Maytag Range difficulty
This is my first convection oven. It is a double oven and I am hooked for life. I love the smooth top and use the convection daily. The only small issue I have is that the touch buttons on the range are on the harder side to push. But other than that, I have owned this for 5 years or more and would only get the same type again if I had too.
After writing a polite but stern complaint to several of the executives at Maytag and Whirlpool we got a call from their executive assistant. She arranged to have a technician come out to our house and assess the installation. He found nothing wrong and Maytag replaced the control panel for free. The technician has seen numerous faulty electronic control panels, and not just with Maytag. He would not recommend a preferred make or model. He longed for the old mechanical timer switches, which we could no longer find in the newer models. With enough customer complaints maybe they will do something about the electronic control panel in the future.
Thinking that the Neptune fiasco was over, I happily bought into the sick company and got burnt 3 times for all 3 purchases. The Gemini range with dual ovens: the controller clock with all relays and electronic package is dying, leaving me with no ovens, or slow heating and an alarm in the middle of the night. Now, even the burners are not working properly. Junk at any price, and I paid $2,400. Not 5 years old and repaired several times under warranty; all were electrical failures. The fridge is another failure. Apparently the Freon is leaking out. It is unrepairable and it was typical of these from what the service guy said, not 5 years old. It was repaired once, leaking on floor. Apparently, it was a kinked drain hose. The dishwasher was one year old and it caught fire when the dial was turned while the machine was running. The 4th machine, an over the range microwave, is still running… although from day one it sucks so much power on the dedicated line that it dims the lights in the microwave as it starts up and each time, the magnetron energizes. I am just waiting for it to fail too. Can you say never and mean it? There was no goodwill offered. “So sad” and “too bad” is the common line. Nothing will last more than 5 years if you listen to sales people at Maytag - junk. There was no help from the corporate office. Nothing I can do for you. Junk, junk, junk.
I am fairly happy with this ranges performance. I do have a couple of issues on the design. I would like to be able to simmer at a lower temp on a front burner, as I use a large stock pot and a pressure canner occasionally. The smaller BTU burners are on the back and the large pots do not fit over them. I havent noticed any problems with the upper ovens performance...seems to do what I ask it to, including the broiler. I have not tried the lower oven or the convection feature at all yet. Nor have I had to use the self-cleaning feature, yet...almost afraid to after reading other peoples nightmares, though. My biggest concern is the lack of safety with the knobs on the front of the stove top. Several times, the gas has been turned on by my cat simply walking across the front of the stove and stepping on a knob. This allows gas to leak until I notice. It happened again early this morning just before 4:00 am. I was awakened by a smell, which I thought was a dead mouse somewhere (we live in the country in a 100 year old house - mice do get in, thus the cats). I searched the whole house, looking for a dead mouse, until I finally walked into the kitchen and heard the hissing from the stove. Im glad I didnt try to light a candle while I was still thinking dead mouse! After turning off the gas and removing all of the knobs, I opened all the windows to let the house air out. I SHOULD NOT have to remove the knobs every time my stove is not being used! You do have to depress the knobs slightly to ignite the burners, but its too easy. Obviously, the simple act of a little cat putting its paw on the knob is enough to open the gas. This is a serious flaw that could kill someone! Something needs to be done to correct this before someone is killed or a house full of propane or natural gas is ignited and explodes!!! I will be reporting this to Maytag and hope that they will voluntarily issue a recall to have this problem fixed...Wish me luck.
Maytag is supposed to be the best. I wanted a top loader again. This washer is almost worthless because of the water control. I have to add buckets of water before I start the washer. Otherwise the clothes are not clean. The cycles are strange with the amount of agitation. I will continue looking for an OLD model. DO NOT BUY THIS WASHER.
Ive had my Maytag microwave (MMV4203DS00) for a little over two years. I started getting SE error code. The control touch pad membrane is shorted out. I suspect because the design doesnt allow it to be an over-the-range even though thats the kind of microwave it is! I think the humidity from the burners shorted out the membrane. I called the company and the part would cost approximately $180 for me to fix myself. I have a really hard time believing that one part of a $200 microwave costs $180. Ridiculous. It appears this microwave is designed to fail. Customer service was rude and snarky. The company doesnt appear to stand behind their product. Maytag used to mean something. I had started to replace all my kitchen appliances - microwave, then stove. I thought Id be consistent and buy Maytag based on their reputation. I will never buy Maytag again.
My stove is approximately nine years old. During the past year both my husband and I enjoy cooking from recipes 3-4 times a week thus the stove has become essential. Functionality and size is important when trying to cook meals with two or three components. One of the oven racks was missing from the oven when we moved into the house. Even though it is self cleaning, spills pile up between cleanings so it is great that it has a really cool steam cleaning option. Just wish it were 5-6 years newer.
The Bravos XL MCT Maytag commercial Technology is not a good machine. I noticed it within the first few weeks. I called Conns to request technical support but the technician they sent didnt solve the problem. I also called Maytag, they also sent a technician. He told me the same thing as the other guy. To use good quality detergent and to make sure the clothes are neatly arrange around the drums walls. Nothing works. My clothes dont get clean because they dont get wet. Theres lots of residuals and wrinkles all over them. Also, the machine takes way too long to finish a load of clothes. I did tried to return it, but Conns wouldnt take it back. I dont recommend this washing machine at all!
Purchased this oven at Lowes on 2/8/2018 for $1925. Worked good until my wife cleaned the lower oven on 11/22/2019. The next morning the oven was locked and nothing would work. We called for service and the repair bill was $194.55. I told the repairman that the oven had a 10 year warranty on it, one year on everything and the rest on the parts only. He said no, and showed me in the warranty book that it only covered two parts. Which was not the two parts he had to replace. If you purchase a oven with self-clean feature, I would recommend that you do not use it.
Ive been a Maytag consumer since 1980. I bought washer, dryer, refrigerator and a smooth top oven. I replaced the washer and dryer with the Bravos series on November 22, 2011. Everything was fine until 6 weeks ago. The bearing went bad under the drum. 2 techs and 2 weeks later, at the cost of $527 and change spent on repair for a $650.00 machine, I started to look into reviews. Not! Can you say class action lawsuit! The fine gentlemen informed me 5 years ago about the Canada buyout, a local retailer that only sold Maytags. He shut his doors due to the fact that he will not work on junk! Oh well, he was right. 13 months worth of use and Im going to spend that kind of money. Now I understand why the repairman in the commercials retired! Shame on you. Love, crazy Mike.
I bought this Maytag oven (MEW 7627HB) to replace a 20-year-old GE double oven. Upon the first use, I found that it has noisy cooling fans which run continuously as soon as it is turned on and, for some time, after it is turned off. These fans make an irritating, loud, whistling noise. The dealer responded to my complaint, pulled the oven out and performed a complete system test. He then called engineers at the Whirlpool factory, who told him that the fans were a recent redesign made because the previous design didnt satisfactorily cool the electronic control circuit and that there was nothing to be done about the noise. After several weeks, the oven, when in use, continues to stink of overheated electronics. I fear it wont last long.Note that my old GE model, which also had electronic controls, didnt run a fan at all unless both ovens had been on for some time or the self-cleaning feature had been on for a while. And it didnt make a loud noise.
When my husband surprised me with a double oven stove I was leery. First Thanksgiving my thoughts were concurred as the 20lb turkey fell from the chinsey rack.....even a cookie tray with almonds fell down.... Unfortunately the lower oven is off by 1/2, no racks work in there. My biggest gripe is that the seller did not exchange it, just tried more racks. Now Maytag will not do anything but allow me to order more racks. This item is a huge piece of junk.
we have trouble with maytag doublre oven. the oven is over 100 degree off set temp and is not consitant. some times high some times low. we have had ae repair out they relaced control board and circuit board same problem still exists. we had turner repair out they took a reading when it hit desires temp but did not stay to see temp rise above or below set temp. turner repair another tech order a temp probe the turner tech put in probe and jst left didnot even check oven. he was pissed off I quess. same problem still exisits. We bought stove from Nebraka furniture mart the said theyont support repair after 30 days. we hope and pray that the tech will report to Maytag (Whirlpool) that the stove is bad and we can get a new one. So far no repair action has helped. We had a repair person out to repair a leak on a whirlpool washer . he also is qualified on stove but not a whirlpool repair authorized repair person. He checkedd the stove and said it is 100 degees off and we need to get a new one. We need some help with this problem please help us or tell us who to contact to get this problem resolved. gary Luttrull 816-618-3277
In 2009, we purchased $5,041 worth of Maytag appliances. Three years later, we have had issues with every appliance except the dryer. The washer needed a new motor and circuit board in February 2011. The oven light came on and stayed on because the switch malfunctioned in June 2011. The ice maker in the bottom drawer sprung a leak in February of 2012 and today, the over-the-range microwave stopped working without any sputters or warnings. While I was investigating the possible reasons for my microwaves demise (Im concluding that it is poor craftsmanship!), I found that my dishwasher is on recall. I did not have any problems with that and it is the one appliance that could have started a fire! Maytag appliances will not be bought again by me or anyone I know. They are a huge disappointment and waste of my money!
Maytag Smoothtop Double Oven - Bought this stove 2 and 1/2 months ago and already buttons arent working. Very disappointed, not getting a Maytag again.
