My Maytag refrigerator was purchased from Home Depot less than 3 years ago.
My Maytag refrigerator was purchased from Home Depot less than 3 years ago. It is a French door, bottom freezer draw model #MFI2569VEA1. Every four days, there is a huge puddle of water at the base of the unit and it is starting to ruin my ceramic tiles. I tried the online video solutions to no avail. Home Depot wont repair it, they told me to contact Maytag. Maytag wants me to purchase a $375 warranty, which is 30% of what I paid for the refrigerator. I will never buy a Maytag refrigerator again, or any Maytag product for that matter. They once stood for solid reliability and peace of mind, now you get a piece of junk instead. I cant even sell it on Craigslist if I wanted to because who would want it? If a class action suit is ever initiated, Ill be on board. I hope Consumer Affairs contacts me.

I will never buy another Maytag appliance. We built our home in 2005 and bought brand new Maytag kitchen appliances (refrigerator, gas oven/stovetop, dishwasher, and hood microwave). In seven years, we have had problem after problem with all four appliances. We had to replace the compressor in the refrigerator in the first 18 months and then the fan in the refrigerator about a year ago. We have had to replace the heating unit in the oven twice and the handle has broken off of the oven door twice. We have had to replace the handle latch on the dishwasher once and today, the microwave stopped working. We are not rough on our appliances (especially the microwave as we rarely use it), so I think the fact that every single Maytag appliance has broken down one to three times in different capacities in the last seven years says it all. We have had a very poor experience with this brand and will definitely never buy another Maytag appliance.

First of all, Whirlpool owns the Maytag brand. Ive seen a few reviewers on here say I will never buy Maytag! Im buying Whirlpool from now on! I picture the executives smiling and nodding, Good. Maytag used to be great - machines lasted 20 years or more. Now they last about three. After one year, the paint on the washer was bubbling and coming off, and now its starting to rust. The warranty doesnt cover cosmetic defects beyond 30 days, and the warranty for the rest of the machine is only one year. Theres a reason for that - the machine will undoubtedly have problems after that. Multiple calls to Maytag/Whirlpool and they do not care. Terrible product, terrible customer service. I tell everyone I know never to buy Maytag or Whirlpool.

We purchased this double-oven range (model: MGT8775XW01) about 5-6 years ago. It came with some slight bubbling on the plate that the control knobs go through/are mounted onto. A few years later, the bubbling paint began to chip/peel off - revealing rust (its a white range). I bought some touch-up paint, but that didnt look very good. Now that entire plate is bubbling and peeling and makes the whole range look like crap. My wife swears well never buy another Maytag product...EVER! Shes ripped! I cant seem to find the replacement part to purchase. Lousy products!

My front load Kenmore just fell apart. I guess Im lucky I have had it for 8 years and now its broke. I could fix it but thought it would be better to get a new one. I looked at all the reviews for front load washer and could not find one that had positive reviews. So I went with a top load. After reading all the complaints I might have made a mistake, but its too late now as it was delivered yesterday and now doing the clean cycle. Oh my…what junk they all produce now - a true throwaway society. My refrigerator is still working after 24 years what a gem of a product. Happy days.

I purchased my Maytag Centennial 1 and 6 mos ago and it is already broken. The washer wont wash the clothes, just sit in the water and wont spin. I called Maytag, they offered me a warranty for another year for $371. The washer was only $550.00. When I tried to get set up with a repair service, the only company they used which was going to charge $105 just to look at it, would only take cash. When I called back to discuss with Maytag, they were no help at all. I was told they wouldnt even do the warranty since I scheduled a service even though I canceled it. I will never buy Maytag again.

We purchased a Maytag 4.2-cu ft High Efficiency Top Load Washer from Lowes. The pump went out within 6 weeks of purchase. Maytag could not get a technician to come to our area to fix the washer. They finally told me they would give me $150.00 for labor if I found someone to fix it. We ended up taking it to a Maytag certified repair shop. It cost us a $99.00 service fee. They ordered a new pump from Maytag, part cost 137.46. I called to get a reimbursement from Maytag and they denied my claim. Their reason I was told was because I didnt call the part in myself. I dont understand why they didnt even reimburse the $99.00. The washer was a lemon and Maytag did not honor their offer, nor the warranty. Very time consuming and bad experience.

This is a top load washer, commercial series, high efficiency without any agitator. It doesnt use enough water to break down the soap, no matter what soap or amount is used. Clothes come out of the machine with soap patches. It is also virtually impossible to balance the load so when it spins, it bangs and thumps and walks across the room until it shuts itself down. Stirring and re-distributing the load, changing the size of the load, small or large (should you actually fill the tub to a full load per instructions) it simply doesnt distribute or balance itself at all. At the end of the day, clothes need more water for extra rinse and then doesnt seem to work with soap removal all of the time. You cant put a load in and walk away and do something else or it will bang around and turn off. A waste of money and time. Save yourself, buy something else.

I spoke with Mike today at the customer service department at Maytag to see if Maytag would pay for the parts to repair my 04/2010 Maytag front load washer (model MHWE450WW00). The bearing assembly needs to be replaced. So, that means the tub and basket need to be replaced too. The original cost in 04/2010 was $1,088 plus tax. The cost to repair is $1,048. Maytag will do nothing since it was purchased over 12 months ago. I cant believe I just threw almost $1100 away on a washer. Obviously, there is something wrong when an appliance doesnt work after 1.5 years.

I purchased my first and last Maytag double door bottom freezer in Aug 2018. The ice maker shoots ice out all over the floor, only half make it into the glass. It also sounds as though ice is falling down inside door. I had the ice maker replaced twice, the gasket as well, the back removed to check for water line blockage NO avail. Before the first ice maker replacement it sounded like a freight train. I questioned whether I had received a store second from Home Depot or a return as the stickers inside had been removed but HD couldn’t assist and Maytag didn’t care. Definitely NOT worth the 2000 I paid.

