Whirlpool Range Model WFC150M0JW
My dishwasher is very basic with no extra amenities, more features like an area on the rack that would wash the inside of small opening glasses and jars and I do not like the way my silverware holder just balances on the front of the bottom rack and does not attach to where it doesnt fall off every time its bumped.
I bought the Whirlpool Duet front load washing machine. It was a piece of junk and I bought it 3 years ago. Sounds like a jet taking off during spin cycle and drain.Well, let me tell you, its terrible. It walks out of the space its in during spin all the time and the F Codes. Im done! Just replaced the pump and motor for the drain on the thing and unplugged it several times to reset it. Still is giving me F codes.Im done, I tell you! Done! This has been going on since we bought it!
Most of my appliances are Whirlpool - dishwasher, refrigerator, clothed dryer and the Cabrio washer. The washer before this one, I had it for over 10 years and replaced it because of rust (thats another problem with Whirlpool - rust). Now the Cabrio hasnt got all kinds of problems - UL, F1 and jumping. The serviceman asked me for $450 for repair; it included a set of springs for the drum, a new electronic board and a 30-day warranty on parts and labor. Im better off buying a new one (I cant afford at this moment). My wife is scared of the darn thing and refuse to use it so now I have the job of washing and standing guard to make sure the washer doesnt leave the garage. Thank you, Whirlpool - and my refrigerator works fine all rusted.
Our burners broke down just 3 months after having purchased a new Whirlpool stove. Then a week later the oven broke also. I want my money back now. Do not purchase any Whirlpool products. Theyre garbage.
Cabrio Top Washer - Disappointed!! Its selling point was using less water but do they realize that you DO have to use a little water to clean clothes. Leaves residue on every load and where I have to use the extra rinse cycle and that still doesnt work. This product is going on eBay today! Never again Whirlpool.
It goes off balance, frequently. It is moldy and stinky. I wipe it out, use a cleaner and leave the door open, but it still stinks. I am getting rid of it and buying a Speed Queen top loader. I am extremely disappointed in the front loader Whirlpool.
This machine is junk. It does not get clothes clean. I had jeans that I soaked and were fairly clean when I put them into wash and had another pair of jeans with a little dried mud. My whole load came out filthy. I am having to rewash the whole load after hand cleaning the washing machine. I replaced a machine that was 25 years old that did a better job than this piece of junk now sitting on its place.
I purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator in 2014. It is a side by side with ice maker in the door. About 8 month ago the ice machine stopped working. I called an appliance repair center and they diagnosed the problem as being the control board for the ice machine. After only 3 years this stopped working? I gave them to OK to fix it. A few days later I was informed that the part is on backorder for a few months. Well a few months has become 6 months and no part is available. I contacted Whirlpool and they called me and promised a solution, but then they never contacted me again. So it is almost 7 months later and I still have no ice. How can a relatively newer product break down and then not have a part available? Whirlpool absolutely does NOT care about their customers and does NOT back their products. Stay away at all costs.
We purchased our Duet in July 2010. It worked great until two weeks ago when the washer sounded like a 40-year-old washer. The bearing sounds like an extremely high-pitched “wrr”. We can hear it in the back of the house. I looked online to get parts and noticed that you cannot replace the bearing. You must replace the entire rear drum ($358.00). This does not include the labor. I talked with a technician, and they said the whole drum must be removed, not a one-man job, and to take the whole thing apart. Now, theres no price for installation. Lets go low ($200.00). Probably more. I cannot get a price nailed down without a visit. Now add those together ($558.00), I could put almost $600.00 into a washer that this could happen to in another 2 years. Wow.We had a washer that lasted us 15 years without any parts. Is there anything that you can do to help me? This is totally outrageous. Please help. Thank you. This was part of my chat to Whirlpool. Whirlpools response was I understand your problem but cannot help you. It is out of warranty. No help, no discount, nothing. I will and have all my friends never to purchase Whirlpool. This is from a so-called American company. Im very disappointed.
When we bought our side by side fridge (model GD5RVAXVB02), the manual said to clean the condenser coils if you have excess dust and/or pet hair. We have both. We tried with the vacuum and with a brush but it is impossible to get to the coils because they run side to side instead of front to back. You can only get to the first coil in front. The rest cant be accessed from the front, sides or back. I called to find out how Whirlpool recommended they be cleaned and they could only recommend a vacuum attachment tool (8171579A) to clean the floor below the coils or a coil brush (4210463RW) that cant reach the coils! This design is meant to fail prematurely. They could have easily installed the coils running front to back so they could all be easily cleaned.
Everything I have read is what I am going through... First the clothes didnt come clean. Lint piles on everything dark... Then at 1 yr and 7 months old, the drum and spin mechanism breaks. It cost me $333 in labor... Should have cost me nothing as far as Im concerned. 2 weeks later, its putting a code up that the hot and cold lines are crossed. Nope, its the whole computer board. Whirlpool again said they will just pay for parts... piece of crap. I paid for the best... Sure didnt get it.
We purchased a new side by side black finish refrigerator. There is a design flaw in the water/ice dispenser. The bottom of the dispenser has no edge so any drops of water run down the front of the refrigerator! This leaves constant watermarks down the front. 2. The finish scratches very, very easily. I would not recommend this finish to anyone with children or pets. When you open the door if your ring touches the surface it will scratch it! There was NO user manual on care and I used paper towels to clean. Big no no, as now I have fine scratches on the front. I would never buy this product again because of these flaws. I have a 7 month old refrigerator that looks 7 years old and it is just my husband and myself! Love the inside, hate the outside.
The problem started with an error code F3F1 on dryer. Called A & E Factory Service who is company that are certified Whirlpool technicians. They have been out 7 times, March 26, April 1, April 8, April 13, April 27, May 5 and May 12. During those times they ordered and replaced the main control board 3 times and a thermistor for which we paid for parts and labor. The company now says they think we have a lemon and we are supposed to hear back within 48 hours whether we are going to be refunded a total of $504.48 we have advanced for repairs less the service call. They referred us back to Whirlpool and said they would no longer come out as the dryer cannot be repaired! Talked to Whirlpool customer service that says we didnt have an extended warranty and there is nothing they can or will do. This dryer was purchased on 12/31/11. They took the position that because there is no recall for defective parts for this model, there is nothing they will do. Attached is our purchase receipt and all service invoices regarding this matter.
Got the dreaded 4 flashes LED status - High Temperature Shutdown. Online and vendor documentation says that this condition requires gas valve unit replacement, a $115 option. If your Pilot remains burning, but main burner does not kick in, then a good guess is the circuit board requires a reset. Prior to any further work, test the Thermopile, that is the round item with two blades located below and to the right of the gas valve unit. Move knob on control panel to OFF1) Pull out plug with red and white wires located on front of gas control. 2) Have someone Hold in the control knob on the unit at Pilot, and make sure Pilot flame is burning. 3) Using a multi-meter, set it to millivolt reading, and test voltage across the two wires. Voltage should be greater than 350mV, preferably >500mV. 4) If you get a reading in that range, your Thermopile is good. Turn knob to off position. Do NOT uncouple gas lines. 5) Piezo Igniter wire comes apart, disconnect it. 6) Remove screw that holds front cover. (screw located bottom left as you look at the unit) 7)Cover simply pulls off directly towards you. 8)Remove the screw holding the circuit board to the cover, and remove circuit board by unclipping it - 3 clips, one either side and one at bottom. 9) Unplug the 3 strand thermostat cable, you should now have the circuit board clear. 10) Take a piece of aluminum foil, fold it twice, then lay circuit board on it facing up, do it on top of tank, want it grounded. 11)Using one of the multimeter probes, wrap a piece of foil around it, keeping point free, and ground it too. Then slowly work around the board, touching all the solder connections you see, as well as the chip legs. Pay particular attention to the round objects on the board (capacitors), make sure to ground out each of the solder points, visible either side. (takes about 5- 8 minutes, take your time) 12) Once done, reconnect thermostat cable to board, then reinstall board into cover (dont forget the screw)13) Place cover back into place, screw in cover screw, reattach Piezo wire and black electrical plug with thermopile wires. 14) set Knob to Pilot, get pilot lit (may take a few hits on the Piezo button) and while still holding the knob in, watch to see what LED flashes you get (there will be a 10 second time lapse before it will start to flash) 15) You should either get 1 flash or 7 flashes, that means the board is reset, now turn knob to warm, and see if main burner kicks in. Good luck, and for a half hours work you have saved yourself $$$. PS: If it occurs again, you have sediment build up, need to drain the tank.
Tried to do a small 2x3 bathroom rug and the spin was thrown off kilter. I have been doing laundry a long time and I know how to evenly distribute clothes etc so the washer should be able to handle it for the price I paid. The high end front loading Whirlpool set.
