Bought our Oven 2009 (Kenmore Elite)... Dec 2013 turned on the Clean Oven, and after two hours heard a loud pop. Could not open oven, because it was on clean. When we did, found a hole in the bottom of the oven and you could see the heating element. The light wasnt working, and our outside panel was only half working. Called Sears repair, and said would cost $950 to fix ($500 for labor). I said that this was dangerous, that my oven basically exploded on CLEAN feature. He said I know, most of my calls are because of the SELF Clean. He told me Self Clean, Self destruct. He said he wont let his wife use the self clean because of the problems it causes with ovens. He makes his wife clean the old fashion way because of all the problems he has seen. He said there were no recalls, and he couldnt give me a discount. He asked if I had the extended warranty problem. I said no... but this shouldnt be happening. He said he agrees, but he was only the service man. I am really disappointed that this is considered normal... and it is a big hazard... I am now in the process of finding a new oven... and believe me it wont be Sears... and wanting an oven without self clean... That feature should be taken off... It is amazing how much more you spend on an oven with that feature, a feature that can blow up your oven. The pride sure has gone out of American Made Products... Just venting... no pun intended.
Very good product. The refrigerator was a plain Jane white and it looked clean. It was just right for our little family but our family got larger and it started to get cramped and thats part of the reason we bought another one. But its performance stood up. For over 6 years it was time for an upgrade but it has done a good job. It was a fair value for the time most refrigerators were in that price range at the time and it was a reputable company with a good name.
Kenmore Ultra Bake Super Capacity Free Standing Gas Oven - Our oven stopped working right before Thanksgiving of 2012. It would not hold a temperature or even turn on at times. We had the control panel replaced for $300, and it got us through Thanksgiving. The oven originally cost $600 so to replace the control panel was very expensive. Right after Thanksgiving, it began to work inconsistently again. Our most recent incident was where the oven stayed on and increased the heat even though we turned it off and the control panel said that the oven was off. The gas was still on and clearly, the oven was increasing in temperature. We then got the error message E2-F3 which is the warning that it was too hot. We could not get it to turn off so we called the gas company to come right away. The gas man that showed up said that if we had cut the power to the house, the gas would have remained on unless we turned the gas valve off as well. This stove is too dangerous to keep. I would not recommend this product to anyone.
I purchased a Kenmore gas range model 79071153705 in April of 2010 and in Nov of 2014 the oven and the broiler stopped getting hot, wouldnt heat up whatsoever. This is totally unacceptable! I didnt spend a good chunk of money on a major kitchen appliance for it to crap out within 5 years. I expected it to last 20-25 years. I have been without an oven for 3 mos now because I cant afford to get it fixed, which probably wouldnt be worth it because a repairman would charge an arm and a leg to fix it, and I cant afford a new range right now. I do know this, when I do buy a new range it wont be Kenmore. Kenmore stinks!!!
Kenmore 9240 Range - We replaced our kitchen appliances a year ago. The first problem is the preheating time this oven takes. The oven requires 25-30 minutes to preheat. I was told by the service man that this is because there are no coils in the bottom of the new ovens so they take longer. What a pain!!!!! Please give me the old coils and let me preheat in 10 minutes!!! I then used the self cleaning feature. The heat was so intense (840 degrees) that it literally melted the resurfaced cabinets next to the oven. The repair technician said that this was very common for this oven, and that the salesman should have told us about this. Guess what - he didnt!!!! I now have to pay to repair my new kitchen. Sears would not. If you have resurfaced kitchen cabinets - stay away from Sears ovens!!!!
Just bought a new Kenmore Elite Oven along with a Kenmore Elite Refrigerator & a Bosch Dishwasher from local Sears store 8/2/2013. 4 1/2 months later as I am preheating the oven I hear the little fans inside making terrible noises. Then, BOOM. All lights go out on oven & top eyes. It threw my 50 amp breaker. My husband said do not touch it! It had to have been strong to flip that breaker. Has anyone else had problems with their ovens? I called Sears & they said 2 weeks before a repairman could come! So, I cannot cook for my family for over 2 weeks not counting how long it will take for them to get the parts!!!
We bought a new Kenmore electric range model #790.93751102 in 2001. I have not had any problems with the oven until two nights ago. We turned the oven on to 350 degrees and waited for it to preheat. We put cookies in the oven and within a few minutes there was smoke inside. My daughter opened the door which caused flames. She shut the door. Smoke was all over the house and pouring out of the oven. I turned off the oven thinking that would do it. Smoke was still filling the air and the oven was getting hotter. I looked in the door window and noticed the upper element was on. We decided to turn the breaker off. Im so glad I did not open the door because we heard a pop and flames came shooting out of the door and then quickly got sucked back in. At that point I called 911. The fire department was dispatched as well as some deputies. We were instructed not to open the oven door until someone got there. By the time the deputies had arrived, the oven was no longer smoking. When we turned the breaker back on, the upper element went back on, and we hadnt touched the oven. The broiler just turned on for no reason. I contacted Sears, and the technician said he had never heard anything like that happening. I told him he should do a search because I found that there are plenty of us around. I know the unit is not new, but that shouldnt happen. Thank God no one was hurt, but we could easily have been, and our house could have burnt down. Im glad we did not leave the kitchen to go to another room until the timer went off. Thinking about that makes me shudder.
We have a Sears Kenmore self-cleaning oven. Last week the broiler came on, when the oven was off! I thought I smelled something hot in the house and found the oven extremely hot, on the verge of being on fire. After shutting off the breaker and allowing the oven to cool, my husband turned the breaker back on. Oven is still off. The broiler came on. We allowed the oven to cool again. My husband removed the back panel and disconnected the broiler. However, we are not comfortable with the stove and will be replacing it - but Not with a Sears product. My daughter had the same range. Two years ago my granddaughter (age 16) was baking cookies. She put a tray of cookies in the oven, left the room and the self-cleaning came on. The cookies started on fire and she could not open the oven because the self-cleaning lock was on. Stove was a total loss. Lousy product.
It was perfect. I would buy another one if I could afford it. It kept everything cooled or frozen exactly how it should. It was HUGE. Lots of room for any size container. The places in the door were awesome. The drawers were big and roomy as well. The freezer side wasnt hampered by the ice maker either. I loved the stainless steel. Easy to clean. Shiny. Sexy. Much better than the typical textured outside of most refrigerators. Smooth. Lovely. It was priced perfectly. Mid-range. It was a scratch and dent model too so there was an additional discount which made it much more appealing to me and much more affordable.
I bought my Kenmore Elite Slide in then end of March 2010. It was beautiful. I had it about 2 or 3 weeks and made a lasagna. The rack fell down. It made a mess. I wiped it up as best I could and waited a couple of weeks to run the clean cycle. Our oldest was graduating and I wanted to show off my new kitchen with a clean oven. The clean cycle worked fine but afterwards it would not heat. It took the repairman over six weeks to come out and then another three months to put in a new part. This happened two more times since then. The last time I told the repairman I was going to run a clean cycle as soon as he left, I did and afterward it worked. Yeah! We replaced two of the racks also. My turkey fell out at Thanksgiving, my primerib at Christmas. I cleaned the oven again Dec 27,2011 and the repairman is supposed to come today. I paid over $2300 for this oven. I thought I was purchasing a top of the line product. I feel I should be able to clean it everyday if I want and I shouldnt have to worry about myself or my family being severely burned and maimed making a meal.
We were so happy with the features of our side by side refrigerator. Until after 2 years after purchase it stopped cooling. My old cheap fridge that it replaced lasted 10.5 years. I purchased this more expensive refrigerator as I thought LG/Kenmore was a good brand (also bought a stove & washer dryer by them. Upon researching the problem, looks like there is a class action suit against LG due to faulty compressors failing after 3 years, which they claim LG knew about, but kept selling these. Now I am out a freezer full of meat and have an expensive repair. THIS IS NOT FAIR. I had a repairmen come diagnose the problem and he said it is the compressor. $300 for parts and $600 for labor. That IS $900 to fix my $1400 fridge. A MAJOR APPLIANCE SHOULD BE BACKED BY BY AT LEAST A FIVE YEAR PARTS AND LABOR WARRANTY. I was not expecting to buy a new fridge every 2 years.
