Our experience with our Maytag refrigerator has been anything but good! It has the model # and serial # of the ones that have been recalled, only we have just found out about this. We bought this new at Sears. Soon after, it started having troubles with the freezer, would freeze up and the whole thing would stop working. Over the years, we have had repair after repair, money after money. Just for the record, my husband and I about every two weeks spend about one hour defrosting this monster! It looks nice on the outside.

I purchased a Maytag dishwasher four years ago and it has been serviced six times in those four years. Not just small things, main parts. Control board twice, control panel twice, and cleaning terribly the other two. They replaced the control board once and then would not do anything after that. I just got it replaced four years into this nightmare only because I bought a Sears home warranty plan and they are replacing it. I would never buy a Maytag appliance ever again.

I had the exact same experience as the Tampa person with my Maytag dishwasher (Model: MDBTT60AWW). It was not cleaning the dishes, even when I thoroughly rinsed them. Plus, it started leaking midway through the cycle. Since the warranty was expired, I purchased an extended warranty in July 2012 for $296 (yes, in hindsight, I should have just bought a new appliance, not Maytag). I had 3 visits from 2 different technicians, both telling me the dishwasher did not leak. One telling me I was using the wrong kind of detergent and thats why dishes werent getting cleaned. The other telling me that there were too much suds and that could cause it to leak. So, I should pour a tablespoon of cooking oil (yes, cooking oil) in the dishwasher when it starts leaking and that will cut down the suds. I dont think so!Then, I found out a couple of weeks ago that this model was under a recall since 2010, not related to the leak at all. Yet, Maytag still sold me the extended warranty (wheres the ethics of that?). I requested a pro-rated refund of the balance on the warranty - and wouldnt you know that with the technicians service calls, the amount of time used on the warranty (6 months) plus an admin fee - I have used $296.48 of the warranty amount. It is almost to the exact penny of what I originally paid, so I will not be receiving any refund. They are only giving me a debit card of $150 or $250 once I buy a new Maytag to replace the recalled model. I do not want to continue down this frustrating path known as Maytag appliances.

All I can say is what a mistake. Had a front loader that always smelled and had mold around rubber gasket in door. So, wanted a top loader this time after old GE died. Unbelievable, not enough water to clean clothing. Clothing comes out with some dry spots. And the worse thing is washing black items, tiny particles on black pants, shirts, etc. Think is lint not soap but not sure. You have to rub all over the clothing to try and remove. This washer is 8 months old and I have cleaned it with baking soda and vinegar mixture thinking this would help, it doesnt. The spin cycle sounds like a rocket ship taking off. Lots of banging noises during operation also. I have invested a lot of money thinking Maytag is rated high. It is a pretty grey color with glass top. Well I was fooled, not only the saying looks arent everything for people but its true for washing machines. I have gotten multiple mail from co. wanting me to get extended warranty. Think I will, usually dont, cause I think it wont be reliable. Wish I had my washer from the 70s and 80s. Plain old wringer that got things clean. Just put black pants in dryer on very low heat taken out damp cause I dont dry a lot of my clothing. This seems to have helped to remove stains (soap)/ lint. but, talk about wrinkles, oh boy, this machine has that spin cycle going 100 miles a minute. And if you pick a lower spin speed things come out wet. I actually can say I hate this Maytag Bravo. Things dont come out clean, wrinkles beyond control, very loud. Please folks check out your sites on the internet before buying Maytag.

Purchased Maytag Double Range MGT8720DH00 in March 2015. Within 2 months had to call gas company due to leak and service came out to fix it. Now anytime my house is closed up during a vacation or extended period away I come home to a locked range with a warning message to check to make sure that the knobs are off. Had gas company (who also called fire department) to come out tonight after returning from vacation with same issue again. They tested and said CO2 was ok, but to check reviews for similar ranges and I have seen repeated issues in reviews for Maytag products. The firemen all commented when they saw that it was a Maytag so it seemed like they have seen these issues before. Very scary to think we could be exposed to a constant low level gas leak in our home. Keeping windows open at all times is not a realistic option.

We have had our oven for seven years this past October 2015 and has now been down for three weeks. Last February 2015 (8 months ago) we had to replace the bake igniter because the oven would not get up to temperature. The most recent incident happened a few days after Thanksgiving (2015), I was cooking dinner and noticed that the oven was not reaching desired temperature. I then opened the door to see if it was hot inside the oven and when I did it must have ignited making a huge poof and flames came out at me! Thank God my 12-year-old daughter had walked away from cooking with me to answer the telephone because the flames came out exactly where she had been standing!!!I contacted Maytag and explained what had happened and how we could have had an explosion or someone couldve burned. The first questions they did ask me was if anyone was injured or any damage to our house?!?! I was happy for that however, it also told me that this has happened before! They called the Maytag repairman in my area and supposedly made it a priority call in which he could not come until 12/10 which was two weeks after this happened. Therefore, my husband and I contacted a different appliance man who came out and told us it was the temperature sensor. Since fixing it, the oven works ok and cooks properly however, when initially lighting/igniting it is extremely loud and makes a very large/huge poof! Its as if the oven is filling up with gas and eventually lighting! The other night when I lit it to show my husband it was so loud that it rattled the door and he immediately turned off the gas to it. I googled this and it said that its basically a mini explosion where the oven is filling with gas and then igniting! Its to the point that we could lose everything we have worked for just to make a meal! We spend over a thousand dollars on our beautiful stainless steel convect oven. Its gorgeous and when working works great however, Im petrified to use it now because Im scared to being burned or exploding! Now we start over and yesterday on Sunday I contacted the original Maytag repairman who said to call back Maytag again and hell come immediately. Maytag originally told me on the phone that they would cover labor and the service call however, ironically enough they did not write that in the dispatch order! Im outraged! What will it take before its safe for our family and home! My husband is ready to junk it and buy a GE however, we do not have the money especially before Christmas to do so. Oh and let me add that the first week we had the oven we had to call them for the window seal to be replaced because it was hanging. So now seven years after owning it and 10 months apart we are having major issues. What happens if its fixed and a year later it happens again? It could explode in our home!!! SCARED & IRATE WITH MAYTAG & WHIRLPOOL.

