece of crap is how I would describe this LG washing machine. In the 15 years since Front Loaders became fashion statements, I am not aware of a single Front Load manufacturer that has corrected this spider arm fail point (its a guaranteed certainty it will fail with any sort of regular use) by either painting it in enamel, making it out of stainless steel, or abandoning the stainless steel tub for an enamel coated one. Its clear to me that this is a purpose-driven engineered failure of the washing machine. I was able to fix the machine myself (and new bearings/seals for good measure... As youre already in there) but most people cannot. Even so, it was $400 with bearings, seals, balance ring, spider arm, and enamel paint for the new spider arm to prevent corrosion thereof. When the spider arm fails, it is generally the death knell for the machine. To hire someone to fix is usually in the neighborhood of $800 (and several days to get parts/fix). Thats right around the price point of a new washer... And therein lies the motivation to junk a 6 to 8-year-old washer. Compare that to my 1996 Maytag Dependable care top load washer and gas dryer. 13 years of ZERO problems, and probably still going strong at my former house (left as part of the house sale). These front loaders could last just as long by making the terminal failures less frequent. I.E. Eliminate the Spider arm corrosion. Use higher grade bearings. Use a higher grade bearing seal. I will accept the circuit board failure, as its easy to replace. Although, there should be no need for that either if the circuits are rated for automotive use (high vibration).Ditto the drain pump failure (its downright delicate looking) but its $50 and I can change it rather quickly. Unfortunately, given that all the manufacturers are using price as the lowest common denominator, its unlikely that any single manufacturer will step up their game. If manufacturers build a better machine, theyll have to raise the price as turnover falls.A couple of takeaways Ive learned: Dont stack your washer/dryer - It makes them a nightmare to service (and these new machines demand servicing). Front load washers are crap. I believe you can eliminate the spider arm by going back to a top loader. Become handy - You need to be able to diagnose, disassemble, & repair these crappy products yourself to extend the life thereof.
I almost bought an LG refrigerator a week ago UNTIL I read the reviews. I had the same poor experience with the LG washer and dryer. Problems within a month, customer service is poor and whatever the problem they say it must be the leveling and nothing is really covered under warranty that may be needed. Then they have the nerve to try to sell an extended warranty combined at over $400; after paying $2600 for a washer and dryer I shouldnt need an extended warranty for the first 3 years of ownership. The products dont compare to Kenmore Elite or Whirlpool and the customer service is AWFUL. In this case, you dont get what you pay for.
LG DLEC855R dryer - front loading - freestanding - 24 - wild cherry red stopped working all of sudden. Called LG service department to schedule an appointment for repair. They said $125 to come in to give estimate. The technician showed up, did nothing and gave an estimate of $1528 plus tax. He wrote down on paper and excuse me if I am spelling wrong. Tub assembly beaming $856.00. PCB/Main - $422.00. Labor - $250.00. Total cost with tax is $1628.00. I should have trusted the reviews and purchased new dryer rather setting up the appointment to lose $125.00. Luckily I realized after seeing the reviews and didnt go for service. I am purchasing new dryer with cost of $750.00 which includes tax, delivery and installation. The bottom line is dont buy LG products and no local service company will fix it either. You have to call LG and they rob you.
Do not waste your time trying to get LG to help you. They have a lint filter that will not fit unless they redesigned your dryer. They will delay, they will put you through hell and still get you nowhere even if they sent you a filter for the dryer it still will not fit. They know its a problem. They are not really helping people because it would cost them way too much to redesign each dryer thats out there and there is no class action suit then Im aware of currently. If this website ConsumerAffairs.com is willing to step in and really help people they should see who sent this and passed my contact information which you have my permission to do so to those class action attorneys that will get something done about this. I have spent too much time getting nowhere with LG support. They dont even have the decency to follow up and actually help in a real way. Again anyone who has any connection with LG that thinks theyre going to make headway on this they could not afford the amount of expense to either recall or redesign those dryers that are out there that are ruining clothes everyday.