Last year I purchased the Kenmore 73059 fridge from Sears to replace the 6 year old Kenmore French door fridge that I purchased from Sears that died. First of all, the water dispenser leaked. The tech blamed it on low water pressure in my home, but the old (6 year old) fridge didnt leak. Now, mere weeks out of warranty, the new fridge is dead. All customer service could say was, You know its out of warranty. You should have purchased one of our home warranties. Do NOT purchase Kenmore appliances. They are unreliable pieces of junk!!! And they do NOT stand behind their products. Oh, and the microhood (over-the-range microwave) I purchased 7 years ago needed a new magnetron at 51 weeks old (at least it was covered under the warranty). Note it has a bad humidity sensor (at 7 years old).
The range is easy to use and heats up really fast. It would be better if it had an induction system. The range does not appear to come with a hood and fan system which would be helpful if they did offer those to go with it. I like that it comes in different colors. Very helpful that it comes in gas and electric. Knobs come off for easy cleaning and the top raises so you can get underneath.
I purchased a Kenmore Gas Range Model 790.74419810 on September 6, 2019 from a local Sears store in Southern California as a gift for my niece. The appliance was not delivered to my niece until October 29, 2019. Just 29 days after having the appliance installed my niece was cooking Thanksgiving dinner on November 28, 2019 at 350 degrees when she heard a loud crash from the kitchen. She ran in the kitchen to discover that the inner oven door glass had shattered all over the inside of the range peppering Thanksgiving dinner with shards of hot glass. Her Thanksgiving dinner was completely ruined and the only thing she had to be thankful about was that her two year old son was nowhere near the shards of hot glass when the oven door glass shattered. After further research the day after Thanksgiving we learned that Sears has had this issue with Kenmore ranges ever since 2011 and numerous injuries have resulted over the past 8 years. Despite countless complaints to the CPSC Sears has chosen not to issue a recall nor take the affected model off the market. My wife and I attempted, on November 29, 2019, over the phone with the third party in India Sears has outsourced customer to, to acquire a refund for the obviously defective product but the only response we received was a technician would come out to verify that the glass had actually shattered. As a last resort to get some sort of satisfaction, my wife and I returned to the Sears store on Black Friday November 29, 2109 where we purchased the defective product and forced the store manager to pick up the defective range and refund our money. The Kenmore Gas Range Model 790 is a dangerous product that will soon severely injure someone. Sears is negligent and has with full knowledge continued to sell a dangerous and defective product and all the while focused on profit rather than safety. Please help save the public from this corporate greed.
Installers messed up cabinetry, didnt fix. Temp on oven wrong all the time. I had to build a 2 by 18 plug or it would have just been open to under my stairs.
I had baked 2 pies in the oven; 2 hours later, the bake switch gave a loud notice, similar to a shot and seemed to explode. It left a silver mark on the switch. The stove stopped working, including the stove top and oven. I am unable to cook or bake as a result. I will try to resolve this problem with Sears today, August 4, 2014. The stove was purchased 7 years ago.
I bought all 4 appliances at one time, Kenmore elite top of line bottom freezer/ref, dishwasher, microwave and electric stove. Ive owned them for at least 4 years and had problems with all of them. I paid top dollar for junk. What put me to post my displeasure was the refrigerator. About 1 month after warranty expired I began to receive Er 1F messages. I read on internet to pull the plug and it will resolve problems. I did it several times a year since then and problem would resolve and come back again. Now its becoming more frequent and water is now leaking from ice-maker. Going to change fan and motherboard to see if it solves the problem. Dishwasher also top of the line which I had to change major part that failed which caused major flood/water damage to house. Lucky that was still under warranty at the time. I would not recommend this product to anyone. Buyers beware. I signed up to a class action suit regarding refrigerator problems couple years back but did not hear back from group filing lawsuit. Sears and Kenmore should stop selling these inferior products with the elite tag. I had a GE appliances that lasted for 10 years or more which was much cheaper and more reliable than these terrible products. No wonder they were pushing me to purchase extended warranty cause there was known problems with these awful appliances.
Kenmore 790944464702 range was replaced under warranty once. Call in multiple times after with electric burning smell when using oven. Flashing stove top light. Repair could not fix and went out of warranty. Finally the circuit board burnt up. Wires melted to board. Was required to order a new boarded for $200 and wire harness for $200. Lucky it didnt burn down the house. Junk it and DO NOT BUY SEARS! Model kenmore 790944464702. JUNK.
Door storage was fantastic. Ice maker did not take up a significant amount of door space. Being able to alter the configuration of shelving was a nice feature as well. However, will never buy a side-by-side refrigerator again due to lack of freezer space. We have chosen to move to another model but did not purchase a Kenmore in the last purchase. Cost of the refrigerator and the competition of other refrigerators examined was well within our range. We also chose this refrigerator because it was our first personal refrigerator purchase and seemed to be a great purchase.
We bought the Kenmore elite refrig. and electric cook stove. Both a piece of junk. Have had 3 yrs now and nothing but trouble... Refrig, compressor, blowers and other things have went out. The cook stove the panels kept going out, which we have gotten rid of and went back to our gas stove. The refrig. has another problem. It is showing the error F1. They will be out tomorrow to check it and it has only been about 3 months since the compressor and blowers were fixed... We are also having problem with the bottom freezer compartment. It keeps coming off its track... I recommend not spending your hard earned money on these two products... They are junk.
This is third Kenmore oven electric s/c. First one went into self-clean on its own, nearly burned the house down and completely charred the whole oven. Second one had two major board failures, resulting in the third. This one may or may not respond to control inputs. No more Sears stuff, ever.
I purchased a Sears (Kenmore) Electric Convection Range Model 790 9746. I was told that it was top of line quality, Sears dependable and would last many years. My parents had had good experience with Kenmore products so I believed what I was told. What a mistake! I have nothing but continuing problems with the Sears Electric Range. The electronic oven control motherboard has had to be replaced three (3) times because it keeps malfunctioning. I was told by the last repairman that it was because a design defect in the range caused the motherboard to overheat & fail. I called Sears and they just blew me off. I am going to try one more time before hiring a lawyer. It is sad to see how far Sears has fallen. At one time, it was #1 in quality and customer service. Its quality has deteriorated badly. Its customer service is essentially non-existent. Its lack of customer service will cause it to lose more and more customers like me. I didnt mind paying a lot of money but it was fair to expect a quality product and prompt customer service for any problems. Instead, I got a lemon which I am told has a product design and Sears seems to care less. Whatever the cause may be, I am sick and tired of paying to have motherboards replaced. All I wanted was a dependable electric range. So, buyer beware!!!
My fiancee whose name the appliance is listed under {Diane ** they assumed I was Mr. **} purchased a Sears Kenmore elite gas range model 79075343310 in October 2013. It has been used roughly a dozen times if that. Well on 1/26/15 we had made a pizza and were enjoying it when we heard a large pop. Upon investigation we discovered that the inner door glass had exploded and shattered. It was contained inside by the front and back panels. I figured because the warranty was only expired by three months that Sears would foot the bill for repairs. Not so! Their argument was warranty had expired. Okay understand that but when the hell have you ever heard of oven door glass exploding simply by using the oven. Definitely one for Ralph Nader. Ridiculous. What if it had been the outer glass with a toddler or family pet walking by. Believe Sears like the rest of iconic American businesses continue to sell us down the river with inferior products.
