Maytag Refrigerator Model MBF2258FEZ
I bought a Bravo XL Washer 3 yrs ago for $900 to $1000. The washer started beeping and not starting to eventually not turning on. I called customer service as I was told my washer was still under warranty. They scheduled a service man to come out with a $95 charge to come out. He came and it is the user interface. Apparently, this is a huge issue with this type of washer. He told me it would be cheaper to get a new washer than to have this one fixed. I called Whirlpool/Maytag after the fact and was told the part is $422.49 to fix the washer. I explained that I was told it was still under warranty and they denied this is the case. My previous washer I had for 18 years and not problems until the end. Having a washer for 3 years and being told to purchase another one because it would be too expensive to fix the current one is very disheartening! I do not recommend this product to anyone, nor do I recommend the company as they do not try to make things right or offer any assistance in any way! Buyer Beware.
I purchased two Maytag appliances; PC-touch control 500 Electric Smoothtop and a dishwasher. In less than two years, I have spent over $1,000.00 repairing these two appliances. With my stove, I have replaced the PC control board and the oven light kit. Less than a year and a half, I now need to replace the PC control board again. I have been a Maytag customer since 1976. The dishwasher had a recall for the heat element and I replaced the control panel control board and door lock switch and the main control board. I will never buy Maytag again.
I purchased a Maytag 2000 series washing machines. It broke and needed to be repaired within six months of purchase. It continued to break and need to be repaired numerous times and its only a little over 1 1/2 years old. It ripped and ruined clothing on numerous occasions. It would not drain and the door would lock with clothing inside thus ruining them. Both of these issues occurred on more than one occasion. Maytags solution for their defective washer was to keep referring me to my warranty. They were no help at all. My warranty finally came through for me and I was issued a full refund through the warranty I purchased at the time I purchased the washer. My new washer (which is not a Maytag) is being delivered Friday. So finally after being without a washer for over two weeks I will be able to wash clothes again. My experience with Maytag was frustrating and aggravating to say the least and I will definitely never purchase Maytag again. They are far from reliable.
I bought a Maytag washer (Centennial) because of its reputation. I didnt even realize this site was out here and would have made another selection had I known. I bought the washer on June 7th of 2011. On June 15, 2012, the washer just quit working. I called Maytag. They said since the warranty was over that I had to pay a technician to come out and it would cost $129. I was upset but I had to have a washer so I scheduled it. The tech came out and said the motherboard was bad. He said that this has been a common problem with this machine and that Maytag should actually recall the part. The replacement part was much better. He suggested I call and complain. The part was $180. He said that Maytag may reimburse me because it was so close to the warranty cut off. I called Maytag to explain the situation, and what do you think their response was? Since you already paid for it, there isnt anything we can do. Nice! What a joke. I will never buy another product from them and neither should anyone else.
We received our new Maytag French door refrigerator today via delivery and got everything set up and magnets stick to the front. The last I checked magnets should not stick to stainless steel. So I called the Menards where we purchased the refrigerator almost 2 1/2 weeks ago and the store manager said there was metal liner under the stainless steel and states this on the technical specifications. And everywhere I went to look under the technical specifications NOWHERE does it state there is a metal liner underneath and even if there was the top is stainless steel regardless so why would magnets stick to it. I paid for a Maytag and basically got a cheap piece of crap Frigidaire or Whirlpool and paid extra for Maytag to stick a Maytag label on it. What a joke. If I have any other problems I will personally deliver this refrigerator to Maytag/whirlpool corporate and put it on the front step. I am VERY ANGRY!!
Bravo XL washer and dryer - I had the washer approx 2 months before it leaked water all over the laundry room. The company replaced the washer after two weeks. Now the dryer has gone out after two years. If it cost me the amount stated by other consumers I wont be fixing it.
Dishwasher worked fine for the first 12.5 months, and lo and behold 1 month after the warranty expired, I had my first repair, a new motor. A few months later, I had my second problem, the thermostat. A few months later, I called Maytag because I thought that the control panel was probably shot (based on my previous Maytag for which I replaced the control panel 4 times, before Maytag finally agreed to get me a new dishwasher). At that point they sold me an extended warranty which for 300 they would make this repair, and any other repairs for the next year. They have been out 7, yes 7 times, in 4 months. They would probably be out more often, but since it has been difficult to get a repair person out here, more time than not Im washing dishes by hand. Their customer service is horrible, their products worse. Still waiting for the dishwasher to be repaired. They wont send out a different company, even though they have been out here 7 times, and keep coming back. Even when it is repaired, they will not cover the cost to replace the soap bin, the racks, the wheels on the rack, and all the little pieces made out of the same quality plastic as the stuff I buy at the Dollar Store (except when that stuff breaks, it doesnt ruin my hardwood floors). Dont buy a Maytag, roll up some $100 bills and light a match, because you can look at a pretty flame and wont raise your blood pressure dealing with their customer service.
I am extremely disappointed with Maytag and the representatives I spoke with this evening. One laughed after I told her I was 7 months pregnant and without a fridge for a week after owning it less than a year. I was repeatedly and curtly told, We dont cover that, when I asked only to replace the recent food I had purchased. After having to request a manager several times, I was put on the phone with Dana ID ** who said she would not be able to help with any food despite the delay of a week for repairs to our fridge. However, she could extend our warranty for 6 months. The only reason we were able to get someone out as early as we did was because we knew a licensed Maytag service repair company. Otherwise, we would still be waiting for someone to come out to tell us it would be another week before repairs. The originally assigned service repair company by Maytag did not return our call. There was no concern or empathy from the Maytag representatives that I was pregnant and could have eaten food that was not cooled to prevent bacteria growth that would harm me and my baby.Even their service repair technician recommended to contact them about the spoiled food since it was impossible for the repairs to be completed before the end of the week. We will never purchase Maytag again. The appliance failed with no warning in less than a year, and the representatives made no effort to resolve our issue of being without food for a week.
We paid over 2000.00 for our refrigerator in May 2011 and within a year ice started forming on the bottom and then leaking out on to the floor. Every week I have to get out large beach towel to lay under the pull out drawer, break up the built up ice and then pull it out onto the towel. I too called Maytag who said it was out of warranty. Now today I notice a significant temperature drop in the refrigerator and freezer. Whats odd is that the day before yesterday the freezer was so cold the ice cream was solid as a rock. I have not changed the factory settings since it was installed. I HATE MAYTAG!!!
I have only had this machine a few months and am completely dissatisfied. It sounds like a jet taking off and uses so little water. The clothing does not come clean and wrinkles are close to impossible to iron out.
We purchased a new Maytag Bravo washer and dryer on March 4, 2011. On January 26, 2015, our washer stopped spinning the clothes. We purchased these appliances while preparing for retirement, thinking we would possibly never have to purchase them again. There is only two of us! Wrote to Maytag (when it was still Maytag) and got a response of So sorry **, we can fix your washer for $319.00. We could buy a new washer for not much more than that!!!!!
Wish it was a French door style instead of freezer on top. Not good if you are tall. Other than that we are pleased with it but will look to trade for a French door style.
I bought a new top loader Maytag washer and dryer on 1/1/16. My first experience with the washer was as many in has stated - It Doesnt Clean, the clothes, also I have trouble with the fact that is there is a string loose, it become worst. Why did they improve a product that did not need improving. They just made it worst. It is totally **. Im stuck with it as I cannot afford another washer. The dryer work fine.
I purchased my first Maytag (Bravo Washer) appliance in 2013 and thought this washer would last me for a minimum of 10 years. It started making noises occasionally right away but I wasnt too concerned until it started sounding like someone was banging on it with a sledge hammer. I waited 8 days for a repairman who told me the bearings were going out and it would cost $400-500 to repair. This is the worst washing machine ever manufactured. My advice is to buy any other brand. Dont be fooled by the Maytag hype. Their quality is nonexistent. I am shopping for a new washer.
Bought top of line Maytag dryer and washer in 2011. Immediately had problems with dryer. Dryer resets timer itself to outrageous times. Clothes so dry they could have been parchment. This has continued with multiple service calls and electronics replaced. Still continuing but they will not act lemon law. I have extended warranties but get runaround everyone including Sears where I bought it pointing to each other. Tech came out today and said problem was the way the dryer is. No way to change it. I guess that is nature of the beast. I will never buy Maytag or from Sears again.
