Whirlpool side by side refrigerator Gold series - I smelled something electrical burning and noticed black smoke billowing out of the back of the refrigerator. I pulled the refrigerator out and unplugged it. I took off the backing and saw a little white box that was on fire. When I unplugged it, the fire went out. I plugged the refrigerator in again and it went up in flames again. This could have been a lot worse. My smoke detector did not go off. It was 12:30 am and was getting ready for bed. If it had been an hour or so, Im afraid this could have ended a lot worse than a fridge full of groceries gone bad. I googled refrigerators catching fire. There are at least five videos with the same problems which lead me to believe there are several more out there. Why hasnt this been recalled?

Purchased a Whirlpool range. Shopped around for several weeks before I found what I thought was a good price and with a rebate! Ive owned the stove for 2 months and 7 days... guess what? The stove broke. The burners popped. I called to have it serviced and remember that it had a rebate. I never received any paperwork on the rebate but figured its Whirlpool, good company. Wrong... its not that I didnt have the rebate paperwork but the rebate has expired... even though I didnt get any paperwork nor was there any mentioned of a time frame. Dont get me wrong if it had been 1 year or even 6 months... really 2 months!!! So not only did I not get the rebate of $100.00 I have a broken stove! So tired of being ripped off!

Whirlpool Cabrio - Clothes come out of the washer wrinkled, twisted and soap stained. I use the exact soap products they recommend in the proper amounts. Bought them in September of 2014. Wish I could return them. Too low of a water level that cannot be adjusted. Not fully rinsing the soap out of the clothes. Washing takes twice as long as with my former 25 year old washer. Dryer is new technology and energy efficient yet wont remove wrinkles from permanent press clothes.Uses hardly any water so clothes must be rinsed at least one or two times to get the soap spots off. Clothes always come out extremely wrinkled. Not all items can be put in the dryer so ironing is back in my life again. Some items come out so twisted and wrinkled that ironing wont even help. Dryer isnt much better at all and shirts and pants always have some wrinkles. Have had to bring some items to the dry cleaners to bring them back to a non wrinkled state. Whatever is saved in water and energy is more than made up by ironing and dry cleaning. The company representatives have sent service people out twice and they both said that the machines are performing as they were intended to. I do smaller washes and wash more often to try to get better results. I dont. Even though it is extra large capacity items such as blankets must be washed more than once as the water does not wet the entire blanket.

Bought washer, it broke down after 1 year. Repair man could not fix for less than $500. Told him he could have it and fix it and sell it. He turned me down. This week went and bought new washer. Told store they could take my washer and he said No. He told me any Whirlpool washer made in the last 2 years break down and cost more to fix than a new one. That I found out to be true. He showed me plastic circuit board not meant to last. They ripped off a very nice senior citizen. Thanks to my son for going and getting me a new washer. Shame on you, Whirlpool.

In 2012 we bought three new Whirlpool kitchen appliance back in 2012. The refrigerator has needed a drain pan replacement, and two air diffuser replacements. Of course, both air diffuser issues occurred just outside the one year warranty. Then the range oven has required two spark modulator replacements – again just outside the one year warranty. Whirlpool’s solution: buy another 1 year warranty to get it fixed; or buy a new Whirlpool appliance at a discounted price.

I bought Whirlpool front load washer at Sears in June 27, 2012... (serial W104408696A) (W10409178A-SP). I had 6 episodes within a 1-year time that my clothes got burn holes and the inside of the washer. I would find a handful of gray powder after doing my laundry. The first time it happened, I thought that I left something inside my clothes that resulted to it, but I did nothing to contribute to the event. The second time it happened, I thought Im putting the wrong setting, so I chose another setting to wash my clothes. In that span of 1 year it was on and off happening. I read different reviews on this washer, and I am not the only one whos had this problem. Finally in 2013, before my warranty would expire, I requested for Whirlpool to fix the problem. Right away the tech told me that the problem was the glass covering, so they replaced it. Now my washer would not drain. I believe that this product does not belong in the market. If they knew what the problem was, they should have recalled it. I kept the sample of that gray powder.

After Hurricane Katrina, six years ago, the gas water heater in my house had to be replaced due to the house getting flooded. For the past six years, the pilot light and/or igniter for the gas water heater has had to be replaced if not once a year, twice a year because it will not stay lit. Each time, Whirlpool would send a new igniter and/or pilot light part and would reimburse me the cost of labor to have the part(s) replaced. Now, after six years and exhausted of fighting with Whirlpool to stand behind their product and make it right, they are finally giving me an authorization to get a new gas water heater. However, now they are telling me they will not cover the cost of labor for replacing the entire water heater. My plumber will have to pull the defective water heater out of my house, take it to Lowes, pick up the new water heater and install it in my home. And Im supposed to accept their not paying for the labor of replacing their faulty water heater? I questioned this and told Whirlpool they paid for labor for the parts to be replaced for the past six years. Whirlpool then said they would pay up to $100. This is not acceptable. I was reimbursed more than $100 for the labor to replace a part that fits in a shoe box. (Multiply $100+ times 6. They paid more than $600 over the past six years.) The cost to replace an entire water heater, picking it up from the store included, will cost more than $200, if not $300! I would not have to pay anything if the Whirlpool product was not defective!I told the manager I was speaking with at Whirlpool I wanted to speak with his boss or someone who had more authority than he did. He refused. I asked him, Was he telling me no I could not speak with someone above him? He finally said he would have someone call me.I believe I should be reimbursed for the entire amount of labor to replace the water heater since the water heater is a defective product and I have to have it replaced not by my choice but out of necessity and safety. If it is defective in one area, who is to say in trying to light the pilot light, one day it will not do something worse than just not light up. What if it decides to explode? Defective is defective and I feel my family is in danger from a defective product and it should be replaced at the cost of Whirlpool not mine.

I purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator less than a year ago and both the door and icemaker have a problem in which PC Richards, the store I purchased it from, has had to service the refrigerator at least 3 times and have not resolved the problem. The door does not close properly and every time I use the icemaker, condensation builds up. Each time a tech person comes to my home, a different reason is given. I need this problem resolved. I dont need to monitor the refrigerator like a sick patient.

Whirlpool Duet Sport W & D purchased from Costco in mid 2007 for $1600. Costco gives an additional one year warranty, totaling three years. Both have worked exceptionally, I must say -- clothes come much much cleaner, keep their color, and last much longer vs. top loaders (Im sure the water softener helps). Two separate techs just confirmed the circuit boards went on the washer ($450 with labor) to replace. Washer looks brand new, but now will be going to the curb.

Whirlpool French Door Plus 3 drawers: This MSRP $3400 refrigerator has great features. Great ice makers. No issues up top. First 18 months were great. 4 repairs in the past 11 months. All freezer temp issues. We had noticed a number of ice sparkles forming on our unopened food. Frozen fruit was mushy. Temp usually read 0 degrees. One day I opened it and the temp was 40. Two hours later, it was close to 0. I started monitoring it closely. High temperatures occurred around noon. Zero degrees most of the time. After the third repair, service tech called Whirlpool and found part was redesigned. New part didn’t help. We understand the freezer has a heater in it, to defrost. The heater stays on too long. That explains why the freezer temp went as high as 50 degrees, while the fridge was perfect.I purchased this at Lowes. I always buy Lowes extended warranties. Thankfully, they bought back my 30 month old refrigerator. Kudos to Lowes warranty company. Never put on long holds. Fast response. I noticed the price for the warranty on refrigerators in this price range has increased by $100. Reflects a lot of repairs on refrigerator models. One thing though. I learned 3 repairs within a 30 day period is considered one repair, for purposes of their lemon policy. I will also add that the warranty company reimburses you 50% of the cost of filters. Simple process. I have read complaints that they make it too difficult to collect. That is just not true. Have been reimbursed $100 for filters to date. In 5 years, Even at the increased price, the savings will pay for the warranty. No brainer.

My Whirlpool Gold, French door refrigerator is 3 years old and just died. The most frustrating part was trying first to go through Whirlpool.com to have them schedule a repair service call. It seems that when I added my zip code and address, their program automatically changed the zip code. So an appointment was scheduled for a repair company that is 4 hours away from me. In calling Whirlpool back (another 30 minutes on hold), they again attempted to insert my address and zip code only to find the program changed it again. I got NO assistance. I finally did find someone (through Thumbtack.com) who found that one of the 3 circuit boards that tell the compressor to cool, was bad. Its going to be 10 days before I will have a refrigerator again and after spending 2K on it, makes me angry. I will never buy Whirlpool again.

I purchased a dishwasher less than 6 months ago from Menards. Since then, I have had to have it repaired twice, due to items getting past the filters and clogging up the drains, so the dishwasher wouldnt drain. I have a 1-year warranty that came with the dishwasher, so both repairs were covered. However, I felt that there should be more done by the company, such as a free extended warranty to cover the cost of repairs as Im sure there will be more; and this is a problem that even the repair man said shouldnt be happening.I called Whirlpool to see what could be done, and all they kept telling me is that I could purchase an extended warranty. I told them (nicely, at first) that I found that ridiculous - why should I pay even more to continue to fix a problem that I shouldnt be having? If they werent going to give me a free extended warranty, I requested at least a partial credit toward another dishwasher, and they could have the piece of junk I have back. They refused to help. I am beyond disappointed with the lack of concern they have for their customers. I will not purchase any more Whirlpool products.

My daughter bought a mobile home manufactured by sunshine mobile home co. in Red Bay al. The home is only 6 mo. old. In that home there is a Whirlpool microwave oven model # WMH2175XVB-1 Serial # TRY 20 23398. After 2 months my daughter microwave stopped working, Whirlpool sent a repair man out to fix it. He didnt have the parts to repair it so he left to order some parts that he thought might be the problem. When the repairman returned two weeks later with the parts, he replaced a door switch. The oven started to work. About 4 days later it quit working again. The repairman returned for the third time, tried repairing the oven and was unable. I had to help him remove the oven so he could take it home with him so he could try to repair it. At that time I was so angry that the Whirlpool co. would send a repair man out three times to repair something that was obviously junk. When I talked to the people at Whirlpool they told me all they were authorized to do was repair it. I explained the repairman has tried three times and couldnt and that they in good faith replace the unit. The answer I received had to come from a mentally challenged person. If this is the response of Whirlpool about their product, then I want no part of them in the future.

