We bought our first Whirlpool 4 door about 4 years ago. Within the first 3 or 4 months the ice maker stopped working which was repaired. Then at 3 years the compressor went out and of course no cooling or freezing. Since we had bought this at Lowe’s they loaned us a fridge until ours was taken care of and told us to call whirlpool. When we called they said they would do nothing for us. Between them and Lowe’s we were finally able to get the refrigerator replaced by paying another $1,000. We have had the new fridge for a little under a year and the ice maker stopped working. While trying to get it working by their service repair people the cooling and freezer stopped working. The service people said the compressor is bad. We called whirlpool again they will not replace the refrigerator and said it will have to be repaired. The service company says compressors are on back order and don’t know when they will have one. All of this has been going on for 3 weeks at this time and who knows how much longer. I had to throw all of the food in my freezer away and as well as most of what was in the refrigerator. I am now buying ice every other day to keep some foods cool so we can have something to eat. We are 82 years old with a very limited income and find this very difficult to deal with. Whirlpool’s reply is sorry but they will not do anything since the fridge is under warranty.

I Purchased a Whirlpool range with self cleaning. I do not recommend anyone to purchase these ranges. The self-cleaning does not work at all. Like numerous reviews that said you can run them several times to do the self cleaning and they do not clean at all. Save your money. Do not purchase a whirlpool appliance!

This washing machine was already in the house when we purchased the house two years ago. In those two years, it has performed well for the most part. It has many different cleaning options, the clothes come out clean, it saves on the amount of water it uses, it’s quiet and I like the fact that it is a front loading washer.

We purchased our Whirlpool Gold series, french door refrigerator 22 months ago. The freezer and ice maker has stopped working. We had one repairman come out already and he couldnt fix it. We have another one coming in 2 days. I am very disappointed with the Whirlpool brand. I also bought a microwave, 2 wall ovens, and a dishwasher at the same time. The microwave makes a clicking noise every time you use it.

We bought a fridge in November 2013. Brand new, paid about $2400. After a few months, the fridge wasnt keeping our food cold, was leaking from the ice maker, and wasnt making ice. I called for a repair and about a week later they sent someone out. He assessed it, then came back a week after that to replace the part. Within a month or two later, the same problem. I called for service and was set up with a new company. The repairman called me a couple days later and instead of setting up a time to come in, he says its a common problem, he knows whats wrong, and he will order the part and call me next week to come replace it. A week passed, no word. I tried calling the man back, left several voicemails, and no answer. After another week, I call whirlpool again and tell them I heard nothing from the man and at first they tell me they cant do anything with it since it is an open ticket and I tell them thats not okay. They need to close it, he never even came to the house and assign it to someone else. After they tried multiple times to call the repair company themselves with no answer, they assigned it to a new repair company. Again, it was assessed, a part was ordered and replaced another week later. So now its been well into 9 months of having a worthless fridge. A few weeks after that part was replaced, the problem was back and I called again for repair. I was told if this problem is not solved this time I would be eligible for a replacement fridge. Obviously, it did not work so I called to have a replacement fridge at the end of August. I was told that someone would call me to set it up in 5-7 business days but maybe a little longer since Labor day was right around the corner. I waited, patiently. I called every few days for weeks until mid October and kept getting told it had not been assigned, they are really backed up, it will be just a little bit longer and they will send a message. Mid October, my sister in law called for me and she was told that it was denied because I had not had it serviced within the last 4 weeks. WHAT KIND OF ANSWER IS THAT??? Thats like putting salt on a wound!! I have had spoiled food, constant clean up of leaks, and constant wasted calls to get told that it was denied because it wasnt serviced in the last 30 days while I was waiting for a response from Whirlpool??? So of course I grab the phone and go off. They agree to reopen the case because it was denied for a bad reason. At this point, as I type this, I have been on hold for 55 minutes to speak to yet another supervisor because it has been 2 and a half weeks since they reopened my case and I am told it has not been assigned and the best they can do is send another message.

So I had a problem with the water heater after 2 years and had the sensor fix by my heating people. Now the water heater is 3 years old and started leaking from the top of the water heater. Called my heating people and they fix the pipe and coupling on top but he told me the water was still bubbling up at the top. He told me it could stop and 70% it would be ok. Went to check on it and it continues to leak so I called Whirlpool because it was still under warranty. They are the most horrible people to deal with. First of all I told the guy it was leaking from the top but he asked me if it was leaking out of the side pipe. Didnt know what he was talking about and he kept sighing on the phone. If I knew about water heaters I wouldnt be calling them. After all the questions it came down to it was leaking where I told him at the top. He gave me a number and told me to take the water heater back to Lowes and get a new one and then call them and they would move the warranty over to the new heater. Really???? We are not talking about clothes you want to bring back to a store. Asked him how I should do this and he told me to call a heating contractor. So does he think that the heating contractor and going to run the water heater back for a new one??? In the end I just called my heating people and they are going to send somebody out to install a new heater. So much for Whirlpools warranty. If this is under warranty and it is exclusive to Lowes then they should be having Lowes bring a new one and install it.

I bought a Whirlpool over the range microwave in 2015, after about 6 months in I noticed that the microwave door was starting to crack. I thought maybe I bought a cracked one. About a year in the microwave is cracked. Pieces of the microwave are starting to fall on the food I am cooking. The last straw was when my 4-year-old was gagging and then choking on a piece of the plastic that fell from my microwave.

