Buy Whirlpool Washer WTW4955HW
I purchased model FG1F4040SEPV Whirlpool water heater from Lowes about 5 years ago and have had to literally replace the thermocouple each year. At least 3 of these years we have had to pay someone to fix this for us until we learned to do it on our own. Im very surprised Whirlpool didnt recall these water heaters and make it right for their consumers. What this did for us was confirm that we will never purchase another Whirlpool item ever again. We are switching over to Kenmore!
I bought a Duet front load washer and dryer set in January 2009 from our local Lowes. Spin cycle noise progressively got louder over time to the point we contacted our locally owned service company to check it out in June 2011. Cause is defective shell and spin tub, total repair cost $750. This was about the original cost of the washer! I contacted Whirlpool via e-mail (wait time via their phone is outrageous), they wont do anything. Out of warranty. Up until now, Whirlpool has had a good name with me. Not anymore. I will never buy anything Whirlpool manufactured ever again. (Maytag, Kenmore, maybe more brands.)American companys insensitivity such as this is what gives some of American industry a bad name and drives consumers away to quality foreign brands made in Europe: German, Swiss, Italian, Swedish, etc.Im going to take a hard look at Bosch washers to replace this Whirlpool piece of junk.
We bought this Gold series refrigerator in 2013.. Less than a year we started having problems with rust on doors. It was so embarrassing people could see this. After that it was like one part after another, the motherboard, the ice on fridge, the ice maker. They changed the same part several times. Now April 2015 they say vapor cooling is not good and they have to put coolant and replace another kit.. Now we have to wait 1 week for that part. Meanwhile our food is going to go bad. Ive been calling for years about this lemon of a fridge. And the last time I spoke to somebody they say buy another fridge while youre waiting on the part to come out. Wow. This is literally driving my family insane.. I cant believe they just expect us to let this happen.. We paid about 2,500 for this lemon of a fridge.. I see so many complaints and youre telling me Whirlpool can get away with this.
From the day I bought the refrigerator the icemaker has not worked. I have had a estimation of service calls (8) and nobody seems to be able to fix it. Whirlpool mailed me a new icemaker and still the exact problem; water and ice works but the unit still will not cube or crush ice; which by the way is the reason I bought a new refrigerator. My thoughts are I bought a lemon and the entire fridge needs to be replaced.
Dont buy. Purchased over the range microwave. Service order less than a week after install. Heats unevenly. Burns center of bacon consistently without fully cooking ends. Popcorn pops half the kernels yet Whirlpool says nothing wrong with product. Well within 1 year warranty but had to pay for service call cause Whirlpool determined microwave was operating as manufactured. Laughable! This company does not stand behind their product or their customers. Never again will I purchase a Whirlpool product.
Within a few months after I purchased my gas hotwater heater, I started having problems with it not wanting to stay lit. It was purchased in 2004. I see that this is an ongoing thing with Whirlpool. Every time I would call them, they would give me stupid answers on what it could be. One lady got hateful with me. I have replaced every part several times and Im having problems. About every two to three months, Im replacing thermal couple. As of right now, Ive been without hot water for eight days. I called and he told me about a trip button that is in the little white thing that has wires going to the thermal couple. I push in on it and then tried to start my heater and it worked. They have never offered to replace it or even give me a discount on a new one. No one should be having so much trouble out of your hotwater tank. This is not normal. These are defective and should be recalled. This company is ripping the consumers off and we need to stick together on this and do something about it. Im afraid to buy another heater because I can see that the new ones are still junk. What do you do?
Although we live in Canada, we purchased our slide-in oven at Sears Roebuck in Buffalo, NY only because of the size availability only in the US (actually, the unit was manufactured in Canada as we found out later!). Obviously, this created another problem since the unit was not underwritten by Canadian Electric codes, Sears Canada repair would not touch it! Once installed, it worked great until the first problem with the oven quitting after self-cleaning. It is the second time in 3 years that both the thermostat and the sensor went in this RBS245 slide-in oven. Once the self-clean cycle completes (quite smelly!) and cools, the oven does not operate rendering the oven useless. First time, in 2009, Sears repair only suggested (since they would not do repair on it for reasons stated above) which parts could be faulty: Timer, sensor, thermostat or elements. It was thought to be the electronic timer unit, which was replaced at a $215 (needlessly) because that was OK. Both thermostat and sensor cost $150. Even the elements were replaced, $52. The second time, just a week ago, exactly the same happened. I replaced the 2 items: Sensor and thermostat at a cost of $154 and the oven worked fine again. I called both Whirlpool US and Canada, but no one could/would give any answers why this happens. So far, it cost $600 in parts to repair! This is nonsense from a company that has had good reputation and record. Obviously, that is changing! If Whirlpool cannot engineer a product that works as they say it does, they should close the shop! Reading here, there are others who complained with the same problem. It is time for Whirlpool to come clean!
I would like to share whirlpools lack of ownership for parts they knew were faulty that caused significant damage to my floor. Its absolutely horrendous that one would purchase the highest end dishwasher they offer (all highest end appliances in 3 homes so far) and the company is only willing to cover the replacement of the part. Its a horrible way to run a company. I hope that my review will warn prospective customers to stay away from a company who is only willing to take your cash at purchase (charging an arm and a leg no less) and not care about any repercussions after the fact. I hope they enjoy our 15k, because it will be the last penny they get from us.
My husband and I purchased a Whirlpool water heater from Lowes about three years ago. We have had trouble ever since! The pilot light will not stay lit. We have done everything imaginable to try to repair it. Every time I call Whirlpool, I get the same reply. They email me some instructions on how to repair this piece of crap. I dont understand how they can make a product that they do not stand behind. Whirlpool use to be a reputable company, not anymore! I will never buy another Whirlpool product ever! And I will tell everyone that I come in contact with not to buy from them either. I am also considering filing a lawsuit against them for making such junk! Do not buy Whirlpool water heater.
I had sold appliance for ten years. I purchase a Whirlpool Cabrio 2010. After two years started rusting. It is rusting on the outside and now on the inside, that I cannot wash delicates or whites. I so disappointed. I had lots of confidence in Whirlpool. The model is wtw7300xwo... I call talk to whirlpool but got no help. Now I going to need to purchase a new washer. It will not be a Whirlpool.
It’s the same thing as all other reviews. The Duet washer’s eating my clothes and shaking violently, even with small loads. Forget a service call from Whirlpool - they say nothing’s wrong and I have to pay for the call. The service guy talked to me like I have never done laundry before. This is my third Whirlpool and my last. The first two were great, but the new Duet is a nightmare. Buy Samsung or LG because the Sears brands are made by Whirlpool and they are just as bad from all reviews I have read.
I originally brought this to the attention of Whirlpool on February 27, 2014, and they chose to ignore the matter I raised. I am appalled at their customer service, but then again, customer service has been dead in America for decades now. I purchased a KitchenaAid (Architect Series II, Model KERS807SSS02, Ser. XW4704146) oven in 2009, which included a 5-year extended warranty. The first time I had to use my extended warranty was the first time a pot overboiled and thus overflowed covering the top of my range. Since then, Ive had to have my oven serviced two other times, but resulting from a pot which overflowed on the range. The controls are located in the front, directly below the stove top. There is most definitively a flaw in the design of the model I purchased. It seems quite obvious to me that the design should have included protection from moisture reaching the controls. It is very common for pots to overboil, from time to time, and thus overflow, but this should not cause the controls to malfunction due to seepage. Had I purchased the model that had controls behind the range and controls above the cooking surface, moisture would never reach the controls when a pot overflows. It should not cost hundreds of dollars each time a pot overflows on a range. Had I known that the oven model I purchased had a design flaw that allows moisture to reach the computer controls of the oven, I would have purchased the oven with the controls above the cooking surface.I invested over $2K on this oven because having owned KitchenAid appliances in the past, the KitchenAid brand had historically proven reliable. KitchenAid (or now Whirlpool) can no longer take pride in the quality of their products, most likely relative to the loss of manufacturing jobs in the U.S. Whirlpool ignored me the first time I contacted them on this matter and most recently today when I was told that it was a use matter. Apparently they believe that an overflowed pot is not a common occurrence on a range. I wrote directly to Jeff Fettig, CEO of Whirlpool and he has chosen to ignore me.
Yes, Whirlpool makes Maytag, Im still paying for this junk. Too much to go into detail. I had to bypass the crummy fuse system in the Bravo dryer and hook up my own 15amp automotive fuse in the dryer to keep it working. This after two lame under-contract Maytag repairmen replaced the dreaded board, which did nothing. The washer goes cabunk, cabunk, cabunk throughout the house and shuts down with an unlevel code (no matter how level the load is) every time it does its load during the spin cycle. The dishwasher handle broke off and had to use a screwdriver to pry the handle latch open, until realized it doesnt even lock anyway and just pulled the door open. Now, the dishwasher has this noise problem which means they designed it to allow pieces of debris to escape past the trap like my other dishwasher had that was easy to remove and clean. Do not, I repeat, do not pay the $3,500+ I paid for this junk. Go buy a Kenmore thats 15 years old off of Craigslist! Youll be better off and it will last longer.
