Buy Maytag Dryer MGD6205RR
My Bravos 300 series is 3yrs. Initially it occasionally shredded an item. With 4 kids I chalked it up to wear & tear on the clothes. Its now ruining items almost every wash. I now wash much by hand. Cant wait to afford a new one.
I didnt want something from Sears due to horrible experiences with them. Maytag is very reliable and the cost was reasonable. They fit in the small space available for washer and dryer. They have all the features I need. The only complaint I have about the dryer is that for some reason if the load is small, it takes longer to dry than with a full load. I have had them for about 5 years now. I expect a washer and dryer to work correctly every time. If its poor construction I would not buy it. I also expect an appliance to last many years with proper maintenance.
We purchased the Maytag front loader Neptune washer and dryer set in 2006. Since then, the washer violently vibrates during the spin cycle - moving out of place and requiring me to move it manually. A certified Maytag technician came out to fix it and could not. The Maytag representative I spoke with said the circuit board is known to be defective and Maytag has not given any direction on how to fix, but that the board is irreparable at that time (in addition to the mold smell that emits from the washer despite the fixes for this). The old washers also used to have a coin receptacle so that any coins that were left in pockets went into the coin receptacle instead of into the pump area. This protected the pump assembly. But to cut costs, they took that coin receptacle out. This causes any coins or other possible things that fall out of the pocket to go into the pump area, getting lodged in there and requiring a costly replacement for the part in addition to costly labor. This washer does not do the best job in the spin cycle because it vibrates so much, leaving a lot of excess water in the clothes. I have also smelled a burning smell when doing loads that suggests there may be electrical issues that could cause a fire hazard. Then there is the dryer. The Maytag Neptune front load dryer has design issue with the electrical assembly. We smelled a burning smell and unplugged it. After taking apart the front cover, the heating coils had set on fire excess lint that had gotten into the heating assembly. In addition, the coil snapped in half, possibly causing a short in the wiring. This also caused other electrical issues that are causing more money to fix. In addition, this is the second time we have dealt with electrical issues with the dryer that have cost us over $400 to fix, including having to replace the drum because it was cracked. Lint and other items seems to get into the very important electrical areas of the dryer due to a faulty design in the lint tray, because the lint goes right through a hole into the areas where the heater coils are, which caused the burning smell in our dryer. In my opinion, both these machines could be very good machines if they were not made so cheaply and if they put good quality into the machines. They dont seem to be worth the price and the support is not there. Even more frustrating, the company does not stand behind the product, leading me to believe that they know about these problems, but dont want to fix them when they go bad. This can pose a hardship for families waiting for two weeks for parts while their dryers or washers are broken. Not to mention the enormous repair costs after the warranty has expired. Try to get them to replace something on the warranty and you have even more problems.
After buying this dishwasher model MDB6759WWW3 in Jan. 2010, I fully expected it to work longer than it did! So far, the control panel has been replaced 5 times. The last time was Sept. 17, 2012 and already it is out again. I talked with Customer Service, since Georgia has a lemon law. After 4 times it is to be replaced. They had no record of the part that was replaced, just that a technician had come and repaired (by ordering the same part they had no knowledge of). This time they will either replace or instead of me calling, my lawyer will call. I will never buy another Maytag product and will encourage anyone else not to buy either. My daughter had the same experience with a refrigerator, a piece of junk they did nothing about. By the way, I have an extended warranty plan, which should not even be necessary!
Stainless steel 2 door refrigerator with a bottom drawer freezer. Good space in both. Finish is almost fingerprint free. I bought 5 appliances at the same time so pricing was very good.
Do not buy a Maytag Washer. I had a Maytag for 25 yrs with only 1 repair in its 23rd yr. When it finally retired at age 25, we replaced it with another Maytag assuming it would also last long. No chance. We had only 2 good yrs. Now, at 2 yrs old, it is so so loud during the spin cycle that it sounds like an airplane (757) is flying overhead at 50 ft above the roof... No way can we possibly use the washer if anyone in the house is sleeping. Repairs cost more than the initial price of the washer. Please do yourself a huge favor and buy another brand. There are too many complaints about Maytag to even consider purchasing one. Not worth the aggravation!!
Purchased a refrigerator freezer in 2012. It freezes the refrigerator contents, ruins vegetables....freezer doesnt freeze the contents....stopped making ice. Clicks on and off every two seconds sometimes for twenty minutes......
Bought this Maytag Bravo washer in 2013 expecting long service life like I had with my previous machine. After 2 years spin cycle noise got progressively worse. Until now it roars loudly and keeps stopping in the spin cycle for rebalancing. Called Maytag. Experience was as described as others have reported with them and their repair service. Absolutely no help unless I spend another $310 for extended warranty to cover the $380 part (tub and bearing - 1 unit - cant get only the bearing). Paid $800 for the washer now more for the repair wanted. $1100-$1200 for a machine that will need repair again in a couple of years? Dont think so. This machine is only good for a boat anchor. Going out today to buy a replacement for $400 and it wont be a Maytag or its affiliates brand. Feel like a class action suit would be good for Maytag to wake up to.
It seems to be a broken record with other reviews. I had a 2 year old microwave and the door doesnt recognize that its closed. Which means it wont turn on when I close the door. So you have to open and close it maybe 30-50 times and sometimes it works. I call Maytag who schedules a company but doesnt disclose anything about the warranty or service cost. I was thinking it would be a nominal fee since it falls under a 10 year warranty. The company calls and confirms the cost and I recheck with Maytag who said that the warranty only covers parts. So I buy a $300 microwave and have to pay $160 for a service visit because your company made inferior parts. Absolute sham of a company. Buyer Beware...
I can see by the comments on this page that the letter I sent to Whirlpool was in vain. I purchased a Maytag double oven gas range (MGT8775XW00) from our local Lowes. We were remodeling a home we had purchased. Unfortunately (as anyone whos been involved in home remodeling/renovation knows well), it took much longer than I thought it would before range could be installed. It was several months later before it was installed. First time I tried to use the top oven, it would heat to set temp (I assume) and then shut down. The larger bottom oven had erratic heating. I tried adjusting oven temps but it was a guessing game. We had Fix-Rite Corp out twice and they were puzzled by the problem. Two times, they replaced the control panel. After the second repair, it was decided the only thing to fix the kitchen was a complete gutting, new cabinets and floor. The oven was pulled out before I had a chance to use it again. By the time we got the kitchen finished and range reinstalled, I discovered the oven still had the same problems and the broiler would ignite sometimes and when it did, the flame would go out after 30 to 60 seconds and would not come back on. By this time, we were past the one-year warranty. After the first repair did not work, I tried to get Lowes to take it back and assured them I would purchase another range from them. They said they could not do that. Now I can see Im going to end up buying another range. Be assured it wont be Maytag and it wont be Lowes. I also own and use Maytag washer and dryer.
I purchased a Maytag top-load washer 16 months ago. I had a problem with it four months after purchase and they told me it was not leveled, which I did not believe. I set it up as the manual said to. The washer left clothes soaking wet about every 30 loads. I continued to use it and the washer finally quit working after 16 months. The repairman found the nut which holds the pulley on the shaft that turns the drum had been loose and had been this way for some time. $129.00 later, it was fixed. It works fine now. I wonder if this problem should have been caught on the first service call when it was still under warranty.
