The washer is a lower priced but basic machine with few bells and whistles. However this is what we wanted. Less tech with less problems so for us it works. Does the job it is required to do. Cycles do take much longer than our old machine did. Probably due to water conservation.

I purchased an OTH microwave model #WMH1163XVQ-1 around 12/2011 from Lowe’s. Within a year, the paint started peeling inside of the microwave on the bottom. A few weeks ago, I noticed flames in the microwave and realized it wasnt my food but the microwave itself was on fire. Im glad I was close by to immediately turn it off. I hate to think what would have happened otherwise. Does anyone have any idea of what I can do about this? Would this still be under warranty? This is the first and last Whirlpool product Ill be purchasing.

On December 21, it became clear that I needed to replace our 13-year old Rheem water heater. We decided to buy one from Lowes, 36 miles away and have a handy man install it. He installed the new Whirlpool 50 gal gas water heater with a 12-year warranty on Friday, the 22nd, but could not get it to stay lit. He called Whirlpool to troubleshoot. They said it could be one of two parts and that they would ship the parts on the Monday after Christmas. He asked who would install and they recommended a local plumber. He called that plumber but they indicated they did not do Whirlpool warranty work and would have to charge. On Monday, I called Whirlpool and was assured the parts would be shipped that day for overnight delivery. I confronted them about the local plumber not doing their warranty work so they set up an appointment with a company called A&E for Wednesday morning. On Tuesday morning, I called Whirlpool to get the tracking number on the parts and was told that they did not get shipped on Monday as promised but would be shipped that day, arriving by the end of the day Wednesday, too late for the appointment for installation.By Tuesday night, my wife got on this site and was appalled to read the numerous identical complaints. I decided that Wednesday morning that I would hire a plumber to remove the Whirlpool and install another so we would not have a lifetime of problems from Whirlpool. The plumber installed a different water heater. It started right up and we have had no problems since. I got an R or RA number from Whirlpool which I think they only gave me because the parts had not arrived on time and I returned the piece of ** to Lowes for a refund. Lowes has a seven-day return policy of these.

I paid $1246 for a Whirlpool glass top range. This was not a cheap model, but I wanted it as the starting point of my new kitchen. After only about a year, we noticed that the area surrounding the operation controls was turning a funny color. On closer inspection, we noticed what appeared to be something peeling off, it was paint! The area surrounding the controls, which appeared to be brushed metal, was actually painted plastic! I was furious that an appliance at this cost level was made of plastic....really, a stove top made of painted plastic? I complained and after a huge fuss they agreed to come out and replace it ONCE. Well its been just over a year since they replaced it, and guess what? It is peeling off again!I dont know what to do, as Whirlpool obviously has gone the cheap end and doesnt want to fix problems. As others have mentioned, they say that it is JUST cosmetic, and they wont cover it under warranty...now my first new appliance for my first new kitchen since 1972 looks like crap! I should have kept my old avocado green appliances - they lasted over 40 years, still worked, and still looked good (except they were green). I wont ever buy another Whirlpool appliance. For those who mentioned that their appliance would turn on unexpectedly, please check recalls....this is one of the major problems on recall. Buyer beware!!!!

Whirlpool Du1100xtpb3 dishwasher: The spring on the latch keeps coming off
Whirlpool Du1100xtpb3 dishwasher: The spring on the latch keeps coming off (3 times in two months). The service repair man charged me for replacing the latch when all that was wrong with it was the spring. That being said, now we are fixing it ourselves. For your information, there is a paper in the bottom of the dishwasher that tells you what is wrong by how the lights are flashing. So each time we replace the spring, we have to reprogram it by pushing a sequence of buttons. Still, I cant figure why the spring wont stay on. Help me if you can.

The refrigerator is a Whirlpool Model #GSC25C6EYW0. We purchased it on September 17, 2013. So far we had to fix the ice maker, the drawer broke, the refrigerator cools unevenly. They tried to fix it but cant. Therefore, I cannot put tall things on the top shelf. Now it is not cooling and I have to repair or replace it.

Whirlpool Cabrio - I have had the same experience as those others that have written reviews - over $1,600.00 (on sale) - approximately 3 years old and I was just informed by a service repairman that water has leaked from the center of the tub into the motor and it is trashed. I went to the Whirlpool website to chat with a representative and they are sorry but unfortunately, we cannot guarantee there will be no repairs or parts replacements needed as components do deteriorate or fail on occasion due to factors over which we have no control - they went on to say that since the washer is approximately 3 years old there would be no assistance that we would be able to provide toward repairs. I agree that a class action suit should be considered since Whirlpool is taking no responsibility for a machine that costs too much - makes your clothes smell and lasts for such a short time. Highway robbery!! The dryer is no better but at least it is still working (today anyway!).

WFW97HEDW, WGD95HEDW American made and equivalent to LG and Kenmore. Size fitted our space available. Price was a bit higher than the Korean models with similar or better features. We bought and returned three consecutive Whirlpool models from Sears. Though we never really got to put the dryers to the test, nor did they fail, the washers were of such a poor quality that they broke down within 1-2 weeks of installation. Eventually we switched to LG and have had no problems. When the Whirlpool fails it locks your clothes inside and to open and retrieve your clothes is just short of impossible. We really, really really wanted to buy the American made brand and we were willing to pay the premium to do so, but these washers were awful.

I bought my new ceramic top electric range/oven with convection, and the aqua-lift cleaning system in spring 2017. The aqualift cleaning function is a joke, so be prepared to be down on your hands and knees scrubbing. Im careful, and Ive not spilled anything yet, but the oven still gets splatters from roasting meats, etc. Id hate to see what Ill have to deal with when I actually let something spill. Today, as I was down on my hands and knees trying to clean it, I noticed that the enamel is chipping off where the oven racks slide in. Great. I have never had an oven where the enamel came off, much less within a year. I am struggling with heart failure, and I am not up to fighting with Whirlpool.

We purchased Whirlpool sports model on 2/1/2011. We faced a problem with the motor in a month’s time. The service man told that there are fluctuations in the power so it went wrong. They replaced it after 15-20 days’ time. We also complained that it’s making noise and then he told that we should keep it on the stand. We did so, even then, it’s still noisy. Now about 3 weeks back, suddenly it stopped working during the wash. I never overloaded the washing machine. We complained to the dealer. The mechanic came and told that we had to replace some parts and he will get in a couple of days, but he never turned up. When we contacted the dealer, he said that the parts were unavailable and he will send them in a couple of days. I am fed up of that answer. We could have purchased IFB instead of this.

