Do not buy one. Maytag is unresponsive to repairs or parts that are needed. They are not even manufacturing the part that breaks. If you are lucky, you will find out there is someone who will fix the defective computer board... But Maytag will not tell you. We were without fridge for 4 months... They did not care.

I have used several brands of refrigerators and Maytag stood out for me. Everything works as good as new. However, my experience with ice machines, has been the first thing to quit.

I purchased a Maytag side-by-side refrigerator in May 2010 to replace a 20-month-old Whirlpool fridge with a dead compressor. The now 14-month-old Maytag has a dead compressor. I have been told by the repairmen that I have come to know that the compressors used in these units are of poor quality and do not last. That must work out well for the appliance industry if consumers must replace a $1,000 + unit every year or two.To Maytags credit, I spoke to customer service and they agreed to cover the parts and labor for the repair even though it is two months past warranty. Maybe I can get another year out of this reliable appliance. I am told that all of the major brand appliances use the same compressor.

We had purchased a Maytag refrigerator from a local appliance store in May 2012. The fridge was delivered in June and come August 5, 2013, it does not work. First, the temperature of the refrigerator declined drastically causing us to lose over $500 worth of food. Items that were even unopened had to be thrown down the drain. The first call was made to Maytag customer service. They decided to send a technician. Great. The technician came and informed us that it was the refrigerant. WRONG. The second technician comes and states that the compressor is shot and that is why it is not staying cold. Time to order the compressor that is on back order. Shocking. Another week goes by without a fridge. Cut to the third technician who comes and installs the new compressor. Fridge is cool and at about 32 degrees for probably 4 hours. The food goes back in the fridge and the temperature climbs to 70 within minutes. Strike two. Contact Customer Service and demand answers on what can be done. Speak with the first representative named Melinda. If you get her good luck. She states she doesnt care and hangs up. Call back to speak with another representative who is very sweet and compassionate and tries her best to help. Unfortunately, she was unable to do so. Asked to speak with a supervisor and had the displeasure of speaking with Scott. For all the trouble that we have been going through, time wasted, food thrown away, Scott can offer $100. Yeah, okay, nice try. The more we speak with Scott, he ups the ante to $150 and the final offer of $200. I advised Scott that there is someone higher than him that needs to be involved after he told me that he was the highest I could go. Wrong again. Time goes by and nothing happens. We receive a call from Yvette ** that was missed and call her back in the corporate executive office. We have contacted her and left her 4 voice mails and the response has been nothing. Actually, calling her you get her message that she is not available. This is over the span of a week. Nothing. ANOTHER technician is sent to look at the fridge and what was supposed to be a brand new compressor that was installed and states that the fridge is condemned. Well isnt that lovely?! Of course because the parts are made in Brazil and Maytag is charged $15 for them and they charge the consumer $200. There is no reason why they should work. We got in touch with the appliance store who told us that we need to speak with Maytag to ask for our money back because we are NOT taking the same fridge as a replacement. Now, we are plagued with the appliance store not taking our calls, the corporate executives not taking our calls, and a $1300 stainless steel french door paperweight. With a call in to our attorney and the phone poised to be dialing our local news stations, I am not sure of what the next move for Maytag will be. Im sitting here after 21 days of not having a refrigerator hoping that a call and resolution comes soon. My family will NEVER EVER purchase a Maytag appliance again. I wouldnt even purchase Maytag brand toilet paper because Im sure that it would need to have one function and even that function as easy as it is would not work. People, please save yourself the headache and the money and the time of dealing with Maytag, Whirlpool, and Amana. Their customer service does not care about you, their products are crap, and they will swindle you and leave you high and dry. I hope to have some good news about this issue but I can guarantee that nothing good is going to come of this, well, at least for Maytag. Get on your social media and let people know how TERRIBLE this company is. STOP BUYING THEIR PRODUCTS. Sorry Maytag, the buck stops here.

Purchased a Maytag four door refrigerator and it leaks water all over the floor. Every few days I remove ice from the bottom of the freezer.

The Maytag Refrigerator Model #MFF2558VEW2 I purchased from Sears is a lemon. Ive had problems with the freezer getting a sheet of ice, under the storage basket. The ice starts melting, and pours out on the floor. I have to remove everything from the freezer basket, remove the sheet of ice, and mop the floor. Ive had problems with a great deal of noise coming from the unit as well. The unit has now stopped working completely. I called Maytag at 1-800-253-1301, and spoke with customer service. I was informed of a faulty part, in the freezer. I received the part in the mail, and a phone number of their contracted repair company. The repair man charged me $166.00 to install the part, and informed me the digital control board needed to be replaced as well, for an additional $170.00. I called Maytag again...they said nothing could be done about it. Ive had the refrigerator for 3 1/2 years, and had all these problems for over a year. Im not going to invest over $300.00 to repair a faulty product. Maytag should stand behind their products, and at least furnish the parts, or replace the unit, with something that actually works.

My refrigerator stopped working less than two weeks after purchase. The ice maker failed to produce ice. I feel they sold me a lemon. Yes, I do!

We purchased a Maytag bottom-freezer refrigerator MBL2258XES1 from Home Depot on 12/30/2011. Other than being a bit noisy, it functioned without problem for a little over two years after which we noticed water pooling on the floor, just below the left-front corner of the bottom-freezer door. It was shortly thereafter we noticed the large sheet of ice that covered the entire floor of the freezer. Over the past several months I pull out the large towel, my spatula, my meat tenderizer and break up and lift out the ice onto the towel around every two weeks. Thanks Whirlpool/Maytag! At least that Maytag repairman isnt lonely anymore.UPDATED ON 03/18/2015: I called Maytag Customer Service, (800) 344-1274 to discuss remedies for my Maytag/Whirlpool bottom-freezer refrigerator which has a perpetual layer of ice on the floor of the freezer which leaks onto my floor. I was offered a product called Repair Plus One which includes parts and service for this repair and they throw in a 1-year warranty. The cost: $359.95. The representative informed me I only had 24 hours to make up my mind as the offer was time limited. I asked if there were any other remedies available to me and she said none other than a service call.

I bought a Maytag Refrigerator (Model No. MFT2672AEM10; Serial No. K31503192) on 05/13/2013 at LOWES. On 07/27/2013 my son got hospitalized due to some kind of infection. He had fever and diarrhea that didnt go away. We didnt know what caused it. When my wife was cleaning the refrigerator, she noticed that the ice bin container had a rusty screw and metal plate. Why is the ice bin screw/metal plate rusting? We informed Maytag about this issue and they replaced the ice bin. Now, the replacement ice bin is rusty again. I sent an e-mail to the Maytag Customer Service Manager on 04/20/2015 and was told that its no longer covered by the warranty. I informed the manager that this is a defective/flawed design/rusting part from the beginning and Maytag should have REDESIGNED it when I informed them first hand and not just replaced it with the same defective/flawed/rusting part. I told the manager that this is a safety concern and Maytag needs to do something about it. The Customer Service Manager I talked to didnt want to do anything about it.