I purchased all new Whirlpool appliances for my kitchen from Lowes about 5 years ago. The dishwasher was leaking water onto my hardwood floors after about a year. I figured out that the seal was pulling away on the lower left corner. I fixed that myself. It cleaned pretty well for about 3 years. Now its not cleaning at all. I took the lower spray arm off to try to clean it. Almost all of the holes are clogged with debris. (I clean the filter at least once a week.) I went ahead and ordered a new sprayer arm, maybe that will help.As for the rest of the appliances... After about 6 months, the freezer started filling up with water that then froze on the bottom and allowed water to pour onto the floor. The microwave handled broke after about a month. (They did send me a replacement handle.) The knobs on the stove are starting to peel. One of the knobs wont stay on, so I keep it in the drawer next to the stove. Overall, I am very disappointed in all of the appliances. This will be the last time I buy Whirlpool.

I have had 6 months of absolute HELL working with Whirlpool. I mistakenly purchased a Whirlpool Refrigerator from Home Depot and the moment I did Home Depot were hands off. Sadly my brand new refrigerator didnt work from the moment it arrived. The ice machine was dripping inside from the back making all the ice freeze together and created an ice sheet below the ice box that can be taken out. There also was water dripping out of the ice output. The water output wasnt working and the water was literally trickling out when you pushed for water.SO Whirlpool took 6 weeks to send their 1st technician from L.A.R Services out of Boston and the guy turned up and said it was due to needing a new ice tray/machine and our sink having an old filter. There was NO filter on the sink! And he then ordered an ice machine that arrived at their office in 4 weeks but they took 3 weeks to try to deliver it. When they finally came out they called to say they had to turn around because the road was blocked- there are 3 ways to get to our home....so I had to chase for 2 more weeks to get them to come back out. When they arrived they handed me the ice tray outside and drove off!!!SO WE TRIED AGAIN and this time had Home Depot call Whirlpool to get a service person in to fix it. We had to wait another 5 weeks and when he finally came he claimed our issue was due to the fridge not being perfectly level. Well, guess what, its now level and the ice is still freezing into giant blocks, some weird plastic strap is hanging inside the ice box and the water is still trickling out.Ive called the service guy 3 times and he is yet to call back and right now Im on hold with Whirlpool (its been 14 mins so far). NEVER AGAIN will I buy anything WHIRLPOOL and I will be sharing this experience in every consumer space possible so no one has to go through what we have. Our new fridge is still broken after 6 months!! All I want is my GE fridge again and I should have a followed the reviews.

I am very unhappy with this Whirlpool refrigerator model# GX5FHDXVQ 04. I bought this model in October 2011. You have to push the left door to close it and if you dont then the fridge will stay open. I had a Whirlpool tech come to fix this door problem so this is what he told me: 1) You have to push the door in order to close it properly; 2) Before closing the left door, I should first open the right door (losing energy); 3) The gasket will break very fast; 4) Buy a three-year protection plan because you will have to use it; 5) The freezer is very uncomfortable. In the bottom drawer, you have to fit your stuff. If you put your freezer stuff in a drop higher, then you cant close the drawer, so I am losing space; 6) Sometimes when I fill up the fridge, I move the temperature to #5. After a day, the top shelf back stuff will freeze and the front stuff will stay on fridge temperature. Yesterday, 4-18-2012, for the second time, the freezer gets a sheet of ice. Repairman will repair it but who knows. This fridge looks to me like a lemon. The height is 70 but listed as. I rate this fridge with a CCC.

On 12-22-13 we purchased a new Whirlpool Washer- Model=Top Loading-WTW4800BQ. We also purchased Lowes extended warranty. Washer was delivered on 12-24-13 around 1:00pm. Connected washer. Washer filled with water. System started but would not wash. 10 minutes later it rinsed and drained but would not go thru wash cycle. We clicked the cancel button for 3-seconds to restart. Same problem. Called Lowes - Lady name Kelly continued to tell us we did something wrong. She would not listen and continued to say its Christmas EVE. Finally the workers came out to check it out around 4:00. Confirmed washer is defective and new washer will be delivered on 12-26-13. I purchased a Whirlpool 50 gallon gas hot water heater 3 years ago. I have 3 daughters all in school age. When my old one finally quit due to tank failure and out of warranty, I went to Lowes and bought a 6 year warranty hot water heater costing around $600. Now I figured you get what you pay for RIGHT! WRONG! So about 2 years ago the pilot light started to just go out on occasion, a bit of an inconvenience but there was no default code warning me of any other issues. So typically we just relight it. I called Whirlpool to get help with this issue, but they wanted me to pay for a technician to diagnose the problem. Um isnt that what the warranty is for? I said dont bother. Im not paying $150 for someone to tell me what I already know. Ill just keep relighting it myself. So finally the pilot light goes out for the 100th time but this time I go to reignite it and BOOM! It sounded like a twelve gauge shot gun going off in my face! Then it flutters flames into the chimney of the hot water heater. Scared the crap out of me at first. But it finally stopped and run fine. Well Im laying in bed a few nights later and woke up to a loud thumping noise, I go down stairs and it stops. The following day Im in the kitchen and THUMP THUMP THUMP BURP BURP BURP. Run over to the hot water heater closet and theres the flames shooting out of the gas valve into the hot water heater then BOOM! Its out! The valve unit finally took a crap I guess. I call Whirlpool again to get my warranty - this time it definitely needs to be replaced. So the guy tells me the parts are covered in the warranty but a technician needs to look at it first and the technician Ill have to pay.. Excuse me but what the ** did you just say? I have to pay for a technician to look at your failing part? No I dont think so! Just send me the part - Ill replace it myself. Im a millwright electrician by trade. I specialize in power plants and refineries. Im sure this little gas valve wont be a problem. I spoke with these idiots on a Friday and he said I could have it ground shipped for free and it should be here in 5-6 days or pay extra for quicker delivery. What the hell did he just say? I could pay extra for quicker delivery on Whirlpools faulty part? ** whirlpool should be saying Well have the part overnight to you.Now since it was a 3 day weekend theres no sense in me paying $40 to have it delivered 3 day because it still wouldnt arrive until close to the five day. So I just looked to see where my damn part is because it shouldve been here by now according to the guy on the phone. NOPE! Its set to be delivered in 5 more ** days. DONT BUY A WHIRLPOOL PRODUCT. THEY DO NOT PRACTICE ETHICS.