Bought washer in 2010 from Sears. Told me the washer had a sensor to measure how much water it needs. Was told by service guy that was a blatant misrepresentation by the sales person. It only fills up with 8 of water. When I wash my white towels with normal dirt (dog paws), with HE detergent and bleach on various cycles, my towels come out tie-dyed with dirt. Totally dislike this machine.

March 31, 2013 a Maytag front loader washer series 2000 was purchased. In January an error code E4 and F3 kept stopping the washer. Service replaced some minor part, worked for a week. Then service replaced a circuit board - worked fine for a few months. About June of 2014 the codes came up again. This time Service wants 430.00 for a 700.00 dollar washer to fix a continuing issue. So I decided not to spend the money. I could buy another washer, different brand of course, and try and fix it myself. I removed the top and the bottom front covers. The 3 wires going into the circuit board that was replaced were loose, barely plugged in. The catch all at the very bottom right had derbies and coin in it, cleaned that out. Looked at the motherboard with a magnifying glass. It had no bad solders, cracks or burn marks, so I proceeded to run my hands around the entire drum inside... and in the back side where you can’t really see were some more loose wires.... tightened them. Now with the spin rpms you can understand how things shake loose, I always look for the common sense issues.... I am currently on my third wash load. It runs smoother and quieter than it did when it was first installed. Point is the Maytag service sucks and with only a year warranty from the manufacturer. What did I have to lose to try and fix it myself. I am sure this is happening with a lot of other people. The odds of a motherboard or a circuit board going bad in such a short time made no sense. So check all the wiring FIRST. Make sure everything is securely plugged in. I would not recommend anyone buy a Maytag or Whirlpool (owns Maytag) for their reliability or service.

Four years ago we upgraded our 20+ year old Maytag washer and dryer to go with a more water efficient model. The old units were working like champs so we upgraded with Maytag assuming it to be equal quality. From the beginning we were not pleased with the washers cleaning ability and now we have electrical problems and a leaking transmission. Our serviceman estimated repairs to be the cost of a new washer. (Im not talking about a Maytag for replacement.) I e-mailed the Maytag company and they basically said Too Bad. Totally disappointed!! Wish we had our old units back.

We bought a Maytag refrigerator serial # K11101146 and model # MBL2258XES1 on 5/7/2011. We started seeing puddles on the floor about a month ago coming from the bottom freezer. The warranty on the refrigerator was only good for a year. We investigated it further online and saw that a lot of other people were having the same problem. We found a video on Youtube on the solution, which was to tear the bottom frig apart (which is a pain and takes about 3 hours to complete) and to thaw out all the ice accumulated on the coils and run hot water down the drain until that thaws out. It makes a real mess. Now we see that this will probably have to be done again and again from others online who are having the same problem. We never had this problem with any of our refrigerators or any problem with them for that matter. Our last one was a 15-year old Amana and we wanted a more energy efficient refrigerator. We bought this one at Home Depot thinking that this one would last us for the rest of our lives. We are in our mid 60s now. This should not be happening at all especially as much as we paid for the refrigerator. I contacted Maytag and they more or less said, “Sorry about your luck.” I hope something can be done about this, especially for the amount of complaints filed. Unfortunately I did not take pictures but if it happens again, which I understand from other complaints that it will. Thank you.

My family purchased a New Maytag Washer and dryer about 1 1/2 years ago! Thinking that the name was far more Superior than anything we could afford! What a piece of junk! The washer is nothing but flashing codes! Unlevel this and always stopping and starting over with a wash, when in fact it doesnt shake and bounce itself into the middle of the floor! As best as I can describe, it literally needs Hurricane straps to hold it down! You can never wash a full load because it cant handle it! Now! Onto the pathetic dryer! Several weeks after they were installed was the first scenario with the dryer! We had a representative that does work for Maytag warranty to come and work on it, after telling me over the phone that if in fact the lint trap had lint in it, that I would have to pay the service call! Funny!! So after diagnosis he said the belt broke that runs the exhaust fan! He said it was fixed and went on his merry way! Several months down the road! Same routine! Broken belt that runs the exhaust fan! And once again several more months down the road! Guess what!!! Yep!! Broken belt that runs the exhaust fan!!! So now here we are! I am now into the extended warranty that I purchased from the furniture store which was almost an additional $250.00! And voila!!! Its broken again! So being the fed up person that knows what the answer is going to be, I take the front off the dryer like I have seen done so many times before!!! And what to my surprise do I find?? Another Broken Belt!!! So I am wondering!! Why so many broken belts! So I take my flashlight and look at the motor and housing that holds the exhaust fan and I notice that in fact the housing that holds the exhaust fan is BROKEN! Therefore, this is the cause for so many broken belts!!! Well, who should be responsible??? I contacted the extended warranty people! What a waste of time! After setting an appointment for Sears to come work on the dryer and after explaining on several Recorded Phone conversations what has taken place! The service man comes to my home and not even 1 minute after entering tells me that he cant work on it because I have self diagnosed my dryer! What was the purpose in me explaining to them beforehand what I found??? Why didnt they mention then that I should not have taken it apart or hey put the front back on!!! Now after causing a ruckus with the furniture company that I have spent well over $50000 with!! They want to supply me with a 1 time Customer Courtesy!!! Of repairing the dryer!!! Oh did I mention that I am a Professional Diesel Mechanic for a major Trucking Company that is far more capable of diagnosing something like this than evidently the person they sent the first 3 times!! NEVER AND I REPEAT, NEVER BUY ANYTHING MAYTAG!!!

