FIX: A power failure occurred while the dryer was running. Press Start to continue the cycle or press Stop to clear the display. If this code frequently appears, check the power cord and replace it if it's damaged.

FIX: Unplug the dryer for 5 minutes and the plug the dryer back in. If the code reappears, replace the main electronic control board.

PROBLEM: User interface keypad failure 
FIX: A stuck button on the user interface control board causes this code. If you can't free the stuck key, replace the user interface control board.

Purchased a Maytag dishwasher (Model #MDB7749SAW1) in January of 2013, installed in February. A little over a year later the control panel went out. I called Maytag and they were kind enough to pay for the part and I had to pay for the service. Now it is July of 2015 and the control panel is going out again. I called Maytag directly and talked with a service representative and the best they could do for me was for $269.95 they would have it fixed and I would have a one year warranty as well. Based on the pattern the warranty is not going to help as it goes out just after a year. For only having it 2 1/2 years it is becoming a very expensive dishwasher. There should be a recall on this control panel. Very disappointed.

I have had this refrigerator for less than 3 years. It recently started leaking water on the floor and all over the bottom of the freezer. Repairman said it is a flaw with the defrost drain design. He thinks Maytag MIGHT have changed it since I purchased mine, but I dont know. Originally they used this small rubber valve;repairman said they get clogged very easily (even though I vacuum around it regularly and dont have any pets). He replaced that part with something sturdy that looks like a p trap. I looked online and there are loads of complaints about this exact issue with the defrost drain clogging. It cost $250 to have it repaired. I called Maytag to ask to be reimbursed and of course they will not do anything since it is out of warranty. Its a shame Maytag wont stand behind their products. Since there are so many of us with this issue, cant something be done?

Its a lose-lose situation for the consumer, as the cost of parts and labor for the repair equals or eclipses the replacement cost of a new unit.Another fine example of the degradation of an American brand, once known for quality and reliability. Dont be fooled by the branding. Buyer beware!

I just went to the local wholesale guy after almost 8 months of using this POS, and spent $200 on a older agitator machine, after the first load my 7 year old close came clean of dirt! There is literally no water and the motion of the drum, it is almost impossible for this machine to clean clothes. I really am surprised that no one has started a class action. And to anyone saying the are hog farmers and work outside and get dirty? I would love to see it first hand. I am going to post on YouTube and show what this machine really does. Think about this before you buy, We all get hooked on how big it is, thinking you can do 4 loads at once, but trust me the low water thing is real! How do you clean clothes with no water! You will regret this purchase. And I am a Maytager for life! So disappointing.

Faulty Maytag MDB8969 Dishwasher - BEWARE! Whirlpool, Jenn-Air, Amana, Maytag, KitchenAid... Are all brands that fall under Whirlpool. According to Better Business Bureau statistics there is less than 1 chance in 10 that you will get the Whirlpool product you are expecting! We purchased a new Maytag dishwasher at the end of 2016. Within a couple of weeks the dishwasher began failing: discharge pumps, heating elements, soap dispensers, door leaks, faulty racks, rinsing problems... Since purchasing the machine we have had to make 7 different service calls, all under warranty. The warranty service providers have been good but the machine has been a catastrophe, having been out of commission for several of the 18 months since being installed, and causing serious water damage to our kitchen floor (based on several other negative reviews this leaking is not an uncommon occurrence).A few months into owning the machine, after our 3rd service call, we contacted Whirlpool, Customer Service and asked for the machine to be replaced. They refused to replace the machine but extended our warranty free of charge- better than nothing but not a cure to the problem and the only remedial action that Whirlpool was willing to offer. We didnt understand at that point that the problem of faulty and defective Whirlpool products was probably so huge that Whirlpool could not afford to provide a reasonable solution to their customers; leaving many, as witnessed on various product review sites, to bear the extreme frustration and associated expenses borne from the incurred failures. Unfortunately, here we are once again, requesting our 7th service call in less than 18 months, and asking once again for a replacement.The Whirlpool response this time (CSR was not allowed to let us speak to her Supervisor in spite of trying to negotiate that for several minutes) was that they would not replace the defective machine but would sell us a new $850 machine for $250 and would dispose of the faulty machine for an additional $25. Whirlpool would not however pay for the uninstall of the faulty unit nor the install of the new unit (about $350) which would have to come out of our pocket. We won’t be spending the additional $600 to fix this problem as proposed by Whirlpool; we won’t be installing another Maytag product in our home. We were advised that we could fill out a form if we wanted, to try and claim for the damages which the dishwasher caused to our kitchen floor. The form was never emailed as agreed and now we are just really tired of the whole experience so will simply put this all behind us.Our Whirlpool experience has been extremely stressful and quite expensive. It is clear to us that if an appliance which is averaging a serious failure every 3 months since the first day of installation, does not in the opinion of Whirlpool warrant a full and prompt replacement, or even the direct telephone attention of a Customer Service Supervisor, that the Whirlpool quality standard must be so low, the failure frequencies so high, that the number of similar failures prohibits any commercial viability to manage the problems in a reputable manner. Whirlpool clearly has some very large problems. It would not have been easy to destroy the once highly respected Maytag name. Such degradation could only take place as a result of continuous and ongoing Whirlpool quality degradation. We will no longer be their ‘crash test dummies’ but I do hope for the sake of Whirlpool (apparently North American made) that they take ownership of their poor quality condition, realign and spend the next few years becoming the company that we all once knew and respected.

