Product Reviews:

We purchased at Home Depot on 5/12/2012 a Maytag dishwasher model MDBH979SA
We purchased at Home Depot on 5/12/2012 a Maytag dishwasher model MDBH979SAM. The following November it started not working correctly. We had to fiddle with the cancel button to get it to work at all. It just kept on getting worst to where it would not function at all. We called Maytag service. They set up a service call with a local warranty service provider who ordered a control board and a week later came and installed. No charges at this point. Now, here at the end of August 2013, out of warranty, it is doing the same thing! I just called Maytag customer service in Tennessee and was told they are so sorry but would sell me a one year service contract. This I immediately refused. I told the person I was talking to that I had seen this website and was aware that hundreds were having the same issues and that I knew first hand that they were doing nothing about it! I informed this person I will be in contact with my home states Attorney General’s Office Consumer Fraud Division and would ask for any assistance from them available. This person then offered to replace the part at no charge, but I would have to pay for the service people to come and determine the problem (real hard to figure out that it is the control board again, same as everyone else) and then pay to have them come and install it after they order and receive it! The service order left by the tech when he replaced the first board showed a $74 fee that was covered by the warranty. So from this I have determined that it will end up costing me $150 for this repair. I also realize this repair may last six months to a year if I am lucky! Needless to say I refused this last offer too. I will have to wait to hear from our Attorney Generals office. How can any reputable business do this?

I have a fairly new washer Maytag model #MHWE500VW serial #CSY0303991. I need Part # W10415587 doesnt excist for my washing machine anymore. Its been on backorder since Apr-May 2011. Maytag/GE insists that they are not responsible. As long as they can say backorder technically they are not liable for anything and dont really care that me the customer is having a problem and they Blatantly refuse to even investigate. I spoke with a GE supervisor just today and she basically told me wont help you because my appliance is out of warrenty. And she explained to my that my complaint will go into a file that no one will ever see. I searched the internet only to find hundred of other consumers are waiting for this same part. Ive called distributors & manufactuers. Same answer, backorder. My warrenty people are trying very hard to help me but again Maytag/GE refuse to help. Very dissappointed with this company. Wont be purchasing Maytag/GE products again. Wheres that guy in the commercial with nothing to do when you need him??

I bought a brand-new dryer Maytag Bravos. It broke after 3 weeks. They came to fix. A few months later, same thing happened, but I have 6 people in my house. They told me someone would be here the next day, and then that person canceled. They called someone else. He came and said I have to wait 3 days for parts. I called at least 6x and waited 30 minutes each time. They kept telling me theyd call back, and theres absolutely no call back. Then I called corporate Yvette, who was totally cocky and rude (866 817 5404). She said she would try to get back to me another day because she had meetings! Then, I was irate. I mean how rude. So she called me back and said, I ordered you the parts. Now you call Dan Marc, the service company, and make the appointment. Is this woman kidding? Then she went on about how Maytag has a 13% rating (They are Maytag.) and how their product is so wonderful. Now this woman is competent cocky and rude, and shes the presidents secretary! So whatever I call Dan Marc, they have no appointments Tom and wont make me an appointment. This is how a new product should work? I asked her what I do when it breaks again and again and the warranty is up. She told me they dont work on what ifs and if that time comes, it will be her decision. I am disgusted and have a house full of kids with no dryer? And I have given them another chance after that Neptune disaster. Im appalled and dont even know what to do.

I purchased a Maytag Dishwasher in March 2013 and the control panel failed in July 2014. I, along with hundreds or thousands of others it seems, discovered that this is an extremely common issue with several models of Maytag dishwashers. Rather than standing behind their products and making it right for their customers, Maytag is hiding behind their one year warranty and refusing to do anything about it or even admit they installed thousands of FAULTY control panels. This has been an expensive, infuriating issue to deal with and I have never been so dissatisfied with a company. Bottom line, they made a bad product that should have been recalled. It blows my mind that they are getting away with this. I wish I had known the recent changes in Maytag/Whirlpool and I wish I had done my research prior to the purchase.

Bravo XL Washer & Dryer - I have owned this set for just over 90 days and have called Maytag several times just to get insulted. The customer service representative is not helpful at all, and tells me that I am not using HE detergent or that I am using too much HE detergent. Furthermore, they tell me that if a service technician comes to my home and nothing is wrong that I will get charged. So much for the extended warranty and what is wrote on the Maytag site. I explain each time that I am using name brand HE detergent and the recommended amount. The soap dispenser in the machine provides a fill line that I fill to. I have even tried using less detergent as recommended by the appliance store that I purchased the machine from, and still the washer does not clean my laundry and leaves residue on everything. I have even tried using the extra rinse, and extra heavy soil setting which does not make a difference at all.The other concern is that the clean washer feature light flashes weekly. I have purchased the cleaning tabs recommended to clean the machine, and run this clean cycle every time the light comes on. The dryer does not work all that well either and shuts off before the laundry is dry. Sometimes the dryer will show an error of airflow restriction or low airflow. This is confusing because the dryer vent and hose are clean, and the lint filter is also clean. This is so disappointing because I thought Maytag had great products. However, as I read other reviews about these machines and the customer service representatives it seems that there is a systemic problem with the machines and the customer service representatives that needs to be addressed by the leadership at Maytag.