I bought the Whirlpool mini frig from Target 3 years ago thinking it was made by whirlpool in USA!!!! 1) not really made by whirlpool!! Made by Glantz from China. Common deception of USA and Chinese mfg to fool consumers is to license a well knownBrand to glantz in china. Glantz mfg almost all mini frigs under dozens of well known brands. Federal Trade Commission should ban this kind of deceptive marketing. Complain to the FTC Wash DC!!! 2) Chinese mfg gantz mfg defects and how I fixed them: A) back of freezer compartment open, freezer does not freeze B) 45f inside not 40f!!! C) defective thermostat remedies: 1) aluminum foil to seal back freezer 2) weather stripping around door to bring temp from f45 to 40f.D) used Youtube video to adjust defective thermostat, until I can find a replacement thermostat!!! Dys videos: watch youtube repair videos before you trash your frig. 2) check the country of origin, if its made in china, it will not last very long!! 3) buy an extended warranty for any chinese product. You can buy generic frig replacement parts on eBay!!Yes chinese products are cheap, but they do not last!!! One good thing!!! This is a very quiet frig.

Whirlpool microwave oven a few months old stopped working. Customer service center not helpful with prolonged holds (>30 minutes), no response to email, and amazingly no response to live chat. The 800 number was busy at one point for over an hour. When I finally did get thru, there was no coordination with local repair men, and a factory delay on the parts. I am going on 6 weeks without a functioning microwave and 3 kids at home. Thanks Whirlpool.

We bought a new oven/range in April 2019. December 7th 2019 it stopped working. No power at all. We contacted Whirlpool about our unit as it was still under the year warranty. They contacted their local repair company. 3 times they have said they were coming out to fix it and they had the part. Three times they have told us never mind. They didnt have the part and would have to come later. Most recent update, they wont get the part until the 20th and wont make it out until the 23rd. That is over 2 weeks after our unit broke and it is the holidays and we will have family visiting. We have tried to get answers about what is really going on and we keep being told they cant help us or give us any answers. So frustrated. You can bet I will never buy another Whirlpool appliance again!

My wife and I purchased our new home in November 2014. The house was a foreclosure and therefore owned by a title company who gutted the home and installed all new appliances. Less than a year of ownership, the ice maker on the side by side fridge broke after normal use. Not having proof of purchase, I appealed to Whirlpool given the nature of my situation. They did NOTHING but try and sell me a new service agreement they offer to have it fixed. They cared little about my brand loyalty, situation or circumstances - all they wanted was to make more money off of the consumer. What ever happened to companies being accountable for the products they produce? What ever happened to companies wanting to do the right thing in order to retain loyal customers and increase satisfied word of mouth? Stay clear of Whirlpool... Theyre only out for themselves.

In September 2011, we purchased a Cabrio Washer and Dryer. Both appliances are extremely inferior. My first complaint to Whirlpool was in reference to the dryer. It kept overheating to the point that you couldnt even touch the clothes. In doing research I found this was a common problem and in some cases, even caused fires. After finding this out and contacting Whirlpool to complain and see if there were any recalls, they indicated they knew nothing about the problem and recalls would have to come from their legal department. I asked to speak with someone in that department and was told that was not possible. We threw the machine away and purchased a new no frills dryer. Now the washer has totally died. It would make noises, lockup, not spin, not clean, etc. Basically all the complaints other consumers have listed. It is now on the curb and I will again have a purchase a new washer. The Whirlpool refrigerator I bought at the same time is a whole other story. Please do not buy Whirlpool. When contacted they show no empathy or concern about the inferiority of their products. There are only the 2 of us now and we do laundry one time a week. It amazes me how much money I am out between the initial purchases, repairs, and replacements. My daughter has also had the bad luck of purchasing Whirlpool appliances and is now experiencing the same problems. Get the word out to all of your friends to NEVER purchase Whirlpool. They are apparently only concerned with their profits and not making good products or caring about their consumers problems. I made a very expensive mistake and will never purchase their products again. I have made them aware that I would be placing my review on your website along with the other 1,690 complaints. I have all my documentation re purchases, repairs, replacements and emails sent to Whirlpool. Unfortunately I cannot document all the calls made to this company. Bottom line, Im very disappointed in the products and the lack of concern. Please do not purchase.

We bought a new Whirlpool dishwasher with a kitchen reno. It cost over $1000. One month out of warranty the pump died. As this is apparently a common thing with these dishwashers the company sent a new pump, free of charge, but we still had to pay $150 for the install. Now, less than 2 years after purchase, the dishwasher refuses to drain. I wrote to the company, they are not interested. Dont buy Whirlpool, you are only throwing money away.

Purchased Model # wtw5000DW0 Jan 3, 2015. Aug 15, 2015 started leaking water. Certified technician came to repair. Aug 17 - new transmission. Sept 3 replaced new transmission with another new transmission. Sept 8 called master technician at Whirlpool, needs new clutch assembly. Both technicians stated they dont know what is wrong with the machine. Sept 10 new clutch assembly and agitator replaced. The machine still makes a horrible grinding noise and is unusable. The technician has replaced everything but Whirlpool says it is still fixable. The Master technician has no idea what is wrong with my machine yet he refuses to call it broken. I have been without a washing machine for 3 1/2 weeks. They refuse to offer a return authorization number. I have spoken to a Supervisor on the phone. She states the warranty is for repair. They wont admit their product is a piece of garbage. They have lost a customer. She stated she will put my complaint in a file.

We bought a Whirlpool washer (Model # WTW4900BWO) and dryer (#WED4850BW) and within 2 months I was having problems with the washer AND dryer. Every time I washed a load of clothes, the clothes would have some yucky stuff hanging all over it. I called Whirlpool and was told to try setting the washer on 1 Rinse with Softener even though I never use a liquid softener. Their suggestion did solve the problem, but why doesnt a brand-new washer work the way its supposed to? A short time later, my dryer buzzer stopped working and the knob would not advance when set on the Energy Preferred setting. I called Whirlpool again and was told they did not have a service technician in the area where I lived and that it was not likely that one technician would come on the same day to service both machines. I asked why they would sell their products in an area where they were not willing to service them and they said that is the choice of the store that sold it to me. Then they told me there was a service technician available about 40 miles away and they would fax the order to them so they could contact me. The technician who came did look at both machines and was able to determine that the control panel needed replacing on the dryer, but was not able to do anything about the Rinse Option problem on the washer. He suggested that I continue to follow the recommendation of Whirlpool as long as it works. I can do that, but Im not happy that a new machine does not work the way its supposed to. He also recommended NOT using liquid laundry detergent or fabric softener in my washer because it contains animal fat and can build up and cause problems. Nowhere in the manual did it say that. He took the washer apart and showed me how it was already building up under the washer basket. I told the technician that my laundry has had an unpleasant odor to it when it comes out of the washer and even after it is dry. He said that might be because of the small amount of water that is used in the energy saving washer. If these problems cannot be resolved, I consider this washer to be a lemon and hope it will be replaced with a new one. If I had to do it all over again, I would buy a traditional washer. I liked the idea of conserving water, but not if my familys clothes stinks.

