I have had the Kenmore range 7909622240B more than a couple years and this is the first time this has happened to me. I have a 254 pound ham on the rack one slot lower than the middle. I was pulling the rack out to drizzle sauce on it and halfway out the rack fell out of the slot, luckily the ham was not on a higher slot or it would have dumped over. I did however get splattered with melted brown sugar and hit my hand against the side of the oven trying to get out of the way of the falling ham. The brown sugar and grease spilled onto the bottom of the oven smoked and burned! What a mess!

I spent two hours trying to talk with someone that would help me find out if there is a recall on my range. The outside glass of my oven shattered in the middle of the night. Luckily no one was near the range. I had glass everywhere. I did notice on this site that there was a similar case on Aug 2, 2016, so I wanted to talk with someone to investigate this problem. After spending much time trying to talk to a real person then finally talking with a person that wanted to send a technician to diagnose what my range needed and the cost to have a technician come to my home would start at $89.00, I gave up and just ordered the glass. I am very worried that this has happened more than two times and someone could seriously get hurt.

Kenmore Double Oven Electric Range: The bottom oven is 50 degrees hotter than what the oven is set at. The owners manual has a section on how you lower or higher the temperature by 35 degrees, but when going through the steps, it appears that the instructions are to change the setting from Fahrenheit to Celsius. So I am unable to use this workaround. It would have only changed it 35 degrees, and I needed it to change 50 degrees. I bought this oven for baking. So it is essentially useless to me.

My washer and dryer are both white. I use both of them and got them for a good price. And the company is a great company. The value is great, the price range is great. I bought a Kenmore Side by Side Refrigerator (Model 10651139214) 33 months ago, less than three years from SEARS. All lights stopped working, all at once. I called the number on the manual and was told that someone could be scheduled to diagnose the problem for a fee of $149 and also that my refrigerator had only a one year warranty and I did not pay extra for extended service. I scheduled the appointment reluctantly. I had a local, and trusted for years, repairman come to take a look. He checked everything and related to the lights, looking at the tech sheet and online. It is determined that the part that is needed is $215 just for the part and it is on backorder with no projected date of arrival. My repairman also said that this specific refrigerator has a Tech Service Alert attached to it, meaning several people have had the same problem. BUT Kenmore does NOT back up their product. What ever happened to good companies backing up what they sell? I will never purchase a Kenmore product again. My purchase from SEARS this time included this refrigerator, a flat top stove and range hood and a dishwasher. The Samsung (another review I left here) stove had issues within the first two weeks and I was told that the stovetop wearing through in two weeks is considered a blemish and isnt covered.

Unfortunately, the model number has worn off, and Sears cannot give me a correct model for the double, not single, oven from their records. I purchase the Kenmore Elite double oven approx three years ago. It has been a disaster from the start! The issues was the rewiring needed for the product that I was not told about. This requires an electrician and an extra charge that is Kenmore specific. The first set of ovens did not work at all. After paying the additional cost for the change the ovens were installed and they did not work. The installer could do nothing and I had to call for a repair. I requested a new set of oven and after a week or two receive a new set. Within 6 month I noticed the doors on the ovens would not close properly and that the calibration was off. I requested another set again to no avail. To date I have had 2/3 additional service calls for the ovens for the same problem. I have requested a new set or satisfaction each time. The most recent repair was in July 2016. Now Nov 26, 2016 they are saying the problem is no longer under warranty for the repair or the extended warranty I purchased. The customer service center has had problems scheduling, sending two repair people or say there is no appointment and then a repairman shows up anyway. This happens even with confirmations and secondary verifications.There was a time when the Sears brand stood for quality, and great customer service. Those days are no more. I purchased a full suite of appliances for a gourmet kitchen with the Kenmore Elite Brand and the two most expensive items, the fridge and the double ovens have had significant problems and repairs. I have been loyal to Sears and so as my family making it a tradition for over 30 years of my adult life. My parent bought Sears as did my entire family but NO MORE! I will exhaust my points and the boycott will begin. We will NEVER purchase anything from Sears again nor will we recommend the store or their products.

Reasonable amount of time for cycle to be completed, clothes never came out ruin in any way, machine used a fair amount of water, but never exceed amount. Have use my Kenmore for years and have not had a problem yet, no problem of any kind, no dial slipping, no buttons sticking, no nothing. Received the machine I picked out without any dents or scratching marks on it. Same color all around, no fading. My Kenmore machine was not the cheapest but it was not the most expensive one either. It was the middle of the price range that I wanted to spend and I received everything I wanted on the machine.

