Purchased this washing machine 4 years ago and every time I do towels, blankets, linens etc. all ends up in the middle of the washer in an unbalanced situation. Cannot clear the balance even when rearranged. I assume this is what happens with all the upright washers now that the center agitation unit has been removed. I have to ask the question of who made this decision to remove the center part? A man who never does laundry?

Omg I am so shocked at all the complaints about these refrigerators.. I too bought refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher from Lowes after a storm just about destroyed our home. I was so excited to have such a beautiful refrigerator and new kitchen...but shortly after it started freezing on the bottom of freezer and leaking all over. My new floors and kitchen cabinet are ruined. Every other day we have to break up ice and clean it out from freezer.. it still then leaks.. several family members have slipped and hurt themselves. Please if anyone knows how to get it fixed without it costing us a fortune let us know. Maytag (Whirlpool) knows it is a defect... Why will they not fix it? I cant afford a new refrigerator and shouldnt have to after only two years.. If a class action comes up.. please contact me. Shame on them...

OK, Im at wits end. I bought a very expensive Maytag Gemini range four years ago. Since then, I have replaced 10 burner valves. There are only five of them. They have each been replaced twice, and tonight yet another has broken. This time it is broken in the ON position, which means I cant have the range on without that burner on. It means unplugging it when not in use and lighting the burner with a match when I re-plug the stove, until I get it fixed. I had just replaced valve number 10 on Tuesday, and had a fully working range for only 5 days. These valves are under warranty but the labor is not, and it is always close to $200 to have someone come out to replace them. I cant afford a new stove and I cant afford to keep having these defective valves replace.

Purchased 4 Maytag kitchen appliances - stove, double oven, fridge, dishwasher - was told that they were all made in the USA. WRONG. The microwave comes from China - not sure why Maytag is not being honest. Not happy with my purchases - even though we spent $4000 to buy American. Warranty service is awful - even extended warranty is a joke. Would never purchase Maytag again.

If there was a zero star rating available, that is what I would select! We purchased this range along with a complete kitchen ensemble for a remodel of our kitchen in December of 2011. Within a few months of purchase the enamel finish started blistering, flaking and peeling. Upon contacting Whirlpool Corp about the problem through their online chatline, email, regular mail and phone, we were informed (quite rudely I might add) that Whirlpool does not warranty cosmetic deficiencies over 30 days after product purchase. This is American Quality?? Since this has occurred the retirement home we are building will have no Whirlpool Corp products in it which includes: Maytag, Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Amana, Jenn-Air, Brastemp, Consul, Bauknecht, Gladiator, or any of the product lineup from the Chinese company Hefei Sanyo which they are buying. The attached photos were taken in May of 2012 and since that time the product finish has only exponentially deteriorated.

When my husband surprised me with a double oven stove I was leery. First Thanksgiving my thoughts were concurred as the 20lb turkey fell from the chinsey rack.....even a cookie tray with almonds fell down.... Unfortunately the lower oven is off by 1/2, no racks work in there. My biggest gripe is that the seller did not exchange it, just tried more racks. Now Maytag will not do anything but allow me to order more racks. This item is a huge piece of junk.

We had a wonderful Bisque Maytag double oven in 2002. We bought new stainless appliances this year, and have been very disappointed with the range. Why do you have to hold the temp and timer settings one increment at a time to set it, and why do you have to push Start after that? Frequently we set the temp or timer and walk away, only to find that the oven or timer did not begin because we forgot the new step. When the timer goes off, you have to push it twice to get it to reset. The burners themselves have too many confusing pictures for the settings. What happened to low heat, medium and high and hash marks in between? The stove top itself is a nightmare to keep clean. Give me back my coil stove any day!!!

Purchased a Maytag Electric Range on Jan/9/2016 and delivered Jan 12/2016. To start the Aqua Steam clean is for the birds. Does not clean worth a darn. Model MER8600DH cost $823.33 and I thought this unit was awesome until December 2018. The oven makes loud bangs and it’s not metal contracting or whatever. I stopped using my oven. Tonight my top burner started snapping like an arc or short. Yup that’s it for me. I was thinking of buying a Maytag Gas Range as I was brought up on gas and I have a plumber coming this weekend to plumb for Natural Gas but after reading all the negativity on the gas ranges as well I absolutely will not be buying a Maytag now or ever! I expected more from Maytag. :(

Please Do NOT purchase the Maytag Aqua Lift Gas Range. It does not clean anything, you will pay more money for a cleaning oven that does not clean any grease or droppings if you cook. This is not an Oven for any one, or family that cooks large meals or has gatherings. I had the technicians at my house over 4 times and they confirmed that this oven is not a self cleaning oven. It doesnt get hot enough as your self cleaning ovens. And MAYTAG did not want to hear anything, basically not clean much, but advertised as a self cleaning oven. Having been a Maytag customer for years I will never buy a Maytag product again. And we need to support American made, but not when the consumer is misled.

I purchased a Maytag gas range after remodeling my kitchen. I thought I was getting a good product, boy was I wrong. The ceramic gas grates are so slippery that pots tend to slide off but the real problem is that the racks inside the oven fall when you place pots on them. I tried cooking a Thanksgiving turkey in it and the racks fell to the bottom of the oven. It appears that the top rack and the bottom rack are the only two that stay in place. And it also appears that when the oven is on, the sides of the oven expand so that the racks fall. I have tried to contact Sears as thats where it was purchased to no avail. I will now attempt to contact Maytag directly but it appears that I will also not get anywhere there. I have read at least one other complaint of this exact same type happening to someone else. This is very dangerous. Do they really want a lawsuit?

I have the model with a smaller oven on top. I use it about 98% of the time so Im not wasting energy having to heat a larger oven space. I also like the fact that I can clean one oven. The larger oven is used when I cook turkeys. I can cook many dishes at a time, by using the smaller oven for dressing or cakes.

We purchased a Maytag double oven in November 18, 2008. I was baking and the top oven wasnt working. We called Maytag service number on the book we received when we purchased the oven. It took 25 minutes for someone to answer our call. The person did not know what our problem was. We thought it could be the ignitor. He transferred us to a parts person. That person didnt know the answer and hung up on my husband. How rude of him. We will never purchase another Maytag product. We will let our family and friends also know. You need to inform your personnel to know their products.

My Maytag Bravos washer is 3 years and 7 months old. While not in use the lid lock motor shorted and caused the control board to fail. No lights on the control panel. Without an extended warranty I called a repairman and the above diagnoses was the result. The estimated cost of repair was $600.00 plus, this includes the lid lock switch and the control board. Might as well buy a new washer instead of paying that much. I called Maytag and complained. The first person I talked to offered me a one year warranty plus the repair of my machine for $345.55 which was less than the repair estimate, sounded good. They set me up with an appliance repair in the area and I said ok. Next I checked the appliance repair on the BBB site and didnt like what I saw, so I called Maytag and told them to cancel the appointment and they suggested I try another appliance repair. I was told I had to talk the warranty company to arrange for a new repair facility. I talked to the warranty company and they agreed to change repairers and I choose the one that gave me the diagnoses. While we talked I told them that the repairman I choose was here and gave me the diagnoses that I was complaining about. The warranty company said they could not warrant a washer that had been looked at and diagnosed. They canceled my warranty and said they would refund my money. The only thing left to do is buy a new washer. Not a Maytag this time. For those of you who are in the market for a new washer and dryer (had trouble here also) I would advise you to read the complaints and I believe the majority of them. Not too long ago there were full page ad in our Sunday paper touting the merits of owning a Maytag product. One thing you cant do is advertise quality when it is not in the product.