My water heater was installed in 2007 (model BFG2J5040T3NOV). It has required 3 repairs in 4 years because part failures make the pilot light shut off. The gas controller was replaced in 2008. The manifold/burner assembly was replaced in 2010. This month (August 2011), I have replaced the thermocouple, which did not fix the problem. Now I am having to replace the gas controller again. The part is failing, but not completely inoperable, so occasionally when on the phone with customer support, the pilot light would stay lit. When this happened, the tech would act as if the problem was solved and tell me to call back if the pilot light went out again. The next day, the pilot light would go out again. Thus, I have spent several hours on the phone with customer support running the same tests and answering the same questions over and over again.

Some years ago I bought a whirlpool water heater from Lowes and the thermocouple went out. No big deal, so I thought. I went to Lowes, picked up a new one and tried to replace it. It wouldnt thread even though the package stated it was for my model. I went back to Lowes and they gave me another one, same problem. So I called Whirlpool, they said it was a left handed thread and they discontinued it, but they could send me a conversion kit at my cost. So at that point I was 2 wks out so I paid for the kit. I received the same thing I bought from Lowes. I was so frustrated I ripped the thing out and got a new one. That was 2 yrs ago and now I am having the same problem. I called whirlpool and they want me to pay for the replacement part. Mind you, the heater has a 6-yr warranty. I went to Lowes and they wont replace it. They sell items that they dont stand behind. August 15, 2011 - We purchased a new Whirlpool Water Heater Model N50T61-40
August 15, 2011 - We purchased a new Whirlpool Water Heater Model N50T61-403 for $398 from Lowes. We used their recommended installer (that was our first mistake!). He made the following installation mistakes: 1. He connected the hot water to the cold water & the cold water to the hot water. 2. He installed DRYER venting instead of HVAC venting. 3. He used flammable tape on the venting instead of screws. 4. He had incompatible metals touching near the gas line which can create an electrical charge & thus, a sparking situation. 5. He left us with a gas leak. 6. He did not install the screen that is supposed to surround the base of the water heater.7. He failed to strap down the expansion tank. These failures were discovered by an HVAC person who was in our basement to give an estimate on a replacement of the furnace & AC coil at the same time this genius was installing our water heater. The installer overheard the comments & literally... he disappeared & we never saw him again! We told all of this to Lowes & they were not phased in the least -- indeed, they didnt even seem surprised! They sent out a few other guys from the same company to correct the errors. So, it finally was installed & passed the county inspection & we had hot water again... for a little while. Within a few months the water heater pilot light would not stay lit. I was having to relight it once a week or so. After much arm twisting, we were finally able to get Whirlpool to send out a new pilot light assembly and pay for the installation. It was installed July 25, 2012. And.... it worked for 8 months. After returning from a trip on April 30, 2013, we went to take showers & the water was cold. The same problem was happening again... The pilot light had gone out while we were out of town & it will not stay lit & I have to relight it every 2-3 days.We talked to an assistant manager at the Lowes store where it was purchased. He talked to Whirlpool & Whirlpool said they would pay for the parts but not the service call which would be $149. I also learned today from the same manager that Whirlpool will not replace the product until they have replaced the same parts three times. Hmmmm.... Lets do some basic math here. $149 x 3 = $447! Thats MORE than the water heater cost! We believe that the water heater has been defective from day one & we also contend that their replacement part for the pilot light assembly is also defective (by design??). A pilot light assembly should last longer than 8 months! We are getting ready to build a new home within the next year. We will get to choose our supplier & the manufacturer of the appliances that will be in our home. Needless to say, Lowes will not be on the list. They keep saying, Our hands are tied. (Not buying it!) And Whirlpool will definitely be off of our list as their customer service is the worst Ive ever seen & their product quality is sub par. The other thing I experienced with Lowes was that when I tried to leave a review on their site for this specific product... twice... both reviews were rejected. The reviews presented the facts as Ive stated here, but because they showed Lowes & Whirlpool in a negative light, they were not posted on lowes.com. So, consumer beware -- their reviews are heavily screened so that the negative reviews rarely get posted. The consumer should be aware that the reviews on Lowes website are heavily screened & therefore do not equally represent consumers who have had a negative experience. This is an integrity issue.

We purchased an Estate Washer for my 89-year-old mother in 2008. The paint has been peeling down to bare metal on the left top quarter from the corner down to the lid hinge for the past 2 years. I contacted customer service and was given probable causes, one of which was the washer might have gotten dusty! He said that could cause chipping. I reminded him the problem is peeling chunks, no chips, layers of paint. The warranty expired of course. The solution he offered was for me to buy paint from Whirlpool or Lowe’s, and paint it. I have had a Kenmore washer for 24 years. The paint is perfect, and it still runs great. I would never buy another Whirlpool product. The quality is atrocious.

I am sorry to have updated that review 2 years later. Whirlpool has actually contacted me after posting on their Facebook support group. I am not sure how it happened but I was contacted by their executive team who is WAY more professional and efficient than their support team. In a matter of days my washer was replaced and installed by a new one - the closet available to the model I had - I did not pay a penny and no questions asked even though the washer was out of warranty. So my answer to you is when you are stuck do your best to talk to the executive team!

After years, the gas hot water heater model fg1f5040t3nov went out. The plumber had me get a new part. 2-3 weeks ago, it went out again. I am trying another new igniter assembly. If it goes again, Im getting a new heater - not a Whirlpool! My plumber says he can get me a new one for a little more than I spent on the Whirlpool, and its much more dependable.

My girlfriend lives in Europe and bought a Whirlpool stove and countertop burner. She was washing dishes and heard a sound like a crack and she looked around the kitchen to find out where it came from. She looked at her stove top and there was a vertical crack down the center of it. It was turned on, no one was using it but it cracked. She tried to get a replacement glass top and the store told her they were not available. I sent an email to Whirlpool to find another one and never heard back from them. I sent a second email and that was left unanswered. After this I would never buy another stove or stove top made by Whirlpool again. Knowing that KitchenAid was bought out by Whirlpool these comments dont surprise me one bit. Whirlpool is another name for poor quality and no service.

This is the worst washing machine I have ever owned. I have had the Whirlpool Cabrio for less than three years, (4 people I use it for), and it is so loud when it is in the spin cycle, you think a jet airplane is taking off inside your house! Apparently the bearings go out of these machines when you use them! I called the company and all they want to do is sell me an extended warranty for over $300.00 for another year! Not doing that! I paid over $1,000.00 for this machine. I thought it would last a long time! Wrong! Please save your money and get a simple old fashioned one! I sure wish I had! Whirlpool doesnt care about their customers, or they would stand behind their products!