I am submitting this review today to express my disappointment with my Maytag washer. This is the Maytag MVWX655DW (Bravo), with Serial# C61842055. In August of 2016 I lost many treasured items due to a flood in Lafayette, Louisiana. My daughter and I were devastated and displaced because of this event. This is also in addition to completing Cancer treatment 2 days before the flood.I lost my GE washer which was a great product. It was a struggle for a long time, but we were finally get back on our feet. I was able to get another place to live, and it was time to purchase a washer. I was told that Maytag was one of the best products on the market, so I decided to purchase my first Maytag washer. This did not turn out well for me, and it was very disappointing. After 9 months of ownership of this product, it is broken! It is my belief that the product may have been defective.I put in a service call, and had a repairman come to my apartment on June 19th. I was told that my washer needs several parts to repair it, including a pump. I have never had this issue with prior washers. My previous washer before my GE purchase survived for over 10 years before it has had any issues. I called on June 26th to ask about Maytag issuing me a new washer or a full refund, instead of repairing this faulty product. I was told no, and was offered and extended warranty for 6 more months and $75.00. I expressed to her that I would rather have a new washer. The Bravo Washer is a very bad product. Instead of taking advantage of customers, Maytag needs to stand by that 10 year warranty sticker on the washer. Please understand this purchase is a LEMON. This washer did not last a year. After all I have been through, I did not need this financial hardship. In the long run, this product will die again. Unfortunately for me I may not be able to afford to purchase another washer. I am still getting follow-up treatment for my Cancer, and it is very expensive. Can someone please re-evaluate the need for a replacement washer or offer me a full refund? This product should not be broken after only 9 months of service.
We love our Maytag Dishwasher! It's very durable, doesn't use a lot of water and really gets our dishes exceptionally clean. The best part is that it sterilizes on the final cycle! We've long trusted any Maytag appliance in our families for generations.
I purchased a Maytag range with self-clean oven. Manual says to put 2 cups of water to self-clean and no cleaning is done. I called Maytag and they said it is environmentally friendly and the rest of baking stains I have to scrub myself. This is totally unacceptable. I also cannot clean with easy off, it will damage the inside of the oven according to Maytag customer service. I do a lot of baking. What am I supposed to do now, live and cook with a dirty oven! Ugh!
I have a 26 cu. ft. side by side Model MZD2665HES, like most folks in my neighborhood (spec homes). The icemaker died and service was called. They looked at solenoid, and replaced the ice maker assembly as a wag that it was the problem.. still no ice, but the water was still able to be called. I replaced filter- still water only, no ice. Little did we know it was the filler tube blocked with ice, and the service man didnt once suggest turning off the water service. SO, every time water was called to either make ice or to fill a cup with, it put intense pressure on the point of assembly where the water line comes into the fridge (water inlet tube). A pin hole developed in the little plastic bit (water inlet tube plate) and every time the water was called to ice, guess what happened - it shot right out the back on drywall.Almost $20,000 dollars worth of damage to wood floor (warped), drywall (jello), and flooring (carpet) ensued. Mold was all over and had to be contained and treated for days to be fixed. Im still duking it out with service repairman and insurance companies. My advise: If you have this fridge or anything like it and the ice maker stops working, IMMEDIATELY shut down the water supply, turn the fridge off and check the filler tube in the back for ice blockage. Probably a good idea to pull the fridge forward once in a while and check the back for water also.
I had a GE washer and dryer when I first moved to my new home - lasted 15 years. Then... bought a set of Maytag and they have both been the biggest pain in the world. Spent 3000 and Im ready to toss them after 3 years. Dont buy Maytag!!!
Recently started having puddles of water on floor every morning. Just noticed a thick sheet of ice on freezer floor when I had trouble closing the freezer door. Also the water dispenses very slowly. Removed filter and it would not dispense at all. Will try melting the sheet of ice to see if that helps. Purchased 2011.
I purchased Maytag refrigerator (model # MSD2572VES). The fridge side stopped working. I was told that the vent/chute between the freezer and fridge ices up and prevents the cold air from the freezer to go through the fridge. The tech said that Maytag was sending him a tube of silicone to apply all around freezer and fridge and that this will probably fix the problem. So in other words, because of a design flaw, the refrigerator cannot function without adding silicone (maybe). I believe I purchased a lemon with a design flaw and they want me to accept a permanent band-aid as the solution. Shouldnt I have right to demand another model instead of having to accept a cheap alternative (silicone)? Now, if factory installed parts break off, can you imagine silicone tubed in after the fact where there was no silicone crevasse? I cant imagine it staying on - permanently.
I am very satisfied with my Maytag washer and dryer. Had it for 10+ years. No complaints. It’s easy to set the machine according to my preference for each load of clothes. The dryer is great. Settings on the machines are very easy to use. This is important since I have a vision problem.
A lot of repairs in 6 years from belts. It leaks water around seal on door. Only part of the cycles work. I would not recommend the Maytag washer to anyone. When I got it I expected or hoped it would last 10 years or more.
Have owned Maytags (washer and dryers) for 40 years. I bought a Bravos top load washer and matching dryer because we gave our old set to a daughter leaving for college. That was less than four years ago! We bought this because it conserved water and there would only be my husband and myself home. So laundry needs would be minimal. The washer quit draining and starting making a terrible noise several days ago. Immediately called repair service - I knew from the onset this was going to be a big problem because when I told them the model, they responded - uh oh! Two days later service man comes to assess repair and lifts machine up and tells me bad seal has leaked to gear box and ruined it. Soooo for a machine that is less than 4 years old, I will have to pay $280 for part, $79 for service call, $60 for labor and $35 to have them pick it up and redeliver (because the repair is too big to be made in my home). $454 for a machine that gets minimal use!!!! I can add another $100 plus and buy a brand new machine. Why should I have to??? In doing some research, I found out this is a common issue with this model and Maytag has paid for the repair of other washers because it is a common problem. Even the serviceman said that and recommended I get a hold of Maytag. Their response - sorry mam you dont gave an extended warranty. (NOW I HAVE A LEMON!) Guess my next step is to write a letter to Maytag Corporate Office. I will keep going up the ladder until they address this flawed machine problem! One thing is for certain - I will never ever buy another Maytag product of any kind or will I ever recommend it. They are just not reliable. Guess, nowadays they are considered throw away products - keep them a few years and throw them away because its not worth your money and effort to repair them :-(
About 6 years ago we purchased a new french door style refrigerator. It lasted one year and one month then needed over $700 in repairs. First you need to know I am into electronics, DeVry graduate with 30+ years experience in repairing electronic devices. The Maytag basically frosted over in the freezer and was warm in the upper part of the fridge. I called a friend who had experience fixing fridges and lo and behold we found something really unusual. The way this machine operates is by blowing the cold air from the freezer up into the fridge. There is a fan located in the back of the freezer wall that does this. We found the fan, which was mounted in a grey box, spinning at about 2 revolutions a minute. My friend took me to the wholesale parts distributor he uses and we gave them the brand (Maytag) model (MFD2561HES) and they gave us a fan... just a fan with two wires. No grey box with fan inside... At this point I got curious, I mean WTF?!?The grey box was made not to be opened and I had to get clever so as to not damage whatever was inside it. After getting it open I discovered the fan inside was wired to a circuit board which upon inspection was a timing circuit. This is why the fan still turned only too slow to function. The new fan was installed and my only problem with the fridge now is the ice maker, which I disconnected. Conclusion: Maytag actually designed this fridge to break down and require hundreds of dollars of repairs AFTER the warranty expired by installing a timing circuit that disables the fan that drives the cool air to the upper part of the fridge to keep your food cold and your freezer frost free. Replace the grey box with a normal fan and youll get years of good use out of your French Door Maytag! As long as you clean the seals regularly and dont mind buying ice to fill the tray with... The repair cost me $39 and a six pack of beer for my friend.
A refrigerator we have had for just two years has been leaking water from the freezer and damaged our hardwood floor. We thought it was someone dropping ice or leaving the freezer drawer open but no, there is an admitted problem with the mechanism. No coverage from Maytag for the cost of fixing THEIR MISTAKE. The company doesnt seem to care. Got the run around from their management.
Purchased a Maytag Electric range Model MER8800FZ2 in 2019. The surface Scratched the first week of purchase and the stains will not come off. When I called customer service they claim they are not responsible for cosmetics. In my opinion, This model was put together with the cheapest material they could find. Maytag is not what it used to be. The Elements take a long time to heat up. Inside the oven, the Glazed Paint is cheap product also where once it stains with food it never comes off.
I purchased Maytag fridge a year ago and it has been a nightmare. The freezer doesnt freeze items. the drawers were all damaged upon receiving. I have contacted Maytag for more than 10 times and 5 techs came that I paid 125 each visit to fix the fridge because I didnt purchase the warranty thinking it was a good product . It is not! They dont stand behind their word. They lie and they send unqualified techs the misdiagnose issue to collect service calls. Please avoid this brand by all cost. My experience is terrible and I never want to wish it on anyone.
