I bought the #1 rated Consumer Reports recommended Whirlpool Gold fridge 15 months ago (how convenient their warranty stops at 12 months). The control board has already gone out, lots of ruined food and ruined perception that Whirlpool made good products. I will avoid buying anything they make again. When repairman was taking it apart, I saw Made in China stickers.

WTW8800YWO Whirlpool Cabrio washer, 4 yrs old! Replaced!!! Its a poor quality washer -- the bearings go out. I purchased this washer and matching dryer at Lowes following a house fire. I initially thought the water saver was a good feature. Unfortunately, my clothes were not clean and were covered with lint following each wash. I have had to replace the ring inside the washer due to shifting and causing water damage to the new flooring. I soon became disappointed with my purchase, but until the noise became so loud in the spin cycle and the repair exceeded the initial costs, I kept the washer. I am another consumer who would NEVER purchase nor recommend a Whirlpool W/D. The repairman said, If you want a washer built to last, buy a Speed Queen!

The American Standard 95% 2 stage variable furnace is by far my favorite furnace to install. I know exactly what to expect from this furnace and I have had zero factory issues with this model. Outside of making a few sheet metal transitions this American Standard standard 95% furnace was very easy to install as well. And like the 2 stage variable … no factory issues.

I purchased a Whirlpool water heater and after working fine for about 2 1/2 years, I began having problems with it staying lit. I dealt with troubleshooting beginning in January of 2012 and finally in March of 2012, I was sent some replacement parts. The unit worked fine through the summer and once the weather started getting cold in October of 2012, I began to have problems with the unit again. After a couple of months complaining and threatening to file a BBB complaint, I was sent all of the parts left to change on the water heater. And I was told after the parts were changed if the unit still did not work, that it was probably a venting issue and that I would be responsible for that issue and the unit was not defective. I received the parts on 12/04/12 and they were changed out the same day. Now the unit will light when I hold down the button to light it but once I let go, the pilot light goes out. At least before changing out the parts, the unit was able to be turned on and sometimes it would work and other times it didnt, but now it will not light at all. This is very frustrating because the unit is under warranty and Whirlpool has for an entire year fought me tooth and nail just to send me the parts for the unit, only for the unit to still not work. I have a family and it is discouraging to not know when you are going to have hot water, having to constantly fix the unit or to call Whirlpool to troubleshoot and finally for the unit to still not work after replacing the parts. It looks like I will not have any hot water at all now.

We purchased a Whirlpool Overhead microwave and Quiet Dishwasher in May of 2017. Within the first year, the microwave needed new sensors installed. The repair person said this was a design flaw and he was getting many calls. Then at 13 months, the dishwasher wouldnt drain. The repair person fixed the problem and left reset directions because this can commonly happen. Now at 18 months later, the drainage problem wont resolve even with the reset. Whirlpool extended the warranty by 6 months but wont cover this repair. Two appliances, two problems. Dont buy Whirlpool.

The Cabrio top load washing machine is a piece of junk, an expensive piece of junk. The only way someone could give this machine a good review is if they work for Whirlpool or they think beating clothes up against a rock in the filthy Ganges River makes them clean. We purchased the HE top loader because we were told that all the problems of the front loaders had been worked out in the new top loaders. What a joke. At least the front loader I had, cleaned the clothes. Since we got the glass top model, I made a movie that shows several items of clothes just sitting on top, not getting wet, not getting moved around, not getting rinsed; therefore, not getting clean. After the wash cycle spins down, the clothes are pinned up against the side and the rinse barely touches them before its final spin. We have several items that had stains left from the soap - yes, we used HE soap, Im not stupid. Never again will I waste my money on a Whirlpool product or anything from Best Buy.

Initially felt the burners and oven took a LONG time to heat up, but just accepted it. After a year and a half, the motherboard died. The part alone was almost $400 and labor $100. The self clean does not work very well. Glass top is very hard to clean. It has a large oven space and looks nice, but would avoid Whirlpool at all costs following this experience.

I owned a Kenmore washer for approx. 20 yrs that endured 6 kids for most of that time period. When time came for a new one, I had to have the latest model, and settled on a Maytag Bravos approx 3 yrs ago. This was a huge mistake - I paid between 600-800 for this machine, and it is a piece of garbage. The repairmen here yesterday explained to me that Maytag and Whirlpool are now the same company, and also that all these machines are now made overseas because of cheap labor. In a nutshell, I was given an estimate of at least 300 to repair this piece of crap - he explained that they are only made to last a few yrs -where is the justice in this situation? I really dont get how these big companies get away with selling crap, knowing all the while that the consumer is getting screwed - yet people continue to buy them..

