Maytag ser5000 washing machine from hell. When called the customer-service stated over the phone there is bearing problem. When the service-man show up, took one look (approx 50 seconds) at the washing machine (which only 4yrs old), stated he is not touching it and not worth to fix it - get this! Due to bearing! Charged me $200 as standard fee. To put salt on the wound, service-name stated: Ive should told the customer-service bearing problem which is very well known by Maytag! Therefore, save my $200. Note, I will NEVER buy Maytag appliances!!!

Same thing as everyone else. The motherboard/control board, the main face of the washer went out and this part isnt covered on an $800 commercial washer after only 3 years of residential use on a commercial washer. Menards refused to swap it out, saying this is Maytags issue. Maytag boasts their 10 year warranty and labels it right on the motherboard as a 10 year warranty, but the motherboard isnt covered? If the main computer isnt covered, What is covered? Just screws? I called Menards and got nowhere. Called Maytag and held for an hour then had to hang up so I can work. The warranty is extremely misleading and is the reason we bought this particular washer, because it says 10 year parts warranty right there, but Maytag conveniently doesnt consider the main control board a part.

I have had the washer and dryer for a little over 2 years. The washer already needs to be replaced as the cost to replace the drum is almost as much as a new washing machine by another brand. Thought Maytag was the very best. I had a GE washer for years before I purchased this set. The GE wasnt broken but THOUGHT I was upgrading..NOT!!! Will not purchase Maytag again. Very unhappy!!!

I purchased a 2011 Bravos top loader washer machine. Doing a minimal amount of laundry for 2 persons, the Bravos is in disrepair needing bearings and an inner and outer tub. I was told to purchase a prepaid service call for $350 that will cover repairs plus a mere 1 year additional warranty. The washer sounds like a jet plane, gives off fouls odors, has black tar like residue after each wash and clothes never smell clean. Maytag has no complaint process, except an online chat that tells you to buy the prepay. Maytag has dumped a lemon on consumers and arrogantly expects us to pay for their garbage. They are disrespectful, dishonest and greedy and dont deserve anyones hard earned money for their ill made products.

This is the worse washing machine ever. Wish Id never have bought it. Clothes come out unclean, washer cleaner cycle doesnt work, water level is almost none, etc etc. I could go on and on, you get the picture. Coming here and seeing 100s of negative reviews and complaints many of which I suffer from as well, just clarifies how bad this machine really is. There has got to be a way to bring a class action lawsuit or arbitrary suit against them. Im pretty confident that there are probably 100s more who are dealing with this shoddy washing machine as we all are.

Maytag 18.5 cu ft Bottom Freezer Refrigerator purchased 12/10/12. 1/12/16 the bottom of the freezer had an inch of ice that leaked onto the floor. My plumber chipped away ice and unclogged drains $97.50. 4/19/18) the same $97.50. 5/22/18 an appliance repair business installed a drain kit $148.40. This was his 25th Maytag with the same problem. A whole website has complaints about this problem. I sent a letter to Maytag and they wanted to send out their technician to find out the problem (with a service cost to me). With all these complaints, and a kit to fix it, they already know the problem but refuse to do anything about it. Maytag used to be a reputable company. No more. The customer service said I should have bought an extended warranty. I said a $1400 refrigerator should last longer than 3 years (the first leaking occurrence). I will never buy a Maytag product (nor Whirlpool that makes it).

Maytag Front load washer mah8700aww - This washer has been the biggest boat anchor of a machine. Nothing but trouble and bad parts. New motor after 18 months, water level sensor at 2 years, main control board twice now at 2 years and 4 years, and now it is showing signs of needing yet another main board. E3 trouble code plagues our home and basement. This machine has been leveled and re-leveled numerous times and still shakes like crazy... I mix my paint cans by setting them on the top... the best use for this machine. Yes it sits on a concrete floor. So not satisfied and will not ever buy another Maytag anything. There should be a negative star rating. It does not deserve even 1 star after being taken advantage of like we and thousands of others have been.

Updated on 10/09/2019: Well I wrote a review on my brand new Maytag washer
Updated on 10/09/2019: Well I wrote a review on my brand new Maytag washer that we bought at Lowes in June. When I wrote the last review I was waiting for our repair. They did come to repair and I was told by the repair guy (keep in mind the washer was only 2 months old at the time) that there were 3 fail codes. He said that it was overloaded or loaded wrong. That you cant wash towels with sheets, you cant wash any kind of rug no matter the size, which I only wash small bathroom rugs that are NOT oversized or heavy, you cant wash tennis shoes (which I have not). So I asked him what is the point of investing in what is supposed to be a top of the line, heavy duty, extra large tub, commercial washer? He said that you cant do that with any machine. I told him our old washer that we had 13 years had no problem with washing towels & sheets together. My point is that I am 100% disappointed in this washer & I encourage you to NOT buy Maytag, apparently they no longer live up to their brand.Original Review: We did our research & comparing & this machine came up on top. Its size suites our needs & we were excited about all the great features. We purchased it in mid July of 2019 so its 2 months old & for the last month it started to shut off in the middle of a wash cycle. At first we thought that maybe we were doing something wrong. So we would re-start it & it worked. Fast forward 3 weeks, it was doing it almost every time. Now it isnt working at all, it starts to fill up then shuts down before it starts to wash.Today is a Friday & I called Maytag to request a service call under the warranty (60 days old) Maytag had me on hold for 19 minutes before I could even talk to someone! The customer service person (once she was on) was very nice & sympathetic but couldnt get anyone out to service our machine until Tuesday, which is a HUGE inconvenience since we have not been able to wash for the last 3 days. I am highly disappointed in the machine for the simple reason that I paid for a new topnotch machine because my old one that 13 years old finally gave out & now am in the same situation & in for $1000 I paid for this new washer & having to go pay to do laundry 2 MONTHS later! I will add to my review once they have performed the service call to see if the issue is resolved or the machine replaced if they cant fix it.

Its frustrating the way the bottom of the dishwasher has curves making wasted space. Finally, I really dont get the lighting system for dishwashing on the outside of the machine.

