We bought this dishwasher on 7/8/2013 which is my wifes birthday and boy was that a mistake in many ways! I had 5 service calls on my Maytag Dishwasher MDB7749SBM1 before it went out of warranty. It has issues with the ribbon cable and controller and the control lights are like a disco on the keypad. Now it gets so hot I cant touch the door when its running. So I have had to turn off the power and go get a new dishwasher next weekend which WILL NOT be a Maytag!

In my owners manual, the description to replace the oven light shows a simple process of removing a glass bulb cover within the oven itself and then unscrewing the ordinary looking light bulb. However, Maytag made a design change and now uses a complete unit that combines the bulb, the glass cover and the bulb holder. This requires you to pull the stove out from the wall, open up the back of the oven, bend some retaining tabs around the light unit and then remove the whole unit. The killer is, Maytag has made this disgusting, usurious design change in order to force you to pay over $50 US plus taxes and shipping for the replacement unit, instead of $6 CDN ($4.50 US) for a light bulb that you can buy anywhere and can easily change yourself in a couple of minutes within the oven itself. But now you will probably have to call in a repair guy to make this replacement for you. When manufacturers start doing things like that, its time to stop buying their products. I will certainly never use Maytag again, and Ill make sure any other oven manufacturer Ill consider is not doing anything similar.

Purchased an Admiral Washer on 07/19/2010 from Home Depot in May of 2011 was washing clothes and washer flooded my wash room. Cold water would not turn off. Had to use shutoff valve on wall. Called for service through Maytags toll free number it took me 10 days to get through, then I was told that they did not have anyone in my area that could fix my washer that was still under warranty and there was nothing they could do. I called Home Depot and they said there was nothing they could do it was the manufactor problem.I Called several appliance repair places that advertise as maytag repair and they would not touch it!Called back in July of 2011 could not reach anyone at maytag service. My warranty expired 07/19/2011,yesterday 08/08/2011 I recieved a letter from Maytag wanting me to buy an extended warranty.I called an ask them why I should buy an extended warranty when they wouldnt even honor the original warranty they pulled up the records where I had called for service and told me I should have kept calling back that they take care of their customers etc. etc. but there was nothing they could do now because the washer was out of warranty.I called about a new water valve for this washer $56 for part $100 for labor including service call. Now I faced with a decision try to repair this piece of junk or scrap it a buy a new washer( not a Maytag or a Whirlpool) I am not rich I am elderly and live on a fixed income, it took me 6 months to pay off this washer at Home Depot!!!!!

I purchased a bottom freezer Maytag refrigerator two years ago. It recently began leaking water onto the floor from the freezer compartment. I just had it serviced and the serviceman told me that it was a common problem. The duck-billed check valve gets plugged. This is a problem with Maytag, Jenn-Air, Whirlpool, Amana, and KitchenAid refrigerators as they all share the same manufacturer. There is a service bulletin out on this that lists hundreds of model numbers affected by the problem (Technical Service Pointer #: W10632338). I think it is criminal that consumers are expected to pay hundreds of dollars to have this manufacturers defect repaired. I tried to find a place with the government to file a complaint, but wasnt clear who had jurisdiction. Perhaps a class action suit is in order. There have to be millions of consumers potentially facing this problem. Anyone with any knowledge of how to further pursue this defect, please comment.

Having had a household for over 40 years we have had a few washers come and go. I hate to say it but this line of washers should go. Worst pile of junk parts I have seen. Bought it from Costco a few years ago based on past histories of Maytags. Was I ever so wrong. It has never worked well. I chalked it up to being Water Efficient but after reading over 8 pages of scornful reviews, I was mistaken. Water level is always too low to do anything so clothes are needing rewashed. Have reverted to using the Bulky setting to do general washing as that fills the tub about 1/4 of the way. Then the spin cycles stops due to unbalanced load and loud banging of the wash drum, EVERY LOAD!!! And now for the past month Code DL pops up saying it is taking too long to drain. I have checked all hoses for blockages, none seen. And with the glass top, you can SEE the washer NOT WORKING right. We have a door on the laundry room and even with it closed the volume is over 70 dB and can overpower most conversations in our family room 20 feet away. I have been told that Costco may take it back but why punish Costco members for a design failure of Maytag??? Has anyone thought about a Class Action Lawsuit? The Bravos Quiet Series 400 dryer match to this washer has so far been flawless. I may have to dig the 20 year old Whirlpool washer out of the storage shed to replace this Maytag. Sad. I want to state my true feelings but I will not use profanity here.

Our home has seven Maytag appliances: an upstairs kitchen, downstairs suite
Our home has seven Maytag appliances: an upstairs kitchen, downstairs suite and laundry room. All were brand new six years ago and what we thought to be good quality by the price we paid for them. We have lived to regret ever dropping a cent into Maytags business account, as we have had nothing but trouble with them. We dont have small kids or teenagers abusing them. Its just us and a very responsible single adult downstairs. And every time we turn around, one of them is costing us nothing but money and grief. Our first problems began with our upstairs fridge when it was only two years old. At that time, it cost us $400 and since then, it just goes on and on. Last week, our downstairs fridge quit, and today, our upstairs one quit. We have had work done on our range, as well as our washing machine and dishwasher. If you are thinking of buying a Maytag appliance, dont, unless you like to throw away your money. I couldnt believe when I looked up Consumer Reviews on Maytag appliances tonight that I would find only 1 out of 5 stars, and read all the terrible reviews written by angry consumers. Well, add me to the list because I will never buy another appliance from Maytag again, and am beginning to think its time to sell this house to get rid of these stupid, useless, pieces of ** Maytag appliances! Sorry, people, but I cant afford to keep replacing them!

Washing Machine MVWC6ESWW - The fourth time was October 12; I called. Shreka at Maytag said she would send someone out at no cost on October 15, between 12-5 pm. Justin called from AE at 5:05 pm stating he was on his way. He then asked for my receipts. We were moving and had packed many things. He said he would call and find out. He said they were out 7/2011, 9/2011 and again 9/2011 all for the same problem. I requested in September 2011 that this was a lemon and send me another. I was assured if the same problem occurs, it would be covered. Well Justin said it isnt covered anymore and it was due to being made overseas. The cost to fix it is around $350 to $400. The washer cost me $383.40, plus I bought the matching dryer of $403.39. This makes zero since. Please advise.