I purchased a Whirlpool side-by-side refrigerator from Lowes for $1,100. It arrived missing a shelf. Last year, the warranty expired and the ice maker mysteriously failed. Next a drawer slide failed. Next the lights, both of them, failed. I was offered a service call, the estimate $300+. Next, the ice bucket bottom broke and filled the freezer with cubes. Next another drawer slide failed. Whirlpool makes an over-priced, poorly engineered, poorly made product and Lowes sells their products without any care for their customers. I will do my best to warn anybody who is interested that while Whirlpool used to be a good company, it has degraded into producing junk and trading on a once storied reputation. And Lowes touts these products without any interest in its consumers.
I have not use wash machine for 46 years, however, since I the caregiver for my wife (with Parkinson), Im the user of our washing machine, High Efficiency Whirlpool for 8 months. It Is very easy to use including the dials. It is very efficient to use.
Whirlpool Cabrio Washer and dryer. Bought the Cabrio Washer. Worked great for 26 months. Had to throw it away. Main motherboard went. Not worth fixing. Called Whirlpool. They offered a $340.00 service contract only. Piece of garbage. Do yourself a favor. Do not go by looks. Its junk.
We bought this combo at Lowes and was looking forward to their arrival. Unfortunately, we have had so many problems with both appliances. The washer is constantly having an error and we can only wash clothes on the quick wash cycle or else it will shake like crazy, get an error, and stop. We had the washer a little over a year when we had someone come look at it. We were told there is something wrong with the load sensor and it was going to be $350 to fix it. As for the dryer it will dry for a little bit and completely stop (no error) and restart later on by itself. I have been a devoted Whirlpool customer but not after this. I thought it was only us having these problems but obviously not. They have discontinued this set. No recall... ridiculous.
Bought appliance (Whirlpool French Door Refrigerator Freezer) in 2014. The seal that closes all the brackets with screws and you had to hand guide it to close. Then the freezer got out of alignment and wouldnt close and seal. Ice built up behind drawer which prohibited the opening of freezer drawer. Wouldnt open more than 5 inches on one side and 3 inches on the other. Had service tech out. Cost almost $200. Did not get French doors repaired because the part cost over $125. Less than a year later I have to have a repairman back out for same problem with the freezer door and ice build up. Not happy.
I have Whirlpool Gold washer and dryer and microwave. All handles and grills and trays have broken. What a disappointment ! Their top of the line? We, at this house, will always avoid buying anything from crap pool gold!! Its a disgrace the way they make these things. And the support sucks!
I will be happy to provide exact details soon but wanted to share I have had most of our clothes and household items-sheets, rugs, towels etc. ruined by this machine. And it is under warranty and Lowes in Dallas, Texas where I purchased it has seen the evidence. I rolled in with a suitcase full of different examples of ruined items and some photos. The repair person Whirlpool sent out was nice but not willing to document clothes and said the machine is fine after a few diagnostics digital checks. He did not run a load of clothes! And it takes forever to set up. My wait was over 3 weeks. etc. Lowes has been incredibly wonderful but states the warranty is Whirlpools decision and all Lowes needs is a RA (return authorization from Whirlpool) and Lowes is happy for me to buy whatever ever washer I like and even are willing to give me a discount as they know how horribly Whirlpool has treated me.The manager stayed on speaker phone with me for over an hour. My husband is a lawyer and I will further pursue this situation as Whirlpool hopes I will just drop it by March when my Whirlpool warranty runs out or give up from protocol internal exhaustion. As they have insulted me in every way... Even suggesting I sell the defective machine to someone else... And I said, How in good faith and having a conscience could I do that? Anyway after spending a lifetime it seems trying my best to get this resolved with a cauliflower ear from being on the phone for so many hours with their resolution leaders and specialists etc. It is obvious I am about to have to go on social media and do everything I can to Save others from this time waster, Save their laundry, etc. and Did I mention at times it leaks a little bit of water out the front. As it was the least of my worries as I was showing nice tech my expensive ruined 900.00 ski pants, ruined shirts etc. I think the machine cost around a 1,000 to 1,200 so... Will get back to you for an update. I have a whole file folder on documentation now and it is not about the money or the fact I cannot wash clothes. It is down to principle... On my third top-level resolution leader in MI. -Jim- basically had me read between the lines that I was dealing with a Fortune 500 company and would never win. He is underestimating the level of frustration and lengths I will go to not be taken advantage of as a woman, a career girl, a wife and a yoga teacher. I will be in Yoga warrior mode and this is disheartening as all I want to do is wash my clothes. Did I mention all my Lulu Lemon pants are ruined and I never put them in the dryer! Only delicate cold etc. Have them remain intact etc. really simple here but Whirlpool not standing by their warranties. And my whole home is outfitted with Jen-air, Kitchen-Aid, Maytag etc. which are all owned by the same company so I have been a very loyal customer who possibly just got a lemon. Or standards at the company have severely changed. More later on developments hopefully. Sad in Dallas.
I have a smaller/apartment size fridge. As a 1 person household it is a perfect fit. Works well & wasnt expensive. I am a Foodie, having it so nothing is too warm/cold, all the temps are equal, is a big deal. And in 10 years no breakdowns.
Bought Whirlpool electric range in Dec. 2005..expensive..so the warranty expired a few months ago. The electronic keypad that controls the oven and lights doesnt work. The repairs will be $408 plus tax which is obscene, and are guaranteed only for 90 days. This after only 5 years of minimal use...just me using it.I will never buy whirlpool again.
We purchased this Whirlpool refrigerator at the end of July 2018. At the beginning of November 2019 all the interior lights went out at the same time. We called the store where it was purchased, and they instructed us to call Whirlpool. Because a year had passed, they were not willing to do anything other than put us in touch with someone who could service the refrigerator. We already know the repair will cost over $200. That does not include payment for the service call or the labor. At almost the same time we purchased a new Whirlpool microwave. We have also had problems with that. My advice is to stay away from Whirlpool products if you want something that will last longer than a year.
My husband AND I purchased our Whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer from Lowes in 2011 (Model # WTW7800XW2). About 10 months after I purchased this I noticed a hairline crack on the right side of the frame that holds the glass top near the hinge. I didnt think to much of this. I figured it may have been screwed to tight when manufactured. A few days ago I noticed the lid wasnt sitting flat and saw the crack had gotten much worse. The Cabrio lid is made with a heavy piece of glass inside a plastic frame allowing you to see through the top. Its pretty obvious that the plastic frame is not durable enough to hold the heavy piece of glass.I called Lowes and they told me that because I didnt purchase their extended warranty that I should contact Whirlpool. I called Whirlpool and was told it was a cosmetic defect because the washer still works. They also told me my washer is outside of its warranty so they would schedule someone to fix it but I was 100% responsible for the repair costs (which I found out will be $400). Out of curiosity I googled this issue online and found numerous people complaining about this exact same issue. When I told this to the customer service agent at Whirlpool, she said there werent enough people to recall the product. Why should I spend $400 when it was a design flaw that caused this problem? I found out the year after my washer was made, the lid was redesigned with a much sturdier frame, Coincidence? I think not!I havent had any problems thus far with the dryer but with the experience Ive had with this washer will make me never by another Whirlpool product again. I cant believe they wont stand by their product! Obviously they know this has been a major complaint on this model from 2011 because it was changed the following year. I have purchased many Whirlpool appliances over the years but dealing with this issues has been frustrating. Im so disappointed in Whirlpool and their lack of integrity!
Purchased our Whirlpool Gold Oven in October of 2013 from Best Buy. The oven works fine, but using the oven to make pizza on March 30th of 2014, a fire started in the drawer under the oven. The oven was set at 400 degrees. Several oven mitts were stacked in the drawer. There was no major damage done to the range, other than a bit of discoloration to the white trim, but we will never put anything in the drawer under the oven and would advise others to do the same.
I purchased a #Whirlpool; 4.3 cu. ft. Mini Refrigerator Stainless Steel BC-127B from @Target. There was a delay putting it into service (6 mos), so the Target store warranty was expired. The unit remained in its factory shipped packaging until put in service, so nothing out of the ordinary there. After barely two weeks of use, the compressor died. I followed all instructions (including waiting 8-10 weeks) from Whirlpool, but still have not received a refund or been given any information beyond we escalated it to our warranty team but havent heard back yet. The unit was a poorly made piece of junk in other respects as well. There are dozens of complaints about precisely this - defective units - on any site. Do not be fooled by the dishonest way that #Targets website lists reviews. Dig deeper.
