My Kenmore Oven is Not Heating
Igniter. The igniter is the most commonly defective part for an oven not heating. The igniter has two main functions. First, the igniter draws electrical current through the oven safety valve to open it. Second, the igniter gets hot enough to glow and ignite the gas in the oven burner. If the igniter gets weak, it will fail to open the safety valve correctly. If the valve does not open, the oven will not heat. To determine if the igniter is defective, observe the igniter when the oven is on. If the igniter glows for more than 90 seconds without igniting the gas flame, this indicates that the igniter is too weak to open the valve. If the igniter is weak, replace it. If the igniter does not glow at all, use a multimeter to test the igniter for continuity. If the igniter does not have continuity, replace it.
Kenmore Oven doesn't bake evenly
Bake Element. If the bake element is burned out, the oven will only be heated by the broil element. This will cause the oven to heat unevenly. When the bake element is heating properly, it glows red hot. If the element does not glow red, this indicates that the element is not heating. Often, if the element has burned out, it will be visibly damaged. Inspect the bake element for holes or blisters. To determine if the bake element has burned out, use a multimeter to test the element for continuity. If the bake element does not have continuity, replace it..
Kenmore Oven broiler not working
Broil Element. The broiler element may have burned out. When the broil element is heating properly, it glows red hot. If the element does not glow red, this indicates that the element is not heating. Often, if the element has burned out, it will be visibly damaged. Inspect the broil element for holes or blisters. To determine if the broil element has burned out, use a multimeter to test the element for continuity. If the broil element does not have continuity, replace it.
Kenmore Stove heating element not working
Surface Element Board. The surface element board has relays that regulate the power supply to the burners. If one or more of the relays fails, the surface element won’t work. If two or more burners fail at the same time, this indicates that the surface element board is likely at fault. If only one surface element won’t work, use a multimeter to test the element for continuity. If the surface element has continuity, the surface element board might be defective.
Kenmore Stove burner won't light
Spark Module. The spark modules provides power to each surface burner spark electrode. If the burner is produces a weak spark, or if the burner sparks intermittently, the spark module might be defective. Before replacing the spark module, first check the spark electrode and the spark wire. If the spark electrode and spark wire are not at fault, the spark module is likely defective. If the spark module is defective, replace it.
Kenmore Oven temperature not accurate
Bake Element. When the bake element is heating properly, it glows red hot. If the element does not glow red, this indicates that the element is not heating. Often, if the heating element has burned out, it will be visibly damaged. Inspect the heating element for holes or blisters. To determine if the bake element has burned out, use a multimeter to test the element for continuity. If the bake element does not have continuity, replace it.
Kenmore Oven light is out
Light Assembly. If the oven light is out, the entire light assembly may need to be replaced. Often the light assembly components are not sold separately.

To determine if the bake element has burned out, use a multimeter to test the element for continuity. If the bake element does not have continuity, replace it.
Kenmore Oven not self-cleaning
Door Lock Motor and Switch Assembly. During the oven's self-cleaning cycle, the door lock switch activates the door lock motor to prevent the oven door from being opened. If the door lock motor and switch assembly is defective, the oven door will not unlock once the self-cleaning cycle is complete. On most ovens, you can open the oven door by removing certain screws or panels. Check your owner's manual for further instructions.

We bought an over the range microwave because it matched all the rest of the appliances in our newly remodeled kitchen. Weve been very pleased with it. It has a soften function, which Ive not seen on a lot of other models.
Works well and has a nice range of temp. I would buy it again for sure. That you are in the market for a no frills but a power horse of a fridge check this one out. The size is about average for what they used to be. I know now some high-end models can hold a lot more but this is more than enough for the average household. It reminds me of every other fridge that has come out in the last twenty-five years that is the basic model of course. Big white surface to attach all your magnets and school report cards too. The cost is no more or less than the average fridge of that type and size. Of course you can spend a lot more for side by side doors and in door water and ice but those most people do not need in reality.
This dishwasher is much better than my previous one. It uses less detergent and is more energy efficient. It is also much quieter than my last model. The interior racks also provide better loading arrangements. This model fit perfectly into my previous dishwashers slot. It seems to have more interior space and better design of the racks permitting better organization of dishes. I really like the streamlined appearance of this dishwasher. It has that fingerprint resistant stainless steel finish and is easy to keep clean. I am very satisfied with this unit. I felt that the price on this unit was a little high at first but after deciding on it and having used it I found it was totally worth it. Its efficiency and ease of use was totally worth the price.
The range is absolutely awesome from its sleek design down to its performance. It has never let me down and has always been up to the task that I present it everyday. The 15000 BTU burner gets water boiling quickly while the smaller eyes keep sauces simmering and other food warm.
I have a dual fuel model 790.75603 oven, the oven was great for almost 8 years. Loved the dual ovens and the gas top. In Jan of this year we woke up to a beeping noise and noticed the oven was on self clean mode, couldt shut if off. My husband had to pull the oven out and unplug it. The tech came out. The oven was fine. The second time I came home and the oven was on self clean mode (that was scary) the third time we were sleeping! Reading all these reviews cant believe it hasnt been recalled! So my problem is no one makes a 40 stove anymore. If I replace it it would have to be with 36 stove and then I have a 2 gap on each side of my granite counter tops!!!! Yuhhh.
My family all pitched in so I could get the Kenmore Elite oven model #79098022802 through Sears. I picked up the oven from the Sears in the Hickory Hill Mall in Memphis, TN on January 17, 2011. Since then, I have had four service calls for the same problem, which is called an Error 14. This particular error message stops the oven from working, making it impossible to bake or warm anything up. Once the Error 14 message appears the oven completely shut downs. It does not let you override it or bypass it. The control part has been replaced twice and finally on December 26, 2012 Sears replaced the touch screen but still the Error 14 message remains.Sears had me purchase a premium warranty for $270. The oven cost $1,500. Since I have had this oven (January 2011), I have had to take off work seven times for the same problem. The Sears serviceman that came to my home to fix the oven worked on it for three hours trying to fix the Error 14 again. To this day, the oven is not fixed. The serviceman told me to call the Lemon Line for a replacement. I called and they gave me another appointment for January 4, 2013. On January 4th, the serviceman was at my house for 30 minutes. He talked to the service people and ordered the control panel part directly from the manufacturer. On January 11, 2013, the same serviceman installed the third control panel and it still did not fix the Error 14 issue. The oven will heat up to 114 degrees then it triggers the Error 14. At this point, the serviceman feels that he has exhausted all possibilities on fixing the oven and he is not coming back. The issue with my oven has been going on for two years. For two years, I have not been able to make my family meals to eat. I have not been able to make holiday meals for my family to enjoy. I have been forced to go to family and friends homes for the holidays just to enjoy a home cooked meal. I think that it is unfair that Sears has not taken care of this issue in a timely manner. No one should have to go without an oven for this long. I only want to be made whole. I would like for this oven to be exchanged for one of equal value ($1500) and a check for $270 for the premium warranty I purchased for the oven that still does not work.Since this issue began in February 2011, I have been extremely stressed and frustrated due to the fact that I am not able to use my oven to bake meals. Sears has offered me no recourse other than to sell me a warranty that has not been useful. I would greatly appreciate if someone from your company could exchange my oven for equal value but not the same brand.
I just purchased this range Friday after Thanksgiving 2015 and less than a week the burner caps got SOMETHING on it and it wont come off. The touch pad is ultra-sensitive when cleaning. (You can turn on the warmer, oven light, or even set the timer.) This is very frustrating. You have to WIPE WITH A WET, SOAPY cloth then a dry, no lint cloth so that it doesnt smudge. That also goes for the stainless. This range costs a mint too much to have to go through the inconvenience of this clean-up. As far as all the functions of the range, they seem to be working fine. Give me a couple of months and I will get back to you as to whether I am satisfied with this purchase.