This model MGR5875QDW range is very difficult to use. When you press broil for instance, the display says set. There is absolutely no indication of how to set. Therefore, no broil. The same thing happens when you try to use the clean function. It is virtually impossible to use the control panel; it is just too difficult. Therefore, most of the functions are not usable. The kicker though is that the handle comes off. During the extended warranty period, a technician came out and fixed it. The toughest part of this job is to get the oven door back on. I tried for 2 hours everything I could think of. Then, I got an idea to use Maytags live chat. They told me that I would have to call for service and pay for a service call to get the door back on. I told them that their clean cycle is too painful to use, so I am assuming I am not the only one who has removed the door to clean the oven. Pay for a service call every time I want to clean my oven or fix their defective handle design because the handle falls off every 2 years? That is not acceptable.

Read MANY complaints about these units leaking water onto the floor underneath. This is accompanied by a sheet of ice forming on the bottom of the freezer under the main drawer. Good money says the cause is a plugged drain tube. I had a Subzero that suffered a similar problem. The factory installed drain tube was a flexible coil type and food particles would be easily caught, compromising water flow - leading to an ice plug and eventual evaporator ice-over. I replaced the factory tube with 1/4-inch rubber fuel line and the problem went away for good. With the Maytag units, if memory serves, access to the drain tube is from the back of the unit. You have to remove an access panel to get to it. There is typically a small removable rubber restrictor cap on the bottom of the tube; this is the most likely spot for a clog to form. Due to its design, IMO, clogging and ice-over will probably be a periodic thing. If you are really handy, you can do this maintenance thing yourself.

Purchased a Maytag OTR microwave in May of 2017. Started having issues with the Open/Close Door malfunction by September. Repair came out and essentially told us to keep opening and closing until it worked. It is January 2018 and the issue has gotten worse. My question is, since Maytag is keenly aware of the problem and has for years, based on other reviewers on here, why hasnt a class action lawsuit been filed? These appliances are expensive and it sounds like many of us have been taken to the cleaners!

The water drainage tube on the Maytag Refrigerators is DEFECTIVE and needs
The water drainage tube on the Maytag Refrigerators is DEFECTIVE and needs to be replaced during manufacturing of the appliances!!!!!!! The existing drainage tube kit in the appliance has a very tiny opening for the water to drain and what was not factored in during this manufacturing of the refrigerators was bacteria and dirt build up from the water draining to CLOG this very TINY opening in the existing drainage tube system. This results in the water having no place to drain except causing an ice build up in the freezer and then water draining onto the floor when it has no where to drain in the appliance. I am told by my reputable Maytag repairman, who also needed the same repair, that replacing the water tube drain #W10619951 occurs with customers 4-8 times PER WEEK in his practice. This is obviously an ONGOING defect that Whirlpool is IGNORING and needs to be addressed and corrected with some type of compensation for its customers. The service call and the replacement of the drain tube kit #W10619951 cost me $122.31. My Maytag refrigerator with a bottom freezer is less than 3 years old.Amazing also if you google MAYTAG refrigerator leaking water there is a MULTITUDE of youtube videos and websites instructing the consumer on HOW to replace this part in the refrigerator. Obviously there is a strong need for this instructional information to the consumer for this repair since it is an ONGOING PROBLEM that has not been addressed legally with manufacturer. Action needs to be taken. I am saving the original part that was removed from the appliance in case a class action remedy is necessary to correct this costly defect in the Maytag Refrigerators.

Now I have purchased another set approx. 3 years ago. As of today, I will be putting approx. $300.00 in repair to the washer. Repairman said it is a bad design. Bought this machine with the intention of having at LEAST 10 problem free years with it. Its a Maytag after all. Not an unreasonable expectation. Within the first 2 years, the machine sounded like the bearings were going out (heavy, grinding noises when it shifted gears). Repairman came, replaced the entire drum (only way to get to the gears, I guess). Didnt fix a thing. Then the rinse and spin cycle on ANY wash cycle randomly quits. Just stops. Full load of wet, soapy clothes, sitting in the tub while an LD error code quietly flashes. Its not uncommon for it to take two full days of screwing around with this machine to get one load of clothes done. Have to UNPLUG the machine, let it sit for about an hour, and try again. It is the biggest waste of money ever and I will NEVER buy another Maytag nothing. Contacted Maytag and they recommended I call a repairman...REALLY? REALLY? Gee, I wish I had thought of that. Repair guy has been to my house so damn many times for this machine, we are now friends on Facebook. Dont waste your money on this machine.