Purchased my Bravos June 2012. This is a horrible washer. It does not clean. It leaves a detergent scum line on clothing. My work clothes are visibly soiled and sometimes come out in a tangled mess. Maytag ignored a first complaint from my wife. I complained again today. Regardless what Maytag does, I will purchase another brand after research. We bought on Maytag’s reputation.

Every 3 months, the freezer compartment needs to be dismantled to unclog the defrost drain hole. When this occurs, it dumps all the defrost all over the base of the freezer which then leaks water out of the freezer door all over the floor. Clearly a design flaw and Maytag will not acknowledge this but appliance repairman says these are notorious for this. A $1700 fridge shouldnt do this. Never will I buy a Maytag again, a complete POS.

I have had this washer (top loading washer model MVWX550XW0) almost 2 years. It has ruined some of my clothes. It does not properly wash anything. I have tried every possible solution. I cannot use the HE powder detergent - it will not rinse out. I tried using less than required and double rinse, absolutely did not overload. Even using the HE liquid still did not get clothes clean. I used the number one detergent to the cheaper brand - it makes no difference. I still have to double rinse everything. Small throw rugs will not even get totally wet or clean. I took clothes to the laundromat just to make sure it was the washer. It is this washer. I know I have waited too long to register my complaint, but I have basically thrown away $1200. Also, loads of clothes would take up to 1 & 1/2 to 2 hours to wash. Now that is definitely not energy efficient. I would love for you to pick it up and bring me a standard washer and dryer. I work for a research firm and know when companies really care about their customers. I will be interested to see if the Maytag Man really cares. The only reason I did not check angry is because of my delayed response.

Same issues as many others here, had to replace the main control board a couple of months after the warranty period was up. Funny thing is though, I brought the old board into my local electronic repair shop thinking it might be worth getting it fixed in order to have a spare on hand in case the new one was also short lived... He told me he examined the board and there was nothing physically wrong... The problem he said was in the programming or firmware. Unfortunately, he said Maytag does not offer an update and there is no way to clone the newer version from my new board onto the old one so it was garbage. Seriously Maytag? Hundreds of dollars later in parts and melted groceries all because you wont issue a firmware update? Also have water leaking out of the bottom of the fridge late at night so Im never awake to troubleshoot it. Considering how sporadic it seems to be, Im guessing it must have something to do with the defrost cycle... Have to figure it out though as its starting to cause damage to the floor and leaking down to the basement :( Never again Maytag.

I bought this Maytag dishwasher model # MDB7749SBM2 and of course it ran great until the warranty was up and then the touch pad started acting up where if you would press normal every other thing would light up. I replaced the keypad and then the controller and its working at this point again. The keypad ribbon cable had a big burn mark in it and by all these complaints it seems like an issue Maytag has and does not want to address. Luckily I work on electrical and was able to do this myself and I had no labor but over $300.00 in parts. What upsets me is I bought because of the reputation and the Made in America on it and it was replacing a 20 yr old Kenmore that was still working great when I took it out. With all the complaints about the same issue Maytag which is Whirlpool would step up to the plate and fix this. No more Maytags/Whirlpool for me again.

Didnt even want to put 1 star but that is the lowest you can give. Maytag microwave less than a year old paid $350. Door clasp broke. Took two weeks to send a repairman out, he came out and of course did not have the part -- took another week to get it. Fixed the door and then he crashed and burned the microwave shorted it out and now it is totally dead. That was 2 1/2 weeks ago. Maytag refuses to replace the microwave and insists that the same incompetent service company come out and fix it. Meanwhile I have to call Maytag every other day to find out when the correct part to repair the microwave will be in. Was told it would be in two days ago. Never got a call to schedule the repair, called today to find out they never even ordered the part. Here goes another week without my microwave. Not only does Maytag have horrible customer service, they manage to find unskilled repair techs with equally horrible customer service! Will never ever buy another May useless Tag appliance again.

I bought a Maytag dishwasher (Model: MDBH949AWS2) from Home Depot on 07 April 11 and it died 24 August 11. I called Maytag to set up an appointment for repair. The repair person showed up and stated that the control panel needed to be replaced. Apparently, if moisture gets into the panel it shorts it out. One would think that when designing an appliance that utilizes water and creates steam, it would be sealed. Anyway, the repairman explained that because the dishwasher was in a residential program, the warranty was null and void. I wish that someone would have explained this before I purchased it. I went online to AppliancePartsPro.com and ordered the part for $100.75 including the shipping cost. Then, I went back online to look up how to install the panel. The repair person said that they are charging $133.00 for the part and $129.00 to install. A small star tip screwdriver and 15 minutes was all it took to fix. From what I have read, this will not be the last control panel but, at least, I know how to fix it. Another thing that I know is that Maytag is off my list of future appliance purchases regardless of where Im using them.

I own a MAYTAG BRAVOS XL* TOP-LOADING HIGH EFFICIENCY LOW-WATER WASHER. On 9/1/15, after reporting a problem, a service person arrived to assess the problem. His diagnosis led to a second visit on 9/8. On the second visit he replaced multiple parts, assuring us that the problem was fixed. When this proved to be false, we called for a third visit; this time a different person arrived. After disassembling the washer he found a large hole and another cracked area in the inner plastic portion of the tub. We made a fourth appointment for repairs, receiving assurances that it would be repaired at that time. I received an e-mail today (9/16/15) informing me that an additional 7 days would be required to arrange for delivery the required part. In the interim, my wife and I are forced to use a local coin operated laundry about every three days, totaling 7 visits at approximately $25 and 3 hours per visit before the next scheduled appointment. The compensation offered, 9 months extension of the existing warranty is woefully inadequate. I want the appliance replaced, as history has taught me that you are obviously unwilling or incapable of repairing it correctly in a timely manner. Additionally, I want the initial warranty that accompanies a new product extended to a full 3 years. We have paid out over $150 and wasted 18 to 21 hours of our time unnecessarily. I expect compensation for the funds spent as a direct result of the bungling, incompetence of your service staff. My questions are these: 1. Was the part defective prior to installation? 2. If so, why did the representative not notice it and refrain from installing a broken part? 3. Why was there no mention of the damage on the first visit? 4. If not, how did the damage occur? Did the service man damage it and fail to report it? 5. What caused the delay in obtaining the part? I have other questions, but will no longer spend any more time on this debacle. I cannot honestly say which is worse, their quality or their pathetic version of customer service.