Bought LG DLE3170 dryer about 3 years ago. In 6 months I started to get troubles with lint screen. During the spinning the screen would start to rise up above the edge on 3-5 mm, just enough to catch the piece of cloth. Then it would swirl it to a tightrope, which would bring along other pieces of clothes and all of them tight up in one huge spiral. At the beginning it have happened extremely rare, but last few months it happens pretty frequently. I tried to level up the dryer to perfection, but it didnt help. Seems that the screen is simply too big and doesnt stay in place for longer than 1 minute even when the dryer off.
I purchased the LG HE top loader (machine # WT 4801CW) in December 2011. It has never effectively cleaned a single load of clothes. Shirts come out of the wash still smelling of perfume/cologne; sheets come out with large dry spots where they never got wet. Washing in cold or hot water does not matter, nor does setting the washer on the highest level for soil and the extra high level of spin speed. I do not use a clothes dryer, so I use fabric softener but the clothes are so wrinkled even if I remove them the instant the cycle stops that every single item would need to be ironed. Even when washing very small loads (one pair jeans, 2 shirts, 2 pairs socks) there are dry spots on the clothes until the final rinse cycle, so they are obviously not getting clean. This machine will not remove any stain at all, no matter how minor. It also takes over 60 minutes to wash one load and has increased the number of loads I do a week despite having a much larger capacity than my previous washer. Luckily, when we bought it at Best Buy, they provided a 30-day return policy. My new washer will arrive this weekend. Im back to a front load Frigidaire, which is what I had before. I never had a single complaint about that machine. It lasted 18 years and never had a single service call, cleaned every single thing we ever put in it, and was very inexpensive to operate as well as having a much more reasonable price than anything else we saw on the market.
More inconvenient than our old simple Whirlpool dryer.1. No light in dryer... Never thought to ask salesperson because never expected a feature downgrade from our previous basic dryer.2. No warning via any simple brochures or sales people that small loads result in a wet log which requires a second manual time setting extension of drying time and the separation of the individual items from the compressed log one a a time for the rerun. Sometimes the result of the rerun is loose dry items (ideal), or a dry compressed log still needing separation. This is a waste of owners time and effort. There was no such hassle with our old dryer. Had I been forewarned (before purchase), there would have been no purchase!
Washing machine top load 5cub - Never seen such a terrible machine, better off dumping this and pulling the old one out of the dump, my clothes are not clean, it doesn’t get any dog hair or lint out of the clothes and have to wash 1-3 things at a time to get my nice clothes a little presentable. Remember this is the large capacity washing 3 things to become partially, not, clean!
I purchased my LG DLGX3551 in April 2012. The gas dryer now stops and starts on its own, and freezes when it stops, meaning I need to shut down dryer and start again and it may or may not work. I called LG and they tried to sell me a ~$380 service plan that would cover parts and labor for 1 year. But in the fine print, if the repair person determines it will not be cost effective to repair, they will charge me $100 for the diagnostic work on the dryer and refund the difference. When I asked what would be deemed too expensive to repair I got a whole host of answers from reps basically from, if the dryer parts are not available because the model is too old... but since mine is 4.5 yrs old shouldnt be a problem, to we didnt know how much our parts or services cost, we rely on the repair person to tell us. And no we dont know what parts they carry with them or how much the repair person will charge per hour, and if Im charged another service fee if the repair person doesnt gave the part on hand. Bottom line after I spoke to the supervisor, if the cost exceeds the price I pay, its deemed too expensive. But if it was a $25 part and one trip, theyd make $180 off the deal. So its insurance except they do not want to accept risk. So buyers be aware that their service support is a joke and either yes a local technician you trust or watch some YouTube videos, figure out the problem, order the part and install yourself. Otherwise its better to buy a new dryer by a different manufacturer that is reliable and if they offer a real warranty, read thoroughly to ensure you do not encounter fine print which could make buying a warranty idiotic. Each person on the phone I spoke with at LG was almost not understandable due to language accent, and repeated words from a script. Then the supervisor told me I was lucky they were there for me and spending their time on the phone with me when they dont have to since the unit is out of warranty. No joke thats what I was told. I called local techs and they said they refuse to work with LG warrantied problems too... now I know why. Doing my homework and buying a reputable brand dryer and LG is on the permanent never buy list. What is most disturbing is many people would not have realized their scam of a service warranty they offer is a scam - its unethical and they should be called out on it so no consumers fall for their deceptive practices. Maybe a lawyer can do a class action lawsuit. Im sure there are many unlike me that trusted LG repair warranty would not be rescinded if it exceeded the price of the warranty. My order number below is with a retailer, not LG. Im leaving for verification purposes but this issue is with LG, not the retailer listed on the invoice Ive submitted to this website.