It is my belief that through my experience that most Gas Range manufacturers mainly Whirlpool corporation purposely designs the stove igniter part to fail in 5-10 years. They do this in hope the consumer will purchase a new stove. The igniter in my stove has failed 6 times since I purchased it in 2005. I have had to replace it at my expense each time. The last time it failed, I asked Whirlpool if they would do a good faith gesture and replace it. They very rudely refused. I will never purchase another Whirlpool appliance again and encourage others to follow me. If they give me this much grief over a simple good faith gesture, I can only imagine the difficulties in getting them to honor a warranty claim!

I would not give this any stars! I purchased a Whirlpool gas range (model #WFG371LVB1) just 2 years ago at Lowe’s. The oven heats up to 475 no matter what temperature it is set at. The Whirlpool authorized service agent said it needed a control board which would cost $650 to install. The repair company found one for less--only $300. After reading all of the other complaints about these ranges, weve decided not to repair it and will probably have to replace it soon. We have been Whirlpool customers for years and will not purchase another Whirlpool product. There should be a recall on any of their products that have these continual problems. The oven cannot be safely used for normal baking.

Bought a home with a Whirlpool WRF540CWBM01 french door refrigerator circa Oct 2016. The unit stopped freezing/cooling and the appliance guy replaced a relay and this did not help. I called Whirlpool to check on the warranty, only 1 year. Then, I called the extended warranty and they wanted $342 for 1 year and $567 for 3 year but wanted 60 days before this would go into effect. Hmm, wait 2 months w/out a working fridge, great idea. So, after 2 short years the compressor failed and nobody will attempt this job and cost is too high. Had to buy a new GE fridge w/ a 5-year parts/labor covering this type of issue. Whirlpool needs to fix these issues. Very disappointed.

After 6 years, Our $2500 Whirlpool refrigerator stopped cooling and would not dispense ice. Since we had purchased a Whirlpool extended warranty, a Whirlpool authorized technician replaced the compressor and informed Whirlpool it also required a new door that included an ice dispenser. A door was not available so Whirlpool refused additional repair and refunded the $400 purchase price of the warranty. Meanwhile the refrigerator stopped cooling again and Whirlpool refused any additional obligation. The refrigerator was now non-functional and we had to spend $3500 to get a comparable refrigerator. The moral: 1) Whirlpool makes very expensive refrigerators that have about 30% of the life-span compared to earlier vintage refrigerators. 2) They know this and will promptly refuse to warrant their product if it is to their benefit. Shame on you Whirlpool for using your corporate leverage and shady business practices to manipulate your customers.

Buyer beware. There was a class action lawsuit filed for our Whirlpool dishwasher some years ago. The control panel shorted and or overheated on ours in February of 2021, causing it to emit white plastic smelling smoke. (Glad we were home when we ran it.) I opened the door to turn it off and it continued to run, smoke and spray water all over the kitchen. Called Fire Department. Filed a complaint with Whirlpool. They sent a repair person to inspect and take photos. Its been 6 weeks and still have not received a call from them. I bought a Frigidaire. It is made by Electrolux. FYI, Kenmore is also made by Whirlpool.

Other numbers have started to fail as well... Also it needs cleaning but a neighbor with the same model said whatever you do dont use the self clean for the oven, as they did & it literally burnt out the control panel costing them over $400!! Say what?? So we cant use the self-clean feature or well really fry the control board... Would LOVE to hear Whirlpools explanation on this one... My 2 year Jennaire (made by Whirlpool) broke down on 12/14/11. Repairman came out on 12/19. He said that the compressor was not working and ordered another and he came out again on 12/22. He said that it could not be fixed (internal leak or something). An aside to this story was that a tank of compressed oil blew and damaged my hallway and kitchen walls and floors and 2 rugs. That was being handled by the repairmans insurance company. We called Whirlpool and they said that they we could pick out a new refrigerator priced at no more than $2399 even though we paid $2799 for the Jennaire and would have to pay the difference for a model costing more. We went with a Maytag (Whirlpool product) that listed for $2899 but was available at 2 local stores for $2050 and $2100 but I had to give Whirlpool anther $500 because they use the MRP.They finally delivered it on 1/5/12 but would not leave it because no one disconnected the water line to the appliance and they would not touch it. It took me 20 seconds to do it and if they would have told me so it would have been done on the 5th. Rescheduled delivery for 1/8/12 and the unit was delivered damaged (large dent in front) and they would not temporarily leave it until a replacement came.I called Whirlpool again and asked them to just call a local Home Depot or anyone in my area (all had the unit in stock) to deliver one but they told me that it must come from the warehouse in Michigan (I live in PA) and that it would be yet another 5 to 10 business days to receive it. So, I am paying $700 more for a unit that I could have bought and had delivered before Christmas not to mention the inconvenience of no unit for a month. Not to mention the damage to my home, $200+ dollars in thrown away food, time to shop for new unit, time for 2 repairman appointments and time for the 2 deliveries thus far and countless phone calls to Whirlpool to get the new unit.Today is 1/10/12, so I guess Ill have by month end if there are no other problems, you would think that they would try to expedite this just because its been so long or give us a substantial credit for all the trouble. Never again Whirlpool.