My Maytag refrigerator, model number mff2557heb, serial number 10375839gv, was purchased in 5/2005. Two weeks ago, this refrigerator stopped working. I called the Maytag technician and then right away came to my house and find out it is the compressor that needs to be replaced. He told me to search if it is under warranty. I searched in the internet Maytag compressor warranty and I found it and then called the Maytag representative. I told them I have found in their website that compressor of this Maytag is covered for 10 years but labor is not included. Then they asked me to fax it. I faxed the copy on 6/20 and they responded on 6/22. He said they received the copy and he said, Yes, it is covered for 10 years but you will shoulder the labor. So to make the story short, this Maytag representative scheduled Friday, 6/29 for the Maytag technician to fix my refrigerator. My husband did not go to work yesterday, 6/29, Friday, so he will be home for this Maytag tech. Maytag tech came at about 2pm yesterday and when he confirmed that it is the compressor that is the problem, he asked for the warranty paper. And when my husband present the proof, the copy of their warranty coverage that came from the Maytag website, he refused to work with my refrigerator because he said the one in the internet is not valid. It is really upsetting because I faxed the copy of it to them on 6/20/12 and they honored it. Thats why they arranged the technician to come to my house and then my husband did not work for them to work with our refrigerator and then asking me $79 for just saying that it is not covered by the warranty. I even gave them the model number and the serial number of the refrigerator so they can verify if it is covered. He said yes 10 years warranty on the compressor. In fact, two employees that I have spoken to both agreed that it is 10 years coverage except for the supervisor named Rachel. Her employees agreed to 10 years based on the paper that I have faxed them and it came from their website and they dont want to honor it after they sent the technician to my house. Thank you so much for your time and for reading about my grievances against Maytag employees.
Bought a stove in May of 2014. In July of 2014 we noticed a 1x6 stain inside the glass of the oven door. I called Maytag and they stated only 30 day warranty on cosmetic flaws. I said this was not there when we bought it. They asked if anything had boiled over because if liquids get in the vents on the oven door it can get in between the glass. I stated no, only cleaned with Stainless steel clear. They stated most likely when I sprayed the door it ran down in between the glass. I said that is a flaw. They said, no the vents are there to allow heat out. I asked if they also were designed to let liquids inside the glass, they said no, I said design flaw. They will do nothing. I also pointed out that nowhere in the owners manual is there a reference to this possibly happening. Our sons in laws have a 3 year old LG stainless steel with vents and have never had this problem. Maytag will not stand behind their products even when they are the ones at fault. Buy a different brand.
Maytag Model #MGR7662 range - We inherited this oven when we bought my mother-in-laws house 2 years ago. We had to get a thermometer to keep in the oven since the temperature is never consistent and is usually 50-100 degrees lower than the digital readout. We will be replacing this oven as soon as we can and it will NOT be a Maytag.
The Aqua lift cleaning system is a complete joke. Have had to replace oven light bulb 6 times in 11 months. Control panel is completely discolored. Expected far more from a Maytag product.
I purchased this at Home Depot October 2013. The oven heats well. I like the upper and lower oven feature. The broiler works fine. I rarely cook using convection. The self-cleaning feature, to this date works fine. Dislikes - the stainless is cheesy and scratches easily. The knobs on the front are of poor quality and the cook top stains easily and does not come clean. Disturbing - the gas cook top has come on twice with simple bumps and gone unnoticed for a period of time. Usually, you hear the clicking with the gas turning on, but not always. MOST DISTURBING - last night, 1:30 in the morning, I wake up to the heavy smell of gas. Neither my husband, nor I cooked that day, at all. I walked out to the kitchen (opening windows along the way) and the right front burner knob was turned just enough to expel gas, no clicking noise, no flame. This being the third incident (that I can recall), I think this appliance should be recalled. The knobs are not secure/safe enough to be on a gas appliance. Aside from the hazard described above, I too am dismayed at the fact that drips go between the glass and there is no way to clean it. Another poor design flaw.
I purchased a Maytag Gemini gas range in July 2006. Rust has appeared on the bottom of both oven doors. I called Maytag customer service, realizing that my range was no longer covered by warranty. However, I feel the paint on a range, costing over $1,000, should last longer than 5 years. Customer service told me to call a repair technician. When I asked who would pay for this service call, they didnt even bother to respond to me. As I have read other reviews of dissatisfied Maytag Range owners, Im glad I didnt waste money calling a repair tech who would do nothing to help, but charge a $100 plus fee. The paint on a car, which is subjected to all kinds of weather, lasts much longer than 5 years. You would think the paint on an appliance inside a home should last much longer. This rust is becoming very unsightly. I will certainly not purchase a Maytag product again, as the company has proved they do not stand behind their product line.
Mine is a Maytag wall oven and I purchased it because I had a Maytag Range in the house before this and loved it. It is a very accurate oven. I would rate its accuracy with the Thermador wall oven which is one of the most expensive ovens. It heats quickly and stays within the range of temperature you are using. Everything comes out just right. I like going to a Maytag dealer who knows a particular brand or brands not a large dealer of many brands. Always do some homework since brands can change over time with who owns them and who is manufacturing them.
We purchased this microwave in Jan. 2012 to accompany a Maytag double oven for our kitchen remodel. Last night while using the microwave, 2 sparks shot up out of the top of the microwave and an electrical surge noise. I quickly un-plugged the appliance. The next day I attempted to use the microwave again and dense electrical smelling smoke poured from the top of the microwave, again un-plugged the machine. I have called an appliance repairman since the 1 year warranty is up. This machine is not even 2 years old and we will never again purchase a Maytag product. PS If the problem is the magnetron (whatever that is) I will contact Maytag for the warranty information.
I purchased a Maytag range with self-clean oven. Manual says to put 2 cups of water to self-clean and no cleaning is done. I called Maytag and they said it is environmentally friendly and the rest of baking stains I have to scrub myself. This is totally unacceptable. I also cannot clean with easy off, it will damage the inside of the oven according to Maytag customer service. I do a lot of baking. What am I supposed to do now, live and cook with a dirty oven! Ugh!
Ive had my Maytag (above range model) for about 4 months. The same as everyone else with open/close door error. Faulty door switch. When the interior light doesnt come on, I know I will get the error. You would think Maytag would have already repaired or replaced this door switch part.
I have been on the chatline with Maytag customer service for two days, trying to enforce my warranty, which expires next week. My washer flooded my kitchen over the weekend, and I contacted Maytag to schedule the repair under the warranty. First, the woman, Aisha, looked up my registration, and confirmed that I was who I said I was, that my address and phone number had not changed, and told me that according to the records, the washer was purchased on 2/7/2011. Whats the problem? First, they wanted the model and serial numbers. I realized that this is important information in determining what machine needs what repairs, except there was not one sticker anywhere on my washer! Aisha said that the technician would not perform the repair, if the manufacturer did not install the model information properly on the machine. As if I had any control over the placement, or lack thereof, of proper ID for the washer. This was followed by a request for proof of purchase. I explained that I moved, and misplaced it, but I would have it emailed to me from the original purchaser. I was told that unless she could verify the proof of purchase, and the date of purchase, she could not schedule the repair under the warranty. This is despite the fact that not 5 minutes ago, she had just read this information from her computer! I asked her why would I register someone elses washer under my name and address? She didnt care. I told her I would have the receipt emailed the next day, and she stated that regardless of the date I requested, and scheduled the repair, if the actual repair took place after the expiration date of the warranty, it still would not be covered! I told her that makes no sense. I have no control over your scheduling issues. If you cant honor the warranty if the repair is made after the expiration date, then I need a date prior to that. I am entitled to the terms of the warranty, and intend to use them. Aisha said again that, without proper proof of purchase and purchase date, without proper tags on the washer, and if the repair takes after the expiration date, it would not be covered. I disconnected from her, and reconnected with another rep, who told me that some of the information Aisha gave was incorrect. I can schedule the repair, get the receipt and email it, or submit it through the chat, and regardless of when the repair was actually done, the warranty would still be honored. This person couldnt be sure what effect the lack of proper tags would have on that. My third re-entry into the chat was no better. I located a copy of the receipt in my email, and contacted the chat again. An almost amazing thing happened! This woman again confirmed all of the information Aisha recited last night, and was prepared to schedule the repair, without even asking about proof of purchase. This woman, Jennifer, was willing to schedule the repair, verify that it would be covered under the warranty, even if it was after the expiration date, because I had called and arranged the appointment before the expiration date, and she was willing to have the missing manufacture tags replaced. I had to ask her three times to review the email, and confirm that I had the correct receipt for the technician. I asked if the technician in the course of repairing the washer, had to remove the drainage hose, could he either replace it with a longer one, or add an extension, because according to Lowes at the time of installation, the hose they installed was supplied by the manufacturer, not them. Jennifer stated that since he was only there to repair the leak, and installation is not covered under the warranty, I would have to pay for him to replace the wrong hose, with the correct hose myself, even if he removes it! I told her that she needed to ensure that the technician absolutely did not remove the drainage hose from the back of the washer during his repair, because if he removes a part that is obviously the wrong part, and then replaces the wrong part after his repair, I would file a complaint every single place I possibly could. Why would a repair technician remove a part, determine that it is the wrong part, and then put it back! That is like a mechanic repairing the axle of a car, and discovering the brakes are bad, but since he is only there to repair the axle, he replaces the bad brakes after fixing the axle! He was going to be able to replace the missing manufacturer tags, though! This entire process took at least 3 hours and two days. To date, Maytag/Whirlpool is absolutely the worst company I have had to deal with, right after Sears, and ahead of AT&T. The consequences are that so far, Maytag refuses to have the technician replace the wrong hose with the correct hose, if he removes it in the course of repairing my washer.
I purchased a gas range from Lowes - Maytag- Model #MGR8880AS in 2012. The range has been repaired on multiple occasions 11/2016; 3/2017; 5/2017. All three times they replaced the igniter and burner. On one occasion they replaced the computer board as well. (Each time they have informed me that this part was a recalled problem and under warranty). The stove is now out of warranty and having same issue. The stove fills with gas and the igniter does not ignite and does so intermittently. Maytag only wants to send repair company out at my expense. They need to replace the stove, because someone somewhere will die because of their product. I will purchase a new stove and not from Maytag. (All my appliances are Maytag). I also have a copy of my receipt and will provide if needed; I used my extended warranty through Lowes each time. I urge everyone not to purchase Maytag appliances.
Maytag calls peeling paint a cosmetic issue. With a convection oven it could be a toxicity issue. Waiting for an answer to my question as the fan blows the peeling paint onto anything that is not covered. Dont put foil on the bottom as this compromises the paint due to design. Truly sorry to have purchased Maytag as this line is not the Maytag we grew up with! Old school ovens and products had the quality or workmanship to last.
