I have the same problem noted by the other posts. Water leaking on hardwood floor from the bottom of the freezer. Refrig is out of warranty. Also, the deli drawer is also broken. This is a $2000 refrigerator and the quality is terrible. Please contact me for class action suit inclusion.
Having issues with my mothers refrigerator, simple enough huh? She had misplaced my owners manual. NOW you buy the fridge, but like everything else, once they get your money youre basically on your own! I call to have a owners manual sent to her, she doesnt interact with the internet. I mean, there are still your older ones that doesnt even get on a computer. BUT I was told I couldnt get one! But when I bought it, I had one. Instead, I think its ridiculous how once, like any other major company, they get your money, and threw to the wind after that, something as simply as getting an owners manual for my fridge!!!! Last time I do business with MAYTAG!!!
I built a new house in 2006. As part of a builders package, we had all new stainless steel Maytag appliances installed. The side by side refrigerator compressor stopped after 26 months (of course, passed any warranty). No customer support through Maytag and as previously posted very scripted responses. Maytag microwave handle has broken off several times, the glass seal in the oven door was compromised and the inside glass is stained - most recently the on-going issue with my Maytag dishwasher model mdb5601. Ive already replaced the handle /door latch assembly twice and am confronted with the current dilemma if I should replace the control panel that now appears not to be working. It goes without saying that I will never purchase Maytag products again. However, I am not in a position to replace what are fairly new products. That being said, I am reluctant to purchase costly replacement parts given their poor performance and ratings as mentioned in this thread.
Maytag Frenchdoor MFX2570AEM3 - Was initially really excited with this brand new fridge. We have not even fully paid it off, as we bought with credit at Home Depot, and it continuously leaks water from freezer! I have taken everything out, defrosted, spent about two hours pushing hot water through the freezer drain with a turkey baster and it was only about four days before I had a puddle on my floor again! We have bought quite a few maytag products before, but after this fridge, probably never again! If there is a recall or a lawsuit pending, please, someone advise me of either.
We purchased a full house of Maytag appliances to support American Made (ourselves). It is very disappointing that our Maytag dishwasher Model # MBD 89595BW3 has completely quit functioning properly. All the lights came on and nothing worked after that. We contacted Maytag and was told to turn off the power and restart after 2 minutes which did absolutely nothing. No problem - try again. Again, nothing. The disappointment is compounded by the fact that this dishwasher is only 2 years 7 months old. It is too bad that an American Made product didnt last long enough to show any wear and tear. Investigation to repair resulted in cost prohibitive investment. So sorry Maytag, we gave it a shot. Moving on to a more reliable rated brand.
I purchased this set of Maytag Centennial Washer and Dryer from my local Home Depot in Dec. 2011. I havent had a repairman come out yet, but I am extremely dissatisfied with them. The washer is a problem because it doesnt seem to fill up with enough water to wash the clothes. Also if you want to add something to the washer that you forgot you stop it, and go to restart it again, and it starts removing all of your soap and water again. This is a waste of money, if you cannot stop it and start it again without it filling up again. I would not recommend anyone buying this HE washer & dryer. Also the dryer seems to heat up too hot to me.
After only 2 years my microwave stopped working. Now I can purchase a new warranty which is just as much as a new microwave, have somebody come out and fix it, or pay a service charge which is just under $100 and does not include labor and parts. I figured out now why nobody calls the Maytag repairman. We cant afford it!
If I want to line dry something, first I have to pick off all the lint. Even when I use the dryer, I still have to pick off lint and there’s often creases with dirt dried right in. I have to inspect everything that comes out of the washer to see if it is clean before I dry it. This doesn’t save water, as I often have to wash things at least twice. Awful! Also, ridiculous. A wash machine is supposed to get things clean.
The freezer will frost up and the shelves will not move. Repairman has been out three times, once to clean the drain. The second time he installed new tracks for 250.00. Two hours later they still wont move. The third time out he said it was repaired, but two hours later they didnt move again. We are very disappointed with Maytag.
I purchased my Maytag washer and dryer set from the Maytag store in Glendale, AZ in September 2005. I even bought the stands for them. With my purchase, I got the extended warranty for four more years. I didnt realize that I would really need it. I have had so many issues with the washer and dryer I cant even count - from the control panel not working, to the noise and the vibration when washing, or maybe in the smell of moldy cheese. I also have issues with the constant chimes of D5 code that keeps coming up on the display screen. After 2009, I finally gave up on calling the Maytag customer service folks to have someone come and service the washer because it was out of warranty. I just decided to live with all those issues. As far as my dryer goes, the rollers went bad and that was replaced. The burnt smell isnt so bad as long as you use a wire hanger with a sock on the end of it and clean the inside of the vent. Then try to vacuum it, take the sock, get it wet, and clean the inside of the vent again. This was the most expensive piece of junk I have ever purchased in my life (almost $3,000.00 with the stands and warranty). What really gets me upset is I had the Maytag people servicing my washer and dryer up until 2009 and no one told me about a recall of my washer and dryer. The only reason I found out about it was searching for the specs as the washer finally died and I am replacing it. Trust me. I will not be purchasing a Maytag. I know that Whirlpool purchased Maytag so I am not even going to consider Whirlpool either. Since Whirlpool purchased Maytag, Whirlpool should have contacted all Maytag consumers, (which they didnt), put ads in newspapers (which I did not see) or put an ad on TV. None of these appeared to have happened.By the way, when I bought my Maytag appliances, I was supposed to get a $200 rebate for buying the stands that never came. It must have gotten lost in the mail - as well as the Tide coupons for three years. You, guys, remember that too. I will never ever purchase a Maytag appliance or Whirlpool, since they own Maytag now.
I purchased a complete Maytag set for my kitchen (fridge, double oven, microwave, dishwasher) from Home Depot on November 22nd 2012. About two months ago I noticed the dishwasher started to glitch here and there, but was still functional. I removed the panel and found that the wiring was completely corroded and would need to be replaced. I put everything back together and have managed to make it almost a month on the same cable. In the mean time, I searched for my receipts, my manuals, and anything else to show my purchase given the 10 YEAR WARRANTY Maytag wants to mention as a sale point. Aside from Home Depot not being able to find my order information to duplicate the receipt, I managed to find where I had ordered my set online and was emailed a copy. Home depot is not involved with the warranty process, unless you purchase the additional warranty. They deferred me to Maytag. I contacted Maytag and was informed that the warranty only covers the stainless internal tub, the racks, and the chopper. Seriously?? So, absolutely NOTHING mechanical about the product past one year. After paying the $699 for the washer, and another 57.99 for installation and kit, I was told by Maytag that I could buy another 1 year warranty that would cover the part, but it would cost me $289, or roughly half the price I paid to get a whole two years out of the dishwasher in the first place. This means I might as well be paying almost $300 a year just to have this product... ridiculous!! Just to buy the part and do the work myself, the part is $172 plus tax/shipping. Since it is only 4 screws and a couple clips holding this thing on, I am likely going to go that route.I have read many people saying similar things about the electronic wire corroding and this appears to be a well known issue with their products. They recommend sealing the entire area using a tube of silicone to help reduce the amount of time it takes to ruin another cable. Very very very poor craftsmanship. Nice racket they have through charging people so much every couple of years for their products!! As my $4000 kitchen appliance set falls apart, I doubt I will ever replace it with another Maytag item.
We purchased a new Maytag washer and dryer from Home Depot; a couple months later the dryer started to rattle so we contacted Maytag and they sent a service tech out who stated this was normal as the dryer was settling and parts are not as tight as they are when new. This was a garbage response and he was asked to leave. I contact Maytag again, told them of the problem and the tech response and they offered to send another tech out except I would have to pay for the service call since they already sent someone out. I sent them an audio file of the rattle, no reply. Eventually Home Depot ended up replacing the dryer as Maytag refused to help me despite it being in the warranty period.
My Maytag dishwasher is very easy to use. Saves on money and time. I enjoy it and it have made my life so much easier. When you cook for two you can be out the kitchen in no time.
The door is worthless. I am the only washing machine user in my home and am gentle with my appliances. However over normal use, the washers door has cracked and has had to be replaced twice since it was purchased from Home Depot.
Maytag never fails to please me. My dishwasher is so quiet I sometimes have to put my ear next to it to make sure it’s actually working. The inside is stainless steel (those are the quietest) and it has a child lock so my 2 yo grandson can push all the buttons he wants and he still can’t mess things up. I love the high temp and sanitize features and everything is always clean and dry when done. It seems like it takes a long time to run through all the cycles, though. That and no adjustable top rack are the only two things I miss with my previous dishwasher.
