Kenmore Ranges

I purchased a Kenmore brand gas range in February 2008 for over $1,000 on sale. Sears installed. I found out upon delivery that it was manufactured by Electrolux. I was unhappy with the stovetop from the start. Its almost impossible to clean once something spilled on it while hot. Functionally, it worked okay. However, when doing self-cleaning process, the oven never really seemed to get clean. On Saturday, March 16, 2013, I ran a cleaning cycle for only 2 hours as it was not that soiled. As per the salespersons instructions, I also cleaned the cast iron stovetop grates in the oven. I noticed that after 30 minutes after cycle completion, stove is still radiating a lot of heat. It was then I noticed that the clear cover over the touch plate on the control panel was melted and discolored. The touch pads would not function. I contacted Sears Appliance and was told I could purchase warranty coverage; otherwise, there would be a service call as well as parts and labor. When I asked if there had been any similar problems, I was told no. When I asked why I would be charged if it was a manufacturing defect, I was told to contact Kenmore. So I contacted Kenmore and was advised it was not covered by any warranty, there were no problems known and no recalls had been issued. Upon checking online, I found numerous similar complaints regarding the control panel melting and one case where the oven actually caught on fire within five minutes of starting cleaning cycle. The individual model numbers were not listed nor the manufacturer. But since most of Kenmore appliances are made by the same manufacturer and just labeled Frigidaire, Electrolux, Tappan, etc., I figure it doesnt really matter. Using my preferred appliance repair person, the panel was replaced at a cost of $298. I had to order the touch pad from Kenmore and Im expecting a 2-3 week wait for delivery and additional cost of $22 for part. Labor is unknown at this time. I know appliances are only built to last 3-5 years anymore, but this still poses a real hazard. Im afraid to run the self-cleaning cycle now for fear of a repeat incident and additional expense. The repairman stated he was unable to determine what caused the malfunction. I believe its partially a design problem as one oven vent is directly below the control panel. I received no satisfaction from Sears or Kenmore. Im wondering if a class action has been discussed.

Poor quality material. It is rusting in every corner! Also is coming apart. The control panel is loose. The burners are getting hard to clean. The top oven, I keep it covered with aluminum foil, otherwise if you cook something and it falls on the top of the stove, it’s going to stain the paint.

We purchased a Kenmore wall oven in late 2012. Recently we used a heavy pot and the middle and lower rack fell down. Sears service came and stated that the walls are too thin and bent when there is weight on the racks... a design problem. They wanted us to buy new wall parts - with the same design problem - to replace the existing wall parts.

Never had an issue. Freezer always stayed cold and the refrigerator worked perfectly. Ive had it for a long time and it works just as great as it did the day I got it. The only issues I had were with the freezer. It was hard to always fit several frozen pizzas and large tubs of ice cream. I just had to change my grocery shopping habits. It isnt the most glamorous. Its not ugly. It just looks dated when compared to stainless steel. It matched my kitchen at the time. It was on the lower end of the price range of refrigerators but it has lasted a long time without having repairs. It also doesnt use a ton of energy.

The best brand out there. Reliable and trusted. It washes dishes clean even the most dirty quietly and efficiently. Its a brand you can trust. Has been for years. The way the racks are arranged lets me clean more dishes and get them cleaner in one wash than other brands. More efficient means less power used and less time in the kitchen. Looks nice. Matches my kitchen. Looks clean and fits right in with my fridge. Easy to clean off the surface area too. With all the small grandkids running and getting into it, its a big plus to have a easy clean surface. Worth every red cent. The product you buy is better and lasts longer. The dishwasher will continue to give you your moneys worth well beyond when other brands fall apart. Very reasonable for a well-made machine.

Kenmore model # 79092803013 electric range oven started smelling plastic burn every time I turned on the oven. Well, I should have turned it off but I didnt. Thanks to God it didnt cause any major damages including fatalities. The baking and broiling elements stopped working and decided to open the back panel of the range. To my surprise the control board and the harness was burned and melted until changed to complete black. They should have recalled their products knowing their safety issues. The sad thing is all my appliances are Kenmore. I will never buy their products again. Be Aware!!!

My Kenmore Self-Cleaning range is 5 years old, and about two years ago, I noticed the oven racks were falling out of the groves. The oven box seems to have bowed out and the racks fall out and do not fit anymore. I assumed Sears would take responsibility for this as this should never happen. When I brought the problem to them, they said I must buy new racks costing about $150.00 and that there was no recall on this problem. I think this is unfair and irresponsible on the part of Sears to not recall these ranges or at the very least, replace at no charge the racks.I have been a faithful Kenmore customer for over 30 years, but I will never buy another Kenmore appliance or any appliance from Sears again unless they do the right thing and correct this problem. Without proper fitting racks, the oven is virtually unusable, not to mention a safety hazard as hot items placed on the racks can cause injury when the racks fall out of the groves. I have been burnt more than once due to this. Shame on you Sears!

Its louder than we expected (partly because it resonates within the cupboards its next to) and recently has started to leak -- not from mechanical issues that we can observe, but based on the type of detergent we use in it. Ball/pod detergents seem to be incomparable with it. Otherwise its performed reliably and done its job. We knew what we were buying and were already assuming wed replace it a few years into owning the home. Fits enough items that we can usually clear one side of the sink if not both; for larger pots and pans we sometimes cant fit everything in one cycle. Very nice looking for a mid-range model; matches well with our other appliances and isnt as susceptible to fingerprints as other stainless items weve owned. We got what we paid for -- not saying its not a fair value for a builder model but rather that we knew the level of quality we were getting and assumed wed need to upgrade in a few years. Cheaper to do that ourselves than through the home studio/builder.