Then this past October 2016, the bottom oven wouldnt heat. November 23rd it was repaired. I extended the warranty because with two repairs I wasnt confident with the range. Then on December 20th, I was using the top oven at 400 degrees, and everything was fine. I then turned on the bottom range at 350 degrees, and noticed it wasnt heating after about ten minutes. I opened the oven to see if it was hot. A ball of flames came out at me. I burnt my eyebrows and a good part of my hair. Luckily I was able to shut out any flames on me, and I closed the oven and shut it off.I called Sears the next morning, rather shaken to report what I consider a safety issue. They scheduled a service call so a technician could access the problem. I told them I didnt want it repaired, only replaced. I got a bit of a runaround. They first came quickly then ordered parts. Sears says it is repairable. They scheduled me for Jan 5th, and I waited all day and no one showed. Today, someone came. I said I didnt want it fixed. The service man called his supervisor, then Sears directly called me, and said as part of the process I must have it repaired then file a complaint.When I called they said I should have refused the repair, because now it is deemed in working order. I said I dont feel safe after my ordeal. The supervisor at customer service said even if I had a brand new stove, no one could guarantee my safety. Talk about confidence inspiring. I let them know I wasnt pleased with that. They then offered me a $630 credit towards a new stove. I paid $2,300. I didnt accept yet, because I dont know if I should.

I did everything the manual stated to do and also took out the racks and self cleaned them myself. The representative on the phone told me to put a hot cloth with white vinegar over the area, and then I may have to rub the area, if that didnt work to take a razor blade and lightly go over area and the spots would be removed. After trying both methods neither worked. I phoned again and another representative told me she could have a tech come out the following day but it would cost me $75.00 or $39.00 a month to cover all appliances in the house. I told her absolutely not and informed her that I would not be purchasing anymore Kenmore products. Then out of curiosity I wondered how much the part would cost just to replace it and after researching on the internet the part was $60.00. So therefore I would have had a tech come out for $75.00 then probably charge me at least $100.00 for the part and to replace it, what a rip-off. Other customers please do research before falling for this scam.

Every week without fail, the handle comes apart, causing the glass door and white casing to fall to the ground and I have to screw the entire door and handle back on. We arent rough with this appliance. Its a piece of junk, period. Another thing is that the cooking elements dont provide consistent heat. If I want to boil water to make a cup of tea, I swear I have to wait five minutes before the water in the kettle comes to a boil. I really detest this stove and I am counting the days until it finally gives up the ghost so I can buy a decent stove.

The oven made a loud popping noise then glass shot out everywhere. The model is 790-92803010. Sears was no help and refused to view this as a safety issue when this happened the first time in June of 2012, so I contacted the Better Business Bureau and was eventually reimbursed for the cost of new glass on the oven. How could this possibly happen again? I dont see a recall on this oven and suspect there is something wrong with the seal on the door. Thanksgiving is in less than two weeks and I have to cook for 15 people!! I am disgusted with the service and this product. Furthermore, the ice make is not working on my Kenmore Elite refrigerator.

It had endured one of my king size comforter and a number of occasions. Also has endure tons of clothes piled on high without ever messing up. It is white with easy to read settings. I like how the controls are easy to read and adjust if needed to be changed on a different setting, due to the clothing difference. It was/is my price range for the right amount of size and settings for my family. It has held up to its value so many times and I see a few more years with it as well.

Had a service consultant from the gas company come out to sniff for leaks and he informed us it was leaking from the regulator and 2 of the burners. He told us this was the 4th or 5th Oven he had seen leaking like ours. We called Sears to have the oven exchanged and they setup another delivery for a few days later. After waiting about an hour or so after their so called scheduled delivery was suppose to be I called to find out where they were. The delivery consultant informed us that the new oven they were suppose to deliver was also damaged and that they needed to reschedule another delivery. Sears couldnt even be bothered to call and let us know. At this point we are just trying to get a refund. Enough is enough. Trying to navigate Sears customer service seems to be a battle all on its own. Its no wonder with customer service this terrible why the company is such a bad financial situation. Save yourself A LOT of hassle and buy something other than this range and save yourself even more hassle by shopping somewhere other than Sears.