This washer and dryer were rated about as well as any, so it was kind of a tossup what to get. You are supposed to use TUB CLEAN cycle monthly or more often (This on a front loader that is supposed to SAVE water) and after every time you use the machine you are supposed to wipe around the 2 gaskets that stay wet. If you dont, and even if you do this creates odors, sometimes even if youre careful to wipe all around. Wiping the gaskets down requires getting on the floor and going into the tight crevices with a rag all around. Also, you are supposed to frequently empty the drain at bottom and clean out the filter. This also requires sitting/crouching on floor and the first few times I had water all over the floor and under washer. Very impractical. So far it hasnt had repairs (2 years old) but is noisier over time and thumps around a lot on spin cycle. Poor design all around.
Im at work while Im writing this so I dont have the exact model number of the machines. But we Installed the machines correctly and leveled them and we had problems with the dryer within 3 months of loud humming noise. They came out and said that there was nothing they could do, that it was normal and we called them just before the warranty ran out, and once again right after and never got it fixed. Serviceman was no help. The washer always vibrated horribly on the spin cycle. Now a few years later its broken its mounts and is burning the front gasket. The set was complete garbage from day one. I will never buy another LG product. Not a phone, mp3, battery, nothing.
Almost one year ago I bought an LG wave force washer and matching LG clothes dryer from Lowes. I have had no problems with the dryer, but the washing machine has been a great disappointment. I have operated the machine according to the information given in the owners manual, and yet I have two serious complaints. One, the machine stinks like rotten eggs. Two, the machine leaves a dirty residue (which looks like crushed rotten leaves) on my laundered clothes. It has ruined some of my clothes so I am having to wash by hand.
We purchased the LG front loader washer & dryer for our daughter & son-in-law as a gift in 2012. It is only 3 years old & the washer start button does not work! They have been without a washer for weeks. This is ridiculous to have this happen with such a new expensive washer! Now the repairman said the part is on back order!!! OMG! LG should send them a new washing machine!! Needless to say, with a household of 3, there is a lot of laundry. On back order, how long will it take to get the part in?
We purchased an LG washer in July of 2014. I have not liked it from the start - tub is too deep, fills with very little water to wash clothes, feel clothes are not clean. The washer broke on July 30 and repairman from Sears, where we purchased washer and dryer, came the next day. He advised us that valve was broken so water was running in constantly. He told us he would have to order it from South Korea (what?). Not acceptable but he could not order it in U.S. I called Sears Parts and was told they had the part and would send to us. The part arrived on August 3, and the next day two more valves arrived from Texas. I called tech dept but was told our tech had set August 10 for repair and they could not change that!! How screwed up is this? Never purchase LG again nor will I purchase appliances from Sears. Totally disgusted. Tqq.
I heard that LG was the new Electrolux in dryers, the best and most expensive. Most expensive-yes. Best- NO. My clothes are never dry on high for one hour. My clothes come out ripped! I know its hard to believe, its even hard for me to believe, and I am looking at them. I went back to Best Buy. And they are giving me a refund.
I purchased an LG washer and dryer WM2140CW about two years ago. The washer did not work correctly from day #1 of installation. The door would only seal if I pressed very, very firmly to enable the lock to engage. However, this issue was such that I was the only person strong enough to make it happen and even then, I would have to close several times over before I could get it to latch. After about four or five visits, changing boards, door locks, and finally a new door, it was fixed. Within the past few weeks, the washer now has suddenly stopped powering on when the button is pressed. Since these devices come with a whopping one year warranty, its now out of that coverage. If I unplug and plug back in, a spark will appear, every time, and it may or may not work for a load of laundry. I contacted LG and they had me do a hard reset, power off, hold the power button, plug back in. After establishing the hard reset was probably not going to do anything, they gave me the names of the local businesses which were authorized to work on the machine. Now, I am looking at parts and labor in access of the original purchase price of the machine. If you buy an LG machine, after coming to this website and seeing a 90%+ unsatisfactory rating, then you get you what you deserve. I know I certainly regret not checking some review sites before my purchase.