We purchased our Maytag Refrigerator brand new, about 18 months ago. It always ran loud so the repairman came out during the 12 month warranty period. He told us to unplug and reset it, but that never did the trick. Eight months later, the fridge stopped cooling. We called our local repairman and he told us ($97 later) that the compressor was out. He said we should contact Maytag because the compressor should be under a 5-year warranty. Then the nightmare began. I spoke to four different reps with a total hold time of about 2 hours. Two of the reps put me on hold to get a supervisor and/or consult another rep and I was mysteriously cut off each time. One rep told me my compressor wasnt covered under warranty. The last rep I spoke to told me it was covered and he scheduled a Maytag repairman to come and replace the compressor. I was thrilled. The repairman came out and informed me that the compressor was indeed out and handed me a bill for $137. I asked why I was being billed and he said because that was the way that Maytag had ordered the service call. I told him that the Maytag rep had assured me that Maytag was covering the repair. He apologized and said that not only was I obliged to pay for the diagnosis (which I didnt need because I had already paid my local guy for the same information), but that it would cost $900 to replace the compressor. I was flabbergasted. I called Maytag and they denied all responsibility. They said that even though the rep had assured me of Maytags commitment to replace the compressor under the 5-year warranty, he had made a mistake and I wasnt actually covered. So I paid our local repairman to replace the compressor, because by that time, we had been living out of ice chests for 2 weeks. That was 3 weeks ago. Now the unit is freezing water on the bottom of the freezer and then leaking water on the floor. It is unconscionable that this company be allowed to defraud people to this extent. I will never buy a Maytag again and I would like to be informed of any class action suit. This company should be deeply, deeply ashamed of itself.

We used to own a Neptune Model. After always leaving the door opened and following the recommended monthly cleaning and many extra cleanings with diluted bleach and water, we could not get the smell out. We paid for a new seal, Advice from Washing Machine Repair service even though we paid a lot for an extended warranty. We had to pay for this ourselves. We also had our year to year maintenance. Because we could not fix the issue, nor would MAYTAG, we donated the set to donated it to Salvation Army.We decided to give MAYTAG another chance, so we purchased a brand new FRONT-LOAD WASHER and DRYER in 2014. As I would repeat the same regiment, I would notice little black specks, so I would clean it an extra time with Afresh. I have continued to this date, repeating the same regiment of keeping my washer clean and serviced as we should, I now have the whole tray dispenser spotted with LARGE black goo that smells. So I have continued to clean my Washer. After returning home from the Cleveland Clinic, I was ready to do our laundry from the trip, more black goo and smell coming from my Maytag front-load washer. My sister had stayed with my 86 year old mother and had wash a load of towels while we were gone. She left the door opened also as she was instructed many times, and that is how we found it. So I took the dispenser tray out as usual and bleached it and scrubbed it. As I did this I noticed bigger areas of goo. I looked in the dispenser housing and OMG it was covered with black mold. I am appalled that our $900.00 Washing Machine is like this. This IS BLACK MOLD, There is no way to remove this mold. I have the sides and bottom cleaned with bleach, BUT I cannot get into the multiple crevices.I called Maytag and I was initially told by a Maytag Customer Service Person said that it sounds like BLACK MOLD and MAYTAG COULD DO NOTHING! I asked to speak with a supervisor. At first she seemed a little put off, but as we talked she became more pleasant, I offered to send pictures or a video of the WASHER WITH THE BLACK MOLD and she said no. She told me to pour bleach into each dispensing compartment and the drum. Then run a wash with no clothes on all HOT WATER 2 times, then rinse 2 times and this should get rid of it and to also leave the dispenser drawer open a crack as well as the door after each wash. The Supervisor said ok and thanked her for her help. Then she said good luck and thanks for calling MAYTAG. Ive did and already do everything our Washer manual says to do on cleaning and maintenance of my expensive Maytag Washer and dryer. The manual says nothing about leaving the dispenser drawer open a little so it dries. The bottom of the housing looks great from doing this, along with me scrubbing it until 5:00 am with diluted bleach water. However, in the MANY SEAMS, CREVICES, THE SCHUTE AND POSSIBLY THROUGHOUT THE WASHING MACHINE IS BLACK MOLD that we cannot access without disassembling the machine and voiding our extended warranty.MOLD GROWS RAPIDLY and causes many illness. I already have an ongoing illness since childhood, I take care of my 86 year old mother, my husband just finished cancer treatment in January. We certainly do not need any other health issues. I called my local Appliance repair company and they said that they normally do not handle anything like this, but if my husband couldnt take the outside of the machine off then the top I could pay for a repair person to come out to take it apart then call and have them come back to put it back, pay them again to reassemble our Washer.I believe Whirlpool in its purchase of Maytag has taken a Monkey on its back. Maytag will do nothing, why should they? They already have their money from when we purchased our machines along with money from many other consumers who also have ongoing issues with their WHIRLPOOL/MAYTAG Front-Load washing machines. It is undignified and deceitful how they treat their consumers with such disregard when we have filled their pockets by being loyal customers.Word of mouth is good or bad advertisement for any company. Everyone who has unresolved issues of any kind can write a formal complaint to the CEO and President of Whirlpool/Maytag. The address is on the internet. Shame on Whirlpool/Maytag for taking many consumers hard earned money, when apparently some of Whirlpool/Maytags money is ill gained by developing and manufacturing a consumer product that causes black mold and marketing it to sell to us, the consumer. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE WHIRLPOOL/MAYTAG. OWN UP!!! My advertisement begins today!!!

I bought a Maytag washer in Sept. 2018 because the company had a reputation of making quality products that did not need repairs. I was wrong. Because I live alone so at most I washed two loads a week, so the company cannot say it had been overused. After a little more than a year I notice at times the wash cycle took too long. One time I tried the 2 rinse cycle and it would not quit washing. A repairman reset the computer to factory settings (he was at the house repairing a refrigerator) and it worked for a few months trouble free before dying. I will not purchase another Whirlpool product since the company did not stand by its product.

Good deal, recommended by dealer friend. Front loaders, high efficiency, 12 years or so. Finally needs new bearings on the washer. Replaced electronic board 5 years ago. High repair costs would be the worst which is related to low-quality construction. I expect my next pair to last as long as the last 1. Full size, not stackable but oversized drums. Relatively low water usage, lots of different settings for different loads for washing and drying, automatic water level and wrinkle guard.