I have hated this Cabrio washer and dryer set since the day they were delivered brand new by Best Buy a couple of years ago. The washer does not clean well, often does not spin dry, and leaves some clothes dry after a full wash cycle!!! I have to wash small loads on the deep water cycle to even have a chance at cleaning the clothes. The clothes are so dreadfully compacted and tangled that it takes great effort to birth them out of the washer, unfurl them, shake them, and put them into the next torture machine- the dryer. It is as if Whirlpool intended to build a machine to twist clothing so tight that it requires a bodybuilder to untangle the clothing. Then the items are so incredibly crumpled that ironing has found its way back into my already busy life. Ironing is a massive challenge to the degree of wrinkles in the clothing. The slanted tops are icing on the cake. Cant even pull the clothes out of the dryer to the top of it because they slide right off. Cool.
We have a Whirlpool with freezer on top, nothing fancy in the apartment we rent. Twice the lines have clogged up with ice, causing the water to pool in the bottom of the fridge and then leak onto the floor. The maintenance man said this was a common problem in the complex with the refrigerators. Tonight, I heard noise coming out of the fridge. It was so loud it scared the cat. I went to check on it and a juice bottle had exploded in the fridge. It cannot keep an appropriate temperature. Things up front are barely cool and things at the back freeze. We are moving and unfortunately, the house we are buying has Whirlpool as well. When it comes time to replacing the refrigerator, it will not be a Whirlpool!
We bought our new Whirlpool Cabrio Washer & Dryer combo from Lowes on the north side of San Antonio, TX, for delivery when our new home was completed in Blanco, TX. Delivery & setup went smoothly. But it wasnt long before we both noticed something wrong with the washer. What was supposed to be one of the quietest washers on the market was far from it! -- loud grinding & thumping noises when the spin cycle would kick in. Whirlpool service dept was called and a repair tech was dispatched - 4 TIMES! The tech from Appliance Science spends most of his time on his phone talking to tech support, and has pretty much changed out parts at will! The motherboard, the pump, the clutch, the splutch have all been changed, to no use!We still experience problems with the washer NOT spinning, or only spinning for a short time, and the clothes still soaking wet! Its a good thing the dryer works well, because the washer is a dud, and we cant do a damn thing about it! Weve been told by Whirlpool service that since we have a repair warranty, we cannot get a replacement washer because we dont have a replacement warranty. Ive never heard something so ridiculous! Color us highly dissatisfied in TX!
I purchased my new Whirlpool Cabrio Top Load washer to replace a Maytag that had finally given out in the summer of 2012. I wish I did more due diligence, but with a toddler and a newborn, I needed a washer asap. I severely regret my $800 purchase from Sears. It is now February 2013 and the machine basically only runs on two cycles - Casual and Normal. All the others stop in mid-cycle. Sometimes, the items are still dry or partially wet so I need to switch to another cycle to complete the wash. This is not good for Delicates or when I wash Whites, Heavy Duty or Bulky items which is one of the reasons I purchased the model. The cycle stops when the items are soaked with massive amounts of water. So I then have to turn it to the Drain cycle and start over. After a day of washing one load, I couldve done it the old-fashioned way in my utility basin sink and hung it out to dry ... I dont have the time for this. I am going to make a formal complaint to Whirlpool and to Sears. I cannot keep spending nearly $1,000 for items that break within a year. These companies should be ashamed of their lack of quality. I shouldve gone with the Electrolux and just dealt with the price tag - I wouldve been much happier.
My gas range doesnt work all that well. Sometimes the flame catches and lights, sometimes it doesnt. Oven seems to be less than steady in cooking. It is ok, but I wouldnt buy again.
Do yourself a favor and do not purchase any Whirlpool gas heater product. There are numerous poor reviews on Whirlpool water heaters. The one I purchased, 50 gallon Whirlpool water heater; I had to replace the control valve three times. After the third time, (the water heater was less than 18 months old) I gave up and purchased another product. Whirlpool would not replace their poor product, but did replace the control valve, each time, which cost $100,00 labor each time. After the water heater was taken out, there were visible leaks on all connections. (A licensed plumber installed it.) Over a period of time, I lost a total of three days work, was w/o hot water three times for two days each issue. I hope I can save the next consumer similar difficulties with this product. Check consumer reports before purchase of this product. There are numerous complaints. Also, local plumbers can advise on how many issues they encounter with this product.
The refrigerator is 7 years old and I have already replace parts. The appliance is not made as well as they were made in the past. The inside of the Whirlpool refrigerator is small. The design of putting the soda can dispenser on the door was not a good one. Due to the weight of of the soda in the dispenser is breaking the hinge on the right door or the french door. The rubber gasket is shredding as well.
I purchased cash for our new house and we notice a couple of times the freezer would start to thaw and the light bulb would freeze up. It has been ok for a while now.
We hate the matching Cabrio washer dryer bought in 2011: Dryer lower blower went out after 18 months in service. The day it went out whirlpool sent me the extended warranty offer. Warranty had expired 6 months prior. I renewed for 12 months and promptly called for a repair. Cost was approximately $450.00, all covered under the newly paid for warranty. I dodged a bullet there. Washer has the splintering fiberglass around the top. Lower bearing is out and sounds like a freight train coming out of the laundry room. Not going to have it repaired. Looking for new units not manufactured by whirlpool. Shameful ROI. No more whirlpool products in our house.
Very sad appliance company. I purchased a Standard Pacific Home in June 30, 2015 and moved in Aug 1, 2015. Use my Whirlpool Dishwasher for the first time back in Oct and it was not working properly. Whirlpool scheduled an appointment with Accord Appliance in Temecula Ca and the company was a no show. Called Whirlpool back and Rep Emma was very rude and had to call supervisor to schedule another appointment to repair dishwasher. Whirlpool have sad employees and sad appliance.
I purchased a washer and dryer from WHirlpool in March of 2019 based on the good word of mouth information I have heard from others. Today I reported to WHirlpool customer service how all my brand new towels were destroyed during the week of 9/8/2019. The towels were purchased on 9/3/2019 and are now unusable due to a defect from the washing machine. I called into the customer service to ask what they can do, they completely refused to cover the cost in any way. Original cost was $448.00.
March 1, 2016 I purchased a new Whirlpool dishwasher model WDF320PADW2. After just over 1 year of use, the unit quit. The pump only runs in the empty direction. It quit in the wash direction. Hums and smokes. This is not acceptable for a appliance to last just one month past warranty then totally quit.
I bought a Whirlpool Dryer after reading an excellent review in Consumer Reports, despite it costing more than I wanted to spend. The first thing I noticed was a thump, thump, thump with every rotation of the drum. Then I realized that it took twice as long to dry my laundry as my 45 yr. old GE dryer, which only needed a belt, but which wasnt available anymore. I was disappointed in the Whirlpools performance, but that was only the beginning. One night when the dryer was less than 3 months old, I was in bed for the night and I heard the familiar thump of the dryer running. I went downstairs and could not stop it as it did not respond to anything on the digital control panel. I finally unplugged it. I called Whirlpool and they sent a new control panel, but I had to pay the service man.Not too long after that, the dryer heated up, but the drum would not turn. The serviceman said that it had come off track and he reset it. Shortly after, the door would not stay closed as the clamp that held it shut had fallen inside when I pushed the door closed. I replaced that. Then the drum continued to come disengaged because it was out-of-round. But, of course, the dryer was out of the 90 day warranty period too and a drum replacement would have cost more than the piece of junk was worth. So, I had it put back on for what I told myself would be the last time. Well, it was the last because the control panel went bonkers again and would go on by itself and only ran on one cycle if I plugged it in and unplugged it when it was done. I finally gave up and bought an inexpensive analog GE dryer which I never had any trouble with and dried the clothes in less time with less noise.
When I purchased my Cabrio washer 31/2 years ago I didnt bother to check reviews since Whirlpool was suppose to be the best of the best. An expensive lesson! A washer that spits out codes?!?! Whos got time for this? We paid 899.00 plus taxes for it, now we paid a repairman 99.00 to tell us its not worth fixing. He said the bearings were completely shot. As he was leaving he said his next service call was for the same type of washer! Whatever happened to appliances that last! Going green is all the rage but yet everything from cars to appliances is built to last only a short while. Judging by these reviews I cant believe Whirlpool didnt recall their garbage!
Our Whirlpool refrigerator breaks down after two weeks of purchase. I purchased a Whirlpool fridge for my son and his wife as a house and new baby gift. Just two weeks later, the fridge was not cooling and seemed to not be working. The technician was called, and he confirmed that the fridge was not working. We called the shop where the fridge was purchased from and advised they would not refund or replace the fridge. We are now forced to wait for a replacement part that could take up to 2 months to arrive. And there is no guarantee this problem will not reoccur with a new part, as per the technician. I called Whirlpool and lodged a complaint, but that went on deaf and ignorant ears. I am told to call the service repairer. I am sure there is a law to protect Australian consumers.I paid nearly $1,000 for a fridge that is useless! I would like Whirlpool to contact me, and tell me why they shouldnt be accountable for their product. I would like to return the faulty fridge, accept a refund and buy another fridge. My family are living out of an Esky, and this is a ridiculous way to refrigerate food stuff for adults and children in the heat of northern Australia. Whirlpool, I am waiting for your call.