We purchased the Maytag Bravos XL Washer and Dryer based on the good reviews. This has been the worst appliance purchase we have ever made. The washer had to be replaced on the 3rd day after it was installed due to a motherboard issue. The washer constantly has the UL error code so I cannot leave the house if I am going to wash any clothes - I readjust all the clothing in the washer; however, there is no rhyme or reason to the UL code - just made workmanship.We also have had many issues with the dryer as well. Our clothes stopped drying, the clothes had a mildew smell and the lint was wet even though we religiously clean out the lint element. We researched and found this was a common issue. The belt comes off on these dryers; apparently it happens quite often. We fixed it ourselves - twice- by watching a YouTube video. Now our dryer catch (latch) doesnt work and we have to repair that as well.It is obvious from all the complaints that both of these Maytag machines that there should be a class action lawsuit at this point in time. I will NEVER purchase a Maytag or Whirlpool product - EVER. Whenever anyone asks me for a recommendation I tell them to stay FAR FAR away from both Maytag and Whirlpool products since they are unreliable, have terrible workmanship and the company will not do the right thing and fix the issue and provide refunds to those that have purchased these terrible machines. A washer and dryer is a big investment and should last more than a couple of years. I never had issues with my Kenmore or GE products and wish I still had them. DO NOT PURCHASE ANY PRODUCTS MANUFACTURED BY MAYTAG OR WHIRLPOOL. EVER.

First, it stopped working within eight months after we paid over 1300 for washer and master protection agreement. We called over and over from that day and was told we didnt show in their system as owning one and that we didnt get the master protection agreement. This went on and on until they finally told us on 8/2010 that they finally did find us in the system and that the agreement had ended a year before and would send someone (that was on 8/31/10) to do the washer. After having sat for almost six years, it reset itself and worked that day. I told the guy from A&E that it was the computer but that wasnt what he replaced so the washer went right back on in a month. So we had to save to have someone else come out from A&E to charge us 143.10 to say it would cost a total of 310.51 for the computer and that it probably wouldnt work for too long.

Having had a household for over 40 years we have had a few washers come and go. I hate to say it but this line of washers should go. Worst pile of junk parts I have seen. Bought it from Costco a few years ago based on past histories of Maytags. Was I ever so wrong. It has never worked well. I chalked it up to being Water Efficient but after reading over 8 pages of scornful reviews, I was mistaken. Water level is always too low to do anything so clothes are needing rewashed. Have reverted to using the Bulky setting to do general washing as that fills the tub about 1/4 of the way. Then the spin cycles stops due to unbalanced load and loud banging of the wash drum, EVERY LOAD!!! And now for the past month Code DL pops up saying it is taking too long to drain. I have checked all hoses for blockages, none seen. And with the glass top, you can SEE the washer NOT WORKING right. We have a door on the laundry room and even with it closed the volume is over 70 dB and can overpower most conversations in our family room 20 feet away. I have been told that Costco may take it back but why punish Costco members for a design failure of Maytag??? Has anyone thought about a Class Action Lawsuit? The Bravos Quiet Series 400 dryer match to this washer has so far been flawless. I may have to dig the 20 year old Whirlpool washer out of the storage shed to replace this Maytag. Sad. I want to state my true feelings but I will not use profanity here.

