Entire Range Won’t Operate 
If none of your range’s functions will operate, ensure that its power cord is firmly plugged into the outlet. There may be an issue with the power supply to the appliance, so examine your home’s fuse box or circuit breaker. Replace any blown fuses or reset the circuit breaker if necessary. If there is adequate power to your range but it still won’t turn on, its service wiring may be incomplete. Contact Kenmore at the number listed in your owner’s manual for assistance. If you are trying to use the oven portion of your range and it won’t operate, make sure that the time is set on the display clock. The oven won’t turn on if the clock hasn’t been set. 

Cooktop Element Doesn’t Heat 
If the elements on your smooth cooktop won’t heat or aren’t heating evenly, check that you’ve turned the correct control knob for the element you want to use. The elements may seem not to heat or may seem to heat unevenly if improper cookware is used. Avoid lightweight or warped pans that don’t distribute heat evenly. Opt for flat, even, medium- or heavy-weight pots and pans, which heat more evenly, so food isn’t likely to burn. 

Abrasions on Cooktop Surface 
If you notice marks on the smooth cooktop surface of your range, they may be abrasions or scratches from rough food particles that get trapped between the surface and your cookware. These marks don’t affect cooking results and usually fade over time, but you can avoid them by wiping down the cooktop, and your pots and pans, before cooking. Abrasions may also appear on your cooktop’s surface if you don’t use the proper cleaning products to clean it. Choose a cleanser designed specifically for ceramic-glass cooktops and buff it with a nonabrasive sponge or cloth. If your cooktop has discoloration, it may be caused by food that has boiled over and been cooked onto the ceramic glass during cooking. A razor blade scraper can remove the debris. Mineral deposits from food and water can also discolor your cooktop surface. Use an appropriate cleaning product to remove them. 

Range Isn't Level 
If your range doesn’t appear level, examine the floor beneath it to ensure that it is level and stable enough to support the appliance. Contact a carpenter or contractor to strengthen the floor if you notice it is sloping or sagging. Your range may not be level if it was poorly installed, too. Set a rack in the center of the oven and place a level on it. Adjust the leveling legs at the bottom of the range until the level indicates the problem has been corrected. Keep in mind that the alignment of your kitchen cabinets can make the range appear like it’s not level. Cabinets should be square and allow clearance for the range.

Its not the best. It doesnt always get the dishes nice and clean. They dont always come out dry and I have never had a load of dishes come out without water spots on them. The size of the dishwasher is very good for the size of household that we have. We are a family of 4 and this dishwasher can hold 2 days worth of dishes in it. The appearance of this dishwasher is good. It can match into any basic kitchen that you put it in. It has a nice and clean look to the front of it. I have no clue what the retail value of this dishwasher is. Because my dishwasher was bought second hand and only cost my 25.00. I hope if I have to replace this one that the price is in a good price range.

Bought electric stove in Jan 2011. On Christmas Eve this year, I preheated oven and smelled weird electric or plastic burning smell. Wasnt sure what smell was from, put muffins in to bake. Oven cooked way too hot and burnt muffins in 10 minutes. Turned oven off and sparks, smoke and black ash poured out of top. Called Sears to see what they would do about my stove starting on fire. They were rude and wouldnt do anything other than offer over priced technician that I would have to pay for.Clearly, the oven sparking and smoking was caused by a defect in their product. Afraid for my safety, I unplugged stove until I could hire my own repairman to come and diagnose stove. I would not trust Sears technician anymore than Kenmore product and was not about to pay more money to such a worthless company. Last time I checked, a stove is a purchase that should last longer than two or three years. $260 repair, had to replace control board. I will never purchase another Sears or Kenmore product. Buyer beware!! If you purchase a defective product from this company, you are on your own.

Glad to not have to wash dishes by hand and also the dry time is great... Dont have to worry about second washing... very easy and convenient. My kitchen is kind of small so this dishwasher is a great size and falls right into place around my cabinets and under my countertop. Great fit for any size kitchen. The white goes very well with my kitchen. The color matches my kitchen appliances... the stove and refrigerator. It is easy to clean also. The value of the dishwasher is good. Low maintenance and upkeep. I really like this dishwasher and I would recommend it to anyone who is shopping around for a great dishwasher.

I paid right at $1,000 in the fall of 2008 and within three months, I needed a service call. Then right after the one year warranty, I needed several parts replaced and now one year after, it has three error codes. Everyone is recommending the LG machines for everything because they last much longer! I am certainly not going to throw my money away on a Whirlpool appliance any longer. I went through the same thing with our refrigerator and microwave. I bought Whirlpool in 1980 and swore by it. I didnt replace an appliance (purchased washer, dryer, stove, refrigerator and dishwasher) all at the same time in June of 1980. All appliances lasted for 15+ years. Now, Whirlpool doesnt make anything to last! Large appliances are much too expensive to have to replace every three to five years!

It had several different compartments so you could squish this on many different levels which made it easy to organize and arrange things. The top shelf could be placed really far down so that you could place large jugs of water, soup pots or other crock-pot type of devices there with no problems plus you could fit even a large turkey roaster in there during the holidays. So, I would not complain about the spacing. The refrigerator itself was very quiet. I could barely tell that it was running. You could easily adjust the dials inside to change the temperature of the refrigerator or freezer. There was no frost build up in the freezer ever. I would suggest this to anyone.