This evening my elder father called to tell me that my mom set the oven to self-clean the day after Thanksgiving. She set the oven to self-clean and they went to bed. When they woke the next morning, the oven was very clean but now the stove top will not heat. I told them to unplug the thing until they can make sure that is not a hazard to operate. After all these complaints I am shocked to see so many customers having problems with the Kenmore ranges. My mother always bought Kenmore and when I bought my first and all homes since have been furnished with Kenmore and Whirlpool appliances. So sad to see that Sears is losing their special touch! Sears was always known for their customer service and customer satisfaction! Now with my parents thousands of miles away, I have to worry about their appliances blowing up.

Last week, the oven door to my 2-year-old Kenmore range exploded - shattering and sending shards of glass across the kitchen. The range hadnt been used since the night before and I had turned the broiler to low, opened the door to slip food onto the rack, and was in the process of closing the door when the glass completely shattered. I called Sears, where I bought the blasted thing. They suggested I contact Kenmore, who suggested I contact Frigidaire, who referred me back to Kenmore. No one seemed concerned that I could have been hurt and that the range I purchased in good faith and based on a history of using Kenmore appliances couldnt be used. I do not have the money to trash this faulty range or I would. I can say, without hesitation, that I will never purchase an appliance from Sears or Kenmore again due to the lack of effective customer service over an obviously flawed design. I still havent had it fixed and am sickened every time I walk into my kitchen.

I purchased a new Kenmore pro double oven for a new home. It took a year after delivery to get cabinets installed. First use of oven, pie spilled. When put in self clean, it went way over temp and shut off. Sears said, too bad, over a year old. Finally, they tore it apart and found reset behind. It worked a few weeks then it got hot with an f-10 error code. Now, it wont work at all again. Sears says tough and wont even tell me what error code means.

This dishwasher is much better than my previous one. It uses less detergent and is more energy efficient. It is also much quieter than my last model. The interior racks also provide better loading arrangements. This model fit perfectly into my previous dishwashers slot. It seems to have more interior space and better design of the racks permitting better organization of dishes. I really like the streamlined appearance of this dishwasher. It has that fingerprint resistant stainless steel finish and is easy to keep clean. I am very satisfied with this unit. I felt that the price on this unit was a little high at first but after deciding on it and having used it I found it was totally worth it. Its efficiency and ease of use was totally worth the price.

I chose this specific dishwasher brand because it matched all of my other appliances in the house, refrigerator and stove and it was the biggest bang for the buck at the time. The features that I like with this dishwasher, can hold all of my dishes and glasses and it cleans them thoroughly without leaving an ugly residue behind. Also, I really like that the racks on this dishwasher hold all of my dishes and glasses and the dishwasher door has all of the buttons on top and out of the way.

I have friends and family over a lot, so I have dirty dishes and pots often. I never have to worry about the dishes coming out with food still on them, or my pots. Being single it is perfect for me. Even though I entertain a lot, it handles the big loads, sometimes with space left for more, and I rarely have to worry about a second load. I love the color I chose, gold or yellow because my kitchen is yellow, my stove is yellow, my refrigerator is yellow, my walls are too! It matches just perfectly. This is my first one, and I have never been so done with handwashing. It was worth every dime I paid for it! A definite asset to anyone, you will never handwash again.

I purchased a Kenmore gas range model 79071153705 in April of 2010 and in Nov of 2014 the oven and the broiler stopped getting hot, wouldnt heat up whatsoever. This is totally unacceptable! I didnt spend a good chunk of money on a major kitchen appliance for it to crap out within 5 years. I expected it to last 20-25 years. I have been without an oven for 3 mos now because I cant afford to get it fixed, which probably wouldnt be worth it because a repairman would charge an arm and a leg to fix it, and I cant afford a new range right now. I do know this, when I do buy a new range it wont be Kenmore. Kenmore stinks!!!

We had both the washer and dryer and they were, although basic, very efficient. The pair was relatively quiet, and the washer had an automatic bleach dispenser. The dryer did a fair job. I believe these were near bottom of the cost curve. Even though we replaced both units, they were both in good operating condition after ten years. We gave them to a neighbor who had rental properties and they are still going strong there. There were some options that we did not have, and that we wanted, so we upgraded and looked quite awhile before deciding. We wanted an HE unit, and we wanted the bells and whistles that tell you when stuff is done. We wanted more settings on the dryer. So we went to Sears and actually found something that suited us very well. We ended up, however, purchasing Whirlpool, because of the customer service at Lowes. The units were white. Dirt tended to accumulate under the lid of the washer and it needed wiped out regularly (which probably should be done at any rate). They were, as I said, pretty basic. White, utilitarian. Kenmore appliances, of any type (and weve had several so I can say this from first-hand experience) are some of the best appliances available anywhere. The units range from basic to sophisticated, and the price tag increases as the options are added. In the long run the value is, in my opinion, excellent. I would highly recommend any Kenmore appliance.

Kenmore Ultra Bake Oven - So apparently this is a thing with Kenmore ovens? I was not in the kitchen when I heard a pop followed by lots of crackling. No one was near the oven, thank god. The oven is 8 years old, but we really dont use it often and do not treat it roughly. There is no good reason why an oven door should explode. This seems to be a well-known problem and yet there are no consumer warnings on new ovens and no recalls that I can find. These ovens are dangerous and should not be in peoples homes. Kenmore should take responsibility for creating an inferior product instead of blaming this obvious defect on consumer use. Very disappointed.