I purchased my Maytag 4 door refrigerator with the freezer at the bottom (model #MFX2570AEM) in December of 2012. A couple months ago it started leaking small amounts of water. I now notice that there is such a build-up of ice under the freezer drawer that it wont even close properly. I, like all the other consumers that have complained am fuming mad. I purchased the Maytag brand because of its great reputation for quality products. However, this is totally unacceptable that I should be having issues with this refrigerator less than 3 years later. I purchased my Maytag side by side Model No. MSB27C2XAM00 in August of 2013. Within a 2 Weeks the lettering was gone on the control panel for the ice and water dispenser. I contacted Maytag and they replaced it, but the next one did the same thing, and the next one! They replaced it three times and they have all done the same thing. Now they are refusing to do anything more because they say I must be using cleaner or something on the panel because I am the only one having an issue with this! I assure you I have not used any cleaner and there are only three people in my household so it doesnt even experience excessive usage! I know this problem isnt as extreme as some, but when you pay this much money for an appliance you would like to think it should last longer than this!

Every day you hear a hissing noise and water leaks in from the vents and freezes. This builds up and water leaks on the floor. You have to chip the ice out or end up slipping and falling. This happened to me - Maytag was no help. Time for a lawsuit.

I have the same problem noted by the other posts. Water leaking on hardwood floor from the bottom of the freezer. Refrig is out of warranty. Also, the deli drawer is also broken. This is a $2000 refrigerator and the quality is terrible. Please contact me for class action suit inclusion.

The ice maker in my Maytag French door refrigerator quit working 11 months after purchase. It was replaced under warranty, but again quit working 12 months later. That one was replaced at my cost, and lasted another year. It was again replaced at my expense and that lasted two years. I am now back to the dark ages of filling ice cube trays. I have been reading reviews, and find I am not the only one who has had problems. My letter to customer service was responded with a sorry about your luck letter. I would never purchase another Maytag appliance.

We had our kitchen redone by Home Depot in Sept. 2006. It was gutted and all was replaced: walls, heat windows, doors, lights, appliances. The Maytag refrigerator stopped working 7 years later. I feel an expensive appliance should last longer than that.

Maytag fridge is a overpriced, ticking repair bomb. The fridge had issues with the compressor, control board (motherboard) and relay switch within a 12-month period. Customer service is weak in troubleshooting techniques and try to send the file over to a repairman. The repairman will show up at $80/hr + other fees and parts costing you approx $500, and still uncertainty that this fridge can breakdown at any time. Final advice: DONT BUY.

I wish I had never bought a Maytag refrigerator! Nothing but problems. The ice maker does not work, water leaked 3 times onto our wood floor. Finally, I disconnected the control panel so I have an ice/water dispenser that is useless just like the refrigerator. I dont think the Maytag man is sitting around from lack of work, maybe laziness. Dont buy a Maytag.

This unit is only 4 months old. It freezes everything, vegetables, eggs, etc. It took more than 3 weeks for the technician to show up at my door!! Performed a service modification according to the manufacturer specs. This did not work!! Call again to have a it fix. He show up almost 2 weeks later. This time he replaced a part, worked fine for almost 2 weeks. Now I am having the same problem. I had it with this Maytag piece of junk!! I will never buy anything from Maytag again!! My refrigerator temperature control panel started flashing lights and the ice maker flap started opening and closing over and over. I checked online and there are numerous model #s doing the same thing, most all contacted Maytag, some were fixed for no charge. Some were not even though they admitted there was a defect in the electronic control panel. I was one of the ones they refused to fix because they said it was an older model but they fixed a 2006 model, a defective part is a defective part no matter the age especially if they know and admit there is a problem with the control panel.I cant understand why they wont take care of their problem, so now I have to spend over $300.00 to fix a problem that they made in manufacturing, that is not an outrageous amount, thank goodness, but I just dont understand why they wont stand behind their product when they can fix out for probably half that cost to take care of their problem. I didnt make the refrigerator, they did.

Have had the top freezer Maytag refrigerator for several years now, and it has performed great. Exterior is easy to keep clean, and the interior shelves come out easy for washing. Three drawers for fruits, vegetables and meat/cheeses work out great, and keep those products at the correct temperatures. Settings for both freezer and refrigerator are easy to see and change, if needed. Would buy another Maytag unit. Easy slide out for cleaning coils behind the unit.

My Maytag refrigerator (bottom freezer) is about four years old now. Since the first year, it has been freezing up. The refrigerator gets warm and the freezer stays cold. Two repairmen have looked at it, replaced the electric panel and the thermostat - neither repair fixed the problem. If you completely defrost it, it will start working again. For about three years, it would work for a few months, but now it will only run for about two weeks before freezing up again. I called Maytag when this first started happening and again recently. They say they have never heard of anyone having this problem and they are sorry. The woman said she would put my complaint in my file. I certainly would recommend that people avoid Maytag refrigerators.

About 6 years ago we purchased a new french door style refrigerator. It lasted one year and one month then needed over $700 in repairs. First you need to know I am into electronics, DeVry graduate with 30+ years experience in repairing electronic devices. The Maytag basically frosted over in the freezer and was warm in the upper part of the fridge. I called a friend who had experience fixing fridges and lo and behold we found something really unusual.The way this machine operates is by blowing the cold air from the freezer up into the fridge. There is a fan located in the back of the freezer wall that does this. We found the fan, which was mounted in a grey box, spinning at about 2 revolutions a minute. My friend took me to the wholesale parts distributor he uses and we gave them the brand (Maytag) model (MFD2561HES) and they gave us a fan... just a fan with two wires. No grey box with fan inside... At this point I got curious, I mean WTF?!?The grey box was made not to be opened and I had to get clever so as to not damage whatever was inside it. After getting it open I discovered the fan inside was wired to a circuit board which upon inspection was a timing circuit. This is why the fan still turned only too slow to function. The new fan was installed and my only problem with the fridge now is the ice maker, which I disconnected.Conclusion: Maytag actually designed this fridge to break down and require hundreds of dollars of repairs AFTER the warranty expired by installing a timing circuit that disables the fan that drives the cool air to the upper part of the fridge to keep your food cold and your freezer frost free. Replace the grey box with a normal fan and youll get years of good use out of your French Door Maytag! As long as you clean the seals regularly and dont mind buying ice to fill the tray with... The repair cost me $39 and a six pack of beer for my friend.