I like the top and the stainless steel finish - its electric and so the inside is a pain to clean. Flat top - burners heat well/oven gets up to temp fast. Cleaning the outside isnt difficult, I use Bar Keepers Friend on the SS and Wegmans on the flat top - for the back black splash Mrs. Meyers - so its 3 products but its also 3 minutes. I live alone and so use is minimal as well. Im not sure Id like it in a busy house with kids.

Whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer set bought 5/25/2012 - The washing machine started beeping during the drain cycle and I have to reset it. After messing with it for around 30 minutes I can finally get it to drain. Then last night the dyer started making a loud squeal. I called and it is not under warranty anymore, so I have to flip the bill. My last $75.00 set from a church sale lasted 15 years. I paid $1,331 and this is the worst piece of crap I have ever bought. Lowes will not fix the problem when there is 1000s of complaints. I would have never paid this much, if I knew it wasnt going to last!UPDATED ON 05/15/2015: Whirlpool sent out Appliance Hospital to diagnose the problems. The washing machine needs a new tub, seals, circuit boards, drain motor etc and the dryer needs everything + an idler pulley because the original one disintegrated. The part they want me to buy is the same one that already failed. The cost to fix it, is over the amount I paid. REALLY? Somebody needs to do something to help the consumers. Blogging doesnt seem to help. I am handicapped and I have to go to the laundry mat now because I cant afford another set. DONT BUY WHIRLPOOL.

I absolutely hate my Whirlpool refrigerator! The first day I had it, the cover to the deli drawer fell off and cracked because it wouldnt stay on. I called the company and they sent me a new one but it immediately fell off and broke also. It is just a terrible design. The plastic slots dont fit correctly and it just doesnt stay on.Then, a few months after owning the fridge, I notice rust spots on the bottom drawer. I called the company and a rep told me to buy dishwasher cleaner and a magic eraser and use that to scrub the rust off. She insisted that it must be near humidity. I explained that my GE stove and dishwasher, along with other stainless steel in my kitchen have never rusted. The Whirlpool company provided no help whatsoever and does not back up their warranty. I would never purchase another Whirlpool appliance after this experience. Now I am stuck with a fridge that has rust stains and a broken door.

We bought our washer, dryer, stove, microwave, and dishwasher in September of 2010. In 3 years we have had to replace our Whirlpool over the stove venting microwave, have spent over $550.00 on repairs on the Whirlpool refrigerator, and now have to replace our Whirlpool Cabrio washer. This of course does not include our time, effort & frustrations, especially with Whirlpool customer service. Will NEVER buy Whirlpool again. Were all for a class action lawsuit.

Whirlpool® Gold® 5.8CuFt Capacity | GAS Stainless - This was not an inexpensive stove. The self cleaning oven function is a total failure. You are not supposed to use oven cleaner on the glass, it now has obscured the view into the oven. The top of the stove is very difficult or impossible to clean. The knobs are a dangerous issue. They will fall off at the slightest touch and the stainless markers around the knob are just a stick on label. The oven temperature is not accurate. The bottom drawer is completely rust spots on the inside. What more can I say. Oh I know. Whirlpool your quality is a disgrace and I want a refund.

I purchased my Whirlpool refrigerator in March of 2011 and the ice dispenser failed in early April of 2012. I called Whirlpool and asked for a repair, but they refused, saying the refrigerator was out of warranty. Being a handy person and upset about the failure after only just over a year, I took the dispenser apart and found that a plastic part had broken and caused the ice door to become unhinged. I called Whirlpool back and explained what had happened, but they refused to help again. They transferred me to the parts department where I was told that the part that was broken was not available and the only thing I could do was replace the entire door! Not only is their product poorly designed, but it is also not easily repaired. I will never buy another Whirlpool appliance.

Whirlpool has been kind enough to cover parts and labor, but it has been 24 days and no service call yet. After multiple calls to their service department, who keep telling me there is not another dealer in my area, I am forced to wait. Living out of coolers for the past 21 days is very frustrating. I will never purchase another Whirlpool product in my life and will advise family and friends on the reliability and service I have received.

Unfortunately, I can not rate this machine LESS than one star. I would rate it ZERO. We purchased the Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine model WTW7800XW0, 2 1/2 years ago in 2011. Since that time, we have had nothing but trouble from this machine. The machine basket gets off center when you have heavy items in there like jeans or a large load of towels and just stops working until you raise the lid and even out the clothing in the basket. If you wash something like a throw or a set of sheets in it, they get all twisted and wrapped around the thing in the center and end up in a big mound. We have had the glass top lid replaced on this machine TWO times over the last 2 years because the plastic frame on the lid around the glass cracked and broke and became warped in a raised position. This caused the machine to stop working because the machine will not wash clothing unless the door is locked down, and the door cant lock if the lid is cracked and warped and broken. So you have to set something heavy on top of the lid to get the lid to lock so you can wash a load of clothing! TWO times we have had repair people out to our home to replace the lid and now the lid is cracked and broken again, for the THIRD time! This is THREE broken lids in just over 2 years. Unacceptable!! The hinges on the lid that attach the lid to the machine are also rusted. This rusting has happened on all the lids that we have had replaced in the last 2 years. I will never, NEVER purchase another Whirlpool product again, EVER. Their products are inferior quality and JUNK. We have the Whirlpool dryer also to match the junk washing machine and the quality is just as bad but we are living with it because we have no choice right now. It takes 2 hours to get a load of clothing dry and forget drying jeans or towels; it takes forever! Whirlpool makes a dreadful product and their customer service is even more dreadful. =(