Days and days without hot water. About 6 months later, pilot failed to stay lit. Landlords maintenance man called Whirlpools Customer Service. They had him jump through hoops and finally told him to press a white reset button on the igniter. Okay, that worked. A few days later, pilot went out again, white button was reset, working again. Recently, and more frequent now, white igniter button keeps popping out, and we keep resetting it and relighting the heater, repeatedly, 4 times in one day.Maintenance man comes and calls Whirlpool Customer Service. They advise him to check this and check that. Everything seems to be in order. They say they will send out a qualified service person to diagnose a potential problem, a charge of $200.00. Maintenance man and landlord say, No thanks. Maintenance man goes to Lowes to buy a different brand model. Guess what? Envirotemp Hot Water Heaters have the same control device as the failing Whirlpool. He reboxed it and took it back and said, No thanks. Ill try to upload the images of the water heaters and controller you should stay away from purchasing. Meanwhile, maintenance man went to Menards and purchased a Richmond model, a well known, and reliable water heater manufacturer.

Purchased this beautiful sleek Cabrio washer in May 2012 from Appliance Smart, with its modern looking glass top, it looked so nice. The washer itself works ok for now, but it does unbalance a lot, thats not main issue. We deal with that. The poor design of holding that sleek glass top in is the problem. After a little over two years, it started cracking at the hinge that is just mounted in Plastic which holds the whole lid down, including the heavy glass. The glass started raising up, causing steam to escape. The lid is rubbing and very difficult to open. Appliance Smart is gone now.. We called the service repair person about 6 months ago, he looked at it, said its a problem that is not covered on our warranty and it would be approx $350.00 to repair!! So today, tomorrow or next week it will stop working because the lid is popping off! Its a terrible design, dont be fooled by its sleek look. The manufacturer takes no responsibility for this major design flaw. Beware, the very thing you need to be fixed wont be covered under warranty, lemon law, or just good customer service. We have owned several Whirlpool appliances and doubt that we will own one again, due to the way this issue was handled by Whirlpool.

I purchased and had professionals install a Whirlpool 30-gallon water heater in 2007. Since that time I have had issues with the unit not staying lite, but have been able to deal with it myself. Then in November 2011, it wouldnt work. After paying a plumber to come out and check everything, we got on the phone with Whirlpool who goes through their generic checklist, and after all that they agreed the control was no good. They sent a replacement part out at which time I had to pay to have put in. Now, March 2012, the same thing is going on with the unit. Customer service is their same polite self and have to go through their checklist, but unfortunately we were cut off. This was followed by calls and trying to get the same operator, who was supposed to call me back. It didnt happen. I then called and was hung up on. Finally, I had to work with another operator who again wanted to go through her checklist! She finally agreed the same control unit must be bad and is sending me a new one so I can pay to have it installed! They will not admit the unit is bad and replace it completely. I guess when buying Whirlpool you need to understand they dont back their products. It appears to be normal that a control unit from Whirlpool only has a life expectancy of 3 or 4 months. The refrigerator fits perfect in my space, keeps frozen (ice cream is creamy not a frozen block ) and cooled foods well. I love the glass shelves. I purchased 2 more bins for the refrigerator door, now I can get all my spices and condiments on the door as well as lots of other things. The freezer has racks instead of glass shelves. The top shelf is adjustable, that is nice in order to use more space. I love the ice and water on the outside of the door.

I have a double door refrigerator with a bottom freezer. It is slightly over 2 years old and has been in use for only 7 months of that time. We just got off the phone with Whirlpool service. They will cover the cost of the control panel and defrost control. The other one I paid to replace was only one month old and it failed again. In the time between that I had to have an Icing kit put in as the Ice maker was causing ice to form inside the back wall of the refrigerator. My first call to Whirlpool was very unsatisfactory. I ended up paying for the part and the service call. The second call was about the ice-maker and they were aware of the problem and sent me a repair kit for the problem. I still had to pay for repair service. So far I have paid $561.62 for their defective parts and service calls. This time my wife called (while I was taking my frozen foods to my neighbors freezer for the second time) and went through 3 people before being told the part was still under warranty and they will send a new one. When we pushed for proper service we got it. We should never have had to go through all this. We also lost over $300.00 of frozen foods. Never buy a Whirlpool refrigerator!!!