Purchased about 13 years ago so I realize things can start going wrong. This was my first (and last) glass top range as I had always wanted one. The heating is not stable. Of course being electric, it does turn itself on and off but that just regulates the temp of the element not your pan. Hard to keep clean especially if you spill something that has sugar in it, like bbq sauce, and it burns on as you still have to cook and burner takes a while to cool. I grew up using gas stove/oven at home. Upon moving around, I have come to get used to electric and when glass tops came along, I really wanted one. I am over it now. Ready to get gas back.
Recently bought a house that is only 5 yrs old. Builder or previous owners equipped the home with all Kenmore appliances. In the 14 months since I have lived in this home, all of these appliances have either completely failed or are starting to. After only 6 yrs of use, these appliances are nothing but trouble. These machines are obviously well beyond their warranty terms so I have absolutely no recourse to have them repaired and even if I did, there is no chance that I would. It is quite clear to me that if you wish to purchase appliances for your home that you expect to last, DO NOT BUY KENMORE!!! The microwave is completely nonfunctional, the range has started to fail, the dishwasher never worked well, the clothes washer leaks and has been replaced and the clothes dryer has begun to fail. I WILL NEVER BUY A KENMORE APPLIANCE AS LONG AS I LIVE!!!
This is the 3rd time I had sears out to fix stove. 1st glass blew out (scratched the whole inside 2nd circuit board/ and now again the circuit board. When you use self cleaning more than 3 times blows board. All in all I have been without the use of my stove about eight weeks. When you call for service and you give them error code. They come out (waiting a week or longer) without parts and you have to wait another 2 weeks for them to fix. Just wish they would credit me and let me buy another brand. This stove is only 1 year old. Very unhappy.
Kenmore Elite 75339 - After about 3 weeks of using this range we realized that it was leaking gas. Had a service consultant from the gas company come out to sniff for leaks and he informed us it was leaking from the regulator and 2 of the burners. He told us this was the 4th or 5th Oven he had seen leaking like ours. We called Sears to have the oven exchanged and they setup another delivery for a few days later. After waiting about an hour or so after their so called scheduled delivery was suppose to be I called to find out where they were. The delivery consultant informed us that the new oven they were suppose to deliver was also damaged and that they needed to reschedule another delivery. Sears couldnt even be bothered to call and let us know. At this point we are just trying to get a refund. Enough is enough. Trying to navigate Sears customer service seems to be a battle all on its own. Its no wonder with customer service this terrible why the company is such a bad financial situation. Save yourself A LOT of hassle and buy something other than this range and save yourself even more hassle by shopping somewhere other than Sears.
We bought a brand new Kenmore Elite Fridge with double french doors, top of the line a little over 3 years ago. Just after 3 years and the warranty ran out, so did the compressor. We also had bought a Kenmore oven, where the glass broke right before the warranty ran out. It really seems Kenmore is into planned obsolescence, and not making stuff to last anymore. Repair guy says parts and fix wont be in for 2 weeks. The experience has been bad considering you have to keep things on ice, and the slow repair turnaround. Id keep shopping and make sure you pick a brand that is more reliable.
My oven and stove top are great. I never had a problem. True to temperature. Cooks evenly. No issues at all. I would highly recommend this product. I would buy it again in a heartbeat. You wont be disappointed if you purchase this range.
I own a Kenmore Elite Model #980.9802. It will be 5 years old in August 2014. I paid about $1800.00 for it. In the last few months, my lower oven racks will not stay in place. It seems that either they are smaller or the oven is bigger. I have learned that to repair this problem I need a new oven liner. I have read that this is no small job and that it needs to be repaired by a repairman. We are talking somewhere between $400 and up to fix this. It sounds like a defect. I dont think 4 years later that I should be facing a bill that large to repair my range.
I purchased a Kenmore Elite ceramic counter top stove in 2008, model 970-698432. It has an extended warranty until 2013. When we first received the stove, one of the elements would not turn off. I had to flip the switch on the breaker to turn off the stove. It took 2 weeks to fix because no parts were available. The tech had to remove the necessary parts from the display model in the store. On August 26, my wife placed a pot of water on the stove to boil. A few minutes later, she heard a loud cracking noise. When she went to the stove, she noticed a large crack in the counter top. We called Sears call center and made an appointment for repairs to be made. Without going into great detail, the repair date was set back 5 times. They finally informed us that the part was not due until October 26. The part arrived earlier than expected and the repairs were done on October 18. When the tech inspected the top, he informed me that the crack was not a thermal break but rather an impact break, meaning something was dropped on the stove. I told him that nothing was ever dropped on it, and that there are no signs of an impact on the top. He showed me some spider lines from the bottom of the top. And he told me that the damage may not have happened when the top cracked, that some time before someone dropped something on the top and weakened it to eventually crack. He gave an example that if he dropped his penlight flashlight on the top in the right way on the right spot, it could weaken the top, and eventually lead to its cracking. If thats the case perhaps the top was defective. After all, they are supposed to withstand some force. Now, I am not a tech. But my experience has always been that if you drop an item on glass enough to cause damage, it will leave some kind of a mark, whether its an impact mark, a chip, or crack on the surface, not on the other side. I have called Sears home services and asked to have a senior tech come out and re-evaluate the top. Its no doubt that he will re-affirm the other techs decision. I dont have my hopes up. The cost of the top was $392.00 which I had to pay. So much for extended warranties.
I have had this refrigerator for several years and I have never had a problems with it. The seals are extremely tight and the insulation is great as I never have to turn it up very high. I have a family of 6 and there is plenty of room for storage. I do have extra drawers that I put on the shelves because with 4 teenagers it makes no difference how big your fridge is, there is never enough room. Mine is the color bisque, it matches my stove and my washer and dryer. I prefer this as it does not show prints and spots as easy as as white one does. Mine has a left opening as that is the way my kitchen is designed. I bought it on sale and it was extremely well priced. I would have bought it whether it was on sale or not as it was the only one I could find that completely met all of the things I wanted.
We splurged and purchased the Kenmore Elite Double Oven Model #79098023800 in 2009. It has worked fine and I have done self-cleaning on it several times over the past 3 1/2 years. However, since the last cleaning, the oven racks dont fit anymore and fall out of their grooves and this causes me great concern. I first thought it might be the racks that were the problem. I have an extra rack that came with the oven which I have not used in it since we bought it. When I tried that one, it too was too small and didnt sit safely within the grooves of the oven walls. I measured and compared it to the other rack and they were the same. Once I looked online, it appears that Im not the only one with this issue and it seems the oven walls have bowed out slightly and have created this problem. Having contacted Sears, they said they can send a tech out (at the cost of $75) to evaluate what my problem is and if and how it could be fixed. She said their system doesnt show that there is such a problem with their oven (or at least my model) and that quite often people blog about it but dont officially complain to the right department so they dont recognize the issue/hazard/problem. This is very concerning. I have three children in the house. I love to cook and bake, and Im now worried about the safety of my family and home. I have lived in a lot of houses over the past 30 years and have cooked/baked on up-teen amounts of ovens. Never and I mean never, have I seen this kind of problem. I find it hard to believe that Sears isnt aware that there is a manufacturing issue on some of their ovens! Shame, Sears, shame. You have officially lost a very dedicated consumer! And yes, Im going to complain to the right department. For anyone else who has this issue, please call Sears at 1 800 638 2772 and let them know so they cant claim that they have nothing in their systems regarding this issue!