All in all I have liked my electric range, but I have 2 issues that I am having trouble resolving. I bought the range in 2003 and to find the model number I have to pull the range out from the cupboards on each side which would be extremely difficult under the circumstances. The reason I want to get the model number is so that I might find replacement parts for the doors edging that has flaked and rusted and is quite unattractive.

I purchased a whole stainless steel kitchen from Lowes and purchased all Maytag products because of the so called quality of Maytag. First we had to return the microwave because it was dented badly. We then notified Lowes that the door on the refrigerator cold cut drawer falls off when opening the drawer. Service man said he would send a new door. Same problem. You can clearly see that the drawer and the refrigerator frame is deformed. Maytag says that the warranty does not cover cosmetics. The range has a aqua lift self-cleaning technology that simply sucks. The oven does not clean! I recommend that no one ever buy Maytag products. They are the worst! I should not have listened to the salesman and bought what I originally wanted - SAMSUNG!!!

I purchased 4 new Maytag appliances as part of a kitchen update. The dishwasher was the first to fail, less than a year after being installed. The control panel stopped working (random lights would come on, always different from the one being pressed, and frequently incompatible selections such as Rinse Only and Sanitize. PC Richards sent a repairman with a new part, no charge. A few weeks ago, it happened again. PC Richards says that replacement parts are only under warranty for 90 days, so now the repair is on me. I could pay or repair it myself or pay PC Richards to do it. Thank goodness I am handy, but I still have to pay for the part. Now I am reading that the MDB7749 series has a history of this problem. When is Maytag going to own up and issue free repairs? I certainly will never buy Maytag again, as both the range and the refrigerator also have common problems. Luckily, I paid for the 10-year service agreement on those appliances.

This oven has been used so very seldom that I didnt feel I could rate it until now. We use the oven 1-2 times a week since purchasing it in March of 2018. There hadnt been any reason to use the Self Cleaning part of the oven until last week. I have had a oven with self-cleaning for 20 years and the oven went out so we purchased this one because of its sleek look and features. However last week I decided to use the self-cleaning setting on it and came home after being gone all day to find that the house smelled like it had a fire burning in it. I ran to the oven to find the whole inside cover in a white powdery substance. It looked like a snow blizzard had gone on inside of it. I was use to a small amount of white residue being inside the oven after it finished and it just wiped right up. We spent hours vacuuming it out then scrubbing it down with vinegar water and a sponge with a scouring pad on it. The casserole spill was still on the bottom, most of the enamel is gone and the glass will not clean off. I did not use any chemicals in the oven prior to turning it to the self-clean mode, I believe that it overheated and burnt the enamel off and distorted the glass. Whirlpool offered to send me a cleaning kit. I told them that would do no good. I had already scrubbed and used a razor blade to try and clean the bottom and the glass and them sending me different cleaning supplies would not fix the fact that 80% of the inside protective coating on the oven is gone. Now it is a porous surface. A Serviceman was scheduled and he called prior to arrival today and asked me to explain what was going on with my oven. I explained and he said I can almost guarantee that Whirlpool will say that it is cosmetic and they only cover cosmetic for 3 months and that I will have to pay for a $100.00 service call. This is a load of crap. This coating is part of the oven to keep it clean and protect the metal from the high heat of baking in it. This is not cosmetic feature like the outside stainless steel finish or the black trim decor. The inside doesnt look pretty. It is a function. See the photos below. Whirlpool Range Item # 805150. Model # WEE510S0FS.

I remodeled my kitchen, put in all new Maytag Almond appliances washer, dryer, stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave oven. I was pleased with everything but the stove. The stove was $800.00. The oven caught fire three times and smoked up my house. I replaced the stove with another brand, cheaper and safer. I moved to a new house, five years later, bought all Maytag appliances stainless steel. The hinge on the deli tray broke, the inside is thin plastic, not covered in extended warranty. The stove caught fire (I didnt learn the first time around)! The microwave has a thin, bendable, plastic rack, the handle snapped right off. I cant buy a handle separate from the door. Now the microwave wont heat! My dishwasher was recalled. The heating element could have caused a fire! Nothing that breaks or malfunctions is covered by warranty. Who needs to pay for a warranty too and get no parts or service rendered! I will buy all new appliances and when I do, it wont be anything Maytag makes and none of their other brands! This stuff is very expensive garbage! Somebody please initiate a class action suit!

MER8700DH - Within 6 months, left rear burner stopped working and Maytag repaired it under warranty. Within next 6 months, and just before end of warranty, right front burner stopped working and again Maytag covered it under warranty. Within the second year of ownership, the oven was not working correctly and Maytag refused to cover it because it was off warranty. So I called a local appliance repair company who gave me an estimate of over $300 to repair it and basically advised against repair stating that this stove was a piece of junk. So I replaced it with a GE and junked the old one before it was even two years old. I filed a complaint with Maytag. At first they said they would go half on the labor, but then they said I should have bought the extended warranty and refused all further help.

We had the same problem that everyone is complaining about re: frozen water in bottom of freezer dripping out onto floor. Swore when I got rid of the Maytag smooth top stove that broke after 5 years that I would never get another Maytag but broke down and bought this fridge. Maytag rep made it clear that the Fridge had a NOTE on file about the drain, but it was NOT a product recall. So after virtually taking the freezer apart before the repairman came, we ended up paying $120.00 for the repair, not the part. Yippee. Please note that the repairman told us we saved a lot of money by taking apart the freezer so most repairs probably cost a lot more than ours.

We purchased our range in May of 2012. It is now November 2014 and the stove has had three brains, three ignitors in the oven and one ignitor in the back of the stove. When I set it to bake at 350 degrees, the oven heats up and I put the food in the oven. When I go to check the food, I find the oven stone cold and the brain is still displaying 350 degrees. According to Home Depot Warranty department, if the oven has been fixed three times for the same problem, then the unit is considered a LEMON. Ok, what about the three brains? What about the three ignitors? The ignitor in the back of the stove controls the oven as well. SEVEN times for a technician to come out and fix my LEMON stove is ridiculous. California has lemon laws. I will file suit against Home Depot, Whirlpool, A&E and Quality Appliance if this stove is not replaced within the next seven days. IT IS A LEMON! I have lost way too much food in this oven because I dont know when it shuts off.

Our home has seven Maytag appliances: an upstairs kitchen, downstairs suite and laundry room. All were brand new six years ago and what we thought to be good quality by the price we paid for them. We have lived to regret ever dropping a cent into Maytags business account, as we have had nothing but trouble with them. We dont have small kids or teenagers abusing them. Its just us and a very responsible single adult downstairs. And every time we turn around, one of them is costing us nothing but money and grief. Our first problems began with our upstairs fridge when it was only two years old. At that time, it cost us $400 and since then, it just goes on and on. Last week, our downstairs fridge quit, and today, our upstairs one quit. We have had work done on our range, as well as our washing machine and dishwasher. If you are thinking of buying a Maytag appliance, dont, unless you like to throw away your money. I couldnt believe when I looked up Consumer Reviews on Maytag appliances tonight that I would find only 1 out of 5 stars, and read all the terrible reviews written by angry consumers. Well, add me to the list because I will never buy another appliance from Maytag again, and am beginning to think its time to sell this house to get rid of these stupid, useless, pieces of ** Maytag appliances! Sorry, people, but I cant afford to keep replacing them!