We have just built a new home and have spent a ton of money on appliances. I so wish I had looked up the reviews on this Whirlpool Cabrio Washer before we bought it. It makes a very loud annoying sound through at least a third of the cycle (which I was just told by Whirlpool is the normal agitating sound). We have also had to have service out here twice in the first few months because some of the clothes come out dirty in areas that were folded over because of lack of water even on the high water setting. It also, ripped my favorite white blouse right in half. Trust me DONT buy it, you will be sorry.

We purchased 2 Whirlpool Cabrio washing machines in 2011. Both required service calls in June 2015. After 3.5 years, the repair company diagnosed that the Whirlpool Cabrio model number WTW7800XW2 bearing needed to be replaced for an estimated $650.00 and recommended that we purchase a new machine. The other machine was spewing water out of the side of the machine. The repair person took the machine apart and could not duplicate the problem.

We purchased a brand new Cabrio Washer and Dryer in 2008 from Lowes. The salesman at the time suggested I purchase the extended warranty. It was because of the state of the art controls in the machines that could cost plenty if they had to be replaced. I was a bit skeptical at first. After several weeks, I returned to the store and purchased a 4-year extended warranty. This was probably the best money I expended in some time. In less than three years of ownership, I have had to use the warranty twice for the same faulty part (water control valve) that the repairperson told me was problematic. Then after reading the horror stories that consumers submitted to this website, I felt compelled to voice my opinion as well. I have been a die hard Whirpool product fan my entire life because they used to manufacture quality, long lasting products. I am moving soon. And I will have to purchase new appliances for the kitchen. But they will not be manufactured by any Whirlpool company. Shame on you Whirlpool!

This is Whirlpool model MVWP835DC2. I bought brand new. Recently used about once a week. Got an alarm that indicated no communication to core unit. Talked to Whirlpool service and unit is out of warranty (20 months) and advised I should use authorized service company to come and diagnose. This took 2 weeks. Service man came, washer did not power up. He quoted that repairs would be $750 and not worth it, buy a new one. I went on internet and found YouTube videos that showed how to diagnose and fix. I called Whirlpool for new console, $350 and one month. Went to parts house and got part for $250. This fixed problem.I have a few problems with this machine and company. 1) This now turns out to be a known problem with these machines. The console fails. I am not sure how this is going to last 30 years. 2) Service man took nothing apart and could not diagnose problem with no power. He quoted $350 for the console and the balance for the core. He was guessing or pulling a scam. Take your choice.3) Part not available from Whirlpool because so many are failing. Thanks for making a great product.

I purchased a side-by-side Whirlpool refrigerator less than three years ago, but about a year ago we discovered it was leaking from the freezer thats located on the bottom. Initially we thought that if we simply defrosted the sheet of ice that formed on the bottom of the freezer - it would stop the leaking. Its hard to keep up with - I checked into it on the Internet and discovered that there is a clogged drain hole that is causing the leaking.Apparently, a number of people are experiencing the same thing. I called Whirlpool (since our local repairman suggested we contact them because this is a chronic problem and is likely to happen again). The customer service person kept pushing me to buy the extended warranty with their repair that will cost nearly $400!!! Without it - it will cost nearly $200 that doesnt include any parts. Its a new refrigerator, very bad quality and theres damage to our kitchen floor, and then Whirlpool wants me to pay $400 to repair the mess they made! VERY UPSET...

Purchased heavy duty dual steam washer and dryer in 2008. Recently got some error codes that we could not fix. Had one service company come in and they could not figure it out. Had a certified Whirlpool company come in and they could not figure it out. They called Whirlpool technicians and they were even unsure of what is wrong. Said they could keep ordering parts and trying them to fix the problem. And of course I would be responsible for the parts. And no guarantee it would be solve the problem. Called Whirlpool direct, to no satisfaction. They said they could send the same company out and have them call the tech line while on site and try to troubleshoot the problem. However, would have to wait another 3 days to get him out. Been a week without washer. I have had washers bought previously last over 10 years without any problems. If these machines are breaking or control boards are going out after about 4 years, then Whirlpool has a bigger problem. Whirlpool supervisor was only offering to maybe a discount on the parts needed, without even knowing if they could fix the problem. Seems to me like they really dont care. Very dissatisfied, will definitely not recommend this product to anyone. And if it ever gets fixed, I am going to sell them immediately.