I purchased a Maytag French Door Refrigerator in July 2011 from Lowes online and had it delivered on August 16, 2011. In September 2011, I could not get the ice maker to work. So I called Lowes and they called in a repairman. He came and replaced a part to fix the problem. I dont have any complaint with his work but here it is, October, and the ice maker makes maybe four ice cubes at a time on a good day.I am really disappointed with this product and according to their commercials, I would like to know which of these techs are setting around doing nothing, maybe he could come and fix my fridge once and for all. I would sure find it difficult to recommend any Maytag appliance as a result of this mess. I could call a repairman myself, but I was under the impression thats what a warranty was for. According to Lowes we are required to call them and they will schedule a repairman or the warranty isnt any good. I replaced a GE French Door with this Maytag, I sure am sorry I chose this Maytag.I know an ice maker problem is minor compared to some of the complaints on this appliance, but when you pay good money for a product you have every right to expect everything about it to work. I purchased a Maytag 4-door model, a little over three years ago. A little over a year ago, I noticed small puddles of water around the bottom of my refrigerator on the floor. I blamed the dog for having accidents and shrugged it off. Well, after months of putting up with this I came to the realization that it wasnt my dog, so I started looking for leaks on the seal, etc. Thats when I realized that the entire floor of the freezer was one solid block of ice! So, I looked online for people that might be having the same problem. Sure enough, there are A LOT of us!!! Now to add insult to injury, I have to have a MAYTAG certified repairman come and look at what needs to be done! He only charges $85.00 just to come to my house!!!! Thanks MAYTAG, I spend $2500.00 for a refrigerator thats obviously defective, and still have to pay more to have it repaired!!!

I had the same problem with my refrigerator that others had that the water would freeze in the bottom of the freezer then leak on the floor. Now I have to have my floor replaced because leaking. I also have to have some walls replaced because of mold. When I called Maytag they said that they would send the part but we would have to install & that they knew this part was a problem. Luckily I had the extra year warranty. How can a company get away with this? If they know that a part is failing why didnt they notify anybody? Now the damage is done & hopefully my Homeowners insurance is going to pay for the damage. I paid $1,100 for it, 1 1/2 years. Thank goodness I bought the extended warranty. My advice is dont buy any Maytag products ever!!

I have a Maytag side by side. In the first year, the ice maker failed and I had to replace it (in warranty/no charge). In the fifth year, the compressor failed (no warranty) and it hasnt been replaced. Since then, I have been looking at reviews and warranties of new refrigerators. The warranties (unless you want to pay $3,000+) are all one year limited. The reviews are scathing and it doesnt matter what brand. My question is, why dont you/we all get together and file a class action suit and demand millions in damages? Complaining wont get you anywhere with these people; however, hitting them in the pocket book will make them pay attention, especially if the penalty is severe enough.

They are coming for the 7th time to fix the ice maker. Three full replacements. The bottom of the freezer had a buildup of ice, another call to repair. I know where the Maytag repairman is, hes at my house.

We bought Maytag refrigerator MTB2195 AEW in 2006 for a hefty sum. The store where it was purchased was closed. The place where it was serviced was closed. We have had seals replaced, fixed, etc. twice. The freezer is full of ice balls hanging. The refrigerator doesnt keep as cold as it should and stays steamed on glass. I had a repairman again today and was told that he cant fix it. The frame will not stay tight. Theres a 3/8 in. drop from left side to right. It cant seal properly. You have always been a great product. Whats happening here? What can you do for me; Im at wits end. I have an older refrigerator in the basement thats 26 years old and is still going strong. I need something done quickly as I dont want to wrangle with this ice any longer and shouldnt have to. Please give me your attention on this as soon as possible. Kathy

We bought a Maytag refrigerator two years ago with the front french doors and bottom pull out drawer. We chose Maytag because we thought it was a name we could trust, a good quality merchandise. However, in the last two months, we started having problems when the fridge wouldnt stay cold, the freezer worked fine. We removed everything from the freezer and my husband found the freezer needed defrosting as the back of the unit was a solid sheet of ice. It took hours to defrost and we thought that we had the problem taken care of.. and that we wouldnt have to worry about this happening again. However, we have now had to do this three times in the last two months!! I love the style of this fridge..but am getting SO ANNOYED with having to rip everything out of the freezer and spending HOURS to defrost it! I have NEVER had this problem with any other fridge!! Im ready to replace it, but weve only had it for two years, and I shouldnt have to be spending a fortune on ANOTHER fridge after TWO years!!

I purchased a new Maytag refrigerator on September 21, 2007. The refrigerator compressor went out on July 19, 2011, three years and ten months. The repairman said that the compressor developed a pin hole leak and all the freon leaked out. The repair cost appear to be around $300 when completed, hopefully. What a crappy refrigerator. It seems that this is a regular problem with all types of Maytag appliances. Maytag is no longer a premium appliance. Stay clear from purchasing one!

Just got off the phone with Whirlpool Customer Care after getting the run around between parts and customer service for most of the morning. My issue is with the shelving on my MSF25D2EAS01 Maytag side-by-side refrigerator. The plastic surrounding the glass shelving is disintegrating and they are not admitting to a defective design only that the original part has been obsoleted and a new one is available for purchase (an over $300 expense to replace three shelves) on a unit that is just over 2 years old. I am willing to bet the old part has been replaced with a different design after they realized a substantial number of customer complaints. As an engineer, it is obvious to me that these shelves are poorly designed for their intended purpose, furthermore my work allows me to recommend appliance brands for large projects so I see no reason to recommend Whirlpool or any of its subsidiary brands (Kitchen Aid, Maytag, Amana, Jenn-Air) to any of our clients. Whirlpool quality and customer service is substandard and no better than any imported brand of appliances.

We have had the same problem as everyone else. We have the freezer on the bottom model. It started when the fridge was less than a year old, with water on the floor and ice buildup on the bottom of the freezer. Since then we have needed to have same repairman come at least 4 times because the top part suddenly gets very warm, food spoils, and water accumulates under the produce drawers. Our repairman has told us that newer models have improved design, but that doesnt help us. This fridge is now about 3 years old, bought it at Home Depot. This is unacceptable.

3 years ago, we purchased all new Maytag appliances for our home. Within one year, we had issues with the top load refrigerator getting warm and the bottom load freezer getting extremely cold. After calling Maytag and getting horrible customer service (long wait on the phone, no supportive/suggestive advice, rude representative), we were given a phone number for a local Maytag repair man who charged $300 just to walk into the house.He was literally in and then out of our house within 10 minutes. His advice was to unplug and defrost the refrigerator for 24 hours. Thankfully, his suggestion worked, but should have been given to us as a troubleshooter by the representative on the phone with Maytag.We have had to unplug and defrost the refrigerator about every 3 weeks since. It has become very annoying and stressful. There is obviously a defect in the refrigerator that should be replaced by Maytag! I will never buy a Maytag product again.

