2012 1st year water dispenser stuck, would not stop pouring water until I shut water valve off behind refrigerator. Replaced switch under warranty. 1st year bottom mount freezer stopped working, replaced condenser under warranty. Handle coming off freezer door not replaced. Today Nov 5th past warranty date Oct. 21st 2012. There is ice buildup in bottom of freezer due to a duckbill valve that I just found out about... This is junk and I already replaced the washing machine. Now I am going to replace this fridge if I have to have money to fix this out of pocket. Dont buy whirlpool and i think they make the same thing under other brands like Kitchenaid. My fridge was registered with whirlpool and no one contacted me from whirlpool about the problem they were aware of, to tell me that the valve is free and labor was free for first two years. Now only part is free. What a rip off. My appliances were part of the purchase price of a new home from a developer.

I purchased a new Whirlpool (2015) Model: WRF736SDAM13 French Door Refrigerator. Two days later, water was dripping from the light in the top of the refrigerator. I was removing about a cup of water twice a day, which dripped from the light. The company was friendly when I called, and offered a replacement or repair. I elected the repair as I felt that would be acceptable. The repair man inspected the refrigerator and determined the problem to be condensation from the water holding tank, located in the top of the refrigerator. He stated that because the incoming water has the opportunity to reach room temperature prior to entering the fridge, and because of the high temperatures (80’s & 90’s) the water holding tank has condensation that collects in the top of the refrigerator, which drips onto the top of inter refrigerator liner, and eventually drips through the light. He stated there is no fix, as it is not broken. While it is not broken, this is a bad design error, which would affect anyone who lives in an area where the temperatures exceed 80 degrees outside, which could only be fixed with a collection tray that would allow the water not to drip into the refrigerator. Currently there is none available. Because I only had the refrigerator for two days before the problem was reported, Lowes allowed me to make an immediate exchange. However, had this been purchased during cooler temperatures, the issue would not have been noticed until after the 30-day time frame and the exchange would not have been an option. When I made the exchange, I noticed that all the 3 & 4 door refrigerators are made the same and will have the same problem. I ended up exchanging it for a Samsung model. Kudos to Lowes. Whirlpool, you need to find a fix for this problem if you want to sell me another one.

I bought a NEW Whirlpool 40 gallon, natural gas hot water heater from Lowes
I bought a NEW Whirlpool 40 gallon, natural gas hot water heater from Lowes in May 2012. January 04, 2014, the main electronics failed that controlled everything. It has a 9-year warranty (after 1 yr.- parts only). What failed was the Gas Control/thermostat unit, and it takes a HVAC-trained person to replace it. Yes, theyd send the part - free, but required me to pay for installation. Talking with an HVAC business owner, he said hes replaced about 30 of these and he surmised that Whirlpool KNOWS that nationwide, over 10,000 needed replacement yet Whirlpool cares less. Ive had trouble with other Whirlpool products, so when my appliances, etc. go bad, I will NOT replace with Whirlpool products.

August 15, 2011 - We purchased a new Whirlpool Water Heater Model N50T61-40
August 15, 2011 - We purchased a new Whirlpool Water Heater Model N50T61-403 for $398 from Lowes. We used their recommended installer (that was our first mistake!). He made the following installation mistakes: 1. He connected the hot water to the cold water & the cold water to the hot water. 2. He installed DRYER venting instead of HVAC venting. 3. He used flammable tape on the venting instead of screws. 4. He had incompatible metals touching near the gas line which can create an electrical charge & thus, a sparking situation. 5. He left us with a gas leak. 6. He did not install the screen that is supposed to surround the base of the water heater.7. He failed to strap down the expansion tank. These failures were discovered by an HVAC person who was in our basement to give an estimate on a replacement of the furnace & AC coil at the same time this genius was installing our water heater. The installer overheard the comments & literally... he disappeared & we never saw him again! We told all of this to Lowes & they were not phased in the least -- indeed, they didnt even seem surprised! They sent out a few other guys from the same company to correct the errors. So, it finally was installed & passed the county inspection & we had hot water again... for a little while. Within a few months the water heater pilot light would not stay lit. I was having to relight it once a week or so. After much arm twisting, we were finally able to get Whirlpool to send out a new pilot light assembly and pay for the installation. It was installed July 25, 2012. And.... it worked for 8 months. After returning from a trip on April 30, 2013, we went to take showers & the water was cold. The same problem was happening again... The pilot light had gone out while we were out of town & it will not stay lit & I have to relight it every 2-3 days.We talked to an assistant manager at the Lowes store where it was purchased. He talked to Whirlpool & Whirlpool said they would pay for the parts but not the service call which would be $149. I also learned today from the same manager that Whirlpool will not replace the product until they have replaced the same parts three times. Hmmmm.... Lets do some basic math here. $149 x 3 = $447! Thats MORE than the water heater cost! We believe that the water heater has been defective from day one & we also contend that their replacement part for the pilot light assembly is also defective (by design??). A pilot light assembly should last longer than 8 months! We are getting ready to build a new home within the next year. We will get to choose our supplier & the manufacturer of the appliances that will be in our home. Needless to say, Lowes will not be on the list. They keep saying, Our hands are tied. (Not buying it!) And Whirlpool will definitely be off of our list as their customer service is the worst Ive ever seen & their product quality is sub par. The other thing I experienced with Lowes was that when I tried to leave a review on their site for this specific product... twice... both reviews were rejected. The reviews presented the facts as Ive stated here, but because they showed Lowes & Whirlpool in a negative light, they were not posted on lowes.com. So, consumer beware -- their reviews are heavily screened so that the negative reviews rarely get posted. The consumer should be aware that the reviews on Lowes website are heavily screened & therefore do not equally represent consumers who have had a negative experience. This is an integrity issue.