I bought this machine a year and a half ago. The entire drum and spin motor need to be replaced. Maytags warranty only lasted 1 year. I bought it at Home Depot, and also purchased the extended 5 year warranty. The extended warranty is as bad as the washing machine. I am now just 2 days shy of 4 weeks of trying to deal with both parties. Ive had to take my laundry in to have it done. The cost of the laundry, the cost of the machine, and the cost of the warranty is more than $200 more than what Home Depots Extended Protection Plan is willing to reimburse/refund. I had a Maytag dishwasher that I purchased around 2005. I had no issues with it at all. Then, I got a notice that it was being recalled due to a fire hazard. My options were to either get a repairman to come out and fix it, or get a credit towards a purchase of a new dishwasher. I chose the second option. Even after getting a credit, the purchase cost was way more than my original dishwasher. I purchased the new dishwasher in June of 2010. Last spring (May 2012), I noticed a gap in my hardwood floors around the sink. A flooring rep looked around and said he would bet that theres a leak either at the sink or the dishwasher. I took off the front kick-plate to the dishwasher and discovered a wet spot. I monitored that area and discovered the leak coming from under the dishwasher (around the float switch). It wouldnt leak all the time, but every now and then, it would leak half to a full cup of water. I had the hardwood floor fixed (cost $350). At the same time, I schedule a service repair through Maytag. They sent a rep from a local repair company (Convenient Appliance Service, Inc.). The service rep couldnt identify the cause of the leak but said it was more than likely the seal around the door. So, I paid another $160 to get the repair done. I monitored the leak for a week and had no problems, so I put the kick-plate back on. In September 2012, I noticed a wet spot in front of the dishwasher. I took off the kick-plate and discovered that the dishwasher was leaking again. This time the leak was worse. It would leak 1 to 2 cups of water during a wash cycle. I called the repair company and they came out free of charge to take a look at it. The service rep said the float switch had gunk build up in it. He cleaned it out and said that should fix the problem. I monitored the area for 2 weeks and everything seemed to be fine. Last week (March 2013), I noticed some gaps in the hardwood flooring around the sink and dishwasher. I pulled off the kick-plate and discovered a wet spot. I ran the dishwasher and discovered that it leaked a ton of water (over 4 cups). I contacted the repair company that came out last time, and they said they would have to charge me $100 plus to come out and take a look at the problem. The rep recommended contacting Maytag. I contacted Maytag and they said I would either have to pay $129 for a service call (not including cost for parts), or $269 to get covered under their Repair Plus 1 program (everythings covered and it adds 1 year of warranty my dishwasher). I asked at what point Maytag would replace a dishwasher. The rep said when it is deemed unfixable. Other than that, they just keep coming out if I have issues. Part of me thought I need to cut my losses and just rip out the dishwasher and get a new one (cost somewhere around $700). But I went with the Repair Plus 1 program in hopes that they can resolve the issue. But Im definitely going to have to get the hardwoods ripped out again. It looks worse than before. It’s probably going to run another $500.

Purchased the Maytag Bravo Nov 2010 and had to replace it after just 5 years. In the five years we owned it, it required a new water pump and the stabilizers had to be repaired. Its motor burned up and I was not able to find a replacement. I was quoted $224 (parts only) for a replacement motor and 10 weeks delivery. My wife never liked the machine as it was not able to clean clothes that well. We did not find much difference in any of the settings. We tended to put very few clothes in each load in order to get them clean. We were dissatisfied that it did not have a soak cycle and the lid lock was particularly annoying.

Consumers be aware! Anyone who’s considering purchasing a Maytag Appliance I would highly suggest reconsidering! I bought a $2000+ Maytag fridge Model # MFT2776FEZ00 in March of 2017 and have had numerous repair calls on it: Several for ice maker not make ice, ice freezing in the bucket into 1 big CHUNK, water running down front of door on the inside and outside, to not working at all and ice maker needing to be replaced. Several calls for fridge not properly cooling (temperature was set at 37 degrees F but the temperature in the fridge is 55 degrees F - per 2 thermometers), food is spoiling. The back inside of “Temp Controlled Pantry” is freezing everything and whole back wall behind the drawer is frozen with 1-2” of frost and ice. Defroster is not working and again parts being ordered to repair an obvious issue with this model.I contacted Maytag and their response was “sorry, we can document the problem.” They will do nothing more! These Appliance companies are ripping off the consumers! Everyone passes the buck! Repairman says, contact the Appliance store you purchased it from, Appliance store says, contact Maytag, Maytag says it’s the repair companys issue.

Please note, we live between two homes so the machines are not heavily used at all. Our $250 machine we have in our Florida home works a million times better and is several years old. We purchased at the ABC appliance store and they have sent out a technician 4 times in the first few months. Bottom line, these are just pieces of crap machines. They cannot be returned! It is really a shame for the money spent and your clothes does not get clean on any cycle. The technician told us we should use the Deep water wash for all cycles which still does not work. I bought this machine for the XL capacity but also for the delicate cycle and stains do not come out, undergarments are still dirty, white power residue from OXI is left on the clothes etc... DO NOT BUY. This would get zero stars if I could. So disappointing and frustrating. If class action suit does happen, I would want to be part if it.

I bought a new smart washer and dryer from Maytag in mid-2019. Beginning in the first few weeks the machine did not perform as expected--cut off in middle of cycle, door failed to unlock at end of a cycle, constant error messages that made no sense (power failure when power didnt fail, codes that arent defined in the owners manual). To make a long story short, the company that does their warranty repair, which has worked on the machine approximately 8 times, tells me there is nothing else they can do, the machine is a lemon. But their customer service department refuses to replace it. They say it must be repaired, yet again. But the parts are out of stock (which should be a pretty good indication that theres a problem with product quality). So I am to wait. How long? They dont know. Call again tomorrow.Do NOT buy a Maytag appliance. Customer service does not stand behind their products and the products are no longer up to the quality I had previously expected from Maytag. Additionally, telephone wait times on the customer experience line can exceed an hour and are customarily over 30 minutes. Never had an experience like this with any other major appliance customer service department.