We purchased a Whirlpool oven a year and a half ago. Today the interior glass exploded while cooking frozen French fries. Whirlpool customer service indicates that this is unusual. Whirlpool indicated that the only way they will repair it is if we pay $375. We declined to pay an additional cost for this product which failed to function safely. In a quick Google search, it appears that the oven glass fails more frequently than represented by Whirlpool. After only 4 years and taking meticulous care of our Whirlpool Top Mount Refrigerator, the temperature regulator stopped working - and the condenser fan rang constantly. My microwave is a Whirlpool WMC10511AW purchased in Jan 2014 for $150. It is very light weight and moves around when opening and closing the door. I have to use something behind it on the counter top to keep from moving backward and causing problems getting things in and out. In the first year we had problems with the door latch, but after a while it stopped being a problem. I am used to the stability of Amana Radarange so these very lightweight microwaves seem really cheap to me. It works fine at this point but it seems that these really inexpensive countertop microwaves have to be replaced about every 2-3 years where an Amana which costs a lot more lasts for around 20 years and are very stable not moving around all the time.

I had whirlpool microwave model # WMH32517AS-2 that came with my new home in March of 2013. In September of 2013, we noticed there were times that the microwave failed to warm the food or liquids (coffee) sometimes at all. Then we figured out that we could hear the noise it makes when it actually warms the food. So after a repair man came out and saw the issue of not warming up, he replaced many parts but within a day we experienced the same issue. Whirlpool had a different repair man come out and replace additional parts hoping it would fix the issue but unfortunately, it did not. Whirlpool said they would send another microwave to us in January of 2014 but now its April 2014 and nothing sent and I have a broken microwave in my house. Due to the length of time it has been, I had to submit this. We have also called customer service on 5 occasions (who have these call documented) and the person that was supposedly helping us and assigned to our case 7 times with no response. We have attempted to talk to a supervisor but were told that I could not, which is unusual. Its just frustrating that this is happening.

When you shell out the money for a new water heater you expect it to work the first time. Mine did not. Luke warm water was all that we could achieve. After going through the troubleshooting steps we could not clearly define the problem. So they ordered me the parts and sent them to me. The parts were for the old model control unit and does not mate up with the wiring that is in the unit. The representative was put back in that they had no idea how that happened. And, no wrench came with the thermostat just another thing to spend money on. I told them I have had it. Then they say that this is a manufacturers defect and they can provide me with a list of repair technicians in the area. I gave them one star because I could not give them zero. They should have lead off with the service technician. Still not repaired. I will keep you updated.

We built a new home at the beach to enjoy our retirement and the builder installed new Whirlpool appliances. As far as we are concerned this was the BIGGEST WASTE OF MONEY WE HAD. Our appliances were under warranty for 1 year as usual and after 14 months things began to break. The latest is the ice maker in the French door fridge. After finding the diagnostics test online I ran the test and determined that the whole ice maker needs replaced. This ridiculous since the fridge is only a little over a year old. We even upgraded the fridge to avoid any problems. After talking to the people in our neighborhood we have come to find out that most people here have had trouble with whirlpool appliances.. I am ready to send these to the junkyard and replace them with a reputable brand (LG) that we owned before and were very happy with.. I dont understand if there is all these problems with Whirlpool products why the technical team doesnt fix the problem... Get parts from the USA NOT CHINA!!! My neighbor just told me he had the repairman at his house 7 times to fix his fridge and finally got a new one. Just got tired of the hassle and expense....

I specifically bought this to wash comforters and it seemed like it was good for that (rousing agreement from the salesperson). So after a couple of years of working with it, here are my observations:Pros: There are absolutely none!Cons: Okay, other than not having control over the settings (cannot override any of the preprogrammed wash settings), it simply doesnt get loads clean (yes, I use expensive HE detergent). Except for the bulky setting, there is never enough water to wash and rinse the loads properly. Next, it makes a mess of the clothes. At the end of the cycle, and this is true no matter what I wash or how large or small the load is or which cycle I pick - even light and slow spin, it just makes a tangled mess of the load. Stuff gets stuck inside of other stuff, wrapped around other stuff or are balled up. Never have I seen this type of issue. I constantly get the unbalanced load notice and have to manually redistribute the clothes most of the time.To address the too little water level, there are two options. I have discovered that the bulky setting has the highest water level, so I use that most of the time. From time to time (when I need different water temps or just want more water), I have developed a work-around by putting a Y adapter on the hot water inlet and a short hose. Once the washer starts the wash cycle, I stop it and add a bit of hot water to bring the level up enough to do a decent wash job - same for the rinse cycle. So much for Whirlpools water efficiency.Next, the hot isnt hot. Its barely lukewarm. So I turn the cold down to a trickle and I get a bit hotter water. It takes forever to rinse though. Its a good thing Im semi-retired. Next is the inflexible cycle/water selector. I have never had a washer I couldnt override to tell it what to do in unusual circumstances. Boy, what rocket scientist at Whirlpool dreamed that up!But above all, this just doesnt get loads clean. I have experimented with all the variables, load size, cycle selection, detergents, etc. Most of the time, I have to do two cycles with my loads and these are not unusual or extremely dirty loads. They are just normal, everyday laundry for an adult couple. Really, Whirlpool! Who was the conceptual designer on this? Thank goodness they werent working on the space shuttle or some disease research.Bottom line, I am so soured on the design and performance of this product that I will never buy another Whirlpool product, either brand name or generic (Sears). I just cant understand how a company would let something like this out the door.