I am following up on a review I submitted on April 22, 2015 about a Whirlpool refrigerator with french doors and bottom refrigerator. At the time, paint was falling off from the door as pictured in the previous review. This another chapter on this story and probably the closing chapter. A few months after the paint event which I could have lived for a while, the right door hinge literally disintegrated leaving the door without support. The door seals material is of such poor quality that they have disintegrated and the water condenses inside. The bottom photo shows hinge components that came off the door hinge on the kitchen floor. The second photo from the bottom up photo shows how the door scraped the plastic of the freezer door top trim if the door is not lifted to clear it. The second photo from top to bottom shows the door over the hinge pin if I am not careful lifting the door to clear the freezer door. The first photo from top to bottom shows how the door remains open if not lifted so that the door magnetic seal keeps it in place. It is very hard for me to believe that a country like the United States of America treats its customers with no respect. I met my obligation to pay the amount on the price tag of this appliance but I cannot say that Whirlpool did its part of providing a basic quality product. There is no consumer protection agency in this country to protect consumers from corporate predators that have no sense of a fair deal with a customer. So here we are, being abused by United Corporations of America. I hope the future brings a different understanding of the american people on these matters. Thank you for the opportunity to express myself on this matter. Next step... buy a foreign made appliance that will support another country work force... sounds familiar.

I wish I had purchased this a week before I decided to become an owner of a portable AC unit. This unit cools my 390sq ft living room with ease, paired with a large 3 speed stand-alone fan, the adjacent rooms feel the coolness as well. I plan on purchasing another uni, with a lower SQ rating as to have for the master bedroom. Easy to install, move and drain when the time calls for it. Not too loud, not too big, not ugly and I would purchase this unit again.

Whirlpool realized in 2002 that this was a defective part. In 2005, they recalled the product. I purchased the Hot Water Heater (Model # BFG1F4034T3NOV) in 2006. Being this product was recalled in 2005, why was it still being sold at Lowes and other stores? Why wasnt it pulled from the shelves? Why werent the parts replaced before being sold? The hot water heater stopped producing hot water. I contacted Whirlpool and they said the gas control valve had to be replaced; they gave me a part # and an authorization # and told me I could pick it up at Lowes. I asked about installation, because it is still under warranty. They said they dont service this. I picked up the part and tried to find a plumber to do the work and they said it was too small a job. I had to impose on friends to help me; one is a volunteer fireman. He came out and put on the new part and in doing so, another piece broke. We called Whirlpool and they said they had to replace the manifold door assembly. They overnighted the part. Again, I asked about them servicing this hot water heater and I told them I am a single parent and cant do this work. They said they dont service this item. I then had a handyman come out to try to fix it and he wasnt able to get it to work and now I smelled gas (it cost me $198). I had to call the gas company and they came and said there was a leak and turned it off and gave me a violation. I called the company I have an HVAC contract with and they added the hot water heater to that contract and it cost me $120 more for a year. They finally got it working, I was without hot water for a week. I do not recommend anyone buy products from this company. They are horrible to do business with and their service is awful (the service they dont offer).

I bought a Whirlpool water heater from Lowes in the fall of 2009. For the first 4 years it worked fine. Since the spring of 2015, it started to stop working. I called the company, and they recommend their contractors to fix it. In less than a year, I had it repaired at least ten times. I spent more to repair it than I bought it. This water heater has a 10-year warranty on it. Per the companys recommendation, I replaced the thermocouple, clean it, have it regularly serviced. The technician told us we need to change the gas valve assembly. When I called, they sent a burner assembly. When I called, they asked me about the exhaust pipe, whether it is go through the roof or go through the side of the house. I took several pictures of the exhaust system and sent to them. I called, one of the people on the company side said my exhaust was wrong, and need to be repaired by a HVAC company. I asked what is wrong? They dont tell me. I sent emails, and called to ask an answer, and got nothing. My impression is that they dont want to deal with the issues and simply want the consumer to get tired and replace the water heater. It really shows the total disregard of the interest of the consumers. This should not be the way people do business in the United States. When a big company has large numbers of lawyers, they can ignore the law. What a corrupt system!

