I purchased Whirlpool washer in 12/2011. Immediately, I noticed the noise and called service. It was a whistling noise. The clerk told me nothing was in the manual and it would cost $65 to have a tech come out. He advised me to wait until it was louder and more consistent. I called again when it was. Gear case was replaced on 5/2/2012 five months after purchasing the machine. I called Whirlpool again in 5/2013 - same problem. I was told the diagnostic call would be $95, labor which is extended for a major job is $85 and the part would be $290. It would cost $470 to repair as the gear case was guaranteed for only three months. This machine is a lemon since the gear case is now shot again prior to the machine being 1-1/2 yrs. old. I called Whirlpool and spoke to Amy (Esc. Sup.) who advised they would replace the part only. The appointment was scheduled; the tech came, did diagnostics reading a manual and said the gear case is shot. I inquired, Well, you are going to fix it today right? The reply was, Oh no, it has to be ordered and its a two-man job. When I arranged for this appointment, this was clearly explained and what I was expecting, two men and the part to be replaced with them. Now its a five-day wait to get the part and then a scheduling issue when they could do it. This machine is a lemon and Id like to have the machine replaced or my money refunded. This is a runaround, scheduling the appointment and having someone show up with the manual and having no parts and not knowing that it was the part which broke again from previously being replaced.
Ive owned whirlpool appliances for forty years or more, and have been consistently pleased with them. My first washer and dryer lasted eighteen years while raising a family. Brand X lasted eight years with at least four repairs before we dumped the set. We moved and sold one set with the house, but my newest washer and dryer set is eleven years, and works fine. Ive had at least four ranges. We sold two of them with the houses, but theyve all been fine, just bought a snazzy new Whirlpool range as an upgrade. Im on my fourth Whirlpool refrigerator, but again we sold one with the house and we upgraded one perfectly good Whirlpool refrigerator to a bigger side by side with icemaker. Third whirlpool dishwasher. Weve moved a lot, leaving behind appliances and buying new ones. Sure, Whirlpool appliances break down, but they sell zillions of them, and you never hear about the zillions that never break down.
Ours is a glass top & has 2 dual burners & we are very pleased with that feature. The oven however takes quite long to preheat & the alert sounds are so weak you can barely hear them. It was a rapid purchase on a sale item. I wish we had shopped a bit more.
I first want to begin by saying that we have been a Whirlpool family for years. I now own a Whirlpool microwave, hot water heater, washer/dryer, Jenn-Air stove and dishwasher. My problem now is with the Cabrio Washer purchased in 2008. I started having problems in 2011 and the same problem has raised its ugly head again. When I try to use the Clean cycle, it starts at a 60-minute cycle and goes down to a 2-minute cycle in 3 minutes without cleaning or even running water into the tub. This time, it made a terrible noise and stopped. The tub was replaced in July 2011 after having the same complaint as above. The repairman said that the mechanism on the tub to fit into the spinning cycle is made of plastic and is not holding up. Also, in March 2012, a new control board was installed. I spoke to Whirlpool Customer Service and they informed me that they did not have any other complaints about the Clean cycle and that I should call the repairman. Luckily, I purchased an extended warranty. I vote a thumbs down on the Cabrio washer.
Whirlpool sent out a repairman to fix my range. I had it for 3 years, and one day I was baking cookies in the lower range and boiling water for pasta on the top left burner. There was a very loud pop, a bright flash in the glass top where the back left burner is, then there was no power to the range or oven at all. No clock display, burners would not work, oven would not work, nothing. As if it were unplugged. Of course, my warranty was about to expire in approximately 6 days (go figure) so I called the customer service line for repair. After 2 hours of back and forth with 3 different people, I finally had a technician coming out 4 days later. He shows up, takes about 35 minutes to get the glass top off, then says to me that he needs to order a part for it. This will take a few days. Ugh. Fine. 3 days later, part comes in. Same guy comes back out, fixes it. Ok.Up and running fine for about a year and 2 months. Then... POP! It happens again. Same scenario, different menu. (I was cooking breakfast). Now, warranty has run out and I have a $1,300 piece of scrap metal sitting in my kitchen. Worthless. My old KitchenAid stove was great. Had that thing for 13 years. Never a problem outside of replacing a $68 heating element one time. I paid $450 for that range. Tossed it out for this bells and whistles newer stainless steel glass top range/double oven. Regretting that tremendously. Whirlpool will be on my do-not-buy list for any appliance from now on. Didn’t even last 5 years. Oh did I mention the service call cost me $85? Yeah... Garbage!
Model number wrf990slam00. I purchased this French door refrigerator in September of 2013 (less than two years ago). Our freezer stopped freezing a month ago. Knowing it was out of Warranty we had a non-Whirlpool related repair tech out. He said the compressor was going out, he said to call Whirlpool because this should not be happening on a fridge less than two years old. I called Whirlpool. They offered me a extended Warranty knowing the issue for $320 so I accepted since a compressor with labor is much more than that. Whirlpool arranged for a repair person to come out. The guy hardly looked at my fridge, didnt hook any gauges up and said maybe just see it in a few days it works again... after asking ME for a thermometer to check the temperature! I told him well we had a previous repair person out and he said it was the compressor. He said hed have to have someone else come out because he doesnt know anything about compressors. Um ok why did they send you out then! So the following week I get a call from a different guy with the same company saying my parts were in and they were going to come out and replace them. I said I thought the guy didnt know what was wrong with it. He said oh well its the compressor and evaporator! Ok well I guess comes fix it then. They came out replaced the parts. Within 36 hours the freezer was working again, ok great! Well a week later we had people over and we bought ice cream and put it in the freezer. A few hours later we pull it out and its melting. Called Whirlpool again, they sent a second company out. The guy hooked up his gauges and said it was definitely leaking refrigerant and the fibrotic in the ice maker was broken. He said he couldnt fix it because the company that replaced them is responsible for it, and that in this type of refrigerator the compressors need to be placed a certain way or they leak which he suspected that was the case. Called Whirlpool, they scheduled for the original company to come out. After 2 times of them not showing they finally came a week and a half later. The guy hooked up his gauges said it wasnt leaking and that the other guy didnt know how to read the gauges. He looked around for a bit, took my drawers out then put them back in and broke one of the brackets, then called the tech line and said its probably an internal leak. He said he needed approval from Whirlpool to look any further. A few hours after he left the refrigerator got warm. I called Whirlpool to expedite the claim and they said the company hadnt made a claim yet. Ok great. I have a two-year-old and Im pregnant and we have no refrigerator! Called the next day. Whirlpool said the refrigerator is now too expensive or not repairable and they are going to make me an offer on replacement. Ok great! Well not so much. I call a few days later to see where the heck my offer is and they tell me sorry we will only refund your Warranty What! My fridge is less than two years old and I paid $2100 and it is not repairable and thats all you will do!!!! Im in the process of fighting this but I doubt they will do anything. Just dont ever buy a Whirlpool and if you do buy the Warranty the store offers! Each repair person that came suggested the same thing and said these new Whirlpools are junk and have had many of these refrigerators do the same thing. Whirlpool makes tons and tons of money making these cheap refrigerators but does not care about the customer whatsoever! Whirlpool has lost my business forever and I hope more customers because of this review.
I count myself as lucky... my Whirlpool 465 Accubake Ceramic Cooktop stove was given to me. I have used it for 3 years. One day, out of the blue, the oven, which was in use, started clanging loud and jumping up and down. I started screaming & tried to cut it off & it would not go off. I ran to the panel box & threw the breaker. It also burned my food that was cooking. It did it several times. Then I decided to not cut the light on or touch the button to raise the temp. It has not done it since. I bake everything on 350 degrees and immediately throw the breaker. I am scared of this stove and plan to replace it. I will NOT buy a Whirlpool, anything. (washer/dryer/fridge/aircon)....once bitten...
I purchased my brand new gas stove at Lowes in 29 Jun 10. Within the first month, my oven was giving me the error F-2. They came out and replaced the ERG board. Now, just after the warranty had expired, the same problem is happening. When I called them, they told me that I should have purchased the extended warranty. I cant use the oven because I have to unplug the stove every time to get it to stop beeping.
We purchased this washer on 2008-04-27. It ran okay until a few months ago when it began making strange intermittent noises. This is now happening more and more often. I reviewed a lot of websites and see that this is a common occurrence for Whirlpool Cabrio washers, and Whirlpool will not stand behind it and make it right. Im going to write them a letter mirroring what Im saying here, and remind them that other appliances in my house are coming due for replacements or upgrades. Whirlpool and its affiliates will not be part of those upgrades going forward. I have no patience or tolerance for expensive **, which is what they put out here. I will have to purchase a replacement washer since this seems to have two major areas of failure, both extremely expensive to repair. I might check out Roper and see what they have--its apparently very well rated by the folks that work on these things.
Initially felt the burners and oven took a LONG time to heat up, but just accepted it. After a year and a half, the motherboard died. The part alone was almost $400 and labor $100. The self clean does not work very well. Glass top is very hard to clean. It has a large oven space and looks nice, but would avoid Whirlpool at all costs following this experience.
I like the top and the stainless steel finish - its electric and so the inside is a pain to clean. Flat top - burners heat well/oven gets up to temp fast. Cleaning the outside isnt difficult, I use Bar Keepers Friend on the SS and Wegmans on the flat top - for the back black splash Mrs. Meyers - so its 3 products but its also 3 minutes. I live alone and so use is minimal as well. Im not sure Id like it in a busy house with kids.
The burners were very crooked and the pans got burned out right away. They were covered under warranty but since then, they had the same problem with them with the new items. They had the light bulb stuck and couldnt get it out, they came under warranty and now a new light bulb wont work in it. The control top indicator light didnt work so I had that fixed under the warranty, but now it has the same problem and I cant afford to get it fixed and it could be a real safety issue. When it was under warranty, I called about the brown in between the oven door and they said it was cosmetic. It gets worse every time we use the self-cleaning oven like the seal isnt tight. The outside of the door gets brown also when using the self-cleaning oven. We thought we would have this range for a long time as we had a Whirlpool range before which lasted 20 years. I will never buy a Whirlpool product again and we have had a lot of them. e cant afford to buy a new one so we are stuck with this one with all its problems. Whirlpool just gives you the runaround when you call. When they brought the range, the self-cleaning oven part wasnt even hooked up so they had to come back and fix it. I cant believe they dont have more recalls on these. I have only had this for 4 years.