We purchased all our appliances from Flecks - there were to be rebates. Also never received them. We have had our oven for 2 years - when I set the oven on 350 it will go up to 400 degrees & the temperature on the front of the stove is 350 then it will drop down to as low as 250 & the temperature will still say its still 350. I called the company - did will do nothing. Will cost me as much to fix it as to get a new one. This a Whirlpool oven.
We purchased a cabrio washer about 3 years ago and have had trouble with coins getting into the drain pump and cracking it. We have repaired this at least 5 times and dont understand why the washer allows this to happen. Yes we do accidentally leave coins in our clothes but we have not had this problem with other washers. Clothes also have odor.
We purchased a brand new Cabrio washer and dryer in December 2010. We didnt move into the new house until February 2011 to start using the appliances. Last week, we called a repairman in to see what was wrong with the machine because it was making such strange sounds. He said it needed 3 new parts including a gear. The gear he took out was broken and gummed up with soap. We were told by an appliance salesperson that the water should never have been able to get to the gear. Parts were to be here by Tuesday of this week and the machine repaired. They called to reschedule yesterday. I called them this morning and they said the tub and another part would be delivered today, but the gear would not be sent out until September 12. This is a brand new machine which was obviously sent out of the factory with a defect. It doesnt clean properly and sounds like an airplane ready for take-off. I have never heard a machine this loud.We are going out and purchase another brand. My advice: Dont buy Whirlpool!Donna
We purchased this washer in 2017, its the top loading Cabrio washer and it has been nothing but junk since day one. Purchased from RC Wiley in Boise and unfortunately did not buy the extended warranty because we trusted that this American company would make a washer that would last longer than 3 yrs. This washer barely washes clothes, leaves a residue on them since there is no agitator, also constantly gets unbalanced or gives and error of LF which means water supply issue when there isnt one. My 15 yr old about has a heart attack when he uses the quick setting and his clothes arent done in an hour and a half. Ive even resorted to turning the thing on to just rinse and spin so things get done sooner, still the stupid washer just sits. I would sell it but I dont want to pass on the pain, so its going to the dump to or to Goodwill cause its not worth the headache. Too bad you cant trust an American company to make a good product. Sad I really wanted to like this washer.
I bought a Whirlpool CABRIO washing machine. I was assured it would do large & bulky. I didnt realize that being so called energy efficient meant that it didnt put enough water in to get my clothes saturated! On large loads or bulky items when I put in my laundry detergent only to find out I had to try to wash them again. Parts of the clothes would still be unwashed & dry after going through a whole cycle! After washing the clothes that did get clean comes out looking like I took them to a stream and washed them on rocks. After taking care of my clothes so they didnt look as old as they were, they are now faded & old looking. I hate this washing machine!
We purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio about 3 years ago. Have never really like it. It doesnt add enough water to the wash cycle unless you use the bulky setting, which fills the tub up the entire way, so wastes water. It would have been nice to choose your water level like you could on the old machines. Now it wont drain completely and wont spin totally. Ive tried using the drain/spin cycle 2-3 times extra and it still wont spin all the water out. Ive noticed that there is still water in the drum, you can hear it slosh when you move the drum, so I wonder - has anyone ever been told there is a filter in there somewhere that might be clogged keeping it from draining completely? My husband thinks that maybe all the water in the bottom of the drum is not letting it spin because its throwing it off balance. And yes, it stops before the cycle is complete and just sits there and blinks and you have to unplug it to clear the cycle. What a pain. We will never again buy a Whirlpool and I absolutely do not recommend Whirlpool washers. I have a Maytag as well and have not yet had problems with it. Bought it at the same time we bought the Cabrio (2 households). At least the water levels in the Maytag are a little more normal. You can wash more than 1 pair of jeans and get them clean in the Maytag. For those of you with the problem of the clothes not smelling clean - try running the clean cycle with a cup of bleach about once a week. No clothes in it - just a cup of bleach in the bleach dispenser and nothing else. Works for us.
My Cabrio is only 4 years old and it stop working properly. I call a service technicians to repair it and after aol $45 service charge level, he tells me that it has a Motor capacitor defect at a cost of $360 to repair. So I have paid useless piece of junk. I out and purchased another washer only $150 more than the repair. I will never buy a Whirlpool product again. My last washer a Maytag (before Whirlpool bought them out) lasted over 20 years. So if you do not want to buy a new $600 washer every 4 years. Stay clear of Whirlpool.
Clothes never feel clean, feel gritty and linty. See grit in dryer lint container all times after drying clothes. Always use extra rinse to no avail. Worst machine I have ever used in my 82 years. Now itching all over my body.
The Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine it’s the best washing machine I’ve owned. Water temperatures are right on, has an express wash 38 mins for lightly soiled clothes, plus the normal, delicate, heavy, bulky, 2nd rinse, if you need it. My wife loves it because it’s very Gentle on her personal items. Energy saver AND BEST OF ALL, IT REALLY CLEANS THE CLOTHES.
I purchased a Fridge/Freezer just over 4 years ago. It was an expensive one. The gas is gone and they cannot re-gas it. If I was told this when I was purchasing it I certainly would not have spent this money. I rang the concessional team. They would give me nothing towards a replacement as they had not one in stock, POOR Service for a big company. I am in business and this is not the way I would treat my customers. This has certainly turned me away from purchasing Whirlpool Products, despite having a industrial washing machine and Dryer. For the record, I had 2 servicemen to check it and they were most pleasant. It was beyond repair.
Whirlpool gold model GI6FDRXXQ06 - This fridge is 3 years old and we are about to put the fifth ice maker in it. Vegetables freeze in the vegetable drawer (yes, its set correctly). Our repairman even says the design is faulty but since the warranty is out, we have to keep replacing the units!
After one of the door shelves in our new refrigerator cracked, I ordered a new shelf from our local agent Neuman Appliance repair in Ashmore, in July of this year (2014). I was told that it would take a while as Whirlpool were notorious for poor service; however, it is now the middle of September, and we are still waiting! When we ordered a new part for our dishwasher from Fisher and Paykel, we received the part in just 3 days. I mention this to give an idea of what good service should be.
This seems to be a very common complaint with Whirlpool French door especially after reading other reviews. Bought a WRF560SMY in 2/2014, from Lowes who installed it and promised good service for that first year. Whatever went wrong, they would take care of it, replace if needed, pay for lost food, etc. So far, so good. Now in 7/2015, warranty is up of course!!! And we are selling our home, so thought I would get an extended warranty as another selling point that would transfer to new owners. Well, of course, right after I purchased the warranty, the day after actually, the freezer started buzzing. Took a look and the whole back wall of freezer was covered in frosty ice. So defrosted it, seemed to run okay... For a few hours, same problem. It sounds like the compressor fan is scraping on ice, and it runs continuously. Defrosted again, same problem. So now it is time to break down and get on the phone, which I hated to do since I went through this with Samsung in late 2013, took me 3 months to resolve. Anyway, called Whirlpool Michigan office, which I recommend. They claimed they would cover repairs, and to call their warranty repair dept. to schedule service. THEY told me I was out of luck, as my just purchased warranty would not be good for 60 days. Back to Michigan, they told me it WOULD be covered, and to try again. No go, and this time someone with a middle eastern accent told me not only would it not be covered, but even after the 60 days, it still would not be covered as it was a, GET THIS!!! pre-existing condition! Excuse me, this is not a brain tumor, and Obama did away with that anyway. So tried to call Lowes, who sympathized, but could not help since the warranty I purchased was from Whirlpool, but they would repair if I paid. And be aware that most chain stores require you purchase an extended warranty within 30 days of installation, so out of luck there, but they were nice about it, told me go back to Whirlpool. So another call to Michigan, and FINALLY got a gal at their call center in Tennessee, who resolved my problem in about three minutes. All in all, 12 phone calls. This is a manufacturer issue. she said, not a repair problem. which is what the others were apparently not educated about. It appears, although she did not say so in so many words, that this is a very, very common problem, and Whirlpool will indeed cover condenser or defrost heater assemblies for 3-5 years depending on the model. So she is supposedly calling a local repair and someone will be out in a day or two, but will call us first. No call yet, so still nail biting. I would recommend to all of you with this or other issues to read the manufacturer warranty very, very carefully. There are some things in there that go beyond the standard year, and I KNEW I had read that this problem was covered beyond the one year, and indeed, it is. And also to call, call. Call their Customer Experience Center in Michigan (1-800-253-1301) and if your freezer is icing up, you will most likely get them to fix, depending on the age of your unit. If you dont get satisfaction with the first person, keep calling back again and again, and get the NAME of the person you have spoken with and tell them to document your call. This saved me, as every call I made came up on their screen so they knew I was getting frustrated. But, she assured me, this particular problem is ABSOLUTELY COVERED BY WHIRLPOOL, so obviously it is a defect they know about. Why they dont fix it at factory, dont know but will continue to look for that answer. They got especially cooperative when I told them I was purchasing a home that would need all new appliances in the near future, which is true. Use the Michigan number and keep calling and calling until you get satisfaction. This is a covered repair beyond the one year. By the way, I do not have my ice cube maker hooked up and never did, but still had this issue. With this being said, I am very unhappy that yet another refrigerator failed on me. The Samsung after only 3 months, and the Whirlpool after only 17 months. But I will follow up on this report when and if these repairs are made in a day or two ;-] we shall see, and let you all know. The repair service is Whirlpool certified, so will grill the guy they send and see how many of these he has to fix, and whether it really is fixed So stay tuned. Just dont take your time and get frustrated talking with people who turn you down right off. Be persistent, and plan on about a dozen calls and two hours of your time. Remember to take notes of times, names, what was said, etc. This is the only thing that saved me with Samsung by the way. After 3 months they told me they HAD NO REPAIR PEOPLE in my area, and sent me a check for the purchase price to buy whatever replacement I wanted, but they also made me jump through many hoops, send pictures, docs, all kinds of stuff. Think I can almost speak a mid-eastern language now as well. Not so with Whirlpool though. It seems most if not all of their call centers are in the USA. Good luck to all of you. On my way to defrost again so we can get some sleep tonight without the chainsaw noise, and will update as soon as something occurs here. Hope I helped a little. As a PS, the last gal I spoke with was so very nice and knowledgeable. I told her she should not be taking calls, but promoted to training the call takers, and did take the time to call her supervisors and leave a message at how very good she was, which we should all do if we ever get a nice, educated person on the other end.Updated on 07/29/2015: I promised an update, so here it is. After thoroughly explaining my issue, they promised and delivered a repair person who arrived within the time they gave. He was very nice, but even tho they knew what my problem was, the guy did not have the parts onboard. He said it may take a week or two. So I am defrosting my freezer about every 48 hours to keep it from totally destroying itself. To the guy who exchanged his Whirlpool for a Samsung, I wish you a whole lot of luck if something goes wrong, and it will for sure. You wont get anyone who speaks English, but if you have a Lowes warranty, you may fare better. I can give you details on what will go wrong and how they deal with it if you want. I would advise you to have the Lowes warranty, and not a Samsung warranty, and make sure you get one within 30 days, or you are out of luck with Lowes. Good luck to you. Will update more on my Whirlpool, will say the repairman was very, very nice and gave me his card to call if I had more problems I could not solve myself until the part comes in. By the way, I do not use the icemaker and never did connect it, nor with the Samsung. I pity anyone who has to deal with Samsung directly and strongly advise you to get the warranty thru the store.
We purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator (WRT5L1SMYF00) in April 2012. Within 2-1/2 months, items were freezing on the shelves of the fridge box. I called Lowes & was told to call Whirlpool. I did as suggested & they sent out their service co. tech, Turner Consumer Services. I had all the same issues as everyone else in these reviews. i.e., food freezing where it shouldnt or spoiling when the stat was turned down even one notch. The staff at Whirlpool was as uncooperative as is possible. They smiled and lied to my face during phone calls - anything to get me off the phone. During the next 4 months (till Nov.), techs came out 5 times, never having the part needed on the truck. Always, it was my fault somehow that my stuff was freezing. Their chosen tech service employees were rude, condescending and without knowledge. Five service calls, 3 parts replaced and numerous calls to Turner & Whirlpool got me nothing but stalling tactics. I, too, was told that their tech had to fail the appliance before they could consider replacement - all lies. The tech, when he gets here, says hes not allowed to fail the unit. On the 11th of Nov., I awoke to totally frozen-up coils which kept the fridge box from cooling. We had company here from out of town. We moved out the new fridge, moved back in our 21-yr-old unit and got through till our visitors left. Whirlpool has been completely unresponsive to my appeals for some relief from this fiasco. I continue to receive requests from Whirlpool to purchase an extended warranty. Really? My husband & I went out to Sears and purchased a GE & have had no issues with it whatsoever. We are older, on a fixed income, and can ill afford to purchase 2 fridges in 7 months, not that Whirlpool cares. Not only will I never buy another Whirlpool product, but I will warn everyone possible to not buy from them. In fact, my intention is to use every possible forum, Facebook, Twitter, any & all review sites here in KC, MO or anywhere to put Whirlpool down. I am, however, considering one more expense - a lawyer.
In less than 4 years the top lid broke at a poorly designed hinge point (+$200). Cabrio washer mercilessly tangles/twists clothes; HE does not totally rinse all detergent from clothing necessitating extra rinse (so much for efficiency); now at 4 year point bearing has gone and machine sounds like a freight train (+$250). Do not recommend this item if this what to look forward to. Called Whirlpool initially about tangling/twisting problem and just got lip service about arranging clothes. Duh, did that already.
My elderly parents had everything they own destroyed in Hurricane Sandy. After rebuilding their home, the new Whirlpool washing machine was broken. Whirlpool refused to disconnect and remove the machine that was obviously broken before it arrived. This is something that no one should have to go through. It is appalling and bad business. Through the kindness of friends, we had several male friends help with the removal. Truly shocking, that this is how Whirlpool handled this situation.
6 years ago, we bought the refrigerator, the oven and the dishwasher. Theyre all Whirlpool appliances. With that, we took the 5 years guarantee extension for all those appliances. After 6 months, the electronic front panel of the oven jammed. The repairman knew what was the problem and had to change this panel. Then a month before the expiration of the guarantee extension, the refrigerator never stop running. I have to call them 3 times before they place a service call at the right place, very strange. Now, the auto-clean on the oven doesnt work. The very known E1-F5 error on the display and no solutions that work. Whirlpool, never again and I will make the real publicity for this brand without a shame.
I am having the very same problem with my french door stainless steel Whirlpool gold refrigerator. Water pooling in the bottom of freezer, freezing into a solid sheet and then leaking onto the floor. It is less than 2 years old. Apparently, this is a significant defect in this problem seeing how so many people are having the same problem with the same fridge. Has anyone reported to BBB? Im thinking class action lawsuit. Im getting ready to have to repair my kitchen floors as a result of this defect. I will be talking to my brother-in-law attorney about this and will post his response/recommendation. Whirlpool should stand behind their product and make this right.
Purchased a Whirlpool top loading washer. The agitation cycle is unreasonably loud. So loud you can hear it everywhere in my home and cannot have a conversation within about 30 feet of it. When I ran it for the first time I thought it was malfunctioning and when I called Whirlpool I thought they would send a technician to fix the problem but they told me that the sound was perfectly normal for high efficiency washers! My other high efficiency washers were very quiet. The fact that they think this type of noise is not only normal but quite acceptable makes me quite certain to never buy any of their products again. Very disappointed to see what once was a quality company to be so lame.
Whirlpool Dryer Model #108409 - This dryer has given me problems within a year of purchasing it. I thought that I was investing into a good product by paying more money, $1677 to be exact. Technicians have been to my house on three different occasions and yesterday the repairman wrote that the dryer in not repairable. Badcock Furniture store in Hinesville, Georgia said that they can do nothing. BWG, who is responsible for the warranty, wants to charge me to have it repaired even against the report of the repairman saying its non repairable. VERY FRUSTRATED WITH WHIRLPOOL... I will never by another Whirlpool product. I bought this product in April of 2012 and it did not make one year before it started giving us problems. The repairman also said that the dryer was probably dropped in transporting it and it could not be detected from just looking from the front view.
We purchased 2 whirlpool commercial coin operated washer machines and both computer boards had to be replaced twice each - model CAE2743bqo and CAE27438qd.
We bought our Whirlpool refrigerator model # WRT318FZDB02 July of 2019. We liked it very much. The beginning of January 2022 we started having issues with things freezing. A few days later nothing got cold. The appliance technician that checked it out said our seals on the compressor were bad and needed a new one. He told us we were better off buying a new refrigerator. I contacted Whirlpool support and they told me the same thing. Our previous refrigerator lasted over 30 years!! I would think Whirlpool would make their refrigerators last longer than 2 1/2 years!!
Ive replaced my ceramic stove top twice. First time it was my fault, I dropped something on it. But last week I was the only one home, stove was off and I wasnt even in the room. I heard a bang, went and looked around. Saw nothing. But when I went to prepare dinner.... shock, the entire stove surface was shattered!!! Now at over $600.00 to replace it I AM NOT HAPPY!!!
Here in Brazil, we use to have a very good brand of durable and reliable refrigerators and home appliances called Brastemp, and I was a very happy, fidelized customer of theirs. The time came for me to move to my new house. I gave my old appliances away to friends and modeled my new kitchen with Brastemp products. What I didnt know then is that Whirlpool bought the brand in 2000 and was selling their appliances over the Brastemp brand since.Whirlpool is clearly selling disposable appliances here. My vacuum cleaner failed after a week. My brand new refrigerator and laundry machines failed weeks after the one-year warranty and the dishwasher sometimes heats up and tips the 20A circuit breaker (suggested by the manufacturer), which is only for the dishwasher. For my complete surprise, my old appliances are still functional in my friends house. I got my old dishwasher back and I had absolutely no problems since. The vacuum cleaner failed again, this time 5 months out of warranty. In all fail cases, the price to fix it was about 70% of the price of a new one, which I took as a sign to replace them for something else. Good job, Whirlpool! You bought a nice brand, trashed it and gave the finger to fidelized customers you acquired with the new brand by replacing quality products with built-in obsolescence others. What do you plan to do next? Whatever it is, dont count on me as a customer ever again.
I have had my washer & dryer about 12 yrs. It has given me great service; however the spin mechanism on the washer stopped one month ago. It was replaced thru my home appliance warranty. I need the front loader style because Im disabled now, and cant take clothes out of washer. My previous set was Kenmore & it lasted 20 years. Looking to purchase in 2 months.