After researching the top-rated washing machine in consumer reports, we decided to spend the extra cash ($930) and buy the top-rated machine. Spending almost double on a high end machine, you would expect this machine to last longer than three years. The motherboard needs to be replaced because it gets stuck on a UL code near the end of the cycle. Now, we have had two people come try to fix it, and they said to trash it and buy a new one. Only three years! If I had paid $300, I wouldnt be so upset, but that was a total waste of money for it to last less than any machine Ive ever had. How is a consumer supposed to know what a good washing machine is if they spend extra cash for the top-rated machine and that one is still bad? The company should replace something like a motherboard that goes faulty when it had nothing to do with use. So unfair and frustrating.

My experience is very similar to Richards below. I have an MDBH979AWS3 that was purchased new in April of 2010. Just over one month after my warranty expired, the touch panel ceased to work. Since it was no longer in warranty, I had to replace it out of pocket. The wiring harness to the old panel looked heat damaged. Last winter, the central computer died. The machine was useless. I called Maytag customer service and actually seemed to find a sympathetic ear. They agreed to a new part if I paid $129 for one of the two companies doing certified repair to install it. During the summer, it blew several fuses. Then in late November of this year, the touch panel went again. I hesitated on how to respond and waited until after the holidays to call them. I got the most rude customer service rep that Ive dealt with in a long time. Somehow, I was blamed for a misdiagnosis on the computer panel (duh, no, that was a different issue and it was indeed broken), accused of misuse of the dishwasher, and flatly told that they werent going to do anything more on a machine. So far, out of warranty. Im sorry, but I cant accept that a machine under 3 years old should have 3 major failures. Maytag has to step up and at least look at this problem. From what Ive read, this is a common problem that has resulted in several fires. Maytag has to know about this and continues to do nothing, not even issue a recall on the current touch panel used. I am now faced with putting another $100 in (which puts me at about $350 total on a machine I paid almost $500 for) or just buy a new product. Rest assured I will never buy another Maytag-Whirlpool appliance.

Our Maytag dishwasher was just past the 1-year mark when the control panel stopped working. A certified Maytag repair service came out to diagnose just that and charged us $89. Maytag sent the user interface out to us, and my husband noted that there was absolutely no way that the part could be installed wrong. The wires could only go one way. The repair service (DSM Appliance Service) wanted another $120 to install it. We installed it, and it still doesnt work. Maytag will no longer assist us in any way. I will never buy a Maytag or Whirlpool appliance again. After investigating, I see that this control panel issue has happened many, many times; and I wonder why there hasnt been something done about it.

I purchased a Maytag gas range in the past few weeks with Aqua Lift Cleaning System. I have only cooked once when grease spattered on the walls and floor of the oven. I have used the Aqua Lift Cleaning System 5 (five!) times and the grease is still there and very sticky. This system clearly does not do what it was supposed to do. I was fortunate to have bought the appliance where I could return it; however, it has been quite a hassle and I will have to pay an additional $100 to have the old one removed and the new one installed! I feel like Maytag should reimburse me the $100 because it is obvious to me now that I have found hundreds of reports of people not being satisfied with this feature.

I bought this Maytag MCT washer and dryer set brand new from Lowes October
I bought this Maytag MCT washer and dryer set brand new from Lowes October 31st, 2016. When I washed the first load it made so much noise I thought it was broken. Called Lowes and they said it is just noisier than the older ones. This is the water/load sensing model, supposed to be great. I am usually here by myself, so at most I wash one load of clothes a week. I have a queen size mattress pad in there washing right now. This pad fills up the drum pretty much, I have it on deep water but that only gives me maybe 1/4 of the drum that has water in it. The pad is wet from wicking, NOT from the water covering it. How is this supposed to clean anything when the water is not covering the items? When it spins out, it gets off balance easily. The manual says to not worry about balancing load as you put it in there, but doesnt make any sense to just cram on one side as the water isnt going to float the cloth around to balance. The settings for Bulky does nothing more than the setting for Deep Water, you still do not get enough water to wash your clothes. It also does not do any good to add fabric softener to the machine, as it seems to just take it all out, you cannot smell any fabric softener on your laundry when you are transferring it to the dryer. And the laundry when dry isnt soft like it was with the old machines. I will be 62 in December 2017. My parents always had Maytags, never a problem. This is the 4th set of Maytags I have had. And bought a set for my daughter in 2013 also. And this by far is the worst. Their quality is completely gone now. Nothing but cheap made products that are predestined to fail. Friend across the street said she had looked at this set when she was in market to get a new set. She has an friend who works on appliances and who works for stores selling these models and he told her, they were not worth buying. Wish I had known that. Do not waste your money.

We bought the Maytag 2000 series washer and dryer stackable set in 2012 from Home Depot. My husband was smart enough to buy an extended warranty and year after year we renewed it. Guess what?? Year after year the dang washer broke. This machine was a nightmare! Now that the drum spider is broken they will not honor our warranty but want to give us $300 and guess what? I cant find a replacement for my good working dryer. We bought this set because we live in tiny space and needed them stacked. Maytag really put us in a corner and we have no money to replace both appliances. Horrible customer service. Horrible machines. Just a horrible situation. We dont know what to do.

We purchased a Maytag Washer and Dryer from The Home Depot in September of 2017. We did not purchase the extended warranty because of our confidence in the brand. Within less than a year, both appliances started making noises. By September of 2018, the washer sounded like it had a bag of mice squeaking inside every time we ran a load and had stopped spinning entirely. I called and spoke to a very kind lady who assured me that even if we were outside the one year manufacturers warranty, they would offer us the extended warranty without question because it was so close to the one year purchase. She took my credit card, we were charged for a five year plan and service was scheduled. After service, both units were still louder than I would prefer but the technician said it was common. Over the last few months, both have become louder and louder. Now the dryer shuts off and wont stay on. When I called back to schedule service again, the date of our purchase was all of a sudden in question. (I applied for the contract over the phone so THEIR rep entered the purchase date.) They are now telling us they will only honor the cost of parts and we are subject to pay for diagnostics and labor (which is the largest cost of repair). They are telling us our contract has to be cancelled and AFTER we receive and PAY FOR all but the parts, we can call and pay for a NEW contract. This has been the WORST appliance purchase we have EVER made and we have lost all confidence in the quality of Maytag/Whirlpool appliances. Both units have been VERY disappointing and we spent over $700 on each unit. NEVER AGAIN.