We bought the Sears Kenmore Elite double wall oven and the problem is that every time you cycle the oven through the clean cycle, the oven will not work. This has happened 3 times already where you have to pull the oven out of the wall (enclosure) and hit or replace the thermal switch to make the oven work. We have insurance through Consumers Power and they come out for the fix but there is definitely a serious design flaw with the oven. I have owned by Kenmore Washer and Dryer for over 20 years. It has been reliable and I have had only a couple minor issues with them, but not bothersome enough to call for repair. Occasionally, in the washer, a load will become unbalanced and because I am not strong enough to adjust the feet on the bottom, I just rearranged the clothes inside the washer to stop the loud banging noise. With the dryer, the only issue I have is that it seems that the heat sensor might be off a little because it feels to me like the dryer is always drying on a high setting not matter what setting I select. To deal with this on my delicate fabrics, I dry them on touch-up which is a somewhat cool setting. But I would say for owning these appliances for over 20 years, I am very satisfied with them.

I had purchased a Kenmore wall oven back in December 2011. A few months ago, the racks were not fitting properly and the pan with food kept spilling and crashing onto the element and I kept getting burned. Last straw was last evening when I burned my arm pretty good when trying to rescue a falling pan. I went to Sears this morning and they told me it was probably the racks so I ordered 2. Now reading all the complaints, I see that it probably is not the racks but the product itself and it is no longer under warranty. The sales people looked at me like I was nuts when describing this problem.

The Kenmore dishwasher turbo cycle does a great job. It is very quiet and it is easy to clean the outside. The stainless steel finish looks nice. I liked the Kenmore elite fridge & stove so the dishwasher and microwave matched. Although these products look nice and they all match, the quality is crap. I purchased a Kenmore oven and the racks keep falling while cooking. I called the Sears outlet store where I purchased the oven and was told to try buying new oven racks. I purchased new oven racks through Sears and still while cooking a turkey the same problem existed with new racks. It caused a grease fire and I was burnt. After several calls to Sears I finally spoke to a corporate person who sent a repairman out at Sears expense. The Repairman said he could not fix the problem the oven walls were defective. The serviceman immediately called Sears from my home on his cell phone and I was offered 20% off a new oven if I purchased from Sears.I told the corporate person I would not accept that offer of 20% and that my oven is only three years old. It should last at least 15 years and would be talking to his supervisor on the next business day. I also told him I was going to seek legal advice, expose Sears through our local news station in the SF Bay Area if this issue was not resolved. Im shocked that this has taken so many phone calls and a service call and I still was offered 20% off a new oven and not a replacement oven. I have purchased numerous appliances through Sears and never received a run around such as this. This is a Health and Safety issue. I see other complaints such as mine online regarding wall ovens purchased through Sears. We should all seek legal help and expose Sears on the way they are handling their health and safety issues.

This Kenmore model had high ratings on several websites including Consumer Reports. I did a lot of research and It was definitely the best rated refrigerator in my price range and it had received great reviews from people that already had one. Consumer Reports recommended it. I like the solid construction and that the handles were grips inside the doors instead of on the door where you feel like youll pull the door off. There were lots of drawers and room to organize everything and shelves were able to be rearranged for tall objects. Good constant temperature throughout and freezer never iced over. But Kenmore could make the freezer section larger and make just one shelf on the door. Too crowded with two and hard to fit items in there. Also, maybe add a shelf inside the main part of the freezer to separate meats from other stuff. Had an ice maker which was a nice feature but it always got stuck and was loud and could startle you out of sleep at night. Nevertheless, Kenmore was a great refrigerator and met and even exceeded my expectations. I would buy another Kenmore.

A Kenmore oven purchased about 7 years ago seems to have a faulty circuit breaker. The broiler turns on by itself. The oven apparently doesnt even need to be turned on. It nearly burnt my home down (several times). The only way to turn the broiler off was to pull the oven out of the wall and unplug the oven. Sears offered $150, which doesnt even cover repairs. And if posts are true, it doesnt even fix the problem. Make right on this. Look it up: Kenmore oven broiler. Dont risk your families’ lives with Kenmore! I just paid $750 for a new oven which you owe us for. I am not taking a chance with my family’s lives because of poor manufacturing and negligence of human safety. I will not drop this because I care about innocent people who believe their oven will not erupt in flames on its own. Start living up to human decency and take care of this. I am one of many but I will not let this drop.

We purchased Kenmore washing machine 110.26132410 in March 2016. It has been the “washing machine from hell.” First I noticed the huge amount of lint in the filter of the dryer (same dryer I had with the old washer) when I laundered towels, and these towels were becoming frayed and worn. Then I noticed that there were holes in some towels, as if eaten out by bleach. I had used only as much bleach as indicated in the manual and put it in the bleach dispenser. Finally before my one year warranty ran out, I called for a technician. He found nothing wrong, but noticed that the bleach on my shelf was the “splash-less” type. He said that the bleach just goes to the bottom of the tub and could just stay there and not mix with the water enough and therefore get on the towels. He suggested that I use the “liquid” type bleach. There was no mention in the manual to use only the liquid bleach. I will say that there have been no new holes in my towels, but my towels have continued to wear out at an unusually high rate, and the lint filter on the dryer is still completely full after each load. I also noticed that this washer did not clean well and sometimes noticed that some clothes were not even wet. When I bought this, I had thought that the feature of “deep fill” would be useful, but found that it could only be used with “heavy duty” setting or above, not for “normal” or below. This washer has proven to be very unsatisfactory, and I will buy a new washer when I can afford to do so.

They come out (waiting a week or longer) without parts and you have to wait another 2 weeks for them to fix. Just wish they would credit me and let me buy another brand. This stove is only 1 year old. Very unhappy.