After 2 years, I disagree in that it offers no better outcome than the much older machine I replaced. Furthermore the dryer cuts off leaving my clothes damp every single time, which I cannot stand. Then on August 18, 2012, the same thing happened. A serviceman was called for the second time, and was repaired. Ironically, the Maytag 1- year warranty was expiring on August 24.Prior to the expiration of the Maytag warranty, I had been contacted by mail about an extended warranty plan, which I thought was being offered by Maytag, which it wasnt. The offer was being made by Federal Warranty Service Corporation. I purchased a 5-year extended warranty, expiring on August 25, 2017, the reason to have coverage for what seems to be a faulty machine. I would probably need it.Dealing with Federal Warranty has been nothing but grief. In 2012, the washing machine, had required 3 service calls, one with a Supervisor explaining my frustration with the number of service calls I have had made for the washing machine, but nothing has changed. Thus far in 2013, I have made two (2) additional calls for service on the same washing machine. Not only are there the numerous service calls made but the inconvenience of not having a washing machine, and the additional costs for outside laundering, during that time has to be taken into consideration. Additionally, my wife is 68 years old, and Im 71 (72 in August). Going up and down the stairs to the basement isnt something we should be doing, especially to find an inoperable washing machine.

The gentleman came about a week or two later and said that the machine isnt worth fixing and to try to get Maytag to replace the whole machine, but he still listed all the parts that were needed to fix it. We tried calling Maytag and said what the repairman said but they said he must fix it and they will not provide a new one. So we wait for the parts and no one calls us. We follow up with Maytag and they say theyve ordered the wrong parts so it will take longer. We try calling the repair man and he doesnt call us back.Then call Maytag again and get them to call the repairman to see why he doesnt answer us. They told him to call us twice and every time he tells Maytag that hes called us and we dont pick up. So we tell Maytag hes lying, the repairman hasnt called us for weeks and Maytag doesnt give a **. And seems like this repairman is freaking lazy and doesnt want to work, even if hes paid for it. You know whats happening now? Chargeback! Thats right Maytag, screw you. When I do another house I will never buy Maytag again! Horrible service and a very defective product. I thought we were paying for quality!! They lost a customer that is faithful and doesnt mind paying extra. Hope everyone can take this into consideration before buying. I wish I wouldve seen these comments before...

So, I called the 1-800 number in the manual. I was told they would have a technician come out and check it, and they assured me it was under warranty. The technician arrived, and since it was close to the end of the warranty period, I showed him the receipt for purchase. I got another assurance that this visit was covered by the warranty, before anything was actually done. Well, he checked it out and eventually calibrated the temperature. That helped a little, but still, it doesnt brown very well. About a month later, I got an invoice from the service company that dispatched the tech telling me Maytag will not cover the visit under warranty. After a long call with Maytag (now Whirlpool, I believe), I was told that since the calibration instructions were in the manual, it wasnt covered! Well, why wasnt the thing calibrated to begin with? And your average customer is expected to have an accurate thermometer/gauge to set it and know whether the temp is off or not? Why was I told twice that it would be covered? If either the lady on the 1-800 line or the tech who came had told me this wasnt covered, I would have argued a case right then. As it turned out, I had no choice but to get billed for something I was assured was covered. And as I said, it still doesnt brown right; and we had tried different temperatures before. We are preparing a major kitchen remodel, and its hard to believe that Maytag/Whirlpool would so thoroughly piss off a customer and potential future customer over an $80.00 service call.

I purchased my first Maytag dishwasher and it was recalled as being a fire hazard. I was offered to have it repaired or pay for an upgrade (approximately $200). I chose to pay and upgrade because I dont want a fire hazard in my home. After my paid replacement, I received a recall on the new dishwasher regarding the same issue (different model) and I chose once again to pay and upgrade (thinking that if I spent $700, I wouldnt have a problem). In less than two months of installation, the dishwasher died in the middle of a cycle. Filled with water, I bailed it out and called Maytag. I told them that I wanted a new one and they told me that I was past the replacement period. They sent a service man out and he stated that it was a problem with model # MDB7709AWB2 and serial # F03002958. He said that it was easy to fix and said he had done it several times. So now, within less than 1 month before my warranty is expired, the dishwasher did the same thing--it died in the middle of the cycle and wont turn on. I called Maytag and they told me that they would send out a third party repair company (JD Appliance) but I would have to wait for four days. I contacted Maytag and said that I was concerned about the dishwasher breaking down again for the same problem (bi metal unit blew). This is the second time it happened. Jeremy, the repair man, said that the first replacement was not installed properly and they should have replaced the entire unit. He stated that it was a common problem with that model, as did the first repairman in Dec 2010. When I spoke to a supervisor named Kia at 800-344-1274, she stated that they had no known issues with this model. I said that it was not what the repairman told me as well as the Maytag dispatcher. They both said that the heat sensor (Bi Metal Thermal Unit Part No. W10258275) goes up and has to be replaced because it is overly sensitive. If you are out of warranty, it costs around $200 to have it fixed. I told Kia and she said that it was not documented in her file, therefore, it never happened. I want to know my consumer rights to address this issue. I have paid for (on 3 occasions) a new dishwasher and have continuous issues that cost me money. I want an assurance like an extended warranty, free of charge, for the dishwasher that has already been repaired twice for the same exact problem. I have the original part that was improperly replaced to prove that it wasnt replaced to specifications, therefore, blowing it again. I was told by Kia that Maytag does not compensate or replace their products unless deemed not repairable by the technician. It doesnt matter how many time the same problem occurs. I would appreciate your attention to this matter.