My original GE dishwasher that came with our house finally crapped out after about 8 years of use in 2007. Bought a Maytag from Home Depot for around $400. Dont remember the model number. It worked okay but then in the middle of 2010 we got a letter in the mail saying our machine was being recalled because the heating element might catch fire (!!!). The recall gave us the option of getting it fixed or getting a $150 rebate. We chose the rebate option so we trashed this dishwasher and went back to Home Depot to buy another one.We found a very nice Maytag with the stainless steel tub and the racks with the lifetime warranty against corrosion (which was good because our previous Maytag had started to leave rust on our dishes because the plastic on the tips of the rack tines was starting to come off), model #MDBA979AWB1, serial #FY2501885. The one we found was a no-box display model but it had all the accessories with it and still had the factory warranty. We got it for just over $300 and with our rebate applied we were out the door for under $200 including tax. I installed it myself and didnt have any issues for quite some time. My wife and I were both very happy with how clean the dishes got! Now, last night the dishwasher wouldnt start. I checked it out this morning, made sure it had power and was able to get some lights on the control panel to light up but still couldnt get it to start. Looks like Ive been victimized by the control board as most of these complaints have said. I guess I should consider us lucky since ours seems to have lasted longer than the average 18 months to 2 years. Will be contacting Maytag and Home Depot to see what they can do but after reading all these negative reviews Im not hopeful.

Ive had my washer for about two years and have been disappointed from the get-go. I did a lot of research and found this to be top rated... Wrong! Even though I use the HE detergent and Ive even cut down the amount with no results, it leaves gobs of soap/lint residue on most of my darks and I wind up having to either rewash on clear or rinse by hand to get rid of the stuff.Ive also noticed some snagging on some brand new towels, but I attributed that to possibly the brand. Well, then I had an issue with some very expensive bottom sheets shredding and raveling and still didnt catch on. Today I noticed a different towel with similar problems, which led me here and walah! I see Im not the only one having these issues… Darn! Warranty is expired and Im stuck!

Side by side refrigerator model #msd255oveu01. I bought this refrigerator Apr. 2011... The 1st year, the ice kept sticking in machine or freezing up. Now they have had to replace the modules 3 times. Once fall of 2012 and and again yesterday, 3/19/14 and they had to come back today to replace that one. I have called Maytag and they wont stand behind it since the warranty is over. I have told them that this is an ongoing thing with the ice maker and I have had to have it serviced ever since I have bought it. I told them from the git go that the ice maker needed replace. The ice dispenser also drops an ice cube on the floor on occasion and if I use crushed ice it jams up. This product is defective and is not a good product.

Maytag WFW7590FW & YWED75HEFW 24 Compact Washer and Dryer: These 2 machines are a lemon and the extended warranty plan was completely disappointed. Both needs maintenance before the 1 year warranty ends. The washer was the worst between the pair. The washer cannot spin the laundry dry. The Home Depot extended warranty plan was not the cost. It takes 2 business day for the service call to call us back. Then a schedule date was 2 days later. The service person complained about not getting authorization to do the work without charging us. He did even showed up for the 3rd call. He did nothing to resolve the issue and said the diagnostics showed there was a load issue, which was not true. A very light load still didnt spin dry. The washer not spinning clothing dry issue has been more than 1 month and is still not resolved. The repair person Dean didnt even re-schedule another date after not showing up today. There is a 90 day policy that we cant request for another repair person to attend to the issue. The dryer also made excessive noise which was caused by a broken attachment that established the drum.

Maytag Bravos Quiet Series 300 - Just DONT BUY this junk. We bought the washer and dryer set from Home Depot in 2011 and have had nothing but trouble with the washer. Three times small objects like dimes, pennies and nickels got past the agitator into the drain pump which has been replaced twice. Beneath the agitator we even found a few missing socks. Today after a visit to the Laundromat, we bought a Samsung with a 5 year extended warranty. If that doesnt work it will be an old fashioned Speed Queen next. We will never buy anything Maytag again and I hope to influence everyone we meet about them. I cant wait to throw it into the city landfill for recycle dog food cans.

I attempted over and over just to swap out washing machines. I originally purchased a washer and dryer because of a defect in the top load they delivered. They talked me in to the frontload Neptune instead. Within months I started having daily reactions to mold and to my disgust found out it was from my washing machine. I begged to switch back to the top load I originally ordered and the store would not let me and referred me to Maytag who sent me some tablets and would help me no further. Apparently, the Maytag repairman wasnt lonely anymore if a product had to be manufactured and ready for complaint calls. Well I used the product. I used vinegar and baking soda. I have used hot water and bleach. I have left the door open to dry...It is the most cared for item in our family and the one that makes me ill literally. I cannot afford to buy a different one and would be interested to know if my husband’s declining health issues have anything to do with our mold issue or if it is just depression...Anyway, I was very discouraged to find out that other people in other states had washing machines replaced, but why didnt I? I would be happy if they could buy back my old Maytag that I had prior to this Neptune, I am sure it is making someone very happy somewhere. Why couldnt they have respected my very true complaint? I was not trying to get something for nothing. I paid for something to keep us cleaner and free from allergens and instead wash my clothes in mold and have mold spores leaching into the air in my home. Please help.

We bought a Maytag dishwasher March 2012 and the unit wouldnt turn on October 2013 - 6 months after the warranty ended. We called their service department and they told us to unplug the dishwasher or turn off the circuit breaker. We did so and the unit still would not turn on. We called a repairman who advised us that the touch pad was not working. The cost with parts and labor would be close to $300 which was more than half the original price. We repaired it and I sent all the papers with a letter to the consumer department and today I got a call advising us that they would not do anything. Do you think I have any further recourse? If not, I will never buy a Maytag product again and will advise anyone within a listening area as to how we were treated.