Worst Air conditioner brand I have ever come across. My personal experience
Worst Air conditioner brand I have ever come across. My personal experience with Whirlpool Air Conditioner is not encouraging. I have used almost all brands of AC but found that the quality of Whirlpool AC is not worth recommending. Please stay away from Whirlpool. I got one Whirlpool 1.5 Ton Split Air Conditioner (Model 3D Cool Xtreme, 6th Sense Climate Control) at my house about 2 years back. I booked a service request with the Whirlpool’s Authorized Service Centre M/s Western Refrigeration Co., NOIDA as the Air-conditioner was not cooling to the desired level. On the first visit on 20-05-2019, the service engineer advised that the AC was not cooling because the gas had drained and the gas is required to be filled for which there will be a charges of Rs 2500/-. Believing him, I agreed for refilling of the gas at his quoted price. He sent next day some other attendant team for filling the gas. Those attendants revealed that in addition to the gas, two valves are also required to be replaced at an additional cost of Rs 1600/-. Though I had a doubt about the correctness of their diagnosis, there being no option, we paid for valves also. Accordingly, a total of Rs 4100/- was paid by us.However, to our utter surprise, the AC stopped cooling within a couple of days. Hence, the service centre was again informed. The complaint was again attended second time on 04-06-2019 and we were told that they have again refilled the Gas.However, again the result was NIL. The AC was not giving cooling effect. Hence, third time again complain was booked. The first attendant once again advised for only gas filling after thorough examination. He sent an another guy on 20-06-2019 for gas filling who then revealed that the cooling effect is not there because the condenser coil is leaking and the same will have to be replaced at an additional cost of Rs 5500/-.The following important points emerges out of the above:- 1) If there was a condenser coil leaking problem, why it was not disclosed to us when the AC was attended earlier by various Service Teams consisting of various attendants in the process from the same service centre? 2) Whether my all money paid earlier for gas filling and changing of two new valves will go waste due to wrong diagnosis by your technicians?3) Keeping in view the earlier wrong diagnosis, I very much doubt the present diagnosis and feel that this is a ploy to extract more money from gullible customer who lacks technical knowledge. We spoke to the service centre officials up to three four levels on the numbers received from the call centre but after listening the matter they assure to call us back. After no call back from their side, when we try to call them, they do not lift our calls. The above facts clearly bring out the cheating, harassment and looting by the Service Centre under the aegis of the so called prestigious company M/s Whirlpool. The hard earned reputation and trust of the Whirlpool is being impaired by these unscrupulous service centre. No punitive action appears to have been taken by Whirlpool office against the unscrupulous service centre for unfair trade practices. Rather the person from Whirlpool office over call was also trying to coax us to pay some more money to the unscrupulous service centre who has already cheated us and extracted money earlier from us with zero results. My Air Conditioner is totally shut off due to mishandling and misdiagnosis by the service centre. We are acutely suffering due to scorching heat and over and above going through the mental harassment for the last two months. We expected an immediate resolution for the above problem on top priority basis without any further additional cost however despite my number of reminder through their toll free number, mail id etc. the problem still remains unresolved and unattended. It is highly disappointing that despite my writing repeated mails with reminders no senior person from Whirlpool has so far taken cognizance of the grievance and the customer has been left in the lurch to be harassed by the highly inefficient, incompetent and indecisive service centre officials who have miserably failed to address the issue and satisfy the customer.

I have owned two different Whirpool washers over the last several years, and they have both been a very big disappointment. More than that they have cost me money, time, and peace of mind. The Duet was my first experience with a Whirlpool appliance. It was a front load that I replaced the water pump on twice and constantly had to take the front bottom piece of the washer off to clean the trap on. It had been taken off so much that the machine actually just fell apart. It also had some type of mold or mildew problem where it made the clothes smell. It was a constant headache.I was stupid and allowed a salesperson from HHGregg to talk me into purchasing the Whirlpool Cabrio washer. Another huge mistake. Again, cost me time, money and peace of mind. I have owned the washer for a COUPLE OF MONTHS, and the clothes that I have washed smell so bad that I cannot use the washer anymore. I tried to call customer service, but it is impossible to get any help because the lines were so backed up, I have not had the time to sit and wait for an available person. Not to mention there is an extensive process of pushing lots of buttons before you are put on hold to presumably talk to a human being. I assume this is because so many people are having so many problems with their Whirlpool appliances. It is not surprising. I bought a new washer, a GE. It is awesome! When I have the patience and the time, I will try to call Whirlpool again and see if they are willing to do anything about the washer that at this point is just sitting in my garage taking up space. I spent around $600 on a washer I only got a few months of use out of. When we moved it to the garage, we could hear water swishing around, which explains the horrible smell of the clothes. Once I started having the issue, I went online to see if this was an easy fix, and it turned out that LOTS of other people are having the exact problem, to the point where people are trying to get a class action suit going. Do yourself a favor and avoid the hassle of dealing with this company. If you purchase a Whirlpool washer, I guarantee you will be sorry. Trust me, I was stupid enough to do it twice. Hope this helps someone avoid the headache these appliances have given me.I will never buy Whirlpool again. And by the way, Maytag is made by as well as the following: Admiral (Canada), Chambers, Coovert (acs), Crosley (newer fridges, a/c, washers), Danby (8, Estate, Inglis, Ikea, Kenmore (see Sears), KitchenAid (4), Kirkland, Maytag Epic®, Roper, Speed Queen (Canada only), Sub Zero (undercounter ice makers), Whirlpool.

Our Whirlpool refrigerator, model MODGI5FSAXVYO, began leaking water from the freezer onto the floor about 3 months ago. We purchased the unit in January 2011. We had to keep a towel on the floor to absorb the moisture. Our troubles began after the freezer door was left ajar and the interior became quite frosty. We had turned off the freezer several times to defrost but nothing helped until this morning when I read the comments of Marea of McClellanville, SC and Ruth of Vavenby, BC.I then decided to begin exploring taking apart everything until I reached the freezer unit in the back of the freezer. I discovered a lot of ice with the ice blocking the drain hole which is supposed to drain condensation from the freezer fins to a drain pan in back of the freezer. Apparently, leaving the freezer door ajar caused the drain hole and surrounding area to ice up. Condensation from the fins would keep dripping until it overflowed onto the bottom of the freezer until it filled up with ice. The water then had nowhere to go but out of the freezer onto the floor. The simple solution to this problem is to turn off the fridge, empty out the freezer and allow the frozen drain hole to thaw out. You can easily remove the back panel of the refrigerator to see if water is then draining into the drain pain. Good Luck! Ed