Took about 1 1/4 hours yesterday for 1 load using heavy which is the only setting that uses more than a thimble of water. Should have looked for a commercial type with a real agitator and adequate water usage. Not saying Maytag is probably any worse than any other brand of new efficiency government mandated garbage washer, but its no good.

With no warning, I heard a loud pop about 3 min into a cycle and overheating. If I hadnt been home might have caught on fire. I bought this product with confidence that it was a quality product. To say the least, I am very disappointed and I will never buy this brand again. My previous microwave lasted over 15 years without a single problem. The only reason that I got rid of it was to have matching appliances. It was not a Maytag. I see that this problem is going to repeat over and over again for the life of this unit, because of a poor design.The design fix will be to add a small heater (at the location where the ice creates the clog) actuated periodically by the control board, or at least with a manual push button for the user can easily remove press the button to melt the ice clogging the pipe. This is a cheap design which did not go through design validation and qualification.

Talked to a supervisor (Demetrius) who sounded like he did NOT want to be in that position. Offered no solution other than we will just have to wait. Threw a 3 month extension for the warranty on which still does not fix the problem. Sad to see this company go down the tubes as it was once a pretty decent business with solid products. No longer.

This model showed on Lowes website that it has a food grinder, but it cannot even get rid of a single kernel of corn that might get left on a plate. After a load is completely washed and you open the door, there is a strong smell of detergent. If you run an EMPTY dishwasher with NO soap it creates an abundance of suds like there is still soap all in the tub!!The repairman came out and called Maytag and they ran a diagnostic check on it and it said everything was okay. He said to run a cup of white vinegar through it and I did. It didnt help. Still lots of suds being produced when I run a cycle with NO dishes and NO soap!!! He said the food grinder doesnt actually grind or dispose of small particles of food, just grease!! What?!!!! We had to PAY $92 for the service call even though it is still under warranty just because the repairman and the Maytag guy on the phone couldnt figure out why this dishwasher is a hunk of junk!!!! Also, the top rack has clips on the side to lower and raise the rack. The outer sides of the top rack will only hold smaller glasses because these clips get in the way. I hate this dishwasher so much!!! My 18 year old Kenmore ran like a charm until Hurricane Harvey flooded our house. I will never buy a Maytag appliance again!!!

Maytag has always had a decent reputation, so we decided on this particular set.This washer was a terrible purchase decision. The drain hose had to be replaced due to leaking. We handled that fine. However, just past the extended warranty period, the main bearing went out. Also, the transmission was going out, and the washer was spewing nasty black fluid all over from underneath. The repair was going to be a minimum of $750.00 just for the bearing and tub assembly, and the repairman was honest and said it wasnt worth it, to just replace the washer. We didnt even discuss the transmission issue. We were more than a little disappointed in the duration of life out of this washer. I had my other washer for 20 years plus. Thankfully, and hopefully, the dryer will remain in good working order for some time.Being a senior, this was not the expected lifetime I was after out of a major appliance. I dont need this sort of expense every four years, or less as Ive read on these reviews. On average I do 2 to 3 normal sized loads of laundry a week at most. Not good Maytag, not good. If there ever is a class action suit in regard to these machines, Im interested!

The repairman came in and said that the top box that holds the electronic in it had fried wires and it would have to be replaced. So for $480, he could replace it. It was more than likely caused by a power surge. I just read that this also coincidentally happened to someone else so I find this cause to ask more questions. I also note that the top of the oven behind the burners where there is some sort of vent gets extremely hot (I accidentally touched it and had a blister the next day) when the oven is being operated. This is directly under the box that holds the electronic components. I would think that may have something to do with the wires frying since it is that hot directly below the panel. Could this be a defect in the building of the stove? Has anyone else had this instance beside the one person that I read about on your website?