I share the complaints of others about the Maytag Bravos washer (model MVWB300WQO), which I purchased in October of 2009.Besides being overpriced, its a washer that doesnt soak clothes, develops a bad odor, has silly things like unnecessary lights and music, and you cant add an item once the wash cycle has begun without the cycle starting over from the beginning. It also leaves washed items in twisted wads and the lid locks so you cant see whats going on inside. In addition, it damages items. Ill have to replace a full-sized blanket that it recently destroyed and now I cant trust that itll wash things safely, which is a problem. The person I spoke with at the companys customer service department simply said that I shouldve used the bulky item option instead of the regular cycle. I explained that Id used the bulky item cycle before and the same thing happened. The washer leaves larger items stretched very tightly across the tub and I suspect that is how my lightweight cotton blanket was destroyed. She offered to schedule someone to service the washer. But its not broken, its a poor design, so sending someone here would be a waste of time.

We purchased a Maytag electric convection oven with a warming drawer 3 months ago. We have been happy with the cooking features, but not the Aqualift self-cleaning. It does not work and Maytag does not acknowledge this. Instead they have offered cleaning products to us which their own instructions tell you not to use! Does this sound like a self-cleaning oven? They have offered to send out a service person to check the temperature. However, from reading multiple reviews by others, there will likely be no satisfaction from this company.

Purchased my 1st brand new washing machine almost 3 years ago, a Maytag Centennial Washer for a little more than $600.00. Now it needs over $400.00 worth of repairs to get it working. Theres a reason the Maytag repair guy has nothing to do. Its because their products cant be repaired and are disposable. 25 years ago we bought our first washing machine that was used. It lasted for 22 years before it died. Maytag cant make a product that can last for 3. Also got stuck with a $65.00 service fee for them to tell me its broke and not worth fixing. My Maytag (MER7662XQ) oven has stopped working after barely 6 months of use. I filed a warranty-repair complaint and reported the error codes shown: F1 (faulty touchpad) and F3 (faulty temp sensor). Although Maytag promptly sent a repairman, he arrived without parts and left within 5 minutes without fixing anything. He said he would order parts. Whenever they were delivered to us, by mail, we should call again to schedule another repair. But he warned he was prohibited from coming out for another 7 days. So far, Ive been without an oven for almost 3 weeks and there has been no action or information. My calls to Maytag produced nothing, except confirmation they show the repair as open since they do not actually distribute parts, and the repairman is with an outside company. A terrible product and a worse service! I would not ever buy another Maytag product and recommend that no one else does either.

SO SO disappointed. I thought by purchasing a Maytag washer and dryer that I was purchasing quality products. Not so. After only 3 yrs, the dryer is broken. It needs a new heating element assembly at $139 plus a visit from the technician and installation. In total, it will cost about $300 to repair. The washer is slowly going also. It takes about 2 minutes before it starts. Never used to do that. The technician told me that these do not last and that the computer is likely to go in another couple of years which will cost $400 to repair. I called Maytag to see what they could do for me. They offered the part at 1/2 price but insisted on another diagnosis even though Ive already had one. That along with their labor cost was going to cost more than anyone else. So no more Maytag products for me.

I bought a full kitchen of Maytag appliances when I bought a new house in 2009. I thought it was a reliable company. Id always gone with GE before. I couldnt get the packing sticker off the oven after trying everything to remove it, so the oven bottom is virtually ruined. The timer on the oven dings once and stops; dinner burns if Im not right there to hear it. I was told by customer service thats the way it works, so I had to buy a separate timer. I am now replacing my 2 ½-year-old dishwasher because the control panel has once again stopped working. It cost me $275 to fix the first time and it lasted less than 3 months. Our bottom freezer began building up ice. We cleared the ice and unclogged the drain gasket as per the many instructions that we found online. Researching this problem, I discovered very quickly that this is due to a faulty design of the drain grommet. A new part has been substituted by Maytag. I called Maytag customer service and they refused to supply the replacement at no cost to me and claimed there is no quality issue. This is not about the $20 for the part. It is a leading consumer brand disregarding customer satisfaction. This is also bad business. They will sacrifice their reputation for a $20 part on a $1,000+ purchase. They need to be put on notice that they cannot get away with this in the age of the web where there is total transparency.

I grew up trusting and believing in the name brand Maytag. Unfortunately, I wont anymore. I purchased a Maytag MDB7749AWM1 dishwasher from Lowes thinking that I would not need the extended warranty because well it was a Maytag and they just keep working and working for years to come. Not true anymore. 1.5 years after the purchase the control board has gone out. I come to find that hundreds upon hundreds of people have all experienced the same thing. Shortly after the manufacturer warranty expires, the panel dies. By all accounts it is an issue of POOR engineering and Maytag now being produced by Whirlpool. The replacement part is between $150 and $200. Thats about half the purchase price. It is a racket. Companies like this probably think, well if we build something that is going to last and last we cant make money on that. So lets rig it so our stuff breaks right after the warranty and charge half the price of the unit to fix it so we continue to make money either by people buying the part or just going and getting a new dishwasher. Well I can tell you I will be getting a new dishwasher and it certainly wont be a Maytag OR a Whirlpool.