Updated on 08/13/2021: Today a repairman who is authorized by Maytag came out. He found the problem, some arm that popped out that is located underneath the washer. He put it back together and said he needs to order the part and it will take 30 more days. Set the washer so that it SHOULD work for a couple of loads. I spent $700 on a washing machine and I have to go to a laundry mat to get my clothes washed. Here is the clincher. The guy left no paperwork, nothing, not even a business card. So I am at the mercy of this repairman (I think he said his name was Jessie). The guy was friendly, quick and knowledgeable, however he told my husband he knew what the problem was going to be, if you knew why didnt you bring the part with you and he said the part is out of stock. Why, is this part unique to Maytag washers? So I am still waiting for my washer to be fixed.Original Review: In December 2020 I purchased a Maytag washer it was delivered in January 2021 and it worked great for the first several months. Then the machine started making noises, clicking noises like it couldnt move through the gears. Then I started noticing that my clothes were not getting cleaned. It was taking an hour to wash the clothes. I told my husband it is not agitating just clicking. We had to stop and start back up the washer just to get the water level high enough for the so called deep water wash. I was finding residue left on my clothes and had to wash them 2 or 3 times to get the clothes clean enough to wear. Sometimes it wont spin enough to empty the water in the tub. It smells almost like wire burning. It has barely been 6 months and I have to have a repairman out. I will review the washer again after it has been fixed or replaced. But as of right now I will never buy another Maytag again.
I purchased a Maytag front loading Epic z washer and I paid a great deal of money for it and now I have a broken part on it. We contacted the Maytag manufacturer and they have informed me that the part would not be available for up to two months maybe 6 months. I cannot afford to buy another washer, so now I have a broken washer and need to purchase another washer until the parts come in. I would not recommend this washer or dryer to anyone ever.
I purchased a Maytag dishwasher (Model No. MDB8949SBWO) in September of 2013. Within the first year (and under warranty) the control module failed. The dishwasher is now almost two years old and the second control module has failed. From other postings it is obvious that Maytag has a known defect in their control units. To replace control modules on an annual basis makes this an extremely expensive dishwasher to own.
I purchased the most expensive stackable set available. After 3 years the Maytag Front Load Washer is dead. Wont turn on or receive electricity. It stopped in the middle of a cycle so I have an entire load locked inside. A repair person came out and confirmed $600-$1,400 to replace computer electronics. Right on the front of the machine, there is a shiny tag displaying 10-year Warranty. I live chatted with Maytag. Only the drum and some other ridiculous part is covered. She told me to call the 800 number to speak with a customer rep. After trying 2 times and being put on hold for over a half hour, I hung up. I WILL NEVER BUY A MAYTAG AGAIN!
We have a model MF12269VEMS. Approx 3 years old. Ice maker and water dispenser work great. Fridge works well. We have experienced over the last 6 months a buildup of ice that forms inside the freezer under the drawers. If we dont catch it every 4-5 days we cannot open the drawers as the ice catches the bottom plastic drawers. I called Maytag directly and the pleasant young lady told me after checking that it did not seem to be an issue...clearly after looking into the internet I am not alone! Maybe someone can email me a fix?
I wished I researched more before I purchased, but like most people, I believed in the reputation of Maytag. Like many others - my control panel started to go out 19 months after install: Had my first event with the washer; it would not allow me to select normal wash. A high-end machine shouldnt have electrical connection problems within 19 months, just 7 months after the warranty expires. When the repairman pulled apart our machine, he found a similarly burned looking touchpad ribbon cable, that was burned in exactly the same position as the photos shown on Maytags website under the review referred to. Maytag/Whirlpool has set up a special phone number to deal with this problem: I dialed 1-866-931-7384... Been on hold for over an hour Of course - NO answer! Ill try later but I am very angry that this has been a known issue BEFORE I purchased mine at Home Depot. What a piece of junk. This is the last Maytag Ill ever buy again. The service is horrible, the product is junk.
The oven works. However, there are two safety issues. First, the flat metal panel above the air vent and below the instrument panel gets extremely HOT. This is the location we can easily touch, especially when we operate the instrument panel. We almost burned our hands. Second, the edges of the unit are very SHARP. We almost cut our legs. These are serious safety issues. In addition, we/I tried to post a review at Maytag site pointing out these safety issues. The review was twice moderate (i.e., rejected). Even though I used to like Maytag, this experience changed my mind.
On May 11, 2010, I purchased a Maytag washing machine from Lowes. On June 22, 2011, the machine wouldnt empty out on the rinse cycle. Lowes was called as the machine was only one month out of warranty. They dispatched Appliance Plus for a service call which would be $80.00 just to diagnose the problem. It turns out the machine needs three parts - a timer, an ATC switch, and a rinse switch. All totaled, this will add up to over $300.00, plus the $80.00 for the service call.Appliance Plus tried to contact Whirlpool to see if Whirlpool would at least pay for parts, being it was only one month out of warranty. The answer took 5 days and the request was denied. I was told I should contact Lowes Service Advantage and maybe they could contact Whirlpool for a special consideration, again, being it was only one month out of warranty. I made the call and they said to give them two business days turn-around for an answer. On June 30th, Lowes said Whirlpool was looking for the serial number and I provided it. They told me to give them another 2 business days turn-around. On July 3rd, I again called Lowes and they informed me that they still hadnt heard from Whirlpool. Finally, on July 7th, I received a call from Lowes saying Whirlpool denied the request.
6 week old High Efficiency Washer leaves lint and soap lines. Ive tried deep water wash plus the 2 rinse settings and I still have to wash the load twice to get rid of the lint lines and soap lines. Ive also tried every combination of settings to no avail and I follow the guide to a tee because this machine actually weighs the clothes to determine the water level. Maytag customer service was polite but useless. Im assuming its the poor design but customer service says I will be charge for the warranty service call if no problem is found. Maytag, another fine company down the drain. PS, parts are made in China.
In 2011, I purchased 2 Maytag dishwashers, one for my tenant and one for myself. In 2014, the circuit board on my tenants dishwasher failed, when the unit was only 3 years old and of course out of warranty. I first contacted a local repair person, and he informed me that the repair plus service would be close to $300. When I contacted the company, after about an hour on the phone, they agreed to send their authorized repair service person and after his evaluation, would repair the unit with no charge to me, as a courtesy. This whole process took about 2-3 weeks. I felt that was fair. It is now 2015, and my unit, which I purchased at the same time and the same type, now is not working due to a faulty circuit board. My tenant uses her dishwasher more frequently, and that is most likely why her circuit board went first. This is a design flaw, or perhaps planned obsolescence. At any rate, Im not happy with this, and my model is mdb7809awb2, and serial # is FO4205659. Do you know if there have been any other complaints on this? Thank you for your help.Updated on 07/30/2015: After I wrote my review, I contacted Maytag about the problem. After considerable wait times, I spoke to someone who set up a diagnostic repair call, giving me the impression that Maytag would cover it. When the repair company called, they told me that I would be charged $104.95 just for diagnostics. Labor and parts would be additional. I called Maytag again, and they agreed to let the repair company charge back the diagnostic fee. After diagnosing the problem, it was determined the problem was the control panel and not the circuit board. The cost to repair with tax came to $315.85 and it was only this low because the repair company waived the return service trip. I can get a new dishwasher for a little over $400.00. I am very disappointed in Maytag, because I remember the commercials where the Maytag repair man was bored because the products were so dependable they never broke. My unit is only 4 years old, and its sad that it costs so much to repair it.
Maytag is the worst washer company. I owned my washer for two years and I had two different problems with it and now I have a 3rd. The first was the same day they delivered the washer, I needed a wire harness. I should have returned it then but I didnt. The 2nd was six months after the first one. A wire came loose due to the washer shaking and the 3rd, Im not sure why it wont drain but the tub is full of water. I called Maytag and they really didnt care as long as they got their money. They referred me to three companies that fixes washer. Two of three was already out for this washer. If I didnt know any better I would think Maytag gets paid off for every customer they referred to these companies. I would never buy another Maytag Bravo or Whirlpool product. Im very dissatisfied with their Bravo washers. They lost a long time customer.
