Whirlpool gold series refrigerator leaks water from freezer after 14 months because ice builds up causing the door not to shut properly and rime ice forms over food. I called Whirlpool and theyve not heard this problem before and stated I should have gotten the extended warranty. This is ridiculous. The internet is flooded with people having the same problem.
we bought a hotwater heater and it gets scalding hot set on the low setting, we had the gas valve replaced by a@e paid for by whirlpool. It still gets above 125 degrees, set on vacation with me using it all during the day.I have contacted them several times, they told me to let the hotwater run about 10 minutes everyday, or just turn the heater off and let it cool off. I bought a water heater to use not light the pilot everytime I need hot water.
We had refrigerator 2 years and compressor went out. Whirlpool would not repair. I will not buy Whirlpool again.
I contacted Whirlpool on 3 separate occasions. Each time they told me to have the plumber call them so that they could determine what the problem was. Each time he was able to get the water heater going again, but it would only operate for about 3 months and then it would go out again. To date, I have incurred $245.00 in plumbers service fees. My last call to Whirlpool was on 5/14/2013. This water heater was purchased on 1/25/2010 at Lowes in Evans, GA. It went out over the weekend, but the plumber was able to relight it. When I called Whirlpool on the 14th of May, I was told since it was working now, there was nothing they could do. I am tired of dealing with this issue. They wont stand behind their product.
The washing machine continued to display an F1 error code. I contacted the manufacturer and was told that they will not do anything about the problem due to it being out of warranty. This is the first time I have complained about a product or service and want to try and assist anyone who may be thinking of purchasing a washer from Whirlpool. I do not recommend purchase of these units.
Bought brand new, Whirlpool front load washer and dryer, from Corbeil. Got both items home and connected and levelled (yes I took out the shipping bolts). Did my first washing and watched my new washer dance across the floor. Called Corbeil and they told me no refunds. Best they could do was to send out a Tech to check it. Tech came, changed the shock absorbers, a token act because the machine danced as much as it did before. Please for your own well being DO NOT buy this product and DO NOT buy from Corbeil. There are other products on the market that advertise items that dont shake.
I purchased Duet washer 3 years ago, but it wasnt installed until a little over a year and a half ago. Machine started making loud noise during spin cycle, and eventually would not spin the water out of the machine. I contacted Whirlpool and was told there was a defect in that particular WP model and if it was confirmed by a provided tech, WP would provide the parts for the repair. The tech confirmed the problem, and I was told the repair would still cost over $450, even with the free parts. When I approached WP and asked them to fix the machine since it was a known defect, it was denied that there was a defect.
I bought a brand new KitchenAid stainless steel refrigerator for close to $3,000.00. It has a big crack in the back casing which Im sure is affecting the seal. It is still under manufacturers warranty. Whirlpool sent out a technician to put a yellowish plastic epoxy to seal the crack. When I told him that this was unacceptable as it dries yellowish and has a dull finish he explained that that was all Whirlpool was willing to do.I have been dealing with Whirlpool for 4 weeks now and they refuse to repair the crack and they deny any manufacturing defect. I have sent them pictures of the crack and they still refuse to resolve this issue. Very bad, horrible experience with customer service, long waits on the phone, rude and ineffective employees. This CLEARLY is a company that will not stand by their product and I recommend everyone to CLEARLY stay away from purchasing any Whirlpool products. They will be paying a lot of money for very poorly manufactured products. Please, please, do not purchase Whirlpool products! You will be happier spending money on a company that values you as a customer before and after the sale. Obviously Whirlpool would rather forget you after they have sold you their product and have their money. Thank you for reading this. I hope I have saved potential appliance customers from making the same mistake I made. DO NOT BUY WHIRLPOOL!
Purchased a Whirlpool water heater (model ND50T122-403) through Lowe’s in Dec 2013. Later discovered online it fraught with breakdown issues. 11 months later ours broke down. Whirlpool Customer Service first told us We dont have any authorized plumbers in your area. Went to Lowe’s the next day - they called on their hotline and we got a call back from Whirlpool that afternoon. Told us part would ship out immediately (arrived next day - no complaints there) and gave us an authorization for 2 plumbers. Both are over 35 miles away and one is out of state. Called once the part arrived... First one said hed try to get to us in the next 4-7 days; second one said We get to warranty work as fill-in work. Well put you on a list and call if were going to be in your area. While we did a bit of web research before buying this water heater, we really should have taken the model number, gone home and googled it before buying. Wish wed gone with a unit from a real plumbing supply place. They were a lot more expensive but you get what you pay for.
I purchased a Whirlpool Duet washer from a local appliance store in May 2009. I also purchased a 60-month extended warranty covering the washer until May 2015. I was shocked when I tried to use the washer today (May 16, 2012) and it would not turn on. I called the repair facility the appliance store supplied as the warranty repair facility, only to be shocked again. I was told the appliance store suddenly went out of business and my ($130) extended warranty was no longer in effect and I would have to pay for repair out of my pocket. I then called Whirlpool knowing they would stand behind their faulty $740, 3-year old washer. They told me there was nothing they could do because the one year warranty they offered was over. I had a repair person look at the washer and he told me a control board had to be replaced and the repair would cost at least $550. I told him I was just going to buy a new washer. I had not been happy with the washer from day one and was very sorry I had purchased it. It did not wash the clothes very well. Also, I had a musty/moldy smell in my basement that would not go away no matter how much I cleaned. The repairman told me today that the smell is coming from the washer. I just cant believe I am out almost $1,000 and there is nothing I can do about it. After reading the many reviews on this website about Whirlpool appliances, I am sure they will not be in business much longer. They should be ashamed of themselves for what they are doing to consumers like myself especially in todays economy. Is there anything that can be done about this?
Water began accumulating on the floor, dripping out of the freezer 16 months from installation. Upon investigating I found the bottom of the freezer had a solid sheet of ice on it. Water was dripping out from the back of the freezer and collecting until it froze. I followed a YouTube video that explained the problem, the freezer drain clogs. The video continued with a how-to dismantle the freezer to defrost the drain and drain the water. Apparently the drain is too small and the fix is a new grommet which costs approximately $27.00. I followed the YouTube video and TEMPORARILY fixed the trouble myself. This is a Whirlpool defect, aka, poor design. What is Whirlpool offering to customers to permanently solve this problem at no cost?
I purchased a Whirlpool water heater with the Flame Lock Safety System on 6/4/12. When installing the water heater, the cold water pipe would not screw into the top of the water heater. I exchanged this water heater for a new water heater of the same make and model. I brought this water heater home and had it installed and noticed that the flame on the burner was orange and too high. I called the 877-817-6750 number for warranty and was told by the customer service rep that it was either the gas regulator or the orifice inside the water heater. I was told to contact a plumber to take care of this issue and it was not a warranty claim and not their problem. I then went to the Lowes store where I purchased the unit and spoke to a manager. The manager called the same number I called and was told the same thing, that I was responsible for the repairs to the unit. How can this not be covered? Both pieces are internal to the unit and were never touched during installation. I now have to remove and return this unit and install a new water heater that will not be a Whirlpool at my own expense. Do not buy Whirlpool.
We purchased our 4 French door refrigerator on 1/22/15. It started making a loud noise, like an air compressor. It continue to get louder and louder over a period of a couple of days. Called the dealer where it was purchased and a repairman was not available for another week. When the repairman showed up and diagnosed the problem which was a leak in the freezer causing ice and the fan to hit the ice, they were not equipped to fix that type of problem. We were advised to call Whirlpool consumer dept. which we did, and was advised they would send out another repairman and would be another week. Have had to move food and freezer items out of refrigerator. Two and one half weeks and no solution. Five month old refrigerator that is not usable. Very disappointed in product and service.
Our experience with the Whirlpool Duet Steam washer is the same. Weve had ours about 2 years and have replaced a sensor and the rubber boot (both in the first year) and now we too have had the bearings go out. Weve called Nebraska Furniture Mart and Whirlpool. No one really cares. Its unbelievable that $1800 is down the drain and its acceptable! What are the steps for a class action lawsuit? How about getting some social media involved to get Whirlpools attention? It worked with Netflix and Bank of America. They had to finally listen to the public. So frustrated!