2016 Cabrio Washer - I had an 11 year old Maytag washer that finally gave up so rather than go through the repair I decided to upgrade to a new washer dryer and went with the Whirlpool Cabrio W/D pair. I am shocked at the washers inability to clean even the most basic of stains. I have to pre-treat clothes like never before, have tried every type of wash cycle offered and cant believe the amount of time it takes to clean clothes. Over one hour??? My Maytag may have agitated the heck out of a load but in less than 30 minutes everything was clean. Ive had to re-wash load after load of the most basic everyday stains. I was hoping the larger drum would allow me to cut my laundry time down but that is not the case, and find myself putting a few things in at a time so they get washed. Im stuck with this piece of crap and have only had it for one month... Cant wait for it to start breaking down and dealing with repairs as so many of these comments mention. I miss my Maytag!!!

In April of 2016 I purchased an aqua clean self cleaning oven from Colders Furniture in West Allis Wisconsin. We were told by the sales associate that the oven was top of the line. This was a complete and utter bold face lie. I cleaned the oven for the first time the day after Christmas after having prime rib. I followed the instructions to a T on how to clean the oven. I had to turn the oven on 6 times and scrubbed the oven until my fingers were bleeding, not to mention the enamel on the inside of the oven is completely bubbling. I called the customer care center on December 31, 2016 and the representative basically said I was an idiot and did not know how to cook. They made an appointment to send a technician out on 1-5-2017. Before hanging up the phone the technician informed me that if there was nothing wrong with it that I would have to pay for the call. At this time I became irate and refused telling them that I have not even had the stove for 8 months and that it was still covered under extended warranty. I will see what kind of smoke is blown up my rear end. The technician is sending a new sponge and scraping stick. How about someone to also clean this piece of garbage. My advice is to anyone is if anyone tells you to buy an Aquaclean self clean oven from Whirlpool run in the other direction and do not buy it. Thanks Whirlpool for the garbage and for sending me cleaning products that are not even worth a damn.

On 12/27/2013 I bought a Whirlpool hot water heater from Lowes Model NU50T122-403. On 12-13-2015 the pilot went out. When I called tech support on 12-14-2015 they gave number what were call centers or person who returned the calls. So I called a local plumber that I used before. He came out and told me that had to replace the pilot. On the 16th 2015 of Dec. that did not work and told us the heater needed to be replaced. The replacement will happen today I hope with little to no help from Whirlpool. I would advise you to do your homework before you buy a Whirlpool hot water heater.

Whirlpool Duet Sport W & D purchased from Costco in mid 2007 for $1600. Costco gives an additional one year warranty, totaling three years. Both have worked exceptionally, I must say -- clothes come much much cleaner, keep their color, and last much longer vs. top loaders (Im sure the water softener helps). Two separate techs just confirmed the circuit boards went on the washer ($450 with labor) to replace. Washer looks brand new, but now will be going to the curb.

Purchased side-by-side model fridge, and within a month, the ice-maker froze up. Within a year, the relay switch failed, and caused the compressor to fail. What a lemon. Also, the clear bins in the door of the fridge side, have all cracked. Whirlpool says it is a cosmetic issue, but I think it is hazard and a material processing failure during their manufacturing process. They obviously would not cover any cosmetic issues under the warranty.I was one of the lucky ones, at this point, as the repairs were under warranty (expensive compressor, only by one week), had to buy an extended warranty to cover me in the future. I was only out the cost of extended warranty, and a fridge full of food. Lucky me. Customer service is worthless for any issues. I dont think Ill buy another Whirlpool product again. Buyers beware.

We purchased a Whirlpool Duet machine in September 2010. About a year ago, I started noticing tears and stains on clothing. Luckily, it was always on a washcloth or blanket, nothing special. Last week, it tore a 3-inch hole in my good jacket. I was not happy! My husband and I checked inside the drum and all around the seal. Neither of us found any rough edges. I thought if I called Whirlpool, they might have had a recall. They assured they had never heard of this problem. REALLY!!! Just look at all these e-mail complaints. When I first bought this machine I loved the big tub, but I was concerned that there was no agitator. It confuses me how clothes can get clean if there is nothing to rub them again. Even in the olden days they rub clothes against a board. Well my concern is valid and I believe the washing machine industry needs to go back to the old model, as this new version does not work. Here are all the problems: 1) The machine judges how much water to put in. This doesnt work. I follow the directions and outline the perimeter and dont overload, yet still it just barely puts in enough water to make the clothes wet. Im all for conserving the environment, but enough water needs to be provided to actually get the clothes clean. I would like to be the judge of how much water should be used, so I would like to be able to tell the machine if it is a small, medium or large load. I do believe that the lack of enough water is why the clothes do not come out as clean as they should and why they end up smelling (see #4). 2) There is no agitator, so there is really nothing available to help clean the clothes. Spinning them around like a maniac is not enough, which leads me to the next problem. 3) The clothes come out twisted terribly and then many times come out of the dryer wrinkled because of how hard they were twisted. I tried to select a less harsh spin cycle, but then the clothes are too wet to put in the dryer. There is no happy medium.4) Biggest problem to date: Our clothes/towels have all started smelling. You know that smell when you leave your clothes in the washer too long (like two days) and then put them in the dryer? Its that smell. The clothes/towels dont smell when you immediately take them out, but they do smell at any bit of moisture. When I dry myself off after the shower, I notice the newly washed bath towel smells like a wet dog. I have used the pods, liquid detergent and powder. I dont remember having the smell problem when I first bought the machine and used powder, so I just returned to using powder today. (Ive even tried doubling up on the pods, but the clothes still smell.)This leads me to problem number 5: When using powder in this machine, the machine does not empty the powder container completely, and so the clothes do not get the required amount of detergent. Often there are clumps left over in the powder dispenser, but not always. (This is what led me to go to the pods and liquid detergent in the first place.) But at least with powder (I use Gain) my towels dont stink after the first time I used them.I wouldnt recommend this machine. I really researched machines before I purchased this one, but they all had bad reviews, so how do you pick? And I never look at the good reviews because we all know so many people are paid to rave about products they know nothing about, or it is a company employee writing the review. This machine is a huge disappointment. I am going to try adding a rinse cycle like a previous reviewer suggested. Maybe the extra water will help with the smell. Of course this is not good for the environment though, so this whole way of making washing machines with no agitator and limiting water defeats the energy efficient goal.

Two days after the one year warranty ran out on our front load washer it started making a terrible noise. Of course the Whirlpool warranty was no longer in effect. The good news I was sold an extended warranty from Nebraska Furniture Mart. Called the Service Provider and was told they will only service the washer if it is not working. After several more calls they scheduled a service call in 10 days. We are a family of four, yes no washer is a problem. Finally the technician showed up and said the main bolt holding the drum assembly in place had broken off. He would have to order the bolt. It is now on backorder for 3 weeks. No washing machine for 4 people and now nearly a month is a pain. Not only did my calls to Whirlpool do nothing but the calls to the third party Warranty Company have been very frustrating. My call to the salesperson at NFM was very helpful, but didn’t help get our washer fixed. This is our second and last set of Whirlpool laundry pairs in less than four years.