We purchased a wall oven model MEW7530DE 11/8/2014 which was installed the first part of December 2014. From the beginning the temp was not constant and everything baked was either burned or under baked. The first repairman said the control panel was faulty and was replaced four months after purchase, the problem continued. After three more repairmen all from different companies concluded they could find no problem and thats just how ovens work now. We contacted the owner of Hamiltons Appliance, where the oven was purchased, and requested a replacement oven which was accomplished December 2015.New oven, same problem, very disappointing. My wife has been baking for over 50 years and has never experienced problems and frustration on this level. The condition of the oven is totally unacceptable and with all the effort by us and others we are at a loss. We purchased an extended warranty which has resulted not fixing of the problem. We hired an electrician to inspect the wiring in case that was the problem, costing us $200. The wiring was all good. What do we do next and what are our options short of another new oven. WHAT IS MAYTAGS RESPONSIBILITY? Respectfully, a very unhappy customer.

My four year old Maytag stove blew out the lower heating element in the oven. The model number is MER8880AW. I removed seven small screws to confirm what the problem was and remove the element. That is a short life span for a stove element. My wife checked our paperwork and thought it indicate the part was covered on the 10 year warranty. Called Maytag at 9 AM and went through the press numbers thing, being put on hold, call dropped, told they were not open twice, etc. Finally got a person to talk to at 2:45 pm. Yes the part is covered under warranty, but no they will not give me the part.A repairman must plug it in and put the seven screws back in. This will cost me a lot more than the $50 the part cost me at the local appliance store. 10 year warranty. Wow, WORTHLESS! There WILL NEVER BE another Maytag or Whirlpool in my house. Making a big deal out of their warranty when they are going to soak you bad for a simple install is just plain dishonest.

Eight years ago we bought all new top-of-the-line, stainless steel refrigerator, double oven range, dishwasher and microwave. All began malfunctioning within the first year: *The refrigerator began to make a loud rattle and the digital control pad needed to be replaced -twice within the first year. Within the next year the compressor had to be replace. *Dishwasher electronic control board was replaced twice, broke again and is still broken. *Microwave door handle broke off, and turntable motor broke.*Range burner ignition system only works on two burners and the shelf for the top oven does not fit -*Maytag refused to replace. Also, after using self-cleaning feature the lower oven still fills the room with smoke so it has been used very little. So, how much worse could it be? Then after you have used the distilled water in the bottom of the oven during the cleaning cycle (steam), you climb back in to wipe out the water and use something similar to a magic eraser to SCRUB the oven. Here is the real kicker....during the cleaning process, in between the glass (in the door) you develop water spots that cannot be cleaned unless you pay to have a service technician come out and tear it a part to clean it. According to Maytag THIS IS NORMAL and is proven (by their engineers without any documentation for the customers to be able to see) to be normal?? The consequence is a brand new stove will never be clean and it is the first thing you see when you come into my house. I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!!!!

Maytag Model #MGR7662 range - We inherited this oven when we bought my mother-in-laws house 2 years ago. We had to get a thermometer to keep in the oven since the temperature is never consistent and is usually 50-100 degrees lower than the digital readout. We will be replacing this oven as soon as we can and it will NOT be a Maytag.

I bought brand new Maytag appliances top of the line. I put the stove, dishwasher and refrigerator in and was waiting for the cabinets to be done before installing the microwave, It was a couple of years; I took the microwave out of the original box and had it installed and it made a terrible noise and then shut off. There is something loose or something. I called Maytag to activate my warranty but they said the time is up but I had never opened the box so I didnt know there was a time limit on sending it in. There was no customer service! The stove I bought for close to $2000 has had to have the control panel replaced 3 times so I have to pay every year for an extended warranty just to guarantee I have a stove. Last year I went through the holidays without one because it was out then too! I would never buy another Maytag again!

Model mdb7749sbm. Unit is just over 1 year old and fails in the same way everybody else in complaining about. Here is my question, this failure mode is obviously a designed in feature providing planned obsolescence to the device. Why is this company not being held to account for the damages in this case? Are all the judges that bought that no suit can be brought?Have all of you contacted your state consumer protection organizations regarding this issue? I would also recommend that you write both your state senator, the state consumer protection organization and any media outlets you can think of. High rate of control panel failure, devices activating by themselves when people are potentially away from the house, risk of fire or flooding... these are serious things and I would think a story that some news organization would surely be interested in digging into. Now that would serve to light a little fire under the Maytag organization if something like that was to occur. This sure seems to me to be a defrauding of the consumer - selling them a product at the top end of the price range that has such a significant design flaw that in the end can only be considered not fit for purpose. I havent yet contacted Maytag and Home Depot (who I believe are fully complicit in this as well), but I will be doing so to give them a chance to make this right, which I fully expect them to decline to do. Then I will begin writing letters. Am also considering small claims court. But above all, do not just accept this and move on! Companies like this need to be held to account, and they need to be reported so that others purchasing new devices in the future know to stay away from them.

From the beginning, the blower motor (for the control panel? never needed one before) was too noisy. I just bought the oven from Lowe’s. They sent out a repairman. He replaced the motor, but has exactly the same level of noise. It is bad design/engineering. Im going to try some other brand. One problem is that you cant listen to the fan noise before you buy the oven and install it. And there are no decibel requirements or ratings. Industry regulations need improvement. We purchased our double free standing gas range about 6 years ago. Our top oven went out about 4 years after purchase. We purchased the extended warranty from Sears and it was fixed at no charge. About a year later, the top oven would not work again. We called Sears, our warranty was up so it would be a repair that we would have to pay for. We decided to go with the Maytag repair service since it is a Maytag appliance and we had to pay anyway. The repairman came in and said that the top box that holds the electronic in it had fried wires and it would have to be replaced. So for $480, he could replace it. It was more than likely caused by a power surge. I just read that this also coincidentally happened to someone else so I find this cause to ask more questions. I also note that the top of the oven behind the burners where there is some sort of vent gets extremely hot (I accidentally touched it and had a blister the next day) when the oven is being operated. This is directly under the box that holds the electronic components. I would think that may have something to do with the wires frying since it is that hot directly below the panel. Could this be a defect in the building of the stove? Has anyone else had this instance beside the one person that I read about on your website?

We purchased the Maytag MDB8959SAS0 dishwasher about 2.5 years ago. A couple of days ago, the lights on the control panel started blinking and beeping erratically. I contacted Maytag and they said the control board likely needs to be replaced to the tune of around $250, not including labor! We spent $800 on this dishwasher and it cant even last 3 years?? Ridiculous. The only other advice the service rep. had was that we should have bought the extended warranty. Gee, thanks. I guess with Maytag, you really DO need that extended warranty because their products are junk. I think I will just scrap this dishwasher and go with a Bosch. We also have a Maytag range that needed servicing after owning it for only 18 mos. And a Maytag dryer that needed servicing after a month (at least that was under warranty). I will NEVER buy a Maytag product again... they are complete junk.

148013 Stan & Pauls Dartmouth MA - 3 yrs ago we remodeled the kitchen... I went with Maytag appliances because I was always told they were good. I should have stayed with GE. Dishwasher touch pad is gone again... 2nd time in 3 yrs. Last one cost us 265.00. We are senior and thought these appliances would outlast us. We only use it about twice a week. Our freezer door tracks and door needed to be replace 6 mo after purchase. WE lost all the food that had defrosted. Our oven coil burned out already also... that was expensive to replace. Only thing that we have not had to repair (knocking on wood) is the microwave. STAY AWAY FROM MAYTAG, FOLKS!!