I purchased a Maytag dishwasher for $500. After several months of it working less days than not working, I contacted the repairman. I paid $350 to replace the control panel. I wish I had just replaced it with a reliable product. 1 year into ownership and the seals on the door are falling off. May I suggest never purchasing a Maytag product?
Purchased washer March 2017 and had to get it repaired twice by the end of 2018. The top loader even with agitator does not clean clothes very well. The repairman said not to fill the washer above halfway so I can only wash about 4 pair of my husbands heavy soiled work jeans. I won’t buy another Maytag.
The washer is very aggressive - it will tangle the clothes and actually tear them if they are thin. There is little control with the speed or water temperature or with the amount of water for a load of clothes.
Bought Maytag dishwasher model number MDB894995BB3 serial # F41103073. About 2 months out of warranty the control panel went bad. Contacted Maytag. After quite some time they agreed to pay for parts. After some more conversation they also agreed to pay service and labor. This was on the first day of August and Maytag scheduled a repairman for the sixth of August. When he arrived spent five minutes and said he had to order parts. The control panel I had already told them was bad. Now here I sit waiting for part to arrive. No more Maytag or Whirlpool for me.
My Maytag Series 300 Dishwasher would not start. I read the reviews and took the door off (easy if you have the right tool), removed the control panel box (one screw), and cleaned the ribbon with electronic cleaner as per someones suggestion. It started right up. This is a bad design. Would I buy another Maytag? - No way! We will see how long this lasts. There is no seal on the door to keep out humidity. Do we really need a new control panel? When this is done...I am done with Maytag!
Well I must say I concur with all previous posts. I just replaced my Bravos with a Samsung after my jet plane of a washer died. My repair guy said it was not worth it to fix it. I had already replaced the shocks two years ago but I did have mine for 8 years. I have had the same problems as previous posts - rust, smell, holes, broken, too expensive! Hello to Samsung!!
My dishwasher was bought December 2013. The control panel just started going crazy and cant control anything. Unless you have bought extended warranty Maytag isnt doing anything. This is obviously a manufacture defect and no one is doing anything about it. Will no longer buy Maytag products if they cant stand behind their product.
Maytag Cenntenial Washer - We traded our super capacity for the ex-large Maytag washer and we have great regrets. We posted it on Craigslist about 4 months after we bought the unit and NO ONE would buy it for $300.00 even though we paid close to $600, and only 4 months old? What does that tell you? I have had to add 5 gallons (bucket) with each wash to make sure all the soap washes out. Very loud, takes a long time to wash and just worthless. This last weekend, we tried to trade it for a used $150 agitator washer with a used appliance store and they said theyd never be able to sell it and refused the trade. What does that tell you about the washer?
I purchased this dryer in September 2011. By August 2012, one month before the warranty expires, the thermo fuse blew and the dryer would not dry; no heat. I replaced fuse and 30 days later, it blew again. I replaced it again and now, March 2013, 6 months later, the same thing; the thermo fuse blew, no heat. The vent is clean and air flow is very good. Maytag will not admit a problem. This is not an inexpensive dryer; it may be cheap, but not inexpensive. Maytag quality appears to have vanished. I have Maytag throughout the house but will think twice before purchasing Maytag again. Chinese produced parts/products are inferior. Maybe Ill look at Bosch or LG from now on.
I was told to at first to just leave the door open, then when that did not work I was told that I should bleach my machine at least once a week which I did. That did not work either. Then I was told to buy the product REFRESH and that would take care of the smell. That did not work either. So I am at my wits end with the stench of my clothes.
I will NEVER get another Maytag product ever again! My not even 1 year old washer broke and I have been waiting almost 2 1/2 months for a part to be replaced. My partner and I are nurses working on the front lines during this COVID pandemic and I can’t even wash my scrubs at my own house but instead I have to go to a damn washateria. The “supervisor” told me 2 weeks ago that if the part is not in by today, 1/27/21, that a brand new washer will be sent to me. Well I call today and the people I spoke to denied any recollection of this information. The “supervisor” stated that she is “documenting all of the information” so when I called back I would not have a problem. Once again I have been lied to and wasting my breath and time. The customer service has been TERRIBLE and I cannot believe that this was once a “reliable” brand! Clearly this brand is unreliable and the personnel is also unreliable. NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY A MAYTAG! Save your money and buy a different brand!
Maytag is a reputable company and my centennial washer has been going strong for over 6 years. My only complaint is that if it gets slightly scratched by objects placed on top temporarily, it starts to rust there.
I purchased this Maytag Bravos Xl Top Loading Washing Machine approximately 2 1/2 years ago. It broke down shortly after the 1 year warranty was up and cost me $300.00 to fix. A bearing had broke and needed a service call to repair it. Well, I paid about $800.00 to begin with, so decided to fix it. Today it started draining water from bottom of it. I call Maytag and after a 20 minute wait on the phone because they were having higher than normal call volumes! They cannot help me, other than to charge me for yet another service call and perhaps a repair. Whirlpool/Maytag makes a high priced money pit of a washing machine! Dont waste your money!
First off, everyone seeing this should be fuming as I am because we are mostly in the same boat with these control panel issues. Mine is Maytag model MDB7749SBM3 about 575.00. A little bit cheaper than most of you because I purchased at the online and had a rebate. About a couple months after the warranty expired, we started having weird light issues with the control panel where are one light would pop up when you didnt hit it or other lights would pop up when you hit something else. We kept dealing with it thinking that it would dry out and resolve itself. Lo and behold, just like it appears to be tens of thousands perhaps hundreds of thousands of machines, it quit. I read this consumer affairs post after it quit and now I know why it did. I opened up the control panel and sure enough, the little ribbon that connects all the electrical connections had brown on the back like it was burnt through. I was able to find a special 1 800 number that Whirlpool has set up because they have purchased Maytag and the woman I spoke with said they would send a technician out and that I was responsible for the diagnostic fee. I was born but it wasnt yesterday. I immediately said to the woman, Absolutely unacceptable. I am NOT paying for anything, very politely highlighting the fact that I know they settled a class action lawsuit in California regarding a control panel issue and there are hundreds maybe thousands of complaints on consumer affairs.com. The woman place me on hold, I am assuming to speak with her supervisor and then let me know that they would pay for the diagnostic fee. She said a repair date for me for about a week and a half later. The repairman had a good day because the dishwasher was already disassembled for him and he proceeded to take pictures and call Maytag. Maytag told him that I was responsible for the installation cost and service fee which according to the technician is about a hundred bucks. I told the technician that is fine but it will not be fine when I call Maytag back. I have not spoken to Maytag about the hundred dollars needs to file a claim for a new dishwasher and associated damages. I have not spoken to Maytag about the hundred dollars but I am only on this to let you know that every single one of us needs to file a claim for a new dishwasher in associated damages in small claims court. I plan on filing a claim for approximately $700 for a new dishwasher and damages. In my opinion, I feel like we should all do this, otherwise big corporations like this will continue to shovel garbage into the stores left and right.Have a good day and good luck with your court case hopefully. With all the evidence against them, I have a feeling that they will settle this and pay before the court date even comes around. Good luck to all of you. I will try and update this after I call Maytag back for the hundred dollars that they are going to charge to repair their broken part.
I purchased this Maytag Bravos XL Washing Machine at Lowes in California, MD for about $800 on April 8, 2018. What a disappointment for a Made in America product! BUYER BEWARE - DO NOT BUY! I agree 100% with the reviews and comments. This washing machine is a PIECE OF JUNK! It does not clean clothes! It does not provide enough water to get all clothes wet! All it does is shake the clothes back and forth and stays in the same order you put the clothes in. I agree with one of the reviews that it does nothing but crumple/wad the middle items together and rub them. And the clothes are DIRTY!! I will be calling Maytag 1-800-344-1274 and demand for my money back!! Lowes should STOP selling this product!