I had to rate at least a one star because there isn’t a negative to rate. We bought the Maytag mvwb955fc1. First off it doesn’t clean our clothes. I can not get stains out or whites bright. I don’t feel it uses enough water. I put a full load in and it only fills up less than half with water. I try half loads and still not clean. It’s always shutting off when I wash sheets. Indicating it’s off balance. Today I started it before work and the lid exploded. I don’t think I want to even replace it at all. This could have seriously hurt someone. Do not buy this washing machine. The dryer is great so far. I wish I could post a photo to show you all.

Bought the Maytag top load high efficiency washer (also matching dryer which works perfectly) brand new less than 6 months ago. It is the worst. It leaves swirl marks on my clothes that doesnt come out. Leaves part of clothing dry without being a large load! If I put sheets in there it blows up like a mushroom and leaves that part dry. I use the correct detergent. I had a serviceman, that the manufacturer suggested, check it and determined there is nothing wrong with it which only leads me to the conclusion that it is a poorly designed product. Spoke to a manager at Maytag that said the machine works fine. And because it is in a business setting there is nothing they can do. (What? If it worked fine, I wouldnt be here.) Called to company I bought it from... Theres nothing wrong with the machine plus we are closing the business so its the manufacturer warranty that you need to call them. I would have been happy with a exchange. Poor design, poor customer service.

We purchased the Maytag Bravos XL MCT washer and dryer in July of 2013 and have been completely and totally dissatisfied with every use since. We immediately contacted the store where we purchased them and were told we had to contact Maytag. We contacted Maytag on numerous occasions only to be read ridiculous solutions from a notebook that were no different than the instructions in the users manual and never worked. We had our first set of washer (with agitator) and dryer for 23 wonderful years. The washer absolutely does not work. The decision to remove the agitator and reduce the water levels is absurd. The soap does not get distributed, the lack of water causes loads of clothes or sheets to get rolled up into tight balls with no hope of being cleaned, and the spin cycle is so powerful it rips your clothes apart unnecessarily. The dryer is smaller than the washer and cannot handle the same size load the washer can put out and typically requires more than one cycle to complete a drying. All in all this has been the most painful experience we have ever had with any appliance. We are completely dissatisfied with both the store where we purchased these units and the complete and total lack of response from Maytag after requesting either of them to take back these units or make some equitable adjustment so we could purchase different units. We have reached a point where we will most likely store these Maytag units in the garage and purchase a new washer and dryer, being forced to accept the financial loss.

I bought this washer (Bravos Washer Model MVWX655DW) in June 2017. My wife and I did plenty of research and only complaint at that time was that it made load clicking noises. We bought it and it worked fine but never really filled with water to a level which would cover the clothes. Today I ran a load and brownish water was seeping out from underneath. When I lifted the machine my floor was covered with old stains which looked like oil or grease. I called a local service company and when they found out which model I had they refused to look at it. They said that particular model was known for having issues and when they fixed it, something else would go. They recommended looking online for reviews and calling Maytag.I did so and after explaining the situation to Maytag, they offered to send a technician to look at it to diagnose, not free of charge of course. While I cannot tell you avoid a particular company, I can say MY family will never buy Maytag again. If a washer is well known for having issues within its first 3 years and a company will not try to make it right simply because theres no recall on it I will spend my money elsewhere. Seems fishy that this machine has a ton of 1 star reviews within the last two months and Maytag does not want to eat the cost of servicing their junk.

Bravos 4.3 High Efficiency Washer - The worst washer ever. I recently returned from burying my step-mother. She actually used the same washer and dryer, by Maytag, for over 50 years. Those days are gone forever. This is my second set of Maytags in ten years. The first literally stopped working just after the first year warranty ran out. I still have them inside my pantry, like a set of anchors. Notwithstanding that, I thought, Maytag was a good brand, it must have just been the style of machines, so I purchased these in January. After over six months of usage, I am amazed at how many times I have to wash a single load of clothing to get the items clean. Who cares if the machine saves water? What was wrong with having an agitator? I literally have to remove freshly laundered clothing, turn it over and run the wash again to get the top of the laundry clean. I have had a blanket finish for the fourth time to get it clean, only to have to hang it outside because it is so full of water, the weight keeps it from spinning properly. And why would you remove a timer feature which permits very busy, working people, to wash their items while they are on the way home or in the middle of the night so that there is no waiting to pop the clothes in the dryer? None of the cycles takes less than 80 minutes to complete. Who has 80 minutes to wait on the washer to do its job? I am so upset about the amount of money I spent on all of these machines. Just think, I could have brought the over 50 years old set home from my step-mothers and had a washer and dryer do what they were supposed to do -- clean the clothes.

Ive been a Maytag consumer since 1980. I bought washer, dryer, refrigerator and a smooth top oven. I replaced the washer and dryer with the Bravos series on November 22, 2011. Everything was fine until 6 weeks ago. The bearing went bad under the drum. 2 techs and 2 weeks later, at the cost of $527 and change spent on repair for a $650.00 machine, I started to look into reviews. Not! Can you say class action lawsuit! The fine gentlemen informed me 5 years ago about the Canada buyout, a local retailer that only sold Maytags. We bought a Maytag appliance package when we built our house in 2015. So far the exchange Fan burned out in the fridge. The element burned out on the range. The wheels broke off inside the dishwasher on the racks inside and the outside of the white dishwasher is rusting worse than 1959 Edsel. 3.5 years old. Broken and rusty. I called and emailed Maytag customer service and all they say is it’s out of warranty and they’re sorry. Things break I get it but if they said on the box when I purchased it that it would rust in 3.5 years I would have looked at and purchased another brand. Beware of the cheaply made poor customer service of the new Maytag.