Washer sounds like gearing is broken, is noisy during operation, various combinations of options dont work, appearance of only one agitation cycle combination on washer, just many settings but all with the same response; dryer does not timely dry clothes, all settings default to the same palpable heat temperature; clothes take much longer to dry in new dryer than they did in old Maytag. Newer Maytag set appears to be secondhand garbage sold as new by Menards. Company unresponsive to complaints.
These are the issues, Water level is ridiculous, clothes often have dry spots, I use only the high water level which is a joke. The tub bottom is very hard to reach because it is too deep even for a man with a long reach. The tub itself is about 16” deep but never fills more than 4” of water on the high water setting. Why such a deep wide tub when you can only put 4” of water? Cleaning is poor, the machine is very noisy, very. The worst machines we have ever purchased with ridiculous sensors, bells and whistles. The dryer takes forever to dry clothes and again the sensors are a joke. The high efficiency of the units means you work much longer for clothes that are wrinkled, spotted, less clean looking and sometimes damaged. Where is the savings? And don’t say hydro and water as the washer cleaner cost, wipes that out and more. We gave our 26 year old machines to Habitat, neither machine was ever serviced and were in perfect condition, they were Maytag. They have destroyed their name. So sorry we decided to modernize our laundry room.
This washer does not distribute enough water to wash clothes properly. I continually take clothes out of washer that are not completely wet. My darker clothes have white spots of detergent on them that did not get rinsed off. This product should be pulled from the stores. We have tried everything, using deep water wash, bedding wash, to get more water in the machine. Our clothes are not coming out clean. Complete waste of our money!
Thats right. We bought it in September 2010, and it worked fine for two years. This week, our Maytag (Model: MDB7609AWW2) simply stopped turning on. The appliance repair guy pointed out that Maytag has a horrible record which the new owners (Whirlpool) do not seem to be concerned with because even though they know these electronics are dying very quickly, the replacement parts are exactly the same (unchanged). The cost to replace the suspected failed parts is somewhere around $250. The repair guy just said, I can do it, but its going to break again. His suggestion is to shop for the cheapest dishwasher out there since even the most expensive ones fail so quickly. This particular model has a huge amount of the same complaints.
We do not use the range daily. Our household consists of only two persons. First time we operated the self-cleaning feature on the oven the outer pane of the double glass pane door had what appeared to be grease stains and dirt. In as much as it is a SEALED double pane glass door there is no access to the outer pane to clean it. The double range was only 16 months old and was purchased at RC Willey in Henderson, NV. We also purchased ALL Maytag appliances for our kitchen i.e. refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, washer and dryer on the same date. In addition we purchased furniture for the entire house at RC Willey. The Service Department at RC Willey advised me to access the Whirlpool website for assistance or to call an independent service repair contractor at my expense. THANKS MAYTAG! After having had your laundry appliances for over 30 years, without any service problems whatsoever, I was lulled in a false sense of security over the quality of your appliances. Now I have a household full of Maytag appliances and am at the mercy of independent service repair contractors.
I purchased a Maytag Electric Range (Model: MER7662WS1) at Lowes in February 2011. After few months, we found many rusty areas on the stainless oven door and on the stainless drawer. On 9/8, I called Maytag at 1-800-688-9900 to complain that stainless steel is not supposed to rust. A representative took the initiative to schedule A&E Factory Service to come to my house for a warranty repair, and assigned me an order # 40629499. I did not request for this service call and naturally, I regard this as a warranty service or a service of quality check of a product. On 9/19, a technician came to check the rusty area and confirmed that the stainless steel have rusted and the rust will eat through the panel. The technician called Maytag, and got the answer that Maytag will not pay for his visit because its not under warranty. The technician then checked the warranty manual, but could find not any statement that neither rust is cosmetic nor rust is not covered. The technician asked me to pay $132 for his five-minute checking service. I was so upset and called Denice at A&E Factory Service at 1-800-905-9505 to bill Maytag directly. She ignored my request and said that I should take it to Maytag. After a couple of hours waiting, holding and transferring, I explained to two Maytag customer service representatives my problem, only to get a Sorry, its not covered, its cosmetic, reply. I insisted talking to a manager and finally got Melinda at Care Solution Team. She, too, refused to waive the charge for me and claimed herself as a supervisor and decision maker and theres no one above her who could resolve this issue.I emphasized that A&E service call was authorized by Maytag, I did not order the service. Who would have thought that a service authorized by manufacturer is not covered under warranty? Besides, this representative failed to inform me that rust would not be covered, she should have known better. Therefore, I believe that the person who initiated the service call to A&E should be held accountable. But Melinda never wanted to agree with this logic and kept saying, We dont force customer to have home service. You are liable for the bill. She refused to pay for the service and forced me to pay the bill from the mistake they made. She even refused to give out the persons ID # and name of the person who called A&E. She only documented my complaint--whats the point of their documentation? If this is the tactic that Maytag is using to categorize rust as cosmetic (if rust can damage material, then you should not call it cosmetic), and ban customers from claiming the rust damage so they can use poor quality of stainless steel on their appliances to save the cost, then, it is dishonest to advertise that this oven is stainless.A representative even said that Maytag should have emailed me with the confirmation of service call and noted that its a non-warranty service. Also, A&E should have informed me before arrival that the service is not covered. All these were not true. First, I did not receive such email from Maytag or Whirlpool. If Maytag would have warned me with non-covered policy such as this, they should have the courtesy to call me in case the email was unreliably routed to spam box. A&E only informed me that they are coming the next day, but no such thing as telling me that the service will not be covered. Even their technician did not know about the non-covered issue, and had to call Maytag today to find out.Had the person who scheduled the service told me that the rust on the stainless panels is not covered under warranty, will I still allow the service call and agree to pay $132 for a five-minute checkup and watch the technician leave without performing any repair? I asked Melinda to let me talk to her supervisor but she said that theres no one who can talk to me, and the only way to appeal is to write to the companys executives. The address is: Whirlpool Corporate Office553 Benson Rd Benton Harbor, Michigan 49022. I doubt that an appeal will help me at all. I will take this matter to small claim court, I wont let them force me to pay the bill when I am not at fault.
Purchased my 1st brand new washing machine almost 3 years ago, a Maytag Centennial Washer for a little more than $600.00. Now it needs over $400.00 worth of repairs to get it working. Theres a reason the Maytag repair guy has nothing to do. Its because their products cant be repaired and are disposable. 25 years ago we bought our first washing machine that was used. It lasted for 22 years before it died. Maytag cant make a product that can last for 3. Also got stuck with a $65.00 service fee for them to tell me its broke and not worth fixing. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of their products.
Just dont get clothes clean like the old agitators. Doesnt matter what brand you decide to get I guess. Had Samsung front loader before and was disappointed in that brand as well. Thought them both to be good buys... But miss my really washed clothes!
Same issue as everyone else. After about 15 months the control panel on my Maytag dishwasher model#MDBH979SAM1 has malfunctioned. First it would only let me choose the rinse option but now all the lights are turning on and the dishwasher will not stop washing but yet the dishes are still dirty. I called Maytag and they quoted me 249.00 to fix the issue. But if its a common problem with this make and model why do I have to pay to replace the panel. They should recall this model or replace the panel with an updated one that wont have the same issues! I cant imagine paying 249.99 every year to replace this panel that seems to malfunction no matter what you do!!! I paid around 550.00 at the home Depot for this dishwasher! It did not even last me two years!!! I want a lawsuit filed against this company and I want my money back or my dishwasher replaced with one that works and wont have the same issues!!!
Why are the clothes in my dryer getting stuck in Maytag Neptune? It seems there is a little opening around the rim of the barrel in the back of my dryer that drawstrings, zippers or similar small parts of the clothes can get stuck in. It twists the clothes around and is ruining clothes, also is making a thump-thump sound. Someone, please help!
I purchase my Maytag electric glass top stove 9 years ago. 2 years ago, one of the burners went out and had to be replaced. Now, in the past 2 days, my oven is taking FOREVER to preheat from 0 to 455 degrees. So far, its been 78 minutes waiting for it to go from 0 degrees to 425! Apparently the heating element is defective. As far as the self cleaning oven, it is absolutely worthless, and does NOT work! Needless to say that Im very disappointed, and looking at another repair expense!
