I bought a water heater in 2008 from Lowes department store. The heater would continually go out causing no hot water. The company had sent several technical repair men out to resolve this problem, and still the problem remains. The Technical Support requested that they will pay for the part and I could install it, not knowing if I am able to do such a job. The technicians who were sent to my home were not able to do the job. How do they expect me to do the job without proper experience? Whirlpool products are not reliable nor is their maintenance contract. Stay away from this company.
Called Whirlpool about fridge and they stated Too bad its out of warranty. The sides are getting pitted. It is a stainless with black sides. The condo is always air conditioned. It is two years old. Not very long to have a $1200 fridge look terrible. However, the fridge works fine.
Got the dreaded 4 flashes LED status - High Temperature Shutdown. Online and vendor documentation says that this condition requires gas valve unit replacement, a $115 option. If your Pilot remains burning, but main burner does not kick in, then a good guess is the circuit board requires a reset. Prior to any further work, test the Thermopile, that is the round item with two blades located below and to the right of the gas valve unit. Move knob on control panel to OFF1) Pull out plug with red and white wires located on front of gas control. 2) Have someone Hold in the control knob on the unit at Pilot, and make sure Pilot flame is burning. 3) Using a multi-meter, set it to millivolt reading, and test voltage across the two wires. Voltage should be greater than 350mV, preferably >500mV. 4) If you get a reading in that range, your Thermopile is good. Turn knob to off position. Do NOT uncouple gas lines. 5) Piezo Igniter wire comes apart, disconnect it. 6) Remove screw that holds front cover. (screw located bottom left as you look at the unit) 7)Cover simply pulls off directly towards you. 8)Remove the screw holding the circuit board to the cover, and remove circuit board by unclipping it - 3 clips, one either side and one at bottom. 9) Unplug the 3 strand thermostat cable, you should now have the circuit board clear. 10) Take a piece of aluminum foil, fold it twice, then lay circuit board on it facing up, do it on top of tank, want it grounded. 11)Using one of the multimeter probes, wrap a piece of foil around it, keeping point free, and ground it too. Then slowly work around the board, touching all the solder connections you see, as well as the chip legs. Pay particular attention to the round objects on the board (capacitors), make sure to ground out each of the solder points, visible either side. (takes about 5- 8 minutes, take your time) 12) Once done, reconnect thermostat cable to board, then reinstall board into cover (dont forget the screw)13) Place cover back into place, screw in cover screw, reattach Piezo wire and black electrical plug with thermopile wires. 14) set Knob to Pilot, get pilot lit (may take a few hits on the Piezo button) and while still holding the knob in, watch to see what LED flashes you get (there will be a 10 second time lapse before it will start to flash) 15) You should either get 1 flash or 7 flashes, that means the board is reset, now turn knob to warm, and see if main burner kicks in. Good luck, and for a half hours work you have saved yourself $$$. PS: If it occurs again, you have sediment build up, need to drain the tank.
In January 2011, we bought several appliances and a refrigerator was one of them. The model number is G15VAXVQ01 which is a side by side, French Door Ref with water and ice on outside. We have had problems with the very cheap plastic drawers that are at the bottom of the refrigerator to hold vegetables and meat. We have to be extremely careful so they will not break when opening the drawers. As of late, the fruit and vegetables have been freezing. I went to change the temperature on the outside gauge and dropped the control to 33 degrees and it stuck there. I tried to unplug the refrigerator to reboot the system, to no avail. The temperature is stuck at 33 degrees which will freeze most of our food in a few hours. The freezer side temperature gauge does work.We also have problems with the ice/water machine. I pushed the water button a week ago and from then on, I couldnt get the ice to come on. I did unplug the refrigerator to reboot and then I was able to switch over to the ice, but I could not get back to the water side. Also, there is no crusher on this machine so the ice comes out in chunks. If we had to do over again, we would not buy a Whirlpool as it appears that they are not interested anymore in quality products and consider cheap junk something to be desired. Not by us! We will get this albatross fixed and see about getting rid of it. It is a buyer beware market so I suggest others beware of Whirlpool products.
There is a melted hole in my Whirlpool microwave. The model WMH53520CS is on the recall list for this but not my serial number. Other have posted this and theirs was not covered. This should never happen. I have never had a microwave do this. If I have to replace it I won’t buy Whirlpool ever again.
The dishwasher is noisy and the latch which holds the soap, at times sticks. When we think it is done and ready to unload we need to run it again because the latch that holds the soap DID NOT open. Not good.
This is a good size fridge/freezer with double doors 25.4 cu ft, its given us good service for 13 yrs without any problems. My only complaint that I wish it was more quiet. (Whirlpool brand) double doors, ice maker w/ water and lights.
My side-by-side lasted 2 years 3 months. It stopped cooling. Lost all my food. Inconvenienced by waiting for repair service. Had to take a vacation day from work. This refrigerator replaced a 13 yr old GE and the one in my garage is 25+ years old and still going strong. No help from Whirlpool or Lowes. I will never own a Whirlpool anything ever again.
How I wish I had read this board before purchasing! This is the worst washing machine made. Put your clothes in the sink, add water to cover two thirds, add detergent, slosh around slowly for a few minutes, wring and remove. You have replicated a Cabrio wash! I have complained repeatedly, had a repairman who assured me it was working properly (as designed, too little water, too little agitation). I was a lifetime Whirlpool client.
I hate this machine. I stress whenever I have to do laundry. The worse machine I ever owned. Stay away from it. It is a total rip off... I wanted to replace my front loader machine with a top loader. Based on good reviews at the time I purchased the Cabrio. Nothing gets clean. The detergent stays on the clothes and unless I use the Bulk senor. Otherwise I get horrible white marks on all the dark clothes. I cant even get the marks off with a wet rag. So washing only a few items I have to use Bulk. The sound is so bad from the machine, my dog runs in the closet and shakes. I feel so bad for her. How can a popular name like Whirlpool make such an inferior product? They dont even stand behind it. Customer service stinks. Never will I buy a Whirlpool product again. Now, I am trying to save up to buy a new machine. Shame on you Whirlpool.
Purchased Whirlpool Duet wfw9550ww00 in 2012 from PC Rich, who purchased machines in 5/11. Product stopped being made 5 yrs prior. Of course I did not know until my washer went and had service come to my house. He explained prior information, looked at my machine for 2 seconds and said someone put in a heavy load that machine was not able to handle and 2 belts broke and guts of machine are destroyed. Its a $799 fix, not including labor, youre better off buying a new machine. How does he know thats the reason for breaking??? The machine is 2 years old, not a scratch on it!!! Unbelievable!!!! Then states thats $114 for the service call. $114 for 2 seconds!!! Im absolutely furious!!! Whirlpool has a new program (if it helps anyone), if your machine is fairly new they will give you a invoice for 1/2 off a new Whirlpool... Take it from there. There should be a tremendous action lawsuit, look at all these complaints...
I’ve had this washer since October 2018. Worst purchase ever. It does not clean the clothes nor does it put enough water in it. I’ve tried the deep water option too and it’s for sure still not enough. I don’t understand how they even thought that this was perfectly fine to sell. If I could’ve taken it back a month after having it, I for sure would. And no one will buy it because they’ve read reviews of how it’s terrible. I wasted $900 on this washer. I have the dryer also which works amazing. The washer just sucks something terrible. My husbands military uniforms always look dirty and a lot of the clothes aren’t ever wet. I’ve finally seen a picture of how you’re supposed to have clothes in there. Why in the world would you only allow barely a layer of clothes at the very bottom to be cleaned by the agitator? Why would you have this huge drum only to put not even a load in there? This was such a waste Whirlpool and I’m glad I’m not the only person who has the same issue. I will never purchase another Whirlpool washer, it’s upsetting I can’t currently get rid of this crap washer I have now.
Purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio 4 years ago. It worked fine until last October when I had to call a Repair Service as all the Digital Controls would not work. It was the Digital Board had to be replaced at a cost of $ 315.00. That was October 2016 and in October of this year 2017 it started doing the same thing again. I call the Repair Service and they told me not to waste any more money on this machine as it is a piece of junk. I guess he was right as when I read all the bad reviews it got today, I realize I will be better off to buy another machine. It will not be a Whirlpool product. I purchased a Sears Kenmore Washer & Dryer back in 1995 and the washer lasted 20 years and I still have the dryer. This is what you refer to as a good product.
Over the last 3 years, the self-cleaning oven has decided to lock the door and clean itself with my food still inside on five different occasions. There is no way to override the lock. We have to shut off the electric power completely then wait for the oven to cool down before we can open the door and remove the charcoal substances! This happened once while a member of our fire department was here for dinner. This is one of the most frustrating and dangerous events ever! Please, please, please do not purchase a Whirlpool self-cleaning oven! I will never purchase one again. I was so excited to have a glass top stove and the first time this happened, I thought it was just a freak occurrence. But it is happening again and again. My oven is kept clean in attempt to avoid this, but to no avail. Not only am I afraid of a fire, but Im also out too many dollars of food waste! How disappointing to be cooking dinner and have it ruined by the oven. Nothing was burning in the oven at the time it decided to lock itself either! Disappointed, frustrated, and extremely miffed!
We purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio for $1,100 because it was the largest capacity washer in our price range at the time. It has had very little use as I typically take my clothes to the laundry mat since it is anything but large capacity. I have always had problems with the buttons malfunctioning but I went to empty a load and the water was still standing in it - I got code ld and realized that the entire tub had broke off and dropped into the bottom of the machine. Where is the class-action law suit? I want to be the first name on it. I dont have $1,100 to waste on junk. Whirlpool should be ashamed.
Our Whirlpool Cabrio washer is 2 years old and also sounds as if its a jet on the runway preparing for takeoff. The spin cycle started this about a month ago. It is so loud now. It is just SCARY. I am so angry! No recall??? seriously???!!! Rip-off. I will NEVER buy anything Whirlpool again!!!
Our Whirlpool refrigerator was delivered July 27th, 2013 after waiting 6 weeks for it. I was getting something off the top shelf (side by side refrigerator) when a 2-liter plastic bottle fell and put a hole in the bottom shelf where it sticks out under the vegetable tray. I have had grandkids sometimes stand on that shelf of our other refrigerators without ever doing any damage to it. It makes me nervous of dropping something else. I would like to send a complaint directly to Whirlpool but dont know how to reach them.
I purchased this washing machine December 16, 2011. I paid $737.07 for this machine. 14 months later I had to repair the top of it which cost me $255 for the lid which the plastic around the lid was cracked. I had to pay $136 installation fee and two years later the exact same thing happened again, the plastic cracked. I have contacted Whirlpool which took a complaint - said that was all they could do. Ive contacted the store where I purchased it, they can do nothing. I read online there are many complaints about the lid on this washing machine. It shouldve been a recall. I will never purchase a Whirlpool product again. I will not pay to have it repaired again. I will give it away and purchase something else not whirlpool and not from Lowes. I expected some kind of compensation from whirlpool on this. I have all my receipts.
In 2007 our Whirlpool 30 gallon gas water heater began to have issues. Serial number 0425126675, Model Number FG1F3030T3NOV. The pilot light kept going out and would not stay lit.. After several times with replacement parts being sent with the same thing happening, finally in 2010 they replaced the water heater. A new water heater was professionally put in, serial number 1023T412357 Model number BFG1F3030T3noHV.I am having the exact same issue and I was told that the warranty was null and void on the new water heater because it was a replacement. They replaced a defective water heater with a defective water heater. I called the number given to me by Lowes 1/877/817/6750. I spoke with Nichole. I told her that I should not have to pay for replacement parts for a defective water heater. I told her that I was never informed that there would not be a warranty. I live on a fixed income and cannot afford to buy another water heater because I was given a defective water heater in replacement for a defective water heater. I became angry stating, Thanks for nothing and I hung up. So many people have the same problem with these water heaters that something MUST be done.
This Whirlpool refrigerator/freezer Model W10314956B was purchased from Lowes on June 29, 2012. Recently noticed rust appearing under ice/water dispenser tray. Requested warranty service, but was told the problem was considered DUE TO WEAR & TEAR! TOTAL COP-OUT! There are NO MOVING PARTS in this area; how can there be WEAR and TEAR? To my mind, this can only be charged as SHODDY MANUFACTURING or INADEQUATE QUALITY CONTROL by the manufacturer. This appliance is only 6 1/2 years old! Consumers expect refrigerators to last much longer than that. The only possible cause for this problem is as stated above: poor quality control by the manufacturing plant, and I completely discount being told the problem was due to WEAR and TEAR! I will think long and hard before I ever even CONSIDER purchasing another Whirlpool product, and maybe YOU SHOULD TOO!One issue that keeps gnawing at me is HOW, since this is supposed to be a STAINLESS STEEL refrigerator, can it rust? The best answer I found on Google was that its likely due to insufficient chromium in the mixture of metals used to make stainless steel. To me this continues to point to shoddy workmanship at the manufacturing plant. I have pictures of the problem, but for some reason Im unable to copy them to this complaint. Probably because Whirlpool is afraid of pictures that confirm their shoddy craftsmanship!
Purchased Whirlpool gas hot water heater from LOWES on 9/25/2016. After the installation, tried to light the pilot light for 90 minutes. Followed the recommended instructions, I could not get it to light. Called LOWES they told me to call Whirlpool. I did so, and told them I will return the heater to LOWES the next day. Whirlpool customer service very bad. Returned the heater to LOWES the next morning, went to a local plumbing shop and purchased a Rheem heater. After installation it lit very first attempt. Now three weeks later I get a letter in mail from collection agency that LOWES turned me in for stopping payment on the check I wrote them. After reading the many negative reviews and they disregard for my and my familys safety, nobody should purchase a Whirlpool gas heater from LOWES.
Sturdy, durable, and flawless operation, from the 5 multi style smooth top elements to the self cleaning convection oven with the secluded bottom element. It is a sleek clean looking appliance, and its the best weve ever owned. To one that says they dont make them like they used to, I say thank God!
Whirlpool Cabrio Washer and Dryer - I have had all of the problems that all of the other 900 people have complained about! The washer does not wash anything properly. I have even experienced having something such as a bit of cereal stuck to a dishcloth and it was still on there after a full wash cycle. All of my whites are now grey and stained. All of the sheets end up with a huge dirty ring the size of the tub in the middle of them. Everything comes out in a tangled mess of knots! Very frustrating! Everything comes out smelly as if its been sitting in the washer for days. Nothing smells fresh and clean like it should. Energy wise, we are using two and three times the amount of energy as I am washing and drying things for two or three times over, which brings me to the dryer. I put one single load in and it takes two or three cycles to dry it properly. This is unacceptable and I cannot believe that we cannot get some satisfaction from someone in this regard! We bought our set from Sears and I feel that they obviously know of this problem and still continue to sell Whirlpool products! Weve all been taken for a ride and Whirlpool should be held accountable for ripping people off this way. Someone please help!
Since there is only two people in this home, we decided to go for the smaller front-loading machine. This was purchased in 2012, still running. It does a clean wash, however common sense does remind people to not over-load a front load washer. If one follows directions, it gets the job done, and ones machine lasts longer without problems. Thanks.
I purchased the Whirlpool Cabrio Top Load Washer in 2009. It stopped working and I found that it needs a new control panel and recirculating pump which will cost $390, including labor (plus the cost of the service call to diagnose the problem). I would not have expected to have this type of problem with a washer within 3 years of purchase. I cannot recommend this machine.
Purchasing this refrigerator Model Number WRS571CIDMOO in September 2015 and now only being May 2017 the ice maker has stopped working. When I contacted Whirlpool USA they offered a warranty plan for $454.00 for one year when I purchased the refrigerator for $989.00. I told the representative, Why would I pay that much money for one year of service when I purchased the appliance for half of what the service fee? I now will no longer purchase anything from Whirlpool when other brands last much longer!
My $1800 French door refrigerator is only 20 months old and the ice maker has quit working. They sent out a repair person 5 times and replaced parts three of those times. Now they are saying it is unrepairable and are refunding my contract fee of $345 and leaving me with a broken ice maker. When the problem started it was making ice just not dumping it. Now it doesnt even get water. Throughout this all, two months, I have had to constantly call them to find out our next move. They say someone will call me in 2-3 days but they never do. One of The last people I talked to said, Well you can still keep food in it. I dont feel that is reasonable considering I bought a refrigerator with the ice maker in it. I finally called Whirlpool corporate instead of the service contract people to see if anything could be done and was told someone would call me back in 2-3 business days. Well its been a week and big surprise - have not heard from anyone. It is looking like we will have to purchase yet another refrigerator in less than two years. The service people I talked to were rude and really didnt seem to want to help at all. I believed when I purchased this Whirlpool product that they were a reputable company. Sorry to say that is not the case at all. I dont know if the refrigerator is really unrepairable or if they just gave up trying to find the issue. Seems hard to believe a basically new appliance cant be repaired.
Shortly after the warranty expired my refrigerator started building ice on the floor of the freezer. With the build-up of ice the freezer started leaking on the bottom. Sometimes it gets so bad I have a hard time closing the freezer door properly. The Model# GB9FHDXWS06, Serial# K31505096 of my Whirlpool refrigerator. I do not recommend any Whirlpool product. Do your research before you buy any Whirlpool product.
Its a very well build dishwasher. Its quiet, really do a deep cleaning and make it easier to leave the kitchen clean after dinner with 2 kids its something that I need, Its not pricey either like other brands.
I have a Whirlpool Cabrio WTW5640XW and I was able to get the belt back onto the pulley, about a month back and it ran, loudly, but it ran. Last week the belt popped off again and now the pulleys are screwed, so I probably won’t buy another motor (for the sake of the pulley). Ill get a front loaded Kenmore or something as I was never completely happy with how this thing washed and (didnt dry) our clothes.
We have been having white plastic pieces shoot out with our ice the past two days. We have only had this fridge for about 15 months. After reading these reviews; I am assuming when I call the service will be terrible as well as any fees for them to fix it. I sure hope it is under warranty; or I will never purchase Whirlpool products again.