I have a combo Microwave oven/oven GMC275PDS07. When the microwave is finished with the requested program, the end of program chime lets you know its done. Then, if the door is not opened for at least 3 seconds, the chime will ring again every minute thereafter ad nauseum. This will go on for hours without end. I know because I tried it. I reached out to Whirlpool via a web chat and my question was not even addressed. I was ignored. From reading other submissions, I assume this is de rigueur for Whirlpool. I then called Whirlpool and spoke to Katie in Tennessee. She was not able to bring up any make or model when I provided her the numbers exactly as listed on the inside of the door. She was not able to provide any respite from this annoying feature. This a Whirlpool Gold model, presumably the top of the line, in my book I will never purchase any Whirlpool product of any type and I will make it a point to let anyone who will listen that Whirlpool is not a manufacturer that takes its customers concerns seriously. Katie then advised that she looked up this feature and told me there is no way to turn the beeping off. I find this amusing since she could not find the model or serial number when I gave it to her.
We purchased the Whirlpool Gold Gas Range (model #GW399LXUQ06) in November 2011. Last week, I noticed the porcelain enamel finish on the stove top grates has fallen off in pieces. I contacted Whirlpool today, February 14, 2012, about this issue and they advised me it is a cosmetic problem which is not covered under the warranty. They advised me that it would cost over $100 per grate to replace. We have had this stove for less than three months and I feel these grates are defective and Whirlpool should be responsible for replacing them. I am very dissatisfied with this stove.
In 2013 my oven died. Upon doing some research my husband and I went to our local appliance stores in search of a new one for a good deal. We chose a Whirlpool electric range with convection oven. We have had it 2 1/2 yrs and have used it often... until today we had been very happy with it. While baking some French fries we heard a loud pop, almost like a shot, running to the kitchen to find the inside tempered glass shattered! Wow! Shocked to say the least we couldnt believe it. Called our Lowes store, to no avail our warranty had expired. They gave us Whirlpools number with no success. I am extremely disappointed and will probably never buy Whirlpool again!
I purchased a range and refrigerator from Whirlpool and have had nothing but problems with them ever since. Ive only had the range for years and (2) of the top burners are no longer working. Again, the refrigerator is only 5 years old and its handle has broken 5 times. I have needed to replace the handle every year that Ive owned the refrigerator. Whirlpool only offered a (1) years warranty for these faulty appliances and then immediately started to bug me about purchasing an extended warranty. I guess they knew that their junk would hold up, so they started pushing a warranty. Finally, their customer service while apologetic, are very robotic and appeared to have heard my complaint before. So, SAVE YOURSELF SOME AGGRAVATION AND PURCHASE ANOTHER BRAND. For if you dont heed my warning just know that youve been warned.
I bought a dual oven Whirlpool 2 years back. This range keeps breaking knobs that are such a poor quality. I have bought knobs from Whirlpool 7 times already then got PSEG home service and they are tired with the quality itself. Save your money and buy another make! Poor customer service and the worst experience is what I have gained on buying this make. Have old mother at home and this headache only created more issues to help her with cooking.
The built-in microwave above the stove was in the home when we bought it seven years ago, so not sure how old it is. Although it had a crack in the door, near the handle, weve had not one problem with the unit. The crack has not opened more, or gotten longer, in the seven years weve been in the home. The unit is easy to clean, and has worked perfectly. It is simple to use, although no directions came with it, it was easy to figure it out.
Whirlpool convection/microwave GMH6185XVS - In 2011, we purchased a whole new kitchen for our home with the top of the line Whirlpool products. The sorry side of this project was our microwave. This product has been terrible for us! It has been removed from our wall 4 times for failing... and four times we have gone for weeks at a time with a big hole in our kitchen wall!! All of the failures were due to the microwave not heating food or drink, and all, according to our local dealership, were for various different reasons. Again, it has failed and our local appliance center who we bought everything from does not want to deal with it anymore. I dont blame them... I dont either!! It looks beautiful up there above our range telling me the time of day... My wife and I are older adults and take very good care of everything we own. There certainly has never been any abuse to this product (not to mention we spend half our year at a winter home so this microwave only is used for 6 months a year). I contacted Whirlpool customer service about the reliability of this product and their response was that it is now not under warranty and we should deal with our local store about repairs. I have a small Sharp microwave sitting on the counter below this crappy excuse for one that stays there all the time in anticipation on the Whirlpool going down!!! The $60.00 Sharp never fails me!! This was our 2nd time around purchasing all Whirlpool products for our house. We did the same thing when we built back in 1990. All appliances performed as they should have back then. It seems Whirlpool integrity has gone downhill. I will never buy another Whirlpool product nor I will recommend to anyone I know to do the same. Good luck to anyone who purchased one of these.
Two years ago, I bought your new stove. It was under warranty. The computer is messed up. They came and they did not fix it. Warranty is off. It hasnt worked right since I got this stove. Who is going to make it right? Its only two years old. Fr2 v comes on when turn on. Oven have to turn power off to get it to work. This stove sucks.
Out of warranty, slab of ice forms every few weeks in bottom of freezer. I have to take a butter knife and chisel it out to prevent having to defrost the entire freezer. This is clearly not isolated as after reading online and this forum, it is a manufacturing DEFECT that should be fixed at no charge to the consumer. It was delivered and installed by the retailer that sold the brand - however it sounds that Whirlpool would rather lose customers to other brands - trust me I just bought a stove and bet your sweet behind it was NOT a Whirlpool. Neither will the replacement for this piece of crap be once I can scrounge up the money.
Whirlpool gas range convection oven - I have only had this range for 2 weeks. Manual is sketchy to say the least. Purchased from LOWES - salesman were not well-informed. I have had to do a chat to find out information. Range looks great but performs poorly. Takes a while to heat anything even on high and on large burners. Grates are too heavy. I am sorry I did not see the editor review before I purchased. I have not used the convection so I cannot speak to this but my choices were limited when I purchased and I did not want a convection oven and other ranges would not purposeful for my use.
Why does your AquaLift self-clean feature not work? Tried numerous times & have been scrubbing all afternoon... Horrible!!! My last oven (Maytag) self-cleaning feature worked awesome, just had to vacuum out ashes & wipe down with regular soap & water. Have no idea what to do to get this oven cleaned!!! Very frustrated...
Our new Maytag (i.e. owned by Whirlpool) oven/range is a stainless steel pile of junk. It takes FOREVER to pre-heat. The range elements take FOREVER to heat up. And like others on here, the Aqua Lift cleaning simply does not work. We put the oven through 3 back-to-back cycles and only the bottom gets a little clean. What a scam.
Our home is only 8 years old. Our neighbors and double ovens have all gone out! I mean it just quit working and the parts and repairs are crazy expensive! We have already spent $400 on a control board and now we need a control panel which is another $300! Its ridiculous spending $700 on repair of an oven that should have lasted a lot longer! Another thing is that our ovens are white and now the panels only come in black! I will never ever buy Whirlpool appliances again and I am spreading the word to everyone I know!
This started Sept 27 2017 when the ordered online electric range 30 inch slide in oven Whirlpool brand was delivered. When using the oven, a noxious diesel smell filled my home, despite multiple attempts to burn in the unit as advised. 10 days later after still trying to burn it in fumes got worse. I called corp who then sent over a tech to look at it and the tech shared with me when he arrived that he was the wrong person since he cant smell due to an old injury! He admitted he smelled a chemical when it first went on but it went away for him but might have went away due to is impaired smelling ability. I called Corp back and they totally agreed something was wrong with it that could not be repaired and the unit should be picked up and I should be paid back that day it is picked up. They said in a few days which later turned in 2-3 weeks out and counting... I filed a complaint with the BBB due to the ongoing issues. Corp office said they would pick up unit and at that time hand deliver me my refund in full. At first the pick up was weeks out but after BBB was notified they came yesterday 10/18/17 and removed unit, but no check! I called Corp again this time asking why I did not get my money as they promised she said someone dropped the ball, and that someone should have told me that since they had to get someone non-local to get it that they will mail me the check in 14-21 days! She said I see in the notes. They told you they would hand deliver you your refund so they should have called you about the change. So here I sit... No oven in use since Sept 18 and no money back to buy one for weeks yet. I have never been told, despite my requests as to what the chemical was that I was burning off in my home and exposed my family to over 10 days which we had headaches and nausea from (despite windows opened and fans going at full blast). Only that it might have come from the manufacturer or process. This company isnt the only one who has had issues on occasion with a defect in this never-ending chemical smell but the lack of regard of my safety concerns and failure to stand up to what they offered to do (poorly handled response) is simply wrong and bad business. I have not dealt with Whirlpool regarding matters ever and have very little of their products in my home so unsure if this is unique or standard with them. I wont buy their products anymore because I am less than very dissatisfied with my experience. I may have been the only unlucky person having this kind of response from this company but felt the need to share.
After purchasing three gold series kitchen appliances in 2013 two months after purchase refrigerator failed. Whirlpool did not have a fix at the time. Told me I had to wait two months for a part to be engineered and then service to be scheduled which is not acceptable. They would not take back the refrigerator and give me a different model so I had to press Lowes to accept it back and they did give me a refund. I then had to purchase a different brand refrigerator which now I dont have a matching set in my kitchen. Then the dishwasher became part of class action lawsuit and now my gold series gas range is obviously damaged too. The control had the plastic panel is bubbling and it is split. Again after talking with Whirlpool customer service they refused to help with this at all claiming this is a cosmetic issue and it wouldve only been covered for 30 days from date of purchase. This gas range also has an aqua lift self-cleaning feature which does absolutely nothing. It does not clean the stove. You have to go into it and clean it the old-fashioned way with chemicals, gloves, mask and a scrub brush. These products are absolute junk and the customer support is non-existent. Do not buy Whirlpool products.