I had a tub failure on my washer Whirlpool Duet, which I bought brand new and it lasted 12 years with no problems. The dryer is still in use at my sons house. However, this failure lead me on a search for a set to replace the duet. I did some research and found the Maytag 6.2 Cu. Ft top loader and huge Dryer to match. The set was not cheap and it did have high marks for a great washer. So, I bought them both and had them delivered on 12/30/16. I have read all the owners manual and watched YouTube videos to see how to use this machine with all its pretty lights and sounds. I will concede that the machines look great, very impressive in my laundry room. I would bet it would even be a plus when I go to sell the house.THAT is all the nice stuff I can say. The machine does not clean clothes and I have done all the settings. I have changed laundry detergents, and even tried to add a little more water with a bucket at the start of the wash. (Saw that one on YouTube.) REALLY. That did not work, nor should I have to do that to get it to clean well. The answer seems to be, set the machine on FULL tub of water. So, I tried that for a couple of times and found that the clothes just float around and since they do not touch the Wear Plate they dont get clean. My wife (yes, I am a man that does most of the laundry) said she hates the washer and I was an idiot for buying this expensive piece of metal that does nothing but take up space and leaves spots on your clothes. Have you heard the term Happy Wife-Happy Life. Well not so much for me now.Spending money even $2,500.00 on a washer and dryer seems a little crazy. But I had the extra money and I have always wanted a MAYTAG. These guys know how to make a washer. Boy was I wrong, this machine must be an embarrassment to Maytag. I know I am really shocked that you would sell this machine as top of the line. I am not sure what Maytag will do, but I thought I would give you a chance to make this right. I have attached pictures of the machines installed and pictures of the model number plates. I have faith that Maytag will step up. My wife said this was a waste of time. The ball is in your court Maytag. (Come on Maytag let me win this one.) - Just a man and his dirty clothes.

We purchased a Maytag Front Load Washer in April 2011. We did not purchase an extended warranty. From the beginning, it didnt seem to clean as well as our 12 year old top load Whirlpool had. Then in Summer 2013 it began to create fabric pulls in fine fabrics - tablecloths, blouses, etc. Whirlpool sent a repairman who charged $90 to tell us that the drum needed to be replaced because of a rough spot. He ordered a new drum and we understood that it would be replaced because it was within the 5 year manufacturers warranty on drums, but we would have to pay for installation. 2 months later, Whirlpool informed us they could not supply the new drum. Why are replacement parts not available for a 2 year old machine? The customer service rep told me that they would replace the machine for 15 percent of the cost of a new machine. All I needed to do would be to pick out a machine and let customer service know the model number and they would make arrangements and contact me re: payment of the 15%. When I contacted them again I was told that I would be expected to pay $508.00. That is 15% of a $3000.00 machine. It it completely unfair. Later, I was told that the first rep I spoke to must have been wrong because they dont pro rate replacements on a percentage basis. I told them that I was not interested and they have lost a good Whirlpool customer. In the last 15 years we have purchased 7 appliances made by Whirlpool. Never again! I am not impressed by their customer service.

After 6 months of use, I still HATE my Maytag washer. I will never buy Maytag again! The machine must be tricked into adding additional water to wash. It begins to agitate with very little water! Destroying my clothes! Also, I am having to hand wash all my underpants. They do not come out clean. If I could send it back, I would! Feel totally ripped off! I would give 0 stars, if I could!

Washer would stop right after it started. I googled the problem and found out it was a bad lock. These Bravo XL units were purchased in 2015. Called an appliance repair and they charged me $250 to replace the lock (service call was $98.00 and labor was $90). The repairman left and I started the washer. There was a loud sound coming from it. I called the repairman back and he said it was the gear case and basket. He said the basket was covered under the warranty but the gear case wasnt. Would be about $750 to fix....no way was I paying the cost of a new washer to fix this less than 4 yr old one. I called Maytag. They couldnt help me. I should have purchased an extended warranty they said. The cost to purchase the extended warranty is now $394.00 per year....please do not purchase a Maytag/Whirlpool appliance unless you like buying extended warranties.

Purchased washer in Jan 2013. Average usage is 1 load per week. Last week the washer started leaking from the rear left side. A service call discovered that the bleach dispenser was filling up with water and overflowing. Bleach dispenser?? I never use it! Seems that the new bleach dispenser hose line has a relief valve whereas the original part did not. Internet research has confirmed that this problem is very common with this make and model. However, a call to Maytag requesting what compensation, if any, would be available resulted in a response that basically was too bad... so sad... cant do anything for you! Seriously? An apparent common, known problem and all they can say is we understand your problem. Needless to say that will definitely be the last lonely repairman Maytag that this household will purchase.

I hoped the Maytag Maxima would compare to my old Maytag Neptune and it didnt even come close. Very disappointed. Doesnt fill with enough water to even WET the towels and doesnt rinse any of the soap out of the clothes. Been using it since 12/2015. Hate the Maxima. I looked for the brand (Maytag Neptune) which I couldnt find. Settled on the Maytag Maxima which is a complete bust. The Maxima doesnt fill with enough water so Ive had to add water to both the wash and rinse cycles. It has also become very noisy. The repairman has already stated that there is nothing he can do about the lack of water since the amount of water is set in the factory and cannot be changed. The Maytag Maxima is a complete bust for me! Its a front-loader that has me adding water (at least 2 gallons) to every load no matter how small. Wish Id bought a GE top-loader that Ive seen advertised.

My disappointment with this washer (Bravos xl) is that it smells moldy and musty no matter what I do. I clean with affresh when light comes on, leave the top open, etc. I have tried cleaning it with baking soda and vinegar poured down the detergent opening. Water does not drain from the bleach or softener openings. I have resorted to using baking soda in every single wash and adding an extra rinse to keep my clothes from smelling. The laundry room always smells. I would go back to an agitator in a heart beat if this hadnt been so expensive. DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE.