I believe after viewing so many refrigerators and going to different places to check out, we were impressed with the Kenmore Refrigerator brand. I also checked out other brands and reviews but the Kenmore refrigerator by far was equipped better and the price was in the range we were going to spend. Their refrigerators also had good reviews and we liked the look. The Kenmore Refrigerator stuck out as the one we wanted to purchase. The features were great. It was set up easy to clean and it has a great icemaker.
I find it really outstanding how my stove can make my food from scratch. The features on my stove are so amazing. I can choose the type of level of heat I want to add. It heat up my pan really fast no matter the heat level.
Purchased new Kenmore/LG dishwasher 3/2012. Within 90 days, the pump went out of it and dumped all the water out. The water ran into my bedroom located directly below the kitchen. Sears ordered a new pump but in the mean time I complained to the local store and they took it back. They ordered another dishwasher which I picked up 7/2012. I then hired a contractor 5/2013 to replace the drywall ceiling and re-stucco it. We removed all items from the room, but still ended up with drywall dust allover the house. Tonight 8/23/2013 my wife calls me at work to tell me the dishwasher did it again. My bedroom ceiling is like a shower. The water is dropping the tape seams and stucco. The new floor is covered in water as well. I want Sears to buyback the dishwasher and replace it with a Bosch, KitchenAid, or Whirlpool. (My wife wants to match the stainless from the refrigerator & stove as close as possible.) Hopefully Sears will stand behind this piece of junk. Dont buy a Kenmore dishwasher if it is built by LG. The model number is 66513973K010. Just dont buy anything LG makes....
I bought a Kenmore gas range from Sears in Sept. 2012. I recently tried to use the broiler and the self cleaning features (not at the same time of course). When using these features, the range produced an extreme amount of a chemical smelling smoke that filled my house and set off my smoke detectors. I called a technician and was told that the unit was burning off a cutting oil that is used in the manufacturing process and that the smoke was perfectly normal. REALLY??? My husband has asthma and has had to leave the house because of the smoke. I cant get anyone from Sears of Kenmore to help me. I am incurring costs like crazy trying to get this mess cleaned up, paying for my husbands hotel and paying a company to come in and run air scrubbers. I have also had to remove the stove from the house in order to reduct the smell of toxins and now I have no way to cook for my family.
I chose this specific dishwasher brand because it matched all of my other appliances in the house, refrigerator and stove and it was the biggest bang for the buck at the time. The features that I like with this dishwasher, can hold all of my dishes and glasses and it cleans them thoroughly without leaving an ugly residue behind. Also, I really like that the racks on this dishwasher hold all of my dishes and glasses and the dishwasher door has all of the buttons on top and out of the way.
My 40 stainless steel Elite Kenmore range/glass top looks impressive on first notice. But the design of the rim around the top has caused it to get really scratched in a short period of time (1 year). The drawer below the ovens is very flimsy. The digital oven works great. But the smaller analog ovens thermostat can never be relied on. I love the five burners on the cooktop, two of them having the capability to be two different sizes. I am unhappy with the stainless steel finish... Very hard to clean without streaks. Ive tried everything! I needed the 40 size because I live in a 1960s house that requires 40 stove, or a lot of cabinet rehab. I thought the price was too high. But there are very few ranges available in that size.
We wanted a conduction stove/oven and after looking at more than 73 different brands and models we went with the Kenmore Elite. It has 2 ovens, which is great when you need to make more than one dish, the only 2 problems I have with it. Neither oven is big enough to stand a spiral ham up (20 lb turkey fit okay) and you cant use foil (that is how I was taught to cook turkey). We also love the options to lock both ovens and cooktops to prevent accidental turn on. The stovetop with the large burner (3 different size elements) comes in handy and the middle back with flex heating.
During the rebuild of our house we wanted to go quality, so we thought. Our kitchen was stocked with the Kenmore Elite line. Dishwasher, range and refrigerator freezer. Well here we are 2 and 1/2 years later and the Elite has already worn off, with any warranty of course. The dishwasher on the blank, out of warranty. Now the fridge is no longer cooling and you guessed it out of warranty and extended warranty. Still waiting for repairman to assess whether to repair or replace.
I purchased a Kenmore range on June 15, 2012. A small amount of tomato sauce dripped into the space between the two pieces of glass on the door. I called Sears repair and they do not cover that in the warranty. It will cost me around $150 to have it fixed. I feel that this is a flaw in the design of the oven. I have cooked for 50 years and never ever had this problem. I realize there needs to be a vent to allow hot air to escape. How are they designing the ranges differently now than decades ago? I will have to look at the smeared glass for the next 10 years.
I have owned by Kenmore Washer and Dryer for over 20 years. It has been reliable and I have had only a couple minor issues with them, but not bothersome enough to call for repair. Occasionally, in the washer, a load will become unbalanced and because I am not strong enough to adjust the feet on the bottom, I just rearranged the clothes inside the washer to stop the loud banging noise. With the dryer, the only issue I have is that it seems that the heat sensor might be off a little because it feels to me like the dryer is always drying on a high setting not matter what setting I select. To deal with this on my delicate fabrics, I dry them on touch-up which is a somewhat cool setting. But I would say for owning these appliances for over 20 years, I am very satisfied with them.
I purchased a custom home a few years ago and the microwave and oven combo were installed. The paint has peeled inside my microwave and is now rusted. I have called customer service and they advise purchasing a whole new set, although this is almost new or very gently used. Customer service is not helpful (extended wait hold time; ignorant product sales representatives who transfer to other departments with ignorant personnel). When I asked to speak to a supervisor the call was dropped...This has happened on numerous occasions, so it is not just a fluke. I will NOT purchase ANY KENMORE product ever! I advise others to consider purchasing any other brand but KENMORE.
This stove worked very well until it didnt. Ive had to replace all heating coils several time and it still quits working at the worse of times. Every time Ive used the self-cleaning feature it burns out the oven elements. I do not recommend.
Only had this piece of junk about a month when grease got between the glass panels on the oven door. The thing was under warranty so a man from Sears came out to fix it. He got the door disassembled, but was unable to put it back together. Days later, another guy came out to finish the job. The grease between the glass panels is still there! Later, upon hitting the BAKE and START buttons, the LED readout would read PRE HEATING, but unknown to us, the oven would arbitrarily refuse to light - no rhyme, no reason! A lot of meals were lost. We were STILL under warranty, so another Sears man came out. He replaced a part, but a couple of weeks later, the problem returned. He came out again with yet another part (more of this cheesy circuit board crap). Oven still wouldnt work. He returned again with yet another new part (expensive), couldnt fix the problem, left the part with us and went back to Sears, never to return. To this day the problem still whimsically comes and goes.Adding insult to injury, the oven has now begun to shut off in the middle of operation. The display panel reads E2 F3. It might just as well read, Tough luck, loser! Breads, pies, chicken, turkey, roasts. There wasnt anything my mother couldnt bake or broil with her gas range, and the thing didnt have a single circuit board, transistor, diode, capacitor or resistor in it. My Kenmore Ultra Bake Self Cleaning Super Capacity Gas Range is loaded with space-age electronic components and now it cant even bake a ** cookie!
Smooth Top Kenmore malfunctioned. Was cooking and broiler come on.... Had to call fire dept. And 220 fuse had to be pulled out to get stove off.... Am disabled... fixed income. Am checking other comments And has happened to others.
The Kenmore microwave oven was installed by our contractor, new, April 2018. It immediately developed problems: blowing fuse, turning off immediately, etc. It was service five times in the first year. I think it should have been replaced, but no. Their warranty literature says it will be fixed or replaced but thats not how it works out. Most of the issues were with the design of the door latch. This I find is a common issue with microwave ovens. The servicer took over 5 months to figure it out and repair. Now the microwave oven is blowing circuit breaker again but its out of warranty so Sears refuses to cover repairs or replace. Doesnt matter to them they they manufactured a faulty product. Once out of warranty its screw you.