We bought a new refrigerator when we bought our house in Dec. 2008. On the third of July 2015 my Whirlpool Gold stopped being cold. In fact it was a bit warm. Had a repairman out here today. Warranty expired and the compressor has failed. Wow! Im not happy.
Purchased washer 8/2015. Washer quit working 12/2015. Would not drain or do anything. Repairman dispatched and came 3 business days later. (They dont work weekends.) Repairman looked at old receptacle cover and immediately stated, Problem with polarity of plug. No prior problems with plug running appliances. Plugged into it for over 8 years. When I advised him of that then he started troubleshooting circuit board. He cleaned out the machine and got it to work. (Still under warranty) 4 days from repair, and machine quits. Same problem. Wont drain and wont do anything. Call for service again on Weds. morning and given following Tues for service call. Online consumer reports complaints #ered at over 1,7000. Same machine, same problems. Call Whirlpool directly, given runaround. Talk to Whirlpool mgr. (Robert) complaint # **. He states, Have to wait for service. But calls Brandt Melb., FL to try to get sooner service. Brandt calls me stating they have ordered a lid lock and CCU board for machine and will be out Monday. How would they know to order these parts if it is not a constant issue? Im thinking class action suit for shoddy product... LOWES Indian Harbour Beach, FL. Transaction #**.
I have posted on here in the past about the problems with the Cabrio Washer from Whirlpool. Our third top load lid was just ordered since 2011. There is a design flaw where the plastic frame around the lid cracks and causes the lid to hump up. While shopping at a local appliance store recently, I saw a new Cabrio washer and the lid and hinge system has be re-designed. I wonder why?????
I purchased my refrigerator from a home improvement store in October 2013. We paid around $2,600 for it. About a week ago we had a power outage and the refrigerator never came back on. I called Whirlpool repair since it was still under warranty. The said it would be 9-2-14 before they could come out. Today they came, did not have the part but said it would be here in 10 days. We will be without a refrigerator for 3 weeks. This is totally unacceptable but what can I do?
Purchased a whirlpool water heater 04/08/2005 and it worked for a short time. It had a 6 year warranty. I had to replace the thermocoupler assembly 1 time and it worked fine until last week. 09/02/1011, 4 months after warranty ran out, the unit started leaking severely from the top ? (Could of understood the bottom) here. After investigating further and being told to basically pound salt by the warranty number I called, I removed the top cove r(glued on by spray in insulation) and carved away the spray in insulation. All the bosses/threaded fittings for the inlet outlet and anode rod were all leaking under the insulation where it could not be seen! I know for a fact this unit was leaking long before the warranty expired! But because of the way it is built it is impossible to see it!. I strongly feel this was a manufacturing defect and there are hundreds if not thousands of these units in people houses all over the country!
Im 61 so I have some experience. I personally know fridges that have lasted over 20 years. I just Googled it and found out the norm is 14 to 17 years. This hunk of crap lasted 4 years. As soon as I got it home and plugged it in (4 yrs ago) the most noticeable thing was the noise. It sounded like a tractor! I considered taking it back (wish I did). Then after a couple of years the pull handle came off! The whole time we had to be careful the door was closing properly. It was problematic. Ive owned (and re-sold) about a dozen fridges in my life. This the first one to fail on me. It was bad from day one!
Model ED5PVEXWS14/Whirlpool Stainless Steel side-by-side refrigerator purchased from Lowes: My wife and I purchased this refrigerator from Lowes as a part of a kitchen renovation project. It was delivered by Lowes and worked great. The shelving cracked at the back as other owners experienced, but I blamed that on kids and was fine with ordering replacement parts online. Fast forward to the present and a year later, everything is working fine. Out of the blue it quit cooling or freezing on 6/12/13. I thought it was a capacitor problem, but since we purchased the refrigerator on 4/28/12, we decided to have a repairman come out and check. When he accessed it, he found that the compressor was bad. He stated every once in while you get a fridge with a bad compressor. He also said I just happened to have the particular refrigerator he sees frequently. I normally buy all Whirlpool products - microwaves, washer and dryer, dishwasher, my old refrigerator (still working at my relatives house), and my daughters college fridge. This is the first time I have experienced something of this nature with a Whirlpool product and hope I can work out a resolution with them or Lowes.
Updated on 07/30/2021: On 5/4/21 a tree took out a neutral on the power line to my home and after inspection by my electrician, he said my Whirlpool refrigerator was done. Not even 1 year old. When attempting to get Whirlpool to replace the refrigerator, they said they have to try and repair it before considering any other options. As they do not cover damage by acts of God their warranty would not cover replacement. Mind you I paid around $1500 for my refrigerator and it was not even 1 year old. 5/17/21 (2 weeks from when the refrig got fried and I had to get and I had to purchase a used refrig until then) serviceman said he had to order parts. 6/1/21 - Motor-Cond $158.20, Fan Blade $13.97, CNTRL Elec $60 CORE [PI] $497.45 and Evap Fan Motor $183.91. Did not fix the problem and had to order more parts. 6/8/21 - Evap Fan Motor $183.91 (first one did not work), Rail $34.76. Service tech said to wait a bit before moving the frig back to make sure it was cooling properly. Finally moved it back on 7/7/21 and hooked up the water line. Few days later noticed water leaking from the top of the freezer door and a lot of water on my floor. Heard a funny sound and found water spurting from the top 2 corners of the freezer door. Called whirlpool warranty and was told they would contact me. Next I get a notice that I have a service appointment in August. Was able to get it moved with a follow up appointment with a part that was broken during the last repair for 7/28/21.7/28/21 - Fill tube heater for icemaker was open and frozen - now tech ordered Rail $34.76, Freezer Door $1,525.84 and Valve $124.23. 6-8 weeks custom order. So we also have to added 5 service calls to the cost - Approx. $500++. Total Replacement Parts = $2,758.81 with a final total cost to repair of $3258.81+ vs just replacing or reimbursing me for the appliance of approximately $1800. Someone needs to review their model because not only am I without a working refrig for 4-5 months, but the repairs cost them $1500 more and now they have a customer who will not longer invest in Whirlpool appliances because of bad business practices and inconvenience.Original: I purchased a Whirlpool side by side refrigerator in July 2020. Earlier this month I had a tree pull down a power line and disconnect the neutral, allowing a full surge of power to go through my house. It fried the exhaust hood, literally melting the components. It also fried my refrigerator. The electrician who reconnected my home signed an affidavit that the refrigerator was permanently damaged due to the surge. When contacting Whirlpool to file a claim, I was on hold over an hour before getting a person. This happens every time you attempt to contact them, so patience is required. I was not able to get a service call on my refrigerator for 2 weeks (5/17/21) so that left me without a refrigerator. The service company showed up early and I had no choice but to leave my job or reschedule another 2 weeks out. The tech said he could only repair and made an attempt to contact Whirlpool to get the unit replaced and he was on hold for over 30 minutes. They declined and said because it was an act of God they could not replace it. I was already having issues with the unit before the surge of a constant defrost that was causing food to spoil due to melting then refreezing causing freezer burn. I also lost over $500 worth of food. They dont cover. It also caused the icemaker to constantly freeze up. Now it will take at least another 2 weeks for the replacement part to fix and a refrigerator is not something you can go without that long. I had a concern this would happen. When speaking with customer I service, they said they just needed the tech to confirm it was damaged to replace it. At this point he said he does not know if the piece (on 2 weeks backorder) will fix it. They can only tell after the fact. He said Whirlpool only fixes and does not replace, which is not what Home Depot informed me when inquiring into the warranty with Whirlpool. They said Power Surges are covered. So with this in mind, I would seriously consider buying from Whirlpool. Things break, situations happen and no one should have to go without a refrigerator for over a month because they may be able to fix it. Then there is the concern if something is melted/destroyed inside, if it could cause a fire in the future. Will never buy another Whirlpool appliance again. They cant stand behind their products, the products are worthless. And yes, I am very upset. Again - just had Whirlpool tell me its not covered as it is an act of God! ARGH -
My not yet 3yr old ($2100.00) Whirlpool refrigerator started having problems. I thought it was related to the ice maker. When the repairman came out, he said it had leaked the Freon, so I thought it should have been a simple fix. Boy was I wrong. It turns out it has a sealed system so no one can access this to fix it. It is now junk and I have to buy a new one. I will never purchase Whirlpool anything ever again and I will also tell anyone who will listen about my experience. My repairman said this happens all the time, and 7 or 8 yrs ago Whirlpool went from being one of the top models to being junk.
I bought a new Cabrio washer in August of 2011, and by December of 2011, it sounds like a jet engine when washing or spinning. It is still under warranty, but it is the same issue reported by countless others as I have discovered. Whirlpool should recall and find out what the problem is so that every consumer does not have to experience this issue.I will never buy Whirlpool again and I am going to make sure I spread the word about this machine to keep others from this experience.
First my pump went out on a 4 month old washer. Had to wait several days for them to fix it. My washer worked for two weeks and same problem. Its been over a week and the service man cancels then shows up and tells me pumps out and can get one for several weeks. I cant stand them still not fixed.
