Kenmore HE Washer Warranty Repair Disaster. Now entering the 4th month of this total **! 4 separate technician visits and the inability of the company to send proper parts (if they even exist) have made me no longer sorry to see Sears go the way of the dinosaur. The overseas call center has proven to be more frustration than help and all I can say is if this is the way of the future, we are all hosed. I currently have 3 tubs and other parts taking up space in my basement and garage and am no closer to a repair than when I called in April. I want this piece of crap out of my house along with the incorrect pile of parts they sent. No more SEARS for me.
Bought a Frigidaire appliance package for a new home build in 2008. 36 Cooktop, 30 Double wall oven, Dishwasher, and side by side Fridge. All in stainless steel. Had to replace the wall oven within 4 years, replaced dishwasher a year later. Cooktop is now on its second service for a product recall and will most likely be replaced very soon. Fridge quit making ice within 6 years. Replaced wall oven with Kenmore Pro (another Frigidaire/Electrolux product). It had to be serviced within a year and is crapping out again but is now out of warranty. Sure dont make stuff like they used to. Rest assured that my replacements will not have those names attached. >$10,000 in 10 years time on appliances is pretty ridiculous. I gave them 2 stars because they are helpful and nice when I call for recall service.
I turned my oven on to warm up leftovers. 20 minutes later, after I have taken the food out and turned the oven off, I smelled burning odor. My oven burners were red hot and I could not turn it off. My husband had to cut it off by throwing the breaker. Had I walked out after turning the oven off thinking it was off, my house would have burned down. This has happened so much. After reading all the incidents online, I’m afraid to buy another Kenmore. Several models are being recalled for some reason. Mine is not.
This washer is easy to operate and works good and works faster. After washing I am contented with how my laundry feels clean and water is not dripping because it is squeeze out good. I recommend this product, it is made in good quality and we have it for four years now but we never encountered any minor or major problem yet. The appearance of the washer is okay and slim. Very traditional and just fit right in our laundry room. Moreover it is nice and easy to clean. It is really a good value of money because it came from a trusted brand and they are known of producing of high-quality materials. It is proven and tested of our small family.
My Kenmore Elite outside oven glass door shattered while we were broiling something! Since we are out of warranty, they want $400 to replace it. From what Im reading on the internet, this seems to be a design flaw.
Kenmore Elite Double Oven Range 7909731 - I would rate this and Sears customer service at -0- stars if I could. Purchased this range in November 2016. I do a good bit of baking, so paid to upgrade to Kenmore Elite convection double oven. I have purchased Kenmore appliances for over 25 years with no issues. This will be the last one. Began having issues with the convection ovens fan not working or maintaining temperature in December. Raw AND burned cookies. First service call in January. I was told there was nothing wrong with the temperature after the tech shot his laser thermometer in there to check, says I have to wait 15 minutes after the oven SAYS its preheated to the set temperature and that I shouldnt put more than one thing in the oven... what? Thats why you pay more for convection! He replaced some screws that were sitting in the bottom and left. Whatever... tried baking muffins didnt rise, raw middles and burnt outsides. 2nd service call. The day tech was supposed to be there calls and says not coming, will order a new control panel and reschedule. After replacement, baking takes at least 20 minutes longer than recipe indicates, overbrowning outside. 3rd service call. This tech tells me the oven is 25 degrees over what it should be and recalibrated. Next baking attempt, the temperature decreases to 180. Ok, Im thinking maybe I hit something. Next day, baking again. Preheats to 350 and then starts beeping, flashing error codes FJ5. a locked and a 9 with ... Call Sears, tech scheduled for next day between 8 am and 5 pm, will call 30 minutes before arriving. Calls me in driveway and says he will not wait, will not come back and they are not allowed to call before the first call. Was on the phone at least 6 times with Sears customer service. When the tech comes back 5 DAYS LATER, hes never heard of the error codes and is ordering the same control panel that was replaced 6 months ago. This is ridiculous. I will never buy from Sears again. The lack of customer service is appalling.
I had baked 2 pies in the oven; 2 hours later, the bake switch gave a loud notice, similar to a shot and seemed to explode. It left a silver mark on the switch. The stove stopped working, including the stove top and oven. I am unable to cook or bake as a result. I will try to resolve this problem with Sears today, August 4, 2014. The stove was purchased 7 years ago.
I have purchased Kenmore appliances since 1962. Washer, Dryer, dishwasher, range, microwave and even an electric can opener. I have complained loudly and often about this washing machine. I have contacted the Sears store where I purchased a washer & dryer in August 2012. The design of this machine is unbelievable and I am far from satisfied. This machine requires that one put the clothes and detergent and/or bleach in with the clothes. The machine immediately locks and fills with about a quart of water. Meanwhile, the clothes are setting in strong soapy water or bleach for over a minute. Subsequently, it results in spotted and ruined clothing, towels, sheets, etc. In addition, you can only wash clothes in the delicate cycle, to prevent ripping and shredding of laundry. Once the cycle is finished, one must go to the rinse/spin cycle in order to add Downy. This wastes water. Finally, I was directed to Repair Service where the Rep told me that the cost of a one year warranty was $80.00. She said that I only had to pay her $49.99 at that time and to give a check to the repairman for the additional $30.01 on the day of service. I thought it odd that she would not allow me to pay the entire $80.00 while on the phone but went along with it anyway. I was in TOTAL SHOCK when the repairman told me that I had to write him a check for $80.00. I explained to him what the Warranty Rep had told me and he said that the Warranty was $49.99 per month with an $80.00 deductible each visit. Who in his or her right mind would pay $599.88 for a contract on a washing machine? One could purchase a top of the line washer for this amount.SEARS IS GOING OUT OF BUSINESS AS A RESULT OF POOR SALES (I WONDER WHY). Do not make any purchase from Sears because the motto on the doors of each store say, Satisfaction guaranteed or your money back is not worth the ink that it was stamped on with! Sears has promised to refund me $49.99+$80.00+$30.00 gift card. This paltry sum does not even begin to reimburse me for all of the discolors clothes, towels, blankets and all of the discolored clothes that have been ruined by this machine! My attorney (Consumer Affairs attorney) is filing a lawsuit in federal court. If anyone else wants to join in on this lawsuit, you may e-mail me! Do not waste your time trying to deal with corporate because they will do nothing to help you. I am 71 years old and was not told of the bad features on this machine.
Purchased the Kenmore pro microwave oven. Beautiful looking appliance for my new kitchen. I loved the features along with the over the stove lighting. It was the first microwave I owned that had useful lighting. I never had any problems with it. Then it happened--one year and 7 days later it stopped working. Out of warranty, out of luck.
Never had an issue. Freezer always stayed cold and the refrigerator worked perfectly. Ive had it for a long time and it works just as great as it did the day I got it. The only issues I had were with the freezer. It was hard to always fit several frozen pizzas and large tubs of ice cream. I just had to change my grocery shopping habits. It isnt the most glamorous. Its not ugly. It just looks dated when compared to stainless steel. It matched my kitchen at the time. It was on the lower end of the price range of refrigerators but it has lasted a long time without having repairs. It also doesnt use a ton of energy.
We've had our Kenmore range for 14 years and have never had a problem. Oven works great and temperature is true to the setting you select. Would definitely recommend Kenmore.