The washer has been nothing but trouble from day 1. The tray gets mold and mildew buildup behind it and thats with leaving the tray open as well as the door. About every 5 or 6 loads, the OE message appears and no matter how many times its been cleaned, the same thing. Actually, as Im typing right now, I just heard the old faithful ding ding ding and looked over, only to find the OE blaring as usual. LG should recall these horrible machines. I also bought the dryer and lower drawers and have to run the dryer twice most times to get my clothes dry. The smell is horrible and my children have allergies. I think this machine may be making us sick.
We purchased a LG front load washer and dryer few years ago and at the present time we have replaced three pumps and numerous other hoses (Dryer is working fine). As of 1/21/14 the washer again has failed to pump out the water so now I assume I will be buying pump 4! The only good thing is that the serviceman is here so often I no longer have to pay for service calls! I will never buy another LG product and tend to tell everyone I know of the problems I am having with the washer. Hopefully they will get it right soon!
I seldom, if ever, write complaint letters. However, this washer has been the worst purchase I have ever made. I absolutely HATE this machine. I thought I was purchasing a high-end washer and its a piece of JUNK. There is never enough water even though I always select more water with each load. The clothes arent even fully emerged! Stains remain, the clothes appear dingy, and after the load is complete, all the clothes are twisted together in knots. I have to separately untangle each piece in the load before placing in the dryer. No agitator in the top loader, insufficient water, spin speed ties clothes in knots. You should see my king size sheets. Its been a nightmare since day one. AVOID this machine like the plague. Im getting a replacement ASAP.
This washer is only 5 years old. There is no reason it should be failing already. Even with small loads, it continues to go into the UE mode, and repeats cycles constantly. So the alleged energy savings is out the window. It will frequently take as long as 2 hours to get one load done. And thats if it finishes at all. LG televisions we have are pretty reliable. No complaints. But their washers and dryers are not worth the money spent.
I purchased an expensive LG washer and dryer new 16 months ago. The writing has worn off of the controls in the front and we cant tell what cycle we are on. Customer Service has been a nightmare. I strongly recommend staying away from this machine or company.
I really like my LG washing machine and dryer. It doesnt look as upgraded as some of Samsungs new dryers but it gets the job done. But I would have preferred more color choices without having to spend an additional couple hundred dollars. I love that there is not an agitator and it has an extra large capacity. I can easily fit my king size comforters in the basin. I love the turbo speed function that allows you to wash your clothes at a reduced time. You also save a lot of water because it only puts in enough water to cover the clothes. The machine does a survey for the weight and size of the load to determine the amount of water to use. I normally only need the smallest amount of detergent in most loads, so you save money there too. There are plenty of cycles types to select from and some you can customize. My dryer has an awesome steam feature! This really reduces wrinkles in dress clothing! I also love the sensing feature on the dryer. I rarely have to add more time or dry a second time. It also has a large capacity. The signal indicating both the washer and dryer could be louder. There is also an app with the units that you can get laundry tips. I would have preferred to be able to start and stop functions and/or time left on loads with the app. You can also use your cell phone to diagnose errors on the units. You hold the phone to the unit and it sends codes to help with troubleshooting. The washing machine could be more quiet. I can definitely hear the wash if Im in rooms next door. During some heavy rinse cycles I can hear and feel it shaking since the unit is on my second floor. All in all I really like the set.
I never write reviews but I just had to. I got LG top of the line, top loader washer and dryer set. I guess I didnt research it enough. I have been doing laundry for 30 years and there really is nothing I like about this set. First and foremost, neither the washer nor dryer let you choose your settings. They have categories and it is what it is. Unfortunately they are terrible and dont work, e.g., nothing between normal and delicate. Does not get stains out unless you use 2 1/2 hour cycle with soak. Cant understand that one. Dryer same problem with settings. More dry is really almost dry. I gave it a year and still is the worst purchase I have ever made.