I love the way the clothes are clean when I wash them. I also love how well they are rung out when I get them out of the washer to be put into the dryer. The washing time isn’t too long either as compared to other washers I’ve used where it took almost an hour to wash and the clothes didn’t seem as clean.

While the washer is great, the reliability of the dryer is lacking. The timer has broken 3 times on ours in 3 years. Each time the cost of the switch is $75.00. Too much plastic on the shaft. If the plastic was removed, and the shaft was metal, it would be a definite improvement.

My microwave is a Whirlpool WMC10511AW purchased in Jan 2014 for $150. It is very light weight and moves around when opening and closing the door. I have to use something behind it on the counter top to keep from moving backward and causing problems getting things in and out. In the first year we had problems with the door latch, but after a while it stopped being a problem. I am used to the stability of Amana Radarange so these very lightweight microwaves seem really cheap to me. It works fine at this point but it seems that these really inexpensive countertop microwaves have to be replaced about every 2-3 years where an Amana which costs a lot more lasts for around 20 years and are very stable not moving around all the time.

The problem started with an error code F3F1 on dryer. Called A & E Factory Service who is company that are certified Whirlpool technicians. They have been out 7 times, March 26, April 1, April 8, April 13, April 27, May 5 and May 12. During those times they ordered and replaced the main control board 3 times and a thermistor for which we paid for parts and labor. The company now says they think we have a lemon and we are supposed to hear back within 48 hours whether we are going to be refunded a total of $504.48 we have advanced for repairs less the service call. They referred us back to Whirlpool and said they would no longer come out as the dryer cannot be repaired! Talked to Whirlpool customer service that says we didnt have an extended warranty and there is nothing they can or will do. This dryer was purchased on 12/31/11. They took the position that because there is no recall for defective parts for this model, there is nothing they will do. Attached is our purchase receipt and all service invoices regarding this matter.

In 2013 my oven died. Upon doing some research my husband and I went to our local appliance stores in search of a new one for a good deal. We chose a Whirlpool electric range with convection oven. We have had it 2 1/2 yrs and have used it often... until today we had been very happy with it. While baking some French fries we heard a loud pop, almost like a shot, running to the kitchen to find the inside tempered glass shattered! Wow! Shocked to say the least we couldnt believe it. Called our Lowes store, to no avail our warranty had expired. They gave us Whirlpools number with no success. I am extremely disappointed and will probably never buy Whirlpool again!

We bought a Cabrio washing machine two years ago. I have had to have a repairman out twice for it shooting water out of the top (from a top-loading machine). They repaired that and its better. But this goes off balance ALL the time. I cant even wash a load of towels without it going off balance. We bought this one as it was supposed to handle large blankets and even my lightweight king size comforters. Yeah. Did once or twice, then started the off-balance stuff. It grows MOLD in the bleach, softener, and detergent dispensers.I wrote to the company and included pictures. They were really rude about it. I finally found how to remove the dispensers to clean them, but it is very difficult. I HATE this machine and will never buy a Whirlpool again. (Our refrigerator, which was in our house when we bought it, is also a Whirlpool. It is poorly designed and collect dust in the coils UNDER the thing and you cannot reach them to clean it. Coils are behind other pieces that block being able to clean them.) Whirlpool is a horrible company and doesnt stand behind their products, in my experience.

My Whirlpool French Door refrigerator will have its TWO year old birthday on September 15, 2015.. only if it lives that long! On August 8, one month and one week short of its 2nd birthday the compressor died. Of course the manufacturers warranty expired after one year. Thankfully, I purchased an extended warranty through the retailer. While this will cover my repairs, there is nothing that will cover the hundreds of dollars worth of spoiled frozen and refrigerated products which had to be discarded. I will NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER WHIRLPOOL PRODUCT!

I recently had the bake sensor go bad on my Control Panel of our Whirlpool Gold AccuBake Oven with microwave. Not a problem correct? WRONG! While the Whirlpool people were very professional in helping me (a shout out to them), the part I received was the wrong color. It was white; they called it a biscuit color. My oven is black. I have no idea what Whirlpool actually calls that color. Anyway, in my visit with them, I was informed the black control panel has been discontinued. Am I the only person that has a black control panel? This $280.00 part is now going to cost approximately $3,000.00 to replace the entire unit. Is there anyone that can direct me to where I can find a black replacement control panel? Way to take care of your customers Whirlpool. Solve this and I will give you a great shout out.