Bought a Bravos, large capacity, top load washing machine few years ago. (Purchased at a Lowes.) Been nothing, but one problem after the other!! I hate it! NO MORE MAYTAGS FOR ME. Has required several repairs of various parts. Now again, after being repaired few months ago, something else has gone wrong. Would have been cheaper to replace a 3-4 year old machine than keep having repairs.
This is not about a Bravo but Maytag is the biggest piece of junk Ive ever owned. Have not had the washer but a couple of years and is leaking somewhere inside of the machine. Have to turn the water on and off just to wash clothes and still laundry room floor soaked. The dryer I have to run for 70 mins. on high heat at least twice to dry clothes, 3 times for your towels. Of course it lasted long enough so the warranty had run out. Never ever again would I buy this crap.
Purchased a Maytag Centennial top load washer that will not fill with enough water to wash clothes. The washer was purchased from Lowes on August 17, 2016 and we tried to return but Lowes refused because we were passed the required 30 day return period. We contacted the Maytag company and they sent out service people who reported that there was nothing we could do other than wash small loads. The company also reported that if we tried any of the solutions on the web we would violate our Warranty. Since we find ourselves in this spot (we should have read all the bad reviews here before the purchase) we have decided to place the machine in a very visible spot across from a new 100 store shopping center on a truck with a 4x8 sign warning the public not to purchase this product.
We purchased our Maytag® 4.5 cu.ft. White Front-Load Steam Washer online through Menards and picked up the washer on Feb. 5, 2022. We set it up on Feb. 6, 2022 and it didnt work properly from day one. The washer makes a clicking sound when it spins and also gets out of balance very easily. I contacted Maytag and they referred a warranty repairman in our area. He looked at the machine and said it could be one of two things and it would be a major repair. We would have to haul the washer to his shop and he would have to tear apart the washer to fix. He said it would be a big job to fix and we would be out of a washer for a few days.I also had contacted Menards shortly after we purchased the machine and they told us to contact Maytag. They wanted nothing to do with us and didnt want to stand behind a product that they had sold. Getting major warranty work done on a NEW washer makes no sense to me. I am very disappointed in Maytag and will never purchase anything Maytag again. Dont bother wasting your money like we did!
If I can rate the AquaLift Technology oven cleaning system that my Maytag oven has as a “Zero”, I would. This technology only removes some of the spills on the bottom of the oven. It does not clean the sides or top of the oven. I’m back to the olden days of using a lot of elbow grease to remove splatters and spills. They say you cannot use any cleaners in the oven either. At least with the old ovens you can spray an oven cleaner and wipe it clean. This product has taken us back before there were spray oven cleaners!
The first problem happened a month after we bought the horrible product. I had biscuits baking in the oven and the oven door locked itself like when in self-clean mode. Maytag sent out a repairman that had the part in his truck because they knew there was a problem with that models door. I pointed out that the door does not shut properly, causing inaccurate heating and scorching on the outside of the oven door. The repairman insisted that it was shut properly, and that it was designed at the angle the door sits. He replaced the scorched part of the door, but it immediately scorched again. I have had the part replaced 3 times, and will not do so again until we sell the house. I have spent over money over and over again to make the repair, because it makes the stove look like it is filthy with grease. Now, all the dots painted on the glass top are coming off, and the remaining black glass behind it also looks like burnt grease. It is so embarrassing when entertaining; but the stove is clean. I spent a lot of money for this, and it has been junk from day one. Avoid purchasing.
The last Maytag washer was great, the dryer not so much, but I was able to repair it. This Bravos is sorry. 4 years old and the tube goes bad is not what you would expect from Maytag. Consequences, no more Maytag or GE for that matter, that dont leave many brands to choose from.
I purchased an Atlantis washer in 2005 and assumed that Maytag was still one of the better manufacturers. How naive of me! What genius at Maytag thought it was a good idea to place the water filter inside the washer? Not only can you not keep the filter clean so that cold water will flow properly, even worse, if the filter completely clogs, the water will not stop filling into the tub which could, of course cause an overfill and flood. I narrowly escaped this scenario once. No one should have to stand and watch their machine fill with water to insure it stops. Now the machine is causing a grinding noise when agitating. I expect it to stop working any day. I will not buy another Maytag or Whirlpool, who of course now owns Maytag. And I will not pay another repair bill for the filter or any other part. The brand was once considered the best in America, now its just another brand thats a piece of junk produced in another country.
I have been Maytag customers for 40+ years. I purchased a new Maytag washer and dryer at Home Depot last year. The paint is coming off and the top is starting to rust. We have had Maytag washers and dryers for as much as 17 years that did not rust. The reason we bought Maytag was quality. Rusting in one year is not quality. Please contact us ASAP. Home Depot said there was nothing they could do.
I have just joined the open and close the door Maytag Club. Purchased four Maytag products on Black Friday 2017 as I always trusted Maytag. Only disappointed to have my microwave (MMV4205D-4) come down with the virus (open & close door) that has plagued so many unsuspected owners. Almost made its 1st year anniversary. Now I see this has been going on for years and all they do is add different model numbers at the end. Luckily Im in the 1 year warranty and repairman coming next week. Now I question if I should take the extended warranty as I see this is going to happen again down the road. And will the extended warranty cover it? Guess the Maytag repairman isnt sitting and waiting for repair call anymore. He is being kept busy!
Purchased Maytag Jetclean Dishwasher Model # MDB7749SBM3 on March 19, 2014 and on June 10, 2017 the washer would not go through the cycles properly. So I got on the internet to check out the problem. Maytag has very flimsy wiring circuit on the back of the control panel that rusts out due to being close to high-temperature water. Obviously a design flaw. The only way to fix it is to replace the control panel for $150 dollars with another flawed part. Do not buy Maytag dishwasher.
I purchased a Maytag electric range model # MER8775AS in Feb 2012. While boiling syrup, the pan overflowed onto the oven door. As I began to clean up the spill I noticed that some of the spill had gotten inside the door on the inside of the oven glass. To remove the stain would require disassembly of the door. I called Maytag and complained of what I called a design flaw and they said, No, its your fault for spills entering the door. They even sent a condescending email to me informing me that if I needed to purchase parts, where I could get them. I designed appliances for years and this is another example of poor quality and lack of consumer service. I AM DONE WITH MAYTAG.
My husband and I were Maytag fans, and we purchased the fourth set of Maytag w/d in May 2019, along with an extended warranty. Four sets may seem like a lot, but my husband and I have been married for almost 30 years now. Long story short, the washer went haywire, and kept flashing LF. After searching Google for answers, my husband flipped the main breaker, then unplugged the washer overnight. It seemed like that fixed the problem, but it didnt. I called Lowes for help and got hung up on numerous times. The hang-ups were not due to my attitude or choice of words. I kept getting transferred from person to person and put on hold, then the phone would go dead. Eventually, someone actually spoke to me and gave me an 800 Maytag number to call, which resulted in more hang-ups.As before, eventually I got to speak to a real human being who took my info and said that a service tech would contact me. Well, over two weeks later, no one has contacted me. However, due to my post/review on the Maytag website, a Lowes representative did call me and offered me a full refund on the washer, but not a word was mentioned about the dryer that seems to be possessed because it turns on and off at will. My husband and I have a limited income, and we purchased the top-of-the-line Maytag w/d thinking that it would last at least ten or more years. For the money that we spent, the w/d should have at least lasted for the warranty period. As noted before, Maytag was once the Toyota of w/d. You could not purchase a better product. Now, the exact opposite is true. Buyer beware, the most expensive with all of the bells and whistles is not always the best. My husband and I have gone retro with the purchase of a new Speed Queen w/d, which will be delivered this week. Hopefully, it will live up to the reviews that I have read.
CWG3600AAS13 - I purchased this advertised as Double Oven. It is NOT - its an oven w/ broiler. The oven shuts off completely during cooking time and comes back on approx. 2-3 mins. This takes place often and loses heat. I have to adjust cooking times and oven temp to make up for the loss. This also happens when broiling. Needless to say it takes MUCH longer to broil anything. When I notified Maytag of this, they responded with it is an open door broiler. Are they serious? I have 2 dogs and 11 grandchildren - burn factor anyone? (P.S. It did not change anything.)