A pure piece of junk this wash machine is. It is more of a merry go round than a wash machine. I do not understand how it can be called energy efficient. All it does is spin and spin and clothes come out as beautifully dirty as they were loaded. If you make the mistake of putting a few extra clothes (machine calls itself a large capacity), clothes bunch up and one has to pull them apart. The bleach dispenser was used as one would use a bleach dispenser. However it is all rusted. I had bought extended warranty from Lowes but Lowes did not honor the warranty saying rust was a cosmetic issue. Yet when Lowes sold the extended warranty, they did not specify cosmetics were not covered. It is not even cosmetic. It simply is cheap enamel paint.I have used 200 dollar wash machines but never have I experienced such a horrible and annoying product. I will try one more time to see if Maytag will help out with the rust issue. If not, I will simply cut my losses and buy a regular cheap machine. Maytag should be ashamed of itself. I bought a Maytag because I thought they made the best machines!!! Oh! Well, maybe they did at one time.

I bought my Maytag in 2013. It worked fine at first but for the last year it isnt getting clothes clean. In fact, some look like theyve never been washed. I have to run the rinse cycle 2-3 times and they still seem somewhat soapy. The washer still leaves clothes drippy after running the spin cycle. It takes 2-3 hours to complete a small load. Now my dryer is not drying clothes. It feels like there is heat, but after 1 hour, the clothes are all hot and steamy, but still really wet. Purchased this washer at the end of August and it was delivered the first week of September. On September 27th the rubber seal around the door somehow got tangled in with a shirt and was ripped off (absolutely no idea how that even could have happened) and spilled water all over the floor. I called Maytag on Sept 27 and they had a tech out here by October 2nd which was great. However, even though I had told them the problem and that the rubber seal was damaged the tech didnt bring one when he came. I had to call them last week to find out what was going on - they had the tech call me and he said that the part had just shipped and he should have it by next week - Today, I had to call again as there was no follow-up from the tech and was told that hopefully the tech will come on October 21st once he gets the part as he hasnt received it yet. I regret purchasing Maytag, as I had heard they had better service (local techs/parts warehouses) than LG or Samsung but that doesnt appear to be the case. 3 Weeks to repair a $1400 washer that I used for about 4 weeks is unacceptable. On top of the inconvenience Ive had to spend $40+ dollars a week at a laundry mat, plus waste my time. One star service.

Called Maytag back on 3.10.2019 and asked how we could get this part and oven fixed. Customer service representative was not very helpful as they asked for part number which she was told was a circuit board and the tech they sent did not give that to us. After the customer service rep continued to provide any help other than say call service tech they sent out. I asked what if they replaced it for us since we have been without now for almost as long as we have owned. She stated Maytag does not do this except in extreme cases. I asked what is considered extreme cases. She stated she did not know. At this point I asked if she could transfer me to her supervisor and sat on hold for an hour, then had to leave for work. 1998 MAH4000 - I got this unit (used) in 2004 for $400, and it has pretty much kinda been a lemon ever since. I have babied it through until now, though it had the wax motor repaired twice (Im glad I bought an extended warranty from Maytag, but that added $400). Now the motor control has gone out. I like the concept of the front-loader, but my folks Maytags (and my grandparents) have run for 30+ years without any of the hassles Ive had.Granted, I like bleach, so the mold thing has been less of an issue for me, but wow. I have to say I wont ever purchase another Maytag appliance again. Im about to drop the $185 for a new motor (the motor control board went out, and apparently I need to get the new motor and control). Im pretty sure I lost a phase based on the burnt components on the board. Im glad I know a bit about electronics, or else Id really have been in for some money. Boo on this model!!

I have a Maytag refrigerator that is 7 years old. It works fine except it needs a new freezer door gasket. In trying to get the part so it can be repaired I discovered that they had chosen to discontinue production of this part. I can no longer get it anywhere. They were the most unhelpful customer service I have ever worked with. They refused to try to find a part for another model that may work. They refused to offer a discount on a replacement product. They even refused to give me a phone number to talk to management. I had always been a loyal customer to their brand prior to this but I will never again purchase a Whirlpool or Maytag product. I dont expect not to have an issue but I do expect the ability to be supported in obtaining a commonly replaced part for a major appliance that is less than 10 years old.

We have a Maytag Gemini Double Oven Range Model MGR6775ADW. This is a gas range and it was purchased in 2006. This past Saturday afternoon after cleaning the dishes, the igniters on the range starting ticking on their own. I checked to make sure the knobs were not on and they werent. The ticking finally stopped after about 2 minutes. After the ticking stopped, we planned on going out for a walk. Fortunately we didnt. In about 10 minutes after the igniters quit ticking, the range burst into flames. Flames were in the top oven and shooting out the vent holes and the holes where the knobs are located. Coal black smoke was also pouring out of the vents. I quickly pulled the stove away from the wall to prevent the cabinets from starting on fire and I pulled the plug to shut off electricity from the stove. The flames subsided shortly after pulling the plug. The kitchen and house smelled of burning wire insulation and plastic. After doing some research on the internet, I found out that many other people have had the same problem. I reported this to Maytag Customer Service and they wanted to send a repair technician to fix it. I told them I didnt want it fixed but wanted it out of my house. I told them I didnt trust the range since some people reported they had it fixed and the fire occurred again. I wouldnt be able to sleep or go out anywhere knowing that the kitchen range could erupt into flames at any time. The factory authorized repair technician, from A&E, did come to inspect the damage and to report back to Maytag on his findings. He admitted that he wouldnt even trust the range in his house. After paying $1300 for this range and only getting 6 yrs. of use, I feel that we deserve some restitution from Maytag on this badly designed and dangerous piece of equipment they have been selling. Do not buy the Maytag Gemini range. This is a bad and dangerous product.

Like most people with this Bravos machine, I am 3 months out of warranty and the ball bearing is trash. When the wash goes into spin cycle, it makes a loud clicking noise and takes a few minutes to start spinning. I called service repair and he told me that it was the ball bearing and to talk with them as he has dealt with quite a few high end machines from Maytag that are breaking down after warranty. I should have realized there was a problem when we kept coming up with white spots on our clean laundry and would have to re-rinse clean clothes. This kind of defeats the water saver that is advertised with the machine.Do not buy this product. For a high end washer and dryer, there are many problems. Maybe that is why the Maytag guy is not shown sleeping in commercials any longer. Hes too busy fixing all these machines. Btw, they wont cover the part even though I offered to pay for the service. The best they can do is give me 25% off. Yippee! I cant wait for the other problems to hit me like everyone else.