Had a Maytag Dishwasher that was recalled in 2007 model # DWU9962AAE. I was sent a notice of recall and when I contacted the Maytag staff in the Recall department said that they were sending out a replacement as the unit. Mine was being recalled due to defects in the heater element, which could cause electrical failure and fire. I was pleased they were offering to replace the unit, and within a week or so, a new unit was delivered. This is where the troubles began... the delivery/install person from a local retailer, complained the entire time about having to do this job, was ill-equipped to perform the install, twice he thought he would have to stop as he did not have the correct tools he shared with me. I felt this was odd, if this is the job he did all the time? I asked for a bill of sale or something that would show that this unit had a warranty, and date of install. I was told that in these cases, the local retailer that is contracted to install takes care of all that. I did get the Dishwasher use and care guide, and it seemed like new unit. I had never had a recalled unit of a major appliance. Also since Maytag had my address, phone and email information as they set the install up. I believed the installer. Fast forward to about 2009 and the control panel on the door starts to lose cycles. I decided that since it was just me using the unit and the cycles I used most worked I would not bother with the repair.Fast forward to late October of this year 2015. The dishwasher Maytag model # MDB9601AWW finally does not turn on any longer... I call Sears to have an estimate for repair of the circuit board in the door. I give Sears the model and serial number... and schedule an appointment. The repairman gives me a cost of roughly $600 to replace the circuit board in the door! I tell him no thanks pay $ 59.00 and decide I will buy a new unit... I review many sources such as consumer reports, where it becomes evident that Maytag as a brand is not very reliable. At that point I decide to call Maytag and speak to them about my issues. Two dishwashers in very short order have issues. Also my new unit only had a one year warranty. So much to my surprise when I called Maytag I was informed they did not have any records of my contact information at my current address..? And worse there was a recall on my current dishwasher back in 2010! I was never informed of this, and had used a potentially hazardous appliance for 5 years with no knowledge of this! How could that be though since I was given my current unit by them in 2007. I was very unhappy at this point.... but my disappointment with Maytag was about to deepen.I was also not happy with Sears Home Repair.... They are informed about all product recalls, and had my model and serial number. When those were entered into their computers when I made the appointment and again when the repairman came out and captured that information on my dishwasher himself that should have alerted him to the recall. Not an opportunity to sell me a $ 600 repair that did not even address the defect for the which the recall was issued. So I am now routed to the Maytag recall department.... where all they offer me is a $ 150 coupon for an expensive Maytag dishwasher? So after explaining my situation... and asking the woman I was on the phone with If she would invest $400 or 500 more dollars in Maytag dishwashers, given my experience with 3 failures of their products in two separate units that were not that old? She said she understood. She arranged for her manager Carol to call me the next day at 9:00 am PST. The call never came, and two hours later when I called in they tried to tell me it would be another 24-48 hours before she could return my call? I was now very unhappy. I asked to speak with her supervisor Tim. He too was unavailable, finally after a very long time waiting on hold. I was connected with Amber. I explained again my issues and told Amber that I would like another Maytag Dishwasher to be offered to me..... as this was a very unique set of circumstances... She was willing to let me write letters like this and contact the Consumer Products Safety Commission and lodge a complaint. I am waiting to be contacted by the manager that handles recalls from Maytag. She alleged that they CPSC does not allow the Mfg to assign specific compensation to individuals. That is true....when they are only subject to one failure as part of the recall.... according to the woman I spoke with at the CPSC. However I had not only that complaint; but the circuit board issue and as goodwill gesture to any consumer they (CPSC) have no jurisdiction.... and Maytag could do as they wish. However I doubt anyone but Amber a low level manager, who took it upon herself to make this decision on her own, without even punting to her boss Tim when I shared my story. I just this last weekend bought a new Bosch dishwasher.... and would caution anyone who was considering the purchase of any Maytag appliance of any kind to use my experience as a cautionary tale.

Do not buy a Maytag dishwasher with model # MDBH969AWB1. I bought this dish
Do not buy a Maytag dishwasher with model # MDBH969AWB1. I bought this dishwasher last Dec. 2010. I could not use it for 2 weeks, because the door would not shut. The repair man came & fixed the door. Then when I actually got to use it and after it finished running the cycle, the tub was dripping with water all over--top, sides, door, bottom. I had to dry the dishes on the top rack, and I had to leave the door open for days in order for the inside to eventually get dry. The first thing I noticed about this dishwasher when it was installed was that it was smaller than my other dishwasher. I hate the design because of the way they have made the racks plus because it is smaller--it holds less dishes than my old one did. I could actually get almost twice as many dishes in my old one than I can with this one. Do they not think of asking the consumer about what they want in a dishwasher instead of going ahead and making something that is not functional?I am so frustrated with this thing; it has brought me to tears. I just today went to Sears and looked at their Kenmore dishwasher. It is designed more like my old one than any of the other makes out today. I wish I had checked this out, before I bought this Maytag. Weve always heard how Maytag is at the top of the line with no problems, right? Dont believe it. I will never buy another one. Whoever is designing these dishwashers need to go back to 1990 and take a look at how it was designed and then go back to making them like that. I loved my older dishwasher, and I wish I had never let them take it away. I wish I had taken the money I spent on this ridiculous Maytag and had my old one fixed no matter what the cost. I made a terrible mistake. If you have an older dishwasher and it has given you good service for years, I suggest you have it fixed and keep it, because you will not like the performance of what they are selling today. It does not matter what brand you buy, they are all designed the same. Just take a look and compare them. But if you buy, please check out the Kenmore. I dont know if the performance is better, but the racks are better designed. My old dishwasher was a Hotpoint. It was the cheapest one on the market, and it gave me the most wonderful service ever. The dishes were always very clean, the heating element was fantastic, and it always dried the dishes completely. I cant believe they would make a product like they do today and sell them for what they do. The heating element in them today is not as good or strong as what they used to make. That is why the dishes wont dry properly. You get way less than what you pay for. Thinking a new dishwasher is the way to go, think again. Please, if at all possible, keep your old one and have it fixed over & over again. I hate this dishwasher. What a joke on the unsuspecting buyer.