Bought the set at Home Depot. The gear box went out after 2 1/2 months of use. I called the manufacturer warranty site and spent close to an hour on the phone then was given an appointment to have a service repair person look at it. Two days before the scheduled service call they called and said they would have to move the appointment out by a week. After diagnosing the problem, oil all over the floor and stained clothes from the oil, was told it could be up to 2 weeks until the part arrived and installed. So my warranty is being used up while the machine is out of service for a month. Beware of buying a Maytag!!!

I bought my Maytag Model LA608 washer in 1976. It has very few electronics and a mechanical timer. It has been used every week since then for 2 or 3 people. It has had 3 problems in its lifetime. I replaced the 2 valves that control the hot and cold water entering the machine. I replaced a small plastic sprayer part. And last year I replaced 3 clamps that rusted and started to leak. Thats it in 40 years. I was able to open up the front and back covers to get at the parts quite easily. It is a simple machine with almost no electronics to stop working. Nothing bothers me about the machine. Its simple and wonderful. When it finally breaks, I will try and find a good sized machine that washes permanent press and regular clothes, has a controller to select hot/cold/warm water temperatures, has a regular and gentle cycle, and has 3 load levels for the water to be used. I will try to find one that is good quality with few electronic parts. I will not buy a high efficiency model that uses less water as I am on a well and water shortage is not a problem where I live. I will not buy a front loading model.I would not buy a machine that has options that I do not need. I would hope to find a quality machine similar to what I have now. I would read as many ratings about the various models before making a selection and then I would cross my fingers and hope for the best. If it is possible, try and find a good quality machine that will be dependable over time. Buy a basic machine with only the options that you really need. There will be fewer parts to stop working.

We purchased a Maytag dishwasher MBD7749AWM on 03/15/12 from Home Depot. The control panel went out on 01/24/12 under warranty. The unit was down approximately 2 weeks waiting for parts and a second service call. Just six months later (approximately 08/05/12), the control panel failed again. Thinking that a trusted American, iconic industry leader such as Maytag would stand behind their product, I called for what I thought would be a covered repair. I explained to a supervisor that their panels have not made it 1 year in service. She assured me there were no out of the ordinary problems with the panels for my model dishwasher in one breath, then stated they were out of parts and on backorder for three weeks. Now the truth comes out, further telling me that the unit is out of warranty and nothing can be done short of sending out a repairman, that I would be responsible for parts and service. After further discussion, she reluctantly agreed to send me the part for free if I arrange the installation and told me that it was very simple to install. When the part finally showed up on my doorstep with no paperwork, it was wrong. When I called and complained for waiting 3 weeks for the wrong part because there was no quality control in their parts and shipping department, all they could do was say sorry. They told me just to keep the part they sent and they would send the correct part. I begged that they ship the correct part overnight and they adamantly stated that was not an option. Maytag stipulates their process only allows ground shipping from FedEx per their contract. Knowing I had no other option, I agreed and waited for 5-day ground. The part showed up 13 days later and delivered by USPS. Apparently, I was lied to again and the left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing. Apparently, Maytag/Whirlpool have an inadequate and poorly trained quality control system in place and their manufacturing and electronic divisions are surly lacking a strong management team needed to go in and clean house. Instead, the whole mess they have contributed to continues to haunt Maytag has continued to be made to believe its okay to produce subpar products while continuing the complete demises of a once trusted American, iconic industry leader all while living on the Lorals of twenty years past.Whirlpool would do itself and this country a huge service by just letting this brand die and thrown on the heaps of scrap steel headed for China where maybe they can copy and fix what they were not capable of.

We bought a new top of the line Maytag MGD7000XW dryer about 2 years ago. It worked great for about 6 months, thing started acting funny. All of the front console lights stay on all of the time and it ONLY dries on high heat now. This all happened after the warranty period. So fine, I was going to buy a new complete front console (CONSOLE Part Number: W10388467 $300.) as the online repairman suggested. Guess what, Maytag no longer offers the part to fix my dryer. I purchased the Maytag Bravos top load washer and the matching dryer at Home Depot back in 2009 after giving my son my very old Maytag washer and dryer that was running just fine. I liked the top load energy efficiency idea of the new Bravos and the large capacity of both the washer and dryer. Also, the Maytag name sold me, gave me confidence I was purchasing a quality product... WRONG. When it was delivered, there was damage to the dryer door, so a new one was ordered and mailed directly to me. Once it came in, I called to have someone come put it on. First issue, not a really big deal but disappointing.About one month into using the dryer, the top of it became so hot it could literally burn your hand. There was also an error message. I had purchased a one-year warranty, even though technically there is a manufacturers warranty on the product. A part had to be replaced in the panel. This happened twice. We then moved out of state for one year and the washer and dryer stayed in storage unused during that time.Fast forward to 2014 and the washer will not complete any cycle except the spin cycle. I keep getting an error message of OL which means overload. The machine is NOT overloaded. It literally takes me hours to get through one cycle of washing clothes. And they dont even come out clean. I called Maytag repair and they offered me a one-year warranty for $363.75 since the washer is having issues. They explained to me if its the control panel the cost alone for that is $383.00 not including labor. Also, the dryer take forever to dry. I have to run each load through a cycle twice to dry everything. So much for the energy efficiency of these machines. At this point, I am considering just buying another washer, something cheaper without all the fancy bells and whistles. I am terribly disappointed in Maytag.