Purchased a self-cleaning Whirlpool oven - model number RBS245PRS06 at Home Depot. Spent extra for the self-cleaning feature. The oven had slight use and used maybe once a week. Cooked a big Thanksgiving meal and decided it was time to use the self-clean feature for the first time. One hour into the process the oven shuts off, no longer has power, and the oven door is locked and will not open. Called Whirlpool (talked to 2 levels of customer service), they wanted me to buy a $200+ warranty for another year of coverage!Researched online and talked to the parts people and this is a KNOWN defect. It happens frequently when using the self-clean feature. It requires replacing the Thermal Overload Safety Thermostat which costs $45 with shipping for the part. The service call is over $100 PLUS labor which can run even more. There are YouTube videos that show how to replace this fuse. The parts lady recommended NOT using the self-cleaning for this oven. Buyer beware. If you are in the market for a new oven do not consider this Whirlpool model. THIS PRODUCT IS DEFECTIVE AND WHIRLPOOL WILL NOT STAND BEHIND IT ONCE YOUR 12 MONTHS IS UP.
My washing machine is a front loader. Previously I would not have purchased one, but after using it for a year or so I have changed my mind. As long as I do not overload it my clothes come out perfectly clean using cold water, and partially dry so needing less drying time.
I bought the Ikea dishwasher (model IUD8500BX1) in 2014. Because it’s from Ikea, it has 5 year warranty. I was using it daily, as I have a family of 5 and we cook and eat at home most days. I have called Whirlpool at least 4 times according to the repairman that was here today. Ive already had to replace the pump because it was holding up water. After which, mold started occurring in the washer. The technician who came out found 4 fault codes on the machine. He was prepared to replace sensors and the circuit board for the heater and the pump, since it likely had mold. But Whirlpool says the parts are functional therefore the replacement parts won’t fix it. He is not allowed to replace anything.Considering the mold is an after effect of the failure to drain, you would think they would fix the mold as well. A replacement dishwasher would be nice, but at least replacement of the internal plastic parts that I cant clean. Instead, they tell me to bleach wash it and run a cycle with bleach. Guess what, Ive already done that. And according to the technician hes never seen a dishwasher have this much mold when it’s used as often as I use it. If you are buying this product thinking they will stand by their product, think again.
Weve had this washing machine only a few years, and our household of 2 probably averages 1 load of laundry per week. Weve always had the same problem everyone has with the detergent stains on clothing and having to rewash loads, and the only remedy weve found was using the oversized loads setting and rewashing a load. The last straw was 6 months ago. It quit going through a complete cycle and would not spin out without resetting it. Then it quit spinning out at all. Service Guard, a 3rd party warranty company, diagnosed a faulty motor and ordered a replacement. After a long delay Whirlpool advised it was back-ordered for 3 months. A week ago Whirlpool advised them it was now back-ordered until 5-27. They did not know whether wed ever obtain a replacement motor. After taking clothes to our sons house for a couple months to wash, we purchased another used machine to use until ours is repaired. It is beginning to appear that machine may be our permanent machine. This is a pretty sad testimonial about whirlpool. We have always used Whirlpool appliances but appears we may have to switch brands. And it certainly does appear these low water machines are garbage. Very disappointed in Whirlpool.
After 5 service calls for cooling problem, under extended warranty, refrigerator was replaced. Had purchased 3 water filters directly from Whirlpool before problem. Could not use these filters in replacement model. In spite of that fact & filters in unopened factory package, Whirlpool would not refund the $100 purchase price because I DID NOT RETURN THEM WITHIN 90 DAYS OF PURCHASE, even though I wrote to their US president. Really unfair treatment & they could care less that I had to replace a defective product.
I contacted Whirlpool on 3 separate occasions. Each time they told me to have the plumber call them so that they could determine what the problem was. Each time he was able to get the water heater going again, but it would only operate for about 3 months and then it would go out again. To date, I have incurred $245.00 in plumbers service fees. My last call to Whirlpool was on 5/14/2013. This water heater was purchased on 1/25/2010 at Lowes in Evans, GA. It went out over the weekend, but the plumber was able to relight it. When I called Whirlpool on the 14th of May, I was told since it was working now, there was nothing they could do. I am tired of dealing with this issue. They wont stand behind their product.
We have a large family so when we needed a new refrigerator we found this very large unit (Whirlpool 32 cu). About this unit, its not really all that wide, but it is very deep. Lowes didnt have a model on the floor but we went by photos. Also the salesman showed us a smaller version of this unit and we were impressed with the design. However unlike the unit we saw the shelves arent adjustable. They are preset. Also the ice maker on top is very small and makes ice very slowly. The freezer section ice maker is much larger. The main complaint I have with that is unless you push the tray all the way to the back ice can drop behind the tray and fall down causing the freezer door not to always close properly, leaving you with semi defrosted food. Whoever designed this refrigerator was an idiot. All issues are really related to design flaws. This is a very expensive refrigerator. I expected a great unit and got a piece of crap instead. Stay away from this model at all cost. It would be smarter to buy 2 refrigerators instead if you have the room. This model will give you nothing but a headache and grief. This is our story about our experience. This all took place within 1 year. We bought it at Lowes. They were wonderful when it came to taking care of us when it was within the stores’ warranty. They really tried to help us. Once their warranty ran out they put us in touch with our new repairmen. Lowes did tell us that one other man bought the same unit and he was up to refrigerator # 15. Like I said, this unit is crap. Our first unit was delivered with a huge dent in the door. They took it back (lucky for us we have 2 other refrigerators).Second unit arrived in store also badly dented. They didnt bother to deliver that unit. Third unit arrives at store but back area around motor all dented up. They order a 4th unit. This unit wasnt dented up so they delivered it. However doors were very off and wouldnt line up so it didnt close properly. A 5th unit was ordered and same issue with the doors. A 6th unit ordered and they called telling me that it was all dented up and needed to order a new unit. Our 7th unit arrived and in 3 days started making funny sounds. Dual ice makers stopped working and inside refrigerator is was very warm. Lowes ordered #8. This unit the freezer doors werent lining up so #9 was ordered. This time everything seemed to line up, no dents however by the third month it started making a funny sound. Dual ice makers stopped working. Warm inside the refrigerator section. Lowes sent out a repair man. He explained a design flaw was not enough insulation around the fan so it was icing up. That was replaced and it was working nicely for 4 months. Same issues with fan icing up, the noise and no ice. The repair man came out again and mentioned what was kind of a recall with the unit. The control panel in the back of the refrigerator was wrong and needed the correct one to be put in. That was done. He told us that we shouldnt have any more issues with it.Same thing again. Same symptoms, same results...we had to throw out hundreds of dollars worth of food. (I just put in an entire prime filet mignon I planned for a special dinner and had to throw it out. OUCH!) Awaiting for the repair man, again. He will be out in 5 more days. Im sure it will be a new issue, a new brand new fix and it will work for a few weeks to months and we will be calling him again.
We bought this fridge 1 year ago. We have already been without a fridge from Oct 2016 to Jan 30, 2017 due to a drawer going bad which caused the whole thing to quit. Now it has an obstruction in the Freon lines that causes it to freeze up and not cool. It was deemed not repairable by service company sent by Whirlpool/KitchenAid, and yet they want one more test run. The last person I spoke with at customer service had a flippant attitude and said there are no notes. What they do is drag you along for so long, make you wait and abuse you with tests, and hope you finally give up and go away. I will never buy another thing with Whirlpool/KitchenAid stamped on it!
Why are the Whirlpool appliances so badly made that they are not fit for normal use? Are they buying substandard parts? Do ConsumerAffairs advocate for more robust, long lasting products, particularly with current sustainability concerns for the world? Having to buy a new motherboard and burners, cups and knobs after a couple of years of normal, careful use, is unacceptable, surely? The motherboard, burners and fitting charge is almost half the cost of a new appliance (gas range). Is this acceptable?
On July 30, 2009, we purchased a Whirlpool Gold French door refrigerator with the freezer drawer on the bottom. It was delivered on August 1, 2009. On August 3, 2009, the ice maker and water dispenser stopped working. After three unsuccessful service calls and the installation of various replacement parts, Whirlpool gave up the effort to fix the ice maker and water dispenser and delivered a new replacement refrigerator on October 15, 2009. Todays date is April 14, 2012 and here we go again, the ice maker and water dispenser stopped working. Luckily, I purchased a five year warranty on the unit. However, after reading all of the posts about fire hazard issues and other various issues with Whirlpool refrigerators, well probably go out and buy a new refrigerator and write-off the $2,500 that we spent for this refrigerator as a bad investment. We purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator based upon their reputation of providing sound products. However, based upon this experience, I can guarantee the folks at Whirlpool that our next refrigerator purchase will not be a Whirlpool product or a product of any subsidiary of Whirlpool.