I have to say I am terribly disappointed in the quality of my Maytag Side by Side Fridge/freezer and my Maytag stove. Having sold Maytag commercial washers and dryers to coin laundries for over 20 years I expected better. Needless to say..... these are Whirlpool machines with Maytag name plates. Not the Maytag quality that was produced in Newton, Iowa. You can tell these are plastic machines made in Mexico. Of course you still pay for the Maytag name just not the quality. I have always tried to buy from US companies, but my next appliances will not be as Whirlpool is the only US company left with exception to very high end products.

Purchased French Door MF12269VM 22 inch from The Brick furniture April 1, 2012. Turned out to be a real April fools joke. Purchased extended warranty with TransGlobal for 5 years. First, fridge delivered after about a couple of weeks because it actually wasnt in stock. Naughty Brick lied about availability. Fridge arrives and after a service call from Maytag repair, they ascertain compressor doesnt work.Order fridge number 2. Two weeks later, get second fridge but lever for dispensing water is broken off. Order fridge number 3. Usual two-week wait and fridge finally arrives but the whole side panel is damaged. Send it back and order Fridge number 4. Service from Brick, Maytag and Whirlpool, terrible customer relations. Misrepresented delivery dates, supply issues, and operational damages.Fridge finally installed. Ice maker operates intermittently for the next year. Service techs from TransGlobal offer a variety of suggestions including changing filter, water pressure issues. Finally ice maker stops entirely in Summer of 2013. Is replaced after a month of waiting for parts of which the wrong part was sent. Ice maker continued to operate intermittently. Sometimes just a small of ice or no ice for a day. Finally in May after another service call, ice maker stopped working for about 4 days. Tech comes out and miraculously, it starts working again. A month later stops again and hasnt worked since.Contacted TransGlobal off shore call centre? And arranged to have an assessment to see if we needed a new fridge. Request declined and Maytag (Whirlpool) sent a tech out after another week. Service tech recommended new freezer. Waited a week for parts and arranged for Service tech to replace ice maker. Wrong ice maker part (for the second time) in less than a year. The latest trick from our possessed fridge is recent alarms from the temperature control. To say we are disappointed in this product, the retail experience, the quality of the manufacturing, the shipping procedures, the poor engineering and design, doesnt come close to describing the shoddiness surrounding this appliance and the service weve received. In conclusion, we are still awaiting an ice maker and are contemplating buying another fridge. What it is fair to say, we will never ever buy another appliance with their the Whirlpool or Maytag attached to it. Nor will we ever again buy anything from the Brick, or depend upon TransGlobal for repair services. Are there other Manufacturers and retailers out there who understand the meaning of service and quality. I certainly hope so. Otherwise Im going to invest in a good icebox.

I purchased my oven in May of 2012. Ive tried numerous times to use the clean cycle. There is absolutely no way it works. I contacted Maytag on 1/13/14 and their response was to explain the concept of AquaLift Technology as if I didnt already know that. They said I should use the plastic spatula (as if I had not already done that). They urged me to email whenever the need arises (as if that will do any good, they obviously acted like there was nothing wrong with their AquaLift technology). Someone should hold them accountable for their faulty product. Maytag is now a dirty word in this consumers vocabulary, and no amount of scraping ...with a plastic spatula will clean up the mess they sold me. I hope it breaks so I can go buy a product from a company where self-clean does not mean I am scrubbing (with no success) and running a clean cycle numerous times in an afternoon to try and get a spillover cleaned up.

Every appliance in my kitchen is Maytag. I went with Maytag because its made in America and now Im annoyed. The microwave died after about 5 years and since I had a spare, I have yet to repair it. I am just now removing the panel to see whats going on in the inside so I can replace whatever broken part is broken. The double oven I have Ive had to repair twice. Once I had to replace a capacitor on the board because it blew. It cost me zero to replace it as I have an old home theater system I part out. The next item was the control pad itself which I tried to repair but had to replace for $200. The dishwasher died after 6 years of use and after replacing the control pad (couldnt be repaired), it still didnt work. And I got a replacement from my wifes dad who was moving and had to get rid of his. Ultimate timing. I purchased a Maytag refrigerator instead of a Samsung like an idiot (which I suppose I am at this point). The fridge leaks water because the drain plug is jammed and it will take a lot of work to get back there to unjam it. I think Maytag wants to sell you expensive parts that are doomed to break after a couple years of normal use. They want to send repair guys out to your house to charge you to fix their junk. I cant wait to move and buy all Samsung products and do away with this Maytag relationship once and for all.

The steam/heat produced by the oven has made the electronic (digital) control panel buckle. Yes! This is a thousand-dollar (plus) stove, and it has warped, through no fault of mine. When I want to cook something, I press the keypad to enter the number of cooking degrees that I want. The problem is, the control board is not working correctly. Regardless of my typing in 350, it will default to 100 degrees and stay at 100.As a teacher, I do not have a huge income. I was disgusted with my recent repair estimate of $80 for a service call, and a quote of over $600 for the replacement part, plus some not-yet-determined labor installation costs. Calling the 800 phone number for Maytag connected me to some local people working as independent and overpriced contractors in Los Angeles, California. They are not MAYTAG employees, so they are not well-informed about the product.I miss the time when manufacturers stood by their products, and had factory-trained and authorized employees available to make repairs. I bought this monster Maytag stove from Lowes. I am disgusted with both companies. I have gone online to research buying my own part and hiring a local yokel to put it in. Most everyone I have encountered has been a rip-off artist. I am teaching your kids and grand kids to read and write, and you dont want to help me repair my stove without price-gouging. I can use the burners to some stove-top cooking. Life has become a hassle without being able to cook.

I purchased a Maytag electric range model # MER8775AS in Feb 2012. While boiling syrup, the pan overflowed onto the oven door. As I began to clean up the spill I noticed that some of the spill had gotten inside the door on the inside of the oven glass. To remove the stain would require disassembly of the door. I called Maytag and complained of what I called a design flaw and they said, No, its your fault for spills entering the door. They even sent a condescending email to me informing me that if I needed to purchase parts, where I could get them. I designed appliances for years and this is another example of poor quality and lack of consumer service. I AM DONE WITH MAYTAG.

Hello, I bought the above top load Maytag washer last summer and shortly after purchase the spin cycle was accompanied by a load grinding noise. This became progressively worse per use and I contacted Maytag Canada. The experience calling is a challenge with often busy, and at times long waits. When I did get through on the line they were very good customer-service-wise and arranged for a local accredited company to attend my home and assess the problem. Service visit number one resulted in the lack of parts to fix, so I waited two weeks for the next visit with appropriate parts. Washer began to grind again, I called Maytag, another appointment was set, service call #2 again resulted in the SAME parts being replaced as service #1, and upon departure the washer immediately resumed grinding. Call #3 to Maytag and a 4th visit was scheduled to my home. This time with a different service provider, parts changed washer not fixed. Maytag called and this time I asked for replacement. Three weeks later I received a new washer. The version was updated so the drain hose no longer reached my drain pipe. Once sorted out, my first wash today with the new unit and GGGRRRIIINNDDDING.. I would not recommend this product. Will be calling Maytag again Monday.