Kenmore Ultra Bake Super Capacity Free Standing Gas Oven - Our oven stopped working right before Thanksgiving of 2012. It would not hold a temperature or even turn on at times. We had the control panel replaced for $300, and it got us through Thanksgiving. The oven originally cost $600 so to replace the control panel was very expensive. Right after Thanksgiving, it began to work inconsistently again. Our most recent incident was where the oven stayed on and increased the heat even though we turned it off and the control panel said that the oven was off. The gas was still on and clearly, the oven was increasing in temperature. We then got the error message E2-F3 which is the warning that it was too hot. We could not get it to turn off so we called the gas company to come right away. The gas man that showed up said that if we had cut the power to the house, the gas would have remained on unless we turned the gas valve off as well. This stove is too dangerous to keep. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

The only issues I had were with the freezer. It was hard to always fit several frozen pizzas and large tubs of ice cream. I just had to change my grocery shopping habits. It isnt the most glamorous. Its not ugly. It just looks dated when compared to stainless steel. It matched my kitchen at the time. It was on the lower end of the price range of refrigerators but it has lasted a long time without having repairs. It also doesnt use a ton of energy.

About 4 years ago, my wife and I bought 6 new Kenmore products for our new home including a dishwasher, oven, microwave, refrigerator and a washer and dryer. All of these products have failed. The oven will no longer bake. The microwave when turned on has a lighting show in the side which I feel is very unsafe. The dishwasher coating has come off the racks and they are rusting badly. The dryer door will not latch because its broken and the start button has broken too. The washer leaks and keeps stopping in the middle of a cycle and flashing a code for some problem. And last but not the least, the fridges filter leaks. We have tried to contact Kenmore and no one will talk to us or help, and dealing with Sears is just a joke! My wife and I spent very good money on these products and dont feel we should have to replace them 4 years later or have to repair them. They are all Kenmore Elite products and for the money we spent, we think the company should stand behind their products and workmanship. Even a call back or just a response would be nice, but I guess this is a company where once they get your money theyre done with you. If theres any way someone could help us, that would be great. We just want to be able to cook and do laundry again like people with working appliances do. Thank you for your time.

Being the parent of two children and having a busy life the capacity of the dishwasher is very important. It hold all of our daily dishes and glasses in one wash cycle. The easy clean exterior of the dishwasher is very nice. The controls are not overly obvious and the appliance is eye catching. The interior shelves are nicely arranged and look good. It isnt digital; which I prefer because digital appliances need too many repairs and are very costly when the circuitry breaks down. The con is they dont brown as well as metal ovens. After food cooks, I open the door to take out food and the glass tray and fan do the same thing. Tried unplugging the unit to see if that would reset it, didnt work. Still malfunctions.This is more Chinese junk with the Kenmore name! Sears makes huge profits by cheating its loyal customers and almost forcing us to purchase expensive service contracts. Ive been a Sears customer since 1992; now that will end. By the time I pay for repair of the 3 year old microwave, it would cost much more than the $160, that included the 2 year service agreement. You cant simply throw it away or place it in the recycle bin. Its only 3 years old! The Panasonic oven it replaced was 23 years old! What does that tell you about the quality of Kenmore products? When I load the dishes, the washer removes all food and stains in minutes and makes the dishes like plates, spoons and even big vessels absolutely clean. It states that it removes 99.99% bacteria while washing them. The dishes do not feel wet when I remove them. They are very dry and I do not need to wipe them with a cloth. It is larger in capacity than my previous dishwasher even though it looks smaller. There is plenty of room on the top rack for tall glassware and the top tray lifts and lowers for bigger pots. The sleek, nondescript stainless steel finish allows it to go with pretty much any brand of appliance that you may have in the rest of the kitchen. The top buttons are aesthetically pleasing. It looks good in my kitchen. This dishwasher was an excellent value and beat all other dishwashers in its price range. It has great price and it looks like it should have cost more.