We purchased an LG front load washer (LG WM2688HNM) and dryer in June 2007 from Best Buy. We had constant problems with the washer leaking. We had technicians out almost monthly to try and find the source of the leak without any success. After about five months of complaining to LG’s customer service, they did have Best Buy give us a replacement in June of 2008. Unfortunately, the new machine did the same thing, but not quite as often and more like every two or three months. Again, the technicians cannot find where the leak is occurring from. It does not seem to make any difference how much detergent or bleach one uses. About two years ago the machine started dancing across the floor and vibrating items off the shelves in the laundry room. The technician put pads under the washer that are supposed to keep it in place and reduce the vibrations, but to no avail. It just keeps moving from one side of the laundry room to the other side, so we have to put it back in place until the next load.Oh, by the way, the dryer does not work much better than the washer. It goes through the dry cycle (and it doesn’t seem to matter which one) and the clothes are still damp if not wet. It doesn’t seem to matter if one uses the wrinkle guard or not. One technician suggested that with LG, one needed to use normal if you were doing permanent press, clothes, etc., but they still don’t get fully dried. Based on our experience, I would have to say do not buy LG products. As it stands at this point, I don’t think I would take an LG product if they were to give it to me.
LG Electronics 5.2 cu. ft. Large Capacity Front Load Washer. We purchased this washer and dryer mid November and as of 2 and a half months later, the washer is leaking from the bottom and has damaged the trim and surrounding walls. Couldnt be more disappointed.
As with so many others the lint trap does not sit flush in the dryer. The corner protrudes and DESTROYS your clothes. DO NOT BUY AN LG DRYER UNTIL THEY OWN UP TO THIS ISSUE!!! Is there a class action?
I hate my LG washing machine... it smells and there is water that accumulates in the rubber gasket and black mold! I think the problem is the horizontal drum... The water does not drain properly. I never heard of buying a product to clean your wash machine... That pretty much saying there are issues! The dryer also sucks! It shuts off before clothes are dry... So if youre not home to restart.. They smell! The dryer also seems to take a long time to dry. Who would think that products would decline in quality... With all this technology we have today!!! I want my old fashion washer and dryer back!!!!
The display panel on the LG 3500 is NOT back-lit, therefore you cannot see what the lights indicate without a flashlight. The markings are a light gray, behind a dark panel, making it very difficult to see without getting a flashlight. LG customer service says too bad, thats the way it is designed. No offer to replace brand new dryer, and they didnt flinch when I said I would go to another brand.
I purchased an 4.5 cu. ft. Ultra Large Capacity Top Load Washer Featuring Powerful Stain Care Technology Model: WT4870CW in March 2014, in addition to the companion dryer. I purchased this product as reviews had been good, and the price was right. It has been the worst machine I have ever owned. In spite of trying various settings, and contacting the manufacturer, clothes just dont get clean, and even today, linens that I took out had more stains on them than when they went in. The clothes dont agitate, and even if you use a setting that adds more water, the clothes just dont move around. They come out in the same position as when you loaded the machine. Forget using a water-saving setting - the clothes are barely damp. The machine will go off balance if there is anything, even one item, that is of a different weight. It resets itself endlessly. I miss my old Maytag and cant wait for a reason to get rid of the LG Washer. The drier is also a problem, but I guess I can live with wrinkled clothes more than I can with dirty ones. Dont buy an LG.