Please let me know if there is a class action suit. My lower freezer froze within a year, now 2 years later same problem. Im all in, this is clearly a design defect that we are all paying for. I would have bought something else. Ridiculous product.

I purchased a Maytag refrigerator from a local business (Decker and Sons in Grand Rapids, Michigan). The fridge is a French door style with the freezer on the bottom and a water dispenser/ice maker in the left door. In the 19 months weve owned the unit weve had to have service three times. One time for the freezer door not shutting correctly, and two times because the refrigerator portion quit cooling (freezer was fine). Both times it was due to something breaking that defrosts the area behind the vegetable drawers.Both times all of our food went bad. Second time it took almost two weeks to fix (Diamond was the repair service). Now, after the service, the left door doesnt shut correctly. The quality of the unit is so questionable that I hesitate to fill it back up with food. Its just plain old junk. Luckily, we purchased a five year warranty when we purchased it...but we thought the service would be performed by the shop where we bought it, but its farmed out to other repair providers.

JADE model RJRS4270. Had this model for 10 years with more than 10 service calls. Always breaking down and Whirlpool will not honor the warranty. Paid for an extended warranty service to Maytag/Whirlpool offered by the manufacturer. When unit broke Whirlpools warranty service provider Assurance said Whirlpool no longer provides the parts needed, sorry can’t honor the extended warranty you had paid for, no parts, and no refund. The evaporator drip tray had been replaced three times. Asked to have the unit replaced. Whirlpool was absolutely disrespectful and only offered me to the option to buy another discounted $8K unit for a with ~ $2K discount.So far approx. $6K unit + approx. $1K extended warranty (not honored) + approx. $1K parts and service out of my pocket (Whirlpool continued to tell me it was not warranted). Although the operator’s manual said it was covered. While under warranty Whirlpool doesnt have replacement parts to service it. Multiple service tech are telling me there are many known issues with this unit. Found out there’s class action law for the same issues Im experiencing. Whirlpool only offered a new unit at approx. $6K. So total for me to date if I choose to take the discounted unit would be $12K. Dont buy this unless you have a good lawyer. Hardly seems reasonable. Jade Specialty Department. Customer support call back - Jared, no warranty, sorry. Explained contract to him. Nope/Nada. Customer support transfer - Jan, yes was warranted. Asked to speak to manager/sup. Said if you won’t honor warranty then please provide replacement. Transfer to Mike said we must schedule service through Whirlpool to fix contradicts. We asked for reference number to track. Mike said they don’t use reference numbers (contradicts Jared from when he asked me for a reference number). Two days no call from Whirlpool. Customer support call back 4/7/16 - Kari, offered small discount for equivalent new or refurbished unit $5,739 for Model KBSN602ESS. Said although under warranty, Whirlpool may not be able to provide parts to repair unit, but they will sell me an equivalent unit.

Because the design is bad, the refrigerator has to be defrosted once a month. A home filled with Maytag appliances, these are all 4 years old and ready for the trash. Dont buy Maytag, it is crap. They sell for money, not workability. The name has been trashed by Whirlpool. I am a builder and they will not ever see me recommend them, not even to a neighbor I dont like.

I purchased a new Maytag fridge apx 8 months ago (model# MFF2258VEW6). It has french doors and a bottom freezer and from day 1 it has constantly leaked water all over my kitchen floor. I started putting towels in front of it after my first slip and fall. I had the water line checked for the ice maker and it was fine. It continued leaking day after day. Then I started getting a lot of ice build up all over the drawers and on my frozen food, which became freezer burned and I only had the temp at 2. They have a warranty on it, so called the company and they brought me a loaner fridge of the same kind.. OMG this fridge is doing the same exact thing, even worse. I am disabled and fell last night again and my leg and foot is so swollen.. I really hurt myself and Im not going to let this company get away with this!! I called the company and told them and they are checking into what they can do with the refrigerator. After reading all the about the Maytag bottom fridge leaks and other problems, I refuse to get the same one again. If they do not do something, I promise I will before I get hurt again!

I’m so disappointed in this refrigerator! It does not keep a steady temperature. It’s only 3 years old and will not buy another Maytag. I do like the freezer on the bottom but it also does not keep a steady temperature.

I am not complaining at all about my dealer. I am complaining that I also am like the many others with the French door fridge/freezer. The bottom of the freezer freezes up and water pours all over the floor. I thought that Maytag was a good appliance, but also had problems with the pump and drain on my washer. Both of these are only 2 1/2 years old.

I have a Maytag MFI2665XEW6. Im getting water on the floor by the bottom draw. It looks like the coil in the back is freezing up and then melting down to the bottom of the freezer and out to the floor. I dont know how to lower the temp on the door panel.

Refrigerator (Model Mff2558vems) purchased end of November 2011. Early in 2013 notice refrigerator first forming ice all over freezer, including an ice sheet on bottom of freezer. Then noticed water around refrigerator. Called maytag and they sent repairman even though a little over year and out of warranty. Their service people seemed to know exactly what was causing the leak as they came in with the correct replacement part. Worked fine however, there was damage to my newly refinished hardwood floors which Maytag did pay to repair. A couple of days ago I opened the freezer and again noticed ice all over freezer. The next day, water all around freezer. I cleaned everything up, so I thought. The day after, we noticed the hardwood in kitchen buckling up far from refrigerator and the laminate in dining room bubbling, even though there was no visible sign of water. Called Maytag repair company but they couldnt come out for a couple of days. Called another local repair service familiar with Maytag refrigerators and he couldnt find anything wrong with refrigerator even though he knows leaking caused by refrigerator. Called insurance co. and they sent over service master. Leak is definitely coming from refrigerator. They had to pull up hardwood floor, part of walls, the dining room. They now have five large fans going and a defroster to dry things up. This is upsetting, as my daughters wedding is next month, my husband is currently laid off and I dont need this kind of aggravation again. I love the french door idea, so roomy for my large family, but I am now afraid of this refrigerator. I dont want it but think it is ridiculous I have to shell out more money when the refrigerator is less than 3 years old. I talked with a higher level supervisor at Maytag and they are only willing to give a 100.00 rebate towards a new refrigerator since the refrigerator is out of warranty. This is ridiculous. I thought by buying American I was helping our economy but what I got in return is heartache and crappy merchandise. If there is a lawsuit in California against Maytag about these refrigerators I want to join. My friend in N. CA who bought her Maytag refrigerator the same time I did is also experiencing leaking. Maytag refrigerator - After 3 months, a water line broke and caused $350 in damages to our kitchen floor. The next month, the ice maker jammed. The next month, the ice maker went out. I have agreed to let the Maytag repairman (youve seen the commercial where he never has anything to do) use our spare bedroom. We purchased a 3K Maytag refrigerator/freezer and purchased an extended warranty as well. 5 months later the ice machine stopped working. We called Maytag to get it repaired since its under the 1 yr factory warranty and they sent an appliance service company they contract with to repair it. 6 service calls and two months later its still not repaired. I called Maytag back to say if you cant fix it please replace it. They say it needs to be deemed not repairable to even consider replacement and that they would send out a different repair company. As of yesterday (9/(9/14) another month and a half and 5 trips from the second repair company and it still does not work, so I call Maytag again to complain and they give me the same line ....needs to be deemed unrepairable... How long and how many service calls does it take to fix a ice maker? How much work and how many hours do I need to miss to get what I paid for? I went to their website and it talks about how their mission statement is customer service etc, etc, etc..... Thats just a bunch of lip service and judging by the HUNDREDS of complaints I have read this is their standard method of operation.... I for one will not let this go and will be filing a claim in small claims court to get what I paid for..... BE WARNED if you are looking to purchase a appliance.