Kenmore 3.6 cu. ft. HE Top-Load Washer Item# 26-26002 - I purchased this washer along with a whole new kitchen remodel June 2013. The computer on the washer is not working and has to be replaced and it is August 2014. I took out a 30 year old Maytag that was still working fine (never once repaired) and now a little over a year later I am hit with a bill that is close to what I could go buy a cheap washer with. I have gotten no satisfaction from the company. They say I have to have an order number so they can make sure that was purchased when I said. Well they found it when I called about the cracked glass top on the stove I got at the same time... which has been replaced twice already. These items should come with a longer warranty or they should at least back their products longer. Will never purchase or recommend Kenmore again.

We bought a Kenmore Electric Range 790.9420, 9424 just under 2 years ago for $700 (January 2015). The Convection has never been impressive... Following the directions but still burning items (I have since found out that it shouldve performed much better than that but I had no reference point) and it cant cook more than one item at a time without slowing down the cooking process or burning items. The last straw was two weeks ago, 12/10/16. It made a very loud POP while trying to bake a pizza. It totally stopped baking. For the last two weeks I have gotten the worst customer service through Sears that I have ever experienced. The local store hasnt been able to help (in fact when I tried to call their listed number, they never answered and then the phone call just cut off after 3 minutes of listening to it ring). I had to go into the store to tell the manager that their phone hadnt worked for 3 days as I had tried to reach them, then the 800 Sears Service number that is listed to call has been just terrible. Those at the 800 number must be trained to never help the customer or admit that their product hasnt delivered as it should have AND they arent allowed to give out any information on someone higher than their level to complain to... Absolutely no accountability. The main numbers of 1-800-469-4663 and 1-847-286-2500 have given me NO satisfaction. They have transferred me to Sears Holdings, Sears Solutions, Sears Rewards and NO ONE has been able to help me. All say it is on me, I didnt buy a warranty but that they can come out for $89 to assess it! Are you kidding me? My Stove/oven isnt made to last even 2 years? My phone call issues range from completely dropping my calls, putting me on hold for 25 minutes and never returning to speak to me so I had to hang up and call back and start all over, saying there is no recall or defect on this item so its costs are on me. I have been trying to give Sears some time to take some responsibility for their defective product...I finally had another local repair man come out and they determined it is the Control Panel... Cost is estimated at $250 (thats just for the item), then add the labor. I called Sears with this information. They have no solution other than to tell me to pay their tech to come out and assess it. I will NOT do that. I will not buy a Sears product ever again and I will do my best to let everyone I know to never buy from there again. Other than the store manager who did a good job hearing me but had no authority to help me, I have experienced ZERO customer service. I spoke to the store manager yesterday and there was a sign of a very little movement after I pressed more that my appliance shouldnt break in under 2 years and that anyone must have a warranty for something under 2 years. She was going to contact the Service Factory Manager directly for me. I have doubts that anything will result and plan to buy with a local company. The individuals on the phone are not accountable to anyone... They dont seem to care if you have a lemon or if you will not do business with their company anymore. I was told if I had an issue and wanted to speak to a manager, that I could call back and hopefully I could get through to the Arizona call center versus the Texas one. Are you kidding me? No accountability, No customer service, No standing behind their products and making it right with customers. Terrible. I/we have many more years of buying power and it wont be with Sears. I really hope my review will prevent someone else putting their money and faith into any Sears products.

ANOTHER KENMORE 790 SERIES FRONT GLASS PANEL EXPLOSION! I have twice, in an approximately two-year period, had the same disturbing incident many others here have described. Twice, the entire glass front of the oven surface forcefully shattered all over the kitchen floor and adjacent room. When the first incident occurred, the company promptly replaced the glass front and assured us that this was an isolated incident. When the second incident occurred, the representative reported that someone would come to our home to replace the glass, but that we were twenty days out of warranty. Any expense would be ours. It is clear to me, a non-engineer, that the nature of the design is hugely flawed and very dangerous. Others of my friends have Kenmore ovens. While their handles meet a secure oven metal piece, our handle meets glass front surfacing. A heating temperature of as little as 350 degrees resulted in this near tragedy. I would not dare to try the self cleaning feature. While I have always been satisfied with Kenmore products, THIS OVEN IS A RISK TO YOU, YOUR FAMILY AND YOUR COMPANION ANIMALS. IT MUST BE RECALLED. Seeing the consistent number of unresolved complaints, we, the consumers, need to consider a class-action-suit. I NEED TO HEAR FROM AS MANY OF YOU WITH SIMILAR NEAR TRAGIC INCIDENTS AS POSSIBLE. I cant guarantee results, but it is clear that the Kenmore brand has callously ignored this risk to our health and safety.

I have had no problems with the refrigerator I bought at Sears. I have had the refrigerator for over 2 years now, and am very satisfied with its operation. It is the three-door model with the freezer on the bottom. I will have to say if you are older, like myself, you would probably do better by getting one with the freezer located in a different place. I find it difficult to bend over or kneel for a period of time to locate something in the freezer. Other than this self-inflicted problem, I would have to say that the Kenmore refrigerator has proven to be an excellent choice.

In April of 2011, we purchased model 790.48763900 Kenmore (Electrolux Canada). We had problems with length of time and reliability of oven temps. so didnt use it much. After exactly one year, 4 days out of warranty, the racks in the oven started falling, splashing food and ruining baking projects. Called for service and was told that the sides had bowed out because of use of foreign made cheap materials. I was charged $75 for this good news. He could replace the interiors for $400 per oven! I called Sears Service(?) and was moved, transferred, Blue Ribbon Service, etc. as in other posts. Absolutely no satisfaction or solutions but to spend $800. They had never heard of this problem. Baloney... stonewalling and not admitting inferior production materials. I reported to Consumer Product Safety Commission and related other posts. No satisfaction there either and no follow up. Why are they there? Only satisfaction is to get the word out to avoid ever purchasing another Kenmore, Electrolux product. American steel, manufacturing and customer service... RIP.