Had another technician come in Oct 3 and was told he had to order a new freezer drawer which should take 3 days. Now being told the drawer won’t arrive until Nov 15. You call that service? It would have taken less time to get a new refrigerator. I would never recommend buying Whirlpool products to anyone. What’s the point in buying a product that you can’t get proper service on.

We purchased our Whirlpool Duet model WFW9150WW01 13 months ago. The warranty was up at the one year mark. We chose not to purchase the extended service plan. After all, a washer should last at least five years right? Wrong! The front seal has gone bad. It is an $85 part plus shipping, plus hours of my time. So, I purchased a product that is supposed to conserve water and instead I am having to purchase a petroleum-based product (the rubber seal), as it would seem, every year or so! These companies have us snowed with the whole conservation bull! CFLs, High Effeciency, Bio Fuels, etc., its all a hoax! And it is a hoax at our expense. Does anyone just produce a good product anymore? Oh yeah, I forgot... Japan does! Our economy continues to go to hell while other countries are coming online. Water filtration unit was leaking only when someone got water. It pooled into the bottom of fridge and ran out under the fridge and because of the slope of the floor was running back towards the wall. We didnt notice until our laminate wood flooring was starting to swell up. It was probably leaking since the day we bought fridge brand new, but took us 4 months to notice. Whirlpool said they will not fix our flooring, only the fridge. We had to make a homeowners claim which we did. When the contractor moved the fridge back after replacing all flooring it starting leaking from the ice maker unit. Only when the ice tray filled it would gush out water. Our flooring is now ruined a 2nd time and Whirlpool will not fix the floor. Repairman said that Whirlpool used rigid parts in the water and ice maker units and tons of people are having the same problem. Since there is no flexibility in these parts they break when the fridge is moved. Whirlpool sucks and I am fighting with them and Lowes to get this fridge replaced with a non Whirlpool appliance. I will never buy Whirlpool again.

I purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator from Gerhard’s Appliance, Glenside, PA on 12/15/2011.There have been problems with the unit since it was delivered on 12/19/2011. The doors were not the same height. There were stains (which looked like rust) on both doors. A shelf on the door and one in the fridge were missing. One of the deliverymen adjusted the door height then, and the door has been creaking on opening/closing since. That door has been replaced, but the problem continues. The freezer (which has an icemaker/water dispenser built in) started to produce ice on the inside of the unit door and on the wall surfaces. Attempts made to rectify the problem were unsuccessful. A new freezer door was ordered. After the door replacement, the frost problem got worse. I can fax you a copy of all service contacts so far (at least 7). Please help me replace this lemon.

I was under the impression Whirlpool washers were good. Mine always goes off balance and quits. I carefully redistribute the load several times to get it to finish (start over). Sometimes it works fine from the get-go, but not often enough. It is now 2 years old and if I were wealthy, Id shove it to the curb. There is little to like with an appliance that often must be adjusted and re-started. I will try Samsung next. It seems that American brands are not reliable. I have no special needs and will consider reliability above all. The name Whirlpool would be a deal breaker for me. I cannot abide my Whirlpool washing machine as it is more of an aggravation than something useful. Stay away from Whirlpool washing machines. They (at least mine) require the load to be balanced to a microgram. Appliances should just work and not require fiddling with.

We purchased our washing machine on October 12, 2011 from Lowes. Our washing machine broke on 04/19/12. We have been dealing with Whirlpool and Advanced since 04/23/12, trying to have our machine repaired. Whirlpool sent A&E out on 05/09/12. A&E came to our house on 05/09/12, and again today, 05/11/12.Finally the repair person from A&E said he needed to order parts which are supposed to be shipped to our house. At this point in time we have very little faith that Whirlpool or A&E will do the right thing and repair our machine. We do not understand how a company like Whirlpool keeps getting away with horrible customer service. Whirlpool is the only company we have found where you cannot get in touch with someone who can resolve your problem. The worst washing machine ever. First off you cannot turn the water on to let it fill and add clothes as its filling. Secondly the Normal setting will not allow you to spin on low, your choice is high or no spin. High tangles your pants, slacks, shirts, etc. No spin leaves them soaking wet. Also its a water safer but never, never, never covers the clothes in water, and sometimes they dont come out smelling so clean. I dont save water if I have to rewash two or three times. Absolutely hate this washing machine. When I get enough money I am going back to the old agitator model and not any Whirlpool either. Near 3 years ago we purchased this side by side going by how good Whirlpool products are supposed to be. Recently the bottom freezer started frosting up and not clearing. Tried all suggestions in the manual. Could not find any information online. The manual was useless. I went online to Whirlpool support 3 different times asking for help. Never got a reply. The racket it made was driving us crazy. It short cycled since it was frosting up. Set up an appointment online. They got that correct and responded quickly. Go figure. The tech came was very nice & professional. No warranty. Find out they only provide a one year warranty. That is absolutely nuts. A refrigerator should last 15 years with no major problems. Should not have needed a $500.00 extended warranty for a $1,300.00 refrigerator. Turned out 2 components needed replacing. Cost just over $400.00. Now were worried it is going to fail again in who knows how long. Whirlpool used to be a respected brand. Never again will we buy a Whirlpool product. 1 year warranty show you they know how cheap they are building their products.