These ovens are manufactured by Frigidaire for Kenmore and Jenn-Air with only the cosmetics being different. Same defect in both. Jenn Air has recalled and replaced the defective products, Sears is in denial. The problem is that when the self-cleaning mode is used, the oven sidewalls expand, allowing the racks to fall, resulting in burns. So far, weve been lucky, but if a small child or pet were in the vicinity... it could be tragic. We purchased all high end Kenmore Elite when we redid our kitchen. The factory service was a joke. We filed a complaint with the Consumer Product Safety Commission and will be sending a demand letter to Sears and Frigidaire.

I purchased this more expensive refrigerator as I thought LG/Kenmore was a good brand (also bought a stove & washer dryer by them. Upon researching the problem, looks like there is a class action suit against LG due to faulty compressors failing after 3 years, which they claim LG knew about, but kept selling these. Now I am out a freezer full of meat and have an expensive repair. THIS IS NOT FAIR. I had a repairmen come diagnose the problem and he said it is the compressor. $300 for parts and $600 for labor. That IS $900 to fix my $1400 fridge. A MAJOR APPLIANCE SHOULD BE BACKED BY BY AT LEAST A FIVE YEAR PARTS AND LABOR WARRANTY. I was not expecting to buy a new fridge every 2 years.

I did everything the manual stated to do and also took out the racks and self cleaned them myself. The representative on the phone told me to put a hot cloth with white vinegar over the area, and then I may have to rub the area, if that didnt work to take a razor blade and lightly go over area and the spots would be removed. After trying both methods neither worked. I phoned again and another representative told me she could have a tech come out the following day but it would cost me $75.00 or $39.00 a month to cover all appliances in the house. I told her absolutely not and informed her that I would not be purchasing anymore Kenmore products. Then out of curiosity I wondered how much the part would cost just to replace it and after researching on the internet the part was $60.00. So therefore I would have had a tech come out for $75.00 then probably charge me at least $100.00 for the part and to replace it, what a rip-off. Other customers please do research before falling for this scam.

We bought the appliances new in November 2014, and thankfully have an extended warranty which we bought through our builder. Sears initially refused to admit we had a warranty and wanted to charge us a 75.00 service fee plus parts and labor. After pulling out all paperwork and calling back to Sears they admitted we purchased the 5 year warranty. We are still waiting to see how the repair service goes. Love the brand. I have been a Kenmore customer since I moved out on my own. Both my parents and Grandparents were Kenmore lovers. I have had both washer and dryers as well as stove, microwave. I have never had the brand fail me. I have even purchased Kenmore appliances used due to their reliability and my inability to afford a new appliance. My fridge has even cooling. No warm spots. There is also more than enough room for all of my needs. The height is good, all my bottles and jugs fit upright, no laying things down so the contents can leak out. Its also easy to see what youre looking for. I like the ability to change my shelves to fit the needs, such as the holidays fitting all the pies, desserts and salads in and still having room for all the regular fridge items. However, I dont like the plastic shelf barriers. They should be metal. So if something is a bit large it just bulges instead of breaking. I dont care for shortness of the drawers. I thought they were longer so things like stalks of celery and bags of carrots fit without trimming them.

Last Monday night 11/06, while using the oven at 450 degrees, the glass in the oven door exploded and shattered. 3rd party technician arrived today for service appointment. Opened the door and confirmed the window was shattered (nice work genius) and informed me that it would take two additional weeks for the parts to arrive. In my opinion, if something this violent happens to a product, then I would say its defective. I want my defective stove to be replaced!I have spoke with exactly 10 Sears and Kenmore representatives today and have not received any assistance on the replacement of my defective stove. Even drove down to the store I purchased it from to seek some assistance... That was a useless waste of time! I have even had two representatives tell me that it usually takes seven or eight occurrences or service calls before they deem a product un-repairable and would consider replacing it. So... Kenmore and Sears would rather keep an appliance in service with risk to my family if the window decides to fully explode and shatter, rather than just replacing a range??? I have never experienced such a poor level of customer service as I have today. This is a perfect example of why the Sears Holding stock is only at $4.50 per share this morning and the fact that they are closing another 100+ stores. They treated me like I was some sort of thieve and all I was trying to do is replace a defective range to keep my family safe. What really blew me away!!! I told the last customer service person that Kenmore does NOT stand behind their quality or product! Freddies response was that Kenmore doesnt even produce or manufacture the ranges. They are made by Whirlpool and Kenmore slaps their brand name on the product. Freddie wasnt even fazed, almost like he didnt even care. Guess I wouldnt care either if I was working for a sinking ship!

There is room for everything and lots of ways to rearrange the shelves. I have not problem getting my largest pots and pans in to be washed. It is nice and sleek. The stainless steel appearance is gorgeous. It fits well with our other appliances. It is easy to clean and does not show much dirt to begin with. I think that the price was very reasonable. It wasnt the most expensive nor the cheapest dishwasher available. The price was right and we have gotten our moneys worth.