Purchased a new LG Steam dryer-DLEX3370W and washer in June 2018. Within 2 months of purchasing the dryer would not come on. Interior light would come on but electronic panel lights would not, so it is a bad board. Called LG for warranty service. Never received another call from them ever. Service repairman came 3+ weeks later with a front panel plastic part, knowing the dryer would not turn on. He threw the part in the box and stated LG sent him the wrong part. I stated I knew he orders parts not LG. LG confirmed this also. Said he would order a board and be back another day. I filed a complaint with him due to him lying about the part along with him not even opening the dryer to diagnose the problem. I have called LG every few days for 3 months now regarding the status. I am told pending. They asked for receipt of the purchase, I uploaded it to my claim. Then 2 weeks later asked for it again, uploaded it. Never in 3 months has anyone from LG called me to let me know the status. They refuse to give anything in writing also. This dryer has a lawsuit against LG due to the stream drawer and a house fire. After 10 weeks we finally purchase a new dryer and expect they would reimburse us due to not being able to find another repair company to come out to our area. They asked me to upload the receipt, I did, along with our Governors state of emergency in our county due to flooding in Texas, I did that also as asked. Today, 11/8/18, I called and spoke with a Supervisor in Executive Services who was not customer friendly, stated the claim had been denied last month! No notification, nothing! I asked for the address to send a small claims notification letter. LG Legal Dept, PO Box 24007, Huntsville, AL 35813. We will be filing a suit not honoring the warranty of a 2 month old dryer. FYI, a lawsuit was filed for a house fire due to the steam drawer.
I purchased an LG washer and dryer in 2018. Within 6 months the dryer has no heat so I called for a repair. The electrical panel (brains of the dryer) and the thermostat had to be replaced. I called the store to express my disappointment and the saleswoman said, You must have bought a lemon! Clearly doesn’t stand behind the brands they sell! Less than 2 years later my dryer again has no heat! The repairman came today and the exact same parts need to be replaced again! I feel I have a defective machine and LG says they will most likely just repair it. I feel they should replace it. An appliance that only worked for less than 6 months is not what I thought I was buying. I thought I was buying quality! I will never buy an LG again! Including manufacturing, this will now be the third time the same part has been in put in this machine. Clearly defective! I had Whirlpool for over 10 years and never once needed to call for service. Extremely disappointed in LG.
We purchased the LG washing machine and dryer from Spencers. I am dissatisfied with our salesman in that he should have made us aware that this washer is a large capacity machine with no capability to wash smaller loads. They want you to buy another machine to sit underneath the main washer. The dryer is a mess. I spent $1,000 for a dryer that doesnt sense the dryness of sheets!!! It shuts off early leaving the corners of the sheets wet. I called the technician who said thats the way it is and I should use the manual dry time and estimate how long it needs to dry completely... Really... Really... thats the way dryers operated in 1958! Dont waste your money on this piece of junk.
About 4 years ago, my wife and I purchased a top load LG washer/dryer set from Lowes for~ $1400 after our MAYTAG washer died after 20 YEARS. They worked fine for about 2 years. After that time, the washer started to get the UE error more frequently, and started to growl and squeal. For weeks, I tried to get a service appointment from LG under warranty. None of the listed repair shops would touch this thing for less than $90 service call. In talking to the tech, evidently, this is a common issue with these products and costs around $450-$500 to repair. I considered fixing it myself, but the expense of the part(s) and special tools required made it not viable. As a mechanical engineer, there is no way this device should fail so quickly. We do maybe 6 loads of wash/week of normal clothes and towels. Bottom line, I will NEVER buy LG again!!! That includes phones and electronics. We just purchased and old school agitator machine from a domestic manufacturer. AND when in the market for a flat screen TV and phone, didnt even consider LG!
Our LG Dryer (DLG7188WM) drum was cracked and making a thumping sound. The dryer was purchased in 2007 and has been a workhorse. I googled LG Dryer Broken Drum and discovered that this is a known problem and that the dryer was under potential recall. I telephoned the initial authorized installer and was pleased to learn that the drum would be replaced at no charge and that labor would also be covered.RESULT- The drum is on order and will arrive at the service center at the end of the week and I should have it replaced by early next week. I have always received great service from D.G. Appliance Service and Repair in Chatsworth, CA. and support from LG. I do have all my original receipts, but in this case it seemed not to matter. Pleased.
I bought a LG electric dryer DLEX3250W Dec 21/14, and on Dec 30/16, the motor that turns the drum. If it hadnt been for the observant person placing the clothes in the dryer, it would have caused a fire. The element was working on high heat. The dryer cost was over $700 and had to be replaced or fixed. Not impressed with this short life span of an LG dryer.