Control panel start button failed 55 weeks after purchase and installation. Model no. MDB4709PAW. Repair costs for labor and part totaled $298. I have since found out that Maytag dishwashers with this type of control panel are faulty and fail often within first 3 years. Purchased at Johnnies Appliance, Glendora on 6/14/14 NJ; ticket no. **.
No matter what we we do we still have soap residue left on clothes, even when we do the 2nd rinse cycle (what a waste of water). We use the correct amount of HE detergent and we use the detergent dispenser but it doesnt helps. The machine just doesnt use enough water. We have removed items that still have DRY SPOTS on them when the cycle is done. Areas that have never gotten wet after a 45 minute cycle. Never once had this happen with an agitator machine. Would not buy this machine again. Model: C80441070. Serial #: MVWX655DW1.
I wrote the below to Maytag on their FaceBook page, of course havent heard anything back from them. Adding this on since I forgot about it, I have dogs and wash their blankets often, not that theyre dirty just for the dog smell. I have to wash them on the sanitize cycle which is an 1.5 hours long because if I use the normal cycle which is only 43 minutes they come out smelling exactly the same way they went in. I saw someone else post that their mothers front loader doesnt put in enough water so Im wondering if thats what happens to mine. So wish I would have checked the reviews before buying, thought I was getting a great washer buying Maytag. This is what I wrote on their FB page: I bought a Maytag front loading washer on 5/10/16 which was delivered and set up on 5/13/16. On Wednesday 10/19/16 it stopped working, so just over 5 months from the day it was installed. I called your company on 10/20/16 for repairs, they couldnt get here until today, 10/24, so 5 days with no washer. The customer service rep had all the details on what happened and Im sure passed them along to the repair company. He ran diagnostics, said it was the drain pump which was obvious even to me, but claimed to not have one with him even though they were in stock. Cant make it back until Wednesday, so two more days with no washer. He then proceeded to tell me that the dryer had to come off (stacked on top since the washer is a front loader) before he got back, that the warranty wouldnt cover two people coming out. So Im supposed to spend more money to hire someone to come out, take off the dryer and then pay them again to come back and put it back on. I called the customer service department again and was told they dont cover installation which stacking is. She said the warranty doesnt cover stacked units, as far as I can find that isnt stated in the warranty so please let me know where that is stated in writing. So I have a just over 5-month-old washer that needs repair already (bodes well for the future doesnt it??), will be without a washer for almost a week because the repairman didnt bring the most obvious part with him (maybe wanted to be paid for two calls?) and have to pay someone else for installation so it can be fixed. So wheres the Maytag man? I am not a happy customer and will be letting as many people know as possible. Ill be in the market for other new appliances soon, will sure as hell make sure theyre not made by Maytag, Whirlpool et all.
My Maytag dishwasher is not working after 1 years & 60 months. I called Sears, where I got it. Then, Maytag company. It looks like I need to spend $167 for an electronic controller (the push buttons will not turn on) if I do myself (I doubt if I can go it, but I can try). If not, how much will I pay a tech for coming (I was told $59) plus the labor if I let him fix it. So Im looking at a total of approx $400 plus to fix a 1 1/2 yr old Maytag dishwasher. Any comments Maytag??
We bought the washer less than a year ago. The washer became off balance with an average load of jeans. The washer shook so violently that it cut our floor, busted our wall, and broke itself. Water covered our floor! We have now been over a month with no washing machine (still paying on it, by the way). We have had to pay to get our clothes washed in the last month = EXPENSIVE! The repair company has been out to our home twice, broken high-quality tools trying to repair the machine, and told by their higher-ups that the washer can still be repaired. Customer service only tells us that we have a repair warranty and the first repair has no time limit.
I bought a new Maytag dishwasher 9 months ago from Costco - Maytag 24 in. Built-in Dishwasher with PowerBlast Cycle, White. This dishwasher needs a new motor - Please do not buy this dishwasher. It is garbage.
My Atlantis dryer has never been able to be used on more/less dryer settings, I have had 4 repairmen repair my dryer 3 were while dryer was under warranty to fix the same thing 3 times wiring 4th time, anyway last repairman said my More dry wont work because I never had a sensor installed in my dryer and there is not a place for one so since 2005. Ive used timed dry only or my dryer runs all the time. I am concerned the first 3 repairmen never caught this. I should not have to be responsible for this either. Please have a manager contact me and have them check into my Atlantis Maytag dryer bought in 2005 and all the repair slips sent to Maytag.I used Green Yates in Joplin. Pretty sure. I thought I just had to live with it they would put new parts on I think timer, thermostats anyway can someone tell me for sure or inspect for yourself. I am single and dryer never used that much. Concerned Consumer, Nancy **/ Nancy ** as that name had front loader set from Maytag that I was very pleased with but sold with home in KC area, wish I had that set again I was very pleased .Thanks for your time.
The $1,100 Maytag Bravo XL does not have a dedicated spin cycle. Its rinse and spin. When out of balance, you rearrange and it rinses AGAIN - 15 minutes - before you know whether its balanced. By rinsing again, it can redistribute to be out of balance. Repairmen (w/ extra warranty) said you cant wash bath mats, bedspreads or pillows though it had giant capacity! They would charge me if I called again about it (3 strikes). So bought a used Kenmore with no computer panel... Its great! My dealer had the Maytag hauled to a dump, he would not sell it to anybody as he had integrity.
In 2016 I purchased a matching Maytag washer and dryer. The reason why I purchased it because I was in a house and I no longer had a washer and dryer and I refuse to go to a laundry mat at the city to go to Nebraska Furniture Mart and it was a number of different washer and dryer combinations available. I had previously own a Samsung matching washer and dryer and it worked fine, my Maytag has dame of the same features and works great.
I bought a fridge from Home Depot. It was on sale and not a Maytag. Somehow they delivered a Maytag. I am over-the-top happy with my fridge. It keep things cold. It is roomy, It has separate temp controls for the freezer and fridge. The bright LED lighting is wonderful. It is energy efficient. It is easy to move around when I need to clean under it. It was delivered right away.
We bought this Maytag washer 3 mo. ago and now need work done on it. We were told that they could not find anyone willing to come work in this area. We live in the Mississippi Delta, 30 miles so. of Greenville, 50 miles no. of Vicksburg or 90 miles from Jackson. So I guess the Maytag repairman is not just lonely anymore, he doesnt exist.
My dishwasher is 3-4 years old and the control panel is malfunctioning. Cant push a button to choose what cycle I want, it doesnt respond. I went to the Maytag website to see if there have been others with this problem. It appears that there are many other people having this problem. Parts are not available and it seems that Maytag wont do a recall on this product due to the control panel malfunctioning. I have been dealing with this problem for the past few months. I dont think Maytag is worth the money. They want if you only get a few years out of them.
Both the washer/dryer are of the Bravos models and both perform amazingly well. It seems everything works so well, including the vents which are thorough and vent the machine well. Our laundry is always clean and the settings on both machines work very accurately! We believe our Maytags are simply the best operating machines weve ever owned!
Our Maytag washer 4000 series was installed on September 2010. Within 12 months and 5 days, we are now waiting for our second spin bearing to be replaced. It is a repair that takes 2 guys and 2 hours, and they basically have to replace the guts of the machine. I can imagine this is, at minimum, a $500 repair. We didnt buy the extended warranty, but luckily, the appliance shop was able to talk Maytag into eating the cost since we were only 5 days out. With the purchase of our new house, we upgraded from our appliance allowance to this model. With everything going on with the new house and selling our old one, I didnt do my normal internet searches for customer reviews and that was a mistake!Maytag has since sent us a warranty extension offer for $350, covering 3 more years. I guess Ill be buying that. It sucks that you pay top dollar for a washer only to find out that you have to pay an extra 40% just to keep it running for 4 years. No more Maytags for me, ever. Note to Maytag, you sell junk and your business goes into the ground. You are selling junk! Stop trying to squeeze every penny out of design and build, or you wont have a job.