You Have Been Warned! Do Not Buy A Whirlpool. We bought this Whirlpool washer from Lowes. It is a top loader without the agitator in it. The sales pitch was very good. One of the best washers on the market. It was less than 1 year old when it started getting out of balance. We would stop it and rearrange the clothes and start it back up. Over a few months it just got worse. Now, it will scare you when it gets out of balance. You cant set within 5 of it or it will run you over when it jumps, but you have to set close enough monitoring it or it will run out the door of the utility room after you. Now, I find out the Maytag has bought Whirlpool Corp. Not a good move for them. Whirlpool has mess its own name up, why would Maytag want any part of it? I dont think I will trust Maytag anymore either for fear it may be a Whirlpool.

Cabrio washer and dryer are not energy saver by any means! Have had the pair for almost 1 year and have spent at least 3 years of washing and drying time with these. What use to take 30 minutes to wash now takes at least 48 or more and the dryer has to be run twice on lots of loads to dry! The other thing is, with no water in the tub it really does not have a soak cycle to get really dirty stuff clean, so you wash things 2 or 3 times! Now I know why I see these washers and dryers like new in the used stores for $200 to $300. Thanks for the junk Whirlpool.

I purchased an expensive dishwasher made by Whirlpool and sold at Lowe’s. Immediately upon receiving the dishwasher I noticed a good size scratch. I had it serviced within one month of purchase because dishes were coming out dripping wet. Technician came out and told me I needed to add rinse aid. I had been using rinse aid, which I think is ridiculous to have to buy an additional bottle of something that’s not even cheap just so this thing dries dishes but moving on...Now it’s been 1.7 years and I’m having more problems. Top rack of dishwasher is broken and falls to the side every time you pull it out. The door to dishwasher also no longer has any spring. I take very good care of my things and this just unbelievable. I called Lowe’s they won’t help because it’s been more than a year! I guess Lowe’s can’t stand behind their merchandise for more than a year because they know they’re selling garbage. I called Whirlpool directly and was told they would come out and service my appliance for a minimum charge if $189! I have no words. We purchased this refrigerator towards the end of 2008. The entire interior of the refrigerator is imploding. The plastic Whirlpool used to frame the glass shelves is cracking and shards are falling off. There are 3 drawers; one has already fallen because the plastic sliders the drawer moves along has disintegrated. We noticed the small hairline cracks appearing some time ago but never thought they would go to this extreme. Apparently the plastic used cannot stand up to cold temperatures.I contacted Whirlpools chat and was told that the product is out of warranty and I need to place a service call to get new parts. I proceeded to email the CEO of Whirlpool, Mr. Fettig because I dont believe I should have to pay for a service call when its a manufacturing problem. I received a call the day after and was told the same thing; that they are sorry we are experiencing a problem but the warranty only covers the first year. I was told that if there was a problem with the plastic being inferior that they should have cracked in the first year. I responded that the cracks may have been occurring early on in the back of the refrigerator which is the coldest part but were noticeable. Its very frustrating because a refrigerator purchase is expensive and not something that I planned on doing a mere 5 years later. I believe that Whirlpool at the very least could have shown goodwill towards their customers and given at least some discount on the replacement parts or at the very least a certificate with an amount off toward the purchase of a new refrigerator. Its a win-win situation for everyone because the customer is still happy with their Whirlpool refrigerator and/or it guarantees repeat business for Whirlpool. Apparently Whirlpool doesnt care about keeping customers happy and want and/or need repeat business. Its the last Whirlpool I will ever purchase!!!

NU40T61-403 have had problems since day one. First problem was while heating up would make loud humming noise. Whirlpool sent out plumber. He adjusted plate under tank. That worked for about 2 months. Then pilot started going out. They send same plumber out again, also sent replacement part. Problem was fixed however about 2 months after that started leaking and flooding our garage. Called company again, was told that is no longer under warranty and stated we need a thermal expansion tank. I stated “why would we need this? This unit is only a little over a year old. Im not going to purchase another tank. A water heater should not overheat like this.” Long story short my husband has been burnt severely from the pressure build up as he was out in our garage walking past the tank when it decided to release pressure even though no water was being used at that time. He ended up at the ER with 2nd-3rd degree burns. I called Whirlpool again and was only told we need to install the expansion tank. Purchased 29 cu ft French door Bottom Mount Refrigerator 9/5/2013. The ice machine started leaking continual water by August 2015 and by October 2015 the freezer quit working. Have had it repaired once and the second time the repairman said we need a new evaporator and condenser. Called Whirlpool and they said since it is out of warranty we are on our own. According to both repairman this is a common problem with this model (WRF989SDAW00). I understand that appliances break and they need repaired; however, you would think a refrigerator that cost over $3000 would last longer than 2 years. This is my third Whirlpool refrigerator. The first two lasted about 20 year
This is my third Whirlpool refrigerator. The first two lasted about 20 years each, and although not fancy, they were always serviceable. This one is different.Because of my kitchen cabinets, the only refrigerator with as much storage capacity (cu ft) as my old one was what seemed to be an almost identical Whirlpool, with the only exception being a slight difference in the ice maker. But this one is a disaster. The water/ice dispenser has been changed to one with one space only for your container. The water that comes out is warm, because the routing of the tube has been changed and it no longer goes through the chilled refrigerator space; the ice pours out so hard that usually half of it lands on the floor. In order to operate the dispenser using anything with less than a 4 diameter, you need two hands: One to depress the lever behind your glass and one to hold the glass farther away from the refrigerator. Failure to do that results in a wet mess. After dispensing crushed ice, it continues to send small pieces flying long after I change the switch to cubes. But that is the least inconvenience. In an apparent engineering change to meet energy efficiency, the new refrigerator recycles air from the freezer to the refrigerator compartment. That and other changes in the frost-free engineering have resulted in:Uneven cooling in the refrigerator. In fact, it froze $1800 worth of insulin pens. I was advised by the Whirlpool representative that I shouldnt have put them on the shelf where the vent from the freezer spews out freezing air. Spoiled food in the freezer. Everything in the freezer develops a thick coating of ice crystals within a short time. This dries out the meat, shrinks the popsicles, and destroys the quality of fish and fowl. At this moment, I have two pork chops that defrosted in a plastic container on my kitchen counter. I bought them fresh, and now the 10-12 oz. of pork is swimming in over 1/2 c. of water.Interior fittings are poorly made and shelves and drawers do not work easily. The allegedly stainless exterior is difficult to clean, and many reviewers have remarked that they find rust within a few months. I could go on. There is more poor engineering, and an array of noises filling the kitchen, but you get the picture. I wish I could trash this refrigerator and buy a good one, but that isnt feasible both because of budgetary and space constraints. The last service person who came out sighed and told me that the refrigerator was cold, and that meant that the unit was operating okay! I HATE this refrigerator and struggling with it from day to day. My hope is that no one will buy a Whirlpool ever again. I certainly wont.Updated on 12/05/2017: Whirlpool, faced with my wrath over a refrigerator set on LOW that froze $1800 worth of insulin, provided a replacement (25 Cu Ft side-by-side refrigerator). I have owned two previous Whirlpool refrigerators -- for 20 years each -- as well as other Whirlpool major appliances. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER WHIRLPOOL APPLIANCE. The replacement is deficient in every design and functional aspect I can think of. Temperature is uneven in both freezer and refrigerator. Food in the freezer is coated with snow within a week and dried out and spoiled within a month. Ice comes out with such force that it ricochets out of the glass and around the floor. Water from the dispenser is warm. Leafy vegetables spoil within 2 days. Whirlpool sent technicians who informed me that the unit was working properly because it was cold. PIECE OF JUNK! DONT BUY ANYTHING MADE BY WHIRLPOOL!