We bought a Maytag refrigerator less than two years ago because... its Maytag. Less than a year later we had five service calls. The refrigerator wasnt cold, the freezer was the temperature of the refrigerator and it took two months and two different repair companies to fix it. We purchased a Maytag Refrigerator-Freezer from Home Depot, in July, 2014. The first two months we had this appliance, it would not make ice (we purchased one that had an ice maker it the freezer!). After numerous calls to Home Depot and about 7 service visits, the service company gave up trying to get the ice maker to work, and instructed Home Depot to give us a replacement refrigerator. The new one came with an ice maker that works some better, but still very slow in making ice, and the new refrig makes a grinding noise every time we open the door. The Maytag Company, whose service people never have anything to do, say this is a cosmetic problem, and they refuse to fix it.Have been in consultation with Whirlpool Company (who bought out Maytag I assume), trying to get the appliance repaired... or at least put an end to the grinding noise. We paid a lot of money for this refrigerator freezer, and have had nothing but trouble and issues with it. If you are thinking about buying a Maytag refrigerator -- Dont!!

On the 11/25/16 bought a refrigerator at Home Depot. Beside that the first was not called off, wait for another month 12/31/16 for the other refrigerator the problem are. I file a complaint because Maytag left me a message refrigerator half a price. Now they deny when I have proof.

I bought a top end Maytag refrigerator with the freezer in the bottom drawer. Spending the extra buck was something that I thought was worth it, being a Maytag. Fifteen yrs go by and it stops completely. It cost me 200 bucks for a service technician to tell me that the compressor or it has a leak. Its not worth repairing. With todays cience and technology, you would think that they can make a refrigerator last for 25 yrs or more, like the old ones. We went to the moon 44 yrs ago. Why cant they make them to last? I think that the corporations figured they can make more money making an inferior product that needs to be replaced every 10-15 yrs. I will never by a Maytag again.

In May of 2009, my husband and I bought a new Maytag refrigerator side-by-side, model MSD-2572VEW. The day we bought it, pieces started breaking. The shelves started cracking, and now they are completely falling apart. There are also cracks in the inside walls of the refrigerator. Every single door shelf, inside shelf and wall is falling apart. I have fixed the ice-maker myself several times. I am now going to design and build some new shelves so that we can get as much use out if it as possible before it is unusable. I am angry that a company can make such a horrible product and not have to take responsibility. If my employer ever provided a client anything but the best, we would all be out a job.

I really like the refrigerator. Its easy to maneuver and frost-free, but I should have gotten the side by side. Also, make sure of your family size before you make final decision. Other than the size I would recommend to family and friends to purchase.

I have a Maytag refrigerator, Model #MBR 2256KES6, that is only 18 months old. It has totally stopped working. First, there was a large puddle of water on the kitchen floor and then a loud clicking noise in the middle of the night. It does not cool the fridge or the freezer. I cannot believe that a $1300 product is done working at 18 months. I cannot afford a new refrigerator. They should be arrested for selling such junk to the public.

Its an old story with Maytag. We purchased a refrigerator in Nov 2012. Three days ago we noticed the refrigerator was making a constant buzzing sound and that the freezer was not cold. A repairman confirmed our suspicions. Bad compressor! Cost to repair, $729. And, the warranty on the new compressor was only 90 days. Cost for a new one $1700. Contacted Maytag. We do offer extended warranties (up to 10 years on compressors) on some models, but not yours. So, we will get a new one but with the extended warranty. It wont be a Maytag.

I spent over 2000 on a Maytag refrigerator. In less than 5 years, the coolant system has gone out twice! The only response I get is, “We are sorry, but it is 5 years old.” Are you kidding me? I have a 20-year-old fridge in the garage that is still working and I didnt spend over $2k on it! I thought Maytag was the best product out there and it certainly is not. Do not ever buy Maytag.

I bought a new Maytag French door refrigerator a few years ago and have been disappointed ever since. The quality is second rate and now the ice maker has failed. The product looks good but performs poorly. Buy a more quality foreign made product instead. Before this I had an LG which was quieter and never had a problem after 10 years.

I purchased the Maytag refrigerator MFF2055DRM on 7/7/16 new. It was suppose to be stainless steel; but now I am seeing rust spots at the top and bottom of the French doors. I clean my refrigeration weekly and find it odd that now it is rusting. Also, I am able to place magnets on the doors - which should not be for stainless steel. In addition, I spend over $100 a year replacing the mandatory filters. I must also place the setting to high to maintain my milk and juices. I must also have to place them in the very back of the refrigeration. I am a single senior and my refrigeration is not overloaded with food; nor am I constantly in and out of the refridge. Not very happy.

We bought a Maytag Refrigerator, Model MSB27C2XAMSS from BrandsMart on 2/4/2015. Today, I made my 4th Service Call for the Ice Maker not making ice. The service department has replaced the icemaker, repaired it and still does not work. When I call for service I usually have to wait 5-7 days before I can have a technician come to my home. Also, the refrigerator door does not close unless you push it completely to the refrigerator, unlike most refrigerators that I have had. I would never buy another Maytag refrigerator and certainly will make an informed and researched decision before buying another refrigerator. I am truly dissatisfied with this refrigerator and would suggest looking for other brands.

Its a shame that I bought into the Maytag equals quality and customer service falsehood. Same problem as the others on this site and undoubtedly thousands of other consumers that bought a similar refrigerator freezer combo only to discover puddles in front of the unit and a 1 thick slab of ice under the freezer drawer. I contacted Maytag parts and when I described the issue he transferred me to warranty. The warranty department acknowledged this was a known problem and they would supply the part, no charge for the part but I would have to pay the serviceman to install it. They would not however, send the part to me to install. The unit is out of warranty, of course it develop the problem until right after the warranty expired. I plan to examine the drip pan and figure out how to improve on the design myself. I will not replace any appliances with Maytag, Whirlpool, Kenmore, or any other major appliances from this group of companies... Beware!

