When my dryer died my wife and I decided to get both a new washer & dry
When my dryer died my wife and I decided to get both a new washer & dryer. I kick myself for two reasons. My 15-year-old washer which worked fine I replaced, and I didnt check reviews before buying. What a mistake. The eco-friendly Whirlpool washer designed to save energy doesnt clean close, my towels are the worse. Coming out of a shower and using a freshly washed towel to dry off and it smelling like it had never been washed tears it for me. Im hoping like many others they will rebate or even better recall and pay back the money I spent on a worthless washing machine! So, if Whirlpool wont do the right thing, I will do my best to warn others to not buy this top loading piece of **.

My Whirlpool microwave oven is terrible. The whole point of a microwave is to cook things faster and make ones life easier. The main problem is food doesnt actually cook due to sensors. Cooking bacon, for example, should be a simple, quick item that easily cooks in a microwave within minutes. Not w/ this Whirlpool! The sensor would not allow the bacon to cook - even after 20 minutes of trying!! Foods such as Bob Evans family sized mashed potatoes cant be cooked either. The sensor in this microwave ensures that only the outer layer is hot while the middle is stone cold. Also, the fan has never worked from day 1, and were now on 6 months of ownership. This wasnt a cheap microwave either, so Im SOL. Please dont make the mistake I made. Dont buy Whirlpool.

I purchased my Whirlpool Gold Series refrigerator from Lowe’s in Rockledge, FL. This was my third purchase after returning an LG Refrigerator as well as a Samsung refrigerator for having multiple defects! My Whirlpool Refrigerator purchased June 2014 has motherboard replaced that showed obvious evidence of factory board flaws when boards were manufactured. Top mounted ice maker drips so much water it fills my veggie draws with water ruining my food. Mold is present inside my ref now from constant leaks. Drawers were replaced by tech also due to ill-fitting design during first few months. Water will not dispense in door after one year, gave up using it. This is a horrible and very expensive appliance wrought with POOR DESIGN FLAWS. WHIRLPOOL does not care about its consumers. Their engineers must be some of the worst in the world. Our old 70-year-old kerosene powered refer in the Bahamas is still making ice, yet most modern day refs are like buying cheap home computers that constantly need service to keep them running. It’s a lifetime investment with $89 first service visit to determine problems then weeks of waiting for parts and second visit for the repair to be completed until next electronic malfunction. DONT BUY A NEW WHIRLPOOL APPLIANCE. WAIT AS LONG AS YOU CAN FOR ALL THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS AGAINST WHIRLPOOL & Kitchenaid to play out.

I had purchased a hot water heater on Saturday and installed it myself. I filled the tank and waited about twenty minutes before turning the power on. I waited a couple of hours before testing the water temperature and it was cold. I checked the temperature setting and it was set at one twenty five, I went to Lowes and informed the service person and was told there was nothing they could do about it, I had to call the number on the tank for Whirlpool. I called the number and was told they could come out to check it but we would be responsible for the labor charges. I didnt understand why because it was under warranty and we had also purchased the extended warranty. I informed my wife so she could deal with Whirlpool because I was going to work. My wife called a number of times and was getting transferred from one person to another and getting no help at all. She was told by one person that it was maybe a problem with the wiring in our home or maybe the plumbing. One person told her that it was not their problem. We had to finally pay an electrician to come out to look at it and had to pay him to replace a heating element. The cost of the electrician and the part came to an extra two seventy five dollars. The only real help that we received was from Lowes managers that were willing to take the water heater back if we could get an authorization number to return the water which Whirlpool claimed they did not have any type of a number. Our 400 dollar water heater turned into an almost 700 dollar water heater. We had also purchased a refrigerator from Lowes that was the Whirlpool brand that quit working after about four months and we had to pay to have it fixed. Needless to say, we will never again purchase any Whirlpool products or recommend them to anyone. The service was very very poor and we are not happy with Whirlpool.

We bought the Gold Series Whirlpool fridge (Model WRF990SLAM00) in December
We bought the Gold Series Whirlpool fridge (Model WRF990SLAM00) in December 2013. A few months after its first repair, (dripping on the top left inside of the fridge), which happened within the first year and was covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, it started to make an incredibly loud whirring sound that kept us up at night. Our bedroom is upstairs and far away from our kitchen, and I had to sleep with earplugs to not hear the noise. We tested the noise on a decibel app and it came in between 66-70. A normal fridge noise level should be around 52 decibels. We had a repairman come out and he replaced a fan even though he told me it wasnt going to fix the problem. Wait, what? After he replaced the fan and the whir continued, we called Lowes extended warranty again, and they sent out a different company: 1-800-Appliance.The second guy replaced two kits and found some issue with the ice maker, which we were not even aware of, but the noise remained, and he then had the gall to say it was a normal noise. If it was normal, wouldnt it have been making that noise the first year we had it? We had 1-800-Appliance come out again and he determined he couldnt fix it, so Lowes sent another guy from the same company, and he replaced the same fan that the first guy replaced, which was clearly not the problem. Three perfectly good fans were wasted. BTW, the repairman who said the noise was normal told us that the fridge had a part that was made to be replaced after purchase because if Whirlpool had the part at the point of sale, the fridge would not meet the Energy Star standards. Hello, lawsuit! After three repairs for the same problem and five visits that did not fix the problem, we were told Lowes would issue us a return order in three days. Finally! Not so fast... one week later, no one called, so I called them and then Lowes denied having told us that! We gave them the name of the person who told us they would take the fridge back, but the woman on the other end said she had no record of that (how convenient) and, despite the California lemon law requiring only three attempts at a repair, they would require yet another attempt by one of their repairmen. She told me that if he determined the noise was abnormally loud and not repairable, then she could contact the manufacturer and go from there. So they sent a guy from the first company out and he wrote down that the fridge was not repairable and was very noisy. He said that should take the fridge back at that point. My husband called Lowes several days later after not being contacted by them and they told him that they need to send a different repairman out from 1-800-Appliance and that only 1-800-Appliance could determine if we could get a refund. If that was true, then why send the other company out? By the way, the second guy sent out by 1-800-Appliance wrote down that the noise was very loud and wasnt fixed by his repair. But the notes Lowes said they received from him didnt say that at all. They told me that he wrote that the noise level was normal. I am starting to think there is collusion between Lowes and 1-800-Appliance. Something very wrong here. So, six visits later and horrible customer service from both Lowes and 1-800-appliance, we are now being told that the repairs need to be 30 days apart from each other before they will issue a return. If the cause of the noise was never actually repaired, then why do we have to wait a month between repairs? We continue to jump through the hoops that Lowes keeps throwing our way, but it is now clear that they have no intention of taking the fridge back. The fridge is less than two years old, and we have the extended warranty. We couldnt take the noise any further because it felt like it was causing hearing loss and after several months of that horrible sound we were both on edge, so we bought an amazingly quiet fridge from Pacific Sales, and they assured us that they would not do to us what Lowes did. Pacific Sales pride themselves with having good customer service. Lowes seems to have taken delight in lying to us, selling us a lemon, and then not righting a wrong. We have moved the loud piece of ** into our garage, and if Lowes continues to change the rules of a return and act in collusion with 1-800-appliance, probably in hopes that we will simply throw in the towel, then at least we dont have to hear that horrible sound in the meantime. If they dont do the right thing and take back the fridge, then we will simply keep calling out a repairman to fix the problem. We have three more years of our warranty, and if Lowes doesnt do the right thing, we will make them pay for this one way or another. Viva la revolucion!!