Refrigerator making a non stop loud noise, model WRF560SFYH01 - Thought I was buying a reliable product with a good name. Should have read other customer concerns as it seems like the products last as long as the warranty. A few months after the warranty, my refrigerator started making a very loud noise. Repair person takes it apart as the diagnostics showed no error and his best guess was a thermistor as there was ice build up making contact with the fan. Replaced it and the total of the bill was $174.23 and this may not even be the problem. If it is the board not reading properly, very expensive.
In 2007, I purchased two 30 gal. Whirlpool Flame Lock water heaters (Model: FG1F3030T3NOV) from Lowes for two different homes that I own. I started having trouble with one of them after about two months. I replaced the thermocouple several times, with each one working only about a month. After that, Lowes replaced the complete burner assembly and that, so far, fixed the problem. Now, the second one has (1 Oct 11) gone out. The local Lowes told me that they are out of the burner assembly for this water heater. I called them this evening and was told that they didnt know when they would have the part, but to call back about every other day to see if they had received the burner assembly for this water heater. They said that it could be from two days to two weeks before they may receive this part!In 2008, I also purchased a 40 gal. Whirlpool Flame Lock water heater (Model: BFG1F4034T3NOV) for my house and no problems so far. In 2007, I even recommended that a friend of mine purchase and install one of these in a home that he owned. He did. I helped him install it and it later had the same problems! I am now needing a water heater for my workshop. What can I buy thats dependable?
When I grew up, my mom and dad had a Whirlpool dishwasher and it was the ONLY dishwasher we EVER had. The SAME one, for over 20 years! So, with confidence, I purchased a mid-range unit. (over $600 2015). By 2016, ONE year later, I was already buying replacement parts because the top rack was falling apart and the bottom spinner broke as well. The parts were extremely expensive and hard to find. Now, a mere 4 years later, you cannot find ANY parts for this machine and there are so many issues with the unit. It is no longer functioning. When it did work it ran for 4 HOURS!! Even then, the dishes are filthy. I am so upset by whirlpool. I want a full refund from the company for treating their loyal customer so badly.
I purchased a Cabrio Top Load Washer and Front Load Dryer four and a 1/2 years ago and have had nothing but trouble with them! The dryer needs to be run 2 cycles to get the clothes dry. In that time I have had a repairman come to the house 3 different times to look at the dryer, which cost me over $200. They have had to replace the belt and inner pulley and then the sensor harness. Recently when they came they tried replacing the coils. It continues to give me trouble drying the clothes and I am very dissatisfied with it. A few weeks ago the washer broke. I have had repairmen come to the house 4 different times. Multiple times there has been a problem with the spin and drain cycle. All of the water would not empty out. I would have to run the cycle again. They eventually replaced the actuator. I continued to have difficulties with the washer. Then the machine got very loud when it would spin out sounding like a rocket was going to take off! The repairman came once again said it was the motor. When they returned with the parts and took the machine apart, the parts inside the machine had all corroded! The water had been leaking inside the machine, destroying it, and a black sticky buildup had formed! The machine was deemed unrepairable! I paid over $700 for each machine and am very upset about this. When I spoke to customer service they would not stand by their product because I didnt have the warranty anymore. After numerous phone calls I filed a complaint and gave a bad review of the support service and product that I received.Weeks later they called me and offered to have me purchase another machine at half price! I had already bought another brand washing machine and I asked them to apply the amount toward what I had spent on the new one. They would not and insisted the only thing they could do would be to have me buy their washer at half price. I told them I lost faith in their product and didnt want another one. So, I would not recommend the Whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer, or Whirlpool products since they will not stand by them! I have pictures to prove what happened to the washer!
I like the looks with brushed stainless steel and black. The most difficulty was getting someone to help get it and load it. But other than that, Ive had no problems with the dishwasher.
Was baking a pie when suddenly noticed the electric range had caught fire underneath the bottom of the oven. I could see partially through the slits inside that the heating element was on fire. Could not get to heating element as it covered. Shut the door and turned the oven off so the fire would die out. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. I was baking pecan pie. Whirlpool is no longer a quality brand. Washing machine bought at the same time has been repaired twice since owning. Also, Aqualift technology is a joke. It doesnt remove any messes burned during cooking. I wish Id stayed away from this complaint. Bought a stove, washer, and dryer. Dryer has been the only appliance we havent had a problem with. We saved over a year to ripped off by Whirlpool. I expected a washer and stove to last far longer than 3 years. Actually would be 3 yrs come December. So disappointed.
I bought a Whirlpool Partner II 5 and a half years ago. It was always noisy and took very long to run a cycle. It started to malfunction after 2 years. We bought a new computer for it and a new control panel for the touch keys. It still kept not running a cycle fully. We found a YOUTUBE video that showed how to reset the model by pressing a combination of Normal and Heated Dry and that seemed to fix it for 2 years. It has stopped working again. Now it seems that the heating element is out. It doesnt clean at all, a scum film has covered the inside of the dishwasher and even mold spots are appearing. Ive had to wait extremely long times on hold to talk with an agent. My option is to hire a repair tech to come out and repair it and I pay for the parts. Seems like a bad deal since Ive already spent over a hundred on repairing it and a lot of hours. I will never buy a Whirlpool brand appliance again.
We too have nothing but problems with our supposedly top of the line convection/microwave oven. Purchased in 2010 in February for new kitchen. From start, original microwave installed did not work, would not cook or heat. Dealer replaced. One year later, same problem, but now out of warranty. Had to pay labor, costs, and parts to get fixed. Fast forward 13 months, again magnetron needs replaced, microwave will not work. What a hunk of junk for our money. I will never buy any Whirlpool appliances again, and I will tell everyone I know the same. When you call customer service, they are nice but only say “too bad, out of warranty”. What a joke for a major appliance company to tell customers. It is obvious that this microwave is faulty from the get go, and they just keep on making them the same way and not trying to fix the problem.
I bought a 3 burner glass hob under your built-in cooktop category (model no. AKCG 930-90 cm) in Nov. 2015 from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. In the month of April 2015 I started having problems with the medium burner. The problems was rectified on 29-4-2017 after some replacements that cost me Rs. 5000. After two months again the same problem occurred, the medium burner was not igniting again, I registered a complaint on 5-7-2017, the representative came and did some maintenance and left but the same problem resurfaced after a few days.I was fed up of complaining and started using the burner during necessity by placing a weight on top of the knob. Finally on 15th Feb 2018 while I was using the stove the glass top cracked into pieces. My experience of the companys built-in cooktop is horrible and bitter. Every time I registered a complaint the representatives used to attend the complaint after 2 weeks and that too after so many phone calls. I am really dissatisfied with the service and quality of the product. I therefore strongly recommend customers not to buy this product.
My refrigerator & dishwasher were purchased less than a year ago. Ive already had all the doors replaced on the fridge and the new ones are rusting. Discovered same issue with the dishwasher. The company doesnt seem to be overly concerned with remedying the issue. No sense of urgency or concern for the customer.
I bought an American US Craftmaster water heater in October 2006. I have paid a plumber 3 different times to work on this and the pilot light will not stay lite. I used the replacement parts they sent, followed their technicians directions over the phone, etc. Nothing seems to work. Christmas was not pleasant at my house this year. I’m still taking cold showers.
We bought a Whirlpool Cabrio 6300 washer based off the salesmans recommendation (not very happy about this). After the warranty ran out, every time in the spin cycle, it makes a sound similar to a piece of metal banging around inside the cylinder during the cycle. Our friends have told us they had a similar experience and for their machine, they found out the bearings were going out. Weve had this machine a total of 3 years. I doubt we ever buy another item from HH Gregg plus will do our investigation on Consumer Buyers digest before we toss any more money out for a washing machine.
My Whirlpool Gold, French door refrigerator is 3 years old and just died. The most frustrating part was trying first to go through Whirlpool.com to have them schedule a repair service call. It seems that when I added my zip code and address, their program automatically changed the zip code. So an appointment was scheduled for a repair company that is 4 hours away from me. In calling Whirlpool back (another 30 minutes on hold), they again attempted to insert my address and zip code only to find the program changed it again. I got NO assistance. I finally did find someone (through Thumbtack.com) who found that one of the 3 circuit boards that tell the compressor to cool, was bad. Its going to be 10 days before I will have a refrigerator again and after spending 2K on it, makes me angry. I will never buy Whirlpool again.
This microwave is one of the best Ive ever used. Ive had several brands from generic on up and this one takes the cake. Its very reliable. It works excellent and heats up fast. Ive had no problems with it working to full capacity or any fear of it breaking down. Its pricey but well worth the cost if you want worry-free warming and cooking.
This microwave had been the best I have used for several reasons. One is the modern design that goes with our kitchen. Two: it heats the food very quietly and produced an even temperature through out the food. Three; The inside of the microwave is easy to clean out.
First one had major problems. The bladder they call it. They took out the whole system out, replaced the tube that goes to the top of the refrigerator which is where it always starts leaking so they worked on it three times, junked it, gave me a new one and here I am again same thing. Ruined my hardwood floor and Im stuck with it. Never again will I buy WHIRLPOOL.