Never have to worry about my extra freezer products. Keeps them at the correct temperature. Plenty of room on the shelves and on the door. A great asset for large families.
I purchased this washer (Whirlpool Cabrio HE) 2 years ago against the advise of many people including my husband due to the cost, $850 for what is now no more than a large paper weight! It had never really done a good job at cleaning our clothes. About 6 months ago, it started not spinning enough to remove all the water from the load. I thought, no big deal, I will just use the extra spin cycle. It became the normal thing - wash, spin, extra spin. Well, then it became wash, spin, extra spin, extra spin. I noticed 3 months ago that it was not even agitating. It fills up, sounds like it is agitating and then drains. There was no movement from inside at all. All along I am getting from my husband. told you not to buy it! I gave in and called the repairman - $185 for a console, $26 for a sensor and $55 for a couple of drum clips and then the $35/hour for the repairs. I would rather spend a couple hundred dollars and buy a washer with an agitator that really works. I would never recommend this washer to anyone!
We have purchased 2 Whirlpool dishwashers in 4 years. The first one lasted almost three years and the second just past the warranty. The second one was a $500 dishwasher that we bought new. We filed a claim with Whirlpool and then had to set aside a whole day for the repair person to come. They spent about 10 minutes at our house, charged us $75 and didnt even attempt to look at the dishwasher or fix it. We have sunk almost $1000 into Whirlpool dishwashers since we bought our home 4 years ago. If you want to waste time and money go ahead and buy Whirlpool, otherwise learn from our mistake.
Our 4-year old Whirlpool microwave suddenly stopped heating. We thought that we forgot to push something so we tried again to start it. This time, it started to spark. We bought a new microwave oven and foolishly bought another over the range Whirlpool microwave. This was about 1 1/2 years ago. The second Whirlpool microwave oven stopped heating as well. F7 came up on the controls which meant that the magnetron failed in this second microwave as well. We called Whirlpool and they said they would only repair it if we paid for the repair which would have cost almost as much as a new microwave and maybe more if other parts were involved. Next, last year, 2012, the pump on our Whirlpool dishwasher broke and once again, it was too expensive to repair it. We had to buy another dishwasher so we bought a Maytag, not knowing that they were made by Whirlpool. I guess we will have to wait until that guarantee is up before that also breaks. Also, last year, our Whirlpool washer pump broke and that cost us a few hundred dollars to repair. From the complaints that I am reading from people about their Whirlpool appliances, it is seems that their products are made to last just until the warranties expire. We should start a class action against Whirlpool. On many sites, I have read numerous complaints about Whirlpool products, the majority about the magnetrons in their microwave ovens breaking during and shortly after guarantees run out. They should not be allowed to get away with this. BBB, Consumer Affairs, where are you? To the many of you who have been burned by Whirlpool, I hope you have contacted the BBB and Consumer Affairs and maybe even the Attorney Generals office in your home state.
The washer began to start making noises as if coins were in it or plastic breaking every time I wash. Also, it does not wring clothes out good and clean well. I have Whirlpool Cabrio.
Whirlpool Gold Refrigerator, #GI6FDRXXY07 ICE MAKER PROBLEM - Ever since we bought this ref in 2012, we have been facing problems one after the other. First the refrigerator was shutting off on itself thawing the food the ref & freezer. (When we were on vacation, in summer of 2012 , it was a disaster when we returned home.) This a continuous on going problem... not fixed. Second 2012 Spring the Icemaker shuts off spilling water at the dispenser, when called customer service they sent a technician who replaced the ice maker. But again the icemaker is spilling water or leaking now. Third 2013 Winter, the bottom freezer was leaking and ice buildup at bottom. We have been having problems ever since we got this. WHIRLPOOL YOU HAVE DISAPPOINTED US, its been an exasperating experience. Please Help, its not our fault for your poor design & faulty product.
I purchased a high dollar built in side by side fridge with custom panels in 4/2005 and had my first service call in 5/2005. Since 2005 we have had 11 service call mostly for defrost failures and over temp. readings. From 2011-11/20/2013 we were issue free then the fridge over temp alarm sounded and we could not hear the fan motor. We had the certified tech come out to evaluate and found that the main control board needed to be replaced. Kitchen Aid/Whirlpool no longer make this item and forwarded us to Core Centric solutions to have a new one built. After speaking with the certified tech who had been out to service our fridge 11 times he informed us that these boards in his experience have never lasted more than a year. We spoke with a customer service rep a Kitchen Aid and asked about a prorated discount on a new built in fridge and she said it seemed reasonable but after checking for authorization informed me I needed to have the board rebuilt at my own cost and that even though this typically takes about 4 weeks to build the fact that our family would be without a fridge is not Kitchen Aids problem. 6/20/2005-over temp/not cooling call (replaced defrost thermostat) 9/2005-over temp/freezer iced over in bottom (freezer decided and drain unclogged) 10/05-over temp/not cooling (replaced fan motor) 9/06-over temp/freezer iced over in bottom (drain line decided, kitchen aid had no advice on how to fix) 10/06-over temp/not cooling, ice build up (whirlpool recommended replace heat kit and bimetal) 11/7-over temp and ice buildup in freezer with leakage (adj to drain pump and defrost drain basin made) 11/07- over temp and freezer icing over (whirlpool sent out a new heater probe) 6/08-over temp and ice buildup (bimetal and foam block replaced) 10/09-over temp, lights and motor shutting on and off (replaced defective board) 10/09- fan making excessive noise (ice buildup found on evaporator fan)11/13-over temp ice buildup in freezer, burning smell from fridge and no air movement or cooling in either compartment (need board rebuilt as on 10/09)Board no longer available from whirlpool, must be custom built at owners expense and will take up to 4 weeks. D/t continuing issues and whirlpool not willing to help the customer with replacement I would highly suggest no one buy a Kitchen Aid fridge.
The microwave (wmh32519fs) is about a little a year old. It intermittently will not start with the message close/open door. Called Whirlpool. They refused to repair because it is out of warranty (1 year). I am fed up with this issue and probably buying a new one but not Whirlpool, a crappy product!
Bought the top of the line Whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer. Washing machine lasted 3 years. Took forever to do a load and would not be clean after taking an hour to wash. The dryer is still going, but would not surprise me if it died any day. Do not buy.
My NEW Whirlpool top loader just stopped working. I bought it in June 2015. The extended warranty I purchased ended at the end of June of this year. Guess what happened a few weeks later? The thing died. Seems totally fishy! My parents washing machine lasted 20 years. Why does this one die weeks after the warranty expired?
My washing machine is just over a year old and it has ruined so many clothes... They come out with brown stains on them... Almost like a oily stain. Not sure where its coming from but its either Im gonna have to buy a different machine or keep buying clothes. My husbands t-shirts look terrible... If any suggestions to what it can be please respond back to me. Thanks. Model# wtw4815ewo. Serial# c51433710.
I had a Whirlpool Natural Gas Water Heater professionally installed on 2-27-2107. This unit came with a Honeywell controller and thermopile assembly. Today is 05-18-2019 and the unit is not inoperative. The pilot is lit but the burner wont light. Here are the issues that I have come across so far: When I go to the Whirlpool site there is no direct link to Whirlpool water heaters, just kitchen appliances and washer/dryers. When I click on parts and accessories link it gives links to washers, dryers or pedestals. Again... No information about water heaters. I scroll down to the bottom of this page and I see a link to All Replacement Parts When I click that it takes me to another site managed by RepairClinic. When I enter the model number for the water heater it says Not Found. I entered the part number for the thermopile on the tag on the orange wire #321165-002 and 100078039 and again it returns as Part Not Found. Its obvious that Whirlpool is putting little effort into supporting their water heaters or their customers. I called their support line and they were able to order the thermopile assembly for $55 plus $27.95 in shipping to get it here by Tuesday. Today is Saturday. So that means almost 4 days without hot water. And since this water heater was a warranty replacement for a previous one that went bad they will not cover the cost of replacement parts for the thermopile. Lesson learned: No more Whirlpool purchases for any of their appliances.