We splurged and purchased the Kenmore Elite Double Oven Model #79098023800 in 2009. It has worked fine and I have done self-cleaning on it several times over the past 3 1/2 years. However, since the last cleaning, the oven racks dont fit anymore and fall out of their grooves and this causes me great concern. I first thought it might be the racks that were the problem. I have an extra rack that came with the oven which I have not used in it since we bought it. When I tried that one, it too was too small and didnt sit safely within the grooves of the oven walls. I measured and compared it to the other rack and they were the same. Once I looked online, it appears that Im not the only one with this issue and it seems the oven walls have bowed out slightly and have created this problem. Having contacted Sears, they said they can send a tech out (at the cost of $75) to evaluate what my problem is and if and how it could be fixed. She said their system doesnt show that there is such a problem with their oven (or at least my model) and that quite often people blog about it but dont officially complain to the right department so they dont recognize the issue/hazard/problem. This is very concerning. I have three children in the house. I love to cook and bake, and Im now worried about the safety of my family and home. I have lived in a lot of houses over the past 30 years and have cooked/baked on up-teen amounts of ovens. Never and I mean never, have I seen this kind of problem. I find it hard to believe that Sears isnt aware that there is a manufacturing issue on some of their ovens! Shame, Sears, shame. You have officially lost a very dedicated consumer! And yes, Im going to complain to the right department. For anyone else who has this issue, please call Sears at 1 800 638 2772 and let them know so they cant claim that they have nothing in their systems regarding this issue!

Last year I purchased the Kenmore 73059 fridge from Sears to replace the 6 year old Kenmore French door fridge that I purchased from Sears that died. First of all, the water dispenser leaked. The tech blamed it on low water pressure in my home, but the old (6 year old) fridge didnt leak. Now, mere weeks out of warranty, the new fridge is dead. All customer service could say was, You know its out of warranty. You should have purchased one of our home warranties. Do NOT purchase Kenmore appliances. They are unreliable pieces of junk!!! And they do NOT stand behind their products. Oh, and the microhood (over-the-range microwave) I purchased 7 years ago needed a new magnetron at 51 weeks old (at least it was covered under the warranty). Note it has a bad humidity sensor (at 7 years old).

Less than one year after installing the Kenmore Elite Convection Microwave
Less than one year after installing the Kenmore Elite Convection Microwave (and the gas range), the plastic coating on the stainless steel handle began to disintegrate. We ordered a new PLASTIC stainless steel handle for about $80 but then Sears said a repairman would have to install the HANDLE because the entire door has to be disassembled and it needs to be tested afterwards to verify there is no leaking radiation. I am so incredibly disappointed in all of my kitchen appliances. Every one is only three years old now and all are breaking down due to cheap materials.

On 1-28-18 we bought a NEW Kenmore Elite Convection Oven with Warmer Drawer. also bought the Warranty Protection. Total sale $2,084.43. First one came damaged. March 2018 received the second one. Good shape, but the delivery guys left clear tape on the inside and left the oven on. When I opened the door the gasket pull off the oven. Took 2 service call to get one installed right. Glass Top is a pain in the butt to clean. You have to use Kenmore Cleaner. Nothing Else Works. Convection (Double Fan) is horrible. Bakes Terrible. No matter how much I try either things are way overdone or doughy in the middle. I hate it. I have had a convection oven for 17 years and I have loved every minute of it. Used convection at all time. Not with this oven! Its is just beyond me how it is so terrible. Sears repair guys came 5 times so far. Now the bottom drawer is rubbing on the underside of the oven where the heating element is. When the oven heats it is expanding the metal under the oven. Now they tell me it will be a Major Rebuild. I was told my a Warranty Supervisor (Alisha) that if the tech came out and confirmed that the problem was indeed what I was saying I would be issued a refund ticket for a new or different oven. Well now they (Milly a different Supervisor) are saying that in order to issue that the oven will have to go under the same repair 4 times in order for that to happen! So 2 repair guys will be coming this month and it will take 3+ hours to repair a defective oven at the cost of about $400.00. The repair guy said he has never done this before so he is bringing another guy with him. So yet another day interrupted by a Sears Repairman that should not even be repairing this oven. We should be able to return it for a full refund or an exchange. Oh and the repair guy first attempted to fix the drawer by bending the sides with a block of wood. Now the drawer is bent and the issue was never the drawer, but the bottom element causing the oven to warp downward against the drawer. It is worse than before he came! When the oven cools it pops back up. It is a factory defect and we should not be treated this way! I stopped using the convection after one repair guy reset it over 35 degrees upward. My cookies were burnt in 2.5 minutes and doughy in the middle. I reset it back to factory temp and gave up. The oven bakes fine at reg bake, but the convection part of it sucks! I have spent hours on the phone with Sears Warranty. I have gone through things like, We cant find your information, You didnt buy a new oven, lost information, complaints not being documented after they say they are writing it down on our account. Either they lie about their names or the next person lies about now knowing another Supervisor. I request a Supervisor and they stall and keep asking me how they can help me. Oh and if you call Sears Warranty and get a gal named Kathleen, just hang up and call again until you get a different person. She is the worst. She cant find anything. She cant type even your number in right. I have dealt with her enough to know just to hang up. If you tick her off shell say she is transferring you, but youll be disconnected.We are now considering loading up our oven on a dolly and taking it back to the Sears Showroom with all the receipts and demanding a refund. Wish us luck. DONT BUY FROM SEARS!!! We have been Sears customers since 1976 and loved them. Now they are the worst company ever! Customers are NOT important to them and neither is keeping their word! Warranty Persons Names to take note of: Kathleen, Milly and Alisha (who now doesnt exist according to Milly).