I have a Maytag Neptune (model number MAH5500BWW and serial number 85981207AE). On February 22, 2012, the washer started smoking and a burn smell was apparent. Fire department was called. They pinpointed issue to the washer. On February 23, 2012, I spoke with Brenda from the Safety Department. She prioritized a diagnosis from a local certified technician. On February 24, 2012 , the technician diagnosis was defect motor and control runs hot after load. Then Lorna from the Safety Department stated they will not cover part/labor.Machine is
This has to be the biggest joke in the world for the respected name of Maytag! The engineers that developed this worst-of-all machines on the market must have been circumcised with pinking shears. 80 minutes for a wash cycle? Even rapid wash takes an hour of slowly spinning and spinning ad nauseam with almost no water. The clothes sit in the same position even on the very brief agitation cycle... Nope, the clothes do not come out clean, although if you add bleach to the dispenser, since there is no water in the tank, the bleach does triple duty and rots the clothes. Is this masquerading as energy efficient when all of the cycles are an hour long, about? Unfortunately it takes water to clean clothes and the environ-lack-of-mentalists must have bribed Maytag to develop the worst washer on the planet. Absolutely!
I purchased a Maytag Microwave Oven MMV5208 WS 1 from Home Depot less than two years ago. Mine was actually manufactured in April 2013 according to the ID tag. A couple of months ago it started acting up because a switch when the door closes began to malfunction and you had to open and close the door several times to get the microwave started. Then all of a sudden when you set the timer and pushed the start button it would flash on and immediately shut off. This is extremely frustrating because I paid more than $400.00 and purchased it less than two years ago. I am disappointed because Maytag advertises its reliability and this microwave is anything but reliable.
I bought a new Maytag washer 1 year ago. It does not do a good job of washing the clothes. I have tried to contact customer service but what a waste of time that has been. I would never buy another MAYTAG washer again. This is after owning an older style Maytag for 25 years that I never had one problem with until it wore out. They are now junk. I bought at Leons. Would be very careful of buying there again as they were also no help with this washer not working properly.
I have owned this dishwasher about four years. After about three years the control panel malfunctioned and had to be replaced. Six months later I had to replace the controller. After another six months the control panel has again failed. Rather than invest more money in this beast, I have decided to replace it with what I hope is a more reliable machine. This experience has definitely put a bad taste in my mouth about Maytag products. I’m afraid this will be my last purchase of a Maytag product.
We have had our washer and dryer almost 18 years and just recently spent less than $280 to get the washer going again. The dryer we haven’t had serviced yet. Great quality. So worth it. Our Maytag appliances are used frequently and keep giving out the best performance.
Maytag Washer over 3 years old. Often problematic not functioning smoothly! Maytag invented this defective machine to intentionally rob the customer with all the probs that comes with it - poor design & quality, & not logistically programmed! Even aftercare/customer service SUCKS!!! Now, sensor spinning option is no longer working, drum not operational. No more Maytag!!!
Bought this Maytag XL washer and dryer in September 2012. In January 2014, the washer stopped working. Service guy came out and said the electronics went out. Then in May 2014, the dryer died. The dryer door latch broke. Would not stay shut. 2 days later, the heating element went out. Again, the service man came out. This service man said that this model is subject to break downs. This Maytag is a piece of junk. I went out and bought a Whirlpool, which I had before. I would never buy a Maytag again. I paid over 2000.00 for this Maytag and it is the worst washer and dryer I have ever had. Apparently, the Maytag repairman needs to get his butt busy. I have the Maytag now on my sunporch, waiting for the junk man to come and get it.
First, the machine is a wrinkle monster no matter what I try. I wash my clothes on delicate cycle to keep the colors longer and so my clothes last longer. This has never been a problem with previous washers. I take them out IMMEDIATELY as soon as the door unlocks and shake them out and hang everything to dry. This worked great previously and I never had to iron anything or put anything in the dryer to get wrinkles out. Now, this washer wrinkles my clothing to an unbelievable extent so that they need to be ironed or a round in the dryer to relax them. This is true on Wrinkle Guard and using the delicate setting, set between medium and none on the spin cycle. Wrinkle Guard? I don’t think so. This thing wrinkles my No Iron shirts so they will have to be ironed or steamed. The washer leaves lint like residue most all of the time on dark clothing from day one. I most recently did a load of black only clothes that I did on delicate, soil level between med to extra heavy, spin speed between med and none, and, because of the dirty clothes issue, I had the extra rinse on. The clothes came out dirtier looking than they went in and looked like I washed them with a box of tissues and too much soap. They looked dirtier than before I washed them and had a whitish and lint like residue on everything. So I ran them through the same cycle/extra rinse again but WITHOUT any soap. Unfortunately I didn’t watch to see how much water the machine sensed that these loads needed and I didn’t see how much water was there - but I did for other loads after - see the next problem below. After the second identical cycle, the clothes had the same residue which I photographed and have enclosed below. (And still a wrinkled mess.)We have found that the water sensor can’t sense the proper water level needed and is likely not functional. Sometimes it seems like it might almost be be appropriate and sometimes not at all. Specifically, after I ran the black load through, I decided to try a small red load before my usual large blue load just to see how much water there was. Same settings as above, 6 small items that barely covered the bottom of the drum and the washer sensed a medium load. Certainly by volume of clothing this was not a medium sized load and if it goes by weight, it was the smallest load possible! Medium water level… These clothes seemed to agitate ok because they were completely submerged in water and came out clean. Then I did the much larger blue load that filled the drummer then halfway. This had so many more items than the red load and weighed way more. I tried the same settings as above and this time the machine sensed a SMALL load and the water level was barely halfway up the clothes, if even that much. So half of the clothes were out of the water and we watched and witnessed that the clothes did not agitate properly. This load came out like the black load so I ran the whole cycle again including the double rinse. This time, the same load was sensed to be a MEDIUM load although NOTHING changed except that the clothes were damp and lower in the tub as they were compressed from having gone through the entire wash cycle. They came out mostly clean, after the second wash, again, likely because this time they were almost covered by the water (2/3rds or so) and could move around a little better but still not great agitation. There almost never seems to be quite enough water so that the clothes are not able to move by the agitator and sometimes we watch and can see that the clothes above the waters never get pulled into the water. I understand that this machine may not completely cover the clothes but this seems way short on water and the fact that things usually come out dirty means something is wrong. There is often so little water that the agitator can’t possibly work the clothes into the water. So, next I ran an Oxi cycle and witnessed that about half of the items were not in any water and were only wet because of the filling cycle not because they were moved around by the agitator. How can the oxi do its job if the clothes aren’t in the solution of at least wet from the solution which I didn’t see as likely as the clothes didn’t seem to move through much if at all?Along with the same water sensing problem, why on earth isn’t there a manual water adjustment? If the water sensor doesn’t work, the other option is only the high fill setting. After finding my clothes still dirty when we first got it, I tried the high fill setting to see if this would help but the clothes still came out with that residue. This was the very first few loads I ran and was assuming it was just user error so I studied the manual and tried everything as recommended. Since reading that residue can result from too much water, I use the recommended sensing feature now. So, we can either have too much water or barely any at all…
Freezer does not freeze well. Causes most our food to get freezer burned. We tried turning it up and down but made no difference. Actually went and bought a separate freezer for meats.