I purchased a Gold Star Whirlpool Refrigerator from Sears which was installed on July 1, 2010. The freezer was icing up along seams, so sealant was used. However, now I noticed after 14 months that the interior refrigerators lining is fracturing throughout the sides and bottom of the refrigerator. Not at seams but all over fractures, spanning 10 to 3 to 2 on the bottom and side of the interior lining of the refrigerator.Sears answer is more sealant, and Whirlpool does not take any responsibility in designing a defective liner since it is pass the one year time frame. This causes your refrigerator to be on more often, because of the cracks. Unfortunately, the consumer loses out. Both representatives were nasty and when I asked for a supervisor from Whirlpool, an incident report was written, however I will not ever be able to get a copy of it. It will be considered an internal document. It is a great setup between Whirlpool and Sears having defective appliances made to last a year, and Sears to win with warranty agreements for the life of your appliance of $250, for one year coverage. When you buy the warranty and have a lemon, Sears doesnt replace it, My suggestion to consumers is to buy a tube of sealant.
Purchased a matching set, Whirlpool Cabrio Platinum Washing Machine and Dryer in November of 2012. After just over 2 years, Im stuck replacing the Washing Machine at my expense! The washing machine began leaking water out of the bottom of the unit and became extremely loud when operating it. The repair technician said it was a seal and bearing that needed replaced and the cost of repairing the unit would be cost prohibitive versus replacing the unit all together ($800+)! Originally paid over 2K to purchase these units and have them installed. I do not want to trust or rely on the Whirlpool brand again. I would appreciate any recommendation for a better quality, high capacity, HE washing machine brand to replace the Whirlpool unit with (Samsung, GE, LG)??
I purchased Whirlpool Cabrio on 04/06/2017 at Best Buy in Lake Worth. The washer stopped working last month. I went to Best Buy to complain. I was told to contact Whirlpool which l did. Was on the phone for over 2 hours with representatives. Finally l was told a service person will come take a look and tell me whats wrong with it. The service person came after one week out. Told me he has to order parts and it will take a week for the parts to come in. That his company may send some else to come and fit the washer. Meanwhile l took off the day from work. Now today 08/08/2017 the service company that Whirlpool contract with sent another service person with the parts only for him not to be able to repair the washer. He has to order more parts and it will take another week or so. I was so upset called Whirlpool, spoke with two different representatives. All they could say is sorry for the inconvenience that l have to wait until the service person comes out again with the parts. And if he cant fit thats when they will be able tell me if it will be replace. Bottom line is that l will never ever buy Whirlpool products again.
I love the French doors with the ease of seeing everything when you open the doors. The only thing I do not like about this unit is the ice maker. If there is more than one person in the household there is never enough ice. Also the ice gets hung up inside the ice maker often.
My husband AND I purchased our Whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer from Lowes in 2011 (Model # WTW7800XW2). About 10 months after I purchased this I noticed a hairline crack on the right side of the frame that holds the glass top near the hinge. I didnt think to much of this. I figured it may have been screwed to tight when manufactured. A few days ago I noticed the lid wasnt sitting flat and saw the crack had gotten much worse. The Cabrio lid is made with a heavy piece of glass inside a plastic frame allowing you to see through the top. Its pretty obvious that the plastic frame is not durable enough to hold the heavy piece of glass.I called Lowes and they told me that because I didnt purchase their extended warranty that I should contact Whirlpool. I called Whirlpool and was told it was a cosmetic defect because the washer still works. They also told me my washer is outside of its warranty so they would schedule someone to fix it but I was 100% responsible for the repair costs (which I found out will be $400). Out of curiosity I googled this issue online and found numerous people complaining about this exact same issue. When I told this to the customer service agent at Whirlpool, she said there werent enough people to recall the product. Why should I spend $400 when it was a design flaw that caused this problem? I found out the year after my washer was made, the lid was redesigned with a much sturdier frame, Coincidence? I think not!I havent had any problems thus far with the dryer but with the experience Ive had with this washer will make me never by another Whirlpool product again. I cant believe they wont stand by their product! Obviously they know this has been a major complaint on this model from 2011 because it was changed the following year. I have purchased many Whirlpool appliances over the years but dealing with this issues has been frustrating. Im so disappointed in Whirlpool and their lack of integrity!
Dont know the model but it is a basic smooth top range without self-clean option. Its easy to use. I like that it has a smooth top which is easy to clean. I didnt need to pay for the self-cleaning feature as I use an oven liner and clean it right away if I need to. When we went appliance shopping, we needed to replace all major appliances. We chose Whirlpool as we have had them before and they performed well. Also bundling a group of them allowed us to get a great deal.
Purchased a Side By Side refrigerator just 16 months back and this is the Third time the ice maker has failed. Who makes JUNK like this?? Is there not One company that can make anything to last at least three years. I am disgusted with the junk we bought that has Whirlpool on it. I should Sue Home Depot and Whirlpool for Fraud.
As you have heard from 700 other people we bought a whirlpool refrigerator because GE sucks, brand new refrigerator died in 4 years with 4 service bill costing more than the refrigerator. So we did some research and whirlpool was being recommended by several stores and the reviews were better than most. Well we bought the Whirlpool refrigerator and it has been nothing but problems from the start. Everything that can go wrong has and of course our warranty ran out. And we are sitting here with no water, no ice, water tray falls out and breaks. Called whirlpool many times and their answer every time is, we will send someone out for you, and then we get a 300 to 400 dollar bill. Whirlpool sucks as bad as GE. Its crazy these companies get away with this crap. They can build good refrigerators they have in the past. My grandparents have one for 25+ years, now you cant get 2 years out of them. Pure Junk! I dont know what a good brand is anymore, they all seem to suck. Good luck.
Bought a new side-by-side in 7/2020 from Lowes in Keller, Texas. Salesman won me over with the buy American pitch claiming if the need ever arises for parts I would be far better off than with LG which orders their parts from South Korea. I bit, and bought, and now regret. The refrigerator dispenses water randomly and I must keep a glass under the dispenser all the time and empty it when it gets full. Under warranty they say! Well here it is September and after being on hold for an hour each time (6 times as of today) I attempt to get help they tell me that the part W11293378 is not available and will not be made until after this month? BEWARE this brand. This is a poorly ran company and buyers would be better served to look elsewhere.
My review is not about Lowes, it is about the Whirlpool Range I purchased. I purchased a Whirlpool Range in 2013. In a matter of a few weeks the drawer at the bottom was giving problems. It was still under warranty and a repairman was sent to repair it at no cost to me. Something was broke about it. The drawer is so flimsy made it is not made to hold much of anything to start with. I have to take all sorts of effort to get it to close correctly. It is just shoddy made. Then a few weeks ago a piece of the side trim on the oven door fell off. My husband got it back on and then it fell off again last night. I am not happy with this stove, it is cheap made for $550.00. It is white with a smooth cooking surface. Drawer is so shallow and wont stay on the tracks, things fall out over the back. I am not satisfied with this stove, but I have got to keep it.
Have a warranty with them to get reimbursed for repairs for a year. Have had to use it twice now for the same part. Customer service told me itd take two weeks to get a certified repairman of their choosing to be reimbursed. Two weeks to go without a fridge is their solution and they have no other repairmen working. So I ask to speak to a supervisor and the representative tells me she wont transfer me out because thats the way it is. Paid out of pocket to get it fixed immediately instead of waiting.
The French door fridge with the freezer drawers on the bottom are very flexible and easy to access. It goes downhill from there. The ice maker takes 4 days to fill up the bin with no use. The unit does not defrost and freezes up every six weeks requiring a manual defrost. Three mods have been made under the service contract and performance has not improved. PC boards have been replaced and at least one thermistor. My understanding is this is a single compressor unit with piping, relays and valves to port refrigerant to two different evaporators as needed. Unfortunately it simply does not properly balance/defrost and the freezer door freezes up. It certainly is not compatible with a high humidity environment. We will never buy another cooling design like this, but sure like the French Door layout. Glad we have a service contract.
I was very excited when Melanie from Whirlpool customer service called me back about my complaint. WHAT A JOKE! I thought she was going to offer at least a repair considering by her own admission this same problem with my control panel of my double oven happened just last May (dead for the third time). Instead she offered me 15 to 30% off a new product if I bought it in the next 30 days! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?The first time the control panel died was when I used the self-cleaning feature. The oven never turned on again. Cost me hundreds. I have been afraid to use the self-clean feature ever since. The second time was in May and is no longer under warranty? Again it cost me hundreds!! Now I am supposed to be happy with 15% off another one of your products? Why would I have any faith in any of your products? I have since found out that Whirlpool has had so many problems with this model - they have quit making it. The repair man says Whirlpool cant make the control panels fast enough to keep up with all the repairs but this is still not under warranty - how about a recall? Do you guys stand by your products at all?
Since purchasing original refrigerator 2 years ago I have multiple problems. Freezer was icing up to the point where drawers could not be opened, after numerous service calls, door was replaced which did not resolve problem. Refrigerator was replaced on warranty. Soon after light control circuit board had to be replaced. Next light control had to be recalibrated. Now, with the unit being approx. 1 yr old, rust spots are appearing on freezer door. Whirlpool rep advised this problem is not covered on warranty and would not provide any information as to what company contacts could be used to pursue the issue. Very upset and disappointed with product and customer service.