My brother bought my 80-year-old mom this range so that she could bake all her delicious desserts with ease in a new beautiful oven. I was at her house visiting and saw that she was down on her hands and knees cleaning her SELF-CLEANING OVEN. She tried several times using the useless AQUALIFT FEATURE but to no avail. In this day and age with self-cleaning technology, WHY would Whirlpool install this unbelievable bad AQUALIFT cleaning feature? To see my poor mother scrubbing the inside of the oven like she did back in the 50s & 60s just completely appalling!! PLUS the top surface enamel is bubbling up with rust and the oven is only 2-3 years old. So we are trying to contact Best Buy to see if we can get a refund on this HORRIBLE appliance.
I purchased all new Whirlpool appliances for my kitchen from Lowes about 5 years ago. The dishwasher was leaking water onto my hardwood floors after about a year. I figured out that the seal was pulling away on the lower left corner. I fixed that myself. It cleaned pretty well for about 3 years. Now its not cleaning at all. I took the lower spray arm off to try to clean it. Almost all of the holes are clogged with debris. (I clean the filter at least once a week.) I went ahead and ordered a new sprayer arm, maybe that will help.As for the rest of the appliances... After about 6 months, the freezer started filling up with water that then froze on the bottom and allowed water to pour onto the floor. The microwave handled broke after about a month. (They did send me a replacement handle.) The knobs on the stove are starting to peel. One of the knobs wont stay on, so I keep it in the drawer next to the stove. Overall, I am very disappointed in all of the appliances. This will be the last time I buy Whirlpool.
I purchased Whirlpool Duet HT front-load washing machine with model #GHW9400PLO. After a year of owning the product, failure codes continued to appear. I have followed the direction under the troubleshooting page which said to cancel and unplug the unit. After doing this over and over, I finally took the top lid off to inspect the problem. A ribbon cable was torn due to the top lid rubbing against the lid and the drum. I called Whirlpool and this was not covered (go figure). I then asked for the ribbon cable and they said they cannot just supply the ribbon cable and that I would have to buy the user interface which is $191 plus a $35 core fee because they re-bill them. What a rip off. A ribbon cable from a computer store would only cost $10.00. After that repair the Micro Machine control went out which is code F11. Code F11 is all over the web because this is a defective part that Whirlpool should do a recall on but why do that when they can charge $310 plus, get this another $35 core charge because they re-bill them? If you are not mechanically inclined with these parts plus labor you could have bought 2 washing machines. But who in the world would buy 2 pieces of junk right?Bottom line is: do your research and buy from a company that will stand behind their product because Whirlpool will not! They know by the number of parts they ship out that that part should be recalled.
Ive had trouble with my washing machine since the end of May 2011. I have had over 5 service/repair calls which still resulted with the same problem. By the way, I do have a warranty on this product (which hasnt seem to have helped at all). I have never had such poor customer service in my life as I have had from Sears and can assure you, I will never buy another product from Sears or Whirlpool considering the experience I have had. I have missed numerous days at work only to wait for a repair appointment that never happened. Needless to say, I am very disappointed and would not recommend anyone to buy from Sears or Whirlpool.
Whirlpool Water Heater FG1F4040S3NOV - I had this water heater installed in 2005 by a professional plumber and every year since like clockwork, I have to replace the gas control valve/thermostat. Last year, Sears came and did the work and made their arrangements to have the part replaced. This year 2012, March 9 my gas control valve went again. The unit is not even a year old and broke again. Unfortunately, the six-year warranty is up on the hot water tank. I called Whirlpool two times. The first time, the guy told me that the warranty was up and hung up on me! The second time, the guy would not honor the replacing of a part that is not even a year old yet. The money I spent over the six years making repair on it, I could have bought a new one. This company is nothing but a bunch of **. Is there anything that I can do? I have paid to replace this five years in a row.
I am old school & do not like the idea that I cannot open my machine without waiting until it slows to a stop before door will unlock. You do not know what level your water is unless opening door. You are not able to open door & see if you need more detergent. Water softener is the same -- do I need more/less, cant tell. But, the washer performs well & clothes are clean, even dirty jeans/work clothes.
In June 2010 my wife and I bought a new Whirlpool water heater (model ee2h50rd045v). As I have fairly extensive experience in both the electrical and plumbing areas (was head lab technician for an aquatics lab for 7 years and worked with maintenance on a farm for 10 years), I installed the unit myself. Two months later the motherboard fried. Whirlpool sent me a replacement and all was fine. Six months after this the motherboard fried and set the unit on fire. Luckily I was home and caught it before it got out of hand and the circuit breaker had tripped when this happened (the circuit breaker saved the house). After I had ripped the smoldering unit out of the garage I immediately called Whirlpools Customer Hotline and told them what happened. They said they would send me replacement parts. I reminded them that the motherboard had fried once before and that this time the unit had almost cost me the house. I also informed them that I have now worked for Lowes for 4 years and I am responsible for selling their product (in addition to other brands). The lady stated all they could do was send me new parts and the problem probably was with my circuit breaker. I informed her the circuit breaker was tripped so the problem was not there. She reiterated that all they could do was send new parts. The next day I started to remove the control panel and motherboard to find that the plastic had fused itself to the frame and insulation. I called the customer hotline and spoke to someone new and informed them about the new problem with the melted plastic. I was told that the melted plastic could be scrapped off safely and that since the problem was not the circuit breaker, the problem must have been how the wires had been spliced from my conduit into the water heater. The gentleman then proceeded to tell me how to do it in violation of Maryland code and told me he would have replacement parts sent to me. I checked with a certified electrician to make sure my wire splice had been done in accordance with code and he verified I was correct.I then had a Department Manager call Whirlpool. He was given the same runaround and told the parts would be mailed to me. He was also given the story about how the malfunction was due to the wire splice being too tight. He then asked to speak to the representatives supervisor and she told him she would not transfer him over to her supervisor. I have forgotten to mention that 2 months prior to this, a Whirlpool water heater (same model) had been returned to my Lowes store within the 30-day purchase window. The unit had caught fire. Since I had had problems with my unit motherboard at this point, I took that unit apart to see what had caused it. The problem started with the motherboard in that unit also. This is unacceptable. Whirlpool obviously has product quality issues.Sometimes bad units are put out. This happens with every brand. But when the same model has such a high failure rate and is known to catch fire, Whirlpools actions are inexcusable. Currently my refrigerator, oven, dishwasher and obviously the water heater are Whirlpools. I will not replace either of these units with a Whirlpool when they reach the end of their operational periods. Also in the future when customers ask me about Whirlpool appliances, I will be sure to tell them just how great Whirlpool is, how reliable they are, how great their customer service is and then quickly usher them over to Samsung, Frigidaire and Electrolux appliances. The department manager that had called Whirlpool for me has shared similar sentiments about future customer recommendations.
We bought a duet set front loader washer and dryer on 3/14/2010 and our washer already needs new bearing and costs about as much as a new washer. I think that is pretty bad when you can’t get two years out of a product and then can’t get anyone to help unless you want to pay out. I will not buy another Whirlpool product! Done!
I purchased two Whirlpool refrigerators 9 years ago and this year, 2018, both of them died. Bad compressors that cost up to $700 to replace. Repair folks would not guarantee them as there could also be other issues, like leaks in the internal parts of the refrigerator. I have a 20 year old frig (Kenmore) in my garage than runs great, no repairs and is in a non heated area. My conclusion is that that Whirpool reduced cost by making cheap products.
Chris from Whirlpool contacted me the same day that I filed my complaint. He offered to replace our water heater at no charge. We will pick up our new water heater this weekend and install it. Hopefully, it is designed better than our current water heater.
I have had this range for approximately 4-5 years with no problems. The design and efficiency are great!! I would recommend this brand to anyone and would purchase it again myself. It has an extra burner just for warming which I love.
Whirlpool Washing machine Model WTW4800XQ1 - This machine ran fine for the first 6 months, even though my old machine took 40 minutes for a large load and this one takes an hour. Then, I had to call the repairman out and he said it was the fill valve. He didnt have one on the truck and said he should get it in within 3-5 days. Well a month later, I had to call Lowes again to find out what the problem was. They had him back out with the part within 2 days. Then, I had to call again. This time the repairman ran a test and found a bad spin motor, he had the part on truck. Third time to call and the machine is back to not spinning out properly. My old machine lasted over 14 years. Whats wrong with these new ones?