We replaced our 18-year-old Kenmore Glass Top Range with another one, once we lost a two burners. Because we were pleased with the old one otherwise, we replaced it with an updated and similar model. Although, we like the convection aspect of this range, the glass portion cracked mysteriously and we had to have two associates come out to confirm the problem to replace it under warranty. The newer Kenmore, Whirlpool appliance do not seem as durable as the older one. We are disappointed and will look to other brands in the future. Glass broke within the first 6 months
Kenmore Ultra Bake Super Capacity Free Standing Gas Oven - Our oven stopped working right before Thanksgiving of 2012. It would not hold a temperature or even turn on at times. We had the control panel replaced for $300, and it got us through Thanksgiving. The oven originally cost $600 so to replace the control panel was very expensive. Right after Thanksgiving, it began to work inconsistently again. Our most recent incident was where the oven stayed on and increased the heat even though we turned it off and the control panel said that the oven was off. The gas was still on and clearly, the oven was increasing in temperature. We then got the error message E2-F3 which is the warning that it was too hot. We could not get it to turn off so we called the gas company to come right away. The gas man that showed up said that if we had cut the power to the house, the gas would have remained on unless we turned the gas valve off as well. This stove is too dangerous to keep. I would not recommend this product to anyone.
We purchased our new Kenmore Elite stove and had it delivered in November 2010 for our new home. By December 2011, we had to get the control panel for the stove fixed. A few months later, we had to call them again to fix the same problem. At both times, it was under warranty as we had purchased extended warranty. By October 2014, I was baking chicken in the oven at 350. I took the chicken out of the oven, closed the oven door, reached for a fork to turn the chicken and the oven suddenly just exploded. There was shattered glass everywhere popping on the floor like popcorn. The experience was extremely frightening and thank God there were no small children or pets around at the time. After the initial shock, we contacted Sears and only received apologies. We were fluffed off as it was no longer under warranty. We have not purchased a new one as yet but would never buy another Kenmore product again. We have shared this experience with our family and friends who are equally as shocked!
I own a Kenmore Elite Model #980.9802. It will be 5 years old in August 2014. I paid about $1800.00 for it. In the last few months, my lower oven racks will not stay in place. It seems that either they are smaller or the oven is bigger. I have learned that to repair this problem I need a new oven liner. I have read that this is no small job and that it needs to be repaired by a repairman. We are talking somewhere between $400 and up to fix this. It sounds like a defect. I dont think 4 years later that I should be facing a bill that large to repair my range.
My glass top oven is really and has never given a problem since I have owned it. It the best stove and greatly recommended it. I love the double burner so I can go from small to large cooking for dinner.
I bought the stove at Sears 2 years ago. 1 month later I had to replaced the control panel 100.00 dollars. 6 month later I had to replace a burner switch, burned out. And now my oven is out and I noticed that I have to replace the panel and all the wiring again. No thanks, I guess no oven until I CAN AFFORD A NEW ONE.
I purchased a water heater from Sears in 2002 and it began leaking in 2008. That water heater had a 9 year warranty. I had it replaced with a Power Miser 12, with a 12 year warranty. This water heater is now leaking 7 years later. When I called to arrange a replacement, I was told that this warranty is no good since I did not pay extra when it was replace in 2008. I was never told this in all my phone calls to Sears in 2008 and during the horrific process I experienced, in 2008, where I had to find the plumber myself and make all the phone calls and arrangements myself since everything Sears was supposed to be doing and they were not.Now I am told there is no warranty on this Power Miser 12 which is 9 years old. I will never get another appliance from Sears again. In my conversation with the representative he just ended it with I hope the rest of your day goes better. If you are planning on buying a water heater, I suggest you run away from Sears. They are not the company they used to be. They just dont care anymore about reputation. I will be shopping for a new water heater from Home Depot or some big box store.
We purchased a Sears slide-in gas range model 790.367 in 2008. Up to this point we have had some issues but nothing major. At this point the racks will no longer stay in place. We learned about this the hard way. This is the same problem others have described. I discussed this with the manager of our local Sears who was unaware of the problem but made a call to a long time service tech who told him that he was aware of this problem. He suggested we slide the unit out and push the walls in. We were not comfortable with this. We are considering making a service appointment but are concerned about paying a lot of money and having the problem recur. I chatted with the Sears expert who was not at all helpful. We are at a loss about what to do. We consider this a serious safety issue and will not use the oven. Like others we paid a lot of money for an oven we cant use. We feel that this is clearly a product defect and that Sears should help us.
Burn hazard due to oven racks falling. Apparently this is a well-known and well-documented hazard. These ovens are manufactured by Frigidaire for Kenmore and Jenn-Air with only the cosmetics being different. Same defect in both. Jenn Air has recalled and replaced the defective products, Sears is in denial. The problem is that when the self-cleaning mode is used, the oven sidewalls expand, allowing the racks to fall, resulting in burns. So far, weve been lucky, but if a small child or pet were in the vicinity... it could be tragic. We purchased all high end Kenmore Elite when we redid our kitchen. The factory service was a joke. We filed a complaint with the Consumer Product Safety Commission and will be sending a demand letter to Sears and Frigidaire.
After replacing my Kenmore Elite slide in oven/stove because it was a lemon with too many issues to enumerate, I foolishly choose the next generation thinking it was improved. This stove cannot maintain a temperature for more than 10 minutes before it begins a preheat function and it begins to try to come to temp by firing up the top and/or bottom heating elements effectively ruining any delicate baked goods like cookies or cakes. I will never ever buy a Kenmore product again. In addition even though they market a five element stove top, if you have 2 elements on high and the oven on, the entire unit blows the breakers and fuses (and it is not our wiring/breakers that are malfunctioning). Worst product ever!
Its louder than we expected (partly because it resonates within the cupboards its next to) and recently has started to leak -- not from mechanical issues that we can observe, but based on the type of detergent we use in it. Ball/pod detergents seem to be incomparable with it. Otherwise its performed reliably and done its job. We knew what we were buying and were already assuming wed replace it a few years into owning the home. Fits enough items that we can usually clear one side of the sink if not both; for larger pots and pans we sometimes cant fit everything in one cycle. Very nice looking for a mid-range model; matches well with our other appliances and isnt as susceptible to fingerprints as other stainless items weve owned. We got what we paid for -- not saying its not a fair value for a builder model but rather that we knew the level of quality we were getting and assumed wed need to upgrade in a few years. Cheaper to do that ourselves than through the home studio/builder.
Its great. I would recommended it. Since I have had it, it has worked very well and has not let me down... not once. I have not had to get it fixed or anything and works as good as when first got it. Have no complaints and is good value for money. Doesnt spin loud like a lot of other washer and dryers. It just looks like any other average washer or dryer. It doesnt look horrible and comes with a wide range of choices such as colors, etc. Its not the cheapest brand but you get what you pay for. I would rather pay more and get a machine that I know works very well and is reliable.
We purchased $6,000 worth of Kenmore appliances in 2013 for our new kitchen. The inside sticker in the microwave indicates it was manufactured in China in July of 2013. On December 14, 2014, I opened the microwave and discovered the inside glass on the door had shattered for no obvious reason. I was not using the microwave. I had been cooking on the stove top, but have no idea why it would have shattered, unless there was too much heat? This is obviously a manufacturing defect but when I called Sears, they required I purchase at $259 warranty, even though the product had been installed 14 months ago. This is on top of a two-year-old top load high efficiency washer that wont start without unplugging and replugging in the power source and a refrigerator with an ice maker that was installed wrong and caused much damage from the water leaking. WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER KENMORE PRODUCT.
It is an awesome product and is very easy to clean. Wipes down easily. Temperature Tunes down right away. And the oven works really well. I have always loved this brand. They are fairly inexpensive. And they never disappoint.