WRF989SDAB00 - Our house burnt down in April 2012. We purchased all Whirlpool products to be put back into our house. We had to purchase these items in November 2012 so the contractor could get them into our house because of the cabinets. We did not move into our house until the last week of December and could not use these items until then. In December of 2013, our freezer went out along with the ice maker. I had to fight for Whirlpool to pay for these repairs. They kept saying that it was over the one year warranty. They did accept responsibility and paid for A&E to come look at the frig. One guy came out the first time and thought he fixed it. No. A month later two guys came out. They said it was the condenser. They ordered the parts and came back a third time to replace it. A month and a half later, same problem. A&E came out a fourth time and thought they fixed it again. Nope. During this period, I purchased a extended service plan. I AM TELLING EVERYONE TO DO THIS NOW BECAUSE IT TAKES 60 DAYS FOR THIS PLAN TO TAKE EFFECT. Now the service plan people sent a different company out and he said it is going to cost a lot of money because the things that need to be replaced. The plan SHOULD cover all of this. I called both the service company and Whirlpool demanding that they send us a replacement frig. I believe sending someone out at least SIX TIMES to fix the same problem is ridiculous. Each company is blaming the other and each is saying its the others responsibility to replace the frig.

In 2006, I paid $1,300 for above fridge and bought extended warranty. Within a year, I had four service calls for condensation in bins that causes freezing of lunchmeat, veggies, etc. and anything put in them. The A&E service company said to use plastic bags and then said I should keep the bin drawers open at an inch so air could flow. Next call said vacuuming underneath would solve it. Final call said again to use bags and suggested modifying the fridge by making a hole in the sidewall (which would nullify the warranty).Since I declined modifying the fridge, he contacted Whirlpool saying I declined service. I still have this problem, was going to call for service because I could really use the space the drawer provides but I have a feeling I will just be throwing money away. I was going to contact Whirlpool but Ive done that too. I feel totally ripped off on an item that should have quite a few years of service left.

My fridge is only 8 months old and stopped working about 5 weeks ago. They have sent repair techs out 5 times, replaced the compressor, condenser, some fan thing and evaporator. It worked for 2 days then the compressor started leaking again. Ive lost 2 refrigerator full of groceries. It damaged my floor. I was unable to have family over for Christmas and Ive been using a mini fridge. The Whirlpool customer service people have been no help and some have been very rude. We purchased our refrigerator new in 2014. After only 4 years and taking meticulous care of our Whirlpool Top Mount Refrigerator, the temperature regulator stopped working - and the condenser fan rang constantly. The refrigerator couldnt get below 50, and the freezer vacillated between 17 and 30 degrees. We live in a somewhat remote area and could not find an appliance repair person to look at it. So we had to purchase a new appliance. Needless to say we did not choose Whirlpool!

We moved to the mountains of Florissant, CO mid November of 2012. The home we bought needed some renovations. In February of 2013 we bought three Whirlpool appliances from Best Buy before we were ready to. Renovated our kitchen, because they were having a great sale. That was our first mistake. The appliances had to be ordered, and it took a while for all of them to finally come in. We had no idea that it snows up here until almost mid June, and Best Buy wouldnt be able to deliver the appliances until June.We had hired a contractor to renovate the kitchen and had given him half of the money. To make a long story short, he took our money, wouldnt come do the job, but wouldnt give us our money back. Finally did part of the work and never came back again. He sent someone else to do the rest of the job, but he was not licensed, did horrible work that needed to be torn out and be completely redone, yet demanded to be paid for what he did. We ended up in a lawsuit and couldnt hire anybody to finish the kitchen until the lawsuit was settled. By the time the kitchen was finished the refrigerator was already out of warranty.Within days of the refrigerator being plugged up ice began to form at the top back part of the refrigerator. I called Best Buy and over the phone they told me what it was. The refrigerator had been poorly designed. A tube that ran up the back and across the top of the refrigerator to the ice maker created a lot of condensation and was causing ice to form. The Geek Squad representative said that Whirlpool had been aware of the design flaw and had created a kit to fix it. It consisted of insulation, a blower, and maybe a different type of tubing. Anyway, Best Buy said that Whirlpool was responsible for this repair and that it was around $400 and a $100 trip charge, so were talking $500 plus. Since the refrigerator was no longer under warranty with Best Buy I was advised to call Whirlpool since the problem originated in the factory and came like that.I called Whirlpool and they lied and told me there was nothing in their computer system about this design flaw. I called Best Buy back, and they said that Whirlpool had sent something to them about it via the computer and that it was definitely in their system. I called Whirlpool back in July of 2014 and tried to escalate it, but only got the runaround. Now they admit that a recall was done, which had to be in their system, but said that there are two different types of recall. One type is a recall for something that could be dangerous to human life. That type of recall they will take financial responsibility for. Then there is what they call an inconvenience recall. They do not take financial responsibility for anything that falls under that category. For inconvenience recalls, they apparently only contact the companies that have sell their products are contacted, so that they are aware of potential problems that may need to be addressed by their maintenance departments. I feel that a decent, honest responsible company should be willing to take responsibility for things they know were wrong with their product before it ever left their factory or warehouse. Now the freezer isnt working. I called and complained because I thought it was connected to the original problem. All Whirlpool offered to do was to sell me an extended warranty for $319. Its with a company called Assurant, but when you call them they answer as Whirlpool Extended Warranty Program. They told me this would cover the original problem, whatever is wrong with it now, and anything that goes wrong in the next year. I was also promised to not have to put out another dime, so I bought it. Assurant was suppose to set the repair up and pay for it.After almost a week of not hearing from them I called. They informed me that they couldnt find anybody who was qualified to come up here and work on it. I asked them why they didnt call Best Buy. They said it wasnt their policy. I was informed that I was to find someone on my own and have the repairman call them with an explanation of what was wrong with it and the repair cost. If they approved it, then I was to pay for all of the repairs in advance, and they would reimburse me. I had a fit, but they told me that I would either do it that way or the extended warranty would be canceled, and they would just reimburse me the $319 I had paid for the extended warranty.I called Best Buy. They sent a repair man out. He found that the coil at the back of the freezer was covered in a block of ice. He took a blow dryer and thawed it up. He said to put something in the freezer that would freeze it to see if it went back to working properly. He gave us his cell phone number and told us to call him the next day to let him know. In the meantime he was going to contact Whirlpool to see what would have caused that. Well, nothing froze. He called us later and said that Whirlpool had informed him that the coil probably had something that was causing a blockage. It was either a piece of trash that had gotten into the coil at the factory or a bend in the coil, which had to have occurred at the factory; because its inside a closed unit. The repairman said that Best Buy never goes into a closed unit to try to repair it, because they are not qualified, but that if they were it would still cost me a fortune to have that done. He said that Best Buy just replaces the refrigerator, but thats only when its under their warranty. The repair man told me the bill to fix the condensation problem was going to be about $550, and that was before the coil problem was ever discussed. I asked him to call Assurant and tell them everything he told us. He did, and was told there were options to escalate it to the next level. He gave me the phone number. I called it and talked to a representative who told me what the notes in their computer system said. Basically it said to give me my $319 back. Then I was given a phone number to Whirlpool, because I demanded to escalate it.I called the number she gave me. The Whirlpool representative asked me why I hadnt called Sears and offered to call them for me but told me I would be responsible for all the repairs, and that they would not be financially responsible for anything in any way. The guy kept putting me on hold and was apparently getting advice from someone higher in authority.I had already been told that no one in Colorado Springs would go into a closed system to repair that refrigerator, because of the labor and costs. I asked this guy if he just didnt believe the Best Buy repairman or what. There is no telling what Sears will charge me to give me a second opinion. Best Buy has offered to reimburse me for their diagnostic trip up here. If Sears finds the same thing, Im sure they wont reimburse me their trip charge because it didnt come from there. This refrigerator was regularly $2,600. I got it on sale for $2,000 plus sales tax. I cant sell it like it is, I cant get it fixed, and its too big to use as an anchor. In other words, its cost me $2,000 to use this refrigerator for two years, and I have nothing to show for it. You may be saying that I should have bought an extended warranty from Best Buy when I bought it, but that wouldve only taken care of the condensation problem. We wouldve ended up with an unfixable freezer problem anyway. That wouldnt have changed a thing. That extra year warranty would have expired by now.Whirlpool products are inferior, and Whirlpool doesnt take responsibility for their mistakes. They are no better than some of the car companies that have been on the news lately. Take my advice, dont buy Whirlpool products and dont ever be stupid enough to buy their extended warranty. I will never buy another Whirlpool product as long as I live, and if you have any sense, you wont either.