I purchased my Maytag Bravos from Lowes in early 2014. A few weeks after the motherboard fried and Lowes replaced it with a new one. Within my 1 year warranty the new machine had another fried motherboard. Maytag replaced it for free. Now less than a year later the motherboard is fried again. Needless to say I just purchased another washing machine. Definitely not a Maytag. Now I just have to deal with a dysfunctional piece a junk for a few days until I get my new one. After reading all the complaints on here and other sites, Im very disappointed with Maytag. These machines are obviously lemons and any good company should recall them. Mine will be going straight to the junkyard. I have no interest in having a washer that breaks down every 10 months. Definitely the last thing I will ever purchase from Maytag.

To anyone out there who is considering purchasing a Maytag washer. My husband & I purchased a Maytag Bravo top loader washer from Sears Hardware here in Columbus, OH. We had always received great review regarding Maytag products. This washer is expensive & does not work. We started having problems from the day we purchased & had Sears come out three times for repairs. This washer has a built in scale which is extremely sensitive. We are very disappointed in this washer. It takes an entire day to do 3 loads of laundry. The washer goes off balance on every load. It doesnt do a god job cleaning the laundry. I do not suggest the Bravos series to anyone consider purchasing this product. It is a piece of JUNK! We purchased in Aug 2010 and the washer will need to be replaced within the next several months. Keep in mind that more expensive & lots of fancy extras doesnt mean a better quality washer or dryer. Stay away from Maytag or you will have the Old Maytag repair guy @ your door frequently.

My experience is very similar to Richards below. I have an MDBH979AWS3 that was purchased new in April of 2010. Just over one month after my warranty expired, the touch panel ceased to work. Since it was no longer in warranty, I had to replace it out of pocket. The wiring harness to the old panel looked heat damaged. Last winter, the central computer died. The machine was useless. I called Maytag customer service and actually seemed to find a sympathetic ear. They agreed to a new part if I paid $129 for one of the two companies doing certified repair to install it. During the summer, it blew several fuses. Then in late November of this year, the touch panel went again. I hesitated on how to respond and waited until after the holidays to call them. I got the most rude customer service rep that Ive dealt with in a long time. Somehow, I was blamed for a misdiagnosis on the computer panel (duh, no, that was a different issue and it was indeed broken), accused of misuse of the dishwasher, and flatly told that they werent going to do anything more on a machine. So far, out of warranty. Im sorry, but I cant accept that a machine under 3 years old should have 3 major failures. Maytag has to step up and at least look at this problem. From what Ive read, this is a common problem that has resulted in several fires. Maytag has to know about this and continues to do nothing, not even issue a recall on the current touch panel used. I am now faced with putting another $100 in (which puts me at about $350 total on a machine I paid almost $500 for) or just buy a new product. Rest assured I will never buy another Maytag-Whirlpool appliance.

Now, it went out again 2 years later with the same exact problem. I called Maytag and they do not care. They are rude and simply will not fix this refrigerator. The warranty is gone and again, I have to pay for this constant problem. Why doesnt Maytag own up and service this problem. Didnt we pay for this? It wasnt given to us free. Someone needs to step up and gets it resolved for consumers. If legal action needs to bring this to their ignorance, so be it. We all have spent a great deal of money on a refrigerator and all they do is say, is “Too bad. How can any company continue to be in business and operate this way?

I have been trying for THREE MONTHS to have this fixed. Multiple calls to Maytag have resulted in nothing but empty promises. Calls to the store where we purchased it do no good - you have to call Maytag. We got 6 months use out of a Maytag microwave which we paid EXTRA to have installed. At this point I dont want it fixed. I purchased a Maytag gas range about five years ago. After about two months, I noticed that the paint on the burner grates was flaking off. I called the company and they told me it was cosmetic. I have since bought two sets of replacement grates. I call the newest ones my dress grates, which I put on the stove when I am having company. I use the damaged ones for everyday cooking. Last year, the panel flashed. It locks constantly. And often, the door would not open, unless we pulled the stove away from the wall, unplugged it, and that cleared the computer. So, after months of unsuccessful door openings, the handle finally fell off completely. And the door locks whenever the oven is turned on. You have to finish your cooking, press cancel, and wait until the oven cools off, and then it will unlock. I have tried pushing aluminum foil into the latch hole on the door but have not been successful. Sometimes I just put a spoon in the door to keep it ajar while cooking. This cant be energy efficient. Of course, it is out of warranty. I saw a similar complaint about the burner grates. Also, the paint has chipped in several places on the cook top and the disks are all chipped. I am never ever going to buy a Maytag product. Oh, by the way, I called a repairman. I paid $65 for him to tell me that to replace the lock mechanism and the door handle, it would be $400. I can buy a new stove for that, but not a Maytag.

Both Sears and Maytag have lost my business FOR GOOD! We purchased a Maytag Bravo XL # MGDB980W0 2 years ago. We called within the 1 year warranty period via Sears, they sent a tech out then charged us. The dryer kept shutting off before clothes were dry. We thought the problem resolved, then reoccurred after the 1 yr period. Neither Sears or Maytag would stand behind the product citing it has been discontinued due to problems. Well... yeah, no kidding. We paid BGE energy efficiency company to come out and evaluate it. They tweaked the exhaust vent and cleaned out the duct, however, they said we needed a new sensor. My wife bought a new sensor, installed it, and the dryer still wont work right! (Shutting off prior to clothes being dry). BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT: I researched and bought a new gas LG dryer on sale at Home Depot and shelled out $849 unnecessarily thanks to shoddy product and lack of company integrity. DO NOT BUY SEARS OR MAYTAG!!!