With only three adults in the house using it for regular clothes washing, we were surprised when we had to call a repairman and the charge was going to be over $500 to fix the transmission and clutch. We had the same problem as described in many of the other comments, i.e., door sensor would not work properly and machine would not spin. Not even worth it to fix. There are few nightmares that worm their way into reality, but the forcing upon us of the low water washing machine has excelled beyond mans wildest imagination. A tool which everyone finds an absolute necessity is now a tool which does not work! In reference to this particular machine, there isnt enough water to wet the clothes, it beats the garments with such viciousness, even on hand wash, pieces go missing off the clothes, ripped into oblivion. You no longer can buy a machine which does not SENSE the water level, so we have all been reduced to either buying new clothes every week, or wearing crumpled wrinkled disasters which arent quite clean, and we get to use 3x the electricity and waste 3x more water, not to mention wasted time in repeating the process in hopes of getting our clothes clean and wearable.

I purchased both the washer and dryer in this series. First the washer does a horrible job actually cleaning the clothes unless you set it as a bulky load and use more water. Despite that issue, after only owning the set for four years the dryer broke down. It made a terrible noise and you could not run it because it was far too noisy. My husband thankfully bought a replacement part and fixed that issue. A few months later I started having trouble with the washing machine. It freezes constantly and I have to unplug to get it working again. It usually take over 15 times to actually get it to begin to fill with water. Now it started to stop working during the wash cycle and I have to unplug it again to get it going. Most times I have to change it to another setting like rinse and spin or drain and spin to complete a wash cycle. Last night it began to have a plastic burning smell. I used to own the same washer for 20 years and only had minor issues that come with extended use. To only own this pair for under five years and have them both break down proves that these are poorly made products and you should save your money and purchase a different brand altogether. I will never buy another Maytag as long as I live if this is how well their products are made. I expect to have my appliances last longer than five years for their price. So save your money when it comes to these machines. I promise you will not be happy with your purchase. I will either have to repair the washer and hope it will last at least a few more years or chalk this up to a lesson learned and discard both machines.

The repair people do nothing and keep saying we have to come back again for you to be considered for replacement. Home Depot is dragging their feet and we are concerned about the six month deadline. I bought a new smart washer and dryer from Maytag in mid-2019. Beginning in the first few weeks the machine did not perform as expected--cut off in middle of cycle, door failed to unlock at end of a cycle, constant error messages that made no sense (power failure when power didnt fail, codes that arent defined in the owners manual). To make a long story short, the company that does their warranty repair, which has worked on the machine approximately 8 times, tells me there is nothing else they can do, the machine is a lemon. But their customer service department refuses to replace it. They say it must be repaired, yet again. But the parts are out of stock (which should be a pretty good indication that theres a problem with product quality). So I am to wait. How long? They dont know. Call again tomorrow.Do NOT buy a Maytag appliance. Customer service does not stand behind their products and the products are no longer up to the quality I had previously expected from Maytag. Additionally, telephone wait times on the customer experience line can exceed an hour and are customarily over 30 minutes. Never had an experience like this with any other major appliance customer service department.

Well Maytag, I have to say that I am very disappointed with your washer. When I put it on the bedding setting and try to wash a big load, it barely moves the load around. If you have a regular agitator to replace this useless one that is in this new washer I would like to have one. My laundry is barely getting washed and when you look inside the washer everything that is on the top stays on the top, not like the older washers where you could see that the laundry was getting sucked down with the proper agitator.

We have a Maytag dishwasher that came with the house we purchased in 2012. Im not sure of the exact age but the former owner said it was a relatively new installation. The appliance works very well; cleans well. Just a couple of things of concern. First, it is really noisy. The fact that we can very clearly hear it running in the adjacent room does not speak well for it in this regard. The other things that has occurred is that rusting is evident on the trays of the dishwasher. One of the upright pieces has already broken off due to rust and two others are close to coming apart very soon. Nothing sharp is placed in those areas that are coming apart so there would be nothing remarkable to disturb the plastic coating on the wire racks. I can only conclude that the plastic coating was defective at the start; hence the rusting at the base of the upright pointing racks. That said, it does clean well but I dont foresee this unit lasting much longer overall due to the rack damage that is continuing to occur. I would expect the racks to at least last as long as the dishwasher but this does not seem very likely at the rate the racks are deteriorating.

I cannot use my Maytag gas range and oven appliance until I can purchase part #W10213446, which your factory website shows as back-ordered until 2020. This means that I cant cook a meal or have the family and friends Ive invited come to my home for Christmas dinner. I need your help to provide better customer service than Ive received to date through working with the Maytag customer service call center, and the service Maytag parts distributors Reliable Parts and WC May company have received from working through your factory website.Ive owned Whirlpool appliances since I built my home in 1989. When I remodeled my kitchen in August 2010 I chose a Maytag range, fridge, dishwasher and microwave as Id had a good experience with your products for 21 years. Youve built a great reputation for quality products and service, and I hope that you will continue to deliver on the commitment promised in your brand by resolving my problem quickly. A burner control on my three-year-old gas range and oven (model #MGR6775; serial #D00934496) recently stopped working (a Maytag design defect - several screws were too weak to hold the cooktop at the correct level) and your customer service call center referred me to A&E Factory Service for the repair. A&E service staff have been to my home twice and are unable to fix my stove leaving me without a stove for the past two weeks and foreseeable future - as the necessary part, #W10213446, is shown as back-ordered with no estimated time of arrival. The WC May company let me know that your website shows an ETA of 2020 for this part on your factory parts website. When the service repairman informed me that the part was indefinitely back-ordered today, I called the Maytag customer service center asking them to locate and expedite delivery of the part. The line staff and her supervisor let me know that they would not provide that service, as I do not have a pre-existing extended warranty contract for the range. I am willing to pay for expediting the part, but they wont give me that option. So I called the parts retailers covering the western U.S. myself to learn that Whirlpools supply chain is so flawed that it cannot provide a part for a three-year-old range.Whirlpools core principles espoused on your website say that founders Lou, Emory and Fred Upton continually improved their washer; they cared about their community, their employees and their customers. They believed that there is no right way to do a wrong thing. It also states that what truly distinguishes Whirlpool Corporation is our commitment to building strong brands and a loyal consumer base. Were focused on maximizing the benefits of our worldwide network of resources, which is unmatched in the industry.I believe that leaving me for up to two months without a range, so that I cant cook meals for myself every day, and for my family during the Christmas holidays is not living up to your brand promise. Please let me know as soon as possible how you will solve this problem.