On the first day, first time, the washer wrinkled clothes so bad I could not get them out. I talked to Home Depot people and they said I must lay clothes around tub like pictured in the book. I did that and they were still wrinkled. I called the repairman who said nothing was wrong with the washer. I talked to Home Depot; they did not have the answer. I called the repairman and he checked it out. He found nothing wrong. He did watch it washing and said he had never seen a washer tangle and twist clothes like this before, called Maytag. They said that I was loading clothes wrong, and nothing was wrong with the washer. They would not give me a number to call above them. This washer is bad. Maytag has known it for 4 years and done nothing about it. Ive been ripped off.
I purchased Maytag washer and dryer on 12/6/2011 and they required four repairs of the same problem. The bellow and rubber seal continually break and rip. Same issue all four times and Maytags response was to get a second opinion. Okay, same issue and same problem. Maytag does not warranty their machines for a full year and have yet to solve the problem with the machine.
My Maytag Series 300 Dishwasher would not start. I read the reviews and took the door off (easy if you have the right tool), removed the control panel box (one screw), and cleaned the ribbon with electronic cleaner as per someones suggestion. It started right up. This is a bad design. Would I buy another Maytag? - No way! We will see how long this lasts. There is no seal on the door to keep out humidity. Do we really need a new control panel? When this is done...I am done with Maytag!
I bought a Maytag Bravo without an agitator. Regretted from the 1st load. Some of my clothes do not even get wet and I bought the commercial grade. My 20 year washer that was on its last leg washes better than my brand new Maytag. Please do not waste your money, your clothes will not come out clean.
The refrigerator works well. No problems. Easy to move to clean behind it. Good value. I havent had any problems since I bought it. Keeps a steady temp; Its exactly the size I needed; has plenty of space. Its a plain fridge with a reasonable price!
We have a Maytag dishwasher that came with the house we purchased in 2012. Im not sure of the exact age but the former owner said it was a relatively new installation. The appliance works very well; cleans well. Just a couple of things of concern. First, it is really noisy. The fact that we can very clearly hear it running in the adjacent room does not speak well for it in this regard. The other things that has occurred is that rusting is evident on the trays of the dishwasher. One of the upright pieces has already broken off due to rust and two others are close to coming apart very soon. Nothing sharp is placed in those areas that are coming apart so there would be nothing remarkable to disturb the plastic coating on the wire racks. I can only conclude that the plastic coating was defective at the start; hence the rusting at the base of the upright pointing racks. That said, it does clean well but I dont foresee this unit lasting much longer overall due to the rack damage that is continuing to occur. I would expect the racks to at least last as long as the dishwasher but this does not seem very likely at the rate the racks are deteriorating.
I purchased Maytag dishwasher (model # MDBH979AWW3) in June of 2010. Trouble started on washer after 18 months. Touch pad buttons dont all seem to be working. Occasionally gets to run after slamming door multiple times, but dispenser doesnt function properly. After trying to diagnose myself with door switches, connectors, etc., I caved in and called service. Service quoted $470 parts and labor to fix the problems, including control touch panel, dispenser, and control board (seems common from what I read here). Wish I had seen this string of posts before I called Maytag/Whirlpool customer service to see if they would help before I did any repairs. The responses I got from the service rep were rigid and scripted. Only time she varied from the script was to explain that modern high-efficiency appliances dont tend to last as long as ones 20 years ago. 18 months? Really? I might buy that if it was a mechanical durability design issue. Supervisors responses were also scripted, pointing back to the 12-month warranty. She said she did a warranty search on my model and that there was no warranty concern for this problem (really?). If there was, she might be able to help me. I guess there is no warranty history because most failures are between 12-24 months and the consumer has to pay for replacement outside of warranty. No semblance of customer service or customer care, just repeating what is on their website. Response was: I am sorry you are dissatisfied with the product and my response, but there is nothing I am authorized do. Sent an email to Maytag customer service regarding the problem and customer service interaction. They called back saying they stand by the original customer reps response, but offered to have someone else come out to give a second opinion on the problem. From what I read here, that doesnt seem necessary. Wish Maytag/Whirlpool would at least acknowledge that there is a problem, even the auto industry seems to have figured out a way to equip the service industry with known recurring problem history (TSB) and offer token help to keep customer loyalty. Apparently another quality organization fallen victim to short-sighted methods of maintaining shareholder value.
Purchased new Maytag MF 2558 VEM5 for over $1000 and have had nothing but problems. Water constantly leaking on floor, ruining kitchen wall trim. Now ice maker doesnt work. Bought in 2011 and started leaking after 2012 on out of Warranty. Now in 2014 ice maker stopped working. Bought at Home Depot who refused to fix. The worse fridge I have ever had.
Called Maytag to set up service call at around 9am for my washer, was given a rate of $129.00. Thought it was High but it was my only off day and felt confident that it would be a reputable company. If Maytag Priority Service would refer A&E Factory Service to me for service they must be a reputable company. I was sadly disappointed after numerous calls to A&E Factory service, a 5 hour window was not met and they were not concerned other than they would document it. Then I find out that A&E Factory Service has a Rating of 1 1/2 Star rating out of 5 and thousands of complaints to BBB and Consumer Affairs, dropped by Lowes for horrible customer service but Maytag Priority Service recommends them to service their product, says Volume on how Maytag takes care of their Valued customer after the sale. Maytag has lost a customer for life. A product without customer service and trust is nothing but a piece of metal!!!! I will be picking another Brand that doesnt use A&E. Maytag you have lost my trust and you cant buy that back.
Ive had my Maytag refrigerator for 19 years and it still performs well. I keep it clean both inside and underneath. The lighting is one aspect I really appreciate as there are two bulbs in the interior so theres never a problem seeing all the contents. Also appreciated are the movable shelves on the door and the ability to raise or lower the main shelves in the body of the fridge.
Please Do NOT purchase the Maytag Aqua Lift Gas Range. It does not clean anything, you will pay more money for a cleaning oven that does not clean any grease or droppings if you cook. This is not an Oven for any one, or family that cooks large meals or has gatherings. I had the technicians at my house over 4 times and they confirmed that this oven is not a self cleaning oven. It doesnt get hot enough as your self cleaning ovens. And MAYTAG did not want to hear anything, basically not clean much, but advertised as a self cleaning oven. Having been a Maytag customer for years I will never buy a Maytag product again. And we need to support American made, but not when the consumer is misled.
Peeling of paint off the oven finish, inconsistent heating, fan goes on and cant shut off until the oven cools, have to leave door open in order to shut fan off. The paint peeling is really bad. It is right where the heat escapes from the oven, have to touch up paint every so often so it doesnt look so bad and the discoloration is covered besides the peeling.
The washer is making loud noises. I had a repairman out and he said the transmission was shot. This washer is only 7.5 years old and the set I had before lasted 19 years. It also was a Maytag. My mother, sisters and aunts have always stood by Maytags and I am disappointed that this washer being 7.5 years old is shot. The dryer to the set is working great!
The Maytag Bravo Washing Machine was sold as the top of the line. In reality it is very difficult to work with for three specific reasons. First, the spin speed is too high causing the clothes to be wound into tight balls causing pilling and the need to iron everything from t-shirts to workout pants. Second, the spin speed is so high that you can only put a few towels in the washer at a time or the machine goes off kilter several times a cycle. Finally, if you lower the spin speed the items take forever to dry. I used this for less than 30 days and tried to return it but Maytag would not take it back. The only cycle type I can use is the rapid wash unless I want to spend all day washing and drying one load. I hate this washer more than I can describe and will NEVER purchase another Maytag product. It absolutely ruins your clothes and Maytag takes no responsibility for making a very bad product.
Maytag Bravos 300 Electric Dryer - Purchased dryer 2011 and a computer part went out and Maytag wants $418.66 for a computer part. This dryer was used only 6 months a year. Poor attitude about repairing from Maytag and they would not do anything to make us happy with product. A dryer that goes out in 3 years is robbery. Maytag should repair and make customers happy but they just dont care. Anyone who buys a Maytag or Whirlpool product should have their heads examined. I tried to talk sense to Maytag representative but to no avail. I am now going to make sure all of southern Indiana knows of my problem with this product. Those who know me know I have the ability to contact thousands of southern Indiana and Louisville residents.