I bought this washer less than 4 years ago and its already broken (leaking from the basket). Maytag refuses to honor their warranty and is charging $400 to send someone out to fix it even though it specifically says in the warranty that the basket is covered. When I mentioned this to the rep, I was told that does not apply to all washers. I expected better service from Maytag and thought it was a reputable company. I will now have to purchase another washer, rather than spend $400 to fix this one. It definitely will not be a Maytag!
The dishwasher (model number MDB7100AWW, serial number 158462977YH) that was replaced due to recall for fear of fire hazard has only lasted two years. Is there any recall on the recall? Our dishwasher was purchased in 2001. We live approximately 30 miles from the former location of Maytag manufacture, Newton, IA. In our 39 years of marriage, we have always had Maytag appliances: washer, dryer, fridge, and dishwasher with long lasting results. Our previous dishwasher lasted 23 years. It is very disappointing to feel the need to replace a Maytag appliance, which weve always felt was industry standard after such a relatively short life! It no longer fills correctly, and trouble has been diagnosed by service tech as bad control board. It seems theres a possibility of fire hazard once again. Can you offer any help short of replacing appliance as cost of repairs does not seem effective? Thank you in advance for your attention.
We purchased our Maytag dishwasher from Nebraska Furniture Mart in February 2013. The touch panel on our Maytag dishwasher quit working in December 2014, several lights would come on or flash or not work at all. The first repairman that we had come out took the panel apart, cleaned it up and put it back together ($100). It started working again but a few days later it started doing the same thing again. So I called the repairman back and he said the touch panel would need to be replaced. He called all over Omaha and no one had the part in stock. He called the Chicago Maytag warehouse and was told by them that they were out of them because there were so many defective dishwashers that they used them all. Now they are trying to find a new manufacturer to make them. It could be months before they get them in. So I contacted Maytag and of course they said that is not true and put me through to a parts company that they said has all the parts available. When I told that company that it was the touch panel, I was told by them that you only replace the touch panel for cosmetic reasons! So we got a second opinion from another Maytag repair company and he spent about 10 minutes looking at the dishwasher and said its a defective touch panel. He said he has replaced a lot of them in Maytag dishwashers. He recommended that I contact Maytag customer service and try to get them to pay for the part. I did call them and of course they refused because it is out of warranty. The supervisor even told me that they have not had any complaints about the touchpad malfunctioning! They do not stand behind their products anymore. I will never buy a Maytag or Whirlpool product ever again. I told them exactly how I felt and their only reply was Im sorry you feel that way. I am surprised they continue to stay in business. I dont understand how major stores can continue to sell their products when they are garbage. Based on the other reviews Ive read, Im not even sure we should fix this for $250.
I sent an email to Maytag regarding my Maytag Bravos washer which I purchased two years ago at a cost of $1,100. I have started having problems with the machine last week. I kept getting the UL error code. I called a certified appliance person to come out to find out what was wrong. I do not believe any of the appliance people know what to do for these machines.First, I was told it was the control board that needed to be replaced, then I was told the motor had a crack in it and it needed to be replaced, and then the springs needed to be replaced. So they replaced the springs. This was a Tuesday afternoon. It worked fine until Wednesday of the next week and I started getting the F51 code. Just let me say if you cannot stand behind your parts on a $1,100 washer that is only two years old, then something is very wrong. I am in for $159 on repairs so far. Who knows what the cost will be to finally get the machine repaired.
I bought my Maytag washer and dryer in Monroe County in Georgia, USA in 1980. Its a 1979 product and it STILL works perfectly fine after 40 years! Im 64 years old now and Im hoping Ill never have to buy a new set although I would love one because theyre so pretty these days.
Bought this Maytag microwave mmv 4205ds March 2016. Have had open/close problems five times in 3 years. Unit replaced under warranty once. Now out of warranty. No need to mention inconveniences we’ve been through. Whirlpool-Maytag obviously have done nothing to correct this problem. I will never buy any of their product again. Wanted to give them ‘0’ stars but program won’t allow me.
Purchased this washer from Saginaw, Michigan location in 2007. Started sounding like it was going to come through the wall of the laundry room so I contacted repair service. Told bearing was bad and that cost of repair would be $1,000.00 - literally laughed at repairman. I find it difficult to believe that a washer is built to last 7 years after paying so much for it.... My years of purchasing solely from Maytag have thus ended.
I purchase a Maytag dishwasher from Home Depot on 12/31/11. Based on the their commercials, I thought they were dependable. I did purchase an extended warranty, as I always do with any new appliance. After 2 years, the dishwasher stop working. I contact Home Depot and the extended warranty and was told to contact the manufacturer. Maytag blamed the extended warranty for the problem. They told me they could not help me. And could not help me. I will never ever buy any appliances from Maytag again. This model is M936/110V cord.
We purchased the Maytag Bravos MCT in July 2017. Just passed the 1 year warranty and the glass door just shattered. No reason for it really other than it must have been defective. Nothing dropped on it and it wasnt cold or hot in the room. I got nothing. Maytag said they didnt know why it would happen, and would have to send service tech out. A lid for this type of washer alone is $200-$300. Buyer beware. Dont get a glass top loader.
This has nothing to do with the vendor. This is clearly shoddy workmanship on the part of Maytag. I bought this refrigerator in 2005 and already the compressor is gone. So therefore, I have to replace the whole unit. What kind of ** is this? You mean to tell me that you people cant find someone to build a compressor that holds up more than a few years? Why dont you try American made and built.I am disillusioned by the whole industry. Im sure the people at the top could care less.
Same complaint as most of the others: bought a refrigerator in 2013 and about one month after the 1 year warranty had run out the freezer started leaking water all over the floor and build up is on the bottom of the freezer, making it difficult to pull out the metal drawer. :( We do not have the water even hooked up to the automatic icemaker so have no clue where the water is coming from. Clothes washer has never worked properly from day one, didnt fill up with enough water. Had the repair man here while the warranty was still in effect and he verified that the washer DID not fill with enough water therefore leaving soap and grime on our clothes. :( He had to order an entire new brain and replaced it. Worked for a couple of months better than it ever DID and now back to soapy, grimy, dirty clothes again. Why isnt there a recall on the part that keeps backing up on these bottom freezer Maytag refrigerators? Someone needs to start a class action lawsuit and get these things recalled and replaced. Spent a lot of money on this brand new refrigerator and was so jazzed to get a brand new one for the first time in my life. :( Well that was surly short-lived. Shame on you Maytag, your company has really gone downhill. I would love it if an attorney could start a class action lawsuit with Maytag on their bottom freezers.
Leaked and leaked, spent hundreds on never ending problems from day one. No support from Maytag. I was told by Sears salesman it was the best you could buy. Our old washer lasted 30 years. This one never worked right - dead at 5 years. Shame on Maytag.
2 weeks after my warranty is up, the control panel is shot. They used to make quality products and that is why I purchased a Maytag. I had before this a very cheap dishwasher from G.E. and it lasted 9 yrs. I cant believe it is already broken. Do not buy Maytag!!
We purchased a MDB8949SAW dishwasher in 2013. 1 month after the warranty expired the touch buttons went on it. If you selected normal it would opt for something else like rinse only. We researched online and my husband followed instruction online to take the door off and seal the moisture to prevent this from happening. This worked for about 2 months and now back to the same thing. We paid $500 for this and just living with the problem for now. All we can do is warn others.