I purchased a Whirlpool® 4.5 cu. ft. Front Load Washer with Load & Go Dispenser in 2017. By August of 2020 the washing machine was no longer working. The machine would continue to fill with water and not shut off. The machine would then give an error of E01 and F03 and drain all water within 5 minutes of the wash load starting. I had a certified Whirlpool technician come and diagnose the problem for $99. The technician said these error codes happen ALL THE TIME on Whirlpool washers. The technician tried to replace the water pressure switch with no success. He then spoke to a corporate office and was told we would have to replace the motherboard for over $500. The total cost for the diagnosis and repair was almost the exact price I paid for a new washer just 3 years earlier. I will NEVER purchase any Whirlpool appliance ever again.
This Whirlpool Gas oven with 5 burner top is very good and has given us 12 years of good service so far. The only issue is that the stovetop and oven are not easy to clean and keep clean. The finish is good and has no chips. I would expect the top to be easier to clean and keep clean with the finish technologies available. Same for the oven window glass - it is not easy to clean and keep clean.
Bought this Whirlpool washer (WTW5000DW0) to save energy and water consumption. It has been awful from day 1. Clothes come out with detergent (white marks) all over them. Clothes aren’t spun out enough to dry them. It takes FOREVER for a load to finish, I can’t imagine that this is saving me anything on electric. Waste of money. Do not buy this!
I dont take pleasure in writing this review and to the readers, please know that this is the truth without bias. Before you buy from Whirlpool or purchase their extended warranty, you should know: I am writing this review based on my personal experience. I purchased the extended warranty in 2017 (approximate) for three years. In 11/2018, our Whirlpool dishwasher, model wdt920sadm2, which was purchased with our new home in 06/2016, began having issues and was not drying the dishes properly. I called Whirlpool warranty and requested service.Approximately 10 days later, a repairman from Convenience Appliances Service Inc. (repair tech) came and fixed that problem (wasnt drying). My wife turned on the dishwasher the very same day and we came back and the floor was flooded with water. We believe this was contributed to the initial repair and has never happened prior to that. Fast forward, approximately 5 service calls or more later (not embellishing), the dishwasher is still not repaired and the technician can’t figure out where the leak is coming from. On 02/25/2019, I received a phone call from Ms. **, Whirlpool/AIG care team (AIG is the underwriter) and was offered $540.75 and I would be required to complete a “proof of destruction affirmation” form.I accepted the offer and received an email the same day stating: Thank you for contacting Whirlpool Extended Service Plans Consumer Care Team. Per our conversation, I have attached the affirmation of destruction for your dishwasher. Please verify the information, sign, and return to us. Once we receive the affirmation of destruction back, we will start to process your prepaid debit card. That card takes 10 to 15 business days to process and will arrive to you by FedEx. If you have further questions or concerns regarding your Whirlpool appliances, please contact us directly by calling toll-free (866) 931-7390 to reach a representative for immediate addressing of these issues between 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. ET daily, or by emailing AIGservice@whirlpool.com whenever the need arises. Sincerely, Mable. U.S. AIG CARE TEAM.That same day, I received an emailed the affirmation of destruction form back to Whirlpool on 02/25/2019. I was impressed at the time that they reviewed the repair case history and made this fair offer. My wife and I began to look for a new dishwasher and canceled the future service appointment with Convenience Appliance Services because of the offer and acceptance. On 03/01/2019, I received a call from Convenience Appliance stating that Whirlpool contacted them and they are taking back their offer because their employee (Whirlpool) didn’t follow the terms of the contract. I called Whirlpool/AIG care team and spoke to ByonBera who stated that she was sorry to hear this complaint and would forward this to her manager for resolution. On 03/04/2019, I received an additional call from the Convenience Appliance Services Inc. and they stated that Whirlpool representative was not very nice to them and that they still wanted them to come out again to my residence on 03/11/2019. On 03/04/2019, I called Whirlpool/AIG care team again, and spoke to Tandy, who again apologized and read their company script and that they are sorry but still reneged on their offer. She then transferred me to John, who again read through his script/terms of the policy. I explained in detail that Whirlpool contacted (as per their email) me directly and they made the deal. I never called and asked. I completed the affirmation of destruction as requested and was promised $540.75 within 10 to 15 days by FedEx. John stated that he would have to kick this up to their resolution department above him to see if this can be rectified. John stated that this has never happened where the customer is involved (mistakes are normally caught before the customer is contacted) and that he could understand my complaint and frustrations. I received a call back from John on 03/04/2019 that Whirlpool will not keep their offer and that a repairman will go out as scheduled even though they made the offer without solicitation! Incredibly upsetting and disappointed!!! I have never experience anything even close to this from a major company like Whirlpool. It is evident that they don’t keep their word, that customer satisfaction doesn’t matter even if they are 100 percent wrong, and that their dealing are very deceitful! We since canceled our order for a new dishwasher and are now forced to wait for the next repair attempts again. If you get anything from this long-winded review, really think twice of making a Whirlpool purchase, or their extended warranty! Whirlpool really could care less of their customers and in addition, their warranty, in my opinion, is a scam. After this I, nor my family will ever purchase a Whirlpool brand appliance again. So please be careful and learn from my experience. Never again! Whirlpool should be ashamed of themselves.
I have a Whirlpool AccuBake gas range. I started by contacting my local repairman because my stove was out of warranty. The first company came out 3 times and replaced three parts, which didnt work. The cost was $297.00. I originally paid $598.00 for the stove. After they deemed it non-repairable, I contacted Whirlpool. They basically said it was my fault for not buying the warranty. I then contacted the BBB. Anne ** from Whirlpool contacted me and had another Whirlpool service tech come out at no charge to me. But guess what, they deemed it non-repairable too. Its a shame that companies no longer stand behind their product. Its very apparent that this is a manufacturers defect. They should replace the stove.
Purchased a double wall oven and had it for 13 months. Used it this past Christmas and for the first time used the self cleaning mode. After an hour the power went out and now the oven is dead. Whirlpool service sent me to a local repair company and they want $70 to come out and look at the oven. This seems like a huge problem based on all of the feedback on the web. This is an obvious lemon and Im going to talk all over social media about the poor quality of this product.
The machine never allows enough water to clean the clothes and I do not have the option to add more water or to spin the clothes again. The maker of this machine must think that people do not have the ability to know how to wash clothes or think for themselves. I need a washer that I can tell to add more water or just spin these clothes again. Very disappointed. I need an older model that I can control.
Never buy a Whirlpool water heater. Theyre junk and they dont honor warranties. NO wonder theres a lot of bad reviews. Im one of those suckers. You would think Whirlpool would do a better job. But the blessing in all this I wont have to deal with Whirlpool again. Including washer and dryer, ref, stove, dishwasher and etc.
I just experienced the same problem with my top load Whirlpool Cabrio WTW7800XWO. It is 3 years old, and I paid $900 for it. The plastic that surrounds the glass top is broken around the hinge. I had to pay $75 for American Home Shield to diagnose this and now I am waiting for them to order the replacement part - the part is around $190 from Sears or 245 from Partselect.com. What a pain. PLUS, the machine is so noisy and starts to vibrate loudly toward the end of the cycle.
The unit hasnt given me any trouble over the two (2) years we have used it. The bottom freezer works well and was a concern when buying, but has worked out well and convenient, but you must keep the refrigerant coils clean.
I bought a Whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer on March 2010 from Leons under the dont pay for 18 months. It took 2 months for me to receive it. I thought it was a great washing machine. I made my last payment on July 2011.On the first week of August, the machine stopped working. The F 51 code appeared. I then looked up the code. I also looked up complaints. I called Whirlpool customer service and was told it would be $81.00 per hour for service plus parts. I asked why there are so many complaints about this machine, and after spending a good amount of money on what I believed was a good make of washing machine, I could not believe that they would expect a customer to then turn around and fork out that kind of money for repair.I was told that the one year warranty has expired, so it is my responsibility to pay. I am a widow with 2 children, working 7 days a week to pay my regular bills and now they expect me to pay for repairs on a washing machine that is only 15 months old. Thanks Whirlpool. I will be sure to tell everyone not to purchase Whirlpool products and thanks to my neighbors for letting me use their washing machine because I cant afford to fix mine.