Purchased our stainless steel Whirlpool Gold range hood microwave oven in January 2011. By August, there were problems. It was noisy. It would occasionally shut off for no apparent reason and eventually in August of that same year, it completely stopped heating. The magnetron was replaced at no charge because it was still under warranty. The microwave has continued to run very loudly, vibrate a lot and is still prone to random shutoffs. Now a little over 2 years later, it has now stopped heating again...I am assuming another bad magnetron. How is that possible? Our last microwave lasted for over 10 years! In fact we got rid of it when it was still working fine so we could get this one for over the range instead of on our countertop. So now I have a Whirlpool paper weight for which I originally paid $485. When I called Whirlpool, I was informed a service call would be $130.00 PLUS any necessary parts and labor costs OR I could purchase the repair plus 1-yr extended warranty for $289.95. Upon requesting to speak to a supervisor, I was informed that there were no flags in the system indicating any problems with this line of microwaves. I further inquired on how they are aware of problems... Essentially a phone call warrants little proof of any problem. A service tech would have to actually go out and witness that there is a problem for it to be noted. So, for those of us that simply decide to turn our back on the product and buy a new microwave, it would go undocumented by their company. My top-of-the-line microwave is less than 3 years old and has broken down again. Doesnt common sense tell you that there is a problem with the quality? I know Whirlpool has been around for 100+ years and I really want to like them, but if they dont support the consumers that purchased their products, I can no longer do the same for them.
I had this stove for less than 3 months and the glass top broke after turning on the stove. Now I tried to find out how to purchase a replacement but it cost as much as a new stove....Ughhhh this is so aggravating.
As part of a new home purchase from Pulte, the combo oven/microwave can with the house. After one year of usage, the oven liner started the pile and crack. We have a two year Whirlpool warranty through Pulte our builder. When we called the dedicated line for Whirlpool-Pulte to report the issue, we were told that Whirlpool must send a technician to take pictures and see what is going on. The technician shows up and declares that the oven is damaged and repairable. But Whirlpool reject to replace the unit claiming that this is a cosmetic issue and it must have been reported to them within 30 days from buying the home, as this is their policy for cosmetic issues. We did some research on our own and we found out that Blue color liner ovens have a well known issue, but Whirlpool keeps putting these into their products. Our builder is not able to get them to replace the unit as well. I will not ever buy any of Whirlpool products. Be aware if you want to purchase any Whirlpool appliances, warranty to them means nothing, even when they know that they are shipping products that have faulty into consumers.
Purchased a Whirlpool French Door Refrig. Model #WRF 954CIHZ200 in 11/21/2017 from Best Buy for $2300.00 on sale. Within the 1st year the Ice Maker broke & repairman said the ill design caused the wire to break. He had replaced numerous ones for the same reason. In the 2nd yr the freezer started frosting. Next thing the freezer quit. Next day refrig quit working. Called Whirlpool, said, So sorry. We will send you a $50.00 Visa gift card. That was to cover $200.00 of just bought groceries. Called repair guy & he diagnoses compressor was bad. (IN A LESS THAN 2 YR OLD REFRIG. THAT COST $2300.00????)Now, we are 28 day w/o refrig. Living with a Igloo cooler. Whirlpool says they have no stock left on compressors for our refrig. (probably because there are so many going bad in their refrigerators). They are trying to locate one somewhere in US so that takes 6 days then they have to ship to repair center then they have to schedule us for repair which will probably be another 7 days. Ghee, what a mess! Dont do it folks! Buy a LG or Samsung! If I had it to do again, thats what I would do! Whirlpool is Not what they use to be when I trusted them. Years ago. P.S. I bought microwave, stove, & dishwasher! They are all unsatisfactory! Never again!???
This is a portable dishwasher with a butcher block top. Great to use as a rolling island countertop. The capacity is huge, fitting large pasta pots and dutch ovens with ease along with dish plates. Love the water miser setting and the no heat dry to protect delicate material like china dishware.
Whirlpool accubake slide in gas range - After using the auto clean button on the range, the digital panel will not work and the oven door will not open.
We purchased a Whirlpool stove a year and half ago. We were cooking and kept hearing (tick, tick, tick) noises. Couldnt figure out what it was. After removing the pot there was an area of 2x4 inches that had melted in. Not sure where the glass went. But it looked like a chip but on the surface.
My new ACCU-BAKE oven was not baking properly. Always uneven results. Finally called for service, just in time before the warranty expired. The service rep informed me that I had not bought a convection oven. Well, duh! Of course, I knew that! He tested the temperature levels inside the oven and found a variance of 10 degrees Celsius, which he reported by phone to the company. He advised me to reach into the oven half-way through any baking process to turn my cake around, and it would bake evenly. I asked him if he had ever tried that himself. No, he said, he was not a baker. That was the end of the service call. No follow-up, no service. Today I learned that the company actually has this exchange in its records, but if I want to get the oven to work properly Ill have to pay for service, as the warranty has expired. I wonder what would happen if I ever tried the self-clean or Sabbath mode features on this oven.
In November 2012 we purchased a Whirlpool Gold Series refrigerator, model WRF990SLAM from Lowes. This model has the ice maker in the door. We also purchased an extended warranty. In July of 2013, we contacted Lowes service because the refrigerator had ice inside it, top left, where the ice maker equipment is located. Also, under the ice bin, there was a solid block of ice. Water was dripping onto our food inside the refrigerator. August 6, a 3rd party repair company came and replaced parts. One week later, the same issue was happening. We called for service again. It took until 9/9 for them to come out again, and replace the same parts. Approximately 2 weeks later, SAME problem. This time, I called Whirlpool directly. I was told that they (Whirlpool) are aware of the problem with this model, and they should have new parts in by the end of the month that will fix that problem. They even have a special team for this! I asked for their direct number (866-461-2287). On 10/7 I phoned again asking for a status update. I was told that they were just waiting for approval to call consumers to set appointments, and I should hear from them by the end of the week. I also informed them that I was no longer able to use the ice maker or water dispenser because it was now leaking substantially into the refrigerator. They made a note of it. As of today, 10/13, I have not had a call back. This refrigerator cost us nearly 2500.00 and has a known defect! Tomorrow, Monday 10/14, I will begin to demand a new refrigerator (different model!) via Lowes AND Whirlpool. Too bad Whirlpool. Were now going to buy a new gas range...and I can guarantee you it will NOT be a Whirlpool!
This Whirlpool Gas oven with 5 burner top is very good and has given us 12 years of good service so far. The only issue is that the stovetop and oven are not easy to clean and keep clean. The finish is good and has no chips. I would expect the top to be easier to clean and keep clean with the finish technologies available. Same for the oven window glass - it is not easy to clean and keep clean.
I purchased a Whirlpool Side by Side Stainless Refrigerator with Water and Ice Dispenser Model #GSF26CYEXY03 and Serial #HR22908384 for $1397 in October 2012 from Orvilles Home Appliance (GREAT COMPANY!!!). It had problems from day one. The handle wouldnt even attach on the one door so Orvilles graciously went back to their main store and took a handle off their display and put it on ours until the new one was delivered. Then there was a $100 rebate on the fridge. Unfortunately, we misplaced the paperwork and sent the rebate in a little late. We apologized for the delay. The end result was a declined rebate. That was one of the reasons that we chose this particular model in the first place.Next, both of our doors rusted. After Orvilles contacted Whirlpool and went back and forth with them, Whirlpool decided to replace both doors. So Orvilles came back to our house and changed them. The guys were baffled about the rust. Thank goodness that it was still under warranty for that. Next problem was the ice dispenser. It makes ice perfectly but dispensing it is another thing. For the last year we have had to take the ice bin out and empty it and start from square one over a dozen times. I contacted Whirlpool just the other day and was told Sorry. Its out of warranty! We can arrange for you to have the Repair + 1 for a total charge of $356 and then you will have a 1 year operational warranty with that. My thought was REALLY!!! While I was on the phone I mentioned the next problem with it.This problem is with all 3 storage drawers. The fronts of all of them have broken off and now I had to tape them. They all broke within a matter of a few months apart. When I talked to the girl from Whirlpool, I told her that I looked them up and the drawers cost about $54 each. Her answer was I know and I am sorry maam. Unfortunately there isnt anything we can do. Thats why I choose my appliances very carefully! I was shocked to hear that. Just to sum everything up... I am so glad that I spent $1400 to have so many problems and then was given the opportunity (which I declined) to spend another $356 to repair an appliance with icemaker problems and then be expected to spend another $150 to replace plastic drawers. This company is absolutely terrible!
I used their website to schedule an appointment for an estimate for a repair on my oven. I was never told they were sending an independent contractor to do the repair nor that there would be a charge for the estimate. I contacted Whirlpool and was told there is nothing on their website and I should have asked the service technician before he was at my door if there would be a charge. Therefore, it was my fault and I indeed had to pay the charge when I declined to have my oven repaired. I paid an independent contractor hired by Whirlpool for $129 to give me an estimate on the repair to my oven despite never being told of such a charge prior to the appointment.
Purchased from Home Depot and self-installed. That part was not too big a deal but after installing this stove we started a journey of irritation, aggravation and general dissatisfaction. This stove has the standard layout for burners that seem to be common to most low-end stoves. Two huge burners in the front, a simmer burner at the right rear and a general purpose burner at the left rear. Thats all wrong for me and our set up. I want a large burner at the left rear and general purpose every place else. Can you alter the standard configuration? NO! Not without some major alterations to the stove top.Next are the grills or cast cooktops (2 each). They are a bit cumbersome when cleaning the stove but doable. The real problem with the grills are Whirlpool decided to save money by skimping on this feature. The grills are not a stable cooking platform for smaller pans and it turns out Whirlpool recommends square pans for this stove. SAY WHAT? I have pans and skillets from my grandparents and they are ALL round. Thats how that stuff is made. ROUND! The grills design is unstable for any round pot, pan or skillet, if its diameter, is 6 or less. Kiss that excellent saucepan goodbye if you have this stove. My current solution is a piece of light expanded steel over the burner areas.Keeping in mind we use Propane as our heating gas. The adjustment of the flame temp on the four burners is non-existent. They all are either on high, medium or low. There seems to be no fine tuning with these burners. At the end of the day go look for something that is NOT a Whirlpool, LP gas range Model #: WFG515S0EW. You will be better served and less irritable with almost anything else. Even a campfire in the yard is a better choice.
After only 14 months of light use, the magnetron in my over-the-range Whirlpool stainless steel microwave failed. The cost to repair was $350. I paid $450 for the whole unit upon purchase. I wrote to Whirlpool with documentation and got a voicemail that they were sorry, but the 12-month warranty had expired. The independent repair person said it is the Korean manufacturer of the magnetron that is the problem. He is replacing units all over town on all kinds of models Whirlpool is involved with, including KitchenAid. Whirlpool needs to get their money back from Korea! I will never buy another Whirlpool product and have told them so.