Bought the washer in February 2012 for $900 at a local appliance store, delivery included. Just yesterday (10/16/15) a 5 cent piece of grey plastic flew out of the lid lock mechanism. Thinking this $900 modern piece of machinery painstakingly designed by intelligent people with university degrees would certainly work if I just stuck the plastic part back in. I just popped it back in, the lid locked, and the machine spun away happily (only having to run a correct cycle for an unbalanced load twice! What joy!) Fast forward 40 minutes, I skip down the stairs to go retrieve my flannel sheets (because its October in Pennsylvania, its getting freezing cold at night) and pull up gently to open the lid. It doesnt budge. About 2 hours later, following a screaming match and some furious googling, it was determined we would need two people to pop the entire top off the machine to extract my sheets. So in order to use the washer to clean clothing now, weve been unplugging the machine. Removing the three screws on the control panel (aka brainbox), unplugging the black and white wire from the brain box, taking the control panel off and sitting it on the dryer, and using putty knives to push in the metal clips holding down the top of the machine down, and prying the entire top of the machine back on its hinge. Then I can get my clothes out. Then doing so in reverse (dont forget to add detergent before shutting the lid! It will lock and you will have to pop the entire top off again.) to use the washer. All because of a 5 cent piece of PLASTIC. What brainchild figured, Eh, we can just use plastic for this important piece that the washer wont run properly without. It doesnt matter!? Someone that wanted to make $300 a pop doing service calls thats who.I cant believe Maytag has gone so far down the tubes. In case anyone else ran into this problem and needs to fix it, write down the model number, serial number, and other crud listed under the lid. Then use them to wipe while youre in the bathroom. All you need is the company and part number on the lid lock mechanism. According to Maytags website my washer doesnt exist. And there was no way, no matter how creatively I googled, to find a part for it with the Maytag model number. So now I have to try to find this measly mechanism to replace and try to use this piece of crud for a few more months. I guess my Christmas present this year is buying a new washer. And you can BET it will not be a Maytag. And two more things: with no agitator, you can fit really big stuff, but you also get to hear your washing machine dancing on your basement floor with an uneven load. No matter how many times you try to re-position items, it runs a corrective cycle, refills with water, and spins everything into a ball AGAIN. Also, the miserable thing is starting to rust. Right on the sides and near the lid hinge, and all around the bleach receptacle. How cheap, a washer on which the paint rusts right off with chlorine bleach.I wish I still had my Grandpas old 1930s wringer Maytag. At least I knew that one would work without a cheap piece of plastic. And at this point I might prefer wringing my clothes to hearing my washer try to escape. In short: cheap parts, no replacements available through company for DIY repairmen, company designed to force customers to use their servicing for $300 a pop. 1/10 would NOT recommend Maytag.
Bravos XL washer- This is probably the worst purchase I have ever made, first off, at $1000 it was a pricey purchase however, I chalked it up to it will last many years without issue. After only 3 years, the unit leaked water and was so loud you couldnt stay indoors while it was on spin cycle. The bearings and seal were completely shot and needed replacement, after the sticker shock of having a good repairman fix the problem I decided to tackle the job myself. (Thank you YouTube). All was well for the next 2 years until it all happened again. Maytag is junk and will never get another dollar from me-ever! A Speed Queen TR5 now sits where that piece of crap used to reside. BUYER BEWARE!
Purchased this dishwasher 3 1/2 yrs. ago. Control panel went out. We would have had to pay almost the cost of new one to replace the part! Maytag used to be reliable. The dishwasher we owned previously (not Maytag) was still working after 12 years!
The washer and dryer were purchased together as a set 4 years ago in 2010. There have been times where I actually had clothes come from the washer completely and partially dry due to lack of water inside the washer! It fills based on how many clothes are in the washer or capacity that it senses. I have had so many clothes dry washed and torn up due to its use! If you set the washer to the wrinkle control position it does not go through the last rinse and spin cycle, you must reset it to the rinse, drain, spin cycle again in order to finish processing that load.It has already thrown its belt 2 times! Which my husband had to fix since we could not get in touch with anyone at Maytag who knew what we were talking about! If change gets stuck inside the washer bin in the little groove in the tank it is very difficult to get out, Im sure everyone has washed a pair of pants with the change still in the pockets, yes I know this is user error but if you dont know the change is in the little grooves because you cant see them, it stops the washer! So be sure to search this every time you do laundry! The dryer has a mind of its own! Sometimes it will finish drying your clothes, sometimes it wont finish the time set! Theres no reason just doesnt finish! There is so many reasons I will never purchase this brand again. Ive run out of room and patience. My clothes look like Im homeless!
I purchased a Maytag fridge with a freezer on bottom. As you know there are many complaints regarding ice build-up in freezer causing leakage out onto the floor. I will not purchase Maytag again. For 3 years I have fought the ice buildup and it has ruined my floor! Poor design - should have been recalled!
I have spent a lot of effort leveling my machine, and my wife balances the load very carefully, but 10 times during a cycle, it will start slamming the tub around, so loud you can hear it from the street. I, like others in this forum, thought I was buying the best washer in the market, and paid extra for the Maytag name. It sounds like from the other complaints, that my problem is just the tip of the iceberg. It will cost me $200 to replace the suspension rods. I wouldnt mind paying the money, if I thought it would fix my problem. After reading about all of the other problems with the Bravos, I might just cut my losses, and get a new one. What a waste of $1,000.
I purchased Maytag refrigerator (model # MSD2572VES). The fridge side stopped working. I was told that the vent/chute between the freezer and fridge ices up and prevents the cold air from the freezer to go through the fridge. The tech said that Maytag was sending him a tube of silicone to apply all around freezer and fridge and that this will probably fix the problem. So in other words, because of a design flaw, the refrigerator cannot function without adding silicone (maybe). I believe I purchased a lemon with a design flaw and they want me to accept a permanent band-aid as the solution. Shouldnt I have right to demand another model instead of having to accept a cheap alternative (silicone)? Now, if factory installed parts break off, can you imagine silicone tubed in after the fact where there was no silicone crevasse? I cant imagine it staying on - permanently.
This washer is only two years old and does the wash for 2 people. The control board has broken down and the lid lock did too. Of course the warranty had just expired, so there is no help from the maker, Whirlpool. Save yourself a big loss and dont buy these brands. Mine is going to the dump where it belongs. Thats $500 down the drain. Do yourself a favor and get a Speed Queen.
MDBH979SAM0 - Bought this dishwasher from Home Depot 2 years ago and have taken care of it, never abused it or anything. All of a sudden it just starts freaking out, once you start a cycle it will wash and then rewash and then keep going costing us money on electricity, water and wear and tear on the machine. Ive tried everything but it seems like its just stuck in start mode. The indicator lights on the panel flip out too, they will all blink randomly. So when I close the dishwasher and dont intend to start any cycles and it is off it will start up all on its own so Ive had to unplug it. Funny how I called to order a control panel part and its on back order... Very interesting how they are out of this part probably because everyones ordering it.
This dishwasher constantly has an odor. I run the dishwasher every third day (there are only two of us), and no matter how well the dishes are rinsed off, there is an unpleasant smell whenever the door is opened. Even after running the washer, upon opening the door an unpleasant scent still lingers. I compare this washer to the Kenmore I left in my previous home and this brand new one falls short. I would not purchase this dishwasher again. But because this is only a year old, I guess I am stuck with it for a while.
I just purchased a Maytag Washer and Dryer. I am very pleased with the cleaning ability of this washer. It has set pre-timed washing and drying times. I would like to have availability of setting the times for a load to run. Same with the dryer. The book says you can do this but I have not figured out how. I have been very pleased with their abilities to do what they are supposed to do. Cleaning and Drying.
Maytag Centennial HE Washer - Worse machine ever. Takes over an hour for a load of clothes, never clean. Had only for 18 months now, it wont advance past wash cycle.
We bought a new Maytag electric range from a local dealer three years ago. The oven element quit working, which shorted out the motherboard that controls the entire range. The cost of repair was $500 for the element, motherboard and installation. We have owned other brands that lasted 20 years and worked fine with no repairs. My folks have used Maytag for over 50 years with no problems. Who and where is this junk manufactured now? China? I will never buy another Maytag product!
We have a Maytag drying center that is almost 6 years old. It never did a good job drying especially for the money we paid, but it just quit on us two weeks ago. We purchased it from TA Appliances in Barrie, Ontario who recommended that we call B&K Appliance repair to fix it. The owner showed up and said he would be back to us in a few days to fix it, as soon as part arrives. He now wont return calls and it has been two weeks, so we called Maytag customer service. We knew we were in trouble when we received a message telling us Due to higher than normal call volume... (so much for the Maytags that never need repair). Anyway, we finally reached an incompetent, ignorant and anti-customer service representative who proceeded to tell us in an extremely, nasally drawl that the part needed to fix our 6 years old dryer is no longer available and the most they could offer as compensation for this on our $1500 plus tax dryer that should last at least 10 years is $120. This is for a dryer we never used more than 5 times a week.
This is a Bravos MTC machine. It is a top load and has an energy star rating. Made in the United States. Impressed by its low water usage and Its ability to clean clothes. This particular model comes with a 10 year limited parts warranty, drive motor and washbasket.