As the lady of the house says, Self cleaning means clean it yourself. Whoever engineered this thing needs to go back to school. Adding insult to injury, we have adjusted the oven temperature to its highest and it still cooks so low that a cake has to be cooked for half as long again than the recipe calls for or the middle of it is still raw. I built a new house in 2006. As part of a builders package, we had all new stainless steel Maytag appliances installed. The side by side refrigerator compressor stopped after 26 months (of course, passed any warranty). No customer support through Maytag and as previously posted very scripted responses. Maytag microwave handle has broken off several times, the glass seal in the oven door was compromised and the inside glass is stained - most recently the on-going issue with my Maytag dishwasher model mdb5601. Ive already replaced the handle /door latch assembly twice and am confronted with the current dilemma if I should replace the control panel that now appears not to be working. It goes without saying that I will never purchase Maytag products again. However, I am not in a position to replace what are fairly new products. That being said, I am reluctant to purchase costly replacement parts given their poor performance and ratings as mentioned in this thread.

We bought a Maytag range Nov 2013. My daughter has maytag appliance and stand by maytag. We grew up with maytag. But those days are no longer. It is not about quality, it is about how many did we make, how many did we sell. I am very disappointed with my range. I tried several times to use my upper oven, in disbelief my lower oven was heating. This happened so much that I touch to make sure that the Correct oven is on. I also have problems with my knobs for my burners. I could not turn off burner after finished cooking. We had to unplug range and turn off gas, if we did not do that the burner would have remain burning. This very uncomfortable for us.I still believe in maytag. I am sure we have not talk to the right person. There is too much at stake for the company, too many complaints are bad for any business. I too am a victim, very disappointed, I wont give up. I purchased an over the range microwave (OTR), boxing day 2018. It failed January 2021. It worked great before failing. The issue with Maytag/Whirlpool is their service. I told them before they came out that I was only interested in having it fixed if it could be done that day. They checked that they had the parts and said they could do it, so I moved forward with the appointment. Well they didnt fix it, and said that they need to order a part, which they said would take several weeks. They are trying to bill me the service fee $167, and expect me to wait a month or possibly more to get the part and fix the microwave. Now Im faced with having to pay a service fee for something not fixed and buying a new microwave. Lesson: Never try to repair, cheaper to buy a new product. Other lesson, never buy Maytag or Whirlpool product again. Despite what is on their website and advertising, they have terrible customer service.

When I went to whip down the small shelve under the knobs, I cut my finger on the sharp metal. Was told that is the oven vent. Checked out your instruction book and found NO mention on that being a danger and to take care when cleaning. If I had been informed of that sharp metal piece I dont think I would have looked at your stove. The metal has razor sharp edges on both sides making it almost impossible to get too close to cleaning it. That shelf is a nice place to collect dust, grease and food boil overs and now I have to be extremely careful about cleaning. Thanks to someones not thinking in their designing. I bought a Maytag MGR5605WW range on July 3, 2011 and it took till mid August before I received it. Right away I noticed when I put a pan on the grates, I had to be careful so they did not slip off. I went over to Menards and they gave me the number of A&E (1-800-771-3029). I called them when I got home and an A&E person said they would call me back. After a few more calls, no one ever called me back. I went back to Menards. They said I need to deal with Maytag. I am very concerned with the racks, and so is everyone else. They are cheaply made. Thinking that the Neptune fiasco was over, I happily bought into the sick company and got burnt 3 times for all 3 purchases. The Gemini range with dual ovens: the controller clock with all relays and electronic package is dying, leaving me with no ovens, or slow heating and an alarm in the middle of the night. Now, even the burners are not working properly. Junk at any price, and I paid $2,400. Not 5 years old and repaired several times under warranty; all were electrical failures. The fridge is another failure. Apparently the Freon is leaking out. It is unrepairable and it was typical of these from what the service guy said, not 5 years old. It was repaired once, leaking on floor. Apparently, it was a kinked drain hose. The dishwasher was one year old and it caught fire when the dial was turned while the machine was running. The 4th machine, an over the range microwave, is still running… although from day one it sucks so much power on the dedicated line that it dims the lights in the microwave as it starts up and each time, the magnetron energizes. I am just waiting for it to fail too. Can you say never and mean it? There was no goodwill offered. “So sad” and “too bad” is the common line. Nothing will last more than 5 years if you listen to sales people at Maytag - junk. There was no help from the corporate office. Nothing I can do for you. Junk, junk, junk.

The microwave is 5 years 6 months since purchase model MMV4203DS. Fire started at rack clip left front rack, was cooking bacon. Called Maytag and according to them and manual on page 3 is only for 2-level cooking to avoid damage to microwave oven. DOES NOT SAY WILL CATCH FIRE OR THE RACK CAUSES SPARKS AND BACON SHOULD NOT BE COOKED IN A MAYTAG MICROWAVE. But according to Representatives of MAYTAG ** its my fault for not reading my manual. YES AND NOT HAVING THE SERIAL NUMBER THAT IS ON A PAPER TAG IN THE WHIP ZONE. The was gone from keeping it clean faded out. So I cannot be helped without the model and serial number.

I have run the process 3 to 4 times consecutively in row and the inside oven the oven is never clean. I wipe out the sides over and over. So disappointed. The only saving feature is that you can not see into the horrible look of the inside the oven when it is closed. Was this feature really tested before it went to market????

I have always been an advocate for Maytag Appliances. Never bought anything beside Maytag. Our old Maytag refrigerator broke. Would cost too much to fix. So, we decided to buy new. We had the old white, which I was perfectly fine in buying again, however, white was super expensive. So, the salesperson persuaded us to purchase stainless steel. We got a pkg for close to $4000 all in June of 2016. Needless to say, these items have been called for repair within the 1 year warranty over half a dozen times, and have had to replace pieces that have just broken. My worst experience is the stove. I really do not like it at all. I feel the product is misleading. We wanted a self cleaning oven. It is the newest brand out there for what I consider a joke. It is the AquaLift Technology that does not clean anything. My old Maytag self cleaning oven cleaned far better than this. The same spots are in the oven. It just is worthless. I have addressed my frustration with Maytag where I was told that the oven is for the light user. Well, then you need to educate the people who sell your stuff, because I have a family I cook a lot. If this product was made for an apartment single person who does not cook then we should have been informed. Your product states Self Cleaning. Its not self cleaning!!! My frustration went up to the main office of Maytag where their resolution was to give me a discount on a new stove. What do I do with the one I have, and I was told I could sell it!!!! Really Maytag wow from a consumer that has always been a valued customer this is the level of service I get. I ended up purchasing an extended warranty on all Maytag products, because of my fear of something just breaking again. My advice to all is either buy a no named brand or buy something cheaper. Please folks if you have a family do not purchase these products. Its for people that just need a pretty display of appliances!!!

I purchased this range from a Maytag outlet in Nov. 2006. No problems with it until Nov 2015. The oven igniter failed. This was serviced locally and replaced in an efficient manner by the local service tech. All is good until 2 days later when I decided it is time for an oven cleaning cycle. I set the cycle for Medium Soil (3hrs). After the conclusion of the clean cycle, the oven (bake) would not work. Called Maytag service, the service tech replaced burned up oven wiring as well as the igniter again. However, the cleaning cycle had taken out the gas safety valve control as well. I am now told there is no replacement oven gas safety valve unit available anywhere. I even called Maytags 1-800 number and searched online only to find the part on backorder and not available.I find this particularly frustrating in light that I spent over $1200 on a Maytag product I thought would bring way more than 9 years of service before it is deemed unrepairable. The average gas range lifetime is 18 years. In my opinion, not a good return for the investment. Its a shame because the rest of the range works and looks fine, which is now destined for the dump. I am replacing the Maytag with a $550. Frigidaire with manual cleaning. Will never buy another Maytag appliance or a self cleaning oven again. If the self cleaning feature has the potential to fry the controls, why would they offer such a feature, or why couldnt they warn one of the potential failure.