As with so many other LG dryers my drum broke -- $500 to repair. Contacted LG and am waiting to see what happens.
LG Dryer Model DLEX3570W. I purchased this dryer less than 2 years ago. From the beginning it has made noises off and on and the drying times were not long enough to completely dry the clothes. Apparently the sensors dont really work, it is by time only and I have to go to manual dry to finish. My biggest complaint is the lint screen and compartment that it is housed in. The lint screen would stick up just a little on the right side and catch my clothes, some it has damaged. I finally found that the design of the compartment that the lint screen goes in has a design flaw. There are little cross sections that catch lint and build up which doesnt allow the screen to seat correctly. Once this happens the screen will be warped.I have to totally dismantle the compartment every 2-3 weeks to remove built up lint and force the lint screen down. I refuse to purchase a new lint screen because it will just happen again. However, all that being said, it is not just the damage to my clothes or the work of trying to keep the lint from building up around the design flaw. This is a fire hazard. I spoke with LG and they said they would send out a repair person but I would be responsible for the service. They have not redesigned the part so that is useless. I also have the LG matching washer, not crazy about that either. I will replace both of these and it will not be with an LG product. They dont stand behind their products and have zero customer service. If you have one of these dryers, beware!! They are a major fire hazard!!
I purchased this product less than 5 months ago and the water pump went out. Called LG customer service and they referred me to a company who refused to service any of their products. I called LG back and they gave me another phone number, called and set up a service call. They showed up with NO parts on them due to LGs policies. They do not allow them to carry parts for their product with them. The company ordered the part and told me it would be 4 business days before I could get it fixed due to LG having to ship them the part. LG on the other hand said they 2 day overnight parts. That was a lie. The appliance repair came 6 business days later (due to waiting on part), installed the pump, and to no avail. The technician said it had to be the computer board that was bad. What?!? We tested the washer and lo and behold due to the bad computer board, it burned up pump #2. From this point obviously I had a lemon of an appliance. Thank God for our local Home Depot, whom I purchased it from, because dealing with LG is a nightmare! Home Depot let me return BOTH LG washer and dryer I purchased and I traded it for a brand new Samsung washer and dryer. I will never ever buy an LG product again.
I purchased our LG smart washer dryer combo from Home Depot 14 months ago. For the first year it worked like a charm. Once it was paid off, the nightmare began. I have called the horrible customer service in the Philippines only to hear a repeated script. I have had my home warranty company come out twice. The only way for me to wash our clothes is to confuse our washer into thinking that the load is large. I put in 2 buckets of water on top of towels. I have ruined so many of my clothes in the twisted rope like fashion that I could cry. It takes me 1.5 hours to wash 2 pairs of jeans and a few shirts. The dryer is also Lousy Garbage. It over dries and shrinks our clothes, those that make it out alive from the washer never dry at all and are very wrinkled. And then there is the smell... The technicians say this is how they are suppose to work. There is no energy saving in taking all day to do a household of threes laundry. There is nothing smart about these machines... Be smart stay away...
2 year old LG dryer, electrical problems inside the unit. It is sickening to read about so many problems with LG and service. I don’t plan to pay for more than this first repair. It will be on the curb. Get me Hecho En Mexico products, not China.
I purchased a new LG washer and dryer in April 2018. From the beginning the dryer leaked water from the door. When I called they told me not to use dryer sheets. I wasnt, Lint collects on the gasket on the door and continues to leak. Ive been calling them for 6 months. A guy came out and did nothing. He said they would order me a new door and front. In the end they never returned a phone call. My dryer still leaks water and Im looking for the Better Business Bureau information. I will never buy another LG product again.
Dryer LG DLEX3250W ruins my clothes. The lint filter on this model is defective. We even purchased replacement parts and within a month the same thing happened again. I have to use duct tape to hold the lint filter in place. I have ruined 100s of dollars worth of clothing. The clothes get caught on the end of the lint filter and twist until ripping. Items with straps, sheets, sleeves are the most common to get caught and ripped. I am very disgusted that this has not been recalled and a fix has not been made. I spent a lot of money on this dryer and very dissatisfied!