This company should be avoided at all costs. Purchased 2 Whirlpool dishwashers in 2018 and in less than 2 year the top dish rack glide rail front wheel broke off causing the rack to drop down and render the dishwasher unusable. Warranty was one year and I went online only to notice that the OEM factory replacement part(s) are now made out of stainless steel (or aluminum). I also noted that the parts were made prior to 2015 (date on the video and other vendor sites) Which is a good 2 years prior to my purchasing of this product. This means that they obviously knew there was an issue but continued to produce and sell them with known faulty parts well after they realized at least 2 plus years when you consider that they would have had to re-tool, redesign and send to production prior to the product release date.So it looks like they have continued to sell the product knowing fully well they were defective and did so just to sell replacement parts or to use up existing parts inventory. Either way this means this company has no scruples and does not stand behind their product. Another stain on the reputation of products made in China! Shame on you Whirlpool!

After paying about $100 for a service call, we were told we need to order a motor control board that will cost an additional $397 plus tax, plus installation. Because it is off warranty, this means my $1030 washing machine that is less than two years old will cost me about $680 to repair! My parents old top loading washing machine still works after 30 years. And now I notice that so many other people have had the exact same problem. Why hasnt Whirlpool fixed this issue? Got told no they have no problems with it. Found out later not only do they have this problem with it they change design because of it. Repairman said his own daughter had same problem and he had many service calls on this model all with same problem. WHIRLPOOL WILL NOT REPAIR OR REPLACE PRODUCT WHICH IS A MANUFACTURE DEFAULT. I purchased a Whirlpool dishwasher and refrigerator/freezer from Home Depot. Within weeks the stainless steel on both products began rusting. They sent a third party repair service to look at both products and determined that, in fact, the stainless steel was rusting. Our technician said that both the dishwasher panes and the freezer doors would be ordered and replaced the following week. This was on September 4, 2015. After several promised arrival dates, the parts never arrived. I called both the third party repair company and Whirlpool on several occasions only to be told they were on back order. Finally, in late November, the new dishwasher panel arrived and was installed. It is now December 17, 2015 and our freezer door is still on back order. When asked what my options are, the Whirlpool representative simply said we have to wait. I said that because I have been so terribly inconvenienced that they should just come and pick up this piece of junk and replace it with a new one. Evidently, that is not an option. I will NEVER purchase a Whirlpool product again as they do not back their warranty. I now have a $2,000 rusted refrigerator freezer to adorn our beautiful Christmas kitchen. Thanks, Whirlpool. Youve certainly made this a Merry Christmas. (Yes, sarcasm in play.)

My elderly mother purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine in 2013 (Model Number WTW8600YW1). It never filled properly with water. It evolved to a sensor and circuit board issue that Whirlpool never totally remedied. Hence, the machine never worked properly. This 800 dollar purchase on an elderly persons limited budget had to be utilized minimally. Now fast forward in 2015, even with minimal usage and white glove handling, the machine is displaying an F51 error. You guessed it, Whirlpool will not remedy the issue, although it is well-documented to be a widespread complaint hence clearly a product defect. Shame on Whirlpool, their business practices, and what amounts to theft of an elderly womans finite income. This was the first new appliance that I had actually ever had and I purchased it in October of 2010. After four months, it started make a grinding sound. I called Whirlpool and the repair man replaced the motor. Approximately four months after that, the lid got stuck and the machine would not respond. Same routine as before, but this time the transmission was replaced. While the machine was apart, I noticed the white insulating panel from the bottom was brown in a spot and looked as if it had gotten hot. A month before the 1 year warranty expired, the washer started making an intermittent grinding sound nearly identical to the sound made when the motor went out. This time a different service company was sent out my Whirlpool and the said that nothing was wrong. Now, the machine is out of warranty and has stopped cleaning close and during the spin cycle the you can hear water running into the machine constantly. Last months water bill shows a 40% increase in water consumption when nothing has changed to incur a larger bill. Seeing all these comments makes me wonder why the heck nothing is being done to force recalls on such poor products. Consumers should be treated with a lot more respect than this. I will never recommend a Whirlpool product to anyone I meet. In fact, I will strongly discourage anyone who is contemplating buying a Whirlpool washer machine.