Since then, I have had four service calls for the same problem, which is called an Error 14. This particular error message stops the oven from working, making it impossible to bake or warm anything up. Once the Error 14 message appears the oven completely shut downs. It does not let you override it or bypass it. The control part has been replaced twice and finally on December 26, 2012 Sears replaced the touch screen but still the Error 14 message remains.Sears had me purchase a premium warranty for $270. The oven cost $1,500. Since I have had this oven (January 2011), I have had to take off work seven times for the same problem. The Sears serviceman that came to my home to fix the oven worked on it for three hours trying to fix the Error 14 again. To this day, the oven is not fixed. The serviceman told me to call the Lemon Line for a replacement. I called and they gave me another appointment for January 4, 2013. On January 4th, the serviceman was at my house for 30 minutes. He talked to the service people and ordered the control panel part directly from the manufacturer. On January 11, 2013, the same serviceman installed the third control panel and it still did not fix the Error 14 issue. The oven will heat up to 114 degrees then it triggers the Error 14. At this point, the serviceman feels that he has exhausted all possibilities on fixing the oven and he is not coming back.The issue with my oven has been going on for two years. For two years, I have not been able to make my family meals to eat. I have not been able to make holiday meals for my family to enjoy. I have been forced to go to family and friends homes for the holidays just to enjoy a home cooked meal. I think that it is unfair that Sears has not taken care of this issue in a timely manner. No one should have to go without an oven for this long. I only want to be made whole. I would like for this oven to be exchanged for one of equal value ($1500) and a check for $270 for the premium warranty I purchased for the oven that still does not work.Since this issue began in February 2011, I have been extremely stressed and frustrated due to the fact that I am not able to use my oven to bake meals. Sears has offered me no recourse other than to sell me a warranty that has not been useful. I would greatly appreciate if someone from your company could exchange my oven for equal value but not the same brand.

What kind of junk is coming to consumers that we have to deal with this? They want me to wait 48 hrs to hear from the installation team.Updated on 12/19/2015: Continuation... Sears came out on 12/12 to replace the non working Kenmore Elite convection over the range unit. The installers did not re tape the exhaust vent and the vent air is being circulated through my cabinets. The new Kenmore Elite convection does NOT WORK! Once again hit 350/450 degrees (to check temp). Youre lucky if the temp gets to 300 degrees (yet the unit said it reached temp). I asked for a service tech to come out to verify that the oven was not getting to temp. Bob came out, tried to give me a line of bull that the electricity was not good but I immediately called an electrician who said The tech is trying to snow you. Dont believe him! Bob went on to say that the heating elements are located in the left rear causing uneven heating where the left will get done first and the right side would take more time. Bob went on to say that ALL the GEs and Kenmores he has worked on and as a matter of fact, all the new microwaves are NOT GETTING TO TEMP. He said most people use it to reheat, make popcorn, make a pizza. They dont bake/roast in it. Well my thinking this is FRAUD AND FALSE ADVERTISING as well as UNSAFE. Poultry, meats, etc. need to be cooked at a certain temp. If some inexperienced person follows a recipe... put in at 350, bake 25 minutes and takes it out to eat it, the poultry, meat will not be cooked because at 350 youd be lucky if the temp gets to 250. This is now my second Kenmore Elite and they are suppose to come out today between 1-5pm to install yet another 3 new Kenmore Elite. I am beside myself that Bob said all the GEs he installed in Monsey, NY are having the same problems. To me and my opinion, that means that the vendor who they purchased the heating elements is selling bad stuff. Where is quality control in the companies who are selling these products? In addition I feel that each time they remove/install, they are weakening the cabinets that the units are being installed in. Where does it stop? Who needs to take responsibility? There should be a recall on these and/or the companies need to send out a tech at their own expense to have the microwave/convection tested. To see that they reach temperature. This is UNSAFE for people wanting to bake or roast in the units.

When turned on, the oven will go into preheat mode. Once the preheat temperature is reached, the preheat light goes off, but the upper element stays on. The upper element will not go off until the oven controls sense that something is wrong. By that time, the oven is extremely hot, and eventually shuts itself off with an F1 error. If anything is on the upper rack of the oven, it will start on fire due to the intense heat. Since the time of the first incident, the oven has not functioned normally.The internet is littered with complaints about this same Kenmore model. So, I can see that I am not the first customer to encounter this problem. The point is, there is a design problem with these ovens. Upon calling the Sears service number, I was advised of several plans. They told me I would have to pay a Sears tech to come and fix the oven. Needless to say, I bristled at the thought of paying to have something fixed that has a serious design flaw. This comes very close to saying that Kenmore put the design problem in so that they could fix and make a little extra money. As far as I am concerned, Sears/Kenmore should recall these ovens.