About 4 years ago, my wife and I bought 6 new Kenmore products for our new home including a dishwasher, oven, microwave, refrigerator and a washer and dryer. All of these products have failed. The oven will no longer bake. The microwave when turned on has a lighting show in the side which I feel is very unsafe. The dishwasher coating has come off the racks and they are rusting badly. The dryer door will not latch because its broken and the start button has broken too. The washer leaks and keeps stopping in the middle of a cycle and flashing a code for some problem. And last but not the least, the fridges filter leaks. We have tried to contact Kenmore and no one will talk to us or help, and dealing with Sears is just a joke! My wife and I spent very good money on these products and dont feel we should have to replace them 4 years later or have to repair them. They are all Kenmore Elite products and for the money we spent, we think the company should stand behind their products and workmanship. Even a call back or just a response would be nice, but I guess this is a company where once they get your money theyre done with you. If theres any way someone could help us, that would be great. We just want to be able to cook and do laundry again like people with working appliances do. Thank you for your time.
I selected the Kenmore Electric Double Wall, Built In Oven 30, Model 790 48772901, October 2013, during the new construction of our retirement home. The oven was installed by a professional, licensed electrical contractor. My average usage of this oven was about one or two times a week; a little more frequently during the winter months. At about nine months old, the blower motor began making noises. My husband, a retired HVACR business owner, took apart the oven and found that the motor bearings were seizing up on the cooling/ventilating motor due to cheap manufacturing, not enough applied bearing oil, and poor design - the cooling/ventilating motor sits on top of the oven; consequently, absorbing a tremendous amount of heat. My husband was able to apply a large bath of (top of the line) bearing oil to keep it from seizing and we managed to limp along for about a year with this garbage cooling/ventilating motor.I went to the Kenmore parts site today to order a replacement. I was astounded to find that the website couldnt find the model number of my two year old oven! After several attempts, I gave up and went to another site (non Sears) that provides parts for multi brand appliances. Not only were they able to cross reference the part number for the cooling/ventilating motor, it was in stock and available for shipment immediately. Of course, the out of pocket cost was over $60.00 for a motor that, in the commercial refrigeration trade, would cost one about $20.00. I shudder to think of what Sears would have charged for the part! Not to mention the service call fee.I went through each page of the accompanying owners manual and schematics and found nothing with regard to a cooling/ventilating motor part number. The only information shown was the error codes. Of course, if the error code ** flashed on the oven screen, the consumer was advised by Sears to call their service department. Imagine that! These people dont want Harry Homeowner to repair their Kenmore items! Its just another way to ** money from the American purchaser. Once again, the average consumer is being subjected to cheap manufacturing, out of pocket expenses to repair a new item, and the inconvenience of making the repairs. Those without the know how to make their own repairs are forced to call Sears or another repair service and pay dearly.I am very angry with the retailers and manufacturing brokers in our country. We can no longer call them manufacturers because just about everything we purchase, was manufactured in a foreign country! I yearn for the appliances I had to leave in Baltimore. They were ten years old or older, but were manufactured so much better! I had no issues with my washer, dryer, dishwasher, refrigerator, ovens, freezers, or microwave. Most were GE, Kenmore or Whirlpool. Once upon a time, the manufacturing industries in this country took pride in what they made, how it was made, and how long it would stand the test of time. Today, the average consumer is subjected to planned obsolescence and the lifespans of our purchased products are becoming shorter and shorter.
The dishwasher does extremely well even on burnt on food. Removes grease with ease and rinses cleanly. It is so easy to operate that even my 10 year old uses it. Being the parent of two children and having a busy life the capacity of the dishwasher is very important. It hold all of our daily dishes and glasses in one wash cycle. The easy clean exterior of the dishwasher is very nice. The controls are not overly obvious and the appliance is eye catching. The interior shelves are nicely arranged and look good. The overall price of this dishwasher is very comparable to many others on the market, but unlike the others this product works very well. We have had no issues with this model.
Ive had this refrigerator for just over a year and the motor in the defrost went out, ice maker was not working correctly. Had to have Sears in 4 times to get it fixed. Once to diagnose the defrost motor not working. Second to put in the defrost motor and put in a rebuilt ice maker which did not work. The last time the tech put in a new ice maker and it is finally working fine. This refrigerator was manufactured by Frigidaire which is usually a very reliable brand. They are make appliances to be throw away just like other products. Sears service can be a problem getting someone in to service appliances. I finally had a couple of good tech who took care of refrigerator, dishwasher and stove. I will never buy another Sears product again.
I purchased a Kenmore Power Miser 12 Model #153.331414HA water heater six years ago. The heater was rated as a 15 year heater. In the last six years, I have replaced the pilot light assembly three times and cleaned it countless others and for the last year I have had to manually light the pilot everyday in order to get hot water. I order a replacement pilot assembly and installed it. The replacement unit failed after two days. It was obvious to even me who is not a mechanical whiz that the thermocoupler on the pilot unit was not shielded from the open burner flames thus causing it to overheat and shut off. At the same time I purchased a gas range. The ignitors for the stove top have not worked properly since about one year after purchase. Only one burner will ignite and you have to manually light the others to cook. Also for the last two years, the oven will not heat to the proper temperature (i.e., about 200 degrees lower than the setting on the control unit). I too have experienced poor customer service from SEARS including having to pay $75 dollars for warranty repairs, customer support staff obviously located in Mumbai, India not being able to answer questions about parts or service, delays in scheduling repair times, and my wife was put on hold off and on for over four hours trying to get her questions answered and to get a repair time scheduled even though she asked repeatedly to be transferred to a supervisor. The supervisor was no greater help than the customer service representative. I have since bought a competitors brand of hot water heater because it is made in American and their customer support staff are located in the United States. I also filed a complaint with the Chicago Office of the Better Business Bureau about these appliances. SEARS has responded that their records only show one service call to them and I informed them that their records are inaccurate because there were two repair calls for the same issue. SEARS has informed the BBB that they will not reimburse me for the cost of the hot water heater or even for the cost of the replacement pilot light unit I recently purchased which failed nor have they addressed the issue with the gas range. I have asked the BBB to inquire as to how many service calls SEARS has received nationally regarding replacement of the pilot light unit on this model of hot water heater and the number or percentage of these calls which were repeat service calls to replace the pilot light unit. I also asked why I cannot be reimbursed for replacement pilot light unit I just recently purchased that failed since there should be some limited warranty of 30 or 60 days on even parts. We will see how they respond. If anyone else out there has had similar issues with either this model hot water heater or with their gas range I would like to know.
My Kenmore dishwasher came with the house I bought and I was pleased with it so I did not replace it. It is and always has been a reliable brand that has proven to always outlast other so called reliable brand and has always been sold at a reasonable price. Having it is convenient. I can use it for storage and it doesnt use an excessive amount of water and it isnt excessively noisy when operating so I can enjoy TV while it works for me and I can be relaxed at the end of the day. Have no problems with it, but I would like it to use less water and electricity because both are an expensive item where I live.
This is the second electric oven I purchase from Kenmore. The first broke in 2 yrs... The second a yr.. I spend so much money... Still dont have a working stove.. its GARBAGE!!.. The same with 2 washer machine.. GARBAGE!!!!
Bought electric stove in Jan 2011. On Christmas Eve this year, I preheated oven and smelled weird electric or plastic burning smell. Wasnt sure what smell was from, put muffins in to bake. Oven cooked way too hot and burnt muffins in 10 minutes. Turned oven off and sparks, smoke and black ash poured out of top. Called Sears to see what they would do about my stove starting on fire. They were rude and wouldnt do anything other than offer over priced technician that I would have to pay for.Clearly, the oven sparking and smoking was caused by a defect in their product. Afraid for my safety, I unplugged stove until I could hire my own repairman to come and diagnose stove. I would not trust Sears technician anymore than Kenmore product and was not about to pay more money to such a worthless company. Last time I checked, a stove is a purchase that should last longer than two or three years. $260 repair, had to replace control board. I will never purchase another Sears or Kenmore product. Buyer beware!! If you purchase a defective product from this company, you are on your own.
I purchased a Kenmore induction range approximately 5 years ago. The oven racks no longer fit, they fall down and create a very dangerous problem. Sears has told me in order to fix the problem I need to change the entire oven box. Needless to say it might happen again since it seems the box expands with use.