I bought three top of the line 40-gallon Whirlpool electric water heaters from Lowes three years ago. One of the three heaters has already developed a leak. I contacted Whirlpool only to find out that they wont do anything to diagnose the problem. I have to pay labor for someone to come out, diagnose the problem and then pay for the labor to either correct the problem or replace the water heater. By the time I pay the labor costs, I could almost buy a brand new unit.
A whirlpool water heater model FG1F5040T3 purchased from Lowes five years ago developed problems, which could not be fixed. My problems started two weeks ago when the pilot light would not stay lit eight hours at a time and then nothing. Having a service plan through our utilities, they were notified not once but as it stands now, 6 times. Six techs have been out to my house and replaced the thermocouple twice and a complete gas control valve. The pilot still will not stay lit. Supervisor contacted Whirlpool on Thursday. Now its Saturday and no word from Whirlpool and no hot water. Try to get assistance from Whirlpool after work hours and it is impossible. This tells me that they do not care about their customer or the product that they make. Do not buy Whirlpool products!
In 2/2007, I purchased a Whirlpool Duet Front Load Washer (GHW9400PW) and have had constant F06 failures. After the repairman debrided the pump, he felt the issue might be electrical, if not resolved, it will fail again. Now, it needs a $400 to $500 electrical system and cannot be guaranteed that will end failures as these washers have had many problems. It cost $1000 and only lasted 4 years before the failures appeared. Whirlpool only offers a one-year warranty, which is not enough to cover the future problems these machines are prone to developing.
We purchase the Whirlpool Gold Dishwasher GU2400XTPB7 with our new home. This dishwasher has a plastic tub. For some unknown reason the dishwasher started to leak, I checked every hose connection and could not find the leak until I noticed four small burn marks in the plastic tub underneath the heating element. It actually looks like someone took a cigarette to the plastic. One of the burns went through the plastic tub, and this is where the leak is. Note: at no time did any of our dishes touch the heating element.I called Whirlpool customer service and they said they would send a technician out for $81 and in addition I would be charged $19 for every 15 minutes of service. I had asked to speak to a supervisor and he recommended that a technician come to my house at my expense and all the supervisor could say was that he was sorry, which became even more frustrating. No remuneration was offered. I have had other issues with our Whirlpool washing machine (holes in clothes), gas range stove (ignitron issues), and fridge. l will never purchase any Whirlpool product again including Jenn-Air. I made this quite clear to the supervisor. Whirlpools products and customer service are inferior based on my experience with our four appliances. It would be great if they actually practiced what their mission statement suggests, because as a customer I truly feel defeated.
I purchased my Cabrio washer and dryer 4 years ago, my dryer doesnt dry completely, I have to do 2 to 3 cycles to dry. My washer has an f51 code and I have problems unlocking the lid and it takes 2 to 3 hours to wash. This is ridiculous and it causing my electric bill to spike. Is there a recall on the Cabrio?
I purchased a Whirlpool gas hot water heater in July 2012 and have had to replace the control/pilot light mechanism every 6 months since then. Whirlpools customer service is the worst service in the world. They are rude. I have followed their instructions every time and have been accused of being uncooperative. I paid $350 to $400 for my heater and just spent $200.00 to have a plumber put apple cider vinegar in my tank.I was told by Whirlpool that the calcium sediment was causing the problem... I drained this tank twice and there was no sediment in the tank. This is evidently a common error for Whirlpool tanks. I will never purchase any Whirlpool product again and will tell others that their products are crap. The worst part was the inconsiderate customer service. I dont know who trains them, but they need to fire the entire bunch. Shame on you Whirlpool!
Do not buy a Whirlpool refrigerator. This is the 3rd time I have to call in repair for the ice maker in 4 years. Water poured out on my floor for the 3rd time ruining my floors. Called Whirlpool and said there is nothing they can do to help me. They don’t care about their Customers! I could have bought a new one by now based on repair costs. They don’t back their products. I’m really annoyed now!
Bought this set for its basic functions. We dont need a lot of bells and whistles. The washer is rated as a water saver but it seems to use more water than our 10-year-old model. The only issue we had was with the electronics. Even though it has few features, it one day decided to not function at all. A call to support recommended just unplugging it for a few minutes so it could reset itself. For once this seemingly crazy idea worked and the unit has been normal ever since. I recommend buying from the outlet store as a scratch and dent. This saves lots of money and if the unit is not on display, who cares about the minor dent.
I purchased a Whirlpool French door fridge 6 years ago. In less than a year, it was not cooling and I was able to retroactively purchase an extended warranty which ended up saving me a ton. Less than 3 years later it had broken 3 times with three different part problems with a total down time of 6 months. Despite saying it didn’t qualify for lemon law, I was able to get it replaced after presenting all the facts. 3 years later, the new one is now currently experiencing the same problem and running a toasty 58 degrees and my food is once again in coolers on ice. Shopping for a different brand and I recommend you do as well. Whirlpool used to be a brand you could rely on. No more.
My 2 year Jennaire (made by Whirlpool) broke down on 12/14/11. Repairman came out on 12/19. He said that the compressor was not working and ordered another and he came out again on 12/22. He said that it could not be fixed (internal leak or something). An aside to this story was that a tank of compressed oil blew and damaged my hallway and kitchen walls and floors and 2 rugs. That was being handled by the repairmans insurance company. We called Whirlpool and they said that they we could pick out a new refrigerator priced at no more than $2399 even though we paid $2799 for the Jennaire and would have to pay the difference for a model costing more. We went with a Maytag (Whirlpool product) that listed for $2899 but was available at 2 local stores for $2050 and $2100 but I had to give Whirlpool anther $500 because they use the MRP.They finally delivered it on 1/5/12 but would not leave it because no one disconnected the water line to the appliance and they would not touch it. It took me 20 seconds to do it and if they would have told me so it would have been done on the 5th. Rescheduled delivery for 1/8/12 and the unit was delivered damaged (large dent in front) and they would not temporarily leave it until a replacement came.I called Whirlpool again and asked them to just call a local Home Depot or anyone in my area (all had the unit in stock) to deliver one but they told me that it must come from the warehouse in Michigan (I live in PA) and that it would be yet another 5 to 10 business days to receive it. So, I am paying $700 more for a unit that I could have bought and had delivered before Christmas not to mention the inconvenience of no unit for a month. Not to mention the damage to my home, $200+ dollars in thrown away food, time to shop for new unit, time for 2 repairman appointments and time for the 2 deliveries thus far and countless phone calls to Whirlpool to get the new unit.Today is 1/10/12, so I guess Ill have by month end if there are no other problems, you would think that they would try to expedite this just because its been so long or give us a substantial credit for all the trouble. Never again Whirlpool.
After Hurricane Katrina, six years ago, the gas water heater in my house had to be replaced due to the house getting flooded. For the past six years, the pilot light and/or igniter for the gas water heater has had to be replaced if not once a year, twice a year because it will not stay lit. Each time, Whirlpool would send a new igniter and/or pilot light part and would reimburse me the cost of labor to have the part(s) replaced. Now, after six years and exhausted of fighting with Whirlpool to stand behind their product and make it right, they are finally giving me an authorization to get a new gas water heater. However, now they are telling me they will not cover the cost of labor for replacing the entire water heater. My plumber will have to pull the defective water heater out of my house, take it to Lowes, pick up the new water heater and install it in my home. And Im supposed to accept their not paying for the labor of replacing their faulty water heater? I questioned this and told Whirlpool they paid for labor for the parts to be replaced for the past six years. Whirlpool then said they would pay up to $100. This is not acceptable. I was reimbursed more than $100 for the labor to replace a part that fits in a shoe box. (Multiply $100+ times 6. They paid more than $600 over the past six years.) The cost to replace an entire water heater, picking it up from the store included, will cost more than $200, if not $300! I would not have to pay anything if the Whirlpool product was not defective!I told the manager I was speaking with at Whirlpool I wanted to speak with his boss or someone who had more authority than he did. He refused. I asked him, Was he telling me no I could not speak with someone above him? He finally said he would have someone call me.I believe I should be reimbursed for the entire amount of labor to replace the water heater since the water heater is a defective product and I have to have it replaced not by my choice but out of necessity and safety. If it is defective in one area, who is to say in trying to light the pilot light, one day it will not do something worse than just not light up. What if it decides to explode? Defective is defective and I feel my family is in danger from a defective product and it should be replaced at the cost of Whirlpool not mine.