I bought the larger capacity machines to save time because Im so busy with my family and wanted to cut down on loads. I was surprised to find the capacity can really only operate at half, which is as large as my old, smaller machines. The washer is extremely sensitive, meaning it may take four or five tries (this morning was four) to arrange the clothes - even a small load of delicates - in it in the exact way the machine wants before it will allow the cycle to start. This is exceptionally frustrating, particularly during the busy morning or when you are tired at night. So you have to stand there and wait until the sensing function is happy and you see the water pouring in. Yet often you will return to the machine and it will have an error message that occurs inexplicably during the spin cycle, so the wash cycle will need to be restarted. It cannot just be continued. The machine is not only a huge time waster but a water/detergent waster as well.I learned that the sensing function on the dryer is useless as well after coming back to many loads of damp clothes that sat there, got little funny smelling as a result, and had to be rewashed in the nightmare washer lol. So now I just use the timer function. It takes about two hours to dry a regular load of towels, so be prepared for that. I bought Maytag because it is an American-made product, but I wont make the same mistake next time. If the quality is any reflection of the functionality, it probably wont last very long anyway. Heres to hoping.
Since day one, no matter the size of the load or how careful I place the clothes or what level or water, washer vibrates and moves around the floor. I have had service out twice to recheck level but it still vibrates. Worst washer ever. I should have spent the money to repair my 20-year-old Kenmore.
I bought it from a local dealer so that I could get it serviced locally. I bought it in 2012 and paid $750 for it. I hate just about everything about this (and all modern) washing machines. The deal breaker is all these safety features that are really inconvenient and pointless. If I could have found a good used washing machine at least 10 years old, I would have bought it. This is a Maytag Centennial. I dont like the automatically locking door, the inability to choose the water level myself, and the requirement to use a particular kind of soap. Also, I hate the idea that I have to clean the washing machine from time to time. Whoever heard of that? But you have to do it otherwise your clothes will have a sour smell. These new washing machines are not an advance in technology. I may have to go back to using a wringer machine.
I purchased a Maytag Dishwasher (MDB7749) in 2012 and one day before my 1 year warranty was up, my start button on the control panel wouldnt work. I called P.C. Richard and they sent a repairman who fixed it. This was in June of 2013. Here I am now hand washing again 1 year and 4 months after the repair. I called P.C. Richard again and was told that all brands have their weak points and because I got it on sale in the first place, I should not feel angry. Now that I am reading the reviews from 5 years ago, I realize that P.C. Richard knew this was an issue and chose not to disclose it or stop selling it. I had my G.E. for 10+ years and will go back to one. As I have no money for another new one, I will try to learn to fix this one on You Tube.
I would not purchase a Maytag in the future. The top oven does not work, and one of the burners is semi functional. Considering I have only have the oven about 5 years. I am not happy with the the product. In the future I would seek other options, Maytag is not on the list of products for consideration.
We bought a Maytag Dishwasher - Model #MDB4949SHW a year and a half ago at a Home Depot Location. We had previously had a Whirlpool dishwasher for 13 years of heavy use, with no issues or difficulties. At the time we purchased our dishwasher, there were various different brands on sale, including the one we purchased. The sales rep at Home Depot advised us that although we could get a similar dishwasher for the same price, that this particular model had a 10 year warranty. When I heard that, all I heard was 10 worry free years. MY MISTAKE. I could never have imagined that a company such as Whirlpool would advertise a warranty, that in the end is made up of nothing but false advertising. We ran a cycle during the Christmas holidays, and detected a funny smell of burnt rubber but didnt know what to make of it. I googled the issue and some people had had experiences with perhaps a plastic utensil or some other plastic, being burned by the heating element, so I figured that its what might have happened. I ran another cycle the next day, and the smell was much less prominent so I thought the problem had gone away. The next time we ran a cycle, the water didnt drain. We called in a repair person, and was shocked to learn that both the drain pump and main control board needed replacing. We got in touch with Whirlpool and low and behold, the only items they cover are nonsense items such as the racks, drum, tub...etc....in other words, the parts that are actually responsible for the running of the machine, are not covered, neither is LABOUR. Therefore, in my opinion, their warranty is trash and should not be relied upon under any circumstances. We purchased a new dishwasher just a year and a half ago, and are left with a heap of junk in our kitchen. Our options? Either spend $600.00 to $700.00 on repairs, possibly more, or buy a new dishwasher. When I asked if there was anything they could do to at least mitigate my damages, I was told....Sorry for your inconvenience...but do you have any other questions. I dont have any other questions...but I do have have a comment.... Make your products better....and dont print warranties that are utterly rubbish, false, and only serve to mislead the consumer. Needless to say, we will not be buying any more appliances from this company. Their one and only goal is profit for their shareholders with no regard whatsoever for the consumer. If I could give it ZERO stars, I most certainly would. :)
Our Maytag ref. is not quite 4 years old and it is leaking water on to our floor. The ref. is a French door with water and ice in the door and freezer on the bottom. We have to clean up puddles of water at least 3 or 4 times a day. I see that this is not an isolated problem, as others have complained about this defect doing the same thing with their Maytag refs. Why hasn’t Consumer Affairs demanded a recall on these expensive defective refrigerators to date?
I purchased a 2006 model Maytag Top load Washer and Dryer used 9 years ago January 2010 to replace a 2009 Samsung front load washer/dryer. I had to replace the agitator on Maytag washing machine before I could use it. Fast forward November 2018 the washing machine stopped agitating the clothes, but would spin the water out. I replaced 2 belts and thoroughly cleaned underneath and inside washer to remove soap residue. Maytag washing machine has been used twice a week since 2010-2019 and still going strong. Maytag dryer has never had any issues. I also own a set of 25+ year old Maytag Washer/Dryer both still working.
Bought a new Maxima washer in January. Worked for one week. Got error codes and electronics board shut down. Contract serviceman says board should have reset after turning off. Ordered new board and it is missing one of the electrical wire connector plugins. Maytag/Whirlpool is having a problem with these boards.Three weeks without a washer. Two days off work. When it goes out again, days off work will be close to what I paid for it. Thinking I may cut my future losses and buy another brand when in-transit board goes out.
I have had this washer for a few years now and it is the WORST washing machine ever. I cant even wash a lightweight cotton blanket. It continually unlevels even with me rearranging the blanket over and over. Ill add some, take some out, whatever. It still wont work. The blanket fully wet is also HEAVY and with my arthritis, is very hard to pick up. I dont think enough water goes into the drum to actually clean the clothes either. The clothes at the end of the cycle come out in a weird mushroom form. And when the clothes do get through a complete cycle, they are twisted so tightly it is hard to get the wrinkles out in the dryer. Why would they sell a machine like this without having testing it more first? Dont get suckered into the Maytag name. Terrible washer!
I purchased my 2nd Maytag Neptune washer in 2005 to replace an early Neptune that was complete junk. This one worked OK until this year when it began to make awful noises. After research, I decided it was the bearings that failed. I took the unit apart to get to the bearings and found out the entire outer tub must be replaced not just the bearings, at a cost of $515. What lousy engineering, the bearings dont come out of the housing. No wonder Maytag repairmen are so bored. There is nothing to fix, you just buy a new washer. I wont buy Maytag this time.