We purchased Whirlpool sports model on 2/1/2011. We faced a problem with the motor in a month’s time. The service man told that there are fluctuations in the power so it went wrong. They replaced it after 15-20 days’ time. We also complained that it’s making noise and then he told that we should keep it on the stand. We did so, even then, it’s still noisy. Now about 3 weeks back, suddenly it stopped working during the wash. I never overloaded the washing machine. We complained to the dealer. The mechanic came and told that we had to replace some parts and he will get in a couple of days, but he never turned up. When we contacted the dealer, he said that the parts were unavailable and he will send them in a couple of days. I am fed up of that answer. We could have purchased IFB instead of this.
Purchased a new Twin Thin washer & dryer combo when I first moved into my new apartment two-years ago since it was a good fit for the space that lies inside my patio. Nothing BUT problems from day one since it DESTROYS/EATS your delicate clothing. Repairmen in and out could find nothing wrong with it. The problem lies in the fact that the so-called gentle cycle agitates at the same rate as the other cycles, but stops so that the agitation time is shorter, but at the same time the agitation no matter if its shorter is still too vigorous for delicates. Under contract, so keep having repairmen come at no cost to me other than a complete waste of money purchase inclusive of unwearable brand new RUINED clothing.Called the company the other day & was told they could SELL me a different one, but they would probably not pay to have the LEMON removed. Also, suggested I wash my delicates in a mesh bag which is impossible to do when one has maxi dresses that tell you to wash on the delicate cycle. Mesh bags are made for small items - DUH!Repairman came again today, and was kind enough to make call to them. Later found that their response to him was that I was putting too much into the washer. Like no way, Jose! Asked tech to forward e-mail to them advising that they were more than welcome to come film me when I wash because that was NOT the problem with it. Already knew Whirlpool had discontinued this washer/dryer combo, but THAT fact was never mentioned. A lot of sites online no longer even carry the parts for it. Found others with the same issues on various sites relating to this now discontinued model which is akin to a Purana fish with shark fins. E-mail sent to tech that was here today asking him to forward my e-mail to whomever he made contact with today via phone that unless the situation is remedied that I would have to take further action. Now awaiting response from the main man tech or whatever his position is at Whirlpool.Bottom line is that it is a LEMON that has not only cost me money, but excessive amount of time to resolve this issue not to mention time spent online researching this, that and the other concerning this discontinued appliance. Warning to all out there - DO NOT BUY WHIRLPOOL - UNLESS YOU WANT A HASSLE and a lot of BS. Found they already have an extreme number of lawsuits against them during my online searches. So, ball is in their court at the present time. Will be calling them the end of the week once again in order to get this problem resolved unless I hear from them via e-mail.Totally exhausted from it all. Word to the wise: DO NOT waste your money on Whirlpool appliances unless you want more problems than you already have. I have health problems which are exacerbated by stress, and believe me this has been one of the most stressful and one of the longest things to resolve (two years) brought on by their lack of admittance that this DISCONTINUED product is a real LEMON. BUYER BEWARE OF WHIRLPOOL - I rest my case.Updated on 07/12/2018: Cant seem to find this model anywhere now. Not to mention the fact that I found it not only eats my delicate clothing, but is also ruining my towels, etc. and I use the regular wash cycle for these items. You cant find my model #WET4024EWO anywhere; looked like they put a similar one out with a slightly different model # in which the drum/agitator differs from mine. Now find Im having difficulty finding that NEW stackable model on the WEB. Leaves me wondering if that one has also now been discontinued???They have given me no resolution to my problem as of yet, and Im totally EXHAUSTED from it all. Have high blood pressure, a heart condition, and cant even sleep right anymore due to their lack of cooperation to solve this on-going problem which is certainly not helping any of my medical conditions either. Its causing nothing but STRESS, STRESS, STRESS and more STRESS! Will be filing a complaint with The Better Business Bureau by next week if not resolved by this weekend (if I live that long).Updated on 07/17/2018: In looking at this Washer/Dryer Combo Model # WET4024EW aka LEMON again today after noticing more clothes which now have holes in them after being washed on the gentle cycle with the highest water level possible, I noted the size of the agitator. Bottom line on this is that the agitator also appears TOO LARGE for the machine which also could also be another contributory factor to the destruction capabilities of this now discontinued model. Also, inspected towels today and found torn stitching & thread tearing in those also; appears EVERYTHING you wash in this machine gets destroyed. In researching further on their newer makes noticed that the agitator appears either much smaller or has been removed altogether. Hopefully this will serve to aid anyone out there who is thinking of buying this machine second hand from anyone out there that is attempting to sell it vs obtaining restitution from Whirlpool.
I bought the Whirlpool French 4 door fridge WRX988SIBM 01. I like the way it stores and layout (other than the icemaker taking the entire left door out). But I got a lemon, I bought the Lowes 5 year warranty (with the 4 repairs replacement). The fourth repair and dead declaration was 5 years and a week (so just out of Lowes extended warranty by a week). The Death Certificate repair guy said they dont make em like they used to. So I am now buying another fridge - trying Samsung this time. Every fridge has a lemon once in awhile and with my luck... Well you can thank me for taking it off your hands! :) I am averaging 5 years per fridge. Thats a lot of money and I expect to get at least 10 years life on a major appliance.
We bought this refrigerator (Whirlpool Model # WRF9913F1FM00) last August 2016. From day 1, the water coming out from the water dispenser was not cold at all. Same temperature as the tap water. By November, the refrigerator started to get warm. Apparently, the evaporator fan motor had to be changed according to the technician who spent more than an hour on the phone with their technical advisor to diagnose the problem with the refrigerator. After a week, the refrigerator got fixed. Not only did the refrigerator started working again, even the water from the dispenser got finally cold, too. Now four months later, March 2016, the same problem: the fridge started to not get cold again. In addition to that, the ice would not come out from the ice dispenser and water from the water dispenser is not cold again. When my husband checked inside the door, the ice were all clumped together. They looked like they melted. And even the ice in the freezer bin looked the same. And on top of this, the refrigerator was making so much noise. The technician was just here again today.
We bought our dishwasher April 2018. This morning I noticed the paint had bubbled above the heat vent (area 3x 1/2). Upon closer inspection, the the paint was also peeling. We called the company to see if they would replace the skin but the agent said the only thing they could do was send us touch-up paint. The door is considered cosmetic & only covered for 30 days. If we wanted to replace the door panel, we were welcome to buy one from them. However as this seems to be a manufacturing defect, we would be replacing the door every 16 months. When we realized whirlpool wouldnt back their product, my husband looked a little closer to see what needed to be done & found that it had rusted under the paint & painting on top of rust will adhere properly.
I purchased our brand new double ovens on 9/27/11. I was happy until 11/3/11 when the inside glass exploded, shooting shards of it all over our kitchen during the self-cleaning cycle. I immediately called Kitchen Aides corporate office in Michigan. She said that she could send a technician out to access the damages but didnt see that this was a product issue. Like I dont know how to properly push buttons to self clean! The technician came out the next day and said that he was only authorized to replace the glass, nothing else. He couldnt tell me why it shattered, he thought perhaps there was a bubble in the glass during manufacturing. I said I think it needs a whole new door at the very least, but more likely a new unit. I just paid $3000 for what will be a refurbished oven after one month of use. Today, I called once again to tell them that I am not satisfied with new glass, not to mention my oven is unusable in its current state and still has glass sipping out. I spoke to a woman in their safety committee department, who told me that Whirlpools warranty is replacement of broken parts, nothing more, and since only one pane of glass broke and not the door physically, they couldnt authorize a new door or new oven. Mind you, that we still dont know why it broke, was it just faulty glass or could it be a heating problem? She didnt care, only that they could only repair the glass. I asked if the glass could be overnighted since I have been without an oven for four days now. She said that she had no way of doing that, so I asked if I could speak to the parts department and she said I could not, that only techs could contact them. I asked if she could do anything for me? Could she assure me that it would be fixed within the week? No. Could she assure me that it would be fixed by Thanksgiving? No. Whirlpools policy clearly is that once you purchase their products, they have no intentions of listening to their customers complaints or concerns only to do the very minimum required.
We purchased a Cabrio washer in August 2013, in early August 2014 we noticed that it was not getting all of the detergent out of the clothes (noticed it on the dark clothes after drying). We use less than the recommended amount of HE detergent and dilute it in the dispenser, also always use the extra rinse. We just had a Sears service man out at a $100 cost only to find out that he gets these calls all of the time and the machine is operating at the factory settings. After reporting the problem to Whirlpool all I got was we are sorry and a link to how to operate the washer. In the demonstration video it clearly shows that the water level never covers the clothes. I know Im old school but in my opinion the water should cover the clothes so it can properly wet and agitate the items in the washer. To say I am less than satisfied is a gross understatement. Im out the cost of the washer plus an additional $100 and after a year of ownership and contacting Whirlpool less than a week after the factory warranty ran out all I get is an Im sorry you do not know how to operate a washer.