On Oct 30, 2014, the oven would not heat & a technician replaced the upper oven bake ignitor. Whew!...we thought. Lucky for us we had the extended warranty. But wait...on Feb. 9, 2015, with the extended warranty expired by about 2 1/2 months, the oven was turned on for use. While waiting for it to pre-heat, the oven started beeping wildly, then a terrible electrical burning smell flooded the house. My husband raced to the kitchen to see flames shooting out of the vents in the back. He managed to get the fire out and the gas turned off. The entire backside of wires was charred. We took photos & went to Sears where the Manager told us there was nothing he could do. He said it was up to the Service (1-800-4-MY HOME). We were incredulous that Sears does not have its own managers making these types of customer service decisions, but rather that the repair service to which they contact has that authority! I reminded him this was not a user error in that we did not set off a grease fire, but that the stove CAUGHT ON FIRE! We suggested that we thought Sears should take that very seriously, as a house fire could have resulted. He went on to repeat that Service would charge us to come out to verify & assess the damage & likely offer us no satisfaction. We previously bought appliances from Sears, but no longer. All our friends are incredulous that Sears is not replacing this stove.

Works very fast and gets clothes very clean provided you use the right soap. Made sure that the lines are connected correctly. This was an item I bought on eBay and found that it was worth the price. Bought it bundled with a dryer. Cleans my items every time without fail. Only became unreliable when the top started to rust so I called the washer repair guy and asked to have the rust taken off. Instead they replaced the entire top of the washer. Appearance remained great until the rust showed up. The rust made the top of the dryer get dark and brown and strange. The appearance fell apart at that point. It was strange to see my clothes not look so nice at that point. It was very cheap, only a few hundred dollars so I was okay with the item totally falling apart when it did despite the fact that it was inconvenient. The value for me was perceived in the amount of money that I ultimately did not spend.

I like the different cycle choices including the HE cycle. It also was very quiet for a dishwasher. They can be quite noisy so this was a nice surprise for us. Also, it wasnt too big but seemed to fit more dishes inside than you would think it would. However, it had some strange slits were you just couldnt fit larger dishes into that seemed like they should fit. I also didnt like a couple of things like it didnt seem to clean the dishes very well on any cycle and thats with us prewashing and pre-soaking. All in all, it was alright decision due to not very much money being spent at all. If I had paid full price, I wouldve been very disappointed with this unit.

This stove cannot maintain a temperature for more than 10 minutes before it begins a preheat function and it begins to try to come to temp by firing up the top and/or bottom heating elements effectively ruining any delicate baked goods like cookies or cakes. I will never ever buy a Kenmore product again. In addition even though they market a five element stove top, if you have 2 elements on high and the oven on, the entire unit blows the breakers and fuses (and it is not our wiring/breakers that are malfunctioning). Worst product ever!

The oven will no longer bake. The microwave when turned on has a lighting show in the side which I feel is very unsafe. The dishwasher coating has come off the racks and they are rusting badly. The dryer door will not latch because its broken and the start button has broken too. The washer leaks and keeps stopping in the middle of a cycle and flashing a code for some problem. And last but not the least, the fridges filter leaks. We have tried to contact Kenmore and no one will talk to us or help, and dealing with Sears is just a joke! My wife and I spent very good money on these products and dont feel we should have to replace them 4 years later or have to repair them. They are all Kenmore Elite products and for the money we spent, we think the company should stand behind their products and workmanship. Even a call back or just a response would be nice, but I guess this is a company where once they get your money theyre done with you. If theres any way someone could help us, that would be great. We just want to be able to cook and do laundry again like people with working appliances do. Thank you for your time.

After several calls to Sears I finally spoke to a corporate person who sent a repairman out at Sears expense. The Repairman said he could not fix the problem the oven walls were defective. The serviceman immediately called Sears from my home on his cell phone and I was offered 20% off a new oven if I purchased from Sears.I told the corporate person I would not accept that offer of 20% and that my oven is only three years old. It should last at least 15 years and would be talking to his supervisor on the next business day. I also told him I was going to seek legal advice, expose Sears through our local news station in the SF Bay Area if this issue was not resolved. Im shocked that this has taken so many phone calls and a service call and I still was offered 20% off a new oven and not a replacement oven. I have purchased numerous appliances through Sears and never received a run around such as this. This is a Health and Safety issue. I see other complaints such as mine online regarding wall ovens purchased through Sears. We should all seek legal help and expose Sears on the way they are handling their health and safety issues.

When turned on, the oven will go into preheat mode. Once the preheat temperature is reached, the preheat light goes off, but the upper element stays on. The upper element will not go off until the oven controls sense that something is wrong. By that time, the oven is extremely hot, and eventually shuts itself off with an F1 error. If anything is on the upper rack of the oven, it will start on fire due to the intense heat. Since the time of the first incident, the oven has not functioned normally.The internet is littered with complaints about this same Kenmore model. So, I can see that I am not the first customer to encounter this problem. The point is, there is a design problem with these ovens. Upon calling the Sears service number, I was advised of several plans. They told me I would have to pay a Sears tech to come and fix the oven. Needless to say, I bristled at the thought of paying to have something fixed that has a serious design flaw. This comes very close to saying that Kenmore put the design problem in so that they could fix and make a little extra money. As far as I am concerned, Sears/Kenmore should recall these ovens.