We have a Whirlpool Cabrio mod. WTW5600 XW2, ser. C12830447 he... H2O.. low wash system. Less than two years old. It does not get clothes or towels clean. I put 2 jackets in on bulky items and part of one of the jackets was still dry. They were two small childrens jackets. My husband and I wash as long as possible and on hot wash (which is not hot!). Should not take 70+ minutes to try & get normal clothes clean! Now the softener is draining into the wash with the detergent. Another service call. Learned you can only fill the softened bin half full or less. WHAT??? Our extended warranty is up soon and not sure what to do. We would like to get rid of this pile of junk but cant afford another washer bill. Also wouldnt want anyone else to get stuck with it. Its a shame a company cant put out #1 good product and #2 stand behind it. Bring all of the company production back to the USA or put out a better product and stop worshiping the almighty dollar. Im done with Whirlpool (which was the product to buy), but stuck with this washer for now until we are sure that the brand we buy performs as it should. What happened to the PRIDE in & RESPONSIBILITY of making a good product and standing by what youve made. As my hubby has said, if you have to buy an extended warranty, whats wrong with your product! I purchased a Whirlpool electric range 18 months ago. Recently, the oven started overheating. The display reads Fault detected. Press start to clear. Pressing start did nothing and the oven door was locked as though it was in the self-clean cycle. We had to trip the circuit breaker to turn the oven off and allow the door to open. The food inside was ruined. After three episodes in one week, I scheduled a service call through the Whirlpool website. When the repairman came, he determined the electronic circuit board was faulty. His suggestion was that I buy a new stove since the repair would cost $425 (the part itself was $280). Not wanting to replace a stove that wasnt 2 years old, I went ahead with the repair. I called Whirlpool to lodge a complaint and although the customer service rep was polite, he basically told me that all electronic appliances fail sooner or later and the company will not stand behind this appliance because its out of its 12-month warranty and I didnt buy the extended warranty. He also told me the company doesnt have any record of this being a common problem or excessive complaints about these ranges. But I see many people on this site with the same problem. I wish I had read this site before I bought this stove. Since I cant afford to replace my appliances every year and a half, this will certainly be my last Whirlpool.

We did not purchase the extended warranty believing we shouldnt have had to as we were believing a good name brand. After having a repair person in twice we were told we needed a new computer board and switch. Total cost for repair $350.00 plus previous charges, so far adding up to over $450.00. We called Whirlpool customer service, was a waste of time as they simply told me they could send out their own repair person to obtain the same diagnosis I already had. They told me I should have purchased the warranty. I told them I shouldnt have needed to. Whirlpool customer service refused to do anything for me as it was too long past the 1 year limited warranty. Doing my own research I found this to be a problem with a great many Whirlpool fridge owners and I mentioned this to their customer service and mentioned there should be a recall. I will no longer purchased another Whirlpool product as the company does not stand behind their product.

Everyone has been impressed with how quiet my Whirlpool Gold Series dishwasher was and how clean the dishes came out, but that didnt last but 3 short years. In the life of a dishwasher, 3 years should be less than a third of the life expediency. I purchased a 3 year protection plan from Sears only to find out that it included the year you get the new appliance, so it just added 2 years. Just my luck. I have bragged and bragged and bragged on this dishwasher because it was quiet and cleaned so well, but now I know that was premature because it should have last much longer. I sure didnt get my moneys worth.

I purchased my Whirlpool washer and dryer Cabrio Platinum model in September of 2014 from Lowes and have never been so disappointed in a washer in my life. Not only was it the most expensive washer and dryer set I have ever purchased but it is the absolute worst in performance. It has destroyed most of my clothes and linens, doesnt get them as clean as my former Samsung front-loader, and is constantly twisting up the clothes, getting out of balance and requiring me to adjust the clothes once or twice during each wash cycle. On recent research, I have found that I am not the only one experiencing these problems. Whirlpool should RECALL this series entirely! And I intend to post this review every place I can to prevent future sales of this horrible product.

My dishwasher quit drying and washing in hot water at Thanksgiving 2021. I could not get someone to look at it because the repair company (for Whirlpool) could not get to it until January 2022. The repair tech said it was it could be three different things. He was going to order all three parts. Three weeks later, they came to repair it. It still didn’t work and I hate to wait two different days (all day) for service. First day, he didn’t make it so had to schedule for next week. He replaced the other two parts. It now works by still doesn’t dry like it should. Not thrilled with performance at all!

If you are on this website, keep reading. You will definitely find many people that have your same problem. We purchased our refrigerator 5 years ago. Since then we have had a leak inside of it which is gradually forming mold that I have to cleanup. The ice maker and water dispenser do not function for months at a time. I just purchased 2 drawers for the same reason as the review on May 5, 2016. The tabs break off of the front panels and the panel falls off of the drawers. Theres no way to pull them out. We paid over $200.00 for two drawers!I spoke with customer service at Whirlpool and read them the 2016 review. Their answer was that you should not believe everything you read. My answer was, How cant I? Its happening to the refrigerator I own. They just kept giving robotic answers. The conversation was that of someone that is in denial of having a problem. They dont care. Instead of at least offering a discount on the drawers, she offered me an over $400.00 one year warranty. Pathetic! Whirlpool has just lost another customer.