I, too, have had major problems with this Maytag refrigerator! We have experienced everything from a malfunctioning ice maker, flashing control panel, overloaded compressor, erratic freezer (freezes much of the fridge contents), and doors not staying closed/inadvertently popping open. We have owned this fridge since 2007 and have repaired the ice maker and the freezing problems on our own dime. When the clicking sound woke the entire house up at 5 am, I finally decided to post! I realize that appliances are not perfect, and that Maytag had the best of intentions when designing and producing this product, but what really infuriates me is that Maytag has known about this widespread inherent problem since late 2006! Why no recall? Why no notice? Why no assistance? When I called the customer service line this morning, the representative acted like shed never even heard of this fridge having problems - yeah, right. All you have to do is Google the model number or just Maytag fridge panel flashing and clicking problem to discover thousands of similar complaints. I do not fault Maytag for manufacturing a less than perfect appliance, but I do hold them accountable for adequately repairing/replacing such a rampant and unsafe (compressor overload) product! Maybe it is time for a class action. Something needs to be done to protect the consumer from a company that is so slow to correct a long-standing and potentially dangerous problem!
I would say you have plenty of options when choosing a color for your dishwasher. You can choose black or stainless. Try one today you wont be disappointed. I load plenty of dishes into the space. It has extra pockets for little things and it has plenty of hooks and hangers to use for bigger cycles. Kenmore Dishwasher runs great. Very efficient and cleans the tough stains better than any dishwasher Ive ever used. I would recommend this to anyone looking to buy a dishwasher. Of all the dishwashers I researched at Lowes and Home Depot and Sears and Ace and other local stores, the Maytag was the lowest price with all the features I wanted.
I bought this washer almost 5 yrs ago and oil has been leaking from it. Called company who sent a tech to my home and declared it a total loss. All he did was tilt it for maybe 1 minute to determine this. I am out a washer. Nothing from this horrible company. They quit making the washer but cant even compensate the owner with anything to purchase a replacement. Will keep passing the word.
Please read Michael of Davenports review. I read it and word for word this is my experience. This washer is the worst Ive ever had. If I could get back my old 20 year old machine, I would trade it in. Dont buy, youll hate it.
First off. Maytag customer service is horrible. I purchased a Maytag washer & used it 8 time. It now doesnt rinse the soap out of my clothing or even clean anything. The washer isnt broken because thousands of other people with the same exact washer have written negative reviews everywhere online. The washer needs to be recalled & never sold again. Maytag is making people SICK and they dont care. My whole family had skin irritation because we didnt realize our new washer wasnt rinsing.
I purchased this machine (MVWB765FW0) because I had a good experiences with Maytag in the past. There is a manufacture defect in this particular machine. If I were you, I would not buy it. I’ve lost two sets of bedsheets and my wife had a dress that she loved that got ripped up at the bottom between the agitator and the base of the machine. Maytag knows about the problem and does not have a solution.
This Maytag oven has lasted my mom for over twenty years. Now after her passing the oven is now serving me and my family. Have had it soon to be three years. Just now having to replace one of the eyes.
Ive had this washer and dryer set for only a couple of years and nothing but problems. The latest is that it sounds like its going into orbit on spin cycle. I cant believe the poor quality of these appliances. Ill never buy Maytag again.
I purchased my Maytag Bravos from Lowes in early 2014. A few weeks after the motherboard fried and Lowes replaced it with a new one. Within my 1 year warranty the new machine had another fried motherboard. Maytag replaced it for free. Now less than a year later the motherboard is fried again. Needless to say I just purchased another washing machine. Definitely not a Maytag. Now I just have to deal with a dysfunctional piece a junk for a few days until I get my new one. After reading all the complaints on here and other sites, Im very disappointed with Maytag. These machines are obviously lemons and any good company should recall them. Mine will be going straight to the junkyard. I have no interest in having a washer that breaks down every 10 months. Definitely the last thing I will ever purchase from Maytag.
I cannot even begin to describe my disappointment in these overpriced machines! Bought a 4-year extended warranty when I purchased and two weeks after warranty expired, my heating element went out on the dryer. This repair cost over 300 bucks. Six months later the washer was making some crazy noise and service guy could not find the cause...another $120 bucks. A few months later the same noise...this time a coin had slid under the bottom plate and caused damage to the machine...another service charge of over $200 bucks plus I purchased an extended one year warranty at $189 bucks. Thank goodness, because now it is throwing an LD code and will not drain. Oh and I forgot about the service call for the latch breaking on the dryer door...another $119 bucks. The repair guy felt sorry for me and didnt charge me for the part. Tangled clothes when washed and forever to dry. Next time I will buy an inexpensive set like I had before that lasted 16 years with no problems! This stuff is junk!
Bought a Maytag dishwasher 2011! Use it 2 weeks, digital board went down had it replaced! Now 2013, the board is down as well as the motor!! Can you imagine I use it once a day, at most 2 people in this house, and it completely breaks down! Thank goodness I have a Home Depot warranty. I would strongly advise against this product that I spent over $500 for 2 years ago!! How they could sell this dishwasher is a mystery.
Maytag bottom freezer / refrigerator: What a low-quality operation these guys are operating. We have a 5-year-old double door unit, which is not a cheap ticket item; and we thought that Maytag was from the days of old. The compressor failed along with ice makers and some high-use parts inside. I can understand the plastic lids and guides wearing out with heavy use, but not the compressor. I called Maytag and was directed to their proud Tennessee Service Location. It might as well be in China, where the real owners are located. She said, Oh well, we build quality units that are to last 12 years. However, they are man-made, and you cant count on that being a positive thing. What arrogance. I might get stuck with another brand from Asia. But it will never be a Maytag or any other in their family of products. The repairman is really busy these days.
I bought a new Maytag dishwasher 9 months ago from Costco - Maytag 24 in. Built-in Dishwasher with PowerBlast Cycle, White. This dishwasher needs a new motor - Please do not buy this dishwasher. It is garbage.
We have had the oven, a Maytag Gemini Double Oven model mgt8775xs02, for 3 weeks now and I am so upset. First off, I became violently sick from the oven when we first used it. I had a horrible headache and then nauseousness and then the worst stomach problems I have ever had. The toxic smells coming from the oven were too much for me. We had every window open. I looked online and found other people who reacted the same way to their new oven smell. But now we are on the 4th time using the oven. We did a self-clean and I thought that would help but no, it smells like someone is pouring gasoline into my home. I smelled it in pockets throughout my house. I have had the gas company out twice and a repairman. They all cannot figure out the problem. I looked online to see if other people were having a gas problem from this model and I am not finding it. It is horrible. I feel like I am being poisoned. I have not had a working oven in 2 and half years and I was so excited to get this oven and now my new oven is making me so sick. I am not sure what to do from here.
Maytag Top-loading washer MVWP475EWO - I just want to comment on how engineers have made our washing machines worse instead of better. I had to replace my Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine - and did try a new one of that brand, but had the dealer take it back. It had so little water when it ran and was a piece of junk. Anyway, replaced it with the Maytag and it too has the water saving feature (which I understand all of them do) but I have to put it on the bulky setting all the time to even get the water to at least cover the clothes. The clothes just barely, if at all, actually move! They sort of rotate a little at a very slow speed. Boy, maybe this was the time to try a front loader so the clothes at least moved a little in the machine! I am so disappointed in how all the machines are manufactured now. One dealer told me I would like the Speed Queen, but it would take five weeks to get one. Thought this Maytag might do the trick, but now Im stuck with it anyway. It does not spin the clothes out nearly so well as my old Cabrio did. The clothes are pretty wet! So, another fine engineering feature. I wish the engineers would be the ones that actually did some laundry so they would see how bad the machines are. My daughter has three young boys and theres no way this would clean the clothes for her. I told her she should be glad her machine is still working. The dealer was very nice about it when I returned the other one, but it seems all the machines arent really made to clean clothes anymore.
Horrible Refrigerator MSB27C2XAM00. I bought this refrigerator November 2013. Over the past 5 months I have made over 10 calls to Maytag customer service. Each phone call averages 30-45 minutes in length. In total I have and have had 6 service repair visits. Within 4 weeks of acquiring the unit, the letters on the ice/water dispenser wore off. They replaced the panel and within 4 weeks the letters wore off on the replacement panel. The subsequent calls made to customer service were regarding slow water dispensing and shrinking ice cubes. I was advised in order to maintain water speed and decent sized ice cube production I would have to replace the filter every time the water dispensing slows, which is on average every 4 to 6 weeks (each filter costs $40).When I asked why I would have to change the filter so frequently when the packaging instructions with the water filter states you can expect an average of 6 months use or 200 gallons, (mind you we are a family of 2 adults and one child under the age of 10 surely not consuming 200 gallons of water within 4 weeks), Maytag advised me to attain a whole house water filtration system. I was told that the water supply to my home must require extra filtration which is why the filters are not lasting. I asked if other NYC residents have made such complaints. Maytag advised they cannot share this information for confidentiality reasons. I told the rep that I did not want specific names/address of the complainants. I just wanted to know if there were any other similar complaints! If its the NYC water supply I would have to believe there would be similar complaints. Maytag would not advise. They will not budge in replacing the unit. After spending $1,400 on this refrigerator I am now expected to invest $500 annually on water filters in order for the refrigerator to work properly. I was also advised that if another service tech came to my home and the issue was found to be the same I would be responsible for payment of the service call. I did my research before purchasing this Maytag product. I ultimately selected Maytag for their reputation. I am so disappointed with this unit and with the company that I will never purchase another Maytag appliance and I will advise everyone I know to never purchase from this company again. Such a disappointment!