Same problem a lot of people have written about in your forum. Purchased a double door stainless steel refrigerator, bottom freezer, # GX2SHBXVY from Sears Canada on 12/17/2011. Warranty expired December 2012. Now we have ice forming on the floor under the bottom freezer though water hasnt seeped out as we are now cleaning it daily. Sears wants to charge $75 per hour + parts as there is no extended warranty. Whirlpool says its a common problem with most other Competitor models too. REALLY, ITS NOT. Have checked with a lot of friends of mine with similar models. Nobody is having a problem with especially units hardly one and a half years old. My bro-in-law also bought a Whirlpool a year prior to mine. He is having no problems. See no reason to spend $300-$400 on a comparatively new unit. Also have a 7-month-old stainless steel Whirlpool dishwasher and 4-year-old Gold Accura cooking range. Now spend morning and nights looking at them wondering when they are gonna blow. Need to replace my washer/dryer too but guess which brand I am not opting for.

How would you like to be without a refrigerator for 10+ days? How do you justify 10 days without a service tech being available for what I call an emergency! My case, a tech shows up after waiting 10 days, to tell me my refrigerator needs all the parts. Which means Ill have to wait probably another 2-3 weeks for the parts to arrive. Im sure the parts werent ordered to be expedited. Im beyond furious. We lost everything in our freezer. Doesnt stay frozen in coolers. When we purchased the refrigerator, just under two years ago, the service tech was out three separate times because our ice maker kept going on the blink. Finally, I purchased ice maker, because your refrigerator only makes ice when it wants. Not reliable! Second problem, the lights in refrigerator & freezer went out. Real smart to install LED lights that can only be replaced by a technician. Insane for the consumer. (Cost of lights replaced w/o warranty contract is $100). DONT BUY WHIRLPOOL PRODUCTS UNLESS YOU ENJOY MISERY!!Why would you put glossy black finish on front of refrigerator, and the sides have black texture, where you cant see fingerprints. Has to be cleaned daily! Hope you can rectify the problem before two more weeks pass. Model: WRS322FDAB. SERIAL#: HR72710418. Not a fan of your lemon of refrigerator. I have owned two different Whirpool washers over the last several years, and they have both been a very big disappointment. More than that they have cost me money, time, and peace of mind. The Duet was my first experience with a Whirlpool appliance. It was a front load that I replaced the water pump on twice and constantly had to take the front bottom piece of the washer off to clean the trap on. It had been taken off so much that the machine actually just fell apart. It also had some type of mold or mildew problem where it made the clothes smell. It was a constant headache.I was stupid and allowed a salesperson from HHGregg to talk me into purchasing the Whirlpool Cabrio washer. Another huge mistake. Again, cost me time, money and peace of mind. I have owned the washer for a COUPLE OF MONTHS, and the clothes that I have washed smell so bad that I cannot use the washer anymore. I tried to call customer service, but it is impossible to get any help because the lines were so backed up, I have not had the time to sit and wait for an available person. Not to mention there is an extensive process of pushing lots of buttons before you are put on hold to presumably talk to a human being. I assume this is because so many people are having so many problems with their Whirlpool appliances. It is not surprising. I bought a new washer, a GE. It is awesome! When I have the patience and the time, I will try to call Whirlpool again and see if they are willing to do anything about the washer that at this point is just sitting in my garage taking up space. I spent around $600 on a washer I only got a few months of use out of. When we moved it to the garage, we could hear water swishing around, which explains the horrible smell of the clothes. Once I started having the issue, I went online to see if this was an easy fix, and it turned out that LOTS of other people are having the exact problem, to the point where people are trying to get a class action suit going. Do yourself a favor and avoid the hassle of dealing with this company. If you purchase a Whirlpool washer, I guarantee you will be sorry. Trust me, I was stupid enough to do it twice. Hope this helps someone avoid the headache these appliances have given me.I will never buy Whirlpool again. And by the way, Maytag is made by as well as the following: Admiral (Canada), Chambers, Coovert (acs), Crosley (newer fridges, a/c, washers), Danby (8, Estate, Inglis, Ikea, Kenmore (see Sears), KitchenAid (4), Kirkland, Maytag Epic®, Roper, Speed Queen (Canada only), Sub Zero (undercounter ice makers), Whirlpool.

Purchased on 7/9/18, was alerted of gas leak on 11/24/18, gas company had shut off gas to the unit. After finally getting through to their customer service in December, they scheduled an inspection with a local repair company they contract. It is now January 15, 2019 and I still have not had any resolve to this. Whirlpool is washing their hands of any responsibility, and doing nothing to help find a solution for a defective burned out piece in their oven, which the repair tech said he’s only seen in units over 10 years old. I do not feel confident or safe about this range. I bought this new from Best Buy, 4.5 months of having this in my home, after 1 oven use this happens.

Bought a Whirlpool fridge (WRF560SFHZ) 3.5 years old not cheap! Suddenly one day, the freezer drawer cannot close properly. Since it broke down on a long weekend, I have to wait 3 days in order to contact Whirlpool customer services. And then wait for another 4 days for them to send a technician. The technician advised it is a screw on the rail fall down and he fixed it and charged as 115CAD repairing fee (for a loose screw). He said it is a product defect from Whirlpool and that we should call Whirlpool to ask for a refund.Of course after a long wait from the hotline, Whirlpool refused to refund, saying that, It is not within warranty period and it is perfectly normal that you paid for 17** CAD fridge and can only used for 3,5 years and that things happens (screw can get loose). The service rep. even said, You bought it, it is your property now... And they dont care you have to throw away food in the freezer since the door cannot be closed. And of course they refuse to admit that the product has an inherent defect... Will never buy this brand ever again!

I bought a whirlpool washer from Whirlpool on February 27, 2011. Since then, they have come out and repaired the washer for 5 times. They have even taken the whole motor out, and replaced it. The last time they came, they said I would have to pay for the next time. Now, it has broken again, and I have to pay for a washer repair that is less than a year old. We bought the Whirlpool washer at Sears, and neither Sears, nor Whirlpool will stick by their product. We cannot afford another new washer, and to pay for repairs is a stretch too. Is there anything you can do?