I purchased a Maytag Neptune 24” front load washer (MAH2400a) and 24” electric dryer (MDE2400AYW) on October 26, 2005 from Sears in Chesterfield, MO. In April 2011, the drum in the washer began to slush and grind. Water also began pooling around the machine. I called Sears and arranged for service repairman. Before he even looked inside the washer, the repairman wanted to give me a coupon for $50.00 off a new washing machine from Sears. After my insistence, he finally opened the washer and told me I needed a new drum. Because of the Sears repairman’s reluctance to look at the machine, I had another appliance repairman review it and was told that the water pumps for this model were defective. Any loose items the size of coins collected inside the pump and damaged it. I paid $340.00 to get the pump replaced. Ten months later, the dryer started smoking. After scheduling a service call, I was told the heating element burnt out and it would cost $360.00 to replace. It was then I noticed that the washer was leaking again. I took the front base cover off and saw mold growing under the machine. A little research uncovered that this set of machines has had many dangerous problems, from mold to catching on fire. There was a class action lawsuit filed and won by consumers in April 2005, yet I was sold this model in October 2005. I feel both Maytag and Sears knowingly sold me a defective and dangerous product. I would like to be refunded for this set.
I have a major complaint with the Maytag double oven design. With the smaller oven above, if you spill any liquid while taking something out of the top oven, the liquid drips down between the two panes of glass on the lower oven door. This makes it impossible to clean. Maytags reply - call a service rep and have him make a house call and take the door apart for you and clean it. Not warranty work so I would have to do this every few months. Also, when baking in the upper oven, cakes and cookies tend to overcook on the bottom as the dishes are so close to the element.
Why is no one doing anything about the crappy product that Maytag is putting out. I am a single mom of 4 and I had to purchase a new refrigerator about 3 years ago. Spent a lot of money on this Maytag, approx. $1400 and it is now useless. I had nothing but issues with it from the time I got it. The bottom freezer kept icing up and then leaking all over my kitchen floor. I had to call a repair guy out, who charged arm and a leg and said it was fixed and 3 months later it was doing the same thing. Since I could not afford to pay ridiculous amount of money to repair it again (although I question what they said they fixed), I had to chop up the ice each month and take huge pieces outside and i had to keep towels always at the bottom of my fridge (yes very attractive) but it ruined my floor and carpet. Now all of a sudden the piece of junk just shut off and stopped working and keeps making this popping noise. Lights went out in front panel. So I had to call a service guy out again but this time I called an independent local guy that is not gonna rape you in charges like Maytag does and he told me to look into this that he has heard so many complaints that the front board with control button has been known to blow out the back circuit board, which is what happened. He told me that parts are MDs, so he would have to get another manufacturer and he heard that even with replacing both of them, it has been known to not work and Maytag takes NO responsibility at all for any of this. THIS IS WRONG. I cant afford to spend around $800 to now fix this or another $1,400 to buy a new one. So I am without a refrigerator. What a nightmare. MAYTAG, TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR CRAPPY PRODUCT. We are hard working people that spend our money and expect a good product. I also have an oven I bought and I can tell you it is a piece of crap too. I swear at it all of the time, as it takes forever to cook anything and the outside that is supposed to be stainless steel is all yoked up. It is like a tin can, looks horrible. I will never ever buy another Maytag product and I hope that ConsumerAffairs steps in and does something about this.
I have Maytag Model MGT8885XS03 Gas Range. I bought it in Nov 2013. The surface burner valves, which regulate the gas flow, are a bad design. One valve got stuck and needed replacement within first 13 month. Then another valve got stuck about a year ago and the third one got stuck today Nov 19. So far I spent $400.00, just for 2 of them and the last one has not being replaced yet. This is a safety issue, because it always happen when the stove is on and will not turn off. I need Maytag to replace my stove because I am afraid this will burn my house down. I bought Maytag because they always advertise as quality product, and now I have to live with the nightmare of burning my house down.
I bought 4 appliances - stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave. Just after 1 year, our dishwasher stopped working. Serviceman said it was the motherboard. I had to talk with a supervisor in customer service to get it covered and found that it was only a switch that was bad. Next, our ice maker overflowed with water, causing damage to our new hardwood floor. Again, I had to talk with a supervisor to get this covered and I did not file a claim for the floor. Then, our stove shut down. Repairman found that a wire was shoved into the top box, causing them to be exposed and shorting out the system. Now 2 years and 4 months, our microwave is not heating and I have to call for service. This was a brand-new kitchen that was remodeled and all appliances were new.I am very disgusted with Maytag products and their attitude of We are sorry, but there is nothing we can do as the warranty has expired. It used to be 3-year warranties for Maytag products until they were bought out. Never will I buy their products again. Have been married 40 years, and our other appliances for 38 years never failed and to find that these products are made in the USA.
We purchased the Maytag MDB8959SAS0 dishwasher about 2.5 years ago. A couple of days ago, the lights on the control panel started blinking and beeping erratically. I contacted Maytag and they said the control board likely needs to be replaced to the tune of around $250, not including labor! We spent $800 on this dishwasher and it cant even last 3 years?? Ridiculous. The only other advice the service rep. had was that we should have bought the extended warranty. Gee, thanks. I guess with Maytag, you really DO need that extended warranty because their products are junk. I think I will just scrap this dishwasher and go with a Bosch. We also have a Maytag range that needed servicing after owning it for only 18 mos. And a Maytag dryer that needed servicing after a month (at least that was under warranty). I will NEVER buy a Maytag product again... they are complete junk.
We purchased a Maytag electric convection oven with a warming drawer 3 months ago. We have been happy with the cooking features, but not the Aqualift self-cleaning. It does not work and Maytag does not acknowledge this. Instead they have offered cleaning products to us which their own instructions tell you not to use! Does this sound like a self-cleaning oven? They have offered to send out a service person to check the temperature. However, from reading multiple reviews by others, there will likely be no satisfaction from this company.
Wish I had reviewed Consumer Affairs reports. When our old Maytag stove required repairs we decided to upgrade old stove instead of putting money into old unit. Looks like a huge mistake. Not only was there a delay in receiving unit after placing order but oven will not preheat. Two weeks before Thanksgiving we were promised a working unit. Now we are only 2 days from Thanksgiving, 2 repair companies have been at home to repair. Requires new circuit board and a new regulator to repair and no promise we can obtain parts. Now I have to figure out how to feed my family for holiday. I am pretty well done and after reading other reports that they are better in junkyard I think I will try to make them take back this defective Model 8800 product. Sitting in our kitchen unusable for the holidays. Dont buy Maytag as customer service does not exist.
Bought new in 2006. From the beginning it shook a little. I could not use high speed without leaning against it and pulling upward on the unit. Maytag service workers came out and at first said they needed to balance it. That was not it. Then they said it was the drawers that I purchased as an option. Finally, one guy just straight up said they had no answer for it. Then came the day, last month, it was spinning and suddenly it started to rock and I ducked out because I thought the tub was coming through. I seen smoke. Yelled for the kids to get outside. With the phone in one hand calling the fire dept, I ran for the electric box & started throwing switches. Fire dept said that is what saved my house. Now it sits in my dining area because of a lawsuit I was never contacted about. No parts are available. Thats what happened when Maytag chose to send the business to China. Now they are back to making them in the USA but why would I buy again from a company that does not make good? Well I love blogging and Facebooking. I know 40% of Central FL because Ive lived here 60 years, plus my husband serve all of Orange County 35 years. This review will go out all over. Anyone need a tall table?
I bought my Maytag Bravos washer and dryer set about 3.5 years ago when I moved into my home. There was a 20-year old set here that did work, but I wanted something newer and more efficient, so I donated the old set and bought these. Performance of the washer has always seemed mediocre, clothes dont get as clean as I think they should, whites are dingy, despite using hard-water additives and the correct HE products.A few months ago, the washer started a new behavior: stopping during the initial fill cycle and displaying an F1 error. I soon figured out if I hit cancel then start again, it would resume filling and proceed with the cycle. Over time, I had to repeat it more and more. Its now up to ten F1 errors both at the beginning and end of the cycle. I dont have that kind of time to babysit my washer. I already have a full-time job.I have called Maytag/Whirlpool twice now, both times getting unsatisfactory answers. Even after escalating to the customer service supervisor, I was basically told that it is most likely the control board that is the problem and since Im no longer under warranty (that washer ‘is’ almost 4 years old, maam), Id either have to order the part myself from their supplier (total cost $250 + the risk of DIY), or buy their service package for about $350 which included fixing that problem plus one additional years warranty.I pointed out that for a major household appliance that I (over) paid for, I expect a life of more than 4 years, especially since I had a working 20-year old washer when I moved in here. Since when is this acceptable? I could understand if it were a wear-and-tear part, like a rubber seal or something that moved constantly and would eventually need replaced. But this is the electronics module, something that cant (or at least, shouldnt) be worn down or broken by use or even user error. This is an integral part of the machine, and if it has a fault (which it clearly does), the manufacturer needs to stand behind it and help the consumer. What angered me even further is that the customer service manager even admitted that models similar to mine had had similar problems, and a free control board was sent to those customers. But my model was not in that range of production, so clearly they have no fault, in their eyes. Apparently, its not even remotely possible that maybe when they determined the range of models they believed to be faulty, mine hadnt been in use long enough to display the same behavior? Maybe the range they selected is too restrictive and they missed some. From the volume of complaints Ive seen online, Id bet that to be the case.I asked to be transferred to their legal department, and was refused because we just dont transfer customers to the legal department. Well, I just dont buy Maytag or Whirlpool anymore, and Im going to do my best to make sure nobody else does either. Im replacing this ** with a different brand, one Ill be sure has tremendous reviews and a manufacturer that will stand behind it.