I called a repairman and a new one was ordered and replaced by him. Less than a year later, the unit failed again, so I sent the defective unit back to the provider and they sent me a replacement. This lasted less than a year again until 3-2013, only this time it blew the breaker (it never had done that before). Upon removing the back cover, I was horrified to find the oven plug that plugs into the control unit melted! I only can say Im glad it didnt start a fire. Fridge quit making ice within 6 years. Replaced wall oven with Kenmore Pro (another Frigidaire/Electrolux product). It had to be serviced within a year and is crapping out again but is now out of warranty. Sure dont make stuff like they used to. Rest assured that my replacements will not have those names attached. >$10,000 in 10 years time on appliances is pretty ridiculous. I gave them 2 stars because they are helpful and nice when I call for recall service.

We called for repair and were treated rudely and they would not re-order the same parts from last repair, so we had to wait for a tech on December 2. The tech came out. He was rude and not helpful. He didnt even inspect the oven. He said it was the computer board and ordered the part. We then had to wait for parts to arrive and schedule the next available appointment on December 11. The tech installed the board and the oven worked for 4 hours and broke again. We called customer service again and we were told that there was nothing he could do for us because it had not been 24 hours since the tech was at our house. He did say he would put a notation for the tech to call us the next day. No one called on December 12, so on December 13 we called again. The CSR finally agreed to order the parts without waiting for a service call, and scheduled the next available date for repair on December 21. We specifically said we did NOT want the same tech to come out. On December 21 we were quite shocked when the same tech showed up, was as rude as ever, refused to the install the board and only installed the igniter (which he failed to order on the first repair). All in all, my oven was broke for almost the entire month of December. I will NEVER make another appliance purchase from Sears again.

It would also be cool if it had an organizer with pictures on tablet so you just make a selection of what you want to cook for dinner. Then it just deposits it in slot in door and youre not letting cool air out. Moreover, it needs an ice maker, a larger freezer and drawers. And maybe add a safety measure by adding a child safety lock in handle and alarm if the doors are left open. Would even like a way to keep odor out of refrigerator so no one needs baking soda anymore or a self clean option for fresher smelling refrigerator. Maybe they can do bundle with kitchen items like refrigerator with dish rack or with another appliance. And maybe put deeper pan on bottom to catch water.But why are refrigerator so expensive? With these ideas Im sure it will be very expensive so I would recommend a discount of some sort and come down on price. But all in all I like this refrigerator very much. I love that its kind of roomy. You can put a lot of groceries in there without taking up all the space. It has met my expectations and surpassed all others. Would definitely refer this refrigerator to friends and family.

Occasionally, in the washer, a load will become unbalanced and because I am not strong enough to adjust the feet on the bottom, I just rearranged the clothes inside the washer to stop the loud banging noise. With the dryer, the only issue I have is that it seems that the heat sensor might be off a little because it feels to me like the dryer is always drying on a high setting not matter what setting I select. To deal with this on my delicate fabrics, I dry them on touch-up which is a somewhat cool setting. But I would say for owning these appliances for over 20 years, I am very satisfied with them.

It is also easy to keep clean and the stainless-steel surface doesnt smudge too badly. It blends in well with the other appliances and looks good. Once you use it a few times, you can figure out how to arrange it so that a full sink of dishes all fit. The top shelf doesnt have as much room as it should. Larger cups dont fit on the top and have to be hand-washed. But overall it was a decent value for the money.

I own the stainless steel one. It is very attractive and easy to clean with Windex and paper towels. I love the sleek modern look in my kitchen. It goes with any color on any other appliances you might own. It really looks like an expensive appliance but it was very reasonable price at my Sears store. It freezes very fast so food is not ruined and nothing has to be thrown out which saves you lots of money in the long run.

I was told by the service man that this is because there are no coils in the bottom of the new ovens so they take longer. What a pain!!!!! Please give me the old coils and let me preheat in 10 minutes!!! I then used the self cleaning feature. The heat was so intense (840 degrees) that it literally melted the resurfaced cabinets next to the oven. The repair technician said that this was very common for this oven, and that the salesman should have told us about this. Guess what - he didnt!!!! I now have to pay to repair my new kitchen. Sears would not. If you have resurfaced kitchen cabinets - stay away from Sears ovens!!!!

When the door is opened to place food inside, the glass tray begins to rotate all by itself, even before any cooking selection is made on the touch pad. There is also the sound of the fan running but the oven itself is off. Once the door is closed, it stops. After food cooks, I open the door to take out food and the glass tray and fan do the same thing. Tried unplugging the unit to see if that would reset it, didnt work. Still malfunctions.This is more Chinese junk with the Kenmore name! Sears makes huge profits by cheating its loyal customers and almost forcing us to purchase expensive service contracts. Ive been a Sears customer since 1992; now that will end. By the time I pay for repair of the 3 year old microwave, it would cost much more than the $160, that included the 2 year service agreement. You cant simply throw it away or place it in the recycle bin. Its only 3 years old! The Panasonic oven it replaced was 23 years old! What does that tell you about the quality of Kenmore products? We are making the Chinese rich while WE are forced to keep buying inferior products made by them.