I have received two bad Whirlpool Water Heaters from Lowes. In the course of a few years, I have received two defective heaters (new). One was even a replacement for one several years old that had failed. Lowes insists that you call an 800 number where someone that speaks poor English tells you that you have done something wrong. I am returning the water heater to Lowes, and purchase a water heater elsewhere. This is a perfect example of how sometimes something that is initially cheaper is not the better value.

We bought all Whirlpool Gold Appliances when we re-did our kitchen 5 years
We bought all Whirlpool Gold Appliances when we re-did our kitchen 5 years ago -- fridge, d. washer, oven, glass top stove, and microwave. Recently I noticed a pool of water in front of the fridge. Turns out there is a sticky grommet problem that prevents moisture from draining into a pan on the inside back bottom of the fridge. Whirlpool will send you a replacement part that is totally different than the original poor design (a long hose affair) BUT wont pay for the labor to put it in unless the unit is less than 2 years old.I watched a video showing how to do it, but it looks pretty tricky and involved plus risky because you can break the drain pan in the process. Spoke with a Whirlpool rep and a supervisor -- both admitted to a quality problem but got nowhere on the labor. Theyre sending the part, and the supervisors supervisor is supposed to give me a call, so well see if they eventually do the right thing and cover the labor. I mean cmon... the parts obvious a bad design, or they wouldnt be sending a totally redesigned part! Covering the labor only if its two years old or less? Even the Whirlpool techs online are saying the problem happens after about 4 years! The grommet gets sticky and wont drain due to heat from the compressor, and that takes time to happen. Ill update this when I hear back from Whirlpool.

The Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine it’s the best washing machine I’ve owned. Water temperatures are right on, has an express wash 38 mins for lightly soiled clothes, plus the normal, delicate, heavy, bulky, 2nd rinse, if you need it. My wife loves it because it’s very Gentle on her personal items. Energy saver AND BEST OF ALL, IT REALLY CLEANS THE CLOTHES.

Bought water heater from Lowes in 2016. 4 days ago I came home to find water all over garage and a burnt smell coming from the water heater. Whirlpools warranty department is absolutely horrible. I spent 3 days sending pictures of the water heater, circuit breakers and water on garage floor with cc sent to my husbands email account and mine. Each day I would telephone the warranty department and told that they never received pictures and they couldnt do anything until they received the pictures. I asked for a supervisor who wouldnt even come to the phone. Both my husband and myself received the pics and email just fine. A representative said they have firewalls and things attached so that they cant receive attachments and downloads. So I sent directly from my phone and they still claimed they never received. They refused to give me contact phone numbers for supervisors. Out of frustration I called the Lowes store where I purchased and a store representative spent 4 hours making phone calls trying to help. She was completely frustrated as well. I was told even though there is a 6 year warranty, I am to pay parts and labor and that the repair company for my area that Whirlpool utilizes doesnt even deal with Whirlpool parts so that whatever is needed would have to be ordered! Im on day 4 of no hot water, this is absolutely ridiculous. I will NEVER buy another Whirlpool product! This product was installed by Lowes and inspected by the state, not a DIY!

My Whirlpool side-by-side refrigerator is just 4 years old. When they delivered it, they noticed damage on the bottom which required them to bring me a new refrigerator. The new one had issues with the ice maker that required multiple service calls to fix. The refrigerator door always seemed a bit misaligned as it was a bit lower than the freezer door, but it closed, so I never complained. I was just tired of all the issues! During the last six months, the door started to remain ajar instead of closing completely so that we had to always be sure to apply sufficient pressure to close it tightly. I considered calling in a repair, but it was still closing so I thought I might be overly critical. As it got worse, I realized the door was defective, but one day, it just fell off completely without warning as though the hinges were made of butter! After multiple service calls, a tech reattached the door, but I could see that it would not hold and sure enough, it is starting to remain ajar again. I have contacted the warranty company who is now saying the service tech claimed we were hanging on the door. This repair company the warranty company uses has an F rating with the BBB. Now, Im being told it may take a couple weeks to get another repair company to give them an opinion, but the issue is clear, the door was defective and it looks like they found a way to avoid having to make good on the warranty!

We have also had many problems with 3 year old convection oven. After about 2 months the broiler would just come on in the bake mode. I called Whirlpool about this problem and they were a bit ignorant on the matter. They said they could arrange a service call, but if they did not find the same problem mentioned that I could be charged a service call, even though it is under warranty. I denied at the time and the problem did not happen again for about another 1-1/2 years or so. In the last few months it has happened a number of times and the one time my wife leaves the room, the potpie burns up. She also lost a pan of brownies. Now we make sure that someone is in the kitchen when the oven is in use. Today the broiler comes on while pre-heating and for the 1st time we receive a message TURN OFF POWER TO RESET in which I did thru the breaker. It took forever to cool down, then she is going to try again. I also am going to contact Whirlpool and see what they have to say. Last I checked there was no recall for this model (#GFE461LVS), but there should be after reading all of the complaints or they are bound to have a lawsuit on their hands or maybe even a class action lawsuit.