I purchased a Whirlpool Duet HE front end loading washing machine. Less than two years after purchase, the machines tub and bearings failed amounting to a repair bill of $1035.00. Fortunately for me, or so I thought, I purchased an extended warranty for the machine. However, even though the complaint department was aware of the failure, the amount of the repair and the fact that I declined repair and was opting for the $500 reimbursement option, I was told that the claim, as it was called, would take 2-3 business days to process and if I was awarded (his words) the reimbursement, I could only use this money on a new machine at a Sears store and not on any new, but previous year model, or at a Sears outlet. None of these things were related to me when they took my $214.00 for the warranty. In all, my original washing machine of 22 months will have cost me $1414.00. My new washing machine, if awarded one, will cost approximately $400. The total cost to wash clothes for 10 months will exceed $1,800.00. Do not purchase Whirlpool front end loaders because the drum bearings will break (that is why they exclude them from extended warranties) and do not buy extended warranties as Sears makes out in the end.

In 2010 we had to purchase a new hot water heater. Went to our local Lowes store to see what they offered. We decided to buy a Whirlpool energy smart electric water heater. It was large, 50 gallon. We have a large family and didnt like running out of hot water so we thought this would be great. Worked fine until yesterday when I kept smelling an odor like something melting. Could not figure out where the smell was coming from until this morning I got in the shower and had very little hot water. Went downstairs and seen the water heater was not working. Got the user guide out to see if we could pinpoint what was wrong. It said no power to control board. I checked the breaker box and found no problems. I got a flashlight to look at the control board and discovered it had overheated and melt the top of it. Have been on phone with Whirlpool nonstop with just a recording. The heater has a lifetime warranty so Im trying to get the replacement part for it that will cost me $115 plus shipping. I am really concerned that with this overheating it did not trip the breaker. Grateful it did not start a fire and worried if we repair it will this happen again and possibly not be as fortunate. I have seen on this site of another complaint with the same problem. Shocked there hasnt been a recall issued. Be careful!

In 2009 I bought 2 (yes 2) machines (one was for our daughter). I also took out 5 year warranties on both (good job I did). Within the first month on our machine the paddles flew off and after a bit of a debate with the insurers we had another machine (same model). Within a short period from date of purchase both machines had a number of faults - circuit boards, weights that came loose! and bearings going. There are other bits but too extensive to list. To be fair to the insurers they were no trouble (it really is the inconvenience of being without a washer and having to schedule time to get it sorted out). I will never ever buy a Whirlpool as all of these (3 in total) have been a nightmare and ours is sounding noisy again (it only had a new drum 12 months ago for bearings - yes you need a new drum for that £200 in all!!) so I am really glad that we have the insurance. When that runs out and the machine is dead (whichever comes first) I think we will will be buying either a Beko or a Samsung that are getting really high ratings. Anyone reading this might wonder why did we buy these in the first place. Well a colleague of mine at work had one and said it was fantastic (she had children so used hers a lot) hence me buying them (and they were not cheap by any means, so thought we were getting a cracking pair of machines....cracking, yes they might as well be as a chocolate fireguard has more reliability...WARNING DO NOT BUY A WHIRLPOOL WASHING MACHINE - IT COULD DAMAGE YOUR SANITY! AND FAITH IN HUMAN BEINGS TOO!!!!!

We bought a new Whirlpool dishwasher with a kitchen reno. It cost over $1000. One month out of warranty the pump died. As this is apparently a common thing with these dishwashers the company sent a new pump, free of charge, but we still had to pay $150 for the install. Now, less than 2 years after purchase, the dishwasher refuses to drain. I wrote to the company, they are not interested. Dont buy Whirlpool, you are only throwing money away.

We have the Cabrio model and are thoroughly pleased with the performance. My only issue is the amount of sounds during the spin cycle. Otherwise, the machine is quiet. I like having the automatic dispensers for soap, bleach and fabric softener. Not having the classic tub makes loading a little different as the clothes need to be distributed around the side of the tub and avoid the center.

