Ive had the dishwasher model MDBH979SAB0 for about 3 years now. A few months ago I noticed the faceplate would pop out when you opened the dishwasher. I would have to pop it back in. The dishwasher was out of warranty so I decided to attempt to fix it. I took the faceplate off to realize all of the plastic tabs that screws go in to were snapped off. The only fix for this is a complete new panel from Whirlpool Parts Online to the tune of $194.17 (W10811169).The wheels also fall off the bottom rack. The push pin plastic becomes brittle over time and does not stay in the assembly. To replace the wheel assembly (there are 4 in total) is $38.18 each (W10195416V). The wheels or push pins cant be purchased separately. Both of these items are not covered under warranty past 1 year. Maytags 10 year warranty only covers the upper and Lower Racks (excludes cup shelf and silverware basket), chopper blade and stainless steel tub and inner door liner. So only a small percentage of the parts. The design of the faceplate is defective in that too much force is applied to the faceplate when opening the unit. The handle is integrated in to the faceplate. The plastic used becomes brittle over time and breaks. The panel unit (W10811169) must be replaced in entirety rather than just its housing increasing the cost of repair. To have this failure occur within the first 3 years of use is very premature. I can only assume if I repair the dishwasher I will have the same problem again. I am considering buying a new model that is designed better and comes with a longer warranty on such parts.
Top of the line $1300 Maytag Maxima MGD8100DW probably rusted much earlier before I noticed. After all how many times you check the drum of brand new top of the line dryer?? Manufacturer says not covered. Not sure but already this brand new model has been discontinued, so the manufacturer i.e. Maytag or Whirlpool take your pick found out about the defective design/part but now does not want to honor the warranty ridiculous. And one of the main selling points was made in USA (which turned out to be only assembled in USA), and the consumer reports which gave good rating but they were duped too.
Two months after my warranty expired, the motor burned out on my dishwasher. I called Maytag to see what they would offer, but they would only offer a discount on the actual part. I was so angry I was ready to buy a new dishwasher and forget about them...but I dont have that kind of cash to throw away. After going 5 weeks without a dishwasher (first-world problem) I paid for the part and a repairman to come and fix the dishwasher. Now 3 months later, the touch panel wont work. I am so upset that I wasted the money to fix this piece of junk. I will never purchase another Maytag again.
I just finished paying off my Maytag Bravos series washer and dryer, and now they are failing! The washer isnt getting dirt out and the dryer power button broke. And its not like I can use some pliers to get the switch to work, its like the part that controls the power just dropped out of existence, leaving me with a knob in my hand that connects to nothing! Of course, the limited warranty only covers the drums, not the little dinky parts that break more easily. I had inherited a set of Maytags and they were well over 20 years old (possibly 30) and they both were powerhouses. But this is terrible! I feel super disappointed that Im going to have to buy a new set after only owning these for 18 months. I know I WONT be buying Maytag ever again, though!
Worst brand ever. They both broke at the same time. Spend too much money. Never buying these brand again. Maytag sucks. Dont buy Maytag washers or dryers.
I bought a Maytag microwave in Feb of 16. Six months later, last August, it stopped working correctly (light doesnt come on, will not start, continually says open/close door to start). I have been trying for THREE MONTHS to have this fixed. Multiple calls to Maytag have resulted in nothing but empty promises. Calls to the store where we purchased it do no good - you have to call Maytag. We got 6 months use out of a Maytag microwave which we paid EXTRA to have installed. At this point I dont want it fixed. I want it replaced. The Maytag brand used to stand for durability and integrity; now it stands for badly made products and pathetic customer service. Look up my phone number on your computers, Maytag, and you will see all the efforts Ive made to get this fixed.
Same issues as many others here, had to replace the main control board a couple of months after the warranty period was up. Funny thing is though, I brought the old board into my local electronic repair shop thinking it might be worth getting it fixed in order to have a spare on hand in case the new one was also short lived... He told me he examined the board and there was nothing physically wrong... The problem he said was in the programming or firmware. Unfortunately, he said Maytag does not offer an update and there is no way to clone the newer version from my new board onto the old one so it was garbage. Seriously Maytag? Hundreds of dollars later in parts and melted groceries all because you wont issue a firmware update? Also have water leaking out of the bottom of the fridge late at night so Im never awake to troubleshoot it. Considering how sporadic it seems to be, Im guessing it must have something to do with the defrost cycle... Have to figure it out though as its starting to cause damage to the floor and leaking down to the basement :( Never again Maytag.
The Maytag has nice features but the shelves dont allow much room to adjust them and the freezer could stand to be a bit larger but overall its a good and hard working fridge for the price. Would love if those two things could be fixed without a huge price tag.
I have a Maytag dishwasher; a nylon roller for the upper rack cracked. It is held in place by a hex head screw. The roller is about $1.75. Maytag will not sell me the roller. I have to buy a complete rack adjuster assembly for $46 to replace a small nylon roller that screws in. I have had these problems before with them. I guarantee that I will never buy another Whirlpool-manufactured appliance. This is ludicrous!
The washer does not wash the clothes, period. It leaves dirt and soap in the machine along with the unwashed clothes.
I bought the Washer and Dryer. All I can say about this washer is that it does not use water enough to be considered a commercial type of washer. Its balance is poor also for being so deep. I have to pour a bit of water on the clothes so the sensor thinks it’s a heavy load and do an extra rinse. And I saw that on a video regarding this washer trick. But I’m wasting more water cause I have to rearrange the clothes when done. I put the top ones on the bottom and start over. To me it’s a waste of effort sometimes I just go to the laundromat. They should consider their products if we all are complaining about this they should really do something. To me the washer is really useless.
Bought a Maytag HE top load washing machine (Model MVWB765FW) in Jan of 2019. As I write this the repairman is banging away on the machine to replace the gearbox that had gone bad. This is the second time a repairman has been out to work on the machine. The first time was to replace a bad water pump, which was when the machine was about six months old. Maytag would have you believe that Power and Durability Come Standard. So too, apparently, are visits from the repairman. To its credit it does a good job cleaning clothes - when its working. If youre going to buy this machine, I recommend purchasing an extended warranty - youre going to need it.
Model# MVWB850WQ0, Serial# CY4070329, Type 580-02. Bought this Commercial Technology washer 2-1/2 years ago thinking the commercial model would be heavy duty. It was only heavy on the wallet. The washer started to emit a loud roaring sound two weeks ago that never happened before. It happens on spin cycle. We cant even have a normal conversation in the house. After reading similar problems and outrageous cost to repair, Im leaning to look for a replacement without the Maytag label. My 10+ year old Sears Kenmore didnt have any problems. My mistake was to replace it with a more efficient washer. I guess New+Efficient doesnt equal long lasting for Maytag. You would think a major manufacturer would put in heavy duty bearings in a washing machine. Heck, maybe the bearings are heavy duty but design shortens bearing life. Enough time spent on Maytag. Stay away!
We were offered a Maytag microwave with our newly built home two years ago. I do not know if it was a good value for the money compared to other brands as I did not price or feature shop for this oven. But the oven has worked well since we moved in.
One baffle broke off in my washer. Very disappointed in this Maytag Model #MHWE201YW00 Serial #HL20102420. I purchased this in Sept 2012. Where the baffle was hooked on had sharp fins sticking out that ruined my 2 small rugs - shredded them.
I had bought Maytag Dishwasher MDBH979AWW3 in Sep. 2009. Oct 2011, the dishwasher stopped working and the control panel had to be replaced, few days later, it stopped working again and the Thermal fuse had to be replaced. Now two months later, it stopped working again. Till this point, Ive spent a lot of money on the repairs and I wish I had used that money to buy a new dishwasher. Looks like not just the Maytag dishwashers are faulty, but even the parts they have are faulty. I will not recommend any Maytag products to anyone.