Purchased our Maytag in October 2009. From the beginning it would make loud, popping noises occasionally but seemed to work just fine. At the time of purchase, we opted to buy the 5 year extended warranty for $125.00 (just in case). Here we are at seven months after that warranty is no longer any good and the freezer leaks all over the floor and we have to keep a towel at the bottom to soak it up.This morning I wake up to the panel being completely out and fridge is not running at all!!! We thought when we purchased our Maytag that we were buying the best of the best... not even close! We just paid for an expensive piece of junk! Who has the extra money just lying around to go buy a new fridge? Not us! This is unacceptable!!! I have read other reviews that sound pretty much exact to our experience with this refrigerator. I hope somehow they can and will be held responsible for putting this product on the market knowing full well it is an over-priced piece of junk.

So we bought the whole Maytag kitchen appliance FZ (fingerprint resistant)
So we bought the whole Maytag kitchen appliance FZ (fingerprint resistant) series suite. That was such a mistake! Id give the part numbers but I think this applies to Maytag in general as it sounds like all of their appliances suck. Ours are 1½ year old and I already want new ones. Over $3,600 for junk. We knew it was no Viking or Sub Zero but didnt expect to flush $4k down the toilet either. The microwave is an over the range type and we have it vented to the outside of the house. The vent works like crap to remove the steam when you have a large pot of water boiling on the stove top. I can put the fan on high and barely any steam goes up the vent, most of it ends up soaking the microwave door to the point where I have to towel it off. The vent will hold up a paper towel so I know its pulling air but the location of the vent in relationship to the large front burners makes it useless. And the self cleaning is as others have already stated - A joke.We bought the fingerprint resistant SS and I would rather have the fingerprints than all of the scratches. Today, and this is no BS, I had a lottery ticket on the fridge under a magnet and I pulled the ticket because I wanted to check the numbers, well I slid the paper about 4 inches while it was still on the fridge under the magnet and now we have these fine scratches everywhere I did this. It wasnt the magnet because it has a felt backer on it, I took the paper off and slid the magnet all over the place, no scratching. I cant believe a piece of paper would even leave a mark at all. This is aside from some larger scratches that someone in the house must have used a feather duster on it or something. The French door fridge is loud and the ice maker is huge! The slide out basket in the freezer always gets cockeyed and stuck like its coming off the track. To line up the door tops you have to adjust the feet on the bottom of the fridge. I have to put ours out of level to get the door tops to line up, well this makes it look terrible in the cabinet space so you have to make a choice of what is uglier - thats just bad engineering. Our old fridge (GE) you could adjust the doors right on the bottom of the door. Its like they forgot this and said, Well you can just tip it one way or another to get them to line up, ya lets put that in the manual. The dishwasher sucks, plan on rinsing everything, even the silverware doesnt come clean. No its not our water. We are so disappointed in this brand which used to be considered very good, what the heck happened? Ship manufacturing over to China? And another thing, I highly doubt this is stainless steel. I know there is ferritic and martensitic stainless that are magnetic but Id bet all of my appliances that this is just regular carbon sheet steel with some coating on it to give a stainless steel look. All except for the range, that is different and doesnt scratch like the fridge, microwave, and dishwasher. Not sure why but probably has to do with the heat so they couldnt use this junk coating, just a guess though. Anyway it doesnt matter, all of the appliances are a complete waste of money. Poor design, poor performance, poor durability, pure junk!

OK, LAWYERS -- Where are you?!! You have a lot of very unhappy people who feel they have been justifiably TAKEN! Whirlpool needs to replace these refrigerators with another brand! We bought same bottom freezer Maytag refrigerator in 2010. Luckily, which we dont usually do, we purchased a five year warranty plan. Within six months we noticed the rubber seal on our refrigerator on the french door part was turning yellow and then getting darker. We feared something was burning the rubber. A Maytag repairman looked at it, called Whirlpool, told them that there werent enough parts to fix this refrigerator. Whirlpool asked him what they should do and he told him it should be taken out on the front lawn and burned (yeah for that repairman)!! Whirlpool agreed to replace the refrigerator with one, very similar but a new model #. Thank heavens, after our insistence, the warranty was extended to the new one. Now after about three years, we are having the same problems that all of you are having with the next one.. Our Home Owners insurance adjuster just gave us a settlement to have all the ceramic tiles removed, which are cracked in almost two dozen places, and whole floor replaced (minus our $1,000 deductible). The floor was put in new three years ago. The refrigerator repairman is next to come out. From what I have just read about all the complaints on this refrigerator, NOTHING is going to fix this problem short of replacing it at our expense. My advise to everyone --- FIGHT THIS. Write to Whirlpool (not Maytag -- Whirlpool owns it), and blast them over and over with letters and complaints and threats of lawsuits. Why should we be taken for that amount of money while Whirlpool does nothing but keep it. A class action suit is badly needed. Big corporations should not be able to take people over like this and get away with it. If it takes a lawyer willing to take on a class action suit, this is it! In the meantime, bombard Whirlpool with letters and dont stop! It takes persistence, but in the end -- most of the time, we will prevail. Big companies hope we will give up and go away. They count on it. Dont let them win!!! I have had a Maytag washer and dryer for twenty years with no problems. Problem is that Maytag doesnt exist anymore -- who is making this....?

My complaint sounds just like the others listed here. Purchased Maytag dishwasher MDBH979SAB1 at Home Depot 2/2013. In June 2014, the control panel started to malfunction. When I called Maytag, these were the options given: 1--have it serviced out of warranty at $89-$150 for repairmans trip & diagnostic, which doesnt include parts & labor or 2--obtain something called Repair plus one, which covers the cost of repair and reinstates the warranty for one year at the low cost of $264.95. So either way, Im going to have to pay almost 1/2 of the original purchase price. Ridiculous! We had our previous dishwasher (not a Maytag) for over 13 years, with only minor repairs. We purchased a Maytag because we thought it was a reputable company that stands behind their products---well dont believe it! I would NEVER recommend any of their products.