Have owned Maytags (washer and dryers) for 40 years. I bought a Bravos top load washer and matching dryer because we gave our old set to a daughter leaving for college. That was less than four years ago! We bought this because it conserved water and there would only be my husband and myself home. So laundry needs would be minimal. The washer quit draining and starting making a terrible noise several days ago. Immediately called repair service - I knew from the onset this was going to be a big problem because when I told them the model, they responded - uh oh! Two days later service man comes to assess repair and lifts machine up and tells me bad seal has leaked to gear box and ruined it. Soooo for a machine that is less than 4 years old, I will have to pay $280 for part, $79 for service call, $60 for labor and $35 to have them pick it up and redeliver (because the repair is too big to be made in my home). $454 for a machine that gets minimal use!!!! I can add another $100 plus and buy a brand new machine. Why should I have to??? In doing some research, I found out this is a common issue with this model and Maytag has paid for the repair of other washers because it is a common problem. Even the serviceman said that and recommended I get a hold of Maytag. Their response - sorry mam you dont gave an extended warranty. (NOW I HAVE A LEMON!) Guess my next step is to write a letter to Maytag Corporate Office. I will keep going up the ladder until they address this flawed machine problem! One thing is for certain - I will never ever buy another Maytag product of any kind or will I ever recommend it. They are just not reliable. Guess, nowadays they are considered throw away products - keep them a few years and throw them away because its not worth your money and effort to repair them :-(

We purchased this set 6 months ago. The store we purchased it from is unwilling to help us. Maytag insists there is nothing wrong with the washing machine. The machine doesnt clean the clothes. After a wash cycle there is pet fur and lint all over the clothes, even after it comes out of the dryer. The clothes are all twisted in tight knots when the load is done. The washing Machine doesnt dispense enough water to wash. I have taken clothes out of the washer and the items are dry in spots, most times you can smell the mustiness of a dish towel after its been washed.I used the steam clean dryer to fresh in up the curtains and the panels came out different lengths. Not eager to try that feature again. This is our 2nd dryer set purchase, the last set was 10 yrs old. I couldnt find anyone willing to repair it. I was told they dont make machines like they used to and they are all designed to last 10 yrs and you’re lucky if it lasts 15 yrs. Yes, we contacted Maytag and yes, like the many other folks who have shared their stories we also got the run around. Sad to say we are going to do our research and will be looking for a new machine. Im going to shamefully donate the set to a charitable organization and use the receipt as a tax write off. IF you’re doing your research, DO NOT BUY A MAYTAG.

I have a 50/50 chance of completing a wash cycle. Most times, the washer stops working at 8 minutes remaining in ANY cycle. The washer will leave me with wet clothing and refuses to spin even when most wet, dripping articles are removed. I have tried to put all light-weight items together and that still is not a guarantee that I can get this done in one cycle. Most often, the error code comes up, I spin the drum around, move the clothing around and try again. This process is NOT energy efficient which is why I bought the ** thing in the first place. I am ready to put it on the curb for the trash man to pick up.We had a service person out and he said it is either the bearings or the motor (both a $400 job). So, I have had no dishwasher for over a month and have no idea when, or if it will be repairable. Additionally this part is $150.00 and another $75.00 to have it changed. So it is going to cost me $225.00 to repair a 15 month old dishwasher that I paid $450.00 for. I have received ZERO support from Whirlpool. They told me today, 7-31-13, that the part is still unavailable and they will notify me in 3-6 business days as to if they can find a part. After seeing all the issues other people have had with this part, Whirlpools total lack of concern or support for the consumer and the cost issue it makes no sense to repair this unit only to see it fail again in a year or so. Basically I have a $450.00 boat anchor. The retailer purchased it from feels bad and is offering me another manufactures machine at a reduced price. Maytag has refused to do anything for me. I will never buy another Whirlpool / Maytag item again and I do intend to add my name to the pending class action suit.

My Maytag washing machine is nothing like the ones that my mom used to have
My Maytag washing machine is nothing like the ones that my mom used to have. This thing is loud as it click, click clicks through cycles. Being a mechanical engineer, I assume that parts are taking a beating inside that machine to make all that noise. Then comes the wash time on this thing. With water level on auto sensing and one rinse, this machine takes over an hour to do a batch of wash. It literally stops dead for at least a full minute between each cycle then click, click, clicks its way to the next. It does not rinse very well as more often then not there is soap scum on the clothes when the washer finally stops. SPEND A FEW DOLLARS MORE AND BUY A DIFFERENT BRAND! Maytag is garbage!

My disappointment with this washer (Bravos xl) is that it smells moldy and musty no matter what I do. I clean with affresh when light comes on, leave the top open, etc. I have tried cleaning it with baking soda and vinegar poured down the detergent opening. Water does not drain from the bleach or softener openings. I have resorted to using baking soda in every single wash and adding an extra rinse to keep my clothes from smelling. The laundry room always smells. I would go back to an agitator in a heart beat if this hadnt been so expensive. DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE.

I have had a few dishwashers in the past, however this is the worst product I have ever purchased. After a couple of years in service I needed a new control panel which cost $200.00. The dishwasher defaults to heated dry and the exhaust for the dishwasher is right behind the copper electrical runs so it corrodes and fries the runs. The way I see it Whirlpool and Maytag saw a unique way to gouge its customers for parts. They also have a rope and plastic cable system that attaches to the door spring that continues to break cost $28.00 a piece, I have replaced two. Now I see that one of the pulley guides (plastic) is broken and split cost??? Here is another brilliant engineering feat, the door panel clips into the control panel so that when the door is pulled in a normal fashion it comes loose. If you buy this line of dishwasher (p.o.s) plan to work on it and buy parts on a constant basis. Here is my advice: buy one control panel, two cable systems, and a couple of cable pulleys or buy a cheap dishwasher as a replacement and save some money. Run from Maytag or its parent company Whirlpool - let the buyer beware.