Purchased our Maytag Bravo Quiet Series 300 about 5 years ago and came to this site to read about other washing machine complaints because I am looking for a new washer. Was SHOCKED to hear so many similar complaints to mine (our local appliance store who sold us this unit, as well as services it, said this was unusual). Tiny holes in all our clothes! Black marks on clothes! Dirty clothes! LOUD & BUMPY washing - will sometimes walk itself around the laundry room, slamming into wash sink & dryer (there are dents to prove the violence). UL light that stops the machine & cant be resolved even after I untangle & lift water-soaked items. Finally started seeing black marks splattering out from under machine & was told the bearing is bad and the case (?) is leaking? ... Anyway, result to repair is MORE THAN ITS WORTH.Also have a 3 year old Maytag Quiet Series 300 DISHWASHER, that does not clean well, sometimes leaves half the dishes untouched (dry & dirty), grinds food waste & redistributes onto dishes before baking it on tight (requires soaking to loosen, then wash by hand) ... Oh, and is NOT quiet! I was told I probably use TOO MUCH SOAP. Seriously?!? My complaint is NOT soap residue ... It is D.I.R.T. How can you run a load and still have sauce & ketchup that dripped onto the inside of the door when loading the dishwasher STILL on the inside of the door??? Darn thing cant even clean itself!

We purchased a Maytag Centennial washing machine from a local business here in Knoxville in 2013. My previous Maytag lasted seven+ years and I was very happy with it. It began to leak water and after two times of having water on the floor, we decided it had worn out and purchased another washer. We immediately wanted another Maytag since our previous one has lasted for quite a while. We bought the new Maytag Centennial washing machine in the Spring of 2011. This is May of 2013 and we have had to purchase another washing machine since the electrical board in ours went out. The replacement part is listed at $300+ and that is without labor to install. We purchased our Maytag Refrigerator Model # MBF2258DEHM on 12/21/2015. Just a couple of issues I would like to bring to your attention before you purchase your Maytag. The single refrigerator door does not close automatically. You have to close the door. The metal handle is metal and has a metal smell and feel to it. The stainless steel door and the handles are not the same finish. Although this might not be a problem for some who like the industrial look I prefer my hands to be free of chemicals while I am preparing food. The ice maker takes up too much room. The ice maker should have been an option, not a standard item. I had a Kitchen Aid for 10 years and loved it. I thought I was going to have my Kitchen Aid for 15 years or more. I would have purchased another Kitchen Aid, but the reviews were not good.

When purchasing new, sales person highly recommended Maytag products. Maytag Dishwasher MDB7749SBW3 - This had the SS tub that my wife was looking for. Now only 19 months later it has completely stopped working. A few weeks ago the lights on the control panel would randomly come on or not align with the wash option that was chosen. This lasted a short time, and then lights on the panel would stay on, and not allow you to choose any options. I reset our breaker and this alleviated the problem for another week or so. Then it stopped working all together. A quick Google search and it was obvious Maytag has a MAJOR and KNOWN issue with this model. The ribbon going into the faceplate/ control board sits directly behind the port that exhausts the steam. This ribbon over time becomes corroded and eventually malfunctions. I called customer support. They were completely unwilling to acknowledge the problem and also unwilling to help in any way. They offered to sell me an extended warranty @ $329.00 that would cover the service call and repair. Very unhappy that their product has an obvious defect/ flaw and they are completely unwilling to acknowledge/ or stand behind their product. We are a family of (3) and run this dishwasher about once every 5-10 days. Unbelievable they find a fail rate within a year and half with light use acceptable!

I have written to Whirlpool about complaints with this range and was very dissatisfied with response. The following were complaints on above range: Range does not have a light on it as the past ranges had. It is very much needed. Grates on burner are to high, therefore it takes longer for items in pot to heat up. Type of steel used on range is very thin and tiny, in other words very poor quality. This is what has happened since Whirlpool bought out Maytag. Quality of Steel that Maytag used is no longer since Whirlpool took over their products. This is true of All their Appliances (Refrigerators, Washers, Dryers, and Ranges). All meaning appliances manufactured by Whirlpool.Manual knobs for turning on oven have been replaced by touch screens, these eventually wear out and are very costly to replace. If it works why change it. Drawers on bottom of range used to be larger, now they are narrow and smaller height wise. Residue on base of burner appears quite frequently and has to be cleaned even if no overspills occur. And why cant Whirlpool make quality merchandise as good as Maytag use to make. Regarding the physical appearance of Range it is very attractive in looks, however Looking good and functioning poorly with inadequate materials used in construction of Appliances outweighs benefits of looking good. My wife and I regret not returning this appliance within 90 days of purchase. In the future we will not purchase Whirlpool or any other appliances manufactured by them if that is possible. Kenmore, LG and perhaps other appliances parts are made by Whirlpool. I received a response from Jake **, Whirlpool Corporation, Executive Office. I purchased a new Maytag washer and dryer March 2021, I have owned past Maytag washer and dryers, thinking they were the top of the line products, not this time, The washer, I put the clothes in barely covers the clothes, so I put it on deep water wash, when the clothes are all done, they look like they did when I first put them in the washer, dirty clothes, whites are dirty, towels look like they got dirt spots on them. My original Maytag washer lasted over 25 years (still using dryer purchased in 1977). But the Maytag model SAV 4655AWW I bought a few years ago is a piece of junk! Not long after it was out of warranty, it started making noise. Not overly loud, but noisy. Since then, though it makes such a loud noise, you can hear it 3 rooms away. It leaks water from the seals, shakes and vibrates all over the place (even when level). The rocking appears to be due to pathetic self-leveling legs they put on the back of the washer. I had to put a 2x4 on the back side of the washer to keep it stable. That took care of the rocking, but still noisy, leaking water and now it gets off balance when spinning and stops. It also wont start sometimes and you can smell it overheating. The transmission is now going out of it. This thing has been one issue after another. What is worse about it is I saw in another forum that this washer wasnt even made by Maytag. Supposedly Maytag bought? After the purchase, they just put their name on it. I bought a Maytag because of the dependability of their previous products, so Im thoroughly disappointed in their company and products. If I had wanted a washer built by some other company, I would have purchased it versus theirs. If you purchase a Maytag, you expect to get a product designed and built by them. Ill never buy another Maytag product and Ill thoroughly research the product Ill buy to replace this hunk of junk. My advice would be dont waste your money on Maytag.