Purchased MAYTAG DISHWASHER MDB7809awm in 2011 for $719. In 06/2013 the far right 3 buttons stopped working. I contacted Maytag to see if there was an issue with this and they reported that there was not. I had the part replaced in 06/2013 at $280. It cost me 1/3 of the purchase price of the dishwasher. The repairman said that he sees this a lot with Maytag control panel issues. On 08/02/14 the same exact issue occurred. I contacted Maytag online on 08/02/14 and didnt hear back until 8/13/14 to say that there was no known issue and all they could do was recommend a repairman. I also called before I heard back via email and they said the same exact thing, there is no known issue and we can do is recommend a repairman. I am not interested in repairing. Been there, done that. Not doing it again. I researched the issue of the 3 far right buttons not working and there are several forums and discussion topics out there. I find it hard to believe that MAYTAG is not aware of this issue. If you GOOGLE the model you will see the same issue. Not only is the MAYTAG product poor, but they have the worst customer service I have ever seen.
We bought new appliances when we moved to our new house last June (2016). Sears recommended the Maytag 600S pair (HE washer and dryer). We have contacted Sears numerous time to have service people out because many times (75%) the washer does not fill with enough water to wet all the clothes and there is a layer of dry clothes at the top when the wash cycle ends.I do not believe that dry clothes get clean because they are near wet clothes in the washer. But Sears insists this is by design. Some service people tell us that the top loading HE washer will be gone soon because of the complaints but we have to struggle on. Sears seems to hope we just get tired and stop calling as their Customer Service policy. I have to dump 1-2 buckets of water into almost every wash that we do. As a side note, the 600S series has a slanted top rather than the traditional flat top. It looks cute but things fall/roll off of it. It would be nice to put things on top of the washer or dryer while doing the laundry but they roll/slide/fall off. The design is not so cute anymore. Actually, really a stupid idea.
Unsafe Maytag - We have had lousy service from our last purchase of a Maytag Atlantis washer and dryer. The washer failed after 14 months, and since it was more expensive to repair it, we replaced it. I needed to do a simple repair to the dryer today, and I had to take the front of the machine off. I found the inside too so full of lint. I believe it was only days away from catching fire. The blanket of lint I removed from the top of the heating element appeared to be charred and black, a fire ready to start in my opinion. I will not have this machine repaired. I want this fire trap out of my house. Before you ask, I must add, my wife cleaned the lint trap often. The Maytag Company has not been helpful. I will add that our first set of Maytags gave us many years of good dependable service. What happened to this company?
Bravos washer is 4 years old. Started making an extreme amount of noise during the spin cycle. Had a repairman look at and showed me the bearings and area under the tub. $400 plus in damage due to bad bearings, rust to bottom of tub and surrounding area. Four years for a high-end washer is pretty bad. Needless to say, I will buy a new unit and would NEVER recommend a Maytag Bravos appliance.
I purchased an automatic dishwasher for $660.00 on or about Aug of 2007 (Mod #MDB6759AWS3 ser # NY3417703). It was a model about to be discontinued however still carried the full one year warranty. After install one year and 28 days it failed. The tech described a faulty computer board and a replacement cost of $885.00, a cost of $215.00 more than it originally cost!! They did offer a warranty of one year after we installed the new part but at a cost of $215.00 more than we originally paid! Maytag promotes their brand as reliable. However I dispute this claim.
Maytag range model mer8875ws - Glass top broke on brand new oven over most used burner then glass spider lined out from there. Wife called Maytag and they told her that it broke from the impact of something dropping on it. I guess the man was psychic because he had no picture of SO CALLED IMPACT SITE. Now they wont replace or fix range, ** Maytag. Paid 699 for range they want to charge me 900 to fix. MMOOORROOONNSS! Like ** thats how big business treats everyone now. Thats how big business treats people these days.
Maytag 18.5 cu ft Bottom Freezer Refrigerator purchased 12/10/12. 1/12/16 the bottom of the freezer had an inch of ice that leaked onto the floor. My plumber chipped away ice and unclogged drains $97.50. 4/19/18) the same $97.50. 5/22/18 an appliance repair business installed a drain kit $148.40. This was his 25th Maytag with the same problem. A whole website has complaints about this problem. I sent a letter to Maytag and they wanted to send out their technician to find out the problem (with a service cost to me). With all these complaints, and a kit to fix it, they already know the problem but refuse to do anything about it. Maytag used to be a reputable company. No more. The customer service said I should have bought an extended warranty. I said a $1400 refrigerator should last longer than 3 years (the first leaking occurrence). I will never buy a Maytag product (nor Whirlpool that makes it).
My Maytag dishwasher MDB7749SAM is not quite 5 years old. At the end of December 2016 a bubble appeared on my vinyl floor. The plumber could not find any broken pipes or reason for any moisture to have gotten under the flooring. A flooring company did not know what was causing the bubble, moisture or the vinyl glue had failed. The floor got worse and worse, more bubbles.Called the flooring company again. Raised the register cover and could see all the moisture under the vinyl and underlayment. Plumber discovered the dishwasher fill valve had failed but because there was so much insulation on the kick plate, at the bottom of the dishwasher, it forced the water, which was in a pan under the dishwasher, to push the water to the back by the wall and under the flooring. Plumber said, the insulation acted like a dam to keep the water from showing in the front of the dishwasher. The first and subsequent bubbles, in vinyl were 3 feet away from the dishwasher. No way to tell the dishwasher had the problem. Has anyone experienced this problem? If not, take care to remove the kickplate and check your dishwasher for water problems.
This is the WORSE POS I have ever owned/used/etc.... our clothes are dirty, w/ a scummy film, really bad in most cases. Some have weird stain appear that werent there. Electric & water bills up. Have to always use deep water wash, double rinse. My clothes are wet when I put them in due to sensor fill (extra weight), also a zillion mesh bags. Clothes are getting trashed, faded so bad & smell bad. Having to use a cleansing product monthly, in one aspect, should encourage the engineers that signed off on this POS to change careers. Maytag customer service says no complaints have been filed!!! Horse **!!! $ 800.00, trashed, unclean, wrinkled to the point of almost needing to iron all your clothes. I have been going to the laundromat. Engineers should have been FORCED to use this machine at least 2 months.... good reviews my **.
Maytag never fails to please me. My dishwasher is so quiet I sometimes have to put my ear next to it to make sure it’s actually working. The inside is stainless steel (those are the quietest) and it has a child lock so my 2 yo grandson can push all the buttons he wants and he still can’t mess things up. I love the high temp and sanitize features and everything is always clean and dry when done. It seems like it takes a long time to run through all the cycles, though. That and no adjustable top rack are the only two things I miss with my previous dishwasher.
Bought a new Bravo washer and gas dryer; Dryer model mgdb980bg. Bought it September 2013. I have had nothing but problems. The dryer would run for 10 minutes then shut off saying check lint trap. Then once it started going again, it close were even damp. It wouldnt sense so it wouldnt start. Finally it got to the point where I couldnt get my dryer working so I phone repair place. The guy came out and set the temperature. Gauges or sensors were off by over 20 degrees as well our entire starter motor was shot. That was over a month ago and we are still waiting for a part that is apparently back ordered. I call today and they said its a faulty dryer and it could take anywhere from a week to two months to get the part. I am requesting a new dryer.
First we design the cheapest, flimsiest drawer possible on the bottom of the stove. Then we mount it on cheap plastic guides on a flimsy metal track. What a joke! Listen, drawers have been around over 700 years. If you cant do better than that, you need to look for another line of work.
From the beginning, the blower motor (for the control panel? never needed one before) was too noisy. I just bought the oven from Lowe’s. They sent out a repairman. He replaced the motor, but has exactly the same level of noise. It is bad design/engineering. Im going to try some other brand. One problem is that you cant listen to the fan noise before you buy the oven and install it. And there are no decibel requirements or ratings. Industry regulations need improvement. Model MEW7527A, bought new in Dec. 2012.
