Kenmore Range Repairs
If you're looking for help fixing your Kenmore Range, look no further! Our comprehensive Kenmore Range repair guide will explain common issues, provide tips, and maybe show you how to repair your appliance.
For the home, kitchen and beyond, Kenmore manufactures appliances that homeowners have come to trust. Even a trustworthy appliance requires occasional maintenance or repair, however. If you’re in need of Kenmore appliance repair from experienced professionals, your local Appliance Helper can help.
My Kenmore Oven is Not Heating
Igniter. The igniter is the most commonly defective part for an oven not heating. The igniter has two main functions. First, the igniter draws electrical current through the oven safety valve to open it. Second, the igniter gets hot enough to glow and ignite the gas in the oven burner. If the igniter gets weak, it will fail to open the safety valve correctly. If the valve does not open, the oven will not heat. To determine if the igniter is defective, observe the igniter when the oven is on. If the igniter glows for more than 90 seconds without igniting the gas flame, this indicates that the igniter is too weak to open the valve. If the igniter is weak, replace it. If the igniter does not glow at all, use a multimeter to test the igniter for continuity. If the igniter does not have continuity, replace it.
Kenmore Oven doesn't bake evenly
Bake Element. If the bake element is burned out, the oven will only be heated by the broil element. This will cause the oven to heat unevenly. When the bake element is heating properly, it glows red hot. If the element does not glow red, this indicates that the element is not heating. Often, if the element has burned out, it will be visibly damaged. Inspect the bake element for holes or blisters. To determine if the bake element has burned out, use a multimeter to test the element for continuity. If the bake element does not have continuity, replace it..
Kenmore Oven broiler not working
Broil Element. The broiler element may have burned out. When the broil element is heating properly, it glows red hot. If the element does not glow red, this indicates that the element is not heating. Often, if the element has burned out, it will be visibly damaged. Inspect the broil element for holes or blisters. To determine if the broil element has burned out, use a multimeter to test the element for continuity. If the broil element does not have continuity, replace it.
Kenmore Stove heating element not working
Surface Element Board. The surface element board has relays that regulate the power supply to the burners. If one or more of the relays fails, the surface element won’t work. If two or more burners fail at the same time, this indicates that the surface element board is likely at fault. If only one surface element won’t work, use a multimeter to test the element for continuity. If the surface element has continuity, the surface element board might be defective.
Kenmore Stove burner won't light
Spark Module. The spark modules provides power to each surface burner spark electrode. If the burner is produces a weak spark, or if the burner sparks intermittently, the spark module might be defective. Before replacing the spark module, first check the spark electrode and the spark wire. If the spark electrode and spark wire are not at fault, the spark module is likely defective. If the spark module is defective, replace it.
Kenmore Oven temperature not accurate
Bake Element. When the bake element is heating properly, it glows red hot. If the element does not glow red, this indicates that the element is not heating. Often, if the heating element has burned out, it will be visibly damaged. Inspect the heating element for holes or blisters. To determine if the bake element has burned out, use a multimeter to test the element for continuity. If the bake element does not have continuity, replace it.
Kenmore Oven light is out
Light Assembly. If the oven light is out, the entire light assembly may need to be replaced. Often the light assembly components are not sold separately.
My Kenmore Stove Oven's Not Working
Bake Element. When the bake element is heating properly, it glows red hot. If the element does not glow red, this indicates that the element is not heating. Often, if the heating element has burned out, it will be visibly damaged. Inspect the heating element for holes or blisters. To determine if the bake element has burned out, use a multimeter to test the element for continuity. If the bake element does not have continuity, replace it.
Kenmore Oven not self-cleaning
Door Lock Motor and Switch Assembly. During the oven's self-cleaning cycle, the door lock switch activates the door lock motor to prevent the oven door from being opened. If the door lock motor and switch assembly is defective, the oven door will not unlock once the self-cleaning cycle is complete. On most ovens, you can open the oven door by removing certain screws or panels. Check your owner's manual for further instructions.

I purchased a Kenmore glass top range ten years ago. It had everything that I wanted from a self cleaning feature, warming drawer, warming stove top burner to name a few. However, the first thing I had a problem with was the screws to the door handles were in constant need of tightening, then the area around the front of the handle cracked. I use my oven less than 6 times a week on average and only once a day.The other day, while waiting for my oven to preheat, there was an explosion, the door flew open and the inside of the oven was on fire. We managed to get it under control without having to call 911. And we were able to shut the oven off at the stove top (reading other reviews, people had to shut it off at the breaker). My house was full of smoke. Needless to say, I am in shock and horror over this situation. I cant for the life of me figure out why this happened. What if I were using the self cleaning mode? The oven would have been on lock!!! So I guess it would have blown the door off?I will not consider repairing the oven, nor will I consider another Kenmore appliance of any kind. I had also purchased a Kenmore dishwasher which never washed the dishes that well from the start and parts were cheaply made. We replaced that in 5 years time. I resent spending my hard earned money on junk that doesnt function well when you have it and it has to be replaced every 5 years. I have a 30 year old fridge in my basement and never had an issue with it - which is the way it used to be. You replaced those items because you wanted to update style and technology - not because it caught on fire and potentially could have burned the house down. What is more disturbing is that there are plenty of the same complaints on here about the fires and nothing has been done about it.
It is an awesome product and is very easy to clean. Wipes down easily. Temperature Tunes down right away. And the oven works really well. I have always loved this brand. They are fairly inexpensive. And they never disappoint.
I bought an entire kitchen of Kenmore Elite top-of-the-line appliances in March 2009. My refrigerator has been nothing but problems since I bought it. It had issues with freezing everything, fruit, milk, meat, anything inside, it would freeze, and Sears came out 3 times, with 3 different fixes. Finally, one of them worked. All were covered under warranty. Then, the motherboard in the fridge went out. Sears came out and fixed that. Last year, a month out of my 3-year extended warranty, the motherboard of the fridge went out again. I called Sears, they would not warranty something they replaced, so not wanting to give them anymore of my money, I called another repair company to fix it. I now have new problems with the refrigerator. My freezer sliding door is broken and drawer doesnt open more than 5 inches and in my fridge the ice/water machine is frozen shut, with cold air constantly blowing out of the flap on the door where ice comes out. I called Sears, as another service company came out and didnt think they would be able to repair it. Sears came out, and the drawer is $330 for the part and repair plus the service call fee, and the door they couldnt even get open to fix or recommend a fix, other than saying the door would need to be replaced and its very expensive and might not fix the problem. I paid over $3000 for this KENMORE ELITE - their top brand - and the day I bought this appliance, I also bought a dishwasher, double oven, and microwave, all Kenmore ELITE, spent over $10,000, with the extended warranty on all the products and now I might have to replace my fridge again, due to their might not be able to fix the drawer in the freezer. Sears doesnt care to keep customers happy. I will never buy a product from that store again.
Our 6-year old Kenmore 790 electric range made a pop noise and began emitting acrid electrical smoke the other night (2/26/2015). A repair person was dispatched today and we were told that the range requires $575 worth of repairs, which cannot be performed until March 10th. At that point we will have been without an oven or stove for nearly 2 weeks. I am absolutely furious that after just a little research, I find that Sears has been selling a faulty piece of junk. Had I not been in the room to turn off the oven, pull it away from the wall and unplug it, the stupid piece of crap could have burned down my house!!!! I am filing a complaint with CPSC and will make sure that I spread the word every place I can to ensure that everyone knows that Sears is selling a lemon. Not. Cool.
It was the better of the dishwashers I have owned. It was not needful to even rinse the dishes well, only scrape them good. I wish I had bought the same model again when it wore out and needed replaced. I was married with four children. We almost always could get all the dishes and pans into the dishwasher and then some. I was always very happy about this as I hate washing any dishes by hand. Im not one to really care about the way an appliance looks most of the time, but I did like this one especially as it matched my stove and refrigerator. They were Kenmore also :) It was a very good value as it did the job very well and lasted many years even through such a large family and much mistreatment by so many children trying to do their chores.