I purchase the Kenmore Elite double oven approx three years ago. It has been a disaster from the start! The issues was the rewiring needed for the product that I was not told about. This requires an electrician and an extra charge that is Kenmore specific. The first set of ovens did not work at all. After paying the additional cost for the change the ovens were installed and they did not work. The installer could do nothing and I had to call for a repair. I requested a new set of oven and after a week or two receive a new set. Within 6 month I noticed the doors on the ovens would not close properly and that the calibration was off. I requested another set again to no avail. To date I have had 2/3 additional service calls for the ovens for the same problem. I have requested a new set or satisfaction each time. The most recent repair was in July 2016. Now Nov 26, 2016 they are saying the problem is no longer under warranty for the repair or the extended warranty I purchased. The customer service center has had problems scheduling, sending two repair people or say there is no appointment and then a repairman shows up anyway. This happens even with confirmations and secondary verifications. There was a time when the Sears brand stood for quality, and great customer service. Those days are no more. I purchased a full suite of appliances for a gourmet kitchen with the Kenmore Elite Brand and the two most expensive items, the fridge and the double ovens have had significant problems and repairs. I have been loyal to Sears and so as my family making it a tradition for over 30 years of my adult life. My parent bought Sears as did my entire family but NO MORE! I will exhaust my points and the boycott will begin. We will NEVER purchase anything from Sears again nor will we recommend the store or their products.
I came home to find glass on my kitchen floor and in the dinning area next to the kitchen. Further investigation lead me to the Kenmore gas range oven door. I purchased the range january 2011. Glass was everywhere. No one else lives in my home. I very seldom use the oven. Nothing fell, nothing mysteriously hit the oven door. I called sears to no avail. I purchased a $275.00 moderated protection plan. If this has happened to anyone else please provide me with what you did to resolve the issue. Thanks.
Our Kenmore Elite Gas range Model 79036719500 worked fine until today. Without warning or any failure codes the touch control panel on the front seemingly has gone dead. There is power since the igniters on the top burners still spark and light. The front panel has no lights nor does it make any sounds typical of when you push buttons. The clock is out and none of the controls work.
I sent an e-mail a couple weeks ago with no response, so I contacted Kenmore yesterday regarding the self-cleaning of the gas range which left spots on the bottom of my oven. I did everything the manual stated to do and also took out the racks and self cleaned them myself. The representative on the phone told me to put a hot cloth with white vinegar over the area, and then I may have to rub the area, if that didnt work to take a razor blade and lightly go over area and the spots would be removed. After trying both methods neither worked. I phoned again and another representative told me she could have a tech come out the following day but it would cost me $75.00 or $39.00 a month to cover all appliances in the house. I told her absolutely not and informed her that I would not be purchasing anymore Kenmore products. Then out of curiosity I wondered how much the part would cost just to replace it and after researching on the internet the part was $60.00. So therefore I would have had a tech come out for $75.00 then probably charge me at least $100.00 for the part and to replace it, what a rip-off. Other customers please do research before falling for this scam.
I bought back in 2005 a refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher and oven from Sears. All Kenmore. Well lets see. The refrigerator starting rusting on the outside in about 5 yrs. then the microwave handle broke in about 6 yrs. and the dishwasher panel on the bottom all the paint flaked off and now the oven that I have hardly used has a hole in the inside of the oven... Its a flippin crack. Rust and more rust where the racks slide... I will never purchase anything from Sears again... This is junk...
Oven works well with excellent temperature control so whenever you set the temp to what is called for you get the proper result. The controls are easy to use, read, and operate. The oven timer is easy to set and use as well as the clock.
I purchased a bunch of Kenmore Elite kitchen appliances from Sears 3 years ago - a gas range, a dishwasher and an over range microwave and hood combination. The problem happened with the microwave. When opening the door of the microwave recently, a peace of plastic from the edge of it got broken all of a sudden and fell on the floor. It was definitely not caused by us, or our inaccurate using of that equipment. We are very neat people, do not use the microwave frequently, just a couple of times a week and always very accurately. The problem was definitely caused by a disguised damage that the door obviously had since the beginning. Our attempt to receive a reasonable service from Sears resulted in an estimate in the amount of almost $400.00 for replacing the door, while the total price of the entire new product when we purchased it 3 years ago was $499.99. We understand that our product is not covered with a warranty any more, but, assuming that the damage (a very unusual and caused definitely by a disguised problem), can the repair price provided to us be considered reasonable? Just after 3 years of a very gentle usage of said appliance? It is obviously that both the manufacturer and the Sears corporation are not interested for their products to last long so that the people have to buy new frequently, increasing their profits. We are extremely disappointed and advise people not to purchase any appliances from Sears and avoid purchasing Kenmore products at all. Kenmore does not have a direct customer service, all attempts to contact them are transferred to Sears, while Sears representatives refuse to provide any reasonable help telling us that the repair price depends only on manufacturer. Once again, its just 3 years of an extremely gentle, infrequent and neat usage of that microwave and weve done nothing for this to happen, however, now we have to make a choice between repairing it for almost the price of a new one or buy a new one. Our previous microwave served us almost two decades and we would still have it if not the kitchen remodeling - the reason we decided to buy a new one. We will never purchase any Kenmore product anymore, nor we will purchase it from Sears. People, be careful - Kenmore and Sears are not reliable!!!
We purchased our house from the original owner and have had nothing but problems with the oven racks. They never used the oven, so were unaware of the problem. It is Model # C 970-418232, Serial # NF70817966. We have had the racks fall in the middle of baking something NUMEROUS times, finally with one incidence causing a serious burn. This is unacceptable! I have read that others have had the same issues, but there have been no resolutions as of yet. It is not under warranty anymore, and I dont think that this should be called a warranty issue, but should be recalled due to the risk of VERY SERIOUS burns, items breaking when rack falls, etc!!! We should be able to SAFELY use ANY of our oven racks on ANY of the shelf levels! My mother has also been burned by our oven, and my children are forbidden to use it! Has ANYONE been compensated for this problem? Has Sears ever replaced any of the racks and given the owner the correct size? I look forward to hearing more about this from other owners, and would love to hear back from Sears! This is an EXTREMELY DANGEROUS problem that needs to be fixed!
Ive had this range for 6-7 years now. The motherboard was replaced 8 times in 4 years (fading, blinking, etc) and yet Sears would NOT replace it, they did extend my warranty one time, but its the absolute worst. If this range (Gas, Elite, Model 790) is not a lemon, I dont know what is. The repair guy (Mikey, on a first name basis because he was here so much) came to replace it one time and the one he brought, brand new, didnt work. I would never purchase another Sears product. Kenmore used to the Gold Standard and Sears used to be the King of customer service, no longer.
I purchased this Kenmore 94173 range online and so wish I did not. My old ovens control panel exploded and I decided to get a new oven versus repairing the old one. I do like the stove. My one issue is keeping the black glass top smudge/fingerprint free. The glass top is just about impossible to keep shiny. I have tried the recommended glass top cleaners by Kenmore and they have failed horribly. No matter which product I have tried, nothing so far has removed the smudges. Even though the glass top is clean, it looks terrible. Really disappointed that Kenmore does not realize the frustration of black glass tops. Now I place teapots and the like on the stove to hide Kenmores idiocy.
Works very fast and gets clothes very clean provided you use the right soap. Made sure that the lines are connected correctly. This was an item I bought on eBay and found that it was worth the price. Bought it bundled with a dryer. Cleans my items every time without fail. Only became unreliable when the top started to rust so I called the washer repair guy and asked to have the rust taken off. Instead they replaced the entire top of the washer. Appearance remained great until the rust showed up. The rust made the top of the dryer get dark and brown and strange. The appearance fell apart at that point. It was strange to see my clothes not look so nice at that point. It was very cheap, only a few hundred dollars so I was okay with the item totally falling apart when it did despite the fact that it was inconvenient. The value for me was perceived in the amount of money that I ultimately did not spend.