Recently I purchased a Maytag Bravo Washer and Dryer. These two items are the single worst appliances I have ever purchased. They are loud, ball the clothes into a knot and run forever. I plan to sell them on Craigslist and buy a Speed Queen.
I purchased my Maytag gas range (model number mGR7665WB) on Thanksgiving 2011! It worked fine until May 2012. Then the bake function just stopped working. If I select bake, the temperature fails to rise above 100F and a sickening gas smell fills the kitchen! PC Richards, where I purchased the product from, sent a repairman who took two weeks and two visits to fix the part! Everything was working fine until six months later during cooking for a full house on the day of my daughters birthday party. Same problem, bake function failed again along with gas smell! I was pregnant at the time and very worried about the gas smell! We had to leave the house a few days after that due to the hurricane and when I returned, everything worked great for a few weeks only to fail on Christmas Eve leaving me to cook the meat for our Christmas Day dinner in a neighbors house, highly embarrassing and inconvenient! Now Maytag and PC Richards are only able to repair at a high cost to me which I cant afford and feel I shouldnt be responsible for as this product has been consistently unreliable and possibly dangerous. I am especially concerned about the gas smell as I have a newborn and a 3-year old in our small apartment!
I have had my washer and dryer for about 5 years. After a couple of years, I noticed my washer would fill and stop. When I go to put clothes in the dryer, it’s still filled with water... very inconvenient! I have to open and close it and then it continues. The dial doesnt work properly! The delicate cycle hardly works... that started after about a year. It just freezes up and stops. I have to open and close it. It does not rinse right, leaves a film on dark clothes, and I have to rinse again; I do not over fill it either. Sometimes it does smell a little mildew. The dryer knob does not work properly. I set my setting and pull the knob out, and it doesnt come on. I have to do it several times or change the setting or put it on 30 minutes only... very frustrating! I never had these problems with my Kenmores! I wish I did not switch brands. These things should work properly. I realize washers and dryers dont last like they used to, but come on! They also cost so much more than they used to. I wont do this again. I will do more research as to what is a good product. Too bad!
I have been trying to solve the issue with my washer, that my parents bought me for my new home. Home Depot, where they were bought, came out twice, and all they say is there is nothing wrong with the washer. There are plenty of things wrong with the washer. It doesnt clean the clothes. I have to use the heavy wash cycle, to try and get the clothes clean. Maytag wont even deal with the situation. The fight has been going on for over 2 years (washer serial # is CY4744432 manufacturers number is MVWC6ESWWI).Not sure if I should just give up. Im really tired of fighting with Maytag and Home Depot. I hope you can help.
We purchased a Maytag Bravo Washer and Dryer in late 2007. We had a one-year warranty on the set. At just over 2 years, we started having problems with the washer. It started making a loud noise when spinning and started beeping all the time during the cycles. We contacted Maytag and they said the only thing they could do for us was to sell us an extended/repair warranty for $320.00. If the cost of fixing the machine was too much, they had the option to replace it with another machine equal to the value of the machine in todays market, or cash, or a gift card equal to that.We were angry about the cost of the warranty and we were unemployed at the time and couldnt afford that so we just had to let it go. The machine progressively got worse where only two of the cycles would work, but not without beeping several times where you had to fix the load, and the sound got so loud it sounded like you had a jet plane just overhead. Just the other day it completely quit working. We have been in contact with Maytag several times but their only answer is their repair warranty. Weve talked to numerous appliance repairman, who all knew exactly what was wrong because they have seen it so many times, and they told us that we have several things going wrong with the machine we would probably need a new drum, a new drain pump and a new control board. We were told that it would cost more to just buy the parts than it would be to buy a new machine. In the course of our phone calls to Maytag, they have continually told us that they are sorry but there is nothing they can do, in fact they only have record of two of our calls (how convenient!). Since experiencing the issues with the machine, we have researched it online and found that scores of consumers are dealing with the exact same problems we are having which shows that there are defects in the manufacturing of these machines. Maytag should be forced to fix these problems. They are well aware of them and they should have to back up their products. There should be a class action lawsuit out against them. We were told by an appliance repairman that Whirlpool (who bought out Maytag) has a washer called Cabrio that is the exact same model as the Bravo and that they do have a class action lawsuit out against this model. Consumers that purchased the Bravo should be included in that lawsuit. I am stuck with a broken down washer, mildewing clothes and dont know where to turn outside of paying out the money for the extended warranty with no guarantee of what we would get out of it, purchasing a used set with no guarantee, or putting out the expense for a new set. This set was an expense set and we went with Maytag because they used to have a good reputation, but we feel like we have been totally cheated. If the appliance companies were forced to offer a longer warranty on their products, they would have to manufacture them at a higher standard. For the cost of these new machines this is exactly what we as consumers should expect. Please help us to know which direction to go. Even with purchasing a new machine we are apprehensive!
I purchased the Neptune HE pair because they are front loading and can be set on pedestals to raise them to a comfortable working height, plus the brand and reputation are both excellent. I like that the chimes can be adjusted from low to high, or turned off. The front loading washers clean so much better and with a lot less damage to items than washers with center agitators. Looks are secondary, thats for sure. Functions like warm/warm cycles and being able to adjust to whatever load needs to be washed is really most important to me. Any appliances with a good, proven track record of reliability with few repairs is high on my list. Expensive appliances should be made to last and be of durable quality! No cheap plastic or weak-looking welds or components, thank you! Quiet operation and dependable cleaning and drying are top in my book, and this pair has exceeded even my picky expectations in total overall performance. They are 11 years old now and look & function like new! I had one minor repair on the washer at 5 years, and not a single problem since. With front loading washers, its important to keep the door open a little when not in use so that they dont get a musky smell. Ive gotten into the habit of using laundry boosters to help clothes, sheets, and towels smelling fresh longer, and putting a small amount in the washer drum has kept my whole laundry room smelling nice. Purchasing the pedestal drawers to set the washer and dryer on added extra storage to my laundry and its much easier for me to load/unload them at this comfortable height. Im totally spoiled by it now, so when I use someone elses laundry room (when I visit) I am reminded how nice my own setup is.
We (family of 2) purchased our Maytag Bravo XL Washing Machine Model#MVWB880BW in Nov. 2013 for over $700.00. Last week, Dec. 2019, the washer would not finish the rinse/spin cycle. The clothes were still wet. I researched troubleshooting in the Maytag booklet included with the machine and tried everything. It still showed an OL on the readout. It was not overloaded as I only had 3 towels, 3 washcloths, and 3 hand towels in the washer. I tried just the rinse/spin cycle alone to get the water out of the clothes, but they remained wet, and the OH still appeared on the machine. When I called the place where we bought it, they suggested unplugging it, waiting and plugging it back into the outlet to possibly reset the machine. That seemed to work for 1 very small washload. The next day, I tried washing again and the OH appeared with the clothes still being wet. We had a repair person come out. The service call/diagnostic of $116.98 plus repairs of $304.41 plus $95.00 to install of the new Motor Control Board. I feel that cost is excessive for only 6 years of service. Before we bought this machine in 2013, I had a Maytag which lasted over 20 years with NO problems. I always thought Maytag was the best washer, but this experience has proven to change my mind. We went out and bought another washer rather than replacing the board not knowing how long the new one would last. Needless to say, we did not buy another Maytag. I do not feel I can trust the Maytag products anymore. After this experience, I did more research on the Direct Drive used in this particular model washing machine and found that it had been problematic. I would have thought Maytag would have offered a recall to avoid these costs/problems and avoid dissatisfied customers. Along with the original purchase of the Maytag washer in 2013, we did buy the matching dryer and are hoping the dryer will last longer than the washer. We shall see.... This has been an unexpected and expensive lesson.
This is in reference to Maytag washer MVW7232HW0 that broke after 5 months. Maytag sent a technician out who claimed we needed to replace 3 parts. We waited almost a month for the parts to come in just to have the technician say that didnt fix the problem. We have been waiting a 1.5 months for a resolution with nothing in sight. Now we have to either way another TWO months for another part, buy a new washer and get refunded for the old one (but WE would be responsible for the almost $300 price difference it now is), or wait for a new washer to come in stock and Maytag will replace it. However according to them there are no washers in stock for the foreseeable future. This company has been a joke to deal with. I have everything recorded and will take this further.