We purchased a Maytag Front Load Washer in April 2011. We did not purchase an extended warranty. From the beginning, it didnt seem to clean as well as our 12 year old top load Whirlpool had. Then in Summer 2013 it began to create fabric pulls in fine fabrics - tablecloths, blouses, etc. Whirlpool sent a repairman who charged $90 to tell us that the drum needed to be replaced because of a rough spot. He ordered a new drum and we understood that it would be replaced because it was within the 5 year manufacturers warranty on drums, but we would have to pay for installation. 2 months later, Whirlpool informed us they could not supply the new drum. Why are replacement parts not available for a 2 year old machine? The customer service rep told me that they would replace the machine for 15 percent of the cost of a new machine. All I needed to do would be to pick out a machine and let customer service know the model number and they would make arrangements and contact me re: payment of the 15%. When I contacted them again I was told that I would be expected to pay $508.00. That is 15% of a $3000.00 machine. It it completely unfair. Later, I was told that the first rep I spoke to must have been wrong because they dont pro rate replacements on a percentage basis. I told them that I was not interested and they have lost a good Whirlpool customer. In the last 15 years we have purchased 7 appliances made by Whirlpool. Never again! I am not impressed by their customer service.
Model mdb7749sbm. Unit is just over 1 year old and fails in the same way everybody else in complaining about. Here is my question, this failure mode is obviously a designed in feature providing planned obsolescence to the device. Why is this company not being held to account for the damages in this case? Are all the judges that bought that no suit can be brought?Have all of you contacted your state consumer protection organizations regarding this issue? I would also recommend that you write both your state senator, the state consumer protection organization and any media outlets you can think of. High rate of control panel failure, devices activating by themselves when people are potentially away from the house, risk of fire or flooding... these are serious things and I would think a story that some news organization would surely be interested in digging into. Now that would serve to light a little fire under the Maytag organization if something like that was to occur. This sure seems to me to be a defrauding of the consumer - selling them a product at the top end of the price range that has such a significant design flaw that in the end can only be considered not fit for purpose. I havent yet contacted Maytag and Home Depot (who I believe are fully complicit in this as well), but I will be doing so to give them a chance to make this right, which I fully expect them to decline to do. Then I will begin writing letters. Am also considering small claims court. But above all, do not just accept this and move on! Companies like this need to be held to account, and they need to be reported so that others purchasing new devices in the future know to stay away from them.
Also purchase the Maytag MMV405DS-1 over the stove microwave and in less than one year the light kept going out and the unit functions at no regular frequency. The unit is now out of warranty but service is coming to look at the problem again this week because we reported the problem within warranty. Maytag needs to be accountable for selling a lemon which I can only guess has a bad motherboard that they do not want to replace.
Maytag wall oven Model# MEW7530AB01 - We ordered this oven from Home Depot on Aug. 28/13. It was delivered on Sept.7/13. After a self clean cycle, the oven failed on Sept. 24/13. It was repaired on Oct. 23/13. Parts come from U.S. Im in Canada. Part # W10545255. It hadnt cleaned completely so I used the self clean mode again on Oct. 24/13. Oven failed. Fixed again on Nov. 15/13. Same part. Tested self clean again. Oven failed. Repairman fixed a different part. Thermostat #4449751. Oven still not working, had to order the front fuse again. Part # W10545255. Fixed Nov.19/13. Failed again Nov. 19/13. After not having a working oven for so long, Maytag finally agreed to send a new one. It arrived Dec.5/13. Tried cleaning cycle just to make sure. Oven failed. Same part. Called Maytag, told them I just wanted my money back. They refused. They would only repair. I agreed to have a repairman from another company come out. I told Maytag what part it was. They sent the repairman out on Dec. 19/13 with the wrong part. I called Home Depot a second time. I had called them after I talked to Maytag. This time Home Depot said they would take back the oven once it was repaired and I could have a store credit towards another brand. The repairman fixed the oven on Jan.9/14. Home Depot picked up the oven and replaced it with a GE and I love it.The part failing is a fuse in the top of the oven right at the front. Both repairman noted that a lot of heat is in this area during a self clean. When two ovens are having the same problem, I come to the conclusion that it is a design flaw and should be recalled. I only talked to one person at Maytag who was polite on the phone. That was the woman that got me the new oven. Everyone else was rude and hostile. I was even asked why I would clean a new oven. My experience was not a pleasant one at all. I wont be buying any products made buy the Whirlpool Corp. again.
I purchased this range from a Maytag outlet in Nov. 2006. No problems with it until Nov 2015. The oven igniter failed. This was serviced locally and replaced in an efficient manner by the local service tech. All is good until 2 days later when I decided it is time for an oven cleaning cycle. I set the cycle for Medium Soil (3hrs). After the conclusion of the clean cycle, the oven (bake) would not work. Called Maytag service, the service tech replaced burned up oven wiring as well as the igniter again. However, the cleaning cycle had taken out the gas safety valve control as well. I am now told there is no replacement oven gas safety valve unit available anywhere. I even called Maytags 1-800 number and searched online only to find the part on backorder and not available.I find this particularly frustrating in light that I spent over $1200 on a Maytag product I thought would bring way more than 9 years of service before it is deemed unrepairable. The average gas range lifetime is 18 years. In my opinion, not a good return for the investment. Its a shame because the rest of the range works and looks fine, which is now destined for the dump. I am replacing the Maytag with a $550. Frigidaire with manual cleaning. Will never buy another Maytag appliance or a self cleaning oven again. If the self cleaning feature has the potential to fry the controls, why would they offer such a feature, or why couldnt they warn one of the potential failure.
Maytag Oven MGR8670WS1 - Purchased in the Fall of 2011 (along with a fridge... also faulty the freezer stopped working within a year). Ive had the oven stop working twice (in 2012). This week (spring 2014) would be the third time. It seems to be a faulty ignitor already replaced having to be replaced yet again. I have never used such faulty appliances EVER and never AGAIN. This is absolutely ridiculous.
I purchased a Maytag Bravos XL Commercial Technology top loading washer, model # MVWB850YWO, in May 2012 and it was delivered in August 2012 due to a home purchase not being consummated. Anyway, I bought this washer and the matching dryer at Lowes and purchased a 4 year extended warranty with Lowes. This would cover me with a warranty through August 2017. I had some problems with the washer while under warranty and had it repaired at least twice. I have had, and still do, have a water leakage in the washer. The water when dispensing into the detergent compartment splashes over and you would think it would just go into the tub. Someway the water leaks down the inside of the washer and runs out onto the floor also causing rust to the inside of the front panel. The resolution was to turn the water pressure down on the supply lines. When this was done, the washer would quit running due to not enough water being dispersed into the drum. A replacement seal was installed and I still have the same problem. The repairmans final resolution was to put tape over half of the detergent dispenser to hold the water in the detergent dispenser and still allow me to put detergent in the dispenser. So, a towel is in front of the washer to soak up any leakage. Now, just 5 months after the extended warranty expired, the bearings under the wash tub are starting to roar during the spin cycle. I contacted Lowes service again and basically I am out of luck. The repair cost is expensive, the part and requires 2-3 hours of labor. I decided to chuck this washer and buy a new one. My wife found one that has an agitator, unfortunately another Maytag, and wants it as she has said the Bravos washer never seemed to get the clothes clean (due to not having an agitator). When checking online for references on a new washer and any recalls on my current washer, I discovered other Bravos XL owners having the same problem with the bearings in the tub. I contacted a local business to try and sell it to him for cheap and when I told him what was wrong with my washer his reply was, I have one just like it out back with the same problem. Dont need two problems. Cant even get rid of a Maytag washer due to it being junk. Many other reviews have listed problems with Maytag products especially since Whirlpool bought them. The Maytags of today are not your parents Maytag. Used to be the Maytag repairman sat around his office waiting for repair calls. This has changed considerably since Maytag sold out to Whirlpool. After doing some research, it seems Whirlpool has bought just about every company selling washers and dryers and are making them as a disposable item. I would advise not purchasing any product that is under the Whirlpool corporate umbrella as I feel whatever they buy, even a superior product like Maytag, they cheapen the product and try to benefit from the name, as in the case with Maytag. So, no more Maytag or Whirlpool products for me until they have proven they can build a quality product once again. Hello GE!!!!
I have always stored clean dishtowels and oven mitts in the storage drawer of my ovens (for over 50 years). I bought a new Maytag (2 days old) and was cooking in the oven tonight. I opened the drawer to get a mitt and it was on fire!! I am shocked. How dangerous is that! I looked over the manual and there is nothing that says towels cannot be stored in the drawer. It was literally on fire. I emptied the contents of the drawer into the sink. Has anyone else had this problem?
I bought a Maytag Bravos Quiet Series 300 washer just over two years ago from Home Depot. The control board and sensor went out last week. The service technician seemed rather surprised that a newer machine would have that kind of non-wear-and-tear problem and suggested that I contact Maytag/Whirlpool to see if they could help offset the parts costs, as the repair was going to cost over $600! The customer service agent I spoke with said that there was nothing they could do because the item did not have an extended warranty. I explained to her that we purchased this unit, even though it was out of our price range, because we were told that it would last a lifetime. I would have been happy if it would have just lasted 5 years! She was very detached and it was clear that Maytag/Whirlpool was not going to stand behind their product. I will now take the repair money and go buy a new washer. You can be sure that it absolutely will not have the Maytag/Whirlpool brand!
I have written to Whirlpool about complaints with this range and was very dissatisfied with response. The following were complaints on above range: Range does not have a light on it as the past ranges had. It is very much needed. Grates on burner are to high, therefore it takes longer for items in pot to heat up. Type of steel used on range is very thin and tiny, in other words very poor quality. This is what has happened since Whirlpool bought out Maytag. Quality of Steel that Maytag used is no longer since Whirlpool took over their products. This is true of All their Appliances (Refrigerators, Washers, Dryers, and Ranges). All meaning appliances manufactured by Whirlpool.Manual knobs for turning on oven have been replaced by touch screens, these eventually wear out and are very costly to replace. If it works why change it. Drawers on bottom of range used to be larger, now they are narrow and smaller height wise. Residue on base of burner appears quite frequently and has to be cleaned even if no overspills occur. And why cant Whirlpool make quality merchandise as good as Maytag use to make. Regarding the physical appearance of Range it is very attractive in looks, however Looking good and functioning poorly with inadequate materials used in construction of Appliances outweighs benefits of looking good. My wife and I regret not returning this appliance within 90 days of purchase. In the future we will not purchase Whirlpool or any other appliances manufactured by them if that is possible. Kenmore, LG and perhaps other appliances parts are made by Whirlpool. I received a response from Jake **, Whirlpool Corporation, Executive Office. The Comment from Jake that did not impress me was this: While we regret you are dissatisfied with the current design of your Maytag Range, this is the model that you selected. His comment says too bad better luck next time. Letter was dated March 5, 2014 received on March 13th or 14th.I sent a handwritten letter to Mr. Jeff Fettig on March 12th which was written on March 11, 2014. No response to handwritten letter to Mr. Jeff M. Fettig. Verification that the Executive Office that my email to you Mr. Jeff Fettig Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Whirlpool Corporation was received on February 20, 2014 by Delores **, Corporate Office Staff. Supposedly Mr. Jeff Fettig.