I purchased Whirlpool Refrigerator model WRF989SDAM02 in June of 2014. I began having problems with the ice forming into a solid block shortly after having the refrigerator installed. I called for service several times over the next year trying to rectify the problem. Once the warranty had expired I continued upon the advice of Whirlpool Customer Service to schedule their certified Technicians to work on the problem. A year and a half and several hundred dollars later I am still unable to get ice cubes when desired.Ultimately I was advised that I would need to use the ice maker once a day to keep it from forming into a block. When this didnt solve the problem I again contacted Whirlpool, had another of their recommended service technician come and give his advice. I was told that the ice maker needs to be in constant use or it forms a block and this is a defect in the design of this unit. A Pro Tech Appliance Inc. Technician, an authorized Whirlpool technical representative, said the only way to have usage of ice would be if I made sure to dispense ice a minimum of 8-10 times a day. This is completely impractical and just plain ridiculous. I contacted Whirlpool again. They refuse to acknowledge this is a defect in the design of this model. I have replaced all parts that can be replaced, had the unit resealed and have paid for multiple service call. Whirlpool will provide no remedy for this problem. Now that the unit is out of warranty they have refused to provide a resolution even though its issue began while still covered under the year warranty. The ice in the ice maker is completely unusable and melts into a solid block within 24 hours if not in continual use.
We have had a Whirlpool hot water heater for 4 years now. Every three months something has to be replaced on it. Customer service does nothing to help and when we called Monday about a replacement part they told us they could no longer sell parts for that specific heater due to it being in a double wide. I contacted several more people and found out that heater was fine; all we needed was the part. The customer service woman was very rude and not willing to help at all. I told them we don’t have the money to keep replacing their piece of **. I ended up having to order yet again another part that was just replaced 2 months ago from Lowes. So after being with no hot water since Monday, now on Friday it is fixed, I wonder for how long. We do not recommend Whirlpool for nothing and will never buy a piece of ** from them anymore. We have a Whirlpool refrigerator that is causing us problems. I hope to soon get different brands in here to replace what Whirlpool can’t seem to make accurate.
The top of the range stays very hot. Not the burners -- just the top of the stove itself. Now the oven pilot wont light and there doesnt seem to be any sound or smell of gas when I try, though the range works fine.
I purchased a 12 year warranty, high end Whirlpool WATER HEATER (OR SO I THOUGHT AT THE TIME) through Lowes in 2014. Model ND50T122-403. Six years and multiple service calls later it is broken again, this time for the final time. I am ripping this garbage out. So livid with this company that could give a rip about their customers. Three years in to my 12 year warranty it started giving me problems. Horrible HORRIBLE customer service. They will insult your intelligence. Whirlpool will not honor the warranty or stand behind their product. They just take your money and basically give a shrug of the shoulders or worse blame you for THEIR TERRIBLE product failing. It may be unscrupulous and unethical but I guess saves them a pile of money which is what they seem to only be out.The Service Tech that came for the 4th time to repair it says they see this all the time in Whirlpool water heaters. Its a Design Flaw they say. I dont know about all that. I just know when I have been swindled. The electronics are garbage. The pilot light when it goes out is not easily reset as others have mentioned on this site. Will stay lit for while and then shuts down. Whirlpool says, despite reams of evidence to the contrary it must be a safety issue in the install, which they have absolutely zero evidence of therefore, they are not honoring the warranty. They are Blaming the installers, according to our service techs who tried to order the part thats supposed to be under warranty. The original installers, by the way were from Lowes, the outfit that sold me this hot mess. Another Class action lawsuit seems ripe. Or perhaps the consumer protection division from each states Attorneys General would be interested in protecting their citizens from practices like this. Lowes is complicit in allowing it, failing to protect their customers and not calling Whirlpool out for it. I cant think of a more deserving target of consumer protection than Whirlpool. A truly horrible, expensive experience. See the Whirlpool logo and RUN - - DO NOT WALK -- THE OTHER WAY!
Our original dishwasher lasted many years and did a good job until it didnt. We replaced it with this one that we found at Home Depot. It is not the one we wanted but the delivery was months away and this one was in stock. It does a good job in cleaning the dishes. The only issue I have is that the top rack is not designed for large mugs or glasses. The wine glass holder has 3 slots, but we can only get two in based on the spacing. Also, our mugs dont fit, well on the other side, inside the fingers. Maybe our dishes are on the larger side...I dont think so but like I said earlier, it does a good job cleaning the dishes.
We purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio Washer and Dryer in 2007. The washer sounded like it was going to take off and started leaking water. Two repair techs later, we found out it was the center bearing. They actually laughed and said they saw it all the time. It could be replaced (you need to replace the whole drum) for $300-$500, but I was told it would never be the same. I spoke with Whirlpool numerous times and they said they would do nothing, and I should have purchased the extended warranty. All I ask is for a company to stand behind their product. Im very disappointed.
This washer has been a lemon since the day we bought it. Always leaves marks all over dark clothes. Had to have a part replaced before we owned it a year & repairman from the company said they have to replace that same part every time they go out so they carry them on the truck. Latch broke after owning it for less than 2 years & now it no longer spins water out of clothes. All this & we havent even owned it 3 years. I had a GE washer for years when I first got married & had children. Never had problems like this. Paid it off on Monday & on Friday it became a piece of junk. How is Whirlpool getting away with this misrepresentation? I dont even see how they can call it a washer.
2013 Whirlpool gold series stainless steel dishwasher, at that time it was their top of the line product, nice looking, stainless steel, stainless steel tub, very quiet. However this piece of junk does not stay fixed for more than a year, at best. I am a technician by trade albeit not on consumer appliances, I usually work on more complex multimillion dollar equipment; point being, I know my stuff.I have been throwing parts on this box like no tomorrow, Tub replaced, water director motor replaced, top railing replaced, small plastic pieces on top rack replaced. MTBF - Mean time before failure is 6-8 months and deteriorating over time. 2 issues are predominant symptoms of its failures, its either leaking or dishes dont get cleaned. I see the symptoms again and I am tired of fixing it so it going to the curb tomorrow. There is no way an expensive appliance like this (around 800$) can cost 100$ a year in parts to maintain (Note: parts only)... not to mind my labor and hassle ++ water damage to your cabinets. Stay away from Whirlpool and keep your sanity!
The Whirlpool washing machine came with our apartment. It is a top loader, which I like. The only difficulty is that no matter what I clean the interior with, I cannot seem to get it clean. It gets very dingy, even with HE detergents.
I bought my topload washer 2 years ago along with a dryer. The past month, the washer started sounding like an airplane, ready to take off, whenever the spin cycle was on. Then, it started to not start at all on certain cycles or would start to pump water in and then stop suddenly. I had a repair man in today, and it was not good news. He told me that he sees this a lot, especially with the Whirlpool washers and it is costly. The bearings are shot and will cost close to $500 for parts (alone), not costing the price to have it repaired. So now, I have called Whirlpool. The people there are very friendly and sympathetic. But even though I went as high as the supervisor (the highest authority I could speak to), he told me my washer is not on the recall list! I asked what it took to get it on one. Basically, my complaint was filed and end of story. Well, not quite. The supervisor was kind enough to give me the address for the Head Office for Whirlpool Canada. So people, start writing into this address and bombard them with your frustration: Whirlpool Executive Office, 200-6750 Century Avenue, Mississippi, Ontario L5N 0B7. If you have spoken to Whirlpool, ask for your reference number pertaining to your case and include it in your letter along with your phone number. In the meantime, I will be writing a lengthy letter; and I also went out today and bought another washer! Yes, it was not a Whirlpool, and I will never have another Whirlpool appliance in my home. And I will steer anyone away from this brand name. Good luck to all and start writing!