I had a stackable Maytag dryer that was bought in 2016 but only used during the summer of 2017. Last May the dryer stopped heating. I contacted Maytag and they sent a repairman a week or so later. He identified the problem in the electronic control and ordered a replacement part. The part came and he installed it a week later. The part was faulty and he ordered a replacement for the replacement. It arrived a week later and also did not work. He said he had problems with replacement parts but contacted the technical service department at Maytag as he did the first time. The technical service person said there were problems associated with new software being not compatible with dryers in the last year and we needed a new control panel. I contacted Maytag again waiting the usual hour to get through on the phone. They agreed to replace the parts for free and ordered a control panel that arrived a week later. The technician installed both parts but they did not work. I contacted Maytag again and after waiting the required hour talked to a person who said she would contact the department who could arrange a replacement. They contacted me a few days later and said they would supply a replacement for $250. This was delivered a week or so later but they did not have a stacking kit and returned to the delivery company with the dryer. A week later they returned with the stacking kit but forgot the dryer. A week later they returned with both the dryer and stacking kit but the installer (always a different person) said he was too big to get in the space behind the dryer and that the venting supplied was wrong.I bought new venting from Home Depot and a new installer arrived a week later. He said the new venting was not necessary and in fact wrong and installed the dryer. It ran but foolishly I did not check to see if it heated and neither did the installers or if they did took off without letting me know that the dryer, like the one that was replaced did not heat. I discovered this a couple of days later when I tried to use it. I contacted Maytag and they setup an appointment for a new service technician to visit. I contacted Maytag again today hoping to get some explanation of what might happen next or some explanation. They had no idea but did inform me that they would not replace the new dryer but would start repairs again.
Approximately one week ago, the display on my fridge began to flash and ice door flap continuously opens and closes. Upon researching the issue, it seems to be a very common issue and a known defect. One in which was apparently a recall at one point. I was told by a Maytag representative that the recall was from 2007 to 2009 and has since expired. Expired? Its a known defect and should be the responsibility of Maytag to provide the parts and labor to repair the fridge. I asked for a supervisor and was told that one would contact me within 24 hours. Well, about a week later, I never received that call so I called Maytag again. This time I was told by the maytag representative and a supervisor that there was no recall and that it was a Quality issue. A play with words, in my opinion. Anyhow, regardless of the title the issue was given, I was told I would be responsible for the repairs and costs. I attempted to look up the recall on Maytags website and had seen the last two letters of the serial number to my fridge listed under the recall, but when I tried to investigate further, the site referred me to the 800 phone number I had been calling. Now, had this been an issue that was not a known defect and apparently a recall, I wouldnt be writing on this site right now. But, because it is a known defect that maytag is aware of, I think its Maytags responsibility to pay for the parts and labor for my fridge.
My dryer is 3 years old and I have had a technician work on it 3 times in 2 weeks, replacing parts as well as screws that were not installed. The dryer is not drying clothes and resets. Yes, I clean the filter.
We bought a Maytag French Door 21 cu. ft. refrigerator in 2008. 2010, 3 repairs later, the ice machine went out, we went back to ice trays. Now the compressor died. The old ad of bored Maytag repairmen cause they never need repairs is bogus.
On December 22, 2013 I purchased a Maytag front loading washer Model # MHWEE201YW00 from The Home Depot. On July 28 the bearing failed and greased my clothes and rendered the washer unusable. On August 1st I contacted the Maytag Customer Service Line; the wait for contact was approximately 20 minutes, not a very good answer time and unfortunately the best I would receive during this process. Despite the wait, I received good response and had a service call set up for Wednesday August 6th.On Wednesday August 6th, a service technician from Quaker City Appliances took a look at our washer and determined that the bearings had failed and that the entire drum assembly would need to be replaced. He stated that anytime the bearings fail this soon, it typically means that the bearings weren’t pressed properly or the drum wasn’t tightened enough and that he would order the parts as soon as he got back to the office. On Friday August 8th, a representative from Quaker City Appliances called and notified us that the part was no longer available and instructed my wife to call Whirlpool Customer Service and give them this number **, to coordinate a replacement washer. I called later that afternoon and spent over an hour waiting and was transferred between departments. The first representative was very cordial and professional; the second who I believe was from the Tech-line was anything but. In my career I have held responsibility for customer service and while there are many golden rules, one of the most important was never to tell the customer “I can’t”, well Cheyenne (I believe that was her name) couldn’t help me with anything and clearly told me so. She explained that my problem was referred to the Trade Partners and I needed to call back to Quaker City Appliances on Monday. On Monday August 11th, I called Quaker City Appliances, who promptly informed me that the matter was turned over to Whirlpool and I need to contact them as there was nothing else that could be done. Later that day I called back to customer service, again waiting between two representatives at least an hour. I was informed that my matter was with the Trade Partners and that I will need to wait one to two days for a phone call. A phone call that never came…..Yesterday August 14th, I contacted Whirlpool customer service, again waiting over twenty-five minutes for the first contact, and then was eventually handed over to the tech line and another wait. Eventually, I spoke to a very pleasant representative who gave me the Trade Partner number and transferred me, unfortunately I was disconnected. I called back and found out that the office closed at 5:00. Today I called the Trade Partner line (1-800-874-4698) at about 3:30 and after 40 minutes I have given up and decided to write this letter. All I want is a functioning washing machine.
My Maytag washer (model number MVWC400XW3) worked well for 6 months. Suddenly, it started making terrible loud noises when spinning. Repairmen have come out 6 times, and I got second opinions. It was turned over to another repair company. Transmission has been replaced as well as the motor. I have been without a washer for 3 months. Repairmen would come out, replace a part, and leave; and the washer is never fixed. I asked the repairmen to stay for an entire cycle, but they act insulted and left, saying its fixed. When I tried to wash, everything went crazy. I unplugged the washer and plugged it back in to reset it. I turned the dial to spin, and the lights said the washer was sensing. The lights never moved off that. The washer sounded like its trying to wash, but theres a strong grinding noise. When does the repairman decide he cant fix it? My husband is insisting we go buy another washer. The washer was bought in September 2011, so its still in warranty. In addition, we bought a five-year warranty. The repairmen stay 15 minutes, plug in a new part, and leave. They dont come back for two weeks. Will we ever get this washer fixed or get a new one. How do we put pressure on Maytag to fix it or give us a new one?
Dryer doesn’t wash all the clothes and the dryer doesn’t dry anything correctly. All, regardless of materials or size of load, comes out damp. Repairman’s excuse was that it’s a learning curve(?) and our dryer vent was the cause (which it wasn’t as we had it checked out and there was nothing in it) and that was it. Very disappointed in the washer and dryer and now the company where we bought them as it seems that we’re stuck with over $2K worth of equipment that doesn’t wash or dry well. We’re awaiting to speak with manager for a replacement of anything not Maytag. Not holding our breath and definitely not a happy customer.
First we design the cheapest, flimsiest drawer possible on the bottom of the stove. Then we mount it on cheap plastic guides on a flimsy metal track. What a joke! Listen, drawers have been around over 700 years. If you cant do better than that, you need to look for another line of work.
Our Maytag Bravos Quiet Series 300 is anything but quiet. Within two years of purchasing it, we now hear an F18 jet fighter taking off from our laundry room. Neighbors near and far come running to avoid getting injured when the spin cycle kicks into after burner. Seriously though, this looked to be a nice machine and operated flawlessly until a month ago when the spin cycle started sounding like a jet fighter taking off. I am handy and often fix appliances and things around the house. From reading reviews here on Consumer Affairs and other places, I am finding that the noise problems are more common than not. Investing $400+ into a replacement tub/bearing set would further support Whirlpool/Maytag and the sucking sound they make to get at my wallet. From what I have read, I am likely to have more problems after fixing this one (it will likely break again). I am going to quit while I am ahead and purchase a new washer. Whirlpool/Maytag will never see my business again. Its ludicrous to have an expensive appliance like a washer only last two years. BTW, I just spent $200 to replace the control panel on my 4-year old Maytag dishwasher. A cheap and horrible design. The part probably cost $10 to make. BOHICA. (bend over, here it comes again). FYI: Whirlpool owns and sells its products under several other appliance names. Names that include, Kenmore (yes, Sears), Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Gladiator GarageWorks, Inglis, Estate, Brastemp, Bauknecht and Consul (Wikipedia source). Like a Lotto Scratcher, peel the Whirlpool or Maytag name sticker off and underneath you will find the real name... CRAP! Its sad to think that you have to purchase products made in Korea to get quality. Very sad.