Purchased the fridge from hhregg in August/September 2012. Model G16FARXX. After less than three years of owning it, found out today that the compressor is shot and will have to be replaced. Replacement/repair costs are ~$900, almost as much as the fridge brand new. Chatted with customer support and then would/could not do anything. I feel ripped off. If it happened after 5 years of use, then my attitude would be different, but not a major component going out in less than 3 years.
Got a simple error code E6 F2 on the display of my oven (only 8 years old). Called Whirlpool to schedule a repair. They told me there were no available dates for one of their techs to fix my unit. They referred me to 3 outside companies that wanted to charge me over $100 just to come out and take a look. One of the phone numbers to the companies they referred me to was a wrong number. I asked them to tell me what the error code means and they said they couldnt tell me with any degree of accuracy. (What use is an error code, then??!!) I checked all over the internet and different websites say it might be a control board (over $300 for the part) issue. But several techs also said that it is a crap shoot and could also be a Temperature Sensor. I called back Whirlpool to see if they could get me a deal on the part. But, guess what? They dont sell it anymore...in fact they dont even sell their own parts at all!! And, they transferred me to some outside company that refused to even give me part numbers, to avoid me shopping for a better deal (which I did end up finding on Amazon after number 6 below). I called back Whirlpool and after getting transferred around to 2-3 different people and wasting about an hour I finally got someone who finally wanted to just give me whatever decent service they could and they finally got me the part numbers of the 2 different control boards (Main Control Unit and Sister board that controls the locking mechanism, $367 and $140 respectively). Now I am faced with paying an Appliance Repair person over $500 for what seems to me is a BIG FAT LEMON of an appliance due to the sheer number of unsatisfied people that are having the same issue, have had it fixed, and had the error just return again. THUS.... WHIRLPOOL AND THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEIR PRODUCTS JUST SUCK!! AND I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE! THE LEAST THEIR COMPANY COULD DO IS TRY TO HELP FIX THE PROBLEM, NOT EXACERBATE IT BY GIVING SHADY CUSTOMER SERVICE AND REFUSING TO HELP FIX THE PROBLEM!!!
I purchased my water heater at Lowes and had it installed professionally. I suspected something was not quite right on numerous occasions because the hot water recovery time seemed excessive. I finally called Whirlpool and they gave me the names and numbers of two companies that were on their list. The first asked for the model number and normal information and never called back. The second showed up spent five minutes charged me 78 dollars and said they could not get the part (gas valve) I needed. And if I could get it from Whirlpool they would charge me 250 to put it on. They also said Whirlpool made horrible water heaters and I should save myself the trouble and just replace it. I have since heard from additional plumbers and the gas company to stay away from Whirlpool. I did have the water heater replaced. When they did it and they drained the old water heater it had so much sludge in it draining it was very difficult. The sludge is mystery since I have a softener in my home and it should have prevented that. The individual from that gas company said that was just one of the many issue others had experienced with these heaters.
Updated on 02/13/2021: Company fails on customer service. My stove’s trim is rubbing off on my Whirlpool stove only 6 months old. No chemicals were ever used to clean the surface. This trim piece surrounds the controls and is not covered under warranty. An expensive cheaply made stove. Multiple attempts to have the piece replaced got nowhere. A letter sent to the head office was deferred back to customer service. Whirlpool has lost credibility and I will no longer buy their products.Original Review: So disappointed to find the paint finish coming off the trim on my 8 month old Whirlpool range. No harsh cleaning chemicals were used. Only mild dish soap and a microfiber towel. The trim, attached to the control panel on the front of the stove, is not actually stainless steel, but painted to look like stainless steel. Whirlpool warranty doesnt cover esthetics and refused to replace the trim, stating replacement would include the entire control panel and it is not covered under warranty. So be prepared to have your new expensive stove look old in a matter of months.
I bought my Whirlpool Cabrio Top Loading HE washing machine and dryer duo in February 2009. I carried an additional extra extended warranty for an extra 3 years. Now, at the dispenser where you add the bleach, it has rusted. The rust has gotten so bad the lid has detached from the body of the machine. I cant understand how a machine less than 4 years old could rust so badly. I called Whirlpool to complain and they suggested I get it repaired and my cost. A car that sits outside in rain, sun, snow and hail does not rust in 3 years. I bought the machines from Home Depot. The way Whirlpool has handled this, I will never buy another Whirlpool.
Washer, barely 6 months old, purchased at Lowes. While my washer cleans and I am happy with it, my washer started making loud noises during the spin cycle. I called Lowes warranty service approx 9/26/13; tech scheduled for 10/8, over a week later. Diagnosis: stripped bearings; total bearings and all tub components must be replaced. Parts ordered to be delivered to my door. Cost of washer: approx $800. Cost of parts: over $1600. Washer cannot be replaced until they have attempted to fix it at least 3 times. Repairman returns on 10/18 to repair. Oops, large plastic tub component shipped broken from manufacturer. Reorder parts for repair on 10/29. Finally a repair BUT A&E left the large tub part saying they had no room to take the part. So now Lowes is trying to arrange to dispose of the huge part sitting in my home. I live in a condo so the part cannot be disposed of in our facility. This has been a nightmare to fix and while customer service was cordial, they were totally unable to provide what is considered excellent customer service. So whose fault is it? I have missed several hours of work to try to get this taken care of. I spent money visiting a laundromat for over a month. I am the customer and guess what that means? Nothing! Now my concern is getting that large part out of my home and whether to buy an extended warranty OR just throw it out if it breaks. Very dissatisfied customer! And no the warranty for this major part overhaul is not a year from installation..... my warranty still starts the day of purchase. Are you serious? My advice: ask your friends about their appliances & esp service if they received it.
I bought a 40 gal. Whirlpool water heater from Lowes. It was just outside the 6-year warranty when the pilot light went out and wont relight. I called Whirlpool. They are about as worthless as box of rocks. They refuse to replace the thermocoupling free of charge or at least no shipping charge, when they know in fact there is a problem. It was because no class action lawsuit was filed. Its too bad for the customers. I wished they would have just said: “lady, please take your business somewhere else.” It would have made things easier. Or, better yet, they should just put a sign on their water heaters in the store stating: “If you have problems with our product, sorry about your luck. ** you and have a nice day.”
I’ve found many years of flawless performance from many Whirlpool Appliances! Once they are 20+ yrs old, I tolerate their aging and repair issues if they occur. My current microwave oven is 10 years old and was removed for a kitchen remodel, replaced after remodel and hasn’t skipped a beat!
I bought Whirlpool water heater model #FG1H5040T3NOV about 5 years ago. Burner assembly was replaced two years ago and now, thermocouple was replaced yesterday.
As part of a new home purchase from Pulte, the combo oven/microwave can with the house. After one year of usage, the oven liner started the pile and crack. We have a two year Whirlpool warranty through Pulte our builder. When we called the dedicated line for Whirlpool-Pulte to report the issue, we were told that Whirlpool must send a technician to take pictures and see what is going on. The technician shows up and declares that the oven is damaged and repairable. But Whirlpool reject to replace the unit claiming that this is a cosmetic issue and it must have been reported to them within 30 days from buying the home, as this is their policy for cosmetic issues. We did some research on our own and we found out that Blue color liner ovens have a well known issue, but Whirlpool keeps putting these into their products. Our builder is not able to get them to replace the unit as well. I will not ever buy any of Whirlpool products. Be aware if you want to purchase any Whirlpool appliances, warranty to them means nothing, even when they know that they are shipping products that have faulty into consumers.
I bought a Whirlpool front load washer, model wfw5620hw, July 19 2019. It worked for 5 months and quit working properly. I have been trying to get whirlpool to fix this piece of junk and have gotten nowhere. When I try to call them there is a 40 to 70 minute waiting time then I got transferred to another department for another 60 wait. This has happened several times in the last two months. I have never been treated so badly by any company in my life. I bought this machine from Menards and they just refer me to whirlpool so they are no help. I have two other commercial coin operated whirlpool machines and they have been great but this model is junk. Other people are having the same problem with it as I am having.
This microwave oven has worked well now for about six months and overall we have no complaints. My only complaint is that it has a cheap feel to it, especially when the door is closed...it creates a rattle type hollow noise....it just does not sound like it is well made. Time will tell I guess. The unit works well and heats fairly evenly. The cook options are plentiful but we rarely use most of them as we are usually merely re-heating food or coffee. The defrost cycle does work well for us.We purchased this microwave oven as well as a Whirlpool Range and Whirlpool French Door Refrigerator at the same time from a small Home Depot. Whereas that store had the microwave on display it did not have the other two on display and therefore we purchased them sight unseen....a BAD, BAD mistake. I have reviews for those two so I will say no more about them here. Thus, overall, we are very pleased with this Whirlpool Microwave Oven and would recommend it.
My parents bought a Whirlpool refrigerator that makes a strange noise, an intermittent clicking. Sometimes it goes on for hours. It is neither the ice maker, nor the compressor. I contacted Whirlpool, they said it is normal. It is not normal. I have a twenty-year-old refrigerator far quieter than this brand new, $2600 noisemaker that keeps things cold.