Redid our kitchen summer 2009. Bought all new Kenmore elite appliances. The oven did not work from the onset. Would not hold temperature. 3 repair calls later over a 6 month period seemed to fix it. The door water dispenser stopped working and while a repair man was looking at it, ended up pulling out a wire inside the door - then proceeded to tell us we needed a whole new door at $600! No way are we spending $600 for the convenience of a water dispenser after HE pulled out the wire that stopped it from working. Cant wait till we can trash these appliances and get a name brand that works. Hope sears goes out of business. Such an awful retailer. Never again.
I purchased a Kenmore ultra dishwasher along with stove and fridge. 1 year and 3 moths later the motor went out in the dishwasher. The warranty was up at 1 year. We called a Sears technician out because we purchased at sears. They would not stand behind their product, after hours on the phone. Was told $400 for the motor, plus labor.
I do not recommend anybody buying Kenmore products from Sears. They seem to care if you have problems but all theyre doing is giving you the runaround. They use ARS for their warranty claims and which they are rude and just plain liars... I have taken a day off work as they require a 9 to 5 window for an appointment. After calling Sears three times during that day to say I havent heard from the contractor all three times they (Sears) confirmed yes he is coming. The last time I contacted ARS myself as now Sears is closed. They told me he wasnt coming, so a day off work wasted... This has been going on for 4 weeks now, so my conclusion is I threw the Kenmore range out of my house and purchased a different brand. Take my advice. Do not buy Kenmore products. You will be disappointed if something goes wrong.
I purchased this range about six months ago, because I had an earlier model and loved it. Not so much this time. The oven bakes/roasts very unevenly, unless I use the convection feature. Recently, we found out the stovetop burner knobs are rendered useless VERY easily and VERY expensive to replace. There is a thin sheath inside the knob that fits over the shaft that controls the burner heat. This sheath often stays on the shaft when the knob is removed for cleaning. The first time it happened was by our cleaning lady, and she didnt notice that the knob was loose when she replaced it. We later figured out that the sheath had come out of the knob and just got lost. Now I am finding the sheath often stays on the shaft when I remove the knob and has to be replaced in the knob. It is very, very thin. We had to order a replacement knob and it cost $40!! $30 for the knob and $10 to ship. Not happy at all and will not recommend this product. Sad, because I have always had Kenmore appliances. No more.
I purchased a water heater from Sears in 2002 and it began leaking in 2008. That water heater had a 9 year warranty. I had it replaced with a Power Miser 12, with a 12 year warranty. This water heater is now leaking 7 years later. When I called to arrange a replacement, I was told that this warranty is no good since I did not pay extra when it was replace in 2008. I was never told this in all my phone calls to Sears in 2008 and during the horrific process I experienced, in 2008, where I had to find the plumber myself and make all the phone calls and arrangements myself since everything Sears was supposed to be doing and they were not.Now I am told there is no warranty on this Power Miser 12 which is 9 years old. I will never get another appliance from Sears again. In my conversation with the representative he just ended it with I hope the rest of your day goes better. If you are planning on buying a water heater, I suggest you run away from Sears. They are not the company they used to be. They just dont care anymore about reputation. I will be shopping for a new water heater from Home Depot or some big box store.
The clock would mysteriously reset as if a power outage had occurred. This happened for several weeks and then the control panel for the oven went dark and oven is UNUSABLE!!! So we call Sears for a warranty call out and the guy opens the back of the stove and discovers a bug back there that apparently shorted the board out and says he cant fix it and it wont be covered by the WARRANTY. This part is an electronic board that is not sealed in any way and will short out very easily again AT A COST OF $145.00 EACH after I spent almost a thousand on this stove. What really irritated me is even if I wanted to PAY for the repairs they would not do it. This stove is a piece of CRAP and I WILL NOT EVER RECOMMEND OR PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM SEARS!!! KENMORE/SEARS APPLIANCES SUCK.
This stove/oven was actually purchased by my mother. She loved Kenmore products. The item in my opinion is okay and I have no problems with its performance. Its just not the appliance I myself would have purchased.
It was perfect. I would buy another one if I could afford it. It kept everything cooled or frozen exactly how it should. It was HUGE. Lots of room for any size container. The places in the door were awesome. The drawers were big and roomy as well. The freezer side wasnt hampered by the ice maker either. I loved the stainless steel. Easy to clean. Shiny. Sexy. Much better than the typical textured outside of most refrigerators. Smooth. Lovely. It was priced perfectly. Mid-range. It was a scratch and dent model too so there was an additional discount which made it much more appealing to me and much more affordable.
I bought a refrigerator in my price range. I just wanted a nice reliable fridge for all my food and I would have liked the freezer to be bigger. I like the look of my Kenmore fridge on the outside and the room it had for all my food. It was very lightweight, sturdy and very durable. I loved the shelf space it had and the door space for meats, veggies and fruits. I loved that fridge. The only thing I would change is for it to be bigger and Id change the color because I like all black fridges.
This Kenmore washer is very energy efficient and does a great job cleaning my laundry. This is a good product and it has been nothing but reliable. I have had it for a few years and have never had to replace or have any repairs done. Mines white because all my other appliances are and its easier to keep everything matching. It is also worth every penny. I did some comparison before purchasing and believe this was the best quality product in our price range and am extremely satisfied with the purchase. I would definitely recommend this product.
The Kenmore Dishwasher is the perfect size. Its sleek and not too bulky. It fits really well in my kitchen and does not take up too much space. I like the black color of this dishwasher. It looks great. Its modern and attractive. It is also easy to wipe down and keep the outside door looking clean. Overall, this dishwasher does a great job. For really tough, stuck on food, I usually have to scrub it by hand first. But it still does a good job getting dishes clean. It was worth the price. It wasnt too overly expensive, and I feel that it was a good value for the money. It does what Id expect from a dishwasher in this price range.
Kenmore Elite has a proven record for quality and is guaranteed for an extended length of time against defects and manufacturers mistakes. It has lots of different cycles for specific dishes and silverware to offer the cleanest dishes that look hand washed and dried. They come out totally clean and sparkling every time. There is nothing I dislike about the dishwasher except having to clean the inside of the dishwasher when the dirty dishes leave a residue on the inside. It has an automatic dishwashing cleaner.
Very cold and insulated well. I have this unit outdoors and it stays cold. I also like the rack height. The frost free feature is important to me and provides easy maintenance. You can fit a lot in this unit. The space is better than the chest freezer I replaced. I like how every area keeps the same temperature as well. Very nice unit. The outside is white which matches my other outdoor appliances. The style is also plain and easy to clean. I wanted something simple in design and not hard to keep up. This unit fits that need. For the price I was very happy. It blew me away compared to something I was looking at from Costco. I knew what I wanted and this fit that expectation but at first avoided it because I thought it might have been out of my price range.
I purchased Kenmore Elite smooth top range in January 2013. In April 2013, I had the oven set on 350 degrees to cook meatloaf. I opened the oven door to insert food and the glass on the door exploded all over my feet and the floor. The repair person said this happens often, usually during self-cleaning. Thank God, it is under warranty but I wonder how long it will last. I am afraid to use the self-cleaning feature.
About 2 years ago I bought the full elite kitchen appliances. BIG MISTAKE! Few months after installation of all appliances the dishwasher didnt clean well. Called for service. The idiot that came said my dishes were too clean then the fridge was leaking water by the water dispenser and another idiot said maybe we close it too hard then the double oven trapped moisture between the glass and the third idiot said because we are by the beach and its cold outside and the oven is hot - so the worst appliances service and all. I will never ever buy anything from sears ever again.
Unhappy with the vent design on door of oven. Difficult to clean and when something is spilled, it runs inside door rather than out.