We had a Whirlpool stove/oven for many years, and it was finally time to trade it in. Everything about that unit was good. While shopping for another Whirlpool, the sales rep told us that Maytag and Whirlpool are one and the same. That we found, is false. An important feature for us in an appliance is the self cleaning oven. The Maytag oven had to be leveled four times after it was installed, in order for the self clean feature to function. The self clean part is only a small indented portion of the bottom of the oven, not the entire oven. And even that does not clean. After going through the dealership service about this problem, I contacted Maytag. My final frustrated summary to the rep was that I understand that we bought a lemon, and you are not going to help us in any way. I just want to say to anyone considering a Maytag stove and oven, raise your standard. If you choose Maytag, you will only be disappointed. I am.
I have a self cleaning Maytag electric stove. I discovered the self cleaning starts after so many times of using the oven. But the stove didnt give me warning of this when I put my Thanksgiving turkey in the oven. Halfway through cooking, the oven door locked and went into cleaning mode which scorched my turkey and could have possibly caused a house fire. Also, my top burners have a mind of their own, while cooking they turn up on their own. This stove is very dangerous.
This oven has been used so very seldom that I didnt feel I could rate it until now. We use the oven 1-2 times a week since purchasing it in March of 2018. There hadnt been any reason to use the Self Cleaning part of the oven until last week. I have had a oven with self-cleaning for 20 years and the oven went out so we purchased this one because of its sleek look and features. However last week I decided to use the self-cleaning setting on it and came home after being gone all day to find that the house smelled like it had a fire burning in it. I ran to the oven to find the whole inside cover in a white powdery substance. It looked like a snow blizzard had gone on inside of it. I was use to a small amount of white residue being inside the oven after it finished and it just wiped right up. We spent hours vacuuming it out then scrubbing it down with vinegar water and a sponge with a scouring pad on it. The casserole spill was still on the bottom, most of the enamel is gone and the glass will not clean off. I did not use any chemicals in the oven prior to turning it to the self-clean mode, I believe that it overheated and burnt the enamel off and distorted the glass. Whirlpool offered to send me a cleaning kit. I told them that would do no good. I had already scrubbed and used a razor blade to try and clean the bottom and the glass and them sending me different cleaning supplies would not fix the fact that 80% of the inside protective coating on the oven is gone. Now it is a porous surface. A Serviceman was scheduled and he called prior to arrival today and asked me to explain what was going on with my oven. I explained and he said I can almost guarantee that Whirlpool will say that it is cosmetic and they only cover cosmetic for 3 months and that I will have to pay for a $100.00 service call. This is a load of crap. This coating is part of the oven to keep it clean and protect the metal from the high heat of baking in it. This is not cosmetic feature like the outside stainless steel finish or the black trim decor. The inside doesnt look pretty. It is a function. See the photos below. Whirlpool Range Item # 805150. Model # WEE510S0FS.
Shortly after having this appliance custom wired and installed into the kitchen cabinets above our gas range, we found that the microwave no longer worked. The window where the digital clock shows the time instead Showed SE. I hit the clear button and the microwave once again worked. This happened again on many occasions and the clear button corrected this malfunction. Now this has happened once again but nothing Ive attempted clears the System Error or reboots the microwaves brain. Ive contacted many appliance repairmen but as soon as I mention Maytag they inform me not to repair the microwave as it costs more to repair than to replace. Ive attempted to purchase a new circuit board and repair it myself but no one has the part available. This appliance was purchased in April, 2009. Can anyone recommend a Microwave Brand as a replacement for this disappointment?
This has the aqua cleaning technology, sounds real good. DOES NOT WORK! The cleaning is done by you as you nearly climb into the oven with a plastic scraper which they supply to scrape prior to the cleaning cycle. Then after you have used the distilled water in the bottom of the oven during the cleaning cycle (steam), you climb back in to wipe out the water and use something similar to a magic eraser to SCRUB the oven. Here is the real kicker....during the cleaning process, in between the glass (in the door) you develop water spots that cannot be cleaned unless you pay to have a service technician come out and tear it a part to clean it. According to Maytag THIS IS NORMAL and is proven (by their engineers without any documentation for the customers to be able to see) to be normal?? The consequence is a brand new stove will never be clean and it is the first thing you see when you come into my house. I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!!!!
Stove does not heat evenly in oven. Electric burner cannot be turned down to low or simmer, then it will not cook at all. Other burner turned down to low does not stop bubbling and stays at a high temp. There is no consistency. I am extremely disappointed and curse at this stove every day. Model #MER7664XB. Serial #R13316302.
I bought this after having a Frigidaire for 40 years and was immediately disappointed upon installation. This OVEN, not a range, was smaller inside and a lot of new pans would not fit! I have replaced the burners and the bulb wiring several times. Would not buy another one!
I bought my Maytag Bravos washer and dryer set about 4 years ago when I moved into my home. The performance of the washer has always seemed mediocre. Despite using the correct HE products, clothes dont get as clean as with other washers I owned. Many times the washer becomes unbalanced, gets the UL code and I need to move my clothes around to get it running again. A few months ago, the washer started a new behavior: stopping during the initial fill cycle and displaying an F1 error. I soon figured out if I hit cancel and then start again several times, it would resume filling and proceed with the cycle. Over time, I had to repeat it more and more. I read about other complaints and suggestions on the internet and tried pulling the plug for a few minutes to reset the control panel as well as turning off the breaker to reset the machine. After troubleshooting the problem for 15 minutes or longer, the machine eventually runs. Then I can run subsequent loads with no problem. After a week or longer of doing no laundry, when I try to start the machine, I need to go through the entire process of canceling the wash load and terminating electric power to reset the machine. I have called Maytag/Whirlpool and got unsatisfactory answers. I only wash two to three loads of wash about every ten days and sometimes even less. The 800 number for Maytag was automated and would only schedule a repair without asking about the specific problem or being able to talk with a person. There was no way to cancel the service call scheduled and I had to call another 800 number to finally speak with a Whirlpool representative who tried to help me. She connected me with A&E Factory Service to cancel the service call. Both representatives stated that most likely the control board is the problem and the cost for diagnosis would be $130 plus the cost of parts, which could run from $200 to $400 since Im no longer under warranty. I canceled the service call as the cost of repair would be easily be almost half or more of the cost of purchasing a new (and different) machine. This is the electronics module, something that shouldnt be worn down or broken by use or even user error. This is an integral part of the machine and if it has a fault (which it clearly does), the manufacturer needs to stand behind it and help the consumer. The customer service manager even admitted that models with other model numbers had had similar problems and a free control board was sent to those customers. But my model was not in that range.”I had purchased a Maytag Bravos dryer at the same time as I purchased the washing machine and the dryer had a problem within a week of the warranty expiring. A service repair person came to my home to repair the dryer as it was barely a year old and I did not use it for several months that year (due to other reasons). From the volume of complaints Ive seen online, the Maytag Bravos washing machines should have been recalled and repaired or replaced free of charge.
In my owners manual, the description to replace the oven light shows a simple process of removing a glass bulb cover within the oven itself and then unscrewing the ordinary looking light bulb. However, Maytag made a design change and now uses a complete unit that combines the bulb, the glass cover and the bulb holder. This requires you to pull the stove out from the wall, open up the back of the oven, bend some retaining tabs around the light unit and then remove the whole unit. The killer is, Maytag has made this disgusting, usurious design change in order to force you to pay over $50 US plus taxes and shipping for the replacement unit, instead of $6 CDN ($4.50 US) for a light bulb that you can buy anywhere and can easily change yourself in a couple of minutes within the oven itself. But now you will probably have to call in a repair guy to make this replacement for you. When manufacturers start doing things like that, its time to stop buying their products. I will certainly never use Maytag again, and Ill make sure any other oven manufacturer Ill consider is not doing anything similar.
We have had our Maytag dishwasher for more than two years. Heres how it stacks up: Energy Star rated-Yes; Noise-Almost inaudible except when water runs; Length of Cycles-long except for quick wash 59 minutes; Interior design and loading - 10 out of 10. This is the easiest dishwasher to load and it holds an enormous amount of dishes of all sizes and shapes. Adjustable and removable racks-Yes both. Everything fits including my barbecue and oven racks! Amazing. Stainless interior-Yes including silverware rack. Cleaning- 10 out of 10. Even on a quick wash (59 min) cycle this dishwasher cleans everything! I run a longer cycle just to sanitize if we have sickness in the house. Otherwise it is 59 minutes to finish. Drying-Like most dishwashers this one is only so-so in the drying department, especially on the short cycle. Without plastic containers or utensils the machine dries more completely. However, the amount of moisture remaining after a quick or regular cycle is minimal. The water tends to pool on bottoms of glasses and plastics mostly. Easy to dry by laying a cloth across top rack. Dries in just a few minutes. My only suggestion to Maytag is to work on drying technology to make the machines more efficient and effective. However, that being said, I wouldnt trade this machine for any other. It has every feature I love and a 10-year warranty on parts as well! My machine cost around $600.00. It was neither the top nor the bottom of the line.