I purchased this Whirlpool washing machine model# WTW4950XW2 and after 10 months of use, it broke down. The repairman fixed it (gear box) and said that the motors and the control boards went bad. I didnt get a weeks use out of it because the motor went bad. He came and fixed the motor and it didnt work once after that. I called Whirlpool up and they sent their serviceman out twice and they didnt do much but reprogram it and both times it didnt do one full cycle. Now they (Whirlpool) are going to put a new control board in and hope it works. Whirlpool wants me to get another years warranty on the machine & charge me $100 and not do anything about all the money I spent going to the laundromat (2 months worth) while this machine was not working. There should be a recall on this machine for replacement & reimbursement of all the time and money lost.

I had a Whirlpool GI7FVCXWY01. Purchase 3/13/2010. I had repairman after repairman come to fix it. The last one probably saved my family and my house. The light in the back corner was not only blinking, but flashing rapidly, much like some wild party light. It eventually stopped. The freezer works perfectly fine, the fridge works when it wants to. The ice maker makes ice some days but not others. The motor on the ice dispenser is completely frozen up. Does that all sound about right? If it does, clean it out and cut the power to it before someone gets electrocuted or your house catches fire.If you cant find the electrical diagram, or the company wants $455 to answer your questions, look under the right side of the freezer draw, but not on the draw. Remove the guard on the very bottom of the unit, near the wheels on the right side. You will feel a plastic bag attached to the underside. Inside that bag is the complete diagram of all the wiring harnesses along with the schematic for the amps and voltages for each wire. Are they telling your circuit board is bad and you will need a new one? Before you do that, inside the fridge compartment, in between the water filter and the ice maker, remove the light cover. Notice that inside that space is the access to another panel. Remove that panel. BE SURE THERE IS NO POWER RUNNING TO THE UNIT FIRST. Here you will find a connection plug with more or less 15 wires that are connected to the main wiring harness. Above that plug you will find a holding chamber. This holding chamber contains water from the filter that is waiting to go to the ice maker. It has dripped condensation on the plug since the day you first turned on your fridge. Your wires are most likely broken and corroded. You will need to have your unit completely rewired, but because of the design flaw that fix will only buy you another 4-5 years. My Whirlpool GI7FVCXWY01 left yesterday 5/15/2014 and none too soon.

I called Costco and they contacted Whirlpool who sent out a service person on October 25. I am still without a working refrigerator and it is November 9, 2017 as I am told that a circuit board needs to be located.I have called both Costco and Whirlpool and no one seems to be worried about it. I was told by Whirlpool that if a part is not available by end of day Friday November 10 that I will be considered for a replacement. Considered really? I have never experienced such deplorable customer service on both Costco and Whirlpools part. It appears that this model is a lemon as there are large numbers of complaints on numerous websites. I asked for a refund due to the bad reviews and lack of parts and was denied. I will call on Friday for an update.

I CANT use the icemaker or the water feature which I paid extra to have. What a piece of Junk. The people at Whirlpool will just say, Did you purchase a warranty? YOU SHOULDNT HAVE TO HAVE IT FIX WHEN ITS ONLY 2 YRS OLD!!!!!! They are so greedy, they make junk so that you spend more money on repairs or extended warranties. Whirlpool Dishwasher model # WDT720PADB. Replaced an old Maytag that was 12 years old; cleaned great but finally the pump gave out. From the first day that we cleaned dishes with the new Whirlpool, the dishes were not as clean as the old Maytag and totally wet even when the heated dry cycle was on. Repeated calls to Whirlpool customer service and two technician visits and still the same results. We end up drying every load by hand. Now after 14 months (two months out of warranty) only the silverware wash jets are working with all other zones inoperative. This machine is a plastic piece of junk and all it takes is one look at the cheap construction and components to say that Whirlpool engineers are competing with the Chinese made brands. Whirlpool/Ikea Renlig dishwasher - Since installing this integrated dishwasher it has continuously destroyed the decorative panel door. On my model (they have recently changed in 2014) the steam exits at the top, this damages whatever it comes into contact with it. Today they are saying that it has not been installed correctly and that it should actually sit out from the countertop, i.e. jut out from the rest of the kitchen so that the steam can vent into the room. The panel should also be lower than the other doors of the kitchen cabinetry too. Hardly integrated and would be a bloody eyesore. I am about to call them back again and inform them that I will be making a scene about this in my local Ikea and with anyone else who cares to listen.

Purchased a Whirlpool double oven (WGE745COFH) in September 2018. It is now May 2019. After 5 service technicians verified the erratic temperature fluctuations in the ovens, Whirlpool insists that a +25 degree to -25 degree fluctuation in a heating cycle is normal. The motherboard was changed 3 times, and the sensors were changed 3 times, including hard-wiring the last set of sensors. I called Whirlpool and customer service says that is normal. Ever tried baking at a 350 degree setting that fluctuates from 375 degrees down to 312 degrees while trying to maintain a 350 degree setting? I understand there has to be some fluctuation, but either it took a lot of extra time or burned my food consistently. Ridiculous. So, with the help of wonderful people at Lowes (where I purchased the double oven) Whirlpool is refunding my money and Lowes has taken back the slide-in double oven. In my quest to replace it, multiple appliance sellers have told me that all the new ovens having motherboards and sensors have big fluctuations in the oven heating cycles. I find that unacceptable. My husband and other family members have worked daily in an industry where temperatures were critical. They used ovens that could maintain temperature within 5 degrees of set temperature with analog controls. The home consumers are being ripped off with cheap, sub-standard parts making throw away appliances and getting away with it. What do I buy? Havent figured that out yet, but have purchased a countertop toaster oven that bakes beautifully.

This is Whirlpool model MVWP835DC2. I bought brand new. Recently used about once a week. Got an alarm that indicated no communication to core unit. Talked to Whirlpool service and unit is out of warranty (20 months) and advised I should use authorized service company to come and diagnose. This took 2 weeks. Service man came, washer did not power up. He quoted that repairs would be $750 and not worth it, buy a new one. I went on internet and found YouTube videos that showed how to diagnose and fix. I called Whirlpool for new console, $350 and one month. Went to parts house and got part for $250. This fixed problem.I have a few problems with this machine and company. 1) This now turns out to be a known problem with these machines. The console fails. I am not sure how this is going to last 30 years. 2) Service man took nothing apart and could not diagnose problem with no power. He quoted $350 for the console and the balance for the core. He was guessing or pulling a scam. Take your choice.3) Part not available from Whirlpool because so many are failing. Thanks for making a great product.

The top basket/drawer has latches that get tripped allowing the basket to drop down and confusing my wife. Not the best arrangement IMHO. Seems like the spacing of the supports in the bottom basket are off, but that may be due to our plates and bowls shapes.