After my husband returned home from Iraq, we thought we deserved an upgrade of our 15 year old hand-me-down washer and dryer. We purchased the LG front loading washer (model # WM2487HRM). It began smelling horribly, not long after. We have had to leave the door and the dispenser drawer open, put dryer sheets in to help with smell in between washes, regularly try to wipe out the disgusting rubber seal, after every wash, because of the remaining water, and still it stinks. The printing on the machines is rubbing off, and the seams on the exterior of the dryer seem to be disintegrating. Every time I wipe it clean, the color of the machine (red) wipes off! We also have terrible vibrations with it. On January 18, 2012, we had a service technician come to check why it sounded like it was so far off balance, that it was going to crack the interior. Of course, the extended warranty provider, Federal Warranty Service Corporation, sent out the repair company of their choosing. He checked that the machine was indeed level (we already tried that), still it shook so bad that he had to remove the top of the washer, and proceeded to tell me wow! You should see how bad it is! That thing was going crazy inside there! He said the bearing was bad, and warned that with continued use, it might seize up. He also said that he wouldnt even attempt to replace it, because of the man hours it would require, and they only pay him a flat fee of $95 to repair it. It just wasnt worth his time. He said he would contact the service contract provider with the recommendation, to replace the machine altogether, and even recommended that we get a top loader next time! We still havent gotten any resolution, and our washer is worse than ever! LG, Home Depot, and Federal Warranty Service Corporation should all be ashamed of themselves for producing, selling, and attempting to maintain service contracts on this washing machine! It is the last time I will I purchase from any of them! Class action suit? Count me in!
We bought a LG refrigerator 1.5 years ago. Very pricey I might add. The Fridge went out. They sent a repair person who replaced the motherboard and thats all he did. He did not check to see if the compressor was working. We wait 12 to 24 hours as he said not working. The compressor is not working. Back to LG We go. They say compressor is covered. They will get back to us on someone coming. They just call today and say they cant find anyone to come and fix it. Now the kicker is We have had no refrigerator since December 10th 2021. After all the hoops LG cant find anyone to fix their product. We live outside Little Rock AR. I have found this whole situation horrible with the way this was handled. I will never recommend a LG product to anyone. Yes there may be fine stuff out there but what if it breaks then you will find out how they stand behind their products. I find it ridiculous the price we pay for refrigerator, washers, dryers etc just for them to be throw away products.
I had a great older dryer... No problems ever and I bought it used! Decided to upgrade to a LG efficiency dryer not expecting it to stop working after a year and a half... But of course after the warranty expired, it stops working 4 months later... After I have somebody come figure out the problem, it will probably cost 200.00... So disappointed in LG products... I feel nothing is ever made right anymore... Made cheaply so youre forced to spend more money on repairs and services...
We have had a LG DLEX3001W Ultra Capacity Dryer and a WM3001HWA Ultra Washer for the past 4 years. Unlike the Wash Machine which is another story the Dryer has been a pretty decent appliance overall. We have although have had one consistent annoying issue that we have been experiencing and it is clothes being wet or very damp after a drying cycle. We did the normal cleaning of the lint filter and what we could visibly clean out of the lint filter cavity. Eventually this method of cleaning was no longer fixing the problem. I will note that we have a very short vent run to the outside which is always checked and is clean. So what we did was remove the lint screen and then took our vacuum cleaner with a small crevice attachment and cleaned out the lower lint cavity. We then reversed our vacuum hose to the blow side and placed the attachment into the lint cavity and wrapped it with a towel to prevent air leakage and then proceeded to blow air into the lint cavity. To our surprise there was quite a bit of lint that was forced through to the outside vent that we could not see in the lint cavity. From what we can figure it appears lint can become stuck along the exit path in the dryer and needs to be forced out. Once we cleaned out the lint cavity to the outside drying returned to normal. Hope this helps and prevents an unnecessary repair call and charges. It would be nice if Lg would add some information on this issue through their website to assist consumers.