Called another repairman to hear same thing. We were also told this problem is so common with this model. Called Whirlpool. They sent a repairman out. Said same thing first two said. They are paying for parts but not labor. We were told by last repairman that this refrigerator hasnt worked from day one. Passed info to Whirlpool and no comment. We paid a lot of money for an upgraded refrigerator to have it quit in 2 years. Totally not acceptable. On top of this the parts may not work for more than 2 years again. Okay Whirlpool who is going to pay for all the ice & dry ice, the other two repairmen that came. The repairman you sent was double the price of other 2 & will not come back till we pay. Called Whirlpool customer care for help with identifying make and model number of a slide-in, ceramic cook-top range (one of their popular brands). The representative was cordial, patient and very helpful when it came to giving me directions on how to locate make/model information on the unit. That was until I let her know about a recent problem with the stove. The edge of the cooktop is much too sharp! My hand got cut while wiping down the stove top/adjacent counter. Although Ive had the stove for a while, Id never had that happen before; thats probably because I used a thin rag this time around to do the cleaning. I asked the rep if anyone else had reported getting cut by the stove top. She said, No. I let her know that my goal was to just them know about the situation, because such a sharp edge on a cooktop is a safety issue. She disagreed. But what could or should she have said? In all fairness, it came down to balancing loyalty to the company with genuine care for the customer.I do appreciate how kind she was in communicating with me, but am very displeased that once Id shared about the problem she seemed rather dismissive of the situation. How could the risk of being cut NOT be a product safety issue??? If you visit the Consumer Products Safety Commission website, you can see where risk of laceration is a reason some products are recalled. Based on that understanding, I would say that sharp edges on a ceramic cooktop IS a safety issue!

Got the dreaded 4 flashes LED status - High Temperature Shutdown. Online and vendor documentation says that this condition requires gas valve unit replacement, a $115 option. If your Pilot remains burning, but main burner does not kick in, then a good guess is the circuit board requires a reset. Prior to any further work, test the Thermopile, that is the round item with two blades located below and to the right of the gas valve unit. Move knob on control panel to OFF1) Pull out plug with red and white wires located on front of gas control. 2) Have someone Hold in the control knob on the unit at Pilot, and make sure Pilot flame is burning. 3) Using a multi-meter, set it to millivolt reading, and test voltage across the two wires. Voltage should be greater than 350mV, preferably >500mV. 4) If you get a reading in that range, your Thermopile is good. Turn knob to off position. Do NOT uncouple gas lines. 5) Piezo Igniter wire comes apart, disconnect it. 6) Remove screw that holds front cover. (screw located bottom left as you look at the unit) 7)Cover simply pulls off directly towards you. 8)Remove the screw holding the circuit board to the cover, and remove circuit board by unclipping it - 3 clips, one either side and one at bottom. 9) Unplug the 3 strand thermostat cable, you should now have the circuit board clear. 10) Take a piece of aluminum foil, fold it twice, then lay circuit board on it facing up, do it on top of tank, want it grounded. 11)Using one of the multimeter probes, wrap a piece of foil around it, keeping point free, and ground it too. Then slowly work around the board, touching all the solder connections you see, as well as the chip legs. Pay particular attention to the round objects on the board (capacitors), make sure to ground out each of the solder points, visible either side. (takes about 5- 8 minutes, take your time) 12) Once done, reconnect thermostat cable to board, then reinstall board into cover (dont forget the screw)13) Place cover back into place, screw in cover screw, reattach Piezo wire and black electrical plug with thermopile wires. 14) set Knob to Pilot, get pilot lit (may take a few hits on the Piezo button) and while still holding the knob in, watch to see what LED flashes you get (there will be a 10 second time lapse before it will start to flash) 15) You should either get 1 flash or 7 flashes, that means the board is reset, now turn knob to warm, and see if main burner kicks in. Good luck, and for a half hours work you have saved yourself $$$. PS: If it occurs again, you have sediment build up, need to drain the tank.

Im a person who works so every time my fridge breaks down I have to take time off from work to wait around on a tech. I just called Whirlpool to see if they can switch my fridge out and they said NO! All they can offer me is a $50 check and have a different company come out and check my fridge. Im SO UPSET AND DISAPPOINTED! I remember when I was a little girl my parents and grandparents would talk about how good Whirlpool was and I was so excited when I moved into my first brand new house 6 months ago. It had all brand new Whirlpool appliances but now I think they are a piece of crap because to top it all off my microwave broke down 3 months after I moved in and I waited over a month from the time I reported it to have the tech come out and replace it. I dont recommend ANYONE buy this brand!