I purchased a Whirlpool gas hot water heater in July 2012 and have had to replace the control/pilot light mechanism every 6 months since then. Whirlpools customer service is the worst service in the world. They are rude. I have followed their instructions every time and have been accused of being uncooperative. I paid $350 to $400 for my heater and just spent $200.00 to have a plumber put apple cider vinegar in my tank.I was told by Whirlpool that the calcium sediment was causing the problem... I drained this tank twice and there was no sediment in the tank. This is evidently a common error for Whirlpool tanks. I will never purchase any Whirlpool product again and will tell others that their products are crap. The worst part was the inconsiderate customer service. I dont know who trains them, but they need to fire the entire bunch. Shame on you Whirlpool!

Bought a nice house in 2012 which has a Quiet Partner 3 Dishwasher. About twice a week it has to be reset pressing buttons because it blinks at you when you press start. Control board was replaced a couple times since we bought house. We just put up with it. The tub has a manufacturers defect in bottom where the plastic is so thin it finally cracked and over time water trickling out went to wall. Then ruined an area in finished basement ceiling. Ive used a couple different things to stop the leak but it always starts leaking. Customer service says its not under warranty so will buy a new dishwasher. But not Whirlpool or Maytag. Same company now. Dishwasher is a total piece of crap.

My refrigerator was purchased in May 2014, and died in August 2015. Before it died, it produced a very loud, rattling noise for two days. Thus, the refrigerator cost me $100/month. It does seem, upon reflection, I would have been better off buying a piece of junk for $50. It would have lasted longer. Additionally, the so-called stainless steel started rusting all over the front surface, first popping up in one spot, then another. One year old, rusty and dead. Great job Whirlpool. Buy American.

On October 21st 2011, Michael sent their technician, Steve, to my residence
On October 21st 2011, Michael sent their technician, Steve, to my residence to check my washing machine. I was in the house the whole duration of his visit. After testing he concluded that the control board of my machine is faulty. Although he brought with him his own control board but he never showed me my machine working when he installed his control board, even though I was in the house at the time. With my lack of knowledge at the time, I missed requesting that he show me the machine working with his control board. But he should have involved me in the diagnosis since I was just home and should have been his initiative. Anyway, Steve then said that the total cost of the control board plus service is $194.03 on top of the diagnosis fee of $81.19. I was taken aback with the cost since working used washing machine on Craigslist just cost $150. So I said I can only pay him for his diagnosis of $81.19 by personal check. He issued me an invoice with account number **. I also thought that I also could get a cheaper control board online which I did. Also, I know I have the right not to purchase control board from them as long as the diagnosis was accurate since I paid for it. So I ordered a control board from ApplianceZone.com and also chatted with a technician named Kelly. Based on the symptoms I related to her, Kelly confidently said that the issue is not with the control board but the Control panel is the one that is faulty. Kellys diagnosis was different from Steves but since Steve has personally checked my machine, I decided to purchase a control board. When the board arrived on Octpber 25th, I immediately installed it as its easy to install since I followed simple instructions how to install it myself. But when I installed the new control board it manifested the same issue as the original part.. So I called Steve over the phone and he said the new control board.I purchased also faulty and that I have to replace it which I did. Then the second new control board arrived on November 8th and when I installed it, exactly same issue again manifested. That was then I suspected probably Steve misdiagnosed my Washing Machine. So I tried calling Depew the same day but wasnt able to reach Steve. Instead another guy named Kenneth answered the phone. He said that Steve has the right diagnosis but I insisted that I recalled Steve never showed me the washing machine working with his control board installed so Im doubting he got the correct diagnosis. Since it wasnt helping me at all, I decided to visit personally their store on November 8,th 2011 at 5933 Burnet Rd Austin TX, to request an audience with their manager. Then I met the manager named Michael ** who I believe is also the owner of the company. After introducing myself and explained the issue and told him that I wasnt satisfied with the service rendered by Steve because with two new control boards why is my machine still not working so I believe Steve got an incorrect diagnosis. I was a dissatisfied customer and I was hoping they would find a way to help me since I already paid them $81.19 but to my surprise, this Michael ** was so rude, his response was We have done our job, you are on your own now. We dont need your business. Good Bye I said Is this how you treat your customers? he answered me This is how I treat you.. I felt discriminated and insulted by his unprofessionalism. I couldnt imagine an owner of a business treating a customer like that. Before I left, I told him that I will report him to Whirlpool since they referred Depew to me and I would also report to the Texas Attorney General. He just said Go ahead and do what you want to do. We have nothing to do with you; I couldnt believe we have a business owner like this here in Austin TX. I really appreciate you helping me with this issue with Depew Appliance especially with this issue with their manager Michael Depew. I also demand refund of $81.19 for the diagnosis as they dont deserve to be paid and also they should pay me the cost of the control board $85.13. Lastly, I like to request that whatever license this company is holding must be reviewed as his dealing with me as customer is nothing short of discriminatory.