My Kenmore oven smells like burning wires when I use it. I see other consumers have similar complaints against Sears. My local power company has also just installed Smart Meters and the meters are causing some consumer stoves to burn out electrically. Has anyone else had their Sears Kenmore appliances malfunction just when the meters came along?
Every time I use the dryer it gets the job done. It doesnt take hours to dry them and it allows me to get more dry in half the time. I would recommend in using this dryer to help save time. It is time saving and has really helped me get my drying done. With the setting on the dryer, I can control the dry I need for my clothes. I like that is dryer is compact and it has a wonderful look to it, it is modern and fits next to my washer easily. Having the matching set will make any washroom complete and beautiful. Not everyone likes going out spending big money on washers and dryers. I found that this price was in my price range, it wasnt too high and you are getting the product for your money so you never have to worry about overspending.
I too have a Kenmore stove (Model #C970-648229) with falling racks! I have e-mailed Sears with no solutions. Ive been to their store where the stove was purchased. They even took a rack and have never returned it. They have suggested I pay for a service call to have an agent come out to tell me what the problem is... I know what the problem is - the racks no longer fit the oven! Apparently I have found out it has something to do with the lining of the walls in the oven??? Every time I have my oven on to bake something I hear this crash and the racks have fallen and my item being baked ends up spilling all over the oven. I am very, very frustrated with this. I will never buy anything from Sears again!!! And it seems they dont want to deal with this problem!! Has anyone received relief?
This washer is awesome. If you have seen commercials where they put filthy dishes in to wash and find it unbelievable, you can believe it now. I tested it. It really works with this dishwasher. I give it a score of 15 out of a possible 10. Its that good. It is the perfect size. With a family of four we can start putting the dishes in at breakfast. Throughout the day we keep adding more dishes. You would think we would run out of room before dinner, that is not so. We still have room for the dirty dinner dishes. You wouldnt think that a dishwasher could be described as pretty but this one can. I got it in the silver or chrome color and it matches the refrigerator and the oven and stove. They all look really pretty next to each other. It is definitely worth every penny I spent on it. It wasnt very expensive at all. There were other brands that did the exact same thing but were more expensive. It turned out to be a really good value.
I have to basically hand wash with soap and a scrub brush beforehand in order to have them come out clean. I am beginning to think of dishwashers as sanitizers rather than something that actually cleans the dishes. Its really quite frustrating. I can fit a lot in there, even though its pretty small. The only issue I have is that some cups dont fit in the top and pans have to be washed separately but thats pretty normal. Its nothing special really, just your typical dishwasher, but its a sleek black that fits nicely with my stove and oven. That being said, it isnt ugly either. As I said before, Im dissatisfied because I shouldnt be required to hand wash my dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. Its not only this one Ive had this problem with though, nor this brand.
ANOTHER KENMORE 790 SERIES FRONT GLASS PANEL EXPLOSION! I have twice, in an approximately two-year period, had the same disturbing incident many others here have described. Twice, the entire glass front of the oven surface forcefully shattered all over the kitchen floor and adjacent room. When the first incident occurred, the company promptly replaced the glass front and assured us that this was an isolated incident. When the second incident occurred, the representative reported that someone would come to our home to replace the glass, but that we were twenty days out of warranty. Any expense would be ours. It is clear to me, a non-engineer, that the nature of the design is hugely flawed and very dangerous. Others of my friends have Kenmore ovens. While their handles meet a secure oven metal piece, our handle meets glass front surfacing. A heating temperature of as little as 350 degrees resulted in this near tragedy. I would not dare to try the self cleaning feature. While I have always been satisfied with Kenmore products, THIS OVEN IS A RISK TO YOU, YOUR FAMILY AND YOUR COMPANION ANIMALS. IT MUST BE RECALLED. Seeing the consistent number of unresolved complaints, we, the consumers, need to consider a class-action-suit. I NEED TO HEAR FROM AS MANY OF YOU WITH SIMILAR NEAR TRAGIC INCIDENTS AS POSSIBLE. I cant guarantee results, but it is clear that the Kenmore brand has callously ignored this risk to our health and safety.
Kenmore Model 790.92202014 Oven Control Meltdown - I bought this range in early 2011 as an upgrade to my old Whirlpool range. Just shortly after it went out of warranty, the oven control unit failed. I called a repairman and a new one was ordered and replaced by him. Less than a year later, the unit failed again, so I sent the defective unit back to the provider and they sent me a replacement. This lasted less than a year again until 3-2013, only this time it blew the breaker (it never had done that before). Upon removing the back cover, I was horrified to find the oven plug that plugs into the control unit melted! I only can say Im glad it didnt start a fire. Im writing this complaint to warn people of a possible fire hazard. Im junking this range.
I feel Kenmore products are the best. I have a self-cleaning oven and the range is natural gas. Its reliable, about 12 years old, never had a problem. I would always use Kenmore and recommend this item to others.
Purchased a Sear Roto Swirl Water Heater (model 409.7341820) May 2012 for $494.00 with a 9 year warranty. It stopped producing hot water today, 2.5 years old, and when I called the 1-800 warranty number they said We do not provide any troubleshooting advice for this product. They offered to have the service distribution office call me within 3 business days (its Saturday so 5 days) to arrange a service technician to visit in the coming weeks. After stating that was unacceptable the service person had no response. Very disappointed at paying a high price to Sears who we have faithfully purchased all of our large appliances from over the past 40 years... not any longer, goodbye Sears!
This brand is very reliable. I have owned a few different appliances from this brand and have encountered few problems. My refrigerator is at least 10 years old and still going strong. My gas dryer is also holding strong and my propane stove is showing no signs of quitting yet.
I purchased my piece of junk Kenmore range Model 790.9745 in 11/09. I have had a reoccurring issue since the glass exploding and shattering for no apparent reason. The glass in the door has slipped on 3 separate occasions, requiring a service call and time waiting for repairs. On 12/13/2012, the glass was replaced after exploding. On 3/2/2013, the glass was replaced after having slipped, revealing the hardware which was holding it in place. On 6/8/2013, the glass was replaced once again due to slipping and revealing the hardware. Today, I have phoned customer service once again and have received no satisfaction from the numerous phone conversations. Each time the supervisor has been less than helpful in their ability to satisfy the customer. I would think that Sears would be a bit more concerned about rectifying this situation and stand behind what they sell and repair this problem. I will not buy another thing from Sears and I will be sure to share my poor experience with Everyone I know! I am disgusted!
We have had this oven for 5 years. In the 5 years that we have had it it has had a minimum of 2 repairs. I clean it with the automatic cleaner and something burns out in the oven. The last time I needed to wait several weeks for the part and make a second appointment for 2 servicemen to come out to pull the oven out of the wall. It is so obvious that there is a flaw with this oven. Again, I made the mistake of using the automatic oven cleaner and I am again without an oven!! It is so frustrating and Sears suggested that I google it. Not the kind of service I expect. I will never buy a Sears product again. Very disappointing.
Bought Kenmore oven 2 years ago. Stopped working on Thanksgiving. Guy sent to fix it says it needs a new back panel for $500. Kenmore made a shoddy product and should fix their poorly made oven at no cost to us. I will not purchase another Kenmore product ever again. Are we supposed to replace appliances at the same rate we have to replace light bulbs? Kenmore needs to stand behind their products and not make garbage.
I purchased a Kenmore Elite 14 months ago and used the self cleaning for the first time and when I opened the oven after the cleaning cycle was completed the paint on the bottom of the oven was blistered. I have made over 10 calls to Kenmore/Sears and have gotten nowhere because I didnt purchase the extended warranty, so now I have a $1700 oven that I cant use. Kenmore and Sears need to stand behind their products. To everyone that I have shown the pictures of the inside they all say this is a defect and not to use the oven since its getting too hot that the paint blistered.