I purchased a Maytag microwave oven on July 22, 2011. It was delivered August 2. Model no. MMV4203DW, serial no. CK01001086. I paid $279 at Lowes Spokane Valley WA. I made a family brand name dinner for six in the original black carton, put the rack into the microwave, followed all the directions as the microwave was new. The carton melted inside and burned a place where the rack had rested. This melted before the time was up. I had followed all the directions. This was the first incident that was a problem. Next incident was a large bag of popcorn (microwave has two settings for popcorn--large or small). This burned the bag black before the allowed automatic setting. Third incident was another bag of popcorn, which resulted to a fire. I tried putting it out with a large lid, which now has permanent black smoke stains. The fire was so hot I could not remove the popcorn bag. I had to use two pancake spatulas to throw it outside where it continued to have flames and burned itself out. The next fire was with a baked potato. This was set for a regular potato setting. This fire was great flames. I tried putting this out with salt and a pan lid. I also removed it with a large metal strainer, an Asian type which is large, and used another spatula to scoop the flaming potato and took it outside while it continued to burn. This time the microwave burned itself out. All lights would not function so I unplugged it from the outlet. I have repeatedly told Ava that I had previously owned a Kenmore convection microwave and the only time I used the rack was when I baked something. She continued to ignore this and said that I used the rack to make popcorn, baked potato, etc.

I bought a refrigerator from Home Depot in July 2013. In late November 2014, I noticed water on the floor in front of the fridge. I called the Maytag customer service and reported the problem.. The customer service rep explained to me that Maytag discovered a design flaw in the part that allows the water to drain when going through the defrost cycle. I also called Home Depot. Their response was it was my problem because the fridge was out of warranty and I did not buy an extended warranty plan. After two more calls to Maytag, they scheduled a service appointment. The service repairman told me the same thing about the design flaw. I have the old part and the package the new part was in. The two parts are completely different. I requested that Maytag or Home Depot replace the fridge or give me credit for the amount I spent. Maytag is now saying there was not a design flaw and because of that, Home Depot refuses to replace the appliance. I will never buy another Maytag product or shop at Home Depot. The extended warranty is a way to place the responsibility directly on the consumer and eliminating the responsibility of the manufacturer and the store.

The Maytag Bravos Washer we bought had a stinky odor we couldnt get rid of. We found that clothes had gone over the basket and lodged in the filter above the pump; end of stinky smell. Maytag Bravos XL - I have always loved Maytag and never had any problems. In Feb we did some major remodeling with new flooring in our laundry room. Decided to buy a brand new washer and dryer even though our 10-year old Maytag washer and dryer worked perfectly fine. After looking at Home Depot and Lowes we first settled for a Samsung W & D but before it was delivered we shopped some more. After doing some inquiring we decided that we wanted to stick to a long trusted W & D line so we chose this washing mashing and matching dryer. From day one I decided I did not care for it. I found if I put too many clothes in that they did not come out clean. Any dark pants would come out with what looked to be soap or softener stains and would have to rewash 1 or 2 times. Now I can only put in about 4 pairs of pants to wash. I have been cleaning it once a month as the manual says to do but yesterday I noticed a terrible odor coming for the washer. I could smell it out in the hall. I did the cleaning again but still smell it. Now after searching the internet I find a video that shows the problem is mold under the drum. No amount of Affresh or bleach is going to clean something UNDER the drum. It is not my job to have to take this apart every few months and clean out mold and moldy water. Sounds like this problem has been going on for a few years and this should have been fixed long before this. I wish I had my old faithful washer and dryer back. Maybe I should have stuck to the Samsung washer and dryer.

Both Sears and Maytag have lost my business FOR GOOD! We purchased a Maytag Bravo XL # MGDB980W0 2 years ago. We called within the 1 year warranty period via Sears, they sent a tech out then charged us. The dryer kept shutting off before clothes were dry. We thought the problem resolved, then reoccurred after the 1 yr period. Neither Sears or Maytag would stand behind the product citing it has been discontinued due to problems. Well... yeah, no kidding. We paid BGE energy efficiency company to come out and evaluate it. They tweaked the exhaust vent and cleaned out the duct, however, they said we needed a new sensor. My wife bought a new sensor, installed it, and the dryer still wont work right! (Shutting off prior to clothes being dry). BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT: I researched and bought a new gas LG dryer on sale at Home Depot and shelled out $849 unnecessarily thanks to shoddy product and lack of company integrity. No luck.Maytag got very concerned when I explained about the noxious fumes and had someone come out right away. Tech took it apart. He removed bottom (screwed in) plate that covers the bottom heating element. That plate gives the added ability to have 3 racks and make full use of the 6.3 cubic ft. capacity. Under the plate we found bits of insulation. We think that is what we smelt as it burnt up. He couldnt smell anything when he had it up to 400. So off he went thinking problem solved. Well, it still stinks. We will have Home Depot take it back. Oven takes forever to come to temp which we read in many complaints but thought thats minor. Dont know what oven to get instead since Whirlpool makes so many brand names. And other brands all seem to have their own problems.

I am 86 years old and have happily owned Maytag washers for many years. I just recently purchased the front loading model for ease of access. After using it for sometime, I could not be more disappointed. The clothes come out smelly, stained and gray. I tried using affresh washer cleaner on hot setting and the tablet did not even dissolve. There is black mold growing and must be cleaned constantly. I am so sad that my favorite company has let us down. I cannot afford to buy another washer so I am stuck with this lemon!