Bought all stainless steel Maytag appliances when we remodeled our kitchen in 2010. French door fridge freezer broke down three times. First the fridge lost its temp and we lost our food. The freezer went into overdrive and froze the vodka solid. Second time massive ice build up in bottom of freezer so we had to constantly chip it away to keep door closed. Third time was a repeat of the fridge not working at all and the freezer going insanely cold. Sad to say, we have given up and bought another fridge freezer for $1,500, not a Maytag!On to the washing machine: a super duper top of the line expensive Maytag. At the end of last year it started to make disturbing jet engine noises in spin mode. It for worse and worse so I had a repair man come and take a look at it. He said it would cost over $700 to fix. Once again, we decided to cut our loses and buy another washing machine. I have saved all the paperwork including the repair bills for both appliances so Im good to go on the class action lawsuit.

The cost was right for the quality of the product. Brand was also a factor. We have had no problems either machine, both work as expected and have fully met our expectations. We recommend these products. Energy efficiency, ease of use and capacity were all considerations in making the selection we made. Maytag continues to hold a good reputation. Regular repairs, low quality construction and a cheap finish which looks tacky and is also difficult to clean would each be deal breakers. We purchased our full-sized, side by side Maytag Neptune Washer and Dryer gently used from a private party who needed to obtain different models due to a remodel of their laundry/utility room. We paid about $600 for the pair.

Read MANY complaints about these units leaking water onto the floor underneath. This is accompanied by a sheet of ice forming on the bottom of the freezer under the main drawer. Good money says the cause is a plugged drain tube. I had a Subzero that suffered a similar problem. The factory installed drain tube was a flexible coil type and food particles would be easily caught, compromising water flow - leading to an ice plug and eventual evaporator ice-over. I replaced the factory tube with 1/4-inch rubber fuel line and the problem went away for good. With the Maytag units, if memory serves, access to the drain tube is from the back of the unit. You have to remove an access panel to get to it. There is typically a small removable rubber restrictor cap on the bottom of the tube; this is the most likely spot for a clog to form. Due to its design, IMO, clogging and ice-over will probably be a periodic thing. If you are really handy, you can do this maintenance thing yourself.

I have a French door fridge Maytag like everyone else. The bottom freezes over and I have to de-ice it. Now the freezer doesnt want to cool. Its 3 years old. Total piece of junk.

Me and my wife bought a Maytag refrigerator from Home Depot. The top half freezes up in a big way and it gets real frosted up I have to pull it apart every 2 months to defrost it. The bottom half starts to get warm if I dont do that. I will not ever buy another Maytag refrigerator again.

At 10 months old, the compressor fails. It took one week to fix. Exactly two months later, the compressor fails again. This time, there are no compressors in stock per the manufacturer and the extended warranty folks. Ten days and counting. 90 degrees outside. No idea when they will be available. It’s time to walk this one year old to the curb and get a responsibly built one. I should have held on to my old one. DO NOT CONSIDER A MAYTAG refrigerator.

I have had this refrigerator for less than 3 years. It recently started leaking water on the floor and all over the bottom of the freezer. Repairman said it is a flaw with the defrost drain design. He thinks Maytag MIGHT have changed it since I purchased mine, but I dont know. Originally they used this small rubber valve;repairman said they get clogged very easily (even though I vacuum around it regularly and dont have any pets). He replaced that part with something sturdy that looks like a p trap. I looked online and there are loads of complaints about this exact issue with the defrost drain clogging. It cost $250 to have it repaired. I called Maytag to ask to be reimbursed and of course they will not do anything since it is out of warranty. Its a shame Maytag wont stand behind their products. Since there are so many of us with this issue, cant something be done?

MODEL: MFI2265XEM1 - ice maker dispenser leaked water while under warranty; took two separate technician trips to repair. Several months later, called Maytag regarding leak and ice at bottom. Technician replaced w/ grommet w/ larger dia drain tube extension; smaller dia causing backup of water & ice. Now, ice maker quit working completely, ice buildup in bottom part of refrigerator and freezer building up frost which means air is getting into the freezer, and yes, the freezer door is completely shut! Please advise if there is a class action suit. Will contact California Attorney Generals office.

I like the full width drawer for large items. Our Maytag refrigerator is 12 years old and just beginning to make noises and get too cold. The little plastic features for setting the temp and humidity on the produce doors were the first to break. Water is inside door which is not as convenient.

We bought a Maytag refrigerator serial # K11101146 and model # MBL2258XES1 on 5/7/2011. We started seeing puddles on the floor about a month ago coming from the bottom freezer. The warranty on the refrigerator was only good for a year. We investigated it further online and saw that a lot of other people were having the same problem. We found a video on Youtube on the solution, which was to tear the bottom frig apart (which is a pain and takes about 3 hours to complete) and to thaw out all the ice accumulated on the coils and run hot water down the drain until that thaws out. It makes a real mess. Now we see that this will probably have to be done again and again from others online who are having the same problem. We never had this problem with any of our refrigerators or any problem with them for that matter. Our last one was a 15-year old Amana and we wanted a more energy efficient refrigerator. We bought this one at Home Depot thinking that this one would last us for the rest of our lives. We are in our mid 60s now. This should not be happening at all especially as much as we paid for the refrigerator. I contacted Maytag and they more or less said, “Sorry about your luck.” I hope something can be done about this, especially for the amount of complaints filed. Unfortunately I did not take pictures but if it happens again, which I understand from other complaints that it will. Thank you.

We purchased our Maytag Refrigerator Model # MBF2258DEHM on 12/21/2015. Just a couple of issues I would like to bring to your attention before you purchase your Maytag. The single refrigerator door does not close automatically. You have to close the door. The metal handle is metal and has a metal smell and feel to it. The stainless steel door and the handles are not the same finish. Although this might not be a problem for some who like the industrial look I prefer my hands to be free of chemicals while I am preparing food. The ice maker takes up too much room. The ice maker should have been an option, not a standard item. I had a Kitchen Aid for 10 years and loved it. I thought I was going to have my Kitchen Aid for 15 years or more. I would have purchased another Kitchen Aid, but the reviews were not good.

I bought a new stainless steel Maytag refrigerator last year. It had a one-year warranty. Wouldnt you know, 14 months after my purchase, the icemaker stopped working. Did not take out the extended warranty, as I thought I had purchased a quality appliance. I contacted the store where I purchased it. Was told it would cost $150 to replace. I have a feeling this appliance wont last very long. Suffice it to say, I will never purchase another Maytag appliance.