Purchased Whirlpool free standing smooth top range at Sears Outlet (scratch & dent) in Columbus, OH on December 8, 2012 for a rental property. On May 18, 2014, tenant said she turned the oven on to preheat and turned on one of the front burners. She said she was at the sink preparing food and heard a loud noise; turned around and there were flames coming from the top of the stove. This didnt sound logical so I called fire department and spoke with one of the firemen. He said there was no evidence of anything in the oven or on top of the stove. Tenant said only thing she noticed is that there was a clicking noise coming from the stove a few days prior. After reading all of these complaints, I dont think I will buy another smooth top Whirlpool electric range. Luckily no one was hurt.
Oven was purchased new from Home Depot. Right off, the top black glass surface got scratched. Not sure how it happened. Seems to scratch easily. Then, the oven temperature for baking was found to not hold consistent. While pre-heating the oven for 350 F, the temperature goes up to 375 F, then well into the baking time, can drop to 100 degrees less (275 F). Oven feature is called accu bake. It ruined the baking and seems to be anything but.
I have a double oven. The bottom oven takes a long time to warm up. Good oven overall. I would definitely recommend this oven. The timer functions seem to work well and it is self cleaning as well.
We have had Whirlpool front loading washers for 15 years. The first had a bad bearing problem, that was eventually fixed, but still disappointing. The second doesnt is missing some features that the old one had. All and all I am happy with this washers and do not know of anything better, within my price range.
Our fridge was delivered the 24th of Jan. We called on the 19th of June because the fridge stopped working. The 24th Capital Refrigeration came out and said he ordered the parts, they would likely be there on the on Fri. the 28th. On the 5th the parts werent in yet. On the 5th of July I called Whirlpool to find out whats going on and the parts were on backorder. They would expedite the parts. The parts came in the 12th. Our Whirlpool refrigerator was delivered on the 24 of Jan. It quit working on the 19th of June so we called Lowes. They hooked us up with Whirlpool. They sent a tech the 24th. He (Mike with Capital Refrigeration) left saying he ordered the parts and they would likely be in on that Friday the 28th. I call Lowes on Mon. the 1st. They hooked me up with Whirlpool and they said the parts were being shipped that day and should be to Capital Refrigeration on Fri. the 5th. I called on the 5th and now the parts are on backorder (they didnt know they didnt have the parts). So the parts came in on the 12th. Capital Refrigeration came out, installed all new circuit boards. That didnt work, still no fridge (he suggest replacing the fridge but Whirlpool says no). So he orders new parts. He comes out on the 17th and installed new parts (coils and stuff). It worked for 3 days and quit again, I lost my food again. I call Lowes again. They hook me up with Whirlpool. They say theyre sending a different company. On the 19th A1 Quality Appliance calls, set up appointment for 23rd. The come out and say they are ordering the parts on the 25th. They say that Whirlpool said parts would arrive Mon. the 29th. On the 30th A1 Quality said the parts arent in but they have us scheduled for Wed. the 31st. NO PARTS. I called whirlpool and now I find out again they dont even have the parts again (they dont know they dont have the parts). They are on backorder and in a week call them to see if they have found the parts yet.So at the end of a week (the 7th of Aug.) Whirlpool said to call and see if they found this part yet (maybe not). It will have been 7 weeks without a fridge that broke when in use less than 5 months. They have told us the parts would be here 3 times and then find out all these parts have been on backorder every time. The 1st repairman Mike at Capital Refrigeration advised to replace the unit but they are still dragging this out. They did send us $150 for the inconvenience (not for all the food we lost). It would appear it will be 2 months before we have a refrigerator again if we are lucky. Whirlpool is a very poor company that has misled us several times and are still doing so. We purchased their refrigerator, double stacked oven, microwave and dishwasher and are very sorry. They say they record the calls if there is any doubt about my facts.
Whirlpool has electronic controls allowing exact temperature settings. It is an excellent range and it has a storage drawer under the oven for storage of pots and pans. It also has sealed burners so no gunk gets under the burners.
I have a Whirlpool oven and dishwasher and have had nothing but problems with them both since day one! Our oven went out Christmas and couldnt get service on it and we were entertaining for Christmas. DONT EVER BUY A WHIRLPOOL PRODUCT!!! If you do you have no one to blame but yourself.
This is the second time since I have bought my Whirlpool top loading washing machine, which was January 1, 2011. During a power outage, I was washing clothes and my machine lid would not unlock after our power came back on. I called the warranty service and they made arrangement for a repair man to come out to repair it, but the appointment was in two days. Meanwhile, I had clothes in the machine I needed and was afraid they would become molded and no good. So my husband opened the lid and I removed the clothes. When the repair man came, he was not going to repair the machine because we opened the lid. He was very rude, but after doing some talking he repaired the lid. Now, once again we had a power outage while I was washing clothes and the lid is locked on the washing machine and will not open. This happened Friday, March 16, 2012; my appointment for the repairman to come is Tuesday, March 20, 2012. Meanwhile, my clothes are sitting in the machine wet because we were told not to try to open the lid and wait for the repair service to come. I am very concerned my clothes will be molded and I will be unable to use them. I would never buy another washing machine like this one. Model number is WTW4800X, Standard/Ordinaire VOXr8ENA(3B). Date of purchase: January1, 2011.
Cabrio Whirlpool Washer - Bought this washer from HHGregg in Orange Park, Florida. This washing machine is horrible!! It does not fill the tub with water enough to even cover the clothes. Some of the clothes are not even wet. They just sit in dirty water, no agitation. Then it refills with water and the rinse water is dirty, there is no agitation or movement during the wash cycle. My clothes are stained and dried food and dirt are still on the clothes. My white clothes are now gray. This is the worst machine. I have tried everything. I am now hand washing the clothes and trying to add water to at least cover the clothes but the sensor just drains the extra water out. This machine is less than a year old. There should be a class action lawsuit against Whirlpool. I am not the only one; everyone that has this machine says it is a nightmare.
My Whirlpool microwave broke. Im not sure how or why so today I purchased another 2 actually. Both were too big. The model I purchased is discontinued. I had to remove part of my Marble Backsplash - the turntable is tiny however mic is huge. Work on making microwave for smaller areas. Stick to get or Samsung for a nice size microwave not a Mongo mega oven above your oven.
GFG461LVT2 - In October of 2010 I purchased a Whirlpool Gold Fridge and Stove. Its been about 3.5 years and two of the caps that go on top of the range burners are chipped. All of the caps are badly stained and despite the manual instructions to wash them in mild soapy water, they do not come clean. They dont come clean using heavy duty Easy Off cleaner. In addition, the seal on the oven door has apparently failed because the glass is foggy on the inside. Today I phoned Whirlpool after going to their website. I first spoke to a parts representative who advised that I would have to pay $47.00 per cap or $115.00 for all five burner caps. I was transferred to another department as I thought I should get the appliance parts and door fixed for free. The appliance is only 3.5 years old. I was told that the appliance is only guaranteed for 1 year and I would have to pay dearly to remedy the two problems. This appliance is Whirlpools Gold series. It supposed to be top-of-the-line - the price tag was certainly top of the line. Im very disappointed in American workmanship and the companys lack of integrity. Not too long ago I purchased a Whirlpool (aka Maytag) front loading washer. I now own a Samsung. The point is that designed obsolescence will force consumers to purchase products made outside of the US because some of us cannot afford to buy or repair appliances, cars, etc., every couple of years.
My oven is less than 2 years old. The blue enamel has had cracks for over a year & was told its cosmetic & theres nothing that they can do about that. Now its starting to pop off. I found a few slivers in a vegetable dish! Now I cant even use the top oven because of this! It seems to only affect the bottom of the top oven. I feel that the temp may be getting too hot for the blue enamel which is another safety concern. I have contacted Whirlpool/KitchenAid to be told that if they send out a repair person he would just use a marker on chips. I was told they would give me an employee discount from $3000 to $1800 to replace but I would have to act right away for that price! Really? My oven is only 1 & a half old. When I started researching this problem I am having I found many complaints of people having the same problem! As a consumer I feel so mad & frustrated that they are not doing anything about this since its an ongoing complaint from so many dissatisfied consumers. I do believe it is a safety & health risk now that its showing up in the food that has been cooked in that oven. I would urge anyone thinking of buying a Whirlpool/KitchenAid cobalt blue enamel oven not to! They will not stand behind their product & you will have to replace at your own expense. Shame on you Whirlpool!
I bought the Whirlpool WTW 5000DW1 washer and dryer to go with it. Within the first 2 weeks the plastic handle broke on the dryer. Ive been using the corner of the plastic handle ever since to open the dryer. The washer is the worst washer I have ever purchased in my life. The tub doesnt fill up over the clothes half the time. It is perfectly balanced on the floor but it always bounces around and you cannot open it to rearrange the clothes because they lock the lid. The only option is to try to hold it and wait for it to finish or start over by pressing the button for at least 3 seconds. I have had a few items get shredded by it and a lot of times the clothes dont get cleaned and rinsed properly. Even on 2 rinse option. Just the fact that it has a 2 rinse option is a big red flag. It is supposed to be a energy saver and water saver but that isnt true. If you have to wash and rinse the clothes twice because it has spots from the detergent still on the sheets, something just isnt right. Whirlpool shouldnt even put a product like this on the market. I have owned many Whirlpool products before this but this is the last Whirlpool product I will ever buy. Obviously Whirlpool doesnt test its products or care about quality.