Bought the Kenmore double oven (top a microwave, bottom an oven). Oven racks kept falling. Sears replaced racks, oven interior, and wound up replacing oven. This time we got bottom and top ovens. Racks in both oven still fall. Very dangerous.
I have not been able to speak to anyone. I have sent an e mail. My five year old oven/range sent a huge spark out of the circuit board when I turned on the burner with the slow cooker. All inoperable now, no oven or burners. As I live alone, this was hardly used, as a family would use the oven.
I feel Kenmore products are the best. I have a self-cleaning oven and the range is natural gas. Its reliable, about 12 years old, never had a problem. I would always use Kenmore and recommend this item to others.
My mom has had this model stove for a while but after the first year the racks started falling down. The oven expands and the racks fall down. Last thanksgiving I lost the bird and was pissed, almost burnt my entire arm. Now its an everyday occurrence these days to the point that anyone that tries to use the oven lose rack of items. Ive burn my hand twice, and my nieces and nephews are not allowed to use the oven. MY mother is 75 and had not had a new stove ever and she saved up years to buy this piece of **!!! VERY DANGEROUS OVEN. HOW COULD THEY NOT RECALL THIS DANGEROUS OVEN???? IT is a BIG safety hazard. Last year we called Sears and they would not help in any way. WHY would a company wait for LAWSUIT before they correct a problem. THIS IS SO VERY DANGEROUS FOR ANYONE TO USE. NEVER BUY KENMORE stoves. I will be posting this on my several twitter feeds and Facebook profiles. This is a terrible way to treat a senior citizen!!!!
Mom always used and spoke positively about her Kenmore appliances. My initial expectations were met because the appliance was very nice and looked very good. The refrigerator was installed easy. Also, all the drawers and compartments were easy to understand, and clean. I like the reliability - never had refrigerator repaired. I like the ergonomic handle - easy to open & easy on the hand. I like the effective crisper drawer - keeps produce fresher. I like the temperature control dial, can turn temperature down when I am gone for an extended period. However, I would improve the length and width of some compartments on the interior door to fit a wider range of containers. I would also improve the seal on the door because it no longer seals closed as good as when it was new. I would make the entire refrigerator scratch proof.
We were excited about our new Kenmore oven. It was installed today and it took more than one hour to reheat the oven to 400*. After turned off the oven, the fan was on for a while. Its also very loud oven. Its new and we already called Sears for service. Im having red flags already and not sure if I will keep this oven. Do yourself a favor do NOT buy Kenmore.
Love the brand. I have been a Kenmore customer since I moved out on my own. Both my parents and Grandparents were Kenmore lovers. I have had both washer and dryers as well as stove, microwave. I have never had the brand fail me. I have even purchased Kenmore appliances used due to their reliability and my inability to afford a new appliance. My fridge has even cooling. No warm spots. There is also more than enough room for all of my needs. The height is good, all my bottles and jugs fit upright, no laying things down so the contents can leak out. Its also easy to see what youre looking for. I like the ability to change my shelves to fit the needs, such as the holidays fitting all the pies, desserts and salads in and still having room for all the regular fridge items. However, I dont like the plastic shelf barriers. They should be metal. So if something is a bit large it just bulges instead of breaking. I dont care for shortness of the drawers. I thought they were longer so things like stalks of celery and bags of carrots fit without trimming them.
My husband and I went to Sears appliance in Clifton March 6, 2014. The salesperson was rushing to make a sale, but we insisted on asking questions like, Can the microwave be used with the rack that is inside it? He told us they sell them with the rack because it can be used with the rack. We paid $400 for the Kenmore over the range microwave oven. We even purchased the extended warranty. With both the manufacturers warranty and the extended warranty we felt safe. Well, the microwave caught on fire and when we called we got a royal run-around for 3 hours. Sears blamed the manufacturer, the manufacturer blamed Sears, then Sears blamed me for using the microwave. The consumer is now blamed for using the appliance as the sales person said it could be used. This microwave has a rack to be used when cooking. It worked well for 6 months, then it caught on fire. When we asked about the warranty and manual, it turns out that the consumer is at fault no matter what happens. My house could have caught on fire. I have a microwave oven that should not be sold because of its tendency to catch on fire or blow up. The techs used the words blow up, not me. It is a fire hazard. Sears will neither replace nor will they repair the microwave. The people at Sears dont know that Kenmore is a part of that company and that they have the same numbers. Its ridiculous. I took pictures of the charred section. I thought Sears was better than that. I guess the best suggestion is dont buy microwave ovens from Sears. I checked other reviews and they all give terrible reviews. I should have read those first.
About 4 years ago, my wife and I bought 6 new Kenmore products for our new home including a dishwasher, oven, microwave, refrigerator and a washer and dryer. All of these products have failed. The oven will no longer bake. The microwave when turned on has a lighting show in the side which I feel is very unsafe. The dishwasher coating has come off the racks and they are rusting badly. The dryer door will not latch because its broken and the start button has broken too. The washer leaks and keeps stopping in the middle of a cycle and flashing a code for some problem. And last but not the least, the fridges filter leaks. We have tried to contact Kenmore and no one will talk to us or help, and dealing with Sears is just a joke! My wife and I spent very good money on these products and dont feel we should have to replace them 4 years later or have to repair them. They are all Kenmore Elite products and for the money we spent, we think the company should stand behind their products and workmanship. Even a call back or just a response would be nice, but I guess this is a company where once they get your money theyre done with you. If theres any way someone could help us, that would be great. We just want to be able to cook and do laundry again like people with working appliances do. Thank you for your time.
The refrigerator was well-built, simple and before we had to replace it, it lasted quite a while to what I imagined the normal life of a refrigerator should be especially with so many people in and out constantly for food or ice. Towards the end it didnt stay as cold, especially not when actually filled. Had to rearrange the refrigerator periodically, but overall very roomy. Held enough to readily feed 5 people daily, 2 of which usually had to have their own meals. The refrigerator has no fancy gadgets but easy to clean.
I purchased a Kenmore Elite Double Oven 790.4812 in 11/2009. After a few years we had to replace the motherboard for both ovens. This cost almost $500 for a virtually new oven. Now the oven is not keeping the temperature when set so we are probably looking at doing the same thing again - or purchase another oven when this one is only about 5 years old. I do not feel Sears/Kenmore has the same quality as it used to. Kenmore used to be a top quality brand. Not so much anymore. I dont plan to purchase any more Kenmore products.
We have had this for 4 years with no issues. Yesterday we had not used the microwave in several hours. Then my husband heard a pop in the kitchen. When we went out there the entire glass was shattered. There were small shards of glass on the stove and the floor. I have never heard of this happening. I googled it. That’s when I learned this happens if there is a defect in the glass. Thank goodness no one was in the kitchen or using the microwave at the time. A new microwave will cost less than the door will cost to replace. Go figure.
We are trying to prepare our Thanksgiving pies, and simply open the oven door to place the pies inside and POP! Nothing made contact with the glass, it simply shattered all over the floor. My oven door looks just like all the others here, so tell me its not a manufacturers defect. Every appliance Ive purchased in the last ten years has been shoddily built somewhere other than America. I say let Americans build something again. The closer they are, the more likely it is I can kick them when my expensive junk breaks!