I went from an HE front loader to an HE top loader (Whirlpool Cabrio WTW7000DW0) due to the risk of mildew with the front loader. Im not the only one doing laundry and if someone else does it, it always seems that they shut the door when empty, contributing to moisture and mold that needed to be cleaned out of the gaskets. I am so unhappy with my top loader HE washer. When I stop the machine and look, I always see my laundry half covered with dingy water, sometimes part of it still dry at the top and it is disgusting. I frequently have to rewash loads due to detergent getting trapped in folds or pockets created that hold on to dirt and lint, even being careful with the detergent amount. I run the washer now every time with settings of deep water, extra rinse, heavy load and presoak with instructions, with settings taped to the top for others. At almost 1 1/2 hours each load, we just cant keep up. The laundry still forms pockets and sheets form a giant tent over the entire load that has to be unraveled at the end of the cycle and wound so tight it had no chance of rinsing. I had to get a repair person out because it got out of balance and he had a small hand-held computer to enter a code to rebalance it. When we discussed the issues I was having, he was ready for everything I was doing wrong. He told me I can not wash blankets or large items (I thought I was buying large capacity with such an enormous drum). He told me they have caught people adding water with a bucket during cycles and that the washer software can tell them if people are trying to work around the system which voids the warranty.Apparently, this is a common complaint he blames on the government wanting high efficiency so they make the numbers look good, sacrificing the ability of the washer to perform at what a consumer expects. I have never seen the water in my drum higher than a couple inches and the drum is HUGE, but never used to capacity. He told me his wife demanded they get a commercial washer because she was so angry about how poorly it cleaned. I feel so scammed and I wish I could have my old agitator back. $100 for the repair call, $150 for the code to be put in and Im on warning that they will see if I try to add water, run out of balance or dont comply with any reason they can void the warranty by just checking the data the washer is collecting on us.

We bought this washing machine in 2013 from Plass, an appliance store in Chicago that is now out of business. The top loading plastic lid that holds the glass piece snapped and broke. I called the company, and they said that there is not a recall but that I could order parts. They put me on hold, and 10 minutes later, I was on the phone with a company in Missouri that wanted to sell me a lid for $219.38 plus tax and shipping. Bought the Whirlpool Duet washing machine. It lasted around eight years. In the meantime I was replacing the rubber door seal cleaning out the pump constantly. The plastic pieces inside the drum all broke. Every few months I would get an error code. And During spin cycle it would literally shake my entire house. The problem with all the front loaders is the construction of the drum and the drum bracket. They are made of dissimilar materials. (Stainless and zinc) When you add soap to the water then the bracket becomes an anode and the drum becomes a cathode, which creates electrolysis which corrodes the bracket. When the bracket breaks your machine is totaled. I’m finished with every manufacture except Speed Queen. I bought a Top loader Speed Queen and I love it, it is built like a tank.

The representative was cordial, patient and very helpful when it came to giving me directions on how to locate make/model information on the unit. That was until I let her know about a recent problem with the stove. The edge of the cooktop is much too sharp! My hand got cut while wiping down the stove top/adjacent counter. Although Ive had the stove for a while, Id never had that happen before; thats probably because I used a thin rag this time around to do the cleaning. I asked the rep if anyone else had reported getting cut by the stove top. She said, No. I let her know that my goal was to just them know about the situation, because such a sharp edge on a cooktop is a safety issue. She disagreed. But what could or should she have said? In all fairness, it came down to balancing loyalty to the company with genuine care for the customer.I do appreciate how kind she was in communicating with me, but am very displeased that once Id shared about the problem she seemed rather dismissive of the situation. How could the risk of being cut NOT be a product safety issue??? If you visit the Consumer Products Safety Commission website, you can see where risk of laceration is a reason some products are recalled. Based on that understanding, I would say that sharp edges on a ceramic cooktop IS a safety issue!

I received this Email from the Whirlpool Director of Consumer Care to evaluate my experience with their customer service department. I filled out the survey over a week ago including a complete documentation of my problems and have not even received an acknowledgment of the survey or promise to look into my problems. In the last 7 months I have experienced problems with 2 Whirlpool major appliances which both appear to be unrepairable and which have been unsuccessfully brought to the attention of your customer support group. In March a fridge and in October a clothes washer. Both were high end products roughly 3 to 4 years old. I did not have an extended warranty with the fridge so I dealt directly with the customer support group. However I was covered by warranty with the washer and your distributor Bad Boy have been making the calls on my behalf but have been just as disappointed to date as I was. Both cases were very similar. In both cases the repairman came out within a few days and promised to return the following week with the broken part but I have never heard from either one of them EVER. In the case of the fridge I was told to defrost it the day before the promised repair date and lost all the food $$$. At this stage a number of calls went out from me to Whirlpool for the fridge and from Bad Boy for the washer and eventually we both got a new delivery date of roughly one month. Both times the date passed with no shows and no call backs. Repeated calls later to the customer service group, with promises of EXPEDITING the delivery, the fridge part delivery date was extended to 3 months so we had no choice but to buy a new fridge. As for the washer, Bad Boy even had an unsuccessful face to face meeting with your representatives and we have had no word back or expected delivery dates well into the third month.I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO? I have made so many calls with so few call backs and no clue what to expect or when? Your representatives use the word expedite with no idea what the word means. At the suggestion of one of your representatives I even called one of your distributors Sears to see if they had the part. Their Canadian head office is in the Philippines and they said they had the same problem with Whirlpool. Twice I tried to talk with your representatives supervisor and both times were unsuccessful. In a world of computers where it should take seconds to find inventory parts and expediting packages usually refers to next day delivery, the fact Whirlpool requires months is unbelievable. The only explanations I can come up with is 1- You dont make parts for your appliances. 2- New appliances are made so poorly all parts are gone. 3- You could not care less about your customers. 4- You dont own a computer. Most of our appliances are Whirlpool because we thought you had a good reputation. We had to purchase a new fridge and still have had no word on the washer?

I am concerned that Whirlpool microwaves installed over the stove have extremely faulty doors. I have two homes in which I have Whirlpool microwaves, and both have huge cracks in the door and small pieces inside the doors beginning to fall out. It deeply concerns me that it will cost more to replace the doors than to replace the microwaves. I have always believed in Whirlpool appliances but now feel that I will have to change brands. My question is “What in the world is wrong with your doors that they crack so easily and the company holds no responsibility with such faulty work?” I would simply think that this was just a faulty door on my microwave, but I have two that are cracked! This definitely means you have a faulty product.