They had 4 days to see that the provider had a motherboard before the serviceman wasted a trip. Ive spent $102 on dry ice and now Im going to lose the food anyhow. We purchased the Maytag double oven 30 inch 5 burner, stainless steel, model MGT8885XS. Oven worked good for six weeks. The igniter broke in the bottom oven and when the third party non-Maytag repairman came out to fix it, he was unable to remove the bottom oven door. It is not flush and heat escapes when the bottom oven is on and it causes the top oven to get condensation. The repair man was directed from a technician from Whirlpool that he had to order a new seal and hinges. I dont want it fixed. I want a new one. I have called Customer Service for Whirlpool and the third party and the store in which I bought it from and everyone is pushing it off onto someone else. Customer service is poor and stated they will only fix the oven and will not send us a new oven. We sent our rebate in the mail which was to arrive within 8 weeks and we have yet to receive it. My 20 yr old Kenmore washer broke last month so I replaced it with a Maytag
My 20 yr old Kenmore washer broke last month so I replaced it with a Maytag I bought from Lowes. I wanted a simple washer that would maybe last 10 years. The Maytag has a sensor for everything. So you can’t fill the washer, it determines how much water to use and it never fills enough to cover the clothes. It doesn’t agitate really. It’s more like a slow on & off movement. It does everything in an on & off way. The water fill goes on & off, it “washes” on & off. Even the spin is a spin, slow to almost stop - spin again - almost stop - spin again. It also stops filling if you open the lid, I tried to let some water fill before adding clothes (so the liquid detergent could dilute a bit) but every time I opened the top there was no water in the drum, I heated the water running and the drum was wet but it wouldn’t gill at all. I think it only puts water enough to “sense” the clothes have been soaked. I will call Lowes and try to return it.

My Maytag (MDBH955AWB) dishwasher (not even 6 years old) is losing its prongs that help the dishes to stand up. They are corroded at the bottom and snap right off, leaving the dishes without support and banging into each other. We are only a family of 3 so it gets moderate to minimal use. I almost didnt write this review because it is just a repetitive representation of this machine. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED with this machine! I had a Neptune and after a few years, it started to spew oil onto the laundry WHILE it was washing! It ruined so much clothing before I figured out what was happening. Came to find out, it was a glitch with the machine that the company SUPPOSEDLY, sent out notices about but I never received. Now the Bravos X... Bought to replace the Neptune, as it was advertised to replace Front loaders. Would accommodate a KING SIZE COMFORTER with no problem... Got out of one problem to get into another!!!From the beginning, I wondered how does this machine get the clothes clean? How would it was a king size comforter? It doesnt agitate like the other top loaders. I figured it was a new top of the line kind of technology. My clothes started to tangle up really bad even though I was not filling the machine over excessively. The clothes were staying dripping wet over and over again. It doesnt matter how much clothing is being washed, they stay super wet. I have to go through the Drain & Spin cycle to finish the cycle. IT GETS OLD!!!! I HATE THIS MACHINE!!!! Doing laundry is a HORRIFIC CHORE for me. This machine is TERRIBLE. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I CANNOT WASH ANY SIZE COMFORTER!!!After reading all these reviews, seeing how Im NOT the only one who is going through all these problems with this machine, I refuse to call any repair company! I wont spend another penny on this monster!!!! I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER MAYTAG ANYTHING AGAIN!!! Reason for this review... So anyone who is considering buying a Bravos X washer, think again. Hopefully you are doing your homework and will not make the same mistake we did!!!! Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

I purchased this washer in January 2017 at our local Home Depot here in Mexico. It was a washer/dryer combo. Now, in July, a mere 6 months and only a few wash loads later, it has gone from the worst machine I have ever owned to what I consider to be garbage material. First of all, it boasts about not using much water. This is true... Only 1/4 of your load is in the 3 inches of water at the bottom of the machine and the top 3/4 never even gets wet. I couldnt believe it. Now, I put 2 sheets in this morning and it fills almost to the point of spilling out, though I have to give it credit for shutting off the water before it actually did so. This is a NEW washing machine!!! I, along with a lot of other folks from what I am now discovering, are all in the same boat. I remember Maytag being a mark of excellence way back in the day... This is no longer the case. Stay away from this company... I know I will.

I do not recommend this product. I purchased them 2 years ago. Within one month, the drum stopped working on the dryer. This was covered under warranty. In the last month, though, I have noticed that there are blue stains on the new drum. I do not leave clothes in the dryer wet. Last week, the washer stopped agitating or cleaning clothes even though the cycle would still run. I called for a service call and paid $82 for this. I found out the transmission was not working. This is not covered under the warranty. The warranty for entire machine is only 1 year. The 2-10 year warranty only covers the drive motor and wash basket. I cannot understand why a transmission is not covered. I feel like they are not standing behind their product. Finally, after a lot of talking, I did get Maytag to agree to cover the cost of the transmission part; but I am still obligated to pay $150 for labor. Why are products not standing up to use as in the past? I am very disappointed with these products.

Do not buy a Maytag dishwasher with model # MDBH969AWB1. I bought this dishwasher last Dec. 2010. I could not use it for 2 weeks, because the door would not shut. The repair man came & fixed the door. Then when I actually got to use it and after it finished running the cycle, the tub was dripping with water all over--top, sides, door, bottom. I had to dry the dishes on the top rack, and I had to leave the door open for days in order for the inside to eventually get dry. The first thing I noticed about this dishwasher when it was installed was that it was smaller than my other dishwasher. I hate the design because of the way they have made the racks plus because it is smaller--it holds less dishes than my old one did. I could actually get almost twice as many dishes in my old one than I can with this one. Do they not think of asking the consumer about what they want in a dishwasher instead of going ahead and making something that is not functional?I am so frustrated with this thing; it has brought me to tears. I just today went to Sears and looked at their Kenmore dishwasher. It is designed more like my old one than any of the other makes out today. I wish I had checked this out, before I bought this Maytag. Weve always heard how Maytag is at the top of the line with no problems, right? Dont believe it. I will never buy another one. Whoever is designing these dishwashers need to go back to 1990 and take a look at how it was designed and then go back to making them like that. I loved my older dishwasher, and I wish I had never let them take it away. I wish I had taken the money I spent on this ridiculous Maytag and had my old one fixed no matter what the cost. I made a terrible mistake. If you have an older dishwasher and it has given you good service for years, I suggest you have it fixed and keep it, because you will not like the performance of what they are selling today. It does not matter what brand you buy, they are all designed the same. Just take a look and compare them. But if you buy, please check out the Kenmore. I dont know if the performance is better, but the racks are better designed. My old dishwasher was a Hotpoint. It was the cheapest one on the market, and it gave me the most wonderful service ever. The dishes were always very clean, the heating element was fantastic, and it always dried the dishes completely. I cant believe they would make a product like they do today and sell them for what they do. The heating element in them today is not as good or strong as what they used to make. That is why the dishes wont dry properly. You get way less than what you pay for. Thinking a new dishwasher is the way to go, think again. Please, if at all possible, keep your old one and have it fixed over & over again. I hate this dishwasher. What a joke on the unsuspecting buyer.