MF12569YEM2 - Purchased refrigerator less than 2 1/2 years ago, also started having issues with ice forming in bottom freezer and leaking on to floor. I shut the water source off to the water/ice feature, but it didnt solve the problem. After getting on this site and seeing the issue is quite widespread it seems that it should be considered a manufacturing defect. This is the second (actually third) Maytag Refrigerator we have had, one had actually needed to be replaced about 13 years ago because of electrical problem which service man said could cause it to catch fire. The replacement (different model) worked fine for about 11 years... so we decided to try Maytag again... WHAT A MISTAKE! After reading about the multiple problems we can look forward to and endless service calls I too would never purchase any Maytag or Whirlpool appliances in the future...maybe the company should think about the impact on lost consumers!

Ive had this Maytag for more than 15 years and it still works well. Its a basic fridge, no special features. Just keeps food cold or frozen. Freezer at top, fruit & veggie bins at bottom, cheese bin. No problems, good performance.

Purchased a Maytag fridge in August of 2010. Had issues January 2014 - needed a new circuit board. At the happy cost $230.00. Well it is now May 2014 and had to have the repair man here again for another circuit board $258.64. Maytag will not stand behind their product or parts they use in their products. They flat out told us that we shouldnt have to replace the circuit board that often and then said they wont stand behind it. So buyer beware. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING MAYTAG!!!!!

I bought a Maytag refrigerator, model MBF2258XEW, March 2013. Bottom freezer, single door. The past 3 or 4 weeks I have been noticing water occasionally puddling on the floor at the freezer. The ice maker has never been hooked up, with no problem before now. I recently noticed that my wood floor is darkening in a spot that often gets wet. After reading some of these complaints it appears I am not alone experiencing water problems with something that is sold on its reputation for being trouble-free. I also see that I should expect to pay a few hundred dollars out of my pocket to fix the problem. Very disappointing.

Fridge leaked all over our floor and ruined it! Very unhappy! When we open the freezer we find a sheet of ice on the bottom. We have to keep a towel on the floor so we dont slip and get hurt. I finally get a new kitchen and the fridge is ruining it! Yuck.

I unfortunately just had the same issue concerning my unit. The unit went berserk, stopped cooling and ruined all my food. I managed to get it outside after leaking spoiled food all over my floor. I washed it out and contacted Maytag after reading the hundreds of complaints. They sent someone out to fix the panel but he couldnt get it to cool. He said many times when a unit goes down that the acidity from produce along with moisture can eat through the aluminum components causing a freon leak. Obviously, this happened to me. I contacted Maytag and they said they would fix that too but once I called back, they said that it was a separate issue. Then I spoke with another person who said they would send a tech to inspect. I took off work and finally got a courtesy call from tech saying he was told not to come. I was amazed I missed work waiting and got no call from Maytag saying they changed their mind. I called back in and was told flat out I would not be covered, even though the fridge was fine before this happened. I suggest everyone read over the Consumer Protection Act which covers defective equipment causing issues by both injury and property damage. A class action lawsuit needs to be organized concerning this also. In the meantime, I implore each of you to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in your state along with Michigan where Maytag is headquartered. This will guarantee a response from corporate. Also, make copies of this forum and send it to your State Attorney General explaining how you have been sold a defective item. They say ABC news once did a segment on this fridge issue also, so I suggest contacting them asking for a follow-up story. For those that use social media, go onto their Facebook and Twitter page to post a link to this site and the way you have been treated after spending over $2,000 and a fridge that has lasted 7 years or less. Its time for small voices to unite to form one that is much larger.

I have gone several years with wasted food at random times because my Maytag refrigerator decides to stop cooling whenever it feels like it. This is a continuing thing that started since the appliance was brand new and it has never been resolved. Maytag claims that they cant do anything about my refrigerator. They can do what they want to. From my experience, I feel like the issue is that they dont care to make it right. I am finally fed up with this refrigerator and I am buying a new one. We bought a refrigerator June 4th 2014. 6 month ago the freezer and refrigerator was getting warm. Had to call repair service, it was the blower! On Saturday 12/9/17 freezer wasnt freezing, then fridge was clicking on and off. Unplugged it, called repair service, it was the compressor. $800.00 to fix it, the same amount as when we purchased it. Repair service told us to call Maytag, he said, Maybe they will help you, would not help at all. Talked to Lori, all she said was warranty is up after a year, I then said, I think a refrigerator should last longer than 3 years! Will never buy anything Maytag again! Yes Maytag does SUCK!!!

Purchased a Maytag MSD2553WEW00 refrigerator on 2/27/2011 from Home Depot. Began using it in July 2012 upon completion of home construction. In February 2014, after less than two years of service, the refrigerator was running but no longer cooling. After the expense of several part replacements and a service call, it was determined that the compressor had failed. Unlike most manufacturers, Maytag did not warrant the compressor and closed system beyond 12 months. The refrigerator looks like new but the cost of repair is prohibitive relative to purchasing another new refrigerator. Maytag was contacted but was not helpful.

I recently purchased a Maytag French door, bottom freezer. It was delivered and set up by delivery men and when they pulled out the bottom freezer the bin and tray were missing. This refrig should have never been shipped (per Home Depot) and also delivery men. They called Maytag and ordered the missing part. 5 days later it arrives and is not the right bin. I purchased the 5 year warranty contract and after calling 3 numbers and getting shuffled around, they told me it should also have a slide out. They set up appt. for this Thurs. I wanted to file a claim for loss freezer meat and was told Miss, your 5 year warranty does not start until the 1 year manufacturer warranty is up. She also proceeded to tell me that no refund will be issued and they are NOT responsible when their product leaves their plant and gets to me. REALLY... The refrigerator was not properly inspected and still shipped. Not covered under warranty and fridge is 5 days old and have had issues from date of delivery. I will never make another purchase of a MAYTAG and their customer service could use more training and a course is representing their company in a much better way.

What was shown on tv and the way it looked in home depot were much different when I got it home. The refrig. Is big as a bo car on the outside but inside nothing.

I would like to say that I am highly dissatisfied with paying $1200 for a refrigerator that only can produce ice once every 12 hours and 90% of the time the over fill lever gets stuck so it will not make more. I would recommend anyone to not buy anything Maytag ever.

MF12665XEM7 Maytag Fridge water runs on the floor: After reading the review and watching the video to fix, I called Maytag. They refused to help. We bought our fridge at Nebraska Furniture Mart. We have spent a lot of money with them too. My husband called to see if they would split the cost of the service call. They refused. My floor is ruined from the water leakage onto it when we are not home. We try to catch the ice buildup and remove it before it is an issue. Why is there no class action suit? There is definitely a problem with this fridge and Im seeing it online everywhere I look.