We purchased a 4.8 Cu FT High Efficiency Front Load Washer in February of 2016. What a nightmare. Just a few months after having it, we kept getting an E3 error message that would not go away. After 2 weeks of waiting before a tech could come out there replaced a door mechanism said it would be fine. After the next wash same thing, same problem. Could not even open the door to get my laundry out. Again they could not get a tech out for at least 2 weeks so Im stuck with the cost of getting my laundry done elsewhere. This time it was the motherboard. Had to wait a week for that to be shipped out. This was all completed in June 2016. We are now the beginning of September and same problem. Again we are told at least 1-2 weeks to get a tech out. Seriously Whirlpool, we are your customer. I have a family and we need to wash our clothes. We spent $1200 on this machine only to have to take our laundry to a public laundry mat because your machine keeps breaking down. They will not replace the machine even though this is the 3rd time with the same problem. The customer service is horrible. They are not willing to help in any way to get this fixed much sooner for her or give us a new machine. This one is obviously a lemon! I will never purchase any Whirlpool appliance again and I suggest based on some of the reviews on here no one does. Next appliance I buy I will do more research for sure.
Purchased a Whirlpool Dishwasher in 2017 as part of a kitchen remodel. I have always had General Electric appliances, and shouldve never changed my brand. I had to have this dishwasher fixed a month after purchase (this shouldve been a clue that this was a lemon). Fast forward to two years, I know have to turn the power off to the dishwasher after 3 uses otherwise it stops running mid cycle and the re-set lights blinks. Ive had a repair person take the thing apart to try and find the problem (at the cost of $250) with no luck. The repair person contacted Whirlpool to see if they could help troubleshoot, the response he received was because it was no longer under warranty they wouldnt even answer his questions, hows that for customer service????
Hot water heater goes out. Try to relight it as instructed. Pilot light goes out as soon as I release pressure. Call tech support. After a 10min hold time, I was instructed to rest unit, wait 10 to 15 min and try again. Did not work. Called back and was told it was the thermopile. Had it shipped and replaced at $45.00. Still did not work. Was instructed to go thru the same process of lighting it, still did not work. Then I was given a ref# and was told that my PARTS was warranty and not labor. Okay now one time I was told I WILL BE CHARGED WITH A DIAGNOSTIC FEE OF $99.00 and still no hot water. Next step LAWYER.
Warning to anyone considering this washing machine. It has actually destroyed some of my clothing by twisting and tying legs and arms of pants and shirts tightly together and giving the clothes a beating rather than a reasonably careful washing. Rubbing your clothes on a rock at the bank of some river would be preferable to using this machine. It does not provide enough water to wash clothing without abusing it. I blame myself for assuming that no company would attempt to put a product that performed like this on the market. I bought this machine at hhgregg.
We purchased a brand new Whirlpool refrigerator in December 2012. It is model # WRF989BAM, a French door style with the freezer in the bottom. We have had problems with this refrigerator since a few days after it arrived. The first occurrence was when we arrived home one evening to find water all over the floor, and food thawing out inside the freezer. Everything had to be thrown out or placed in a different refrigerator. I have no idea what that repairman did, but luckily that issue hasnt happened since. Something about the temperature controls. We have also had frost on the back inside panel, and it leaks inside the refrigerator constantly, so bad that we have to keep a large bowl inside to collect the water, and it has to be emptied two or three times a day. We have had two repairmen out to look at that. The first one installed a new filter, which seemed to fix the problem...for about a month until it started leaking again. They tell us these filters must be replaced every 3-6 months...interesting as it says on the refrigerator every 6 months. Regardless, we cant get a filter, or any other parts that the repairmen think it might need because parts take months to arrive. We bought this refrigerator under the recommendation of a technician who came out to repair the refrigerator we were replacing. Buy American he said. They last longer and the parts are easy to get. What a joke!
Model #RF262LXSQ Serial #RT2031953 - I purchased this appliance from Lowes approximately 6 years ago. Last week, I was heating soup and about 5 minutes after I placed the pot on the stove on medium, I heard a large pop and then several cracking noises. When I entered my kitchen, I found the burner flaming red, and when I tried to remove the pot, it was stuck. I immediately turned the burner off and after a few minutes, when it began to cool, was able to remove the pot. What I found was the glass top had melted and blistered and was cracked from front to the back of the stove. Although Lowes was not able to help me, they suggested that I contact you as they had never heard of this happening before. Not only am I dissatisfied that a stove should last many years past this purchase, I am inconvenienced until another stove can be delivered. I believe this to be a factory malfunction of the stove and request a credit for my purchase.
The Whirlpool repairman left today after replacing the burned out motor on my 5 yr old dishwasher bought in Feb 2012 and installed July 2012 as did not arrive from Quebec to Surrey BC until the end of June 2012. So the Finish dishwasher detergent was in the dishwasher as samples and coupons and recommended this Finish for use in the new dishwasher so I stupidly believed them and used it. Well last week my dishwasher stopped working after it started and turns out today the cause was from the Finish dishwasher detergent. I was told today after paying 393 dollars for the repairs. Not to use Finish anymore or I will have the same problem. To only use Cascade. So what is a person suppose to believe.
I just bought my stove four years ago. Every time I want to bake something, I have to run a fan on my stove because it overheats and shows an F2 error message. I then have to unplug it, leave it unplugged for 20 or so minutes. Once it cools down, I can plug it back in and use it. I have to go through this every time I use the oven. Its annoying and I lose a lot of food because sometimes, it just wont work. Idk what to do!
I received this Email from the Whirlpool Director of Consumer Care to evaluate my experience with their customer service department. I filled out the survey over a week ago including a complete documentation of my problems and have not even received an acknowledgment of the survey or promise to look into my problems. In the last 7 months I have experienced problems with 2 Whirlpool major appliances which both appear to be unrepairable and which have been unsuccessfully brought to the attention of your customer support group. In March a fridge and in October a clothes washer. Both were high end products roughly 3 to 4 years old. I did not have an extended warranty with the fridge so I dealt directly with the customer support group. However I was covered by warranty with the washer and your distributor Bad Boy have been making the calls on my behalf but have been just as disappointed to date as I was. Both cases were very similar. In both cases the repairman came out within a few days and promised to return the following week with the broken part but I have never heard from either one of them EVER. In the case of the fridge I was told to defrost it the day before the promised repair date and lost all the food $$$. At this stage a number of calls went out from me to Whirlpool for the fridge and from Bad Boy for the washer and eventually we both got a new delivery date of roughly one month. Both times the date passed with no shows and no call backs. Repeated calls later to the customer service group, with promises of EXPEDITING the delivery, the fridge part delivery date was extended to 3 months so we had no choice but to buy a new fridge. As for the washer, Bad Boy even had an unsuccessful face to face meeting with your representatives and we have had no word back or expected delivery dates well into the third month.I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO? I have made so many calls with so few call backs and no clue what to expect or when? Your representatives use the word expedite with no idea what the word means. At the suggestion of one of your representatives I even called one of your distributors Sears to see if they had the part. Their Canadian head office is in the Philippines and they said they had the same problem with Whirlpool. Twice I tried to talk with your representatives supervisor and both times were unsuccessful. In a world of computers where it should take seconds to find inventory parts and expediting packages usually refers to next day delivery, the fact Whirlpool requires months is unbelievable. The only explanations I can come up with is 1- You dont make parts for your appliances. 2- New appliances are made so poorly all parts are gone. 3- You could not care less about your customers. 4- You dont own a computer. Most of our appliances are Whirlpool because we thought you had a good reputation. We had to purchase a new fridge and still have had no word on the washer?
Extremely disappointed in Whirlpool oven! Built new home and this was recommendation by BAC Appliance. The oven does not self-clean well at all, and my spills are minimal. Deposits between glass doors that cant be removed. Oven is barely cleaner than before I cleaned for full cycle. Oven suddenly shuts off for a short while and then restarts. Steam comes when using lower oven and removes finish on upper oven. I expected Whirlpool to have a quality product. Definitely not! BAC really had no answers for me.
A reliable machine at a very really good price. A nonsense machine that does a very good job at cleaning our clothes. Has a good number of features that make washing different materials easy and safe for their fabric types.
Over the course of the 9 years that I had this hot water heater, I had to have the smart control box on top of the water heater replaced 3 times for burning up. The wires in the smart control box literally burned up and melted together. I am thankful that I was home each time it occurred, because if I had been at work when it burned up and not able to shut off breaker to it, as I did every time this happened, my home may have burned down because of it. I did just get Whirlpool to replace this hot water heater with a brand new one. However I have now paid installation costs twice. Thats not right. I had to pay a plumbing company $725.00 today to just install this new one. I bought the highest priced hot water heater that was also considered top of the line 9 years ago. I did this because Whirlpool is a reputable company and it came with a lifetime warranty. This doesnt make me happy and satisfied though when I have had to pay to have it installed twice. The installation costs more than the price of the brand new hot water heater! I also called around and did my homework first. The company that installed it was actually the lowest price of all of them.