Kenmore 9240 Range - We replaced our kitchen appliances a year ago. The first problem is the preheating time this oven takes. The oven requires 25-30 minutes to preheat. I was told by the service man that this is because there are no coils in the bottom of the new ovens so they take longer. What a pain!!!!! Please give me the old coils and let me preheat in 10 minutes!!! I then used the self cleaning feature. The heat was so intense (840 degrees) that it literally melted the resurfaced cabinets next to the oven. The repair technician said that this was very common for this oven, and that the salesman should have told us about this. Guess what - he didnt!!!! I now have to pay to repair my new kitchen. Sears would not. If you have resurfaced kitchen cabinets - stay away from Sears ovens!!!!

I have loved my Kenmore Elite range model 79098023802 made by Electrolux for 6 years until this weekend. The range expands when cooking and the racks fall to the bottom causing everything to spill. I contacted Sears and was told that this happens after using the self cleaning feature which apparently damages the oven walls, the oven will now expand when using the oven making the racks fall. I would have to have the whole interior replaced for $300.00. When I asked if this would happen again after replacing the interior I was told it was possible. This is clearly a manufacturer defect and Sears/Electrolux should stand by their product regardless if it is under warranty. My husband is recently unemployed and we are unable to fix the problem which Sears/Electrolux should take responsibility for a faulty product!!

I purchased a bunch of Kenmore Elite kitchen appliances from Sears 3 years
I purchased a bunch of Kenmore Elite kitchen appliances from Sears 3 years ago - a gas range, a dishwasher and an over range microwave and hood combination. The problem happened with the microwave. When opening the door of the microwave recently, a peace of plastic from the edge of it got broken all of a sudden and fell on the floor. It was definitely not caused by us, or our inaccurate using of that equipment. We are very neat people, do not use the microwave frequently, just a couple of times a week and always very accurately. The problem was definitely caused by a disguised damage that the door obviously had since the beginning. Our attempt to receive a reasonable service from Sears resulted in an estimate in the amount of almost $400.00 for replacing the door, while the total price of the entire new product when we purchased it 3 years ago was $499.99. We understand that our product is not covered with a warranty any more, but, assuming that the damage (a very unusual and caused definitely by a disguised problem), can the repair price provided to us be considered reasonable? Just after 3 years of a very gentle usage of said appliance? It is obviously that both the manufacturer and the Sears corporation are not interested for their products to last long so that the people have to buy new frequently, increasing their profits. We are extremely disappointed and advise people not to purchase any appliances from Sears and avoid purchasing Kenmore products at all. Kenmore does not have a direct customer service, all attempts to contact them are transferred to Sears, while Sears representatives refuse to provide any reasonable help telling us that the repair price depends only on manufacturer. Once again, its just 3 years of an extremely gentle, infrequent and neat usage of that microwave and weve done nothing for this to happen, however, now we have to make a choice between repairing it for almost the price of a new one or buy a new one. Our previous microwave served us almost two decades and we would still have it if not the kitchen remodeling - the reason we decided to buy a new one. We will never purchase any Kenmore product anymore, nor we will purchase it from Sears. People, be careful - Kenmore and Sears are not reliable!!!

I went to Sears 3 months ago because I needed a new propane water heater, they were the only ones at the time with a unit in my size. I told the salesman I needed a propane water heater and he told us, they only sold propane heaters at his location. He looked it up and I got one along with the parts to hook it up. The unit was supposed to be for propane and the box was mark so, so I took it home and hooked it up. It started right up and ran fine for three months, then stopped working. After some head wringing, I found the cause and a reset button by the thermo coupler, rest it and it didnt work on the light setting, have to put it on low now to light. Noticed the top of the flame was a bright orange, an indication it was a gas heater, not propane, then noticed the units tag says gas only. I went back to store and they refused to help me saying, We didnt install it so were not helping you, they also refused to order, or supply me with a conversion kit for l.p. and referred me to a local hardware store, who told me it was an item we had to get through Sears.I tried looking up for the conversion kit on their site myself, but their website wont correctly search for the item, I either got ceiling fans or something else. I tried using their online assistant and they kept trying to look up for the wrong parts, and didnt know how to look them up either.

The Kenmore Electric Range model #790.9011 is a traditional coil top stove
The Kenmore Electric Range model #790.9011 is a traditional coil top stove that I purchased in 2011. Within 2 years of this brand new purchase I had to replace a burner fuse. The part costs $30. Within 5 years, there was a flash of light and a small explosion at the oven control panel and then it went blank. The part cost $170 to replace, assuming that would fix it, according to a parts store expert (he was a former repairman). I didnt think it was worth replacing and had to get a new range. The warranty was for only one year on the Kenmore and according to a store salesman all range brands only have a one year warranty today too. Manufacturers online claim that these types of ranges should last about 16 years. I have since found out that although the latest version of this Kenmore stove rates well with Consumer Reports, it is made by Electrolux, which has a poor repair history and poor brand reliability, according to Consumer Reports. It looks exactly like the Kenmore I bought 5 years ago. I wonder if the Kenmore I purchased in 2011 was also an Electrolux model. I definitely dont recommend the Kenmore Electric Range.

Stays really cool, especially in the summer when the kids are constantly opening and closing the door. I love the ice maker. Its usually in the triple digits and our old fridge couldnt keep up with the demand for icy cool drinks. I like the size because it holds a lot but it would be better with more space in the back. A bit too wide, had to remove counter space. I like the metal look but would prefer more color options. All of my kitchen appliances have been purchased to color coordinate. I would like to be able to coordinate with the fridge and stove as well. If the fridge lasts at least 7 years, Im very happy. I may upgrade before that depending on whether or not you can offer color options.