We purchased a Maytag dishwasher MBD7749AWM on 03/15/12 from Home Depot. The control panel went out on 01/24/12 under warranty. The unit was down approximately 2 weeks waiting for parts and a second service call. Just six months later (approximately 08/05/12), the control panel failed again. Thinking that a trusted American, iconic industry leader such as Maytag would stand behind their product, I called for what I thought would be a covered repair. I explained to a supervisor that their panels have not made it 1 year in service. She assured me there were no out of the ordinary problems with the panels for my model dishwasher in one breath, then stated they were out of parts and on backorder for three weeks. Now the truth comes out, further telling me that the unit is out of warranty and nothing can be done short of sending out a repairman, that I would be responsible for parts and service. After further discussion, she reluctantly agreed to send me the part for free if I arrange the installation and told me that it was very simple to install. When the part finally showed up on my doorstep with no paperwork, it was wrong. When I called and complained for waiting 3 weeks for the wrong part because there was no quality control in their parts and shipping department, all they could do was say sorry. They told me just to keep the part they sent and they would send the correct part. I begged that they ship the correct part overnight and they adamantly stated that was not an option. Maytag stipulates their process only allows ground shipping from FedEx per their contract. Knowing I had no other option, I agreed and waited for 5-day ground. The part showed up 13 days later and delivered by USPS. Apparently, I was lied to again and the left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing. Apparently, Maytag/Whirlpool have an inadequate and poorly trained quality control system in place and their manufacturing and electronic divisions are surly lacking a strong management team needed to go in and clean house. Instead, the whole mess they have contributed to continues to haunt Maytag has continued to be made to believe its okay to produce subpar products while continuing the complete demises of a once trusted American, iconic industry leader all while living on the Lorals of twenty years past.Whirlpool would do itself and this country a huge service by just letting this brand die and thrown on the heaps of scrap steel headed for China where maybe they can copy and fix what they were not capable of.

Because of the power of advertising, we replaced every appliance in our home in 2005 with Maytags. Since then, weve had minor problems with the stove and dryer, many problems with the dishwasher and washing machine, and complete failure of two Maytag microwaves, the last one was only two years old. The washing machine failures resulted in major flood damage two separate times due to two separate failures. Our refrigerator, model MBB2256GEW, has yet to let us down, however, since new it makes loud snapping noises that wake us up at night. It sounds like someone banging two large sticks together. Fortunately, I can repair most of these issues when they arise, but Id much rather get some rest like the Maytag repair man...

Like many people here, I have a Maytag Dishwasher Model # MDB7749SBW3 Serial # F40107007. We have had this dishwasher for about 12 months to 18 months. The first indication that there was a problem was some of the lights were acting strange. Then the dishwasher starting going nuts. I removed power from the unit thinking that maybe the controller became confused. The problem persisted. I would hit buttons and either nothing would happen or something completely different would happen.I take the dishwasher door apart and remove the touch pad. I notice some discoloration on the ribbon cable. I remove the glued on front panel to look at the electronics behind it (see pictures) and I see some discoloration there as well. So using my multimeter, I find that there is a direct short between pins 4 and 5. I vigorously flex the cable at the point of discoloration and the short goes away. So at this point, I doubt that I can get just the flexible circuit strip so Im going to have to pop for a new touch pad assembly. I didnt go further in the measurements as there was no point since I already detected one failure. Furthermore, I inspected the computer control unit and I did not see any obvious signs of corrosion or discoloration anywhere on the processor board. So it appears that there is no problem with it.Conclusion: Many people are at a disadvantage when it comes to electronic devices. In my professional opinion, this is clearly a failure of the insulating material of the ribbon cable due to environmental contamination. Visual inspection shows that corrosion of the conductors is clearly evident. About Me: I have been an electronics technician on and off for over 20 years now. I have a 2-year college degree in electronics technology and I am currently in school to become an electrical engineer. In my house, when something breaks, I fix it.

Maytag stove MGR7662WW - I purchased this stove about 4 years ago. Now, the stove will not light. I called in to Maytag only to be told I must pay a service fee or purchase a repair manual. It’s very strange. My old Kenmore lasted 22 years and here I thought Maytag would at least last 10 years less than half the life of my old stove, realizing products today are not what they used to be. Maytag, the dependability people, I guess that old Maytag commercial where the Maytag repairman is so bored claiming no one needs service for a Maytag product is really false advertising. Buy American products; I’m not really sure who is the current country who is home to the great Maytag corporation. I guess me and my wife will spend another $700 on another brand stove and try this process all over again, hopefully not again in approx 4 years.

I renovated my kitchen 3 years ago. I decided on purchasing new appliances which included refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, range, washer and dryer, all of which I got from Maytag. Of course they were always known for dependability but apparently they were not! What happened to this American product? In the last 3 years, I have had my refrigerator (**) serviced 4 times for the same problem. Each time servicing has been a nightmare at the hands of AE service, Preway service and of course at the helm of my nightmare Maytag Customer service. The first mistake I made was purchasing Maytag products followed by the second mistake of purchasing Maytag service contracts. I now have a refrigerator that is not working, waiting on parts since end of august. When I called Maytag customer service, they confirmed the parts were not available and recommended I go online and try to find the part! This added insult to injury. Today, Preway service finally came to install my parts and upon technician’s arrival he opens the part box and realizes he ordered an ice tray cover, when he should have ordered an Interface Control Board. Maytag continues to have their products serviced by incompetent companies and appears to have no interest in keeping you as a customer after you purchase, whatever happen to the dependable people?Maytag had built their reputation on reliable products and dependable service, what happened to this American Made appliance? Here is a prime example of what happened, and why companies like LG and Samsung are gaining more and more customers every day. The best advice I can give someone is avoid Maytag. By the way, I forgot to mention I have 2 small children ages 3 and 4 and Maytag is not concerned about how I would provide food for them with a refrigerator that does not work. Shame! This is not what I expected from what I thought was a reliable company.

Ive had my Maytag oven for about 5 years and the oven and burners are still working perfectly. The problem is the light bulbs. One of the light bulbs has a rickety connection because I have to keep twisting the bulb every time I turn it on to keep the light on. My other light bulb burned out and Im not replacing it because Im concerned the problem is in the electrical part where I screw it in, not the bulb itself, so Im leaving it off and am using the other annoying bulb and I installed a lamp under the counter to compensate for the missing light from the other stove bulb. The most important part of the oven are the cooking features so even though the bulb situation is annoying, it cooking features perform well.

Purchased Maytag Double Range MGT8720DH00 in March 2015. Within 2 months had to call gas company due to leak and service came out to fix it. Now anytime my house is closed up during a vacation or extended period away I come home to a locked range with a warning message to check to make sure that the knobs are off. Had gas company (who also called fire department) to come out tonight after returning from vacation with same issue again. They tested and said CO2 was ok, but to check reviews for similar ranges and I have seen repeated issues in reviews for Maytag products. The firemen all commented when they saw that it was a Maytag so it seemed like they have seen these issues before. Very scary to think we could be exposed to a constant low level gas leak in our home. Keeping windows open at all times is not a realistic option.