My Kenmore stove is not two years old and has an area where the oven vents on the upper left side that burned the paint and it is now peeling away. It burned the first time I used the self cleaning oven and is now peeling. I will not pay the $80 fee just to have them come and look at it when it is something that is obviously wrong with the manufacturing. Also one side of the oven gets hotter than the other. Dont buy their refrigerators either.
Had it for several years. Has worked perfectly. Mother bought and now I have it. Has been clean many times. I remember many holidays and family get togethers. It cleans up easily and has been in many a picture as our family gathered in Moms kitchen. I have also owned a Kenmore stove. It lasted so long I could no longer find parts for it.
This Kenmore oven is great! Its big and had room for multiple food items to bake, broil and warm up. I love the timer that is on it, very helpful. The touch screen is above and out of reach of small children, so they cant accidentally start the oven. Also the knobs to turn on the flame, you have to push then turn to light the flame, which is harder for a child to do. I have had this stove for over 5 years, never a problem with it. Very easy to clean as well. Great stove/oven overall.. I have the black one too, matches my kitchen, lol. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great stove..
I purchased a Kenmore gas range model 79071153705 in April of 2010 and in Nov of 2014 the oven and the broiler stopped getting hot, wouldnt heat up whatsoever. This is totally unacceptable! I didnt spend a good chunk of money on a major kitchen appliance for it to crap out within 5 years. I expected it to last 20-25 years. I have been without an oven for 3 mos now because I cant afford to get it fixed, which probably wouldnt be worth it because a repairman would charge an arm and a leg to fix it, and I cant afford a new range right now. I do know this, when I do buy a new range it wont be Kenmore. Kenmore stinks!!!
We are a family of six and this dishwasher fits all our dishes nicely. It has plenty of room for pots and pans, and the size goes great with our kitchen. Its tough on food residue and cleans great. It has a sleek appearance and its white so it goes perfectly with my range and other appliances. Also, its easy to wipe the outside clean which I love. Since Ive had this particular dishwasher for 8 years now I would definitely say it has a good value for this item, and its built to last. I would highly recommend this dishwasher.
I have loved my Kenmore Elite range model 79098023802 made by Electrolux for 6 years until this weekend. The range expands when cooking and the racks fall to the bottom causing everything to spill. I contacted Sears and was told that this happens after using the self cleaning feature which apparently damages the oven walls, the oven will now expand when using the oven making the racks fall. I would have to have the whole interior replaced for $300.00. When I asked if this would happen again after replacing the interior I was told it was possible. This is clearly a manufacturer defect and Sears/Electrolux should stand by their product regardless if it is under warranty. My husband is recently unemployed and we are unable to fix the problem which Sears/Electrolux should take responsibility for a faulty product!!
I wanted to buy a new oven for my 88 year old mother who lives in a mobile home. There was only one model, Kenmore 24inch, white, gas model that fit her space. This oven was bought site unseen as there were no floor models available. Installed and with all the extra charges the cost was $1600. The oven itself was 1499.00. I live in another area so upon visiting my mother and seeing the new oven which has absolutely NO BELLS OR WHISTLES. This is a basic on off oven and broiler. OH it does have a clock... What a piece of garbage!!! The design is stupid with broiler in a bottom drawer, its barely hot enough on HI to broil anything, the door corners were chipped, the oven glass steams up when using the broiler, the temperature gauge is way off in the oven, the installation looks cheap and incomplete. If I had seen all of this within the 30 day return period this oven would be returned... But my only recourse now is to inform anyone who might be considering this oven to consider that the only pro...is that it is cheap in every way!
Last week, the oven door to my 2-year-old Kenmore range exploded - shattering and sending shards of glass across the kitchen. The range hadnt been used since the night before and I had turned the broiler to low, opened the door to slip food onto the rack, and was in the process of closing the door when the glass completely shattered. I called Sears, where I bought the blasted thing. They suggested I contact Kenmore, who suggested I contact Frigidaire, who referred me back to Kenmore. No one seemed concerned that I could have been hurt and that the range I purchased in good faith and based on a history of using Kenmore appliances couldnt be used. I do not have the money to trash this faulty range or I would. I can say, without hesitation, that I will never purchase an appliance from Sears or Kenmore again due to the lack of effective customer service over an obviously flawed design. I still havent had it fixed and am sickened every time I walk into my kitchen.
I purchased a complete line of Kenmore Elite products to furnish my new house in September 2010. Fast forward 1.5 years later, the indoor ice maker stopped working. I lived without ice for a while until I could find a good time to get a repairman out from Sears to fix it (2013). Now, the seals on the doors collect condensation and seem to build up a residue, special. Last night, I was surprised to have the exterior glass of my oven explode on to me whilst baking at 400. 400.... pretty average baking temp, nothing thrown at the oven, dropped on it, smacked to it, nothing. Just a surprise explosion and a cut to the shin from the tempered glass flying at me.
Im very satisfied with its performance. I never really have an issue with stuck on food or cloudiness. It thoroughly cleans and sterilizes my dishes and it doesnt take hours either. Very good model for mid price range dishwasher. I have actually moved houses and the size of the dishwasher and location has been a perfect fit both times. I went from a very large kitchen to a much smaller one and it fit with no problem. I really would have liked a sleeker look but for the price and performance I am very satisfied. The white color doesnt stain or dirty either. Very, very, very happy with the performance I am getting for the dollar amount I paid. Excellent value. This is a very good brand and model for someone that is at my income level looking for a new dishwasher.
Stays really cool, especially in the summer when the kids are constantly opening and closing the door. I love the ice maker. Its usually in the triple digits and our old fridge couldnt keep up with the demand for icy cool drinks. I like the size because it holds a lot but it would be better with more space in the back. A bit too wide, had to remove counter space. I like the metal look but would prefer more color options. All of my kitchen appliances have been purchased to color coordinate. I would like to be able to coordinate with the fridge and stove as well. If the fridge lasts at least 7 years, Im very happy. I may upgrade before that depending on whether or not you can offer color options.
I have been trying for over a month to get a replacement part for my Kenmore Elite Over the Range Microwave oven. Sears, Searsparts, or even Sears Customer Service is either UNWILLING or UNABLE to fulfill my request. I will NEVER purchase another Kenmore Elite product. The part I needed is just the light socket that shines down on the range. It seems like such a simple request, however my experience has been most frustrating dealing with Sears or their part department. The part I need is shown below.
I have a double oven and its great except one thing, the side oven is so small that really nothing fits inside to bake. You have to order special size pans AMD lets face it, no one wants to go out of their way to do that let alone bake a tiny one person cake or 4 small rolls. I dont want to take away from regular oven but I believe the tiny baby oven should be an inch to two inches bigger at least to put regular size pans even if its for warming.
This range has a vent in the rear area of the burners. When I run the oven, very hot air blows out into the room from the oven. It is so hot that I cannot use the oven at all during the summer months and have burned my fingers by touching this unused part of the range too. I live in the CA central valley and have good air conditioning but it heats up my whole kitchen, running for up to 30 minutes after the oven/broiler has shut off. The manual confirms that heat from the oven comes thru the vent. I have never had a gas oven that does this. I paid $1274.99 plus tax & delivery for the stove in December of 2011 when remodeling. I had hoped for a good stove to last for a long time. Secondly, when you set the oven for 350 Degrees, it runs so cold that I have to set it up to at least 375 to complete the baking. I am so disappointed with my purchase that I have decided not to buy any more from Sears.
Kenmore Elite has a proven record for quality and is guaranteed for an extended length of time against defects and manufacturers mistakes. It has lots of different cycles for specific dishes and silverware to offer the cleanest dishes that look hand washed and dried. They come out totally clean and sparkling every time. There is nothing I dislike about the dishwasher except having to clean the inside of the dishwasher when the dirty dishes leave a residue on the inside. It has an automatic dishwashing cleaner.