Bravos XL MCT model#MVWB835DW. Bought this new. After 2 weeks called Maytag. Washing machine did not work. I called off and on for 7 months to Maytag customer service. During this time they tried to do troubleshooting over the phone. Sent technician out. He said that there was problems with this model, that they were working on updates and would get back to me. 10 months after installation, technician came out. Washing machine worked, but still took 2 to 3 hours to wash one load of clothes. Started calling Maytag again. Washer now take 3 to 5 hours to wash load of clothes. You also have to do extra spin cycles (1 to 9 times) to get water out. A year later they send technician out. He tells me that this machine wasnt made to do loads larger than medium, that it cannot wash heavy items such as sweaters, sweatshirts, towels, blankets or comforters. That the normal cycle is not to be used. This is not a working function on this model. It is there because of regulations. Called back to Maytag. They said it was out of warranty and that there was nothing that they could do.

Wow! I wished I had reviewed this page before purchasing a Maytag. We bought a new Maytag Range (#MGR5751BDD) from Menards in March 2008. Within a couple of months, we were out of a stove. I was lighting the burner to make dinner for my family (it is a gas range) and all the burners started making a clicking noise and they caught on fire. Luckily, my husband was nearby and took the fire extinguisher to it.We thought for sure that the house was going to be gone. We contacted Maytag and they had a guy come out (wasnt the friendliest and cted like he could care less). He stated there was wiring that was bad but because we took the fire extinguisher to it we probably voided the warranty. What? He would submit a report to Maytag.Maytag reluctantly gave us some money but not near enough to cover the stove that was only a couple of months old. Now, I cant use the new range that is 2.5 years old. It pops and spurts because the regulator needs to be replaced. The bad thing is by the time we pay for a repairman and the new part, it will cost us a lot of money we cant afford. This stinks.

I purchased the gas stove in June of 2012 from Home Depot, along with a Maytag microwave (Model MGR7662WB4). Home Depot installed both items. After trying to reach into the microwave about the stove, the knob would turn itself on with me brushing up against it. This happened several times, and one time the flame shot up and I almost got burned. The last time it happened, I did not realize that the knob was turned very slightly and gas was coming out of the burner for several hours. If it were not for a friend stopping over, I would not have considered the odor being from the stove. I assumed that the drains were probably backed up and started to add cleaners to the toilet bowls. I had to open the windows for several hours to get the smell out. So I called customer service 2 times. The first person said I would have to pay for the call if the problem was not Maytag and I said, “Forget it.” Then I went into Home Depot and the salesperson in there gave me another number to call for service. They came last Friday and said that he had seen at least 10-15 calls about this and since the unit was working as designed and no recalls, there was nothing they could do. “Just wait and see if a recall would be put into place and I would be on the list to fix it. In the meantime just keep the knobs off (which I was doing already out of fear).” My sister just bought a Whirlpool gas range this summer as well and asked if I could try her knob and it worked perfectly. Again I called CS and was told they could not send me those at no charge and that it would cancel out the warranty. So I asked her what I have to do before I or someone else gets injured and she said that until there was a recall, there was nothing they could do. I told her I was going to contact Consumer Report as well as Pam Zekman on Channel 2 news in Chicago. End of story; I still have the problem and no knobs on the new stove. Anything you can do to help please contact me, and thank you in advance.

Model MDB7749AWB2 Dishwasher - we purchased this dishwasher 3 years ago on 12/23/2011 and it appears to be falling apart. We have replaced two thermo fuses, one door latch/switch and now need the front control panel and handle because two mounting locations for the six screws have broken off. I truly expected a much longer product life than three years when I purchased a Maytag. So much plastic in crucial high stress areas must have slipped by the engineering folks. Or was it just cost cuts. I believe it will be a long time before I consider a Maytag product again based on this one. Thank you.

Deceptive company and won’t stand behind their product! Purchased brand new washer. Identified and reported noise that I can hear upstairs in my house while washing to technician. Changed a part, not related to the noise. Called back out. He admitted he could hear the noise. Whirlpool engineering department says normal. Sorry, I should never hear a clicking noise upstairs with two closed doors and 150 feet between me and the washer. Will be going back to Samsung next time.

I had a problem with the soap dispenser not working properly shortly after I purchased them, but a service technician came and fixed that within a few day. We purchased a MDB8949SAW dishwasher in 2013. 1 month after the warranty expired the touch buttons went on it. If you selected normal it would opt for something else like rinse only. We researched online and my husband followed instruction online to take the door off and seal the moisture to prevent this from happening. This worked for about 2 months and now back to the same thing. We paid $500 for this and just living with the problem for now. All we can do is warn others.

Purchased Maytag Jetclean Dishwasher Model # MDB7749SBM3 on March 19, 2014 and on June 10, 2017 the washer would not go through the cycles properly. So I got on the internet to check out the problem. Maytag has very flimsy wiring circuit on the back of the control panel that rusts out due to being close to high-temperature water. Obviously a design flaw. The only way to fix it is to replace the control panel for $150 dollars with another flawed part. Do not buy Maytag dishwasher.