I have been using this product for over a year now and it has been working very efficiently. When I load the dishes, the washer removes all food and stains in minutes and makes the dishes like plates, spoons and even big vessels absolutely clean. It states that it removes 99.99% bacteria while washing them. The dishes do not feel wet when I remove them. They are very dry and I do not need to wipe them with a cloth. It is larger in capacity than my previous dishwasher even though it looks smaller. There is plenty of room on the top rack for tall glassware and the top tray lifts and lowers for bigger pots. The sleek, nondescript stainless steel finish allows it to go with pretty much any brand of appliance that you may have in the rest of the kitchen. The top buttons are aesthetically pleasing. It looks good in my kitchen. This dishwasher was an excellent value and beat all other dishwashers in its price range. It has great price and it looks like it should have cost more.
Great working gas stove and oven. It has been good to me and bakes very well. I have owned it for over 9 years and only had to replace the control panel one time. It seems very solidly built and visually appealing.
It took me 2 years to get my oven fixed after I moved into my new house. I put up with what I now call customer abuse from Sears which included the franchise owner calling me a idiot for calling the 800 number in case of malfunction to the oven. Sent off for repairs 3 times for weeks. A young repair boy came to the house and told me it could not be fixed and when I slapped papers that I was holding down on the kitchen table he claimed I had assaulted him. And when Sears finally sent out another repairman a year later, it was the same boy and I refused him entry into my house! Finally a local repairman replaced the motherboard and it has worked well until it simply blew up today.I will never ever again in my life buy anything... absolutely nothing! From Sears ever again! It is overpriced junk made in a foreign country. They are bleeding every penny they can get from a name that use to mean quality, workmanship, and service. They cannot even be civil to customers anymore. I would not buy a speck of dust from them. If there was. Rating lower than one dot, that is the rating I would give Sears for anything! My one dot does not mean I am angry.... it means Sears is a rip-off company now.
Kenmore Household Microwave 790.80373310 - Ive had this unit for exactly two years. Never had a moments problem. Its an over the stove model and the other day I was running the fan on low while boiled eggs. After I was done, I noticed a smell of something being hot. I ignored it but when I went to shut off the fan it wouldnt. I tried several times but finally I unplugged it and pulled it back in. The fan shut off but I smell was stronger. An hour later I went to use the microwave and found that then plastic turntable inside as well as the smaller turntable had gotten so hot it turned from red to black and MELTED! Keep in mind, the only thing that was running was the fan when this happened. I tried to call Sears and was just given the runaround. Its two years old! It could have burned down my house if Id left it alone. Im horrified about this situation.
My mother is a veteran of WWII but may be defeated by her Sears Kenmore oven. She has a model 790 in wall oven which is an obvious lemon. It will frequently fail to complete a cycle (shuts off before cooking is done) and has ruined several batches of food. The problem appears to be a computer control module. While I was there over the thanksgiving holiday it abruptly locked up (as though about to go into self clean mode) with the holiday turkey inside. Fortunately we were able to locate the plug and unplug the thing (which still did not unlock the oven, but at least the dinner was not incinerated). We were worried about a fire and are grateful that it did not happen while we were out of the room. She has had at least four failures in the last year, but since the problem is intermittent (only once was it still malfunctioning when the tech arrived) it cant be verified for warranty replacement. The available service calls are limited to two days a week by the company Sears contracted with, so almost impossible to get the problem solved. Calls to Sears for repairs are often unreturned. Parts are apparently hard to come by (the control module was replaced, for example, but the part was ordered in February, arrived in August). Really disappointed in Sears... I was raised as a Sears customer, but am alienated by the way they treated my mom and disgusted by the drop in reliability. Used to think I could count on them, but no more.
I have had no problems with the refrigerator I bought at Sears. I have had the refrigerator for over 2 years now, and am very satisfied with its operation. It is the three-door model with the freezer on the bottom. I will have to say if you are older, like myself, you would probably do better by getting one with the freezer located in a different place. I find it difficult to bend over or kneel for a period of time to locate something in the freezer. Other than this self-inflicted problem, I would have to say that the Kenmore refrigerator has proven to be an excellent choice.
Kenmore Elite model 790 789 02000 - Bought a 5 year old home - oven not working - $495.00 to repair. Needs 1 ignitor, 1 controller, main PCB to be replaced. This was only a summer cabin, oven seldom used and its broke already. Will have to wait to repair or buy new as still have 2 Mtg.
It washed my really dirty dishes to make them spotless with no water spots. Made absolutely no sound whatever. Was very quiet. Didnt shake at all. The dishwashers size was very big. It held many of my dishes. I always had room. Very nice. A few words to describe it was spacious and big. The washers appearance was very nice and sleek with a professional shine to add to it. I personally loved the way it looked same with any other of this brands dishwashers. The value was really great of the dishwasher because the price was in my price range and I had no problem with the cost because it was a very fair price I loved.
The range is not bad for the price. It would be nice if it offered a little more room in the oven. It would also be nice if you could get a good peek inside the oven without having to open the door all the time.
Kenmore model # 79092803013 electric range oven started smelling plastic burn every time I turned on the oven. Well, I should have turned it off but I didnt. Thanks to God it didnt cause any major damages including fatalities. The baking and broiling elements stopped working and decided to open the back panel of the range. To my surprise the control board and the harness was burned and melted until changed to complete black. They should have recalled their products knowing their safety issues. The sad thing is all my appliances are Kenmore. I will never buy their products again. Be Aware!!!
They came with my house and were 8 years old. 6 years later they are still working great. I have a Kenmore fridge, microwave, electric stove, dishwasher, electric washer and dryer. I would highly recommend these products to home buyers who want quality products that will last. I have not had to call a repairman for any of these products. When it finally comes time to replace these appliances I will replace them with Kenmore products because of how great my current appliances have been.
The oven racks of my Kenmore model 790.36723603 fall off the middle tracks. This is not an isolated occurrence. Many people are complaining of the same problem online. It appears that the oven walls are bowed due to the extreme heat of the self-cleaning cycle. It is obviously a safety issue when removing hot food. These ovens should be recalled or repaired at the expense of Sears due to a manufacturer error. Sears is not taking responsibility, only suggesting the purchase of new racks.
I bought sears Kenmore Elite appliances and have recommended to many people to do so as they support veterans. After a little less than 2 years my ceramic top just cracked for no reason. I had my normal cleaning product which I use every night on the stovetop and when I wiped it the next morning it was rough so I thought something had spilled there. Not so! There was a huge crack (like a spider web) thru the entire right side. When I told sears the person said to me, thats what happens if you dont buy the extended warranty! I will continue to fight this obvious manufacturers error!
I believe after viewing so many refrigerators and going to different places to check out, we were impressed with the Kenmore Refrigerator brand. I also checked out other brands and reviews but the Kenmore refrigerator by far was equipped better and the price was in the range we were going to spend. Their refrigerators also had good reviews and we liked the look. The Kenmore Refrigerator stuck out as the one we wanted to purchase. The features were great. It was set up easy to clean and it has a great icemaker.
We purchased our Kenmore stove Model #790.97453804 in June 2010 and until this weekend everything ran smoothly. Just as we had finished dinner the outer glass on the oven door exploded!! Glass blew out about 3 ft. all over the kitchen floor. Our grandson had just walked past the door. This could have been far worse than it was. A visit to Sears on Sunday proved futile as, you guessed it, they had not heard of this happening and didnt know this type thing could happen. Luckily I had taken pictures of everything as proof & showed them. All they did was provide phone numbers, which I called. They could only schedule a service call. I checked the internet for any recalls on this particular model and found none. So we bought another stove but it was NOT a Kenmore. No more Kenmore appliances for our family.
I bought this over the range microwave from Sears a couple of years ago. I thought that 1000 watts would be plenty. However most food that you buy for the microwave directions, usually state 1100 watt ovens. The food doesnt seem to stay hot as long as food cooked on the range or in a conventional oven.
About 2 years ago I bought the full elite kitchen appliances. BIG MISTAKE! Few months after installation of all appliances the dishwasher didnt clean well. Called for service. The idiot that came said my dishes were too clean then the fridge was leaking water by the water dispenser and another idiot said maybe we close it too hard then the double oven trapped moisture between the glass and the third idiot said because we are by the beach and its cold outside and the oven is hot - so the worst appliances service and all. I will never ever buy anything from sears ever again.
We purchased a Kenmore wall oven in late 2012. Recently we used a heavy pot and the middle and lower rack fell down. Sears service came and stated that the walls are too thin and bent when there is weight on the racks... a design problem. They wanted us to buy new wall parts - with the same design problem - to replace the existing wall parts.