My wife and I have been faithful Kenmore customers for 15 years (as were both of our parents) UNTIL NOW. Moving into our new home 7 years ago, we bought a top of the line, matching Kenmore Elite HE4 washer and dryer. They were more expensive than the competition, but looked great and had amazing features. The dryer had a recurring issue that took 4 service visits and approx. $500 in repairs. We thought, Must have got a rare lemon. But in December, the washer stopped mid-cycle with an ERROR F6. As good customers, we called Kenmore service and a repair technician came out to fix it. He switched out the Control Board. Next day, the washer stopped again, ERROR F6. A second repairman came out and replaced the Control Board Wire Harness. Two weeks later the washer stopped again and repairman came out to explain how we needed a Motor Control Board and new motor. THIS HAS HAPPENED SIX TIMES!!! And the washer is still not fixed. We were convinced early on that we should purchase a service protection plan from Kenmore and if they couldnt fix it, Kenmore would replace it. But as of today, they want to send out a SEVENTH service repairman to try to fix the issue. My wife and I have been on the customer service hotline for 3-4 hours collectively, and had to take off from work for six days and rearrange our schedule to accommodate Kenmores technicians on six different days (with six different technicians) with no resolution. Kenmore Customer Service continues to give us the runaround and will not replace the washer as promised through the service agreement, nor will they give us a managers name to resolve the issue. This has been the most infuriating experience of our lives. If Kenmore will not resolve this issue immediately, we intend to spread the word of our experience on every social media outlet we can find. Our friends and followers on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr, Blogger and Instagram will soon know about our experience.
The oven racks fall with little or no weight placed on them. It is so bad that they now dont fit. Ive read online that the interior lining of the oven expands and the racks fall. This is a MAJOR safety hazard. I have been burned and my wife has been burned as a result. After informing the operator who took my call that I am an attorney, the operator transferred me to a line for immediate help. The immediate help was for the operator and not me, as the transferred line hung up on me.
Kenmore Household Microwave 790.80373310 - Ive had this unit for exactly two years. Never had a moments problem. Its an over the stove model and the other day I was running the fan on low while boiled eggs. After I was done, I noticed a smell of something being hot. I ignored it but when I went to shut off the fan it wouldnt. I tried several times but finally I unplugged it and pulled it back in. The fan shut off but I smell was stronger. An hour later I went to use the microwave and found that then plastic turntable inside as well as the smaller turntable had gotten so hot it turned from red to black and MELTED! Keep in mind, the only thing that was running was the fan when this happened. I tried to call Sears and was just given the runaround. Its two years old! It could have burned down my house if Id left it alone. Im horrified about this situation.
Our Oven/Stove is a Induction Stove top and its wonderful, the best appliance we have ever owned. Set the temperature the same for cooking items and get great results. Cools quickly, no burning your fingers. The confection setting for the Oven works so much better than a standard oven as well, cooks more evenly. Love this appliance.
Please dont buy Kenmore, or from Sears. My stove caught on fire last night (11/21/14). Sears wont replace it they want me to pay for the repair....NOT, so here is what happened: We cut the oven to warm up then walked away. We heard a popping then a smell of wires burning. If we had not been in the kitchen this would be a different story. I call Sears, oh they want me to pay to have them come look at it, I dont think so! The earliest they can come to look at it is DECEMBER 2nd, Wait that is a week and a half! They told me that I cant get it replaced without me paying for it even if it is faulty wires. I AM SO MAD right now! If you have a Kenmore range in your house unplug it NOW, wishing I had never bought this thing!
Flimsy electronics on 7131 gas range - You know its bad when you have to glue your range together with epoxy to cook! I used my range about 5 times over the span of 2 years in my farmhouse when the electronics module broke off and fell back into the range. When I opened the back up, I found that the control panel was installed with 4 tiny plastic ears that were way too fragile to use in a kitchen appliance. Since my warranty had expired, I just glued some bent aluminum to the sides of the control electronics and put it back in. It works, but in all my days as an electrical engineer, I have never seen something so flimsy that is supposed to work for the life of a product. Someone needs to know this.
Kenmore washer set is a very good product to use. Doesnt take long to get the job done and it has a great spin cycle. I would recommend it to any customer that is looking to purchase a new washer set. They were able to deliver it on time. It comes with a warranty and offers a great deal of thing. Its comes as new and out of 4 month I never encountered a problem with it so I would recommend this product to any customer that is looking to purchase. When it arrives it was brand new. It had no marks no scratches on i. All the knob were and still are working properly. It was very well in my price range of things to choose and I really like how they gave me a discount consider information I was the new customer. I would recommend this to anyone that is looking to buy it.
I have had this refrigerator for several years and I have never had a problems with it. The seals are extremely tight and the insulation is great as I never have to turn it up very high. I have a family of 6 and there is plenty of room for storage. I do have extra drawers that I put on the shelves because with 4 teenagers it makes no difference how big your fridge is, there is never enough room. Mine is the color bisque, it matches my stove and my washer and dryer. I prefer this as it does not show prints and spots as easy as as white one does. Mine has a left opening as that is the way my kitchen is designed. I bought it on sale and it was extremely well priced. I would have bought it whether it was on sale or not as it was the only one I could find that completely met all of the things I wanted.
This is third Kenmore oven electric s/c. First one went into self-clean on its own, nearly burned the house down and completely charred the whole oven. Second one had two major board failures, resulting in the third. This one may or may not respond to control inputs. No more Sears stuff, ever.
I bought this over the range microwave from Sears a couple of years ago. I thought that 1000 watts would be plenty. However most food that you buy for the microwave directions, usually state 1100 watt ovens. The food doesnt seem to stay hot as long as food cooked on the range or in a conventional oven.
I was turning on the simmer select burner, and heard a gun shot like noise coming from range. It was terrifying and boiling water from the other burner splashed on my hand. Everything went dead on the stove. It tripped the circuit breaker. I called customer service and product recalls 5 times and kept getting transferred. No one seemed to care, other than to tell me our stove is not subject to recall. I consider this not only a waste of money, but a safety issue.
I purchased a Kenmore glass top range ten years ago. It had everything that I wanted from a self cleaning feature, warming drawer, warming stove top burner to name a few. However, the first thing I had a problem with was the screws to the door handles were in constant need of tightening, then the area around the front of the handle cracked. I use my oven less than 6 times a week on average and only once a day.The other day, while waiting for my oven to preheat, there was an explosion, the door flew open and the inside of the oven was on fire. We managed to get it under control without having to call 911. And we were able to shut the oven off at the stove top (reading other reviews, people had to shut it off at the breaker). My house was full of smoke. Needless to say, I am in shock and horror over this situation. I cant for the life of me figure out why this happened. What if I were using the self cleaning mode? The oven would have been on lock!!! So I guess it would have blown the door off?I will not consider repairing the oven, nor will I consider another Kenmore appliance of any kind. I had also purchased a Kenmore dishwasher which never washed the dishes that well from the start and parts were cheaply made. We replaced that in 5 years time. I resent spending my hard earned money on junk that doesnt function well when you have it and it has to be replaced every 5 years. I have a 30 year old fridge in my basement and never had an issue with it - which is the way it used to be. You replaced those items because you wanted to update style and technology - not because it caught on fire and potentially could have burned the house down. What is more disturbing is that there are plenty of the same complaints on here about the fires and nothing has been done about it.
I purchased a Kenmore stove in September of 2013. The other night after baking a pizza, I turned the stove off by pressing the Stop button on the control panel. The panel started to spark, and then caught on FIRE! I was able to put the fire out, pulled the stove away from the wall, and removed the back panel. The control panel was completely burnt. Sears informed me that I should have bought the Master Protection Agreement for circumstances like this. It is 2 years old. Sears refused to stand behind their product and Vanessa, the company rep, informed me that I should have had it serviced yearly like it states in the manual. Nowhere in the manual does it recommend removing the back panel and checking the motherboard to see if it might potentially catch fire. Sears only attempt to make this right was to try and sell me a protection plan in case it happened again. An internet search showed that Kenmore stoves are known for this problem, but nothing is being done to correct it. I caution any buyer, DO NOT PURCHASE A KENMORE STOVE, and I would highly recommend that due to Sears lack of concern, do not purchase anything from this company.