The whole Control Panel lights are turned off for several minutes. Then they return on. Frequency? Few times per day. Reason? We dont know. No water or ice are dispensed when this happens. No water pipe is kinked, water pressure is OK, no problem with cooling system and nothing happens with food inside refrigerator or freezer. There are no mention made in trouble-shooting section of customer manual. What should we do? In spite of this, we are satisfied with the product so far, after 3 years of use.

Maytag Bravos XL top load. I purchased 2014. Three years old drum bearings went out, just two people in home. Very expensive to repair. Three years later I hear bearing going out again, in mean time had a F51 pop up and that means major failure call for service. I called Speed Queen and ordered a machine with all metal parts delivered the next day, and it is Made in America. I had purchased Maytag because of name but I will never purchase another Maytag. I purchased a Bravo 300 MVWB400VQ in 2009. I knew in 6 months that I had made a huge mistake. The clothes began coming out soaking wet - the dark clothes have lint, pet hair, and rings on them. The large capacity drum is just that... a big drum. If I wash bedding in it, it becomes off balance and sounds like its fallen over. I have used only HE detergents, and I wash the washer (yes, wash the washer, does that tell you anything?) before the light comes on. Now the machine sounds like its full of loose parts or rocks in it when it begins to fill up. Its even worse when the water starts to pump out. Now that Ive read all the other complaints, I realize that Im doomed. All of these trusting people have been cheated out of nearly a thousand dollars for a piece of junk. What good is Consumer Affairs if there is nothing done when there are so many complaints? I will join any lawsuit against Maytag if ever there is one. This is another lemon that promised everything and delivered nothing.

If you are looking for the Maytag repairman he will be at my house Tues fixing my barely 1 yrs old dishwasher. This is ridiculous to pay this amount of money for the reputation that Maytag is known for or I will say was known for. $270.00 for a control panel. My last Maytag lasted over 30 yrs. Not made in the US - not built to last and this was told to me by the people that installed it so take it for what its worth. Look elsewhere. My last Maytag product.

RE: 5.2 CU Ft Top Load Washer, Model # MVWB865GW0, Serial # C84370937 - Purchased Jan 2019. Ive tried every cycle, including the deep fill and low spin speed but items are so wrinkled that whether I lay flat or hang or put them in the dryer, I have to iron them, which I never did before.

He checked it out and said its not serviceable because theres a leak somewhere in the casing. Had to call KYW 3, On Your Side, they helped me get some progress. Jacqueline from corporate called and said they would replace it. It started on July 3 and now August 13 and still no fridge. Had my Maytag washer fixed, small problem. Parts came in a box marked Whirlpool for a Maytag washer from a Sears Warehouse. Plus the mechanic said my Maytag refrigerator is made by Amana. Buy American?

I thought I was nuts - only 2 of water in a full machine of bedding or clothes. I agree with all the other one star remarks - clothes still dirty, still dry, hardly any water and if you use the bedding selection, it takes nearly 2 hours to wash a load and then it doesnt spin dry so you have to rinse and spin again. We bought the Bravo washer and dryer in 10/2009. Since then the dryer has never worked well. Weve had at least 8 service calls on same and the sensor doesnt work, i.e. says the clothes are dry when they arent and we always have to run them through at least two-timed cycles to make them completely dry. The washer is another nightmare. At least 8 service calls as well, and after one where the motor was replaced, it popped off and flooded my entire house. They laundry room is located on the second floor. I had to replace floors, walls, ceiling, light fixtures, etc. Insurance covered it but it never shouldve happened. Now the washer doesnt drain properly and the error code LD displays every load and we must manually drain it by either setting an extra drain cycle or take the entire machine apart and vacuum out the water. Each load takes twice the amount of time it should, if not more. But I guess its okay because the dryer takes just as long to dry a load of clothes. Something has to be done. Maytag is refusing to stand behind their products and it seems as though many of the complaints are for the same issues. Is there a lemon law for household appliances?

I grew up trusting and believing in the name brand Maytag. Unfortunately, I wont anymore. I purchased a Maytag MDB7749AWM1 dishwasher from Lowes thinking that I would not need the extended warranty because well it was a Maytag and they just keep working and working for years to come. Not true anymore. 1.5 years after the purchase the control board has gone out. I come to find that hundreds upon hundreds of people have all experienced the same thing. Shortly after the manufacturer warranty expires, the panel dies. By all accounts it is an issue of POOR engineering and Maytag now being produced by Whirlpool. The replacement part is between $150 and $200. Thats about half the purchase price. It is a racket. Companies like this probably think, well if we build something that is going to last and last we cant make money on that. So lets rig it so our stuff breaks right after the warranty and charge half the price of the unit to fix it so we continue to make money either by people buying the part or just going and getting a new dishwasher. Well I can tell you I will be getting a new dishwasher and it certainly wont be a Maytag OR a Whirlpool.

I purchased a Maytag Washer Bravos Quiet series 300 & a Dryer Bravos Quiet series 400 w/ steam in June 2009 from Lowes. I cant express my dissatisfaction in strong enough language with these products. From the time they were installed there were problems. The Bravos series 300 washer: Quiet? Never. The thing sounds like a huge motor whirring around my laundry room. Several times, a coin got stuck in the motor and created a clanking sound that had to be fixed. Ive never had a washer that allowed coins to enter the motor. I cant close the lid on the washer until the whole unit is dry because of the mold problem. I dont feel the washer really gets clothes clean. When we purchased the unit, the Lowes salesman stressed that we could fit a large bedspread into the oversized tub and get it clean. This didnt turn out to be true. The clothes tangle terribly and the unit is off-balance with any kind of a larger load. Ive been forced to purchase the extended warranty because of the complete & total lack of confidence I have in this awful washer (same goes with the dryer). The Bravos series 400 Dryer: This unit never dries. All the setting that should be used with the sensor never work which causes a huge problem. I start out on a particular setting with a stated time limit say, for instance 45 minutes. 45 minutes later, I look at the dryer and theres 1 hr of time still left to go! The dryer just runs on and on. Ive taken to using only the timed dry and I start out at 1 hr, then check it every 10 minutes or so. This is very hard on the fabrics and has caused the useful life of my clothes to be greatly diminished. Also, the stupid thing will start to beep and I cant figure out why. Using this dryer has increased the electricity costs to us.I cant stress enough to STAY away from these products. I purchased Maytag because of their prior good reputation. That reputation is in tatters now. They should recall this product and replace it with products that actually do what they advertise!