We bought a Maytag Gemini double oven in June 2007. It has been a problem from day one. It arrived with a damaged door. They reordered and replaced it. Through the next few months, I became very discouraged with the oven. I bake a good bit and was always used to an oven with fairly accurate temperature. This oven will not reach or sometimes just wont maintain a steady temperature. After a couple of service calls, I gave up. I now raise the temperature setting about 50-75 degrees higher that the recipe requires. Naturally, I dont always get the best results. However, that isnt the thing that really bothers me. These ovens have three ignitors. About every six months, one breaks. The cost is over $200.00 each time. The ovens/broiler are highly unreliable. After mixing up something or on an important holiday, one may find that the oven wont light. Theres no warning! It is simply gone. I will never again buy a Maytag! I called Maytag and questioned them about the lemon law. I was told that the same piece had to break three times in one year. That is crazy, when the entire thing doesnt and has never worked well.
We purchased a complete, upper-end Maytag kitchen package from Lowes. So far, the MMV5208WS microwave has gone out 3 times; it was the magnetron all 3 times. The last time was a few weeks after the warranty ran out. After a lot of discussions with Lowes management, they then took it back and gave me choice of any brand. We picked a Samsung and have had no problems so far.As for the MDB8859AWS dishwasher, it was just stuck under the counter for the first 6 months of its life, because we were in the middle of a remodel and it wasnt plumbed in yet. Once we got it working, my wife loved it. Weve used it maybe 40-50 times since she was still hand-washing small sink-loads of dishes. A month or so out of warranty, it went out. There were no lights on the keypad and everything was dead. We thought it was the main control board, but it wasnt. Next, I tried the keypad, because Ive read many posts about these 2 things seeming to always go out on these models. I still have the fridge and stove, and hopefully they fare better than the microwave and dishwasher. What kills me is when I look at my old Maytag dishwasher and Samsung counter top microwave in the garage; both 15-20 years old and still worked just fine after getting replaced. It has never had a repair of any kind. I went out and spent $639.00 (it was on sale, the regular price was $799) on a ** dishwasher and it didnt even last a year. The microwave was close to $400, and it was on sale. I think my old Samsung microwave cost $79.99 when I bought it. You used to get what you paid for!
Wow, my dream oven, or now nightmare! I purchased a Maytag dbl oven MGR6775BDS in 2007. The top oven stopped working first after about 3 years and this week, the bottom. I cooked a meal on Monday and Wednesday. Without notice, it would not go past pre-heat. I have called several people and they all act as if this was a truly unique situation. Since I have been out of work, both my regular and extended warranty have expired. I had good faith in a product that carried the name Maytag and the fact that it was on sale for $1,200. I didnt know I had so much company. Yeah, I was told I could purchase a repair warranty for the sale price of $340. Oh yeah, I replaced a 20+ year old oven for the new and stainless dbl oven of my dreams.
Purchased a Maytag Electric Range on Jan/9/2016 and delivered Jan 12/2016. To start the Aqua Steam clean is for the birds. Does not clean worth a darn. Model MER8600DH cost $823.33 and I thought this unit was awesome until December 2018. The oven makes loud bangs and it’s not metal contracting or whatever. I stopped using my oven. Tonight my top burner started snapping like an arc or short. Yup that’s it for me. I was thinking of buying a Maytag Gas Range as I was brought up on gas and I have a plumber coming this weekend to plumb for Natural Gas but after reading all the negativity on the gas ranges as well I absolutely will not be buying a Maytag now or ever! I expected more from Maytag. :(
I called Maytags customer service about an over the range microwave that was bought 2 years ago and barely used. The mechanism in the microwave on the latch for the door, clicked into the body of the unit and therefore the door does not register closed which doesnt allow it to come on. After explaining this issue to the customer service rep, she insisted that the only thing that Maytag would stand behind was the part if needed. A service call would be between $100 - $150. The microwave isnt even that old and why would Maytag not stand behind a like new unit? I bought 3 Maytag products and I am now regretting it. I had asked to speak to a supervisor and she just proceeded to repeat the same thing the sales rep did. They will only cover the cheap part if needed. What happened to Maytag being top of the line? Apparently they dont care about standing behind their products and would rather you buy an expensive extended warranty to cover their cheaply made appliance. I think they should be under review as a company. I would somewhat understand paying if my appliance was 5 to 10 years old. But its basically new. How is there no protection for customers when it comes to purchasing lemons from an appliance dealer? I will NEVER buy Maytag again and plan on selling my 2 other newly purchased appliances before they have issues. Maytags reviews on social media are terrible. All they offer are the words Im sorry and I understand your frustration. I assume thats just what they have written down in front of them to tell everyone who calls with issues. How do you not stand behind your products! I wish I could select no stars vs the 1.
We too bought a Maytag range (MER5755QAW) approximately 5 years ago. While making Christmas dinner, it quit working. The oven would not heat. Too bad it had to quit that day (or at all for that matter). Unfortunately, every single appliance I bought for my house 5 years ago is a Maytag appliance! The microwave quit last month and I have yet to replace it. I bought Maytag because for the longest time it was such a positive household brand name. Unfortunately, with 2 appliances less than 5 years old and out of warranty, I will never purchase one of their products again! I will spend the extra money and go with LG especially after reading some of the reviews on here on Maytag’s products (there are over 192 complaints on the Maytag ranges and ovens alone on this one forum).
After 2 years the oven didnt work. I had a repair fix it for $500 but if I wanted the convection to work it would cost another $800. Obviously not worth it. Now the oven needs to be set at 400 if I want then actual temperature to be 350. Now the latest - the racks are too small and falling! I just put my Le Creuset in the oven and the rack fell. Splashed everywhere! This happened at Christmas with my turkey. So bought the fridge - everything in the back freezes. Never ever buying Maytag again. Im guessing the Maytag repairman isnt lonely anymore.
Updated on 02/13/2021: Maytag stove purchased 15 years ago for about $500. Replaced mother board about 5 years ago which wasnt cheap, but otherwise, stove has performed with no problems and still looks and behaves like a new stove.Original review: Our 6-7 year old well cared for Maytag range oven recently stopped working. After a service call for diagnostics, it was determined the electronic module controlling the clock and all oven functions was dead. We were told by the Maytag service tech the module cost was 300$. That cost plus labor for less than an hour, plus the 60$ diagnostic visit came to almost 500$ which is close to cost of a new stove. The technician answered yes to my question, Do you replace a lot of these? He also said the cause may be power fluctuations making me think that surely there is a way to prevent this kind of failure. So, since the price seemed exorbitant, I wrote Maytag to inquire about causation/prevention, etc. I received a fairly prompt and polite reply with totally no explanation. I wrote another email with relatively the same results. I dont recommend buying an electronically controlled Maytag stove.
I own a MAYTAG BRAVOS XL* TOP-LOADING HIGH EFFICIENCY LOW-WATER WASHER. On 9/1/15, after reporting a problem, a service person arrived to assess the problem. His diagnosis led to a second visit on 9/8. On the second visit he replaced multiple parts, assuring us that the problem was fixed. When this proved to be false, we called for a third visit; this time a different person arrived. After disassembling the washer he found a large hole and another cracked area in the inner plastic portion of the tub. We made a fourth appointment for repairs, receiving assurances that it would be repaired at that time. I received an e-mail today (9/16/15) informing me that an additional 7 days would be required to arrange for delivery the required part. In the interim, my wife and I are forced to use a local coin operated laundry about every three days, totaling 7 visits at approximately $25 and 3 hours per visit before the next scheduled appointment. The compensation offered, 9 months extension of the existing warranty is woefully inadequate. I want the appliance replaced, as history has taught me that you are obviously unwilling or incapable of repairing it correctly in a timely manner. Additionally, I want the initial warranty that accompanies a new product extended to a full 3 years. We have paid out over $150 and wasted 18 to 21 hours of our time unnecessarily. I expect compensation for the funds spent as a direct result of the bungling, incompetence of your service staff. My questions are these: 1. Was the part defective prior to installation? 2. If so, why did the representative not notice it and refrain from installing a broken part? 3. Why was there no mention of the damage on the first visit? 4. If not, how did the damage occur? Did the service man damage it and fail to report it? 5. What caused the delay in obtaining the part? I have other questions, but will no longer spend any more time on this debacle. I cannot honestly say which is worse, their quality or their pathetic version of customer service.
We bought this range (model MER8700DS 1) March 25, 2015. Manual states when you use the oven first few times odor or smoke may happen and is normal. It also tells you this is not harmful but remove birds to another room because the fumes can kill them. Noxious fumes? Forget about the birds! Had to open up the whole house and go outside. Burned my eyes, throat and lungs. Day after day, repeatedly turned temp up to 400 trying to burn off what we thought might be a coating. No luck.Maytag got very concerned when I explained about the noxious fumes and had someone come out right away. Tech took it apart. He removed bottom (screwed in) plate that covers the bottom heating element. That plate gives the added ability to have 3 racks and make full use of the 6.3 cubic ft. capacity. Under the plate we found bits of insulation. We think that is what we smelt as it burnt up. He couldnt smell anything when he had it up to 400. So off he went thinking problem solved. Well, it still stinks. We will have Home Depot take it back. Oven takes forever to come to temp which we read in many complaints but thought thats minor. Dont know what oven to get instead since Whirlpool makes so many brand names. And other brands all seem to have their own problems.
Maytag range model mer8875ws - Glass top broke on brand new oven over most used burner then glass spider lined out from there. Wife called Maytag and they told her that it broke from the impact of something dropping on it. I guess the man was psychic because he had no picture of SO CALLED IMPACT SITE. Now they wont replace or fix range, ** Maytag. Paid 699 for range they want to charge me 900 to fix. MMOOORROOONNSS! Like ** thats how big business treats everyone now. Thats how big business treats people these days.