We purchased 6 six appliances for our home just over one year ago. The initial problem with the washing machine literally took ten home visit to resolve with the final solution being total replacement. Far too many days away from work. The laundry appliances have a loud beeping noise that goes off with the slightest contact, annoying and designed to be eliminated or muted. Today we discovered that the water filter in the fridge is single sourced at over $50 with shipping, which seems usurious at best. Will look elsewhere for the next house/purchase and NEVER buy from this company, including their other brands...Kitchenaid, Maytag, etc.
In the past 8 years, I have had to replace 2 Whirlpool Calypso washing machines and 1 Cabrio washing machine. All 3 washing machines worked great for the first 2 years. I purchased the Whirlpool extended warranty on all 3 washers. The first Calypso had 12 repairs done on it. Finally A&E repair service deemed the washer not repairable. Whirlpool replaced the Calypso with a new Calypso. Based on the problems with the first one, I again, purchased the extended warranty. Again, after the manufacturers warranty expired, I again had issues. After numerous repairs, A&E deemed the washer unrepairable. I contacted Whirpool warranty service and was told that they would reimburse me 75% of the cost of their choice of a Whirlpool washer! Since I have had 10 hand surgeries, I need a washer that does not have an agitator (hence the original Calypso purchase). The model that Whirpool warranty deemed as a replacement had an agitator and was also a much lower energy efficiency rating. I found that the Cabrio was a comparable replacement model and finally Whirlpool agreed to replace the washer at 75%. I was angry that they didnt cover the total replacement, but felt at least I got a totally new problem-free washer. I again purchased the extended warranty. I got the Cabrio in March of 2008. In April of 2011, the washer started getting rust around the bleach dispenser and also I would get UL code (Uneven Load). A&E tech came out and replaced a bearing. He said that the rust was not covered under the warranty. I asked how it was okay to have rust around the bleach dispenser if the washing machine is always wet with water. A month later, I was still having a UL code and the rust was getting worse. A&E came out again and said that even though I saw rust around the bleach dispenser, the rust was in fact underneath the tub and had eaten away at the parts. He called the warranty company to authorize repairs and the Whirlpool warranty company denied any more repairs on the washing machine.
I have purchased offloading washing machine in 13 Oct. Within three years it has given lot of problems. Every third month we have to call for service and spend lot of money. We had changed drain motor and condenser. Wiring is faulty. Machine will be down many times.
I am writing this review because I have been working with Whirlpool regarding our Cabrio washer for the last 9 months. Ever since we got this washer, it leaves a stain on our clothes, especially dark cottons. It looks like a grease stain. The machine is still under warranty (though we did purchase the 5 year warranty), and we have had the technicians out 3 times to figure out the problem and fix it. They even had another company come out to do a second opinion. They are stating that the machine is functioning and therefore there is nothing they can do for me. All of the tests the technicians do come out normal, and therefore the machine is functioning, never mind that it still leaves stains on many of our clothes on a regular basis.I spoke with someone yesterday who was unable to help, stating there was nothing they could do. So, I asked for her superior, he stated that it is functioning properly, and that I should take the advice of one of the technicians who suggested I mix the soap with water beforehand because he is pretty certain it is soap residue (though he admitted I dont use too much when I showed him how much I use). Never mind the fact that if I have to do something more than the directions state, it isnt working properly, we have already done this and it doesnt stop the residue from happening. He still just continued to say that is what the technician said would help so that is what Im supposed to do.So, I asked for his manager. I am currently waiting for them to call me back. I am hoping they will do the right thing and just exchange it for a different washing machine, one that will work. I dont care what kind, whether its brand new or not, I just want a washing machine that actually cleans my clothes instead of leaving a residue on them.We do agree with the technician that said it was soap residue. We have a picture of a pile of dry soap in the dispenser (which the first technician told me to switch to) after the washer had finished its cycle. The washer doesnt have enough water mix with the soap to keep it from leaving a residue on the clothes. And, the residue doesnt just wash off if I wash it again (which shouldnt need to be done with a washer that is less than a year old anyway). It is a permanent stain unless we scrub it with Lestoil - an oil remover. But, that takes time and it needs to be washed twice to get the Lestoil scent out, which then gives it the chance to get new stains from the washer! Its an endless cycle. Needless to say, I have NOT been impressed with this washer.
I had ancient appliances (refrigerator, microwave, range, and dishwasher) that were all mismatched and were in the house when I purchased it in the mid 1990s. I saved up my money and even though my old appliances were working fine, I wanted stainless steel and everything to match so I decided to go ahead and replace my refrigerator, microwave, range, and dishwasher. I decided on Whirlpool since the company has been making appliances for many years and I thought they made a good product. I bought those appliances in 2012.In 2015, the microwave started to malfunction. At first, it would light up and act as though it was working, but it wasnt. I had it repaired - they said it was a fuse - and the fuse repair cost me about $75.00. It worked for about 2-weeks. I called the repair guy back and they didnt charge me, thinking it was something they did wrong when they fixed it. This time it worked for about a week when it went out again. Not wanting to miss any more work waiting on a repair guy, I went to Lowes and bought a pack of the appropriate microwave fuses and replaced the fuse myself. This time it worked about three weeks - I noticed it was popcorn that seemed to kill the microwave. I finally gave up repairing it when I used up all the fuses in the pack from Lowes. I bought a GE Microwave and it has been a dream. It does a better job all around and looks a lot better than the Whirlpool. I no longer have matching appliances but at least they work! But thats not all. Now the Whirlpool refrigerator has been slowly dying. It has been groaning and creaking since I had it installed but it has gotten so loud that I have to sleep with white noise so that it doesnt wake me up. Yesterday, I took out a Drumstick ice cream cone from the freezer - they are the cones that have chocolate covered ice cream with nuts. I bit into the chocolate coating and the ice cream all spilled out like milk! Looks like Whirlpool struck again and I am not even going to bother to repair it. I just hope I dont get food poisoning until I can get it replaced. And...the dishwasher. Well, it wont dispense the Jet Dry liquid if I fill up the reservoir. I have to fill it only half way or it wont work. I had to use an eyedropper to get the tank down to half. It doesnt really get the dishes clean either. My 20+ year old one I got rid of was 100% better than this Whirlpool dishwasher.Luckily, I hardly ever use the range...and when I do, its a burner or two so I havent had any problem with it yet. I am thinking of replacing it anyway simply because I dont want - ever - anything that says Whirlpool in my home. I was so excited when I decided to buy new appliances. I was finally going to have something new and nice in my home...or so I thought. Instead I wasted my money and got aggravation instead of joy. I dont know about others but I will never buy Whirlpool appliances again- never ever. And now I feel like my money was stolen from me -- and my joy definitely was stolen.
I have always liked Whirlpool products but it seems lately they are lagging in this department. My washer/dryer combo each separate I dont feel are doing the job they should be. Washer is the bigger problem. Softner dispenser not distributing the softner correctly and now I have to clean out after each use. These are about 10 years old now. Is not spinning all the water out and not at all sure if clothes are getting clean. Most of their products usually lasted much longer back a few years.
This product is JUNK!! We replaced out hot water tank 1-07-11. Worked good for almost 9 months. Then the pilot light keeps going out. We have replaced everything three times already. Now we cant get it lit for nothing. Its blinking 7 times!!! This should not be happening. When you call Whirlpool, you always get some smart ** rep trying to solve your problems over the phone, telling you what its doing. Excuse me, your not here with it, I am. I even had the plumber on the phone, he got so mad at them, he handed me my phone back and said he is not dealing with stupid. They have no clue what they are talking about!! Its crap that we have to pay $30 for them to express mail a part when its the middle of the winter and we have no hot water. Im at my wits end with this hot water tank. Im ready to sue their butts. Sounds like to me by reading all these reviews, a lot of people are having the same issue. We need to do something about this. They had a suite against them but not for my water tank. They were replacing the parts. Ive spent over $1000 from buying it new, having it installed and paying for repairs on the hunk of junk!!!What can we do??? We need to take a stand against Whirlpool. We need to exchange information and contact an attorney and make them pay!!
The Whirpool refrigerator does exactly what its intended to do. It has no ice maker or water dispenser and thats just what I needed. But the plastic produce drawers do have some cracks because the quality of the plastic is not the best.