My landlord purchased a new Amana washer (NTW4605EW0) Labor Day weekend 2015. It started having issues in the spring, so we went through the process of utilizing the manufacturers warranty. Apparently, Amana, part of Whirlpool, requires 5 attempts at repairing the machines before replacing. Okay, so starting in June 2016, we arranged service appointments 5 times and replaced 1 part, then another, 4 times. Clearly, that part is defunct. Right? Fast forward to September and then into October. Get a new washer, and not the one I preferred. We got the Whirlpool WTW4816FW1. Before the installers leave, we are having the SAME issue. Stops midcycle, doesnt finish cycle, sometimes stops while filling, or while full, or kid wash, or mid drain... But now with the new washer, the drain and spin cycle thinks it should FILL instead of drain... and Whirlpool said they would get someone out the next day, a promise they cannot keep because they dont supply the repair guy, they source with local companies. So, the company ordered 3 parts... That could be the problem. And 4 days later, 2 parts are on freaking BACK ORDER. Parts arrive. All new parts replaced. Machine still doesnt work. Outlet tested by us and them and it is fine. The techs think there is some kind of RF interference. Turn off sensor light, which is on the same wall, unplug power to wifi router (which outdates the washer). Still, doesnt work.I have spent half my week, every week, since June, restarting my washer, unplugging the damn thing, waiting, and waiting, trying again and again and again to wash 2 loads of laundry a week... Literally takes a week until the damn thing does its job. Whirlpool is sent us a replacement washer. Can you guess what happened the first time we started it? SAME ISSUE. Cycle will not complete. Sometimes it dies before it even fills. Sometimes it dies while filling. Sometimes, it will fill and fill and drain and fill and fill and drain and... never stop filling. Or, the fun one, the drain and spin cycle thinks it is suppose to fill. Continuously. And then, suddenly, after unplugging it for 1 hr, or 24, or 72 hrs, it will work fine for 1-7 cycles. Nothing is consistent except that it doesnt work consistently. HAS ANYONE HAD THIS MUCH TROUBLE???
Are there negative numbers for ratings? Horrible, to say the least. Whirlpool is the parent name for KitchenAid ovens. I have an electric oven and the glass on the front door exploded! Whats worse is that I have been given the complete run-around! I have called, wrote, waited, and tried ordering through other companies--still no luck! How does Whirlpool get away with this? It seems that Whirlpool no longer makes the part!! Do they really expect consumers just to replace an oven every few years? Poorest customer satisfaction I have ever experienced! This should be a consumer fraud grand suit, as there are numerous complaints about the same issue with Whirlpool appliances! Stay away from this company by all means!
I purchased the Whirlpool touchscreen gas convection range and I do not recommend this product at all. The oven cannot operate without using the touchscreen to set the temperature and it has a mind of its own. Woke up in the middle of the night and the oven turned itself on to 550 broil. I called Whirlpool, they sent a tech out who replaced the touchscreen and the same problem is happening. Not engineered very well. The range would have been fine without the touchscreen, if only it had an old fashioned knob to set the temp. I do not recommend buying this appliance.
I purchased their washer, dryer, refrigerator, freezer, oven, and dishwasher. All were brand new when my home was built in 2006. Whirpool is the absolute worst home appliance company in both customer service and product. I would save my money and purchase any product other than a Whirlpool or Maytag. All of my appliances are a little over 5 years old and all have had multiple problems. Corporate takes the attitude of oh well, pay for the multiple repairs or buy new after 5 years or less. Ive never heard of disposable appliances, but Whirlpool has a full line of them! I would rate them less than 1 and just plain **!
We have owned Whirlpool Oven/Range for 3 years, and about 4 times a year, on oven setting over 400 degrees, we get an error message, beeping, and the oven needs to be reset. We also own other Whirpool appliances, and caveat emptor. Buy another brand, please.
Purchased the Whirlpool electric range with aqua lift technology. Have the stove for 21/2 yrs and have tried contacting Whirlpool on numerous occasions. Email and telephone. Only response I get from them, is that Im doing something wrong. How can you do anything wrong? Add water, push button. I finally put in a call to World Headquarters but had to leave message and nobody has returned call. I finally called a whirlpool serviceman and he told me the Aqua lift is not a true self cleaning oven. The temperatures dont get hot enough. It was meant to just loosen the dirt on the bottom and then you have to scrub. The button you press to start the process on the stove states SELF CLEANING. I believe they have mislead the public with their advertising. Im thinking about any options I may have.
Ill never buy Whirlpool appliances again. I purchased all new kitchen appliances less than 3 years ago. The range had electrical issues within the first year, which was extremely scary. Thankfully because of the warranty they took it back, reimbursed me for it and I replaced it with a GE. I absolutely love the GE. The dish in the microwave never stays on its track in the center. Its quite an inconvenience to fix it almost daily. The top rack in the dishwasher constantly breaks, drops down on one side. Random parts from inside the dishwasher constantly come loose and fall off. But the worst of all....my refrigerator has broken down twice in 6 months from the same issue due to no fault of my own. To give some credit, Whirlpool fixed it out of warranty the first time. However the same issue happened 6 months later and they are expecting me to pay for it. The repair company contracted with Whirlpool covers their parts under warranty, however different parts need to be ordered. I had to pay for these parts, a service call and labor. Whirlpool came out with a service pointer on this because they know its a manufacturing defect but are refusing to cover the cost. The representative I spoke to was nasty and inconsiderate but sadly the manager was even worse. DONT buy Whirlpool!!! I recommend GE, youll be much happier. Worst customer service and support.
I have had my Whirlpool electric oven for so many years that I don’t even remember when I purchased it. I also have a Whirlpool stove top & the same with it. Zero trouble for many years. I highly recommend Whirlpool range tops & ovens.
I am so frustrated with my Whirlpool Gold Wall oven with Accubake system. It has been on for 12 hours in clean mode. The door is locked. My home is full of smoke and even though I turned off the breaker so no power would go to it, it is still locked and hot two hours later. This is the second time this has happened. Not only is it a fire hazard, my walls are hot to the touch. It is frustrating. There is no override of the clean mode. BTW, I was baking when the inside light switched on and off and the door locked down. I was nowhere near it and it was the second batch I was baking so I did not touch the clean button. It did it itself.
These products (Dishwasher, refrigerator, cooktop, and wall ovens) are less than 5 years old and everyone of is in of repair. The cooktop and wall ovens the repair on them would equal the price of a new one. I feel that the products should last more just a few years and also their warranties. This tells me they do not stand by quality of their products.
I purchased the Whirlpool Gold series cook top range-stainless steel. It is of good quality and looks very nice. It is also easy to clean and for the price it has a self cleaning oven. I didnt think that I would like this range but over a period of time I truly love cooking on it.
On December 24, I was planning my annual Christmas Eve dinner when my oven just decided to quit working completely. This was the third time my oven broke down on me. I called Whirlpool and they pretty much told me theyll get to me when they can but it was the holiday. So I understood that it would be a few days. I had a technician come out to my house on December 27 and tell me that he needed to order a fuse. He called all over the state to find one but no one had one so he put it as an emergency. The technician did everything he could to accommodate me but could only do so much. So I waited and waited but heard nothing.Today, January 3, I called the department to see when my part was going to be here and they tell me January 10 - unacceptable. I called the management team and spoke with Tiffany who pretty much just told me, Sorry. You have to wait five business days to find out if the part is available. If not, then we can discuss sending new ovens. Why would we have to wait five business days from January 3 when it was ordered on December 27? Look, Im a very reasonable woman and this is the first time I have ever complained online about a company. But I have gone 10 days without an oven and I have a family that I cook for daily. My ovens are four months old so this should not be happening. And when it does, there should be parts to fix it or a replacement on hand because no family should have to go without an oven when they just paid a ** load of money for it. Customer Service should be a little more sympathetic and a little less about business because at the end of the day, theyre not the ones suffering, we are. Also if this part is on back order, that tells me that this probably happens often. Maybe Whirlpool should recall this oven model because whoever heard of an oven overheating? Get it together. I will spread the word of mouth about my experience!
Extremely disappointed in Whirlpool oven! Built new home and this was recommendation by BAC Appliance. The oven does not self-clean well at all, and my spills are minimal. Deposits between glass doors that cant be removed. Oven is barely cleaner than before I cleaned for full cycle. Oven suddenly shuts off for a short while and then restarts. Steam comes when using lower oven and removes finish on upper oven. I expected Whirlpool to have a quality product. Definitely not! BAC really had no answers for me.
Whirlpool White Ice gas range with aqualift technology. Whirlpool uses a self-cleaning technology called AquaLift to clean the oven. It does not work. It does not clean the oven no matter how many times you run the cycle. I have contacted Whirlpool 3 times and they did respond. They first suggested buying their oven cleaner. I purchased the oven cleaner and it did not work! They then said that aqualift will only clean the bottom of the oven (it does not). Who buys a brand new oven that does not have a self-cleaning feature? I read reviews online prior to buying this oven and unfortunately for me, there were no bad reviews. However, I just checked again and there are numerous reviews stating that aqualift technology did not work for them either. This oven bakes but it does not clean and Whirlpool will tell you not to use oven cleaners in your gas oven because they will damage the surface of the oven. I currently have a very dirty oven and no effective way to clean it! Do not buy this oven if you want a self-cleaning oven. This oven should be recalled and money refunded. I would never knowingly buy an oven that does not self-clean. This Whirlpool with Aqualift is not effective and the company had to test this before it was marketed. I do not know which brands to recommend at this point as I am stuck with a Whirlpool gas oven that does not self-clean. The oven is only 1.5 years old so I will be stuck with this oven for a few years. Do extensive research before you buy any appliance.
Compared to others it gets the dishes clean and is easy enough to operate. Like everything else it has more bells and whistles than I want or use. Fill it up, put soap in and punch the desired settings and it does what it is programmed to do. Overall size seems to be like all the other models Ive used. Stainless with buttons on top of door. The top basket/drawer has latches that get tripped allowing the basket to drop down and confusing my wife. Not the best arrangement IMHO. Seems like the spacing of the supports in the bottom basket are off, but that may be due to our plates and bowls shapes.
My oven had been temperamental since day one, then got worse over time. I do not use my oven that much so was not really worried or alarmed until a tray of cookies caught fire. It was set at 350 and jumped to 525 on its own. (I bought an oven thermometer to monitor) Minor burn taking tray out but all okay :-). Contacted Lowe’s where we bought it and they would do nothing (note: at this point the oven is 15-months old and out of warranty). Advised me to contact Whirlpool. Did that - they sent out a repair service and they determined it was the temp. sensor. It is now April 2014 and I am still waiting for the part (this all started Sept 2013). I have since talked and wrote to Whirlpool for this to be resolved and also asked that the range be recalled due to fire hazard at the least! When I spoke to them in December, they said they could give me ‘50% off the part’. Remember I am still waiting for that part, lol! After writing corp h/q, they said “Sorry, since we cant get the part why not have someone come in and take the old part out and have it rebuilt.” I ask you Whirlpool w/q would you be happy with that??? Will post any follow-ups... would love to hear from anyone else with this problem - model # GFE461LVS. Great day everyone. :-)
My double oven is only 6 years old - it stopped working on xmas day, had a repair man look at it. He has phoned Whirlpool and has not had his calls returned to buy the part needed. Why is this. I need my oven, why is Whirlpool making it so hard for me to have it repaired.