The Maytag Maxima XL front load steam washer is awesome. Its reliable and does an amazing job. There are so many features and settings and it makes my life easier when it comes to doing laundry. My favorite feature is the allergen setting which gets rid of allergens in my fabrics.
I have always heard Maytag was one of the best so after replacing too many washers to count in 15 years, like Whirlpool and Kenmore, I decided to spend more for quality. I figured pay a few hundred more once rather than spending $400 for a cheaper one that only lasts 3 or 4 years. That choice seemed environmentally responsible and financially as well. However, I couldnt have been more wrong. In 2016 I purchased the Maytag Centennial top loader for $500. I really loved the size of the tub and the way it looked. I can fit a large comforter in it with plenty of room leftover. I also have no interest in a front loader after reading reviews. So I thought this was going to be great! Well it hasnt been. It has broken 3 times. The circuit board twice and now the bearings are going out in the motor. I fixed it the first two times but now Im done. Im done with Maytag, Aka Whirlpool. I think it will be a Speed Queen for me now. Im hoping it wont be a dud also because they are pricey! It actually scares me to spend that kind of money. I have really lost my faith in most companies nowadays. Customer service and quality has gone out the window. I think about how much this impacts the environment! Its terrible that appliances only last a few years before they end up in the landfill.
I purchased this washer in Oct. of 2017. From the beginning, it has not cleaned clothing properly and leaves a white residue on clothing. To get the residue off, I must wash the clothing again or sometimes it will come off in the dryer. The water level is too low to efficiently clean. I thought I would save water getting this but not at the price of multiple washes... What good is that? Since there is no agitator the clothes just sit at the bottom and move back and forth as one big clump, with just a few inches of water. I am sorry Ive waited so long since I am now past the point of returning this piece of junk.
We bought the fridge (MFF2258VEW2) about 5 years ago. We have had nothing but problems. First it was the water leaking all over the floor. The repair man said the drain tube in the back was too small. That was replaced. Then the door gaskets were replaced. The doors still do not stay closed. Again water leaking all over the floor. The bottom of freezer had ice all over it. I had to take the back of the fridge and freezer. For 2 days I had a fan blowing on to defrost it. The door shelves are cracked and falling off. I had to pay for the hooks that hold up the bottom shelf 5 times and again they are broken. The long narrow slide out shelf is broken. Food in the back of the fridge are freezing. I have contacted Maytag a lot and they will not fix the problems. At the same time I bought the fridge I bought a Maytag top load HE washer and a drier. I had to throw out the washing machine last year. It would have cost me too much money to fix it. I will never EVER buy Maytag again.
I bought a Maytag front loader washer and dryer, plus the pedestals for each. In last August of this year the washer just stopped in the middle of a wash cycle. I placed a call to the customer service. The tech diagnosed and placed an order for a part and set an appointment for two weeks later, with a time window 1 to 5 pm. The person called at 5:30 to tell me he had an job before he could get to me. I had taken the day off to wait for him. I called and they ended up rescheduling, for two more weeks.. Tech came ordered different parts, tech did not show up. Tech came out again ordered new parts. Next week he arrived wrong parts. Washer still not extracting. New tech, new parts, new appointment, this was what happened throughout September and October. Tech was not happy with his job, stated that to me, would not do anything but install part, even if it didnt work. He took parts with him. The washer still not extracting. Last Thursday he didnt even have all the parts, made the decision to replace machine without discussing it with me. Told me Sears would call me in 48 hours. Received call today Tuesday. Go to Sears to have it replaced. None of the machines they offered are compatible with mine. I will have to purchase the pedestal for the new machine, plus pay the overage to get the comparable machine. Service appointment people were horrible, cold and rude. Sear store at the mall where I purchased my washer said that it was not their problem. Once we sell it you are in their hands. Have had Maytag for over 30 years. Will never buy it again. Will never buy at Sears again. Too bad I have to replace my washer with something from Sears. Not enough space to write everything I have gone through, the lost workdays, the extra expense of having to go to the laundromat, the stress of dealing with incompetent people and techs.
This refrigerator has been my worst nightmare come true. Everything existent freezes: salads, tomatoes, berries, cherries, milk, water, etc. Never again will I purchase a Maytag product. Service is non-existent.
I bought my Maytag stand alone dishwasher model # MDC4650AWB in August of 2009. I have used it once or twice a week since then. About 2.5 years ago the control panel crapped out. I forked over the $$$ to have the part replaced and installed. Now, 2 years later the panel is once again slowly dying. I just got off the phone with the Maytag people and they refuse fix it and take responsibility for the product failure. The machine has worked adequately for me aside from the control panel issues. The control panel was built to break. Shame on Maytag! Lets go forward with the class action lawsuit!!!
Dryer delivered nonfunctional. Tech showed up the following Tuesday. Diagnosis main board and one sensor dead. Tech returns following Thursday. Replacement board DOA. New dryer still nonfunctional. Awaiting new board with no functional $1100 dryer. This dryer replaced my three year old Maximus which was deemed too expensive to repair after three repairs. Please do not buy a Maytag/Whirlpool product.
As with everyone else here I have had my second control panel go here. In the five years I have owned it the first was covered by an extended warranty that I had purchased when I bought it, the tough part is I was forced to buy another Maytag at a higher price because of a recall for dishwashers catching on fire. I found out about this by accident.
13 months after purchasing MDB7749SBM3 dishwasher this lights started making no sense. For me the buttons still work, but it seems like only a matter of time until they stop working too. Like many others, I opened up the door and found the corroded ribbon connector (see photo). It wasnt damp so since the corrosion happened at the point where a ridge of plastic presses the ribbon against the hot handle, I suspect heat. Obviously a design flaw. Come on Maytag. Recall?
Purchased a Maytag Bravos top load washer and dryer in May of 2011. We had our other Maytag washer and dryer for 14 years, and they were working fine when we sold them. We saved a year for a new one. We spent $1,700.00 for them both. We assumed they would last as long as our old ones. Been buying Maytag our whole lives. Besides the clothes not getting cleaned. Besides the washer smelling, even after we clean it regularly with the product proposed. Besides it not working on the normal function. Besides it shredding our clothes if you put it on the highest spin speed. It started to make a very loud noise. Like an airplane taking off. Called a friend of ours that use to have an appliance store in Fenton, Michigan for decades. He said it was the bearings and that You have to replace the whole tub. A $300-$400 fix. And that it would do the same thing again in a short period of time. He said that they are junk.We would be better off buying a new one. He said, The ONLY one you can buy now that will last like they use to is Speed Queen. I had never heard of them. They start at about $750. But they are worth it. He said that they dont make any washers to last more than 3-4 years anymore. We will NEVER buy Maytag again. And Sears wouldnt give us the time of day. Each time we called and asked to be switched over to the recall department, we just got a busy signal, then a fax machine noise. We have shopped at Sears for years. Boy, loyalty doesnt mean anything in this day and age. Im sure Speed Queen will be happy to help us out. DO NOT buy any Maytag products. There should be a class action suit against them for this. There are thousands of us that got ripped off. I cant tell you how upset my husband and I are about this. We are retired, and on a fixed income, and I am disabled. The stress this has caused cannot be put into words.
Neptune Washer: Tears clothes at random intervals and their help desk asks for money.
My Maytag french door has worked steadily for 12 + years. It’s a basic model, ice maker in freezer. No door dispensers or electronics. I would buy it again.
I was always told the Maytag was the best, to my surprise not so. We purchased a washer at Home Depot and it’s been a bad experience. Loud noise compilation in operation. Turns on then off so many times /not sure if that’s what’s its suppose to. Can’t get an answer. Disappointed for the least. Not what I expected out from this purchase.
I bought this machine about a year ago. It does not wash your clothes good. Stains nor smell does not come out. It makes this god awful noise that can be heard throughout the house... It suppose to save on your water and electric bill but no savings for me considering I have to wash items 2 or 3 times... I hate this washer and I paid a lot of money for nothing coz that’s what it does - nothing!!!