This isnt dissatisfaction... its a HAZARD. Broiler feed tube in back of oven has a hole which guessing formed when a piece of something landed on and reacted with aluminum. Turned broiler on... feed tube emitted gas through tube... broiler lit and whoosh large flame a good foot high and six inches wide emerged from back of oven... luckily I was standing right there. Turned burner and oven off. Flame went out in about 5 seconds... enough to scare the ** out of me! My range is a good 10 years in service... not a problem to be found until this. My opinion... a bulletin should be sent to all owners to check the broiler feed tube!!! Holy Guacamole if I wasnt there, the whole house couldve gone up in propane flames. Btw to the editor, yes Im sure GE does manufacture in the US but they do in Mexico, also... see tag.
This Kenmore oven is great! Its big and had room for multiple food items to bake, broil and warm up. I love the timer that is on it, very helpful. The touch screen is above and out of reach of small children, so they cant accidentally start the oven. Also the knobs to turn on the flame, you have to push then turn to light the flame, which is harder for a child to do. I have had this stove for over 5 years, never a problem with it. Very easy to clean as well. Great stove/oven overall.. I have the black one too, matches my kitchen, lol. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great stove..
My Kenmore Self Cleaning Oven is just over 30 days old and recently used the self cleaning option. I used the 2 hour option since it was a minor splatter on the oven floor. After the cool down and the door released, I noticed two burn marks on the top of the oven door. I did everything the manual instructed including removing the grates, racks and wiping all services before starting the process. I called Sears and they said it was a cosmetic issue and is not covered under the warranty. I think its a door gasket problem, but they said no. I told the service dept I was very dissatisfied that they would not stand behind their product. All he said was Sorry.
The two-year old Kenmore stainless steel gas range I bought in November of 2010 was in the house. On August 7th 2011, I had opened the oven door and brushed against the corner edge and received a bad cut. It took 20 stitches to close it up. Has this happened to anyone before?
We have always bought Kenmore appliances and have had great service from Sears. We have Kenmore washer, dryer, dishwasher, stove and fridge and freezer. We have been married for 50 years and always had Kenmore appliances. I would highly recommend them. It is too bad that they have closed down all the stores in Canada.
Flimsy electronics on 7131 gas range - You know its bad when you have to glue your range together with epoxy to cook! I used my range about 5 times over the span of 2 years in my farmhouse when the electronics module broke off and fell back into the range. When I opened the back up, I found that the control panel was installed with 4 tiny plastic ears that were way too fragile to use in a kitchen appliance. Since my warranty had expired, I just glued some bent aluminum to the sides of the control electronics and put it back in. It works, but in all my days as an electrical engineer, I have never seen something so flimsy that is supposed to work for the life of a product. Someone needs to know this.
Purchased range oven from Sears a Kenmore. Do not buy - it basically exploded, made a big popping noise and they refused to warranty it. The women on the phone was rude and refused to let me speak to a supervisor. No wonder they are closing Sears stores. Their products have really gone downhill. I am so disappointed. I have always purchased my appliances at Sears. Will never do that again.
My 1.8 year old water heater started producing water that is too hot. So, I turned the thermostat setting to Low. Still getting temps of as high as 147 - 157 F. Concerned that grandkids may get burned. If I adjust the setting even a little bit below Low, the temp drops to 92F. Note: Owners manual says Low setting should produce 110F water. Factoring in the possibility of short repeated heating cycles causing expected readings of 20F higher, it is still producing water 10-17F higher than expected with no ability to lower the temp without dropping too much (92F).2May17 - Sears Technician diagnosed and ordered gas control valve (thermostat). 10May17 - Sears Technician installed new valve. Would not start. He conferred with Sears and AO Smith tech support staff. They determined that the valve must be defective. Ordered new valve. Next morning I (the customer) tried heater once again. It worked fine, but produced same hot temps as before.15May17 - Sears technician returned. I shared my temp readings with him. He contacted Sears & AO Smith tech support. They concluded that gas valve was working properly. They rationalized that the problem was related to stacking (short heat cycles). I pointed out that even if we allow an additional 20F for that, it is 10-15F too high with no ability to lower the temperature to a proper range. They suggested installing a mixing valve and checking single handed faucets to see of having any cross-over issues (i.e. turn on cold but still pulling hot water). Closed call but told technician intended to register a product complaint with Sears/AO Smith but I was very satisfied with his service/help. Total labor cost for Service Call: $209. Original cost of heater install $1215.
I bought an electric slide in oven a few years ago, and ever since, the oven temperature does not run true. I had to purchase several oven thermometers to see what the correct temperature was. The MAIN issue that really scares me is the self-cleaning button is too easily activated and locks the oven door. It gets extremely hot and is extremely hard to shut it off. One time, we had to call a neighbor to help us pull the unit out to shut it off. I hate that the digital buttons are located in front so when I wipe anything down to clean it, it activates ALL of the features and I have to constantly push the stop button to cancel out the functions. The clock quit working also. I will never buy another Kenmore product after my experience with this oven.
I had a Kenmore Range MOD# 790.9611. It turned on while my child and I were not home and burned our apartment down to the stud, leaving us homeless and with absolutely nothing. Everything we had is gone and Kenmore doesnt want to take responsibility for their product. Mind you I have not used the stove in several months because we do not eat at home during the summer.
Purchased a Sear Roto Swirl Water Heater (model 409.7341820) May 2012 for $494.00 with a 9 year warranty. It stopped producing hot water today, 2.5 years old, and when I called the 1-800 warranty number they said We do not provide any troubleshooting advice for this product. They offered to have the service distribution office call me within 3 business days (its Saturday so 5 days) to arrange a service technician to visit in the coming weeks. After stating that was unacceptable the service person had no response. Very disappointed at paying a high price to Sears who we have faithfully purchased all of our large appliances from over the past 40 years... not any longer, goodbye Sears!
I have had numerous dryers with parts going out all the time. Once I had a Kenmore I never had to worry about my dryer and I had a six person household. My Kenmore is the best dryer that I have ever owned. I had a household consisting of six adults. Of the six three were female who in my opinion never gave my Kenmore dryer a break. Now through thousands of cycles it is still dependable. Drying time is not long either. Simple. Very basic design but very durable. The controls are not hard to understand and I still love front load dryers. Worth its weight in gold. Its a very affordable dryer and I was actually shocked that a dryer in this price range works as hard as mine works. Easily worth much more.
The refrigerator was well-built, simple and before we had to replace it, it lasted quite a while to what I imagined the normal life of a refrigerator should be especially with so many people in and out constantly for food or ice. Towards the end it didnt stay as cold, especially not when actually filled. Had to rearrange the refrigerator periodically, but overall very roomy. Held enough to readily feed 5 people daily, 2 of which usually had to have their own meals. The refrigerator has no fancy gadgets but easy to clean.
This dishwasher is very thorough and cleans so quietly I cant even hear it in the other room! A quick rinse is all I need before my Kenmore takes care of all the rest. Energy efficient and leaves my dishes sparkling clean! At 24 my dishwasher is compact enough that it leaves plenty of space for cupboards beneath the counter! Bowls, large plates, dishes and even space for all sorts of other sizes and even challenging sizes to boot! My Kenmore has a sleek and basic design that looks casual and classic without all of those buttons or knows. Plus, its easy to clean and comes in different styles; I like the simplicity of my white design! For overall value and the best price range for your budget, you truly do get the best bang for your buck with your new Kenmore washer.
Love my Kenmore gas range w/ convection oven. It has five burners and the one in the center I can use with a flat grill pan. I bake a lot and the oven works and holds the temp great. The oven has a self-clean cycle that works great.