On opening the Kenmore convection wall oven door, the handle was loose and when I pulled on it, the entire glass door shattered, cutting my hand, ruining food on the counter, spraying glass as far as 12 from the oven. Using a whisk broom, regular broom and the vacuum, we were able to get most of the glass up and then we washed all of the kitchen rugs. If a small child or one of our pets had been next to me, some serious harm may have resulted. I have read about other customers having this problem and that replacing the door is not a safe option - it can happen again. Its a serious design flaw.I have spent at least an hour or two so far on the phone with Sears and Kenmore, last night immediately after the explosion and then again this morning. They are willing to send a repair tech to assess the problem at a cost to me of $99 because I have no extended warranty. NOT FAIR! This is their problem and they should offer ways to replace the oven with a better design or recompense me so that I can get a safe oven.

3 years ago, I bought what I thought would be my last stove. Brand new Kenmore, with a warming, drawer and burner. Self cleaning. 1300.00 dollar thought it was the best. Im 60 years of age. I figured I would buy one last stove before I retired. Hey, its a Kenmore, right? It would be here long after Im feeding the bugs, right?WRONG! In less than three years the oven wont heat up passed 200 degrees. The circuit board costs over 200$. I didnt buy the Sears extended warranty. Its a Kenmore! The independent service man that came out said, he would not recommend this repair, because, this problem would keep occurring. He said, he would not feel like he had done me right, if he had repaired my stove. He charged me nothing, apologized, and left. I stuffed a hundred dollar bill in his shirt pocket, and thanked him. I called Sears. They said, I should have bought the service policy. I wont buy anything from Sears again. I replaced it with a 200$ Plain Jane stove from Lowes, no electronic, no bells, no whistles. It works just fine!

Recently bought a house that is only 5 yrs old. Builder or previous owners equipped the home with all Kenmore appliances. In the 14 months since I have lived in this home, all of these appliances have either completely failed or are starting to. After only 6 yrs of use, these appliances are nothing but trouble. These machines are obviously well beyond their warranty terms so I have absolutely no recourse to have them repaired and even if I did, there is no chance that I would. It is quite clear to me that if you wish to purchase appliances for your home that you expect to last, DO NOT BUY KENMORE!!! We own a Kenmore Elite double oven that will no longer hold the racks in place in the bottom oven. This is a very dangerous defect that has caused multiple spills and also burns. Sears claims to be unaware of this defect event though there are many complaints about this same problem on the internet. The problem is caused by the walls of the oven bowing out due to regular use and cleaning of the oven. Sears refuses to issue a recall on the oven and has offered to provide a service call at our expense which does not even guarantee that it can be fixed properly. If this were a car, Im sure it would have to be recalled but I do not believe there are adequate consumer laws that cover appliances. Sears does not stand behind their products.

My fiancee whose name the appliance is listed under {Diane ** they assumed I was Mr. **} purchased a Sears Kenmore elite gas range model 79075343310 in October 2013. It has been used roughly a dozen times if that. Well on 1/26/15 we had made a pizza and were enjoying it when we heard a large pop. Upon investigation we discovered that the inner door glass had exploded and shattered. It was contained inside by the front and back panels. I figured because the warranty was only expired by three months that Sears would foot the bill for repairs. Not so! Their argument was warranty had expired. Okay understand that but when the hell have you ever heard of oven door glass exploding simply by using the oven. Definitely one for Ralph Nader. Ridiculous. Purchased a ceramic top Kenmore stove in July 2011. Model #790-92303012. Worked fine until 1/31/2015. Preheated the oven to 350 degrees to bake a pizza. The top surface of the stove was not in use. The pizza had been in the stove for 2 or 3 minutes when the stove began to make screeching noises. The control panel completely lit up, then most of it went dark and smoke began to curl up from the back of the stove. Flames shot up from the back but quickly died away, however the smoke grew more intense.I was able to quickly jerk the stove away from the wall and pull the plug, killing the power. Noticed as I did so that the electrical wires inside the back panel (visible through the slots in the back) were glowing orange. There was smoke damage to the wall behind the stove and the kitchen and half the house had that electrical fire smell - which lingered for a few days. With the power gone and the fuel source (the insulation of the wires) consumed the fire was contained. The stove was obviously shot.Contacted Sears that evening and was given a number to call and was eventually given a claim number. Everyone connected with Sears has been polite but so far there has been no meaningful response, and it is doubtful they will accept any responsibility. Too bad, we have been loyal customers owning a Kenmore refrigerator and a Kenmore Elite microwave. We are fortunate that our homeowners insurance will assist with the purchase of a replacement stove. But Sears Kenmore has a major engineering defect that is inexcusable. After reading comments from other unsatisfied customers there are numerous and more serious hazards connected with Kenmore products. I would not feel safe purchasing a Kenmore stove as a replacement and could not recommend them to anyone.

The control panel is on the right side. If you boil water/cook on the stove just below the control panel, sometimes the solder on the circuit board will dissolve and the microwave will not function. If you have the minimum clearance required between your stove-top microwave and the stove burners, also avoid boiling water in large pots just below the microwave control panel. No problems now that I know what went wrong with the first one.

I wanted to buy a new oven for my 88 year old mother who lives in a mobile home. There was only one model, Kenmore 24inch, white, gas model that fit her space. This oven was bought site unseen as there were no floor models available. Installed and with all the extra charges the cost was $1600. The oven itself was 1499.00. I live in another area so upon visiting my mother and seeing the new oven which has absolutely NO BELLS OR WHISTLES. This is a basic on off oven and broiler. OH it does have a clock... What a piece of garbage!!! The design is stupid with broiler in a bottom drawer, its barely hot enough on HI to broil anything, the door corners were chipped, the oven glass steams up when using the broiler, the temperature gauge is way off in the oven, the installation looks cheap and incomplete. If I had seen all of this within the 30 day return period this oven would be returned... But my only recourse now is to inform anyone who might be considering this oven to consider that the only pro...is that it is cheap in every way!