My refrigerator was delivered on April 3, 2016. I began calling for service July 2 when the bottom freezer door started depositing ice chunks on my kitchen floor every time we opened it. An appointment for service was made for July 18, service never showed up. Another appointment for August 3 was made and again service never came. I called the 800 number on Aug 19 again arranged service for Aug 24 after hours so that we did not have to take anymore time off work. When repair finally looked at the fridge they said the door was not aligned and did not close so the frost builds up and breaks off onto the floor. This can be fixed with a new door that can take from 6 weeks to 8 months as they are not stocked and have to be made at a factory. The fridge constantly runs and is starting to leak water through to my kitchen floor and basement ceiling tiles.I called Maytag/Whirlpool on Aug 25 and the service agent told me the best they could do for me was extend my original warrant by 6 months while I wait for replacement part and they advised I purchase the extended warranty. The second agent named Gabby I spoke to advised me to call Home Depot where I purchased the fridge to see if they would do something for me. She would write down my concerns but had nothing more to say or do for me since the repair person deemed the unit repairable and a part has been ordered. I called Home Depot on Aug 25 and I spoke to Appliance Dept who told me the manager who could help me was off that day. He advised me to stick weather stripping around the door to seal the leaks. I said I was hesitant to do anything that may void a warranty and he agreed. He suggested I may get a loaner fridge but I have heard nothing yet. I want a replacement fridge. When you pay $2000 for a fridge it should be worry free for at least a year? I have been reading reviews and I am wondering why this is not a recalled appliance as this seems to be a very common problem. I am sad that Whirlpool is not standing behind this product. Home Depot has been in touch with me regarding this fridge issue and the lack of customer service provided by Maytag. They are replacing the fridge on Sept 9th 2016 and taking the old unit away. Home Depot has tried to get in touch with Maytag and they have not gotten a response at all about my faulty unit. The staff at Home Depot in Peterborough have been excellent to speak to and have apologized for the issues with getting service to my appliance. I am very grateful to them for their assistance and for following up with me in this matter. The downside is that I am getting another exact Maytag unit as a replacement so hopefully this does not start all over again. Home Depot has been a great retailer to deal with. I am very saddened to hear that even Home Depot cannot get responses from this manufacturer. I have also lodged a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

I bought all new Maytag appliances for a new house built 2 years ago. The oven fan, while in warranty, began coming on in the middle of the night. It would turn on, cancel, began not working, and then the ticking noise began. Maytag sent 5 different service people out, sometimes without the part. We are afraid to use it now and have turned off the breaker for it. Now, it is turning itself back on again. Maytag says we must now pay for any repairs/service calls as it is out of warranty. It was not out of warranty when all these troubles began.I called Maytag customer service today and could not have talked to a less customer friendly person. She didnt care that it was in warranty when the trouble began. It is out now and is our problem. There is no one else but her we can talk to about it. She is the decision maker. Model MDB4949SDZ0. 7/10/2018 Purchased from Costco. 7/23/2018 Installed by company arranged by Costco. 6/18/2019 A burning smell was coming from front control panel area of dishwasher when it was turned on. 6/25/2019 & 7/3/2019 Repair technician came to fix but could not find anything wrong so burning smell continued whenever dishwasher was one hour into cycle. 7/12/2019 Repair tech changed out front control panel because burning smell was still coming from handle area. 8/9/2019 Dishwasher does not drain completely when wash cycle is complete. Sometimes there is sudsy water left, sometimes it is clear. The water level is above the heating element at bottom of dishwasher. We only run the machine 2-3 times a week and have been using different cycles to see if the draining issue is with one cycle or all of them. No matter which cycle is used, water remains at the bottom of the dishwasher above the heating element. This seems like way too much residual water. Repair technician is scheduled to come for the 4th time to look at dishwasher but we just received a message that we will have to pay $129 service fee because dishwasher is now out of warranty. I have two major issues with my stove. First is that you have to press enter after setting an oven temperature and it doesn’t even beep to remind you before just cutting off. Older, forgetful people like me have probably prepared countless dishes for the oven only to find that it is not preheated. The second is that if you turn on the timer, it cuts off the oven. You only make that mistake once before writing the timer off as useless. I have a hard time believing that they ran either of these by anyone who cooks! One other mixed feature, the heating element for the oven is below the floor of the oven. This causes it to preheat slower - which compounds problem #1 - but makes cleaning a breeze.

We renovated our kitchen in 2008 and installed all Maytag appliances. We had purchased a Maytag dishwasher 3 years prior to the renovation-- that we kept. Well, the dishwasher was the first Maytag appliance to go. After replacing several cheap plastic parts on the dish racks (I resorted to use twist ties at one point to hold the racks together) the racks started to chip and rust, leaving stains on our dishes. The cost to replace the racks was about $150 so we just replaced the dishwasher (with a Bosch - so far, no problems!)Then, a couple of the igniters on our gas cooktop stopped working. Since they were the back burners that we didnt use much, we just used a match to light them and let it go. Next, one of the hinges on the double wall oven door snapped. This is a little concerning because the doors are heavy and will need to be replaced. And the final straw concerns our French door refrigerator. The control panel started flashing wildly and the ice door was opening and closing with a loud clicking sound. Of course this happened on a weekend so I looked online and found hundreds, if not thousands, of similar complaints. So I called Maytag and spent nearly an hour on the phone only to be told that my model number was not one of the recalled ones. I explained that my problem was exactly like the others and was told that the best they could do was offer me 50% off any parts. The service call and shipping would not be covered either. The Maytag representative that I spoke to tried to cheer me up by telling me that at least they had the part I would need in stock, unlike the recalled models. Those parts are discontinued and have to be specially manufactured and have a two month waiting period. The part is about $250 and add to that the shipping and service call and I am sure this is going to cost me several hundred dollars even with the discount on the part. Very, very disappointed. Never again will I buy Maytag, never again!