Ive had this range for 6-7 years now. The motherboard was replaced 8 times in 4 years (fading, blinking, etc) and yet Sears would NOT replace it, they did extend my warranty one time, but its the absolute worst. If this range (Gas, Elite, Model 790) is not a lemon, I dont know what is. The repair guy (Mikey, on a first name basis because he was here so much) came to replace it one time and the one he brought, brand new, didnt work. I would never purchase another Sears product. Kenmore used to the Gold Standard and Sears used to be the King of customer service, no longer.
I have had for nine years with no issues. All units works and oven is a great self-cleaning one. It is way to clean the top. Everything works the way it should. My only issue is I hate the stains inside the oven door window you cannot get to.
Kenmore Oasis Elite washing machine - F1 error message led me to do research online. After phone calls to Sears, I had to do my own homework. Found that there was a recall notification for serial# in range of CT01 thru CT49 which mine is. Model is 110 27092600. After many phone calls etc they said yes it is recalled due to the common F1 error message but that I have to pay for the repairs... WHAT!? Their product fails and so many of these washing machines failed that they had to do a recall but we the consumers have to pay for it? Never ever will I shop with Sears nor will I buy a Kenmore product even though I am in need of a new dryer, microwave/wall oven combo, and dishwasher.... oh and now a new washing machine or repair!
I purchased a Kenmore range on June 15, 2012. A small amount of tomato sauce dripped into the space between the two pieces of glass on the door. I called Sears repair and they do not cover that in the warranty. It will cost me around $150 to have it fixed. I feel that this is a flaw in the design of the oven. I have cooked for 50 years and never ever had this problem. I realize there needs to be a vent to allow hot air to escape. How are they designing the ranges differently now than decades ago? I will have to look at the smeared glass for the next 10 years.
I own a 2005 Kenmore Gas Range Oven (Model: 790.786.73400). In the middle of the night, I heard a number of pops, and I discovered that the outer glass door on my Kenmore range shattered and sent glass across the kitchen. Sears response after an hour and a half was that there is no recall, their customer affairs will not accept the call because the product is six years old, and the earliest they can send a technician is a week (at my expense).
3 days ago, March 29, 2013, I was using my range to cook bacon. I had it set at 375 degrees and had just checked the bacon and determined it had another 7-10 minutes to cook. I left the room for a few minutes, and after about 5 minutes, I could hear a beeping. My husband asked me if I wanted him to shut off the timer, but I said, I didnt set the timer. The stove kept beeping non-stop, so I returned directly to the kitchen only to see “F10 - ERR” on the touch screen. I opened the oven and smoke poured out. I quickly closed the door and my husband ran downstairs to shut the breaker because nothing I could do would stop the beeping. With the stove shut off at the breaker, I opened it and took out my burned bacon; and the room was filled with smoke. After doing some research online, it appears that the error means that the heat is considered to be runaway and at a dangerous level! Are you kidding me? I would like to know how long Sears has known about this issue, and why they have not informed people about this problem. What if I had a roast in the oven and had gone outdoors to do some work? This will be the 6th issue I have had with this range. So far, the brain was fixed once then replaced; the triple burner had to be replaced as did the whole glass top. The last item was the door as it warped and stained during a regular cleaning. I do not trust this range anymore and want it replaced. It is a lemon! It is unsafe and at this point, I am afraid to even turn the breaker on. Sears needs to step up to the plate and stand behind a very expensive range. This range broke down within 3 weeks of delivery to me and then again a few months later. It has been nothing but one thing after the other and I am done with allowing it to be repaired. It is a fire hazard! God forbid my new home would burn down due to Sears not replacing this lemon they have sold to me. It is time to replace it or give me my money back. I will never buy a Kenmore product again! Ever!
I was a little skeptical at first because of the model of the fridge. However as I later found out, the fridge fit more than I expected, worked better, and saved my family money. Its durable, long lasting, and has more than enough space to fit anything in your freezer, fridge or what have you. Its sleek, interesting and reminded me of a futuristic type of refrigerator which indicates to me that the future of fridges is bright. Though I thought this product would be way out of my price range but with the help of a salesman, this turned out to be an incredibly easy to pay for product. I would honestly recommend this fridge to anybody.
I never had to make a repair after 15 years. I was able to sell it to someone else when I bought my new one. I would highly recommend it to a friend. The freezer was often full and had to be rearranged. We needed more freezer space but the fridge was large enough to accommodate everything. It was a 18 cu ft off white fridge with the freezer on top. It opened on the right with the fridge and freezer separate. In the fifteen years the paint never chipped and there were no scratches. As I stated. I was able to sell it when I decided to buy a new one. It was still in good working order and when I did a good cleaning it looked very nice.
Refrigerator had enough room for our weekly groceries. The shelves can be moved easily to create the right size storage of larger items like milk and juice. The refrigerator was easy to clean, mainly just wipe clean. It operated efficiently and did not increase electric bill. Temperature stayed constant - did not have some food frozen in section that was not the freezer, as I have had with other refrigerators. The size of the refrigerator was efficient. Milk, Juice, and soft drinks all fit comfortably. In the doors there was enough room for all condiments and bottles of water. It was black, which is a color I like. Doesnt show fingerprints easy. It was easy to wipe clean. It fit in designated area for refrigerator and looked nice with other appliances. This refrigerator was a gift from parents to replace refrigerator that electrical surge ruined. The price was in range of what other similar refrigerators were priced. Delivery was free at store it was bought from. It was also installed free. It was a good price for the size and features.
Large oven, heavy iron burner grills, timer, electronic lighters. Like it all except the push button controls for the oven etc. were not very sturdy and the mounts broke and had to re-enforce and remount the panel from the inside. Only one problem... That of the control panel mounting weakness. Have had a great experience with all my Kenmore products and see no reason not to continue buying them in the future when needed. The products are solid and the prices are very reasonable for a great dependable product.
After the second self clean on our Kenmore convection oven that we paid 1799.00 21/2 years ago the paint under the top and the door is now rusted because the paint melted from the self cleaning. Also the button for the warming over turned brown. I will never buy a Kenmore oven again that was an expensive lesson.
Purchased the Kenmore Elite model when building a new home. This model was a great value with all the options wanted. It has proven extremely reliable and efficient.
We have had this oven for 5 years. In the 5 years that we have had it it has had a minimum of 2 repairs. I clean it with the automatic cleaner and something burns out in the oven. The last time I needed to wait several weeks for the part and make a second appointment for 2 servicemen to come out to pull the oven out of the wall. It is so obvious that there is a flaw with this oven. Again, I made the mistake of using the automatic oven cleaner and I am again without an oven!! It is so frustrating and Sears suggested that I google it. Not the kind of service I expect. I will never buy a Sears product again. Very disappointing.
I have to basically hand wash with soap and a scrub brush beforehand in order to have them come out clean. I am beginning to think of dishwashers as sanitizers rather than something that actually cleans the dishes. Its really quite frustrating. I can fit a lot in there, even though its pretty small. The only issue I have is that some cups dont fit in the top and pans have to be washed separately but thats pretty normal. Its nothing special really, just your typical dishwasher, but its a sleek black that fits nicely with my stove and oven. That being said, it isnt ugly either. As I said before, Im dissatisfied because I shouldnt be required to hand wash my dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. Its not only this one Ive had this problem with though, nor this brand.
Kenmore 790 electric range - I have seen many complaints online and on this site about the glass door of the oven door shattering. Mine did just that, last night when the oven was not in use. I have tried to make Sears aware of the problem. A technician is coming to repair it for an $89 dollar fee. I feel it should be recalled, but at least repaired for free.