We bought a Whirlpool refrigerator in January at Home Depot. In July we started noticing that the freezer doesnt work. The ice maker doesnt work, everything melt away. Frozen items were lost. We constantly have to dry the floor since it is leaking water. We called whirlpool on July 27 and they send someone to check it out the following day. He reported that we need a new freezer door. I call for a follow up, I was told that it will take 6-8 weeks before we get a new door and part for the ice maker. We recently called to follow up on the status of the door just to find out that the order didnt get process until mid August. In the meanwhile, the fridge is having condensation. Water is everywhere inside. Fruits are being rotten because of too much moisture. We called again and they send out the same technician. The technician reported that the fridge will not work properly until freezer is fix. We call whirlpool again just for them to tell us to wait for the part, and gave us an extra 6 month warranty.

Purchased my first Whirlpool refrigerator, model WRF989SDAM00, in 2012. Six service calls later, Whirlpool replaced it with the same exact model. I am now on my 4th service call with the 2nd refrigerator because of dripping ice maker, fan going out in freezer, condensation continually dripping on everything in the refrigerator. Finally, last week, I had enough & wrote certified letters to Whirlpools corporate offices, the service company they sent out to fix it, which was a nightmare by the way and the Better Business Bureau. I am still without a working refrigerator after two months!!!This is two lemons that Whirlpool has sold me in less than two years and the service has been horribly unacceptable!!! I am at my wits end. Today I wrote to the Attorney General. Whatever you do, DO NOT buy this model refrigerator!! It has been a nightmare!! !

Bought a Whirlpool french door fridge in July of 2019, The icemaker began pouring water out of it and the temperature of the fridge would not go below 50 degrees. Contacted Whirlpool and the technician says it will be over $800 in parts plus service to repair. Now I must go 24 days without a fridge in the middle of summer until they can get the parts. How does a 10 month old fridge need all of the parts replaced except the condenser in that short of time? Whirlpool should be held accountable for manufacturing the defective fridge and leaving their customers stranded.

We bought a Whirlpool refrigerator, model ED5LVAXWSOO. Although we didnt need or want the ice/cold water dispenser, we bought the model anyway. We have never hooked up nor used the ice maker/water dispenser. As the refrigerator was powering up upon its initial start-up after delivery, we found that condensation was leaking from the ice maker on the door. Upon closer inspection, we found that the hatch cover was not sealed and actually jiggled around when the door was opened or closed. A service man came, had difficulty with the issue, but eventually said he fixed it. It didnt leak again for almost three years. Then the exact same problem. (Remember, the component is still neither hooked up nor used.) Apparently, the opening and closing of the doors eventually caused the same defect to reappear. Of course, since the warranty has expired, Whirlpool sees no obligation on their part. But the value of a product is not based on a limited-time warranty, but on how the product holds up. This has to be a manufacturing or design defect as it came from the factory broken, and eventually the same problem re-appeared even though there was no wear and tear on the component, as it is not used. These products are much too expensive to begin failing after a few years. I would caution buyers based on the product being delivered broken (wheres their quality control?), its lack of durability even when not being used, and the Companys disavowal of any responsibility beyond the limited warranty period, even though it is a recurrence of the original problem (which to me means that it wasnt properly repaired/corrected during the service visit). Whirlpool eagerly grabbed our hard-earned money, but delivered an inferior product made worse, in turn, by its sub-standard service and lack of accountability.