In the process of self cleaning mode, oven died with door locked. Thermostat and thermal fuse went out, couldnt get oven door open or control the situation in any way except pray for no fire and wait for hours till oven cooled down. Door could not be opened, it died in lock mode. Called repairman, already in to 2 repair bills, still not operating. Called Whirlpool and Maytag, no help!! But amazingly they have created a new kit for the blower unit in this oven, model # Mew7527AW00. I paid a bunch of money for this oven, which replaced a 40 yr. old oven that had been in its place, operating fine, but it was Aqua Blue!! Its so sad that a huge Company as this will not help with an almost new Oven??
This Maytag (1979 model) is about as good as other dishwashers (I always rinse before placing in machine). It does have a lot more buttons that are not used than the last one I used (installed in the 1950s). Delayed start, choice of preheating water or not, choice of drying. Not big enough to do everything when have company and too big to use when no visitors present. When I am alone it takes 3 months to get enough to fill the machine and by that time they are getting moldy so most of the time I wash by hand. Black glass front with imposing row of controls across the top. I normally do not generate enough dirty dishes to warrant having a dishwasher. Since my wife died I have used the dishwasher two to three times a year.
We purchased a Maytag washer and dryer from Lowes in the summer of 2016. The washer performed so so. Not a great machine. After only two years use, there is only my husband and myself, the transmission went out. The repairman said it would be cheaper to buy a new machine than repair it. Maytags 10-year warranty does not cover the transmission. We replaced the Maytag washer. I cant say anything good about Maytag.
I bought my Maytag Neptune washer and dryer in 08 or 09, and it has smelled like mold and mildew for years but I still have to use it because I cant afford to get a new one. I cant get the smell out. Also, I have to take the pump apart at least once a year due to the fact that sometimes, no matter how you check your pockets, change still gets left behind and they dont make a screen or filter that will keep the change out of the pump. It is not hard to do, but the first year I had it, it were in the service center as much as it was home. I was glad when someone told me what was happening because I fix it myself in like 15 minutes and move on. But it should come with a self service manual showing how to do this procedure to save people money.
MF12569YEM2 - Purchased refrigerator less than 2 1/2 years ago, also started having issues with ice forming in bottom freezer and leaking on to floor. I shut the water source off to the water/ice feature, but it didnt solve the problem. After getting on this site and seeing the issue is quite widespread it seems that it should be considered a manufacturing defect. This is the second (actually third) Maytag Refrigerator we have had, one had actually needed to be replaced about 13 years ago because of electrical problem which service man said could cause it to catch fire. The replacement (different model) worked fine for about 11 years... so we decided to try Maytag again... WHAT A MISTAKE! After reading about the multiple problems we can look forward to and endless service calls I too would never purchase any Maytag or Whirlpool appliances in the future...maybe the company should think about the impact on lost consumers!
Maytag 2000 series front load washer - f you are looking for a front load washer DO NOT buy a Maytag! I purchased a new front load washer dryer set late 2013 and have regretted to washer ever since. Continual electrical problems, door gasket needed replaced almost immediately AND the worst part is that it has ruined over $1000 worth of clothing due to it trapping cloth between the drum and door and wearing holes in them. No matter how I load the clothes or sort them it continues. I have contacted Maytag and was told I have no recourse as the warranty is over. I was very disappointed because I have had Maytag products in the past and had no problems. Please, think twice before buying this washer! It will cost much more than just the ticket price!!!
We purchased our home five years ago. We bought a new Maytag oven and fridge/freezer. Within one year, the oven control went out. Then a few months later, the heating element went out. Within two years, our fridge/freezer went out. I purchased Maytag products because of the commercial where the Maytag repairman is doing nothing. I will never purchase a Maytag product again.
I own a Maytag dishwasher - it is a few years old now. I first filed a complaint in 2011. We have had it repaired several times - the control panel keeps breaking. Why is it that my grandmothers old dishwasher worked for 30-40 years and now you are lucky if you can get an appliance that works for a year without breaking? This planned obsolescence is ridiculous. Do not buy Maytag products - hit them where it hurts - in the wallet. They used to build quality products, but not anymore. I contacted the law firm in California that another person had listed as they have started a class action lawsuit. Eppsteiner & Fiorica Attorneys, LLP, at 866-548-8857 - if you are having atrocious problems with your Maytag dishwasher (they mentioned Fridgidaire, too) - because of the control panel, please call. The company wont fix the issue unless they are forced to.
Maytag Centennial washer - Bought this washer brand new and after the first 2 months started having issues. The washer took FOREVER to fill and to complete a basic load took literally an hour or more. Then within the next 7 months it stopped spinning out the final spin cycle. Spin light would flash as would lid lock but wouldn’t spin the water so I had to manually unplug the machine then plug in out cycle on drain and spin and that worked 50 percent of the time. Repairman came out and said could be a number of issues but he said honestly it would cost me a lot less to just go buy a new washer! This is INSANE! I grew up with the Maytag repairman commercials and thought Maytag was still top of the line but LEMME TELL YA, IT AINT! The Centennial is a total piece of crap so PLEASE don’t purchase this machine as I can promise you will NOT be satisfied! MAYTAG, STEP UP YOUR GAME BECAUSE YOU SUCK.
In October of 2012 we bought a Maytag Refrigerator Model MFF2258VEM. In the spring and summer of 2014, we noticed puddling on our kitchen floor. We thought it was our dishwasher or sink since the $1800+ fridge was new, but couldnt find the problem. We travel a lot and are gone for extended periods. When we returned in winter of 2014, we discovered that there was substantial puddling and found a sheet of ice in the bottom of the freezer compartment. We did research and found that this is a common problem with all the bottom-freezer Maytag models, which then leak. We discovered that the leak had seeped into our kitchen sub-floor and was destroying all of our kitchen floor tile, causing cracking and breaking, a renovation of just a few years previous that cost a lot of money. There was NO problem with the floor until we put in this Maytag refrigerator. The remedy for the leaking is constant maintenance and a lot of work, totally ridiculous for a product that costs so much. I want to sue Maytag for both replacement of the refrigerator and the cost of replacement of my tile floor. Can someone please advise? Thank you.
We are on our 2nd Maytag refrigerator in 6 years and both units have failed. Maytag will not stand behind their product and the service company declined to come out to look at the unit because we were upset and contacting the BBB. So we have spent thousands on 2 refrigerator units that have lasted 2.5 to 3 years a piece. If I could give no stars I would and I would advise to look at other companies and models.
Bought this Bravo washer from a Sears Outlet Store. Had trouble the first 2 weeks and did all the troubleshooting to no avail. Just when I was ready to return it to the store I decided to try one more thing. The guys who hooked it up had reversed the water hoses - cold was hooked up to the hot intake, and hot water was hooked up to the cold intake. Took all of 5 minutes to switch the hoses to the correct intake and the machine works like a charm. MAKE SURE THE WATER IS HOOKED UP CORRECTLY.
Centennial commercial tech. washer - We purchased this piece of junk in Sept 2013, and had to have a repairman twice before it was six weeks in my home. I wrote several letters but the only thing that I received were applications for insurance to cover repairs. I should have received a replacement as it was bad from day one, but Maytag doesnt replace!!! Its been semi-reliable for the past several months, until early this year. It started jerking when it changed cycles, sounding as if the drum was hitting really hard against the sides. It has continued to do that regularly; now it wont function on the cycle its set on. It wont spin, sometimes the lid lock wont work. It starts filling when it should be draining. This evening, it stayed in the rinse cycle for 40 minutes and when I realized it was still rinsing I had to unplug it to get it stopped. It goes on and on, (and so could I out of frustration). The good name of Maytag has turned to trash, and when it leaves my home, no more Maytags!!! PS. The dryer we got with it takes at least 1 1/2 full cycles to dry a load, and since I couldnt get it to spin properly, Ill be lucky to get this last load dry in 2 to 2 1/2 cycles.