I wrote the below to Maytag on their FaceBook page, of course havent heard anything back from them. Adding this on since I forgot about it, I have dogs and wash their blankets often, not that theyre dirty just for the dog smell. I have to wash them on the sanitize cycle which is an 1.5 hours long because if I use the normal cycle which is only 43 minutes they come out smelling exactly the same way they went in. I saw someone else post that their mothers front loader doesnt put in enough water so Im wondering if thats what happens to mine. So wish I would have checked the reviews before buying, thought I was getting a great washer buying Maytag. This is what I wrote on their FB page: I bought a Maytag front loading washer on 5/10/16 which was delivered and set up on 5/13/16. On Wednesday 10/19/16 it stopped working, so just over 5 months from the day it was installed. I called your company on 10/20/16 for repairs, they couldnt get here until today, 10/24, so 5 days with no washer. The customer service rep had all the details on what happened and Im sure passed them along to the repair company. He ran diagnostics, said it was the drain pump which was obvious even to me, but claimed to not have one with him even though they were in stock. Cant make it back until Wednesday, so two more days with no washer. He then proceeded to tell me that the dryer had to come off (stacked on top since the washer is a front loader) before he got back, that the warranty wouldnt cover two people coming out. So Im supposed to spend more money to hire someone to come out, take off the dryer and then pay them again to come back and put it back on. I called the customer service department again and was told they dont cover installation which stacking is. She said the warranty doesnt cover stacked units, as far as I can find that isnt stated in the warranty so please let me know where that is stated in writing. So I have a just over 5-month-old washer that needs repair already (bodes well for the future doesnt it??), will be without a washer for almost a week because the repairman didnt bring the most obvious part with him (maybe wanted to be paid for two calls?) and have to pay someone else for installation so it can be fixed. So wheres the Maytag man? I am not a happy customer and will be letting as many people know as possible. Ill be in the market for other new appliances soon, will sure as hell make sure theyre not made by Maytag, Whirlpool et all.

Purchase washer and dryer January 26th, had delivered said February 2nd. Had a horrible delivery service, delivery men were very rude and scratched the dryer. Washer never worked correctly, called and had exchange set up for February 9. Washer was delivered on February 9 and again we had a horrible experience with the delivery drivers. They scratched the washer. The owner of the delivery company came to our home making sure everything was correct. Washer worked well for two and a half weeks. Then I noticed the water was slowing down when it was filling. Then this morning the washer completely stopped filling. We called Maytag and they told us we could not get anybody here until next Saturday. They were rude on the phone. We then called Home Depot where we purchased it and said we want to return the washer and dryer. They said we cannot return it. We are stuck with it. Now weve been arguing with Home Depot and Maytag all morning trying to get someone to my home to get the washer fixed. This set cost $1,400 and Maytag is not supporting us on selling us 2 lemon washing machines. We are stuck because we cant return them or exchange them. Home Depot gave us an option to exchange for a lesser model that they have in stock. When you read the reviews for that model the reviews are terrible. I would highly recommend that you do not purchase a Maytag or Whirlpool product. Their company does not stand behind their products or their workmanship. If I had the opportunity I would return these to the store. But it has been over 30 days and I believe that is not an option. Stuck with a lemon. Very sad that customer service is so crappy on an American-made product.

I purchased a dishwasher and stove from Home Depot. Stove has already been replaced twice because of faulty manufacturing and now the dishwasher, after 1 1/2 years no longer works due to the control panel. I called a repair representative of Whirlpool/Maytag and explained the circumstances. Their own customer service people indicate that it is cheaper to replace a product then it is to repair it. Shame on Maytag and Whirlpool that they move their companies to countries outside of the United States and they no longer stand behind their product. Shame on them that what use to be the best product around is no longer worth paper you print on. I will no longer purchase any product from Maytag, Whirlpool or Home Depot since they all seem to line their pockets from products they know wont last. One mouth is worth a thousand complaints and I plan on screaming from the rooftops!

I was not given a contact or phone number - nothing. I spent over $32,000 at Home Depot fixing up my fathers home and rentals and this is how Home Depot treats customers. Worse I have a worthless Maytag that ceased working after just 3 months. Washer would stop right after it started. I googled the problem and found out it was a bad lock. These Bravo XL units were purchased in 2015. Called an appliance repair and they charged me $250 to replace the lock (service call was $98.00 and labor was $90). The repairman left and I started the washer. There was a loud sound coming from it. I called the repairman back and he said it was the gear case and basket. He said the basket was covered under the warranty but the gear case wasnt. Would be about $750 to fix....no way was I paying the cost of a new washer to fix this less than 4 yr old one. I called Maytag. They couldnt help me. I should have purchased an extended warranty they said. The cost to purchase the extended warranty is now $394.00 per year....please do not purchase a Maytag/Whirlpool appliance unless you like buying extended warranties.