This review is for a Maytag Gemini MGT8775XW 30 Freestanding Double-Oven Gas Range w/ 5 Burners. I cannot believe the amount of problems I have had from this $2000+ range. Within just a few weeks of getting it, the paint started scratching off the surfaces nearest the heat. Then, the plastic cover over the digital display and controls bubbled up due to the heat of the broiler being in use. They designed it so that the heat escapes from the oven right in front of the control panel, so when you want to adjust temperatures on the control panel, you chance getting burnt from the hot air every time. The very worst design are the manual knobs for the burners on the front. They are at an angle, and if you look at the oven straight on, you see they are higher than the burner surface. A hot pan that overhangs the burner cooks the knobs. The plastic interior of the knob lacks any kind of heat resistance and actually starts to turn soft, keeping you from being able to turn off the burner at all! Most dangerous of all, the knobs are frighteningly easy to bump, pouring gas into your house. We have had this problem multiple times. Today, my dog must have wanted to investigate the top of the stove, because when I came home, the burner was on, had burnt through a pot on the stove, and was just at the ignition point for an item sitting next to the stove. If I had come home 15 minutes later, my house would be in flames right now. I am having to air out my home as I type this. I am DONE with this dangerous oven and will be shopping for a new one, and it certainly wont be Maytag.

MDB7749SBW - Purchased a new dishwasher from Home Depot & had them install it. It worked for 6 1/2 months & the control panel blinked & went dead. I did some research & found there were a lot of problems with the control panels & even a class action lawsuit. I went to Home Depot & they said contact Maytag & brushed me off. I set up a repair per warranty & all was fine for 10 months & same problem has happened again. I told them at Home Depot to replace the unit since nearly every repair job on the control panels prematurely fail again every time. I am going back to the Home Depot again. I do have older Maytag appliances that perform as required & I do know Lowes would have replaced the defective dishwasher.

So sad, purchased brand new Maytag washer and dryer, Commercial technology (MVWB766FW) labels. Looked and appeared impressive. Machines cost almost $1,000 each. Had twenty year old machines that still worked, I didn’t want to face a unexpected breakdown and decided to replace. What a mistake. I’m 67 and all my life from grandma through my mother Maytag was the best, not anymore. Once my equipment was installed I washed a load checking frequently, noticed almost no water in the huge tub and my clothes being beat by the agitator but not enough water to move the clothes. I tried to change to high water setting but had to cancel this load to do so. Once on high water setting I started the load again, water still very low and agitator just rubbing the clothes directly next to it, no movement of the clothes at all. Ran completely through the wash cycle but when moving to the dryer noticed some light blue shorts had dry spots, many, which had never been wet even through the wash, rinse, and spin cycles. Had a warranty service call and was told this is how the machines work. I told the serviceman had I known that I would have never bought the machines. He told me the salesman should have explained this to me which he did not. The only way I can wash my clothes in the new, expensive machine is on bedding cycle with high water setting on. Sad day when American companies can legally sell such crap. Also, called the company where I purchased and ask about return. To that I was told once I made the purchase they were mine and Reid’s Appliance in Santa Barbara didn’t take returns. Reid’s Appliance can’t be trusted. Buyer Beware, this stuff is junk. I will be throwing these machines out soon as they aren’t even sale-able on the used market. MAYTAG RIPPED ME OFF.

We have a similar problem to the others who gave reviews on their still NEW Maytag refrigerators. Ours isnt even four years old and several weeks ago we started smelling a chemical odor which then permeated all of our food in the refrigerator and freezer. We didnt buy the extended warranty because we have owned a few refrigerators and all have lasted just fine for 15+ years with no problems. So I called Maytag. They said for a charge of $369.95 they would schedule a repair and would cover the service call, parts and repair and provide an 12 month warranty. If the service call results in an inability to repair the refrigerator, they will refund the full amount of $369.95. So I asked if Maytag would then replace the refrigerator, and the rep said we have to start with the service call before they would discuss any type of refund or replacement. Im angry and disappointed in Maytag. Its a good thing we have a spare refrigerator in our basement. What a hassle! Weve already had to throw away over $100 in food that picked up that horrible odor. Shame on Maytag!

We have had this washing machine almost 1 year and the small problems have grown enormous. In addition to the constant soap residue left on the dark clothes (my guess is its on the light clothes too, but you just cant see it) the washer goes out of balance frequently (they are replacing the suspension, after they said its all working great). The repair man said Im not loading the clothes properly, I need to roll each item of clothing into a ball and then place it in the washer. Are you kidding me, my new machine has special needs? And dont put in too large of loads. What!!! Its an XL capacity but I cant do an extra large load, because half the clothes wont get wet or clean. Maytag blew it big time with these models, I could talk about the dryer too. Maybe next time.

I bought the Maytag Bravos X, last year. The silver color and glass top fooled me into thinking this was better quality than it is. This washer is very easy to go out of balance. I had to open the top (easy) and install/glue a little styrofoam, to limit the amount the tub could travel. Second unresolvable problem is how to wash anything larger than ONE outfit. If you watch the videos, and read the information, this washer is supposed to flip your clothes so whats on top makes it to the bottom for agitation. Ha! Absolutely BS. Unless you wash a very small load single level. The clothes in a TYPICAL size load will sit exactly as you loaded it.the only attention the top layer of clothes is only sprayed with water, no agitation. Hope you dont have kids. Doesnt XL mean extra large? It sure does, you can wash one pair of extra large pants, and or one extra large shirt.

We purchased a Maytag refrigerator (freezer on top) model m1txegmyw00 in May 2012 and the compressor recently failed roughly 3 months from the two-year mark. We first noticed the issue this winter when the bottom level of the fridge start freezing our food. We adjusted the internal temperature setting down, but this did nothing. Then the compressor started cycling on/off for roughly 5 minutes at a time. After we noticed that, the freezer no longer kept things frozen. We called the Maytag repairman ($80 including taxes just to visit). He said the compressor is gone and that They dont make them like they used to. - I thought he was joking. He also recommended getting a servicing contract on a new fridge (but I would expect that from a serviceman). The cost to replace the compressor was over $600 and their work is only guaranteed on that part for 3 months (so anything else in the fridge could go wrong). I asked if we could have avoided this - he said it was possible that if we had unplugged the fridge for 10 minutes when we noticed the on/off cycling, it might have given the fridge time to reset (so take that for what it is worth). Our previous fridge lasted over 8 years - I dont understand how Maytag (owned by Whirlpool) can sell a high ticket item that will work for less than two years. I will not be purchasing another one.