I purchased high end Maytag washer, dryer, dishwasher and microwave in May 2010. On Saturday 4/25/14, the Maytag Microwave stopped heating. The fan runs, the panel, display, lights, clock, and tray all work. It just doesnt cook. The Microwave was installed in June of 2010. Not even 4 years old. I have tried to troubleshoot via the instructions that came with the microwave, i.e. Check the demo mode is not on. Dont know why after 3 yrs it would be, but checked it. No help. Pulled the plug out and replaced; turned breaker on and off; checked to see if its was locked. Nothing. I then checked the door and I found that the plastic inside panel on the latching side of the door is pulling away from the door itself, which is part of the locking system. The magnetron shouldnt work if the door system isnt closing properly. The latch system is what is causing the door to pull apart. I am wondering now how much microwave exposure my family has been getting from a malfunctioning door? I have had a Microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator made by Maytag in the past. The refrigerator is 14 yrs old and still works fine. The microwave and dishwasher were at least 10 yrs old when I replaced them with the new Maytags I have now. Here is the problem. Maytag is not Maytag Corp. anymore. Whirlpool Corp now owns the Maytag brand. Prior to the old Maytags I had, I had GE fridge which was junk, and Whirlpool, dishwasher, stove and microwave. They were also junk. I swore I would never buy Whirlpool products again. Surprise.
Turned the oven on, and it failed to light. A little while later, it started leaking gas into the house. Im lucky the house didnt explode!
Electric stove range is great. It was very affordable, this stove is very easy to clean and wipe down on the outside. I had it for 4 years and had no problem with it. Would definitely recommend it to anyone on a budget. It also has a warranty which is also a plus.
We purchased the Maytag over the range microwave December 2014. Three months after installing it the door cracked. Maytag did replace the door and the repairman thought it might be due to the heat from the stove (huh, it was designed to go over the stove, where there will be heat). Now, six months after that, the layers of plastic on the door are separating and the piece around the control panel is cracked. Maytag agreed to replace the control panel but refuse to replace the door as it is only cosmetic (their words). So much for paying a little extra for what we thought would be a quality product. It seems to me that if something was made to go over the stove, it should be made to withstand the heat.
I love my gas stove. Mine is a five burner in white. Easy to clean and an accurate baking oven. Keeping the burner area clean IS a constant chore with a white surface. It would be lovely if the company made liners to catch the mess, but alas, I make my own with aluminum foil. This is an excellent stove and I’d buy it again! No buyers remorse.
Because of the power of advertising, we replaced every appliance in our home in 2005 with Maytags. Since then, weve had minor problems with the stove and dryer, many problems with the dishwasher and washing machine, and complete failure of two Maytag microwaves, the last one was only two years old. The washing machine failures resulted in major flood damage two separate times due to two separate failures. Our refrigerator, model MBB2256GEW, has yet to let us down, however, since new it makes loud snapping noises that wake us up at night. It sounds like someone banging two large sticks together. Fortunately, I can repair most of these issues when they arise, but Id much rather get some rest like the Maytag repair man...
Ive had a Maytag washer and dryer for 10 years. They have worked well, havent had any problems. I bought Maytag because of their excellent reliability, which has proven true. Design is not as modern as others, and doesnt have all the features, but overall solid reliable washer.
My oven looks like it has never been cleaned. The self clean Aqualift does not work to clean your oven. If I would have known that this feature did not work for self cleaning I would never have purchased this oven. My old cheaper oven at least came clean on the self clean cycle. Now it seems I am going to have to scrub my self cleaning oven. What a waste of money. Will never purchase another Maytag appliance.
I purchased a Maytag stove model mer7765wb in December 2011. Now its November 2014. My display board caught on fire and its burn out. How can a Maytag product go out within 3yrs. I purchased it from Sears outlet. As Sears customer I am very disappointed in this product. Thank God I was in the kitchen to put out the fire.
Our range and oven are reliable and durable. Easy to clean and have lasted a long time. I do not regret spending a little extra money to have an appliance that has lasted a long time. The oven heats up at a standard rate. The self clean function is very thorough. I have a white set. I was worried they would stain with your typical spills that come along with cooking. However, They clean very easily.
I purchased a Maytag microwave oven on July 22, 2011. It was delivered August 2. Model no. MMV4203DW, serial no. CK01001086. I paid $279 at Lowes Spokane Valley WA. I made a family brand name dinner for six in the original black carton, put the rack into the microwave, followed all the directions as the microwave was new. The carton melted inside and burned a place where the rack had rested. This melted before the time was up. I had followed all the directions. This was the first incident that was a problem. Next incident was a large bag of popcorn (microwave has two settings for popcorn--large or small). This burned the bag black before the allowed automatic setting. Third incident was another bag of popcorn, which resulted to a fire. I tried putting it out with a large lid, which now has permanent black smoke stains. The fire was so hot I could not remove the popcorn bag. I had to use two pancake spatulas to throw it outside where it continued to have flames and burned itself out. The next fire was with a baked potato. This was set for a regular potato setting. This fire was great flames. I tried putting this out with salt and a pan lid. I also removed it with a large metal strainer, an Asian type which is large, and used another spatula to scoop the flaming potato and took it outside while it continued to burn. This time the microwave burned itself out. All lights would not function so I unplugged it from the outlet. I have repeatedly told Ava that I had previously owned a Kenmore convection microwave and the only time I used the rack was when I baked something. She continued to ignore this and said that I used the rack to make popcorn, baked potato, etc.
I am writing to tell you the dishwasher sold to my family malfunctioned as a result of an apparent design flaw. I also ended up wasting an entire day for a service person who never arrived. On October 14, 2009, my family bought a Maytag Dishwasher (model #MDBH979AWW) from Home Depot. It had run beautifully until last week, when the left-hand side of the control panel went dead. I then called the Maytag service number (800-688-9900) listed in the instruction manual and scheduled an appointment with the A&E Factory Service vendor for the following Friday (July 6th, 2012) between 8:00AM and 12:00PM. Around 12:30PM, no one had arrived, so I called again. I was told by the agent that the technician was en route and would arrive at my home in forty five minutes. At 2PM, still nobody arrived. I rang again when I was then informed that my name had been strangely kicked out of the system and made available for a reschedule. Wanting to stick with a Maytag-approved business, I went ahead and scheduled the next earliest appointment available, Monday, July 9, 2012. The technician from A&E Factory Service that actually did show up reported that the entire control panel had to be replaced at a cost of $281.48. Interestingly, he added that he had seen other Maytag dishwashers with this exact same problem and recommended that I wait until the water settled before adding extra dishes during a cycle since water apparently leaks into the electronics via a small gap on the top of the inside of the door. Of course, there is nothing in the instructions warning against such.I chose to fix the machine since I didnt have the money to purchase a new one. Are your dishwashers designed to last only a few years? I truly believe that I have been duped by Maytag since this problem resulted from a design flaw. I am asking you to please look into these matters and correct any wrongdoing that you see fit. Copies of receipts for the dishwasher purchase and service repair are enclosed.
Gas double oven - range that has performed well over 12 years old with only one service call for thermostat. Very inexpensive to repair and parts are readily available. Easily cleaned inside and out.
I bought an off-white or light cream color gas Maytag stove about three years ago. When I first used it to boil some water for tea, the light colored grills turned black. And this is without cooking a full meal, merely boiling water. After a few more uses with light cooking, and a few spills on the cooktop, I discovered that it was simply impossible to clean. The glass on the oven door became discolored with the first use, and is also impossible to clean. I purchased several types of cleaning items and sponges, and nothing works. This is a disgusting stove. I hate it and I wish I never bought it. I will never purchase a Maytag anything ever again. Its the poorest and cheapest no-quality item - a total waste of money.
We purchased a Maytag gas range, only to have the paint wash off the front trim of the oven door. The digital panel went out in the second year of use and is apparently expensive to replace. After going through reviews by other owners and discussions with repairmen, it was determined that these panels only last about a year and are defective. This problem is extensive with Maytag. My brother was a repairman for them and dropped them due to poor quality of workmanship in appliances and their dishonest approach to warranties. I should have known better. Dont ever buy Maytag!!!
Discovered that thousands of others are having problems with the control panel on their dishwasher. Mine is Model # MDB7749SBM2. Looks as if I should just junk this horrible product and buy a new one (another brand, of course). My biggest concern is that I purchased other Maytag products along with this dishwasher, ie, a refrigerator-freezer, a built-in stove top/oven and a microwave. I have had a service call on the fridge (water line), the oven (gas) will indicate a set temperature (400 degrees for example) sometimes it will only be abt 200 degrees via a portable thermometer... Sometimes it doesnt ignite at all (have to reset it 3 or 4 times, the microwave has issues with the digital readouts, and on and on and on.I have only had these appliances about two years (after warranty expired) when each unit started exhibiting problems. I paid $175 for the fridge repair and am now considering biting the bullet & replacing everything as MAYTAG/WHIRLPOOL apparently isnt going to take responsibility for any defect on ANY OF THEIR PRODUCTS! Im 75 years of age, retired and cannot afford the replacement route but it looks like I dont have a choice unless someone has a better suggestion. I dont have the skills or energy to attempt the repairs myself.
Bought new glass top Maytag electric range. Only used oven 7 or 8 times when I was unable to close the door. Had to wait 12 days for Maytag repairman. Has to order new parts. Still without use of oven. Says its a known problem the hinges holding the door arent strong enough. Last stove 24 years old. Never had a problem.
We purchased a Maytag Gemini with serial number D40941338 and model number MGR6875AD826. It has been a complete disaster. The control panel keeps breaking down, and its now going to be replaced for the 6th time. I have asked for a new stove when I called the Maytag Extended Warranty Department, and they will not replace this defective product. Please help me.
Peeling of paint off the oven finish, inconsistent heating, fan goes on and cant shut off until the oven cools, have to leave door open in order to shut fan off. The paint peeling is really bad. It is right where the heat escapes from the oven, have to touch up paint every so often so it doesnt look so bad and the discoloration is covered besides the peeling.