2013 We purchased from Lowes Maytag washer and dryer front load stackable. We live in a house 1890. We have a closet that these units go into so we are restricted to what brand we can buy. WE read the reviews. People must lie or are paid to write good ones. Within a few weeks the washer was giving us trouble. The door latch was not closing properly and it would take up to 20-30 min. to get it to start. Called and they said the latch was stuck. Again started having problems on and off. Months went by and had another service call. Same issue. Fixed it again. 2014 again same problem. We have to order a new latch and some other part. They could not get the part. Called Maytag directly and they were back ordered. What does that tell you. This is a major problem so much so that no one anywhere had the parts. 6 wks to finally get it and got it fixed. But in the meantime, the dryer was not working correctly. The clothes were damp and lint was all over. It was like a steam bath. They came out and when they looked at the back of the dryer it was burnt. Now this is what upset me. He said it could have caught fire and burnt down our house. Nice. The dryer was shot. They said to fix it would cost more than it was worth. Our warranty gave us a new dryer. 3 wks later I have my washer and dryer back working. In the meantime we have spent more time at the laundromat than at home. Brand new washer and dryer and are going to the laundromat. We had the dryer 5 days before it stopped working. Brand new dryer. Called and got a service call. The spring on the start button was not correctly put in. Who inspects these products. This was not right from the factory. So they fix it. Said if it happened again they would need to replace the entire thing. I do not know what that means. That was Dec. End of Dec. the washing machine is not running through the cycle. It had weird display on the washer. Thought maybe it was overloaded. Had to cancel and drain and then hit drain and spin. This takes not only more time but more electricity. I put in 2 sheets and it did it again. Had a few loads that ran properly and again it started. Called for service. He comes out and the motor that runs the belt to spin and some circuit board is shot. They call 2 days later and say that no parts can be found anywhere. WTH! It is 18 mos old and already the parts are extinct. So the warranty company said it was not worth fixing. They are giving us a new washer.I remember the commercials about Maytag that the repairmen had nothing to do. Well I thought it was because they did not break down. No... they cannot find parts. This is unacceptable. We have to go through the inconvenience of them not working and schlepping to the laundromat baskets of clothes. In the winter this is not fun. We are retired. Have to walk down icy steps. I have a washer/dryer upstairs and I cannot use them. Dont work. Not just the aggravation of dealing with repairs but not getting parts available, then having to wait to get money back to order a new washer and dryer and then get the dryer and 5 days later it doesnt work. Now we have to wait 2 wks for a new washer. It better work. Have to buy the warranty over again on each product cause they fulfill it when they buy you a new product. So this costs us extra money. The money we pay at the laundromat. The cost of electricity every time we have to run the washer 3-4 times to get it to spin out the water so I can dry them.To say I am upset is an understatement. I was told by a rep at Lowes, well Maytag has about 3 lemons a yr and you just got all of them. That was their consolation to our problem. I think Maytag needs to inspect their product. Our house could have burnt down. It is not a matter of parts going bad but damn the stuff is not even 2 yrs old. And the dryer was 5 days old when it stopped working. WE had a Maytag dishwasher and it was installed brand new and did not work. It had a defect in it. I never got to wash one dish in it and it had to be repaired. So I am not happy with Maytag. You go on Facebook and tell your story and all the Maytag horror stories come out. You need to do something to save yourself. Your company name is going down the tubes. Thought you should know this.
I purchased my microwave in 2012 and have had to have numerous repairs, mostly with the open/close door switch error. It is now 2018 and I see that the same problem is still occurring! Maytag obviously hasn’t read or doesn’t care that this problem has existed for years and they choose to do nothing about it. This past week when I had the microwave running, the beep went off indicating the popcorn was done but when I opened the door the microwave was STILL running! I thought it was a fluke but it happened again. Tonight the open/close door error once again appeared on the display. Having already had this repaired to the tune of over $150, not to mention the danger of a microwave running when the door is open, I called a mayday on the Maytag! I decided enough is enough and went out and purchased a new microwave... Obviously NOT a Maytag. The dangerous inoperable Maytag microwave is in the garage waiting for trash pickup.
I reviewed lots of reviews, and decided that the negative reviews ones were sour grapes or uninformed customers! WRONG! Do not buy this washer. I replaced a 16 year old Frontloader Bosch! Should have had the Bosch repaired, but wanted a topload for a change, new look etc. From day 2 the washer began to squeal during the early cycle and at the end as well. Maytag repair was out for an unrelated repair on another appliance. I told the tech about it and he suggested its brand new etc, give it time to settle in.Now 4 months in and another service call to tell me its nothing!! It squeals so loud I can not run it while in the next room. I have videoed it and sent it to the Maytag repair in Glenwood Springs, and he said I should load it only full enough to see the impeller at all times!!!! Forget a full load of work clothes or a pillow or blanket. Which is to be expected to be able to wash. He said I needed to spread the clothes out manually along the outer sides of the TUB only, prior to washing the clothes! not over the impeller. I am not kidding! This is a open tub, so the impeller is the little thing in the middle on the bottom. I advised him, I videoed the event and even with three socks in it for a test it still squeals like a (well you get the idea). Trying to get Maytag help, but nowhere. Matching dryer door hinge broke first week, it has been repaired. Not good quality at all for the top of line Maytag. Then Maytag Man must be busier these days, than of old.
I have a 2-year-and-5-day-old frontloader washing machine. The bearing and axle broke. The repair is over $500.00. It appears to be a known problem, as Maytag knew exactly what was wrong from the description of the noise it makes. They knew all the parts that would be needed. They would send the parts but not help with the labor. Evidently, it is a two-person job requiring several hours. They are not consumer-friendly and do not seem to care that the company reputation is going bad fast.
It has all the features we like and use every day. Timer, lights, fan, built-in Above stove, use minutes or preprogrammed Turntable, quiet, white in color, easy cleaning. Easy to replace filter and light.
I purchased my 10kg commercial Maytag dryer in March 2015 and started using it in May 2015. Within two months the heater had broken. I contacted the people I bought it off and it turned out I had to contact Whirlpool. It took them 8 weeks to get my dryer going again. The dryer broke down again in November. This time it was a sensor. Again I had to contact Whirlpool, it took them three weeks to get it going again. Being a care home the dryer is essential to our business. We were led to believe when we took out the extended warranty that the dryer would be fixed within a week. I will never purchase a Maytag again or anything to do with Whirlpool.
I purchased this washer on 5-25-15. It was delivered on 6-2-15. It worked for 11 days. On the 13th, I called Maytag and made an appointment for it to be fixed. They said a technician would be out on the 16th to fix it. I got a call on the 15th saying the part they needed was not released yet so they would be out on the 23rd. The guy comes on the 23rd and diagnoses the problem. He says the machine has a bad motor and shock of all shocks. He doesnt have the part to repair it. They originally assumed it was something else and were wrong. Fantastic. He said he would be back on the 30th. I got a call on the 29th saying that, once again, the part needed to fix it was not released and that they would call me to make another appointment when it was available. I had enough. I originally purchased with Home Depot and called my original salesman. He told me he would replace the washer with any brand I wanted (I paid the difference in cost of course) but I was still relieved that he was willing to work with me. I ended up going with an LG. Lets hope that one works. I have 2 kids and have been having to go to the laundromat. I have to say that I loved the machine for the 11 days it worked! I would probably still have it if they had better customer service but Im not going to continue to put up with them not having whats needed to fix this thing.
We purchased our Maytag dishwasher less than a year ago and are very disappointed with the poorly designed quality of this product. We had a Maytag repairman look at our dishwasher and he told us that; the dishwasher cleans with enzymes in the dishwasher not water pressure, and we need to make sure the water in the kitchen faucet need to be hot before starting the dishwasher, we also need detergent, rinse aid, and citric acid added to each load. Adding all these products to the dishwasher does not fix a poorly designed product. This product does not clean the dishes, even with rinse aid the glasses come out cloudy. The dishwasher has a power blast button, it does not clean the dishes any better than the regular setting and it runs for four hours. We will never buy another Maytag product.
Warranty dept. will not help you! I have been told by technicians sent to service my refrigerator after it spoiled food multiple times from not staying cold. The technician flat out told me that this refrigerator cannot be fixed but they are not allowed to say that it cannot be fixed. They will not return your calls and are just flat out rude. After asking to escalate a call, the rep said the manager will call me right back in a few minutes. Hours went by and I called again five minutes before they closed to speak to someone in management at that moment. This manager told me with no hesitation that they dont always believe what their technicians say because they send out techs that are good, okay, and not good. My first question is why is Maytag confident in the people they are sending to my house time and time again that stay for three hours?! She began to get rude and disrespectful and said, Well, if you had cancer, you wouldnt believe the first thing they say... I am in awe of these remarks. How do you compare a refrigerator to cancer?! I asked for a business address and stated that I would like the address to file with the Better Business Bureau and she told me that they have all the info I need. She refused to let me speak to anyone else. This situation is uncalled for when I have the technician telling me, This refrigerator is not repairable but they wont allow me to say that and Maytag will not make this an easy process for you. Unbelievable!
Maytag Bravos Automatic Washer 300 - I purchased this washer on July 29, 2010 from HH Gregg. It is less than 3 years old. The washer stopped mid-cycle, did not drain, and displayed the code Ld. The service company recommended by Maytag said that the control panel is defective, and the cost to repair/replace it is over $550 and isnt worth fixing since, he says, these washers are notorious for having problems. Maytag is unwilling to recall this washer despite all of the problems that have been reported. They are unwilling to even admit there is a problem.