We bought a small refrigerator/freezer Model WRT112CZJZ for a guest house. When not in use it was turned off at the unit control panel with the doors left open. There was a power failure and when the power was restored the refrigerator turned itself back on. Needless to say it must have been running for 2 weeks with the doors open and the condensation filled the holding tank and then proceeded to overflow on the wood floor. The floor was ruined. There was no indication in the manual to warn of the unit restarting when power is restored so it must be unplugged or the circuit breaker turned off to avoid a similar problem.

Product: Whirlpool Gold Series, Model WRX988SIBM01: Purchased 2014 at Lowes. 2nd day after delivery, called Whirlpool, refrigerator not working properly, freezer drawer will not close, condensation on outside. Sent person that delivered the refrigerator to fix problem, freezer had frozen ice behind each drawer approximately 2 inches that would not allow drawers to close. Delivery person used hair dryer to melt ice and adjusted drawers. Still periodically have to physically remove ice build up to allow drawers in freezer to seal properly. Ice maker stopped working, makes no ice at all, ice comes from inside refrigerator not from freezer, bad design.Today woke up to freezer drawers completely thawed and had to throw away all food, panel shows temperature at -2*. All food thawed and unable to be cooked/used. Called Whirlpool could not send someone until next Tuesday (4 days). We are a family of 5 and cannot wait that long. Unfortunately have called 3 other appliance companies only to find that refrigerator has to be repaired by special technicians! This is our first Whirlpool, bought because made in America, have been very disappointed with our $2500.00 purchase. Not sure that we will ever purchase another Whirlpool product, our inclination will be to buy less expensive product and choose to replace as opposed to paying recurring service calls + parts and labor.

I purchased a high-end Whirlpool dishwasher (WDT710PAYM) a few months ago thinking I was making a wise upgrade. Poor design and it wont dry dishes or properly wash utensils when theyre placed in the utensil rack on the door panel. The unit heavily condenses after using heat dry mode and large water droplets completely cover the top of the inside cabinet. Eventually, they all fall down into the dishes and you now have wet dishes again. The Whirlpool tech’s response was to scratch the cabinet plastic with a scratchy pad, smear rinse aid over the plastic cabinet and that should stop droplets from forming. Whirlpool’s customer service told me they shouldve never told me that and what I should do is be there during the drying cycle and open the cabinet door to let the steam out. This is completely ludicrous. Dont walk but run away from Whirlpool products.

After repair came out and replaced the main circuit board we thought the worry was over. It hasnt worked right yet, making loud noise. It continued to never make ice correctly and now, 18 months later our freezer is out! Everything is unthawed and it will not make ice. We called Whirlpool to explain our problem and the only response we get from them is....they can sell me an extended warranty. We spent $2400 on a refrigerator and they wont even talk about fixing it. We dont want anything free, just ours working. Needless to say Whirlpool lost my business forever. I bought a Whirlpool fridge in 2014 and started having problems a year later. It was making really loud noises and the fridge part wasnt working. All the food was warm. Of course there is no warranty on it after one year. I called a repairman and he said that the doors dont seal properly so the warm air is getting in causing condensation which freezes the engine/fan which is the cause of the loud noise. The reason why the upper fridge is warm is because the fan pushes the cold air up from the freezer, which of course wasnt working. Then I noticed that the frame at the bottom of the fridge is bending causing the freezer not to seal properly which would be the reason for warm air getting inside the fridge.

The refrigerator does what it is supposed to do. The fact that I had to have it repaired only after 1 year of ownership confounds me. The space in this side by side is a bit crampy. Seems like Im always shuffling things around. I truly believe that Whirlpool made the condensation tray underneath the unit out of cardboard. It literally disintegrated and started leaking after about a year and it was 200.00 to have it replaced by a repairman. The water filters always tend to piddle on the floor too. At least I hope thats what it is, and not another wilted tray!

Purchased 29 cu ft French door Bottom Mount Refrigerator 9/5/2013. The ice machine started leaking continual water by August 2015 and by October 2015 the freezer quit working. Have had it repaired once and the second time the repairman said we need a new evaporator and condenser. Called Whirlpool and they said since it is out of warranty we are on our own. According to both repairman this is a common problem with this model (WRF989SDAW00). I understand that appliances break and they need repaired; however, you would think a refrigerator that cost over $3000 would last longer than 2 years. Do not purchase a Whirlpool French Door Refrigerator; even if you purchase an extended warranty, you will still have spoiled food and leaking water to tend with. We have had nothing but problems with ours.