Refrigerator making a non stop loud noise, model WRF560SFYH01 - Thought I was buying a reliable product with a good name. Should have read other customer concerns as it seems like the products last as long as the warranty. A few months after the warranty, my refrigerator started making a very loud noise. Repair person takes it apart as the diagnostics showed no error and his best guess was a thermistor as there was ice build up making contact with the fan. Replaced it and the total of the bill was $174.23 and this may not even be the problem. If it is the board not reading properly, very expensive.
Whirlpool gold series gas oven with Aqua Lift. Very unhappy with this oven. Cons: Aqua Lift technology doesnt work AT ALL (manual cleaning required); stove top hard to clean; 2 front gas burners are super burners which is fine for boiling water, but too hot for regular cooking. Would be better to have one super burner in the middle or back but two up front is way too hot for regular cooking, even on lowest setting; oven cuts out while cooking -- unexplainable how this happens but you really have to watch the oven while cooking to make sure its still on. Pros: large oven so you can cook ginormous turkeys or prime ribs.
Recently had a Whirlpool gas water heater installed. Would smell gas every time the heater kicked on. I inspected the vent, all the new fittings, with no luck. Leaving the windows open didnt help. Finally found the problem: the factory-installed line from the gas control valve to the tank was leaking. Should have kept my old heater. It was still working flawlessly after 20 years. You would think a new heater would at least be inspected before hitting the market.
We bought Whirlpool duet front loading washer and matching dryer. In 3 years the water level seemed like it was off. Clothes, especially towels were coming out stinky. Eventually you could hear the clothes were merely flopping around wet. Before we could order the repair part it completely quit and locked our clothes into it. I washed my clothes at my daughters house for a week and dried them at home. Within the week the dryer quit. Not having the money to repair both machines, my son gifted me a set of top loading washer/dryer. Again Whirlpool. In a week we had repair service out. They replaced everything possible and it still didnt work right. Since the 90 days from purchase was approaching we returned it to the store and they had Whirlpool send us a brand new dryer. This one worked for a month then stopped spinning. I havent called for service yet because now with 3 broken machines I am so disgusted. When I think about them I feel like I am going to puke. My washing machine shouldnt be the worst thing in my life, especially since it was a lovely gift from a wonderful son.
I’ve had my washer and dryer for a long time and it has been okay and it’s time to update. It has had its up and down and I may get another just after a while they are outdated and better appliances come along. Smarter people are making smarter things.
We replaced our kitchen appliances and went with Whirlpool. The oven and Refrigerator havent had any issues yet but the dishwasher has been crap since it was installed. While it looks 10 times better than my old dirty dishwasher it replaced, its main function of washing dishes is 1/4 the of the quality after running two or three times. Not to mention the average cycle time is 4-8 hrs. Dishwashers by design, should be convenient and save time. Whirlpool managed to remove both of those traits from this Dishwasher and now their warranty service said they can send out a technician but I will have to pay for it if it’s not covered under warranty!
I have had my Whirlpool W10280546B HE washer for 1 1/2 years. For the last year, I have had constant problems with the washer leaving a large amount of residue (in spots) all over my laundry. I have always run my washer as instructed, and I only used HE detergent in the correct amount. This residue appears to be fine lint, but may be lint combined with detergent.I have used the washing machine cleaning tablets and powders, but this has not helped at all. No one seems to have ever heard of this problem. I have to clean off these spots which cover approximately 1/3 of each article with every washing. The dryer helps get some of it off, but not nearly all of it. Any suggestions besides buying another washer of another brand after only 1 1/2 years?!
This washer is an extremely poor choice if you wash clothes. It has so little water it does not dissolve HE detergent, Clorox 2, or OXI Clean. After even one wash it does not clean your laundry. If you choose to wash your sheets (even though there is a sheets and deep washer setting) its a joke. I could do better by washing things in the tub. I realize its a low usage water washer but you cannot even add more water unless you put it in with a bucket.
The Whirlpool Quiet Partner II is a horrible dishwasher and should have never made it to a store to be sold. We have had the dishwasher for 4 years and about 6 months ago it started shutting off minutes after it was started. We would have to press the Cancel Button and try it again several more times prior to it finally completing the wash. After contacting our home warranty for help the tech said it is not worth fixing and will only give us a SMALL amount towards a new dishwasher.
Remodeling kitchen. On Sept. 2017, bought new Whirlpool microwave mod# WMH5352OCS, Actually put to use on Jan. 2017, by Nov. 2017 started getting open door errors by late Dec, 2017 completely quit working. From what I have been reading they barely make it thru the warranty period. Maybe they will run longer if one doesnt register the appliance. Especially with the crappy service for the ones that tried to have it repaired under warranty. I purchased it at Costco online, my next complaint will be to Costco, hopefully theyve gotten more complaints and pressure Whirlpool to stand by their product, NO MORE WHIRLPOOL FOR ME EITHER.
It is my belief that through my experience that most Gas Range manufacturers mainly Whirlpool corporation purposely designs the stove igniter part to fail in 5-10 years. They do this in hope the consumer will purchase a new stove. The igniter in my stove has failed 6 times since I purchased it in 2005. I have had to replace it at my expense each time. The last time it failed, I asked Whirlpool if they would do a good faith gesture and replace it. They very rudely refused. I will never purchase another Whirlpool appliance again and encourage others to follow me. If they give me this much grief over a simple good faith gesture, I can only imagine the difficulties in getting them to honor a warranty claim!
I purchased (from Lowes) a Whirlpool water heater in 2010 unaware of the recall and problems a lot of customers were experiencing. I have changed (6) thermocouples the most recent yesterday 2-10-2014. The heater still does not work. Is there any compensation I can receive at this date. If Lowes were aware of the problems with the heaters, how can they still in honest sell these water heaters to the public.
This is a good looking, inexpensive stove/oven. Stove top has four burners. I liked the split grates on the stove top. Its easier to remove and clean. I do not like the rubber seal on the oven door. I am used to the heavier duty seals on most oven doors.
Purchased a home recently that had a Whirlpool dishwasher installed within it. Havent lived here for more than 2 weeks. Go to use the dishwasher a week ago and the dishwasher wont turn on. Its brand new! We tried resetting the breaker and all the tricks on the website page. So we called Whirlpool to have them send someone out and diagnose the problem... a week later. The appliance repair man comes out and says its not receiving the proper voltage for the dishwasher to run. So I contact the electric company that installed the electric wires within the home and they came out the next day to check their work. The electrician found that there was the proper voltage coming into the lines for the dishwasher to run and in fact it is the dishwasher. So at this point Im back to square one and called Whirlpool again. At this point, I just wanted them to replace the dishwasher with a new one (same model, no upgrade) since it hasnt even been 30 days of owning the thing and its already having issues. I havent even used it once. I didnt think I was crazy for asking for a new one. Especially when the problem seems to be electrically related. They tell me another person has to come back out and deem the product unrepairable for them to exchange the product for a new one. They tell me its going to be yet again another week for someone to come deem it repairable or not. But wait heres a 75 dollar Visa gift card for your inconvenience. How about you spend the 75 dollars on hiring a technician to come fix it today? Had a similar problem with a LG appliance and they sent me a new one with no hassle without even sending a tech out to see if it was repairable or not. Buyers beware! Dont waste your money on Whirlpool. Clearly they do not care about their customers. They would rather spend more money in technician fees than to just admit their product isnt functioning correctly and replace it.
Thrilled with my first experience (9 years now) with my Whirlpool glass-top range/oven. Truly LOVE the modern look of glass cooking surface which cleans up like a dream! NO harsh abrasives needed, always WIPES shiny and beautiful. All-electric...no stinky gas fumes. Wonderful features... Computer controls, SELF-CLEANING OVEN. Now, if only it would do the prep-work.