I just bought a coop two months that had been renovated and the kitchen has Kenmore appliances. Dishwasher and refrigerator seem fine, but the gas range (model number 790.7050 or 7060) runs super-hot. I first noticed that the French fries cooking at 450 degrees really came out as crispy critters, so I turned the oven down about 50 degrees and its better. The real problem is that the oven is so hot that I have to run both the vent on high and a fan in order to cook something on the stove top at the same time. Ive never had this problem with any other gas range Ive had (Im 62) so its really puzzling. Now that Ive read the other comments about the ovens, I will be super careful and am considering just getting another gas range. I think this is the way this thing is designed. Even at the lower oven heat, the temperature in the kitchen is unbearable. This is from someone who hardly uses air conditioning in the summer. Anyone else have this experience?
Purchased the Kenmore pro microwave oven. Beautiful looking appliance for my new kitchen. I loved the features along with the over the stove lighting. It was the first microwave I owned that had useful lighting. I never had any problems with it. Then it happened--one year and 7 days later it stopped working. Out of warranty, out of luck.
Kemore Range Model 970503720 - My wife and I have had three brand new stoves stop working on us. The most recent stove was a Kenmore Model 970C503720 which is a convection fan. This was an upgrade from Sears from the basic model which did not have the convection. Soon after purchase on stove number one, the clock stopped which controls the oven temperature. This would not allow the oven to heat up higher that 287 degrees. We had the control board replaced but it died as well. We received a replacement stove, same problem occurred; then, we upgraded to our current stove and the same problem occurred. Sears indicated that this will be the last time they will help us because nobody else has this problem and they have suggested that if it happened again we must have a wiring problem. Nothing electronically with regard to the stove has changed in our house and before we bought these three new stoves, our previous stove ran just fine for 20 years. It is my belief that the control boards are defective. So now we are going to approach Sears for a fourth time; concerned that we will not get satisfaction. We are willing to upgrade to something that does not have this kind of control board but did chose to stay with this design to avoid having to buy new pots and pans to accommodate the newer cooking surfaces.
My Kenmore dishwasher was very fast and it did not make a bunch of loud noises like some dishwashers that I had owned prior. This specific model dishwasher had powerful jets. I cant recall a time when I owned my first Kenmore that I ever had to run my dishes through a second cycle. They always came out looking crystal clean. The dishwasher came with my first condo I bought and for the five years I lived there I had absolutely no problems at all with it. I own a Kenmore now because of it. I was told by the previous owners of the condominiums that the dishwasher and oven were brand new and had been installed a week earlier.
All my appliances have been Kenmore. Its always been a product I have trusted. My parents and my sister always buy Kenmore. We built our home and my husband and I had to decide where to shop for our kitchen. We both agreed Sears. When my dad had to replace his stove I told him to go to Sears.
I purchased this range about six months ago, because I had an earlier model and loved it. Not so much this time. The oven bakes/roasts very unevenly, unless I use the convection feature. Recently, we found out the stovetop burner knobs are rendered useless VERY easily and VERY expensive to replace. There is a thin sheath inside the knob that fits over the shaft that controls the burner heat. This sheath often stays on the shaft when the knob is removed for cleaning. The first time it happened was by our cleaning lady, and she didnt notice that the knob was loose when she replaced it. We later figured out that the sheath had come out of the knob and just got lost. Now I am finding the sheath often stays on the shaft when I remove the knob and has to be replaced in the knob. It is very, very thin. We had to order a replacement knob and it cost $40!! $30 for the knob and $10 to ship. Not happy at all and will not recommend this product. Sad, because I have always had Kenmore appliances. No more.
Purchased a Kenmore Electric Range in March 2017. Last Monday night 11/06, while using the oven at 450 degrees, the glass in the oven door exploded and shattered. 3rd party technician arrived today for service appointment. Opened the door and confirmed the window was shattered (nice work genius) and informed me that it would take two additional weeks for the parts to arrive. In my opinion, if something this violent happens to a product, then I would say its defective. I want my defective stove to be replaced!I have spoke with exactly 10 Sears and Kenmore representatives today and have not received any assistance on the replacement of my defective stove. Even drove down to the store I purchased it from to seek some assistance... That was a useless waste of time! I have even had two representatives tell me that it usually takes seven or eight occurrences or service calls before they deem a product un-repairable and would consider replacing it. So... Kenmore and Sears would rather keep an appliance in service with risk to my family if the window decides to fully explode and shatter, rather than just replacing a range??? I have never experienced such a poor level of customer service as I have today. This is a perfect example of why the Sears Holding stock is only at $4.50 per share this morning and the fact that they are closing another 100+ stores. They treated me like I was some sort of thieve and all I was trying to do is replace a defective range to keep my family safe. What really blew me away!!! I told the last customer service person that Kenmore does NOT stand behind their quality or product! Freddies response was that Kenmore doesnt even produce or manufacture the ranges. They are made by Whirlpool and Kenmore slaps their brand name on the product. Freddie wasnt even fazed, almost like he didnt even care. Guess I wouldnt care either if I was working for a sinking ship!
Ive never had a washer where I didnt have to pre-soak stains for them to actually come out. This washer does that, which is awesome since I have a chef husband and 16 month baby whose clothes get tons of stains. It has a huge capacity! I can wash entire loads without the washer becoming unbalanced and making a racket, which saves me a lot of time and aggravation! I love the silver color instead of plain old white. It doesnt take up any more space than our old washer, but its much deeper so it can hold more. The buttons are easily accessible and the functions are easy to read and understand. Everything I could ask for from a washer are included with this one. Im so happy that I bought it. The low price was a huge plus as well. It beat out any other washer in the price range as well as any that were more expensive.
We purchased Kenmore 790.80332310 in April, 2018. We upgraded all of our appliances. We had our original Kenmore appliances for 20 years. On New Years Day, 2019 I cooked on top of our Kenmore range and in the oven. While cooking the fan from the Kenmore over-range microwave automatically came on as usual. After a period, it stopped. I had not used the microwave at all that day. I completed cooking on the range top but the food in the oven continued to bake. I walked in the adjacent Family Room to watch the Rose Bowl parade. While sitting watching the parade, I began smelling a strange odor. While walking into kitchen, my husband and I heard a loud boom. I walked to the microwave, there was a flame inside the cabinet and the glass turn table was totally shattered. We moved into action to smother the fire to prevent the flame from accessing the magnetron. The next day, we called Sears Service. The technician was scheduled for a 12:00 PM to 5 PM window of time. At 6:19 PM, I received a text that technician was on the way. At 7:00 PM I called, dispatcher could not locate technician. A technician was rescheduled for Monday. The technical arrived on Monday and said that he came on Friday but could not see an address (our address is located on our mailbox). When the technician viewed the cabinet of the microwave and he stated that he had never seen anything like that. He called his senior team but stated that he was having difficulty in cell phone service. He could forward photos of the cabinet to the Senior Team. The exterior of the microwave looks brand new. The technician departed. We received an email stating that the fire was caused by customer negligence. Therefore, the warranty was cancelled and no further action would be taken. We called Service. We were told that the microwave was totally burned by us. We explained that this microwave is setting in our cabinet. It is totally burned. If you walked into our kitchen you would never know about the damage within the cabinet. Of course, my husband disconnected the microwave from electricity to prevent another fire from happening. We asked for another technician to make an assessment of the damage. We were told that we would have to pay a service charge for a technician to come out again. We consented to pay the charge for an assessment. Sears then proceeded to attempt to send the same technician again. My husband called in protest. He was told that the particular technician was the technician for this area. We are totally disappointed in this defective product and the Customer Service rendered by Sears. They have no regard for the customers who purchase their products.