My wife & I purchased our Maytag dishwasher model # MDBH979SAB1 on 3/8/
My wife & I purchased our Maytag dishwasher model # MDBH979SAB1 on 3/8/13 from homedepot.com. Approximately 24.5 months later our dishwasher experienced control panel light button malfunctions similar in description to the many other consumer complaints on this & other forums. I would like to share some additional information based on my research about this issue and possible fix. The source of Whirlpools control panel issue is design related. The issue is caused from moisture which induces oxidation on the Flexible Printed Circuit (FPC) cable that is integrated with the control panel and connects via connector to the electronic control box. The issue usually manifests itself on the cable just where it bends coming out of the touch membrane panel. The oxidization of the FPC cable eventually creates electronic shorts or opens between the parallel traces thus causing the panel control lighted function problem which disables the dishwasher from being used. The cable, since integrated with the control panel, is not a separate replaceable part. In order to repair, the Whirlpool diagnostic action is to replace the entire control panel. I quickly learned after doing some online research about Whirlpools control panel issue that it extends back to at least 2011 with control panel part # W10475784 and corresponding or like PNs of this design. The number of control panels sold of this design by various online appliance part centers coincide with the high number of reported like control panel failures. In just 2015 alone so far, the sales for this control panel have been in the hundreds. This indicates that Whirlpool continues to replace defectively designed control panels upon failure with defectively designed control panels. There was also a class action lawsuit filed against Whirlpool in the state of California on May 6th, 2013 for the control panel issue. The filed lawsuit is public & the whole document is available online as a pdf file. Unfortunately, Judge **, granted Stipulation to Dismiss Case with prejudice 74 on 5/23/14. I was unable to find out any details as to why the case was dismissed. I did not call Whirlpool about my control panel issue, instead I handled all correspondence through Email to them at WHIRLPOOL_CUSTOMEREXPERIENCE@WHIRLPOOL. COM.My initial correspondence included all the facts about this issue & that I did not wish to have their warranty coverage/period explained to me for I understood them, the problem was a quality issue, and just basically wanted to know what they were going to do or have been doing about resolution. The email correspondence with them got me nowhere. They initially replied back with all the form niceties like We apologize, We understand your frustration, & We value you as a customer, but denied every knowing about such control panel issue, regurgitated their warranty policy & period and were unwilling to resolve anything. In their last reply they stated how unfortunate it was that customers only take the time to provide negative feedback!! This is just bad business, and though I would not like to think it, but the control panel issue may have been by marketing design. Please keep in mind that Whirlpool manufactures appliances under at least 15 different name brands including Maytag, Kenmore, Admiral Kirkland, KitchenAid, Roper, Speed Queen to name a few. All is not lost, being an electronics engineer I looked into the do it yourself fix. If you are not comfortable in doing this, you may be able to find someone to help. I was able to repair mine by carefully scraping off the oxidation from the FPC cable (will appear brown in color) & encapsulating it with high density 100% dampening silicon (non-caulk type) to protect it from moisture & withstand heat. There can be other ways of protecting it from moisture instead of silicon, just make sure it can withstand heat, wont become brittle, & that it may not cause potential damage to the cable itself. My repair has worked for about 4 weeks now, & shows no sign of oxidizing. The problem may be more severe if the oxidation has actually opened or broke one or more of the small cable traces. Do not attempt to solder this cable! Its way too thin & will only make matters worse. An open can be carefully bridged with a conductive glue or ink thats on the market. One source is a window defogger repair kit product thats sold at auto stores that has a conductive glue in it. Post open repairs will need to be checked with an ohm meter to make sure repair is good and that any adjacent trace lines have not been shorted by repair. Of those of you that have just bought or had installed Whirlpools defective control panel, please encapsulate the FPC cable as soon as possible to protect it from moisture. If you dont, it will surely oxidize again over time.

Unbeknownst to us, our Maytag Refrigerators (MFD2561KES) ice maker developed a problem with the fill hose which connects to the back of the refrigerator, causing it to pop off. The hose had been leaking water onto our wood floor causing all of the boards under the refrigerator and 6 feet in front to buckle. I cannot see why Maytag did not use a compression fitting instead of using a squeeze type hose clamp. Plus the ice maker has left a large sheet inside the freezer on the bottom. I use the ice maker daily to fill my cooler for work.We also have a Maytag Dishwasher which has a push button panel in front which has decided to give out as well. Not to mention our Maytag Double Oven which has never been able to close properly since we have had it. (The service man said that there is nothing wrong with it). We bought our house 7 years ago and my wife wanted nothing but Maytag because of our experience in the past. I gave up buying american automobiles years ago and I guess the same will happen when I replace these appliances (after I finish paying for my new floor).

I have had this refrigerator for a few years and never have had a problem. It keeps food uniformly cold, and is frost free. While appearance is attractive, it doesnt look like a $3,000 refrigerator. However, black pebbled-surface exterior is easy to clean and scratch-resistant. Plastic and glass interior fittings also have held up very well. I originally thought it would be too small because I was buying it to fit a certain space in the kitchen. But it has turned out to be just the right size because there is no wasted space inside. I bought this at Home Depot on sale for about $400.00 and it has turned out to be an excellent buy. Delivery was on time, efficient, and people were polite and helpful. Refrigerator was ready to be used about 15 minutes after delivery arrived. I have found Maytag appliances to be extremely reliable and made to last. They have never disappointed me. I will continue to buy them. I highly recommend it.

I purchased the Maytag MDB7749SBM dishwasher just over 2 years ago. After owning for 1.5 years, the control board malfunctioned. After discussions with Maytag customer service that began in late December 2014, it was finally repaired in February 2015, with the control board being completely replaced. Within just a few months the dishwasher again fails. The first time, it would not stop running. This time, it will not run at all. I called customer service today (August 1, 2015) and they expect me to pay for the repair. It is easy to Google and find multiple review sites that indicate hundreds of consumers have similar problems, but Maytag will not acknowledge any issue, as the customer service rep indicated today (she said her information showed no recalls). Within two years I am now faced with paying $600+ for a dishwasher for a second time. This is terrible customer service on Maytags part. They have lost my business and I am warning consumers on every platform I have.

Purchased this dishwasher about 1 1/2 yrs ago. Luckily the first two times the control panel went out, it was still under warranty (within the first year). Now its gone out again! This is the third time! What happens is all the buttons will work except for the START and CANCEL. This has been the same issue every time. I tried restarting it, made sure there was not a leak that somehow was getting to the internal electrical components in the panel. I actually know the Maytag repairman by name. Its nothing like those old commercials where the Maytag repairman sits around and has all the time in the world because their products never break. Those days are over and these guys are busy working to fix these devices they label as dishwashers. Since my warranty is now expired, it was an unexpected $96 service call to tell me what I already knew - Its your panel again sir, it needs to be replaced. Well have to order one for you and itll be $265 for parts and labor plus the $96 service call = $361 repair for something that will likely break again in a few months. Never am I buying a Maytag product again.