Have a Maytag refrigerator, less than 2 years old. Water is leaking from top of the inside of the refrigerator, presumably related to water dispenser, unrelated to filter, and dispenser still functions. In shock, Ill have to pay an additional $347.00 to Maytag for an additional warranty if I want them to remedy this!!! Model # MFT2672AEM10. Buyer beware! Upset that such a new refrigerator would have problems - more upset that the company is making no efforts to make it right without charging more. The refrigerator was not cheap in first place. Also the time spent to have someone come out... Maytag advertises repairman boredom.... Never had another problem with other appliances unless they were much older!!!
Whirlpool owns Maytag and it appears that selling poorly made products is now their focus. When I purchased this Maytag 30 Gemini double oven range, I thought I was buying a superior product. Now, I am on my 3rd repair. When would it fail, on Christmas Eve morning when I am trying to prepare dinner for 20 people who are coming for dinner party. I paid too much for this piece of junk. From now on, I am buying from the scratch and dent sale because there are no quality appliances manufactured today. Buy cheap and it wont irritate you so much because no one especially Whirlpool owned companies focus on quality.
Does not rinse clothes or dispense adequate water. This is the worst washing machine I have ever owned. Dark clothes come out of washer with white dust/soap residue on them. Clothes often come out of washer dry - never touched by water in the wash cycle. The spin cycle knots the clothes into a heap. As for the dryer, pulling out the lint filter leaves lint particles all over the top of the dryer. Poor design.
I also purchased a Maytag dishwasher a few years ago. It has never worked that well. We had a repairman come out once to replace the control board but the problem soon returned. Interestingly, we found that if we wait long enough until the control panel is in the mood, the dishwasher works again and the control panel responds to button pushes, until the problem returns.I dont recall what model I purchased but it seems to be irrelevant. From reading the other customer complaints, its quite obvious that all Maytag dishwashers inherently have problems with their control panels and Maytag intends on doing nothing about it. I guess the extra repair costs that their customers have to pay for their defective products brings in some additional revenue to Maytag, so theres no real motivation for them to fix their ** products.
I have owned a Maytag washer since 1989 (25 years) that has had absolutely NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER. It now has a slight leak, so I am considering replacing it. I contacted an appliance store and advised them of my problem. The salesman made a comment which indeed surprised me. He said that, although he would like to make a sale, I should do everything in my power to keep that old Maytag machine because they dont make them like that any more! From reading the reviews about the new Maytag now I understand why! I do not plan on buying another Maytag, which really saddens me, as they were once a high quality, dependable product.
Three-year-old top load Bravos. Started doing the LD/SD tango about one year ago. Intermittent fault, but becoming more prevalent. Can spend an entire day attempting to finish one load; sometimes must be unplugged overnight to clear faults. Washer receives heavy use from extended family of five adults and two children but has never been overloaded. Machine is horribly flimsy and constructed of the cheapest possible materials. I wish I had removed the back prior to purchase.Just because it is possible to attach a processor to a piece of equipment doesnt mean its necessarily a great idea. Any geek can tell you that the three things most despised by a digital device are heat, humidity, and vibration. A washing machine by definition is an epicenter, a breeding ground, for those specific environmental factors. Well done, Maytag. You have demolished what was, perhaps, the most respected name in the business. Good luck getting that particular rep back. Purchasing a Speed Queen. The living embodiment of old-school. Electro-mechanical timer. Stainless. Porcelain-enamel. American-made. Not one complained on this site. Might just shoot an Office Space vid centered on the demise of the Bravos. This time, its personal.
I have owned my Maytag washer for approximately five years. Ive always used the recommended detergent and religiously used the tabs to clean the machine when it was required. I have never abused the machine by overloading it, using too much detergent, etc. It is now coming up with an LF code. There is no one in this area who does repairs and if I do find someone Im sure theyll want some exorbitant amount to come all the way out to the boonies to give an estimate and the repairs Im sure will be hefty. I take very good care of all my appliances and expected this machine to last much longer.
Our control panel just went out...purchased in November 2015. From reading reviews it appears our only option is to purchase a new control panel and hope for another two years. Ours (MDB7749SBM3 Dishwasher) was purchased from Sears and was not cheap. When is Maytag going to recall this panel? I read reviews that this problem goes back to 2011.
First of all, I had a Maytag for many years and could not have been happier. When it came time to replace, I did not even consider other brands. I have had my dryer for less than a month and the interior already looks dirty. I contacted Home Depot where I purchased it and reported the problem I was having and would like to return this model and purchase a higher end model assuming that it would not have the same problems. Home Depot said all appliances are special orders and can not be returned. I could contact Maytag and have someone come out and look at it for no charge. I contacted Maytag and they told me that they could have someone come out but if they decided it was just cosmetic, there would be nothing that could be done and I would be charged. I said, I am telling you it is cosmetic! Why would I pay someone to tell me that? The guy suggested I take a damp rag to clean it. I said think about all clothes that are being dried are damp!! I will never buy a Maytag again and will not buy any appliances from Home Depot!
I bought a Maytag Gas Range in January 2010. In January 2012, the wiring caught fire, and now, the oven is unusable. Maytag was not very helpful in our loss of money and product.
We purchased a new Maytag Bravos washer and dryer. The washing machine senses the weight of the clothing and determines how much water to use. The machine does not put enough water in to completely immerse the clothes, therefore after the load has washed, the clothes come out of the washing machine partially dry. I have to wash the clothes a second time therefore using detergent twice, water twice, electricity twice and my time twice to wash each load. After a while the machine stopped washing altogether. I would load the laundry, add the soap, close the machine and start the machine. It would begin to put water on the clothes and sense the weight of the clothing and it would get stuck there. I would hear a buzzing sound and the clothes have been stuck on this same cycle for over 15 minutes and it would not wash the clothes. I tried starting the machine again, and it would drain the machine. Id have to add more soap, use more water, use more electricity and use my time again to try and wash the same load. They sent out a repair company who looked at the machine, did whatever they did (and left a bunch of water on the floor behind the dryer and didnt have the decency to tell me so that I could clean it up). They said they had to order parts and they would come back. They called me several hours later and said they had the parts in their warehouse and they could repair the machine. After a while, they said they were finished and that the machine was repaired. I tried to wash a load after they left and... the original issues were still there. I called the repair company and told them what happened. I typically do laundry once a week, so out of fairness to the technicians, I told the lady that I didnt have any more dirty laundry and that I wanted to try the machine again when I had dirty laundry the next week. I called the next week and Maytag said that I had to pay for the technicians to come out, even though they never repaired the washing machine. After complaints they offered me a $75 credit towards the repair company which I refused to accept. Then they told me I could buy another Maytag machine and they would give me a discount. So basically, I would get something like $76 off of a $600 machine. Really? And then the idiot had the nerve to tell me that it was customary for the clothes to come out partially dry. So in other words, he was telling me that these machines were designed with flaws to partially wash clothes so that consumers would have dirty clothes. I asked for a replacement machine of equal value and they told me that Maytag does NOT replace machines. They sell this crap, knowing that it is no good and they arent willing to replace it! I got someone else on the phone and he said that I will not have to pay for the technicians coming out a second time to attempt to fix the machine. I AM NOT A HAPPY CAMPER.
My old Maytag is still working after 20 years but my husband surprised me with a new pair! Washers is just pure junk. Not enough water to hardly wet the clothes. They just rub together and get worn out looking, towels are rough and not soft but my biggest complaint is the AWFUL wrinkles! I have to iron everything! Only had it 3 days, called Menards and asked if we could return for an exchange or upgrade and they said no. If this is the best American Made has to offer, then I will look at the Samsung! Shame on you Maytag. Not one good review on here and you do nothing to restore confidence in American Made. I will spread the word - NEVER by a Maytag or an appliance from Menards. Neither one stands behind the piece of junk!
I love my Maytag washing machine. It have different settings for the wash, also a size load for your washing, and I love the rain cycle. You could do single runs with Downy or extra runs which is great. Especially great if you’re doing blankets and towels you need that extra rains. Great reliable machine. Highly recommended.