The Maytag Bravo is a big waste of money. Get a less expensive machine. You will have no problems and save money. This is my experience: SETTINGSYou cannot control the settings completely. Every setting is preset. For example, if you choose the Bulky setting, you cannot choose the water save spray rinse. Those two cannot be selected together. Certain settings can only be selected with certain temperatures. This will however be the least of your problems. WASHINGIt does not get clothes clean. I have had instances of items coming out with still stuff stuck to them, not just stains, but actual solid material stuck to it. My cat threw up in his bed and when I got it out, it still had small pieces of vomit stuck to it. I have always only used the Bulky setting which fills up the whole drum, so there is sufficient water to wash. I cannot imagine what it would be like if I used the Normal setting. Many times I had to wash thing twice. If you use the normal setting, you will get hardly any water. It will be a moist bundle of clothes moving like a big lump. You need water and some degree of friction to eliminate the dirt. SPINNINGIt is constantly stopping, beeping and showing me the UL sign (uneven load). You have to unravel the items and reposition them Around the drum. If you are an old lady like me, this is a real chore because the items are now soaking wet and very heavy. Also, because there is no agitator, the items come out in knots (tied to one another) and you have to separate them. DURABILITYThe lid is loose. It looks like it may be missing a screw on one side. It still locks, but it moves sideways when you close it and open it. BOTTOM LINEThe whole thing is a disaster. Get an old fashion type. It will work better and you can save your money. I honestly think there should be a class action suit against Maytag.
I bought a refrigerator from Home Depot in July 2013. In late November 2014, I noticed water on the floor in front of the fridge. I called the Maytag customer service and reported the problem.. The customer service rep explained to me that Maytag discovered a design flaw in the part that allows the water to drain when going through the defrost cycle. I also called Home Depot. Their response was it was my problem because the fridge was out of warranty and I did not buy an extended warranty plan. After two more calls to Maytag, they scheduled a service appointment. The service repairman told me the same thing about the design flaw. I have the old part and the package the new part was in. The two parts are completely different. I requested that Maytag or Home Depot replace the fridge or give me credit for the amount I spent. Maytag is now saying there was not a design flaw and because of that, Home Depot refuses to replace the appliance. I will never buy another Maytag product or shop at Home Depot. The extended warranty is a way to place the responsibility directly on the consumer and eliminating the responsibility of the manufacturer and the store.
We purchased a Maytag double oven in November 18, 2008. I was baking and the top oven wasnt working. We called Maytag service number on the book we received when we purchased the oven. It took 25 minutes for someone to answer our call. The person did not know what our problem was. We thought it could be the ignitor. He transferred us to a parts person. That person didnt know the answer and hung up on my husband. How rude of him. We will never purchase another Maytag product. We will let our family and friends also know. You need to inform your personnel to know their products.
I have a Maytag Centennial washer & dryer put into service in August 2011. The washer has recently gotten quite noisy, so I had a repairman out to look at it. He found that the bearings are going out & estimated repair costs at $360. He actually did not recommend repair, as the repair costs approach half the price of a new washer. I am very angry about this, as this is quite a new washer & was not a cheap model. There are only 2 of us in the house, so I only wash an average of half a dozen loads a week. I never jam the tub full, basically baby the washer so it will last. Much good that has done! Im old enough to remember when Maytag was the best in laundry appliances, expected to last for many years. I bought the Maytag because my last (top-of-the-line) Whirlpool set required a number of repairs, not realizing that Whirlpool had purchased Maytag. I will be using this washer until the bearing seize & then I will be buying a non-Whirlpool product Im afraid that will mean a foreign brand. I really prefer to buy American, but apparently, thanks to Whirlpool, that is no longer possible!
We bought our Legacy Washer and Dryer from Home Depot in December, 2005. Luckily we also bought the one year warranty, because in January 2006, our washer quit running. We called Home Depot, we got the runaround and I think Maytag sent someone out. When he tipped the washing machine over, a belt was off. He said it happens. The next year, something else went wrong with the washing machine (not under warranty anymore) and I paid $129 for that visit. Three weeks ago, the spin dry quit doing a good job on the extended spin cycle. Tonight, I put a load of clothes in and though the washer sounded like it was agitating the clothes, when I lifted the top I saw it was just noise, no agitating. I cannot afford the service call, let alone the whole repair or a new washer.
Love my washing machine. It is so big I need a step stool to reach down to the bottom. It cleans my wash well and I have dirty clothes. I hang my clothes on the line outdoors. My clothes have never looked and smell so good.
Purchased a Maytag OTR microwave in May of 2017. Started having issues with the Open/Close Door malfunction by September. Repair came out and essentially told us to keep opening and closing until it worked. It is January 2018 and the issue has gotten worse. My question is, since Maytag is keenly aware of the problem and has for years, based on other reviewers on here, why hasnt a class action lawsuit been filed? These appliances are expensive and it sounds like many of us have been taken to the cleaners!
JADE model RJRS4270. Had this model for 10 years with more than 10 service calls. Always breaking down and Whirlpool will not honor the warranty. Paid for an extended warranty service to Maytag/Whirlpool offered by the manufacturer. When unit broke Whirlpools warranty service provider Assurance said Whirlpool no longer provides the parts needed, sorry can’t honor the extended warranty you had paid for, no parts, and no refund. The evaporator drip tray had been replaced three times. Asked to have the unit replaced. Whirlpool was absolutely disrespectful and only offered me to the option to buy another discounted $8K unit for a with ~ $2K discount. So far approx. $6K unit + approx. $1K extended warranty (not honored) + approx. $1K parts and service out of my pocket (Whirlpool continued to tell me it was not warranted). Although the operator’s manual said it was covered. While under warranty Whirlpool doesnt have replacement parts to service it. Multiple service tech are telling me there are many known issues with this unit. Found out there’s class action law for the same issues Im experiencing. Whirlpool only offered a new unit at approx. $6K. So total for me to date if I choose to take the discounted unit would be $12K. Dont buy this unless you have a good lawyer. Hardly seems reasonable. Never had a better washing machine, highly recommend this product: MVWC425BW. Saved plenty on water usage, no rust and no service issues after 6 months.
Purchased a Maytag MSD2553WEW00 refrigerator on 2/27/2011 from Home Depot. Began using it in July 2012 upon completion of home construction. In February 2014, after less than two years of service, the refrigerator was running but no longer cooling. After the expense of several part replacements and a service call, it was determined that the compressor had failed. Unlike most manufacturers, Maytag did not warrant the compressor and closed system beyond 12 months. The refrigerator looks like new but the cost of repair is prohibitive relative to purchasing another new refrigerator. Maytag was contacted but was not helpful.
My original GE dishwasher that came with our house finally crapped out after about 8 years of use in 2007. Bought a Maytag from Home Depot for around $400. Dont remember the model number. It worked okay but then in the middle of 2010 we got a letter in the mail saying our machine was being recalled because the heating element might catch fire (!!!). The recall gave us the option of getting it fixed or getting a $150 rebate. We chose the rebate option so we trashed this dishwasher and went back to Home Depot to buy another one.We found a very nice Maytag with the stainless steel tub and the racks with the lifetime warranty against corrosion (which was good because our previous Maytag had started to leave rust on our dishes because the plastic on the tips of the rack tines was starting to come off), model #MDBA979AWB1, serial #FY2501885. The one we found was a no-box display model but it had all the accessories with it and still had the factory warranty. We got it for just over $300 and with our rebate applied we were out the door for under $200 including tax. I installed it myself and didnt have any issues for quite some time. My wife and I were both very happy with how clean the dishes got! Now, last night the dishwasher wouldnt start. I checked it out this morning, made sure it had power and was able to get some lights on the control panel to light up but still couldnt get it to start. Looks like Ive been victimized by the control board as most of these complaints have said. I guess I should consider us lucky since ours seems to have lasted longer than the average 18 months to 2 years. Will be contacting Maytag and Home Depot to see what they can do but after reading all these negative reviews Im not hopeful.
I have always used Maytag products at home and work. I have never had a problem like this one. The front load washers have a manufacture default with the boot that allows mold to grow even when it is wiped out as instructed. I have contacted other people and they have the same problem. I will not or ever buy a front load Maytag again and could never recommend this product to anyone. I feel that the Maytag company should replace the boot with a different design; at no cost to the consumer! This machine was only a year old. I have no problem with the company I bought it from. They replaced the boot with a bill of $358.65.