I had the exact same experience as the Tampa person with my Maytag dishwasher (Model: MDBTT60AWW). It was not cleaning the dishes, even when I thoroughly rinsed them. Plus, it started leaking midway through the cycle. Since the warranty was expired, I purchased an extended warranty in July 2012 for $296 (yes, in hindsight, I should have just bought a new appliance, not Maytag). I had 3 visits from 2 different technicians, both telling me the dishwasher did not leak. One telling me I was using the wrong kind of detergent and thats why dishes werent getting cleaned. The other telling me that there were too much suds and that could cause it to leak. So, I should pour a tablespoon of cooking oil (yes, cooking oil) in the dishwasher when it starts leaking and that will cut down the suds. I dont think so!Then, I found out a couple of weeks ago that this model was under a recall since 2010, not related to the leak at all. Yet, Maytag still sold me the extended warranty (wheres the ethics of that?). I requested a pro-rated refund of the balance on the warranty - and wouldnt you know that with the technicians service calls, the amount of time used on the warranty (6 months) plus an admin fee - I have used $296.48 of the warranty amount. It is almost to the exact penny of what I originally paid, so I will not be receiving any refund. They are only giving me a debit card of $150 or $250 once I buy a new Maytag to replace the recalled model. I do not want to continue down this frustrating path known as Maytag appliances.

We have had Maytag washers in the past, and they always worked well and were reliable. Not so with the Bravos washing machine. It is by far the worst excuse for a washing machine weve ever used. It does NOT clean clothes. It merely ingrains the dirt more into fabric. In four years, we have complained repeatedly to Maytag to try and get some kind of remedy to no avail. Maytag is simply not interested in standing behind their product. So now, after two generations, they have lost us as customers forever and we are telling anyone who will listen; DO NOT BUY A MAYTAG WASHER. They are terrible and not what they once were.

I purchased the Maytag Atlantis Washer and dryer in 2004. I had the washer transmission replaced in 2006, I believe. For about a year now, the washer makes an awful screeching noise. I am not sure if its towards the end of the spin cycle or the rinse cycle, or both. In addition (and over the last 3-4 years), the dial sticks or stalls every delicate cycle. It will stop during the initial agitating and all you can hear is a ticking noise, in which you then have to manually give the dial a slight turn for the cycle to continue. It does it once on the light delicate and twice on the normal delicate. It really is a shame that Maytag is not acknowledging all of these problems as it is not feasible for most people to have a spare $1500 kicking around for a new washer and dryer every time they unfortunately buy a lemon. My previous washer and dryer were 25 years old and still working perfectly when I decided to part with them because they were fairly small. I dont even ever recall having any issues with either one of them in the whole 25 years that I had them. To see all of these complaints makes me more irritated with my appliances and my selection!

Bought this machine with the intention of having at LEAST 10 problem free years with it. Its a Maytag after all. Not an unreasonable expectation. Within the first 2 years, the machine sounded like the bearings were going out (heavy, grinding noises when it shifted gears). Repairman came, replaced the entire drum (only way to get to the gears, I guess). Didnt fix a thing. Then the rinse and spin cycle on ANY wash cycle randomly quits. Just stops. Full load of wet, soapy clothes, sitting in the tub while an LD error code quietly flashes. Its not uncommon for it to take two full days of screwing around with this machine to get one load of clothes done. Have to UNPLUG the machine, let it sit for about an hour, and try again. It is the biggest waste of money ever and I will NEVER buy another Maytag nothing. Contacted Maytag and they recommended I call a repairman...REALLY? REALLY? Gee, I wish I had thought of that. Not even 3 months later I was using my warranty to stop the leak from my freezer now. Mind you, I paid $1500 so I got it fixed. 3 months later I called for repair again... Getting annoyed because this time the freezer came off track. 6 months later were chopping ice chunks up to stop the leaking on the floor. This lasted until last October keeping towels and old clothes around the fridge to soak up the water. This is so embarrassing especially if you have company over. You have a pile of crap soaking up water. I am a wife and mother of 7 children. I cant afford to just go buy another fridge. This isnt fair... Purchased a Maytag bravo washer model #MVWX500XLO 2yrs and 6 months ago April 28/2011. In Dec. 2013, I heard a loud clanking sound and was shocked. I thought that some coins were lodged somewhere.... not the case. I put up with the clanking until after Xmas.... Finally I called a licensed technician (in business more than 20 yrs). He immediately identified the problem.... THE TRANSMISSION was shot. Wow what a shock! 65.00 dollars house call to give me the news. I phoned head office to no avail. The office said that it is not covered and that the part would be in the neighborhood of 350.00 $ and probably the installation around $160.00. I am still in shock. We paid around $750.00 for the unit. The technician said that it is one of the worst machines he has ever worked on. I am now talking with Home Depot to see if they can get some compensation on the unit (speaking with the rep). Will I buy another Maytag (by the way) made by Whirlpool... I guess not.

Had Maytags since we got married (57 yrs). The first one lasted over 30 years, the second about 15 years, then got a Kenmore that washed beautifully, but lasted 3 years. Have a newer Maytag now that is supposed to be more efficient, but takes forever to wash a load. The biggest disappointment with new appliances is there is no timer to let you know what is happening during the cycle.

I have had this washer for a few years now and it is the WORST washing machine ever. I cant even wash a lightweight cotton blanket. It continually unlevels even with me rearranging the blanket over and over. Ill add some, take some out, whatever. It still wont work. The blanket fully wet is also HEAVY and with my arthritis, is very hard to pick up. I dont think enough water goes into the drum to actually clean the clothes either. The clothes at the end of the cycle come out in a weird mushroom form. And when the clothes do get through a complete cycle, they are twisted so tightly it is hard to get the wrinkles out in the dryer. Why would they sell a machine like this without having testing it more first? Dont get suckered into the Maytag name. Terrible washer!