I bought this washer (Maytag HE) almost a year ago, and if I could redo my choice, I would not choose this machine. There is no separate spin cycle. Often items are left with quite a bit of water in at the end of the wash cycle (often literally dripping as you transfer to the dryer), and you cant just rearrange them in the washer and then spin again. The only option on the washer is to both rinse and spin, which almost never helps get out more water. So you then have a heavy load in the dryer, much longer dryer time, and higher utility bills to get some loads dry, especially bath towels, sheets, jeans, etc. The washer is large capacity, but if you fill it more than 1/2 to 2/3 full (depending on the heaviness of your items) the spin cycle definitely will not get nearly enough water out of the clothes. The lid on the washer is SLOPED!The most ridiculous design I have ever seen for a washer, everything you set on top, even for a moment - laundry detergent, folded clothes, wet clothes - ends up on the floor. And the lack of agitator means at the end of the cycle, some loads that contain a sheet or any large flat item (tablecloth, etc.) the rest of the items are captured below the larger flat item that is over them like a mushroom cap. You cant tell how long the items have been like that in the washer, but its hard to imagine they are getting properly cleaned and rinsed. You absolutely cannot use powder stain removers, especially OxiClean, unless you are using the oxi cycle (much longer than regular cycle) because with any other cycle you will have white cloudy patches on all your clothes and items where the powder dissolved in the water but did not rinse out. You have to manually scrub them out, as putting these items through another wash cycle does not remove all the spots.
This review is for a Maytag Gemini MGT8775XW 30 Freestanding Double-Oven Gas Range w/ 5 Burners. I cannot believe the amount of problems I have had from this $2000+ range. Within just a few weeks of getting it, the paint started scratching off the surfaces nearest the heat. Then, the plastic cover over the digital display and controls bubbled up due to the heat of the broiler being in use. They designed it so that the heat escapes from the oven right in front of the control panel, so when you want to adjust temperatures on the control panel, you chance getting burnt from the hot air every time. The very worst design are the manual knobs for the burners on the front. They are at an angle, and if you look at the oven straight on, you see they are higher than the burner surface. A hot pan that overhangs the burner cooks the knobs. The plastic interior of the knob lacks any kind of heat resistance and actually starts to turn soft, keeping you from being able to turn off the burner at all! Most dangerous of all, the knobs are frighteningly easy to bump, pouring gas into your house. We have had this problem multiple times. Today, my dog must have wanted to investigate the top of the stove, because when I came home, the burner was on, had burnt through a pot on the stove, and was just at the ignition point for an item sitting next to the stove. If I had come home 15 minutes later, my house would be in flames right now. I am having to air out my home as I type this. I am DONE with this dangerous oven and will be shopping for a new one, and it certainly wont be Maytag.
We purchased a Maytag Gemini gas range last year in April and the extended warranty. The ovens have not worked correctly since we bought it. I never do this type of thing, however, I am just disgusted! I am going to exercise my right as a consumer to express my customer dissatisfaction and share using the social network. I dislike Maytag and even dislike A&E factory service more! I have never experienced such bad service on a new appliance. What is even more concerning and the reason I am posting this warning is there appears to be no recourse! I googled search both companies and the first things that came up were complaint pages. How sad! Buyer beware! If you buy a new appliance, research the warranty provider. It appears that Maytag has laid off the Maytag repairman and went to a lost cost unskilled service provider! A&E repairman has no idea how to fix the oven. He replaced the part. 4 weeks later, came out and walked in the house and did not even look at anything and ordered the same part again. He told us he would be back the following Friday. He did not schedule an appointment. I called on Thursday before he was due to show on Friday and A&E told me I had no appointment scheduled. They told me to inspect the parts that were shipped. I told them I would not even know what I was looking at! They told me the repairman would be back out between 1-5PM on Friday. No one showed. At 2PM, I called and A&E said the repairman must be on his way because he did not call and say he wasnt coming. But again, he did not show! I made no less than 6 calls to A&E and Maytag after that! A&E would not escalate the situation to a supervisor and on call number 6, when I finally got to an advocate, they told me to call Maytag! I have taken 4 days off as vacation to be home for the repairs and this last day was the final straw. When I researched escalating paths for both companies on Google, the first thing that came up was whole pages dedicated to complaints for both companies!
My double oven was purchased over 6 years ago. They have been served yearly and work fine. The only thing is the cleaning cycle which if used at the high temperature to clean can affect the oven temperature control. I don’t use this function anymore.
I bought a complete kitchen: stove, fridge, dishwasher microwave. Suppose to be stainless steel. All have rusted out within 6 months. Maytag does not stand behind their products. They sent me cleaners and all my appliances rusted more using their cleaners.
Eight years ago we bought all new top-of-the-line, stainless steel refrigerator, double oven range, dishwasher and microwave. All began malfunctioning within the first year: *The refrigerator began to make a loud rattle and the digital control pad needed to be replaced -twice within the first year. Within the next year the compressor had to be replace. *Dishwasher electronic control board was replaced twice, broke again and is still broken. *Microwave door handle broke off, and turntable motor broke.*Range burner ignition system only works on two burners and the shelf for the top oven does not fit -*Maytag refused to replace. Also, after using self-cleaning feature the lower oven still fills the room with smoke so it has been used very little. So, how much worse could it be? I had faith in Maytag-thats why we bought the brand.
We bought ALL new Maytag appliances for our home when we rebuilt after it was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. We got the top of the line of every appliance. Our Maytag dryer model MDE2706AYW has broke for the 2nd time and cost to repair this time forces me to replace it. The dryer felts, idler pulley and belt went out several weeks ago. Used it about a week and the drum quit turning. The repair tech said the aluminum pulley for the belt on the motor is broke. The pulley is not serviced/available and you have to buy a new motor assembly. This puts repair price on up there where replacing the dryer is the only option. We are going shopping for a new dryer today. It wont be a Maytag.2 years ago, our Maytag washer broke. The repair tech said the transmission went out and it would cost less to replace the washer than to try and repair the Maytag washer. We bought a new washer, different brand. About 3 years ago, we had to have our Maytag dishwasher control panel replaced and 2 months later the pump housing broke. Repair tech said cost more to repair than new. Replaced with different brand.Shortly out of warranty, our Maytag Microwave broke. Everything worked except it would not heat anything. The repair tech said cost more to fix than new. Replaced with different brand. All we have left is the refrigerator which has had 2 expensive repairs done on it and the stove which has had the control board and several heating elements changed. I will never buy another Maytag product.
Im furious beyond belief with Maytag. Im furious at myself for being stupid enough to purchase all new Maytag appliances when I purchased this home as I had horrible experiences with them in my former home. This concerns the Maytag over the range microwave oven model MMV4205AA. First of all, within 6 or 7 months after purchasing it while cooking a frozen dinner, the turntable just cracked in half. Maytag wanted $89 to replace it. I knew when the turntable cracked that there were more issues to come. That is not normal in any way for that to occur in a microwave.Problems continued, of course, and with each call to Maytag, they would say the same thing the microwave is out of warranty and refused to assist me. Its not some little table top thing that one can just toss out and buy a new one. I paid about $400 for it from Home Depot. Last week, without it even being turned on, it just stopped working. I checked the electrical supply and conduit to make sure that was okay. I called numerous service organizations who told me this sudden breakdown when the microwave isnt even turned on is a known issue with this model and several other Maytag over the range models. Ive called them (Maytag) three times in the last week and they refuse to provide any allowance and hear the same old thing, the microwave is out of warranty. I was willing to have them even just provide some assistance rather than replace the microwave. Ive been told by numerous service organizations that this is a known issue and that even if they repair it, it will occur again and again and Im best off purchasing a different brand, which I cannot afford. They gave me phone numbers for service organizations authorized to service Maytag products and this just goes to show how out of touch they are. They gave me one that isnt even in business anymore. How professional, not!Warning: Purchase Maytag at your own risk. I give you fair warning. Every single Maytag product Ive ever owned has been a problem. I will never, ever, ever purchase another Maytag product again. I would think just out of decent customer relations, that theyd repair this issue. To be honest, I dont really trust a repair as Ive been told it will happen again and again. There was no notice that the microwave was breaking down either. It wasnt turned on. One day, I went to use it and it just wouldnt work. Actually, I went to use the timer on it and thats how I found out it was dust. My advice is stay away from Maytag. If you read reports, there are more complaints on Maytag than any other appliance manufacturer in existence. Not only on their products, but their customer service too.
I write this as the repairman is fixing my Neptune washer. As with many other complaints, I was experiencing the awful mold smell with the only fix being leaving the washer door open when not in use. This works but for the past few years a switch on the front broke which means we have had to leave the top off the washer and rig it every time we used it. Sometimes it would work and sometimes an error code would show and I would have to just turn to spin and finish that way. At the same time in 2005, I purchased all Maytag appliances. First the microwave went out then the ice maker broke and is still broken, then the dishwasher went out and had to be replaced. Washer broke so basically the only thing that has had no issues is the oven and all happened just outside the five-year warranty. Never again will I buy Maytag.
I bought the Washer and Dryer. All I can say about this washer is that it does not use water enough to be considered a commercial type of washer. Its balance is poor also for being so deep. I have to pour a bit of water on the clothes so the sensor thinks it’s a heavy load and do an extra rinse. And I saw that on a video regarding this washer trick. But I’m wasting more water cause I have to rearrange the clothes when done. I put the top ones on the bottom and start over. To me it’s a waste of effort sometimes I just go to the laundromat. They should consider their products if we all are complaining about this they should really do something. To me the washer is really useless.
We love our Maytag ovens. It always cooks evenly and we never have HAD any issues over the past 2 years. We will always buy Maytag! It has a self cleaning option and I have never burned anything on the oven.
Have had this problem since week 2 of ownership. Even on the lowest setting, food in the fridge section is freezing and Im having to throw out fresh produce weekly. Called Whirlpool service since under warranty. The very nice service man replaced the thermostat. Only a little bit better as the temps do not range quite as extreme - only 25-46 now! I am now waiting once more for a service appointment, at least 10 days. Plus in Massachusetts they will only give you a 8-5 service window. They give a robocall the night before and you are given a 8-12 or a 1-4 time for your appointment. I also have had trouble with the meat drawer falling out of the track because the upper shelf bows with the weight of a normal amount of stuff. Now the bracket has cracked and the meat drawer no longer stays on the track when it pulled out partially (such as when you need to reach in and get something). Same thing happens with the lower drawer on the right side although the bracket hasnt cracked.