I bought a Kenmore stove August 2013 for close to $1,000. This week as my husband was standing in front of it (luckily) there was a puff of smoke out the back and it stopped working. We were told by Sears that they could send out a repairman for $240. My husband removed the digital controls and you can plainly see the part that caught fire. He took it to our local Sears and the manager said it would not have been covered under warranty anyway because all that covers is the drive train of the stove. Basically the shell, since this isnt a car we are talking about. He said he could order the part for $109 and it would take 5-7 days to come in. We told him we thought Sears should cover that cost and they would not. In the past 20 years we have completely furnished two kitchens from Sears in an attempt to keep the company afloat. I will never buy anything from them again. I hope when the customer service people - wherever they are - get their pink slips, they see that I have signed them.
This is third Kenmore oven electric s/c. First one went into self-clean on its own, nearly burned the house down and completely charred the whole oven. Second one had two major board failures, resulting in the third. This one may or may not respond to control inputs. No more Sears stuff, ever.
Purchased a complete suite of appliances for my new kitchen 4 years ago. Major failure on the $3,800 fridge after 13 months, water pump, (2) door hinges and silverware basket on dishwasher, complete replacement of microwave and 5 repairs on the double wall oven. COMPLETE GARBAGE. WILL NEVER BUY KENMORE AGAIN!
My 1.8 year old water heater started producing water that is too hot. So, I turned the thermostat setting to Low. Still getting temps of as high as 147 - 157 F. Concerned that grandkids may get burned. If I adjust the setting even a little bit below Low, the temp drops to 92F. Note: Owners manual says Low setting should produce 110F water. Factoring in the possibility of short repeated heating cycles causing expected readings of 20F higher, it is still producing water 10-17F higher than expected with no ability to lower the temp without dropping too much (92F).2May17 - Sears Technician diagnosed and ordered gas control valve (thermostat). 10May17 - Sears Technician installed new valve. Would not start. He conferred with Sears and AO Smith tech support staff. They determined that the valve must be defective. Ordered new valve. Next morning I (the customer) tried heater once again. It worked fine, but produced same hot temps as before.15May17 - Sears technician returned. I shared my temp readings with him. He contacted Sears & AO Smith tech support. They concluded that gas valve was working properly. They rationalized that the problem was related to stacking (short heat cycles). I pointed out that even if we allow an additional 20F for that, it is 10-15F too high with no ability to lower the temperature to a proper range. They suggested installing a mixing valve and checking single handed faucets to see of having any cross-over issues (i.e. turn on cold but still pulling hot water). Closed call but told technician intended to register a product complaint with Sears/AO Smith but I was very satisfied with his service/help. Total labor cost for Service Call: $209. Original cost of heater install $1215.
The racks in my oven started to fall off the supports on the side of the oven, dumping my casseroles, turkeys, roasts etc. I noticed it for the first time the first Christmas that I was roasting a heavy turkey and when I leaned in to remove the turkey; the rack collapsed under the roasting pan, spraying hot turkey fat all over the oven, the floor and me! I assumed I had done something wrong such as put the wrong rack in the wrong position. It continued to happen whenever I cooked something heavy until 3 years later everything I try to cook causes the racks to collapse. A service technician verified what I suspected. The oven body has expanded (probably because of inferior materials). I can no longer use my 3 year old oven and Sears as well as Electrolux (the manufacturer) refuse to do anything about it as I did not purchase an extended warranty. I will never purchase Kenmore appliances again!!!!
My Kenmore is from 1974. My oven door squeaks a little and the knobs lettering is mostly worn off but I still love it. However, I can’t find parts for it.. Like new knobs, I’ve looked on several sites. It has a griddle in the middle which I love. It takes a lickin and keeps on tickin... Lol.
I purchased the double oven range in 2006. Since that time I have continued to experience problems with the main board electrical panel. It has continued to malfunction by going completely blank, beeping randomly, not allowing buttons to be pressed, turning off while in mid-cook and more issues of inconvenience. I have had service on my range performed by Sears-certified technicians several times and the issue continues to re-occur. Service dates and costs issues include: June 30th 2014 - main board electrical panel replaced for a total cost of $413.12 August 27th 2014 - main board electrical panel replaced. November 4th 2014 - main board electrical panel replaced. December 10th 2014 - main board electrical panel replaced and broiler burner fixed.Since that time I have continued to experience the same problem with the main board electrical panel. The range has again begun to malfunction to the point where it has become nearly inoperable. I have recently called Sears-certified technicians and was informed that there was nothing they could do and I would again need to pay $400-$500 for a service visit and part to repair the same issue again.Given the multiple issues with the same part, I feel there is a defect either with the parts or with my specific range that should be repaired or replaced without any additional costs from the consumer. I purchased a top of the line oven and have continued to experience the same problem even after multiple attempts of repair and additional money that has been put into a unit that should still be working properly.
After building a new house, we decided to get a nice stove and bought the Kenmore Elite 790, plus Kenmore microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator (all stainless). The stove has been a disappointment ever since. Top burners seem to have very little control. Oven has never worked right. Sometimes when baking, it switches to broil and burns food. Sometimes when it switches, it overheats and an error code displays. Sometimes, you put on bake, and the broiler comes on. Yesterday, the inner burner of the triple burner quit working. Besides that, we have only had to replace the control panel on the dishwasher. I think I would prefer non-electronic controls on stoves and dishwashers; older stove controls lasted forever. Anyway, my next stove will not be a Kenmore. Spend all that money on that piece of junk.
We bought top loading high efficiency low water washer SN C54547545 in July 2016. It took a lot longer to wash a load. This year 2019 it started acting strange. The clothes were too wet and I’d drain/spin again. Checked the troubleshooting section-nothing worked. My husband put clothes in dryer while I was out and the load was too heavy, causing my dryer to burn up. Now I’m looking to buy both. Washers should last longer than 3 years!
I am really happy with my Kenmore. It is a trusted name and its a great appliance to own. I bought it because it was affordable and easily obtainable in all income ranges. It had a great appearance too. It has had many looks and works well. I like the style and appearance of it. It is perfect the way it is. Please don’t change it and hike the price up. Affordability is most important. I’ve had it a long time and would purchase again if the need arises.
I purchased a Kenmore Elite ceramic counter top stove in 2008, model 970-698432. It has an extended warranty until 2013. When we first received the stove, one of the elements would not turn off. I had to flip the switch on the breaker to turn off the stove. It took 2 weeks to fix because no parts were available. The tech had to remove the necessary parts from the display model in the store. On August 26, my wife placed a pot of water on the stove to boil. A few minutes later, she heard a loud cracking noise. When she went to the stove, she noticed a large crack in the counter top. We called Sears call center and made an appointment for repairs to be made. Without going into great detail, the repair date was set back 5 times. They finally informed us that the part was not due until October 26. The part arrived earlier than expected and the repairs were done on October 18. When the tech inspected the top, he informed me that the crack was not a thermal break but rather an impact break, meaning something was dropped on the stove. I told him that nothing was ever dropped on it, and that there are no signs of an impact on the top. He showed me some spider lines from the bottom of the top. And he told me that the damage may not have happened when the top cracked, that some time before someone dropped something on the top and weakened it to eventually crack. He gave an example that if he dropped his penlight flashlight on the top in the right way on the right spot, it could weaken the top, and eventually lead to its cracking. If thats the case perhaps the top was defective. After all, they are supposed to withstand some force. Now, I am not a tech. But my experience has always been that if you drop an item on glass enough to cause damage, it will leave some kind of a mark, whether its an impact mark, a chip, or crack on the surface, not on the other side. I have called Sears home services and asked to have a senior tech come out and re-evaluate the top. Its no doubt that he will re-affirm the other techs decision. I dont have my hopes up. The cost of the top was $392.00 which I had to pay. So much for extended warranties.
I own a Kenmore Range Model # 790.97453804. Its about 5 years old. Last night just after dinner the glass on the front of the door exploded! Shattering into pieces all over our kitchen for no apparent reason. I contacted two numbers, one for Sears, and one for Kenmore. Neither customer service person would do anything to listen to my problem or what happened. Like little programmed robots they repeated over and over it is out of warranty and they will send a technician out to assess what needs to be fixed at which time I can pay them for the repairs plus labor or pay for the service call. I decided to go online and order the parts myself. During the course of conversation with the repair specialist I find out: 1) This is a known issue. 2) The stove was manufactured by Frigidaire. 3) Its an issue with insulation in the door frame (part #7 on the diagram of the door). 4) The manufacturer recommends you replace it every 18 months. To which I responded, and how are we supposed to know that? Technician responded I am the parts specialist and we have the resources from the manufacturer. Its extremely sad that something as dangerous as this can continue and nobody is doing anything about the defective product.