I picked the set together and they dont have a lot of bells and whistles, simple to use and the washer is an HE. Cost was about $900 for the pair. I bought the washer and dryer in May of 2015. Models are simple to use. I have not had any problems and quite pleased with the work they do.I like to stick with a brand if it has served me well. Energy costs need to be low and I look for sales. Capacity is something I do not need a lot of, since it is just two I am washing for. Good quality is what I look for. I have not ever had paint chipping or rusting. Never had socks missing or a bad result with cleaning or drying. The washer has a cleaning cycle and the dryer is very easy to clean, the lint filter, and I get great results with no static when I take clothes out of the dryer.

The existing drainage tube kit in the appliance has a very tiny opening for the water to drain and what was not factored in during this manufacturing of the refrigerators was bacteria and dirt build up from the water draining to CLOG this very TINY opening in the existing drainage tube system. This results in the water having no place to drain except causing an ice build up in the freezer and then water draining onto the floor when it has no where to drain in the appliance. I am told by my reputable Maytag repairman, who also needed the same repair, that replacing the water tube drain #W10619951 occurs with customers 4-8 times PER WEEK in his practice. This is obviously an ONGOING defect that Whirlpool is IGNORING and needs to be addressed and corrected with some type of compensation for its customers. The service call and the replacement of the drain tube kit #W10619951 cost me $122.31. My Maytag refrigerator with a bottom freezer is less than 3 years old.Amazing also if you google MAYTAG refrigerator leaking water there is a MULTITUDE of youtube videos and websites instructing the consumer on HOW to replace this part in the refrigerator. Obviously there is a strong need for this instructional information to the consumer for this repair since it is an ONGOING PROBLEM that has not been addressed legally with manufacturer. Action needs to be taken. I am saving the original part that was removed from the appliance in case a class action remedy is necessary to correct this costly defect in the Maytag Refrigerators.

I have had nothing but issues with this washer right from the start. The clothes do not come clean as I find myself putting them through the wash cycle two or three times to have them washed and come somewhat clean. The clothes come out soaking wet that I have to put them through the rinse and spin cycle at least one or two more times. I called Lowe’s to complain about this washer and they said they only have a 30 day return policy and they would be happy to call for service for me. I told them it didn’t work from the start but they didn’t care. So now, sadly, I have a repairman coming this week to fix my new washer, And hopefully he can fix it that I can use it and it can properly wash clothes. I wish I would have her read the reviews on Consumer Affairs about this washer before purchasing this Maytag. Not happy with Maytag. I would have never bought it and bought a different brand. Codes appear on the face of the washer better. Nowhere in the manual that I had to personally download myself because it didn’t come with one. And oh did I mention that I need a step ladder to reach into the bottom of the tub? This washer should come yellow because it is definitely a lemon!

So whatever I call Dan Marc, they have no appointments Tom and wont make me an appointment. This is how a new product should work? I asked her what I do when it breaks again and again and the warranty is up. She told me they dont work on what ifs and if that time comes, it will be her decision. I would re distribute the clothes and sometimes that did the trick and others not so much. Now every load comes up UL. I tried putting the machine on the drain and spin cycle to at least get the clothes a little bit drier but the UL message still appears and the clothes are still soaking wet. I lifted the washer up and there is an oil/grease type spin pattern under the washing machine. I called Maytag today (which is now Whirlpool I guess) as the washer has a 10 year warranty on the drum and motor. I was told a service call is $129. When I mentioned that I had Googled the product and saw many reviews with the same exact problem, she stated the Bravos has no common complaints. From what Ive read, it seems to me it would be more cost effective to go out and buy a new washing machine and it obviously wont be another Maytag or Whirlpool.

I wrote several letters but the only thing that I received were applications for insurance to cover repairs. I should have received a replacement as it was bad from day one, but Maytag doesnt replace!!! Its been semi-reliable for the past several months, until early this year. It started jerking when it changed cycles, sounding as if the drum was hitting really hard against the sides. It has continued to do that regularly; now it wont function on the cycle its set on. It wont spin, sometimes the lid lock wont work. It starts filling when it should be draining. This evening, it stayed in the rinse cycle for 40 minutes and when I realized it was still rinsing I had to unplug it to get it stopped. It goes on and on, (and so could I out of frustration). The good name of Maytag has turned to trash, and when it leaves my home, no more Maytags!!! PS. The dryer we got with it takes at least 1 1/2 full cycles to dry a load, and since I couldnt get it to spin properly, Ill be lucky to get this last load dry in 2 to 2 1/2 cycles.