Amongst all other items listed in these reviews (especially the tangling and twisting of clothes literally into knots), my guess is that is one way to ensure they are drier when they come out, wring them into knots... So now the pizza is slinging grease/oil all over the floor and water is leaking out from the bottom as well to make a perfect conglomeration of ** all over my tile. There is always more than one way to take care of the employees, hire sales people full of **, and technicians who know what the hell to do to fix it, with previous full of ** sales experience so consumers can buy more Whirlpool parts...
Four years ago, we remodeled our kitchen and purchased the Whirlpool Quiet Partner II dishwasher, with a one-year service warranty. To be fair, we have not had a problem with the operation of the dishwasher, but rather, the quality of the dishwasher. Within the first two years, the front panel of the dishwasher started turning brown and rusting through from the steam escaping the dishwasher. The labels on the operating buttons have peeled off, again, from the heat of the dishwasher. The upright spokes on bottom tray, that hold dishes and etc. in place, started rusting through and breaking off. Guides which allow top drawer to slide in and out and hold drawer in place, have weakened, so drawer is constantly dropping or sagging.I have had other dishwashers that have certainly lasted more than four years but was encouraged by a Home Depot salesman that this was a great machine for the price! I should have paid closer attention to that for the price part. In any event, I called Whirlpools customer service department, believing that in this day and age, SOMETHING could be done to help with these issues and was told, quite succinctly, that there was nothing Whirlpool could do. I asked about standing by the integrity of their product and got no response to that either.I am an associate with American Girl, a company that stands by the quality of its product FOR LIFE. To be told by a customer service rep from a much larger company, that there was nothing they could do to help me, completely blew me away. I have taken pictures that are pretty indicative of the quality of this dishwasher and will be going online to warn other consumers against purchasing Whirlpool products.
Was weary due to not a name associated with furnaces, but we installed a 100,000 Btu unit 2 stage and have not had any issues thus far.
Bought a built in oven August 30, 2018. Oven stopped heating two weeks before Thanksgiving. Repairman fixed it. It is not working again, two weeks later. Bought from Best Buy. They will not take it back. Whirlpool will not replace it. UGH!!! $ 1,600 down the drain. Will no one help?
I have purchased 2 Ikea/Whirlpool ovens in 2011 from Ikea in Canada. I have used the self clean feature on both ovens and both ovens quit completely and the doors stayed locked. This problem is discussed hundreds of times on the internet for Whirlpool, Ikea and Kitchen Aid ovens. Since they are all made by Whirlpool they are all very similar or exactly the same in some cases, as is the problem. I have discussed this with Ikea and they have said they didnt know about the problem but would help to get it fixed to my satisfaction. I have had Whirlpool authorized service repair both ovens but after trying the self clean feature again, same problem.During one of my conversations with an Ikea representative on the phone, she contacted Whirlpool and was told that if the oven was repaired 3 times and deemed by the service technician as unrepairable, Whirlpool would do a buyback. In other words according to Ikea, Whirlpool would take the oven and pay me what I paid for the oven. Well after contacting the authorized service dept (not Whirlpool itself) for the third time, they did some investigation with Whirlpool about the problem. To his and my amazement, Whirlpool has come up with a fix as of October 2013. The technician ordered the new kit and installed it in both ovens. I have since tried the self clean in one oven and this time it worked. For the information of others, Whirlpool has the kit and in it is an instruction sheet with pictures as to how to replace and install all the parts in the kit.I watched the installation, quite a process. From the instruction sheet there is a number on it. Here is the number - w10625529 rev. A 10/13. This is an instruction sheet for Ikea TOD (thermal overload device) service kit. I have looked at many of the service parts diagrams on the internet for many different current models of Ikea, Whirlpool and Kitchen Aid ovens and in most cases almost all the inside parts are the same or very very similar which leads me to the conclusion that this service kit may work in most of these ovens to correct the same problem, but I suggest checking with the appropriate service people before taking my word for it. My observation is that the kit moves the TOD off the top of the metal plate of the oven and onto a new bracket which the tech thought it was to get it further away from heat (this Im not sure of since Im not an expert). He also suggested that this kit may also be designed to allow more air flow around the oven.My only concern after having the self clean feature finally work is the heat produced inside the kitchen cabinet in which the oven is installed. Approximately an hour and a half after turning the self clean on, I felt the side of the cabinet between it and the fridge (open space), and at one area of the wood cabinet I could not hold my hand on the cabinet as it was too very hot. I will be checking the inside of the cabinet for signs of excess heat and if I see any evidence, I will again call the service people. Since the elements were not on when I checked this, I assume the self clean had finished the heat cycle and was in the process of cooling down. When I test the other oven, I will make sure the elements are still on as I can see them thru the glass door. When I checked the temperature of the outside wood cabinet using a laser thermometer, the outside wood registered 64 degrees C or 142 F approximately. Not sure what the inside temperature was as the oven was still in place. Hopefully I will not get a higher reading when the self clean is at its maximum temperature in the cleaning cycle. Will the oven create any problems in the future for the cabinet, I hope not but time will tell. For clarification, the cabinets were built by a kitchen cabinet company using the instruction sheet that came with the ovens. I hope some of this will be of help to some of the hundreds of people who have posted this very same problem on the internet. When you have paid for an appliance you wanted because of the features it came with, it should provide you with what you paid for and not constantly break down. Im lucky as they came with a 5-year warranty so it hasnt cost me anything yet and hopefully wont in the future. Good luck to all in getting this resolved for all of you.
I purchased this Whirlpool Aqualift oven at now bankrupt HH Gregg so my recourse is limited. I loved the look of the slide in range and the salesman raved about the quality of this appliance. First the ceramic top is a nightmare to keep clean, not mentioned at purchase. The Aqualift feature is totally useless. I use my oven on a very limited basis. Putting water in the bottom of oven does absolutely nothing to clean oven and even less on sides and oven door. I spent a substantial amount of money on this so called self clean oven and I am so disappointed in results. It does not get off even a minimum of spots, I would hate to have something actually spill over. Aqualift does not work and then you are advised to not use anything else to clean it, so what now?
I am not satisfied with your customer service, as my microwave is not working from last 4 or 5 months but no one cares for it. I did complain again and again but your engineers do not have the skill to solve customers problem, then why you say that you are a number 1 company in the world. From my point of view if someone will ask me for you to provide service, I will never recommend you.
We bought the dishwasher as part of our major kitchen remodel. After 1 year, 10 months of successful operation, the wash motor failed. We are now faced with paying about 1/3 of the cost of a new unit, after less than 2 years. I dont expect new appliances to last forever, but less than 2 years is ridiculous. I would definitely not recommend this product to anyone.
Since buying a Whirlpool Cabrio washer about 3 years ago have had several breakdowns. Within 6 months the computer completely failed. Since then it failed again. About every six months it costs me around $125 to get it running. The thing is a piece of junk. If the load is slightly unbalanced it just shuts down during the spin cycle. The old Maytag we had ran for over 25 years with the belt replaced once. No other problems. Will not buy another Whirlpool again.
I purchased this range/electric (ygfe461lvq0) two years ago. It worked fine, but once about a year ago, the oven overheated and the breaker had to be turned off to stop it. No error codes were displayed. Year two, the oven broiler element stays on regardless if using bake or broil. Oven will go into runaway mode and breaker or cancel button has to be pushed to stop it from over heating. This range is a fire hazard and should be recalled regardless of what age it is. I called Whirlpool at Sears which recommended a tech who arrived to tell me that the control board is shot and for a price of around $400.00, it could be replaced. What is up with that? I had to pay for the expensive tech, also for 15 minutes of work. Sears says that I should have taken the extended warranty plan for around $160. Do I have to pay for an extended plan to have my house burned down due to a defect in manufacturing from Whirlpool? This is disgusting that a company can get away with crap like this. How do you people sleep at night?