We purchased this dishwasher in June 2014 while putting home back together
We purchased this dishwasher in June 2014 while putting home back together following fading of our home. Within 6 months of purchase the dishwasher was doing dry washes, and getting very hot touch. Whirlpool sent out repairman who replaced parts that had melted inside dishwasher and the control panel. This same thing happened 2 more times. A repairman came and repaired and replaced parts. In May 2016 it once again was running so hot that it burned hand when opened. Once again repaired but this time it started leaking from front dishwasher. When we talked to whirlpool they sent out repairman and assured us they would pay for any and all damage it had caused. They also replaced dishwasher with Maytag of our choice which they covered all cost. When installers pulled out the unit we learned the dishwasher had most likely been leaking the entire time, water damage up entire wall, cabinets ruined, countertops had been bubbling and separating from wall, floors ruined. We followed all instructions and had three contractors come to do estimates that were from 27,500-30,680. Whirlpool then sent outside adjuster because of cost. We have now received offer of 6700 and told we could take this or submit to our insurance company. Also we now have Mold in kitchen which they are aware of and we think the flooring is now rotting and breaking.

I have had to replace my Whirlpool 50-gallon hot water heater 2 times. First time it broke, it caused thousands of dollars’ worth of damages plus Im out a $760.00 deductible. I had the last one just over 1 month and couldnt exchange it at Lowe’s because it’s a few days over a month. So I had to get return authorization before I could return it again. Whirlpool Duet 3.9 cu ft High-Efficiency WFW9451XW00 - Hear my first experience with Whirlpool. I purchased a washer machine 30 April 2014. Guess what - machine stop working suddenly on July 30th, just about three months later. I had a lot of guest from overseas. While they visit me, I did not have my washer machine. How embarrassing. It was big mistake to buy Whirlpool. It is all made plastic inside and they uses cheap Chinese material. Anyway, technician came house to check what the problem was... all control system was burned. He ordered almost 10 parts from Whirlpool on 04 August. Whirlpool scheduled delivery for 20 of August. I called them for them to send the parts faster so my guests could wash their clothes. They send them little faster for August 16. After a day, technician was in the house again. I waited about 3 hours for him to fix my machine. He was really nice guy. He put install all new parts. Just in front of me, new parts broke after 5 minute. Whirlpool still did not contact me about their decision. Today is August 26th... I called them 5 time already - Nobody give me useful info. NO Whirlpool, guys - bad service.

I have read the reviews and agree with all negative comments. There is no point in investing in a high efficiency machine when I have to rewash many dark items several times in spite of always adding the extra rinse cycle. The clothes appear cleaner if I do not add liquid fabric softener, but as I prefer to use my clothes line when possible, I am unable to use fabric softener. Also, although it is supposed to be a high capacity machine, I only fill the tub about one third of its capacity, hoping this will increase the cleanliness of your clothes. It doesnt seem to help.I have contacted Whirlpool several times and the final suggestion was that pay for a technicians visit, approx. $100, plus extra for repairs. I have decided not to throw good money after bad and to buy another brand of washer. This is the WORST appliance I have ever owned even though it is supposedly high-end. PLEASE do not buy a Whirlpool appliance. If the Cabrio washing machine is an indication of the quality of their appliances, you will be wasting your money.

Here is my TERRIBLE experience: After only eight months it started to fail intermittently. Within weeks, it failed completely. I pay someone to come out and look. We get a part from Whirlpool. Pay extra to express ship it. 2 days later, pay to have it installed. Still doesnt work. Express ship another part. 2 days later, pay again to have it installed. STILL doesnt work. Express ship ANOTHER part. 3 days later - it STILL DOESNT WORK!!!!! Then they closed - wait another day. Now they authorize a complete replacement. Wait till Monday to PAY to have this one uninstalled. Haul it upstairs, into my car, back to Lowes, so I can get a new one. Haul it home. Pay AGAIN to have it installed.I was without hot water for 10 days and paid about 4 time the cost of the heater in labor to get through this MESS. I talked with Customer Service to get some help with how terribly unfair this was. Warranty Only Covers parts - should have bought the extra warranty... Silly me - I thought Whirlpool was a reputable and reliable brand. Boy was I WRONG!!! DO NOT PAY EXTRA FOR THE NAME - NOT WORTH IT!!!!!! I also dont recommend paying extra for the Energy Efficient. Its added electronics that just give it more to go wrong. Plain and simple is the lesson for the day!!! And after the hours of frustration with their customer service - Ill NEVER buy another Whirlpool product as long as I live!!!

I have hated this Cabrio washer and dryer set since the day they were delivered brand new by Best Buy a couple of years ago. The washer does not clean well, often does not spin dry, and leaves some clothes dry after a full wash cycle!!! I have to wash small loads on the deep water cycle to even have a chance at cleaning the clothes. The clothes are so dreadfully compacted and tangled that it takes great effort to birth them out of the washer, unfurl them, shake them, and put them into the next torture machine- the dryer. It is as if Whirlpool intended to build a machine to twist clothing so tight that it requires a bodybuilder to untangle the clothing. Then the items are so incredibly crumpled that ironing has found its way back into my already busy life. Ironing is a massive challenge to the degree of wrinkles in the clothing. The slanted tops are icing on the cake. Cant even pull the clothes out of the dryer to the top of it because they slide right off. Cool.

Said that technician will come at 11am tomorrow and disconnected the call when we were trying to explain what our query is all about. Is that all the respect a customer deserves!? Is that how whirlpool trains their service people!? He doesnt even have the basic courtesy to listen to the customer, I wonder how was he even recruited as a customer care person.