I chose Maytag because they received a good rating from Consumer Reports. I liked that they were for extra large loads however now that Ive had them for 12 years I know the large loads are no more than my old Kenmore washer and dryer. The real deal breaker for me is the size of load that you can actually wash. I was hoping I would be able to wash a blanket without worrying about the washer going off balance. My washer and dryer are Maytag although I dont know the model number. They are full size but the extra large load is not extra large. The knob on my washer broke and Maytag wanted $15 for a plastic knob! I found it on eBay for $3. The washer goes off balance too easily.

I have never liked the stove because it is too small (it came with the triplex) and it has porcelain like top. One burner burns to hot, the other three mediocre, there isnt enough space between the burners and the back of the stove. It doesnt cook evenly and it really does not have a low or simmering setting. You cant set a timer for simmering because it cooks too fast. The knobs are stuck and sometimes wont light when you turn them down. The oven is okay, but could be better. Wish it had self cleaning. The broiler in no existence. Food way too close to the flames. We have had this oven since we bought the triplex back in 2011.

It doesnt wash the clothes completely. On every dark load I have what looks like streaks of lint. I contacted Maytag. They gave me suggestions for solutions. None of them worked. I have put the clothes on for a second rinse and spin and it got out some of the lint. Also. they are evidently spun so hard in the washer, after they come out of the dryer they are a wrinkled mess. The frontload washer 4000 series began making a very loud noise on spin. I called Maytag and requested service. The technician came and made a diagnostic evaluation, stating this has been a bearing defect affecting several of these models. I called Maytag, and the representative agreed to ship the parts at no charge. A week later, we received the parts, only for the technician to find one of the parts damaged in shipping perhaps. So another part was sent directly to the Maytag dealer. Upon my research, this appears to be a known issue with the Maytag/Whirlpool corporation, and I found where customers had requested Maytag to also be responsible for the service/labor costs, which were also covered by Maytag. I made the call today and was advised no and to be happy that Maytag paid for the parts due to a known defect and that no service or labor charges would be covered. I understand my machine is out of warranty, but this is a known defect; its nothing caused by my self.

I purchased my Bravos washer and dryer in Sept. 2010. What a mistake! The dryer is okay but the washer is a nightmare! The repairman and I are on a first name basis. The last time he was here, he showed me how to recalibrate my washing machine. It stops working in the wash cycle, fills with water and then sits there. I have to manually drain it and start over. I shouldnt have to recalibrate anything in life, much less, a brand new washing machine.

So we bought the whole Maytag kitchen appliance FZ (fingerprint resistant)
So we bought the whole Maytag kitchen appliance FZ (fingerprint resistant) series suite. That was such a mistake! Id give the part numbers but I think this applies to Maytag in general as it sounds like all of their appliances suck. Ours are 1½ year old and I already want new ones. Over $3,600 for junk. We knew it was no Viking or Sub Zero but didnt expect to flush $4k down the toilet either. The microwave is an over the range type and we have it vented to the outside of the house. The vent works like crap to remove the steam when you have a large pot of water boiling on the stove top. I can put the fan on high and barely any steam goes up the vent, most of it ends up soaking the microwave door to the point where I have to towel it off. The vent will hold up a paper towel so I know its pulling air but the location of the vent in relationship to the large front burners makes it useless. And the self cleaning is as others have already stated - A joke.We bought the fingerprint resistant SS and I would rather have the fingerprints than all of the scratches. Today, and this is no BS, I had a lottery ticket on the fridge under a magnet and I pulled the ticket because I wanted to check the numbers, well I slid the paper about 4 inches while it was still on the fridge under the magnet and now we have these fine scratches everywhere I did this. It wasnt the magnet because it has a felt backer on it, I took the paper off and slid the magnet all over the place, no scratching. I cant believe a piece of paper would even leave a mark at all. This is aside from some larger scratches that someone in the house must have used a feather duster on it or something. The French door fridge is loud and the ice maker is huge! The slide out basket in the freezer always gets cockeyed and stuck like its coming off the track. To line up the door tops you have to adjust the feet on the bottom of the fridge. I have to put ours out of level to get the door tops to line up, well this makes it look terrible in the cabinet space so you have to make a choice of what is uglier - thats just bad engineering. Our old fridge (GE) you could adjust the doors right on the bottom of the door. Its like they forgot this and said, Well you can just tip it one way or another to get them to line up, ya lets put that in the manual. The dishwasher sucks, plan on rinsing everything, even the silverware doesnt come clean. No its not our water. We are so disappointed in this brand which used to be considered very good, what the heck happened? Ship manufacturing over to China? And another thing, I highly doubt this is stainless steel. I know there is ferritic and martensitic stainless that are magnetic but Id bet all of my appliances that this is just regular carbon sheet steel with some coating on it to give a stainless steel look. All except for the range, that is different and doesnt scratch like the fridge, microwave, and dishwasher. Not sure why but probably has to do with the heat so they couldnt use this junk coating, just a guess though. Anyway it doesnt matter, all of the appliances are a complete waste of money. Poor design, poor performance, poor durability, pure junk!

We just replaced our 20-year-old washer and dryer for a new Maytag Bravos set. The Home Depot staff convinced us that top loading units were of good quality and reliable. We were fairly satisfied with our expensive purchase when our washer stopped spinning. We are just past our 1-year warranty of course so we called the service department. A young man in a beat-up pickup truck showed up and spent his time reading the manual that was hidden under the washer. His best guess was a $300 part plus a $100 fee for him to show up. So to repair a less than 2-year-old machine is $400. Im tempted to buy a different washer. It wont be a Maytag, unless you can convince me otherwise. I give you credit for great advertising! I was convinced that Maytag was a good name with limited repairs.