Two Sears brand appliances, Kenmore, were in this house when I purchased it October 1, 2015. Both appeared fairly new and were installed during a kitchen remodel by the previous owner. Three months ago I trashed the microwave because it had so many issues. Now the stove Broil element comes on by itself and cannot be turned off at the stove console. The stove gives no indication that anything is turned on.My kitchen smoke alarm went off while I was in another part of my house alerting me that something is wrong. A glance at the stove, the only source of heat in the kitchen, and there was no indication that anything was on. A quick look in the oven and the broil element was glowing, the oven was very hot, thus the fumes escaping that set off the smoke detector. Nothing would turn it off. I turned off the breaker in the main panel and let the oven cool overnight. The next morning I turned the breaker back on and the oven came on with it, still not showing any indication of heat on the stove control panel.I Googled known defects with Kenmore stoves. Seems this is a known problem though Sears hasnt been very helpful getting it fixed. I havent reported my issue yet, not to Sears anyway. On Monday Ill be seeking legal advice about the possibility of a class action. In the mean time Ill contact Sears for a comment. This is a safety issue, my house could have caught fire while I was asleep or away and they knew the problem existed but did nothing.
I purchased my piece of junk Kenmore range Model 790.9745 in 11/09. I have had a reoccurring issue since the glass exploding and shattering for no apparent reason. The glass in the door has slipped on 3 separate occasions, requiring a service call and time waiting for repairs. On 12/13/2012, the glass was replaced after exploding. On 3/2/2013, the glass was replaced after having slipped, revealing the hardware which was holding it in place. On 6/8/2013, the glass was replaced once again due to slipping and revealing the hardware. Today, I have phoned customer service once again and have received no satisfaction from the numerous phone conversations. Each time the supervisor has been less than helpful in their ability to satisfy the customer. I would think that Sears would be a bit more concerned about rectifying this situation and stand behind what they sell and repair this problem. I will not buy another thing from Sears and I will be sure to share my poor experience with Everyone I know! I am disgusted!
I have had this stove for a long time and had no problems with it. It work great. I love it. I use it every day. It was a good buy from Sears. I would tell my friends to buy one. It come with a warranty when you buy it from sears. It is a good brand.
Kenmore Elite double wall oven is not safe. The top oven which I use frequently has oven racks that no longer fit. The interior wall has bowed due and the technician indicated that my oven is no longer safe to use. I will need to replace the wall which would cost me a little over $500 plus the $75 tech fee. Sears offered their warranty insurance and would cover up to $500 plus reimburse the $75 tech fee. But again, does this solve the problem? The self-cleaning will cause the walls to bow again and from what I see, there seems to have been flames that left burnt marks around the interior front vents. I am reporting my complaint to www.cpsc.org and to Sears as well. From this site, there are five reports, all a Kenmore model. I was told by a Sears consumer complaint officer that my model is made by LG and that I should call them because it is a manufacturing problem. Im not buying from Sears again.
August 2015, I purchased a Kenmore Elite Convection Oven MODEL #970C693832. Its a beautiful oven which came with a major problem. The red flag should have been noted when it was delivered, and the glass control panel fell off; this was before it was even brought into my kitchen. I asked them to return it, and we got a new one a week later. Three months in, the same thing happened again; the glass control panel fell off. I called Sears, and they sent a technician to fix it with a new control panel. The technician mentioned to me that the only thing holding the control panel is glue. When the oven is in use, every time I use my oven, the glue is melting away. Theres no frame to support it, when the glue melts off. How is this even safe? Last week, the same problem happened again, the glass control panel fell off. I called Sears again.Today, a technician from Sears came in to check it out and will be fixing it again with a new control panel. So until he comes back, and fixes it, I have to use tape to hold up the control panel in order to use the oven. Luckily, its still under the extended warranty, but I cant keep calling Sears to replace the control panel every time the glue melts. Instead of sending a technician to fix the same problem, Sears should replace this appliance because this problem will happen again, and they know it. This oven is not good, and I would never recommend it. Sears should do its part and make sure they are selling their customers good appliances that they can rely on. I am very disappointed with my appliance from Sears, and I wish Sears would make good appliances with top-of-the-line materials and parts. Sears needs to do a quality check assurance on their appliances before they go on the market. We as customers cannot afford to expend so much money on products that either dont last, or have problem with their parts.
I would like a little louder alarm, I would also like to have a plug in on the back panel. I also would like to make it easier to clean inside of the glass. Otherwise I really enjoy my electric stove. The last one I had lasted 24 years of hard use. Since I love to cook and bake.
Kenmore model # 79092803013 electric range oven started smelling plastic burn every time I turned on the oven. Well, I should have turned it off but I didnt. Thanks to God it didnt cause any major damages including fatalities. The baking and broiling elements stopped working and decided to open the back panel of the range. To my surprise the control board and the harness was burned and melted until changed to complete black. They should have recalled their products knowing their safety issues. The sad thing is all my appliances are Kenmore. I will never buy their products again. Be Aware!!!
Too many complaints over this issue of failing oven walls to support racks. We should join forces to be heard. My racks fall too oftentimes.
My Kenmore Self-Cleaning range is 5 years old, and about two years ago, I noticed the oven racks were falling out of the groves. The oven box seems to have bowed out and the racks fall out and do not fit anymore. I assumed Sears would take responsibility for this as this should never happen. When I brought the problem to them, they said I must buy new racks costing about $150.00 and that there was no recall on this problem. I think this is unfair and irresponsible on the part of Sears to not recall these ranges or at the very least, replace at no charge the racks.I have been a faithful Kenmore customer for over 30 years, but I will never buy another Kenmore appliance or any appliance from Sears again unless they do the right thing and correct this problem. Without proper fitting racks, the oven is virtually unusable, not to mention a safety hazard as hot items placed on the racks can cause injury when the racks fall out of the groves. I have been burnt more than once due to this. Shame on you Sears!
I purchased a Sears Kenmore elite glass top range in the December 2009. Just before Thanksgiving 2013 my mom had cook dinner using one of the burners on top. My sister and I were visiting with her and we left after she finished eating. She went to bed at that time and we left her alone in her house. About an hour later her dog woke her up and she realize that something was very wrong. She grabbed her dog and her cell phone and went outside. She called 911 and the fire department and the paramedics came. Her home was filled with carbon monoxide and the dog actually saved her life by waking her up.Even though my sister had checked the stove after she cooked dinner for my mother, the oven had turned on by itself while she was asleep. The Oven had not been used more than two or three times and almost 4 years of ownership. My mother was in the hospital for almost 3 days on oxygen to clear the carbon monoxide from her blood. If it had not been for her dog we would have been planning a funeral rather than Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. The oven is now with my insurance company at a laboratory for examination. I have read many, many stories about these ovens and stoves turning on and off the burners and ovens of at will. There was a recall in 2009 of 200,000 units. They must be waiting until the press or the liability is enough to do another recall. I put Kenmore appliances throughout the residence and I am very sorry for that now.
Stops working if we shut off the oven and restart it, to adjust temp or if we need to put something back in because it was not done as we thought, only way to fix it is to pull the heavy oven away from the wall to get to the plug, unplug it, plug it back in, which is a disaster as its too heavy for me!
Kenmore Range Model 790.94452701 - The control board burned up 3 times in 7 years. We were afraid to leave the oven on and go outside for fear of the house burning down. Two times when it burned up it caused the oven to heat well over 500 degrees. Each time it burned up there were burnt wires and smoke. Replacing the board is easy, but not cheap and very inconvenient. We decided to purchase a new range rather than fix our Kenmore for the fourth time. Suffice to say it isnt a Kenmore.
This fridge lasted almost 3 years before I moved and left it at my old home. It worked very well and the ice machine was fantastic. The produce stayed very fresh also. Very small freezer. Too small to do big shopping trips at one time. Always had to rearrange and stuff things in. The produce drawers are small too. Stainless steel was beautiful. The shininess always showed. The machines were elegant. The inside was refined and modern. It was very nice looking in general. The value was just fine. The price was just right for a machine that lasted for so long and never had an mechanical issues. The value was very balanced.