We purchased our Maytag Bravos just under two years ago. Over the past month or so, we noticed the spin cycle was getting louder and louder. Today we had the service man come out. He informed us that our 2-year-old machine will require new bearings and a new basket, which equates to over $700 in repairs. The repairman said he has seen more and more of this with these high efficiency washers. He suggested that anyone buying these new washers be sure to buy the extended warranty.I for one am completely disappointed that one can spend that much money for a washer with a two-year shelf life. I personally think this is planned obsolescence created by the manufacturers. The serviceman also said the LG versions of these washers have a large increase in electronic problems. Be warned, we have very few choices these days so buyers beware.
Refrigerator 1F122269VEM7 not making ice, shelves broke, freezer drawers stuck, and motor running like an automobile. Refrigerator only 2 years old. Paid 4000 dollars and this is not acceptable. Reviews online very disappointing. Other reviews on this product not good. People having all kinds of products with not resolve.
The machine had automatic fill which did not allow enough water to rinse the clothes properly. I had to run another cycle to rinse the clothes. The machine was also extremely loud. When I had a warranty repairman come out concerning these two item as it was brand new, I was told I should have researched better. I gave it away after 3 months.
We bought a New Condo, all New Maytag appliances with a 10 yr. warranty, the microwave is a built-in model. I cant believe weve only been here a year and eight months and it just stop working. We use it for heating and short timed cooking like 1 to 2 minutes. I would think a name brand product would last a lot longer than this. I had an off brand microwave for five years before the condo. A couple of times the microwave door didnt close, I thought I forgot to close it. But after reading your reviews I now realize its one of the defects of the product. I called the Maytag company, they informed me that if a serviceman come out to fix it, it will cost me $180 until they can determine if the cause is something covered by their warranty??? The Home Builders bought Maytag junk and passed us the cost, now Maytag wants me to pay to see if their junk can be fixed??? Wow!!! This is unbelievable!
We bought our Maytag washer and dryer a bit over 5 years ago. Now the UL warning comes on. Found out it will be over $400 to fix it. It only cost $500 new. Repairman says it is very common and not to pay him to fix it. Our GE went 20 years. Lesson learned, wife is out looking at new GE.
My son gave me a Maytag washer for Christmas 2013. I hate it. Sometimes it takes me 5 tries to get my clothes washed, and then it dont go all the way through the cycle. I have to constantly check on it. I hate it. Can you give me some tips on what may be causing this... Very disappointed.
My Maytag washer MVWB400VQ was purchased four years ago and was used by two people. It started making a sound like an airplane taking off and is very loud. We called a service technician who said the outer tub was gone. I called Maytag to see if there was a recall or warranty of some kind. At that point I was told they do have a warranty but could not sell it to me because I had already had someone diagnose the issue. I paid $800 for the machine and the difference between the repair and the warranty was $40, so I thought it would be smarter to have some type of coverage if anything else went wrong. Nope they will not give you the coverage. The moral of the story is they really do not want to provide customer service unless you are unaware of the actual repairs needed so they can get more $$ from you.
In September 2008, I purchased a Maytag washing machine (Model MTW5700TQ0) that had a faulty transmission. The machine was immediately replaced. Three years later, the transmission is again faulty. Maytag has refused any responsibility for repair or replacement.
I have had this washer (top loading washer model MVWX550XW0) almost 2 years. It has ruined some of my clothes. It does not properly wash anything. I have tried every possible solution. I cannot use the HE powder detergent - it will not rinse out. I tried using less than required and double rinse, absolutely did not overload. Even using the HE liquid still did not get clothes clean. I used the number one detergent to the cheaper brand - it makes no difference. I still have to double rinse everything. Small throw rugs will not even get totally wet or clean. I took clothes to the laundromat just to make sure it was the washer. It is this washer. I know I have waited too long to register my complaint, but I have basically thrown away $1200. Also, loads of clothes would take up to 1 & 1/2 to 2 hours to wash. Now that is definitely not energy efficient. I would love for you to pick it up and bring me a standard washer and dryer. I work for a research firm and know when companies really care about their customers. I will be interested to see if the Maytag Man really cares. The only reason I did not check angry is because of my delayed response.
Very Poor Quality from Maytag Although (Dishwasher, model MDB8959AWS) - I knew Maytag always had a reputation of selling quality products I have never purchased a Maytag appliance because they usually cost more than other brands, so this is my 1st Maytag product. After ~25 months (after all warranties have expired), the unit stops working. The lights seem to have a mind of their own. I removed power from the unit for 1/2 hour attempting to re-boot the computer but the condition did not change. After researching the issue online, I found that Maytag has a two big problems: 1) Defective dishwashers, 2) Bad or no customer service.I am an engineer and this type of a problem (it happens from time to time) MUST be acknowledged and the customer made whole or the reputation of the company is destroyed and future sales will (and should) diminish to the point that the company may(?) go away for ever. I know products are not designed to last a lifetime like they were in the 60s & 70s but 3.3 years for a $650.00 appliance is way out of line. The dishwasher we replaced was ~18 years old, and we only replaced it because my wife wanted a more modern look.
Bought this washer and dryer 3 1/2 years ago mainly because of Maytag name and reputation. They were very expensive to purchase. The washer is a piece of junk 3 1/2 years old used for my wife and I and leaks oil all over the floor. Called repair man to come and look at it, wasnt here 5 minutes said transmission is shot. Cost over $400 to have it repaired. We are junking it and that will be the last Maytag product I ever own.
We purchased all new Maytag appliances when we built our house. So far, the stove/oven has quit working and been repaired 3 times; its always the ignitor. The dishwasher has been fixed twice. The washer no longer spins out as it should. The refrigerator and dryer so far have run okay. I am definitely going to change brands with my new appliances. I will not purchase Maytag again. Its not what it used to be. I will do without oven this time, until I can buy a new one. Also, the dishwasher door has had problems from day 1, and now, it will not close at all. It seems like its off the hinge. Definitely, its not the Maytag of years ago.
We had this washer 16 months. We bought it new from Home Depot. The clothes came out with spots on them, white residue and grease spots. This was ongoing for awhile. The bearings went out after 6 months. It was so loud now the water pump went out. I was told by Whirlpool (they bought out Maytag) that water pump is on back order and could take a couple of months!! To fix the bearings and the water pump was almost 700.00. A new washer is 1000.00. We junked it and had to buy a new washer GE. We are sick about this waste of money!!! What a piece of JUNK this Maytag Bravos XL is!! We need to have a class action suit and try to get something back. This is ridiculous and they arent taking responsibility. Whirlpool/Maytag are rip offs!!!!
Have not had either inspected, but last night the dryer started to rumble and then caught on fire... Fireman suspected bearing bad and caused a spark igniting dryer; washer has started making a shrill loud noise on the spin cycle.
The control panel of our Maytag dishwasher stopped working when it was approximately 14 months old. We repaired it ourselves by following a reset directions we found online (push rinse button 5 times and then the cancel button twice). Also we cut the power to reset. Im not sure which of those two tasks reset it, but it worked until last week - now 28 months old. We are not able to reset the panel using any information that we can find. In trying to find repair options, we discover that there are a lot of complaints about the Maytag dishwashers control panels not working within just a couple of years. In speaking with Maytag, they tell me theres a class action law suit for this problem - meaning they do realize there is an obvious problem with their control panels, but are not acknowledging they have any responsibility to repair it. The law suit only covers the cost of the part but not the labor. The labor can cost between $100 - at the lowest - and up. Our Maytag dishwasher model # is MDB8949SAM1. Also noteworthy, our Maytag clothes washer gave out at less than 5 years. Maytag is no longer the company we all thought they were. Additionally, their faulty machines are costing their customers a lot of extra money. Not exactly what I would call a company with good customer service or even any ethics. We will never buy Maytag again.