I would not, at this time, even really give this product 1 star, but that was the lowest rating allowable. We purchased a Whirlpool Gold French Door Refrigerator at Lowes a couple of years ago after our Amana was toasted by a close proximity lightning strike. (It got more than just our frig, but the replacement frig is the only item we have had issues with.) We even got the extended warranty thru Lowes for the unit. Shortly after the extended warranty expired we started having issues with the bottom freezer door icing up. We thought that possibly the grandkids had not shut the freezer. So we cleaned up the ice around the door, but the problem persisted. The ice cream in the freezer was rock solid, to get it out of the container you had to put it in the microwave for a couple of minutes. The items in the frig were also frozen. So we emptied the frig and freezer, unplugged the unit and let it sit for a couple of days with the doors all open. We then plugged it back in and hoped for the best. It seemed to be ok for a couple of days then the ice on the freezer door appeared again. At this point, I contacted Whirlpool to see who was a licensed repair company in our area. I contacted the licensed repair service, explained my issue, they got the model and serial number info and ordered what parts could conceivably be the culprits. The tech came, the unit was frozen up, all the vents in the freezer were showing icing. So he removed the back of the freezer compartment and thawed the unit out. At the same time I mentioned that the ice maker had quit working, he found that the wiring connection was not properly connected and fixed that while he had all the stuff out. After re-assembly he ran all the diagnostic tests Whirlpool lists and found everything passed. Since the boxes of parts had not been opened they could all be returned to stock. So no charge for parts, as he could not find indication that any were needed. So 1 service call at $100 and it appeared that maybe the issue was resolved, not the case. Not even a month later, issue re-occurred. No grandkids had been there, no instance of the freezer possibly left ajar. Another service call, and by the time the tech arrived, since I had unplugged the unit and emptied it again, all the frost/ice was melted. $100 for a service call, tests all came back as nothing indicated as not functioning. So if I dont put too much stuff in the freezer or too much stuff in the frig it will run without freezing up for about a month. Oh and weekly put it into the defrost mode a couple of times. Now it has started making a tic-tic-tic or rat-tat-tat sound to the fun and games. If the noise is non-stop, it only stops when you open the freezer door. Leading me to believe it is a fan. (Correct, I was told by the local Whirlpool licensed repair facility.) I have spent the weekend, again thawing out my unit in hopes that the noise will cease. It is loud enough to be heard at the other end of the house. No such luck, so I spent an unproductive 1-1/2 hours on a call to Whirlpool yesterday. The larger part of the time was on hold waiting to talk with someone, anyone. Due to our unusually high call volume, wait-time is long today. Thank you for your patience. To retain your place in line, do not hang up. Finally, I got a rep named Karen, who sounded like she was almost asleep. She had very little to offer except, Im sorry you are experiencing these problems. I have no record of previous complaints like yours on record for this model of our product.Hello, I found 929 reports of the same issue on Consumer Reports. Oh, you cant believe what you read on the internet was her response to that tidbit. She offered to sell me a Repair Plus 1 Plan for only $359.95. A licensed repair service comes, repairs your unit and the plan gives you ONE YEAR of peace of mind. Lets see... I said... so you are offering me an extended one year warranty? Oh, but it comes with a repair first then one-year peace of mind. Seems that Whirlpool has moved into selling warranty extensions rather than fixing the issues with these Whirlpool Gold French Door refrigerators. With what I have already paid for service calls added to this Repair plus 1 Plan, I would have invested $$$ enough to BUY A NEW FRIG that is not a Whirlpool product.Seems a bit foolish to me. So Whirlpool is not admitting that there is a design or manufacturing problem with these units. Even the ones sold just this year seem to have the same issue. They have not corrected this and it appears they have no intent to do anything about it. She did indicate that they had a known issue with the drain and that a fix was offered for that (a redesigned drain unit could be installed). But since I was not getting ice build up on the bottom of my freezer compartment I did not appear to need the redesigned drain unit. Her evaluation of my issue was that the drain did not appear to be a problem. So after a fruitless call to Whirlpool, oh and they did have my previous emails concerning my issues on file but did not consider my complaints to be part of a known issue, I have the local tech coming back to see if possibly there is something, anything to be done with this refrigerator. So another $100 at least, likely no resolution if the service tests all come up normal again! So when the tech comes, I am going to ask him to contact the service engineer that he is supposed to have the contact info for (per Karen at Whirlpool) and see if he can get any resolution to my issues by using that service engineer.
We purchased the Whirlpool Duet (front loader) washer and dryer in 2005 from Best Buy. We had many problems with the washer leaking around the front door. After several visits, Best Buy (in 2007) said we could pick out a new washer. We picked out the Whirlpool Cabrio. About 2 years later the mother board had to be replaced on the Cabrio. We are constantly getting F codes and have to unplug the washer several times for it to reset. It also sounds like a plane getting ready to take off and from what I read that repair is very costly. It has been leaking as well. I contacted Whirlpool today and they informed me that there was no recall on the machine and when I told them that there were many complaints for the same issues online, they said they do not base their recalls on blogs and to fix the problem, I would have to incur the cost. This machine is the biggest piece of junk that I have ever owned. I will be sure not purchase a Whirlpool in the future!
Purchased a Side By Side refrigerator just 16 months back and this is the Third time the ice maker has failed. Who makes JUNK like this?? Is there not One company that can make anything to last at least three years. I am disgusted with the junk we bought that has Whirlpool on it. I should Sue Home Depot and Whirlpool for Fraud.
We brought this in Jun 2015, within 1 weeks it developed its problems. Ive had service men out 10 times for ice buildup on the freezer side, and the refrigerator side not cold even on max setting, and the problem hasnt been solved yet.
Easter is in five days. Our dishwasher purchased in December 2014 is not working. It has been broken since December 2015. Repairmen have been here THREE times. We were told that our warranty only covers parts and repair. Our dishwasher does not wash dishes. We went for a more expensive model and it didnt last a year. Whirlpool, remember your commercial?
We purchase a washer and dryer from Lowes in 2012 and a couple months ago I begin to notice that the Clorox and the softener draining spout is not working. The Clorox side is full of water, and the softener half of the time dont even drain all the way and not happy with that. The washer is beginning to rust on the inside by the dispensers, the lid area and the outside panels. I should have purchase GE. I would not recommend this brand to anyone.
Rust started forming early on our washer and spread quickly. Our house is air conditioned and not near the ocean. There was no reason for the rust. Poor quality finishing is the only explanation. When I called to complain I got nowhere. I wish I could show a photo on this website. It would dissuade anyone from ever buying a whirlpool.
Bought a French door whirlpool gold, wanted a good long lasting fridge. Bought in late 2011. After having it a couple of weeks we noticed the ice maker would take days to make ice. So we called to have it looked at. The repairman said if it is slow, switch it to fast ice. It made ice even slower, but the repair company said if it is making ice, and he comes out, we would be charged. So we lived with it. In 2014 it stopped making ice at all. We called they sent someone out and said it was a control board. They had to order it, and came back a week later to put it in. They left and said we would have ice soon. Never did!!!So we call again, they come out and said no power to ice maker. He called Whirlpool and they said wires in the freezer door were worn and broke. Well the door is non-serviceable and the cost of the door will exceed the price of the fridge! What kind of crap is that!! Long story short I will never buy another whirlpool again, and when I hear of someone buying new appliances I warn them to stay away from whirlpool!!! Run!!!
I moved down to Florida in March of this year. I have always owned Whirlpool appliances and wouldnt think of buying another brand...... till now. I purchased in March a new washer and dryer set washer model #WTW4800XQ4. The washer is so noisy that I cant watch TV while its running (what a piece of junk). I asked when they installed it if there was something wrong with it and the gentleman from H&H Gregg said no, they all sound like that. I guess if you want quality you have to buy Japanese.... HOW SAD.
Updated on 07/09/2020: This fridge freezes produce. A part was replace to solve this problem but it has never worked properly. After several attempts to correct temperature fluctuation, Whirlpool decided it was working within their specs and advised us to set the temp higher to solve the problem. So we are doing that but now if the temp is too high the ice is watery and falls out of the ice compartment when we have finished using the ice dispenser. So we lower the temp and it again freezes the produce. Do NOT buy a Whirlpool!!! If you have any questions look at whirlfreezefood story...Original Review: Purchased September 2019. Worked for a couple weeks and then Freezes the produce. I have put it in the center drawer and in the main fridge still freezes. Go to ** for full story and recording of a message Whirlpool left me.