I purchased model #GI7FVCXWY01, SERIAL #KY4234335, and it arrived in Jan 2010. It is now going in the trash! Two repair companies came out and both told me the ice maker had issued a recall, but in reality, Whirlpool told me to buy the replacement part for $348.73 to fix their poor design! I called the 1-866-698-2538 customer service and so sorry is all you get! By the way, neither of the repair were willing to install the replacement part, as it takes too long to install and these compressors are never the same after the ice maker has these issues! Both repairmen said to trash the refrigerator. How sad that a $2500 refrigerator only last from Jan 2010 until June 1, 2014!!! I will never buy a Whirlpool anything!

The refrigerator itself is noisy but thats not the problem. Most of my low ratings are because of the ice maker. Instead of being in the freezer it is up in the refrigerators area. It jams a lot, makes a lot of noise, had to replace the ice maker assy inside it already as it quit. Then the defrost water drain plugged and had to be cleaned out. Too many problems for such a new refrigerator. The refrig. itself works fine but get one with ice maker in the freezer.

Purchased a Cabrio washer wtw5550xwo in Sept. 2010.. Had to replace the pump a little after the warranty ran out. Then recently the control board goes out. Called customer service to complain. This part costs $320 to replace. They told me since it is no longer under the one year warranty they could not help me. This is a major part in less than 5 years of the machines use. I guess I will be purchasing another washer. It will not be a Whirlpool or any company affiliated with them. How sad. I would not recommend Whirlpool to anyone. They just dont make them or stand behind them like they used to.

My husband and I purchased a Whirlpool over the range microwave in 2005, model number MIX155XHPT-1 and serial number TR S 30 32419. At first the top vent broke then the opening side broke off. Then the whole side of the closing door broke off. Now the whole door wants to fall off. I would have never expected this from Whirlpool, but it happened.

Worst appliance of any kind that I have ever used. Has only on/off button, in effect. Wastes water. There is no option to change anything once cycle has begun. No soaking. Occasionally, the machine simply decides to stop and drain itself so that you can start all over again!! No idea how long cycle is. Nearly done? No idea. No matter what temp or how much detergent or how much water, the clothes are not clean. The lid locks and so there is no way to know whats going on. I suspect there is very little water during rinse cycle. All of the whirlpool appliances are similarly horrible. Washer is the WORST. Shame on you Made in America.

I purchased a GW399LXUS Whirlpool Gas Range. This is the slide in kind. I paid 1658.00 dollars for this stove, because it was a gas convection oven. We purchased it on 7/21/09. Just yesterday, the keypad numbers stopped working. I cannot even set a temperature for the oven. So now, I can only use the burners. I called Whirlpool today. They told me that my stove does not have any recalls so there is nothing they can do about it. I spoke with Jessica in Michigan. I told her how dissatisfied I was that the stove is only 2 years old and the most important part (the buttons) stopped working and they only cover this for one year. She told me that I have to remember that man made things are made to stop working at some time. I told her they should work for longer than 2 years. I remember way back when my parents bought a stove or fridge and they lasted for 15 to 20 years before breaking or stopping to work.I am a long time Whirlpool customer and always had good luck with their products. But I really feel that they should fix this problem. I could understand if the stove was 8 or 10 years old and something broke after using it, but not after 2 years. I will definitely tell everyone I know to not buy Whirlpool or Maytag since they are one in the same. I probably will not buy Whirlpool again and will have to buy something from Japan since it will last longer. So much for buying American made junk!

My husband purchased a Cabrio washer and dryer pair for Christmas 2010. I have faithfully used the affresh every month, and spent a fortune on it I might add. But for about the last year or so, no matter that the washer has been cleaned at times when the load is finished there is all kinds of black stuff in the tub and on the clothes. The tray under the detergent dispenser is all black and nasty and impossible to clean thoroughly. The black stuff will come through the holes in the tub as well. Water stands in the bleach dispenser at times, fabric softener does not all dispense, the LID is broken and has been but I cannot afford over 200.00 for a LID and about 100.00 to have repairman to put it on. We do not have heavily soiled clothes that would create excessive dirt, never have had and we are now retired so we surely dont now. Bottom line, I thought maybe this would be the last washer I would need but I hate it. It is only 5 years old but I am stuck as I cannot afford a new one now. Factory rep says if it is cleaned as it should be, I should not be having this problem. Not true, it has been cleaned as recommended!!!

Contacted Whirlpool and the technician says it will be over $800 in parts plus service to repair. Now I must go 24 days without a fridge in the middle of summer until they can get the parts. Whirlpools customer service is the worst service in the world. They are rude. I have followed their instructions every time and have been accused of being uncooperative. I paid $350 to $400 for my heater and just spent $200.00 to have a plumber put apple cider vinegar in my tank.I was told by Whirlpool that the calcium sediment was causing the problem... I drained this tank twice and there was no sediment in the tank. This is evidently a common error for Whirlpool tanks. We have a 2008 Whirlpool gas range that has worked reasonably well but lately more and more of the electronic push switches on the keypad have stopped functioning. So now I cant set an oven temperature as only a few of the 10 number switches still work. I talked to an appliance repair guy who said that the typical electronic keypads are notorious for burning out after 3-5 years because of heat transfer from the oven. So now Im stuck with an oven that is virtually unusable and a $400-500 cost to replace the keypad control. Is it worth replacing? Can the faulty control buttons be somehow fixed? Shouldnt Whirlpool acknowledge the faulty design and provide a free (and hopefully better) keypad? There must be thousands of people out there with similar circumstances. What about a class action suit? Any advice/opinions out there?