I purchased my Kenmore refrigerator from my local Sears appliance sale. I was able to bundle a warranty package and included annual maintenance inspections to make my purchase worry free. The 25 cubic foot size of the refrigerator gave plenty of room. Also, the water and ice dispenser was a great addition to the fridge. Moreover, the stainless steel finish went well with the range and dishwasher in the kitchen which were all Kenmore and look fantastic. Their appliances are reliable and a good value.
I own a Kenmore Range Model # 790.97453804. Its about 5 years old. Last night just after dinner the glass on the front of the door exploded! Shattering into pieces all over our kitchen for no apparent reason. I contacted two numbers, one for Sears, and one for Kenmore. Neither customer service person would do anything to listen to my problem or what happened. Like little programmed robots they repeated over and over it is out of warranty and they will send a technician out to assess what needs to be fixed at which time I can pay them for the repairs plus labor or pay for the service call. I decided to go online and order the parts myself. During the course of conversation with the repair specialist I find out: 1) This is a known issue. 2) The stove was manufactured by Frigidaire. 3) Its an issue with insulation in the door frame (part #7 on the diagram of the door). 4) The manufacturer recommends you replace it every 18 months. To which I responded, and how are we supposed to know that? Technician responded I am the parts specialist and we have the resources from the manufacturer. Its extremely sad that something as dangerous as this can continue and nobody is doing anything about the defective product.
I have all Kenmore appliances. Never had a problem with any of them. I have the washer, dryer, stove, refrigerator. Didnt buy the warranties on them because knew I wouldnt need them. Know a lot of people that own Kenmore - never heard of any problems.
Motherboard causes oven to overheat to the point it could cause a fire.
In Dec 2009 I redid my kitchen and installed a new, black, ceramic top Kenmore kitchen stove. The finish on the back of the stovetop is failing and the paint is peeling off. I have never used harsh cleaners to clean this - always use dishwashing liquid and yet the enamel is all peeling off and the metal is showing through. Has anyone else had this issue? The warranty on this is only one year - really? For a $699.99 appliance?
I have an electric range from Kenmore. This stove/oven does a wonderful job with its cooking temps. Some electric stoves overheat and does not cook properly but Ive never had that issue with my Kenmore. I trust my stove to cook at the proper temps that I put it on. I really have no complaints as far as I can think of and Im happy with my ownership of Kenmore products.
Kenmore Electric Range Model 790.9742 - Purchased in April 2010. The racks are no longer and it collapsed during the cooking process due to the oven liner warping and bowing out. Repairman says it is unrepairable and there are no racks available to fix this problem. Sears tells me this is an isolated problem and they have never heard of this problem before. Really?! Its all over the internet on not only Kenmore, but LG, Jenn-Air, Whirlpool, and other brands made for Sears. All Sears will do is give me a 20% discount off a new stove because I did not buy the extended warranty. I sincerely doubt the extended warranty would have covered an oven liner since it is not a replaceable part. It is part of the oven, according to the repairman. I was nearly burned when I pulled out a casserole to check on it. Dutch oven also fell after a few hours while it was cooking in the oven. Luckily, the door stayed closed and the Dutch oven fell straight down. It could have caused a major grease fire. Sears refuses to admit there is a problem with the steel used in the oven liner. Sears no longer stands behind their products. They say they are sorry. I am disappointed in the longevity of my stove. Well, yes, it is only 2 1/2 years old and this shouldnt be happening. It would have happened sooner had I used the self-cleaning oven feature which I have yet to do and it would have caused additional warping and bowing. I have an oven I paid $1000 for and is unusable because I, more than likely, will get burned or a fire will happen due to these racks no longer fitting.
Price could be better, the cleaning is easy and oven works great. Personally I have a Imperial Flair from the 60s and I love this one better. Should make a new one last longer. Color choices more would be better.
I have the same range and had burning wires, sparks and popping noises from control panel on range last week. Now is unplugged and useless because it is unsafe!!! I want it out of my home and Sears to replace it for FREE!!!! It is only 3 yrs old!!! LOTS of people having the same problem!!! Sears doing NOTHING!!! It is disgusting!!!! There is a lot more info out there.
This was a brand new unit in my brand new house. From day one I had problems with both the oven and microwave. First-after using the microwave for a couple weeks, I noticed the handle had become loose. No problem I thought, Ill just tighten the screws-nope. The screws are not accessible. They are hidden under the plastic frame and are not able to get to. I called Sears authorized service, they came out, and because of the poor design flaw, they had to replace the entire door=$500.00, which was covered. Now the oven, it never has heated properly and when I went to use it, it made a loud humming noise, then when I went to use the broiler, the cooling fan you could hear, was scraping against the sides of something inside. Once again, Sears service was called, came out, had to order a new fan/motor. To access the fan/motor, they had to pull the unit from the wall, and in doing so, tore my wall up a little bit. When they sat it on the floor to work on it, they didnt put anything under it and there were major dents in my new luxury vinyl flooring. They got it repaired, re-installed it and it worked fine until yesterday. The microwave door handle is loose again also. I called Sears service yesterday and explained to them its doing the exact same thing it was when they were here before. The representative informed me it would be a service charge of something like $250.00/hr. I couldnt believe it-I told him its doing the same thing it did before. Their response- their repairs only have a 90 day warranty. I told him I wasnt paying for what obviously is a poorly designed appliance. I informed him I would contact my attorney. Bottom line- every mechanical and electrical device will have its issues over time, to me, its about how the manufacturer stands behind their product. Will not buy a Sears product again.
Purchased a Kenmore Elite Refrigerator 2.5 years ago. 3 Months ago the Ice maker started dripping water and freezing up. Cost 270.00 for a repair person to come out and realign the water feed to the ice maker. Now the entire unit is not getting cold. $400 worth of parts and a bill to me for $367 plus $99 service fee. The Kenmore Elite Over the stove Microwave purchased a 14 months ago, fan was staying on. Service fee was going to be an additional $249 for the service technician to look at it while he was already at my home. The phone center where you had to call would not discuss any other options and even had the nerve to keep me on the line every time I called trying to sell me a home warranty on appliances that are less than 3 years old!!!Is that what we can expect from Kenmore? For their products to not even last a year after warranties run out? Based on the cost of the $500 a year warranty and $249 service call repair costs they must believe that their equipment will break down at least twice a year for the warranty to be effective or save the consumer money. I Think I will try another Brand.
Whenever I bake something in the oven about 1/2 hour into the cooking process, the screen lights up with F10 and the oven beeps. The only way to stop the beeping is to turn the oven off. When I turn it on again, it beeps 10 minutes later. It is impossible to cook anything, very frustrating and not normal. The stove is approximately 5 years old.
This is the worst stove I have ever had, the oven control panel went out one year and two weeks after purchase from Sears, replaced the oven panel cost over $100.00. One year later it has gone out again. BAD BAD STOVE... DO Not buy this stove.
First time buying a Kenmore and last time. Paid too much for what I thought was a quality range. Oven racks dont fit. The entire inside is bowed out so racks dont fit. This is so dangerous if the rack fell while removing hot food. Got online and cant believe Sears hasnt recalled these.
The price of the dishwasher was in the price range that fit my familys budget. It is nice to get what you are paying for and that your money is spent on a item/dishwasher that will make you say, Money was well spent. I enjoy the size, because it dont take up too much space in my kitchen. I hope that when I purchase a new one that the size will fit where we want lose counter space. My kitchen is not big, so I need the dishwasher to be a decent size that can get the job done.I would improve the function so that it is easy to use. I need a dishwasher that is easy to function, but have the power to do marvelous job of getting the dishes clean and spotless glassware. Durable and long-lasting is something that needs to be a plus, especially when this is a important piece in homes. I wish it can be controlled with a remote, so that if I forget to start it I can do it with the remote. Also, make the writings bigger, and the knobs are more easy to read as to where you can tell that you have it on the correct setting picked.