I am fairly happy with this ranges performance. I do have a couple of issues on the design. I would like to be able to simmer at a lower temp on a front burner, as I use a large stock pot and a pressure canner occasionally. The smaller BTU burners are on the back and the large pots do not fit over them. I havent noticed any problems with the upper ovens performance...seems to do what I ask it to, including the broiler. I have not tried the lower oven or the convection feature at all yet. Nor have I had to use the self-cleaning feature, yet...almost afraid to after reading other peoples nightmares, though. My biggest concern is the lack of safety with the knobs on the front of the stove top. Several times, the gas has been turned on by my cat simply walking across the front of the stove and stepping on a knob. This allows gas to leak until I notice. It happened again early this morning just before 4:00 am. I was awakened by a smell, which I thought was a dead mouse somewhere (we live in the country in a 100 year old house - mice do get in, thus the cats). I searched the whole house, looking for a dead mouse, until I finally walked into the kitchen and heard the hissing from the stove. Im glad I didnt try to light a candle while I was still thinking dead mouse! After turning off the gas and removing all of the knobs, I opened all the windows to let the house air out. I SHOULD NOT have to remove the knobs every time my stove is not being used! You do have to depress the knobs slightly to ignite the burners, but its too easy. Obviously, the simple act of a little cat putting its paw on the knob is enough to open the gas. This is a serious flaw that could kill someone! Something needs to be done to correct this before someone is killed or a house full of propane or natural gas is ignited and explodes!!! I will be reporting this to Maytag and hope that they will voluntarily issue a recall to have this problem fixed...Wish me luck.

Maytag Dishwasher model MDBH989AWB3. The dishwasher was purchased at Home Depot March 19, 2010 in Hollywood, FL; delivered to our new home April 16, 2010 in Brunswick, ME. My complaint is the exact same complaint as the previous 28 complaints! I think the reason our unit worked for 6 yrs is because it was in use only 6 months a year. My experience: you make your selection, two lights come on, you press start, but nothing happens. You think this is a simple repair. You read the manual and try their troubleshooting advice, but to no avail. When you contact the company, they tell you that this is going to be an expensive repair, probably over $500. You contact Home Depot who want nothing to do with you or your dead dishwasher. Their advice: contact the Maytag company. You contact local appliance repairmen and they will repair it at a cost of over $500. You offer the unit to the repairman for free; he declines. He suggests you check the online Consumer Affairs site. It is on that site that you realize the dead dishwasher belongs where one brings other dead things: the dump. I will NEVER buy another Maytag product. I would suggest no one else does either, unless you want to practice your skills in dealing with frustration or you want to throw $693.40 to the wind and watch it flit away helplessly. Maytag WFW7590FW & YWED75HEFW 24 Compact Washer and Dryer: These 2 machines are a lemon and the extended warranty plan was completely disappointed. Both needs maintenance before the 1 year warranty ends. The washer was the worst between the pair. The washer cannot spin the laundry dry. The Home Depot extended warranty plan was not the cost. It takes 2 business day for the service call to call us back. Then a schedule date was 2 days later. The service person complained about not getting authorization to do the work without charging us. He did even showed up for the 3rd call. He did nothing to resolve the issue and said the diagnostics showed there was a load issue, which was not true. A very light load still didnt spin dry. The washer not spinning clothing dry issue has been more than 1 month and is still not resolved. The repair person Dean didnt even re-schedule another date after not showing up today. There is a 90 day policy that we cant request for another repair person to attend to the issue. The dryer also made excessive noise which was caused by a broken attachment that established the drum.

There is no way to access the drainage tube. I thought that the coils needed to be cleaned. That was not successful either since the coils run horizontal and only the front section can be vacuumed. I had the old style machine and finally it gave out and I bought an LG HE Large capacity. It was a well I can print it here but kept the machine for 5 years and gave it away. I bought a new Bravo Maytag set 5.2 with the old style agitator thinking I was going to get a great machine and NO. These new machines do not use enough water in the load sensing and clothes on top never get in the water. They come out with soap stains even with a double rinse. And no I am not using too much soap! My old machine had small medium and large load settings plus you could add more water if needed. Way better machine. The techs are trained to tell you this is how the machines work and there is nothing wrong with them. Finally an honest tech told me they are having all sorts of complaints and problems. If all you wash is bedding and dress clothes you get by but if you really have soiled clothes you have to do a lot of prep and then stop in the middle of the wash cycle and rotate your clothes manually! Total BS for 8-900 dollar machines. Do yourself a favor and buy a front load. At least the clothes will get flopped in and out of the water and hopefully rotate so they actually get clean. That is what I am going to try before I go back to the old scrub board and tub!

Prior to purchase, I did my due diligence and read reviews about this washing machine. Apparently, they were written by Maytag employees, because this washing machine has been a major disappointment. Yes, it tangles clothes and sheets, but I feel that is to be expected since it is HE and uses less water. I will give it that and I dont have to dry nearly as long. But that is where my positivity ends. Clothes dont always come out totally clean. And then there is the issue with the horrific grinding noise. The machine has been making a progressively louder, angry, grinding noise with a high-pitch end note. And as of today, a horn type noise has started. Lovely.I anticipate the machine is on its last legs and I have only had it a few years. I spent too much money on this and feel like I have been misguided and, quite honestly, ripped off by Maytag.