I had a Whirlpool GI7FVCXWY01. Purchase 3/13/2010. I had repairman after repairman come to fix it. The last one probably saved my family and my house. The light in the back corner was not only blinking, but flashing rapidly, much like some wild party light. It eventually stopped. The freezer works perfectly fine, the fridge works when it wants to. The ice maker makes ice some days but not others. The motor on the ice dispenser is completely frozen up. Does that all sound about right? If it does, clean it out and cut the power to it before someone gets electrocuted or your house catches fire.If you cant find the electrical diagram, or the company wants $455 to answer your questions, look under the right side of the freezer draw, but not on the draw. Remove the guard on the very bottom of the unit, near the wheels on the right side. You will feel a plastic bag attached to the underside. Inside that bag is the complete diagram of all the wiring harnesses along with the schematic for the amps and voltages for each wire. Are they telling your circuit board is bad and you will need a new one? Before you do that, inside the fridge compartment, in between the water filter and the ice maker, remove the light cover. Notice that inside that space is the access to another panel. Remove that panel. BE SURE THERE IS NO POWER RUNNING TO THE UNIT FIRST. Here you will find a connection plug with more or less 15 wires that are connected to the main wiring harness. Above that plug you will find a holding chamber. This holding chamber contains water from the filter that is waiting to go to the ice maker. It has dripped condensation on the plug since the day you first turned on your fridge. Your wires are most likely broken and corroded. You will need to have your unit completely rewired, but because of the design flaw that fix will only buy you another 4-5 years. My Whirlpool GI7FVCXWY01 left yesterday 5/15/2014 and none too soon.

This seems to be a very common complaint with Whirlpool French door especially after reading other reviews. Bought a WRF560SMY in 2/2014, from Lowes who installed it and promised good service for that first year. Whatever went wrong, they would take care of it, replace if needed, pay for lost food, etc. So far, so good. Now in 7/2015, warranty is up of course!!! And we are selling our home, so thought I would get an extended warranty as another selling point that would transfer to new owners. Well, of course, right after I purchased the warranty, the day after actually, the freezer started buzzing. Took a look and the whole back wall of freezer was covered in frosty ice. So defrosted it, seemed to run okay... For a few hours, same problem. It sounds like the compressor fan is scraping on ice, and it runs continuously. Defrosted again, same problem. So now it is time to break down and get on the phone, which I hated to do since I went through this with Samsung in late 2013, took me 3 months to resolve. Anyway, called Whirlpool Michigan office, which I recommend. They claimed they would cover repairs, and to call their warranty repair dept. to schedule service. THEY told me I was out of luck, as my just purchased warranty would not be good for 60 days. Back to Michigan, they told me it WOULD be covered, and to try again. No go, and this time someone with a middle eastern accent told me not only would it not be covered, but even after the 60 days, it still would not be covered as it was a, GET THIS!!! pre-existing condition! Excuse me, this is not a brain tumor, and Obama did away with that anyway. So tried to call Lowes, who sympathized, but could not help since the warranty I purchased was from Whirlpool, but they would repair if I paid. And be aware that most chain stores require you purchase an extended warranty within 30 days of installation, so out of luck there, but they were nice about it, told me go back to Whirlpool. So another call to Michigan, and FINALLY got a gal at their call center in Tennessee, who resolved my problem in about three minutes. All in all, 12 phone calls. This is a manufacturer issue. she said, not a repair problem. which is what the others were apparently not educated about. It appears, although she did not say so in so many words, that this is a very, very common problem, and Whirlpool will indeed cover condenser or defrost heater assemblies for 3-5 years depending on the model. So she is supposedly calling a local repair and someone will be out in a day or two, but will call us first. No call yet, so still nail biting. I would recommend to all of you with this or other issues to read the manufacturer warranty very, very carefully. There are some things in there that go beyond the standard year, and I KNEW I had read that this problem was covered beyond the one year, and indeed, it is. And also to call, call. Call their Customer Experience Center in Michigan (1-800-253-1301) and if your freezer is icing up, you will most likely get them to fix, depending on the age of your unit. If you dont get satisfaction with the first person, keep calling back again and again, and get the NAME of the person you have spoken with and tell them to document your call. This saved me, as every call I made came up on their screen so they knew I was getting frustrated. But, she assured me, this particular problem is ABSOLUTELY COVERED BY WHIRLPOOL, so obviously it is a defect they know about. Why they dont fix it at factory, dont know but will continue to look for that answer. They got especially cooperative when I told them I was purchasing a home that would need all new appliances in the near future, which is true. Use the Michigan number and keep calling and calling until you get satisfaction. This is a covered repair beyond the one year. By the way, I do not have my ice cube maker hooked up and never did, but still had this issue. With this being said, I am very unhappy that yet another refrigerator failed on me. The Samsung after only 3 months, and the Whirlpool after only 17 months. But I will follow up on this report when and if these repairs are made in a day or two ;-] we shall see, and let you all know. The repair service is Whirlpool certified, so will grill the guy they send and see how many of these he has to fix, and whether it really is fixed So stay tuned. Just dont take your time and get frustrated talking with people who turn you down right off. Be persistent, and plan on about a dozen calls and two hours of your time. Remember to take notes of times, names, what was said, etc. This is the only thing that saved me with Samsung by the way. After 3 months they told me they HAD NO REPAIR PEOPLE in my area, and sent me a check for the purchase price to buy whatever replacement I wanted, but they also made me jump through many hoops, send pictures, docs, all kinds of stuff. Think I can almost speak a mid-eastern language now as well. Not so with Whirlpool though. It seems most if not all of their call centers are in the USA. Good luck to all of you. On my way to defrost again so we can get some sleep tonight without the chainsaw noise, and will update as soon as something occurs here. Hope I helped a little. As a PS, the last gal I spoke with was so very nice and knowledgeable. I told her she should not be taking calls, but promoted to training the call takers, and did take the time to call her supervisors and leave a message at how very good she was, which we should all do if we ever get a nice, educated person on the other end.Updated on 07/29/2015: I promised an update, so here it is. After thoroughly explaining my issue, they promised and delivered a repair person who arrived within the time they gave. He was very nice, but even tho they knew what my problem was, the guy did not have the parts onboard. He said it may take a week or two. So I am defrosting my freezer about every 48 hours to keep it from totally destroying itself. To the guy who exchanged his Whirlpool for a Samsung, I wish you a whole lot of luck if something goes wrong, and it will for sure. You wont get anyone who speaks English, but if you have a Lowes warranty, you may fare better. I can give you details on what will go wrong and how they deal with it if you want. I would advise you to have the Lowes warranty, and not a Samsung warranty, and make sure you get one within 30 days, or you are out of luck with Lowes. Good luck to you. Will update more on my Whirlpool, will say the repairman was very, very nice and gave me his card to call if I had more problems I could not solve myself until the part comes in. By the way, I do not use the icemaker and never did connect it, nor with the Samsung. I pity anyone who has to deal with Samsung directly and strongly advise you to get the warranty thru the store.