July 2011, I bought a top loader Maytag washer from Best Buy. In October, after I had the washer just a little over 3 months, it quit working. Dead. I called Best Buy that said they only stand behind a product for 3 months and since mine was about 3 months and 2 weeks old, I had to contact Maytag to fix it. When I contacted Maytag, it took them 3 long, angry, upsetting phone calls before they finally made an appointment for someone to come look at it the next week. I was without a washer for 9 days and when the man came, he said it was too new for parts. He would order a new latch (apparently, he thought it was not latched and so would not run), but it would take a while to get it in. Hed call me. 3 weeks later it and he showed up. He said apparently, the latches were bad because the new one didnt work either. He would order one more and if it didnt work, he would have to order a new back panel and it could take a few months, instead of weeks, for it to come in. The second new latch finally came in and the washer still did not work! However, he reprogrammed its computer to accept the new part and it finally worked. By now, it was the end of January 2012! My new washer I had paid for in 3 payments had been broken down longer than it had run! Best Buy said basically, you buy it, its your problem. Maytag said basically the same thing. They were hateful and it took over 10 phone calls to get anything done! I was not reimbursed for any laundromat usage, gas or phone minutes, of course! I was treated like I was expecting something that I had no right to have, a working product. Once I bought the product, it was my problem and not theirs. The end. I will never buy another Maytag product!

They, however, have a couple flaws I dont want to live with again and will be looking for one that has come up with the solution to them. Updated on 02/13/2021: Maytag stove purchased 15 years ago for about $500. Replaced mother board about 5 years ago which wasnt cheap, but otherwise, stove has performed with no problems and still looks and behaves like a new stove.Original review: Our 6-7 year old well cared for Maytag range oven recently stopped working. After a service call for diagnostics, it was determined the electronic module controlling the clock and all oven functions was dead. We were told by the Maytag service tech the module cost was 300$. That cost plus labor for less than an hour, plus the 60$ diagnostic visit came to almost 500$ which is close to cost of a new stove. The technician answered yes to my question, Do you replace a lot of these? He also said the cause may be power fluctuations making me think that surely there is a way to prevent this kind of failure. So, since the price seemed exorbitant, I wrote Maytag to inquire about causation/prevention, etc. I received a fairly prompt and polite reply with totally no explanation. I wrote another email with relatively the same results. I dont recommend buying an electronically controlled Maytag stove.

MF12269VEM7 - I purchased a refrigerator in September 2013 and my ice maker stopped working within 1 month of delivery. I had the motor and ice assembly changed 3 times and over 12 service visits within the first 6 months. I had the motor and ice assembly replaced in March 2014 and they offered to extend my warranty for a year. My ice maker has stopped working again. When calling Maytag customer service, I spoke to the Supervisor who will pay for the parts but require me to pay for the service calls. As well they only have a 6-month warranty extension on file. This fridge is obviously a lemon but they will not take any ownership because I did not purchase an extended warranty! The Supervisor state he does not report to anyone and he has the final say regarding my service. I will never buy a Maytag again. A year and a half of ongoing problems and no solution.

I have Maytag dishwasher model # MDB7609AWB2. I purchased it from Sears on 5.30.10. It was installed 3 weeks later. From June 2010 through November 2011, the dishwasher has stopped working 3 times, every 6 months, requiring a service call to fix the electrical /circuit board problems. The aggravation of owning a poorly built machine and inconvenience of waiting for Sears to send a repair person has sealed our decision to stop doing business with Sears and Maytag.

Maytag Range Precision Touch Control 800 Electric Smoothtop - The racks in the oven fall down. I have replaced them with new ones but am having the same problem. I emailed my concerns to Maytag a few months ago but didnt get any response (so perhaps I didnt go to the right site). The oven was purchased in early 2008 and this is the only problem I have had with it. If I am extremely careful, I can bake cookies but if I try baking or roasting anything heavy, the racks fall. It is very frustrating but I was pleased, for lack of a better word, to see that someone else was having the same problem - at least I know it isnt just me. I will try contacting Maytag again.

Within the first 2 years, the dryer stopped heating. After a $300, a few parts and a few attempts to repair the dryer worked again. The sensor still kept saying check the vent and we gave up and removed the outside vent cover. Works great now. The washer worked great until year 4 when it began to sound like a helicopter. It got so bad that it literally hurt my ears and could be heard outside. It also leaked. Called repairman and they couldnt even remove the drum because it had rusted solid. After a total of 4 years we are replacing the set. Do not WASTE your money!

Bought a Maytag dishwasher (Model #MDBH979SAM0) three years ago. Four weeks ago the control panel wouldnt work correctly. No matter what cycle I attempted to select, other cycle buttons lit up. The start button did not light and the cancel button would not turn off. I called a repair guy, he came out and said Maytag was having a lot of problems with the control panels. He reset the machine and finally got it working again. He said he wasnt able to get a new control panel from Maytag due to demand/delay in manufacturing. Today the control panel went out again. Based on all the other reviews Im not sure its feasible to put more money in this machine. Ill research other dishwashers and get one that has a better performance record. DO NOT BUY A MAYTAG.

13 months after purchasing my Maytag dishwasher, it started operating by itself. I woke up one morning around 2:00 to it working, and I know I didnt put it on! I only use the auto clean cycle (that decides how dirty the dishes are, and is the cycle you use to conserve water). I dont use heat dry at all. Anyway, now I go to use the dishwasher and even though I press the auto clean button, the normal/heat dry/delay start buttons flash on. I try canceling this cycle out; sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. I dont see Maytag as reliable anymore.