I purchased a Kenmore Elite Oven Model #790 980 23800 about 4 years ago. Cost over $1,600.00. In the past several months I have noticed the oven racks will fall down. This can be a hazard because of the heat of the pan and possible spilling of contents. I logged onto the web and found a Kenmore site that had a few complaints on this oven. I reached out to a rep there who did have a repair man come out. He stated that it would cost $600.00 to fix, which is unacceptable.Went back to Kenmore and they advised me that since I do not have an extended warranty I would need to pay. They would negotiate the price. I think this is a defect, not something that the consumer should be responsible to fix. According to Kenmore rep if it is a defect then the manufacturer, Frigidaire would be responsible.Today I called Frigidaire and was told once the name Kenmore is on the product and it is sold by Kenmore the liability and rights are Kenmore. Waiting to hear back from Kenmore on Frigidaire’s response. The issue is I as a consumer bought a costly product from Kenmore and unless I buy an extended warranty they do not stand behind the product. Not to mention this issue is a hazard. Someone could get burnt very easily when a hot pan falls in an oven. Please let me know if there is any other steps I can take. Thank you.
After replacing my Kenmore Elite slide in oven/stove because it was a lemon with too many issues to enumerate, I foolishly choose the next generation thinking it was improved. This stove cannot maintain a temperature for more than 10 minutes before it begins a preheat function and it begins to try to come to temp by firing up the top and/or bottom heating elements effectively ruining any delicate baked goods like cookies or cakes. I will never ever buy a Kenmore product again. In addition even though they market a five element stove top, if you have 2 elements on high and the oven on, the entire unit blows the breakers and fuses (and it is not our wiring/breakers that are malfunctioning). Worst product ever!
Last year I purchased the Kenmore 73059 fridge from Sears to replace the 6 year old Kenmore French door fridge that I purchased from Sears that died. First of all, the water dispenser leaked. The tech blamed it on low water pressure in my home, but the old (6 year old) fridge didnt leak. Now, mere weeks out of warranty, the new fridge is dead. All customer service could say was, You know its out of warranty. You should have purchased one of our home warranties. Do NOT purchase Kenmore appliances. They are unreliable pieces of junk!!! And they do NOT stand behind their products. Oh, and the microhood (over-the-range microwave) I purchased 7 years ago needed a new magnetron at 51 weeks old (at least it was covered under the warranty). Note it has a bad humidity sensor (at 7 years old).
Has lasted for years after many uses and many kids with tons of dirty clothes and a dirty husband. Even had shoes thrown in and still runs like a champ. Plus no lost socks! Works every time all the time. Even dries faster than other dryers Ive used and its great for quick use, plus I love all the options. The price is definitely worth it. I love the appearance of this dryer. It fits my decor greatly and matches my washer perfectly even though they are different models. Its very sleek and looks like a much more expensive dryer and its a mid range price dryer. I love that it looks like a high end dryer. This isnt your mothers dryer, with the old knobs and buttons. I love how this dryer looks.
Purchased 3 appl. LG fridge $2700, LG dishwasher $900 and Kenmore Pro gas stove/elec. OVEN $3212.00 - yes $3212.00! Purchased 4/13. Total purchase with everything was $7285.99! Not even 6 yrs. old yet!!! Just replaced the dishwasher - it just quit working, not fixable, moved the fridge so they could bring in the new dishwasher and now the fridge quit cooling and needs a new compressor! Of course they expired 4/16 and never used them... The service call was $78.50 and even though the compressor is covered under warranty the LABOR will be $450!!! The stove has issues as well and will error and turn off the oven when cooking.... So upset and extremely disappointed in their performance or better word LACK of performance. Just sick over this having to replace again after this COST!!! There must be some recourse for the customer! So I guess it doesnt matter what you pay you will be lucky to get 5 yrs. out of your appliances.
This was a brand new unit in my brand new house. From day one I had problems with both the oven and microwave. First-after using the microwave for a couple weeks, I noticed the handle had become loose. No problem I thought, Ill just tighten the screws-nope. The screws are not accessible. They are hidden under the plastic frame and are not able to get to. I called Sears authorized service, they came out, and because of the poor design flaw, they had to replace the entire door=$500.00, which was covered. Now the oven, it never has heated properly and when I went to use it, it made a loud humming noise, then when I went to use the broiler, the cooling fan you could hear, was scraping against the sides of something inside. Once again, Sears service was called, came out, had to order a new fan/motor. To access the fan/motor, they had to pull the unit from the wall, and in doing so, tore my wall up a little bit. When they sat it on the floor to work on it, they didnt put anything under it and there were major dents in my new luxury vinyl flooring. They got it repaired, re-installed it and it worked fine until yesterday. The microwave door handle is loose again also. I called Sears service yesterday and explained to them its doing the exact same thing it was when they were here before. The representative informed me it would be a service charge of something like $250.00/hr. I couldnt believe it-I told him its doing the same thing it did before. Their response- their repairs only have a 90 day warranty. I told him I wasnt paying for what obviously is a poorly designed appliance. I informed him I would contact my attorney. Bottom line- every mechanical and electrical device will have its issues over time, to me, its about how the manufacturer stands behind their product. Will not buy a Sears product again.
I bought a Kenmore gas range from Sears in Sept. 2012. I recently tried to use the broiler and the self cleaning features (not at the same time of course). When using these features, the range produced an extreme amount of a chemical smelling smoke that filled my house and set off my smoke detectors. I called a technician and was told that the unit was burning off a cutting oil that is used in the manufacturing process and that the smoke was perfectly normal. REALLY??? My husband has asthma and has had to leave the house because of the smoke. I cant get anyone from Sears of Kenmore to help me. I am incurring costs like crazy trying to get this mess cleaned up, paying for my husbands hotel and paying a company to come in and run air scrubbers. I have also had to remove the stove from the house in order to reduct the smell of toxins and now I have no way to cook for my family.
Purchased Kenmore Electric Range Model 79094182310 Nov. 2017. Within 1 yr after using Self-Clean feature which resulted in scorched area to the top of oven door on left side, I called for service. This scorched panel was replaced and I was told not to use self-clean function???! During 2018 I continued using the oven, replaced the bulb and still getting scorched/brown areas on top panel of the oven door even at temps of 425 and above. Called again and tech from Indianapolis came, checked thoroughly, called for research info about this oven, advised that the oven door seems ok but heat exhaust from oven is faulty/insufficiently constructed and there is no repair/solution. This faulty electric range should be recalled and replaced.
I bought my Kenmore range a few years ago and I smell gas especially when using the broiler. A serviceman did come out and also checked the oven temp. He said all was fine. I still smell gas when using the broiler for a few minutes. I must also preheat the oven long and set 5-20 degrees higher. Sears should have stuck with Kenmore, Craftsman, and their durable jeans. They started sending their work out and that was their downfall. What a shame!
I furnished a new house with all Kenmore Elite appliances in October 2010: Washer/Dryer, Central Vac, Fridge, Stove, Dishwasher. All have had issues and repairs except for the dishwasher which is rarely used. Most recent, the oven door simply exploded on its own. This is when you have to wonder about a companys credibility when selling such junk. Wheres the consumer protection when product like this can cause bodily injuries? I would never buy anything from Sears again. Its time to cut up my Sears card.
The two-year old Kenmore stainless steel gas range I bought in November of 2010 was in the house. On August 7th 2011, I had opened the oven door and brushed against the corner edge and received a bad cut. It took 20 stitches to close it up. Has this happened to anyone before?
I have a Kenmore stainless steel freestanding range serial #VF70220446 and model #790 961234 that I purchase in 2007. For some time this has been happening, the stove top range says hot and it even stays on when it is suppose to be off. One night, I passed by the stove and noticed that the range was high orange-having been for some time. I know I have to take the plug out in order for it to turn off and stay off.