I purchased a Maytag Bravos Quiet Series washer and dryer in 2009. The repair people have been to my house 7 times. The dryer had a useless part on the drum that made a banging noise while running. The washer keeps getting coins and small undergarments stuck in the motor. Every now and then, one of us leaves a coin in the pocket by mistake. I did purchase the extended warranty on the set. The repairperson that comes to my house is great. I would, however, not want to have to keep leaving work to meet repairmen. The machines are not quiet. If you need quiet from your appliances, this is not the set for you. If you do not clean the washer with Affresh or Clorox product, your clothes and your room smells. The clothes are always so tangled after washing; they tend to wear out quickly. Im not sure about this high efficiency washer. I wish I had just purchased a regular machine.

We purchased a Maytag Washer and Dryer from The Home Depot in September of 2017. We did not purchase the extended warranty because of our confidence in the brand. Within less than a year, both appliances started making noises. By September of 2018, the washer sounded like it had a bag of mice squeaking inside every time we ran a load and had stopped spinning entirely. I called and spoke to a very kind lady who assured me that even if we were outside the one year manufacturers warranty, they would offer us the extended warranty without question because it was so close to the one year purchase. She took my credit card, we were charged for a five year plan and service was scheduled. After service, both units were still louder than I would prefer but the technician said it was common. Over the last few months, both have become louder and louder. Now the dryer shuts off and wont stay on. When I called back to schedule service again, the date of our purchase was all of a sudden in question. (I applied for the contract over the phone so THEIR rep entered the purchase date.) They are now telling us they will only honor the cost of parts and we are subject to pay for diagnostics and labor (which is the largest cost of repair). They are telling us our contract has to be cancelled and AFTER we receive and PAY FOR all but the parts, we can call and pay for a NEW contract. This has been the WORST appliance purchase we have EVER made and we have lost all confidence in the quality of Maytag/Whirlpool appliances. Both units have been VERY disappointing and we spent over $700 on each unit. NEVER AGAIN.

I purchased a floor model Maytag Dishwasher from Abt electronics about a year and a half ago. 2 months ago, various light started flashing. Somehow I managed to get it going. Some blogs reported it might be a drainage problem. Others suggested pressing a certain sequence of buttons. After Each time I got it to work, it became harder the next. I bought Maytag because my old dishwasher lasted 13 years. What is interesting is that a company whose name Ive forgotten sent me bimonthly requests to purchase a warranty from them. Now they have stopped. I am a single mom of 3 with an unemployed ex. I work and support my family without any assistance. I count every penny. I cannot afford repairs nor a replacement now or any time soon. This is a travesty. My door says 10-year limited warranty and the delineates stainless steel tub and racks and chopper blade, but not the panel. I do not understand how Maytags denial of the problem and their unwillingness to correct the problem can improve their image. I will never purchase from Maytag or its associated companies ever again. What a scam! To be honest though, I have not contacted the company since it is not under warranty and all the blogs have relayed the same message: Maytag denies there is a problem.

Clouds of smoke were billowing out of the top of the machine. Our house will filling up with washing machine smoke! My husband stopped it, but I think it was a gnats hair close to bursting into flames. He looked into the front of the machine when the smoke dissipated and the entire gasket was in shreds. We bought the washer less than a year ago. The washer became off balance with an average load of jeans. The washer shook so violently that it cut our floor, busted our wall, and broke itself. Water covered our floor! We have now been over a month with no washing machine (still paying on it, by the way). We have had to pay to get our clothes washed in the last month = EXPENSIVE! The repair company has been out to our home twice, broken high-quality tools trying to repair the machine, and told by their higher-ups that the washer can still be repaired. I purchased a Maytag dish washer (not even 2 years old yet). I bought it on 8/29/10 and I paid over $400.00 for it brand new. The model number is MDBH949AWW1 and the serial number is F03422327. I am only asking for the part (motherboard). I have lots of friends and associates at church, work and social that I have talked to about this Maytag. And I would like to give a good report about the company and what they make and that they stand behind their workmanship. I know for a fact that they have 22 motherboards on hand ready to go out and what I have read online is that many people are having the same problem. I need a motherboard. I believe this unit should easily last over 10 years, so I am not asking for much. I will have it installed myself. I just need the part. I trust that you are a reputable company that has been around for many years and Whirlpool has taken new ownership and they have been around for a long time, too! My own parents owned one for over 30 years. This is all that I would request. I’m thanking you in advance.

Two years ago I bought a matched set of Maytag Neptune washer and dryer. Although I bought really liked the front loading and large capacity, I bought them because they were Maytags. I remember my parents grumbling that they couldnt afford a decent washer or dryer like Maytag and had to settle for Kenmore or some other brand that they figured was inferior. I noticed that they struggled through 20-25 years of maintenance free use of their inferior appliances. So when I found a pair of Maytag, I thought I had finally arrived. I was 60 years old and I knew this would be the last washer and dryer I would ever have to buy.It is now 2 years later and we developed dryer problems. The repairman found the computer malfunctioning and suggested it would be cheaper to replace than to repair. We asked him to check the washer while he was here and his diagnosis was similar. The drum bearings were gone and probably too expensive to repair. The Maytags are now in some scrap yard and I now have an inferior washer and dryer and I am looking forward to many years of maintenance free struggles. I used to think that Maytag repairmen are the loneliest people because their machines were reliable. I now know that they are lonely because all of the Maytags are garbage and not worth fixing.

We just had the same problem as most of you have posted. The control panel malfunction. Model MDB7749SBM. Our issue started after only 18 months when the dishwasher would start on its own and/or cancel a wash on its own. I think this is a major issue if a home appliance can start on its own from the off position and run through multiple cycles. I think this could be dangerous if you are out of town. Our cost to replace the panel was more than 1/2 of the original purchase price. This is a major defect and should be handled by Maytag if they are a company with any integrity.