The Kenmore dishwasher came with our apartment. The performance is excellent, and we dont have to go over dishes, or re-wash anything like we have in the past with other dishwashers. We generally keep it on the normal wash setting and it gets the job done, even on heavier stained dishes! The Kenmore dishwasher came with our apartment. It is the perfect size for a smaller space, like an apartment or a condo. It is compact, yet not too small, as it houses all of our dishes perfectly. You can fit a good amount of dishes in, yet it is not bulky. The appearance of the Kenmore is fairly clean. I feel as though this model looks slightly dated, due to the large selection of newer models offered on the market today, however it is stainless steel, and goes well with all appliances, as it has a very neutral, clean face. I feel as though, you pay for what you get with this model. Dishwashers can be expensive and this one is in the more low to moderate range, and it is worth it.
Kenmore appliances used to be reliable but have gone down so much that my husband as a builder, after using them for over 15+ years finally had to recently switch brand/distributors. Where to begin?! Less than one month after installation the refrigerator ice maker broke. Fixed it and it broke again. Now we just buy ice. We are so sick of dealing with appts etc. Its loud and seems to always be making all kinds of crazy noises. Our double oven also new - from the get go convection fan wasnt and still isnt working properly even after being “fixed”. Top element rattles loud even though screwed in tight, service tells us its because the inside is made so cheap they all rattle even if tightened - nothing they can do about it. So every time we cook we have to listen to a loud rattle. Every day I am reminded how much I despise Sears and Kenmore appliances for the garbage they sold us, wasted our money, and didnt stand behind. Our flat top stove is the only thing I love.
It was a good size for the apartment and I was in. It was easy to clean, easy to move and I never had any issues with the machine. I would recommend it for others to buy. I would recommend the refrigerator to somebody with a small household. The appearance was fine. It was white. The price was right. I had bought it from a previous owner but generally the brand of this product are priced reasonably. A person can always find a unit in their price range.
I have a 2007 Kenmore stove (model number 790.46729700 NF 74118261) which has had to be repaired three times for the same problem after a power surge. The unit has to be re calibrated. Enclosed are the repair receipts for this work (totaling $299) which occurred on 2/18/10, 1/25/2011 and most recently on 1/26/2012. There is something terribly wrong with the stove and that should be corrected by Electrolux, who I understand is the manufacturer of the unit. I now find out that there is a simple procedure that can be done to correct this problem, but it is not listed in the manual that came with the stove. I am requesting to be reimbursed the $299 that I incurred to repair what is a defective stove.
My fiancee whose name the appliance is listed under {Diane ** they assumed I was Mr. **} purchased a Sears Kenmore elite gas range model 79075343310 in October 2013. It has been used roughly a dozen times if that. Well on 1/26/15 we had made a pizza and were enjoying it when we heard a large pop. Upon investigation we discovered that the inner door glass had exploded and shattered. It was contained inside by the front and back panels. I figured because the warranty was only expired by three months that Sears would foot the bill for repairs. Not so! Their argument was warranty had expired. Okay understand that but when the hell have you ever heard of oven door glass exploding simply by using the oven. Definitely one for Ralph Nader. Ridiculous. What if it had been the outer glass with a toddler or family pet walking by. Believe Sears like the rest of iconic American businesses continue to sell us down the river with inferior products.
Kenmore Elite electric range # 7909802. We have had this range for six years and today the rack in the bottom oven fell, spilling the Thanksgiving turkey all over. We have called Sears about the problem and they want $120 to have a man come out to look at the range. We are not the only ones that this has happened to doing a internet search revealed a long list of unhappy customers some have been injured because of the faulty ovens.
Kenmore Elite 75339 - After about 3 weeks of using this range we realized that it was leaking gas. Had a service consultant from the gas company come out to sniff for leaks and he informed us it was leaking from the regulator and 2 of the burners. He told us this was the 4th or 5th Oven he had seen leaking like ours. We called Sears to have the oven exchanged and they setup another delivery for a few days later. After waiting about an hour or so after their so called scheduled delivery was suppose to be I called to find out where they were. The delivery consultant informed us that the new oven they were suppose to deliver was also damaged and that they needed to reschedule another delivery. Sears couldnt even be bothered to call and let us know. At this point we are just trying to get a refund. Enough is enough. Trying to navigate Sears customer service seems to be a battle all on its own. Its no wonder with customer service this terrible why the company is such a bad financial situation. Save yourself A LOT of hassle and buy something other than this range and save yourself even more hassle by shopping somewhere other than Sears.
I have two. A side by side I bought this spring after moving into this house. The existing recent model top freezer model is now in the utility room with my new Kenmore upright freezer. All 3 are excellently reliable, frost free models. The thermometers I placed in them confirm constant temperatures in both fridge and freezer compartments. I bought my first Kenmore side by side 49 years ago. I left it in a house I sold 34 years later! Reliability draws me to Kenmore. My Kenmore kitchen has a gas range and dishwasher to match the side by side. You can tell I trust and rely on Kenmore appliances.
Kenmore over the stove microwave. Four years ago the handle cracked on the lower attachment point. So, I went online & ordered a new handle. Im a retired Maintenance Master Electrician 47 yrs so replacing a handle should not be a problem. Ha Ha. Was I wrong I removed the door & the plastic trim from door, I gave up an hour later and called Kenmore for service. The technician came out & we both worked for another hour with no success. He said, Lets order a new door. About 10 days later he came back with the new door. He said that he was very sorry that new door cost $300.00, thats half the cost of the microwave new. It was over $700.00 on sale. But what are you going to do? So I said yes. He felt so bad he did not charge me for the service call. So now here we are on Sunday, my wife finds a piece of black plastic on the stove top. She looks & its from the bottom on the handle on the microwave. It has broken in the same as the last time. I told that I was not spending another $300 for another door. So, while I was cleaning the door with alcohol, I found a crack in the door on the bottom to the left of the handle. I got some 5min Epoxy & have glued the handle. Remember there are only 2 people in this house & we are 70 yrs. old. I will be looking for a commercial grade microwave to replacement this one but I guaranteed that it will not be a Kenmore or a Whirlpool.
Love this ice maker and cold water. Very economical also. Has shelves that you can move to suit your needs and easy to clean. The side of the refrigerator has so much room for milk, soda. They can fit any size soda bottle. Its 25 cubic. It is fantastic and meets all my family needs. You can arrange the shelves for height to fit your family needs. It has 2 drawers on the bottom for vegetables and cold cuts. Its freezer has loads of shelves and a huge slide out bin on the bottom. It freezes excellent, nothing is ever soft. I own the stainless steel one. It is very attractive and easy to clean with Windex and paper towels. I love the sleek modern look in my kitchen. It goes with any color on any other appliances you might own. It really looks like an expensive appliance but it was very reasonable price at my Sears store. It freezes very fast so food is not ruined and nothing has to be thrown out which saves you lots of money in the long run.
I have a double oven and its great except one thing, the side oven is so small that really nothing fits inside to bake. You have to order special size pans AMD lets face it, no one wants to go out of their way to do that let alone bake a tiny one person cake or 4 small rolls. I dont want to take away from regular oven but I believe the tiny baby oven should be an inch to two inches bigger at least to put regular size pans even if its for warming.
I purchased a Kenmore Elite top load washer in 12/2011. In roughly 12-13 months, the area around the bleach dispenser started to show signs of rust/corrosion. I contacted the Sears customer solutions group and they arranged a service call, which I paid for, to assess and confirm that there truly is rust/corrosion around the dispenser! I was quoted almost $300 for the repair, however the technician stated that there was a Service Flash for this very issue which apparently warrants a notification and how to handle it. This service flash SF26-813 clearly states as a repair as having a redesigned cover and dispenser along with having the cover completely painted. This obviously was a manufacturing defect that, when I started addressing with Sears, turned into a hot potato hand-off, from one department to another, without any sign of helping resolve the issue. They even sent me to LG, the manufacturer, to try to have them do something for me, instead of them bringing the issue to LG as their vendor and expecting resolution and seeking reparations. I finally was given a case number that was essentially useless since there is no direct contact person to work with, which in effect results in multiple solutions group people passing on emails trains without any point of contact. I even asked for direct contact and provided my phone number through every email...but still no call. This is the ultimate shell game with consumers...create a customer solutions group to help you...but dont actually have this group do anything to foster customer solutions. I was however offered $65 for part of the original service call. I even asked if they even interact with their vendors... in this case LG, to force them to own up to poor engineering and design, to help rebuild credibility and demonstrate responsibility for their products. I am Sears customer not LGs, and as such Sears should have an obligation to me. They in turn need to hold LG accountable for their inferior manufacturing design. Whatever happened to taking care of the customer? Sadly...this is a bygone saying.