But the 1900.00 I paid for them was not worth the price. I now have to go up and down my cellar stairs 6 times per wash to stop it, shake the hose, and restart it. On 1/24/12, I replaced a 15 year old water heater that had started to leak
On 1/24/12, I replaced a 15 year old water heater that had started to leak after years of faithful service. The new Whirlpool unit heated water to a tepid level only, and that was obtainable only after running several faucets at a time, full bore. I used the product manual to trouble-shoot and was unable to find the problem, so I called Whirlpool customer service and was told that I would need to have a plumber come and and inspect the plumbing before a technician could be sent to check the water heater. I was not very happy about that, but complied. The next day, a plumber inspected the lines and fittings, tested the pressure and agreed that the problem was likely a faulty water heater. That cost me $95.00. I called Whirlpool again. This time, I was told that I should have had the plumber call Whirlpool while he was still at my home! The customer service representative agreed to authorize a service call, and I was given the phone numbers of three companies to choose from. Apparently, I chose wrong. The plumber seemed experienced and was very friendly. He was at our home for about 40 minutes, made a cursory inspection and said the problem did indeed seem to be with the unit, and he would return to his office to contact Whirlpool and arrange for a replacement unit and he would call back. Tellingly, I realize in retrospect, he did not give me a receipt. After several hours, I called the company and was told Whirlpool had not yet called them, and if I did not hear from them soon, I should call Whirlpool myself. This seemed reasonable to me, and I did so, at which point I realized I had been lied to from the start. The Whirlpool representative said that the service technician stated that he had run an isolation test, obtained hot water from the water heater, advised the homeowner (me) that the problem was in the plumbing, and I possibly had crossed lines. She also told me that the technician had said that he had difficulty making the homeowner understand what he was trying to explain. A complete and utter falsehood. I asked her how an isolation test was carried out, and that I would call the plumber to see what was going on, as this was not what we had been told. I was livid and called the plumbing company back just in case there was some honest mistake. Of course, there wasnt. I would like Whirlpool to be made aware that the company that they contract with is disreputable and has a history of deceitful practices. I found many negative reviews, and in fact the sort of treatment I received seems to be their modus operandi, no receipt, never a call back, assure the customer their problem will be covered under warranty, misrepresent the the service performed. The reason I add this last statement is that at no time was the new water heater disconnected, drained, refilled and allowed to return to operating temperature; the so-called isolation test a process which Whirlpool told me takes about two hours. This test did not take place. I previously stated that the technician was only at our home for forty minutes. There was no test of water temperature. I have since replaced my water heater with another brand--it works fine and there were no plumbing problems! I thought the name Whirlpool meant something. I have owned quite a few Whirlpool appliances over the years, in fact my new washing machine is Whirlpool. But I am definitely disinclined to purchase this brand again. I am so disappointed with the service I received from Whirlpool, a huge waste of time and money, and I am out $95.00 for nothing. I think Whirlpool should reimburse me for this, as the original (honest) plumber was correct. My water heater was defective and should have been replaced at that time. If it had been, you would probably still have a customer.

We bought a Whirlpool French Door refrigerator in July of 2018 and it has gone out twice (quit cooling and has completely frozen over). The first time it went out at 6 months and the second was two days after the factory warranty expired (the warranty for the Whirlpool repair company lasted only 90 days for parts and labor which is useless). I’ve called the company to come take a look and it will cost over $100 just to have someone come out since we are outside the factory warranty window by four whole days. I was basically told there is nothing they will do even though the same problem keeps happening. This refrigerator was brand new and didn’t even make it six months. Now we will need to either pay hundreds of dollars for repairs (knowing that the issue will likely happen again) or buy a new refrigerator. Even though we have barely had this appliance a year. I will never, ever buy Whirlpool products ever again. I also posted my negative rev on their official website and it never got published. They only show their 4-5 star reviews (all of which say the customer has been incentivized in some way). This is a misleading and sneaky process.

I purchased a Whirlpool French door refrigerator model # gx5fhdxvyo4 in June 2011. Four months ago, ice was forming on the bottom of the freezer. Repair person replaced a clogged plug leading to evaporation tray. Its March 2013 and repair person now has to replace evaporator motor part # W10128551. I contacted Whirlpool and was told the warranty has expired (one year). This repair will be around $175. How can I trust a Whirlpool product in the future?

I purchased the Front-Loader Duet in June of 2008. Like many of the consumers here, my machine began making a thunderous sound during the spin cycle. I contacted Whirlpool and arranged for service. The service call was $129, the estimate was over $1100 to repair (bad bearing). The machine originally cost $899 plus tax. I called customer service to complain. I had owned two top-loader Whirlpool machines; one for 15 years, the other for 12 years with no service calls ever needed. How can Whirlpool possibly justify what is obviously a design defect by telling me that I should have bought an extended warranty? I replied that in my experience, an extended warranty is an unnecessary expense for a Whirlpool product.

Rather than replace the heating element in my 15 year old Sears dryer, I opted to replace both my Sears washer and dryer with a new HE Whirlpool. It was the biggest mistake that Ive made. The washer does not have an agitator and the clothes turn into a twisted knot. Deodorant did not wash out of load of three sweaters. When I called tech support, the woman told me that the washer met specification. I suppose that means that it uses only limited water but has nothing to do with the cleanliness of the finished load. I was told by the repairman that future calls regarding unclean clothes would cost me despite a warranty that I purchased from Lowes. He suggested that I wash on using the Bulky Items setting and with a specific laundry soap. The setting provides more water but without the agitator, my clothing turns into a huge knot and comes out of the machine dingy despite washing loads for over 60 minutes at a time. My electric bill has gone up because I have to also add an extra rinse. The machine frequently become unbalanced. My dryers seal started loosening up two years after my purchase and finally became twisted in a sheet and ripped itself loose. Whirlpool has lost all future business with me.

We bought our first Whirlpool 4 door about 4 years ago. Within the first 3 or 4 months the ice maker stopped working which was repaired. Then at 3 years the compressor went out and of course no cooling or freezing. Since we had bought this at Lowe’s they loaned us a fridge until ours was taken care of and told us to call whirlpool. When we called they said they would do nothing for us. Between them and Lowe’s we were finally able to get the refrigerator replaced by paying another $1,000. We have had the new fridge for a little under a year and the ice maker stopped working. While trying to get it working by their service repair people the cooling and freezer stopped working. The service people said the compressor is bad. We called whirlpool again they will not replace the refrigerator and said it will have to be repaired. The service company says compressors are on back order and don’t know when they will have one. All of this has been going on for 3 weeks at this time and who knows how much longer. I had to throw all of the food in my freezer away and as well as most of what was in the refrigerator. I am now buying ice every other day to keep some foods cool so we can have something to eat. We are 82 years old with a very limited income and find this very difficult to deal with. Whirlpool’s reply is sorry but they will not do anything since the fridge is under warranty.