Our Whirlpool refrigerator, model MODGI5FSAXVYO, began leaking water from the freezer onto the floor about 3 months ago. We purchased the unit in January 2011. We had to keep a towel on the floor to absorb the moisture. Our troubles began after the freezer door was left ajar and the interior became quite frosty. We had turned off the freezer several times to defrost but nothing helped until this morning when I read the comments of Marea of McClellanville, SC and Ruth of Vavenby, BC.I then decided to begin exploring taking apart everything until I reached the freezer unit in the back of the freezer. I discovered a lot of ice with the ice blocking the drain hole which is supposed to drain condensation from the freezer fins to a drain pan in back of the freezer. Apparently, leaving the freezer door ajar caused the drain hole and surrounding area to ice up. Condensation from the fins would keep dripping until it overflowed onto the bottom of the freezer until it filled up with ice. The water then had nowhere to go but out of the freezer onto the floor. The simple solution to this problem is to turn off the fridge, empty out the freezer and allow the frozen drain hole to thaw out. You can easily remove the back panel of the refrigerator to see if water is then draining into the drain pain. Good Luck! Ed

Whirlpool washing machine was not a good buy at all specially after using it and seeing that over the years I had to incur high costs of maintenance. Over the months and years of buying Whirlpool front load washing machine, I had to replace motor twice, digital display twice, motherboard twice THAT TOO at a very high price every time something broke. This time the angle that supports the drum broke and Whirlpool says drum needs to be replaced. HOWEVER, after waiting a month company says DRUM IS UNAVAILABLE. Which means my machine has become absolutely useless just because Whirlpool does not have the spare. Whirlpool has a ridiculous track record with poor service and poor product quality. Manufacturing in one country and selling it in another WITHOUT SPARES is defective and poor service, totally unreliable. Wouldnt recommend Whirlpool to anyone.

In April of 2009, I bought a Whirlpool over the range microwave, model # MH2175XSB-5. In September 2011, a small piece of the door fell off at the hinge. Pieces have continuously fallen off and now the door is splitting, rendering the item useless. It was purchased at Lowes and I had them installed the item. Two years of service plus installation come to big bucks for a piece of trash.

The Whirlpool Quiet Partner II is a horrible dishwasher and should have never made it to a store to be sold. We have had the dishwasher for 4 years and about 6 months ago it started shutting off minutes after it was started. We would have to press the Cancel Button and try it again several more times prior to it finally completing the wash. After contacting our home warranty for help the tech said it is not worth fixing and will only give us a SMALL amount towards a new dishwasher.

Purchased my Whirlpool gas hot water heater. After 1 1/2 yrs, the blinking light shut off, called tech at Whirlpool, made me move hot water heater to outside. I moved it outside and when called back, I was then told to send 4 photos to prove that I moved it, in which I did that. He told me that still was not right... and still he would not help with reset. I live in my parents old home w/ water heater in bathroom for 50 yrs. No problem... it was vented thru ceiling to attic. Now it is outside, unlit, in a steel hub (as directed) and still not ok...I have no hot water and have not for 4 weeks now... Whirlpool sucks... never buy their hot water heaters. Had to pay a serviceman $750 to move heater, run cold/hot water lines and gas line and it still does not work... with NO HELP from Whirlpool. Now I am in process of buying an electric hot water heater and have to pay an electrician to run a 220... I am on fixed income and this stinks... biggest regret... WHIRLPOOL.

GB2SHDXTS02 - Bought the Unit and an additional 4 yr protection plan. Shortly after the plan expired the plastic drip pan cracked and spilled water all over the laminate floor. It is still bucked from the water. Repairman came out and confirmed the crack, but we were without the refrig for a couple of weeks. Now the top doesnt cool, but the freezer does. Problem probably the defrost system, the fan, the control assy, or the thermistor, but I am too old to fix it myself. My fault for not checking ratings before I bought, but built in obsolescence is obvious here. Whirlpool used to be a good company, but I will never or will my family ever buy another appliance from them.

Always buy an extended warranty if you are going to buy a washing machine.
Always buy an extended warranty if you are going to buy a washing machine. Mine cost $129.00 extra and it is not through Whirlpool. Three control panels and two tub bearings later, the extended warranty insurance carrier gave us our money back to buy another machine. My wife loves the operation of the Cabrio, so we bought a WTW8200YW today, in the false hope that it will work much better. We have an extra washing machine in the garage for the three week period before repairs. The serviceman has to come look to verify the problem, then come back when the part arrives.