Fridge model 795 7032 - Im less than pleased with this refrigerator and the manufacturers honor to their product. Within 6 months of owning it the ice maker/dispenser stopped working. We opted out of spending the extra $100 for the extra warranty because for some reason I had faith that a brand new product wouldnt have issues, and if it did, then I could trust the manufacturer to stand behind it. That didnt happen either. Instead, we were pitched getting a warranty for $40/mo after paying a $60 fee to start. Completely dissatisfied with our product and experience and will likely be getting something else from another brand. The oven we bought at the same time, also Kenmore, is another story. It takes 20 minutes to preheat to 350 degrees or higher...
I have always trusted Kenmore appliances to deliver value, performance and reliability. The fact that they are readily available in most areas in America matters since I move a lot. Its nice to know a dealer is nearby for necessary repairs, or more likely, to buy a newer version. There were many models to choose from so I could get the one that fit my apartment situation perfectly. I had a basic model and it was a size good there but also transitioned to my first house with no problem. It was very easy to clean, and keep clean. However its always a battle to chose between amount of features versus price. And more variety in shelving arrangements would have been nice. Gallon milk jugs and 2 liter soda bottles are a challenge in smaller fridges.
Safety hazard - The design of the oven door is not safe. With the door open Thanksgiving morning, I walked into the door and the extremely sharp edge gashed my left leg causing me to have to have 12 stitches. I am attaching photos of my leg and also photos of the door of the stove.
August 2015, I purchased a Kenmore Elite Convection Oven MODEL #970C693832. Its a beautiful oven which came with a major problem. The red flag should have been noted when it was delivered, and the glass control panel fell off; this was before it was even brought into my kitchen. I asked them to return it, and we got a new one a week later. Three months in, the same thing happened again; the glass control panel fell off. I called Sears, and they sent a technician to fix it with a new control panel. The technician mentioned to me that the only thing holding the control panel is glue. When the oven is in use, every time I use my oven, the glue is melting away. Theres no frame to support it, when the glue melts off. How is this even safe? Last week, the same problem happened again, the glass control panel fell off. I called Sears again.Today, a technician from Sears came in to check it out and will be fixing it again with a new control panel. So until he comes back, and fixes it, I have to use tape to hold up the control panel in order to use the oven. Luckily, its still under the extended warranty, but I cant keep calling Sears to replace the control panel every time the glue melts. Instead of sending a technician to fix the same problem, Sears should replace this appliance because this problem will happen again, and they know it. This oven is not good, and I would never recommend it. Sears should do its part and make sure they are selling their customers good appliances that they can rely on. I am very disappointed with my appliance from Sears, and I wish Sears would make good appliances with top-of-the-line materials and parts. Sears needs to do a quality check assurance on their appliances before they go on the market. We as customers cannot afford to expend so much money on products that either dont last, or have problem with their parts.
After 20 yrs with my old Kenmore I just bought a new machine through Sears Can...I deliberately did not buy an HE. I am a weaver and when I finish things Ive woven, I need to control the washing process. I did not realize that the lid-lock is continually in effect. Stop the lock and I cant watch the washing process. Then I discover there is no soak cycle. (I also run a small guest house and towels frequently need to soak before a wash cycle.) What designer/programmer, in his infinite idiocy, chose to set the default at empty?! This is moronic! Fill the machine and get distracted and leave the lid up--it empties. Realize I set the wrong cycle and change the dial--it empties. Close the lid and let it sit--it empties.Add to this the fact that the towels are NOT coming out clean. I have tried different cycles, more detergent, hotter water. I have washed twice. I have let things soak. (Put the drain hose into the machine, let it drain back into the drum, pull the electrical plug. Let sit. Put hose into clean garbage can, insert electrical plug and now, even if I want to wash, it drains--into the can. Start from beginning and bucket soapy water into drum as it begins to fill. Start wash. For this I paid nearly $700 CAD tax included. Im putting it on Kijiji as soon as I can find a Speed Queen replacement. And am trying to get my old machine back in service until then. Never again, Kenmore.
Every time I use the dryer it gets the job done. It doesnt take hours to dry them and it allows me to get more dry in half the time. I would recommend in using this dryer to help save time. It is time saving and has really helped me get my drying done. With the setting on the dryer, I can control the dry I need for my clothes. I like that is dryer is compact and it has a wonderful look to it, it is modern and fits next to my washer easily. Having the matching set will make any washroom complete and beautiful. Not everyone likes going out spending big money on washers and dryers. I found that this price was in my price range, it wasnt too high and you are getting the product for your money so you never have to worry about overspending.
All my appliances have been Kenmore all my adult life. I own a washer, dryer, refrigerator, stove, dishwasher and freezer that is 25 years old. I have never had a problem with any of my appliances. (Knock on wood!!)
My glass top oven is really and has never given a problem since I have owned it. It the best stove and greatly recommended it. I love the double burner so I can go from small to large cooking for dinner.
This is third Kenmore oven electric s/c. First one went into self-clean on its own, nearly burned the house down and completely charred the whole oven. Second one had two major board failures, resulting in the third. This one may or may not respond to control inputs. No more Sears stuff, ever.
Nice range and stove top, but the electronic controller failed, and replacing a couple of circuit boards cost two thirds of the cost of a new range.
I purchased this Kenmore convection range in July 2011 online from Sears for $782.16 with free delivery. A few weeks ago, I was using the self-cleaning cycle when I heard a pop and saw a spark of light. I turned the cycle off, let it cool and turned the cleaning cycle back on and finished the cleaning. In my heart I knew there was something not right. I tested the preheat and it seemed slow, but I was able to use the oven a few times after that. Then the last time I turned it on, I got a weird chlorine smell/burning plastic?...That was it... No more oven. After the disbelief subsided, I started making phone calls. Per Sears... my one year warranty was up and I was up a creek. Sears repair sent a repairman ($80.25 with tax) and I was told it would be $348.02 to repair the electronic range control and overlay.Needless to say, the repairman had little to say except, These things are mass produced, its the manufacturer (Kenmore? probably not) not Sears. I guess Sears only sells the junk. After that they have no responsibility. He also had the gall to say, It is what it is, and left coupons for a percentage off a new stove. The little Troll even gave me a line about purchasing a new warranty after they repaired their junk. TWILIGHT ZONE... I will never buy another Kenmore product nor will I buy from Sears. If I could give a negative star rating I would... Now I need to go look for a stove as I am raising three grandchildren and they like to eat regular... Guess you get what you pay for... or not!
We bought a brand new Kenmore Elite Fridge with double french doors, top of the line a little over 3 years ago. Just after 3 years and the warranty ran out, so did the compressor. We also had bought a Kenmore oven, where the glass broke right before the warranty ran out. It really seems Kenmore is into planned obsolescence, and not making stuff to last anymore. Repair guy says parts and fix wont be in for 2 weeks. The experience has been bad considering you have to keep things on ice, and the slow repair turnaround. Id keep shopping and make sure you pick a brand that is more reliable.
I purchased a complete line of Kenmore Elite products to furnish my new house in September 2010. Fast forward 1.5 years later, the indoor ice maker stopped working. I lived without ice for a while until I could find a good time to get a repairman out from Sears to fix it (2013). Now, the seals on the doors collect condensation and seem to build up a residue, special. Last night, I was surprised to have the exterior glass of my oven explode on to me whilst baking at 400. 400.... pretty average baking temp, nothing thrown at the oven, dropped on it, smacked to it, nothing. Just a surprise explosion and a cut to the shin from the tempered glass flying at me.
We purchased a Kenmore range less than 1 year ago, and the seal on the glass on the front of the range leaked grease in between the glass panels. The Sears repairman took it apart and cleaned it. But he told us that this would happen again and that there was nothing that they could do. A Kenmore rep told me the same thing happened to his to, but he just put a towel in front of his stove so it would not look so bad. So I guess I will put a towel in front of my new Kenmore range so it doesnt look so bad with my new Kenmore Elite fridge, Kenmore Elite dishwasher and Kenmore Elite microwave.