Purchased a replacement Kenmore model 79094192310 convection range in January 2015. In December 2015, oven heat went wild and would not turn off until I turned off breaker. Called service since still under one year warranty. Girl assured me it was a bad heat probe, even though I told her I was sure it was a blown controller. Delaying Christmas baking waiting a week on scheduled tech and probe. Of course, tech arrives and assures me the controller is bad. Although his computer said he had the part on his truck, he did not and ordered replacement scheduled for yet another week later. Totally unacceptable. I then ordered the part online from another supplier with one-day shipment. Paid for the part myself. I will install myself. Tech assured me the range was made by Frigidaire, however, part supplier told me this model is made by Electrolux. Whatever. Poor quality. Will never buy Kenmore again. BUYER BEWARE!
We bought a new Kenmore electric range model #790.93751102 in 2001. I have not had any problems with the oven until two nights ago. We turned the oven on to 350 degrees and waited for it to preheat. We put cookies in the oven and within a few minutes there was smoke inside. My daughter opened the door which caused flames. She shut the door. Smoke was all over the house and pouring out of the oven. I turned off the oven thinking that would do it. Smoke was still filling the air and the oven was getting hotter. I looked in the door window and noticed the upper element was on. We decided to turn the breaker off. Im so glad I did not open the door because we heard a pop and flames came shooting out of the door and then quickly got sucked back in. At that point I called 911. The fire department was dispatched as well as some deputies. We were instructed not to open the oven door until someone got there. By the time the deputies had arrived, the oven was no longer smoking. When we turned the breaker back on, the upper element went back on, and we hadnt touched the oven. The broiler just turned on for no reason. I contacted Sears, and the technician said he had never heard anything like that happening. I told him he should do a search because I found that there are plenty of us around. I know the unit is not new, but that shouldnt happen. Thank God no one was hurt, but we could easily have been, and our house could have burnt down. Im glad we did not leave the kitchen to go to another room until the timer went off. Thinking about that makes me shudder.
This is my first smooth top 2 door oven from Kenmore. Before I had a coil oven which lasted for 23 years. It came with our mobile home and sold it (still in working order) before we got a Kenmore.
The range is easy to use and heats up really fast. It would be better if it had an induction system. The range does not appear to come with a hood and fan system which would be helpful if they did offer those to go with it. I like that it comes in different colors. Very helpful that it comes in gas and electric. Knobs come off for easy cleaning and the top raises so you can get underneath.
This isnt dissatisfaction... its a HAZARD. Broiler feed tube in back of oven has a hole which guessing formed when a piece of something landed on and reacted with aluminum. Turned broiler on... feed tube emitted gas through tube... broiler lit and whoosh large flame a good foot high and six inches wide emerged from back of oven... luckily I was standing right there. Turned burner and oven off. Flame went out in about 5 seconds... enough to scare the ** out of me! My range is a good 10 years in service... not a problem to be found until this. My opinion... a bulletin should be sent to all owners to check the broiler feed tube!!! Holy Guacamole if I wasnt there, the whole house couldve gone up in propane flames. Btw to the editor, yes Im sure GE does manufacture in the US but they do in Mexico, also... see tag.
I had purchased a Kenmore wall oven back in December 2011. A few months ago, the racks were not fitting properly and the pan with food kept spilling and crashing onto the element and I kept getting burned. Last straw was last evening when I burned my arm pretty good when trying to rescue a falling pan. I went to Sears this morning and they told me it was probably the racks so I ordered 2. Now reading all the complaints, I see that it probably is not the racks but the product itself and it is no longer under warranty. The sales people looked at me like I was nuts when describing this problem.
Yesterday while baking, the inner glass door of my 3-year-old Kenmore oven exploded, sending hot glass shards onto my kitchen floor and into the oven. Has anyone begun a class action lawsuit regarding this product? I have read numerous online reports that Sears does not back this product by repairing or replacing the oven door or damage to the owner. I attempted reporting to Sears customer service and was guided to how to dispose of the oven.
I would like a little louder alarm, I would also like to have a plug in on the back panel. I also would like to make it easier to clean inside of the glass. Otherwise I really enjoy my electric stove. The last one I had lasted 24 years of hard use. Since I love to cook and bake.
My 1.8 year old water heater started producing water that is too hot. So, I turned the thermostat setting to Low. Still getting temps of as high as 147 - 157 F. Concerned that grandkids may get burned. If I adjust the setting even a little bit below Low, the temp drops to 92F. Note: Owners manual says Low setting should produce 110F water. Factoring in the possibility of short repeated heating cycles causing expected readings of 20F higher, it is still producing water 10-17F higher than expected with no ability to lower the temp without dropping too much (92F).2May17 - Sears Technician diagnosed and ordered gas control valve (thermostat). 10May17 - Sears Technician installed new valve. Would not start. He conferred with Sears and AO Smith tech support staff. They determined that the valve must be defective. Ordered new valve. Next morning I (the customer) tried heater once again. It worked fine, but produced same hot temps as before.15May17 - Sears technician returned. I shared my temp readings with him. He contacted Sears & AO Smith tech support. They concluded that gas valve was working properly. They rationalized that the problem was related to stacking (short heat cycles). I pointed out that even if we allow an additional 20F for that, it is 10-15F too high with no ability to lower the temperature to a proper range. They suggested installing a mixing valve and checking single handed faucets to see of having any cross-over issues (i.e. turn on cold but still pulling hot water). Closed call but told technician intended to register a product complaint with Sears/AO Smith but I was very satisfied with his service/help. Total labor cost for Service Call: $209. Original cost of heater install $1215.
Purchased Kenmore Electric Range Model 79094182310 Nov. 2017. Within 1 yr after using Self-Clean feature which resulted in scorched area to the top of oven door on left side, I called for service. This scorched panel was replaced and I was told not to use self-clean function???! During 2018 I continued using the oven, replaced the bulb and still getting scorched/brown areas on top panel of the oven door even at temps of 425 and above. Called again and tech from Indianapolis came, checked thoroughly, called for research info about this oven, advised that the oven door seems ok but heat exhaust from oven is faulty/insufficiently constructed and there is no repair/solution. This faulty electric range should be recalled and replaced.
We turn the oven Model #790.78859602, Serial # VF 73527358. Both upper and bottom was on preheat. In a minute we saw all fire inside the oven, small explosion, and gas smell all over the kitchen. We turn off all the knobs. We dont know the reason. I am writing this because if someone had the same problem I would like to know.
I purchased a Kenmore gas range in Oct 2013: model#79036903 905 Serial #NF33430475. My complaints are many with this range, but the most difficult is removing the storage bin to clean the floor under the range. It entails super dexterity to pull up the clip on the left while holding down the clip on the right, at the same time pulling the draw outward. This can only be done if you straddle the draw. These clips are located on the far inner sides of the draw. Once the draw is out, there is a bar across the front that makes it difficult to get to the crud that gathers under that bar. Sears needs to rethink this design. I always purchased appliances from them. In the last few years, I am very dissatisfied with their products.
I am very dissatisfied with Sears. I believe that the quality of your appliances has declined & you are selling service contracts that you cant honor. I have bought Sears products for years & have seen a steady decline in the products & the services. I have had difficulty with my kitchen range & a service contract on my refrigerator, & a lawn tractor. I have waited for a service call for weeks, then the service people are late, or they cancel repeatedly. I have had multiple calls for my Kenmore Elite dual fuel kitchen range, which I believe constitutes a lemon & should be replaced. I have called Sears a number of times & spoken with people in supervisory positions, to no avail. I have decided to go public to warn others.