I bought a Maytag dishwasher less than two years ago. The Maytag repairman just informed me that the control panel, the control board and the harness were burnt and needed to be replaced with parts costing over $300. I said, No, thanks. I paid him the $99 service call fee and called Maytag to see if they would help. Nope, they pretty much said, tough luck.
We bought a Maytag refrigerator two years ago with the front french doors and bottom pull out drawer. We chose Maytag because we thought it was a name we could trust, a good quality merchandise. However, in the last two months, we started having problems when the fridge wouldnt stay cold, the freezer worked fine. We removed everything from the freezer and my husband found the freezer needed defrosting as the back of the unit was a solid sheet of ice. It took hours to defrost and we thought that we had the problem taken care of.. and that we wouldnt have to worry about this happening again. However, we have now had to do this three times in the last two months!! I love the style of this fridge..but am getting SO ANNOYED with having to rip everything out of the freezer and spending HOURS to defrost it! I have NEVER had this problem with any other fridge!! Im ready to replace it, but weve only had it for two years, and I shouldnt have to be spending a fortune on ANOTHER fridge after TWO years!!
We were sold a Maytag Neptune washer mah550bbw in 2004 when it was already on recall by Maytag and a class action lawsuit was filed against Maytag. We also bought an extended warranty. Now we have the same problems as the lawsuit. We own dry cleaners so we do laundry once a month for small articles. For the last few months the clothes have an odor and they come out looking not clean. We were sold a defective and recalled product and are not happy right now. We would like a fast resolution to this problem; otherwise, we seek legal actions.
Purchased washer March 2017 and had to get it repaired twice by the end of 2018. The top loader even with agitator does not clean clothes very well. The repairman said not to fill the washer above halfway so I can only wash about 4 pair of my husbands heavy soiled work jeans. I won’t buy another Maytag.
We bought this Maytag MFI2269DRM01 Fridge/Freezer in June 2016. We have nothing but trouble. First the center rail holding up the Fruit/Veg drawers snapped within a month then the freezer drawer would not close properly which gave us all sorts of problems (door open lights flashing and fridge staying on longer. Lights not working etc.) The service tech came out and tried to fix it and went away saying it was not repaired that he would need a new freezer drawer. In the meantime I had to push the drawer to try and get it to work right. Now the handle is loose and the stainless steel front of the drawer is damaged by pushing it in so much. This repair started in November and now it is the end of March. I asked them to replace the complete unit but they say that the warranty is just to repair. It seems like they have no parts to fix this. Then the new center rail snapped again!!! When they sent the part out to me to install, I found the main frame of the Fruit/Veg rack at the back had snapped. Everything is brittle plastic with not enough support. (The only vegetable that I think I can put in the drawers is mushrooms.) I thought by buying a Maytag that the name sold it. What a piece of junk it is!!! Will never buy another Maytag product!!!
I bought this new washer and dryer pair at Lowes August 2018. I chose this brand because of the very large wash tub (5.3 cu ft) since I have king size bedding. My previous washer was a front loader, and there were problems with the door seal molding and stinking, and loads had dry spots on them after washing. So within a very short time, I realized I hated this new washer. Very noisy, no agitator, very long cycles. You cannot adjust the time or water levels, and the biggest problem... I CANNOT REACH THE BOTTOM OF THE TUB! I had to steal the grabby toy out of our toy box to pull the wet load out! The laundry comes out all tangled up and horribly wrinkled, even when using the wrinkle-free setting. I line dry a lot of my clothes and now have to iron everything. Never had to do that before. I know Im stuck with this set, but will look forward to the day when it dies and I can buy new ones again.
Update 3/7/2018. I have been without a working microwave since 1/23/2018. Technician sent from Maytag came out to repair it and said he needed to order a new board and door switches. These items were installed on 2/26/2018 but did not solve the issue. The technician said the microwave needed to be re-wired completely and would schedule for the microwave to be removed and brought to shop where it would be repaired. After I called Maytag and explained the situation they told me they would replace the microwave (with the same model.) I called today to get an update on when the new microwave would be installed and they said not for another 14-21 days!!! After expressing my displeasure at the whole situation I was told by the Maytag representative that I could choose any new microwave model (under $399) from the lines of Maytag, Whirlpool, Armana, or Kitchen Aid. It would take about 14 days for delivery and they would schedule the installation at no additional cost to me. So now I am researching microwaves again!!! Ill update this review once the new microwave is installed.
Last year we replaced a Maytag dishwasher which had a faulty control panel after just a few years of light use (There are just the two of us). It was going to cost almost as much to repair it as to buy a new dishwasher, so we opted for an $800 model (MDB8959AWW6) with a control panel across the top of the door. There had been a recall on that first Maytag for the heating element or something, so we decided to put the credit towards a machine that would last us for years, we hoped! We have been in this house for 18 years and the original cheap builder-installed dishwasher lasted for 12 years. In fact, there was nothing wrong with it when we replaced it with the last one. Whatever happened to the lonely Maytag repair man? We did not buy an extended warranty, but I can see now that probably these things are only meant to last the lifetime of the warranty. We are semi-retired and cannot afford to have the dishwasher repaired, so it will be a decoration in the kitchen from on. Never ever will I recommend Maytag to anyone! One bad experience should have been enough, and we probably would not have bought a Maytag again had it not been for the credit we got for the product recall on the last one!
One year ago I bought a Maytag Micro-wave and a Maytag dishwasher - big mistake. I should have done some homework. I had problems with the dishwasher since the day it was installed. I should have suspected something was wrong when it was delivered. I opened my front door and there stood a deliveryman holding my dishwasher in his arms. He said, Where do you want it? I couldnt believe he could be carrying it by himself, especially since it took three of us to move out the old Thermador which by the way was still working just fine after almost 30 years. But my wife insisted on a new washer for her new kitchen. The Thermador was actually made of steel. The new Maytag was made of plastic even the motor. It had some steel and copper parts but mostly plastic. I dont think it weighed forty pounds. The problems began the first day with leaks through the door and under it. I suppose eight or nine service calls happened in the next 3 months. The factory service men were different each time and each had their own guess as to what caused the leaks. Over time they replaced all the parts that could be leaking some of them twice, because subsequent servicemen discovered that a previous service man had installed the wrong parts. We often had to wait several weeks because replacement parts were not on hand, and would be ordered and shipped directly to us. Then we would have to schedule another service call, only to find out the wrong parts came - more delays. One service man told us we were using the wrong detergent, even though it was the detergent and spot-free rinse that came with it. Another service man removed the door cover so he could watch to see where it was leaking when it operated. He said the soap was foaming too much and flooding over, so we had to try another brand of soap, even though by now we had accumulated three other brands that were just barely used. The service men never did fix the problem. It took much experimentation from my wife to stop the leaks, which meant we could only use a fraction of the recommended amount soap. By now we were using so little soap that the dishes always came out dirty. So our choice was mop up a wet floor or have dirty dishes every time. Most of the time now we wash the dishes in the sink. One service man said in Maytags effort to make the dishwashers more efficient, and less expensive to build that the motor and pump were way under powered, and everything was made from petro-chemical by-products (cheap plastic) and that we should invest in the extended warranty. Its cheaper than paying service calls when the warranty runs out soon. What we should have done was exchanged it for another brand. My wife said had she only known, we would have never replaced the old Thermador which will be my next dishwasher. As for the micro-wave there are many things I dislike about it especially the rectangle glass tray which is extremely awkward to remove and replace each time you have to clean out crumbs and spills which happen often. The timer on/off bell is way too quiet with no volume control. The message and operation display is difficult to understand. And to top it off the cheap plastic handle broke one week after the warranty ran out which I found out that its less expensive to buy a whole new door than pay for parts and a service call to repair handle. Maytags track record made me not want to deal with service dept. again. I will probably be money ahead to trash the two appliances, start over and do some homework and maybe buy a European made appliance. I know German technology is not all about profit making, but quality, reliability, durability. I hate to sound un-American but greed in American corporations will be their downfall.