I placed a service call for a high pitch sound that emanates from our new Whirlpool refrigerator MD#WRF990SALM00. It is hardly perceptible although hurts my wife and Is ears. The technician was courteous and efficient although said that the sound was typical of this model. He did find another issue with condensation forming at the top and returned with the repair part in a timely manner. I placed another call to Whirlpool whom suggested that I order a different authorized service company to investigate although if the results of the call was that it is a typical sound of this model that there would be a service call charge. We purchased a WRS576FIDM refrigerator from HHGregg in August 2015 and immediately had problems with ice maker and door having condensation on it. I contacted Whirlpool who had a tech come to my house and verify problems. Whirlpool replaced it with a new refrigerator in November 2015 and w/in a week it had awful condensation on the outside of the door, dripping onto the floor and pooling water. A tech responded to our house again and confirmed the problem with Whirlpool. Whirlpool advised they would be sending out two new doors for our side to side refrigerator and said we should receive them within 4 to 6 weeks from late November 2015. I asked Whirlpool to send us a different model because this is the second refrigerator of the same model that has the same issues. Whirlpool refused. I have spent countless hours on the phone with Whirlpool, HHGregg, and waiting for service appointments and my patience is getting thin. I just contacted them today 2-9-16 to inquire about my doors since it has been well over the 4 to 6 weeks Whirlpool said it should take to receive them. The Whirlpool rep on the phone had no information about the status of the doors and said that they would have to contact the service company to inquire more about the status of the doors. He also said that under special circumstances, it may take an additional two weeks for certain door orders. I once again requested a different model of refrigerator or a refund.I tried to get HHGregg to allow me to return the 2nd refrigerator just days after I received it since I was having the same issues as the original one I purchased. HHGregg said they could not since the 2nd refrigerator did not come from them. HHGregg said that they did not know why Whirlpool sent me a replacement refrigerator directly and added that normally the returns go through them. I feel like I tried to do the right thing by contacting Whirlpool for warranty work, but I feel that if I would have called HHGregg I would have been able to get a different brand refrigerator which is what I really desire after all these problems with the Whirlpool brand. I did purchase an entire Whirlpool kitchen set from HHGregg. The only problems I am having is with this refrigerator.

I bought a new Whirlpool French Door bottom-freezer refrigerator at Lowes in September 2010. I started seeing ice form in the bottom of the freezer compartment in July 2011. I cleaned it out, thought maybe the door had not sealed good. In a few weeks, it had formed again. I checked for leaks at ice maker. I noticed a condensate was also freezing on the back wall. I called Whirlpool in October 2011 to see what could be done, since the problem began before warranty had expired. (The warranty expired in September.) I was told by 3 different Whirlpool reps that they would not cover any of the costs of repair, but they suspected it was the auto defrost system and they would be glad to line up a repair person. Most of my appliances over the last twenty years have been Whirlpool, and I have had good service out of them other than a microwave that had a recall and that Whirlpool repaired. I was shocked that Whirlpool would not back up their product any better than this, especially since it is one of their higher-end models. Im not sure why Whirlpool has a customer service (or disservice) line to call. They were very uninterested in helping me. I can call my own repair person. I was insulted by the manner that the helpline personnel spoke to me. My experience has convinced me to try a different brand other than Whirlpool for all my future purchases.

The second one came out and told me he could not find anything wrong with the machine and doesnt know why it is rusting, but he never gave me a paper to sign off on. He also said that maybe it was rusted when it was delivered. Not!!! Then I call P.C. Richard in Watchung, NJ where I bought the machine at and told them about the problem. He said that the water does not run through the dispenser but there is a model that does. I want a credit on this machine and get the upgraded one. I called to find out how Whirlpool recommended they be cleaned and they could only recommend a vacuum attachment tool (8171579A) to clean the floor below the coils or a coil brush (4210463RW) that cant reach the coils! This design is meant to fail prematurely. They could have easily installed the coils running front to back so they could all be easily cleaned.

We bought a new Whirlpool side by side, model # WRS325FNAM00 in March 2014. In less than 48 hours, the freezer box was condensing and water was leaking on the bottom edge. The condensation got worse and worse. Five service calls later, Whirlpool replaced the freezer door--which took six weeks because it had to be manufactured. After the door was installed--no change. Whirlpool replaced the entire refrigerator in June. Guess what? The new one is doing exactly the same thing in exactly the same place. So far it has not gotten worse. Well see, we have only had it a week. But already the service rep has been out to the house and added the silicone gunk to the box in case there is a tiny air leak. Why would a brand new refrigerator have an air leak in the freezer box?