There are a number of settings to choose from, however, we tend to use it as more of a sanitizer so the light or normal wash are the preferred and dont use the heat-dry as we dont find it necessary. Very pleased with the quietness of the cycles and have no regrets with our purchase.

The clothes dont get clean and begin to smell stale shortly after theyve been washed. One year ago I bought a Maytag Micro-wave and a Maytag dishwasher - big mistake. I should have done some homework. I had problems with the dishwasher since the day it was installed. I should have suspected something was wrong when it was delivered. I opened my front door and there stood a deliveryman holding my dishwasher in his arms. He said, Where do you want it? I couldnt believe he could be carrying it by himself, especially since it took three of us to move out the old Thermador which by the way was still working just fine after almost 30 years. But my wife insisted on a new washer for her new kitchen. The Thermador was actually made of steel. The new Maytag was made of plastic even the motor. It had some steel and copper parts but mostly plastic. I dont think it weighed forty pounds. The problems began the first day with leaks through the door and under it. I suppose eight or nine service calls happened in the next 3 months. The factory service men were different each time and each had their own guess as to what caused the leaks. Over time they replaced all the parts that could be leaking some of them twice, because subsequent servicemen discovered that a previous service man had installed the wrong parts. We often had to wait several weeks because replacement parts were not on hand, and would be ordered and shipped directly to us. Then we would have to schedule another service call, only to find out the wrong parts came - more delays. One service man told us we were using the wrong detergent, even though it was the detergent and spot-free rinse that came with it. Another service man removed the door cover so he could watch to see where it was leaking when it operated. He said the soap was foaming too much and flooding over, so we had to try another brand of soap, even though by now we had accumulated three other brands that were just barely used. The service men never did fix the problem. It took much experimentation from my wife to stop the leaks, which meant we could only use a fraction of the recommended amount soap. By now we were using so little soap that the dishes always came out dirty. So our choice was mop up a wet floor or have dirty dishes every time. Most of the time now we wash the dishes in the sink. One service man said in Maytags effort to make the dishwashers more efficient, and less expensive to build that the motor and pump were way under powered, and everything was made from petro-chemical by-products (cheap plastic) and that we should invest in the extended warranty. Its cheaper than paying service calls when the warranty runs out soon. What we should have done was exchanged it for another brand. My wife said had she only known, we would have never replaced the old Thermador which will be my next dishwasher. As for the micro-wave there are many things I dislike about it especially the rectangle glass tray which is extremely awkward to remove and replace each time you have to clean out crumbs and spills which happen often. The timer on/off bell is way too quiet with no volume control. The message and operation display is difficult to understand. And to top it off the cheap plastic handle broke one week after the warranty ran out which I found out that its less expensive to buy a whole new door than pay for parts and a service call to repair handle. Maytags track record made me not want to deal with service dept. again. I will probably be money ahead to trash the two appliances, start over and do some homework and maybe buy a European made appliance. I know German technology is not all about profit making, but quality, reliability, durability. I hate to sound un-American but greed in American corporations will be their downfall.

The hot water setting dispenses hot water, then cold water, back and forth. The end result is cool water. Ive called Maytag, Ive been told that there is nothing that can be done about it, thats how theyre made to be considered HE. I asked them why they even put a hot or warm water setting on the washer.You have no control over the water level, all cycles except for normal run in a deep water setting (full drum of water), I dont know why delicates are in a deep water setting. I only wash a couple pieces of delicates together. I end up using a lot more water and detergent with this washer. I hope we dont have to conserve water in the next few years! So though this washer uses less hot water energy, it wastes a lot of water, my water bill goes up and my detergent is used up much quicker! I cannot add time to my wash cycle, (the actual washing/agitation cycle is very short - 10 minutes) it has to drain all of the water and re-start the cycle with more water! $800 is a lot of money for a washer that doesnt wash like my old cheap washer. The local store cant do anything about it and Maytag brushed me off.