We purchased a Whirlpool (gas) range with double oven, in April of this year. We found that the upper oven over heats, on the right side, and therefore burns or bakes unevenly. The repair company will be out for the fourth time tomorrow. They have been very nice to deal with, but really have not been able to repair or come up with any definitive plan of repair action.

I will never purchase from Whirlpool again. After 3 years of use in a 2 - person (adult) household, my Whirlpool Duet (WFW94HEXW2) washer suddenly stopped working with an F6 E2 error code. I unplugged / plugged in the machine, took off the top & checked connections, and let it sit overnight. I could not get it working. Speaking to a local repair technician via phone, he indicated it is likely the control board. Whirlpool changed that part from part number W10406632 to part number W10427967. Before spending the money on a service call, he suggested I contact Whirlpool to see if it is under recall. I contacted Whirlpools customer service. They told me the washer is not under recall but I may qualify to purchase their Repair + 1 service. When I expressed frustration at spending so much on a product that lasted only 3 years I was told This is not a known quality issue or recall. I will document a complaint for you. The chat session was then terminated by the customer service representative. We will spend over $300 to replace the part that Whirlpool obviously knows is flawed. However, I will not pay for an additional Whirlpool repair service to fix something that should not have broke in the first place. And Whirlpool (including Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn - Air, etc.) will never get our business again.

This started Sept 27 2017 when the ordered online electric range 30 inch slide in oven Whirlpool brand was delivered. When using the oven, a noxious diesel smell filled my home, despite multiple attempts to burn in the unit as advised. 10 days later after still trying to burn it in fumes got worse. I called corp who then sent over a tech to look at it and the tech shared with me when he arrived that he was the wrong person since he cant smell due to an old injury! He admitted he smelled a chemical when it first went on but it went away for him but might have went away due to is impaired smelling ability. I called Corp back and they totally agreed something was wrong with it that could not be repaired and the unit should be picked up and I should be paid back that day it is picked up. They said in a few days which later turned in 2-3 weeks out and counting... I filed a complaint with the BBB due to the ongoing issues. Corp office said they would pick up unit and at that time hand deliver me my refund in full. At first the pick up was weeks out but after BBB was notified they came yesterday 10/18/17 and removed unit, but no check! I called Corp again this time asking why I did not get my money as they promised she said someone dropped the ball, and that someone should have told me that since they had to get someone non-local to get it that they will mail me the check in 14-21 days! She said I see in the notes. They told you they would hand deliver you your refund so they should have called you about the change. So here I sit... No oven in use since Sept 18 and no money back to buy one for weeks yet. I have never been told, despite my requests as to what the chemical was that I was burning off in my home and exposed my family to over 10 days which we had headaches and nausea from (despite windows opened and fans going at full blast). Only that it might have come from the manufacturer or process. This company isnt the only one who has had issues on occasion with a defect in this never-ending chemical smell but the lack of regard of my safety concerns and failure to stand up to what they offered to do (poorly handled response) is simply wrong and bad business. I have not dealt with Whirlpool regarding matters ever and have very little of their products in my home so unsure if this is unique or standard with them. I wont buy their products anymore because I am less than very dissatisfied with my experience. I may have been the only unlucky person having this kind of response from this company but felt the need to share.

I spent every penny I earned to buy a long lasting fridge (Whirlpool Gold Series) only to have a headache ever since I bought it. Only owning a year the freezer went out, yes I had to endure the loud noise, no ice. Then the thing would spoil my milk and ham making my stomach to be sick. The temp is 60•. The people that Whirlpool sends out are in cahoots. Told me my compressor is out and I just heard it kick on. It takes much too long. Lid locks and then starts over. Also, warranty is not good. I wouldnt ever buy their product again and suggest no one else should either. We purchased the Whirlpool Gold Series smooth top stove from Lowes in December of 2013. The stove is not even 2 years old and it doesnt work. Last September, I noticed a few times that while baking food in the oven, it was burnt after only 10 minutes, due to a runaway temperature. After that, the oven wouldnt heat up properly, it would take too long to bake anything because the temperature wouldnt reach the reading on the display. Then it just stopped baking or broiling all together with the error Feature unavailable. Weve had a serviceman out at least 3 times. Of course, the warrantys run out and its cost us close to $500 to keep fixing it, and two motherboards and a bottom element later, its still not fixed. They wanted to order 2 more parts at our expense, but we cant continue trying to fix this lemon. I will be shopping for another oven, and will never recommend Whirlpool to anyone.

If you are on this website, keep reading. You will definitely find many people that have your same problem. We purchased our refrigerator 5 years ago. Since then we have had a leak inside of it which is gradually forming mold that I have to cleanup. The ice maker and water dispenser do not function for months at a time. I just purchased 2 drawers for the same reason as the review on May 5, 2016. The tabs break off of the front panels and the panel falls off of the drawers. Theres no way to pull them out. We paid over $200.00 for two drawers!I spoke with customer service at Whirlpool and read them the 2016 review. Their answer was that you should not believe everything you read. My answer was, How cant I? Its happening to the refrigerator I own. They just kept giving robotic answers. The conversation was that of someone that is in denial of having a problem. They dont care. Instead of at least offering a discount on the drawers, she offered me an over $400.00 one year warranty. Pathetic! Whirlpool has just lost another customer.

Customer service does nothing to help and when we called Monday about a replacement part they told us they could no longer sell parts for that specific heater due to it being in a double wide. I contacted several more people and found out that heater was fine; all we needed was the part. The customer service woman was very rude and not willing to help at all. I told them we don’t have the money to keep replacing their piece of **. I ended up having to order yet again another part that was just replaced 2 months ago from Lowes. So after being with no hot water since Monday, now on Friday it is fixed, I wonder for how long. We do not recommend Whirlpool for nothing and will never buy a piece of ** from them anymore. We have a Whirlpool refrigerator that is causing us problems. I hope to soon get different brands in here to replace what Whirlpool can’t seem to make accurate.