I bought a Whirlpool over the stove microwave. It was to replace a GE that was over nine years old. 40 days after purchase and installation the plastic started chipping and peeling. I contacted Whirlpool customer service and was told that it was a cosmetic problem and my warranty stated that I had thirty days of warranty on cosmetic problems. This was a problem because chipping and cracking didnt happen within 30 days. The chipping and cracking continued to get worse. I again called customer service because the warranty stated that workmanship and bad parts were covered up to one year. I was told that because it was over my stove that this was to be expected. I thought this was a dumb answer because had I known that an over the stove microwave would have problems from cooking I would have installed it in my living room over the television. I called customer service several times. One of the times I called I talked to a representative who actually acted as if she wanted to help me. She suggested sending an e-mail with pictures and gave me an e-mail address. I did this and got no response. I was getting close to the warranty expiration date. I called again and was told that pictures wouldnt work; I would have to pay to have a serviceman come out and write a statement saying that it was not cosmetic. The cracking and chipping is so bad that I cant clean parts of the door because the cloth or sponges catch on the cracks. The door on the GE microwave did not look as bad after nine years of use as the Whirlpool does after 1 year and 8 days of use. I am not the smartest person in the world but I know the difference between poor quality material and workmanship as opposed to cosmetic problems. Im pretty sure that if my wife put her makeup on and pieces of her face started cracking and falling off she wouldnt want to hear that it is not a real problem its only cosmetic. Bottom line is I am very dissatisfied with the poor customer service and warranty problems I have experienced. I will not buy another Whirlpool product and would strongly suggest to others to buy any brand but Whirlpool.
In defense of Whirlpool, I will preface my question with the fact that I did attempt to call them and they were closed and Ive used manual to troubleshoot. Problem: when I cook any baked good in top smaller oven, the cookies, etc. on front of pan closest to door bake even and are not burned. All cookies on back half of sheet are burned and not cooked thoroughly. Any advice or similar experience to share would be so appreciated.
On 1/24/12, I replaced a 15 year old water heater that had started to leak after years of faithful service. The new Whirlpool unit heated water to a tepid level only, and that was obtainable only after running several faucets at a time, full bore. I used the product manual to trouble-shoot and was unable to find the problem, so I called Whirlpool customer service and was told that I would need to have a plumber come and and inspect the plumbing before a technician could be sent to check the water heater. I was not very happy about that, but complied. The next day, a plumber inspected the lines and fittings, tested the pressure and agreed that the problem was likely a faulty water heater. That cost me $95.00. I called Whirlpool again. This time, I was told that I should have had the plumber call Whirlpool while he was still at my home! The customer service representative agreed to authorize a service call, and I was given the phone numbers of three companies to choose from. Apparently, I chose wrong. The plumber seemed experienced and was very friendly. He was at our home for about 40 minutes, made a cursory inspection and said the problem did indeed seem to be with the unit, and he would return to his office to contact Whirlpool and arrange for a replacement unit and he would call back. Tellingly, I realize in retrospect, he did not give me a receipt. After several hours, I called the company and was told Whirlpool had not yet called them, and if I did not hear from them soon, I should call Whirlpool myself. This seemed reasonable to me, and I did so, at which point I realized I had been lied to from the start. The Whirlpool representative said that the service technician stated that he had run an isolation test, obtained hot water from the water heater, advised the homeowner (me) that the problem was in the plumbing, and I possibly had crossed lines. She also told me that the technician had said that he had difficulty making the homeowner understand what he was trying to explain. A complete and utter falsehood. I asked her how an isolation test was carried out, and that I would call the plumber to see what was going on, as this was not what we had been told. I was livid and called the plumbing company back just in case there was some honest mistake. Of course, there wasnt. I would like Whirlpool to be made aware that the company that they contract with is disreputable and has a history of deceitful practices. I found many negative reviews, and in fact the sort of treatment I received seems to be their modus operandi, no receipt, never a call back, assure the customer their problem will be covered under warranty, misrepresent the the service performed. The reason I add this last statement is that at no time was the new water heater disconnected, drained, refilled and allowed to return to operating temperature; the so-called isolation test a process which Whirlpool told me takes about two hours. This test did not take place. I previously stated that the technician was only at our home for forty minutes. There was no test of water temperature. I have since replaced my water heater with another brand--it works fine and there were no plumbing problems! I thought the name Whirlpool meant something. I have owned quite a few Whirlpool appliances over the years, in fact my new washing machine is Whirlpool. But I am definitely disinclined to purchase this brand again. I am so disappointed with the service I received from Whirlpool, a huge waste of time and money, and I am out $95.00 for nothing. I think Whirlpool should reimburse me for this, as the original (honest) plumber was correct. My water heater was defective and should have been replaced at that time. If it had been, you would probably still have a customer.
Whirlpool Cabrio WTW7340XW washer is a piece of junk! I have had issues since the day I bought it and havent even had some of the failed parts that other people are talking about. It does not save water. I went from 5000 gal to 13000 gal in one month! It doesnt wash clothes. Everything comes out with the same spots they went in with and then some. Light colors come out with what looks like grease spots and whites come out with black spots. I have had it five months and have used six of the monthly cleaning tabs. Clothes get tangled and torn because of the speed of the spin cycle even on delicate. This unit needs to be recalled and redesigned or customers should be offered a different washer of their choice within the price range of this unit.
We purchased this one (Wall Mount Model # WMH76719CS) on July 30, 2015. About one month ago I started noticing that a simple large cup of water to make tea or instant coffee takes more than 2 minutes on power 10 to heat up enough. It used to take about 1 1/2 minutes. Now, Im no mathematician, but I believe thats about 25% power loss in 6 months. The same applied to any convection dinner Ive tried to cook lately. Im going to say that Im dissatisfied with the convection feature and would rather just bake the silly food in the regular oven as usual. Any planned-overs trying to re-heat is taking much longer as well as melting butter. I do not have much confidence in Whirlpool microwaves right now, and may never again.
Our slide in range had a burned out element. After waiting a week for the part the range still did not heat. The real problem was the control panel at a cost of $300 plus labor. We were so discussed with the problem we purchased a different brand range. Who should be purchasing a new range after 18 months???? Cost of service call twice, part cost of element, and new range all total another $600.00. Do not purchase this product!!!
Never buy a Whirlpool water heater. Theyre junk and they dont honor warranties. NO wonder theres a lot of bad reviews. Im one of those suckers. You would think Whirlpool would do a better job. But the blessing in all this I wont have to deal with Whirlpool again. Including washer and dryer, ref, stove, dishwasher and etc.
I purchased this stove in September and I am very unhappy with the Aqualift. The service department said I would have to probably do the cleaning process about 7-8 times for it to really work. I find that very unacceptable would never recommend this to anyone.
This flat top electric range has a cooktop large enough to accommodate several large cooking pots at the same time and is so easy to clean. A feature I love is the Keep Warm burner. The two front burners have 2 different heating ranges to accommodate small or large pots or pans. The self-cleaning convection oven heats evenly and provides 2 oven racks for maximum use. Whirlpool does it right every time.
Remember the old movie classic Network, with the line, Im mad as hell and Im not going to take it anymore? Well, that is me and my new self-cleaning Whirlpool ranges that requires a manual cleaning kit (provided by Whirlpool after my purchase). I am angry enough that I have approached an attorney and I hope that if you have your own story about an AquaLift fail, you will include it on my website **. Thanks...
I have purchased 2 Ikea/Whirlpool ovens in 2011 from Ikea in Canada. I have used the self clean feature on both ovens and both ovens quit completely and the doors stayed locked. This problem is discussed hundreds of times on the internet for Whirlpool, Ikea and Kitchen Aid ovens. Since they are all made by Whirlpool they are all very similar or exactly the same in some cases, as is the problem. I have discussed this with Ikea and they have said they didnt know about the problem but would help to get it fixed to my satisfaction. I have had Whirlpool authorized service repair both ovens but after trying the self clean feature again, same problem.During one of my conversations with an Ikea representative on the phone, she contacted Whirlpool and was told that if the oven was repaired 3 times and deemed by the service technician as unrepairable, Whirlpool would do a buyback. In other words according to Ikea, Whirlpool would take the oven and pay me what I paid for the oven. Well after contacting the authorized service dept (not Whirlpool itself) for the third time, they did some investigation with Whirlpool about the problem. To his and my amazement, Whirlpool has come up with a fix as of October 2013. The technician ordered the new kit and installed it in both ovens. I have since tried the self clean in one oven and this time it worked. For the information of others, Whirlpool has the kit and in it is an instruction sheet with pictures as to how to replace and install all the parts in the kit.I watched the installation, quite a process. From the instruction sheet there is a number on it. Here is the number - w10625529 rev. A 10/13. This is an instruction sheet for Ikea TOD (thermal overload device) service kit. I have looked at many of the service parts diagrams on the internet for many different current models of Ikea, Whirlpool and Kitchen Aid ovens and in most cases almost all the inside parts are the same or very very similar which leads me to the conclusion that this service kit may work in most of these ovens to correct the same problem, but I suggest checking with the appropriate service people before taking my word for it. My observation is that the kit moves the TOD off the top of the metal plate of the oven and onto a new bracket which the tech thought it was to get it further away from heat (this Im not sure of since Im not an expert). He also suggested that this kit may also be designed to allow more air flow around the oven.My only concern after having the self clean feature finally work is the heat produced inside the kitchen cabinet in which the oven is installed. Approximately an hour and a half after turning the self clean on, I felt the side of the cabinet between it and the fridge (open space), and at one area of the wood cabinet I could not hold my hand on the cabinet as it was too very hot. I will be checking the inside of the cabinet for signs of excess heat and if I see any evidence, I will again call the service people. Since the elements were not on when I checked this, I assume the self clean had finished the heat cycle and was in the process of cooling down. When I test the other oven, I will make sure the elements are still on as I can see them thru the glass door. When I checked the temperature of the outside wood cabinet using a laser thermometer, the outside wood registered 64 degrees C or 142 F approximately. Not sure what the inside temperature was as the oven was still in place. Hopefully I will not get a higher reading when the self clean is at its maximum temperature in the cleaning cycle. Will the oven create any problems in the future for the cabinet, I hope not but time will tell. For clarification, the cabinets were built by a kitchen cabinet company using the instruction sheet that came with the ovens. I hope some of this will be of help to some of the hundreds of people who have posted this very same problem on the internet. When you have paid for an appliance you wanted because of the features it came with, it should provide you with what you paid for and not constantly break down. Im lucky as they came with a 5-year warranty so it hasnt cost me anything yet and hopefully wont in the future. Good luck to all in getting this resolved for all of you.