Since May 3, 2016, five servicemen have failed to repair my Whirlpool refrigerator (WRF560SEYM), which is less than 2 yrs old. One trainee from A&E Factory Service had the nerve to reinstall broken parts. I have been completely without refrigeration for the past 48 hrs only to learn that the repairman scheduled for tomorrow has been cancelled because AIG warranty has not approved his visit. Further investigation reveals that the parts were never ordered, pending approval from AIG. Whirlpool cant help me because AIG has not declared the appliance unfixable. Hhgregg cannot help. I have spent countless hours on the phone on hold & wasted hundreds of dollars on spoiled food. Dont trust Whirlpool. Theyre not the company they once were. Their warranties arent worth the paper theyre printed on. Buyer beware!
Bought unit from Lowes in july 2017. Shortly after icicles started forming on the roof of the freezer near where the door & frame meet. Called authorized service repair company to have them check out. Tech knew right away what was wrong. Appears Whirlpool has the parts made in China & then assembled in the USA. China has overfilled the freezer door with insulation warping the door. This makes the door seal sag on the bottom & pull away on the right side. No way to repair. Was told they need to order a new freezer door.Weeks later I get a call that Whirlpool cannot get a door replacement!!! Said they will give Lowes a store credit. The floor model at Lowes has the same defect. When Lowes ordered a replacement unit they opened the packing & found that this unit has the same defect. I am replacing with a Frigidaire! Where is the quality control at Whirlpool. Anyone at Whirlpool who puts these units together could not help but see this defect - but ignores it & ships it out anyway. Thats what you get from farming stuff out to China. No excuse on Whirlpools part. Maybe Trump can save Whirlpool.
I purchased this washer two months ago and have been greatly disappointed with it. I put in a large load on wash cycle, but the rinse cycle is barely any water, and is all soapy water, so then I have to turn it back to wash cycle to get more water and then back to rinse to finish it properly. I was never told about the short water cycle, why not? It is still under warranty, but said I have to deal with Whirlpool, and all they can do is send a repairman out and if it is not a defect, it will cost me $130.00 for the service.
Fridge residue - ED5FVGXWS07: Well, I gave it a long time and this is how they make Whirlpool refrigerators! I had a GE for 20 years and was so looking forward to this new one. What idiot designs a fridge that leaves water stains like this? And, the water falls onto the floor when refilling a water bottle plus there is no catch for the water. Argh! I really dont want to live with this for 20 years! Their resolution was to get a water softener; really?! It has a filter built in. They refused to replace the fridge.
I love my new stove!! It cleans so much easier than my old one. Would recommend whirlpool to everyone. You cant beat the price for a Whirlpool because it will last way over a decade. My mom has one too and she said, Get a Whirlpool Lyn because they last so long and she said after 10 years hers still looks new!
Replaced an old water heater with new Whirlpool 40 gal. short natural gas water heater N40561-403. Good instruction, very clear directions. Also purchased at Lowes was a Utilitech universal gas water heater installation kit. The nipples provided in the kit screwed very loosely into cold water inlet and hot water outlet. I used teflon tape and finished the installation. When I turned the water on both fittings leaked. I couldnt tighten the nipples any further so I shut the water off and drained the tank a bit and reinstalled the nipples with at least 8-9 wraps of teflon tape. Im not sure if that is normal or if nipples were under size or if the cold water inlet and hot water outlet were larger dia. than normal. FYI.
In March of 2013, I purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator; model number WRF990SLAM00 from Lowes. About two weeks after my manufacturers warranty expired, I called Whirlpool because the refrigerator wasnt working anymore. It took several weeks and the need to call four different repair companies before we finally had one that was willing and able to come attempt to repair the refrigerator. They came out, changed a few parts and left. Several weeks later, the refrigerator quit again. This time, when I called whirlpool (about June 2014), I was able to convince them to give me an extended warranty. They told me that the warranty would expire in December, and that all the work and service would be covered up to that date. This was fortunate because that repair, parts alone, was near a thousand dollars. Of course, the repair company couldnt make these repairs in my kitchen, so they had to remove the refrigerator and take it to their shop for several days. By this point, we had lost two refrigerators full of food. In mid-November 2014, the refrigerator quit again. We lost another refrigerator full of food. We called Whirlpool and the repair company again, and the repair was scheduled. I have six children and we spent Thanksgiving without a refrigerator in our home. The repair shop kept the refrigerator for several days after they fixed it to make sure it wouldnt leak coolant, because by this time, they had figured out that there were several pin hole sized leaks in the coolant line. It didnt leak. They had it for about four weeks total before they brought it back to us. By the next morning after having the refrigerator plugged in for several hours in our kitchen, the temp was at 65 degrees in the refrigerator and 60 in the freezer. I called the repair company again and whirlpool. The repair company has come to the conclusion that there must be a leak in the coolant line in the walls of the refrigerator and it is deemed unrepairable. They called the whirlpool tech line and the tech people told them to come back to our house and read the pressures the next day. They came out, read the pressures, determined that coolant had leaked out and told the tech department it was not repairable. The tech department told them to go through the entire cooling system again. This is something they have done several times. Today, they brought the refrigerator back after going through the entire cooling system, yet again. Its still not working. As I type this, my refrigerator is at a balmy 55 degrees. The repair company and I have both, on numerous occasions requested a replacement refrigerator. This was a very high end purchase for us. The original cost of the refrigerator was around $3,000. I have lost around $1500 worth of food, which Ive also requested on numerous occasions for Whirlpool to reimburse and they refuse. Whirlpool refuses to replace the refrigerator. Today, I found out that, by mistake, they gave me a one year extended warranty instead of six months. They said that it does not expire until June 19, 2015. Even with this information, they told me that the best offer that they will give me is IF I am willing to EXCHANGE my lemon that is in my kitchen right now, they will SELL me a replacement refrigerator at a discount. They say that the terms of the extended warranty are different than terms of a manufacturers warranty. This is unacceptable. I am currently out several thousand dollars for an over sized filtered water dispenser in my kitchen. Throughout 2014, we spent somewhere between three and four months without a working refrigerator in our home. As of right now, I havent had a working refrigerator for about six weeks and through Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. I bought the refrigerator because I thought it would act like a refrigerator and not a paper weight. An Implied Warranty of Merchantability has no expiration date. It requires that the goods be fit for the ordinary purposes for which they are to be used. This refrigerator is not fit to be used.Id also like to mention that during the times that Ive spoken with Whirlpool on the phone, they have told me that they would replace the refrigerator if the repair company deemed it unrepairable. Typically when I call whirlpool, I am on hold for fifteen to thirty minutes before I get to a representative. Today, I was on hold for forty minutes before my call was disconnected. This has happened numerous times. Ive also had representatives disconnect the call several times when they were transferring me to another department, or putting me on hold. I estimate that I have spent at least forty hours on the phone with the customer service department for whirlpool in the last several months. And even, with all that, I have not had a dependable refrigerator for eight months. I need this resolved and I dont feel that it is fair for me to be financially punished because of the lemon that Ive already purchased from Whirlpool.
My son bought a Mastermind 250-L refrigerator on 09.09.2009 (invoice no. **) from the Good Morning store in Alleppey (phone no. 0477-23253809). The cooling effect was lost with a loud sound. I requested customer care. Three times, four people came and they gave a receipt of RS 890. After they left, it is in the same condition. I requested so many times, but there’s no reaction. Before I could go for legal proceedings, I would like to make you aware of the conditions prevailing in Kerala in sales and services. The young trainees who dont know to repair have broken down the entire system and it is fully collapsed. The franchise office washed their hands. This will spoil the entire name and fame of the company. Kindly look in to the matter and do the needful immediately.
6 months after we moved into our new house our Whirlpool refrigerator froze up and we had it repaired. 6 months later the same thing. Still under warranty. 6 months later the same thing. I asked for a new refrigerator. They said it could not be replaced unless it was deemed unrepairable!!!! Now after 2 years with the same problem every 6 months I get in contact with corporate and advised to get an extended warranty because “they don’t replace refrigerators”. So an extended warranty will cost $350 this year and increases every year because the fridge is over 1 year old. Ok so I am paying to have it repaired with their so called warranty!!! We went to an appliance store and purchased a new not Whirlpool refrigerator. Will never buy anything Whirlpool again and let all my friends and family know of my experience.
My NEW Machine Top loader HUGE drum. Have problems with clothes not looking like they’ve even been washed, Spun so hard they are twisted all to heck. And white stuff - my oxy powder maybe? Not dissolved. My old machine was a Kenmore 30 yrs old. Thought I’d be able to trust whirlpool but not sure. Am I missing something in the loading process. Seems to read something bout not Covering the knob on the bottom. Is this true?
I just bought a new home, and it came with what was described as top of the line Whirlpool appliances. The Cabrio toploading washer worked for two loads then just stopped. After arguing with Customer Service for a while (They insisted this must be an installation error.), I talked with the builders. They gave me a different customer service number. My second call got me a repair appointment, during which the repairman discovered that the pump was in fact dead. Because this is a new model, they didnt have a replacement on hand. So, I will have to wait an additional week and a half before the part is installed. This is a product that retails for around $1000, and it lasted less than one day. My last washer cost $400 and was still running fine when I sold it after 10 years. I can already see the handwriting on the wall. After my warranty is up, I will have to replace this hunk of junk with something that has some reliability.