We purchased our Neptune washer and dryer combo MLG2000AWW from Circuit City in 1999 for $1900 also purchased the extended warranty. Here we are 15 years later and time to replace with new Samsung units. Besides having the main bearing replaced after 6 years in service, and having a sensor and a switch replaced on two separate occasions all covered by the warranty, our Neptune provided exceptional service throughout the 15 years. My understanding was that Maytag was bought out and run very poorly in the early 2000s as our unit was produced prior to that time... when Maytag was Maytag.
I purchased a Maytag side-by-side, model MSD2656DEQ, in June 2000. First service call within a couple of months was for a very noisy ice dispenser, which the tech said was normal. Other than the noise, the dispenser has worked fine. Aug. 2005, the freezer frosted up and the tech replaced the defrost timer and defrost thermostat. May 2010, I had the same problem again and again these two parts were replaced. This morning, I found the food thawing in the freezer, 3 1/2 yrs since last repair. It is Sunday so will have to call tech tomorrow. Third repair in 13 years for a $1500 (2000 year dollars) Maytag. I have never had an appliance with so many problems and it was the most money I ever spent on an appliance. I am done buying Maytag products.
Our $1,000.00 Maytag Bravos is only 4 years old (also bought the matching dryer at the same time). We have had to purchase two new motherboards for the washer and now the uL, during the spin cycle, comes on and my clothes will not spin out. I have followed the manuals directions to unplug, wait, replug, redistribute, etc... all to NO avail. So very disappointed with this machine. Bought it because it was a Maytag, but will never buy another :( I had this machine repaired with major amount of parts and expense (due to the uL problem), BUT the uL code still keeps coming up. I am one really unhappy customer.
I am extremely dissatisfied with the Maytag Gas stove and oven. The setting are too high and you cannot simmer something, it burns. I tried the oven cleaner and my oven is still dirty. The burner knobs do not have a click feature. I came home to a house filled with gas. I was not using the top burners, so I must have brushed up against the burner knob while using the oven. I was only gone an hour, imagine if I had been gone longer and walked in the door and created a spark on the rug.
I have a Maytag Range that I bought new and installed 6-1/2 yrs ago for over $1200.00. I am single so I rarely use the ovens. The upper over I use maybe 1-2 times a month and the lower oven I may use once a month. The night of 3/7/2016, I used the cleaning cycle set on medium for both ovens. Yesterday, when I went to wipe the ovens down, I found the lower heating elements, on both ovens, had snapped. The top ovens lower bracket had broken in 2 places, the first break is about 2 from the connection, on the right side leaving about an 7 gap. The lower ovens element had broken in only one place about 2 from where it connects into the back of the oven. This has to be a flaw in the either the design or the material. In the 45 yrs that I have been using ovens and stoves, my last stove was over 35 yrs. old, I have never had a heating element break. While I can understand a break at the connection, I can see no reason that the it would break in the center of one side on both lower elements in the same oven. I also noticed that lower heating elements are a much small gauge than the top which I find strange. The other issue with the stove is the seals around the windows are not tight. I noticed dust was inside the two glass panes. The rubber seals were sunk down into the door, but Maytag said it was not their problem that I must have done something. When I remodeled my kitchen, I bought all Maytag products: 1.H20 Frig - The electronic panel went out after 3 months and had to be replaced. Manufacturing Defect - When the repairmen came to fix it, he told me to call Maytag which I did. They refused to pay for the repair because I called a repairman first, even though the business was Maytag certified. Even though I said I would cancel the service call they said because I had made the appt. and they recommended I call Maytag, they would not cover the repair. 2. Stainless Steel Dishwasher (Cost over $700.00) - Motor went out after 3 yrs. 3. Microwave/Convection Oven (above the stove)- Convection light out after 4 months. The replacements are not inexpensive. One other complaint I have is when I bought all my large kitchen appliance Maytag had a $600.00 rebate offer. Even though I mailed all the required documents to the company over 2 months before the rebate ended, I never received my rebate. The explanation I received was that the center that received my documents delayed forwarding them to the proper department that processed rebates and they were received after the offer ended. When I questioned the legality of the practice, I was told that this was all explained in the Terms and Conditions (ie: small print).
Turned the oven on, and it failed to light. A little while later, it started leaking gas into the house. Im lucky the house didnt explode!
After having issues with bearings in a front load of another brand, we decided upon a top load Maytag. We have had it less than a year and we are not happy with the performance. We are using more detergent because the dispenser seems to be bottomless. Only the front of the little pull out drawer is visible and it never seems to reach the fill line when adding liquid detergent. There is no quick wash cycle. Not everything needs a cycle of nearly an hour or more. The spin cycle does not remove nearly as much dampness/water as our previous frontload. The drum is deep making it difficult to retrieve small items such as socks. My biggest disappointment is finding lint residue on the clothing and it remains even after an extra rinse. This is especially visible on dark clothing. Even the lint filter in our dryer fills up much more quickly than before. After researching, I found that others complained of this same problem.
Replaced a Maytag Bravos xl washer and dryer in 2015. First year was fine but almost right after the warranty period, the spinning cycle was loud. You cant even have a conversation near the washer. I put up with it after calling the repair department. Because I was told that it will cost as much to repair than buy a new washer. Now the washer does not drain when a small amount of cloth are in the washer. Dont buy this washer and dryer. Maytag is not as good as it once claim.
Maytag Centennial HE Washer - Worse machine ever. Takes over an hour for a load of clothes, never clean. Had only for 18 months now, it wont advance past wash cycle.
Unless you’re doing laundry for an army don’t buy the Maytag commercial washer MVWP575GW. I should have gone with my original choice but my husband was concerned with the durability and warranty hence why we purchased this washer. It’s just the 2 of us and I frequently use the delicate cycle. Unknown to me at the time you can not adjust your water level so if you’re washing delicates plan on wasting a lot of water unless you only wash your delicates once a month. In my opinion delicates are undergarments, blouses, etc. delicate cycle in “deep water wash” only. As far as we can tell the wash cycle at its longest is 8 minutes which I guess for commercial grade is probably correct. However there is a presoak option that I don’t the believe does the work of a longer wash cycle. If you have to do a quick scrub on a piece of clothing as the washer is filling up you can not do this as everything stops once the lid is up.Last but not least the washer is loud it sounds like it’s going to break down at any minute. I’m sure many of the issues people have with products today are due to government regulations. I’ve tried contacting Maytag customer service on numerous occasions to see if I’ve been doing something wrong even though I’ve read through the operating manual several times, I’m currently on hold for 20 minutes. Doing the laundry has never been the highlight of my day but I never minded it until now. I absolutely dread it now. My suggestion would be if you like the features on your current washer, spend what you need to to get it working properly which is what I wish I had done with my 23 yr old washer. Worst purchase I’ve ever made!
I love the bottom freezer & refrigerator on top. Its so convenient... but it really could have a little more refrigerator space though. I love the stainless steel. It makes the fridge look regal. Also, the fingerprints do not show.
Our Maytag Elite Series dryer is not under warranty but we have had nothing but issues with this dryer since we have had it. However, now I have holes in the heat intake at the back of the drum. This is so very dangerous and could cause a fire. I am certain this is a manufacturing flaw. How on earth does the inside of a dryer have parts that will not hold up to heat? At any rate, I want it fixed. The only way to fix it is to replace the drum. This has to be a flaw in design or manufacturing and this particular model should be recalled.