Reading the many reviews of malfunctioning washers and other appliances, I wonder why organizations like Consumer Affairs and Consumer Reports do NOT help the many cheated customers form a class action lawsuit or boycott or some other means to effectively organize and force manufacturers to return the full cost of purchase, taxes, shipping, moving and repairs for 5 years for every product. The manufacturer have NO consequences for selling shoddy, malfunctioning but terribly expensive products. We are all being taken for fools by the corporations.I was stupidly brand loyal and bought a Whirlpool Duet front-load washer and dryer because we had to leave our perfectly good 28-yr-old Whirlpool washer when we sold our house. The first set of instruction is to pull the electric cord from a small hole in the back of the washer. No amount of pulling would budge the cord. Finally yanked with all my strength, heard a snapping sound and 12 of cord came out. Then no more pulling, yanking or tugging would produce another inch of cord. So I took off the top of the machine and found the cord tightly wedged in the fork of a plastic thing that looked like part of a stabilizer for the drum.A similar plastic thing on the other side was broken at the fork, the snapping sound I heard. Freed the cord with lots of effort, but it was still firmly stuck way down inside. Removed the back of the machine, found the cord stuck inside a circular thing with one tiny opening. Took lots of time and effort to free the cord from that, but it was still stuck. Finally managed to reach the plug, which was firmly anchored to the bottom of the frame with an orange lanyard. Cut the lanyard with a knife to finally free the cord. This had to be an act of sabotage by an assembly worker, as no way could the cord accidentally jam itself into 3 different places too small for the cord to slip in, and it certainly didnt tie itself to the bottom of the frame with a lanyard. The hour it took to free the cord was just the start of troubles with this machine. It did start and kind of tumbled clothes in an odd fashion, but when it went into spin cycle, it literally jumped all around the room, almost jumping out the door. The whole house shook and I feared the floor would collapse. That machine must weigh well over 100 lbs. even without water and clothes. Next load I tried delicate cycle which had a slow spin cycle.Same result, even worse. I had to wedge my body in the 10 space between washer and dryer and press down with all my 170 lbs. to keep the machine from doing serious damage to the dryer, walls and floor. I contacted seller, Lowes, and they said call Whirlpool. So I did, but no response. Before buying that machine, I read many horrible reviews of Whirlpool Duet machines, but I have only owned 2 washers since 1967, both Whirlpools, so I had strong but stupid brand loyalty.
Ive read a lot of reviews on here for Whirlpool Cabrio Washer and Dryer saying horrible things and maybe I lucked out? We got our set at Lowes a couple of years ago and havent had issues. We use Gain HE liquid detergent in the washer and have no problems. We also do the recommended routine cleanings of the machine as the manual says. I pick the settings for what we have, clothing wise, and it washes appropriately and things are clean, no marks or other things people have mentioned. I will click on extra rinse and adjust the soil level if something is particularly yucky. The dryer is great as well as long as you select the proper type of wash you have going on. I tend to do more dry setting and things never come out wrinkled. Sorry for all those who have had bad experiences. Also, others have complained about the noise...our old machine had an agitator and was very loud. Our machines are in a closed room and most of the time we dont hear a thing until the bell rings. Maybe wed hear more if they were in an open area or garage where noise echoes?
Model # WRF990SLAM00 Ser# K23919328 - It should be possible to rate this piece of junk zero stars!! Purchased on Feb 2013, it is driving me and my wife insane. It is noisy compressor wise all the time (Our kitchen and living room in the townhouse are one room). The problems started after the hurricane in 2016 killed our power for three days. I had to shut the refrigerator down to manually defrost the freezer section because the fan on the fan-coil was hitting a huge accumulation of ice. Then the weird blackouts started approx once per month where the panel light as well as the interior lights went on and off every minute with that dreadful BEEP. This went on for over 24 hrs and made living in the same room HELL. The beep and three clicks happen every minute and the cooling is none. Whirlpool service came ($80.00) just to look at it and will come back with the rest of the bill which probably will be astronomical. I feel cheated big time!! Minute and the cooling has worsened big time. Whirlpool service came ($ 80.00) just to look at it and stated it needs a new computer board as well as a new front panel on the left door.
My Whirlpool refrigerator/freezer stopped cooling just after a year. I had to buy a $319 warranty. It was fixed, but broke several months later. The repairman said he would try to stop the leak and it worked for a couple more months. The refrigerator was obviously irreparable and we should have had it replaced by Whirlpool at this point. Now, that it broke again (stopped cooling and freezing) the repair service is giving us the runaround. Its over a week and they wanted us to call a repair service and they would reimburse them. The repair service and Whirlwind know about this problem, but refuse to acknowledge it and are getting away with it. With all the comments Im reading here, there should definitely be a recall. Id like to know what it takes to have one authorized.
Help? WP Gold double convection wall ovens WOD93EC0AS rated very high by Consumer Reports installed end of February. Monday April 6, fan in top convection oven came on suddenly while oven not on. When I tried setting a baking temperature in top oven to see what was going on, message read This function is not available. After about 15 minutes the fan went off, and I could use the oven. Worked well Tuesday and Wednesday. Oven not used again this week, but this evening, Friday, same thing happened again. Process has been repeated several times with fewer times between fan turn on. Have turned off power to ovens until I can get a repairman. Has anyone else had this experience or know what the problem is. Have been reading about the problems with WP ovens. Wondering if I need in addition to Home Depot Warranty the one from Whirlpool as well. Had Bosch convection ovens for 12 years then self-cleaned and thermostats went out and cannot be replaced because parts no longer made or available through any supplier. Said I would not buy Bosch ovens again because the parts became unavailable even sooner. What a mistake. Apparently self-cleaning element blows a lot of ovens thermostats and/or circuit boards. Loved the ovens and had only one repair after the ovens were one or two years old. The Bosch dishwasher is same age and still working great and usually cant even tell it is on.
Purchased the Gold Series Dishwasher Model No: WDF730PAYM0 Serial No: F14403489 on Dec 2011, started using it from Jan 2012. All is good until June 2014. It started leaking from the bottom, called Whirlpool - the great bad company. Since it is not under warranty they asked to schedule an appointment with their local authorized rip off service company. Technician come on the service day and told me that it is $120.00 for the service call and Labor and parts are extra, first of all $120.00 to come to my house is first rip off, that is the reason Whirlpool on their website do not give any estimates on the service call. After checking the appliance he said main assembly is bad and needs to replace and that will cost more than the original purchase price - what a ripoff. He asked me to contact Whirlpool, they may help since this is the known issue with this model. Called Whirlpool and mentioned and they said it is too old to continue to operate so they cannot help. Ended up trashing the 2.5 year old dishwasher for the new GE dishwasher. Never buy a Whirlpool ever again even on sale. Whirlpool company is not ethical and not ready to help consumer, would love to see them close their operation in America.
My NEW Whirlpool top loader just stopped working. I bought it in June 2015. The extended warranty I purchased ended at the end of June of this year. Guess what happened a few weeks later? The thing died. Seems totally fishy! My parents washing machine lasted 20 years. Why does this one die weeks after the warranty expired?
I Purchased a Whirlpool ceramic top self-cleaning oven & side-by-side refrigerator from Sears. I just want to share my experience. I do not have the exact year I purchased them. Too bad I was not aware of this site but after a year with the refrigerator I knew I would not buy another side-by-side and not a Whirlpool. The refrigerator motor runs too loud, the ice maker was forever stopping even during the summer. If you cleared the ice jams it would not reset for hours. The ice maker was replaced under warranty but it still jams; however now when you clear the ice from the trays it produces ice quickly. The temperature in the oven seems to be off now. I purchased a oven thermometer and to verify the temp and they are never the same. But my major concern now is the self cleaning feature. The front door is Yellow and unsightly from the self cleaning cycle. As I sit here typing, I hope the oven does not start a fire it is very hot. This is the last time I intend to use the self cleaning cycle again because I feel it should not be this hot. The ceramic top is hot enough to burn if you touch it. Strangely I checked the oven storage drawer and metal pans in them were okay. Cabinets beside the oven were just a little warm. But This customer will not purchase Whirlpool again.
Freezer side went out on model# ed5kvexvl00. Fridge is less than 2 yr old. Didnt expect anything to go wrong so quick. The extended warranty, I did not purchase. Replaced relay switch - no changes in problem... Contact them (Whirlpool) and like every else, got nowhere with them. 3 weeks and no fridge... Hopefully the compressor is not bad. Will find out soon. I will be researching before I select new appliances in the future. They need to be ashamed of themselves.
Bought a new side-by-side in 7/2020 from Lowes in Keller, Texas. Salesman won me over with the buy American pitch claiming if the need ever arises for parts I would be far better off than with LG which orders their parts from South Korea. I bit, and bought, and now regret. The refrigerator dispenses water randomly and I must keep a glass under the dispenser all the time and empty it when it gets full. Under warranty they say! Well here it is September and after being on hold for an hour each time (6 times as of today) I attempt to get help they tell me that the part W11293378 is not available and will not be made until after this month? BEWARE this brand. This is a poorly ran company and buyers would be better served to look elsewhere.
I was pleased with the look and performance on my dishwasher. It did sometimes leave some food particles, but, overall it did a good job. I really dont remember the model since it has been a few years since I had it.
We purchased a Whirlpool Gold French Door refrigerator with a bottom freezer in Dec 2009. We discovered a leak dripping onto the finished basement ceiling. We discovered after several attempts that the plastic evaporation tray was broken (since day one). Previous defrosting had obviously evaporated into the hardwood until now. This item, although obviously broken when installed, was not fixed as the warranty had run out.Boo to Corbiel and to Whirlpool. They are financially not worth a lawsuit.
I have a small condo and this dryer fit into the appliance closet with a few inches around it. Every home needs a laundry system. I bought the washer and dryer in this model. Whirlpool is great!