Whirlpool Cabrio Washer Model WTW6400SW2 Serial CU0272414: I replaced my wonderful 25+ year old Kenmore washer with the Cabrio, 4 years ago. Within the first year I had to have a computer board replaced that was covered under the warranty. This last 6 months I replaced the suspension rods, was constantly showing that the load was unbalanced. Also have a LD error, long drain, probably because a sensor is bad. Today, restarted a load several times and could never complete the entire cycle. I resorted to unplugging, and starting a drain spin cycle and the washer just flooded my house. So Im done with this unit. Waiting for a class action suit. Lets get started. What type of unit should I buy now. I guess Im going to subscribe to Consumer Report before I buy another. Laundromat for me in the meantime.
I have the Cabrio model WTW6400SW2. I have had it for 5 1/2 years and have been happy with it up until several months ago. The F1 would come up when the machine would lock and just start to fill. I could pause it and start it again, and it might do this 1 to 3 times. It would also do it on the rinse cycle. I have been using it because I did not want a repair bill right now. The machine was also starting to make noise when it was spinning. Well, I just happened to break my dryer yesterday so I thought I would get the washer fixed also. Well, the repairman said that the controller would cost $200 for the part, and then he said the pump roller and bearings were going. By the time you add on labor, he said, “You might want to buy a new one.” He told me that Whirlpool has completely changed the washer now because of all the problems with them. He told me to look it up on the computer, and maybe there would be a class action suit. After reading some of the reviews, I will not buy another Whirlpool again.
We have had the Whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer for 4 years now. Let me start off by saying the first 6 months was wonderful. Then after that, the machines were breaking down every time we turned around at the worst times. With 2 adults and 4 children, you see my point. We have had a repairman at our house to fix these machines 6 times and now, we are getting a code on our washer that is F1. Looking up codes online shows to be the computer system of the machine and a $400-$600 repair, might I add. Please save your money and buy a better and more dependable set than Whirlpool. Washers and dryers used to last 20-25 years, or so my parents and grandparents did. All of the manufacturers are building cheap junk so we can buy them more often.
The appliances in my home range from a Kitchen Aid double wall oven, a DCS single wall oven (I have 2 Kitchens), 2 Kenmore dishwashers, a Fisher and Paykel refrigerator and 2 DCS counter-top stoves (all top of the line). No problems they are great appliances. On Dec.22, I bought a Whirlpool Duet. For 6 months, constant repairs and rebuilds were needed; new computer panels, pumps and new drums. They cant fix it. We have tried everything to get the Whirlpool Factory to fix it or replace it. So far, I have spent twice the original cost to fix the machine (but to no avail) and now you want me to spend another $500-$600 to try to fix it again? No more!
We bought a house almost 10 years ago and it included a Maytag washer and dryer. About 5 years ago, we decided to buy the Whirlpool front loaders. What a mistake as the washer shook every time it ran. After several warranty service calls and days of vacation waiting for the service, they finally said they couldnt do anything. During that time I had been in contact with Whirlpool and asked for them to take them back. Of course they wouldnt. I asked for a swap for top load washer and they would need to also replace the dryer to match: still no deal. It took a letter from a lawyer to make it happen. They also bought back the washer and dryer stands which covered the lawyers costs. So shortly after I received the Cabrio washer and matching dryer, the lid is very heavy which I believe the lid spring broke. I refused to call the service company as I did not want to go thru that crap again. I also know I can fix it myself easier and without all the drama. I keep waiting for another failure but so far all is acceptable. Whirlpool is not the same company as they were when I made my living doing warranty service for Whirlpool! 30 years ago they were the best in the industry. The Maytag pair was giving to our relative and they are still working flawlessly. Unfortunately Whirlpool now owns Maytag. This experience has cost Whirlpool replacing our kitchen appliances. As much as I want to buy American, I will go with Bosch or LG only.
My husband and I, purchased this washer on November last year, I used twice before and I noticed that the clothes felt hot, but the cycle was COLD water. Now use it again until June 2015. In every cycle the clothes were hot, I started calling to get an appointment in June at the 1800-253-1301, but the system was down twice. Then in July then again the system was down, then August 10, system was down. I did not wait more and called back the next day, August 11, got appointment for the 20. A technician came, he told me that the hoses was switched, but I know the hoses was installed correctly, my husband was here at the installation. He knows the proper installation of the washers.
The agitation is too loud. I called Whirlpool customer service and said I wanted to return the washing machine because it was so noisy. Whirlpool customer service agreed that it was noisy and said they would send a technician out. Whirlpool customer service never told me the technician they were sending would cost me 25% of the washing machine cost. The technician said this is normal all machines are this loud. Now I am out the cost of the washing machine plus the cost of the technician and all I have is a very noisy washing machine. Im a real satisfied customer. The machine was bought 12 days ago.
We purchased this machine new and took delivery on 5/21/11. We did not start using this until late August of 2011. In late November we noticed a loud noise from the washer. When we contacted the sales company that sent out a repair person who informed us the bearings were defective. We have been told the parts are on back order for another 2-4 weeks. It has already been 4 weeks since they were out. Whirlpool was no help. They first claim we must have overloaded the machine, then relented saying that things happen. Either way I am without a washing machine we paid $1000.00 for another month; yet they will not extend my warranty at least for the time my machine is down. I am now worried about the damage that this unit may have caused to my new home due to water leakage, let alone the added expense to due my laundry since I must now use a service to provide for a washing machine I own.
I replaced my hot water heater after 22 years and no problems. We got a 50 gal. gas heater from Lowe’s in 6/2008. In 1/2012, we had no pilot light and an alarm on high temp sensor. Whirlpool sent a new sensor and control valve to replace the bad unit. Here we go again, on 3/2013 - same parts same problems. We now have the cost again to have the parts installed for the second time. I have spent 1/2 the cost to have the parts put in than the cost for the heater. I will never pay for any Whirlpool product again. They are plain junk!
Im a member of Costco. I trusted that they will sell me a decent refrigerator, wrong! I bought a French Door refrigerator by Whirlpool on March 2018. It freezes my food on the left compartment and on the middle compartment. I called since its under the one year warranty. They came 8 times already and changed parts and promised me every time they came that this will resolved the problem... still the same. I have been in the phone with Whirlpool for one hour and a half for 5 times and they still want to do more tests. I will never buy another Whirlpool unit again! Costco should be ashamed of selling this brand! And they should paid for this also.
Update Review on 10/15/2020: New refrigerator 12/31/19. 4/27/20 Fridge terribly noisy, called Whirlpool directed to local provider. 5/5/20 Fan replaced, drawer clip broken. 5/11/20 Drawer repaired. 5/21/20 Fridge not keeping up, repair company said new compressor needed. 7/6/20 After numerous calls and literally hours on hold with Whirlpool compressor install but still seemed noisy. 9/30/20 Fridge partially cooling, no ice and water dispenser not working. Repair company ordered new evaporator cover and UI panel.10/15/20 Neither the repair company or Whirlpool know when the parts will be delivered. Whirlpool has no record of their being a service call or parts ordered. I talked to one rude, unhelpful and uninformed service rep. After following their instructions and using their recommended warranty provider, they claim not to have the issues in their system and cant be used to determine the repair/replacement of their unit. He indicated, You need 3 major repairs in 30 days to get a replacement fridge. It took them 6 1/2 weeks to repair the compressor. How can it break that many times in 30 days with that bad of service. Nothing is repaired in 30 days. The current rep seems to care and have a working knowledge. She is sending a request to determine when a part might be delivered. She couldnt give any indication of when the part might be delivered to complete the repair. Days? Weeks? Or again Months? An hour and a half on the phone with very little progress. New refrigerator with 3 major repairs and one small one in 9 months. Terrible refrigerator and extremely poor service! Go with another brand.Original Review: Refrigerator new in January 2020. The first issue was an extremely loud fan.It was replaced. While being repaired, service tech broke a tab on the door. (It happens) Another call to replace the tab. During May I notice its not making ice and freezer isnt keeping up. Lose all items in freezer. Now the 4th call on new refrigerator, tech says needs a compressor and orders while at my house. Soon the refrigerator isnt keeping cool. Now 34 days later, still not fixed. Whirlpool service provider blames Whirlpool. Whirlpool says they are shipping compressors but cant exactly say mine is delivered. Apparently, 4 service calls in 5 months and over a month with a totally broken refrigerator is their bar for a good product and service. Neither their approved service provider or Whirlpool care in the least. Awful service. Try another brand!