I love my Maytag. It does a good job, however, it takes almost an hour to run one load. Also, if you have a heavy load, it doesn’t spin long enough so your clothes are dripping when you take them out.
We purchased a full house of Maytag appliances to support American Made (ourselves). It is very disappointing that our Maytag dishwasher Model # MBD 89595BW3 has completely quit functioning properly. All the lights came on and nothing worked after that. We contacted Maytag and was told to turn off the power and restart after 2 minutes which did absolutely nothing. No problem - try again. Again, nothing. The disappointment is compounded by the fact that this dishwasher is only 2 years 7 months old. It is too bad that an American Made product didnt last long enough to show any wear and tear. Investigation to repair resulted in cost prohibitive investment. So sorry Maytag, we gave it a shot. Moving on to a more reliable rated brand.
We bought a new Maytag electric range from a local dealer three years ago. The oven element quit working, which shorted out the motherboard that controls the entire range. The cost of repair was $500 for the element, motherboard and installation. We have owned other brands that lasted 20 years and worked fine with no repairs. My folks have used Maytag for over 50 years with no problems. Who and where is this junk manufactured now? China? I will never buy another Maytag product!
Weve had 2 Maytag washers that lasted a combined 41 years. Five years ago we purchased a Bravos XL top load washing machine directly from Whirlpool. Like many other reviews, it is impossible to keep the machine from going out of balance and trying to tear the laundry room apart. I called Maytag and of course they want to make sure the machine is level in at least 3 dimensional space as well as 2 parallel dimensions per String Theory. As far as the 3 dimensions, I assured them I had already thought of this (as an aside, ever try to find any flat metal on one of these machines? Kind of helps when using a level.)So after more exciting conversation, they offered me a Warranty for $437. While trying to control my laughter, I said I could trash the Bravos and buy a new machine for that price. As far as repairing it, it cost $120 for a repairman to grace my door step plus $35 every 15 minutes plus parts -- again, the decision is to trash it and buy a new machine. In case I was too subtle in my comments, I WILL NEVER BUY A WHIRLPOOL PRODUCT AGAIN. Im too frustrated to tell you about my KitchenAid fridge. As much as I detest it, I am forced to join the buy and trash 5 year club . Sometimes the good old days were really better.
Purchased a Maytag Atlantis washer at Lowes in 2004. Until recently it worked without any problems; however, the agitator never seemed to work quite right. Normally, an agitator rotates in such a way that the auger action of the vanes pulls the clothes in toward the middle and then down into the water such that you have a continuous cycle of clothing being pulled down the middle, agitated at the bottom, then pushed up the outside. This one agitated but the clothing would just go round and round in the tub. Everything managed to get clean enough, but clearly something was amiss. Recently, the spin cycle became loud. A rumble became a loud roar over the course of a few cycles. Then I noticed water on the floor coming from under the washer. The short story is that the center shaft seals had just worn out. After almost 12 years of use, thats not surprising. Whats surprising is that it had worked so long without any issues other than the agitator.I took it apart and, to my dismay, the water had gotten into everything so that some of the metal parts were hard to remove. After having determined what replacement parts were necessary, I ordered them, but then placed additional orders for parts that probably would wear out eventually. So I ended up doing a near-complete rebuild. Other than the difficulty of taking some of the parts apart, and removing/installing the tub springs, it was actually pretty easy. I have reassembled, and now it seems to work flawlessly... so far. About the agitator: I found that shims are used on the transmission shaft to adjust tension. Too much tension and the clothes just ride around the tub; like mine did. Too little tension probably results in the thing not agitating at all (I dont really know). Once the washer is apart its easy to set the tension (insert the shim washers) correctly. There is a clip that holds the shim washers in place on the shaft. It was really tight; somewhat difficult to remove. One of the shims wouldnt fit when I tried to reassemble. As it turned out, that was a good thing. My research on this model revealed the way to get the proper tension. My assessment is that whoever assembled this washer at Maytag (or whoever builds these) assembled it incorrectly! Another thing I found out - after I ordered/received parts, unfortunately - is that there are two types of tub/shaft seal sets for this washer. I ended up replacing the newer type seals with the older type. Everything fits, but I may be losing out on a newer, better design. Well see. Overall, I am very pleased and impressed with the longevity and reliability of the MAV9501EWW washer. I have had Kenmore and Whirlpool; neither of which was nearly as durable and reliable. I hope this is helpful to someone.
Updated on 01/21/2019: I have contacted Maytag numerous times with no results. I purchased a washer and dryer on 2/7/2018 and the dryer takes hours to dry my clothes. I contacted them 2 months after my purchase and then waited and contacted again and again. I have contacted them numerous time with nobody contacting me back. I want a complete full refund in the amount of $1031.06! I want to purchase another washer and dryer from someone else and purchase both so they match.Original Review: Maytag MCT Dryer - The washer I purchase is great but the dryer doesnt dry worth anything. Dont buy it. Takes me hours to dry one load and the only reason I purchased this was because my old dryer was drying less but actually was better than this one. The time sensored dryer isnt worth 5 cents. So disappointed! I have had it 2 months, paid cash at Lowes and so unhappy!
Brand new Maytag dishwasher, model #MDB6709AWBO, installed after one year warranty because of extended time needed to complete kitchen. It just never worked. Repairman says control panel faulty. Sears wont help or replace. Sears’ service is extremely poor, over one hour on phone transferred over and over and then told too bad by a Supervisor. After checking this site, I realized Maytag suck. And what to do now that I paid $700++ for fancy dishwasher that doesnt work. By looking at other peoples complaint, it will break down over and over.
Owned my Maytag Maxima front loading HE washer for just under 2 years. Went to turn it on one day and got an error code that I later found out meant the computer board went bad (a very costly expense). I called Maytag and explained that a $1200 washing machine should last more than 23 months and if they stand behind their products they should do something to cover this repair. Even after speaking to a manager they told me too bad they couldnt help me. But they would be happy to sell me a $350 extended warranty.... Never again Maytag/Whirlpool!
I purchased an automatic dishwasher for $660.00 on or about Aug of 2007 (Mod #MDB6759AWS3 ser # NY3417703). It was a model about to be discontinued however still carried the full one year warranty. After install one year and 28 days it failed. The tech described a faulty computer board and a replacement cost of $885.00, a cost of $215.00 more than it originally cost!! They did offer a warranty of one year after we installed the new part but at a cost of $215.00 more than we originally paid! Maytag promotes their brand as reliable. However I dispute this claim.
I have called this company several times. Most of the time, they tell you that you need to call another department...which means you spend even more time on hold. This washing machine is only 3 years old. I will never buy another Maytag/Whirlpool product again!
Maytag Dishwasher model #MDB7759SAW3 continues the Whirlpool company legacy of subpar control panels in all of their dishwashers. It is telling that they have been allowed to market the exact same failing parts for well over a decade without any accountability. They had one recall circa 2007-2010 and pushed customers into purchasing the model I have which suffers from the exact same control panel design. To further frustrate the consumer experience, Maytag customer service reps and supervisors allege that they have never heard of a customer having issues with their dishwasher control panel before. The panel beeps endlessly and refuses user input regardless of whether the door is opened or closed. After a power disconnect it will reset and sometimes allow one load to be washed before resuming the non stop beeping. If opened and closed during the beeping it will cycle through a completely new wash cycle on its own and resume beeping. Maytag customer service response this morning was, “thank you for being a Maytag customer”.We will my be purchasing their replacement control panels as they are of poor quality and it is well documented that the new ones fail annually as well. These are “high end” appliances and are not inexpensive. We will simply cease to use whirlpool, Maytag, Kenmore, Kitchenaid, etc. brands in our home and will advise everyone we know to protect themselves the same way.