The first thing I noticed after purchasing this stove was that the glass top did not clean properly. I used the product given to me by Sears and tried several others but still could not take marks off of the glass top. I never really used the oven that much until retired and started baking often. The self clean does not work at all unless by self clean they mean that you yourself cleans -- I should say scrub it down. I previously had a regular self clean and it truly self cleaned. All I did was take wet paper towel and wipe out. Yet when I asked the Sears saleswoman about how it cleans I was told that it was terrific -- I would not have any problems! What a laugh!
The worst washing machine ever. First off you cannot turn the water on to let it fill and add clothes as its filling. Secondly the Normal setting will not allow you to spin on low, your choice is high or no spin. High tangles your pants, slacks, shirts, etc. No spin leaves them soaking wet. Also its a water safer but never, never, never covers the clothes in water, and sometimes they dont come out smelling so clean. I dont save water if I have to rewash two or three times. Absolutely hate this washing machine. When I get enough money I am going back to the old agitator model and not any Whirlpool either. Oh and the other thing, you cant just throw you clothes in the washer, you must arrange then to the outside of the center itty bitty agitator. Hate it.
The dishwasher chopper blade broke, and the check valve is gone. My over-the-stove microwave handle came off in my hand, and the top cover for the fan fell off in a pan of hot grease and almost burned me. What the hell is wrong with this picture? I paid a lot of money for inferior products, and I cant find replacement parts anywhere. And they are expensive when you can find them.I have tried to get this resolved before I talked to a rep, and your computers were down. I will never buy another Whirlpool again, and I am spreading the word. Dont buy Whirlpool. I am thinking of posting this on Facebook.
My $2000 Whirlpool oven broke after only 2 years. Whirlpool only stands by their product for 12 months because they have no faith in their own product. They want me now to reward them with more money to purchase a years warranty.
The buttons that turns on the burners and oven turn on with a very light touch and start leaking gas and sometimes light. Its very dangerous and has done this since We got it new from Lowes. I wonder if there was a recall on this model or if lots of other customers have had the same trouble. Model #WFG524SLAS O Ser. # R20910336 We have had this stove about two years and My wife has kept after Me to report it , but I never realized how dangerous it really was until now. The previous stove We had you had to push in on the buttons and then turn them before they would light. Thank You.
Switched to bottom freezer and love the size. We all use and enjoy the filtered water. Whirlpool has proven to be a manufacturer I will always consider when making major appliance purchases for performance, service, and dependability.
We have had our Whirlpool oven for 3 years now. They make top of the line products and the oven cooks very well. I have cooked a lot of cakes and cupcakes in my Whirlpool oven. If I had to buy another oven it would be a Whirlpool.
The oven continues heating up even after it reaches temperature. This happen soon after we purchased it in 2009... When I called Whirlpool they said to unplug the oven for 15 min & allowed it to reset. This worked, that time. It has continued to happen to the point now where it will not reset and then we can no longer use our oven.
Do not purchase Whirlpool smart freestanding gas range model number WFG975HOHV. I purchased the range and the refrigerator around Christmas of 2018. The first time I turned the oven on to make Christmas dinner the carbon monoxide detector alarm went off. I have tried to use the oven twice after that and the same thing happened. The oven also never gets to 350. I spoke to Whirlpool who said to unplug the oven. They stated a technician would be sent with a carbon monoxide detector and to conduct repairs. The technician came and could not get the oven to 350 and the carbon monoxide detector alarmed. He stated he has to order parts and return to complete repairs. This is a brand new oven that I could not use because the carbon monoxide alarmed and the oven was not heating to 350 because it keeps restarting every few minutes. So here I am not able to use the oven for over a month and waiting for parts for a brand new range. Do not waste your money on Whirlpool products. Also the customer service has no empathy knowing their products are defective.
We purchased the Whirlpool double oven gas range from Lowes in July of 2014. The oven heat that boils out onto the stove top when you use either oven makes it difficult to handle the pots on the range top. The first time I used both ovens at the same time the plastic front to the control panel started to melt and the fumes were horrible. It was under warranty so Whirlpool replaced it with an identical panel that also melted when I used the top oven and range top at the same time. Its out of warranty so Whirlpool says its not their problem. From reading these other complaints it is obvious to me that customer satisfaction is not important to Whirlpool - just that profit margin. Build cheap - sell high should be their motto.
I purchased my range, model #WEG730H0DW0 in April 2016. I am extremely dissatisfied with the product and the Whirlpool service. I guess its comforting to know that Im not alone. Ive had two problems so far. The first is with the broiler that clicks on and off. It took several visits and a new electrical board for the service person and me to figure out that the door has to be closed to broil. Not sure about all of you but I am used to keeping the door cracked open to be able to keep an eye on the food being broiled. Apparently there is a thermostat at the front of the oven designed to keep the electrical controls from getting overheated or from melting so when the door is cracked open the heat from the broiler hits that thermostat and the broiler is shut off.The people at Whirlpool are awful and rude. I made so many calls and described the problem in so many ways and not one person knew about this newly placed thermostat or thought to ask about keeping the door closed. It took me and my service tech over an hour of troubleshooting on his SECOND visit to figure it out. He looked up the specs and we figured it out. I wonder how many new electrical boards have been replaced when the solution is as simple as keeping the door closed. A stupid design. Also having the same problems with the knobs. They turn so easily that twice I have smelled gas and realized one of the knobs was turned ever so slightly (before the clicking sound to ignite the stove). Then the third time could have been deadly. I had friends come pick me up and we stood in the kitchen for a bit before we left for the entire day. When we returned the whole house smelled of gas. Someone inadvertently must have brushed up against the stove and the knob turned. My dog, thankfully is still alive and so are we. THIS IS NOT ONLY A STUPID DESIGN BUT A POTENTIALLY DEADLY ONE!! I am forwarding this message directly to Whirlpool in the hopes of getting my money back. I am replacing the range immediately and will never purchase a Whirlpool product again!
Ive had this microwave for about a year and a half. Like some others I get the door sign frequently. I open the door and cant turn it on until the light goes on, which can take a minute to two. I have NEVER had problems with any microwave other than this one. I had a problem with the Whirlpool refrigerator too, which was fortunately still under warranty. I bought the fridge, oven and microwave as a deal. Trust me, there is no deal here. I will never buy this brand again. Lesson learned. Given other reviews, I might just buy another brand of microwave. Worth not having the hassle.
I closed on our new home in December 29, 2019! The first issue we experienced with our Whirlpool Oven was March 2020! The first technician who arrive in March 2020 was supposed to replaced two parts, but, one part in her possession was the wrong part that Whirlpool ordered for an electric oven, not a gas oven! Since March 2020, three additional technicians have been sent out from Texas Home Appliance Center, and accomplisnhed nothing! As a matter of fact, the third Technician, Edward, came out to service the oven and all he did was turn the oven on! He had no instruments and did not appear to check on any other issues! Three visits from Technicians later, I finally received a call from a Whirlpool Supervisor, today approximately, 1:47pm CST! Her explanation was the following: The documentation from the so-called professional technicians stated there was no issues with the oven! Even though the oven is still not operational according to its specs! Theres even one part that is missing where Whirlpool ordered the wrong part, ac cording to the Technician. And, we never heard from that Technician again with respect to the followup on the missing part! The Supervisor I spoke with today ~1:47pm today, Dec 9, 2020, stated I was welcome to call again to place a warranty work order, but, if they dont find anything wrong with the oven, I would have to pay for the visit! This is ridiculous on many levels. I will be writing other reviews to influence the public not to purchase Whirlpool Ovens if this is the kind of Customer Service Orientation they will received. This is unacceptable Customer Service Orientation! I have a Whirlpool oven, where 3 techncians have serviced it, and, it still doesnt perform correctly! It still takes 30 minutes to cook a can of biscuits, and, they still required more time in the oven! Whirlpool states if the documentation from the technicians states the oven is working properly, then, Whirlpool cannot do anything for us - even though the oven is still under warranty! UNACCEPTABLE! Ive purchased my last Whirlpool Oven!