One year to the day after the warranty expired, the meat drawer in the refrigerator began filling with water. Two repairmen have been to my home and cannot repair it due to a design flaw. Also, I had to pay for a cracked bottom tray that happened during delivery which I didnt know occurred at the time. Whirlpool is now ignoring my phone calls and emails. We paid in excess of $800 last year. What am I going to do now? Buy another refrigerator and get rid of this one? I dont make that kind of money and I feel Whirlpool should stand behind their products. This model is not even on the recall list so that means to me that other consumers buying this model are getting ripped off also. The customer service people say sorry but wont budge on reimbursement. I was told they cannot honor my request. Whether this was under warranty or not, it still cannot be fixed according to the repair tech that was at my home. I need to find someone to help me before this lemon I bought decides to burst into flames. I want a replacement refrigerator, not this model of course, of equal value. I am not asking for the moon, just for something that works beyond one year. In this economy, we cant afford to buy a major appliance after one year. My car is still running and I bought that in 1985. Please find someone to help me. I thank you for your time.

My Whirlpool Cabrio Washer is less than one year old and quit working. Sears was supposed to come out and fix it (I even have the extended warranty till 2014). Service never showed up; when we called, they told us we had been rescheduled. Here it is the rescheduled day time slot and they still have not arrived. Im getting the runaround from them and I am supposed to be grateful because they gave me a $75 gift card for my inconvenience. Im on hold with Whirlpool because I just want them to take the washer back. I have been told by Sears since it is over 90 days, they cannot refund my money. I just have to wait for a repair which may or may not happen since they may not have the parts. This is unsatisfactory service from both Sears and Whirlpool. I have always bought my appliances through Sears and they have always been Whirlpool. I wish I would have read all these reviews before I purchased this model.

We purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator on October 18, ‘11 in Viveks at Tambaram. Next day itself, 19th of October, 11, the door lock of the fridge is not working and the defrost light is also not working. Immediately we logged a complaint in Whirlpool customer care, which is in Chennai (mothers care). The engineer came and he removed the lock and he said, “Its a new model lock, we dont have any spare. We will raise an incident to Whirlpool and will replace with a week.” But almost one month over, today is the 21st of November, ‘11. We called the customer care office more than 10 times in this period, but we are not getting any response from them. Today, I spoke to one of the executive in the customer care Mr. R. and asked about the status. But he said we dont have that lock and he asked me the copy of the purchased bill of the refrigerator for replacing the unit. Really, its very poor customer service and I’m very much disappointed with Whirlpools product. We used Kelvinator for more than 11 years and we never had any problem. But with this Whirlpool product, within 2 days we faced these problems. Cooling coming out through the lock hole in the door of the refrigerator. Electricity consumption is more. No defrost happens automatically so far. Almost, it seems that the refrigerator may go down to critical condition. Request your intervention to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

Its a piece of junk. The only time it will finish a wash and spin dry is when it is empty. Otherwise, it stops and lists an unbalanced error code. I opened up the service panels and found no broken hangers or clothes. There’s no way to bypass the system. I have read of similar issues and of course, its just out of warranty. I assumed the warranty was like other brands but it’s much shorter. What to do? Purchase a washer with dials and not a brain; it will last years. Note that the models without a brain cost far less.

There are many things that we love about it; however it has had ongoing problems and the the latest one cannot seem to be fixed despite multiple repair calls by two different repair services. I purchased a Whirlpool Slide in Range Model WEG750HOHZ on March 23, 2019. After 7 days the oven would start on its own. I contacted Whirlpool Safety Team and they scheduled a service call. The following week the service company came out to tell me the computer that runs the oven needs to be replaced. Yet another week goes by to find out that they are still waiting on parts to come in. I should have demanded a full replacement oven. After spending nearly $2000 on an oven I can’t even use. Will never buy a Whirlpool product again.

We purchased this dishwasher in June 2014 while putting home back together
We purchased this dishwasher in June 2014 while putting home back together following fading of our home. Within 6 months of purchase the dishwasher was doing dry washes, and getting very hot touch. Whirlpool sent out repairman who replaced parts that had melted inside dishwasher and the control panel. This same thing happened 2 more times. A repairman came and repaired and replaced parts. In May 2016 it once again was running so hot that it burned hand when opened. Once again repaired but this time it started leaking from front dishwasher. When we talked to whirlpool they sent out repairman and assured us they would pay for any and all damage it had caused. They also replaced dishwasher with Maytag of our choice which they covered all cost. When installers pulled out the unit we learned the dishwasher had most likely been leaking the entire time, water damage up entire wall, cabinets ruined, countertops had been bubbling and separating from wall, floors ruined. We followed all instructions and had three contractors come to do estimates that were from 27,500-30,680. Whirlpool then sent outside adjuster because of cost. We have now received offer of 6700 and told we could take this or submit to our insurance company. Also we now have Mold in kitchen which they are aware of and we think the flooring is now rotting and breaking.