I purchased a washer 6 months ago and it was starting by itself so I called to get a technician out and it took them 3 days to tell me that they did not service in our area. Long story short I was out of a washer for 2 weeks talking back & forth with Whirlpool which was absolutely a nightmare. Kept me on hold forever and hung up on me several times so they didnt have to deal with the situation. Absolutely no customer service at all. When it came down to it they were going to issue me a new washing machine and I had to go to the store to get it and when I got to the store they told me I had a $415.00 credit to spend. Thats less than what I had paid for the washing machine and then I am having to spend an extra $200.00 out of pocket to get another washing machine. My warning to you is not to purchase any Whirlpool appliances unless you want to go thru pure hell. These people do not care about anyone after the product is sold. Their customer service sucks, their appliances suck and Whirlpool just sucks all the way around!! Worst experience I have ever had and I hope they never sell another appliance again!!
If you are thinking of buying any Whirlpool products, please think twice. We had a dishwasher, lasted 2 years; range with cook-top, within 2 years computer had to be replaced and again in another 2 years. Needless to say we did not replace either one with a Whirlpool. Over the range Microwave Oven Magnetron blows in 5 years. 3 months over the warranty. In a call to Whirlpool we were told we are sorry you have had all this trouble, we will send a repair man out and he can replace the parts needed. Thanks, but no thanks and went out and purchased a Samsung model, probably cheaper than the repairs would have cost us. There are so many good appliances to choose from. Please stay away from any Whirlpool products, no need for additional aggravation.
We purchased a stackable electric washer/dryer unit and received in October. Had issues from the start. Called Whirlpool in Dec 2018 and they sent out their contracted service company. Told us they were ordering parts. Never heard from anyone. Called service contractor and they said never received parts. Called January. WP told us that because it was a new model, they didnt have the parts. We asked them to replace the unit. WP called us and said they would replace the unit and it would arrive in late January. NO CALL. Called 2/22 and said, no similar units available. Ask them to upgrade me if there were units available. Said they would and the inventory of the upgraded unit was promising. Would get a call from delivery company for a 3/6 delivery and install. 3/2: Called because hadnt heard from anyone and called WP. Today Katrina ID # ** tells me they are making the new upgraded unit with an anticipated delivery of MID MARCH. I just about flipped my lid. I asked for a supervisor of which she said she was a SR support specialist. I asked that this be escalated and I get a call regarding status. She advised that she would inquire and call me back. Likely shouldnt hold my breath or try to call back because you are on hold for up to 1-2 hours. Just to clarify, have never had an issue with Whirlpool. Every appliance we have in our home is Whirlpool. I just cant believe this experience. I am going to the media on my next stop.
Buyers beware of Whirlpool ovens! We bought a Whirlpool Built-In Electric Oven in August 2008. Fifteen months later, I decided to clean the oven for the first time and when I turned it on the auto-clean, the entire control panel went dark. The technician said he has seen this problem several times in such ovens and was able to repair the oven. I called Whirlpool and they had not heard of this being a common problem. Last week, the air blower wasnt functioning and had to be replaced. I called Whirlpool again and told them about this second incident in a 4 year old oven that is not used frequently. I told them their quality assurance people and/or engineers need to re-evaluate their products. My lesson learned is that I will never purchase another Whirlpool or Whirlpool related product.
Overall??? Ive owned this Whirlpool side-by-side refrigerator for a year now. Love it except for semiannual cost to replace the filter. My brother recently installed the same model in his motorcoach. Yes I recommend this appliance.???
I have a double door bottom freezer refrigerator manufactured by whirlpool. It is less than 2 years old and is an absolute piece of garbage! In less than a year the noise started, then the freezer became a refrigerator and my frozen stuff melted. I had a local technician come in and he fixed it but he indicated that the fix would not likely correct the problem. Sure enough, about 6 months later the same problem started all over again. Nowadays one is never sure where a product is manufactured. However, if Whirlpool had their products made by chimpanzees in the jungle they would be better than the pieces of trash they are now selling!
I bought a Whirlpool front loading washing machine 5 years ago, which has given me constant trouble. The computer on the machine is not working. When it is fixed, the machines makes extremely loud grinding noises and frequently the spinner does not work properly, leaving you with heavy sodden wet clothes. Whirlpools guarantee is very limited and customer service is unhelpful except to apologize for your horrible experience. You will have to pay for a technician to diagnose the problem. I will have to replace this costly machine after just 5 years of unreliable service. I would never buy a Whirlpool product again.
Since buying a Whirlpool Cabrio washer about 3 years ago have had several breakdowns. Within 6 months the computer completely failed. Since then it failed again. About every six months it costs me around $125 to get it running. The thing is a piece of junk. If the load is slightly unbalanced it just shuts down during the spin cycle. The old Maytag we had ran for over 25 years with the belt replaced once. No other problems. Will not buy another Whirlpool again.
I purchased model #GI7FVCXWY01, SERIAL #KY4234335, and it arrived in Jan 2010. It is now going in the trash! Two repair companies came out and both told me the ice maker had issued a recall, but in reality, Whirlpool told me to buy the replacement part for $348.73 to fix their poor design! I called the 1-866-698-2538 customer service and so sorry is all you get! By the way, neither of the repair were willing to install the replacement part, as it takes too long to install and these compressors are never the same after the ice maker has these issues! Both repairmen said to trash the refrigerator. How sad that a $2500 refrigerator only last from Jan 2010 until June 1, 2014!!! I will never buy a Whirlpool anything!
Whirlpool Cabrio Platinum Washer - The seal on the top of the drum is breaking down. It is cracking at the bleach and soap dispenser. Somewhere in the washer drum or plate is causing holes and cuts in the clothes. The machine is only 2 years old.
In Nov 2004, I purchased whirlpool oven GW395LPQ-00 from Sears. Let me preface this by saying I rarely use the oven usually just the stove top. In July 2007 after baking in the oven for a couple of hours and cooking on the stove top the oven went out of control. The temperature rose and burned the food in the oven. Whirlpool dispatched a technician and said nothing was wrong. Dec 2007 during a dinner party the oven again went out of control, raised the temperature on its own and burned the dinner. By this time I have used the oven maybe 25 times. Jan 2008 Whirlpool sent a technician to replace the circuit board. Dec 2011 Stove was on for 3 hrs at 375 - a batch of cookies in the oven for 6 minutes torched on fire, smoked up the house. I have had it with this stove! The oven displays error codes every time and the only way to shut it down was to throw the circuit breaker. I checked the internet to see if there was a recall on this stove - none. I cant believe it. I contacted Whirlpools Safety Department and once again got the run around that they want to send a technician to inspect the oven. I just want the oven out of my house and for Whirlpool to take responsibility to recall this oven & to protect their consumer. There are endless complaints from customers on the internet regarding this make and model. Consistently, Whirlpool takes no responsibility for their faulty products.
Contacted Whirlpool - unit (Cabrio washer 7600xt) is out of 12-mo warranty. Spoke with manager, Tracy **. She said they would not help - out of warranty. Called local parts/service center - ea. hinge is $42 plus shipping and labor to install. Obviously this is a defective design. The lid is too heavy. I was having a difficult time deciding to spend 150-200 dollars every 2-3 years for hinges on a $700 washer and then I read all the other complaints about Whirlpool washers. I will sell it for scrap and buy a better brand.
My 3 door fridge is roomy, well lighted and well organized. I love the fact that when I open the doors, I can see everything at a glance. The freezer section is also well organized and holds plenty. Being able to get filtered water and ice in the door is convenient. The main reason I picked Whirlpool is that it is made in the USA! I want to support American manufacturers that employ my fellow citizens.
Ive spent more repairing this washer than what I paid for it new!!! Its really ridiculous that Whirlpool isnt more responsible for their equipment that doesnt stand up to their name! Ive replaced more things than I want to type but just to start the computer board, pump, bearings just to name a few. Each time I had my repairman out it was a minimum of $300 to repair. Ive had my repairman out 5 times to repair things. Thinking each time its cheaper to fix it than buy another which I surely didnt think I would be repairing it several time! At this point Im just sick to death that a washer that is for a home of myself and my daughter has broken down so much. I cant imagine what a family would go through. Even after all the repairs it still isnt right but Im done sinking money into this sinking ship of a washer! Its loud constantly stops due to un level so I have to move the clothes around usually having to repeat this several times before I can get the load to finish!!! Then they come out wrinkled more than they went in and I have to iron clothes. A person should NOT need to iron! May as well wash them in the river on a rock. It would be easier!!! SO DISAPPOINTED!!!