We purchased our Maytag dishwasher (model MDB7609AWW2) on November 14th, 2009 from a local appliance shop in White Plains, NY. Total purchase price was $449, not including tax.Sometime in November of 2011, the unit stopped working. I tried every simple test I could think of to hopefully reset the unit. Finishing the obvious checks, I researched some possible problems on the internet latch micro switch, drainage problem, dirty latch, etc. Frustrated as nothing got it working again, I called a repairman recommended to us by the appliance store. The repairman charged me $75 for the visit just to tell me that the control board is shot. Even worse, and this is the reason for this letter, the part costs $329 plus $40 in labor! That is outrageous! If you do the math, I am facing the costs of a brand new unit to fix the old one. That might make sense if the unit was 8 years old but it is barely 2.I have sat on the decision now for a few days as I am beyond upset and I never make good decisions when I feel like this. But to recap, Maytag manufactures an appliance where its basic function - turning on - fails in 2 years and the repair cost essentially totals (to use insurance parlance) the unit. I find this absolutely unacceptable.I don’t expect Maytag to do anything for me. But I will say this; I plan on letting everyone I know just how this experience went. To make things worse, I am willing to pay for a quality unit but how does anyone know what that is anymore? For color, my grandmother has a KitchenAid dishwasher from the 1970s that is still running fine. No membrane controls, no delay functions or fancy BS super sanitary cycles and guess what, it has no control board, just plain old dials and buttons. Imagine that mechanical control? Built to last unlike the junk you see today. To remedy, I plan on picking up a used machine from the classifieds. I’ll install it myself and be able to do this for 9 years at $449, assuming it only lasts one year (I’m finding these units for $50 used). I may get lucky and find an old one from the 70s that will last a lot longer than that.
This washer is no better than a glorified garbage can. Maytag AKA Whirlpool should be ashamed to put their name on this product. Like others before me on this website my washing machine sounds like a jet is taking off in my basement. When I contacted a serviceman, he told me the drum seal is broken and the bearings are shot. I have the machine since April 11, 2011. Not even three years to date! I do not have an extended warranty so shame on me to believe that a 900.00 machine should last well beyond 3 years. Unfortunately, I am getting the run around from Whirlpool as all of you have experienced. This is criminal. Not only are we as consumers being defrauded by irresponsible manufacturing but these huge hunks of metal and plastic are polluting our environment. Our parents had washing machines and dryers for as long as 20 to 25 years and they actually cleaned clothes. We now have high efficiency machines that destroy our clothing and leave them dirty and wrinkled. They are now made to break in 5 years and from what I see on this website the average for breakdown is becoming 3 years. Do you think that this is not by design? The service call turns out to be more than the value of the machine, so the repairman doesnt even profit as consumers refrain from costly repair and repurchase. The only profitability is gained by the manufacturers that keep pushing out junk to the consumer. These manufacturers should be accountable like the American auto-manufacturers became accountable for the junk they manufactured at the expense of a whole city, Detroit.
1998 MAH4000 - I got this unit (used) in 2004 for $400, and it has pretty much kinda been a lemon ever since. I have babied it through until now, though it had the wax motor repaired twice (Im glad I bought an extended warranty from Maytag, but that added $400). Now the motor control has gone out. I like the concept of the front-loader, but my folks Maytags (and my grandparents) have run for 30+ years without any of the hassles Ive had.Granted, I like bleach, so the mold thing has been less of an issue for me, but wow. I have to say I wont ever purchase another Maytag appliance again. Im about to drop the $185 for a new motor (the motor control board went out, and apparently I need to get the new motor and control). Im pretty sure I lost a phase based on the burnt components on the board. Im glad I know a bit about electronics, or else Id really have been in for some money. Boo on this model!!
I purchased this set of Maytag Centennial Washer and Dryer from my local Home Depot in Dec. 2011. I havent had a repairman come out yet, but I am extremely dissatisfied with them. The washer is a problem because it doesnt seem to fill up with enough water to wash the clothes. Also if you want to add something to the washer that you forgot you stop it, and go to restart it again, and it starts removing all of your soap and water again. This is a waste of money, if you cannot stop it and start it again without it filling up again. I would not recommend anyone buying this HE washer & dryer. Also the dryer seems to heat up too hot to me.
I tried emailing Maytag but from what I read on consumer reports I doubt Ill get an email back. After our 20 plus year old Kenmore fridge was taken by hurricane Sandy I decided to try Maytag. What junk! We have a bottom freezer and were getting water build up on the bottom under the basket. In order to keep the water from leaking on floor I had to chop the ice out of the bottom every 2 days. My husband got frustrated and took the whole freezer apart only to find all the coils were covered in ice. Soon after that the ice maker stopped working. Tried different things to get it working. We finally took it apart and found the factory did not screw in all the screws on the inside so they fell out on the circuit board and shorted the thing out. Lucky it didnt burn the house down. All I can say is junk! Do not buy!
I think that I finally figured out a way around the piece of junk Maytag sold me. I bought a Maytag french door, stainless, yada, yada refrigerator in 2006. When it broke down, see later description, the first several times it was ok because of the warranty. This POS has failed 7 times requiring $300+ to fix every time. When contacted about the issue, the people at Maytag seem happy. The business model is working perfectly. There goes another sucker. The refrigerator begins its eventual breakdown with the door alarm light and sound beeping constantly. Beeping that continues for days and weeks. The next progression to failure continues with it not beeping anymore but now the interior lights do not light when the refrigerator is opened. Finally, the refrigerator stops cooling entirely and it is dead. Now, Maytag no longer wants anything to do with it so you need to call a repair man. When the repair man arrives, the entire time he talks about what a piece of junk Maytag is. They, every time, at first think it is the switches and replace them. This NEVER fixes the issue. Next, they have to replace the computer brain. $400 to fix. EVERY TIME. Now, at least every year. If you buy Maytag and have a similar experience, get your wallet out. Sell you junk then dont stand behind it.
I have a Maytag dishwasher and the rollers for the racks are failing due to heat: plastic wheels breaking up. $35 each to buy and replace. There are eight total. So $280 because of poor testing and quality of materials. Manufacturers should test to ensure the parts last a reasonable period of time and are designed for the environment in which they are being used.
This review is pretty simple, if you have kids, do not buy this washer! I just went to the local wholesale guy after almost 8 months of using this POS, and spent $200 on a older agitator machine, after the first load my 7 year old close came clean of dirt! There is literally no water and the motion of the drum, it is almost impossible for this machine to clean clothes. I really am surprised that no one has started a class action. And to anyone saying the are hog farmers and work outside and get dirty? I would love to see it first hand. I am going to post on YouTube and show what this machine really does. Think about this before you buy, We all get hooked on how big it is, thinking you can do 4 loads at once, but trust me the low water thing is real! How do you clean clothes with no water! You will regret this purchase. And I am a Maytager for life! So disappointing.
We purchased a Maytag Dishwasher (model number mdb6759aws3) about 3 years ago. After about 1 year, the control panel started to go. Certain options would not light up. If I used the options that did light and shut the door, the dishwasher would work. I had called Maytag, and they were charging almost $200.00 to come out to repair. Now after 3 years, the entire panel is out. We had someone come out. We ordered a new touch pad for $265, and it still did not work. It is the control panel that is dead. What bothers me is that after reading online, this seems to be a continual problem, and Maytag does nothing to help the consumer.
We have had a Maytag Bravos washer for a while, which has a see-through top load lid and a very small or low agitator. I have to say that I really miss the old fashioned agitator which makes all the clothes being dragged underwater and scrubbed well. We have watched the loads being washed in this washer many times and the clothes are not being swished around very effectively. You feel like you need to help it getting the clothes washed as it seem like it just sit in the same place throughout the cycle. The clothes ends up in big knots around the edges, and you can see the same towel sitting on the top during the 2-minute rinse cycle, never getting completely under water. During the wash cycle, the lid gets locked, so you are not able to open it up to untangle or move towels around if it has gotten unevenly distributed. The wash cycle is very quick, so all in all, Im not sure how clean the laundry really is when its done. We will never buy this kind of washer again.
This will be the third repair of this refrigerator in one year, the same issue of the refrigerator warming up. Water all over the floor due to ice thaw. Also food spoilage. I want another refrigerator at this point. The Maytag repairman is definitely not lonely. He has more business than he can handle with this defective refrigerator. Terrible. Do Not Buy!!