On February 2006, I purchased a Maytag Quiet Series 300 Dishwasher and on July 2007, a motor leak. Maytag fixed it for free even though it was out of warranty. Thereafter (December 2008), the touch pad failed and I replaced it for $50. It is now August 2011, and that new touch pad is bad again, and this time, the part is $170. The Maytag will not run and the lighted display will not function from the start button. This was a $450 dishwasher that is now only five years old and useless. In all fairness to Maytag, their customer service is very good and willing to work with customers. Unfortunately, the product is very inferior in my opinion. To have stupid stuff like a control touch pad failing every three years is absurd and the replacement cost makes fixing it a bad investment.I will be going out this weekend and buying a brand-new inexpensive dishwasher that is on sale for $229. This model is not a Whirlpool product but it is a name brand.

I purchased this dryer in September 2011. By August 2012, one month before the warranty expires, the thermo fuse blew and the dryer would not dry; no heat. I replaced fuse and 30 days later, it blew again. I replaced it again and now, March 2013, 6 months later, the same thing; the thermo fuse blew, no heat. The vent is clean and air flow is very good. Maytag will not admit a problem. This is not an inexpensive dryer; it may be cheap, but not inexpensive. Maytag quality appears to have vanished. I have Maytag throughout the house but will think twice before purchasing Maytag again. Chinese produced parts/products are inferior. Maybe Ill look at Bosch or LG from now on.

My old Maytag is still working after 20 years but my husband surprised me with a new pair! Washers is just pure junk. Not enough water to hardly wet the clothes. They just rub together and get worn out looking, towels are rough and not soft but my biggest complaint is the AWFUL wrinkles! I have to iron everything! Only had it 3 days, called Menards and asked if we could return for an exchange or upgrade and they said no. If this is the best American Made has to offer, then I will look at the Samsung! Shame on you Maytag. Not one good review on here and you do nothing to restore confidence in American Made. I will spread the word - NEVER by a Maytag or an appliance from Menards. Neither one stands behind the piece of junk!

We bought ALL new Maytag appliances for our home when we rebuilt after it was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. We got the top of the line of every appliance. Our Maytag dryer model MDE2706AYW has broke for the 2nd time and cost to repair this time forces me to replace it. The dryer felts, idler pulley and belt went out several weeks ago. Used it about a week and the drum quit turning. The repair tech said the aluminum pulley for the belt on the motor is broke. The pulley is not serviced/available and you have to buy a new motor assembly. This puts repair price on up there where replacing the dryer is the only option. We are going shopping for a new dryer today. It wont be a Maytag.2 years ago, our Maytag washer broke. The repair tech said the transmission went out and it would cost less to replace the washer than to try and repair the Maytag washer. We bought a new washer, different brand. About 3 years ago, we had to have our Maytag dishwasher control panel replaced and 2 months later the pump housing broke. Repair tech said cost more to repair than new. Replaced with different brand.Shortly out of warranty, our Maytag Microwave broke. Everything worked except it would not heat anything. The repair tech said cost more to fix than new. Replaced with different brand. All we have left is the refrigerator which has had 2 expensive repairs done on it and the stove which has had the control board and several heating elements changed. I will never buy another Maytag product.

This Maytag (Whirlpool) model MDB7749SBMI dishwasher was purchased 10/28/13
This Maytag (Whirlpool) model MDB7749SBMI dishwasher was purchased 10/28/13 at Home Depot. That makes it 2 1/2 years old to date. It has been a good dishwasher up until now. A few weeks ago I noticed it was doing something wonky. First of all it was not responding its usual way when I tried to turn it on after closing the door. The start button was not responding immediately, nor were some of the other buttons. I also noticed that after the dry cycle had completed and the door was then opened to unload, that the lights on the door were flashing. Then, when I shut the door after unloading the dishes, the washer would come on without having any buttons pushed. Recently, in addition to the difficulty we are experiencing getting it to start, the washer will keep running without ever turning off. Last night I turned it on before going to bed, and it was still running this morning. Calling the service number, the control panel part will run around $150, with a $98 charge for repairman to come out. Who knows if that 98$ isnt just to walk in the door, and whether that includes the time it takes to install the part. The dishwasher was around $400 with my husbands military discount from Home Depot, so it seems crazy to spend that kind of money to have a part replaced that is going to break again because of PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE. If that part is replaced (at half the cost of the dishwasher) whos to say what other part is going to break next, perhaps requiring another service call plus price of part. So, conclusion is to throw this one in the landfill and purchase another dishwasher, sadly. The case of Planned Obsolescence is reflected in many of the comments/reports here on Consumer Affairs. The age of the failing control panels of the Maytag/Whirlpool washers are running around the same time spans. No doubt in my mind that these control panels are designed to fail after a specific amount of run cycles/time on this machine. These appliance companies that are manufacturing these total crap appliances so that people will have to buy replacements within 3 or 4 years are filling our already packed landfills while robbing the consumer. Its plain to see for all who care to investigate the matter. A service repairman whom Ive used for years and has been in the business for 25, told me that most appliances today are total pieces of junk compared what they used to be and are designed to fail. He said it has greatly impacted his business because people are replacing appliances versus repairing them because it is not cost effective to have them repaired. He also added that the guts of these appliances looked like they were made from Cracker Jack toy quality plastic materials. There should be laws to stop these manufactures from Planned Obsolescence, and we need to go back to the way appliances use to be made... to last! I have no idea what its going to take to ever see that happen. This is what happens when you have very little competition and 2 major appliance manufacturers. More parts are being designed to fail, so that they can line their pockets. Pitiful.