My towels became sour after 1 or 2 uses (sometimes they smell sour even before use!). My dark clothes ALWAYS came out of the wash LOADED with lint. I researched online to determine whether these were common problems and found several sites with suggestions such as: dont use more than 1-2 spoons full of high efficiency detergent (which recommendation I followed), Use white vinegar or liquid fabric softener. (I tried both with only minimal results.) ALSO use a dryer sheet in the dryer (I did this but it seemed like a waste since I was already using fabric softener in the washer). Dont overload the washer. (I didnt, but if I couldnt fill it, then why did I buy a washer with such a large tub ?!) Clean the washer monthly. (I faithfully did so, and tried alternating Affresh and bleach to see if theres any difference in the result... not really. Make sure you are fully drying the towels (I ALWAYS DID!).We had a Sears repair technician come to the house the last time my frustration level was overflowing and she only made me feel like an idiot, repeating some of the above recommendations and insisting they would solve the problem -- which, if they had worked, would have precluded my need to call a repair technician!!! The repair technician provided no other service or ideas to fix the problems. My husband decided we should go back to the tried and true agitator-type washer... bye-bye, Maytag Bravos.

Did no good as soon as I hauled the washer home (3-hr trip one way). It wasnt washing my clothes clean. Hubby said try different cycles and soap and temperatures but at 8 months pregnant it wasnt long when I didnt fight with the machine but focused on a very busy life. Baby number 7 and I didnt care how the clothes washed as long as they didnt stink. Well baby is older, the warranty is not over and after much dialoging, no one will do anything for me. I put muddy pants in, they come out muddy. I put cloth diapers in, they come out smelling like pee. How hard can it be to come up with a machine that just turns clothes round and round with a little soap and water? Apparently really hard as Maytag failed to test this machine. Maybe city folk just have lightly soiled but on the farm with 7 kids, my kids play hard and their clothes are very dirty. They continue to stay dirty unless I wash them twice on Power Wash and Extra Heavy Load. Not impressed. Would like a replacement washer of equal or lesser value, anything that works. Oh P.S. I have the receipts and order number. Sorry its not put online to be verified buyer but dont feel like digging for paperwork at the moment.

I bought a $2000+ Maytag fridge Model # MFT2776FEZ00 in March of 2017 and have had numerous repair calls on it: Several for ice maker not make ice, ice freezing in the bucket into 1 big CHUNK, water running down front of door on the inside and outside, to not working at all and ice maker needing to be replaced. Several calls for fridge not properly cooling (temperature was set at 37 degrees F but the temperature in the fridge is 55 degrees F - per 2 thermometers), food is spoiling. The back inside of “Temp Controlled Pantry” is freezing everything and whole back wall behind the drawer is frozen with 1-2” of frost and ice. Defroster is not working and again parts being ordered to repair an obvious issue with this model.I contacted Maytag and their response was “sorry, we can document the problem.” They will do nothing more! These Appliance companies are ripping off the consumers! Everyone passes the buck! Repairman says, contact the Appliance store you purchased it from, Appliance store says, contact Maytag, Maytag says it’s the repair companys issue.

It looked great, the quality was and is terrible. The freezer stopped freezing a couple of days after the first year was up. The Maytag Bravos XL washing machine has a difficult time getting clothes clean. The glass top allows a person to watch the clothing being washed. After one watches this for 5 minutes, it is quite clear that the clothes are not being washed properly. Clothes frequently end up dirty at the end of the wash cycles. I personally believe the design of the agitator is so poor that it is not capable of moving the clothing around to come clean. The tub is a large 4.5 cubic foot capacity, but because it uses so little water it simply doesnt function as advertised. Often there is residue on clothing, simple stains like dirt marks dont get removed. In addition to poor cleaning, the spin cycle is simply bizarre; clothes are twisted to the point that the wrinkles created during this cycle will not come out during the dryer phase of laundry work. I am completely unsatisfied with my purchase and regret not researching this more prior to purchase. I am baffled that this product could actually make it through quality control at Maytag. I have had one service call under warranty to fix the lid not locking. This repair was completed with satisfaction.

It quit working again in May 2012, and we replace the control panel, and then in November 2013 it quit and we replaced the control panel along with a new door latch just to be sure on December 4, 2013. The dishwasher quit working mid-cycle a couple of weeks ago only 9.5 months since we replaced the last control panel. Im fairly certain it is the control panel again. We have paid more to replace control panels for this dishwasher than we paid for the original appliance. There should be a recall and compensation on this issue. Very disappointed that Maytag and Whirlpool do not resolve this issue. We will be buying a different dishwasher, and it will not be Maytag or Whirlpool.

I am happy with this dishwasher. I had a GE that had a lot of problems. I insisted on getting Maytag and I have been happy ever since. It controls the time, temperature, and is easy to operate. I would like a bigger dishwasher because of my family size. This dish is okay for a family of 4. It matches my furniture. It blends in. No complaints. The digital pad is convenient but it has been fixed a few times. I had a few technicians who did not know how to fix. It was not the dishwasher, it was the technicians.