First electric stove top and while it did take some adjusting from cooking on a gas range, I am happy I chose my 6 burner Kenmore stove/oven. The Turbo boil and warm zone are a huge plus. Really one one place for a large pan, which is upfront so that is good. This is for a smaller to medium kitchen in my opinion.
I have had numerous dryers with parts going out all the time. Once I had a Kenmore I never had to worry about my dryer and I had a six person household. My Kenmore is the best dryer that I have ever owned. I had a household consisting of six adults. Of the six three were female who in my opinion never gave my Kenmore dryer a break. Now through thousands of cycles it is still dependable. Drying time is not long either. Simple. Very basic design but very durable. The controls are not hard to understand and I still love front load dryers. Worth its weight in gold. Its a very affordable dryer and I was actually shocked that a dryer in this price range works as hard as mine works. Easily worth much more.
First time buying a Kenmore and last time. Paid too much for what I thought was a quality range. Oven racks dont fit. The entire inside is bowed out so racks dont fit. This is so dangerous if the rack fell while removing hot food. Got online and cant believe Sears hasnt recalled these.
Kenmore Ultra Bake Super Capacity Free Standing Gas Oven - Our oven stopped working right before Thanksgiving of 2012. It would not hold a temperature or even turn on at times. We had the control panel replaced for $300, and it got us through Thanksgiving. The oven originally cost $600 so to replace the control panel was very expensive. Right after Thanksgiving, it began to work inconsistently again. Our most recent incident was where the oven stayed on and increased the heat even though we turned it off and the control panel said that the oven was off. The gas was still on and clearly, the oven was increasing in temperature. We then got the error message E2-F3 which is the warning that it was too hot. We could not get it to turn off so we called the gas company to come right away. The gas man that showed up said that if we had cut the power to the house, the gas would have remained on unless we turned the gas valve off as well. This stove is too dangerous to keep. I would not recommend this product to anyone.
I purchased a complete line of Kenmore Elite products to furnish my new house in September 2010. Fast forward 1.5 years later, the indoor ice maker stopped working. I lived without ice for a while until I could find a good time to get a repairman out from Sears to fix it (2013). Now, the seals on the doors collect condensation and seem to build up a residue, special. Last night, I was surprised to have the exterior glass of my oven explode on to me whilst baking at 400. 400.... pretty average baking temp, nothing thrown at the oven, dropped on it, smacked to it, nothing. Just a surprise explosion and a cut to the shin from the tempered glass flying at me.
I turned my oven on to warm up leftovers. 20 minutes later, after I have taken the food out and turned the oven off, I smelled burning odor. My oven burners were red hot and I could not turn it off. My husband had to cut it off by throwing the breaker. Had I walked out after turning the oven off thinking it was off, my house would have burned down. This has happened so much. After reading all the incidents online, I’m afraid to buy another Kenmore. Several models are being recalled for some reason. Mine is not.
When I was growing up we always had Kenmore products because my Dad always bought the best for Mom. All their appliances, stove, fridge, washer, dryer were all Kenmore. Mom still only wants Kenmore. They were great because they lasted so long. I am 60 and Mom just replaced the Kenmore washer she had when I was about 25 or so.
I bought a Kenmore 79032613318, slide in range for over $1300. I had shopped around but knew the kenmore brand for years and felt this would be a good choice. I bought in June of 2016 and by the end of the summer of 2017 none of the range control buttons worked. So basically all I had was a stove and no oven. I researched the possible problem and found that either the electronic controller or the cover panel itself was bad (that is where the touch screen buttons are housed). The controller cost 227 and the control panel cost 337. I took a gamble and replaced the controller. Still not working, now Sears is telling me to replace the control panel. So if I decide to do this I will have over $500 into a range that lasted less than year....Think I wont be buying any sears products in the near future and will just move on and buy new range somewhere else....Got hosed on that deal for sure.
Lasted a long time before I purchased a new refrigerator. No problems with it until it was worn out. Reliable and freezer kept food well. It fit my needs at the time. With a family and grandkids, I needed something larger and I moved up to stainless steel. The freezer was a bit small, but it was appropriate for the fridge size. It was basic white refrigerator. Nothing exceptional, but it served the purpose for what I needed. It was easy to clean and maintain with mild soap and water. It was a good refrigerator for the price. It was comparable if not a bit better in the price range with similar models. Its a good choice if youre not ready for a more expensive stainless steel model.
Large oven, heavy iron burner grills, timer, electronic lighters. Like it all except the push button controls for the oven etc. were not very sturdy and the mounts broke and had to re-enforce and remount the panel from the inside. Only one problem... That of the control panel mounting weakness. Have had a great experience with all my Kenmore products and see no reason not to continue buying them in the future when needed. The products are solid and the prices are very reasonable for a great dependable product.
After replacing my Kenmore Elite slide in oven/stove because it was a lemon with too many issues to enumerate, I foolishly choose the next generation thinking it was improved. This stove cannot maintain a temperature for more than 10 minutes before it begins a preheat function and it begins to try to come to temp by firing up the top and/or bottom heating elements effectively ruining any delicate baked goods like cookies or cakes. I will never ever buy a Kenmore product again. In addition even though they market a five element stove top, if you have 2 elements on high and the oven on, the entire unit blows the breakers and fuses (and it is not our wiring/breakers that are malfunctioning). Worst product ever!
After 20 yrs with my old Kenmore I just bought a new machine through Sears Can...I deliberately did not buy an HE. I am a weaver and when I finish things Ive woven, I need to control the washing process. I did not realize that the lid-lock is continually in effect. Stop the lock and I cant watch the washing process. Then I discover there is no soak cycle. (I also run a small guest house and towels frequently need to soak before a wash cycle.) What designer/programmer, in his infinite idiocy, chose to set the default at empty?! This is moronic! Fill the machine and get distracted and leave the lid up--it empties. Realize I set the wrong cycle and change the dial--it empties. Close the lid and let it sit--it empties.Add to this the fact that the towels are NOT coming out clean. I have tried different cycles, more detergent, hotter water. I have washed twice. I have let things soak. (Put the drain hose into the machine, let it drain back into the drum, pull the electrical plug. Let sit. Put hose into clean garbage can, insert electrical plug and now, even if I want to wash, it drains--into the can. Start from beginning and bucket soapy water into drum as it begins to fill. Start wash. For this I paid nearly $700 CAD tax included. Im putting it on Kijiji as soon as I can find a Speed Queen replacement. And am trying to get my old machine back in service until then. Never again, Kenmore.
My Kenmore oven has given me nothing but very good results. I use the oven several times a week using it for various items from fresh to frozen entrées. Package instructions work exceedingly well.
I purchased a Kenmore Elite wall oven with the additional warranty about a month ago. The first time I used the self-cleaning feature it discolored the metal on the bottom of the oven and turned a huge area white. I called to have it looked at and the Kenmore service department sent someone to look at it. After they saw it they said it was cosmetic and there was nothing they can do about it and I should be cleaning it myself. So they have a self-cleaning feature in the oven but advise you not to use it. The store I purchased it from said they felt they should replace the bottom. The metal must be defected. I had a second service call with Kenmore and was told the same thing: it was my fault for spilling something in the oven. This oven is only a month old and I feel this is a manufacturer’s defect. The way they refuse to do anything makes me regret buying it and buying the extended warranty. I would like the oven fixed and thoroughly checked out to make sure not only the metal is fixed but that the self-cleaning feature is working correctly. I would like the oven to be replaced or if this is a common complaint with these ovens, I would like to get my money back and buy a different brand. I am disappointed in Kenmores response to this issue with their oven.