Whirlpool convection/microwave GMH6185XVS - In 2011, we purchased a whole new kitchen for our home with the top of the line Whirlpool products. The sorry side of this project was our microwave. This product has been terrible for us! It has been removed from our wall 4 times for failing... and four times we have gone for weeks at a time with a big hole in our kitchen wall!! All of the failures were due to the microwave not heating food or drink, and all, according to our local dealership, were for various different reasons. Again, it has failed and our local appliance center who we bought everything from does not want to deal with it anymore. I dont blame them... I dont either!! It looks beautiful up there above our range telling me the time of day... My wife and I are older adults and take very good care of everything we own. There certainly has never been any abuse to this product (not to mention we spend half our year at a winter home so this microwave only is used for 6 months a year). I contacted Whirlpool customer service about the reliability of this product and their response was that it is now not under warranty and we should deal with our local store about repairs. I have a small Sharp microwave sitting on the counter below this crappy excuse for one that stays there all the time in anticipation on the Whirlpool going down!!! The $60.00 Sharp never fails me!! This was our 2nd time around purchasing all Whirlpool products for our house. We did the same thing when we built back in 1990. All appliances performed as they should have back then. It seems Whirlpool integrity has gone downhill. I will never buy another Whirlpool product nor I will recommend to anyone I know to do the same. Good luck to anyone who purchased one of these.

In November 2014, I purchased a Whirlpool 22 cu ft side by side refrigerator from my local appliance store. During that short time, there have been 4 instances where the ice clumps together and gets stuck, causing a large amount of ice to dump inside the freezer door. When the door is opened, the ice falls out onto the floor. I usually spend 10 minutes picking up ice and wiping up my kitchen floor. I have had the local store repairman over. He told me that was normal. Two things are seriously wrong with that statement. When I spend 1600.00 for a brand new appliance, I should be able to depend on the fact that it will function in at least a somewhat acceptable manner. Additionally, that statement by the repairman convinced me that he was not really interested in fixing the problem. I really dont think the normal operation of a new appliance is for it to make frequent, large messes for the owner to clean up. This appliance is junk and you would be foolish to purchase it. Spend a bit more money and buy a Samsung or LG. Save yourself the frustration and sense that you have been cheated and deceived by Whirlpool. I will never buy this brand again.

Once a month, I do use a cleaning tablet, and between loads, I wipe the washer out too! This is the biggest piece of junk! Save your money. Buy an old school washing machine.

On its 1st year, the water pump went out. It cost $200.00 to replace it. On its 2nd year, the circuit board went out, and it took $300.00+ to replace it. On its 5th year, the bearings went out and cost $250.00 to replace it. I bought this for $900.00, and I already have paid $750.00 plus the price of purchase which makes this washer $1,600.00. Whirlpool should compensate all of us who have worked hard and have purchased this product! I will never purchase from Whirlpool again. I can’t afford them. I should get a refund from Whirlpool. I bought all my kitchen appliances in Home Depot 4 months ago (April 2014). The wall oven, Whirlpool, never worked. Flamingo Appliances is the name of the company that does services for Whirlpool in my city. They keep changing parts and today is the 3rd visit that the technician will be in my house trying to solve the problem. Customer service in Michigan is DISGUSTING! I probably have to buy another oven because they say they wont replace it if they think its fixable. 3 MONTHS! I will never buy Whirlpool again. I hate them.

Weve had our Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine for about 3 1/2 to 4 years. At first, it left our clothes wrinkled, so I purchased a steamer to help remove the wrinkles. After a few months, it started making a terrible clanging noise. My husband was able to repair and it ran okay for a while. Over a few months, it got louder and louder. It does not get our clothes completely clean. Some even come out dry on one side. Now, we are getting an F50 code and it shuts down after 1 minute. After reading the reviews, I agree Cabrio is a bad product. What happened to the trustworthy, best value Whirlpool name?

I bought this Whirlpool America dishwasher because it was cheap. Even though Im Canadian, I like patriotism and I could get behind the American flag logo on the washer. Let me just say, if you like when food comes off your plates, and attaches to your cups, then this is the dishwasher for you. It is always a surprise when you open the door to discover which dishes have been cleaned, and which dishes have inherited the food particles from the now clean dishes. This appliance really helps you work on time management as you are required to wash all your dishes before you put them into the dishwasher. 0/10 would not recommend for anyone who wants clean dishes.

I have read the reviews and agree with all negative comments. There is no point in investing in a high efficiency machine when I have to rewash many dark items several times in spite of always adding the extra rinse cycle. The clothes appear cleaner if I do not add liquid fabric softener, but as I prefer to use my clothes line when possible, I am unable to use fabric softener. Also, although it is supposed to be a high capacity machine, I only fill the tub about one third of its capacity, hoping this will increase the cleanliness of your clothes. It doesnt seem to help.I have contacted Whirlpool several times and the final suggestion was that pay for a technicians visit, approx. $100, plus extra for repairs. I have decided not to throw good money after bad and to buy another brand of washer. This is the WORST appliance I have ever owned even though it is supposedly high-end. PLEASE do not buy a Whirlpool appliance. If the Cabrio washing machine is an indication of the quality of their appliances, you will be wasting your money.