I called the number on the manual and was told that someone could be scheduled to diagnose the problem for a fee of $149 and also that my refrigerator had only a one year warranty and I did not pay extra for extended service. I scheduled the appointment reluctantly. I had a local, and trusted for years, repairman come to take a look. He checked everything and related to the lights, looking at the tech sheet and online. It is determined that the part that is needed is $215 just for the part and it is on backorder with no projected date of arrival. My repairman also said that this specific refrigerator has a Tech Service Alert attached to it, meaning several people have had the same problem. BUT Kenmore does NOT back up their product. What ever happened to good companies backing up what they sell? I will never purchase a Kenmore product again. My purchase from SEARS this time included this refrigerator, a flat top stove and range hood and a dishwasher. The Samsung (another review I left here) stove had issues within the first two weeks and I was told that the stovetop wearing through in two weeks is considered a blemish and isnt covered.

The rep on the phone said, No worries ma’am, this is covered. I told him it was already out. Waited my 30 days, and filed a claim. They send out the same tech as Sears. He’s in the house 3 minutes, tops. Calls me to say they won’t cover it. Pre-existing condition. I’ve now paid for 2 service calls. And no working fridge still.I turn to Kenmore and reach out for help. I gave them 2 voices, either fix my fridge for free or replace with a comparable fridge to what I have. The man chose to repair it. Five phone calls later, Yes it’s in your file, diagnostic fee waived, no charges on parts and labor. But, yesterday, the tech calls wanting to know if I still want him there. He has no paperwork that there’s no charge. Mind you, Kenmore set this up and supposedly wrote notes. I called Kenmore. Oh yes, it’s right here, no charges. He says, I’ll send this over for your tech. Hours later, he don’t have this to come fix it. I call back. Now, this guy says he has no access to those notes and wants to transfer me to another department. I still have no working fridge. I’ve contacted 2 local tv stations to look into my story, and hopefully get it fixed. Buyer beware. Buy another brand, not a Kenmore Elite. It was priced just under $3000. Not worth it.

Then this Thanksgiving, Oct 2014, we had just about finished cooking our Thanksgiving dinner when we heard a buzzing noise and saw black smoke coming from the back to the range. We turned it off and the next day, turned the oven on, only to find that it did not work at all. The cooktop does work still. We called Sears only to be told that the warranty was expired and we were out of luck. So we took the range to a repair service, who told us that it would cost us at least $500.00 to fix the oven. This does not seem right, when our appliance is only four years old. Clearly there was a manufacturing defect. We cannot afford to buy a new range, or pay hundreds of dollars to fix this one, and we are asking Frigidaire, as the manufacturer, to stand behind your product. We have been without an oven for two months now, and that is not an easy thing at this time of year. Please respond and let us know that we can feel confident in our purchase. This stove is not only defective, but dangerous, and should be recalled.

Now the oven, it never has heated properly and when I went to use it, it made a loud humming noise, then when I went to use the broiler, the cooling fan you could hear, was scraping against the sides of something inside. Once again, Sears service was called, came out, had to order a new fan/motor. To access the fan/motor, they had to pull the unit from the wall, and in doing so, tore my wall up a little bit.When they sat it on the floor to work on it, they didnt put anything under it and there were major dents in my new luxury vinyl flooring. They got it repaired, re-installed it and it worked fine until yesterday. The microwave door handle is loose again also. I called Sears service yesterday and explained to them its doing the exact same thing it was when they were here before. The representative informed me it would be a service charge of something like $250.00/hr. I couldnt believe it-I told him its doing the same thing it did before. Their response- their repairs only have a 90 day warranty. I told him I wasnt paying for what obviously is a poorly designed appliance. I informed him I would contact my attorney. Bottom line- every mechanical and electrical device will have its issues over time, to me, its about how the manufacturer stands behind their product. Will not buy a Sears product again.

However had a spillover and decided to do the first self-clean. Range is 1 year and 8 months old. The error code came on flashing F-10 on the display. I hit the off button but the F-10 continued to flash. Turned off electric supply at the breaker. Never had a ring or anything other than the F-10 to alert me. By the time it cooled, I had done the research for troubleshooting which was very helpful through YouTube by a Sears technician. We learned there was probably a temperature sensor problem. We also learned how to test it and the control panel. After removing the back panel, we discovered they both were heat-damaged. Part of the control panel was blackened by fire. The odor that I smelled and thought was the cleaning, was the plastic around the panel and the elements within the control panel. Called Sears - they offered to send a technician that would cost $89, then of course it would need the parts. Didnt bother finding out what that would cost. Did not buy the extended warranty. Who would have thought that the first time you self-cleaned an oven it would catch something on fire!!! Very unsatisfied. We are going to attempt to fix it ourselves but we do not intend to ever purchase Kenmore again. Loved my KitchenAid that I had for years and only got rid of it because it was black and I wanted to change to white. Needless to say, we are angry. Dual convection fans but cooks uneven. Takes 20 min to come up to full temp if it’s at 400 and told by Sears service tech this is normal. My 20 year old Jenn-Air it replaced took 8 min to come up to 450. The front panel looks like hell after 1 year. My dog can swipe his nose across it and turn on burners. It’s a safety hazard as done it when a towel was on the burner. The top glass if you look at it wrong it will scratch. I use aluminum bottom Swiss diamond pots and pans never made a mark on the Jenn-Air and this thing looks worse now after 2 years than my 20 year old glass did on the old stove that had cast iron used on it now and then. This is the finest Chinese garbage ever made. You just cannot buy a quality product anymore no matter what you pay. I tried to get the glass replaced and fix the stove and no luck. I will never buy another Sears/Kenmore product ever again and go out of my way to tell others how poor of a product this really is. Had the Jenn-Air not got the top smashed when I put it out in the shed it would be back in place of this piece of junk and be outside with a big sign on it saying how terrible Sears products and service is now. No wonder Craftsman tools went to Lowe’s and no wonder Sears is now barely above water. Done with them completely. I should have learned my lesson on the terrible Elite dishwasher we have and all the issues with that thing but tried to give them another chance as back 20 years ago products from them lasted forever compared to other brands.