New stove < 7 months old, on 07/26/2014 @ 0300 cold and unused for days, the lower oven front door glass exploded all over my kitchen like a small bomb. Terrified my wife, and we had glass over everything in the kitchen even well above the level of the door... counters, pictures on the wall, etc... Sears-Kenmore personnel most unhelpful in regards to servicing the warranty and providing corrective action. This company is a dead-man walking in regard to customer service... When you google this Kenmore exploding oven door, there are thousands of cases on the net. I wish I had been bright enough to google it thusly before the purchase. The stove was not cheap. An expensive lesson...
My Kenmore dishwasher came with the house I bought and I was pleased with it so I did not replace it. It is and always has been a reliable brand that has proven to always outlast other so called reliable brand and has always been sold at a reasonable price. Having it is convenient. I can use it for storage and it doesnt use an excessive amount of water and it isnt excessively noisy when operating so I can enjoy TV while it works for me and I can be relaxed at the end of the day. Have no problems with it, but I would like it to use less water and electricity because both are an expensive item where I live.
I purchased my piece of junk Kenmore range Model 790.9745 in 11/09. I have had a reoccurring issue since the glass exploding and shattering for no apparent reason. The glass in the door has slipped on 3 separate occasions, requiring a service call and time waiting for repairs. On 12/13/2012, the glass was replaced after exploding. On 3/2/2013, the glass was replaced after having slipped, revealing the hardware which was holding it in place. On 6/8/2013, the glass was replaced once again due to slipping and revealing the hardware. Today, I have phoned customer service once again and have received no satisfaction from the numerous phone conversations. Each time the supervisor has been less than helpful in their ability to satisfy the customer. I would think that Sears would be a bit more concerned about rectifying this situation and stand behind what they sell and repair this problem. I will not buy another thing from Sears and I will be sure to share my poor experience with Everyone I know! I am disgusted!
I purchased a Kenmore ultra dishwasher along with stove and fridge. 1 year and 3 moths later the motor went out in the dishwasher. The warranty was up at 1 year. We called a Sears technician out because we purchased at sears. They would not stand behind their product, after hours on the phone. Was told $400 for the motor, plus labor.
Kenmore Ultra Wash dishwasher 1 year ago. We spoke to the salesman about family needs and washing dishes multiple times a day. He sold us on this make and model 665.1354. Since the purchase the washer has proven to disappoint, top rack dishes are never clean and leaves dried on debris in glasses after being rinsed that has to be soaked off. Silverware also are always dirty still. On top of all of that the top rack will no longer stay attached to the wheels on the sliding track, all four attachments are now broke making it impossible to use the top rack. When I called customer service and the parts department both departments gave me the runaround and will not replace the part stating it is out of warranty. I am extremely disappointed. After one year to have a machine that is falling apart after the money spent! Sears customer service is terrible! They also use the fact that we did not buy the extended service plan against the consumer. The truth is no 1 year dishwasher should have these issues very poor quality!
We had both the washer and dryer and they were, although basic, very efficient. The pair was relatively quiet, and the washer had an automatic bleach dispenser. The dryer did a fair job. I believe these were near bottom of the cost curve. Even though we replaced both units, they were both in good operating condition after ten years. We gave them to a neighbor who had rental properties and they are still going strong there. There were some options that we did not have, and that we wanted, so we upgraded and looked quite awhile before deciding. We wanted an HE unit, and we wanted the bells and whistles that tell you when stuff is done. We wanted more settings on the dryer. So we went to Sears and actually found something that suited us very well. We ended up, however, purchasing Whirlpool, because of the customer service at Lowes. The units were white. Dirt tended to accumulate under the lid of the washer and it needed wiped out regularly (which probably should be done at any rate). They were, as I said, pretty basic. White, utilitarian. Kenmore appliances, of any type (and weve had several so I can say this from first-hand experience) are some of the best appliances available anywhere. The units range from basic to sophisticated, and the price tag increases as the options are added. In the long run the value is, in my opinion, excellent. I would highly recommend any Kenmore appliance.
Last year I purchased the Kenmore 73059 fridge from Sears to replace the 6 year old Kenmore French door fridge that I purchased from Sears that died. First of all, the water dispenser leaked. The tech blamed it on low water pressure in my home, but the old (6 year old) fridge didnt leak. Now, mere weeks out of warranty, the new fridge is dead. All customer service could say was, You know its out of warranty. You should have purchased one of our home warranties. Do NOT purchase Kenmore appliances. They are unreliable pieces of junk!!! And they do NOT stand behind their products. Oh, and the microhood (over-the-range microwave) I purchased 7 years ago needed a new magnetron at 51 weeks old (at least it was covered under the warranty). Note it has a bad humidity sensor (at 7 years old).
I purchase the Kenmore Elite double oven approx three years ago. It has been a disaster from the start! The issues was the rewiring needed for the product that I was not told about. This requires an electrician and an extra charge that is Kenmore specific. The first set of ovens did not work at all. After paying the additional cost for the change the ovens were installed and they did not work. The installer could do nothing and I had to call for a repair. I requested a new set of oven and after a week or two receive a new set. Within 6 month I noticed the doors on the ovens would not close properly and that the calibration was off. I requested another set again to no avail. To date I have had 2/3 additional service calls for the ovens for the same problem. I have requested a new set or satisfaction each time. The most recent repair was in July 2016. Now Nov 26, 2016 they are saying the problem is no longer under warranty for the repair or the extended warranty I purchased. The customer service center has had problems scheduling, sending two repair people or say there is no appointment and then a repairman shows up anyway. This happens even with confirmations and secondary verifications. There was a time when the Sears brand stood for quality, and great customer service. Those days are no more. I purchased a full suite of appliances for a gourmet kitchen with the Kenmore Elite Brand and the two most expensive items, the fridge and the double ovens have had significant problems and repairs. I have been loyal to Sears and so as my family making it a tradition for over 30 years of my adult life. My parent bought Sears as did my entire family but NO MORE! I will exhaust my points and the boycott will begin. We will NEVER purchase anything from Sears again nor will we recommend the store or their products.
This 30” Natural gas range has served us well, it includes a self-cleaning oven, warming drawer & griddle/extra large burner for over-sized pots & relatively easy to keep clean & the gas makes this economical to use & quick to reach set temperature for oven use.
I bought all 4 appliances at one time, Kenmore elite top of line bottom freezer/ref, dishwasher, microwave and electric stove. Ive owned them for at least 4 years and had problems with all of them. I paid top dollar for junk. What put me to post my displeasure was the refrigerator. About 1 month after warranty expired I began to receive Er 1F messages. I read on internet to pull the plug and it will resolve problems. I did it several times a year since then and problem would resolve and come back again. Now its becoming more frequent and water is now leaking from ice-maker. Going to change fan and motherboard to see if it solves the problem. Dishwasher also top of the line which I had to change major part that failed which caused major flood/water damage to house. Lucky that was still under warranty at the time. I would not recommend this product to anyone. Buyers beware. I signed up to a class action suit regarding refrigerator problems couple years back but did not hear back from group filing lawsuit. Sears and Kenmore should stop selling these inferior products with the elite tag. I had a GE appliances that lasted for 10 years or more which was much cheaper and more reliable than these terrible products. No wonder they were pushing me to purchase extended warranty cause there was known problems with these awful appliances.
I purchased a Whirlpool built HE Oasis Washer, Kenmore brand but Whirlpool constructed. It really is a piece of junk. I paid right at $1,000 in the fall of 2008 and within three months, I needed a service call. Then right after the one year warranty, I needed several parts replaced and now one year after, it has three error codes. Everyone is recommending the LG machines for everything because they last much longer! I am certainly not going to throw my money away on a Whirlpool appliance any longer. I went through the same thing with our refrigerator and microwave. I bought Whirlpool in 1980 and swore by it. I didnt replace an appliance (purchased washer, dryer, stove, refrigerator and dishwasher) all at the same time in June of 1980. All appliances lasted for 15+ years. Now, Whirlpool doesnt make anything to last! Large appliances are much too expensive to have to replace every three to five years!
I bought a refrigerator in my price range. I just wanted a nice reliable fridge for all my food and I would have liked the freezer to be bigger. I like the look of my Kenmore fridge on the outside and the room it had for all my food. It was very lightweight, sturdy and very durable. I loved the shelf space it had and the door space for meats, veggies and fruits. I loved that fridge. The only thing I would change is for it to be bigger and Id change the color because I like all black fridges.