Two months after purchasing our Maytag refrigerator, the light/cooling unit went out. After speaking with Maytag’s customer service and scheduling a repair company to come fix it, it took 3 separate trips over a span of 2 or 3 weeks to finally find the correct replacement piece to get it to work again. It is now 10 months since buying and we, once again, are having issues with the lights going out and randomly coming back on, the water/ice machine not dispensing, and we’re just waiting to see if the cooling unit isn’t out as well.I called Maytag as soon as we noticed the issue, and after waiting 15 minutes on hold, they scheduled a repair service to come check it out... in 5 days. Having spent $2300 on a refrigerator for our family, we were hoping for a reliable product. I would NOT RECOMMEND this refrigerator and will never buy anything, or let any friends or family members purchase anything, Maytag manufactures ever again. As if the faulty product itself weren’t bad enough, I have had the absolute worst customer service experience. Who would have thought it could be so difficult to look up a customer account, even after having it registered with Maytag after purchasing.

Maytag fridges, obsolete in less than 3 years. TWICE! My last Maytag fridge dies at about 2.5 years. I called up customer service. It was a compressor not repairable. This was an expensive fridge. Reluctantly we bought another one as the space could only accommodate a Maytag. Again less than 3 years old, the ice maker is shot and the plastic inserts are all falling apart. This time Ill renovate my kitchen for that extra 2 inches to accommodate a different brand.

I bought a refrigerator from Home Depot in July 2013. In late November 2014, I noticed water on the floor in front of the fridge. I called the Maytag customer service and reported the problem.. The customer service rep explained to me that Maytag discovered a design flaw in the part that allows the water to drain when going through the defrost cycle. I also called Home Depot. Their response was it was my problem because the fridge was out of warranty and I did not buy an extended warranty plan. After two more calls to Maytag, they scheduled a service appointment. The service repairman told me the same thing about the design flaw. I have the old part and the package the new part was in. The two parts are completely different. I requested that Maytag or Home Depot replace the fridge or give me credit for the amount I spent. Maytag is now saying there was not a design flaw and because of that, Home Depot refuses to replace the appliance. I will never buy another Maytag product or shop at Home Depot. The extended warranty is a way to place the responsibility directly on the consumer and eliminating the responsibility of the manufacturer and the store.

I purchased my Maytag Refrigerator in Feb 2013. It is model MFF2558VEW7. It has the French doors w/ freezer at the bottom. This past week, I lost everything in the freezer. I call the Home Depot where I purchased it and they said that I have to call Maytag. I did and they sent a repairman out. It needed a compressor. After only 8 months, the compressor goes out? Why should this fridge be repaired and I not be given a new one? With all the problems with the Maytag, there needs to be one big class action filed. I asked for a loaner because it would take up to five work days for them to order the part. The answer was, We do not provide loaners.

We have a 4yr old model MFI2665XEM7, just started leaking water every other day. A puddle wipe it up and its gone. Have ice build up on the bottom of freezer. Any suggestions on what to do?

Purchased a new side by side American made Maytag refrigerator (Model: MSD2559XVEB ) in August 2010 from Best Buy. Just returned from a 3 week vacation and the refrigerator died shortly after we left on trip ( 14 months post purchase date ). $700 worth of food ruined.

This refrigerator has been my worst nightmare come true. Everything existent freezes: salads, tomatoes, berries, cherries, milk, water, etc. Never again will I purchase a Maytag product. Service is non-existent.

Horrible Refrigerator MSB27C2XAM00. I bought this refrigerator November 2013. Over the past 5 months I have made over 10 calls to Maytag customer service. Each phone call averages 30-45 minutes in length. In total I have and have had 6 service repair visits. Within 4 weeks of acquiring the unit, the letters on the ice/water dispenser wore off. They replaced the panel and within 4 weeks the letters wore off on the replacement panel. The subsequent calls made to customer service were regarding slow water dispensing and shrinking ice cubes. I was advised in order to maintain water speed and decent sized ice cube production I would have to replace the filter every time the water dispensing slows, which is on average every 4 to 6 weeks (each filter costs $40).When I asked why I would have to change the filter so frequently when the packaging instructions with the water filter states you can expect an average of 6 months use or 200 gallons, (mind you we are a family of 2 adults and one child under the age of 10 surely not consuming 200 gallons of water within 4 weeks), Maytag advised me to attain a whole house water filtration system. I was told that the water supply to my home must require extra filtration which is why the filters are not lasting. I asked if other NYC residents have made such complaints. Maytag advised they cannot share this information for confidentiality reasons. I told the rep that I did not want specific names/address of the complainants. I just wanted to know if there were any other similar complaints! If its the NYC water supply I would have to believe there would be similar complaints. Maytag would not advise.They will not budge in replacing the unit. After spending $1,400 on this refrigerator I am now expected to invest $500 annually on water filters in order for the refrigerator to work properly. I was also advised that if another service tech came to my home and the issue was found to be the same I would be responsible for payment of the service call. I did my research before purchasing this Maytag product. I ultimately selected Maytag for their reputation. I am so disappointed with this unit and with the company that I will never purchase another Maytag appliance and I will advise everyone I know to never purchase from this company again. Such a disappointment!

I have been trying to get my refrigerator repaired for over 5 months through the extended service plan I paid for. They sent out a service repairman. He could not repair the refrigerator without some parts so he ordered parts. We waited months to find out he can not get the part anymore that he ordered. So now Maytag Extended Plans and Service Power said they would have to replace the whole refrigerator but every time I call about it, they give me the runaround and say someone will be calling me back within 48 hours.I never get a call back. I give them a few days, then I call back and get the same runaround again. Im getting nowhere with these people. My refrigerator is a $6,500 refrigerator that Im sure they just dont want to replace or offer me anything for that matter. They should abide by the contract I have with them.

Shame on Maytag! Customer Service is appalling! Paid 2500 for one of their top of the line refrigerator/freezer and had the repair people 5 times in one year. It was determined that it is a bad model number that Maytag wont recall but knows it is faulty. Started with ice build up in freezer making it sound like a plane taking off. It kept running trying to defrost (energy efficient-right). The repairman put in a request to have the product replaced based on symptoms and freezer being at 26 degrees. We had to wait five business days for Maytag to review it. I have a family and was having guests. They told me to buy a dorm refrigerator and they would send me a small credit towards it in 4 to 6 weeks. They finally agreed to replace the known faulty model, but I have to wait for the exchange team to contact me (2 weeks later). I keep calling and leaving messages but cant get the exchange team to even return my calls. I have my sons graduation this weekend and I dont have a freezer and my refrigerator is faulty with all my vegetables rotting within two days. It also took two days to originally get someone in management to call me back (even though it did no good - she cant help me). You cannot talk to management if you call customer service. They downright refuse! What a company!

Has anyone talked to an attorney to see if a class action can be filed? My fridge is leaking, sheets of ice on floor of freezer, and ice maker doesn’t work. Looks like it’s the norm for these. Please post if you have spoken with an attorney. If no one has, I am going to.