My parents bought Kenmore fridges and I continue this practice because they recommended this brand. I had purchased two other refrigerators and liked Kenmore better. I really did like the size and the design of the fridge. I liked the versatile way you could arrange shelving the way you liked. Easy to store products and has lots of storage space in doors too. You could put beverages in the door if you chose to or put them on shelves. I like arranging the placement of products in fridge myself. I also liked temperature control in the very front of fridge as well as the placement of the butter dish and a designated space for my eggs. I liked the ice maker, glass shelves, crisper and frost-free freezer. It had air holes and I could manage the door handles. I also liked the color and that it was well lit and insulated. Added water purifier made plenty of ice. It kept food cold and did not sweat. There were no coils exposed on the back making it easy to clean. However, fridge was a disappointment. The top crisper broke many times and had to repeatedly replace it. The door holders kept breaking and the bottom ledge cracked too. The material it was made is not strong and parts were expensive. The plastic used inside the refrigerator was a wrong choice. There was also a pattern on door handles that grabbed dirt. You had to constantly clean the handles. I would like wheels on fridge so I could easily clean behind and under it.
Kenmore Elite Electric range: After running the pyrolytic cleaning cycle, the inner liner of the stove has warped. Except on the lowest level the wire racks will no longer support a load. I place a pan on the middle level (usual for baking) and the rack collapses!I paid Sears (~$100) to send a technician to diagnose the patently obvious problem. Still, they wouldnt do anything (out of warranty) except perform a $1,000 (my estimate for parts & labor) repair that would simply replace the warped parts with more of the same to repeat the performance after another cleaning cycle. I’ve sent letters to the president of Sears Canada, no luck. I have plans to fix it myself. I hope Sears keeps bleeding red ink. Sears will never sell me anything else!
I bought all 4 appliances at one time, Kenmore elite top of line bottom freezer/ref, dishwasher, microwave and electric stove. Ive owned them for at least 4 years and had problems with all of them. I paid top dollar for junk. What put me to post my displeasure was the refrigerator. About 1 month after warranty expired I began to receive Er 1F messages. I read on internet to pull the plug and it will resolve problems. I did it several times a year since then and problem would resolve and come back again. Now its becoming more frequent and water is now leaking from ice-maker. Going to change fan and motherboard to see if it solves the problem. Dishwasher also top of the line which I had to change major part that failed which caused major flood/water damage to house. Lucky that was still under warranty at the time. I would not recommend this product to anyone. Buyers beware. I signed up to a class action suit regarding refrigerator problems couple years back but did not hear back from group filing lawsuit. Sears and Kenmore should stop selling these inferior products with the elite tag. I had a GE appliances that lasted for 10 years or more which was much cheaper and more reliable than these terrible products. No wonder they were pushing me to purchase extended warranty cause there was known problems with these awful appliances.
Today I turned on the Kenmore Elite stove and there was a bright flash from behind the stove and a puff of smoke came up from behind. The breaker immediately tripped. I called the Sears number and was transferred to your their call center 1-800-469-4663. I talked to a very pleasant woman who informed me that my warranty was up on November 9th and there was nothing she could do for me but schedule a service call. The earliest date was Friday. I asked if I could speak to a supervisor and was told they were not given the authority to change anything or help any farther. She told me this was my best option. Thursday, Thanksgiving I have a house full of family coming and no more Sear oven to use. My hope was Sears could stand by their appliances and in good faith be able to fix the problem. We have purchased thousands of dollars in Sear appliances, mower etc. One year and done on your top of the line appliances doesnt make for the bestadvertisement. I hope you can find it in your budget to rectify the tight spot Sear will be putting us in.
I really have had a very good experience with this dishwasher. I was always pleased with how well the dishes were clean. As long as I used a very good brand of dishwasher liquid and arranged the dishes in the washer so that nothing was covered up by another dish the dishes all came out very clean and spot free. The size of this washer was good for my family of 5. We didnt have to do much hand washing as we were always able to put most if not all the dishes into this washer to be washed. I love the color of this washer because it matched the colors of my other appliances. Black does not show a lot of stains. It just really blends well even with my cabinetry. It is very easy to wipe clean. The perceived value is that it is a good solid brand that is worth more than the money paid for it. It makes my life so much easier being that we do have a nice sized family and as much as I hate to do the dishes this really makes it easy for me to get the dishes done so it is more worth the money we paid for it.
Kenmore range (model # 790.91413010) was purchased in March of 2011. A week or two later, the front control panel on the range fell in. Sears brought another range in the same model out and now this range has the exact same defect. Sears wants us to pay for the repair since warranty is no longer valid. I feel that this is a manufacturers defect or installation defect of the control panel, not something that the consumer should have to be accountable for. Sears/Kenmore needs to be held accountable for their products!
It has been reliable so far for 2 years and never an issue. Had one Kenmore microwave before for 15 years before it gave out and never an issue. They are worth the money and easy to use. I would recommend any product that is kenmore. Refrigerator, stove and microwave since I have owned all 3.
We bought top loading high efficiency low water washer SN C54547545 in July 2016. It took a lot longer to wash a load. This year 2019 it started acting strange. The clothes were too wet and I’d drain/spin again. Checked the troubleshooting section-nothing worked. My husband put clothes in dryer while I was out and the load was too heavy, causing my dryer to burn up. Now I’m looking to buy both. Washers should last longer than 3 years!
Kenmore Electric Range Model 790. Do not purchase this product!! The past few years we have been dealing with this range going directly to broil while baking. Almost started a house fire when it first happened. After calling and writing Sears I have gotten no response, no help or assistance with repair and there has been no recall even though I have read hundreds of similar incidents. I have unplugged it, reset breaker, and it works for a week or two then does it again. I have learned to cook using broil but it gets too hot and code error F10 flashes. Absolute terrible product and I am disappointed in Sears for not helping people out and for safety reasons, getting these ranges out of peoples homes. No wonder Sears is all but going out of business. You cannot run a successful business selling this kind of appliance. PLEASE RECALL THIS ELECTRIC RANGE!!
Burn hazard due to oven racks falling. Apparently this is a well-known and well-documented hazard. These ovens are manufactured by Frigidaire for Kenmore and Jenn-Air with only the cosmetics being different. Same defect in both. Jenn Air has recalled and replaced the defective products, Sears is in denial. The problem is that when the self-cleaning mode is used, the oven sidewalls expand, allowing the racks to fall, resulting in burns. So far, weve been lucky, but if a small child or pet were in the vicinity... it could be tragic. We purchased all high end Kenmore Elite when we redid our kitchen. The factory service was a joke. We filed a complaint with the Consumer Product Safety Commission and will be sending a demand letter to Sears and Frigidaire.
Apparently my problem of the oven racks falling is quite common with Kenmore Elite ovens because the walls are too thin. If this is a design flaw or intentional to generated more revenue, we will not know unless the government gets involved and requires a recall. This was the answer I got after several days of the run around with Sears saying it is a Kenmore problem and Kenmore telling me they are owned by Sears and it is a Sears problem. All the while denying there is even a problem and the only way they would acknowledge the problem is if the government had enough complaints. This is a $500.00 fix and they use the same defective walls to replace the existing. Im completely exasperated and hope this complaint will add to the many I have seen and something will be done. It is a Safety issue most of all and people can easily get burned with falling hot racks.