Apparently my problem of the oven racks falling is quite common with Kenmore Elite ovens because the walls are too thin. If this is a design flaw or intentional to generated more revenue, we will not know unless the government gets involved and requires a recall. This was the answer I got after several days of the run around with Sears saying it is a Kenmore problem and Kenmore telling me they are owned by Sears and it is a Sears problem. All the while denying there is even a problem and the only way they would acknowledge the problem is if the government had enough complaints. This is a $500.00 fix and they use the same defective walls to replace the existing. Im completely exasperated and hope this complaint will add to the many I have seen and something will be done. It is a Safety issue most of all and people can easily get burned with falling hot racks.

The warranty on the $153.00 new, improved PLASTIC ice bin is only ONE YEAR. 365 days! Gone are the days of sturdy, long lasting appliances from Sears. Buyers please think twice! I tried to contact customer service and was transferred 6 times, then hung up on! The Kenmore Elite Range of 5 years almost burned my home down this morning. When I called to ask for assistance to determine if the range was safe to be in my home, they wanted to charge me $25 to just talk to someone! Then, they wanted to charge me $89.99 to send some to my home! Yes, I am furious that this company just wanted to collect money and would not help. My home has smoke damage, which I now have to clean due to the malfunction. I will never purchase a Kenmore product again!

We are a family of six and this dishwasher fits all our dishes nicely. It has plenty of room for pots and pans, and the size goes great with our kitchen. Its tough on food residue and cleans great. It has a sleek appearance and its white so it goes perfectly with my range and other appliances. Also, its easy to wipe the outside clean which I love. Since Ive had this particular dishwasher for 8 years now I would definitely say it has a good value for this item, and its built to last. I would highly recommend this dishwasher.

My wife was baking cookies in our Kenmore oven. Thankfully she, her friend, and both of our kids were not standing near it. All of a sudden, for no apparent reason, the glass on the oven door exploded violently sending pieces of glass flying up to 10 feet away from the oven. Fortunately, our kitchen island took the brunt of the explosion. We were amazed to find thousands of pieces of glass lying on our kitchen floor.

I bought a Kenmore stove August 2013 for close to $1,000. This week as my husband was standing in front of it (luckily) there was a puff of smoke out the back and it stopped working. We were told by Sears that they could send out a repairman for $240. My husband removed the digital controls and you can plainly see the part that caught fire. He took it to our local Sears and the manager said it would not have been covered under warranty anyway because all that covers is the drive train of the stove. Basically the shell, since this isnt a car we are talking about. He said he could order the part for $109 and it would take 5-7 days to come in. We told him we thought Sears should cover that cost and they would not. In the past 20 years we have completely furnished two kitchens from Sears in an attempt to keep the company afloat. I will never buy anything from them again. I hope when the customer service people - wherever they are - get their pink slips, they see that I have signed them.

When opening oven door on Kenmore wall oven, handle fell off one side and glass door exploded into me. There were shards of glass everywhere, even countertops, and I had a small cut on my foot. The company is sending a repairman who we have to pay $250, despite all the phone calls and emails to corporate. We feel this was a defective piece of equipment, and seeing several other complaints of similar happenings, I feel we should not have to pay for service call or the repair/replacement. I will never buy Kenmore products again after this incident. And will do my best to spread the word.

It will fit in with your others thing and will always be in style and also can be put almost anywhere. It is a good value. The price is in your price range. Purchased a Kenmore Elite Refrigerator 2.5 years ago. 3 Months ago the Ice maker started dripping water and freezing up. Cost 270.00 for a repair person to come out and realign the water feed to the ice maker. Now the entire unit is not getting cold. $400 worth of parts and a bill to me for $367 plus $99 service fee. The Kenmore Elite Over the stove Microwave purchased a 14 months ago, fan was staying on. Service fee was going to be an additional $249 for the service technician to look at it while he was already at my home. The phone center where you had to call would not discuss any other options and even had the nerve to keep me on the line every time I called trying to sell me a home warranty on appliances that are less than 3 years old!!!Is that what we can expect from Kenmore? For their products to not even last a year after warranties run out? Based on the cost of the $500 a year warranty and $249 service call repair costs they must believe that their equipment will break down at least twice a year for the warranty to be effective or save the consumer money. I Think I will try another Brand.

My Kenmore electric range (Model #790-9421340D; VF 83045790) is about 5 years old. In December 2011, the range shut down completely due to a faulty control board for the variable temperature burner. I had the board replaced. A couple of days ago, I went to turn on this same variable temp burner and literally saw an electric current arc in front of my eyes! The surge caused my main circuit breaker to home to shut down cutting off all electricity. Thank God I was not hurt, but I shudder to think what might have happened. Obviously, I will be replacing this range, but not with a Sears product. We should expect that a major appliance should last more than a few years without needing repair. I will be shopping for a much more reliable product.

Weve had our oven 5 years. Its had several problems right from the beginning. The first thing that happened multiple times was on the larger bottom oven the oven racks would come off of the grooves inside the stove and on my occasion I burnt my arm. I contacted Sears several times with that concern. However I heard nothing back. The stove was no longer under warranty. I was inquiring if anyone else had been burnt because of this flaw in the oven. I have continued to have issues with the convection only working half of the time as well as the top oven burning the bottom of everything. I know its time to invest in a new oven. I just didnt think I would need to do so after only 5 years and at a cost of $1600.00.