I purchased a Whirlpool (Cabrio) Washer on March 1 2018. I previously had a Roper top loader with an agitator that was 22 years old. I used that washer for that many years and washed clothes 6 out of the 7 days of the week. Probably at least 20 loads a week. I never had a problem with it getting my clothes wet & clean. It never left them dirtier after washing them than they were before washing them. I am so disappointed in this washer!!! I can see it will not do any good to complain to Whirlpool because apparently they dont care about their customers. They think theyre products are perfect when they are far from it. I plainly told the associate I wash clothes every day. Really dirt clothes. (My son is a mechanic). I need a good washer. I can wash them by hand better than this washer does. I am very thankful I have not paid the full price for this washer yet. I will be calling them to come pick it up when my next payment is due. I will be going to one of the local consignment or thrift stores and purchasing myself an old timey top loader washer with an agitator for $100 or less. Whirlpool I had high hopes with this product and would have been buying a dryer to match soon but I believe I will stick to my Roper products or anything other than Whirlpool.

I bought my house in 2009, and the previous owner bought this refrigerator in 2005. By 2012 The light and temperature read out went out. A circuit board had to be replaced. I have a home service company that I pay for yearly which takes care of the appliances. As usual, the fine print on the back of the contract said circuit boards were not covered. When I went online to purchase the part, the cheapest I could find it was $180. My service company said they would not cover it because they break down so frequently, with Whirlpool as the biggest offender. They gave me a discount and charged me $125 for the replacement. Whirlpool is making a fortune on these defective parts, which last long enough during the warranty period, and then you are on your own.In 2015, after the refrigerator was 10 years old, the compressor died. Hundreds of dollars of food spoiled. My service company said I was covered for the replacement, but I would have to wait 5-7 days for the part to come in. I was so furious that a refrigerator of this age would break down on me. The repairman told me he has seen these Whirlpools break down after 5 years. He said they are junk. When I was young, we moved into a new 20 story building in 1963. All the apartments had the same refrigerator made by Frigidaire. I lived there for 26 years. When I moved out in 1989, that refrigerator was still there working perfectly. It never needed a repair. I never heard anyone complain about theirs either. How is it that in 1963 a company could build a workhorse of a refrigerator, but in 2005, Whirlpool, a company in business since about 1911 makes this junk? I will never buy a Whirlpool product, and will tell the world not to do so as well.

My Whirlpool refrigerator does well overall to maintain food items. However, even at the lowest freeze settings, some of the food items that are stored towards the rear of the refrigerator shelf have a tendency to freeze. This oftentimes results in food items having to be wasted. Other than that, the overall appearance and performance of the Whirlpool refrigerator is great.

The Cabrio is the absolute worst washer that Ive ever owned! No matter what combination of setting I use, my clothes come out dingy, all twisted and wrinkled, and full of lint and detergent residue (I use liquid detergent made specifically for HE washers). Every setting runs for over an hour. So much for high efficiency! What it saves on water it more than wastes on electricity!! More often than not, the entire load becomes enveloped in one of the items to create one huge ball. A t-shirt stretched to encompass the remaining clothes into a perfect sphere! When that happens, some of the laundry in the middle of the big ball is barely damp. The dryer is just as bad, even the towels come out wrinkled. How is that possible? And again, it takes over an hour to dry a load.Whirlpool customer service is awful. When I called to complain, the agent began schooling me on how to wash clothes. Im 66 years old, Ive washed a few clothes in my lifetime and have always prided myself in my white whites and bright colors. I have a new house and the builder provided all the appliances. Based on my past negative experience with Whirlpool products and their customer service, I would not have purchased Whirlpool.

There are plenty of reviews on this board already about how the so called AquaLift technology for oven cleaning is completely worthless so I wont repeat what they have already so eloquently described. AquaLift has managed to take us back in time to around 1947 or whenever it was before the old easy off oven cleaner was invented. I purchased the cleaning kit (affinity) as well but it doesnt do much of anything. The only people who might consider purchasing a stove with AquaLift are those who do no roasting or broiling of meat. Every appliance Ive ever owned has been a Whirlpool product. I am on my second set of Cabrio washers and dryers. I havent had any issues with the dryers, but the washers are a different story. My first washer, bought in 2008, started throwing water and oil underneath while spinning. A service technician came out... I had to have the entire tub replaced seeing as how the bearings that went bad were in the motor/spinning assembly that was built into the tub. I moved in 2011 and needed another washer and dryer. I was told the problem had been addressed. Now Im having the same problem... the washer is so loud when spinning, you can hear it on the opposite end of the house with doors closed! So the bearing problem has NOT BEEN ADDRESSED!!! Whirlpool will not stand by this product!! Loyalty is not a factor in their assistance... Only profit!!!

Do not buy Whirlpool or Maytag appliances. They do not stand by their products. We have purchased 2 washing machines in the past 8 years. Both of them quit or broke almost as fast as we got them. The customer service agents were pleasant, but they would not help us at all. The machine we purchased has a design flaw that they will not acknowledge. They have been contacted by us several times and cant fix the problem. They need to correct a design flaw that is in all their machines. All of our clothes get encircled around the agitator and the machine gets off balance. We have to untangle our clothes from the agitator and pull them apart by hand. They make bad products, including a Whirlpool refrigerator that broke within a month of us buying it. They care about selling these crappy machines. Buy a GE, Bosch or LG. You will get a machine that works properly as soon as you hook it up. We have had their representative out several times to our house and they could not repair it. The repair techs have told us that Maytag and Whirlpool clothes washers are no good.

My gas hot water heater failed. The pilot went out and could not be relit. The Whirlpool water heater has a 12 year warranty and we are in year 5. Sears said they could not send anyone to repair it because there was no service in our area. We live 30 minutes from Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas. They offered to replace it even though I had a plumber on standby, ready to replace it. They said they could not let me do that if they had one in stock. After waiting a week for the delivery, they called at 4:45 pm to claim that the delivery truck would not start. They would not put it on another truck or help in any way. Then they said it would be another week before they could deliver it. All this time we are going without hot water, trying to cook, clean, take baths, do laundry etc. They had no sympathy and refused to provide compensation so I could proceed with installing a new water heater. I could have done this if I knew a check was in the mail but they refused to allow me to do this. This happened to me at another big box store years ago and they sent a check immediately. The customer support in the hot water heater dept at Sears was terrible. If they cant send someone to repair and they cant provide a replacement within a few days, it is only reasonable to offer payment so that the customer and move forward with repairs. I will never buy another appliance from Sears after this nightmare. On December 4th Im supposed to get the delayed hot water heater but if the truck doesnt start, who knows how long I will have to wait. I am reasonable and flexible but lack of hot water is something a customer should not have to wait two weeks to get resolved.