Had some extra time, so I thought Id add my .02 to those including myself disgusted with Maytag products! 1st up, the Maytag washer and dryer I purchased from my nephew after his divorce. The washer shot craps 2 months after I bought it from him (out of warranty of course!). The transmission went out - cost to repair $550.00. My nephew paid $350.00 new at Sears. We happened to have our ol reliable clanking GE, so we used that while deciding what to do about the washer. In the meantime, the dryer quit heating. Cost to replace heating element - 400 smackers! Dryer new at Sears was $250.00.Come to find out that even though they had Maytag names on the washer/dryer, they were cheap copies by White/Westinghouse. Well anyway we bought a set of Whirlpool Duets before doing our homework, cuz if we knew what was gonna happen... Before we knew the trouble we were going to have with the washer/dryer, we got a Maytag Quiet Series 300 dishwasher (Maytag Quiet Series 300 MDBTT60AWW). Yip, the control panel failing problem! Only purchased 1 so far (only 1?!), but my wife likes to hand wash the dishes. If we were the typical family using the dishwasher all the time, I would have replaced more than 1 at a cost of $135.00 each from Sears and doing my own R&R work, saving on the labor. Cost new at Lowes - $350.00Up next is the Maytag fridge. I purchased it back when our 2 boys were at home. I bought it mainly for the name and large capacity. After about a year (yip out of warranty) the cooling was very uneven. Sometimes the freezer would defrost by itself, then it would start working ok again. The top couple of racks in the fridge would be quite a bit warmer than the bottom. I understood the top racks would be a little warmer, but Im talking like 15 degrees. I called a repairman and told him about the problem. He said hes received numerous complaints on this particular fridge, and theres really no way to repair it unless the electronics are replaced as well as the compressor because as the compressor gets weak over time, the electronics get fouled up by this. Cost new - $1300.00. Estimate over the phone cost to repair - $950.00 with no guarantees. Replaced with a SamsungAs far as the Duets? No problems so far. They work great and we are very pleased by them. But I have did my research and am holding my breath! I also have a Maytag microwave thats still working, but has did a couple of unusual things - the lights in the front panel display started flashing showing a fault. I unplugged it when its did this to reset it. That was a while back and now it seems ok. At least for now! When someone says, Yeah, well, you might just have a lemon, but the rest of Maytags appliances are fantastic! My wife and I when we hear this are ready for a fight! Weve had experience with all of Maytags products, and with the exception of the Duets (so far), they are nothing but junk!! Another thing I wish to mention is the Samsung fridge. Its about the only model that has a factory 5-year warranty on the compressor and major components. Weve had several fridges in our married life, and the Samsung is far superior to any fridge weve owned. Ill be looking to that brand in the future. The last item I promise: If you read the reviews on front load washers, none of them get very good ratings. If I would have know that, I may have purchased a top load. But the Duet washer does do a superior job (IMO) cleaning the clothes, and the clothes are virtually dry after the last spin.
Maytag gas range 5 burners. Maytag is quality. Period. I doubt that other brands are made as well. From the handle of the oven door to the ease of cleaning the burners, you wont find better for the price. I look for quality and reliability. I read reviews. A deal breaker on any major purchased would be too many bad reviews and shoddy materials or construction. This range has 3 regular burners, one large burner and one small burner. The oven shelves easily adjust from one level to another. The controls are easy to reach and the timer and bake controls are easy to operate.
This is the worst washing machine I have ever had in my life. Machine started bouncing during the wash cycle and also the spin stopped. Never in my life have I had a machine fail on me like this one. I spent a lot of money on this. This machine should be recalled. I read up on all the complaints. Its a model #Tw6600TQ0.
Maytag MHWE450 washer - Purchased this front load washer/Dryer and pedestals 12-1-2011. The bearings are so loud when it spins that you cant hear anything. You have to replace the whole tub to fix it with no directions anywhere on how to do it. I had a Maytag top load washer for 15 years before this. They worked perfectly when I sold them. I thought these would be a great purchase for a lot longer than 2 years.
The steam/heat produced by the oven has made the electronic (digital) control panel buckle. Yes! This is a thousand-dollar (plus) stove, and it has warped, through no fault of mine. When I want to cook something, I press the keypad to enter the number of cooking degrees that I want. The problem is, the control board is not working correctly. Regardless of my typing in 350, it will default to 100 degrees and stay at 100.As a teacher, I do not have a huge income. I was disgusted with my recent repair estimate of $80 for a service call, and a quote of over $600 for the replacement part, plus some not-yet-determined labor installation costs. Calling the 800 phone number for Maytag connected me to some local people working as independent and overpriced contractors in Los Angeles, California. They are not MAYTAG employees, so they are not well-informed about the product.I miss the time when manufacturers stood by their products, and had factory-trained and authorized employees available to make repairs. I bought this monster Maytag stove from Lowes. I am disgusted with both companies. I have gone online to research buying my own part and hiring a local yokel to put it in. Most everyone I have encountered has been a rip-off artist. I am teaching your kids and grand kids to read and write, and you dont want to help me repair my stove without price-gouging. I can use the burners to some stove-top cooking. Life has become a hassle without being able to cook.
Under class action suit in 8/2005, Maytag repaired my Neptune washer by replacing motor conversion kit. 6 yrs later the washer is having same problems as had originally; we asked Maytag just to replace the motor drive again ($190.00 part). They refuse, although this motor drive had identical life span to the one they replaced. It seems the replacement part was not new and improved, it only lasted as long as the original. Only now, we are past the class action suit deadline by years.
Washer does not clean very well, clothes are left with spots. The water level is never comparable to the clothes thats in the machine, it causes me to lose a lot of water as well as detergent. This machine is the worst washer we have owned. Its also very noisy.
My washer is new, out of warranty, and about 2 and a half years old. All of a sudden, with no warning or previous issues, the computer board in the washing machine malfunctioned which caused a humming noise, it would not cycle into the next wash phase, the time would go up instead of down, I could not change cycles, and when I would push the power button there would be a delay of power coming on. I unplugged and called my local appliance repair and he said he sees problems with this model regularly, although not always the same issues. Before purchasing I scoured the internet for reviews on different units to make sure I didnt get a lemon. I think Maytag saw the error of their ways quickly and stopped making these before people caught on. This model is no longer being made. I like matching units, so it meant either shell out $500 for replacing the board, or replacing both the washer and the dryer that still works, which would be about $1200 or more for a new set. I chose the least expensive route for now. Not that it matters where I bought mine, but Home Depot and it was on clearance so it was a good price. I have now made up for that difference in repairs.
Maytag Bravo Washer and Dryer - We are usually review writers. I just felt it was our duty to help others save their hard-earned dollars and not purchase this product. We have owned this expensive and highly researched set for a bit over 2 years. We have had to have repairmen out a half dozen times for dryer repairs. The washer was purchased with the largest tub because I wanted to be able to wash a full load of sheets or a blanket. NOT!!! It gets off balanced, twists every single item (as in blue jeans, towels, soft t-shirts, etc...any weight or size) into a huge mess and has actually ruined some of my clothing. The dryer gives me error messages all the time. I am beyond words with my disappointment. We saved a long time for this set and now are absolutely stuck for a long time before we can replace. You know Maytag my message to you is that hard-working people used to trust your company name. I have been married 43 years and we keep our purchases for many years. I have never in all these years been so disappointed in the huge purchase we made thinking it was a lifetime investment. Now I am doing everything I can to save this year so maybe can replace it down the road as soon as we can. I am telling you people reading this... DO NOT BUY THIS SET. IT IS A TOTAL WASTE OF YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY.
Stove does not heat evenly in oven. Electric burner cannot be turned down to low or simmer, then it will not cook at all. Other burner turned down to low does not stop bubbling and stays at a high temp. There is no consistency. I am extremely disappointed and curse at this stove every day. Model #MER7664XB. Serial #R13316302.
We purchased all Maytag home appliances when our home was remodeled about five years ago. After the first year, the microwave had to be replaced because it malfunctioned. The dishwasher stopped working in the third year, and now, my refrigerator (model# mf12568AEB) wont cool. The technician told me that all of the Freon had leaked out because of a design flaw. Moisture had gotten into the compressor, and with the cost of repair or replacing the compressor, I would probably be better off buying a new refrigerator, preferably not a Maytag.