Have had this set for about three years (was a gift from my parents on having our first child), and its horrible. Clothes come out partially dry, with NEW stains on them, torn or frayed, and twisted into knots. Its supposed to be a high-efficiency washer but we often have to wash things twice to get them clean. We now have two little boys and Im starting to save to buy a different set (no Maytag ever again); disgusted that I cant even sell this set in good conscience. Will either be a donation or an eyesore for the landfill. Worst $1100 ever spent.

We purchased our Maytag Bravos Top Load washer 3 years ago from Home Depot. I have to admit this is the worst washer ever. The clothes does not appear to get clean enough for the amount of time it takes for the clothes to wash. The white clothes look dingy after a wash that I have gotten to the point of pouring an additional amount of bleach in the wash tub. The amount of water that is in the tub is next to nothing, I have to either add additional water or place no more than 20 pieces of clothing in the wash. This is sad and I regret that I wasted my money on this product and I do not recommend it. As soon as I get some extra money to throw away, this washer is going out with the bulk trash.

The washer machine is only 2 years old and its broke, at first it wouldnt spin and now it wont wash. Everyone is saying between the parts and service fee, it will cost 200 to 300 dollars or more to fix, most technicians wont repair them because they say that we may as well cut our loss and just buy a new one. No one likes these machines. I wish I would have known what a sham the washer machines were before purchasing.

Bought the Bravos machines in 2008. Nothing but trouble. First they both had to have their timers replaced because they took two hours to wash/dry a load. Then the washer began to leak. I need to keep a towel under it and swap it out with another one as it gets wet. Had warranty folks come out to repair it. Took three tries and two guys working together to figure out what was wrong. Within a year it was leaking again - back to the towels! The dryer always takes at least two cycles to get anything dry. No more Maytag for me!

My Maytag dishwasher is not working after 1 years & 60 months. I called Sears, where I got it. Then, Maytag company. It looks like I need to spend $167 for an electronic controller (the push buttons will not turn on) if I do myself (I doubt if I can go it, but I can try). If not, how much will I pay a tech for coming (I was told $59) plus the labor if I let him fix it. So Im looking at a total of approx $400 plus to fix a 1 1/2 yr old Maytag dishwasher. Any comments Maytag??

It had always been my wish to own a Maytag washer and dryer as they were considered THE BEST! Well was I wrong!! I am on the third stainless steel drum, this one has a hole in it, need 4 wheels and pulleys, with service $542.61!!! On the average, I am having a service call every 6 months - last year we were gone for 6 months so no laundry was done, one drum was delivered and was egg-shaped. Maytag has been NO HELP! I am very disappointed with Maytag, their service and product. They HAD an excellent reputation, to me that is everything. Quality, customer service, and their word means nothing to me anymore.

WE bought all new Maytag kitchen appliances and the extended best service contract. Cost 1/2 of the cost of the appliances. This was 3 years ago. Recently dishwasher went blank. Service call was a factory neutral wire. Then ice maker replaced with a reman unit. Then we thought something was wrong with the oven cleaning system aqua lift. So after many hours and calls two service techs told us the system will not clean the oven and after many cycles it will not and the bad part is they are still selling this system to the public. Criminal. I think they should own up to the public when they do this kind of thing. On top of this I would go buy the self cleaning oven but the tech even said he will not use it because it will break and need replacement. It is no better other than you can use oven cleaner to clean the finish without the heating element and you cannot use anything that works on the aqua lift finish. Bad deal.

I bought a top end Maytag refrigerator with the freezer in the bottom drawer. Spending the extra buck was something that I thought was worth it, being a Maytag. Fifteen yrs go by and it stops completely. It cost me 200 bucks for a service technician to tell me that the compressor or it has a leak. Its not worth repairing. With todays cience and technology, you would think that they can make a refrigerator last for 25 yrs or more, like the old ones. We went to the moon 44 yrs ago. Why cant they make them to last? I think that the corporations figured they can make more money making an inferior product that needs to be replaced every 10-15 yrs. I will never by a Maytag again.

Additionally it puts large, long wrinkles in my knits, especially disfiguring slacks. We too bought a Maytag range (MER5755QAW) approximately 5 years ago. While making Christmas dinner, it quit working. The oven would not heat. Too bad it had to quit that day (or at all for that matter). Unfortunately, every single appliance I bought for my house 5 years ago is a Maytag appliance! The microwave quit last month and I have yet to replace it. I bought Maytag because for the longest time it was such a positive household brand name. Unfortunately, with 2 appliances less than 5 years old and out of warranty, I will never purchase one of their products again! I will spend the extra money and go with LG especially after reading some of the reviews on here on Maytag’s products (there are over 192 complaints on the Maytag ranges and ovens alone on this one forum).

We bought this stove in 2014. One knob got stuck while my teenager was cooking food on the gas stove. He called me at work worried because he couldnt turn it off. My husband left work right away to go home. We thought it was just a bad plastic knob. Now a second knob is stuck in the on low position. There is a third knob that feels hard to turn. That will be 3 burners. This is ridiculous. Its a safety hazard. We consumers have to worry if the house will burn down, get CO2 in the air, and if our family and children are safe. We thought Maytag was a good appliance. I will not buy another Maytag. They should recall this stove top/oven. I have read so many of the same complaint on this website as well as online in general. I cant believe they continue to sell this with this much of a safety issue. Please take it off the market.

We have a Maytag drying center that is almost 6 years old. It never did a good job drying especially for the money we paid, but it just quit on us two weeks ago. We purchased it from TA Appliances in Barrie, Ontario who recommended that we call B&K Appliance repair to fix it. The owner showed up and said he would be back to us in a few days to fix it, as soon as part arrives. He now wont return calls and it has been two weeks, so we called Maytag customer service. We knew we were in trouble when we received a message telling us Due to higher than normal call volume... (so much for the Maytags that never need repair). Anyway, we finally reached an incompetent, ignorant and anti-customer service representative who proceeded to tell us in an extremely, nasally drawl that the part needed to fix our 6 years old dryer is no longer available and the most they could offer as compensation for this on our $1500 plus tax dryer that should last at least 10 years is $120. This is for a dryer we never used more than 5 times a week.