Purchased a new Whirlpool built in microwave oven model WMH 310 17 AB-1 in July 1, 2013. As of February 2014, the glossy black finish on this microwave is dull where the finger push controls are and scratched up along the top of control panel and top front of door. We only use a wet cloth and towel or microfiber cloth to clean this microwave; nothing that would be abrasive so very disappointed in this product. It looks quite ugly for a new appliance. We purchased a higher end cabrio model only 3 years ago. Last year, on about every 5th cycle, the load would not spin at the end. Id have to remove all the wet clothes, set it to drain and spin, start it and wait for it to hopefully kick in. When I do it right, it kicks into the spin mode. I had to quickly press start/stop to unlock the hatch and reload the soaking wet clothes and wait for it to spin properly. Yesterday the same thing happened again. This time, it did not kick in. I ended up flipping the washer over and taking a look underneath. I discovered that the motor was seized. It had lost all its lubricating oil and smoked the belt. Now, my 3 year old washer is sitting in the driveway awaiting a trip to the dump since I got fed up and went out and purchased a new Samsung top loader. I emailed and called whirlpool with no luck. Not impressed. When I went out to buy a washer today the first thing I told the salesman was to stick anything with the name whirlpool out in the trash bin out back.

I bought a Whirlpool Cabrio Top Loader High-Efficiency Machine on March 20, 2013. 14 months later, it failed. When I called customer service I was informed the 1 year warranty had expired (I knew this already) and that all they could offer me was a $319 extended warranty to fix machine and guarantee covered future repairs. Luckily, I had the machine repaired at no cost to me after complaining to the sales people I bought the machine from the year earlier. They contacted their Whirlpool representative who had the repair covered. Now, 3 years and 11 days after purchasing it, it failed again. This time the machine would no longer spin out the water. Whirlpool offered nothing more than to give the website and special code for a discount on a new machine. After some haggling, they agreed to pay for 50% of the parts only, no labor. I argued this machine must be a lemon, as they have told me theyve heard no prior issues with this machine and that it would be reasonable to replace this machine. They refused any further assistance. So I threw this piece of junk away and instead, for $185, bought a simple rebuilt 15 year old Maytag washer with agitator, direct drive. Just a couple of knobs. No computer, fancy bells and whistles. I can say with absolute certainty that I will never purchase a Whirlpool product ever again. After 48 years of marriage, I had never had a new, matching washer/dryer set. I had had several new washers, but only used dryers. These all were very good units and served me well for years. So I was excited to buy a new, matching set. I have never been soooo dissatisfied with anything in my life. As I have read from other reviews, the washer uses very little water, sometimes hardly enough to get the load of clothes wet, very little soap, and in my opinion, does hardly any agitating. I dont feel my clothes have ever appeared clean. The only ones that look clean were the ones that started out looking clean when I put them in. I know this is all an ecology thing, water saving, government guidelines, etc., but please give me my old washer back. It did enough agitation to get clothes clean. And the dryer usually will not get the jeans dry on the first attempt. I have tried various settings, and they just dont get dry. In short, I HATE THIS WASHER/DRYER SET. I have heard others talk about the same thing. No one likes them, but we are stuck with them. Would like to have the government step in and see how dissatisfied everyone is with them and force Whirlpool to give us our money back, trash these units, and buy something that actually works. PLEASE, IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR WASHERS AND DRYERS, DONT BUY THESE. I believe they are called Cabrio.

Dishes were never completely clean (at least not as clean as other dishwashers). Dishwasher leaked out one side and needed repairs. Now it is in need of a new valve, because no water is coming into the inner cavity. Repairman says it is likely that the control board, which is getting moisture into it after losing buttons, etc., will probably need to be replaced soon as well. $300 more to spend on a repair bill. SAD (AND DANGEROUS!) THAT SO MANY APPLIANCES ARE ADDING UP IN OUR LANDFILLS. There should be a LAW requiring appliances to last a certain number of years, and to clearly state their expected life on the appliance when you purchase it. Planned Obsolescence is a common business plan these days, but there must be some control on what is allowed! (I may go ahead and repair this model just because I feel bad adding one more piece of junk to our collective global pile! Sheesh!!) And all those energy star, were so green advertisements? Well, if its soon to be sitting in a landfill, its NOT so green! I am willing to pay more to purchase appliances that will last a number of years, not need many repairs, and function as they advertise... Thank goodness I kept our very first Whirlpool refrigerator - never needing any repairs and still running like a tank out in the garage. (So I know Whirlpool, at least at one time, was able to build a quality product!)

We bought this Whirlpool electric range in late July when our old stove lit
We bought this Whirlpool electric range in late July when our old stove literally blew up at breakfast. Unlike the local big stores, a small local store had this in stock. They assured us that the oven was self-cleaning. It is not self cleaning. It only cleans the bottom. We have spoken both to the local store and Whirlpool several times. The local store will do nothing. Whirlpool sent us a sponge and a plastic scraping stick. They told us to clean it BY HAND every time we used the oven and were very condescending. We are 75 and 77; we are not about to climb into an oven to attempt cleaning an oven that will not clean. Stay away from the Aqua Clean products like the plague. They do nothing, and Whirlpool will also do nothing. Next step -- court.