Had a Maytag Dishwasher that was recalled in 2007 model # DWU9962AAE. I was sent a notice of recall and when I contacted the Maytag staff in the Recall department said that they were sending out a replacement as the unit. Mine was being recalled due to defects in the heater element, which could cause electrical failure and fire. I was pleased they were offering to replace the unit, and within a week or so, a new unit was delivered. This is where the troubles began... the delivery/install person from a local retailer, complained the entire time about having to do this job, was ill-equipped to perform the install, twice he thought he would have to stop as he did not have the correct tools he shared with me. I felt this was odd, if this is the job he did all the time? I asked for a bill of sale or something that would show that this unit had a warranty, and date of install. I was told that in these cases, the local retailer that is contracted to install takes care of all that. I did get the Dishwasher use and care guide, and it seemed like new unit. I had never had a recalled unit of a major appliance. Also since Maytag had my address, phone and email information as they set the install up. I believed the installer. Fast forward to about 2009 and the control panel on the door starts to lose cycles. I decided that since it was just me using the unit and the cycles I used most worked I would not bother with the repair.Fast forward to late October of this year 2015. The dishwasher Maytag model # MDB9601AWW finally does not turn on any longer... I call Sears to have an estimate for repair of the circuit board in the door. I give Sears the model and serial number... and schedule an appointment. The repairman gives me a cost of roughly $600 to replace the circuit board in the door! I tell him no thanks pay $ 59.00 and decide I will buy a new unit... I review many sources such as consumer reports, where it becomes evident that Maytag as a brand is not very reliable. At that point I decide to call Maytag and speak to them about my issues. Two dishwashers in very short order have issues. Also my new unit only had a one year warranty. So much to my surprise when I called Maytag I was informed they did not have any records of my contact information at my current address..? And worse there was a recall on my current dishwasher back in 2010! I was never informed of this, and had used a potentially hazardous appliance for 5 years with no knowledge of this! How could that be though since I was given my current unit by them in 2007. I was very unhappy at this point.... but my disappointment with Maytag was about to deepen.I was also not happy with Sears Home Repair.... They are informed about all product recalls, and had my model and serial number. When those were entered into their computers when I made the appointment and again when the repairman came out and captured that information on my dishwasher himself that should have alerted him to the recall. Not an opportunity to sell me a $ 600 repair that did not even address the defect for the which the recall was issued. So I am now routed to the Maytag recall department.... where all they offer me is a $ 150 coupon for an expensive Maytag dishwasher? So after explaining my situation... and asking the woman I was on the phone with If she would invest $400 or 500 more dollars in Maytag dishwashers, given my experience with 3 failures of their products in two separate units that were not that old? She said she understood. She arranged for her manager Carol to call me the next day at 9:00 am PST. The call never came, and two hours later when I called in they tried to tell me it would be another 24-48 hours before she could return my call? I was now very unhappy. I asked to speak with her supervisor Tim. He too was unavailable, finally after a very long time waiting on hold. I was connected with Amber. I explained again my issues and told Amber that I would like another Maytag Dishwasher to be offered to me..... as this was a very unique set of circumstances... She was willing to let me write letters like this and contact the Consumer Products Safety Commission and lodge a complaint. I am waiting to be contacted by the manager that handles recalls from Maytag. She alleged that they CPSC does not allow the Mfg to assign specific compensation to individuals. That is true....when they are only subject to one failure as part of the recall.... according to the woman I spoke with at the CPSC. However I had not only that complaint; but the circuit board issue and as goodwill gesture to any consumer they (CPSC) have no jurisdiction.... and Maytag could do as they wish. However I doubt anyone but Amber a low level manager, who took it upon herself to make this decision on her own, without even punting to her boss Tim when I shared my story. I just this last weekend bought a new Bosch dishwasher.... and would caution anyone who was considering the purchase of any Maytag appliance of any kind to use my experience as a cautionary tale.

Purchased Maytag front load washer model MHW6630HW from Home Depot. Machine was installed 9/15/19. From inception we had issues that have escalated. Machine leaks and makes strange hissing sounds. Home Depot has no record of the purchase in their website now. We tried to return it within days. We contacted Home Depot executive offices and they keep sending Paradise Appliance repair. The repair people do nothing and keep saying we have to come back again for you to be considered for replacement. Home Depot is dragging their feet and we are concerned about the six month deadline. The Maytag does not do an effective job washing and clothes comes out wrinkled. Concerned about the sporadic leak getting worst and doing damage to floors.

I was in my bed and lights and TV flickered. Then, I heard a small explosion and my dogs went crazy. I went into the kitchen and my Maytag Gemini stove was smoking and smells really bad. I unplugged it. The sockets and the one close to it no longer work. My house stinks now. What happened? I have had this stove for a few years but it is not used often except during the holidays.

First I would like to thank the salesman who has worked diligently to solve the problem I am having. The first load of dark clothes I washed came out with what looked like lint on them. It has to be scraped off. Yes I am using HE detergent. Yes I am using the minimum amount recommended by the manufacturer. & yes to all the other questions I have asked. The solution was to wash the dark clothes on power wash with an extra rinse. Very energy efficient! This was NOT the answer so I was given a 1-800 # to call. After giving all the necessary information & answering all of the questions about detergent etc. the conversation became a little more in depth. Does it happen with dark clothes? Do you dry your clothes outside or in a drier? It was becoming obvious to me that Maytag is aware of this problem. By this point I was even unhappier as no solutions were being offered. Finally after several would you mind holding the line again for just a minute he said he couldnt tell me to do this but some of his friends add a cup of vinegar to their wash. At this point I told him I was sorry I had ever bought this machine. He then said he would have a technician arrange an appointment. He arrived & declared I was using too much detergent even though by then I was using half on the manufacturers recommended amount. Buying an energy efficient washer where I have to use POWER WASH, EXTRA RINSE, VINEGAR & DRIER is not a good answer for a problem Maytag must be aware of as I read the reviews today. I have just done 2 loads of dark laundry with no detergent & the pants are marked so I WANT AN ANSWER.

I purchased a complete Maytag set for my kitchen (fridge, double oven, microwave, dishwasher) from Home Depot on November 22nd 2012. About two months ago I noticed the dishwasher started to glitch here and there, but was still functional. I removed the panel and found that the wiring was completely corroded and would need to be replaced. I put everything back together and have managed to make it almost a month on the same cable. In the mean time, I searched for my receipts, my manuals, and anything else to show my purchase given the 10 YEAR WARRANTY Maytag wants to mention as a sale point. Aside from Home Depot not being able to find my order information to duplicate the receipt, I managed to find where I had ordered my set online and was emailed a copy. Home depot is not involved with the warranty process, unless you purchase the additional warranty. They deferred me to Maytag. I contacted Maytag and was informed that the warranty only covers the stainless internal tub, the racks, and the chopper. Seriously?? So, absolutely NOTHING mechanical about the product past one year. After paying the $699 for the washer, and another 57.99 for installation and kit, I was told by Maytag that I could buy another 1 year warranty that would cover the part, but it would cost me $289, or roughly half the price I paid to get a whole two years out of the dishwasher in the first place. This means I might as well be paying almost $300 a year just to have this product... ridiculous!! Just to buy the part and do the work myself, the part is $172 plus tax/shipping. Since it is only 4 screws and a couple clips holding this thing on, I am likely going to go that route.I have read many people saying similar things about the electronic wire corroding and this appears to be a well known issue with their products. They recommend sealing the entire area using a tube of silicone to help reduce the amount of time it takes to ruin another cable. Very very very poor craftsmanship. Nice racket they have through charging people so much every couple of years for their products!! As my $4000 kitchen appliance set falls apart, I doubt I will ever replace it with another Maytag item.

Such a horrible and expensive kitchen purchase. The stainless looking piece
Such a horrible and expensive kitchen purchase. The stainless looking pieces are either fake or very poor quality - they scratch so easily. After the first year of use the top of the stove looked like it was 30 years old. The oven glass is extremely hard to get at to clean - you have to remove very finicky screws that dont go back into place easily. Oven temp is questionable and it takes a very long time to heat up. I would never recommend the Maytag Gemini oven to anyone.

I purchase my Maytag Side by Side Refrigerator back in 2006 New. I purchase a Maytag based on the supposedly quality of their Products. And I have stove, and dishwasher as well. A week ago, after purchasing groceries, and made it home. The Refrigerator had gone out. I tried calling Maytag without success and broke down and called sears repair to come out. Well they made it today, and I was informed the Compressor had gone out, and would cost me $998.00 to repair. Of course I told him to get out of my home, because at that price I could purchase a new one. And you can bet it want be a Maytag ever again. I am so disappointed in their claims of being the best. Hype!!!