Of course being electric, it does turn itself on and off but that just regulates the temp of the element not your pan. Hard to keep clean especially if you spill something that has sugar in it, like bbq sauce, and it burns on as you still have to cook and burner takes a while to cool. I grew up using gas stove/oven at home. Upon moving around, I have come to get used to electric and when glass tops came along, I really wanted one. I am over it now. Ready to get gas back.

This requires an electrician and an extra charge that is Kenmore specific. The first set of ovens did not work at all. After paying the additional cost for the change the ovens were installed and they did not work. The installer could do nothing and I had to call for a repair. I requested a new set of oven and after a week or two receive a new set. Within 6 month I noticed the doors on the ovens would not close properly and that the calibration was off. I requested another set again to no avail. To date I have had 2/3 additional service calls for the ovens for the same problem. I have requested a new set or satisfaction each time. The most recent repair was in July 2016. Now Nov 26, 2016 they are saying the problem is no longer under warranty for the repair or the extended warranty I purchased. The customer service center has had problems scheduling, sending two repair people or say there is no appointment and then a repairman shows up anyway. This happens even with confirmations and secondary verifications.There was a time when the Sears brand stood for quality, and great customer service. Those days are no more. I purchased a full suite of appliances for a gourmet kitchen with the Kenmore Elite Brand and the two most expensive items, the fridge and the double ovens have had significant problems and repairs. I have been loyal to Sears and so as my family making it a tradition for over 30 years of my adult life. My parent bought Sears as did my entire family but NO MORE! I will exhaust my points and the boycott will begin. We will NEVER purchase anything from Sears again nor will we recommend the store or their products.

The unit was supposed to be for propane and the box was mark so, so I took it home and hooked it up. It started right up and ran fine for three months, then stopped working. After some head wringing, I found the cause and a reset button by the thermo coupler, rest it and it didnt work on the light setting, have to put it on low now to light. Noticed the top of the flame was a bright orange, an indication it was a gas heater, not propane, then noticed the units tag says gas only. I went back to store and they refused to help me saying, We didnt install it so were not helping you, they also refused to order, or supply me with a conversion kit for l.p. and referred me to a local hardware store, who told me it was an item we had to get through Sears.I tried looking up for the conversion kit on their site myself, but their website wont correctly search for the item, I either got ceiling fans or something else. I tried using their online assistant and they kept trying to look up for the wrong parts, and didnt know how to look them up either.

Flimsy electronics on 7131 gas range - You know its bad when you have to glue your range together with epoxy to cook! I used my range about 5 times over the span of 2 years in my farmhouse when the electronics module broke off and fell back into the range. When I opened the back up, I found that the control panel was installed with 4 tiny plastic ears that were way too fragile to use in a kitchen appliance. Since my warranty had expired, I just glued some bent aluminum to the sides of the control electronics and put it back in. It works, but in all my days as an electrical engineer, I have never seen something so flimsy that is supposed to work for the life of a product. Someone needs to know this.

We purchased our Kenmore stove Model #790.97453804 in June 2010 and until this weekend everything ran smoothly. Just as we had finished dinner the outer glass on the oven door exploded!! Glass blew out about 3 ft. all over the kitchen floor. Our grandson had just walked past the door. This could have been far worse than it was. A visit to Sears on Sunday proved futile as, you guessed it, they had not heard of this happening and didnt know this type thing could happen. Luckily I had taken pictures of everything as proof & showed them. All they did was provide phone numbers, which I called. They could only schedule a service call. I checked the internet for any recalls on this particular model and found none. So we bought another stove but it was NOT a Kenmore. No more Kenmore appliances for our family.

August 2015, I purchased a Kenmore Elite Convection Oven MODEL #970C693832. Its a beautiful oven which came with a major problem. The red flag should have been noted when it was delivered, and the glass control panel fell off; this was before it was even brought into my kitchen. I asked them to return it, and we got a new one a week later. Three months in, the same thing happened again; the glass control panel fell off. I called Sears, and they sent a technician to fix it with a new control panel. The technician mentioned to me that the only thing holding the control panel is glue. When the oven is in use, every time I use my oven, the glue is melting away. Theres no frame to support it, when the glue melts off. How is this even safe? Last week, the same problem happened again, the glass control panel fell off. I called Sears again.Today, a technician from Sears came in to check it out and will be fixing it again with a new control panel. So until he comes back, and fixes it, I have to use tape to hold up the control panel in order to use the oven. Luckily, its still under the extended warranty, but I cant keep calling Sears to replace the control panel every time the glue melts. Instead of sending a technician to fix the same problem, Sears should replace this appliance because this problem will happen again, and they know it. This oven is not good, and I would never recommend it. Sears should do its part and make sure they are selling their customers good appliances that they can rely on. I am very disappointed with my appliance from Sears, and I wish Sears would make good appliances with top-of-the-line materials and parts. Sears needs to do a quality check assurance on their appliances before they go on the market. We as customers cannot afford to expend so much money on products that either dont last, or have problem with their parts.