Well built and designed to work for a long time. My family loves ours. Had it for over 10 years. Would recommend one to anyone, small or big family. The size and space inside and out fits our lifestyle, plenty of storage space in lunch meat and vegetables drawers, lots of shelf space. Sits tall and straight and very level, built solid to withstand the family who opens and shuts it often. Easy to keep clean. Just wipe and go. The price range fit nicely within our budget, very affordable. You get what you pay for. Very competitive price, cant beat it. Very nice.
I bought the Kenmore Dishwasher, in fact, I bought all Kenmore appliances because they work great and last for years and we get superior service on them. I have had my appliances for over ten years and they still work great like new, no problems. It has featured of being able to have heat on or off, having the arm on top and bottom, quietness. I like the silverware basket because its on the side and not the middle which gives you more room. I also like that my top rack is deep. I wish it had a self-cleaning feature like an oven so I could run it once a week to keep the power wash free of debris. We live where the water is hard, it would be nice if it had a built-in water softener that you could maybe change a filter out so I didnt have to buy additives to keep them from spotting up so bad.
I used the self cleaning on the bottom oven. I did it according to the instructions in the manual. The walls in the bottom oven expanded so much that the racks will not stay up. It is not under warranty! This has never happened before to the other ranges we have owned and we have spent a lot more money on this range! Its a hazard when the racks fall I have to prop them up on empty pans to use the oven. We have been loyal Sears customers for years but now we will never purchase from Sears again!
I bought a Kenmore 79032613318, slide in range for over $1300. I had shopped around but knew the kenmore brand for years and felt this would be a good choice. I bought in June of 2016 and by the end of the summer of 2017 none of the range control buttons worked. So basically all I had was a stove and no oven. I researched the possible problem and found that either the electronic controller or the cover panel itself was bad (that is where the touch screen buttons are housed). The controller cost 227 and the control panel cost 337. I took a gamble and replaced the controller. Still not working, now Sears is telling me to replace the control panel. So if I decide to do this I will have over $500 into a range that lasted less than year....Think I wont be buying any sears products in the near future and will just move on and buy new range somewhere else....Got hosed on that deal for sure.
Performance was good. I rarely needed to pre-wash dishes by hand. Just rinse any solids or large amounts of liquids and dishes were always clean, even without using the hi-temp wash. Noise was tolerable, so you did not feel like you had to be in another room while the dishwasher was running. It is a standard sized dishwasher with a fairly normal interior layout common to most dishwashers in this price range. Dishwasher looks very nice in a kitchen of stainless steel appliances. They do show smudges and dirt, so cleaning is important. Window cleaner works wells to avoid streaks, but using stainless steel appliance cleaner gave the metal a deeper look, with easy application and is worth paying a few dollars for. This Kenmore was a good mid-range dishwasher. It is not silent, nor does it have an extremely well thought out interior, but it cleans well, looks good, and gets the job done for a reasonable price.
On opening the Kenmore convection wall oven door, the handle was loose and when I pulled on it, the entire glass door shattered, cutting my hand, ruining food on the counter, spraying glass as far as 12 from the oven. Using a whisk broom, regular broom and the vacuum, we were able to get most of the glass up and then we washed all of the kitchen rugs. If a small child or one of our pets had been next to me, some serious harm may have resulted. I have read about other customers having this problem and that replacing the door is not a safe option - it can happen again. Its a serious design flaw.I have spent at least an hour or two so far on the phone with Sears and Kenmore, last night immediately after the explosion and then again this morning. They are willing to send a repair tech to assess the problem at a cost to me of $99 because I have no extended warranty. NOT FAIR! This is their problem and they should offer ways to replace the oven with a better design or recompense me so that I can get a safe oven.
I have never owned a stove that I loathe as much as I do the Kenmore glass top stove that we have. Every week without fail, the handle comes apart, causing the glass door and white casing to fall to the ground and I have to screw the entire door and handle back on. We arent rough with this appliance. Its a piece of junk, period. Another thing is that the cooking elements dont provide consistent heat. If I want to boil water to make a cup of tea, I swear I have to wait five minutes before the water in the kettle comes to a boil. I really detest this stove and I am counting the days until it finally gives up the ghost so I can buy a decent stove.
Amazing. The dishes came out very clean and no water spots. Even takes off caked on food. Very fast washing and quiet. I would recommend to anyone who needs a new one. Compact but very roomy inside. It fit well in my kitchen and my kitchen is definitely on the smaller side. I have dinner parties often and it can hold all of the dishes. The washer is beautiful. Water spots dont stick and fingerprints are easily wiped off with a wet rag. I prefer the black because it looks sleek and fits in with the kitchen. It was a great price. I am always looking for a bargain and after comparing models and prices this one was the best option and easily within my price range.
Just bought a new Kenmore Elite Oven along with a Kenmore Elite Refrigerator & a Bosch Dishwasher from local Sears store 8/2/2013. 4 1/2 months later as I am preheating the oven I hear the little fans inside making terrible noises. Then, BOOM. All lights go out on oven & top eyes. It threw my 50 amp breaker. My husband said do not touch it! It had to have been strong to flip that breaker. Has anyone else had problems with their ovens? I called Sears & they said 2 weeks before a repairman could come! So, I cannot cook for my family for over 2 weeks not counting how long it will take for them to get the parts!!!
I bought a Kenmore gas range at Sears. 4 months later the oven control went off. Because the appliance still on the manufacturer warranty I called to Sears customer service (the worst customer service I ever contacted). They set me an appointment for the next three days. I was waiting on the technician and never showed up. I called back again to Sears and then they give me a number for a company named GKB services (I dont know who is more incompetent, Sears customer service or GKB services) that is going to fix my appliance. GKB send me back to Sears, and Sears send me to GKB.Thanksgiving day was a nightmare thanks to Sears and GKB services, (I have to eat Kentucky Fried Chicken for my Thanksgiving dinner). However it has been 2 months and the stupid Kenmore gas range still without to get fixed. I dont know what to do. Nobody help me to fix that appliance, (Im really disappointed until the point to go to Sears to dropped the stupid appliance) with my frozen turkey, that I never get cooked. I tried everything and both Sears and GKB doesnt fix my range. Did someone know what can I do to get the appliance fixed?
Purchased oven in 2013. Worked well for a while, but now I am having a problem with the controls. Recently, the oven control panel has started flickering and will not completely shut down when the ovens timer reaches zero. Big disappointment!
We purchased the Kenmore Elite Double Oven Gas Range Model 790 in Nov. 2011 & contrary to our usual approach, bought the 3-year extended warranty in part because the stove was expensive, being on sale for almost $1800. On Oct 30, 2014, the oven would not heat & a technician replaced the upper oven bake ignitor. Whew!...we thought. Lucky for us we had the extended warranty. But wait...on Feb. 9, 2015, with the extended warranty expired by about 2 1/2 months, the oven was turned on for use. While waiting for it to pre-heat, the oven started beeping wildly, then a terrible electrical burning smell flooded the house. My husband raced to the kitchen to see flames shooting out of the vents in the back. He managed to get the fire out and the gas turned off. The entire backside of wires was charred. We took photos & went to Sears where the Manager told us there was nothing he could do. He said it was up to the Service (1-800-4-MY HOME). We were incredulous that Sears does not have its own managers making these types of customer service decisions, but rather that the repair service to which they contact has that authority! I reminded him this was not a user error in that we did not set off a grease fire, but that the stove CAUGHT ON FIRE! We suggested that we thought Sears should take that very seriously, as a house fire could have resulted. He went on to repeat that Service would charge us to come out to verify & assess the damage & likely offer us no satisfaction. We previously bought appliances from Sears, but no longer. All our friends are incredulous that Sears is not replacing this stove.