I have made a conscious choice to remove baked food from my diet back in early 2013. That has not stopped my wife from pursuing her passion for baking from time to time. It goes without saying that baking requires a well functioning baking oven. The one that came with our home was a Whirlpool Wall Oven/Microwave combination. Sometime in early 2014 the Oven broke down. I had no choice but to replace the combination. After doing some online research and a couple of trips to stores like Sears, Home Depot and Lowes, we decided to drop $2700 of our hard earned dollars on a brand new Whirlpool WOC95EC0AS wall oven microwave combo to replace the old one. Lowes sent someone home to take measurement to make sure that we ordered the right size for the slot in our kitchen. 2 weeks after the purchase, around March 27th or 28th, we had the Microwave/oven combo installed in our kitchen by some Lowes provided installation contractor. After installing the appliance, the technician demoed both the microwave and the oven part of the combo. Everything looked good and we were happy to see the shiny new appliance adorning our kitchen. Little did we know then that this would start a seemingly unending horror story. For the first 3-4 weeks we used only the microwave and it worked as expected. Then one weekend, my wife decided to do some baking. The dough was prepared meticulously and then came the first surprise, the oven refused to turn on. Feature not available - the message scrolled across the LED display. And horror of horrors, the microwave started giving the same message immediately after. We looked online for solutions, and we found one that suggested that we try breaking the circuit for 1 minute and turn on again we tried it to no avail. And now we went from having a working microwave/broken oven to no microwave/no oven.We waited till the next day or so before placing a call to the customer service number provided in our warranty receipt. By now the 30 day return guarantee had expired and it was the end of April, 2014. Product was now under manufacturers warranty. Whirlpool/Lowes customer service scheduled a technician to come take a look at the oven.My wife took a day off from work and waited for the technician. The technician from J&H appliance repair of SJ came home, took a look and then tried breaking the circuit and turning it on again after a minute; of course, it did not work. After consulting with someone on the phone, he decided to order some parts the main circuit board. He promised to come back after the part arrived. We did receive a call from J&H to schedule an appointment to install the part and schedule a time we did. J&H decided to no-show us on the appointment and my wife wasted another day of her time-off from work.We called customer-service again and this time they decided to send in a technician from a Sears owned company called A&E Factory Service. A technician came home and he went through the same steps as the earlier technician from J&H. This time, it was my turn to stay home and welcome the visitor. Finally when there was no trick up his sleeves to left to try, he decided he is going to order the main board. A&E technician did something different, he ordered the part to my home. I called him as soon as it arrived. We scheduled a time and he arrived to install the part. I stayed home again. Well, result was no different and the appliance was in no mood to oblige to our coaxing and cajoling. Feature not available, it continued to bleep out. He ordered 2 more boards to my home. I stayed home again to welcome the technician and he arrived again to install the 2 new boards but the result was no different than the last time. Feature not available - the zombie appliance screamed. He told me that there is only one that remains to be done which is to replace the front panel circuitry so he ordered it. By now it was end of June. We hadnt used the oven for 3 full months and the microwave for 2 months.First week of July, a new technician from A&E showed up early in the morning to install the newly ordered front panel. Surprise, Surprise - Feature not available screamed the shiny lemon sitting in my kitchen wall. The technician asked me if I will be home the whole day and I said yes. Another technician, a supposedly senior expert came by that afternoon. He tinkered with it for a couple of hours and like all who came before him, he surrendered. He said there is nothing left to do with the oven and that he is going to recommend that the oven be replaced. He left me a voice mail next morning saying that I need to call Whirlpool myself and apprise them of my experience and ask for a replacement. So I called the customer service after a long 1 hour talk with customer service rep, followed by a conversation with his rude supervisor. I was told that Whirlpool no longer deals with A&E that they broke their relationship with them as of June 31st, 2014. I failed to understand why that was my fault. I was told they need to send technician from another company, can you guess the company whirlpool recommended? It would be funny, if it wasnt incredibly painful to deal with horrible customer support representatives yes, it was the the no-show company J&H. I told him Id have nothing to do with J&H. So they recommended their only other option, a company called AGO.AGO technicians started showing up at my house since early July and I waited with baited breath for them to suggest a way forward to a resolution. Well good thing that I didnt hold my breath for that to happen. AGO technicians have made 8-9 visits to my home during July and August with the last visit being on Aug 20th. They replaced all the boards that A&E guys had already replaced the previous month. On August 21st, I received a call from AGO rep saying that they have given up that the product is irreparable. They gave me a reference number and asked me to call Whirlpool for a final resolution.I called Whirlpool customer service on August 22, 2014 and Spoke to Jennifer and her supervisor for 32 minutes. They wanted to restart the whole process of sending technicians to my home. It would be funny if they hadnt stolen $2700 of my hard earned money + all the lost hours and productivity + vacation time lost + headache they caused + the pain of not having a working Oven/Microwave in our kitchen + dealing with rude customer service reps, I lost it. I threatened to put the whole recorded conversation on YouTube. The rude inconsiderate supervisor hung up on me.I called back after a few minutes and spoke with a tad bit more reasonable rep named Ashley. At least, she had the patience to hear me out without barking at me about what my rights are as a customer. Well she had no better solution than to suggest another technician appointment what was the excuse this time? That the last technician from AGO didnt call Whirlpools tech support line while he was at my house. As if that is my fault. I agreed and we setup an appointment for Wednesday, August 27, 2014 between 8AM and 12PM with the same old company J&H who no showed me once. Goes to show you who Whirlpools associates in business are. They had only two companies providing repair services in San Jose AGO and J&H.I took the morning off from work on Aug 27, 2014 and waited till 12 noon and there was no sign of technician. So I called Whirlpool customer service number one more time. As you would expect by now, a rude customer service person named Eva from Michigan picked up my call. It was reasonably clear to me during that conversation that the J&H technician no-showed because appointment was not communicated to them. She emphatically claimed that my warranty is not a product replacement warranty but a repair warranty and that she needs to send me a technician to take a look at the product. Can anyone believe it? She told me I have only one option either to accept the perpetual technician visits or she will note that I have rejected their offer to service the product. I told her I am not rejecting anything, just exploring all my options. She assured me I had no other options. The arrogance of these people! So here I am, several thousand of my hard earned money stolen by Whirlpool and I still have no working product. Adding insult to injury, 2 weeks ago I received a letter from Whirlpool pitching me to extend my 3 year extended warranty to 5 years. They want to inflict more pain and charge you for the privilege.I have more options than Eva would want me to know. Luckily I have legal coverage under my benefit plans at work. Even more importantly there is social media and internet. I am pursuing those options at the moment. Heres the summary: Lowes takes my $2700 on March 13th. I get the Wall Oven delivered and installed on March 27th. A total of at least 15 repair visits are made to my home between first week of March May and August 21 (I have started losing count). Time since product purchase: > 5 months. # of times the oven has worked : 0. Hours spent talking to rude customer service reps: 4-6 hours. Time spent at home baby sitting repair technicians : > 100 hours. Lowes, Inc washed their hand stating 30 day money back guarantee is over. Its customer service people were not of any help either. UPDATE 9/15/14:Within a few hours of publishing this post (on 9/2/14), I was contacted by both Lowes and Whirlpool via Twitter. Both the companies seemed genuinely interested in resolving this issue. After I DMed my appliance and contact information via twitter, Melissa from Whirlpool called me and left me a voice mail on Wednesday, Sept 3rd, 2014 informing that they have decided to replace the oven. I was told in that voice mail that I should expect a call from Whirlpool on the details of the exchange before end of day on Friday (Sept 5th). I was contacted by Lowes and I informed the Lowes rep that Whirlpool has agreed to replace my oven.I thought I would really be able to make a single update to the post informing the world that Whirlpool really made amends and tried to hard to correct the failures of the past. It is 9/15/14 today and I havent received any updates from Whirlpool about the how/when of the exchange. I made 2 customer service calls to Whirlpool last week. I was unable to speak to Melissa the first time, but did speak with another rep. She told me she will pass the information on to Melissa and ask her to contact me. She connected me to Melissas voice mail and I left her a voice mail. Melissas voice mail greetings suggested that I also contact her via Whirlpools customer service email for faster response. So I did that too.On Thursday 12:37PM pacific, I received a call from Melissa. She had no useful information to share with me. She is waiting for some paper pusher to do his/her job and could not make any promises as to when it will be resolved. My file is stuck in one of Whirlpools many bureaucratic bottlenecks. This is no personal indictment of Melissa it is just evidence that Whirlpools is not serious about customer satisfaction. My experience is not isolated as evidenced not just by this event but also by the number of people ranting on their social media handles. Here was an opportunity to rectify its mistake and win the confidence of a customer back and so far Whirlpool seems to be uninterested in any such thing.IMPORTANT UPDATE (9/16/14): Please share this story via your social media handles. It is important to hold these people accountable for their actions. It is also important that we inform consumer about the perils of doing business with these organizations. Thank you very much. UPDATE (9/17/14): Whirlpools customer supports twitter moniker is @WhirlpoolCare. LOL. They could have demonstrated care by resolving customer issues, instead they removed my permission to post to their Facebook Page. WhirlpoolCare indeed.:) I will be handling this mostly through Twitter follow me at **. I will be using hashtag #whirlpoolsux going forward. I would request that you do the same. Thank you.https://www.facebook.com/WhirlpoolCare.
Whirlpool Gold appliances are junk!!! Our dishwasher just stopped working one day. It was about 2 years old. We tried all the troubleshooting ideas we found on the internet. Nothing worked. I had a 13 Year old working dishwasher when I bought this one. Sure wish I had left well enough alone. I think there should be a class action lawsuit against Whirlpool. I had also purchased a new electric range... It is constantly giving me an error message when I try to use the oven. We have to flip the breaker and that sometimes helps. I bought 4 of the Gold appliances... I’m holding my breath on the other 2. I thought I had done a good job researching before I bought. I remodeled my kitchen. It turns out that a company that I believed was reputable and worthy of my business are not.
Bought Whirlpool electric range in Dec. 2005..expensive..so the warranty expired a few months ago. The electronic keypad that controls the oven and lights doesnt work. The repairs will be $408 plus tax which is obscene, and are guaranteed only for 90 days. This after only 5 years of minimal use...just me using it.I will never buy whirlpool again.
I recently purchased a Whirlpool Slide in Oven replacing my Amana stove of 15 years. My Amana was a very basic model, and I thought this WP was an upgrade. But it is so poorly made its ridiculous. First of all the bottom storage drawer, is so flimsy, it does not slide out easily, and the top lip doesnt even have a finished edge. Additionally there is a 1 inch gap between the top of the drawer and the bottom of the stove door. But the BIGGEST disappointment was the oven racks, totally flimsy. We used a Lodge Dutch Oven (which we have used many times with our old stove) and the oven rack sagged under the weight. Had I known I would have pulled the racks from my old stove. I contacted that seller about these issues, and they said they are ALL like that even the higher end ones, and I contacted Whirlpool to see if I could buy better quality racks and they said no, this is all they have.
Aqualift is a Joke. We recently remodeled our kitchen and purchased a new Whirlpool range model #WFE710HOAE. It came with a feature called Aqualift Technology to clean the oven. The button you push to start it says Aqualift Self-Cleaning. I followed the simple directions and when it was finished I was surprised to find that nothing was clean. I tried it again with the same results. I had to then clean some of it with the enclosed scrubbing pad. You cannot use any cleaners except one that they also send a small sample of. In short, it was like the old days cleaning my mothers oven with a scrub pad and a lot of elbow grease. I spent 30 minutes getting it somewhat clean. I am so disappointed and mad that Whirlpool can just blatantly mislead consumers this way. No one wants to buy an expensive product such as this and have to clean it by hand. You get as good a result if you do not even use Aqualift. My last range lasted 20 years and all you had to do was take a wet cloth and wipe out the residue. Whirlpool is at best incompetent and at worse criminal and purposely misleading with this and other similar models and should recall or be forced to recall and replace these with a working technology. I am surprised that the Federal Government has not stepped in. I would be very supportive and would participate in a class action lawsuit on this matter. As I stated in the beginning, this product is a joke.