After the second self clean on our Kenmore convection oven that we paid 1799.00 21/2 years ago the paint under the top and the door is now rusted because the paint melted from the self cleaning. Also the button for the warming over turned brown. I will never buy a Kenmore oven again that was an expensive lesson.
Glad to not have to wash dishes by hand and also the dry time is great... Dont have to worry about second washing... very easy and convenient. My kitchen is kind of small so this dishwasher is a great size and falls right into place around my cabinets and under my countertop. Great fit for any size kitchen. The white goes very well with my kitchen. The color matches my kitchen appliances... the stove and refrigerator. It is easy to clean also. The value of the dishwasher is good. Low maintenance and upkeep. I really like this dishwasher and I would recommend it to anyone who is shopping around for a great dishwasher.
I purchased a Kenmore Gas Range Model 790.74419810 on September 6, 2019 from a local Sears store in Southern California as a gift for my niece. The appliance was not delivered to my niece until October 29, 2019. Just 29 days after having the appliance installed my niece was cooking Thanksgiving dinner on November 28, 2019 at 350 degrees when she heard a loud crash from the kitchen. She ran in the kitchen to discover that the inner oven door glass had shattered all over the inside of the range peppering Thanksgiving dinner with shards of hot glass. Her Thanksgiving dinner was completely ruined and the only thing she had to be thankful about was that her two year old son was nowhere near the shards of hot glass when the oven door glass shattered. After further research the day after Thanksgiving we learned that Sears has had this issue with Kenmore ranges ever since 2011 and numerous injuries have resulted over the past 8 years. Despite countless complaints to the CPSC Sears has chosen not to issue a recall nor take the affected model off the market. My wife and I attempted, on November 29, 2019, over the phone with the third party in India Sears has outsourced customer to, to acquire a refund for the obviously defective product but the only response we received was a technician would come out to verify that the glass had actually shattered. As a last resort to get some sort of satisfaction, my wife and I returned to the Sears store on Black Friday November 29, 2109 where we purchased the defective product and forced the store manager to pick up the defective range and refund our money. The Kenmore Gas Range Model 790 is a dangerous product that will soon severely injure someone. Sears is negligent and has with full knowledge continued to sell a dangerous and defective product and all the while focused on profit rather than safety. Please help save the public from this corporate greed.
Nice range and stove top, but the electronic controller failed, and replacing a couple of circuit boards cost two thirds of the cost of a new range.
Burn hazard due to oven racks falling. Apparently this is a well-known and well-documented hazard. These ovens are manufactured by Frigidaire for Kenmore and Jenn-Air with only the cosmetics being different. Same defect in both. Jenn Air has recalled and replaced the defective products, Sears is in denial. The problem is that when the self-cleaning mode is used, the oven sidewalls expand, allowing the racks to fall, resulting in burns. So far, weve been lucky, but if a small child or pet were in the vicinity... it could be tragic. We purchased all high end Kenmore Elite when we redid our kitchen. The factory service was a joke. We filed a complaint with the Consumer Product Safety Commission and will be sending a demand letter to Sears and Frigidaire.
My washers performance has been great. It gets the job done. It has lasted longer than any other brand. It cleans the biggest material, which would be my comforter. It had endured one of my king size comforter and a number of occasions. Also has endure tons of clothes piled on high without ever messing up. It is white with easy to read settings. I like how the controls are easy to read and adjust if needed to be changed on a different setting, due to the clothing difference. It was/is my price range for the right amount of size and settings for my family. It has held up to its value so many times and I see a few more years with it as well.
I purchased Kenmore Elite smooth top range in January 2013. In April 2013, I had the oven set on 350 degrees to cook meatloaf. I opened the oven door to insert food and the glass on the door exploded all over my feet and the floor. The repair person said this happens often, usually during self-cleaning. Thank God, it is under warranty but I wonder how long it will last. I am afraid to use the self-cleaning feature.
My glass top oven is really and has never given a problem since I have owned it. It the best stove and greatly recommended it. I love the double burner so I can go from small to large cooking for dinner.
This very expensive electric range is inferior. The oven walls have warped to the point the racks fall down. They do not sit correctly in the oven and fall when you place trays of food on the rack. Very dangerous when a tray full of hot food falls when you are trying to move it. Control panel is now faulty and creating a toxin type smell and shutting the stove and oven down. I am basically afraid of my oven. Sears wants nothing to do with taking responsibility for these product defects. I will never again purchase a Kenmore product. Getting rid of the oven tomorrow and purchased a Whirlpool product. It pains me to not fight the battle but I cannot do without a working oven. I have also read so many other complaints similar to this one from other consumers. I will not recommend anyone to buy a Kenmore range.
The stovetop grids are so easy to clean, you can lift them completely off and polish the stove surface. Nice variety burners and center for grill, easy to make multiple pancakes at once. Oven is large and easy to clean, racks remove easily.
Purchased a Kenmore elite set of washer & dryer in July 2013. The washer is constantly getting unbalanced and cannot be left unattended because water keeps running until I stop and re-arrange the clothes. Sears has been out 4 times in 3 weeks to work on washer -- still not working properly.
Im pretty satisfied with my stove. The knobs to turn on the burner turn to the left instead of the right (Im still adjusting to that), the self cleaning oven isnt great...when used, the racks became very discolored and I still had to clean the bottom of the stove.
The washer is by Kenmore and I have not had any repairs in the time I have owned the machine. This washer does the job. Happy with its performance. Clothes are clean. Not looking to replace. Will keep this washer for the long term. This washer is white and is a standard washer with a top load. It has an agitator and a lot of buttons. I use warm for my whites and cold for my colors. I looked at a lot of machines. It was not at the top or at the bottom of the range. I therefore felt I got good value.
The washer machine doesnt fail to work. I have had it for a long time and it still hasnt worn its performance. It cleans everything perfectly and without fail. I can always trust this machine. It has never proven bad. This machine is reliable for any clothes and large to fit them into it. The appearance of this washer machine is marvelous. It fits perfectly in next to the dryer. The funny thing is the two machines next to one another fit perfectly in the laundry room. It is well worth the value. It has never let me down. I have had this washer machine for 3 years and it still acts as if its brand new. Im amazed.
I absolutely hate to put down such a venerable old name as Sears and Kenmore. I bought a brand new high end refrigerator, range microwave and dishwasher from Sears 6 years ago, and they have all been falling apart ever since. Its heartbreaking as I had old appliances that I chucked out that had served me well for 30 years, but after a kitchen remodel, I wanted all shiny new stainless steel appliances. The troubles started soon after purchase, and now two of the appliances are non-functional, and the other two are limping along.REFRIGERATOR - Be sure to look over very well any refrigerator you buy. For some odd reason, this Kenmore stops the rack several inches short of the rear of the fridge. Not only cheats you out of valuable space, things are constantly dropping down in the no mans land I call the back of my fridge. The worst part is the ice maker. The ice hopper would block up constantly, and Id have to manually pull out, bust up and defrost the ice in the ice hopper and clean it out - an easy hour wasted on this task. Now the ice maker does not work at all. The ice freezes in the water supply tube, and has to be defrosted by a hair dryer, which takes forever to do. Im tired of spending hours getting this darn ice maker to work. I just put ice cube trays in the freezer now. Its very disappointing.RANGE - From the get go, the range has had a strange hum when you turn on the jets, and the oven. It scared me at first, but the salesman that sold me the range told me its common for a hum noise when you first turn on the jets, and the oven. Strange, I thought, but it doesnt stop humming - it just sounds like a kitchen range practicing yoga...hummmmmm. The oven has to be set about 50 degrees hotter than the temperature asked for, otherwise youll find a raw turkey in your oven at dinnertime on Thanksgiving, like I did. I learned to adjust for the inaccurate temperature on the range, but 50 degrees? Sheesh!MICROWAVE - The door closure foot has broken twice, and good thing I bought two of them from the Appliance Parts Bank here in H.B. I have replaced two of them myself, not wanting to pay $75.00 minimum for a repairman to come and fix it. Also very annoying. Shoddy construction - plastic parts that are not made as well as my grandsons Lego parts!WORST PROBLEM & DANGEROUS... The microwave runs when it is in OFF position. In other words, if the door is closed, the microwave runs, never shuts off, and I mean HOT! A couple of times I have used it and went in the other room to do something and came back to almost a fire in my kitchen - smoke all over and the microwave still running. It has automatically shut off a couple of times. The door has to remain open at all times and the bright light is burning 24-7. Ive got to unplug the whole machine now as I dont want my house to burn down.DISHWASHER - What a piece! I use it seldom but water does not drain out properly. THATS ALL FOLKS - Very sorry, as I bought these from Sears because Sears was paying its reserve troops who were called to combat - my sense of love for that act alone propelled me to buy these units.