We recently purchased a refrigerator from a reputable local appliance store
We recently purchased a refrigerator from a reputable local appliance store after months of shopping and comparing and research. As an opinion, Whirlpool seemed to set the standard for a quality appliance. Unfortunately, we failed miserably by buying this side-by-side fridge. Two unsolvable problems. First, the cold side door is extremely difficult to open. Ive tried ALL gasket lube methods and failed. Second, the stainless steel used on the front of the machine is obviously low grade that accepts magnets and is almost impossible to clean weekly without streaking. They were kind enough to provide us with their special cleaner {free} but it takes about an hour and a half to use for moderate success. The lady on the help desk listened but seemed rather cold and uninterested in the problems. At this point, we would be willing to pay the extra and go to a Kitchen Aid instead. Our advise is beware of these types of issues and get some kind of guarantee from your store when buying a WHIRLPOOL refrigerator. This is simply terrible.

I am on my second Cabrio. The first one only lasted a few years, but I stayed with the Cabrio line because I didnt want to replace the dryer. That was my first mistake. The second Cabrio washer constantly leaves a white residue on dark clothing. I used an HE detergent, reduced the detergent and put the dark clothes through an extra rinse and still find residue that has to be scraped off. I called Whirlpool on Dec. 19th, 2018 to complain about this and was told there was no history reported of this kind of problem. Then I went on the ConsumerAffairs website to learn that many others have the same residue issue, among many other products. I will not ever purchase a Whirlpool machine of any kind again.

This company has terrible, deceitful, and pass the buck practices. I purchased a Bravos MCT top loading Maytag washer from Home Depot. Maytag is now owned by or has been acquired by Whirlpool. First I was a little disappointed to learn that because I had previously purchased two Whirlpool made washers and got no more than six years of service out of both them. But from the day this washer was delivered it did not perform as it should. I called and texted with the hours provided for rejection of the washer and was told by a customer service representative that it would be replaced. The main problem was the spin cycle. With only a few clothes in it, it jumped all around and moved so much that it was sitting in the middle of the washroom. Thinking that occurrence was a one time thing, I stopped it; cancelled the cycle; and reset it. It finished the load. This occurrence was reported and simply fell on deaf ears. I was lied to and told a replacement would be made; it was not. I have sent numerous emails and have made several calls for more than a year now and I still have the same defective washer in my home. Each time I emailed, I received a different message from the customer service person. This company wants me to pay for a service call or buy an additional warranty for a defective machine they produced and refuse to honor their replacement policy— which they now say is the responsibility of Home Depot. Luckily I have kept every email and document I was provided. I am being forced to file a claim against this company to get their attention and to remedy this situation. The expense of the claim will be greater the cost of purchasing another machine, but it is this kind of behavior, on the part of A corporate giant, that is makes life tough for everyday people like me. Stay away from the Whirlpool name for washers—even a prior good name brand like Maytag.

A whirlpool water heater model FG1F5040T3 purchased from Lowes five years ago developed problems, which could not be fixed. My problems started two weeks ago when the pilot light would not stay lit eight hours at a time and then nothing. Having a service plan through our utilities, they were notified not once but as it stands now, 6 times. Six techs have been out to my house and replaced the thermocouple twice and a complete gas control valve. The pilot still will not stay lit. Supervisor contacted Whirlpool on Thursday. We bought a Whirlpool washer (Model # WTW4900BWO) and dryer (#WED4850BW) and within 2 months I was having problems with the washer AND dryer. Every time I washed a load of clothes, the clothes would have some yucky stuff hanging all over it. I called Whirlpool and was told to try setting the washer on 1 Rinse with Softener even though I never use a liquid softener. Their suggestion did solve the problem, but why doesnt a brand-new washer work the way its supposed to? A short time later, my dryer buzzer stopped working and the knob would not advance when set on the Energy Preferred setting. I called Whirlpool again and was told they did not have a service technician in the area where I lived and that it was not likely that one technician would come on the same day to service both machines. I asked why they would sell their products in an area where they were not willing to service them and they said that is the choice of the store that sold it to me. Then they told me there was a service technician available about 40 miles away and they would fax the order to them so they could contact me. The technician who came did look at both machines and was able to determine that the control panel needed replacing on the dryer, but was not able to do anything about the Rinse Option problem on the washer. He suggested that I continue to follow the recommendation of Whirlpool as long as it works. I can do that, but Im not happy that a new machine does not work the way its supposed to. He also recommended NOT using liquid laundry detergent or fabric softener in my washer because it contains animal fat and can build up and cause problems. Nowhere in the manual did it say that. He took the washer apart and showed me how it was already building up under the washer basket. I told the technician that my laundry has had an unpleasant odor to it when it comes out of the washer and even after it is dry. He said that might be because of the small amount of water that is used in the energy saving washer. If these problems cannot be resolved, I consider this washer to be a lemon and hope it will be replaced with a new one. If I had to do it all over again, I would buy a traditional washer. I liked the idea of conserving water, but not if my familys clothes stinks.