I purchased this more expensive refrigerator as I thought LG/Kenmore was a good brand (also bought a stove & washer dryer by them. Upon researching the problem, looks like there is a class action suit against LG due to faulty compressors failing after 3 years, which they claim LG knew about, but kept selling these. Now I am out a freezer full of meat and have an expensive repair. THIS IS NOT FAIR. I had a repairmen come diagnose the problem and he said it is the compressor. $300 for parts and $600 for labor. That IS $900 to fix my $1400 fridge. A MAJOR APPLIANCE SHOULD BE BACKED BY BY AT LEAST A FIVE YEAR PARTS AND LABOR WARRANTY. I was not expecting to buy a new fridge every 2 years.

My Kenmore range was purchased in 2010 and since then, the outside glass on the oven has blown out twice, once when the oven had not even been used. The most recent incident was Nov. 15, 2014. The oven made a loud popping noise then glass shot out everywhere. The model is 790-92803010. Sears was no help and refused to view this as a safety issue when this happened the first time in June of 2012, so I contacted the Better Business Bureau and was eventually reimbursed for the cost of new glass on the oven. How could this possibly happen again? I dont see a recall on this oven and suspect there is something wrong with the seal on the door. Thanksgiving is in less than two weeks and I have to cook for 15 people!! I am disgusted with the service and this product. Furthermore, the ice make is not working on my Kenmore Elite refrigerator.

I own a Kenmore Range Model # 790.97453804. Its about 5 years old. Last night just after dinner the glass on the front of the door exploded! Shattering into pieces all over our kitchen for no apparent reason. I contacted two numbers, one for Sears, and one for Kenmore. Neither customer service person would do anything to listen to my problem or what happened. Like little programmed robots they repeated over and over it is out of warranty and they will send a technician out to assess what needs to be fixed at which time I can pay them for the repairs plus labor or pay for the service call. I decided to go online and order the parts myself. During the course of conversation with the repair specialist I find out: 1) This is a known issue. 2) The stove was manufactured by Frigidaire. 3) Its an issue with insulation in the door frame (part #7 on the diagram of the door). 4) The manufacturer recommends you replace it every 18 months. To which I responded, and how are we supposed to know that? Technician responded I am the parts specialist and we have the resources from the manufacturer. Its extremely sad that something as dangerous as this can continue and nobody is doing anything about the defective product.

I rent my home so I didnt buy this stove but I use it pretty much every day. Its a white Kenmore, ceramic top with 4 burners. One of those is a double burner. I just did the self cleaning on it, which took 3 hours (not as long as some ovens). It burned off pretty much everything but left some crusties between the crack of the door and the oven but other than that it cleaned itself great (I just had to wipe the ash out). The top is fairly easy to clean but to get the ceramic really clean and shiny I use the Kenmore cooktop ceramic cleaner. Its wonderful.

The clock would mysteriously reset as if a power outage had occurred. This happened for several weeks and then the control panel for the oven went dark and oven is UNUSABLE!!! So we call Sears for a warranty call out and the guy opens the back of the stove and discovers a bug back there that apparently shorted the board out and says he cant fix it and it wont be covered by the WARRANTY. This part is an electronic board that is not sealed in any way and will short out very easily again AT A COST OF $145.00 EACH after I spent almost a thousand on this stove. What really irritated me is even if I wanted to PAY for the repairs they would not do it. This stove is a piece of CRAP and I WILL NOT EVER RECOMMEND OR PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM SEARS!!! Model: Kenmore Stove Model 970-687131. The stoves finish was sold as a stainless steel model, but really its just a stainless steel coated finishing not at all stainless steel at all.. I feel duped of course, because the FINISH is so terribly done its wearing out fast... (see picture attached). The proof in the pudding is that the VENT hole from the oven on the left hand side has caused the finishing to come right off. One day i was cleaning the stove and bam the finish right above the venting area washed right off... Not exactly what I call QUALITY...Next time I intend to take my trusty super magnet with me anywhere I intend to buy stainless appliances and ensure that they product is exactly that, stainless steel. Magnets dont stick to stainless steel 18/10 or higher far as I know and that should be proof enough, plus I can always ask more questions and check demo models more closer. I am definitely not planning on another KENMORE forever here after. Thats for sure...

I had the original Maytag Gemini double oven range. I have now had the Kenmore Elite Double Oven Range for 2+ years. The new range is far superior. Of course the double ovens being the same size is a great help. Overall, the technology of the Kenmore range is fabulous. I have one main concern, though.... why dont they poll people that own these expensive appliances and ask us what features we want, need or desire? The timer on this range drives me INSANE! Its non-stop, and could seriously wake the dead. I know there is no way to make my second need happen, but, the bottom oven opens onto the floor..... very hard to lift something heavy in and out. Two Sears brand appliances, Kenmore, were in this house when I purchased it October 1, 2015. Both appeared fairly new and were installed during a kitchen remodel by the previous owner. Three months ago I trashed the microwave because it had so many issues. Now the stove Broil element comes on by itself and cannot be turned off at the stove console. The stove gives no indication that anything is turned on.My kitchen smoke alarm went off while I was in another part of my house alerting me that something is wrong. A glance at the stove, the only source of heat in the kitchen, and there was no indication that anything was on. A quick look in the oven and the broil element was glowing, the oven was very hot, thus the fumes escaping that set off the smoke detector. Nothing would turn it off. I turned off the breaker in the main panel and let the oven cool overnight. The next morning I turned the breaker back on and the oven came on with it, still not showing any indication of heat on the stove control panel.I Googled known defects with Kenmore stoves. Seems this is a known problem though Sears hasnt been very helpful getting it fixed. I havent reported my issue yet, not to Sears anyway. On Monday Ill be seeking legal advice about the possibility of a class action. In the mean time Ill contact Sears for a comment. This is a safety issue, my house could have caught fire while I was asleep or away and they knew the problem existed but did nothing.