We bought a Gold Series dishwasher on 2/12/2013. It stopped working properly and we had a service call on August 6, 2013. Since then, we have had 3 companies come out 5 different times to try to fix the machine. Nothing on the top rack gets clean. In fact ,they come out dirtier than when they go in. The last service call was on October 7, 2013. I was told by a Whirlpool representative that the repairman would call technical services and that if the problem was not solved, that the machine would be deemed unrepairable and that Whirlpool would replace the machine since it was within the warranty. I was also told that their standard is that if a machine has to have 3 service repairs to be deemed unrepairable. So 7 days after the last repair, the machine was still not washing correctly. Once again everything on the top rack was dirty. The machine has had the motor, the pump, and the hoses replaced. Still doesnt work. So I called again to get the ball rolling on replacing the machine and was told that they would not replace the machine and that I needed to have another repairman come out and sit in front of the machine and call technical service. Apparently, the previous repairman didnt follow their instructions. I called and complained twice, I guess Whirlpool thinks that as consumers we have the ability to change work schedules, school schedules, take vacation time, etc. to wait around for the 6th service call, and wait through the 5-hour window that we are given for the repairman to get there. Well we dont. Obviously I have given Whirlpool plenty of opportunities to fix this problem. They havent been able to do so with 3 different companies. There comes a time when you just stop kicking the dead horse. Now is that time. If they cant figure out whats wrong the first time, and not the second time, and not the third time, why do they think the 6th time is the charm? Because I got so upset with them, they referred me to a customer care manager. She called and left me a message, and I have been calling her now for 2 days with no success on her DIRECT line nonetheless. My phone calls are not returned. I wont even go into how many customer service reps told me a different story every time I called. Whirlpools customer service doesnt care about their consumers. They dont care about our complaints. Now I have a $600 piece of junk. I will never buy another Whirlpool product. I will make sure that every person I know that is looking at appliances knows about what a horrible company Whirlpool is. They just put crap in a shiny package!
November 4, 2017 we purchased a 2018 Tiffin RV with a Whirlpool 3-door refrigerator/freezer. We did not use the RV refrigerator until our first trip to Florida January 2018. Immediate problems with the freezer icing up on freezer door and icing up in the top 2 shelves of refrigerator. Milk, fruit, even cheese froze in the top of the refrigerator. Bottom freezer door froze so bad I had to yank on the drawer very hard to even get it open & chunks of ice would fall off the door on the floor outside once it opened. Called Whirlpool warranty service phone number two times 2/16/2018. I wont go into all the details but we were on hold for a 90 minutes and were transferred 7 times by the automated system. Talked to one person, Lindsey, who immediately transferred me again to RV Dept. No one ever answered. System kept saying, Please wait. Then just disconnected and another recording came on saying to call back. We did not after this fiasco! February 19, 2018 we called Tiffin MH & told them about the NO CUSTOMER SERVICE from Whirlpool. They told us to call Sears in Sebring, FL. We did. If we wanted Whirlpool service to bring the motorhome to them & the warranty only covered parts NOT labor or service calls. They did not want to work on it. March 13, 2018 We went to Tiffin MH Service in Red Bay, AL. Earl called Whirlpool tech, Steve, & tried to explain the problem. Steve told him he did not talk on speaker phone & told him very hatefully to put him on the private line. Steve just very angrily insisting that Earl had him on speaker phone. I do not understand Whirlpools Steve issue with being on speaker phone? Finally Earl got him to listen to our refrigerator problems as he stood there at the refrigerator going through each issue step-by-step. Steve said to put silicon in the seal & that Whirlpool WOULD NOT replace a 3 month old refrigerator that actually had only been used 2 months. We found out later Tiffin is going to replace the refrigerator.
Amongst all other items listed in these reviews (especially the tangling and twisting of clothes literally into knots), my guess is that is one way to ensure they are drier when they come out, wring them into knots... So now the pizza is slinging grease/oil all over the floor and water is leaking out from the bottom as well to make a perfect conglomeration of ** all over my tile. There is always more than one way to take care of the employees, hire sales people full of **, and technicians who know what the hell to do to fix it, with previous full of ** sales experience so consumers can buy more Whirlpool parts...
I bought this washer because we are a family of 6 that washed a lot of laundry. I bought the extended warranty from Lowes but not sure if this thing can even be fixed. The guy has been out twice. Replaced the control panel. I cannot wash more than 3 towels or it comes unbalanced and goes crazy. I need this fixed. I am so irritated. A recall needs to happen.
I purchased the Whirlpool Cabrio Washer thinking I was purchasing a quality product. Unfortunately it was one of the worst decision my wife and I have made. The bearings (lower) only last about 2 years. We purchased the extended warranty and the first time it was covered. The second set were not covered and now we will have to change them again. We will not ever purchase another Whirlpool product. I contacted them several times with no positive results. I still saved the last worn out bearings to show the CEO. The engineers do not have a very good idea to make the lower bearing last. Where I purchased the machine they told me after the first change that it would happen again and they were correct. If anyone needs to contact me about this product feel free. NEVER EVER BUY A WHIRLPOOL PRODUCT.
Bought this machine in July 2015 to replace LG front loader that went bad. This machine is the worst at rinsing the soap out of dark clothes, and probably the whites and lights too! Dark clothes always have white streaks and spots all over them. Called Customer Service and was told it was due to too much soap, the way the clothes were loaded, needed to add an extra rinse cycle to load, and/or because there is a water softener in the home. Have changed soaps 3x, changed the way I was loading the clothes, and I doubt the water softener has anything to do with this problem. I dont see how adding an extra cycle is efficient and seems wasteful. This machine is horrible and whether I just got a lemon or if its a defect in this machine, I dont know. Whirlpool doesnt seem to care either. I am going to attempt to sell this one and will not consider Whirlpool for the next one. Do not buy this machine!!
I purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio and a one year extended warranty two years ago. As soon as my warranty ended, my washer started to malfunction. I recently started to receive the F-51 code and the washer shuts down at the spin cycle. I am angry because I spent just under 1200 dollars on a washer a little bit over two years ago and now, it is sitting in my laundry room taking up space. When I called Whirlpool, they told me I could purchase another repair warranty for $316.94, which would take the cost over 1500 dollars for this washer and there was no empathy nor compassion for what I was feeling as a consumer from the customer service rep. I spent my hard-earned money on major appliance purchase and I think that it is only fair that I get more than a two year usage out of machine that was designed to last at least six years according to their website. There is no way that this should just be my lost and cost me additional funds.
I bought at Lowes. The first one was sent back (doors stuck, suction cracked lining). Now the temps are not working in the fridge or freezer. All the food got dumped. Its sad. My old one lasted closer to 25 yrs. (and may I add up to ten children). This one has only been used by adults. I thought I could trust Whirlpool?! I sent info to local Lowes. We will see if theres any help.
The dryer is okay but the washer is no good. Doesnt save water because clothes have to be washed twice. Sometimes thrice to get them clean. Cycles are longer therefore more energy used. More water, more time, more energy. Terrible design. Useless piece of junk.
Appliance repairman is coming tomorrow. Washer is less than 2 years old and will stop mid-cycle more than once (I re-start it)... At first when I thought the cycle was done I would get ready to move the clothes to the dryer and realize they were all soapy and sometimes they were just massively soaked so something is not working right. Sensor?? Hopefully not the computer panel as that will be too expensive to repair.
Whirpool has its main washers, then the off brand of Whirlpool. After using the washer after a few months the balance starts to get off balance. Trying to find parts and get them put in is easy, hard part is replacing them after they wear off after use a few months.
My washer is nearly 7 yrs. old. It has almost been a full-time spectator sport. Good thing its in the kitchen! Twists sheets so badly - on sheets setting - that it stops and I must undo the balloon its formed and rearrange the wet, heavy 2 sheets and 2 pillow cases. Now, it cant even finish the clean washer cycle without stopping. It seems it doesnt use enough water to do the job of washing items thoroughly. And it balks at heavy loads - which is what we bought this washer to do - blankets, rugs, quilts, etc. Two people, now only one, and two small dogs. I should have at least 10 years of service from that purchase. Repairman says $300+, and he sees it as a very common code. Build them to last or give up. Im disgusted with Whirlpool now.
Never ever go for Whirlpool. It has the worst customer service. We brought an oven but accidentally we broke the inner oven plate. We called up the customer care person on 18002081800 and tried asking him the dimensions of the plate pr at least how we could reorder it. He never listened to us. He just got our details. Said that technician will come at 11am tomorrow and disconnected the call when we were trying to explain what our query is all about. Is that all the respect a customer deserves!? Is that how whirlpool trains their service people!? He doesnt even have the basic courtesy to listen to the customer, I wonder how was he even recruited as a customer care person. If you want at least your basic respect, please DONT BUY WHIRLPOOL.
WTW6340WW0 - When washing clothes, on the last spin it stops and gives an UL error message. I make sure all the clothes are level and restart at that point but still the UL error message appears and water starts leaking from the underneath of the machine. Weve reset the and unplug the machine but no difference. Please help on what else to do.
Purchased Black Ice French Door refrigerator in December 6, 2012. Used warranty first year due to loud noise & replaced whole back panel in top part. They seemed to know it was a design flaw. Thought all would be well. Purchased extended warranty for second year and did not need so did not extend again. Now it has been 2 years and 7 months and the ice maker had to be shut off due to water running down outside. The refrigerator is no longer cold enough--60 Degrees (too warm) and freezer door would not close all the way (had to duct tape it shut). I certainly expected it to last longer than that for a $2300 fridge. The old Kenmore was 15 years old and still worked. After reading all these reviews it is time for a class action lawsuit! We have to buy another now but it wont be Whirlpool!
I purchased a Whirlpool hot water heater 2010 and it started having problems 2014. I called customer service. They informed me my 6 year warranty was only for parts and I had to pay for a certified repairman to come and do diagnostic tests and they will pay for parts only. I said the repairman is half the price as the hot water heater and then he has to come install it. Woman on the phone was just as ready to get off the phone as I was! Save yourself and just buy a new one NOT WHIRLPOOL!!!!!!