Im furious beyond belief with Maytag. Im furious at myself for being stupid
Im furious beyond belief with Maytag. Im furious at myself for being stupid enough to purchase all new Maytag appliances when I purchased this home as I had horrible experiences with them in my former home. This concerns the Maytag over the range microwave oven model MMV4205AA. First of all, within 6 or 7 months after purchasing it while cooking a frozen dinner, the turntable just cracked in half. Maytag wanted $89 to replace it. I knew when the turntable cracked that there were more issues to come. That is not normal in any way for that to occur in a microwave.Problems continued, of course, and with each call to Maytag, they would say the same thing the microwave is out of warranty and refused to assist me. Its not some little table top thing that one can just toss out and buy a new one. I paid about $400 for it from Home Depot. Last week, without it even being turned on, it just stopped working. I checked the electrical supply and conduit to make sure that was okay. I called numerous service organizations who told me this sudden breakdown when the microwave isnt even turned on is a known issue with this model and several other Maytag over the range models. Ive called them (Maytag) three times in the last week and they refuse to provide any allowance and hear the same old thing, the microwave is out of warranty. I was willing to have them even just provide some assistance rather than replace the microwave. Ive been told by numerous service organizations that this is a known issue and that even if they repair it, it will occur again and again and Im best off purchasing a different brand, which I cannot afford. They gave me phone numbers for service organizations authorized to service Maytag products and this just goes to show how out of touch they are. They gave me one that isnt even in business anymore. How professional, not!Warning: Purchase Maytag at your own risk. I give you fair warning. Every single Maytag product Ive ever owned has been a problem. I will never, ever, ever purchase another Maytag product again. I would think just out of decent customer relations, that theyd repair this issue. To be honest, I dont really trust a repair as Ive been told it will happen again and again. There was no notice that the microwave was breaking down either. It wasnt turned on. One day, I went to use it and it just wouldnt work. Actually, I went to use the timer on it and thats how I found out it was dust. My advice is stay away from Maytag. If you read reports, there are more complaints on Maytag than any other appliance manufacturer in existence. Not only on their products, but their customer service too.

Maytag Commercial # MVWB765FW0: My husband and I wanted to get rid of our GE front load. It was horrible. Even constant cleaning and leaving the door open all the time, our clothes still smelled like mildew and musty. My hubby wanted an LG and I said no way. As a little girl my mom had an old wringer washer and her first electric washer was a Maytag in the late 50s. She passed away in 2001 and in her lifetime she had 2 electric washing machines both were Maytags. They were so dependable and built to last so naturally I wanted a Maytag. Wrong! I am so disappointed. We purchased it in Sept of 2017 for $695. I was so excited the first time we used it. It was a little noisy, but living in the county and having a well we were glad it was an energy/water saver. The first couple of months it was so refreshing to have clothes that did not smell musty and mildewy. I noticed they were really wrinkled but I still iron anyway so it was not a big deal. However ironing over and over again on some items did not get rid of the wrinkles and the past 2 months I have been going thru lint rollers like crazy and it still does not come off. I have to use a slightly damp lint brush or go over the clothing with packing tape to get the lint off. It is horrible! I dont want my GE back but I dont want this one either! I wish I would have read reviews first and listened to my hubby. I wont ever have another Maytag and when this one goes I will certainly read reviews and go with something more dependable. Unfortunately for now we have wasted the money and it is ruining our clothes! I agree that we should all do the class action. There are just too many of us experiencing the same issues. Maytag should do right by the consumer! We have learned our lesson, review before you buy!

It was several months later before it was installed. First time I tried to use the top oven, it would heat to set temp (I assume) and then shut down. The larger bottom oven had erratic heating. I tried adjusting oven temps but it was a guessing game. We had Fix-Rite Corp out twice and they were puzzled by the problem. Two times, they replaced the control panel. After the second repair, it was decided the only thing to fix the kitchen was a complete gutting, new cabinets and floor. The oven was pulled out before I had a chance to use it again. By the time we got the kitchen finished and range reinstalled, I discovered the oven still had the same problems and the broiler would ignite sometimes and when it did, the flame would go out after 30 to 60 seconds and would not come back on. By this time, we were past the one-year warranty. After the first repair did not work, I tried to get Lowes to take it back and assured them I would purchase another range from them. They said they could not do that. Now I can see Im going to end up buying another range. Be assured it wont be Maytag and it wont be Lowes. I also own and use Maytag washer and dryer.

Had it for over ten years, had no problems. We dont use the oven too often but it is simple to operate and has served us well. Easy to clean, stainless steel like looks on the front goes well with our other appliances. Reasonably priced too.

First Maytag washer we bought in 2003, worked flawlessly for 14 years, bought a new one in 2017 only because my wife wanted a bigger washer. Bought a Maytag top load MVWB765FW0. What a big mistake. In less than 3 years it has failed already. The water inlet valve went bad. Maytag offers no tech support because they want to charge you with a service call. I found out what was wrong by researching the problem and error code online and bought the part for $55.00 and fixed myself instead of them charging $100.00 just to show up at your door plus the part and labor. A washer failing in less than 3 years is totally unacceptable and I will never purchase another Maytag/Whirlpool product ever again. Someone needs to wake up at Maytag.

I bought a Maytag Bravos top loader washer and dryer less than 2 years ago.
I bought a Maytag Bravos top loader washer and dryer less than 2 years ago. I started having problems with my dryer 3 months ago and after several service calls (and a few hundred dollars), it still does not dry our clothes. I spent over $1500 for the pair and was excited to have a top end washer and dryer. My biggest complaint is with the manufacturer, Maytag - they just dont seem to care. I did not buy the extended warranty for two reasons. First, I bought a nice unit and expect it to work properly for a reasonable amount of time (at least 4-5 years without any problems). Second, they are just a bad purchase and they cost about half of the unit and if you buy a nice unit, you shouldnt need one. I could have bought a new dryer for what I spent to try and have this one work properly. My wife and I spent $600 for our last set which lasted 7 years without a problem; they were manufactured by GE, which I now wish I would have bought another GE. My wife talked me into buying a new pair to accommodate the needs of our growing family. I wished I would have kept the GE pair that was working.I would not recommend any Maytag appliance: they really just dont care to provide any reasonable service to stand behind their products. What a shame. This reminds me of why many foreign manufacturers are beating us at what we used to do best - make products that last and work! The washer and dryer look nice and have many great features, but these dont matter much if they dont work.