I contacted Whirlpool 3 times, and got no help, other then it was hooked up wrong. The issue I have is that the water heater’s pilot light puffs out when the furnace kicks on. These 2 items are common vented, in the installation guide. It does not say anything about common venting until page 11, and even then, it is not in bold or highlighted letters. Now the unit’s pilot light is going out without the furnace kicking on. Once again, I got no satisfaction from Whirlpool, other than it was hooked up wrong. I realize that I am the one who is ultimately responsible. Hopefully, they put something on the box, or earlier in the guide to warn novices, such as myself. Whirlpool has been my brand for years but I must say that after buying this washer #WFW75SHEFWO from Lowes - on sale, which is clearly a lemon, that I will never buy a Whirlpool appliance again. Not because I believe all of their products are subpar, but because the service on these units is unacceptable. The first call for service repair resulted in the Appliance Repair Service company missing the first appointment due to being overbooked, rescheduling and missing the second appointment due to illness, and the third appointment the guy finally arrived nearly five hours late. Supposedly they were a man short. When the technician finally showed up he claimed it was the board and the pump and scheduled a time to return to fix it and then he never showed up... No call whatsoever. Clearly a lack of clear communication and no respect for a customers time. I called Whirlpool to complain. Nathan, a supervisor was attentive. I requested a different company and was refereed to Appliance Doctor in North Hollywood. Rosa, the customer service receptionist at Appliance Doctor, is quite pleasant, professional and clearly wants to correct the numerous missed appointments that keep occurring with her Whirlpool appliance repair company. First repair appointment missed due to illness, next he came and did not really inspect the unit completely, and third appointment rescheduled nearly a week later due to a death in the family. No other repairpersons? I am certain it will be a car breakdown the next appointment. I have no patience for bad management because it is always an extension of bad ethics, which if you believe many of the negative reviews on this site Whirlpool and their various appliance companies appear to frequently miss the opportunity to engage within an honorable sphere. This is a new washer purchased only a few months ago. One technician mentioned it was due to overuse of soap/. The other technician was adamant that it was a sock stuck in a pump. Really? He did not open it up or even check the unit with any thoroughness. Error codes are enough. I was informed it would cost me and that this problem of the unit shutting the door and not completing the wash cycle was not covered by warranty. I informed him that I would call the manufacturer and insist on the unit being fixed. I did so and Whirlpool agreed to cover the repair. My schedule has been adjusted repeatedly to be present for these various service appointments only to have them cancel with a text. Bad business. I called Whirlpool repeatedly and was informed that socks must be put into a wash sack and no rugs with rubber backing. Again, my jaw dropped. What? I had an Amana washer and dryer for over 12 years and they worked great! So sorry I got rid of the Amana washer now. The Whirlpool is a piece of junk... Poor design and the fact that they are okay with such bad service has me calling around to other companies for a new washer and dryer set that will be on par with my Amana set. Whirlpool is clearly keeping these appliance companies in a brisk business with such abysmal technology. I am on the phone with another Whirlpool rep, Tracy, who is very attentive and helpful. The music playing while waiting, sometimes for 30 minutes, is similar to a film score, which helps calm the anger of time being wasted.

I bought my Whirlpool gas stovetop in March of 2016. The burner knobs that connect to the stove is made of plastic and all 5 knobs broke within the first year. I have called and talked to people at Whirlpool about this issue several times. Although they seemed concerned they will not replace the knobs and I have had to purchase them through Whirlpool. The gas stovetop obviously has a serious and extremely dangerous design flaw. I have kept some of the broken knobs just to tell others about this terrifying flaw. Purchased 29 cu ft French door Bottom Mount Refrigerator 9/5/2013. The ice machine started leaking continual water by August 2015 and by October 2015 the freezer quit working. Have had it repaired once and the second time the repairman said we need a new evaporator and condenser. Called Whirlpool and they said since it is out of warranty we are on our own. According to both repairman this is a common problem with this model (WRF989SDAW00). I understand that appliances break and they need repaired; however, you would think a refrigerator that cost over $3000 would last longer than 2 years. Do not purchase a Whirlpool French Door Refrigerator; even if you purchase an extended warranty, you will still have spoiled food and leaking water to tend with. We have had nothing but problems with ours.

Whirlpool oven aqua lift - This oven is the worst in the world. I cant even imagine cooking a turkey in it. After cooking a pizza it took four cleanings and a lot of scrubbing. A couple of years ago I replaced my Whirlpool gas range because after seven years, the house was growing a gas smell that was becoming stronger. I called the gas company and they determined that it was the oven and not their problem. I called an appliance person who could not find the leak but charged me for the service call. Before I had him leave though, I called the gas company back and had the two talk. There was a conflict with their assessments. The service guy left frustrated. The gas company guy came back and again checked and told me that the oven is definitely leaking. He told me they use instruments, not soap, to determine leaks. With this, I was mad at the appliance company. After voicing my frustration, they were going to allow me to purchase a similar new Whirlpool freestanding gas range at a discount and deliver it for free. I relented and spent close to $600 for the new range. After installation, I realized that the quality was cheaper than my old one. The metal rods in the oven racks are thinner and less of them so they are further apart. The cooktop grates are already wearing and chipping. But the thing that has irked me the most is the burners. You cant adjust them to low for a long simmer because the flame goes out, not immediately, but when youre not around to watch it; and the whole house smells of gas fumes! I called the appliance store and they said that because I didnt buy an extended warranty and that a year has already passed, I would have to pay for the service charge. I called Whirlpool and they said that they have not encountered this problem with their stoves yet. Even while on the phone, I could turn every burner on separately and the flame would go out in a circular motion as I turned the knob to low. The only suggestion they had was to call my appliance company and have them look at it. I got nowhere and I was quite frustrated! These Whirlpool stoves should be recalled! Gas leaks are dangerous! I will never buy a Whirlpool again!