My fridge and freezer got warm and compressor is not running. It is not even 8 years old. I replaced start relay and start capacitor. It cost me $75, from Maytag store. I worked two days the bam! It’s broke again. It’s a Maytag junk, now what? I have two kids in college. It will cost me $100 for a service call. Our food is ruined.
Worst washing machine!!! I purchased the top loader Maytag Bravos washer HE in 2011 and they are the worst!!! It has been repaired three times already and now is making such a loud noise and I have been told it is the bearings. I did purchase the extended warranty and it expired. The reason I did not get a renewal is Maytag & Home Depot do not allow the the extended warranty company to let you know the warranty is ending. So now I have a 3 1/2 year old washer that needs bearings and will cost $500 + for repairs. Will not be spending anymore money on this absolute piece of junk. I had a Maytag that was 22 years old that I replaced and thought I was buying the same quality but never again another Maytag. This company may want to employ only repairmen because you will need only them because no one should buy a new one going forward.
I bought this wash (XL HD) 1 1/2 years ago. From the time the people installed it it never worked correctly. I have never wanted to beat up an appliance before, but this washer makes me so mad that I am ready to just throw it out and buy a new one even though I paid 600.00 for it and it was more than I would ever pay for a washer. I bought this so I could wash my comforters mainly. Well I cannot wash comforters unless I wash them 5 times or at least try to wash them 5 times or more. They get unbalanced and then the machine shuts off. After doing everything from changing the hoses like somebody else suggested, it still didnt work. Along my troubles with trying to rinse and drain I did find something new that I didnt know I could do for all these months is when you put your machine on rinse, spin, dry and the extra rinse light pops on, click it and turn it off, then it reduces the spin time to 15 minutes instead of 26. Also now I have to just let my hose drain on the floor of my outside wash room because if I hook it up through the wall to drain outside it just stops with the LF code. So I have 2 inches of water on my washroom floor and it really sucks. This is the only way I can get the machine to work without turning itself off. Very disappointed with this machine that appears to be so large (looks can be deceiving). It cannot wash hardly anything and this machine should be taken off the market. It is garbage. I really wish this did work because I have spent too much time trying to rewash, respin, get all the water out of the clothes so I could dry them. This should be banned and not sold by any store.
Maytag side-by-side fridge with water/ice dispenser (Model # MSD2572VEW00) was purchased in 2011. Mechanically, fridge is working, however, every piece of plastic inside the refrigerator section (the regular glass shelves with plastic rims, vegetable bins, and door ban shelves) are all cracking and falling apart. Additionally, the buttons on the ice/water dispenser fell off, exposing the actual buttons on the panel. All three of the regular sized shelves have severe cracks in the plastic that affect the sturdiness of the shelf. Both vegetable drawers are badly cracked, falling apart and one doesnt even stay secure on the track. Even all three of the door ban shelves are cracked with fractures along the sides and bottom. Weve resorted to putting clear packing tape just to hold the shelves together. We contacted Whirlpool, who owns Maytag and because our fridge is 4 years outside of the 1 year warranty, they could do nothing for us. In over 30 years of owning refrigerators, this is the first time Ive seen every shelf and bin crack the way this fridge has and in less than 5 years no less! Whirlpools solution to our issue was to send my call to their Parts Department. The total cost to replace all the cracked shelves, bin drawers plus the ice/water dispenser panel is $702.28. No thanks, thats as much as a new fridge. Whirlpool should be utterly ashamed of their total lack of Customer Satisfaction by distributing such a piece of junk. Who would have thought that an appliance costing a couple hundred dollars would be considered as disposable as an aluminum pan and in only 5 years! One thing is for sure, I will certainly think carefully again on ever buying another Whirlpool product again since they are so apt to take my money only for me to repurchase an expensive appliance again in less than 5 years.
I bought a Maytag dishwasher in 9/2006. I was happy with it until 12/10 when it smoked and almost caught fire in the middle of the night! Luckily, I have a GFI circuit breaker and it shut the dishwasher off before it burned my house down. After researching on Google, I found out that my dishwasher had been recalled as a fire hazard, and I was never notified by Maytag. I called Maytag from my house phone and the automated system knew my name and address immediately just by me calling -- so they could have easily notified me but they chose not to.I ended up getting a voucher to purchase a new dishwasher (model: MDB7709AWB2). The one year warranty has literally just expired, and the Start/Resume, and the Cancel/Drain buttons no longer work. The replacement parts from Maytag cost $212.37, and that price does not include the price to get it installed from a service technician -- add on another $100-$200 depending on where you live. This is a known problem, and seems to repeat yearly! Another annoying thing about this dishwasher is the wheels on the racks. They dont glide easily and they constantly get off the track. I hate this dishwasher and I will never purchase another product from Maytag/Whirlpool/Jenn-Air again!
My dishwasher is less than 2 years old - has only been used a total of less than 12 months as I am seasonal in Florida. The control panel has failed. It will cost $275 parts and labor to fix.
Bought Maytag Dishwasher in 2/2012. 10/2015 dishwasher stopped working. My husband tried to replace the motherboard, however, dishwasher completely done. Called Maytag and they said they would send a repair company at their expense, however, repair service called to verify appointment and told us how much it would cost us! Maytag had no intention of paying the bill even after they said they would. Called Maytag back and said the other customer service person was incorrect. Now, buying another dishwasher only after 3.5 years.
The dishes need to be washed off to be sure they will be clean. It holds a lot of dishes. You can put it on a short wash or long one. Leaves water on base of glasses sometimes. Holds moisture. Heavy wash, normal wash, light wash, rinse only, auto clean, delay 1-9, heated dry, sanitize, tough scrub, extra rinse. Regular size 24. Beige color. Electronic buttons. Maytag Quiet Series 200: I do not like the racks for putting dishes in. Otherwise it holds a lot. It does not clean dishes if you do not rinse them off first. If you run the dishwasher immediately after putting dishes in it will clean them off. Sometimes it leaves water standing. Even with what I have said I really like this dishwasher. We have had the dishwasher a long time. We use it at least 2 times a week.
We have a 4yr old model MFI2665XEM7, just started leaking water every other day. A puddle wipe it up and its gone. Have ice build up on the bottom of freezer. Any suggestions on what to do?
If there was a zero star rating available, that is what I would select! We purchased this range along with a complete kitchen ensemble for a remodel of our kitchen in December of 2011. Within a few months of purchase the enamel finish started blistering, flaking and peeling. Upon contacting Whirlpool Corp about the problem through their online chatline, email, regular mail and phone, we were informed (quite rudely I might add) that Whirlpool does not warranty cosmetic deficiencies over 30 days after product purchase. This is American Quality?? Since this has occurred the retirement home we are building will have no Whirlpool Corp products in it which includes: Maytag, Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Amana, Jenn-Air, Brastemp, Consul, Bauknecht, Gladiator, or any of the product lineup from the Chinese company Hefei Sanyo which they are buying. The attached photos were taken in May of 2012 and since that time the product finish has only exponentially deteriorated.
We purchased our Maytag® 4.5 cu.ft. White Front-Load Steam Washer online through Menards and picked up the washer on Feb. 5, 2022. We set it up on Feb. 6, 2022 and it didnt work properly from day one. The washer makes a clicking sound when it spins and also gets out of balance very easily. I contacted Maytag and they referred a warranty repairman in our area. He looked at the machine and said it could be one of two things and it would be a major repair. We would have to haul the washer to his shop and he would have to tear apart the washer to fix. He said it would be a big job to fix and we would be out of a washer for a few days.I also had contacted Menards shortly after we purchased the machine and they told us to contact Maytag. They wanted nothing to do with us and didnt want to stand behind a product that they had sold. Getting major warranty work done on a NEW washer makes no sense to me. I am very disappointed in Maytag and will never purchase anything Maytag again. Dont bother wasting your money like we did!