I am writing for your assistance with an ongoing problem that I am having with my Maytag Series 2000 front-loading clothes washing machine. I am, frankly, astonished and frustrated beyond any means of coping with the response I have gotten from Maytag about the lemon washing machine that was sold to me. As I have never before had any sort of reason to complain about any major appliance purchase (nor about any car or house purchase), I’m not yet sure of what avenues are available to me. It seems prudent to inquire of your office before getting a private attorney to help me with this. The following is my situation:First of all, I am asking for a replacement washing machine. I am clearly saddled with a lemon. On or around December 2010, we purchased the Maytag Series 2000 washing machine from Cedar Appliance of Medford, MA. Within the first several months, the washer started ripping, shredding, and putting holes in our clothes. This did not happen during every wash cycle, just sometimes. At the time, we didn’t know if it was the washer or the (also new) Maytag dryer that was causing it. After living with this for some time, we decided to call Cedar Appliance for service. Cedar came out several times to look at the machines and they couldn’t tell what machine was causing the holes. Eventually, I started examining every article coming out of the washer to determine which machine was causing the problem. Over time and many visits later, Cedar Appliance referred us to L.A.R. Service of Wakefield MA, which they called Maytag service.L.A.R. Service came out and looked at it. They said that we were missing a part. They ordered the part and installed it and said everything should be fine. They also sold us an extended service contract. I am still having the exact same problem with the machine. Today I called L.A.R. and they told me that I had to call Cedar to get an authorization for service. I called Cedar and they told me to call Maytag. I called Maytag and after spending an inordinate amount of time recalling the details, the service representative told me that I could pay up front for an extended warranty and they would send someone out. I asked for a supervisor. I got Kitty. Kitty told me that Maytag would not replace my machine, which is clearly a lemon because I hadn’t yet had enough service done on it. I explained that I have spent hours calling for service, scheduling service, waiting for service, supervising service, and paying for service. She explained that on only one service call did they install new parts, so I needed more service. So, I should have demanded new parts on each of these service calls so that I would have earned some credibility for my lemon machine? The fact is that my family and I have lost hundreds of dollars on torn and ruined clothing caused by a new washing machine! After the boot was installed, or replaced (I’m not sure exactly what was done), we are experiencing the exact same problem. When the L.A.R. Service people left last time, they told me the problem was solved. It wasn’t. This is not normal. This is a lemon machine. Its one thing to have clothes destroyed, but what is extra frustrating is that I never know when the machine is going to destroy an article of clothing. This past Friday, we were preparing to go out of town for our daughter’s basketball tournament. I took the clothes out of the washer on Friday evening to discover that one of the blue uniforms was destroyed. There was no time to replace the uniform and my daughter was out of luck. This means that I cannot put an article of clothing into the washer that I absolutely have to have. I can’t live this way. This is a relatively new washer that should last 20 years. Right now, I can’t wash any important article of clothing. I’ve been told before that it was all set. Kitty has L.A.R. coming again this Wednesday to repair the machine. What am I supposed to do when it’s repaired? Put a uniform jersey in it? This is a very brief description of the experience I have had over the past 1.5 years with this new machine. The hours, money, disappointment, and utter frustration is more than I can describe in an email. I have attached three photos of recently destroyed items. Unfortunately, I threw away tens of items several months ago when L.A.R. fixed it.Is this unbelievable? Or are my expectations too high? Is this really what Maytag/Whirlpool has in mind for customer service? Is this really what they mean by standing behind their products? Why wouldn’t or why shouldn’t Maytag replace this machine? How much more time, money, and tears is a customer expected to spend and endure? How do I regain peace of mind and quality of running a household? Am I supposed to toss this machine and buy a new one? Believe me, that’s what I will have to do if I can’t get relief on this problem. There is no way that I can go many more months with this headache. In many ways, buying a brand new machine would be worth the peace of mind, but I am trying to make sure that my family, as consumers, are treated properly. It is also the principle of the thing. Please advise on any remedies available to me here in Massachusetts and please let me know what additional details should be provided and to whom.As an aside, Maytag/Whirlpool does not seem to be doing well with their reputation on the internet regarding customer service.
Belt broke in inside under tub after 13 months $150. Now another year and I am getting an error message F51 and it stops washing. Im done. Old Maytag lasted 14 years. This is done in 2. Im not paying any more to have it fixed for whatever F51 is. Im cutting my losses now. Hate this machine the way it washes anyway. Always feel like its gonna take off for Mars to join Matt Damon. HA. I try to laugh to stop being mad. Dont buy these. It gets no stars. And after reading other reviews, it deserves none. Shame on this company! Ugh, its making me put a star rating. But I say none.
Our refrigerator is just 2 years old and it have been leaking for over a year. It started leaking right when the warranty expired. I am so mad. I called them and they said... You can purchase a warranty for $400. I am like.... what!!! I called my home warranty and they fixed it for $100. A few months later it is leaking again! I am so mad... It is a $1200 refrigerator. What can we do as a group to fight for this? There have to be something that we can do?? It is so frustrating. If there is an attorney that can take care of this group that would be great.
I had a GE washer and dryer when I first moved to my new home - lasted 15 years. Then... bought a set of Maytag and they have both been the biggest pain in the world. Spent 3000 and Im ready to toss them after 3 years. Dont buy Maytag!!!
I Hate this machine. It does an inferior job and I wish I never bought it. Our Bravos XL washer was purchased in spring. It left white residue constantly on my clothes. Even WORSE, the machine wrinkled the permanent press so the clothes had to be ironed before wearing. (I rarely had this with my last washer). I used the machine settings correctly and I called the company and basically...was told, Youre out of luck. I hoped that it would improve but No Way! Dont purchase this machine, dont waste your $$$.
We have had 2 Maytag dishwashers only last less than 2 years. Since we can only have a portable because of owning an older home the expense is too much anymore. We also had a Maytag Neptune clothes washer last only 2 1/2 years. We had always respected Maytag and trusted them. That trust is gone. It is too expensive to buy and lose them after barely 1 1/2 years. We had a Kenmore that lasted 23 years. I dont know what company to trust anymore. The one we just had quit working a month ago was purchased October 3013. Maytag dishwasher Model #MCD4809PAW2 Serial #F34003436.
Maytags reputation for quality is gone. Our Neptune washer has had mold, door lock seized up and wouldnt open, and now our dryer drum is cracked. Exaggerating your products reliability is one thing - this borders on corporate fraud.
WORST MACHINE EVER! Besides the soap scum Maytag Bravos XL Washer leaves on all of our jeans and my husbands work pants, the machine decides when it wants to work and when it does not want to work. Weve had repairmen over, we have called the 800 numbers, just like all of the other reviews on here. Ive readjusted clothes in that thing more than Ive done laundry in my life!!! I HATE this machine. Ive memorized the manual from reading it so many times, have the correct detergents, tried washing large loads, small loads, lined up the clothes around the outside so the middle thingie is not covered, thrown clothes loosely in there. Every way possible. The machine senses, starts filling, then just stops. Today, no matter what I do with the load in there, it will NOT run, it keeps shutting itself down and I do not even know what else to do. NEVER EVER EVER buy this machine! We will never own another Maytag EVER.
Bought this (Maytag Washer MVWB955FC1) on 1/8/18, was delivered late in January as it was on back-order. On 4/30/18, during a cycle, the washer made a pop sound. There was glass everywhere. The glass had shattered and exploded onto the floor and washer. The glass is on the inside of the drum and all over the clothes. Contacted Maytag and they sent out a repairman the next day. Repair said there is a point of impact indicated I dropped something on it. NOTHING was dropped on it. There is a point of impact, from the inside. The glass is pushed up and out indicating pressure from INSIDE the washer.Repairman says its not covered under warranty and that I had to pay for his time as well. He also said there are no known issues with this lid and washer. The lid is out of stock and wont be available for a while. I called Maytag and they gave me the same response, never heard of this.. and lid is out of stock. I found SEVERAL reviews/complaints in which, for the exact same model, this has happened to other people. This glass lid is dangerous and poses a serious safety risk to households that contain it. If they replace the lid, there is no guarantee this will not happen again. A child could walk by the washer and at any moment the glass lid could explode, send tiny shards of glass everywhere. I want a refund for this dangerous washer.
I purchased my Maytag and Im not happy. There is agitator in center and it seems to always tangle up my clothes and has torn several garments. And there is no fabric softener compartment but there is the one for bleach. If I had to do over again I would have several compartments for bleach and softener, and no agitator in center. But I made the purchase and it does clean the clothes but they usually in a ball when and tangled when complete.