I also told him I was going to seek legal advice, expose Sears through our local news station in the SF Bay Area if this issue was not resolved. Im shocked that this has taken so many phone calls and a service call and I still was offered 20% off a new oven and not a replacement oven. I have purchased numerous appliances through Sears and never received a run around such as this. This is a Health and Safety issue. While sitting watching the parade, I began smelling a strange odor. While walking into kitchen, my husband and I heard a loud boom. I walked to the microwave, there was a flame inside the cabinet and the glass turn table was totally shattered. We moved into action to smother the fire to prevent the flame from accessing the magnetron. The next day, we called Sears Service. The technician was scheduled for a 12:00 PM to 5 PM window of time. At 6:19 PM, I received a text that technician was on the way. At 7:00 PM I called, dispatcher could not locate technician. A technician was rescheduled for Monday. The technical arrived on Monday and said that he came on Friday but could not see an address (our address is located on our mailbox). When the technician viewed the cabinet of the microwave and he stated that he had never seen anything like that. He called his senior team but stated that he was having difficulty in cell phone service. He could forward photos of the cabinet to the Senior Team. The exterior of the microwave looks brand new. The technician departed. We received an email stating that the fire was caused by customer negligence. Therefore, the warranty was cancelled and no further action would be taken. We called Service. We were told that the microwave was totally burned by us. We explained that this microwave is setting in our cabinet. It is totally burned. If you walked into our kitchen you would never know about the damage within the cabinet. Of course, my husband disconnected the microwave from electricity to prevent another fire from happening. We asked for another technician to make an assessment of the damage. We were told that we would have to pay a service charge for a technician to come out again. We consented to pay the charge for an assessment. Sears then proceeded to attempt to send the same technician again. My husband called in protest. He was told that the particular technician was the technician for this area. We are totally disappointed in this defective product and the Customer Service rendered by Sears. They have no regard for the customers who purchase their products.

We purchased a new Kenmore electric range. Within 4 years, the oven box had expanded from the oven heat so that the oven racks no longer fit but fall out of the grooves. When I contacted Sears, they refused to accept responsibility but said they could supply racks that fit at $106.00 + tax and shipping each. I ordered the racks, but they are the same size as the original and Sears said that they cannot help me. I am not alone. Many other consumers have had this same experience. This should never happen. Sears should recall these stoves due to the safety factor alone or at the least, provide wider racks even if we must pay for them to address the problem. I will never purchase another Sears appliance.

It is the perfect size for a smaller space, like an apartment or a condo. It is compact, yet not too small, as it houses all of our dishes perfectly. You can fit a good amount of dishes in, yet it is not bulky. The appearance of the Kenmore is fairly clean. I feel as though this model looks slightly dated, due to the large selection of newer models offered on the market today, however it is stainless steel, and goes well with all appliances, as it has a very neutral, clean face. I feel as though, you pay for what you get with this model. Dishwashers can be expensive and this one is in the more low to moderate range, and it is worth it.

The panel started to spark, and then caught on FIRE! I was able to put the fire out, pulled the stove away from the wall, and removed the back panel. The control panel was completely burnt. Sears informed me that I should have bought the Master Protection Agreement for circumstances like this. It is 2 years old. Sears refused to stand behind their product and Vanessa, the company rep, informed me that I should have had it serviced yearly like it states in the manual. Nowhere in the manual does it recommend removing the back panel and checking the motherboard to see if it might potentially catch fire. Sears only attempt to make this right was to try and sell me a protection plan in case it happened again. An internet search showed that Kenmore stoves are known for this problem, but nothing is being done to correct it. I caution any buyer, DO NOT PURCHASE A KENMORE STOVE, and I would highly recommend that due to Sears lack of concern, do not purchase anything from this company.

No explosions just a noise that made me fearful of using the oven and definitely reduced my use of it. I returned from holiday vacation to a stove leaking gas with the eyes turned off. The local gas company conducted an inspection and declared the stove dangerous and unsafe. Now the stove sits in my kitchen with a red tag labeled dangerous. When we asked about the warranty and manual, it turns out that the consumer is at fault no matter what happens.My house could have caught on fire. I have a microwave oven that should not be sold because of its tendency to catch on fire or blow up. The techs used the words blow up, not me. It is a fire hazard. Sears will neither replace nor will they repair the microwave. The people at Sears dont know that Kenmore is a part of that company and that they have the same numbers. Its ridiculous. I took pictures of the charred section. I thought Sears was better than that. I guess the best suggestion is dont buy microwave ovens from Sears. I checked other reviews and they all give terrible reviews. I should have read those first.