Kenmore Elite model 790.9912 - We purchased this electric range from Sears almost 10 years ago. A few years back, the computer panel malfunctioned, and had to be replaced. Yesterday while making dinner, I had the oven set at 300 degrees, and I had one of the burners set at 5.5. Suddenly I heard a noise like a buzzing sound and then a pop, and the entire width of the back of the range went up in flames. I shut the burner off, and the fire went out. The oven got so hot that the door locked as it does in the self-cleaning mode, and we are unable to open it. The wall behind the range is charred, and the wiring behind the range is entirely burned. We called Sears and explained what happened. The sales representative said “Well it is almost ten years old.”
Installers messed up cabinetry, didnt fix. Temp on oven wrong all the time. I had to build a 2 by 18 plug or it would have just been open to under my stairs.
Kenmore Electric Range Model 790.9742 - Purchased in April 2010. The racks are no longer and it collapsed during the cooking process due to the oven liner warping and bowing out. Repairman says it is unrepairable and there are no racks available to fix this problem. Sears tells me this is an isolated problem and they have never heard of this problem before. Really?! Its all over the internet on not only Kenmore, but LG, Jenn-Air, Whirlpool, and other brands made for Sears. All Sears will do is give me a 20% discount off a new stove because I did not buy the extended warranty. I sincerely doubt the extended warranty would have covered an oven liner since it is not a replaceable part. It is part of the oven, according to the repairman. I was nearly burned when I pulled out a casserole to check on it. Dutch oven also fell after a few hours while it was cooking in the oven. Luckily, the door stayed closed and the Dutch oven fell straight down. It could have caused a major grease fire. Sears refuses to admit there is a problem with the steel used in the oven liner. Sears no longer stands behind their products. They say they are sorry. I am disappointed in the longevity of my stove. Well, yes, it is only 2 1/2 years old and this shouldnt be happening. It would have happened sooner had I used the self-cleaning oven feature which I have yet to do and it would have caused additional warping and bowing. I have an oven I paid $1000 for and is unusable because I, more than likely, will get burned or a fire will happen due to these racks no longer fitting.
My Kenmore microwave is 16 months old and it is arcing. I called Kenmore and they said SORRY. If you dont have insurance then we cant help you. Is the quality so bad that a consumer is forced to take out insurance now? I will never buy Kenmore products again. Now I am afraid that the stove, refrigerator and dishwasher will end up in the trash also. Do not buy Kenmore products. They are not what they used to be.
The dishwasher does extremely well even on burnt on food. Removes grease with ease and rinses cleanly. It is so easy to operate that even my 10 year old uses it. Being the parent of two children and having a busy life the capacity of the dishwasher is very important. It hold all of our daily dishes and glasses in one wash cycle. The easy clean exterior of the dishwasher is very nice. The controls are not overly obvious and the appliance is eye catching. The interior shelves are nicely arranged and look good. The overall price of this dishwasher is very comparable to many others on the market, but unlike the others this product works very well. We have had no issues with this model.
It’s a microwave with convection built in, I use it more than my oven, convenient and easy from defrost to heating food or baking scrumptious deserts. It’s a great choice to work with, the settings are easy visible. Works like a charm, love it.
I have loved my Kenmore Elite range model 79098023802 made by Electrolux for 6 years until this weekend. The range expands when cooking and the racks fall to the bottom causing everything to spill. I contacted Sears and was told that this happens after using the self cleaning feature which apparently damages the oven walls, the oven will now expand when using the oven making the racks fall. I would have to have the whole interior replaced for $300.00. When I asked if this would happen again after replacing the interior I was told it was possible. This is clearly a manufacturer defect and Sears/Electrolux should stand by their product regardless if it is under warranty. My husband is recently unemployed and we are unable to fix the problem which Sears/Electrolux should take responsibility for a faulty product!!
I have never owned a stove that I loathe as much as I do the Kenmore glass top stove that we have. Every week without fail, the handle comes apart, causing the glass door and white casing to fall to the ground and I have to screw the entire door and handle back on. We arent rough with this appliance. Its a piece of junk, period. Another thing is that the cooking elements dont provide consistent heat. If I want to boil water to make a cup of tea, I swear I have to wait five minutes before the water in the kettle comes to a boil. I really detest this stove and I am counting the days until it finally gives up the ghost so I can buy a decent stove.
Kenmore has always been a leader in appliances and I have a wonderful stove that is easy to clean and includes enough room to cook a Thanksgiving meal! It has electronic ignition which has revolutionized lighting pilots on the stove top and an igniter that engages in the oven once a certain temperature is reached! I’m sure all brands include this technology but I’ve researched by virtue of customer reviews that Kenmore shines in less repairs overall! In appearance, it is beautiful and enhances the aesthetic value of your kitchen! Easy, understandable controls keep you adept of the functionality and less time reading handbooks! All in all, I have been quite content in my satisfaction of the Kenmore label! Congratulations to an innovative dependable company????
Sears Kenmore has made some of the most reliable appliances I have ever purchased! I purchased my stove in 1998 and Im still using it. It isnt digital; which I prefer because digital appliances need too many repairs and are very costly when the circuitry breaks down. The con is they dont brown as well as metal ovens. Im saddened to see Sears closing its stores. I would definitely research to find who carries Kenmore when purchasing appliances, as Im sure they have updated them.
I purchased a Kenmore Elite 790.48883.110 built-in microwave to match my Elite built-in oven. The Elite microwave electronics fried within a few months while still under warranty. The electronics were replaced but fried again a year later while out of warranty. This microwave is a LEMON. There is a design or manufacturing defect in this unit. Sears is retailing the microwave for $2,000 (I paid $1,300). I have a Hamilton Beach microwave that I purchase at Walmart for $65 at it works like a charm. Why cant Sears make a $2,000 microwave that lasts for a year? The fun begins when you contact Sears Customer Care. The first thing that the non-English speaking person told me was that I needed to contact Electrolux because they were the ones who actually made the microwave. Duh? I bought the microwave at Sears and it has Kenmore labeled on the front door! I really dont care which company in China made the unit, Sears is the responsible party! But this is what Sears Customer Care operators are trained to do. After much complaining, I was finally turned over to an English-speaking operator. His job was to sell me a $500 per year insurance policy. I told him, Thanks but no thanks! If I have to spend $500 it will go toward yanking out the Kenmore unit and replacing it with another brand!By the way, the microwave (when actually working) gives off an ear-piercing beep every 15 seconds that is extremely obnoxious. This beep cannot be turned off or adjusted. DONT BUY THIS LEMON OR ANY OTHER APPLIANCES FROM SEARS...!!! Sears used to be a good company but has turned into a pile of horse manure!
August 2015, I purchased a Kenmore Elite Convection Oven MODEL #970C693832. Its a beautiful oven which came with a major problem. The red flag should have been noted when it was delivered, and the glass control panel fell off; this was before it was even brought into my kitchen. I asked them to return it, and we got a new one a week later. Three months in, the same thing happened again; the glass control panel fell off. I called Sears, and they sent a technician to fix it with a new control panel. The technician mentioned to me that the only thing holding the control panel is glue. When the oven is in use, every time I use my oven, the glue is melting away. Theres no frame to support it, when the glue melts off. How is this even safe? Last week, the same problem happened again, the glass control panel fell off. I called Sears again.Today, a technician from Sears came in to check it out and will be fixing it again with a new control panel. So until he comes back, and fixes it, I have to use tape to hold up the control panel in order to use the oven. Luckily, its still under the extended warranty, but I cant keep calling Sears to replace the control panel every time the glue melts. Instead of sending a technician to fix the same problem, Sears should replace this appliance because this problem will happen again, and they know it. This oven is not good, and I would never recommend it. Sears should do its part and make sure they are selling their customers good appliances that they can rely on. I am very disappointed with my appliance from Sears, and I wish Sears would make good appliances with top-of-the-line materials and parts. Sears needs to do a quality check assurance on their appliances before they go on the market. We as customers cannot afford to expend so much money on products that either dont last, or have problem with their parts.