My husband and I purchased a Whirlpool Refrigerator, model number GI6SARXXF04, serial number K20311478 on February 3, 2012. It was delivered soon after. In April of 2012 our ice maker quit working. We called The Appliance Doctor for service. They reset the control, and left saying that they thought it was fixed. The ice maker as a result was not fixed. They came out again, and stated that the ice maker needed to be replaced altogether. So they ordered the part and we waited for two weeks for it to arrive and be installed. By this time it was April 23, 2012.Then in June of 2013 we began having water pool in the bottom of the refrigerator and freeze, and water began to leak onto our hardwood floors causing them to buckle. We cleaned it up for a while thinking perhaps something had spilled, and busted up the ice on our own. The beginning of 2014 we called for service from Lanny Adams Appliance. The technician worked on it and stated that something was plugged up in the water line and he thought it was fixed, we paid for this service on our own. On August 14, 2014 we had another technician come out because it was not fixed. The technician came out and stated that it would cost another $219.95. He further stated that he thought that there was a recall of some kind, that I should look into it. I did look into it and printed out the Technical Service Pointer that was produced in November of 2013. When I called Whirlpool at that point, someone was sent to fix it. Of course I had already paid to have it repaired in February of 2014, Whirlpool stated that it was not their responsibility, which again it was not fixed until August of 2014. As a further note, my floors were never fixed because I have hardwood floors throughout my house and simply cannot fix the area in front of the refrigerator. My floor had just been refinished, and after speaking with the floor company that had just refinished my floors a few months earlier, they stated all of the floors would have to be redone or it would not match. Figuring Whirlpool is definitely not going to pay for that, I have just dealt with it, since it cost me over $3000.00 to have the floors refinished. Now, it is February of 2015 and the whole refrigerator is not cooling, and the freezer is not freezing. Again, I woke up to water in the floor on my hardwood floors, and have had to move all of my food to my ten year old Frigidaire refrigerator that is in my basement and has NEVER had a service call. After speaking with service company, they state it will cost $1200.00 to fix the refrigerator....REALLY? So, now I get to go spend a lot more money for a new appliance. You can bet it WILL NOT be a Whirlpool!I contacted Whirlpool again, and I spoke with Robin in your Customer Service Department after speaking with one of your Customer Service Representatives that stated I was basically on my own with the repairs. Robin stated that there was nothing Whirlpool would do, but she would agree to pay for parts and I will be left with the repair labor. Although your company may think that this is good customer service, I have to disagree given the fact that I have had nothing but consistent problems with the refrigerator since I bought it. At this point, I would like to ask you if in your opinion this is a good appliance? I asked Robin and she stated that I needed to buy an extended warranty. Dont you realize it isnt about the warranty? It is about the fact that I have had the appliance for 3 years and have had consistent problems. I believe the refrigerator is a lemon, and I would like it replaced.I have always trusted the Whirlpool name, but at this point, I do not see myself buying another Whirlpool appliance.
I bought a Whirlpool refrigerator in February 2010 GS5VHAXWY00 side-by-side door ice maker. From the beginning, when crushed ice was used, the dispenser would freeze up. I had to remove the container to defrost. The container will not go back in place.Do not ever buy an indoor ice maker. I am out of warranty---very little help from Whirlpool customer service. They will be glad to send a service person.
I bought the Whirlpool Cabrio top loader set in 2006. Honeymoon was over after the first year and I had to change the dryer element then the washer with the F51 code six months later. Last year, I had to replace the heating element again! For the last six months, I have been dealing with the dreaded UL on the washer. I cant afford to pay a technician $100 to come out and tell me whats wrong let alone what they will charge to repair a problem that, from the looks of this message board, will never be fixed. I have no choice but to get it fixed in order to sell the ** machine. I paid $1400 for this brand new set and have already invested $500 in repairs. How is this possible? I had a 20-year-old machine prior to this and never had an issue. There are lemon laws for cars, why arent there any for appliances over a certain amount? How in this day and age can a company be allowed to sell such garbage? I will never, ever buy another Whirlpool appliance as long as I live. Any other brand can have my money any day.
First, the storage drawer doesnt close properly aligned. When viewed from the side it looks off kilter. This is because the foot of the range interferes with it closing. Second, what is with the bright blue color of the time/temp on the computer screen? Everything else in the kitchen is green, but now I have bright blue(?).
I bought a Whirlpool Duet Front Load Washer in 2008 and it began showing F71 and F70 error code in 2011. I paid approximately $1,000 for the machine. The washer wont finish the cycles and often wont start. When I press the power button, I hear the 3 beeps and after a while, shows the F71 error over and over. The information I gathered online indicates that many people have the same problem. The repair cost is at least $550 to replace the user interface circuit board and is no guarantee. This is ridiculous. How could GE sell consumers this kind of junk that fails to work only after 2 years. I had a top loader for 12 years with no problems, not a single repair call. My wife and I are extremely frustrated with piles of dirty clothes and no washer to clean them. I want GE to refund the cost of the washer on a 10-year prorated basis. This is only fair.
I purchased the Whirlpool Cabrio Washer WT5500XW2 from Lowes on 9/12/2012, which turned out to be the worst purchase of my life. It did ok for over a year. It had always been noisy. Now it sounds like a jet airplane when it is on the spin cycle. This machine is not yet 2 years old. Do not buy a whirlpool washer. They are Junk. Plan on getting rid of this piece of junk and buying a new washer. Dont waste your money on Whirlpool!
Purchased on Nov 2010 at Lowes. Washer machine sounds like an airplane on the wash and worst on the spin cycles. Bearings are gone!! Customer service was no help. Basically was told I was ** out of luck. Have service bulletin addressing this issue, yet they refused to help. $1300 learning experience about Whirlpool. Social media here we come. Goal: to keep at least 1 million customers away from their scrap!!
I purchased a Whirlpool 3-door refrigerator with the freezer on the bottom on 8/17/12. Within 4 days, the ice maker stopped working. It took two days for the repairman to come out and fix it. So all is well with that. Less than 2 weeks later, the refrigerator isnt cooling. Several days later, the repairman came and determined it was the evaporator fan motor and clutch. The parts were back-ordered for 10 days. Parts came in 2 more days before he can come out and install them. He realized they sent the wrong parts. Another week went by, then he came and replaced the fan motor, which is now making an ear-piercing buzzing sound. He came back a week later and said it needed a gasket, which is back-ordered. In the meantime, he put some stick on insulation around the unit. Not much help. Another week went by, and the gasket showed up. It is still making a high-pitched whining sound. He said it was the compressor. Whatever! I hate the refrigerator. The sound is one that just grates on your nerves and you can hear it in all the rooms surrounding the kitchen! A repairman has to deem it unrepairable before they will even consider replacing it. They consider it fixed. What about my bleeding ears! I just want it gone! I am so disappointed. I thought Whirlpool was a good product with a solid reputation. I have a $2300 noise maker! Is there a class action lawsuit?!
I purchase a new Whirlpool Calypso with Catalyst Washing Machine in 2006 after a house fire. Thinking that I was buying a great machine. I was so upset with my house burning that I never thought about the washing destroying my towels, rugs and sweaters until it was too late on the guarantee. I called the company and ask if there were any more complaints about this machine, and of course they said no. I ask if there was a recall and they said no. I told them that there needed to be a recall of this machine. I so want them to see the towels that I have to use. I am so embarrassed of my towels that I have to buy new when company comes. I made no difference on the price that I paid for the towels. They all were destroyed by this Whirlpool Washer. I have had enough, I am buying a new Washer and it will not be a Whirlpool. I believe that the right thing to do is for the Whirlpool company to put a recall on this machine and give our money back. I had a friend that is in charge of another washer company and had him to look at it. He said that if that was his customer complaining about his washer that they would automatically bring the customer another new machine. I wish I had went with his company. Shame on Whirlpool for treating their customers like they have.
Bought this microwave combo oven from Lowes. Went to change the charcoal filters, as specified by the owners manual, and the top cover and the side cover fell apart when I removed the filter cover screws. After two appointments the service tech came out for about 5 minutes to tell me that only mechanical failure is covered by the extended warranty which I also purchased from Lowes. The problem with Whirlpool is that they make the top cover, and some other parts, with cheap thin plastic which crumbles when exposed to heat. The repair tech said, Dont worry. Ill see what I can do. And then he left. Actually the warranty booklet said wear and tear is covered in addition to mechanical failure. Its inexplicable to me why any manufacturer would use cheap plastic for an over the range product. And I intend to fight this until I get this appliance repaired under warranty.
We purchased a Whirlpool Duet Sport Front-Loading washing machine December 5, 2006. Approximately six months later, the machine would not come on! Service determined the motherboard was faulty. Since it was under warranty, they replaced it. We continued to have the same issue with turning the machine on. The technician instructed us to hold the start button down for a minute or unplug the machine to reset it. The problem persisted. Now, we are told it needs yet another motherboard. Cost - $500! We paid about $650 for the machine! (The manufacturer only offers a one year warranty on the motherboard) What incentive do I have to purchase this part? After all, Whirlpool only warranties it for a year! That in itself, tells me they cant guarantee the quality of their product.
I bought a Whirlpool larder fridge 18 months ago. It suddenly stopped working so we got a service engineer up who said there was no gas. He said it would cost 50.00, but with no guarantee it would work afterwards.
Whirlpool Cabrio - We bought this washer in June 2013. The gearbox just went out (17 Nov 2015). Terrible product. We had to buy a new washer; and it wasnt a Whirlpool.
On 02/25/13 we purchased a Whirlpool Gold Series side by side (French door) refrigerator with an ice maker at the cost of $1,850.00. In April of 2014 the ice maker stopped working and the freezer at the bottom would not freeze food. Luckily for us it was still under warranty and was repaired. At the time of the repair, the repairman (associated with HHGregg) told us that the refrigerator should have been replaced since the cost of the repair was more than the fridge itself. Now July 20th, 2015, the same issue has surfaced. Again the ice maker will not work and the freezer wont freeze. I would not recommend this product or if you do pay the extended warranty.