Whirlpool WRT351SFYW 21.1 cu.ft. White Top Freezer Refrigerator - Energy... Puts out a very irritating high pitch noise, unlike my previous Whirlpool Refrig. The old one was perfectly quiet. I believe Whirlpool is going down hill in every way. WP is buying refrigerators from 3rd world countries and slapping the name on them. The delivery people were very rude with me when I was unable to give them a tip, even though I had to supply my truck to shuttle the refrig. up to my house and help them unload it. I also had to go and find them when they would not follow my directions to my house. So, they kept the wrench I loaned them; they did not have their own tools for the installation. And they refused to return it when I asked them to do so. Denvers customer service refused to respond in any way to my requests for information or complaints about the noise and delivery. Finally, their head office contacted me a month or two later, and the customer service person had initiated the discussion in argumentative attitude despite my saying I did not care anymore. I gave up on them and dont expect anything from Whirlpool anymore. While she told me that there are standard levels of acceptable noise that come from their refrigerator, she refused to acknowledge that they are not my standards, and I am the customer. Besides, I had an older Whirlpool refrig. that did not make any noise. I am sorry trusted WP. When I tried to upgrade the old refrig. - it was an expensive downgrade! Buy LG or Amana - wished I did!
I am very disappointed in my Cabrio washer. I have had it for two year and now I have to spend $ 250.00 on a machine that sounds like Im in a machine factory. It is so loud in the spin cycle that you cant hear a TV or radio. Also the lit of the washer broke in the start of the second year. I had my previous washer for 15 years before requiring a service call. I have to agree with all the reviews that this washer should be recalled. Maybe if we all call the media in on this problem Whirlpool will be forced to pay for a recall or repairs. Another case of big business ripping off the consumer.
Changing the filter is difficult & expensive. And where has the old fashioned service gone. New refrigerator and would have to pay for service. This happened when I bought the refrigerator a couple years ago. I do not think this should be the standard for a new refrigerator.
We bought a Whirlpool French door fridge model WRF989SDAM00 in 2013 and were impressed by how it looked in our kitchen. Its December 2015 and things have started to go wrong. First the freezer stopped freezing items completely and found out that ice had built up on the cooling tubes inside the rear freezer wall. Had to be taken apart and thawed with a heat gun. Now the freezer freezes on and off and the ice maker is not making ice properly and leaking all over the left side of the fridge. Went to Sears {place of purchase} and we were asked immediately if we had purchased the extended warranty. We hadnt and were told Sears could do nothing and that these newer fridges have a tendency to have trouble within the first couple of years and thats why they recommend the extended warranties. Really a $2500 dollar fridge a couple of years? Had a local appliance repairman look at it and he said the compressor was bad. $500.00 to fix. Boy do I regret buying this thing. These big companies just walk all over us consumers.
We bought this Whirlpool washer dryer set last year and extended warranty. 7 weeks ago the washer stopped working. I have spent around 60 hours so far trying to get the washer fixed. Have talked to the repair shop as well customer care up and down the chain. 5 visits so far by technicians and still not fixed. Customer care people promise to call back w/update but never do. We were going to buy LG but bought this to give business to an American company. Now our patriotism is bearing fruit. Customer care blames AIG (service contractor) and Whirlpool say that they can’t manage AIG. At the end of our rope with constant trips to laundromats. Have no idea if it will ever be fixed. So frustrating to see the name of Whirlpool tarnished to this extent. Nobody seems to be in charge and everybody passes the buck. Whirlpool is a shameful example of a company that deserves to go out of business.
I bought a Maytag front load washer on October 24, 2010. I have not been able to use it because it came damaged by the manufacturers. I contacted them by phone several times and it took them three months to send someone (A and E sears repair). Two months passed and I did not get the parts necessary or a replacement washer. I kept calling and finally they sent someone again in May 2011. They said they where going to order the parts because the new company was not going to replace the machine, even though it was already damaged. They said I would get the parts between three-five business days. I only got one part. A and E sent a repair guy again on the 22nd of June. This one said they needed the entire machine in parts and that he would order the parts. I called A and E one week later and they said they were waiting for the on manufacturer to send the parts (Whirlpool). The 26th and the 27th of July, I got the parts. On the 22nd of July, another repairman came and said we needed more parts. Today, August 16, 2011, I called Whirlpool and A and E and now they said the parts wont be here till after October 26, which by then I would have to pay for the parts and labor if I wanted it fixed because by then the one-year warranty would have expired. So here I am with a $700 washer, which was never used and they refused to fix/replace. They sold me a lemon!
I shouldve read the reviews online about Whirlpool before buying our washer and dryer Duet. 4 years later the main bearing is going out and its 1200 to fix it. No support from them or anything. They did offer a loyalty discount on a new washer... No thanks. Just would be another headache a few years down the road Im sure. Goodbye Whirlpool. Never buying anything from them or their other brands. Ill definitely spread the word too.
The W/D combo-Cabrio is crap... Dont buy it. Salesperson @ Lowes told us all washers moving away from the agitator to ones like this so we bought it. The washers does not clean everything - does not use enough water to clean - leaves your delicates so wrinkled and clothes in general beat up. The dryer decides when it thinks your clothes are dry when they are actually still very wet... very noisy. Whirlpool must have sold out because quality integrity sure is gone.
My wife and I bought a Whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer set in 2011 and now the washer has an error code of F7 E5. I spoke with an appliance guy and he says that it is going to cost up to $450 to repair it. The wash cycle does nothing, it just sits there and then it goes to the next cycle. I have grown up in a household that had washing machines that lasted many years. This is a joke. Why am I having to buy a new washer in 3 years? I dont understand. Whirlpool knows that this is a problem and they should step up and do a recall or some kind of discount towards a new machine. This is ridiculous.
A total loss of money. Does not use enough water to clean clothes. Gets out of balance all the time. Do not buy.
I bought my Whirlpool Cabrio Washing Machine in 2010. I hate it 100%. I have never used bleach in the machine. I use liquid detergent only. 2 things happen every day: #1: When I wash a load of colors, I take them out when complete and there is dry white powder like substance over the black clothes. It looks dirty but it just got washed. #2 About once a week, I will pull something out of the washer and there is a bleach spot on it. The last item that this happened to was a $200 sweater. It went in the garbage. This should never of happened with an $800 washing machine.
Bought the Whirlpool Cabrio washer (WTW7300DW) and dryer (WED7300DW1) about 8 months ago. The washer always leaves white debris on the dark clothes - looks like detergent. Except I use blue liquid detergent. It seems like the inside, bottom of the drum is deteriorating and sticking to the clothes, since there is nothing that is white in the washer. I have run it through the clean cycle several times with the recommended washer cleaning product (the brand that came as a sample with the washer). That did not help. Also, we have a dog, our old washer used to rinse out a lot of dog hair from the bottom of our socks, etc. My filter for my drain hose would always have dog hair in it. With this washer, there is no dog hair being rinsed out at all. Lint and dog hair is all through the clothes after the cycle is over. Makes me wonder where the dirt is going, then. The clothes are so twisted after washing. Anything with long sleeves get tied up around other clothes. This seems very rough to wash clothes this way. Also, if you dont use the deep water setting, its likely not to get parts of the clothes even wet. I had a gray hooded sweatshirt go through a whole wash cycle and there were spots all over it that never even got wet at all. The dryer power button is very temperamental. Sometimes I have to hit it 6 - 7 times, at different angles, until I hit it just right to get it to turn on. Other times it just turns right on. There are just 2 of us so I only do 10 - 12 loads of clothes a month. After reading all the awful reviews, I fear that these problems, which are becoming evident now, will only get worse. Yet I only have 4 more months until the warranty runs out.
GX5FHDXVY04 French door fridge. Ice maker backup issue - which cause water to build up and leak out of fridge. Fix was a known issue with a rubber grommet - $100.00. Fridge stopped blowing cold air - control board - $293. Fridge stopped blowing cold air again! Getting Nowhere with Customer service... Whirlpool used to be a great brand. They have lost me as a customer, and by the looks of this board, Facebook page, I am not alone!