I preferred the appearance of the units that were in my price range and this Kenmore refrigerator has lived up to my expectations. It has fit its needs and use well. The size is convenient for my kitchen space, the door bins are much larger than standard refrigerators which is great for holding Juice bottles and such, I also like the see through shelves which make it easier to spot things in the fridge. But I would like better manufactured motor parts that are higher quality and do not burn up too easily. I would also make the shelves a bit easier to take out as sometimes it is a struggle to line up the tabs properly.

I’m very satisfied with with the outcome of this stove. The only thing is that after this long time of usage it tends to make an odd sound when it is overheated. It sounds like a fan blowing. Otherwise it works very well.

Kenmore Elite dual oven Electric Range Model 790. Purchased this stove in late 2009. Within months, the touch sensors on the back panel would work only intermittently. Called Sears to have repairs made to my new stove and they walked us through pressing lots of buttons on the display board to reset it. Problem persisted, but didnt have the time/energy to look into it further. Months later, the top oven stopped working correctly. Not sure what happened, but anything we cooked was raw on top and burned to a crisp on the bottom. A few more calls later to their service department where, once again, they walked us through the process of turning the top oven on to as hot as it would go. Recording the temperature using a thermometer we had to place in the oven, turn the oven down, wait for it to cool down, record the temp, etc., etc.Again, we gave up and decided my time is more valuable than a working top oven and had already spent HOURS on the phone being shuffled around from department to department (Warranty Dept, Customer Service, Customer Solutions, Home Warranty, back to customer Service where I was transferred incorrectly back to Home Warranty...). So, we lived with an intermittently working board and now a clearly improperly heating top oven. BUT - we didnt buy the extended warranty so we were now out of luck since a year has since passed.Fast forward three blissful (not) years with this piece of crap oven and we start to notice that the racks in the bottom oven seem to be very loose. Hmmmm. Take all racks out, rearrange them thinking that perhaps they have designated slots in which each rack fits, but they all seem to have the same problem. On the phone to Customer Service we go... And again we are transferred all over the organization until finally we land upon a person that might be able to help me. IF we are willing to pay $280 for a service contract upon which they will send a tech out to make repairs up to $500. If I dont want to go that route, I could always sign up for a Home Warranty ($55/month for 1yr contract or $35/month for 1yr contract for appliances) OR a Service Smart Agreement - again for repairs UP TO $500. After that, I pay for it... Oh yeah, I had to pay either a $90 or $60 service call each time a tech came out.At this point, my life is getting shorter and shorter and I decide I cant spent any more time being dragged around by the nose by Sears any longer and wave the white flag - until one day, I leaned down (to the floor, because this is where the bottom oven is) to lift a roast out of the oven and the racks suddenly collapse spraying bubbling, scalding juice all over the front of my arms, chest and legs. The oven walls seem to be expanding every time we turn this thing ON! Im now down to ONE rack in the bottom oven, a non-functional top oven (unless you like your cookies and biscuits raw on the top and charred on the bottom) and an intermittently working sensor - that, by the way, I rely on to use the top burners. If I could give this stove - and Sears Customer Service (Im looking at you, Cheryl) negative stars, I would.I tried today to give it one more go at getting this thing serviced by Sears since the aluminum foil that Ive had to wrap around the sides of the racks in the oven (so that they will take up some space and not collapse on me under the weight of a casserole dish) is going to need to be beefed up soon, but it was once again fruitless. I spent HOURS on the phone going through the merry-go-round of transfers from one department to another and in the end, spoke with NINE different people in different departments until I ended with the above esteemed Cheryl in Customer Solutions who listened patiently to my story (which, by this time I had been a little sick and tired of reiterating) and went on to tell me that since I hadnt purchased an extended warranty through them that I was out of luck.Really? Even though my first call to complain about this happened within months of owning it - when it was under the one year warranty? Again, she called to my attention that I never even had a service person out to my house. Yeah, no kidding Cheryl, because they had ME to do the work for them - which I did, by spending hours over the phone pressing this button, relaying the info to the tech on the phone, pressing that button, relaying the info. etc, etc. Sears did a really good job of stringing me along long enough that I was out of warranty and they could wash their hands of the whole thing.For generations, my family has been die-hard Sears appliance customers and have always had excellent products and service. That is a thing of the past. Get you in, sell you the appliance, and get you to spend even MORE money on a warranty. God knows one shouldnt expect a $2000 stove to last longer than a year... Ill be buying my appliances locally from here on out.

When they woke the next morning, the oven was very clean but now the stove top will not heat. I told them to unplug the thing until they can make sure that is not a hazard to operate. After all these complaints I am shocked to see so many customers having problems with the Kenmore ranges. My mother always bought Kenmore and when I bought my first and all homes since have been furnished with Kenmore and Whirlpool appliances. So sad to see that Sears is losing their special touch! Sears was always known for their customer service and customer satisfaction! Now with my parents thousands of miles away, I have to worry about their appliances blowing up.