Not sure what happened, but anything we cooked was raw on top and burned to a crisp on the bottom. A few more calls later to their service department where, once again, they walked us through the process of turning the top oven on to as hot as it would go. Recording the temperature using a thermometer we had to place in the oven, turn the oven down, wait for it to cool down, record the temp, etc., etc.Again, we gave up and decided my time is more valuable than a working top oven and had already spent HOURS on the phone being shuffled around from department to department (Warranty Dept, Customer Service, Customer Solutions, Home Warranty, back to customer Service where I was transferred incorrectly back to Home Warranty...). So, we lived with an intermittently working board and now a clearly improperly heating top oven. BUT - we didnt buy the extended warranty so we were now out of luck since a year has since passed.Fast forward three blissful (not) years with this piece of crap oven and we start to notice that the racks in the bottom oven seem to be very loose. Hmmmm. Take all racks out, rearrange them thinking that perhaps they have designated slots in which each rack fits, but they all seem to have the same problem. On the phone to Customer Service we go... And again we are transferred all over the organization until finally we land upon a person that might be able to help me. IF we are willing to pay $280 for a service contract upon which they will send a tech out to make repairs up to $500. If I dont want to go that route, I could always sign up for a Home Warranty ($55/month for 1yr contract or $35/month for 1yr contract for appliances) OR a Service Smart Agreement - again for repairs UP TO $500. After that, I pay for it... Oh yeah, I had to pay either a $90 or $60 service call each time a tech came out.At this point, my life is getting shorter and shorter and I decide I cant spent any more time being dragged around by the nose by Sears any longer and wave the white flag - until one day, I leaned down (to the floor, because this is where the bottom oven is) to lift a roast out of the oven and the racks suddenly collapse spraying bubbling, scalding juice all over the front of my arms, chest and legs. The oven walls seem to be expanding every time we turn this thing ON! Im now down to ONE rack in the bottom oven, a non-functional top oven (unless you like your cookies and biscuits raw on the top and charred on the bottom) and an intermittently working sensor - that, by the way, I rely on to use the top burners. If I could give this stove - and Sears Customer Service (Im looking at you, Cheryl) negative stars, I would.I tried today to give it one more go at getting this thing serviced by Sears since the aluminum foil that Ive had to wrap around the sides of the racks in the oven (so that they will take up some space and not collapse on me under the weight of a casserole dish) is going to need to be beefed up soon, but it was once again fruitless. I spent HOURS on the phone going through the merry-go-round of transfers from one department to another and in the end, spoke with NINE different people in different departments until I ended with the above esteemed Cheryl in Customer Solutions who listened patiently to my story (which, by this time I had been a little sick and tired of reiterating) and went on to tell me that since I hadnt purchased an extended warranty through them that I was out of luck.Really? Even though my first call to complain about this happened within months of owning it - when it was under the one year warranty? Again, she called to my attention that I never even had a service person out to my house. Yeah, no kidding Cheryl, because they had ME to do the work for them - which I did, by spending hours over the phone pressing this button, relaying the info to the tech on the phone, pressing that button, relaying the info. etc, etc. Sears did a really good job of stringing me along long enough that I was out of warranty and they could wash their hands of the whole thing.For generations, my family has been die-hard Sears appliance customers and have always had excellent products and service. That is a thing of the past. Get you in, sell you the appliance, and get you to spend even MORE money on a warranty. God knows one shouldnt expect a $2000 stove to last longer than a year... Ill be buying my appliances locally from here on out.

While waiting for it to pre-heat, the oven started beeping wildly, then a terrible electrical burning smell flooded the house. My husband raced to the kitchen to see flames shooting out of the vents in the back. He managed to get the fire out and the gas turned off. The entire backside of wires was charred. We took photos & went to Sears where the Manager told us there was nothing he could do. He said it was up to the Service (1-800-4-MY HOME). We were incredulous that Sears does not have its own managers making these types of customer service decisions, but rather that the repair service to which they contact has that authority! I reminded him this was not a user error in that we did not set off a grease fire, but that the stove CAUGHT ON FIRE! We suggested that we thought Sears should take that very seriously, as a house fire could have resulted. He went on to repeat that Service would charge us to come out to verify & assess the damage & likely offer us no satisfaction. We previously bought appliances from Sears, but no longer. All our friends are incredulous that Sears is not replacing this stove.