In July 2006, we purchased a Neptune Washer. The only problem we had with it is it does NOT spin the water out of the clothes after the wash cycle. This has been going on for about 4 years. In February 2012, we had a service person to examine the washer. According to the service person, there is nothing wrong with the washer. He said to put in clothing of the same type: All towels, all jeans, all pillowcases, etc. This is not the real world. This cost me a service call with no solution. On June 10, I called Maytag on my issues. They have no recalls or issues with this washer. They recommended another service call which I refused. I even offered the washer free of charge to the person I was talking to, but did not get a response. Never again will I purchase a product from this company.

My new dishwasher had a defective board and worked erratically. Shortly after the warranty was up it stopped working completely. I contact both Maytag service and Home Depot on several occasions with no satisfaction. This a well known defect. Apparently the board replacement and service would cost in the range of $250-300. Too much for me as a senior on fixed income to justify. No dishwasher for almost a year. I then read an article indicating there was a class action settlement in California on the same make and model. I called Maytag again and after spending 2.5 hours on the phone I finally reach a person who sent out a service repair person. This person showed me a memo confirming the problem with the board. No recall but... if a customer is persistent they will give you the board. Finally new board installed at no charge.

We are a family of nine so I wash a lot of laundry. We bought this washing
We are a family of nine so I wash a lot of laundry. We bought this washing machine a month ago and hoped it would perform like our prior one. The problems are many. It is too smart for its own good- it requires a cleaning after every 30 washes but gives you zero warning beforehand so you will already have the clothes in and started the cycle when it will stop the cycle saying it needs cleaned. There is nothing you can do to override the cleaning cycle, so you are forced to remove your sopping wet clothes and run the cleaning cycle- wasting time and money on precious water! It also wants you to use its specialty affresh to clean it with, adding cost we hadnt planned on. Then you cant tell when to put the clothes in as it tells you to start the washer and then add the clothes, but if you put the clothes in first sometimes it wont start because it wont sense properly, and if you start it without the clothes. Then when you stop to add the clothes it wont start it with the clothes in it- which way does the machine want it?! So it is a guessing game as if the washing cycle will even start. And the washer wont hold as many clothes as our last one did. If there are too many clothes, the cycle will stop and it will refuse to wash until some are removed. Whenever there is a problem starting, which in one month has been four times now for us, it is a huge guessing game as to what is wrong for why it wont start. I dont need this kind of frustration! Further, the locking mechanism in the washer is plastic, and I know from experience that plastic parts will be the first to break. Had I realized this before purchasing, I would have looked for a metal locking device. My guess is when it does break, the whole washer will break. Also, from day one, it has made a sound that Im not sure is normal. It sounds almost like grinding gears every time each various phase starts or stops (washing, rinsing, draining, etc.). I sincerely hope this isnt a manufacturer defect as we didnt buy the extended warranty. We researched this model before buying and many were happy with it but I hate this washer! I loved my last Samsung washer but it rusted all over after just five and a half years even though it still worked great, so I didnt want to buy Samsung again so we took a chance with this Maytag. I am regretting this purchase. I consider myself to be a person easy to please. I want a washer that works that wont rust that you can put a ton of clothes in and throw it in the wash and forget about it. I dont want all this high-tech sensing stuff that just messes up and is highly inaccurate in what it senses! Why cant companies offer a simple, high quality product anymore that works, without the added costly features?! The model number is: MVW6230HW0. Avoid this model number.

I purchased a white Maytag gas stove over 12 years ago. It has been great and never caused any problems. I live alone and rarely use the oven. However, I use the stovetop daily for cooking. With continual use, it has a lot of nicks and scratches. It also has stains inside the glass oven panel that I cant clean. The glass would have to be removed in order to clean inside. This is why I give a rating of 4 stars. If I used the oven more frequently, I would notice if it had any problems with the temperature, proper cooking, etc. and could give a more accurate rating. I have small toaster oven and therefore, I cook practically all of my meals in the toaster oven.

Never EVER had an issue with it and it still runs perfectly. Well, just out of warranty in May of 2015, the ice maker stopped working in the new Maytag. Called and got service. Learned there was a recalled part. Service man fixed. 2 days later, it broke again. They came back out and fixed again. This time, the motor was REALLY LOUD. They came out to replace that. Now, both the freezer and refrigerator are not properly cooling. Cannot keep ice cream and cannot make ice. Called again. I was told these dual fan systems simply do not work. We bought a new dishwasher 2 years ago. Top of the line Maytag Model #MDB8959SBW3 $749 plus tax. We bought this one because they told us what a great 10 year warranty it had. Found out that is a lie. The only thing the 10 year warranty covers is the stainless steel tub, the racks and chopper blade. The stop button on the control panel (circuit board) quit working and the dishwasher wouldnt start. When I called Maytag they said So sorry. It broke so soon, but that is not covered. We were told by a repair shop that Maytag has had nothing but problems with their control panel and the control panel part alone is $150 plus tax plus installation. Our old Maytag lasted 13 years and was still running great, but needed to be replaced because the racks were rusting out. I wish I would have kept the old one. I bought a Maytag Bravos washing machine from Lowes in Ocala in Feb 2017. It broke in March 2017. I was referred to a company called Fields Appliance in Orlando Fl. I scheduled a repair under warranty last Friday between 1-4 pm. No one showed up. No one called. I called and called and nothing. BEWARE.

I purchased a Maytag Gemini gas range in July 2006. Rust has appeared on the bottom of both oven doors. I called Maytag customer service, realizing that my range was no longer covered by warranty. However, I feel the paint on a range, costing over $1,000, should last longer than 5 years. Customer service told me to call a repair technician. When I asked who would pay for this service call, they didnt even bother to respond to me. As I have read other reviews of dissatisfied Maytag Range owners, Im glad I didnt waste money calling a repair tech who would do nothing to help, but charge a $100 plus fee. The paint on a car, which is subjected to all kinds of weather, lasts much longer than 5 years. You would think the paint on an appliance inside a home should last much longer. This rust is becoming very unsightly. I will certainly not purchase a Maytag product again, as the company has proved they do not stand behind their product line.