I purchased A Whirlpool washer model WTW4816FWD some six months ago and it is worse than my 13 y/o washer I got rid of. When wringing clothes it seems be out of balance as it bangs like crazy even when clothes are adjusted. I thought it was the feet but no dice and the auto sensing levels allows for the washer to fill completely with only three items in it? The noise it makes while washing can be heard throughout the whole house too. The cycle takes three times as long of any Ive ever used! I hate this thing.

I have a double door bottom freezer refrigerator manufactured by whirlpool. It is less than 2 years old and is an absolute piece of garbage! In less than a year the noise started, then the freezer became a refrigerator and my frozen stuff melted. I had a local technician come in and he fixed it but he indicated that the fix would not likely correct the problem. Sure enough, about 6 months later the same problem started all over again. Nowadays one is never sure where a product is manufactured. However, if Whirlpool had their products made by chimpanzees in the jungle they would be better than the pieces of trash they are now selling!

In Nov 2004, I purchased whirlpool oven GW395LPQ-00 from Sears. Let me preface this by saying I rarely use the oven usually just the stove top. In July 2007 after baking in the oven for a couple of hours and cooking on the stove top the oven went out of control. The temperature rose and burned the food in the oven. Whirlpool dispatched a technician and said nothing was wrong. Dec 2007 during a dinner party the oven again went out of control, raised the temperature on its own and burned the dinner. By this time I have used the oven maybe 25 times. Jan 2008 Whirlpool sent a technician to replace the circuit board. Dec 2011 Stove was on for 3 hrs at 375 - a batch of cookies in the oven for 6 minutes torched on fire, smoked up the house. I have had it with this stove! The oven displays error codes every time and the only way to shut it down was to throw the circuit breaker. I checked the internet to see if there was a recall on this stove - none. I cant believe it. I contacted Whirlpools Safety Department and once again got the run around that they want to send a technician to inspect the oven. I just want the oven out of my house and for Whirlpool to take responsibility to recall this oven & to protect their consumer. There are endless complaints from customers on the internet regarding this make and model. Consistently, Whirlpool takes no responsibility for their faulty products.

I submitted a complaint several days ago about my 3-year old Whirlpool Duet washer not working and costing $550 to fix. I decided to just replace it so my husband unhooked it this morning. We were going to to try to sell it on Craigslist as is. I pulled out the laundry detergent compartment to clean it because I had filled it with detergent and fabric softener the other day. The smell that came from inside the washer where the detergent is dispensed was awful. I looked inside and it was completely filled with mold. I had periodically run the clean cycle with bleach but apparently this did nothing. I am writing this second review to warn people about this. I am going to just trash the washer now and I hope this has not affected our health in any way. For those of you who are thinking about purchasing this washer or one similar, I strongly urge you to stick with the plain old top loader. That is what I am going back to.

Purchased my Whirlpool WRF989SDAH00 White Ice fridge late September of 2014, received the fridge Early October, todays date is Dec 17, 2015. The freezer is not freezing food properly the last couple of days, all food is unfrozen in the freezer. Have lowered the temp settings has not helped, the fridge section is temperately fine. There is a noise coming from the fridge that sounds like a noisy fan or motor. Phoned Whirlpool Canada, they said they could send someone out. They will charge $100 for call out and over $20/15 min after. I asked whod theyd be calling to service. Said that Id try unplugging the fridge for a couple of days and seeing if that helps, and that Ill call the refrigeration company myself if I need them. Not satisfied with their short term warranties. Especially on such expensive products.

We can replace that part for $87.71. It has taken me over two hours to clean up all the glass. I wouldnt be upset if I had mishandled the glass, but it broke when I was drying it with a towel! We bought the washer and dryer set almost three years ago. Great sales pitch! Energy saver, extra capacity, low water usage, Whirlpool name and I thought we were getting great quality! Three years later I am disgusted, disappointed and am junking the washer. The dryer has a new heating element that we proudly fixed ourselves after the repairmen told us that these were meant to be throwaways. We just thought he did not want to work on it. After watching several YouTube videos we had it apart and found the issue was a cracked heating element. We ordered a new one for 100$ and spent another 4 hours putting it back together. If we had to pay a repairmen to do all that the bill would have been the price of a cheap new one. Fast forward three weeks and now the washer quit and it can be one of at least 15 problems. After reading all these reviews we have decided to toss it as junk. It took forever to was a load of clothes negating any energy saving! Whirlpool should be ashamed of themselves for ripping off all of us hardworking Americans selling us junk. At one time the Whirlpool name meant you could count on a quality product! If Whirlpool really wanted to do the right thing, they would stop selling these immediately and give customers a credit toward the purchase of new washers and dryers!

I purchased a Whirlpool electric water heater in August of 2008. The unit had a 12-year warranty on the tank. On January 21, 2012, I discovered that the water heater sprung a leak somewhere in the tank shell; it’s not the pressure relief valve, thermostat or anode port. The tank was never abused and operated well within its design limits. Not sure what caused it to start leaking into the catch pan and out onto my laundry room floor.I purchased the tank at Lowes and went for the longest tank warranty to reduce replacement intervals. I sent Whirlpool an email on 1/22/2012 explaining my problem and I referenced this site. The next day 1/23/2012 I receive a call from Whirlpool (Chris) asking me about my problem. I explained again and they gave me an RMA number and told me to go to Lowe’s and they would replace my hot water heater. I went straight to Lowe’s customer service and within an hour I was on my way home with a brand new hot water heater. Thank you, Chris, Whirlpool and Lowe’s. I am very happy with my outcome on this issue.