Recently, we found out the stovetop burner knobs are rendered useless VERY easily and VERY expensive to replace. There is a thin sheath inside the knob that fits over the shaft that controls the burner heat. This sheath often stays on the shaft when the knob is removed for cleaning. The first time it happened was by our cleaning lady, and she didnt notice that the knob was loose when she replaced it. We later figured out that the sheath had come out of the knob and just got lost. Now I am finding the sheath often stays on the shaft when I remove the knob and has to be replaced in the knob. It is very, very thin. We had to order a replacement knob and it cost $40!! $30 for the knob and $10 to ship. Not happy at all and will not recommend this product. Sad, because I have always had Kenmore appliances. No more.

However had a spillover and decided to do the first self-clean. Range is 1 year and 8 months old. The error code came on flashing F-10 on the display. I hit the off button but the F-10 continued to flash. Turned off electric supply at the breaker. Never had a ring or anything other than the F-10 to alert me. By the time it cooled, I had done the research for troubleshooting which was very helpful through YouTube by a Sears technician. We learned there was probably a temperature sensor problem. We also learned how to test it and the control panel. After removing the back panel, we discovered they both were heat-damaged. Part of the control panel was blackened by fire. The odor that I smelled and thought was the cleaning, was the plastic around the panel and the elements within the control panel. Called Sears - they offered to send a technician that would cost $89, then of course it would need the parts. Didnt bother finding out what that would cost. Did not buy the extended warranty. Who would have thought that the first time you self-cleaned an oven it would catch something on fire!!! Very unsatisfied. We are going to attempt to fix it ourselves but we do not intend to ever purchase Kenmore again. Loved my KitchenAid that I had for years and only got rid of it because it was black and I wanted to change to white. Needless to say, we are angry. Also said they could not find where there was a recall on the range. Gave me another to call which I will do. Now to hope for a recall which I feel is necessary!!! I love the size of the refrigerator and all of its compartments, but I do sometimes wish that the freezer had a little more space. (We do have a second fridge/freezer in our basement for holidays and alcohol.) The refrigerator looks very nice in our kitchen. It flows and does not look too clunky. (The black model) Matches our countertops and accents the oven as well. I would recommend the Kenmore Refrigerator and have to friends and family. Although a little pricier, we feel the value was well worth the reward.

We decided to be on the safe side and replaced the whole thing for $330 (plus the $100 service call fee). Almost exactly one year later the broiler element is out, we pulled off the back panel yesterday and sure enough, the electrical panel is burned again. So its a poorly made product, and its cost me over $1000 to own this oven for just over 5 years. It was nowhere near worth that amount of money. Dont ever buy a Kenmore range.

Kenmore had the features we wanted, the color we preferred and the price range we wanted to stay in. Kenmore is also a recognized, popular brand. The dishwasher has met our expectations and I love the pot scrubber feature. I also like that I can turn off the drying cycle. It also lets me customize my load preference like light wash, pots and pans etc. However, sometimes the dishes arent totally dry even when I choose to have them dried. A few times Ive had to rerun the dishwasher because the dishes were still dirty and the casserole dish had baked on noodles.

The washer machine doesnt fail to work. I have had it for a long time and it still hasnt worn its performance. It cleans everything perfectly and without fail. I can always trust this machine. It has never proven bad. This machine is reliable for any clothes and large to fit them into it. The appearance of this washer machine is marvelous. It fits perfectly in next to the dryer. The funny thing is the two machines next to one another fit perfectly in the laundry room. It is well worth the value. It has never let me down. I have had this washer machine for 3 years and it still acts as if its brand new. Im amazed.

Kenmore 790944464702 range was replaced under warranty once. Call in multiple times after with electric burning smell when using oven. Flashing stove top light. Repair could not fix and went out of warranty. Finally the circuit board burnt up. Wires melted to board. Was required to order a new boarded for $200 and wire harness for $200. Lucky it didnt burn down the house. Junk it and DO NOT BUY SEARS! Model kenmore 790944464702. JUNK.