Regardless of how many complaints they receive they are in denial about their product. They now offer a Repair +1 program which costs $260 for a repair and an additional 1 year warranty. If I do that I will get 1 year out of it before I run into the same problems. Any ideas?

About four months into owning the microwave, a computer module had to be replaced. The microwave stopped working about six weeks out of warranty. It just stopped working, period. I was told by Maytag that they consider microwave a disposable product and they would not cover the repairs. It was cheaper to buy a new one than repair the old one so I replaced it with another brand. The dishwasher failed after 4.5 years (would not drain) and again it was cheaper to replace it than fix it. The oven range handle broke off (normal use) in August 2011 and that cost me approximately $200 for the part and the service call. The refrigerator has had two service calls for the ice maker to replace the motor. The first was covered by Maytag, the second by me. This occurred when the unit was approximately three years old. In August 2011, I had another $90 repair because the ice maker drain (?) was plugged and had to be cleared fixed. I have never been able to pay what I paid for these appliances. Prior to this, we always purchased a middle-range appliance and we never had problems like this.I will never purchase another Maytag product again. This is so disappointing. I live in MI and I wanted to support a MI business. Unfortunately, I wont be able to help out this particular company any longer. Dont buy Maytag appliances. It is a waste of money.

After going through reviews by other owners and discussions with repairmen, it was determined that these panels only last about a year and are defective. This problem is extensive with Maytag. My brother was a repairman for them and dropped them due to poor quality of workmanship in appliances and their dishonest approach to warranties. I should have known better. Dont ever buy Maytag!!!

Completely unacceptable service provided by Maytag over the phone. The only concession offered was a 25% discount if I bought the replacement part (control touch pad) from them. After some internet research, I learned Maytag marks up their parts prices over 25% so they are really not giving you a discount at all.I filed a complaint with Maytag but they were unable to provide me with any evidence of doing such except for an 11-digit code. Due to a major defect, Maytag should have sent me the replacement part for free. I told Maytag I thought this was fair and that I would pay for the labor. I will never buy another Maytag appliance again! They are junk and the company does not practice common sense customer service.

I thought it would be wise to buy new appliances for my new laundry room so I chose the beautiful and expensive Maytag Bravos XL. I regret that decision. The washer lasted 4 years and began to have problems draining last week. The liquid that stayed in the washtub until the repairman could get here was so foul smelling! He came back today to replace the drain pump and now the washer is showing that the interface and CCU are not communicating. So now we are ordering another CCU and I hope this fixes the problem. I agree with all of you who say you will NEVER buy another Maytag again. Maytag, are you listening?

During 2018 we purchased Maytag Bravos top loader to replace antique KitchenAid. Very dissatisfied at first, but luckily found the settings that makes my machine work very well on every cycle. First add 1/2 gallon of water to empty tub. Add detergent. Set controls at: Soil Level-Heavy; Wash temp - Warm; Main dial - Bulky Sheets; Extra Rinse - ON; Fabric Softner - OFF. Can now load full tub of clothes and more detergent if desired. Press start button and water covers it entirely. It works so well now, that I went from I hate it to I love it. Been going for two perfect months with no issues. Weird but true. Hope this helps you.

The serial number is MDB8979SBWD. Just a few months before warranty expired the buttons were being flaky. Eventually it would not start. We brought it to the dealer because they wanted $150 to come to the house. They replaced the front panel. It lasted less than a year and stopped working again. Being out of warranty and being a technician I took off the panel and saw that there was no insulation in so the humidity would build up. The wires in the ribbon wire were corroded. I looked up the price of the panel and it was $150. The dealer wanted $150. I did not want to replace it because of the possibility that was not the only problem. We paid $400 for it on sale, (a mistake I know better than to buy stuff on close outs.) FYI to get the dealer to deal with it it would cost $300! From reading these complaints this panel seems to be a real problem with this and Maytag is not supporting this LEMON. I see a lawsuit here. Too bad Maytag is only out for profit. What is disappointing is that Maytag is owned by Whirlpool. Whirlpool has or used to have good appliances. We had a microwave that lasted 15 years and our last dishwasher that lasted 15 years. We will never buy Maytag or Whirlpool again. Maytag is junk. The dishwasher is probably ok except for the panel. Shame to get rid of it for that but unless I can bypass it that is what we will have to do. $150 is too much for a gamble and it seems that panel is a problem so it probably would not last long anyway.