I purchased a Whirlpool Side by Side Stainless Refrigerator with Water and Ice Dispenser Model #GSF26CYEXY03 and Serial #HR22908384 for $1397 in October 2012 from Orvilles Home Appliance (GREAT COMPANY!!!). It had problems from day one. The handle wouldnt even attach on the one door so Orvilles graciously went back to their main store and took a handle off their display and put it on ours until the new one was delivered. Then there was a $100 rebate on the fridge. Unfortunately, we misplaced the paperwork and sent the rebate in a little late. We apologized for the delay. The end result was a declined rebate. That was one of the reasons that we chose this particular model in the first place.Next, both of our doors rusted. After Orvilles contacted Whirlpool and went back and forth with them, Whirlpool decided to replace both doors. So Orvilles came back to our house and changed them. The guys were baffled about the rust. Thank goodness that it was still under warranty for that. Next problem was the ice dispenser. It makes ice perfectly but dispensing it is another thing. For the last year we have had to take the ice bin out and empty it and start from square one over a dozen times. I contacted Whirlpool just the other day and was told Sorry. Its out of warranty! We can arrange for you to have the Repair + 1 for a total charge of $356 and then you will have a 1 year operational warranty with that. My thought was REALLY!!! While I was on the phone I mentioned the next problem with it.This problem is with all 3 storage drawers. The fronts of all of them have broken off and now I had to tape them. They all broke within a matter of a few months apart. When I talked to the girl from Whirlpool, I told her that I looked them up and the drawers cost about $54 each. Her answer was I know and I am sorry maam. Unfortunately there isnt anything we can do. Thats why I choose my appliances very carefully! I was shocked to hear that. Just to sum everything up... I am so glad that I spent $1400 to have so many problems and then was given the opportunity (which I declined) to spend another $356 to repair an appliance with icemaker problems and then be expected to spend another $150 to replace plastic drawers. This company is absolutely terrible!

Do NOT buy the Whirlpool Cabrio washer...it doesnt actually wash your clothes! Most clothing still half dry after the wash (didnt get any water on them) and they are still smelling sweat after the wash! Also doesnt clean basic stains that others washers clean. Even if you add water manually to the washer to soak your clothes, the clothes on top wont be agitated at all, hence the reason the clothes are still dirty after a wash. French Door Model WRF989SDAWOO: Horrible quality, worse support! We have a new French Door (not inexpensive). Within 3 months of owning it, we phoned in because the unit was periodically making a very loud, metallic humming sound. We were politely told that noise was normal, and that if the unit was working when the service man came out, we would be charged. A few months later, the noise was constant, and we noticed that the temperature was not stable. Freezer was set to 0, Fridge to 36, yet the thermometer was reading 20 (freezer) and 38 (fridge). We called in, concerned that it was failing. We were put on a schedule for 9 days later. We were told we would get a call the day before with a 2-hour window when the tech would come. That didnt happen. We got a call that the tech would come between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm (he showed up at 5:35 pm).We phoned in 3 days later to tell them that we were losing food (freezer was now showing 29, fridge 40). We were told (by both Westinghouse and by A&E Factory Service, which is Sears) that we should rent another refrigerator. When the service tech showed up, the first point of contention was that we had Whirlpools warranty (and had paid for the extended warranty) rather than Sears Master Protection agreement. Nevertheless, the tech finds that there is a problem with the evaporator coil, which had to be ordered from the factory. The tech was nice, and told us not to wait to be rescheduled, but to call him directly, and he would come the business workday after we notified him that the part arrived. Another week without a refrigerator / freezer, and now we have to worry about what the tech told us; these units are NOT of good quality, and have had repeated failures in the cooling systems.

I had started the dishwasher and had gone to bed last night. I came downstairs ten minutes later to get a bottle of water. There was smoke throughout my downstairs levels. Our Whirlpool Gold Dishwashers control had dark, noxious smoke emitting from it. I tried to turn it off but it was too hot to touch. I went to the breaker box and shut it off there, turned on fans, and went back to bed. This morning, it turned the electricity back on. It started smoking again. I tried to cancel the cycle but it wouldnt cancel. I opened the door to stop the cycle and it continued spraying water and still wouldnt shut down. I had to shut it off at the breaker again. Next problem is my refrigerator, washer and dryer are all on the same breaker. UGH! This is the second Whirlpool I have had. The first one had a rusted tub that leaked into our basement. Bought this model from Bad Boy in 2006 and just after the warranty ended the problems began. We kept getting the F1 error code so with a little internet research we found it was a known problem with Whirlpool. I contacted them and was told they knew nothing about this issue being nationwide, however I emailed them copies of the complaints and responses. They sent out a technician who had to replace the motherboard free of charge. Next issue was a loud noise coming from washer sounding like a jet plane taking off. Hubby ripped machine apart to find the bearings blown apart and in tiny pieces. We ordered new ones and also found that when the new ones arrived they came with a tube of grease and a sealer to use so water would not get in later and cause more problems. Funny there was no sealer on the original bearings.Next the lid lock finally failed, ordered a new one but did NOT install it back into the machine, now it sits beside the machine. In case it fails again we will have total access to the laundry this time. Finally the UL error code keeps coming up. I refuse to put any more money into this machine again so I am allowing hubby to fix it if he chooses, whichever way he wants as long as no money is involved. So right now we have bungee cords holding the suspension rods tight to help with the uneven load code coming up all the time. Personal thoughts - DO NOT BUY WHIRLPOOL washer/dryers. They are crap and the company just does not care and they try to lie their way out of repairs if people have not done their homework.