We purchased a Maytag Bravos Quiet 300 about 8 months ago and it will not clean anything. Not one setting will make this machine clean. You have to wash everything 2 to 3 times. There is no savings of any kind with this machine and I dont know anyone who has the time to wash everything multiple times. Its all about the water; its about as much as you can spit. I ran a hose from the faucet and added 8 gallons about 10 minutes into the wash cycle and was able to clean (float) a set of sheets. I find this energy star machine to be worthless and I would have been better buying an old machine at a garage sale than this Bravos machine. Junk. I can get nothing from Maytag, except a demand for service fees or sales pitches for extended warranties (at a price that was half of what the dishwasher cost new). They also offered me the free part as long as I pay the service call fees. I told them to just to ship me the part and that Id do it myself. Nope. I must pay the repairman. Now, theyll ship me the part if I pay for it, but they wont ship me the free part. It only comes with a service call.Maytag also told me that there were no reports of problems with the start/cancel button, an obvious lie with a quick internet search. The customer service rep sounded like she knew I was getting treated badly and kept using the word policy. I bought this wash (XL HD) 1 1/2 years ago. From the time the people installed it it never worked correctly. I have never wanted to beat up an appliance before, but this washer makes me so mad that I am ready to just throw it out and buy a new one even though I paid 600.00 for it and it was more than I would ever pay for a washer. I bought this so I could wash my comforters mainly. Well I cannot wash comforters unless I wash them 5 times or at least try to wash them 5 times or more. They get unbalanced and then the machine shuts off. After doing everything from changing the hoses like somebody else suggested, it still didnt work. Along my troubles with trying to rinse and drain I did find something new that I didnt know I could do for all these months is when you put your machine on rinse, spin, dry and the extra rinse light pops on, click it and turn it off, then it reduces the spin time to 15 minutes instead of 26. Also now I have to just let my hose drain on the floor of my outside wash room because if I hook it up through the wall to drain outside it just stops with the LF code. So I have 2 inches of water on my washroom floor and it really sucks. This is the only way I can get the machine to work without turning itself off. Very disappointed with this machine that appears to be so large (looks can be deceiving). It cannot wash hardly anything and this machine should be taken off the market. It is garbage. I really wish this did work because I have spent too much time trying to rewash, respin, get all the water out of the clothes so I could dry them. This should be banned and not sold by any store.

We bought a Maytag Neptune front loading washer from Bens Maytag in Surrey
We bought a Maytag Neptune front loading washer from Bens Maytag in Surrey four years ago and it has been nothing but trouble. There is no screen in the machine to prevent small things (like coins, screws) from going behind the rubber seal and into the pump. As a result, coins frequently block off the outflow to the pump so the machine doesnt drain. We have had to pay for service calls more times than we can count, and have spent more than original price of the machine making repairs and replacing the pump. We now have learned to take off the hoses and open the pump to remove coins ourselves, which we have to do every few weeks! Bens Maytag tells us that its our fault for letting coins go in the wash. There is no accountability for the faulty design of the machine that allows this to happen. We should have cut out losses and thrown this piece of junk out three years ago. We want Maytag to take responsibility for the faulty design of this product and to credit at least our purchase price toward another machine that works properly!

After reading several of the reviews, it looks like Maytag doesnt get it - or maybe they do and its a plot to make more money. Our dishwasher model MDB8959FSZ4 was installed in Dec. 2016. Within the year, it started leaking. After many service calls it was determined that the arms holding the upper rack were not installed properly and were pushing against the door and water was coming out. After that was replaced, weve had 2 years of relative good use. Now, it wont empty and that started after smelling something burning. The burning smell has gone away but it wont complete a cycle. Service tells us its the drainage pump and that will cost nearly $500 to replace. We wont be spending another dime on this piece of crap. Well replace it with NOT A MAYTAG. Im wondering if it has to do with the control panel as many others have mentioned. We dont care to find out at this point. We are buying something else.

Sounds wonderful. Thats what I thought when I let my son have my 20-year-old, still running older washer. I wanted a new one. It worked good for 3 years and then one night I went to throw the clothes in the dryer and its full of water. After the last rinse and spin, it filled again and stopped. So I tried it on every cycle and got the same results. I thought, No problem. We have a great, honest repairman. Ill call him the next day and hell fix it. When I called and told him what type of washer it was, he was surprised it was working at all. Seems they had a problem with water leaking into the transmission. Apparently, I was lucky that mine had worked for as long as it did. Like I said, Im lucky to have an honest repairman. He told me he could charge me to put in a new timer and solve that problem, but I shouldnt waste my money since it is just a matter of time before it goes bad. Seems they were all bad and Maytag never made good on them. Told me the smartest thing to do would just to go ahead, bite the bullet and get another. It will be here Tuesday morning. Hopefully, this will be the last one I have to buy (keeping my fingers crossed since I had hoped the Maytag was going to be the last). My old machine is still running great for my son. Over 30 years my repairman has had to fix quite a few things for me - ice makers, dishwashers and even a timer on my old washer. Thank goodness he was honest enough to not fix my washer. I dont know if there are even any Maytag products around now, but if there are, they will never get my business. I spent a fortune on a machine that should have lasted the rest of my life. Ive had childs toys that lasted longer. My advice is do not buy Maytag.

Like most people with this Bravos machine, I am 3 months out of warranty and the ball bearing is trash. When the wash goes into spin cycle, it makes a loud clicking noise and takes a few minutes to start spinning. I called service repair and he told me that it was the ball bearing and to talk with them as he has dealt with quite a few high end machines from Maytag that are breaking down after warranty. I should have realized there was a problem when we kept coming up with white spots on our clean laundry and would have to re-rinse clean clothes. This kind of defeats the water saver that is advertised with the machine.Do not buy this product. For a high end washer and dryer, there are many problems. Maybe that is why the Maytag guy is not shown sleeping in commercials any longer. Hes too busy fixing all these machines. Btw, they wont cover the part even though I offered to pay for the service. The best they can do is give me 25% off. Yippee! I cant wait for the other problems to hit me like everyone else.
